- 0:18Speaker 1: That is right the Giblets.
- 0:20Speaker 2: Baby, Hey, hey at the bounds ESPN. One oh five
- 0:25Speaker 2: nine to zone. Our next interview is brought to you
- 0:28Speaker 2: by Finch and Kelly, great clothing store in Oxford, right
- 0:33Speaker 2: across from South Depot Taco. Our buddy Patrick Kelly's done
- 0:37Speaker 2: a great job. He's got all the old mis gear, red, blue, Navy,
- 0:42Speaker 2: you name it, he's got it. He's also got the
- 0:45Speaker 2: Whiskey sixty one, leather goods and barwear. Stop by their
- 0:50Speaker 2: orientation and everything else that's going on this summer. Finch
- 0:53Speaker 2: and Kelly on the square at Oxford, we welcome in
- 0:57Speaker 2: our friend Brad Henderson, great player at Old Miss now
- 1:00Speaker 2: Ole Miss baseball color analyst, and the Ole Miss Rebels
- 1:03Speaker 2: are playing the Auburn Tigers in Auburn in the super Regional.
- 1:08Speaker 2: They went to Lincoln, Nebraska and won that regional in
- 1:12Speaker 2: three games, by the way, two of them in extra innings,
- 1:15Speaker 2: which let's start with that. Brad Henderson, good morning, how
- 1:18Speaker 2: you doing.
- 1:19Speaker 1: I'm good, Bo, appreciate you having me on.
- 1:22Speaker 2: Well, thanks for jumping on, dude. Brad joins us on
- 1:24Speaker 2: one oh five nine to the zone. ESPN. Uh Brad,
- 1:28Speaker 2: how about those two extra inning games in Lincoln, Nebraska,
- 1:31Speaker 2: where Ole Miss found a way to win and to
- 1:34Speaker 2: stay in the winner's bracket and also avoided an if
- 1:38Speaker 2: necessary game two.
- 1:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it was. It was good to see kind of
- 1:42Speaker 1: all come together. You know. It was a really good
- 1:45Speaker 1: both the extra inning games. Obviously we're against Arizona State
- 1:48Speaker 1: who been a three seed. Man, they were an awfully
- 1:52Speaker 1: good three seed and can really swing the bats. But
- 1:55Speaker 1: the guys kind of held it together, got the big
- 1:58Speaker 1: hits late when we needed it, and that bullpen was
- 2:01Speaker 1: really really good this weekend.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Hooks on Friday, I can't remember, I'm sure you know
- 2:09Speaker 2: the final pitch count it was like sixty something. I mean,
- 2:12Speaker 2: he was unbelievable when Mike brought him in and then
- 2:17Speaker 2: he he really sealed the deal because he was able
- 2:20Speaker 2: to chew up a bunch of innings and keep Arizona
- 2:25Speaker 2: State off the scoreboard. Talk about his performance rat.
- 2:28Speaker 1: Yeah, he's been tremendous far us all season long. And
- 2:32Speaker 1: you know, I think when you get to the postseason
- 2:34Speaker 1: and these must win type games, uh, you gotta have
- 2:38Speaker 1: some some special players do some special things. So I
- 2:42Speaker 1: mean you got some extension out of him. Career high
- 2:45Speaker 1: and pitches and then you do the same thing, you know,
- 2:49Speaker 1: behind him with Calhoun and uh, you know, to make
- 2:52Speaker 1: a run. Those guys have got to be really good,
- 2:56Speaker 1: and obviously they were, and it was a fourteen inning marathon,
- 3:00Speaker 1: but uh, yeah, they really held an elite offense in check. Uh.
- 3:06Speaker 1: And then obviously we get the big hit to win
- 3:09Speaker 1: it there in the fourteen.
- 3:10Speaker 2: And Hunter didn't have his best stuff, but he grinded
- 3:13Speaker 2: through and chewed up some innings too. Is that what
- 3:15Speaker 2: you saw, rad, Yeah, he did.
