- Ted Turner: starting on Saturdays and making a huge impact right off and while I gotta be looking for Dandridge, know, day one, he's going to, you whose position is he taking over? No, I'm not telling you that I'm telling you he's a freshman. There's a true freshman coming in and he's turning some heads. Like a lot of these freshmen and a lot of these portal guys are getting a chance to do in the spring. Obviously, you know, when we get into the fall and we're getting into camp, we're trying to establish what is this team going to look like when it takes the field? out of Camden County, ⁓ South East Georgia in the corner down here. ⁓ so this kid probably would be, it would be one of the guys we look at and we call him a transformer this year. Right. In other words, what he looked like his freshman year to what he looked like now, his sophomore year is other than the six, seven height is totally different. Right. Definitely put on some weight, definitely can tell he's hit the weight room. So, so Georgia obviously Welcome in Dog Nation to another episode of Dogs Down South. So excited to be hanging out with you tonight on the podcast. It is the time of the year where we actually have things to talk about. So that's cool. ⁓ spring football is in the thick of things, right? So we're, ⁓ locking in on the last few practices, ⁓ before G day, ⁓ for all of you who do not know, ⁓ G day is going to be televised. What is, who are the guys that we think are going to give us the most minutes as a freshman, sophomore on and on, and then in the transfer portal, where do we stack and what are we sending out there on the field to help us with an SEC championship and a national championship this year? But, ⁓ it's good to see this. Why? Because one of the things Kirby mentioned this year, just like in last year, when he mentioned important things and he kind of hinted to, Hey, we're going to have to stop the run and we're have to run the football this year. Well. is looking for ways what he can get the ball, obviously packages, but, it helps him when he does these things because he's going to be able to be there on not just package deals, right? You can put him in with the ones with the twos, right? depending on formations and the way you want to do things. And he not be a guy you point to and go, ⁓ wow. Obviously they brought the six, seven kid in there going his way. Right. I think that's important for Elias. He's making the catches. He's making the blocks. this year. So that's exciting. ⁓ something new, right. Coming out of last year where it was like trying to get information. And, I remember dropping a, ⁓ a Tik TOG video of some updates that I got from just people that were able to go to the G day game that lived close to Athens. And that's the only glimpses of anything that I knew. ⁓ and it ended up being a Tik TOG video that broke some records. He made that statement again this year, but he, but he substituted two things. He said this year, we want to be more explosive on offense and we want to create more havoc on defense. So why is seeing this from Craig Dandridge so important? It's because is it a little glimpse into the fact of is Georgia being more explosive with the passing game? Are we seeing more shots downfield? Are we seeing more go up and get it type catches? Right? Are we trusting those wide receivers? He's making the calls. He's doing things the right way. He's doing them well. He definitely not only from a how he looks standpoint is standing out, but also from how he's playing right now. I think big things are coming from Elias Williams, along with all the other tight end room could Lawson lucky lead the sec this year in receptions. Very, very much. So he has the capability of doing it and gunner trusts him as that number one tight end product could eat them bar board do the same. Yes. ⁓ so a lot of things that were hidden last year that are going to be a little bit more present this year and afraid of us to see now, the trick is, is if you don't have ESPN plus, you're not going to be able to watch it. So obviously the only way, only way I know how to get it through ESPN plus is through Hulu. So it will be on there 1 PM, April 18th. ⁓ they're super excited, right? So this is a, we don't really know what to expect. So Kirby smart, I'm obviously entering into. I think this is one of the deepest tight end rooms in the country. And I could see any of these guys, including Jayden Riddell lining up on game one, game two. And I can't tell you who might get the most snaps. It could be just who's got the hottest hand at the time. This is definitely a room that is, is built off of heart. It's built off of fire, passion and energy and kids that want to be at Georgia. could not imagine, ⁓ an Ethan Barbora, Jayden Riddell. outside to win, as well as being able to depend on the people on the inside to, to carry us in some ways, like, like it, like Zachariah branch did last year, right? Light lab, McConkey did in years past. ⁓ but can we get a total balance of our past game this year? So those were just three players who kind of had, if you look at pictures and you look at depictions from the scrimmage, I mean, you can go look for yourself. to opening up about G day and what to expect. And, know, we don't really know if we're going to see, mean, I think, I think it'll stay kind of traditional, ⁓ obviously with little