- 0:18Hello, and welcome to episode 106 of the All Systems Go Sports
- 0:23Betting podcast powered by Rhythm.
- 0:26I'm your host, Josh Applebaum. What's going on everyone?
- 0:33Happy Tuesday. Another day here in the arena,
- 0:36guys going through our work week and we are one day closer to
- 0:39September, turning the page, trying to finish up August here
- 0:42on a hot note before it gets to the month of September where
- 0:45everything heats up, including NFL week 1, only a couple weeks
- 0:49away. College football.
- 0:51Obviously we'll have a big Saturday here upcoming, but
- 0:54until then, we're going to continue to grind Major League
- 0:57Baseball. So for today, I have a four pack
- 1:00of sweats that I'm excited to share with you, including three
- 1:04money lines in one total, which is extremely interesting to me.
- 1:07And again, you've heard me say it before, most likely, but I'm
- 1:10not a huge total guy in League Baseball.
- 1:12However, I don't look for totals.
- 1:14I let the totals scream at me, scream at me, play me because
- 1:18it's a total here today that jumped out to me with a
- 1:20ridiculous low bets, higher dollars bet percentage as well
- 1:24as a great contrarian reverse line move over opportunity.
- 1:27And little cherry on top here. Our friends at Juice Reel have a
- 1:31great sharp mush indicator where 63% of the betters in the app
- 1:35are going over, yet 63% of the worst betters in the app are
- 1:40going under. So that's a 25% Juice Reel edge
- 1:43and shout out to the Juice Reel because they helped us cash last
- 1:46night. The Phills bit of a sweat there.
- 1:48They got down early, but the Phillies were able to come back
- 1:51late with a walk off hit by Bryce Harper.
- 1:54So last night had the Phills got a good winner with the Tigers
- 1:57overall two and two, though minus 0.7 units.
- 2:00The disappointing games were the Twins because I went to that
- 2:04game saying, hey, I want to back Bailey over.
- 2:06This guy's been incredible. And then what happens?
- 2:08Think he gave up nine runs in the first two innings.
- 2:10So that's baseball guys throwing the ball great.
- 2:13He gets lit up again, what can you do?
- 2:15Sometimes that happens. And then WNBA Liberty Mercury
- 2:19over 166 really didn't come close and that one was a
- 2:23frustrating one to watch because I was excited to watch it on NBA
- 2:26TV and just could not keep the scoring going so weren't able to
- 2:29get that over. So overall, 2 and 2 -, 0.7 units
- 2:33from last night. That just sets us up for a nice
- 2:36bounce back, hopefully winning night here for tonight.
- 2:39So without further ado, as I mentioned 4 pack of of Major
- 2:43League Baseball bats, including three money lines as well as one
- 2:48total. So without further ado, let's
- 2:50dive right in first one on the board.
- 2:52Let's go to a matchup here that looks fishy looks obvious take
- 2:56this dog getting plus money playing very well.
- 2:59Nope, I'm going to go the other way.
- 3:00I'm going to go with the favorite.
- 3:01So I'm talking about a 6:40 PM Eastern Time first pitch between
- 3:05the Kansas City Royals and the Cleveland guardians.
- 3:08Now going to this one, the Royals, 74 and 58, they swept
- 3:12yesterday's doubleheader, series opening doubleheader.
- 3:16They won the first game, four to three as -125 Rd. ferrets and
- 3:19then one again, 9:00 to 4:00 as a + 120 Rd. dog.
- 3:23Now for tonight's rematch, the Royals are going to go with
- 3:26ready Michael Lorenzen. He's seven and six with a 3.47
- 3:30ERA. Meanwhile, the Guardians, who
- 3:32are 75 and 57, they're going to go with fellow ready Gavin
- 3:35Williams. He's two and six with a 5.13
- 3:38ERA. So we'll be seen across the
- 3:40board here. While this game opened with
- 3:43Cleveland listed around a -, 145 home favorite and Kansas City
- 3:47around a + 125 road dog. And my first thought was, hey,
- 3:50this is probably going to be a public play just to take Kansas
- 3:53City. They swept the doubleheader
- 3:55yesterday. Obviously, they're red hot right
- 3:57now. Bobby Witt Junior, one of the
- 3:59most exciting young players in the game.
