- 0:08Speaker 2: The World's a vegetal podcasts.
- 0:15Speaker 3: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. That was good, and then of
- 0:20Speaker 3: course the ceremony is that all being done with this speech?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:23Speaker 4: The word I use was like, their explosives aren't explosives.
- 0:26Speaker 3: So what's the definition of an explosive play? Plus twenty
- 0:29Speaker 3: Now is that in the air or that's a catch? No,
- 0:32Speaker 3: just has to be in the air. No, it's just
- 0:33Speaker 3: a twenty yard play. Okay, Well, I don't know what
- 0:36Speaker 3: the difference is.
- 0:37Speaker 4: It's not just you know what I mean.
- 0:39Speaker 3: Now, Well, like if guy breaks five tackles, then in
- 0:42Speaker 3: your definition that becomes an explosive play. If he gets over.
- 0:45Speaker 1: Twenty yards, yeah, because it's supposed to.
- 0:46Speaker 3: To me, that's not an explosive play. Okay, anyways, but
- 0:50Speaker 3: I thought it blitz is when they sent an extra guy.
- 0:53Speaker 3: It's not where they send it.
- 0:55Speaker 1: Yeah, just I'm with you.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Sometimes guys drop out and then it comes from a safety.
- 1:00Speaker 1: And that's what that's That's right.
- 1:02Speaker 3: It doesn't matter where they come from, it's how many come.
- 1:05Speaker 4: If there's five guys across the line of scrimmage, right,
- 1:08Speaker 4: and then there's five offensive linement.
- 1:10Speaker 1: Not a blitz.
- 1:11Speaker 3: If I have a hat on every hat, it's not
- 1:12Speaker 3: a blitz, right, That's what I'm Yeah, but it doesn't
- 1:15Speaker 3: matter where it comes.
- 1:16Speaker 1: I don't know what they're arguing about.
- 1:17Speaker 5: This is Patriots Unfiltered, presented by Toyota's official website for
- 1:22Speaker 5: deals buy a Toyota dot Com Wednesday.
- 1:31Speaker 3: That stadium as.
- 1:36Speaker 1: Sure, Jersey Mice just sitting out there, Police's place.
- 1:41Speaker 4: I just want Jersey Mike's as a sponsor that.
- 1:47Speaker 6: Yeah, right, we'll try all kinds of Oh I guess
- 1:52Speaker 6: what the freestyle a little bit without Freddy.
- 1:54Speaker 1: So fred in case you didn't hear, as advocating for
- 1:57Speaker 1: a sponsor for the studio. Yeah, having some mic issues
- 2:01Speaker 1: right now. So well, Kenny Marine Corps gets that one
- 2:04Speaker 1: straightened out. We're all in favor of the Jersey Mics.
- 2:07Speaker 3: It's working now, Ny, all right.
- 2:11Speaker 1: Slow play that, Paul.
- 2:12Speaker 6: Just a quick recap of the first thirty seconds of
- 2:14Speaker 6: the show and then the second thirty seconds of the show.
- 2:17Speaker 1: To handle that well, perfect, Thanks, Okay, like a pro.
- 2:20Speaker 3: I'm back. I'm back, all right, So it's Deuce, it's Evan,
- 2:23Speaker 3: it's Paul, it's me. We're here talking Patriots. It's turned
- 2:26Speaker 3: the page Wednesday. We're talking about the Caroline of Panthers.
- 2:30Speaker 1: Bryce Young, I'm gonna have a hard time with this one, righty, Tua,
- 2:35Speaker 1: you say that's not a terrible comp's yeah, okay.
- 2:39Speaker 3: More a little more willing to run than Tua maybe
- 2:43Speaker 3: a little bit, yes, okay, but too small, too small
- 2:47Speaker 3: to do so.
- 2:48Speaker 4: Only throws the middle of the field.
- 2:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:51Speaker 4: If you ask him to drive it outside the numbers
- 2:53Speaker 4: or drive it deep, you're you're asking to do things
- 2:56Speaker 4: that he's not great at. He loves to live in
- 2:58Speaker 4: the short game, in the middle of the fie.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Just like to I, They're like, I don't think it's
- 3:03Speaker 1: about their last five quarters of football pretty remarkable.
- 3:06Speaker 6: I think they were down twenty seven to three to
- 3:09Speaker 6: the Cardinals and then just started going on long drives
- 3:12Speaker 6: and scoring. Cardinals didn't really seem too interested in playing
- 3:15Speaker 6: after that point, and then they shut out, you know,
- 3:17Speaker 6: last week the Falcons. Evan has some thoughts on on
- 3:21Speaker 6: the Falcons quarterback.
- 3:24Speaker 1: Could you give your boy some static for.
- 3:26Speaker 4: That Barth Yeah, oh yeah, your boy Pennix just in
- 3:29Speaker 4: a blender, like like he threw a flat to the flat,
- 3:33Speaker 4: like I just I don't understand that. Like it was,
- 3:36Speaker 4: it was like a really weird game from Atlanta, and
- 3:40Speaker 4: they fired their wide receivers coach after the game.
- 3:43Speaker 1: The weirdest thing I've seen in all while.
- 3:45Speaker 4: Because the spacing and the depths of the routes, it
- 3:48Speaker 4: was a mess, Like they their offense was just a mess.
- 3:51Speaker 4: So they fired their wide receivers coach. And now Zach
- 3:54Speaker 4: Robinson is moving from upstairs to downstairs so that he
- 3:57Speaker 4: can talk to Penix directly on the sideline. It's like
- 4:00Speaker 4: Atlanta's like kind of panicking that they lost thirty to
- 4:03Speaker 4: nothing to Carolina and the dreadful. Yeah, and so I'm
- 4:08Speaker 4: not trying to take anything away from the Panthers, but
- 4:11Speaker 4: my point is is that thirty to nothing score is
- 4:13Speaker 4: pretty deceiving. Like Atlanta did a lot of shooting itself
- 4:17Speaker 4: in the foot.
- 4:18Speaker 3: But I always you know, when a bad team is
- 4:20Speaker 3: playing bad and another team beats them badly, good for
- 4:24Speaker 3: that team to do what you're supposed to do, you know, So.
- 4:27Speaker 1: I sort of looked at it. I think Atlanta had
- 4:29Speaker 1: a similar kind of game than the Patriots did, only
- 4:33Speaker 1: instead of moving the ball and turning it over, they
- 4:35Speaker 1: just kept finding ways to not turn it over. And
- 4:39Speaker 1: they I think they failed in a couple of fourth downs.
- 4:42Speaker 1: I think they did. They miss a field goal too,
- 4:44Speaker 1: So so you know, the kicking gud Parker Romo was
- 4:49Speaker 1: four for two this week, and I think they had
- 4:52Speaker 1: to pick six in there.
- 4:54Speaker 4: Yep.
- 4:54Speaker 1: But to your point, Fred, like the Patriots had all
- 4:56Speaker 1: those calamities happen, and it's a twenty one to fourteen game,
- 4:59Speaker 1: right the Falcons had all those things happen and lost
- 5:02Speaker 1: thirty to nothing.
- 5:03Speaker 6: Right, Yeah, right now it feels it feels I think
- 5:06Speaker 6: we said it not a must win in September, but
- 5:10Speaker 6: you've had two fifty wins games. I mean I call
- 5:12Speaker 6: the Raiders game, and you know, and then last weekend
- 5:15Speaker 6: Steel it was kind of the fifty to fifty games.
- 5:17Speaker 6: I considered the Miami game a little bit more Miami.
- 5:19Speaker 6: But this is another fifty fifty going off.
- 5:21Speaker 3: You're going on the road for three straight weeks after
- 5:24Speaker 3: this one, one of which is Buffalo on a Sunday night. Yeah,
- 5:28Speaker 3: and so you like to go too and two instead
- 5:31Speaker 3: of one and three to me, that's a big difference.
- 5:34Speaker 4: Because then you're one from being objective, right Buffalo, Right, Yeah,
- 5:40Speaker 4: I mean that's that's the whole. Like, this is a
- 5:43Speaker 4: game that we all thought going into the year that
- 5:45Speaker 4: they would win, and so now you had to take
- 5:48Speaker 4: care of business in these types of games like okay,
- 5:50Speaker 4: you Boston the Steelers, which I think was a coin flip,
- 5:53Speaker 4: but Carolina, Cleveland, New Orleans, like these were the games
- 5:58Speaker 4: when people are talking about eight nine, ten wins. Got
- 6:01Speaker 4: to have them.
- 6:02Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeh. Panthers though, I mean I think they
- 6:05Speaker 1: have their issues.
- 6:06Speaker 6: Derek Brown good up front, I mean, really good people,
- 6:08Speaker 6: but they only have one sack on the year. I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 6: they've got a number of pressures, and so you don't
- 6:12Speaker 6: get too carried away that they're not getting any pressure.
- 6:14Speaker 6: But they have forced turnovers, so secondary is pretty good.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Mean j C. Horn our old guy Paul that we
- 6:20Speaker 1: we liked a couple of years ago, and I were
- 6:21Speaker 1: very high on him in the draft. Yeah, he's active
- 6:24Speaker 1: out there.
- 6:25Speaker 6: So they have they have some pieces, but in a
- 6:27Speaker 6: lot of ways, it's very much a reflection of the
- 6:29Speaker 6: kind of team the Patriots are as well. Sam trying
- 6:31Speaker 6: to find its way, and like the boys said, this
- 6:34Speaker 6: is you want to make it out of this kind
- 6:36Speaker 6: of lower level fourth place schedule that you're playing right now.
- 6:39Speaker 1: These are the games you have to you have to
- 6:40Speaker 1: start to win.
- 6:41Speaker 6: So I think, especially being at home, after how last
- 6:44Speaker 6: week went and some of the performances, I think this,
- 6:46Speaker 6: you know, could have an opportunity though, to take advantage
- 6:49Speaker 6: of it, get a big win at home, get that
- 6:51Speaker 6: first home win for for Vrabel, and then maybe have
- 6:53Speaker 6: a little bit of confidence and momentum going into Buffalo.
- 6:56Speaker 1: We know what a challenge that's going to be that game. Yeah, yep.
- 7:00Speaker 3: So where are we now? Where do you think this
- 7:03Speaker 3: team is in terms of you know, yeah, they have
- 7:08Speaker 3: what it takes to beat the Panthers this week. Are
- 7:11Speaker 3: we in a good place? You know, even despite all
- 7:13Speaker 3: the fumbles?
- 7:14Speaker 6: I mean I think I think so, But you know,
- 7:17Speaker 6: I just when you make that many mistakes, it's hard
- 7:20Speaker 6: to say.
- 7:20Speaker 1: Now, they'll be fine this week. They won't turn it over.
- 7:23Speaker 1: You know.
- 7:23Speaker 6: One thing I would point out that I said to
- 7:25Speaker 6: Paul earlier that you know, we talk a lot about
- 7:27Speaker 6: the penalties, is that the offense only had one penalty
- 7:30Speaker 6: in that game last weekend and they.
- 7:31Speaker 1: Only had one penalties a team in the second half.
- 7:34Speaker 6: Was that Carlton Davis call that was I think everybody
- 7:36Speaker 6: agreed was a little bit iffy. So maybe there's some
- 7:39Speaker 6: positive strides there in terms of the penalties, getting down
- 7:41Speaker 6: into crunch time being better in the second half. I
- 7:44Speaker 6: think they were that a little bit more disciplined and
- 7:46Speaker 6: you know, no false starts.
- 7:47Speaker 1: Those are big problem. You know, We'll give had a
- 7:49Speaker 1: couple of those.
- 7:50Speaker 6: So maybe I'm looking for some silver linings and some
- 7:53Speaker 6: baby steps. But until they start doing it consistently.
- 7:56Speaker 1: It's hard to say, oh, yeah, they're not going to
- 7:58Speaker 1: turn it over this week. I mean, it's just you
- 8:00Speaker 1: have to go out there and improve it.
- 8:01Speaker 3: You mentioned, Uh, they only have one sack on the season.
- 8:05Speaker 3: Who will will Campbell be going up against in particular?
- 8:08Speaker 4: Yeah, so they they really they drafted to edge rushers
- 8:12Speaker 4: in Day two of the draft that they're trying to
- 8:14Speaker 4: break in. Uh Princely and Nick Corton, who want.
- 8:19Speaker 1: To doce his guys and I remember that name.
- 8:21Speaker 4: It has flashed a little bit. Scrton. Princely has their
- 8:25Speaker 4: only sack, but Scoorrton, I think you know, on the
- 8:28Speaker 4: film has flashed a little bit, but they other than that,
- 8:31Speaker 4: they they don't really have a lot that inspires you.
- 8:34Speaker 4: On the defensive line. You know, Derek Brown is a
- 8:36Speaker 4: really good, like run stuffing player, but he's not going
- 8:39Speaker 4: to go up against Will Campbell, so uh.
- 8:42Speaker 1: It's it's it's more of like a Seymour type defensive end.
- 8:45Speaker 4: Yeah, he plays like a three four end in the
- 8:47Speaker 4: B gap like type of player, and he's he's awesome,
- 8:50Speaker 4: Like he's one of my favorite players to watch. Ye,
- 8:55Speaker 4: there's not a lot of guys that can like rag
- 8:57Speaker 4: doll people at this level, but that he ragged alls
- 9:01Speaker 4: people and he's a really strong player. But you know,
- 9:05Speaker 4: they don't really have anybody that I would say like
- 9:07Speaker 4: this is the matchup, like you know, well, you know
- 9:10Speaker 4: Watt and her big and you know Crosby and like that.
- 9:13Speaker 4: That's not really they're trying to figure it out right now.
- 9:16Speaker 4: I think with Carolina.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Okay, so you mentioned the game before last one where
- 9:23Speaker 3: they had, you know, the comeback against the Cardinals. Is
- 9:28Speaker 3: something clicking there, Like it's something like make sure.
- 9:31Speaker 1: You wonderively I think a little bit, and I'm with Mike,
- 9:35Speaker 1: you know, sometimes you know, I look at those late
- 9:38Speaker 1: comebacks and kind of garbage time until it's not garbage time.
- 9:42Speaker 1: All of a sudden, they get you know, within then
- 9:44Speaker 1: they had the ball at the end, like I think
- 9:46Speaker 1: they got an on side kick, you know, in that
- 9:48Speaker 1: game too, So they clearly Arizona allowed that game to
- 9:52Speaker 1: get closer than they wanted to. But I still kind
- 9:56Speaker 1: of look at that as like way behind, Arizona took
- 9:58Speaker 1: the foot off the gas, they got caught, and ultimately
- 10:02Speaker 1: they couldn't win the game. But then they follow that
- 10:04Speaker 1: up with a pretty good performance, not necessarily great offensive performance,
- 10:08Speaker 1: but to Evan's point, the defense looks like they might
- 10:10Speaker 1: be finding something. They want to run the ball, they
- 10:14Speaker 1: want to be physical, they want to play to the
- 10:17Speaker 1: they want to play some defense. I think they're comfortable
- 10:20Speaker 1: getting in one of those kinds of games. So the
- 10:22Speaker 1: Patriots offense needs to make sure it's not one of
- 10:24Speaker 1: those kinds of games.
- 10:24Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 10:25Speaker 6: Yeah, a lot of caters just for Tadian Sanders in
- 10:27Speaker 6: the middle of the field and that comeback, like they
- 10:28Speaker 6: just kept hitting that one over and over again, while
- 10:31Speaker 6: the Cardinals were just kind of playing off coverage and saying,
- 10:33Speaker 6: we just don't want to get beat we're up twenty
- 10:35Speaker 6: seven to three, so maybe there is.
- 10:38Speaker 1: A little bit of something.
- 10:39Speaker 3: What about the speed on Carolina because you mentioned the
- 10:41Speaker 3: middle of the field. Well, you know, Miami has a
- 10:44Speaker 3: lot of speed, granted, but they had some success over
- 10:47Speaker 3: the middle of the field. Our linebackers were called out
- 10:50Speaker 3: in that game for the coverage. Is this something that
- 10:54Speaker 3: it could be a matchup in favor of the Panthers
- 10:56Speaker 3: in terms of the middle of the field.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I don't think the speeds have fact now, I don't
- 11:01Speaker 1: really you know.
- 11:03Speaker 4: I want to talk a little bit about Tet because
- 11:05Speaker 4: I think he's been really good, but that Tet's their
- 11:08Speaker 4: entire passing game, Like he's a one man show in
- 11:12Speaker 4: the passing game. I mean, Bryce Young threw for one
- 11:13Speaker 4: hundred and twenty yards in the game last week and
- 11:16Speaker 4: they won thirty to nothing.
- 11:17Speaker 1: So it tells you a little bit.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Yeah, Like right now, the one consistent threat in the
- 11:22Speaker 4: passing game that they have is Tet, and Tet looks
- 11:26Speaker 4: really good. I'm not going to say, you know, not
- 11:29Speaker 4: going to crown him yet, but he looks like his skills,
- 11:32Speaker 4: you know, fluidity, body control, yards after the catch, like
- 11:37Speaker 4: all that seems to be translating to the NFL level
- 11:40Speaker 4: for him. It was kind of fun watching him honestly,
- 11:42Speaker 4: Like he's he's a playmaker, but he's by himself right now.
- 11:47Speaker 4: So if you can take him out of the game,
- 11:50Speaker 4: I don't really know where else the Panthers go. They
- 11:54Speaker 4: really like Jalen Cocher, he's on injured reserve. He's not
- 11:56Speaker 4: going to play in this case, So I just don't
- 12:00Speaker 4: really nowhere else they go besides Ted.
- 12:01Speaker 1: If just to illustrate the numbers, Ted has two hundred
- 12:06Speaker 1: and sixteen yards receiving. The next guy is Sanders, the
- 12:10Speaker 1: tight end that Mike mentioned with ninety two. So I
- 12:14Speaker 1: mean he has fourteen catches. You know it's eleven. You
- 12:16Speaker 1: know Hunter Renfro back after a couple of years out
- 12:19Speaker 1: of the league. He made some place in that game.
- 12:21Speaker 1: But you know he's averaging less than six yards a catch. Yeah, Like,
- 12:25Speaker 1: there's not a lot of speed that is gonna necessarily.
- 12:30Speaker 4: And Ted's not a speed guy.
- 12:31Speaker 1: No, he's more of a size.
- 12:33Speaker 3: I mean, we kind of alluded to it last week
- 12:35Speaker 3: when we were wondering if Gonza was going to be
- 12:38Speaker 3: back for the Steelers, and I think one of our
- 12:41Speaker 3: emailers said you know, well, maybe you know, the Panthers
- 12:44Speaker 3: are a better game for him to break break back in.
- 12:49Speaker 1: Yeah, he's getting back out there, and I do you
- 12:51Speaker 1: agree with that?
- 12:51Speaker 3: Is this a good game for Gonzo to get his
- 12:53Speaker 3: feet wet again?
- 12:54Speaker 4: I mean in terms of like the fact that they
- 12:56Speaker 4: might have the worst receiving corner league.
- 12:58Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, And I understore it's not mine.
- 13:02Speaker 4: I understand that Dad's glass houses a little bit, but like.
- 13:04Speaker 1: It's, oh, this is a core that's not as good
- 13:07Speaker 1: as the Patriots.
- 13:07Speaker 4: I agree. I mean I would say it leads to
- 13:10Speaker 4: depth isn't as good, Like the Patriots might not have
- 13:13Speaker 4: a Ted McMillan, but they're one through five is I
- 13:15Speaker 4: think more filled out than the Panthers. So the Panthers
- 13:20Speaker 4: are in a similar spot as the Patriots. They they
- 13:22Speaker 4: have a young quarterback and they're still trying to find
- 13:24Speaker 4: weapons to put around the young quarterback and they haven't
- 13:27Speaker 4: really been able to. Like Xavier Laget's been a bust
- 13:30Speaker 4: so far, thirty second overall pick two years ago, and
- 13:33Speaker 4: then they drafted ten eighth overall in this last draft.
- 13:35Speaker 1: So I just want to read try and I want
- 13:37Speaker 1: to read Xavier gets Yeah. Season ste you do it
- 13:40Speaker 1: in a Louisiana accident. He has he has four catches
- 13:44Speaker 1: on the season, right, and you might say, like at all,
- 13:47Speaker 1: so he hasn't really got to for eight yards.
- 13:49Speaker 4: Yeah, he's been tough. Yeah, it's been a rough start
- 13:52Speaker 4: for him.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Four catches for eight yards. That means they can't get
- 13:54Speaker 1: the ball to him at all, and they're just throwing screens.