coming out of, ⁓ practices over spring about injuries and things of that nature. Obviously Kirby dropped a big injury list of people we won't see, ⁓ throughout the spring, but during this time, right. We've had some things that we've heard. We've caught glimpses of we've Um, but there's a lot of, uh, you know, it would lead you to believe out there. mean, I saw plays being made not only by Elias, but I did, I saw a nice catch by Ethan Borbore, Barbor. Um, I saw a lot of clips, Phil Rauscher working with the line. I mean, love Phil Rauscher, man. Man, what a guy. Like what, I mean, even I would say right now, even if I, if I didn't trust anything he was doing, if I didn't know the guy from last year and know what he did for our run game last year. being a possibility. I'm not talking about they're going to be, but a possibility of, a rotation where they could be three or four one week and they could be one or two the next and not going, maybe I'm out of here. Maybe I want to, maybe I want to go chase a million dollars, but maybe not get the exposure, the coaching, ⁓ and the value of wanting to be a dog and just play for an SEC championship or play for a national championship, any other place other than Georgia, right? ⁓ with this deep of a tight end room. So, so expecting. caught social media vibes about, we're going to talk about them, but we're going to encompass it all today. But G day is going to be happening on April 18th, 1 PM for our ESPN plus, ⁓ people. And, ⁓ if you don't have ESPN plus, what do they say? Borrow a password or, ⁓ maybe they can FaceTime you in or something like that, but it's going to be an exciting day for Georgia football before we have the long off season. Mull before the exciting part of fall. And it could be a combination of Searles and him, right? Hearing that guy coach and hearing what he's doing is just lining up right for this offensive line. Are we going to see a better version of an offensive line from this year than even last year? If that happens with the backs that we have in that backfield and we can be more explosive on offense, sky's the limit for this team this year, right? And so, I mean, that's what we want. huge things from Elias Williams. you know, we saw some, we saw some things from Gunner that, that would tell the story of, you know, is he okay? And I think, you know, when you look at glory glory in the, in the, pictures that they released, I think they were intentional about some of these pictures to make sure that everybody knew, Hey, Gunner's okay. Um, we're to be fine. Gunner's fine. I'm sure he's being limited in some ways. I don't know how much of him you will see for G-Day. I can imagine not much. Um, and getting to see some live football games before we jump in tonight, we're going to talk a little bit about some things around the sec. I'm kind of flying solo tonight. So we got a lot going on. We're going to talk about news about our transfers. We're going to, mean, a lot of, a lot of people are wanting to know what are our transfers doing? Who's making the biggest impact? Where are they adding the rotation? What they doing? We're going to cover all of that. We're going to talk injury updates, obviously a lot about Gunnar Stockton. And so those are kind of the glimpses that the scrimmage kind of gave away. Now let's, let's transition a little bit here. Let's talk about transfer portal players. lot of people want to know some things, right? We want to know like, all right, so what did some of these guys look like? I heard these names. How are they fitting into systems at Georgia? So let's hit some of them. Obviously a lot of people are talk, want to talk about, ⁓ you know, Isaiah Canyon, right? He looks the part. The one key thing I will tell you before we move on from Gunnar and Elias is, is they have talked a lot about Gunnar and his throwing motion and they've worked on it a little bit over the summer and they've worked on a little bit. ⁓ I'm sorry, not over the summer, over the winter, and then a little bit over the spring. and from what I understand, what I've been told and what I've seen just through watching him in a couple of videos I've seen is working, working on trying to quicken and shorten. A lot about Isaiah Canyon, ⁓ as well as any other ones that maybe are not being talked about. ⁓ and then we're gonna, we're gonna, we're getting close to our hundredth episode here on dogs down South. So thank you for all the support. ⁓ I logged on today and noticed that, ⁓ a lot of our tick tock viewers are tuning in. Thank you for your support. I appreciate it. ⁓ 300 streams on April 2nd. So He's, he's big, he's physical six, four, six, three, six, four kid. Um, the difference in him is he a little, he's a little twitchy. He's a little, he's a little faster, um, at that playing height. Then some of the receivers we've had in the past, stronger, faster. Um, he's a kid out of Warner Robbins that Kirby recruited, um, and didn't land at Georgia for whatever reason, no reason to talk about that right now, but now he's here, right? He's, he's with a couple of guys, uh, from Warner Robbins that his throwing motion on different situations, right? Trying to make it to where he doesn't have to do so much to get the ball out, ⁓ and to get what he needs on the football. Right. We know that a lot of times in the sec you're seeing top tier defenses every