- 4:01So how do you not take the Royals getting plus 125?
- 4:04Well, it looks like wise guys are going the other way in a
- 4:07bounce back spot to back Cleveland.
- 4:09So that's where I want to go because Cleveland Guardians, you
- 4:11know, basically this bet split is around 5050.
- 4:14Just slightly more than 50% of bets are on Cleveland.
- 4:17Yet we've seen this line move toward the Guardians.
- 4:19Guardians opened again -145 now they're up to -155 and I see one
- 4:25book even closer to -160 so basically a 5050 bet split or
- 4:30you know, technically around 54% of bets on Cleveland.
- 4:33The line shouldn't really get juiced up and move 10-15 cents.
- 4:37We know that that big move isn't just caused by that slight
- 4:40higher than 50%. That's what it's really because
- 4:42of pro money coming down on Cleveland to hopefully get back
- 4:45on track. So in addition to this pretty
- 4:47good steam move in their direction, Cleveland kind of
- 4:50that classy fishy betting system value as a favorite off loss,
- 4:54playing an opponent off a win. That system is upwards of 62%
- 4:57this year and then also an ultimate buy low sell high play
- 5:01because the guardians are struggling.
- 5:02They're three and eight over their last eleven games.
- 5:05Royals meanwhile, nine and three over their last 12.
- 5:08So if one team's playing great, the other team is struggling,
- 5:11Why is the team playing great getting more of a payout, a
- 5:14bigger payout? Why are they getting more plus
- 5:16money? Why are the odds makers giving
- 5:18out more of a payout to those who want to back the Royals?
- 5:21Well, tells me that they like that wise guys like the angle
- 5:24with Cleveland here tonight. So the fact of the line move
- 5:27toward Cleveland and a fishy spot.
- 5:29Also, Cleveland, one of the best home teams in baseball.
- 5:32They are 40 and 23 at home, third best and Major League
- 5:36Baseball. Also, they are the best chalk
- 5:38team in Major League Baseball. When they are favored, they're
- 5:41winning roughly 70% of the time. And here's one advantage,
- 5:44hopefully tonight that will come through for us, the bullpen,
- 5:47because Guardians bullpen, the ERA of 2.77, that's the second
- 5:51best in baseball. Meanwhile, the Royals 4.39 ERA,
- 5:56they are 24th in Major League Baseball.
- 5:58So it seems the obvious bet is just take the Royals getting
- 6:01plus money. But if it looks too good to be
- 6:02true, typically it is. I'm going to go with this kind
- 6:05of fishy steam move in favor of the Guardians.
- 6:07Give me Cleveland. I got the Guardians earlier
- 6:09today around -155 Now you're looking at Cleveland upwards of
- 6:13-160 next. But on the board, let's go to
- 6:17old Milwaukee, 8:10 PM Eastern Time, first pitch, the San
- 6:21Francisco Giants at the Milwaukee Brewers.
- 6:24Now going to this one. The Giants are pretty much 566
- 6:28and 66. Just dropped two or three
- 6:30against the Mariners. They lost Sunday series finale
- 6:33four to three as a + 120 Rd. dog.
- 6:36Meanwhile, the Brew Crew 75 and 55.
- 6:38I got to give him credit. I thought when Kristen Yelich
- 6:40got hurt for done for the year, they would take a nosedive.
- 6:43Really haven't missed a beat 20 games above 500.
- 6:46Just took two or three against the A's.
- 6:48Couldn't get the sweep, though. Lost that series finale four to
- 6:51three as a -, 145 road favorite. So for tonight's series opener,
- 6:56the Giants are going to send out their ace Logan Webb, the righty
- 6:5911 and eight 3.13 ERA. And the Brew Crew are going to
- 7:03counter it with fellow righty Tobias Myers, six and five 2.87
- 7:07ERA. So what have you seen across the
- 7:09market here? Well, this game opened with a
- 7:12slight favorite of the San Francisco Giants because the
- 7:15Giants went into this one very short -115 road favorite,
- 7:19Brewers A+ around even money or a -, 105 home dog.
- 7:23And basically, the public doesn't know where to go.