- 13:57Speaker 1: One of them was for seven. Yeah, how many targets
- 13:59Speaker 1: is yet? Because there were no don't don't say so
- 14:01Speaker 1: you know they don't have on the they were just.
- 14:03Speaker 6: There were at least two or three times in watching
- 14:05Speaker 6: some of them that it just felt like different page.
- 14:07Speaker 1: They're on different pages. So your point, he has a
- 14:09Speaker 1: long of nine weird screens. Yeah, yeah, it's just didn't
- 14:16Speaker 1: they they can't get the ball to him, so they're
- 14:18Speaker 1: just going out of their way. So we got to
- 14:19Speaker 1: get the ball.
- 14:20Speaker 4: Because he just doesn't really run routes very well. So
- 14:23Speaker 4: he's a you know, Levisca Shenault like poor Man's Deebo Samuel,
- 14:29Speaker 4: Like that's kind of like his His game is like
- 14:32Speaker 4: yards after the catch and tough and physical and all
- 14:35Speaker 4: that kind of stuff, and it just it hasn't necessarily translated,
- 14:39Speaker 4: so h it. I think that their offense on paper
- 14:44Speaker 4: is worse than the Patriots all.
- 14:46Speaker 1: I don't think there's any question quite a bit it does.
- 14:48Speaker 6: I mean, just Bryce Young size all brought up on
- 14:52Speaker 6: the on the TV show, just stands out how small
- 14:54Speaker 6: he is.
- 14:54Speaker 1: It's hard.
- 14:55Speaker 6: It's hard for him to figure out, you know, how
- 14:57Speaker 6: to navigate over those big players. And just mentioned to
- 15:01Speaker 6: you know, Chewba Hubbard's pretty good player hasn't been great,
- 15:03Speaker 6: but him and Rico Dowdell, they're they're two primary backs,
- 15:06Speaker 6: and you know, I look at Sanders and Tommy Trumble
- 15:08Speaker 6: the tight ends is maybe they do. Try to target
- 15:11Speaker 6: some of those easy throws for Bryce Young in the
- 15:13Speaker 6: middle of the field, make things easy. Try to target
- 15:15Speaker 6: the Patriots linebackers who haven't been great.
- 15:18Speaker 1: That might be one to proach. I want to save
- 15:20Speaker 1: Evan a little bit of anguish this week, and like
- 15:23Speaker 1: it's probably not a week you want to come out
- 15:25Speaker 1: with like two deep safeties with like no bulk up front,
- 15:29Speaker 1: you know, time tanga on the sideline and two deep
- 15:32Speaker 1: safeties to allow you but Hubbard to get off to
- 15:34Speaker 1: a decent start, because that's what that's where Carolina wants
- 15:36Speaker 1: to do.
- 15:37Speaker 4: Apparently it's really THEO and Aaron Rodgers is a front
- 15:40Speaker 4: runner for MVP.
- 15:41Speaker 1: He said, I wanted to say this.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Sorry, sorry sorry.
- 15:45Speaker 1: So like Bryce Young, and I do think he shows
- 15:48Speaker 1: some flashes of kind of getting it. But again, numbers,
- 15:54Speaker 1: I know don't always tell the story. But Drake May
- 15:58Speaker 1: has thrown for almost two hundred more yards than Bright
- 16:00Speaker 1: Young in fewer attempts. So he's not being able to,
- 16:04Speaker 1: as Evan said, push the ball outside. He's not being
- 16:06Speaker 1: able to get the ball downfield. It's tight ends, it's backs,
- 16:10Speaker 1: and Ted who is I mean, that's a good solid
- 16:13Speaker 1: start for him. Fourteen for two sixteen, that's good. That's
- 16:16Speaker 1: a good solid weapon. I got to think, between Carlton
- 16:19Speaker 1: Davis and hopefully Christian Gonzales, you should be able to
- 16:22Speaker 1: contain him when he's the only option they really have.
- 16:27Speaker 1: So this comes down to make sure that they can't
- 16:30Speaker 1: run the ball and stay in short yarded situations, and
- 16:32Speaker 1: you should have a pretty successful defensive day.
- 16:34Speaker 4: Agreed. Yeah, Ted Teed's really good, but they have the
- 16:37Speaker 4: corners to match up with Ted. They should, at least
- 16:40Speaker 4: on paper. And I just with Bryce Young, I think
- 16:43Speaker 4: the biggest thing to me is on the good side.
- 16:46Speaker 4: You know, he does process pretty well, like he's pretty
- 16:49Speaker 4: quick through his progressions and sees the field pretty well,
- 16:52Speaker 4: but he just doesn't have the arm talent to push
- 16:54Speaker 4: the ball down the field. So if you know, he's
- 16:57Speaker 4: one for six on throws over twenty yards so far
- 17:00Speaker 4: this season, and the one was a jump ball that
- 17:02Speaker 4: Ted bailed him out on. So it just isn't a
- 17:06Speaker 4: downfield passing game. You know, they don't really have that option.
- 17:10Speaker 4: So I just, like Paul said, like you should be
- 17:14Speaker 4: able to shut down this offense, like this should be
- 17:18Speaker 4: a good day for the Patriots defense.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Okay, all right, so today a lot of optimism, Freddie. Yeah,
- 17:24Speaker 1: this show, we'll.
- 17:25Speaker 3: Be going to Mike Rabel's press conference live at about
- 17:28Speaker 3: twelve fifty five, Evan and Duce will be heading to
- 17:31Speaker 3: the locker room, and then Evan will be going out
- 17:34Speaker 3: to practice today. We'll get our first practice participation report
- 17:39Speaker 3: today by around four o'clock. We'll see who got dinged
- 17:42Speaker 3: up in the last game. Yeah, the status of some
- 17:45Speaker 3: other lingering injuries.
- 17:47Speaker 1: Like the last couple of weeks we've gone out there
- 17:49Speaker 1: and it's all been about Gonzales. But there's been like
- 17:52Speaker 1: Morgan Moses or you know, who's the only one that
- 17:56Speaker 1: had foot chase on or who had the chase on.
- 18:02Speaker 4: That hasn't been.
- 18:03Speaker 1: No, he's a matter of fact, it's been no issue
- 18:05Speaker 1: at all. He's played great. I think Landry has been
- 18:08Speaker 1: really active, but everybody's focusing on Gonzales. Is he back?
- 18:13Speaker 1: Is he back?
- 18:13Speaker 3: Is he back?
- 18:14Speaker 1: Yeah? There's guys, like Fred said, that probably got nicked
- 18:18Speaker 1: up in the game that we don't really know about. Yeah,
- 18:20Speaker 1: a couple of hopefully Hunter Henry is not one of those,
- 18:23Speaker 1: because he did get nicked up and.
- 18:24Speaker 6: Yeah, and he did speak on on Monday. But a
- 18:27Speaker 6: couple of practice squad guys got claim. Mark Robinson, who
- 18:30Speaker 6: they had elevated, was grabbed by the Jets. I thought
- 18:35Speaker 6: maybe he might be a candidate to get promoted. I
- 18:37Speaker 6: think he retweeted Griese saying, maybe it's an option to
- 18:40Speaker 6: have to buy. But then there Munford Junior also got
- 18:44Speaker 6: grabbed by the Browns. I believe who was their fifth tackle.
- 18:48Speaker 6: I think fifth tackle on the team is.
- 18:49Speaker 1: A practice squad. So Patriots practice squad has some openings now.
- 18:55Speaker 4: And have an opening on the roster also still have
- 18:58Speaker 4: an opening. Robin was because they he's out of elevations.
- 19:02Speaker 4: So I thought Robinson was a candidate to get that
- 19:05Speaker 4: open roster spot. So I was a little surprised, and
- 19:09Speaker 4: I wonder, like did they did they offer him a contract,
- 19:12Speaker 4: and like when the Jets came calling, like yeah, it sounds.
- 19:15Speaker 1: Like they could have you know, they had the spot
- 19:17Speaker 1: to do it.
- 19:18Speaker 6: Yeah, But I am I am I crazy though to
- 19:20Speaker 6: be intrigued by Jelani Tobai and how he might fit
- 19:23Speaker 6: into this defense a little bit.
- 19:24Speaker 1: If he were to come back next week, I think
- 19:26Speaker 1: he will be in that spot. I don't know how
- 19:29Speaker 1: quickly that bat'll happen, but to illustrate Mike's point, he'll
- 19:32Speaker 1: be eligible after this game. So he had to miss
- 19:34Speaker 1: at least the first four games, so he'll he'll be
- 19:36Speaker 1: eligible to return from IR heading into next week. So
- 19:40Speaker 1: the Buffalo game.
- 19:41Speaker 6: Interesting player, I mean, I'd say, yeah, I would think
- 19:42Speaker 6: he'd be in the mix. You know, in early in
- 19:44Speaker 6: OTAs when we saw him. I mean, he wasn't around
- 19:46Speaker 6: very long the spring before. I believe he re injured
- 19:48Speaker 6: his calfolic during during mini camp, but he was out
- 19:52Speaker 6: there and next to Spolene and stuff, and I just
- 19:55Speaker 6: you know, Spalein and Ellis kind of look like the
- 19:56Speaker 6: same body type. Is versatility, play a little bit on
- 20:01Speaker 6: the edge too, Does that add a new twist? I mean,
- 20:03Speaker 6: I'm not I don't want to make out Jolanne Toby
- 20:05Speaker 6: to be the savior, but I think when he was
- 20:07Speaker 6: in the right role in the Patriots defense, he played
- 20:09Speaker 6: played really well.
- 20:10Speaker 1: He had some stretches of really good play.
- 20:11Speaker 6: I just like his size and ability to you know,
- 20:14Speaker 6: I'm not sitting here saying the run defense needs size,
- 20:16Speaker 6: but you know, I think he gives them a little
- 20:18Speaker 6: bit of a different option than than Ellis does. So
- 20:21Speaker 6: I'm really curious how that all plays out.
- 20:23Speaker 1: Once it's a better player than that.
- 20:25Speaker 4: Yeah, it's been a weak spot for them for the
- 20:27Speaker 4: first three games. I mean, Splain had a nice bounce
- 20:29Speaker 4: back last week, but you can't look at Christian. I
- 20:33Speaker 4: mean Christian Let's got benched on Sunday. So obviously Devai
- 20:36Speaker 4: is gonna have some opportunities and uh, you know, could
- 20:38Speaker 4: be a better answer next to Splaine than Ellis. So yeah,
- 20:42Speaker 4: I don't think it's weird to bring it up. And
- 20:45Speaker 4: he was in the locker room last week when we
- 20:47Speaker 4: were in there, which usually is a sign that maybe
- 20:50Speaker 4: you know he's around and he's you know, starting to
- 20:53Speaker 4: ramp it up maybe, so you know, like Paul said,
- 20:56Speaker 4: he's one week away but could be back.
- 20:59Speaker 1: But it was interesting too.
- 21:00Speaker 6: Sorry for one more thing was just the cornerback just
- 21:03Speaker 6: traded from Tennessee to the Jets and reports that the
- 21:05Speaker 6: Patriots weren't on that as well.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Just thought that was interesting.
- 21:08Speaker 6: With Alex Austin last week similarly getting benched, how do
- 21:13Speaker 6: they feel about Charles Woods?
- 21:15Speaker 1: Is he going to be back in this week? Well,
- 21:16Speaker 1: and then you look and they're clearly they're not thrilled
- 21:22Speaker 1: with their depth at that spot, you know, like you had.
- 21:24Speaker 1: DJ James had some snaps in the opener and evidently
- 21:27Speaker 1: those didn't go too well because he ended up getting
- 21:30Speaker 1: released shortly thereafter. Right, So now Austin is in there,
- 21:34Speaker 1: he loses some playing time. Charles Woods they just claimed
- 21:37Speaker 1: off waivers at the start of the season. Now he's
- 21:39Speaker 1: in a role. So you know, he lost Marcellus Dio,
- 21:42Speaker 1: who might have represented some depth. I know he would
- 21:44Speaker 1: have been a special teams guy for them, but he
- 21:47Speaker 1: might have represented some depth in the secondary. They lost him,
- 21:50Speaker 1: so they're still searching there for, you know, the secondary spots.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Franklin and Baltimore writes in at Podcasts at Patriots dot Com.
- 21:58Speaker 3: He says, I'd be cautious about downplaying the Panthers defense,
- 22:02Speaker 3: particularly their secondary. Even taking away what they did to Penix,
- 22:06Speaker 3: they pretty much shut down at both Arizona and Jacksonville
- 22:09Speaker 3: and aren't a defense susceptible to big passing plays. The
- 22:12Speaker 3: best way to attack them has been through the running game,
- 22:15Speaker 3: where they ranked near the bottom of the league. So
- 22:17Speaker 3: we'll see if that's the route Josh goes in terms
- 22:20Speaker 3: of game planning, but so far the Panthers have proven
- 22:22Speaker 3: to be a difficult group to pass against. Yeah.
- 22:25Speaker 4: No, I'm not taking the Panthers defense.
- 22:27Speaker 1: Likely, not downplaying the defense at all. I think that's
- 22:29Speaker 1: the strength of the team. Now, I would say that
- 22:32Speaker 1: Jacksonville had twenty six, Arizona had twenty seven. If you
- 22:35Speaker 1: can sign me up for that now, I'll take that
- 22:38Speaker 1: and be comfortable that the Patriots will win the game
- 22:40Speaker 1: if they can get to the mid to upper twenty. Yeah.
- 22:43Speaker 4: The Cardinals game was sneaky though, because I remember watching
- 22:45Speaker 4: the Cardinals game back and thinking that was actually like
- 22:48Speaker 4: a pretty good performance by the Panthers defense. I thought
- 22:51Speaker 4: there was a lot of things that they did in
- 22:53Speaker 4: that game that were pretty good. But then you look
- 22:56Speaker 4: up and they still gave up twenty seven points, so
- 22:58Speaker 4: it wasn't perfect.
- 23:00Speaker 1: They don't get a lot of help from the offense.
- 23:01Speaker 1: Although he's just looking at the numbers, like they're better
- 23:04Speaker 1: on third down defensively, then like offenses thirty nine percent,
- 23:09Speaker 1: they only allow thirty eight percent. You know, their defense,
- 23:12Speaker 1: So their defense has played well and that they'll probably
- 23:14Speaker 1: show up and try to keep them in the game
- 23:16Speaker 1: on Sunday.
- 23:17Speaker 4: Yeah, their defensive coordinator, Everro is kind of like a
- 23:21Speaker 4: hot up and coming coach candidate.
- 23:24Speaker 1: Uh.
- 23:24Speaker 4: He's a good schemer and has gotten some head coach
- 23:27Speaker 4: interviews already in some of the last couple of cycles.
- 23:31Speaker 4: So it's a name that that's come up a few times.
- 23:34Speaker 4: And he was he.
- 23:35Speaker 1: Around here summer to ago, like checking out practice with Bill.
- 23:38Speaker 1: I might be thinking of somebody else. Maybe I never
- 23:40Speaker 1: heard that name in my life. I'm just looking at
- 23:42Speaker 1: right now, Zero, I've never heard that name.
- 23:46Speaker 4: Yeah, he's uh, he's he's maybe he's good. I like
- 23:49Speaker 4: what they do. They they disguise pressure Fred, they don't.
- 23:53Speaker 4: They don't blitz, they disguise.
- 23:55Speaker 1: They don't do the red Dog, Yeah, red Dog.
- 23:58Speaker 3: They play a.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Lot of ZP get the red ass the red Dog. Yeah.
- 24:02Speaker 4: But they change it up post snap, you know, they
- 24:04Speaker 4: changed the picture and they blitz from different places. And
- 24:07Speaker 4: they haven't. They have basically no pass rush, so they
- 24:11Speaker 4: he's kind of has to scheme it up and generate pressure,
- 24:14Speaker 4: and I think he's pretty good.
- 24:16Speaker 3: Okay, Jacket and Abba writes in for the five Panthers below,
- 24:20Speaker 3: each member of the PEU team must declare whether he's
- 24:23Speaker 3: a stutter of stiff. It must be one of the other,
- 24:25Speaker 3: no middle ground. So stutter stiff, Bryce Young, Yeah, Hunter,
- 24:31Speaker 3: Renfro Stiff, shove a Hubbard.
- 24:35Speaker 1: Stud stiff, if I have to say one or the other, Yeah,
- 24:38Speaker 1: stud stiff. Playing to Shawn Wharton, who I don't know.
- 24:43Speaker 1: I'm gonna say stiff, I don't know.
- 24:44Speaker 3: Finally, J C.
- 24:45Speaker 4: Horn, he's a I think he might be their best player.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Brown, maybe Ted eventually.
- 24:54Speaker 3: Okay, all right, anything else we need to talk about
- 24:59Speaker 3: Panthers or Patriots or NFL before we really open it
- 25:03Speaker 3: up to listeners and remind.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Us that, and you know, they all talked about it.
- 25:08Speaker 1: I think the email had talked, don't sleep on the defense,
- 25:11Speaker 1: and yeah, that the running game. This is a week
- 25:13Speaker 1: that I know everybody said it last week about Pittsburgh
- 25:16Speaker 1: and I was sort of skeptical because Pittsburgh's reputation is
- 25:19Speaker 1: not being that soft against the run, and I think
- 25:22Speaker 1: that we saw that that was kind of circumstantial. They
- 25:26Speaker 1: were much better against the run against the Patriots. This
- 25:28Speaker 1: is a Tania allow in almost five and a half
- 25:30Speaker 1: a carry through three games. So you should be able
- 25:34Speaker 1: to run the ball against this team and maybe if
- 25:38Speaker 1: that secondary is as good as as we're talking about,
- 25:42Speaker 1: that's a good way to move the ball and score
- 25:45Speaker 1: points this week and it has gone to it. Yeah,
- 25:48Speaker 1: just hold on to it is right now. That also
- 25:51Speaker 1: takes it if you want to run the ball, the
- 25:54Speaker 1: other kid who's going to run it?
- 25:56Speaker 3: Well, I mean that's why I was going to run it.
- 25:59Speaker 3: Twelve fifty five is much must watch, uh video because
- 26:06Speaker 3: I'm sure your people will be asking Mike V what
- 26:10Speaker 3: are you going to do about Remandre and you know,
- 26:14Speaker 3: even Drake to but.
- 26:16Speaker 1: He'll answer it. I mean he was asked about it
- 26:18Speaker 1: on Monday.
- 26:19Speaker 3: Right, and he said, I only have twenty minutes.
- 26:21Speaker 1: No, that was Sunday. Yea said that he was asked
- 26:23Speaker 1: about it on Monday and it was like, we got
- 26:24Speaker 1: to protect the guy with the ball, which is his
- 26:26Speaker 1: big answer. We're going to practice the crap out of it,
- 26:29Speaker 1: and you have to focus as much as you know
- 26:31Speaker 1: the guys around and protect the guy with the ball,
- 26:34Speaker 1: whether that be the.
- 26:34Speaker 3: Quarterback, who's the who's going to have the ball.
- 26:36Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know. I don't know if he's going
- 26:39Speaker 1: to answer that, but yeah, that'd be interesting to see
- 26:42Speaker 1: if because he has been sort of forthcoming at times, right, right,
- 26:45Speaker 1: So normally I would say, well, he's not going to
- 26:47Speaker 1: tell you, Fred, but I'm not going to say that
- 26:48Speaker 1: now you don't know because you don't know Mike is
- 26:50Speaker 1: that's a wild card.
- 26:51Speaker 6: That's why I have to watch every Friday gets up.
- 26:53Speaker 6: He's like questionable, questionable, questionable.
- 26:56Speaker 1: So refreshing answer that's so refreshing.
- 26:59Speaker 4: So they have guys that are limited in practice during
- 27:02Speaker 4: the week a lot, and then we get to Friday
- 27:05Speaker 4: and like they might have ten guys on the injury
- 27:07Speaker 4: report today and it's like, yeah, the only guys that
- 27:09Speaker 4: have designations. Are these two dudes, Yeah, like you know,
- 27:12Speaker 4: and it's like so they're like kind of manage injuries,
- 27:15Speaker 4: I think on Wednesdays and Thursdays and Fridays. But then
- 27:18Speaker 4: when we get to it, it's like, yeah, you know,
- 27:19Speaker 4: Gonzo questionable, west Over questionable. Everybody else is fine.
- 27:24Speaker 3: Curtis and Saint Louis writes in a couple questions after
- 27:27Speaker 3: three weeks, what would you say is our biggest need
- 27:30Speaker 3: position wise? My concern for Moses durability is growing, as
- 27:35Speaker 3: you've discussed since his signing. What is our best option
- 27:38Speaker 3: if he misses significant time?
- 27:40Speaker 4: Marcus Bryant would be there, the top backup at right tackle.