single week as well as a lot of areas of college football, right? The deep, the defensive strategies, the game plans, the schemes, and the talent overall is just, it's just really good. ⁓ that's the record for here, us here at dogs down south, crazy enough that we are coming up on our hundredth episode of dogs down south. That's exciting. ⁓ so we're looking forward to that. We may try to do that right around G day. So look, look after it. I look forward then, ⁓ we're also going to talk about, ⁓ scrimmage notes from this past Saturday, ⁓ some things here or there. And then I thought it would be fun at the end to talk about a little all Kirby smart team. If Kirby had to put a team together. You know, it was with Georgia now, ⁓ which helps transition in my opinion. think it all moves so fast, but this is a kid that clearly you can see why we went out and got him. He is out there. I mean, to be a predominant, ⁓ ex-receive like, I mean, he is, he checks all the boxes of a prototypical ex-receive. Who can use his impressive size to make all contested catches. And when I say that, you know, we were seeing that a little bit, obviously now the other news to bring out is. And so those short passes, those quick things, those quick hitters, the things that are, that are slow developing, but need to happen quick, you know, throwing motion is everything. How you can get the ball out, how you can help the line help you is huge. And so from what I'm hearing from a lot of people inside that, ⁓ inside those practices are that they worked on shortening some of his strides, shortening some of his motion, but also understanding, you know, we're trying to be explosive, right? What do we think that team would look like? And I'm curious to see what it would look like for you and to see if it lines up as you make your own. so yeah, and then we're going to, like I said earlier, we're going to cover a little around the sec. So hop in right in real quick. Everybody probably wants to know. Like what was, what was this past Saturday? What did the scrimmage look like? What did we see? ⁓ and obviously there's another scrimmage coming up either this Saturday. I mean, I'm pretty sure it's the Saturday cause then the following Saturday is G day. So. You know, he, he did his status right now. He was harboring a little bit of an ankle injury, sideline him a little bit miss multiple practices, which you don't want to see in the spring. But I think, ⁓ safely, we just kind of shut him down a little bit. I don't know how much you will see of him come G day. I don't know how much you will see of him going forward. ⁓ I know that Kirby will put us in the best spot we possibly can. We feel like Isaiah Canyon is ready to play football for Georgia. So there's no reason to really push that, ⁓ envelope. So we still want to make sure that we're strengthening his, what he's trying to do down the field. So I think it's a, it's a work in progress, but I would tell you that the news is, is they're definitely working on some mechanics and throwing motions of Gunnar Stockton. Just try to give him a little more of a leg up in the passing game for it to be more explosive, but also to be more accurate and to stretch the field and to make the passing game something that has to be 110 % respected. Maybe just not 80 % respected, right? You'll have another scrimmage this Saturday and then the following Wednesday. And so we'll see another layer of what Kirby, ⁓ maybe wants to, ⁓ do in that scrimmage game, but it'll probably be more, ⁓ live than normal because this will be the last one before there's a lot of eyes on this game. Right. ⁓ and I'm just curious to see how this is going to, know, all come together with NIL and everything going on. ⁓ Uh, other names to talk about, um, Dante Dowdell, right? And so you're like, where does Dante Dowdell fit in this scheme? Why do we go out and get a running back? You know, you look at, um, you'll get some of the running backs. We're bringing back with Nate Frazier. look at Chauncey Bowens, you look at, um, you look at Dwight, you look at, and, and, and his development as far as becoming a complete that. Right. And so when you, know, Dwight Phillips, Jr. is going to talk about ⁓ especially with a run game like, like we had last year and then looking at, ⁓ the workload that some of these guys could get coming back and the talent we have coming back to that running back room. Here's the last person I want to mention, right? And a lot of people have mentioned this guy's name. So Craig Dandridge is the guy that you might hear mentioned a little bit, right? If you see the clip from glory glory, you see this guy going up and he's extending and he's making a really, it looks like he's getting ready to make a really solid catch and go get it from what I understand in that picture. The only thing, only thing good about it this year is after the G day game is there's no spring portal. ⁓ so that's really, really good to know. And, really exciting because, know, everybody kind of the spring portal is kind of a, was a weird time anyway. Right. So it's like these, these guys go through spring practice. I think they get an observation of what they think is going to happen. It's more like a, call it like a dog and pony show, right? It's like, I might be playing this year. What is my status? These coaches have to have to come off of like. So, so