At the beginning of worship services you will often hear said, “we begin worship in the name of God the Father, and Son, and Holy Spirit”, and then the sign of the cross is made over the worshipping community. This part of the service is known as the invocation and many Christians will then make the sign of the cross upon themselves as well.