- 27:44Speaker 4: But I it's only three weeks in and we'll have
- 27:48Speaker 4: six months to talk about the draft. But like looking ahead,
- 27:51Speaker 4: because I I'll tend to do me too, uh, skill positions, Like,
- 27:56Speaker 4: I really think that you've done enough. We get to
- 28:00Speaker 4: the end of the season and we think that Wilson
- 28:02Speaker 4: and Campbell can play. I think you've done enough in
- 28:05Speaker 4: the trenches that getting Drake a true number one, top
- 28:10Speaker 4: flight receiver has got to be the number one.
- 28:13Speaker 1: Yea, even if you have like there was a call
- 28:16Speaker 1: that we had that had a doomsday scenario, I think
- 28:18Speaker 1: of having those two linemen slide inside. Even if that happens,
- 28:21Speaker 1: I still wouldn't advocate taking a tackle in the first round.
- 28:26Speaker 1: I'm with Evan, they need the last two games weapons,
- 28:29Speaker 1: their last two full games. Their wide receivers have not
- 28:33Speaker 1: combined for one hundred yards. You know, the first game,
- 28:37Speaker 1: obviously you got the good, good performance by Booty. Since then,
- 28:41Speaker 1: I think they had five different receivers catch the ball
- 28:44Speaker 1: and they didn't combine for one hundred yards in either game.
- 28:48Speaker 1: They need, they need some help and the production. They
- 28:51Speaker 1: got to be better because it's hard to just throw
- 28:54Speaker 1: the ball to tight ends in running backs, and especially
- 28:57Speaker 1: when you're not running the ball all that well, they
- 28:59Speaker 1: got to find a way to get more guys involved
- 29:02Speaker 1: in bigger plays.
- 29:03Speaker 3: Lastly, Evan, I'm lockstep with you as it comes to
- 29:06Speaker 3: the Josh McDaniels is doing and what we are seeing
- 29:08Speaker 3: and getting out of digs. I do have a very
- 29:10Speaker 3: small concern that if he does not get more involved,
- 29:13Speaker 3: he may start checking out and the frustration set in.
- 29:17Speaker 3: I think they need to scheme him up for a
- 29:18Speaker 3: few plays in the end zone. Get the guy a
- 29:20Speaker 3: few touchdowns to help keep him motivated and positive.
- 29:25Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's fair. I mean, we talked a
- 29:26Speaker 4: lot about Josh McDaniels and what they're doing schematically, and
- 29:29Speaker 4: Paul just kind of mentioned it, like they're really running
- 29:31Speaker 4: the offense with the tight ends and the running backs,
- 29:34Speaker 4: and they're getting everything out of it that they possibly can.
- 29:37Speaker 4: And I think it's it's three weeks and you know,
- 29:41Speaker 4: one of the concerns I brought up is like, all right,
- 29:43Speaker 4: in December and January, when everybody kind of figures out
- 29:46Speaker 4: what you're doing, Like do you have a secondary pitch
- 29:50Speaker 4: that you can go to that is a compliment to
- 29:52Speaker 4: some of the things that they started doing in September.
- 29:54Speaker 4: But I give Josh a lot of credit for like
- 29:59Speaker 4: Hunter Henry and roman Ry Stevenson are basically the focal
- 30:01Speaker 4: points of this offense right now, and they're they're moving
- 30:05Speaker 4: the ball by orchestrating everything around those two guys. And
- 30:10Speaker 4: I'm not trying to throw shots at them, but like
- 30:12Speaker 4: that's it's not exactly you know, Sekwon Barkley and you
- 30:18Speaker 4: know George Kittle right, like a right, I can't think
- 30:21Speaker 4: of it, No.
- 30:22Speaker 1: I get it, and I've been with it. Mike and
- 30:24Speaker 1: I have been talking about this, you know, a lot
- 30:28Speaker 1: in the bullpen. It's, you know, so they want to
- 30:30Speaker 1: be you know, they're not saying they want to They
- 30:32Speaker 1: have been relying on twelve personnel a lot, and it's
- 30:36Speaker 1: and it's worked, and I saw a great thing with
- 30:38Speaker 1: Dane Rolovski yesterday talking about that. But I think that
- 30:42Speaker 1: one of the advantages you get from that is it
- 30:44Speaker 1: really allows you to sort of dictate what the defense
- 30:47Speaker 1: is going to do. If the defense wants to play bass,
- 30:49Speaker 1: you you know, you maybe you do some different things
- 30:52Speaker 1: and create some matchups with your tight ends on linebackers.
- 30:55Speaker 1: If they want to go nickel, then obviously you just
- 30:58Speaker 1: power up and run it at them. They're not run
- 31:00Speaker 1: the ball well enough right now to take advantage of those.
- 31:03Speaker 1: So at some point, to Evan's point, if you continue
- 31:06Speaker 1: to do this twelve personnel and teams are going to
- 31:08Speaker 1: adjust to it, At what point does it the opposition say, well,
- 31:13Speaker 1: if they want to run, I'm just gonna let him run.
- 31:15Speaker 1: I'm going to make sure I keep you know, some
- 31:17Speaker 1: coverage out here and not allow Hunter Henry to get
- 31:20Speaker 1: five catches for ninety yards or whatever it.
- 31:22Speaker 4: Was ninety eight, they had some good Gibson had some
- 31:26Speaker 4: good first down runs on duo, you know, running behind
- 31:28Speaker 4: the double teams in the last game. But your larger
- 31:31Speaker 4: point is right, and you know, the big matchups, like
- 31:35Speaker 4: they came out in twelve personnel with the tight end
- 31:37Speaker 4: in the backfield and the split back, and they ran
- 31:39Speaker 4: a play for eighteen yards on a wheel to Hunter
- 31:42Speaker 4: Henry where they got the Steelers in base defense, and
- 31:46Speaker 4: then they got them in base with the twelve with
- 31:48Speaker 4: the two tight ends, and then they spread the field
- 31:50Speaker 4: and they had Hunter Henry on a linebacker and they
- 31:53Speaker 4: actually had Mac Collins with Jabriel Pepper's on him in
- 31:56Speaker 4: the slot on a deep crossing route. And like, those
- 31:59Speaker 4: are the types of matchup that that formation and that
- 32:02Speaker 4: personnel grouping can present if defenses have to play bass
- 32:07Speaker 4: at against you in twelve. You know, the Detroit Lions
- 32:09Speaker 4: right now are probably doing this on steroids. Like they're
- 32:12Speaker 4: the ones that are kind of the bells of the
- 32:14Speaker 4: ball in this regard. But you know, to Paul's point,
- 32:16Speaker 4: like if you put three corner nickel out there and
- 32:19Speaker 4: you're only giving up three and a half four yards
- 32:21Speaker 4: of carry, then you kind of live with that, and
- 32:23Speaker 4: then you don't have the matchups of Henry on a linebacker,
- 32:27Speaker 4: a receiver on a safety, and like that's that's the
- 32:30Speaker 4: schemed open things that Josh is kind of creating right
- 32:32Speaker 4: now with those formations.
- 32:33Speaker 6: Yeah, that was exactly what me and Paul were talking
- 32:35Speaker 6: about this morning, and it starts with cleaning up the mistakes.
- 32:38Speaker 6: But cleaning up the mistakes isn't going to be enough,
- 32:40Speaker 6: especially as you said, like getting later into the season.
- 32:43Speaker 6: We talked a little about the twenty one season where
- 32:44Speaker 6: it came out Mac was kind of dealing and then yeah,
- 32:47Speaker 6: after the buye it seemed like they had kind of
- 32:49Speaker 6: figured him out.
- 32:50Speaker 1: Was that a Mac thing? Was that a Josh thing?
- 32:52Speaker 6: Was that another instance of just you don't have a
- 32:54Speaker 6: second punch that emerges, You don't have those wide receivers emerging.
- 32:58Speaker 6: So yeah, I agree with with what you guys are saying.
- 33:00Speaker 6: Those They got to find a way to get production
- 33:02Speaker 6: and whether it's given Kyle Williams more of an opportunity,
- 33:06Speaker 6: seeing a little bit more digs, giving Chisholm a chance, eventually,
- 33:10Speaker 6: I think they got to continue to push those buttons
- 33:11Speaker 6: and try to find a way to just see some
- 33:13Speaker 6: chemistry with Drake I think will be good.
- 33:15Speaker 1: And that's why I am encouraged, because I do feel
- 33:18Speaker 1: like in twenty one it was kind of smoke and mirrors.
- 33:21Speaker 1: I don't think the offense was as good as the
- 33:22Speaker 1: numbers suggested, but I do think that largely I felt
- 33:26Speaker 1: that way because I thought there was limitations with the
- 33:28Speaker 1: quarterback that I do not feel exist.
- 33:31Speaker 3: Now.
- 33:32Speaker 1: There are no limitations with your quarterback. In my view,
- 33:35Speaker 1: I think he's capable of doing anything that Josh McDaniels
- 33:37Speaker 1: could possibly want, just a matter of getting I think
- 33:40Speaker 1: more playmakers in here to help them out. Yeah, I
- 33:43Speaker 1: totally agree with that.
- 33:44Speaker 6: I was thinking about the same thing last night, and
- 33:46Speaker 6: it's just it's hard to not think about that position.
- 33:48Speaker 6: I would also, I would just throw in a couple
- 33:50Speaker 6: other spots though, of like, you know, Austin Hooper's going
- 33:52Speaker 6: to be up, he's been really solid, But do you
- 33:55Speaker 6: look at some of these young tight ends.
- 33:56Speaker 1: Maybe amid day two selection gets a guy with a
- 33:59Speaker 1: little bit of.
- 33:59Speaker 6: Ju in that spot. And then on the defensive side,
- 34:02Speaker 6: I think Chase On's up. You need a young edge.
- 34:04Speaker 6: Talked a lot about that. Who's going to be next
- 34:06Speaker 6: to displaying long term for the next couple of years.
- 34:08Speaker 6: I'd look there, and i'd also look at the safety spot.
- 34:10Speaker 6: I think that's really a critical position in this defense
- 34:13Speaker 6: that I'm not sure they quite have the personality just yet.
- 34:16Speaker 3: I want to start off this is an email. I
- 34:18Speaker 3: want to start off as saying I'm not the same
- 34:20Speaker 3: net Nate in Connecticut that's been calling you regularly for
- 34:23Speaker 3: a few months. Well, then, Nate and Connecticut, you're gonna
- 34:25Speaker 3: have to come up with a different name, like Nate
- 34:27Speaker 3: two in Connecticut or Nate Squared or something.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 34:30Speaker 3: Anyway, I've been listening to your show since six o seven, nice,
- 34:35Speaker 3: and I've even emailed a few times. I wanted to
- 34:37Speaker 3: say I agree with Fred and Evan. There is something
- 34:40Speaker 3: about the Patriots this year that makes me so encourage
- 34:42Speaker 3: for the future. It seems like a different team. I
- 34:45Speaker 3: just hope they can stop shooting themselves in the foot
- 34:47Speaker 3: multiple times a game. And I kind of agree with
- 34:50Speaker 3: Fred at blitz should be when a team is rushing
- 34:52Speaker 3: more players than there are blockers.
- 34:54Speaker 1: Well, there you go. I like this Nate in Connecticut
- 34:58Speaker 1: that I'd.
- 34:58Speaker 4: Like to get like David Ane in here to talk
- 35:01Speaker 4: about Mike points and protections and if you're sliding this
- 35:07Speaker 4: way and then they bring them.
- 35:09Speaker 3: Okay, well maybe maybe if you overload a side that's
- 35:13Speaker 3: a blitz, maybe we could agree there.
- 35:16Speaker 4: Yes, okay maybe, but it.
- 35:18Speaker 1: Doesn't matter such a philosophical discussion.
- 35:22Speaker 3: I just remember Bill Belichick saying that that it's when
- 35:26Speaker 3: you have more people than you can block.
- 35:28Speaker 4: Yeah, he was big on I remember specifically, the five
- 35:32Speaker 4: man rushes are not blitzeres to him, like when you
- 35:35Speaker 4: have five guys on the line of scrimmage that all rush.
- 35:38Speaker 4: He did not consider that, Like that's a to him,
- 35:40Speaker 4: that's like an old school three four right, Like that's
- 35:43Speaker 4: not you're not rushing, you're not blitzing there. But I digress, all.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Right, whatever?
- 35:50Speaker 3: Uh. Jeremiah writes and Paul and Evan have been saying
- 35:53Speaker 3: what I've been advocating for after the whole thing with
- 35:56Speaker 3: Pop last game, which is put digs in the slot.
- 35:59Speaker 3: The slot is too big of a position in this
- 36:01Speaker 3: offense to not have them on the same page with
- 36:03Speaker 3: the quarterback. I wouldn't want to cut Pop out of
- 36:06Speaker 3: the offense entirely, just decreases snaps and make up for
- 36:10Speaker 3: lost speed in the offense by using Williams and Henderson more.
- 36:14Speaker 4: I think it's time to see a little Kyle Williams.
- 36:16Speaker 4: I agree with that. I like that even if it's
- 36:20Speaker 4: just a limited routree where he's just basically running like
- 36:22Speaker 4: posting go routes and deep crossers and things like, he
- 36:26Speaker 4: doesn't have to reinvent the wheel. But what the very
- 36:29Speaker 4: little that we've seen of him, I actually have liked
- 36:32Speaker 4: all of the routes that he has run. I think
- 36:34Speaker 4: he's gotten open. I think he's caught the ball when
- 36:36Speaker 4: it's thrown his way. So I think it's time to
- 36:39Speaker 4: see a little bit of Kyle Williams because he just
- 36:41Speaker 4: he might be just a more complete like traditional receiver
- 36:45Speaker 4: compared to Pop, where a Pop I think is probably
- 36:48Speaker 4: a gadget player that on this team is being used
- 36:51Speaker 4: as a full time receiver.
- 36:54Speaker 1: Snaps have gone down, yeah, especially in Miami. But even
- 36:58Speaker 1: in this game, he didn't play as much as did
- 36:59Speaker 1: in the first game. Right that. I don't have the
- 37:02Speaker 1: exact numbers. It's one of those that I get in trouble.
- 37:04Speaker 4: I'll John Gruden he played a little bit more in
- 37:06Speaker 4: this one.
- 37:07Speaker 1: He played more this one than he did in Miami,
- 37:09Speaker 1: but I don't think I think he played more in
- 37:10Speaker 1: the Raiders than he did neither of the other two.
- 37:12Speaker 3: Probably all right, eight five to five Pats five hundred
- 37:15Speaker 3: is the hot line, as you can see on the screen.
- 37:19Speaker 1: Hot line.
- 37:20Speaker 3: Let's go to the phones. We'll start with our friend
- 37:24Speaker 3: Christian in La. What's up? Christian nine snawy you guys good?
- 37:29Speaker 8: It's pay Hello, Paul, how you been my cranky brother?
- 37:32Speaker 1: Hey? How are you hey?
- 37:33Speaker 9: So I'm thinking that if we were to play exactly
- 37:37Speaker 9: like we played last week, minus the the turnovers, I
- 37:42Speaker 9: think we win this game going away. You're right that
- 37:45Speaker 9: Bryce Young seems to be sort of one trick pony
- 37:47Speaker 9: as far as where he wants to go with the
- 37:49Speaker 9: ball and legit as the bus. So if we take
- 37:51Speaker 9: away the middle, which I think we have the talent too,
- 37:55Speaker 9: I don't think the game is going to be as
- 37:56Speaker 9: difficult as this point of making it out deep. I
- 37:59Speaker 9: think we really have coalesced, at least in the idea
- 38:03Speaker 9: of how we want to play the game. So I'm
- 38:05Speaker 9: happy about that. My real question for you guys is this,
- 38:09Speaker 9: speaking of the turnovers last week and going to have
- 38:11Speaker 9: those backs, if you guys could go back in your
- 38:14Speaker 9: entire sports career and play one game over, just to.
- 38:17Speaker 10: Do over game.
- 38:18Speaker 9: What game would it be and what thing would you
- 38:20Speaker 9: do that would either or undo that could have changed
- 38:24Speaker 9: the outcome of that game. Okay, I'll take it up
- 38:27Speaker 9: the air.
- 38:28Speaker 3: This is our personal sports career that we're talking about here.
- 38:32Speaker 4: I don't, I mean I do.
- 38:34Speaker 1: I do.
- 38:35Speaker 3: But you look at a third strike and a bay
- 38:38Speaker 3: Ruth All. I'm sure I'd like to have that one back.
- 38:41Speaker 6: I definitely have one, But I feel like if I
- 38:43Speaker 6: changed the result of that game, it would have altered
- 38:45Speaker 6: my whole trajectory and Lily, So I don't think I
- 38:49Speaker 6: could do it, but it would. If I had to
- 38:51Speaker 6: pick one, it would have been my junior year first
- 38:52Speaker 6: state playoff game where we played Charlestown and they had
- 38:55Speaker 6: a kid playing goalie who had never played goal before
- 38:57Speaker 6: because their goalie got hurt, and we some how lost
- 39:00Speaker 6: to the team three to two, And I probably should
- 39:01Speaker 6: have had at least three goals, but I just.
- 39:03Speaker 1: Didn't couldn't score, which was the theme of my career anyway.
- 39:06Speaker 6: But but if I could go back and score those goals,
- 39:08Speaker 6: we should have beaten that you lost to Charlestowns in hockey.
- 39:11Speaker 1: So that's why it's the one game I would go
- 39:12Speaker 1: back and change.
- 39:13Speaker 6: That's but it was not just Charlestown, but with a
- 39:15Speaker 6: kid playing goal who hadn't played goal.
- 39:17Speaker 3: That must be a hero.
- 39:18Speaker 1: That oh man, they lost the next round. It was.
- 39:22Speaker 1: It was terrible. But that Charlie Coyle. There was no
- 39:26Speaker 1: one in there. They're probably all there was. There is
- 39:29Speaker 1: some of them are from Charlestown, but they don't play
- 39:31Speaker 1: for Charles.
- 39:34Speaker 4: That's who it was.
- 39:36Speaker 6: Yeah, but have we won that game, then I probably
- 39:38Speaker 6: wouldn't end up leaving that school.
- 39:40Speaker 1: And I think like that loss was the big reason
- 39:41Speaker 1: I lost.
- 39:42Speaker 4: So wow, it all worked out.
- 39:44Speaker 3: It all worked out.
- 39:45Speaker 1: That's why I wouldn't change it. But it was like
- 39:47Speaker 1: you played a lot of games. Sometimes came through at
- 39:49Speaker 1: the end. Sometimes I didn't let it go. I remember
- 39:52Speaker 1: misplaying a fly ball with two outs in the last
- 39:54Speaker 1: inning and allowed the tying and winning go ahead runs
- 39:56Speaker 1: to score. In the last inning of a senior baby
- 39:59Speaker 1: rooth game, I caught my spike. I told the story,
- 40:02Speaker 1: and I caught my spike and my stirrup and as
- 40:04Speaker 1: I was walking back, drifting back tripped over myself, made
- 40:08Speaker 1: a fool of myself. There were girls there. Very traumatic,
- 40:14Speaker 1: very traumatic.
- 40:15Speaker 3: His Italian horn hit in the eye.
- 40:23Speaker 1: It's like seventeen. It was very embarrassing. I was too
- 40:27Speaker 1: old to just be able to you know, fluff off
- 40:30Speaker 1: a bad error, you know.
- 40:30Speaker 6: Speaking of that was we had a funny interaction we
- 40:32Speaker 6: were I was talking with Kellen, our camera guy in
- 40:35Speaker 6: the locker room on Monday, and we were talking about Scatibo,
- 40:37Speaker 6: who you know, had a really fun game, and right
- 40:40Speaker 6: as Tommy DaVita was walking bys, funny they got they
- 40:43Speaker 6: got a mic up scatter bow, and DeVito just kind
- 40:46Speaker 6: of stopped and turned and was like, could never do it,
- 40:48Speaker 6: could never do it.
- 40:50Speaker 1: They could never do that. It's funny.
- 40:53Speaker 3: Sean, Deshaun and Virginia, what's up, good, Sean.