when you look at that, you're like, so where does, you know, where does Dante Dowdell fit in that? So obviously he's an SEC running back. He played, he played for Kentucky last year, but you know, Josh McCray was, it was a, was a back that Kirby and Mike Bobo really loved last year. ⁓ he was able to come in and get those dirty yards, those goal line yards, those third ones, those, just a lot of different options we have with Josh McCray. He did catch the ball very impressive went up and got the ball. This has been a guy that stood out as a freshman. Now is this am I telling you this is going to be a guy you see? 20, 30 days of practicing now to have conversations with what ifs with these players and things that nation that really don't pertain to developing and building a roster, which is something in this part of the year is momentum to go into the summer and to build on an early fall. And so I just think it was useless and kind of glad it's gone. So let's hop right in scrimmage is past Saturday. So what people are wanting to know number one, gunner stock. So a lot of people. ⁓ at times, do I look back and go, were times we used, ⁓ Josh McCray and it kind of, I kind of scratched my head. Yes. But, but for the most part, Dante down there, I think has a little more God gifted speed. ⁓ but I do think he still has the bruiser mentality like McCray did. And I think he could be a guy that fits in that role and gets those, what we call, ⁓ hard, sweaty junky yards that we need. He's going to be a key piece. I think he's already fitting in. talked about Gunnar Stockton and there was, you know, news broke from Kirby, ⁓ that Gunnar was having a little bit of, ⁓ of some injury problems with a knee that he did something to just over the off season throughout the agility and weight training programs. Okay. So first off, let me just go ahead and tell you, really, really well. mean, he's, earned praise in the short yardage, but also in his practice effort and work that he's brought over from Kentucky. ⁓ his experience is going to, is going to be huge. He's already him and Chauncey and Nate are already really close. So it's really good to see that that guy, ⁓ coming in and doing things. Well, Bryson Beaver, I think I just jacked his name up earlier, right? ⁓ pretty bad. Sorry. ⁓ you know, we're not pro podcast. We're just doing this for. news coming out right now. Now there's a couple of affiliates if you want to tune into that can do two things. Number one, you can find more out about Georgia football rather than getting a, not pulling away from subscriptions from anybody like on three or dog nation daily or, ⁓ or any of those places. ⁓ but, ⁓ glory glory is the, if you haven't heard of it, it's the new NIL, ⁓ collective, ⁓ for fun, Bryson Beavers, who has, talked about Beaver. He's technically a transfer. I talked about it earlier, but at the moment, you know, kid that comes in a lot of upside, really live arm. It's one thing I will say about Georgia's recruiting in the last few go arounds is between Puglisi Montgomery and now, ⁓ Bryson Beaver. ⁓ these guys have really live arms, man. And so It's kind of like a fundraiser type thing. So it gives you access, depending on what status you are to, ⁓ hearing more about spring practice, insider news going on with Georgia sports and athletics, ⁓ all the way up to some of the premier lines of the, ⁓ what we would call membership plans that give you a lot of access to what's going on around not only Georgia football, but all sports, ⁓ around the university of Georgia. ⁓ a lot of people have spoken about Puglisi and the liveness of his arm. so, ⁓ I think the sky's the limit for Beaver. I mean, we've seen him throw. He obviously doesn't get as many reps as others. And he, this is going to be a year where you go, where does he really, where does he fit into the scheme with our quarterbacks? Right. But in a, in an era in NIL where things can happen on the drop, but dying hopefully now only once a year. ⁓ and then in the future, possibly only, only once period, ⁓ unless you're going to sit out. Also that money goes directly into the NIL budget and the NIL funds the NIL program. And so I don't know if you guys heard it, but Kirby mentioned it his very first presser of the year. He said, Hey look, we can double the glory glory subscriptions. We can wear all white. I don't care. We'll do whatever the freak you want. So, ⁓ Hey, there's two things you can get out of this. Number one, you can get to see more content that you, that you want to see in an era where content is not only scarce. I think it's really good that not signing a two 20, 27 quarterback and getting this guy is huge. Um, and I think the more and more you see him, we might get a chance to see him a little bit. Um, in a G day, this is a huge get for Georgia, especially if this is somebody that Dan landing and I think we'll Stein and Kentucky recruited him as well. And he landed at Oregon. Um, and we all know what Oregon tries to do on offense. So this is a, this is a big yet, uh, for Georgia. Also some notables. Um, but very well covered. And so it's like, if they don't want you to see who's throwing a touchdown to somebody or an interception to somebody, you're not seeing it. I mean, there's people jobs that are involved around what they allow out to the public every day. And so it's very important. Um, as you see this