- 7:25It's 5050 right down the middle, yet this line is moving toward
- 7:29Milwaukee. We've seen the Brewers open -105
- 7:33now they're flipped to a favorite -115 so again, 5050
- 7:37line move. Theoretically, the line really
- 7:40shouldn't move at all if the tickets are even.
- 7:41However, we've seen this line flip dog to fave in favor of
- 7:45Milwaukee. Tells me smart money is backing
- 7:48the Brewers here tonight going from -105 to -115 so dog to fave
- 7:53line move on the Brew Crew. I love this bet split on
- 7:56Milwaukee. The Brewers are only getting 53%
- 7:58of money line bets, but 84% of money line dollars.
- 8:03A notable low bets higher dollars bet split basically half
- 8:06the tickets, but nearly nine out of $10 tells us the big money
- 8:09here is going Milwaukee. Now Milwaukee has a couple
- 8:12advantages here. One would be a non division
- 8:15favorite. So lack of familiarity
- 8:17benefiting quote UN quote the better team.
- 8:19Also a favorite low total told this one is a very low 7 1/2.
- 8:23So if your amount of expected run scored more likely to come
- 8:25from quote UN quote that better team.
- 8:28And not only am I going to bank on hopefully Myers pitching well
- 8:31tonight. We'll get to him in a second,
- 8:32but Milwaukee's got the better bats.
- 8:34Hopefully their offense shows up and gets to web tonight.
- 8:36They're hitting 253 on the year, 626 runs scored.
- 8:41San Fran's hitting 242 with 568 runs scored.
- 8:45Home Rd. splits also favor the Brewers.
- 8:47They're 38 and 24 at home. Giants, meanwhile, just 28 and
- 8:5138 away from the Bay and Logan Webb, good pitcher.
- 8:55I've liked him for a few years now at this point, but he has
- 8:58been worse on the road than at home.
- 8:59At home, 2.26 ERA, on the road 4.11.
- 9:04And also day and night splits. I've been kind of looking into
- 9:07this just to see if there's any discrepancy.
- 9:09Maybe a guy pitches good in the day or bad at night or vice
- 9:12versa. Well, Logan Webb in the day he's
- 9:15great. 2.57 ERA, at night 3.48 his ERA goes up a full run in
- 9:20night starts. Also, Myers, maybe not the
- 9:23household name you would think of, like obviously Logan Webb,
- 9:28but he has a 2.05 ERA in four August starts.
- 9:31He's only given up five earned runs and 22 innings pitched.
- 9:35And again, whole day and night, he has a 2.28 ERA at night, 3.68
- 9:41in the day. So he's pitched much better at
- 9:43night than in the day. We add it all up here guys.
- 9:46It opened a very, very short Giants favorite number here.
- 9:49And even though they're aces on the bump and the tickets are
- 9:51split down the middle, the big money, nearly 90% is going with
- 9:55Milwaukee. So let's make some beer tonight.
- 9:57What do you guys say? I'm going beer makers with a
- 10:00good dog to fave line move. I got Milwaukee at -115 next one
- 10:05for you, 9:40 PM Eastern Time, first pitch, Tampa Bay Rays and
- 10:09the Seattle Mariners. Now going into this one, we have
- 10:12the Mariners 67 and 65. They won last night's series
- 10:16opener 5 to one, taking care of business as a -, 130 home
- 10:20favorite. For tonight's rematch, the Rays,
- 10:23who are 65 and 66, they're going to send out Jeffrey Springs, the
- 10:26lefty he was hurt much of the early portion of the year.
- 10:30Come back and pitch for about a month now.
- 10:31He's one and two 4.5 O ERA Mariners meanwhile, going to go
- 10:36with their righty stud, Logan Gilbert, 7:00 and 10:00, but a
- 10:393.21 era. So what have you seen across the
- 10:42market here? Well, this guy, this line open
- 10:44with Seattle listed around a -, 140 home favorite and we've seen
- 10:48Seattle now get bet up to -155 -, 160.
- 10:53So right off the bat, we have about a 15 or 20 cent steam move
- 10:56in favor of the Mariners. Now this looks to me like both a
- 10:59pro and Joe Bet split. Maybe the public is just leaning
- 11:02Mariners with a better record and at home, whereas not just
- 11:06the public, but wise guys who are moving the number are also
- 11:08going Mariners. And remember, sharps don't care
- 11:10what the public's doing. You know, they're not
- 11:12data-driven betters. They're really betting based on
- 11:14their number. So maybe when this open Mariners
- 11:17-140 they had closer to a -, 150 -, 160, which is why they
- 11:21hammered Seattle early. But currently around 75% of
- 11:25money line bets in dollars on the Mariners.