- 41:01Speaker 10: I want to look through what the first person said
- 41:03Speaker 10: in their email and basically about to lose to I
- 41:06Speaker 10: was about to lose to you guys. Well as far
- 41:08Speaker 10: as like I don't think that you can basically overlook
- 41:11Speaker 10: any team on this schedule when it comes as far
- 41:13Speaker 10: as what the Pats should be able to do, or
- 41:15Speaker 10: with what the Fats to be able to do, or
- 41:16Speaker 10: what they should not be able to do until because
- 41:20Speaker 10: the offense lacks so much explosiveness or whatever. Like, when
- 41:23Speaker 10: you have to work so hard to move the ball
- 41:25Speaker 10: to score, to try to score points, it makes itself
- 41:28Speaker 10: a lot more prone for turnovers. Yeah, if anybody expects,
- 41:31Speaker 10: you know, the just to roll in a lot of
- 41:33Speaker 10: these games or whatever or even have a chance of
- 41:35Speaker 10: you know, pulling these games out, you got to be
- 41:37Speaker 10: able to score. That's the bottom line.
- 41:40Speaker 3: Yeah, where the team? Where the team that Bill Belichick said,
- 41:43Speaker 3: We're going to make them march down the field because
- 41:46Speaker 3: I think they're going to make a mistake. Yeah, you
- 41:48Speaker 3: know where that team right now?
- 41:50Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly.
- 41:52Speaker 10: So you have to do that two league times. It
- 41:55Speaker 10: makes you a lot more prone for mistakes, you know.
- 41:58Speaker 10: And then when people talk about also while we're I
- 42:00Speaker 10: want to touch on two with Stevenson, Stevens said fumble not
- 42:04Speaker 10: only with Bill Bulatech, but he also has done it
- 42:06Speaker 10: with Mayo and now he's doing it with Brave. So
- 42:09Speaker 10: when people talk them, oh yeah, you can try to
- 42:11Speaker 10: coach it out, you can't. It depends on like I said,
- 42:14Speaker 10: it depends on the player. The player's got to be
- 42:16Speaker 10: able to make shore that he fought getting the gym
- 42:19Speaker 10: and improve his grips strains telling on to the ball. Yeah,
- 42:22Speaker 10: coach that that's just the bottom line.
- 42:24Speaker 1: Yep, thanks Sean to that point.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Angelo in New York, right, Sin, he went in looked
- 42:30Speaker 3: at Stevenson in college. Cerrito College, he had three fumbles
- 42:33Speaker 3: two hundred and twenty two carries, one every seventy four.
- 42:36Speaker 3: At Oklahoma he had three four one hundred and sixty five,
- 42:39Speaker 3: one ever fifty one every fifty five carries, and so
- 42:43Speaker 3: far in his NFL career as a fumble every sixty carries.
- 42:46Speaker 3: The NFL running back average is one every ninety three.
- 42:52Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 42:52Speaker 4: Well, he also didn't really have fumbling issues early on
- 42:55Speaker 4: in his career. This is really like a two year thing.
- 42:58Speaker 4: I mean going back to last season. You know, it
- 43:01Speaker 4: didn't really have a ton of fumbles in twenty one
- 43:03Speaker 4: or twenty two. I mean, maybe a couple, but it wasn't.
- 43:06Speaker 1: He fumbled in his first game and then Bill put
- 43:07Speaker 1: him on the bench for a month. Yeah.
- 43:09Speaker 4: Yeah, it's a really hard spot for them to be in.
- 43:12Speaker 1: And yeah, I didn't. So I did see something with
- 43:16Speaker 1: Devin mccordy which I thought was interesting and I think
- 43:20Speaker 1: he was talking with Florio on Derrick Henry specifically with
- 43:25Speaker 1: his fumbling issue, who, by the way, is fumbled. Sorry,
- 43:27Speaker 1: Mike fumbled once in each of the first three games.
- 43:31Speaker 1: Docking largely cost his team two of those games with
- 43:34Speaker 1: those fumbles. Dev was talking about the elbow being too low,
- 43:40Speaker 1: and he understands that not everybody's going to do the
- 43:42Speaker 1: tiki barber, you know, like the high and tight. But
- 43:46Speaker 1: he said, when the elbow is low like that, it
- 43:49Speaker 1: just exposes so much of the ball. And he goes
- 43:52Speaker 1: the defensive backs are just looking at that as an
- 43:54Speaker 1: invitation to come in with a punch, and he sort
- 43:57Speaker 1: of demonstrated how you could change that angle a little
- 43:59Speaker 1: bit and give much less to to get at. And
- 44:03Speaker 1: he was talking again about Derek Henry, not about Rimondre Stevenson.
- 44:06Speaker 1: But I think that if you looked at it, there's
- 44:08Speaker 1: some similarities there. I thought both of those fumbles were
- 44:11Speaker 1: really weak fumbles for Stevenson on Sunday. Actually the one, yeah,
- 44:16Speaker 1: it was just kind of like someone touched the ball.
- 44:18Speaker 1: It wasn't a punch or anything.
- 44:20Speaker 4: I hope him just like had his hand on the
- 44:22Speaker 4: ball when he was tackling him. The second one, Cam Hayward,
- 44:25Speaker 4: I think might have got a hand in there and
- 44:27Speaker 4: punched at it. But I think that that's all valid
- 44:32Speaker 4: points like from Devin. Obviously it's good analysis, but like,
- 44:35Speaker 4: don't you think that these things have already been.
- 44:37Speaker 1: That's what's about, That's what's frustrating. This has been such
- 44:39Speaker 1: a huge issue too. Yeah, all we talked about last year.
- 44:42Speaker 4: And then he also said that in the off season
- 44:44Speaker 4: he was working with weighted footballs to like work on
- 44:48Speaker 4: his like grip strength and the you know, the forearm
- 44:51Speaker 4: strength while he was carrying the ball to so.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Did just figure out how that would help? Like, what
- 44:57Speaker 1: about a lighter football? This is all, well, it's.
- 45:00Speaker 3: Just having more weight, just build up a bit.
- 45:03Speaker 6: I would make like a light, slippery football that was
- 45:05Speaker 6: like really hard to hold my point.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Made out of helium.
- 45:09Speaker 4: He's tried like a lot of these things, and he
- 45:12Speaker 4: keeps putting the ball on the ground. So it's just
- 45:14Speaker 4: that's a demoralizing part is that it's not like he
- 45:16Speaker 4: hasn't been coached on it. They're trying, you.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Know what Caroline is talking about this week, same thing.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Well, Kevin writes in and he's in mass somewhere he said,
- 45:27Speaker 3: if you check out Remandre Stevenson unmockable mock draft table
- 45:31Speaker 3: dot com, you find that he's in the twentieth percentile
- 45:34Speaker 3: for running backs in both hand size and arm length.
- 45:37Speaker 3: I mean, this is the root cause of his fumbling issues.
- 45:40Speaker 3: Ball doesn't sit well on his forearm, and the hand
- 45:42Speaker 3: grap grip is weaker than a larger hand would have.
- 45:46Speaker 3: I would venture to guess that for a bigger body
- 45:48Speaker 3: power back, his short arms and small hands are even
- 45:51Speaker 3: more of an outlier if you remove the smaller third
- 45:54Speaker 3: down receiving running backs from the data set. I fear
- 45:57Speaker 3: that technique improvements will never overcome this physical liability.
- 46:02Speaker 4: It's interesting, interesting, Ober, I don't know, twenty percentile, Like
- 46:06Speaker 4: we're not talking about like the zero percent baby hand. Yeah,
- 46:10Speaker 4: Like twenty percentile means that there's still quite a bit
- 46:13Speaker 4: of running backs that have his hand size that.
- 46:16Speaker 1: Don't fumble nine times in the last However, now to
- 46:19Speaker 1: your point, he didn't fumble a lot in twenty one
- 46:22Speaker 1: and twenty two.
- 46:22Speaker 4: Yeah, Like we did this with you know, dull percent
- 46:25Speaker 4: like Will Campbell's like arm length and wingspan is like
- 46:29Speaker 4: like one or zero percentile for tackles that's an outlier,
- 46:33Speaker 4: like twentieth percentile. I think we're getting into the category
- 46:36Speaker 4: of like there's enough of people that have succeeded with that.
- 46:39Speaker 6: I mean, I keep landing on this space of I
- 46:42Speaker 6: don't think you can. You just don't have the personnel
- 46:44Speaker 6: to jettison him now. But do you even if he
- 46:49Speaker 6: doesn't fumble the rest of the season, do you get
- 46:50Speaker 6: to this offseason and you say, Okay, like this has
- 46:54Speaker 6: been an issue, he wasn't our guy. Let's get one
- 46:57Speaker 6: of our guys in here.
- 46:58Speaker 3: Let me see the rest of the season.
- 47:01Speaker 1: I had, you know, because I think what Fred's alluding
- 47:04Speaker 1: to I would sort of agree with. So just saying
- 47:09Speaker 1: he doesn't fumble again the rest of the season doesn't
- 47:11Speaker 1: give me enough of the pitcher, Like does he run differently?
- 47:15Speaker 1: You know, is he not as productive because he's being
- 47:17Speaker 1: too cautious as he runs? You know, if he doesn't
- 47:20Speaker 1: fumble any super productive, let's just say, let's just say
- 47:23Speaker 1: he's really really good. I think there's a good chance
- 47:26Speaker 1: that he's not going to be back next year. Even
- 47:28Speaker 1: if that happens. Man, I think that we sort of
- 47:31Speaker 1: talked about the guys that you circleed that weren't quite
- 47:34Speaker 1: ready financially, Duger Owenu Stevenson. Maybe it wasn't in your
- 47:39Speaker 1: best interest to let them go now because it would
- 47:41Speaker 1: have cost you more than it would have saved you,
- 47:43Speaker 1: or whatever the case. Accurate, It's clear that Mike is
- 47:48Speaker 1: looking to sort of turn the roster over and you know,
- 47:51Speaker 1: surround himself with his guys quote unquote, not an uncommon
- 47:55Speaker 1: thing for all coaches. Fred uh and Maddie Nosacks had
- 47:59Speaker 1: a chance to talk to Bill Parcels over the weekend,
- 48:02Speaker 1: and that was one of the things I think, Fred,
- 48:04Speaker 1: you asked Parcels about you like you are guys. Parcels guys,
- 48:07Speaker 1: and you know how the circle the waggon kind of guys.
- 48:10Speaker 1: I think that's a common thing for a coach to
- 48:12Speaker 1: want to be around guys that he's more comfortable with.
- 48:15Speaker 1: It wouldn't surprise me even if he does sort of
- 48:17Speaker 1: solve the fumbling problem and he has a really productive
- 48:21Speaker 1: finish to the season, if they're looking to move on anyway.
- 48:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Daniels in California.
- 48:27Speaker 1: Heye, Daniel, there, you guys doing good.
- 48:33Speaker 11: So my question is I'm sorry, like I agree with
- 48:36Speaker 11: you guys when you guys talking a couple of minutes
- 48:37Speaker 11: ago about the receiving like production in the offense. So
- 48:41Speaker 11: my question is, like, looking around the league, which receiving
- 48:45Speaker 11: like situation are you like kind of keeping an eye on.
- 48:50Speaker 11: I think I know we're just still in a rebuilding stage,
- 48:53Speaker 11: but I think we should definitely try to be active
- 48:55Speaker 11: in the trade deadline. You know, personally, I'm selfish, selfishy wanting.
- 49:00Speaker 1: Uh A J.
- 49:01Speaker 11: Brown keep getting frustrated with the Eagles offense so we
- 49:04Speaker 11: can make a call for him. But I know that's
- 49:05Speaker 11: probably not realistic, But I just want to get your
- 49:08Speaker 11: thoughts on like maybe other situations you're looking at, and
- 49:10Speaker 11: I can stick it off there.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Okay, thanks Daniel, I mean A J. Brown's awesome. I
- 49:14Speaker 1: would definitely, I mean I want AJ Brown. I just
- 49:17Speaker 1: wanted someone to explain to me why Philadelphia is trading
- 49:20Speaker 1: him to anybody, forget you, anybody. I just don't see it.
- 49:25Speaker 1: But I absolutely would agree with Daniel. I think that's
- 49:28Speaker 1: the kind of move if you think that there's some
- 49:30Speaker 1: frustration with AJ Brown in Philadelphia, be proactive. Yeah, you
- 49:35Speaker 1: know what's you know, I hear Aj is not happy.
- 49:38Speaker 1: You know, Rabel knows him as a has a relationship
- 49:41Speaker 1: with him. You know what, you know, what do you guys? Look?
- 49:43Speaker 1: You know what I get that you don't want to
- 49:45Speaker 1: trade them? You know Howie, I get it. You know
- 49:48Speaker 1: what would it take?
- 49:49Speaker 6: But hypothetically, But going back to what Evan said, I
- 49:51Speaker 6: think that's be proactive. You know, I haven't always been
- 49:53Speaker 6: on board with those moves, but now I feel like
- 49:56Speaker 6: you're getting to a point where if there was an elite,
- 50:00Speaker 6: a wide receiver who wants out those kind of trades
- 50:02Speaker 6: that happen all the time, that I'd be, I think.
- 50:04Speaker 1: Very interested, and I wouldn't want to overextend he's in
- 50:07Speaker 1: the age that I would do it. Yeah, he's an
- 50:09Speaker 1: established star who's thirty, has plenty left. You know, I
- 50:13Speaker 1: would have been interested in McLaurin, even though he's a
- 50:15Speaker 1: little old. Now, this is what happens when these guys,
- 50:18Speaker 1: by the way, take the whole summer off. I don't
- 50:22Speaker 1: know what he's dealing with exactly. I guess there's some
- 50:24Speaker 1: questions with McLaurin, and whether it's a quad or something else.
- 50:27Speaker 1: It looks like he's not going to practice today. That's
- 50:29Speaker 1: what happens when you don't do anything all summer. Yeah.
- 50:31Speaker 6: I mean you've probably got a draft pick, hopefully that
- 50:33Speaker 6: isn't too high in the first round, but that still
- 50:35Speaker 6: has enough value that you know, I put it on
- 50:37Speaker 6: the table for a legit guy, especially with Drake for
- 50:40Speaker 6: these final couple of years of his rookie deal.
- 50:43Speaker 1: Like you feel like the offensive line might be in shape.
- 50:46Speaker 6: I mean, again, we're speculating because I don't take going
- 50:49Speaker 6: to the callers that like, you can't count on anything.
- 50:51Speaker 6: Like I like what I've seen in this team. There
- 50:52Speaker 6: are positive elements, but I need them to go out
- 50:54Speaker 6: like this weekend and be like, wow, no penalties, no turnovers.
- 50:59Speaker 1: Bound offense, hit some plays downfield.
- 51:01Speaker 6: Defense looked like they did in the middle of the
- 51:03Speaker 6: last week's game for the entirety, you know, and then
- 51:05Speaker 6: you can really start to have even more evidence to
- 51:07Speaker 6: get on board with it. But I have seen elements
- 51:10Speaker 6: of it, but week three.
- 51:11Speaker 1: We need more. And whether whether that happens or not,
- 51:14Speaker 1: I think AJ Brown is the kind of player at
- 51:17Speaker 1: the age where he could be part of your future.
- 51:20Speaker 1: So whether you're doing it for this year or the
- 51:22Speaker 1: long term is fine with me, because I think you
- 51:24Speaker 1: can absolutely make an argument that no, no, no, he's a
- 51:27Speaker 1: long term solution, you know, like Harold Landry has been
- 51:31Speaker 1: terrific and I think he's really helped the front seven.
- 51:35Speaker 1: By the time you're a Super Bowl contender, he's probably
- 51:37Speaker 1: not going to be part of the equation. And that's okay.
- 51:39Speaker 1: You need some guys like that too that allow you
- 51:42Speaker 1: to make that ascension from four wins to where you
- 51:45Speaker 1: want to be. Yeah, I was thinking about that same things.
- 51:49Speaker 6: He's been great, you know, but I think the exact
- 51:51Speaker 6: same thing of like, he's been great, how long is
- 51:53Speaker 6: he going to have Can we get a guy behind
- 51:55Speaker 6: him to kind of mold behind him? But I just
- 51:58Speaker 6: connected to Drake and say, Drake's on a rookie deal
- 52:01Speaker 6: for the next couple of years.
- 52:02Speaker 1: It's okay to be aggressive.
- 52:03Speaker 6: It's okay to maybe burn a high round draft pick
- 52:05Speaker 6: to really try to give him that guy.
- 52:07Speaker 1: Give him the guy, all.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Right, Boston Cream's on the line. What's up, Boston Cream?
- 52:14Speaker 2: Dude?
- 52:14Speaker 12: Hey, hey, uh, what do you guys think about Bill
- 52:18Speaker 12: Belichick's girlfriend being on the sideline?
- 52:20Speaker 9: And then I have another question.
- 52:22Speaker 3: I think it's ridiculous.
- 52:23Speaker 13: Yeah, can you imagine if that happened in New England?
- 52:28Speaker 6: I would love to hear what the conversation was, but no,
- 52:31Speaker 6: Bill's trying to get ready for the game. I'm not
- 52:32Speaker 6: sure I think she should know this by now.
- 52:36Speaker 13: And then my second question is, now that Julian Edelman
- 52:39Speaker 13: is in the Patriots Hall of Fame, can we get
- 52:42Speaker 13: in the true MVP of Super Bowl three?
- 52:45Speaker 8: James Devlin? Is that possible?
- 52:48Speaker 1: Well?
- 52:48Speaker 3: I know Andy Hart's writing letters as we speak. But yeah, okay, yeah, okay,
- 52:56Speaker 3: all right, bye, okay, bye bye.
- 53:00Speaker 1: Expecting more from him? Yeah, yeah, yeah, this is a standard.
- 53:03Speaker 1: Was didn't meet the standard at the comedic chops where
- 53:05Speaker 1: you didn't meet the standard? All right, you know, not
- 53:08Speaker 1: all hits.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Just remember we're gonna be going a Vrabel when he
- 53:11Speaker 3: goes live in a minute or so. But Chris with
- 53:16Speaker 3: a T I A N right sin, he says, call
- 53:19Speaker 3: Kevin Falk he had issues fumbling early in his career,
- 53:22Speaker 3: but clean them up quite nicely. Although it's not exactly
- 53:25Speaker 3: early in Madre's career. I don't recall fuck fumbling much
- 53:29Speaker 3: during his tenure, more so during the Carrol era than
- 53:32Speaker 3: the Belichick era, for sure. Yeah he did, remember he
- 53:36Speaker 3: was wearing those pads with the dots for the Belichick era.
- 53:40Speaker 1: Yeah, he only played one year for Carol. Yeah, no,
- 53:43Speaker 1: he did. Yeah, but he cleaned it up. He did
- 53:45Speaker 1: clean it up. But I think his touch is also
- 53:48Speaker 1: like to it's not really the same because there's a
- 53:51Speaker 1: third down back. But he absolutely cleaned it up. He
- 53:54Speaker 1: didn't fumble as much, I want to say, like like
- 53:58Speaker 1: oh three oh four or he had some fumbles that
- 54:02Speaker 1: were big and then he kind of cleaned it up.
- 54:04Speaker 1: Three and ninety nine. Uh yeah, six in two thousand. Yeah,
- 54:10Speaker 1: that's that's Belichick. That's his first year. Yeah. Two in
- 54:12Speaker 1: two thousand and one. One in two thousand and two,
- 54:16Speaker 1: he had a huge one in pittsgroll three in O
- 54:19Speaker 1: four he had a huge one in that Thanksgiving a
- 54:22Speaker 1: Halloween game in Pittsburgh on the screen. Oh yeah, there
- 54:28Speaker 1: it is. Okay, Eldrid, you're laughing at me. You are No, No,
- 54:34Speaker 1: I deserve that.
- 54:35Speaker 3: Go ahead, Eldred.
- 54:37Speaker 1: All right, Hey, hey.
- 54:39Speaker 14: Y'all doing that?
- 54:40Speaker 1: All right?
- 54:41Speaker 14: Looking, I'm not wearing the Carolina Panthers jersey this week?
- 54:45Speaker 3: Got that?
- 54:46Speaker 14: So you tell the Bulls to come out and play?
- 54:48Speaker 1: No, I get that one, Eldrid. This is so you know,
- 54:51Speaker 1: you remember during the summer, you know, or even probably
- 54:54Speaker 1: earlier than the summer. You know, back in the off season,
- 54:57Speaker 1: like the Mindless, if you could guarantee one game, uh
- 55:02Speaker 1: do you remember that, like for the Patriots would win.
- 55:05Speaker 1: This was the game I picked home against Carolina. If
- 55:08Speaker 1: I had any game that I had, but the most
- 55:10Speaker 1: confidence in it was between this one and at New Orleans.
- 55:13Speaker 1: And because this one's at home, I took this one.
- 55:17Speaker 1: So I agree with you, Eldred. I don't want to
- 55:18Speaker 1: see where in any of those Carolina jerseys down there
- 55:22Speaker 1: me either. I don't want to know.