information, sometimes you're not seeing the, the true story behind what's going on. You're only seeing what, um, Georgia athletics and Kirby smart want you to see. Okay. So gunner. Tyke has Richardson. What do people know about Tyke? As Richardson obviously came to us from Alabama and AM, ⁓ three seasons of eligibility, Lorraine, you know, big kid, man, three, three 40 plus. you know, this is, this is a crowded offensive line room. You know, I mentioned 19 offensive linemen on the roster. ⁓ but this is a kid that obviously Georgia went after a size. ⁓ and you kind of scratch your head and go like, where is, where is Rauscher going with this? We know. Yes. He was dealing with it, with it, with a little bit of, ⁓ of, of an injury on his knee. There was no surgery required. Right. So for an example, this was, this was something that it was just a time will tell type thing, ⁓ healing process. ⁓ don't do this. Don't do that. So the noticeable thing in the scrimmage from this past Saturday was that Gunnar had a black athletic sleeve on that right knee. Okay. That's that's. We know what we feel like Stacey Searles, ⁓ was trying to do in Pittman when he was here, it seemed like it was more of the battleship effect. And when you look at Akina Boko, who we're going to talk about here in a second as well. ⁓ and you look at that, we, are we in John Jackson? Are we going away a little bit from the battleship three forties plus I say that, then you see one guest on to a more, ⁓ you know, a more mobile. For some people that's when he's throwing off that right leg and he's on the run type things is when you can kind of see what's going on with that. would be in his throwing motion. It was, it would be his back leg from his throwing motion as him being right-handed. ⁓ so realistically, as far as what was seen live did not look like he had anything holding him back. He made some throws on the run. ⁓ he did some really nice things in the passing game. ⁓ lineman, little bit less battleship and more kind of cruiser status, ⁓ that can move that can, that can block in a way that has just, you know, lot more built in strength, not necessarily mass. ⁓ who knows? I don't know. We'll see a little bit of that DNA footprint as Rauscher still, you know, kind of makes himself known in the present and the future of recruiting. But this is one kid that's following more along the lines of when, Pittman and when A lot of this scrimmage was built off of just basic, Hey, we want to line up and we want to do fundamental things. Correct. Okay. Remember these are not scrimmages leading up to the regular season. These are scrimmages that are just happening during spring. Just to, just to kind of give these guys a reason to compete a little bit in the middle of the coaching, in the middle of the correcting, in the middle of the Kirby smart on the microphone in your junk all the time. It's a, it's a way to compete. ⁓ Searles was recruiting on this line because this is a big kid. ⁓ do we know how much we'll see if Tyke has, ⁓ this is a loaded room. I don't know if we'll see a lot of him, but our hopes is, is that he comes in, he's able to get more developed. got three years of eligibility. And, ⁓ I mean, they're expecting depth from him and, and a lot of, a lot of things that are needed to talk about what we did earlier, just to let some of these quarterbacks, let some of these players on first, second and third. And to go good versus good, get some of these young players, some quality time against live action other than just drills. And so for the most part, gunner looked really good. Um, now a lot of people have said, what ifs, right? Um, we'll let's just dabble in this a little bit. Okay. The what ifs are understandable right now. I don't think as a Georgia van, you need to be worried about what ifs, what kind of, right? Um, I think if Kirby smart does. what we call it strings or, or, uh, depth loads, um, be able to go. And then he offers that right. Uh, other names to know Amaris Williams. Now Amaris Williams was very popular because of the fact that, you know, the whole thing with Elias Williams, right. And then of course Kirby hits the presser and says, you know, uh, he actually stepped on his foot. That really wasn't what happened. And you know, somebody asked her the other day, they're like, what do you, what do you believe about that statement? And I said, something better than any coach out there, uh, besides not reporting on things that lead to either speculation or truth. Um, he, he, he really says it kind of like it is like, I don't think, you know, if Gunnars Stockton had an injury right now, her piece of type of coach, he'll tell you, might not go into, to, to the long depths of what it is, but he will tell you, he's like, look, he's, he's been out. Right. Um, and he hasn't been able to practice. Absolutely nothing. I think he, I he got blown up. think, you know, ⁓ the sec is tricky. Georgia practices different. just do Georgia practices different. ⁓ and a lot of people are going to look at me like, well, I understand you practice different. Kirby smart is different. He's this than the other, but when you start looking at production, what is that giving you? Well, it's giving you, ⁓ a lot, know, you still have to compete. You still have to go out there and out scheme. You still have to go out there and It's like, he'll tell you