- 11:27So good pro and Joe split. I'm going to bank on the
- 11:30Mariners offense now they're they don't hit very well.
- 11:32They're hitting like 2:15, but they're much more explosive than
- 11:35the rays. They've hit 146 homers, they've
- 11:38scored 521 runs. The Rays have hit only 121
- 11:42homers and scored 503 runs. Seattle, just like we talked
- 11:47about with Milwaukee, has that favorite value of a non division
- 11:52favorite. With the lack of familiarity
- 11:54benefiting quote UN quote the better team, but in particular
- 11:57good correlative betting value. This total is very low.
- 12:00We could see a low scoring game here.
- 12:01The total here is 6 1/2. You rarely see a 6 1/2 nowadays,
- 12:06but with such a low total 6 1/2 and the Mariners upwards of -160
- 12:11you know this smells kind of like AI don't know 3 nothing
- 12:14Mariners win something like that, But we got the favorite
- 12:17low total. We got the correlative betting
- 12:18non division favorite and then also really good home Rd. splits
- 12:22Mariners 40 and 27 at home this year.
- 12:25Rays 31 and 32 on the road and Jeffrey Springs big splits home
- 12:30Rd. as well. 7.56 ERA on the road, 2.63 at the Trop.
- 12:35Well, guess what? He's on the road tonight.
- 12:37And then Gilbert, he's been better at home than on the road.
- 12:392.53 ERA at home, 3.81 on the road.
- 12:43But you Add all up. We had the Mariners with a win
- 12:46last night in the opener against the Rays.
- 12:47I'm going to ride the M's again. Good steam move, good
- 12:51correlative betting favorite, low total, non division
- 12:53favorite. Hopefully better pitching with
- 12:56Gilbert over Springs and Mariners hopefully playing well
- 12:59at home. Which are they?
- 12:59Which they played well at home all year.
- 13:01So again, add it all up. There's a Mariners play for me.
- 13:04Guys, I'm going to lay it with Seattle.
- 13:05I got Seattle -155 earlier today.
- 13:08Now you're looking at the Mariners upwards of -160 keep on
- 13:13cruising. Last bet of the night.
- 13:14This is the total, the total that screamed at me.
- 13:17Come play me. Well, it is a 8:40 PM Eastern
- 13:20Time, first pitch between the Miami Marlins and the Colorado
- 13:23Rockies. Probably not the two favorite
- 13:25teams you're looking to bet on tonight.
- 13:27Well, here's what jumped out to me.
- 13:29Miami is coming into this 147 and 84, obviously terrible
- 13:33record. Colorado, not much better, 49
- 13:35and 83. So, of course, two of the worst
- 13:37teams in baseball. Last night, you saw the Rockies
- 13:40win three to two against Miami in the opener.
- 13:43So what really jumped out to me isn't the money line in this
- 13:46game, because if you look at the current breakdown for this one,
- 13:49you're looking at Rockies laying around -150 at home.
- 13:53They're the public bet, but they really haven't moved off the
- 13:55opener of -150 But the total, the total is what jumped out to
- 13:59me. So first I'm going to give you
- 14:01the pitching matchup. And then when I tell you the
- 14:03pitching matchup, that might kind of give you an idea of
- 14:06which way I'm going over under. But we have going for the
- 14:09Marlins. Rodri Munoz Brady is 2 and seven
- 14:12with a 5.98 ERA. He'll be opposed by Cal
- 14:16Quantrell. For the Rockies, he is 8:00 and
- 14:189:00 with a 4.56 ERA. So what have you seen across the
- 14:21board here? Well, this total opened at 11.
- 14:24So of course, elevens. You really only see totals of 11
- 14:27or more at Coors Field because of the altitude, but it opened
- 14:30at a very high 11. And what I noticed is that all
- 14:33these elevens are really juiced up over 11 -, 115 -, 120.
- 14:38Some shops have even kind of flirted with an 11 1/2, but
- 14:41there's still a lot of a lot of elevens out there.