- 55:23Speaker 14: The defensive is kind of tough and evid he met
- 55:27Speaker 14: like like I said, it came advertised, you might not
- 55:30Speaker 14: have that furnace speed, BEI got the NFL speed. Once
- 55:32Speaker 14: he get opened, he's gone.
- 55:34Speaker 1: If you can catch you savaging over fifteen yards of touch.
- 55:38Speaker 1: So he is, yeah, yeah, that's what I was saying.
- 55:42Speaker 14: So he's damn good, damn good.
- 55:44Speaker 1: Yeah, he's played well.
- 55:46Speaker 14: One guy who.
- 55:47Speaker 10: One guy wish we were trading for.
- 55:48Speaker 14: I'm gonna keep holling, well, you get mad. Ad Mitchell
- 55:52Speaker 14: hits the little set too because he's not getting enough
- 55:54Speaker 14: playing time. But he do produce once he gets out there.
- 55:57Speaker 14: That's how it talk to you later.
- 55:59Speaker 1: Okay, Yeah, I mean those are the kinds of guys
- 56:02Speaker 1: that I think more realistic, you know, guys that are
- 56:05Speaker 1: fourth and fifth options for their teams. Let's go to
- 56:09Speaker 1: Mike Rabel stylish.
- 56:13Speaker 4: Do you anticipate being able to ramp up Christian Gonzalez
- 56:18Speaker 4: this week in hopes of possibly playing Saturn?
- 56:22Speaker 15: Yeah, I think that that's the that's the plan, you know,
- 56:27Speaker 15: excited about his efforts and willingness to get back and
- 56:32Speaker 15: work hard and practice last week and then again.
- 56:36Speaker 16: Made a decision.
- 56:38Speaker 15: I made a decision at the end of the week
- 56:41Speaker 15: that just I think we needed a little bit more time.
- 56:44Speaker 15: And that's what happens when you start this return to
- 56:47Speaker 15: play and you practice and you work hard, and then
- 56:50Speaker 15: you see how you respond, and then to make a
- 56:53Speaker 15: decision if you're you know, if that players, you know,
- 56:57Speaker 15: ready ready for a football game, and we felt like
- 57:01Speaker 15: that he probably needed a little bit more time and uh,
- 57:06Speaker 15: hopefully he'll be ready to go. Excited to see him
- 57:09Speaker 15: and everybody else practice today.
- 57:11Speaker 1: Wait, hopeated impact Christian. You've only seen him one film?
- 57:15Speaker 16: Really, stuff like hopevated impact and you.
- 57:18Speaker 15: Have for your guy, Well, I mean I think any
- 57:20Speaker 15: of you. We need all our all our best players.
- 57:24Speaker 15: You know, you've said this numerous times here. You're your
- 57:27Speaker 15: best players have to play good in order for you
- 57:29Speaker 15: to have a chance to win. And so Christian would
- 57:32Speaker 15: be one of those players. And we just need to
- 57:36Speaker 15: try to get everybody out there that we can get
- 57:37Speaker 15: out there, and uh, hopefully he progresses well throughout the
- 57:41Speaker 15: week and he can help us.
- 57:42Speaker 17: Like what you see is the mood of the team
- 57:44Speaker 17: today as you guys came back and got ready.
- 57:46Speaker 16: To work after a while, I think it's it's it's
- 57:49Speaker 16: where it has to be.
- 57:50Speaker 15: You know, whether you win or lose, you have to
- 57:53Speaker 15: you know, remain consistent and get back to work and
- 57:56Speaker 15: prepare for a new opponent. You put a lot into
- 57:59Speaker 15: it every week, disappointed that you lose, but that's in
- 58:02Speaker 15: the rear view mirror, and we have to be able
- 58:04Speaker 15: to attack each and every week. And then you know,
- 58:08Speaker 15: once you make the corrections and once you point out
- 58:11Speaker 15: the things that we have to do better in order
- 58:13Speaker 15: to win, and then then it's onto the preparation and
- 58:16Speaker 15: the new challenge ahead.
- 58:17Speaker 3: Mike tis a saying that you can't win unless and
- 58:21Speaker 3: learn how not to lose. In terms of that in
- 58:26Speaker 3: terms of learning how.
- 58:27Speaker 16: Not to lose.
- 58:28Speaker 2: Can that be taught or is that on the players?
- 58:32Speaker 17: Well?
- 58:33Speaker 16: I think it.
- 58:37Speaker 15: I think by building and doing things the right way
- 58:39Speaker 15: and and believe in in what it is that we
- 58:44Speaker 15: feel like as in an identity, that that hopefully that
- 58:47Speaker 15: will take care of it. I mean, I think the
- 58:52Speaker 15: more that you put yourself in close games and the
- 58:54Speaker 15: more that you put yourselves in those situations that you
- 58:59Speaker 15: have to you know, be able to have some favorable outcomes.
- 59:02Speaker 15: You know, you have to be able to respond and
- 59:04Speaker 15: you have to be able to get stops in the
- 59:05Speaker 15: red zone where you have to be able to take
- 59:07Speaker 15: care of football or you know, you have to be
- 59:09Speaker 15: able to produce some some explosive gains in the in
- 59:12Speaker 15: the return phase and all those things that are that
- 59:15Speaker 15: are critical.
- 59:16Speaker 17: You know, I don't know.
- 59:18Speaker 15: I think it kind of just comes hand in hand
- 59:20Speaker 15: with it and we try to point them out as
- 59:23Speaker 15: often as we possibly can.
- 59:25Speaker 3: Like you mentioned, you made a decision last week that
- 59:28Speaker 3: did more time with Christian.
- 59:31Speaker 9: What information do you use to to make the decisions
- 59:33Speaker 9: like that?
- 59:37Speaker 15: Just revisiting this from previous conversations, was that a wink
- 59:42Speaker 15: fill or were you just squinting good.
- 59:48Speaker 3: You know.
- 59:48Speaker 16: One, can they player protect themselves?
- 59:52Speaker 17: Right?
- 59:52Speaker 15: Can they go out there in this game and.
- 59:56Speaker 16: And protect themselves.
- 59:57Speaker 15: I guess it's a violent game, right, Can they pret
- 1:00:00Speaker 15: detect themselves? Can they do their job to the standard
- 1:00:03Speaker 15: that we you know, have set for them and they've
- 1:00:06Speaker 15: set for themselves. And can they make it worse? So
- 1:00:08Speaker 15: those are the three things that I would probably use.
- 1:00:13Speaker 15: I think, you know, a lot goes into being able
- 1:00:16Speaker 15: to protect yourself. The conditioning of the person, right, A
- 1:00:19Speaker 15: player that would maybe get tired or wouldn't be in
- 1:00:22Speaker 15: a proper condition to play in an NFL game could
- 1:00:25Speaker 15: then lead to another injury or you know, not being
- 1:00:29Speaker 15: able to protect themselves. So, but those are the three
- 1:00:32Speaker 15: things that I try to use in making those decisions. A.
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: There's defense.
- 1:00:38Speaker 6: What are they doing from a movement perspective that will
- 1:00:40Speaker 6: challenge you gains?
- 1:00:41Speaker 15: Well, they're just they're very sound, you know, and they've
- 1:00:44Speaker 15: done a lot. They have a lot in the playbook,
- 1:00:46Speaker 15: they have a lot in their history. But they're playing
- 1:00:48Speaker 15: their best defense when when they're just sound, when they
- 1:00:50Speaker 15: line up very good interior. I think the secondary is
- 1:00:56Speaker 15: very good. I think that obviously Horn and Jackson and
- 1:01:02Speaker 15: Mooring has been a.
- 1:01:04Speaker 16: Very good player.
- 1:01:07Speaker 15: Linebackers are good tacklers, and Brown is one of the
- 1:01:10Speaker 15: best interior defensive linemen. But they they play sound, they
- 1:01:14Speaker 15: play with their hands, they tackle well, and so they
- 1:01:17Speaker 15: really haven't been, you know, beating themselves too much.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Red tech n Millan on the other side.
- 1:01:25Speaker 15: I mean, all the same things that you know you
- 1:01:26Speaker 15: look at and saw when you were seeing them come
- 1:01:28Speaker 15: out as big athlete, smooth, fluid mover, good at the
- 1:01:32Speaker 15: catch point. You know, body control for for such a
- 1:01:38Speaker 15: long player, very I guess, agile, loose, you know, can
- 1:01:44Speaker 15: upper body flexibility, can can turn locate the football, so,
- 1:01:48Speaker 15: you know, but good catch radius. It seems like Bryce
- 1:01:53Speaker 15: certainly trusts him already to be where he's supposed to be.
- 1:01:59Speaker 16: So that'll be a huge.
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: Challenge your experience. You know, how deep into a season
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: do you typically find out who your team is from
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: us strength to weaknesses?
- 1:02:09Speaker 16: I don't know, you know.
- 1:02:10Speaker 15: I mean I think when it's there, you kind of
- 1:02:12Speaker 15: know it. And so we're you know, we've got a
- 1:02:15Speaker 15: bunch of different things that we've done well and not
- 1:02:18Speaker 15: so well, and then you know, things that gotten us beat, right,
- 1:02:22Speaker 15: So I don't want us to to forget about all
- 1:02:25Speaker 15: the positives and the good things that have happened, and
- 1:02:29Speaker 15: the very good winning snaps that we've played. And then
- 1:02:33Speaker 15: obviously just you have to eliminate the things that get
- 1:02:36Speaker 15: us beat the turnovers, the you know, the returns, the
- 1:02:40Speaker 15: x plays on defense, those types of things.
- 1:02:42Speaker 18: They're putting a.
- 1:02:43Speaker 16: Really phenomenal kick cover. That's impressive. Looked at it for
- 1:02:48Speaker 16: two hours last night. I impressive.
- 1:02:51Speaker 15: They got good players, they got great speed, They change
- 1:02:55Speaker 15: the scheme up on you and so you know that'll
- 1:02:58Speaker 15: be critical that we're able to, you know, protect the
- 1:03:01Speaker 15: guy with the ball.
- 1:03:02Speaker 16: They're they're flying, and you know.
- 1:03:05Speaker 15: It starts with the kicker kicks a good kick, dirty kick,
- 1:03:12Speaker 15: so he's had the returners sometimes confused he's kicking him.
- 1:03:16Speaker 15: When he kicks them deep, they're right at the goal
- 1:03:19Speaker 15: line forcing it to return them or you know, last
- 1:03:22Speaker 15: week a couple of times they touched it and took
- 1:03:24Speaker 15: a step back and then you know, had it on
- 1:03:26Speaker 15: the twenty yard line. So they've done a fantastic job.
- 1:03:29Speaker 15: Credit to their staff and uh and to the players.
- 1:03:35Speaker 15: You know, Paul, just tough to have one that's on
- 1:03:38Speaker 15: the ground in between the twenty and the goal line.
- 1:03:42Speaker 15: Sometimes one hops and they can return it. Sometimes it
- 1:03:46Speaker 15: you know, kicks and goes sideways, and you know we'll
- 1:03:49Speaker 15: have to be prepared for that wherever they kick it.
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: Ass trills We've seen various off season in the game,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: like on Sunday, do you try something new when it
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: comes to that.
- 1:04:00Speaker 15: Well, I would just put some more time into it,
- 1:04:02Speaker 15: you know, put some more time into it. And then again,
- 1:04:04Speaker 15: I'm gonna remind you that that everybody else's job is
- 1:04:07Speaker 15: to protect the guy with the ball, and so we'll
- 1:04:09Speaker 15: have to practice that too.
- 1:04:11Speaker 16: Because that wasn't good enough.
- 1:04:13Speaker 15: And the easy thing to say is that, you know,
- 1:04:16Speaker 15: we had three players fumbled the football, which is obvious.
- 1:04:21Speaker 16: You know, we have to use great.
- 1:04:23Speaker 15: Technique and then everyone else needs to strain to protect
- 1:04:27Speaker 15: the player with the ball. And that's what we're going
- 1:04:30Speaker 15: to get accomplished.
- 1:04:33Speaker 17: And Chisel has he been inactive because his injury is
- 1:04:37Speaker 17: lingering or is it something else?
- 1:04:39Speaker 15: Just my decision each and every week try to get
- 1:04:42Speaker 15: you know, we can only get five right now, we've
- 1:04:43Speaker 15: only been taking five, so that that can change each week.
- 1:04:47Speaker 16: And he's he's.
- 1:04:48Speaker 15: Working hard and working in practice and you know, we'll
- 1:04:52Speaker 15: evaluate that each week as to what his role would
- 1:04:56Speaker 15: be and how he can help us. But you know
- 1:05:00Speaker 15: that's kind of where that is.
- 1:05:01Speaker 16: You see Kyle Williams opportunities increase hopefully.
- 1:05:05Speaker 15: I mean again, he's the ones we've thrown to him,
- 1:05:07Speaker 15: he's caught, and you know, just keep building a role
- 1:05:11Speaker 15: for him and you know, get everybody some opportunities and
- 1:05:16Speaker 15: let the quarterback throw to the guy that's open.
- 1:05:18Speaker 6: The factors that go into batted balls, and how do
- 1:05:20Speaker 6: you go about preventing.
- 1:05:21Speaker 15: Consistently, Uh, I think arm angle, staring, staring the throw down.
- 1:05:29Speaker 15: I think in tight windows down in the red zone,
- 1:05:31Speaker 15: if you stare it down, you'll probably get some passes
- 1:05:34Speaker 15: batted against good teams that don't run past the quarterback.
- 1:05:41Speaker 15: You know, think timing, you know, defensively timing being able
- 1:05:45Speaker 15: to to not stand at the line but be able
- 1:05:47Speaker 15: to rush and then you know.
- 1:05:50Speaker 16: Get the correct hand up, you know.
- 1:05:54Speaker 15: And then quarterbacks that you know have a tendency to again,
- 1:05:57Speaker 15: like I said, get low with their release or some
- 1:06:00Speaker 15: times it's the route has an effect on it as well,
- 1:06:02Speaker 15: if it's over the middle and short.
- 1:06:05Speaker 17: Like every week in the game notes lists all the
- 1:06:09Speaker 17: common kind of connections between the Patriots and their opponents, and.
- 1:06:13Speaker 8: This week it's very thin.
- 1:06:14Speaker 17: There's almost no crossover between the Patriots and the Panthers,
- 1:06:17Speaker 17: between coaches and players. What's that like to game plan
- 1:06:20Speaker 17: for a team where you guys have almost no kind
- 1:06:23Speaker 17: of personal experience with guys on the other side.
- 1:06:27Speaker 16: Just watch the tape, you know what I mean?
- 1:06:29Speaker 15: Just try to focus in on the tape, and I
- 1:06:33Speaker 15: have an idea of how to prepare the players that
- 1:06:35Speaker 15: way and focus on those things.
- 1:06:39Speaker 16: Focus on the things that.
- 1:06:40Speaker 15: You see, maybe things that they've done in the past,
- 1:06:42Speaker 15: or how what they may do to us situationally.
- 1:06:48Speaker 3: In his playing time.
- 1:06:50Speaker 6: How much of that number where we're at right now
- 1:06:52Speaker 6: through three games is tight to just what he was
- 1:06:54Speaker 6: coming back from injury wise.
- 1:06:56Speaker 15: I mean, I think it's all gonna change. I think
- 1:06:58Speaker 15: the through three games and where it's at, and the
- 1:07:00Speaker 15: packages that we've used, and you know, the stuff that
- 1:07:03Speaker 15: we've asked some of these guys to do is just
- 1:07:05Speaker 15: trying to find a role for each every one of them.
- 1:07:07Speaker 15: And I don't think any of them are gonna play
- 1:07:10Speaker 15: ninety percent of the snaps.

- 1:09:22Speaker 1: saying that Cole Strange can't play. No, but they say
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: he struggled as a rookie and he was overdrafted Paul,
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: and that's a bad pick.
- 1:09:29Speaker 3: Some people say it's a bust, Yes, it's not a bus.
- 1:09:32Speaker 1: Year one was a bust.
- 1:09:34Speaker 3: That's not what I just said, and you know it.
- 1:09:36Speaker 1: Okay, Well, what do you think is going to happen.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: I don't think he's gonna end up being like a
- 1:09:40Speaker 1: first round.
- 1:09:40Speaker 3: But I think I think it's just as stupid to
- 1:09:42Speaker 3: say I know he's going to be a pro bowler
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: as I know he's going to be a bus. Same
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: way with Marcus Joes.
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: It's not just as stupid to say the second part,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: because he was a bust in year one. He wasn't
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: anywhere near a port.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: Well, he wasn't a bus.
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: He was fred. Oh, come on, for one year. I'm
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: not saying that ends his story as a player.
- 1:09:59Speaker 3: I didn't say you said, but in year.
- 1:10:00Speaker 1: One he was in and out of the lineup due
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: to performance.
- 1:10:03Speaker 3: And like the emailer said, we knew he was going
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: to struggle.
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: No I didn't. I don't pick first round picks as
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: plug and play guys that I know are going to struggle. Listen, listen,
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: then it's a bad pick.
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: It's not one of.
- 1:10:14Speaker 1: The two has to be true.
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Well, we'll know it's a bad pick in a few years,
- 1:10:18Speaker 3: but right now, you can't say.
- 1:10:19Speaker 1: This is my whole thing about offensive lineman It's not
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: why you can get away with taking offensive lineman because
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: no one will ever call him a bust.
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: You just did.
- 1:10:27Speaker 1: I will, but no one.
- 1:10:28Speaker 3: No, Paul is the only one.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: See now, now he's going to completely change the narrative
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: of this argument. Be snarky, make fun of me. Everybody
- 1:10:37Speaker 1: laughs at him. No, and then we'll just people, do
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: not declare offensive lineman as readily bust you as Nikhil Harry.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: You are not on him.
- 1:10:46Speaker 1: Was Nikhil Harry a bust?
- 1:10:47Speaker 12: You?
- 1:10:48Speaker 1: Was Nikhil Harry a bust? Okay? Was it okay to
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: call him the bust after one year? No? Okay, it
- 1:10:54Speaker 1: was not consistent.
- 1:10:57Speaker 3: It's not okay.
- 1:10:58Speaker 1: What do you think he's going to cold cold?
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: I think he's gonna be a fine NFL player, Okay,
- 1:11:04Speaker 3: I don't.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Okay, that's another great moment.
- 1:11:10Speaker 3: All right, back here on Patriot's Unfiltered eight five five
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: pasts five hundred is the hotline podcast at patriots dot com.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: Is the email address. Evans off to practice in the
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: locker room. Deuce just left for the locker room. He'll
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: be back to give us his locker room report as
- 1:11:30Speaker 3: soon as he's done with that. We just heard from
- 1:11:32Speaker 3: Mike Rabel, and I guess the headline is, Yes, Gonzo's back,
- 1:11:36Speaker 3: He'll be practicing, and the plan is for him to play.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean, I'll we'll see what ends up happening
- 1:11:45Speaker 1: on Sunday. But yeah, I mean I fully expected him
- 1:11:48Speaker 1: to be practicing after practicing all last week, but Mike
- 1:11:52Speaker 1: certainly indicated that I would be surprised if he didn't
- 1:11:56Speaker 1: play this week. Based on the way Mike sounded, yep.
- 1:11:59Speaker 1: I don't want to say he guaranteed it or anything
- 1:12:01Speaker 1: like that, but based on the way Mike spoke at
- 1:12:04Speaker 1: the beginning there.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: God only knows what happens in practice, but the plan,
- 1:12:08Speaker 3: I think is the hope. The expectation is that he's
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: going to be in the game by Sunday.
- 1:12:14Speaker 1: So kind of some interesting stuff. I don't know if
- 1:12:17Speaker 1: you caught this last night on one of my shows,
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: one of my former shows. They don't have me on anymore,
- 1:12:24Speaker 1: No NBC Sports Boston Early Edition, I believe with Trenny.
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: Burt Breer was on, and he indicated that there was
- 1:12:34Speaker 1: no setback with Gonzalez's hamstring, which I thought was no
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: one has definitively reported that he had suffered a set back.
- 1:12:43Speaker 1: But I think a lot of us, myself included, sort
- 1:12:47Speaker 1: of assumed that he must have based on the initial
- 1:12:49Speaker 1: reports back in August that indicated they expected him to
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: be ready for Week one.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: Yeah, so I don't know if there was, Like, if
- 1:13:00Speaker 3: there was no setback, then obviously they were surprised that
- 1:13:06Speaker 3: it took that long.