that. And we went through some of that last year on a lot of different levels. And, ⁓ I think it's been made a lot more transparent with how we have to report injuries in the sec during the season. So I think it's just natural. ⁓ it was just, just, ⁓ what do you call it? I would just call it like, this is what we do. Right. So there's really no buttering it up or taking it down. It's just, here's the, here's what we got. put players on the field and they have to make right decisions. They have to make good decisions and they have to be able to know where to go and what to do. We don't really dabble into it a lot because we don't want you to start speculating something that is not true. ⁓ and just kind of taking it out there, making a story of it. So for the most part, you know, what if we dabble in this, if, if not Gunnar who, right? So obviously Ryan Puglisi is a guy we've talked about a lot about, you know, may not have the electric legs that Gunnar has, but he's been known to come across as the talk of the more electric arm, the more ready NFL arm talent, right? so forth and so on, but it's also adding a layer of these players are ready when they get into the league. They're ready. There's a, there's an old saying about Georgia players is, is we'll take our chances with them, not on just talent alone, but knowing they know how to practice. know expectations are team players and they want to come in here and vie for championships and not just be about themselves. That says a lot about, ⁓ a player in the NFL, especially, ⁓ in this day and age. ⁓ he's a Georgia guy. He's somebody who I think you will see wait, ⁓ as far as we're concerned right now, unless, and this is early, you know, this is 2026, right? In the 2020s. We're not talking about 27, 28 yet, but like, he's a guy that you look and go, if, if everything kind of settles in is Ryan Puglisi, the guy moving forward after gunner, would say right now with no portal, no talk of anything, anything seen during the year, injuries, non injuries. So, you know, Amaris, what I'm continuously hearing is his Twitch. He's been getting a lot of reps to the outside linebacker position. Why? Because Gabe Harris is obviously not working out during the spring as far as, ⁓ you know, getting better, ⁓ from his off season, ⁓ injury and, ⁓ recovery status. So Amaris is getting a lot of reps. He's not wasting them. I mean, I'm seeing, I'm hearing and seeing great things from Amaris. think. Nothing we don't know. Yes. He is the backup at Georgia. Although there is a lot of talk coming out of camp that Ryan Montgomery is pushing him pretty well. ⁓ Ryan Montgomery obviously is the prototypical Georgia style, Mike Bobo quarterback. ⁓ very headsy guy, ⁓ student of the game type guy has kind of the legs and frame like a Gunner Stockton, ⁓ really good arm was a really gutsy player in high school. If you remember correctly, he came off at ACL. His explosiveness, his ability to cause havoc. ⁓ even when you saw him at Auburn, he was a guy that when I go back and pull tape from the Georgia Auburn game, he caused some problems for our offensive line. And so if you don't think that George is looking at that going, ⁓ yeah, he caused some havoc and problems for us. Like we'd much rather have that guy on our side of the ball, making those, you know, causing that havoc and causing that disruption against some other teams that were playing. So. ⁓ I think there's a huge upside for Amiris. ⁓ Khalil Barnes, ⁓ this is probably the brightest spot for Georgia in the portal. Okay. So Khalil has come in and he's done some really great things. ⁓ not only at the safety position, which you, think you're going to possibly see Khalil. I don't really know. It just depends, but I think you might see him playing more at the star. And I think Dinkins might get a little more looks, ⁓ you know, alongside KJ. ⁓ He dove right into college early with that ACL injury to get the best, ⁓ to get the best care that he needed. ⁓ he recovered really well and was right in there last year learning, repping part of the practice squad team. And his guy has been just, these are two guys that have just been really big Georgia guys, ⁓ has a kind of millinder as well. Like these guys have all worked really, really hard. ⁓ and so super excited about that. Andrew Beaver coming over from. But I don't know. mean, when you look at it at the end of the day, I mean, he's, he has the ability to play anywhere back there. And honestly, that's what Georgia wants. That's what, you know, that's what Kirby wants. He wants you to be versatile. If you need to move strong, if you need to move free, if you need to move to star, but we also know that the star has been a place where, ⁓ NFL prospects have been born in Georgia's lineup. Right. We're going to talk a little bit about him in a minute in the transfer portal coming over to us from Oregon. He was technically a transfer because he was with Oregon. And then once Dylan Raiola committed, ⁓ he kind of was like, all right, this is good. And, and, you know, we're going to talk about it later, but the Bevers is incredibly important because we didn't sign a quarterback in the 2020 seventh class. huge for them to get Beaver to come over here and we're to hear a little bit about what he's doing. But, you know, you look at these guys and you look at Puglisi, then you look at, ⁓ So not to mention