- 3:18Speaker 1: And the same with Kate Townsend in the in the finale. Uh,
- 3:22Speaker 1: you know, not not at their best, but good enough
- 3:26Speaker 1: to kind of whole serve. And you know, obviously again uh,
- 3:30Speaker 1: the offense was he gave you enough to pull it out.
- 3:35Speaker 1: But yeah, you would have liked to have seen Hunter been
- 3:37Speaker 1: a little bit sharper. Uh, but the pitch count got
- 3:40Speaker 1: up early, you know, and he really had to grind
- 3:44Speaker 1: it out, which he did.
- 3:45Speaker 2: Uh.
- 3:46Speaker 1: And we've seen him do it really over his whole career.
- 3:48Speaker 1: But hopefully yeah, uh, maybe he can be a little
- 3:51Speaker 1: bit better this weekend.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Yeah, he's a great player. Brad Henderson Ole Miss Baseball
- 3:56Speaker 2: color analyst on the out of Bound show ESPN one
- 3:59Speaker 2: O five to nine of the Zone brought to you
- 4:01Speaker 2: by Benching Kelly in Oxford. All right, show, you go
- 4:08Speaker 2: through on the road in the regional and like you said,
- 4:12Speaker 2: you did what you needed to do to win and
- 4:15Speaker 2: and punch your ticket to me the the old missstaff.
- 4:21Speaker 2: It looks pretty damn good both starters and bullpen. I
- 4:27Speaker 2: think they need to get another bat heated up? Am
- 4:30Speaker 2: I going down the right road here?
- 4:32Speaker 1: Right? Yeah? I mean you'd like to see a little
- 4:36Speaker 1: bit more consistency, you know, I think I think Pano
- 4:41Speaker 1: had one or two hits on the weekend. Folly had
- 4:43Speaker 1: one or two hits on the weekend. It just happened
- 4:46Speaker 1: to be. They were huge hits when they got them.
- 4:49Speaker 1: And that's when you get to the postseason. Uh, that's
- 4:53Speaker 1: ultimately the important thing is is the timely hitting piece
- 4:56Speaker 1: of it. But yeah, you would like to see h
- 5:00Speaker 1: Judd maybe have a little bit better super than he
- 5:03Speaker 1: did regional. But again, you know, big home run in
- 5:05Speaker 1: Game one to kind of get the offense going. I
- 5:08Speaker 1: thought the timely hitting was terrific. But yeah, you're right,
- 5:11Speaker 1: you would like to string a few more together. But
- 5:15Speaker 1: you know, as well, as I do in the postseason,
- 5:18Speaker 1: everybody's got at least one, dude, and and most most
- 5:21Speaker 1: of the times. And we'll sit this weekend and at Auburn,
- 5:24Speaker 1: it's an elite pitching staff, so you know, pitching, defense,
- 5:28Speaker 1: timely hitting, that's that's what it's ultimately gonna take.
- 5:30Speaker 2: I know you were on the road, but how impressed
- 5:32Speaker 2: were you that Auburn lost and then was able to
- 5:35Speaker 2: win four in a row?
- 5:36Speaker 1: Bright, Yeah, it's hard to do. We you know, you
- 5:39Speaker 1: saw all this struggle last year with Murray State when
- 5:42Speaker 1: they lost that first game and we were able to
- 5:43Speaker 1: come all the way back through the winner's bracket and
- 5:46Speaker 1: ultimately just ran out of gas. And it just shows
- 5:50Speaker 1: you how deep Auburn truly is that they were able
- 5:53Speaker 1: to come back through there their regional and ultimately win
- 5:57Speaker 1: it in game five. And that's awfully hard to do.
- 6:00Speaker 1: But uh, you know as well as I do. Butch
- 6:02Speaker 1: Thompson's one of the best in the country. Uh, and
- 6:04Speaker 1: he had those ready guys ready to go there for
- 6:06Speaker 1: those last two.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Yeah, they gutted it out and uh so it was
- 6:09Speaker 2: impressive what Old Miss and Auburn did over the weekend.