- 1:13:06Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:13:07Speaker 1: And the way that Bert and this is Burt's words,
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: not mine, Okay, the way that Breer explained it, and
- 1:13:14Speaker 1: I kind of agree with him, but he said, it's
- 1:13:17Speaker 1: almost worse if there were no setbacks, because then you
- 1:13:21Speaker 1: sort of think what you just said. Team probably felt
- 1:13:26Speaker 1: the beginning of September that he'd have been back on
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: the field before now. Yeah, well they probably would have
- 1:13:32Speaker 1: contemplated putting him on IR. So I think that he's
- 1:13:39Speaker 1: a good enough player that even if you knew he
- 1:13:40Speaker 1: was going to miss three weeks and not the fourth,
- 1:13:43Speaker 1: that he's worth keeping on the roster because I think
- 1:13:46Speaker 1: he's that valuable. Yeah, but they're just some different schools
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: of thought there.
- 1:13:51Speaker 3: Yeah, but listen, happy that it looks like he's going
- 1:13:55Speaker 3: to be back.
- 1:13:57Speaker 1: We need him, We need him beyond that, not a
- 1:13:59Speaker 1: whole lot plan not a whole lot from Vrabel, you know,
- 1:14:03Speaker 1: talked a lot about asked a couple of questions about Carolina.
- 1:14:06Speaker 1: It was, you know, he spoke the way we did
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: about their defense. He's impressed, I think with their physicality,
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: and you know, I don't you guys know, I always
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: tell you to do special teams on your time, right,
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: But when he had that line about you know that,
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: I think so. She asked him about the kick the
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: kick coverage. Think he did their kick coverage. They're allowing
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: an average of sixteen yards per kickoff return. That's a
- 1:14:28Speaker 1: pretty good number. So I don't know what they're doing exactly,
- 1:14:33Speaker 1: but they obviously have a good kickoff team, kickoff coverage team.
- 1:14:37Speaker 1: You know, like the Patriots are averaging twenty six point
- 1:14:40Speaker 1: nine yards per return, a number that's obviously inflated a
- 1:14:43Speaker 1: little bit by Antonio Gibson's touchdown, and they're allowing twenty
- 1:14:48Speaker 1: five point one yards per return. Okay, that's like, that's
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: that's a big that's nine yards. That's a big difference
- 1:14:56Speaker 1: sixteen yards to twenty five yards.
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: So are the kicks going deeper shallow in the kicking zone?
- 1:15:03Speaker 1: Yeah? You know so In other words, if he's catch
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: him around the eighteen. He doesn't have as much space
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: to get. But whatever they're tackling.
- 1:15:09Speaker 3: The starting Yeah, I drive, Okay, all right, all right.
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: Podcast at Patriots dot Com. Henry says today's birthday. It's
- 1:15:19Speaker 3: his thirtieth birthday. Happy BIRTHDAY'VE been listening since I was fifteen,
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: and thanks to Pu, I've gone from a boy.
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: To a man. Missed crazy.
- 1:15:29Speaker 3: There have been many pearls of wisdom along the way.
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: Fred reaching me the best way to dispose cardboard boxes,
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: teaching me I think he means cardboard boxes, very middle age.
- 1:15:39Speaker 3: Eric teaching me how to pronounce certain words he missed.
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: He pronounces Edinburgh wrong. And perhaps best of all, Paul
- 1:15:46Speaker 3: teaching me the best way to drink beer is to
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: drink twenty. I have a question that.
- 1:15:52Speaker 1: I've gone a lot of different ways. I'm glad I
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: went that way. That was funny.
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: I have a question that I hope stumps Paul and
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: wins me a T shirt. The day I was born
- 1:16:00Speaker 3: was a Sunday, Week four of the nineteen ninety five season.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: The Patriots were one and two coming off of twenty
- 1:16:07Speaker 3: eight three Calm Down Mike lost to the Niners. My
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: question is who did the Patriots play in week four?
- 1:16:14Speaker 3: Trick question? It was bye week?
- 1:16:17Speaker 1: They went Oh I just answered it? Oh all right,
- 1:16:20Speaker 1: so can I Does he have anything else there? Okay?
- 1:16:24Speaker 3: Who did they lose to?
- 1:16:25Speaker 1: Then?
- 1:16:25Speaker 3: In week five?
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: So I have two guesses in my head.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Yeah, so you would have been wrong.
- 1:16:32Speaker 1: I'm going to say, well, because I wouldn't have guessed
- 1:16:34Speaker 1: by me. Right, No, I'm going to say. I'm going
- 1:16:40Speaker 1: to say Kansas City in week five ninety five? Wrong.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: I have another guest. So if that's wrong, just say
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: it's wrong. It's wrong. Did they play Kansas City Pittsburgh? Wrong? Okay?
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Those are the two that popped into my head.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: According to Henry, they went on to lose in week
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: five to the Falcons thirty to seventeen.
- 1:17:01Speaker 1: Okay, it's slipping, Paul. You know why? I believe that's
- 1:17:06Speaker 1: a Zolac game, Oh Falcon?
- 1:17:09Speaker 3: Oh you know what?
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: Okay?
- 1:17:11Speaker 3: Ninety five was that the game in Atlanta.
- 1:17:14Speaker 1: Maurice Hurst picked six. They called it back for a
- 1:17:17Speaker 1: garbage passing affairance?
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: Oh right, right exactly?
- 1:17:21Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 1:17:21Speaker 3: I think so because he was fighting for the redemption
- 1:17:25Speaker 3: and that was the game where parcels scolded me because
- 1:17:28Speaker 3: in the postgame press conference Patriots had a chance.
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: No, No, that can't be the game.
- 1:17:34Speaker 3: I'm thinking of a different game, because I was thinking
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: of the game where they had a chance to win
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: it at the end. That must have been ninety six.
- 1:17:41Speaker 3: I thought it wasn't against Atlanta.
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Never mind, never mind. All right, Okay, who's this doesn't
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: say good stuff? Though?
- 1:17:54Speaker 1: Stump me? Yeah? Does he get a shirt for that? Yeah?
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: I thought that was SUPs up? I thought that was
- 1:18:00Speaker 3: the Sean Jefferson game. What year was Sean.
- 1:18:03Speaker 1: John Jefferson played a lot of games.
- 1:18:06Speaker 3: No, but there was a game where he had a
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: lot of fans in the stands and he got called
- 1:18:14Speaker 3: for an offensive. I don't know. I have to go
- 1:18:17Speaker 3: back and look at my notes to look at the
- 1:18:19Speaker 3: pfws from back then. Anyway, this email says, I dislike
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: how impatient fans are. I'm seeing posts on social media
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: and even some media people talking about trading Gonzales, cutting
- 1:18:33Speaker 3: the kicker, benching, Pop, cutting Stevenson, moving Campbell to guard
- 1:18:38Speaker 3: and Wilson to center. We've played three games. I get
- 1:18:42Speaker 3: that when you have five turnovers, you have to look
- 1:18:44Speaker 3: at it differently, because that's just terrible football. But I
- 1:18:47Speaker 3: also think a majority of our season, besides a few quarters,
- 1:18:50Speaker 3: our offense has been middle of the road, if not
- 1:18:52Speaker 3: pretty good. Our defense has really disappointed me so far.
- 1:18:56Speaker 3: My question, if the offense decides to play well at
- 1:18:59Speaker 3: the same time our defense shows up to play well
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: in the Bills game, do you think it will be
- 1:19:04Speaker 3: competitive or are we not there yet? Even if we
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: have complimentary football.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Competitive, Yeah, why can't they.
- 1:19:11Speaker 3: Get Miami was competitive?
- 1:19:13Speaker 1: Yeah, of course they can be competitive.
- 1:19:15Speaker 3: Yeah, Miami gave them a game. They were tied up
- 1:19:19Speaker 3: in the fourth quarter.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: I'll say this about that email. Normally, when emails start
- 1:19:24Speaker 1: off with why is everybody doing this, it's really not.
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: That's dead on. I've heard every one of those things
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: that that guy just mentioned. I've heard, yeah, you know,
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Will Campbell, we had a caller yesterday Will Campbell and
- 1:19:38Speaker 1: Jared Wilson sliding inside yep, to guard and center, respectively,
- 1:19:42Speaker 1: cut the kicker, cut the running back. I've heard people
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: wonder about trading Gonzo. I've heard all of those things.
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: I've heard them all. I've heard them yep.
- 1:19:51Speaker 1: I'm not necessarily saying that any of those have been
- 1:19:54Speaker 1: treated with any.
- 1:19:55Speaker 3: I don't think there's I don't think there's a ground
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: swell for any one of them.
- 1:19:58Speaker 1: Probably with the exception of the Steve thing. I think
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: a lot of people think that you're sending a message,
- 1:20:03Speaker 1: You're trying to establish a culture and sending a message
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: to the team. But yeah, I would agree with the
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: emailer at three games is a little early for all that.
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: But the offense, I would say has been uneven. There
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: are times where the offenses looked really good. I'm a
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: little concerned about the second half of these games. They
- 1:20:26Speaker 1: did absolutely nothing in the second half against the Raiders.
- 1:20:29Speaker 1: They did little in the second half against Miami. This game,
- 1:20:32Speaker 1: they were better in the second half. The turnover, you know,
- 1:20:35Speaker 1: the two turnovers, the Gibson one in the May one,
- 1:20:38Speaker 1: the first turnover in the end zone. They had a
- 1:20:42Speaker 1: spelling an interception that set them up on the eleven,
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: and then they fumbled as they were going in. But
- 1:20:46Speaker 1: they moved the ball better in the second half in
- 1:20:48Speaker 1: this game than they did the first two. I'd like
- 1:20:50Speaker 1: to see them put together two good halves of foot
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: would you say Defensive.
- 1:20:53Speaker 3: The Miami game this year had the potential to be
- 1:20:57Speaker 3: like the Jacksonville game last year.
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: But I got off to a great start. Yeah, it's
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: a better team Patriot. Yeah, but Miami's better than Jacksonville
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: was last year too. But yeah, I mean you can
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: make an argument without that if they don't return the
- 1:21:12Speaker 1: kick or if a chance stays in bounds, like, you
- 1:21:16Speaker 1: can make an argument that. Yeah, they had that great
- 1:21:19Speaker 1: start and everything looked good and then the offense kind
- 1:21:21Speaker 1: of fizzled out. I mean, really the second half was
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: not looking good offensively, and then they made that one
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: play down the sideline to Stevenson which got them the touchdown,
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: and then that that was really it offensively because the
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: other touchdown was a kick return, and then that last
- 1:21:37Speaker 1: field goal was a you know, yeah, yeah, pick a
- 1:21:42Speaker 1: pick three they took over in field goal range.
- 1:21:45Speaker 3: Jeff and Canada. If you're one of the fans who
- 1:21:47Speaker 3: expected the Patriots to be contending for a wild card
- 1:21:50Speaker 3: this year, then this game is a must win. You
- 1:21:54Speaker 3: can't start a season one and three and zero and
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: three at home against mediocre at best competition and say
- 1:21:58Speaker 3: you're a contender. If they lose this weekend, then we
- 1:22:02Speaker 3: will have no choice to assume they will lose to
- 1:22:04Speaker 3: the bills. Then you're one and four and people are
- 1:22:07Speaker 3: calling the show to talk about New Year's draft.
- 1:22:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it's not wrong. I think it as much as
- 1:22:14Speaker 1: a game in September, it can be considered a must win.
- 1:22:16Speaker 1: This is a must win, and that's whether you want
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: to make the playoffs or not. Like you have to
- 1:22:20Speaker 1: beat teams that are at your level or below. And
- 1:22:23Speaker 1: I would say in this case, they're below at home,
- 1:22:27Speaker 1: but I think it's like three and sixteen or three
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: and eighteen and they'll last whatever amount of you know,
- 1:22:32Speaker 1: twenty one is crazy home games like that needs to start. Yeah,
- 1:22:37Speaker 1: they need to win this game.
- 1:22:39Speaker 3: On the subject of callers, one comment, one question, please,
- 1:22:43Speaker 3: if you have one life story, two game comments and
- 1:22:46Speaker 3: three questions, you need to start your own podcast.
- 1:22:49Speaker 1: That's fair enough. Yeah, Fred does let them ramble, doesn't he.
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: Well, listen, we have time.
- 1:22:54Speaker 1: We do. You know, we love we love all our listeners.
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: We're not taking breaks every ten minutes like you're shows.
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Right, It's true, you know.
- 1:23:03Speaker 3: They don't like to hear that, but that's that's the
- 1:23:05Speaker 3: sense that people get when they listen. Let's see BB
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: and NH curious to hear each of your different perspectives
- 1:23:14Speaker 3: and how much of a mental game football is versus physical.
- 1:23:18Speaker 3: Do you think there's any merit comparing coaching matchups to
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: a chess game.
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I'm sure.
- 1:23:22Speaker 3: While ball Knower's like Evan will say that strategy aspect
- 1:23:25Speaker 3: makes a sport as a whole more entertaining.
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: To watch, I think there's a chess match. I think
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: there's a.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: Chess match for the coaches and certainly for the quarterbacks
- 1:23:34Speaker 3: to a degree. But I was told by the late
- 1:23:37Speaker 3: great Will McDonough who told me that never ask a
- 1:23:42Speaker 3: football player about football because they don't know all.
- 1:23:45Speaker 1: They know they're supposed to.
- 1:23:46Speaker 3: They know what they're supposed to do, and that's about it.
- 1:23:49Speaker 1: Yeah, and the best players obviously know what everybody's.
- 1:23:51Speaker 3: Doing, right, like safeties, you know, like those guys.
- 1:23:54Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah, I think, but there's a there's definitely
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: a chess match that goes on with the coaches, and
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: it's just like what you're what you're saying? What that
- 1:24:01Speaker 1: would sort of the definition of that would be you're
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: making moves with not only wanting to do what whatever
- 1:24:09Speaker 1: you're doing, but you're anticipating what the other coach is
- 1:24:12Speaker 1: going to do, and you're trying to make sure you
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: put your team in the best possible position to take
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: advantage of that. So there are chess moves that happen.
- 1:24:20Speaker 1: I think back and forth from a coaching perspective, but
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: I would say that the game is more physical than mental. Now, quarterback,
- 1:24:28Speaker 1: as you said, obviously the mental is huge. You can
- 1:24:33Speaker 1: make an argument the mental is more important than physical.
- 1:24:35Speaker 1: But you know a lot of players the mental can't
- 1:24:40Speaker 1: be you know, absent, but like to be a good
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: wide receiver, I don't care if you like. I don't
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: care if I know every route combination that there is.
- 1:24:50Speaker 1: I physically do not have the ability to be a
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: wide receiver in the NFL. So you need But.
- 1:24:55Speaker 3: When you have that plus the mark.
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: Which is what Belichick I always said, Mandy Moss.
- 1:25:01Speaker 3: Was like, yes, then you're at the next level.
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: So I'm not saying you don't like. The mental side
- 1:25:06Speaker 1: for the skill position players isn't important. It is, yeah,
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: but you need the physical because without the physical, I
- 1:25:13Speaker 1: don't care how good your mental is. I've seen plenty
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: of physical players succeed without being that strong mental.
- 1:25:19Speaker 3: And I don't know if you want to call instincts mental,
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: but like there are those players and whether they're a
- 1:25:24Speaker 3: running back or they have those great instincts. They you know,
- 1:25:28Speaker 3: they just know when to cut, they know when to
- 1:25:31Speaker 3: you know, call it a day. They just have great instincts,
- 1:25:34Speaker 3: and that pretty good. That goes for all athletes. You know,
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: some of the best players have the best instincts. It's
- 1:25:40Speaker 3: just something about them. They just know what to do
- 1:25:42Speaker 3: in that split second. And so that's less of a
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: chess game and it's more a mental instinctual type of
- 1:25:51Speaker 3: feeling for the game. Makes me excited. Ivan in California,
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: what's up, Ivan? Ivan?
- 1:26:01Speaker 1: Oh, you're a terrible Ivan.
- 1:26:04Speaker 12: Ay do you hear me?
- 1:26:07Speaker 14: Now?
- 1:26:09Speaker 12: Okay, my apologies. So I got a quick comment on
- 1:26:12Speaker 12: Pop and then a question for you guys on Brable.
- 1:26:15Speaker 12: With Pop, I think it's a perfect example as to
- 1:26:18Speaker 12: why the preseason means absolutely nothing because the guy was
- 1:26:23Speaker 12: our number one target. He was doing great come season time,
- 1:26:27Speaker 12: all of a sudden, there's again, there's some of the
- 1:26:29Speaker 12: same issues that were last year. Not the right place,
- 1:26:32Speaker 12: not the right whatever.
- 1:26:35Speaker 1: In the preseason games.
- 1:26:38Speaker 12: No, like you know, through well through practice, everybody was saying, oh,
- 1:26:42Speaker 12: you guys are reporting that Pop was.
- 1:26:43Speaker 1: Just in practice. Okay, I'm sorry, I misunderstood you. Okay, yeah, okay,
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: go ahead.
- 1:26:48Speaker 12: Okay, And I might have said preseason to my apologies
- 1:26:50Speaker 12: for a mistake, but I mean like he was like
- 1:26:52Speaker 12: the number one guy, right, and then to me, I'm
- 1:26:56Speaker 12: just sorry, but there's there's it's to me that you
- 1:26:59Speaker 12: don't know fourth down where your marker is. I mean,
- 1:27:02Speaker 12: I appreciate Drake trying to, you know, take on that responsibility,
- 1:27:05Speaker 12: but come on, man, like, yeah, I do not know that.
- 1:27:09Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:27:09Speaker 1: I would just say, like in practice, it's a little
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: different because Diggs was not really doing a lot of
- 1:27:15Speaker 1: eleven on eleven stuff at the outset. Mac Collins did
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: none because he was on pup to open camp, so
- 1:27:21Speaker 1: it was him and Booty, right. I mean, that's those
- 1:27:24Speaker 1: are the guys that were out there catching all the
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: passes throughout the practices. Your comment about the fourth down play, obviously,
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: we talked about that a lot yesterday. You have to
- 1:27:33Speaker 1: get the first down there, there's no And I agree
- 1:27:35Speaker 1: with you on Drake made good leadership. I like to
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: see that out of the quarterback taking responsibility for the play.
- 1:27:43Speaker 1: But you're right, Ivan, there's no reason whatsoever that the
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: Mario Douglas doesn't know that it's fourth and one and
- 1:27:50Speaker 1: I need to catch this ball and get up field
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: as quickly as I can. No excuse for that. But
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: in terms of the practice and all that, it's not
- 1:27:59Speaker 1: that it doesn't mean anything. It just needs a little
- 1:28:02Speaker 1: more context. Like I said, the guys that have been
- 1:28:07Speaker 1: playing the majority of the snaps weren't really options in
- 1:28:10Speaker 1: eleven on eleven work for a vast majority of those
- 1:28:13Speaker 1: training camp practices. Stefan Diggs was out there right away,
- 1:28:16Speaker 1: but he wasn't getting that kind of a workload, whereas
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: the Mario Douglas was on the on the field for
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: every snap. You remember when camp started, Yeah, Diggs was
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: out there and he was catching passes and stuff, but
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: not every play, right, And I think Rabel even said it,
- 1:28:29Speaker 1: like we, you know, we don't want to have him
- 1:28:31Speaker 1: taking part in every rap in this and that. And
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: Mac Collins missed, oh a good week and a half.
- 1:28:36Speaker 3: So at the start of time, Baker was still with
- 1:28:38Speaker 3: the team, but you know, he was doing some things,
- 1:28:40Speaker 3: and but Hya Williams had more of a role actually
- 1:28:43Speaker 3: early yeah, right away, but yeah, let's go to Cameron
- 1:28:49Speaker 3: in North Carolina.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: Hey, Cameron.
- 1:28:53Speaker 12: Guys, how good good.
- 1:28:56Speaker 20: I just have two quick things for you. I'll start
- 1:28:59Speaker 20: with pop. I think a lot of things that you
- 1:29:01Speaker 20: guys have been talking about them seems to be more
- 1:29:04Speaker 20: detail oriented. And I'm not saying this is the greatest
- 1:29:08Speaker 20: pay sorry passed by Drake May but the one passed
- 1:29:13Speaker 20: to the right side where it ended up skipping on
- 1:29:15Speaker 20: the ground and then being incomplete. Is that set up
- 1:29:19Speaker 20: for him to sit back and wait on the ball
- 1:29:20Speaker 20: like that? Because one thing I didn't notice, instead of
- 1:29:23Speaker 20: like coming towards meeting the ball, he actually drops stepped
- 1:29:26Speaker 20: when it was on the way. And I'm not saying
- 1:29:29Speaker 20: he still could have caught it, but just something I observed.