that's the only reason why, but it's definitely a position that Khalil looks at and goes, well, if that's where they want me and that's where they need me, I know I can make strides here to help us win championships. But I also know that I'm going to be put on display every single week in this position, but a huge bright spot. He's one of those guys that will come up in the, you know, in the box and thump you. He's a, he's smart guy. He's a smart coverage guy. He adds something that's drastically needed that we talked about was You look at Montgomery, these guys are very much capable of taking the roll all now. What are the chances of, know, you can go down the line as easy championship nine, 10, 11 win season, undefeated season and making the playoffs national championship. would definitely tell you that those are much higher with Gunner Stockton this year. ⁓ but I can't rule anything out. I would just tell you that, ⁓ one thing that always helps me trust the process. He plays, he's used to playing me in coverage. ⁓ he played in, he played in a Brent Venables defense, ⁓ at Clemson early on and as a freshman and obviously has come through the ranks of many good defenses, ⁓ including now Georgia's. I think this is going to be a kid that's going to turn some heads this year. excited about Khalil others to note, Jamari Riddle is a guy that we went and got from East Carolina. Hasn't seen a lot of, a lot of reps this, ⁓ with what a backup would look like coming off the bench. Georgia's known for, ⁓ living and dying by the backup, right? mean, I think we can all say between Stetson Bennett, between Jake from, and many more that it's like, if those guys don't come off the bench and clutch situations and are repping during practice and are doing the things they need to do, ⁓ as a student of the game and getting the opportunities they do, they would not have been the quarterbacks. They were at the university of Georgia when they were here. And so this summer, just trying to get it on the field, right? He's coming off an injury as well. ⁓ but a lot of upside looking for, ⁓ for Jamari Riddle. ⁓ so yeah, those are as far as the transfer portal and there's, there's a couple more here and there. mean, Gentry Williams could be talked about. think he's going back and forth. The kid from Oklahoma, he's going back and forth with the mellow right now. ⁓ but, but definitely showing signs of, mean, once again, in a, he's played in the Brent Venables defense. That gives me hope. also hear Kirby talk all the time about, know, we don't sell you as you're going to get the most money through NIL here. We don't sell you about, you're going to get to start as a freshman. What we do sell you out is what we do sell you about is, is the fact that you're going to get the most reps here, right? You're going to get to be developed. You're going to get coached the hardest here. You're going to get the most opportunity to rep, rep, rep. And it's, very evident, you know, not many teams have ⁓ this is a quarterback room at Oklahoma that when it had to go hit the portal really hard, think Gentry was actually going to be same over at Oklahoma, vying for that starting spot over there. So it wasn't like he just was hopeless. ⁓ so to hear the fact that he, you know, dropped the Georgia, he's going to offer, ⁓ some, he's going to compete, but he's also going to offer some really incredible depth for us, ⁓ in that position. ⁓ a third layer of a practice squad. see some remnants of the second string players that actually have to be in the football game that are repping the practice squad on some teams, especially in an NIL era. Right. hate that we have to go back to that, but it's basically word. It's what we're going to be using for a long, time. ⁓ so that's huge. That's that's key in getting reps, getting the, the, the time you need. mean, when Ryan Montgomery, Andrew Beaver, and So, ⁓ other notable things. we went through, we went through some scrimmage stuff. went through notable transfer talks. ⁓ so G day updates, what to watch for. So what are we expecting on G day? think we're going to save the all Kirby team for the next go at it. ⁓ which is, ⁓ we might save the all Kirby team for the, for the hundred episode, but before we get off tonight, I want to talk through G day updates, what to watch for. Okay. Gunner and has a cat that when they're all getting in and Ryan Polisi, when they're all getting anywhere from 50 to 90 throws in practice, because we have 19 offensive lineman scholarship, that's an incredible number, right? ⁓ that just says a lot about the program here at Georgia and that way, and what Kirby's doing now, let's move, let's move forward real quick. What were other people that turned heads? ⁓ in this last scrimmage. So let's talk about Elias Williams, right? Obviously big six, seven kid So obviously on the offense, what am I wanting to see on offense at G day? I want to see, ⁓ you know, just being honest with you, just to answer, you know, questions from a lot of fans out there. want to see Gunner stock and I want to make sure what I see lines up with what I'm hearing, ⁓ to know that he's healthy and he's good to go. I want to see this arm motion. want to see what this difference is, or if it has even made a difference, or if it's just talk, right. I don't say all this stuff on here just so you buy into it and go, well, Gunner's