- 14:44But what's really notable to me isn't just the fact that the
- 14:46over 11 is so juiced up, it's the bet split.
- 14:50At DraftKings. Currently you are looking at
- 14:52only 34% of bets going over, but the over is taking into account
- 14:5783% of the money. So let's flip it the other way.
- 15:0166% of bets are going under. Now why are they going under?
- 15:06Probably because they see the public sees a high total 11,
- 15:09even some 11 1/2's out there. And last night was a three to
- 15:12two game. So if last night they only
- 15:14scored five, you better take the under 1111 1/2 tonight, right?
- 15:18No, no, no wise guys are going the other way. 66% of bets are
- 15:22going under, yet it's juiced up over.
- 15:25And then this is what I would call a contrarian over because
- 15:27you got to remember the public loves betting overs.
- 15:30It's just much more fun to watch a game or go out to the bar or
- 15:33hang out with your buddies and sweat the over root for runs.
- 15:36That's fun. However, despite public really
- 15:39always wanting to bet overs, they're going the other way.
- 15:42They're taking a rare under here.
- 15:43So this provides a another rare opportunity to go contrarian
- 15:46over. And again, only 34% of bets are
- 15:49going over, but 83% of dollars are going over.
- 15:53That is about as big of a bet discrepancy as you're going to
- 15:56find. Nearly 50% split low bets,
- 15:59higher dollars in favor of the over.
- 16:01Now let's dig into some other factors to like this over.
- 16:04This is mainly a data play for me.
- 16:06Again, only 34% of bets are going over, yet the over is
- 16:09getting juiced up. And think of it this way.
- 16:10If everyone's betting the under, you know, why are you getting
- 16:13like even money to play the under?
- 16:15You got to kind of take a step back and ask yourself why.
- 16:17Well, I'm saying it's because wise guys like this over here.
- 16:21But anyway, couple other reasons like the over.
- 16:23We mentioned the pitchers, but Roderie Munoz, he has an 8.22
- 16:27ERA and four August starts. He's gotten lit up pretty much
- 16:30every start. He's given up fourteen runs and
- 16:3215.1 innings pitched. Cal Quantrell, 5 point O2 ERA
- 16:37and three August starts. So he's been getting knocked
- 16:40around as well. But it's not just the bet split.
- 16:44You know, the juice movement, the the line movement here, but
- 16:47also pretty good weather factors at play.
- 16:49We all know Colorado because of the altitude, Mile High, the
- 16:52rarefied air. The ball travels further, which
- 16:55is why you see more runs, which is why it's always difficult to
- 16:58be a pitcher in Colorado. Better to be a hitter.
- 17:00But it should be a good night in Colorado.
- 17:01It's going to be clear, it's going to be about 85° and the
- 17:05wind is blowing out to left 10 mph.
- 17:09So not only do you have the rarefied air, we have wind
- 17:11blowing out. You have good heat, which means
- 17:13the the guys on the bump will be sweating here and the hitters
- 17:16are ready to go waiting in the in the dugout, which is cool.
- 17:19So hopefully we get the pitchers to work and get lit up a bit.
- 17:23But also both bullpens are bad. Colorado's bullpen 5.60 ERA that
- 17:28is dead last in baseball. Miami's bullpen 4.10 ERA, that's
- 17:3321st. So two of the worst bullpens, 2
- 17:37pitchers on the bump have been getting lit up recently.
- 17:39Really good hot weather blowing out with altitude.
- 17:43And then also our friends at Juice Reel.
- 17:45I opened up Juice Reel and I looked at this game and I said,
- 17:48hey, do we have a sharp mush indicator on the over?
- 17:51Yes, we do. Now, sharp mush, if I haven't
- 17:54done a good job of explaining it to you yet, what sharp mush does
- 17:57is it basically compiles everyone who has a Juice Reel
- 18:01account and when they sync up their sports books and place
- 18:04bets, you know, basically which side of the total or which side
- 18:07of the, you know, dog favorite are they on.
- 18:10Well, what it does is it keeps a record.
- 18:11It knows who's a good better in the app and who's a bad better
- 18:14based on your win percentage. And what it does is it isolates
- 18:17games where you have a big discrepancy between all the good
- 18:20betters on this side and the bad betters on that side.