- 1:29:32Speaker 1: I think he was trying to reverse course and get
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: back to the ball, But I mean, you might be right,
- 1:29:38Speaker 1: maybe he wasn't where he was supposed to be. I
- 1:29:40Speaker 1: think Evan sort of said, I wonder if he was
- 1:29:42Speaker 1: supposed to continue to drift. It looked to me like
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: it was a little swing pass and he should have
- 1:29:46Speaker 1: been on the move when he caught that. It was
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: a bad throw, But yeah, I don't know that for sure.
- 1:29:50Speaker 3: He could have helped the quarterback. But I put that
- 1:29:52Speaker 3: one on Drake. I thought that he just kind of like, wow,
- 1:29:55Speaker 3: he's wide oat, Like Drake has an issue when guys
- 1:29:58Speaker 3: are wide oat.
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: Oh it was was the usure. Yeah, he didn't get
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: his feet set and he just threw the ball out
- 1:30:04Speaker 1: without setting himself.
- 1:30:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, there was Drake.
- 1:30:08Speaker 20: To me, I was just wondering, like if that's something
- 1:30:10Speaker 20: that maybe Pop could have done his own.
- 1:30:12Speaker 1: Oh yeah, no, I mean there's obviously there's a chance
- 1:30:16Speaker 1: of that. I think Evan brought it up yesterday to
- 1:30:18Speaker 1: your point, Cameron, that he he maybe was moving away,
- 1:30:23Speaker 1: you know, close, he continued to float toward the sideline,
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: and maybe he shouldn't have. Maybe he should have stopped
- 1:30:29Speaker 1: and gotten back to the ball again. I think if
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: it was any other receiver knowing, but there shouldn't be
- 1:30:35Speaker 1: that small a room for error that that should be
- 1:30:38Speaker 1: driven at his head, you know what I mean. Just
- 1:30:40Speaker 1: it should be an easy little swing pass that you're
- 1:30:42Speaker 1: hitting the guy in stride because he's you should have
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: been like sort of leading him upfield so he's catching
- 1:30:47Speaker 1: it on the front rise nobody out there.
- 1:30:50Speaker 3: Some there is a time and place for a low pass,
- 1:30:52Speaker 3: you know, in traffic or whatever.
- 1:30:54Speaker 1: But that wasn't it. Thanks Cameron, but he I mean,
- 1:30:57Speaker 1: Cameron could be right. Maybe you know, Douglass wasn't where
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: we were supposed to be, and that's why the past
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: was short. Could be I don't know. These are little
- 1:31:05Speaker 1: little details of the game that you just don't know
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: for sure. And this is why I get frustrated with
- 1:31:10Speaker 1: the metrics.
- 1:31:11Speaker 3: The ball knowers.
- 1:31:13Speaker 1: No, it's just the metrics sights like that just automatically
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: assigned blamed like I've assigned blame for Drake may on
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: that play. That doesn't make me right, right the coach
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: maybe he threw that exactly where he, like Douglas was
- 1:31:26Speaker 1: supposed to be.
- 1:31:26Speaker 3: Yeah, only the coaches know for sure. Francisco in North Carolina.
- 1:31:31Speaker 3: What's up, Francisco?
- 1:31:33Speaker 12: Thank God?
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: How you're doing good?
- 1:31:36Speaker 7: I it's a little loud. I'm at work and I'm
- 1:31:39Speaker 7: outside driving his track and cutting grass. But just quick
- 1:31:42Speaker 7: questions or quick a couple of questions. So with us
- 1:31:47Speaker 7: trying to trade yesterday for that cornerback from the Titans,
- 1:31:52Speaker 7: instead of doing that, why haven't we tried to talk
- 1:31:54Speaker 7: to to Fon Gilmore or an Asante, Samuel Junior, somebody
- 1:31:57Speaker 7: who's a free agent. Bring them in. I mean, I
- 1:32:00Speaker 7: like Sevon Gilmore, you know, because he's been here before,
- 1:32:02Speaker 7: and I think they bring a lot of leadership to
- 1:32:05Speaker 7: the locker room, be able to help everybody putting gonzo.
- 1:32:07Speaker 7: And the second one is what's more likely that Chisholm
- 1:32:12Speaker 7: takes over for Pop or if it's such a big
- 1:32:15Speaker 7: deal of a chemistry with somebody going to try to
- 1:32:17Speaker 7: trade for somebody trait, it's already got chemistry with like
- 1:32:21Speaker 7: Josh Downs or Devon says Walker, I'll take dance rafair.
- 1:32:24Speaker 1: Thanks guys, Okay, thanks, there's any chance of getting Josh Downs.
- 1:32:27Speaker 1: The Colts right now are flying high. Can we like
- 1:32:37Speaker 1: sort of try to use the receivers that they have
- 1:32:39Speaker 1: a little bit like if you want to give me
- 1:32:41Speaker 1: like a j Brown as we talked about earlier in
- 1:32:43Speaker 1: the show, sign me up, Like that's a significant upgrade,
- 1:32:49Speaker 1: whether you're not, you're changing out your fifth and sixth receivers,
- 1:32:53Speaker 1: fine that you maybe you get a maybe you get
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: a spark from it. Okay, I think there's maybe more
- 1:32:58Speaker 1: that Digs can give to this. I think there's more
- 1:33:01Speaker 1: that we could possibly get from Kyle Williams as he
- 1:33:04Speaker 1: continues to get more and more acclimated as a pro.
- 1:33:09Speaker 1: I'd like to see Booty get more targets than he's gotten.
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: I think every time you know, Booty has been involved
- 1:33:15Speaker 1: so far this year, it's been a successful play for
- 1:33:17Speaker 1: the Patriots. On Sunday, he had one big catch on
- 1:33:20Speaker 1: a third and long and drew a passing appearance down
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: the sideline. Yeah, and you know he was wide opening
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: the end zone for what should have been a touchdown,
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: but Drake didn't get it to him. So until I
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: see these guys like, I don't really know exactly what
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: the answer is, but I mean, Josh, like, the Colts
- 1:33:41Speaker 1: right now are playing really well. Why would you want
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: to get rid of one of your receivers now?
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: Was then other question about why don't they go out
- 1:33:47Speaker 3: and just, you know, instead of trying to trade for
- 1:33:50Speaker 3: a lesser guy, why don't they just go after Gilmore.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: I don't think Gilmore makes a lot of sense for
- 1:33:54Speaker 1: them at his age. They're moving away from those kinds
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: of players. Santa Samuel I think is I think he's
- 1:33:59Speaker 1: injured and he's not quite ready to play yet, but
- 1:34:02Speaker 1: I'm not sure if there's been an update on that.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: I think that was what he indicated the song.
- 1:34:06Speaker 3: I think if they were really close, like this is
- 1:34:08Speaker 3: a team that really close to being like a you know,
- 1:34:13Speaker 3: a serious contender in the playoffs, maybe you take a
- 1:34:16Speaker 3: shot at Gilmour if that's something that you think can
- 1:34:20Speaker 3: get you over that defensive hump. But I guess, you know,
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: he's probably looking for a lot of money, and that's
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: the reason why he's still on the street.
- 1:34:27Speaker 1: Is because he's older.
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: But he's probably also looking for a lot of money,
- 1:34:31Speaker 3: and that combination are keeping teams from signing them. Like
- 1:34:35Speaker 3: I haven't heard him saying I don't want to play anymore, so,
- 1:34:41Speaker 3: Robert writes in.
- 1:34:42Speaker 1: Yeah, he had neck surgery that he's recovering from. Yeah,
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: and I don't believe that he's been medically cleared. I'm
- 1:34:52Speaker 1: not positive on that. That may have changed since the
- 1:34:55Speaker 1: start of like September, but I think that's why he
- 1:34:58Speaker 1: was unsigned, Okay, because he's still young.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: Roberts says, aside from Phil shooting a shot on Vrabel
- 1:35:05Speaker 3: take away from that press conference, Gonzo's still not one
- 1:35:08Speaker 3: hundred percent to go well.
- 1:35:10Speaker 1: I mean, I think he indicated that he would be
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: going well.
- 1:35:13Speaker 3: The hope is I mean, let's see him practice again,
- 1:35:16Speaker 3: he's probably going to be full speed this, you know,
- 1:35:19Speaker 3: full participation instead of limited and we'll see. I don't
- 1:35:23Speaker 3: think Rabel can commit, but I think the expectation and
- 1:35:26Speaker 3: the hope is that he plays this week.
- 1:35:28Speaker 1: Yeah, I would agree with Freddy on that you have
- 1:35:35Speaker 1: to see how he gets through the week. Yeah, you're
- 1:35:36Speaker 1: right right, because I think one of the things that
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: Vrabel talked about was last week, you know, making sure
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: that you put players in a position where they can
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: get out in the field and they have the ability
- 1:35:46Speaker 1: to protect themselves. And he talked about from you know,
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: a conditioning standpoint, if you're not quite I mean it's
- 1:35:53Speaker 1: been over eight weeks. It was July twenty eighth that
- 1:35:57Speaker 1: he got hurt. It was the first day they were
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: in pads. That's why the date, that's a long time
- 1:36:03Speaker 1: to go and you can't and he's dealing with a hamstring,
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: so you can't get your conditioning to the same level
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: that it would be. You know, if you were dealing
- 1:36:14Speaker 1: with say a shoulder injury, you know, like he'd be
- 1:36:16Speaker 1: able to run maybe a little bit more. So there's
- 1:36:19Speaker 1: a lot of different factors at play.
- 1:36:20Speaker 3: Think about it. So when you get hurt that early
- 1:36:23Speaker 3: in camp. You don't even have the time to get
- 1:36:26Speaker 3: into football shape that the other players did. You know,
- 1:36:30Speaker 3: it's not like he got hurt in August. A lot
- 1:36:32Speaker 3: of time late August. He hasn't been out there for
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: a long time.
- 1:36:36Speaker 1: I would look at the silver lining here. I know
- 1:36:38Speaker 1: that people are going to probably be surprised that I'm
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: doing that. But if this injury happens, say September fifth,
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: you'd have lost them for eight games, eight or nine games. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:48Speaker 1: as opposed to when it happened. Maybe you're going to
- 1:36:50Speaker 1: get by and only lose them for three.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: Right, Mark and Cheddar, why are you both doing a
- 1:36:55Speaker 3: Robert and Jonathan Craft impression? Paul Seed is so high
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: it looks comical.
- 1:37:01Speaker 1: Yeah, you are pretty up there, Paul that much taller
- 1:37:05Speaker 1: than Fred FYI.
- 1:37:06Speaker 3: The Blitz talk yesterday was PFWPU at its finest.
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: Yeah, it was good stuff.
- 1:37:12Speaker 3: I had fun.
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: Not gonna lie. I'm gonna let everybody know I was
- 1:37:15Speaker 1: a little jealous. I had fun. I was a little
- 1:37:17Speaker 1: jealous not to be involved in that nonsensical PU debate.
- 1:37:23Speaker 3: Mike Wright's saying, I'm looking forward to this weekend. My
- 1:37:26Speaker 3: eight year old son told me Dad, for my tenth birthday,
- 1:37:29Speaker 3: I'd like to go to a Patriots game. He doesn't
- 1:37:31Speaker 3: know this. Well, you're writing, so I'm right, I'm going
- 1:37:34Speaker 3: to read it. He doesn't know this, but we are
- 1:37:36Speaker 3: making the six hour drive up to Jillette this weekend.
- 1:37:39Speaker 3: We live in Pennsylvania.
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: Oh cool. I got some more numbers for you, Freddie,
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: as we're just looking at this, like this page of
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: like the Panthers' stats. So in the second quarter so
- 1:37:52Speaker 1: far this year, they've been outscored twenty seven to three.
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: That's a quarter of the Patriots going to look to win, Okay,
- 1:38:01Speaker 1: as they say in Boston. However, in the fourth quarter,
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: the Panthers outscore their opponents thirty to six, So Patriots
- 1:38:11Speaker 1: better have a lead getting down the stretch. All right,
- 1:38:16Speaker 1: all right, I just got a reply to this, Okay,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: Freddie just replying as he leaves me with no emails
- 1:38:23Speaker 1: to read and no calling to take.
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: No, that's okay, that's okay. I'll get right back on
- 1:38:27Speaker 3: the horse here. Gavin says, do you have any predictions
- 1:38:31Speaker 3: in what the team will do with the open roster spot.
- 1:38:35Speaker 1: I have had an open roster spot for a little
- 1:38:37Speaker 1: while now I don't. I don't have any predictions for that.
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: You know, maybe they wait another week, they just elevate
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: someone from the practice squad, and then Juli Tavai gets
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: that next week's assuming he's ready to come off of
- 1:38:51Speaker 1: IR No. No, I don't have a good answer for
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: you on that one.
- 1:38:54Speaker 3: Sorry, lots of emails coming in. Robert says on Henderson
- 1:38:58Speaker 3: when the Patriots drafted him in the second round, I
- 1:39:00Speaker 3: initially would have had Scataboo as our running back early
- 1:39:04Speaker 3: in the season. I thought I was wrong, But three
- 1:39:06Speaker 3: weeks in I wonder if I was from Scatter who's
- 1:39:09Speaker 3: been playing well for the Terrible Giants and is currently
- 1:39:11Speaker 3: the top rank running back according to PFF. I thought
- 1:39:15Speaker 3: he went ridiculously late in the draft. What do you
- 1:39:18Speaker 3: guys think?
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: Well, you know, I like Skataboo a lot. I do.
- 1:39:22Speaker 1: I would just say, and I watched some of this
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: game the other night against Kansas City. I do not
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: see that guy having a long career. I think he
- 1:39:30Speaker 1: went in the draft where I would have taken him
- 1:39:33Speaker 1: because that's the only style he knows how to play.
- 1:39:36Speaker 1: He's a train wreck on every single carry. It's a
- 1:39:39Speaker 1: three three car pile up. He does not avoid contact.
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: He's good player. He's a good football player. I like
- 1:39:48Speaker 1: watching him play. I was really I became sort of
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: a quasi Arizona State fan last year largely because of him,
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: and I really like watching him play. But I just
- 1:39:58Speaker 1: don't see him. Would you be surprised, Freddy, if you
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: know his career lasted less than say, four years.
- 1:40:07Speaker 3: Yes, I think he's a gamer.
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he's gonna get injured.
- 1:40:11Speaker 3: Okay, well make get in, but I don't think it's
- 1:40:13Speaker 3: going to end his career. Yeah, but I don't have injuries.
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: But he's just gonna be constantly hurt. That's what I think. Okay,
- 1:40:19Speaker 1: but yeah, I use a good player. I like him.
- 1:40:22Speaker 1: I'm not ready to give up on Henderson yet either.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: I think Henderson no, no, Henderson's I think they have
- 1:40:29Speaker 1: to do maybe some stuff to get him in. I
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: don't like the idea of him being, you know, the
- 1:40:36Speaker 1: lead back. I don't like him going between the tackles
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: every carry. But you get him on some toss sweeps,
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: some crack toss, some screens, some wheel routes. I think
- 1:40:48Speaker 1: you have a chance to make some big plays with him.
- 1:40:50Speaker 3: Listen, I like Skataboo, but it's kind of more in
- 1:40:54Speaker 3: a fun way I would. If I had to choose
- 1:40:56Speaker 3: between him and Henderson, I'm taking Henderson.
- 1:41:00Speaker 1: Oh really, I like himill really well. They're totally different
- 1:41:04Speaker 1: kinds of price they are, But I just don't think
- 1:41:08Speaker 1: Scataboo's gonna hold up. But if you're right, and he's
- 1:41:11Speaker 1: just a gamer and he doesn't get hurt and he
- 1:41:13Speaker 1: just like plays through it and stuff, I don't know.
- 1:41:16Speaker 1: I think he's a good pass catcher too. Yeah, he
- 1:41:18Speaker 1: was at Arizona State anyway.
- 1:41:20Speaker 3: Yeah, listen, I'd love to have him on my team,
- 1:41:24Speaker 3: both him and Henderson.
- 1:41:25Speaker 1: But I like Henderson. I'll take Henderson and that one.
- 1:41:29Speaker 1: That's why I think he got drafted two rounds earlier,
- 1:41:31Speaker 1: because I think the league agreed Henderson's the more skilled, sure,
- 1:41:35Speaker 1: you know, more talented player.
- 1:41:37Speaker 3: Over under game from Kyle and Pembroke. I guess this
- 1:41:41Speaker 3: is for the upcoming game. Drake May passing yards to
- 1:41:45Speaker 3: fifty and a hay, good defense, don't forget.
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: Good secondary to fifty and a half. H I gonna
- 1:41:56Speaker 1: take the under on that.
- 1:41:58Speaker 3: Okay, uh TD passes for Drake two and a hay.
- 1:42:05Speaker 1: I'll take the under on that.
- 1:42:07Speaker 3: Stevenson carries five and a hay.
- 1:42:11Speaker 1: I'm gonna take the over on that.
- 1:42:12Speaker 3: Okay, by a lot. No Hunter Henry touchdown catches a hey, I'll.
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: Take the over on that. I think he keeps his
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: early momentum going.
- 1:42:23Speaker 3: But regardless, field goals made one and a hey, take
- 1:42:27Speaker 3: the over on that. Okay, I'm gonna take the under
- 1:42:30Speaker 3: on that. They're only gonna have one. I know what
- 1:42:33Speaker 3: you're doing.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: They're only gonna have one. A lot of miskicks this week,
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: says Fred. No, no, no, Judah.
- 1:42:42Speaker 3: Do you agree with the statement that the Patriots should
- 1:42:44Speaker 3: be three?
- 1:42:45Speaker 14: And?
- 1:42:45Speaker 1: Oh no, they could be, but not should be.
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: These past three games have showed me that teams we
- 1:42:51Speaker 3: have played haven't needed to beat us. We have beat ourselves.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Do you guys think this problem is fixable? Or are
- 1:42:57Speaker 3: we going to relive these past two years?
- 1:42:59Speaker 1: I didn't not see the Raiders game like that. I
- 1:43:02Speaker 1: think the Raiders game they didn't have any opportunity to win. Now,
- 1:43:05Speaker 1: I'm not telling you they weren't good enough to win it,
- 1:43:07Speaker 1: but that day the Raiders were better. I think they
- 1:43:10Speaker 1: could have easily beaten the Steelers on Sunday. I think
- 1:43:13Speaker 1: the better argument is should they should be two and one? Right? Right? Yeah?
- 1:43:19Speaker 1: But I think that they have every bit as much
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: to say that they should be three and oho as
- 1:43:23Speaker 1: they should be zero and three.
- 1:43:26Speaker 3: Dana, Virginia and Michigan. In week one, the offense was
- 1:43:30Speaker 3: bad and the defense was bad. In week two, the
- 1:43:33Speaker 3: offense was good and the defense was bad. In week three,
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: the offense was bad and the defense was good. That
- 1:43:39Speaker 3: leads only one more possible combination. Week four, the offense
- 1:43:42Speaker 3: is good and the defense is good. Here's hoping I
- 1:43:45Speaker 3: like it. Paul noted that the offense was like pulling teeth,
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: and Evan has noted the lack of big plays. This
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: is surprise wow, because he's really tickled. He's just tickled.
- 1:44:04Speaker 4: You guys, you guys.
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: Well, who's back? Hello everyone, I'm back from the locker room.
- 1:44:11Speaker 6: Indeed, yes, hello, uh oh yeah yeah. Stefan Diggs of
- 1:44:16Speaker 6: course spoke today. It's becoming a weekly thing now, so
- 1:44:20Speaker 6: that was good. Asked a lot of questions.
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: Have you ever played in the slot before? Would you
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: be comfortable anybody watched the games? I don't think so.
- 1:44:27Speaker 6: I don't think like the game, like the Patriots games,
- 1:44:31Speaker 6: So that was that was big part. But you know,
- 1:44:34Speaker 6: he talked a lot about just young room. How do
- 1:44:36Speaker 6: you feel about the room right now? And you know
- 1:44:38Speaker 6: they're working the ball around, everybody's trying to get opportunities,
- 1:44:40Speaker 6: but you know, just being encouraging. I think it's just
- 1:44:42Speaker 6: really been impressive to me. He's been a really good leader,
- 1:44:45Speaker 6: really good tone setter, the calmness about him. Talked about
- 1:44:49Speaker 6: his own experience as a rookie in training camp, said
- 1:44:51Speaker 6: he had a great training camp and got to the season,
- 1:44:53Speaker 6: wasn't really playing and didn't get opportunities early in his career.
- 1:44:57Speaker 6: So I just think that experience is really good. And
- 1:44:59Speaker 6: I think those younger players in that room listen to
- 1:45:02Speaker 6: I mean Stefan Diggs, you know, it's it's everybody knows.
- 1:45:04Speaker 1: Who he is.