stock is going to come out there with a brand new arm motion. No, I just think that there might be some things he tweaked or we've looked at. would, I'm interested to see like, if I can really catch it and see what, a difference it's going to make in the long haul, I'm really excited to see all these new numbers, right? A lot of new numbers, including Chauncey Bowens, we're in five honoring Garrison Hurst got Talon Taylor moving to one. instead of 11. So he's, he's, he's sporting a really, really, I would call it a, a very important number in Georgia history in a lot of ways, but just recently from Zachariah branch wearing it and being a go-to playmaker for Georgia last year, you know, and, and, and believe me, Talon Taylor is not being talked about right now, but Talon Taylor is growing up right in front of our eyes. I think he's going to be a breakout player for us this year. ⁓ along with all the other people I didn't mention, I mean, we could, we could go, there's, plenty of shows leading up to G day, but you know, Sakovi White-Helton, I'm super, I'm super excited about seeing him, ⁓ his ability to just stick with it, ⁓ and be a team player and go, my turn's coming. I really think this, this could be something where you go. I'm not thinking about this guy, but I think Sakovi White-Helton has a lot to offer us of similar nature that. Zachariah Branch did as well. London Humphreys, hearing some great things about him. He was the guy that was targeted a lot last year. I'm CJ Wiley had a really great scrimmage. He's been doing some really good things. That could go on and on. ⁓ But you'll see him more. We're going to cover the scrimmage from Saturday later on next week, as well as leading up to G-Day. We're going to cover G-Day. What I want to see from the wide receivers, who's separating from the pack, right? Do we feel like CJ Wiley is miles ahead of You may fill in the blank. Do we feel like we know that Sokovi White Helton is going to be that go to in the slot that fills some of those Zachariah branches touches. ⁓ are we going to be a team that on paper we're looking at, know, because Zachariah branch was a guy that we wanted to get the ball in space short and short scenarios. Is that how we go about doing it this year? Right. ⁓ so forth, so on, obviously the run game, we want to see each level. We want to see some of these young guys as Bo Walker has he kind of taking that next step. What does Jay Lamar look like? What does Dowdell look like as a transfer? Are we seeing a more twitchy, a little more stronger Nate Frazier? We're gonna be working with Nate Frazier a lot to catch the ball out of the backfield a little bit more on third down. So some of those scenarios, what does that look like? How aggressive is our tight end room? How deep are we really in the tight end room? And obviously we want to see what that offensive line looks like. How we're rotating and what we think we'll see come that first game in August, September. ⁓ on defense intensity, ⁓ does the front dominate? we causing havoc? Are we causing a ton of just havoc, right? If we can't get the quarterback down, are we causing, ⁓ extreme to rest to the quarterback? Are we putting them in situations where he's got to make throws? ⁓ and it's unsettling. ⁓ albeit just running around chasing the quarterback, right? That's not havoc. That's just, we're on a little bit of a chase, right? we want to see how, I honestly want to see how well this defense or the secondary is covering. Right. We asked our defense to do so much last year in man coverage and cover for so long. That's why it's so important that we get pressure this year. Right. It just, I mean, it's kind of remedial to say, but it's like, it just makes sense. Right. The light, the least amount that your secondary has to cover is the more effective they're going to be at making plays for you. Right. ⁓ and then lastly, it's just, let's, let's just see how deep this linebacker room is. ⁓ how good it can be. think we all know what it could be, but realistically, what is the upside? What can it really be? It could be one of the, even though the defensive line is being talked about as one of the strongest ones, ⁓ in the past three or four years to step foot on the, on the field or Georgia. This could be a, this could be a year where, you know, we've talked about how great the linebacker rooms are, but who are going to be the standouts? Is it just Raylin? Is it just Justin Williams? Is it just, you know, you, you name it. Is it some things we don't really know? Right. ⁓ I know a lot of people are like Chris Cole, you know, breakout year. There's go had a really great year last year. ⁓ and I do think this is his turning point year. Like does he get hidden in the, in the back? You know, does he get, is he able to put on the weight, put on the muscle and actually get the separation so that he can be the next, maybe, I don't know, Jaylen Walker or, ⁓ you know, next big pass rusher for Georgia. Can he break through and get that this year? Right. Or is he kind of stagnant again? You know, it'll tell a lot about where Chris Cole's going in his development. ⁓ so that's huge things, ⁓ that we're looking forward to. So, ⁓ we're going to wrap it up, but, I mean, it hit a lot of stuff tonight. It hit a lot of stuff tonight. And, ⁓ before I even wrap it up, I just want to make sure I get all this in.