- 18:23So you have the sharps on one side and the mushes, the
- 18:26squares, whatever you want to call them, the square.
- 18:28Pierre's on the other side. And this was, wouldn't you
- 18:31guess, a sharp mush overplay currently in the app, 63% of the
- 18:36best betters in the Juice Reel app are going over, yet 63% of
- 18:42the worst betters in the app are going under.
- 18:45So that would basically come out to a 25% sharp mush edge on the
- 18:50over. So when I saw that again, 34%
- 18:53bets, 83% money on the over at DraftKings combined with the
- 18:57sharp mush indicator from Juice Reel, I said, hey, this is one
- 19:00of those totals that I didn't I didn't go looking for it came
- 19:03looking for me. So I'm going to take a shot on
- 19:06this over guys, make sure you get the 1165 game seven to

- 19:45contrary. And if that appeals to you, if
- 19:47this pod, you enjoy it and you find it beneficial with good
- 19:50insight each day to hopefully help you win and provide a
- 19:53blueprint, the data-driven blueprint.

- 20:26contrarian betting how to read the market like data-driven wise
- 20:29guys read the market like the the traders on Wall Street, read
- 20:33read the stock market. If you want to learn more well,
- 20:36guess what I got something that's going to help you.
- 20:38It's a book yes, books are still available.
- 20:40We're not totally getting rid of books, they're still beneficial
- 20:44even though I feel like no one reads anymore, myself included.
- 20:47I don't read like I used to. But anyway, as an English major,
- 20:50I should read more. UVM class of 09.
- 20:53But if you want to learn more about data-driven betting, you
- 20:55want to support the team, make my day.
- 20:57Let me know you appreciate the pod.
- 20:58Go buy my book. Go to Amazon.com and type in the
- 21:02Everything Guide to Sports Betting.
- 21:04Pick up a copy for you or for a friend or family member or a
- 21:07buddy of yours or a colleague or Co worker or someone who maybe
- 21:11is interested in betting but has no freaking clue where to start.
- 21:14Or maybe they are a better and just you know, love betting but
- 21:17haven't really gotten the results that they're looking
- 21:19for. Well, maybe you can give them
- 21:20the all the Everything Guide to Sports Betting and show them how
- 21:23to be a data-driven better. How to read the market, how to

- 21:46with, of course, as always, whether I see you at the Borgata
- 21:49in Atlantic City, Twin River in Rhode Island, the Brooklyn, New
- 21:52Hampshire, Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun down in Connecticut at the
- 21:55Encore in Boston or Plain Ridge Park Casino or MGM Springfield
- 21:59in my neck of the woods. And Massachusetts are out in the
- 22:02desert, where the true grinders get down, where Billy Walter
- 22:04sends his number runners, where the lowest juice possible is
- 22:07found at the South Point, or sweat and sharp contrarian plays
- 22:10jumping in the stadium swimming pool.
- 22:12When you cash a big ticket at Circa, whoever it may be.
- 22:14Hey, you're gonna walk up to me, you know, show me a Tigers
- 22:17ticket. Operation Fade.
- 22:18White Sox paid off for us last night.
- 22:21And most of all, show me that Phillies ticket.
- 22:23You love it, Chefs kiss. You love seeing Bryce Harper
- 22:26walk it off for the Phills last night.
- 22:27And I know my buddy James Santor like that too, who is a big
- 22:31Phills fan. Of course if if you haven't done

- 23:49Of course, as we wrap every pod up with a little words of
- 23:53encouragement, words of wisdom that we've cultivated over time,
- 23:57stay sharp, stay contrarian, bet against the public, place
- 24:00yourself on the side of the house.
- 24:01Always be with the smart money, never against it.
- 24:04Will smart money win every time? Of course not.
- 24:07No such thing as a locker guarantee.
- 24:09Betting is difficult. Bad beats human error.
- 24:12Again, crazy things can happen, but here's the thing, anything
- 24:15can happen in a one off. But if you consistently long
- 24:18term bet with your head and not your heart against the public,
- 24:21with the house, with the pros flat bet, avoid parlays, get
- 24:24that CLV. If you can do that long term, I
- 24:28almost can guarantee you you're going to be a successful sports
- 24:30better. So enjoy the sweats, everyone.