- 1:45:05Speaker 6: So I think he's, uh, he's preaching the right things.
- 1:45:08Speaker 6: And then the other uh, we heard two other people
- 1:45:10Speaker 6: Christian Zalez as well. It sounds like he's ready to go.
- 1:45:15Speaker 6: So he talked, they said are you can we The
- 1:45:17Speaker 6: last question was can we expect to see you Sunday?
- 1:45:19Speaker 6: And he just said I'm excited, that's all he said.
- 1:45:21Speaker 6: He didn't guarantee he was going to play.
- 1:45:22Speaker 1: But he did talk last week too. Yeah, okay he
- 1:45:25Speaker 1: did so, uh you know, quiet can't hear everything he's saying.
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: I'm kind of sneaking around.
- 1:45:31Speaker 6: And then one more thing I would just say I
- 1:45:32Speaker 6: noticed was that a number of players had game balls
- 1:45:36Speaker 6: from Miami the Miami game, including Drake May in their
- 1:45:40Speaker 6: locker room.
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: Oh wasn't just Drake.
- 1:45:42Speaker 6: I also saw one James Batt Garrett Bradberry's locker as well.
- 1:45:46Speaker 6: But I know there were a number of game balls
- 1:45:48Speaker 6: given out in the post game, and there was some
- 1:45:49Speaker 6: discussions had a game ball, and it sounds like it
- 1:45:52Speaker 6: sounds like one of those where.
- 1:45:53Speaker 1: A bunch of guys also got game balls, including Drake,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: including Drake.
- 1:45:56Speaker 3: Very interesting, So your guy, it's very interesting. Oh you
- 1:46:00Speaker 3: think that was a makeup call, It's very interesting.
- 1:46:07Speaker 1: I couldn't help myself that one. I was standing listening
- 1:46:11Speaker 1: to Diggs and I looked up and I was like,
- 1:46:12Speaker 1: that's really that's good. That's a good But I saw
- 1:46:16Speaker 1: one in Remandre's as well. Was he one of the
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: ones they announced? Yeah, he was the first one. Brad Berry.
- 1:46:22Speaker 6: I didn't do a full like locker room check but
- 1:46:23Speaker 6: I did notice those guys did that one so also
- 1:46:27Speaker 6: from Morgan Moses again in other one you get I
- 1:46:29Speaker 6: did not actually, but I think.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: I earned one the same show, right, great were you
- 1:46:35Speaker 1: you was strong to quite strong in the post game show.
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: So yeah, that was that was it. Going out.
- 1:46:39Speaker 6: Looks like they're gonna be in shells. Another big day,
- 1:46:41Speaker 6: big day of practice for the boys.
- 1:46:43Speaker 1: A light Wednesday or they have just like they have
- 1:46:47Speaker 1: the pads. Yeah, not the shoulder pads, just the shells
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: and shells.
- 1:46:52Speaker 3: Was it a crowded locker room with media who was
- 1:46:54Speaker 3: pretty crowded.
- 1:46:54Speaker 1: It was pretty crowded, And I mean that's.
- 1:46:58Speaker 6: Oh no, it's I think it's Papacino's Fredos. Oh, but
- 1:47:03Speaker 6: I think that's.
- 1:47:03Speaker 1: The last Papa Gino's open in the world. It might
- 1:47:06Speaker 1: be in the world. I like me had good Papa Gino's.
- 1:47:10Speaker 6: But but the thing I noticed is being around here
- 1:47:12Speaker 6: the last couple of years, my first couple of years
- 1:47:14Speaker 6: here you had Tom Brady, Julian Edelman, Stefan Gilmour. He
- 1:47:18Speaker 6: had a lot of star players in the locker room.
- 1:47:20Speaker 6: Was always consumed with getting to hear from those players.
- 1:47:23Speaker 6: Last couple of years, not maybe not so much, but
- 1:47:25Speaker 6: you know, now it's becoming Wednesdays. We talked to Stefan Diggs,
- 1:47:28Speaker 6: we talked to Christian Zalez. So some of these star
- 1:47:31Speaker 6: players starting to emerge a little bit. And it's just
- 1:47:34Speaker 6: he can feel it in the locker room at there,
- 1:47:35Speaker 6: guys you want to hear from every week to to
- 1:47:37Speaker 6: talk to, whereas last couple of years maybe not not
- 1:47:40Speaker 6: so much.
- 1:47:40Speaker 1: Cool.
- 1:47:40Speaker 3: Who was Evan talking to?
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: He just he's he's working his magic going around. I
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: don't know if I saw him talking anybody. I'm going
- 1:47:47Speaker 1: to guess an offensive lineman.
- 1:47:49Speaker 6: No, I I saw somebody talking to I think it
- 1:47:52Speaker 6: was Charles Woods maybe, and I thought it was Evan
- 1:47:53Speaker 6: for a second, but it.
- 1:47:54Speaker 1: Was Bob Sotcy Chucky Trees, Chuckie Trees. So but no
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: good vibe.
- 1:48:00Speaker 6: I mean, definitely a lot of energy in there, and
- 1:48:02Speaker 6: it seems like the media is enjoying this.
- 1:48:04Speaker 1: No longer having to go outside.
- 1:48:06Speaker 6: And yeah, you know they get to cut right through football,
- 1:48:08Speaker 6: just straight ahead. Don't don't look beyond the pipe and draping.
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: You might get in trouble. Okay, So yeah, so we
- 1:48:16Speaker 1: got the we all have the impression that based on
- 1:48:18Speaker 1: what Mike said that we would expect to see Gonzo,
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: and that was the one. I know you listened to
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: Rabel before you left. We didn't get your takes on anything.
- 1:48:26Speaker 1: That was the only real takeaway that I had. I
- 1:48:28Speaker 1: don't know if you think so anything stand out to you. No,
- 1:48:30Speaker 1: nothing else jumped out to me.
- 1:48:32Speaker 6: I think that's just a big boost for the team,
- 1:48:35Speaker 6: you know, get them, get them back up there.
- 1:48:36Speaker 3: A lot of people are wondering, was Phil Perry in
- 1:48:39Speaker 3: fact winking at Rabel?
- 1:48:42Speaker 1: Do we know the answer? Maybe someone said after Phil
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: shot his shot with Rabel, just given the old wig.
- 1:48:51Speaker 1: I don't know. That's a great question though, maybe we
- 1:48:53Speaker 1: gotta ask Phil that.
- 1:48:54Speaker 3: Okay, so we don't have an answer to that.
- 1:48:57Speaker 1: No.
- 1:48:57Speaker 6: No, I didn't hear any scuttle but in the locker
- 1:48:59Speaker 6: room about it either or it didn't seem like you
- 1:49:01Speaker 6: weren't talking about it.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: No, I'm not here, Okay, I'm not a player, but
- 1:49:09Speaker 1: I do crush a lot, a lot I've been known for. Yeah,
- 1:49:14Speaker 1: so now they're out to the field and.
- 1:49:16Speaker 6: Not to the field, I'm gonna go out there too. Also,
- 1:49:18Speaker 6: just had a little side conversation with Brochie about the
- 1:49:20Speaker 6: red Sox and we're getting five games down, so some
- 1:49:23Speaker 6: palpable excitement here.
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: If the team went night like we're going to get
- 1:49:27Speaker 1: some October baseball.
- 1:49:28Speaker 6: And Dan was saying it'd be good just for h
- 1:49:31Speaker 6: I think we feel the same way about the Patriots.
- 1:49:32Speaker 6: A young team just to get there and you don't
- 1:49:34Speaker 6: know how it's going to turn out once you do
- 1:49:36Speaker 6: get there.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: But that experience of making it good to build off
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: of us.
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: Well, you know, when it comes to the Red Sox,
- 1:49:44Speaker 3: it all comes down to pitching, hitting, and defense, right.
- 1:49:47Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, catching maybe two defense, that's defense, bro fair enough.
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: He wouldn't know about that.
- 1:49:58Speaker 3: Ken Zi wants to know how far is Drake may
- 1:50:00Speaker 3: progressed in these first three games. Are we seeing growth
- 1:50:03Speaker 3: and decision making, poise and command of the offense, or
- 1:50:06Speaker 3: are the same rookie mistakes lingering.
- 1:50:10Speaker 1: I think there are some mistakes that are lingering, but
- 1:50:12Speaker 1: I think he has progressed a good deal from what
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: we saw last year. I don't think we see as
- 1:50:16Speaker 1: many of those examples of him being harried and you know,
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: off target. But I think there's been a progression. Yeah,
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: don't you think there's been a progression from last year?
- 1:50:25Speaker 1: I think he's played better. Absolutely. I was like, you're
- 1:50:27Speaker 1: kind of looking at me as like, ma, No, I
- 1:50:28Speaker 1: didn't who they were talking about. I thought it was
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: maybe sitting the wrong I was trying to find it.
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: I missed.
- 1:50:31Speaker 3: Now I think we're seeing. To me, I'm seeing a
- 1:50:33Speaker 3: semblance of a real offense as compared to last year.
- 1:50:36Speaker 3: And he's the quarterback, so in that way he's part
- 1:50:40Speaker 3: of that progression.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, I talked about it before.
- 1:50:43Speaker 6: I mean I was always impressed with even Mac, Like
- 1:50:46Speaker 6: in the first camp I saw Hi where he looked
- 1:50:48Speaker 6: pretty calm in the pocket, and then I kind of dissolved.
- 1:50:50Speaker 1: But with Drake, I feel like he's really progressed.
- 1:50:53Speaker 6: And even in the OTAs this spring and summer, it
- 1:50:56Speaker 6: just felt like, Wow, he doesn't seem like we're starting over,
- 1:50:59Speaker 6: doesn't seem like it's too much for him, and as
- 1:51:02Speaker 6: you've seen for large portions of the game, he looks
- 1:51:04Speaker 6: fairly comfortable. I do think there are parts of the
- 1:51:06Speaker 6: game where he gets sped up a little bit and
- 1:51:08Speaker 6: his feet get off and he gets a little bit inaccurate,
- 1:51:10Speaker 6: but it's kind of early and late.
- 1:51:12Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, right.
- 1:51:14Speaker 3: Adam in California has a question for Deuce. Vrabel is
- 1:51:17Speaker 3: now zero and two when wearing red. What do you
- 1:51:22Speaker 3: think about that? Do we need to get him to
- 1:51:23Speaker 3: wear it?
- 1:51:25Speaker 6: I know, I know, I don't know. I haven't taking notes.
- 1:51:27Speaker 6: We'll see if there are any trends emerged. But he's
- 1:51:29Speaker 6: clearly a big vest guy, so you know Bill, that
- 1:51:33Speaker 6: was the big thing with Bill. I mean, he was
- 1:51:34Speaker 6: known for the cutoff hoodie, but he really didn't wan
- 1:51:36Speaker 6: to the cutoff hoodie.
- 1:51:37Speaker 1: More than anything else.
- 1:51:38Speaker 2: Though.
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: It's a little bit of a tidbit there for I know.
- 1:51:41Speaker 3: I know, I know Eddie and La I feel like
- 1:51:44Speaker 3: taking away the run game is the key to stopping
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: the Panthers. Also, keeping Bryce in the pocket, don't let
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: him escape and run around. He's been keeping plays alive
- 1:51:53Speaker 3: and Tet is his go to man when he runs
- 1:51:56Speaker 3: out of the pocket. The game is winnable, let's get right.
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I'd agree with that.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: I mean, you keep him in the pocket.
- 1:52:03Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, I.
- 1:52:04Speaker 6: Think that's smart. But I agree with the point with McMillan.
- 1:52:07Speaker 6: I mean, I wasn't. I'm never I don't get super
- 1:52:08Speaker 6: high on those guys usually in the draft, like thet
- 1:52:10Speaker 6: they're not the ones that tickle my fancy.
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: But he's actually looked really good to me. Evan mentioned it.
- 1:52:15Speaker 6: But he's got some nice bend, he's fluid. He just
- 1:52:18Speaker 6: doesn't look stiff. A lot of those big guys, they
- 1:52:20Speaker 6: just look stiff. They can't move in space that well,
- 1:52:22Speaker 6: and he seems like he can. So I think they've
- 1:52:24Speaker 6: got to find there. That's been a little bit of
- 1:52:26Speaker 6: the disappointment. But yeah, he's he's a target. They got
- 1:52:29Speaker 6: to figure him out, that's for sure.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Go to guy. Okay, you know with Legett, I just
- 1:52:34Speaker 1: want to throw in this. We're often critical of Oh,
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: they had an opportunity to draft x or why and
- 1:52:41Speaker 1: supposedly he was a guy they were really interested in
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: last year and evidently they were interested in trading up
- 1:52:46Speaker 1: to get couldn't make the deal. I think it was Buffalo. Yeah,
- 1:52:50Speaker 1: might be one that they You know, we talk a
- 1:52:51Speaker 1: lot about Polk and mconkee. Oh McConkie, right, yep. We
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: talked about you had Lad McConkie there and you to
- 1:53:00Speaker 1: Jalen Polk. Well they got away with one touch the bullet.
- 1:53:03Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:53:04Speaker 6: Maybe, like Legette is surprising though, I mean I haven't
- 1:53:08Speaker 6: said it. It's just it almost looks a little bit
- 1:53:09Speaker 6: like poping Drake right now to me with him, like
- 1:53:11Speaker 6: it's just like they're not the timing's off with these guys.
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: He doesn't quite have a feel for him yet, but
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: maybe he'll develop it.
- 1:53:17Speaker 3: Okay, let's go to Saint Louis.
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: Curtis is there?
- 1:53:20Speaker 3: What's up, Curtis?
- 1:53:22Speaker 10: Hey, how you guys doing?
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: Good? Man?
- 1:53:25Speaker 7: Hey?
- 1:53:25Speaker 8: It just in regards to the email earlier about uh,
- 1:53:29Speaker 8: you know, trading for a receiver. I am kind of
- 1:53:31Speaker 8: with Paul on I'd like to see a little more
- 1:53:34Speaker 8: from our guys. I'm also not sure if Rabel would
- 1:53:39Speaker 8: be making any kind of moves like that unless we
- 1:53:41Speaker 8: are looking at like maybe making a wild card in
- 1:53:44Speaker 8: a playoff, you know, closer to the trade deadline.
- 1:53:49Speaker 10: I would say, though, if there.
- 1:53:50Speaker 8: Was one guy that maybe closer to that time, you know,
- 1:53:54Speaker 8: that they could possibly be interested, it would be DJ
- 1:53:57Speaker 8: Moore from uh Chicago. I think he kind of getting
- 1:54:00Speaker 8: arm Sorry, yeah, I think he is kind of getting
- 1:54:02Speaker 8: faded out a little bit in.
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: That offense and just could that Sunday it wasn't.
- 1:54:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, I mean that's Chicago's another team that's
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: showing life.
- 1:54:13Speaker 1: Yeah, I do.
- 1:54:16Speaker 10: But I just I agree.
- 1:54:18Speaker 8: I just think with with you know, Rome Madoon Day
- 1:54:21Speaker 8: and you know, even Lucan Burton, I know, who's kind
- 1:54:23Speaker 8: of had a big game. It's just one game. But
- 1:54:26Speaker 8: I just think that, uh, you know, he just was
- 1:54:29Speaker 8: an option, just something I thought that. Yeah, I think
- 1:54:31Speaker 8: he could be a good weapon.
- 1:54:32Speaker 1: Yeah, but no, I agree with that. I think he
- 1:54:35Speaker 1: would be a good weapon for me. I just don't
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: know why Chicago wants to move on. Like I agree
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: with Fred, I think Chicago's in a very similar position
- 1:54:41Speaker 1: as you are, and you should be in the business
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: of accumulating assets rather than than dealing them off. I
- 1:54:48Speaker 1: think he's a good player. I don't know why Chicago
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: would want to try.
- 1:54:54Speaker 3: Like now in a few years. It could be it
- 1:54:56Speaker 3: could be a like a Bengal situation where you've got
- 1:54:58Speaker 3: three really good receivers.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: Is you can't pay them all, you know, Well, yeah,
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: if you.
- 1:55:04Speaker 8: If you get ahead of that horse, right they've got.
- 1:55:07Speaker 1: But you're not close to that with Adunz in his
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: second year, right like you Yeah, right, thanks, Curtis. I
- 1:55:15Speaker 1: think you're looking at the end of next year before
- 1:55:17Speaker 1: you can even do anything with Adz, and at that point,
- 1:55:21Speaker 1: DJ Moore is probably going to be a little older
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: than what you want to do. Like I think, I
- 1:55:26Speaker 1: think Chicago is probably looking at it. And I like
- 1:55:28Speaker 1: the the player. DJ Moore is a good player. I
- 1:55:31Speaker 1: think he would help a guy like Drake May a lot.
- 1:55:34Speaker 1: I think he's a professional receiver.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, one more call, we'll call it a show.
- 1:55:39Speaker 3: Ben's and Philly, what's up? Ben?
- 1:55:42Speaker 13: Hey, you just wanted to ask what your guys thoughts
- 1:55:44Speaker 13: on The next Patriots assistant coach to be inducted into
- 1:55:48Speaker 13: Patriots Hall of Fame would be. Uh, my pick would
- 1:55:51Speaker 13: have to be Ernie Adam. I realized he's on relection committee.
- 1:55:55Speaker 3: I believe yep, ye, I mean Ernie Adams.
- 1:56:03Speaker 1: He's a great one.
- 1:56:04Speaker 3: I'd put him in.
- 1:56:05Speaker 1: Yeah, he's definitely because he's been here more than just
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: Bill as a coach.
- 1:56:08Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean there's a guy that not a lot
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: of people know about, and he would have to be
- 1:56:14Speaker 3: like a veterans. But Buck o' kilroy was with the organization.
- 1:56:18Speaker 3: He wasn't a coach, but he was a GM and
- 1:56:20Speaker 3: a scout and personnel guy. Pretty prolific.
- 1:56:25Speaker 6: He is pretty prolific, and as I've died, more and
- 1:56:28Speaker 6: more into Patriots history. It's amazing how much he pops
- 1:56:31Speaker 6: up not just for the Patriots but across the league
- 1:56:33Speaker 6: for his scouting methods and really I think one of
- 1:56:36Speaker 6: the guys that revolutionized the game and was here for
- 1:56:39Speaker 6: a long time. You know, there's a lot of there's
- 1:56:41Speaker 6: quite a few of those guys that were part of
- 1:56:43Speaker 6: this Patriots organization that you might not realize off the
- 1:56:46Speaker 6: top of your head, but really have big impacts around
- 1:56:48Speaker 6: the league.
- 1:56:49Speaker 1: You know, even like the coaches we've talked about.
- 1:56:50Speaker 6: The schemes defensively and offensively that you know that they
- 1:56:53Speaker 6: were using in the late seventies were the same roots
- 1:56:56Speaker 6: schemes that they were using under Bill.
- 1:56:58Speaker 1: And you know even in eighty five.
- 1:56:59Speaker 6: Like so, there's a lot of a lot of really
- 1:57:01Speaker 6: cool threads in football history and Patriots history.
- 1:57:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I don't, off the top of my head,
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: I can't think of another. And you know, I'm a
- 1:57:08Speaker 3: hard greater, but I can't think of any other assistant
- 1:57:11Speaker 3: coaches that I would put in the Hall of Fame.
- 1:57:13Speaker 6: I mean, if Josh crushes it with Drake and they like, okay,
- 1:57:15Speaker 6: I have a lot of projecting you I'm talking about
- 1:57:18Speaker 6: as of right now, as of right now, and I
- 1:57:21Speaker 6: could say Ernie is a contributor maybe yeah, but.
- 1:57:25Speaker 1: I don't know. Yep, you know me.
- 1:57:29Speaker 3: Small, small hall, small hall. All right. That's going to
- 1:57:32Speaker 3: be it for this edition of Patriots Unfiltered. We'll be
- 1:57:35Speaker 3: back tomorrow, big day. We got our picks, Paul. Everybody
- 1:57:39Speaker 3: have a good week.
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: No, but you continue to Oh.
- 1:57:41Speaker 3: Okay, well I didn't have a good week.
- 1:57:43Speaker 1: Yep. We will tie on the last place, all right,
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: poop emoji. Hey, this is Deuce. Thanks for tuning into
- 1:57:52Speaker 1: the show. If you really want to help us, make
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: sure you like us wherever.
- 1:57:54Speaker 6: You get your podcasts, like Apple Podcasts or Spotify.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: Also make sure you follow us on the New England
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Patriots YouTube. I want to see this show and everything
- 1:58:01Speaker 1: else that we do here at the Patriots. Thanks a lot.
- 1:58:08Speaker 9: M