- 6:12Speaker 2: Different path, but it doesn't matter how you get there.
- 6:15Speaker 2: They'll play Friday night down in Auburn. And I think
- 6:19Speaker 2: it's an eight o'clock first pitch, seven o'clock here some
- 6:22Speaker 2: somewhere in there. When do y'all leave to go down there? Bratt?
- 6:26Speaker 1: Yeah, the team's actually gonna leave today.
- 6:28Speaker 2: Uh.
- 6:29Speaker 1: They're gonna practice, work out practice here in Oxford, Uh,
- 6:32Speaker 1: and head out this afternoon. I'm gonna end up going tomorrow,
- 6:36Speaker 1: uh because I've got a real job as well. I
- 6:40Speaker 1: missed a couple of days last week, and so I'm
- 6:44Speaker 1: gonna let them going down today and I'm gonna work
- 6:46Speaker 1: today in tomorrow and head head down tomorrow afternoon.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Okay, Hey, tell me about Dom Decker, who was with
- 6:53Speaker 2: Murray State last year. Ole miss gets him out of
- 6:56Speaker 2: the portal and and what did it? But he's also
- 7:02Speaker 2: a damn good baseball player, you know, walk me through
- 7:05Speaker 2: who and what he is.
- 7:07Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just a grinder. You know, he's a dirt bag.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And you know, I thought when I interviewed him after
- 7:14Speaker 1: the game, after he walked that final game off with
- 7:17Speaker 1: that sackply you know, he told me he said, you know,
- 7:20Speaker 1: I'd struck out three times, But but I felt really
- 7:24Speaker 1: good at the plate in that last bat. I believe
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'm a good baseball player, and I just kind of
- 7:30Speaker 1: took that to the play with me and that kind
- 7:32Speaker 1: of encapsulates you know what he's about. He just dirty
- 7:37Speaker 1: every game. He just grinds out pitch by pitch, He
- 7:39Speaker 1: takes pitches, finds a way to get on and he's
- 7:42Speaker 1: been that far us all year. Of course, we saw
- 7:44Speaker 1: that from him last year. We actually played them four times,
- 7:47Speaker 1: once in the regular season and then three there in
- 7:49Speaker 1: the postseason. So they felt pretty good that they knew
- 7:54Speaker 1: what they were getting in Dom Decker, and he's been
- 7:56Speaker 1: exactly what they had hoped for.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Are you I don't think you are. But are Are
- 8:01Speaker 2: you surprised at all that this team made the Super Regions? Uh?
- 8:05Speaker 1: No, I'm really not. You know, I think the thirty
- 8:09Speaker 1: thirty game league, UH kind of prepares you for the postseason.
- 8:14Speaker 1: There's you know, there's always the chance that you don't
- 8:17Speaker 1: play at your best when you need to play at
- 8:19Speaker 1: your best. And uh, but but that didn't happen. Uh.
- 8:22Speaker 1: We played really good baseball. We were sound, We made
- 8:26Speaker 1: one ERA in the thirty one innings. Wow, So you know,
- 8:31Speaker 1: the guys just kind of came together. This team is resilient. Uh,
- 8:35Speaker 1: And to be honest, we I feel like we played
- 8:37Speaker 1: better on the road. There's just something about this team
- 8:39Speaker 1: that they kind of take on the US versus the
- 8:42Speaker 1: world mentality when they go on the road. And you
- 8:44Speaker 1: could see that this weekend, and you know, you hope
- 8:48Speaker 1: that trans translates to this upcoming weekend, so we'll see.
- 8:52Speaker 1: It should be an awfully good regional. Uh, two really
- 8:54Speaker 1: good teams getting after No.
- 8:56Speaker 2: It's it is. It's too it's two damn good teams,
- 8:59Speaker 2: All Miss Auburn. They start their series on Friday. It
- 9:04Speaker 2: could go to Sunday. It may be over Saturday if
- 9:08Speaker 2: Old Miss takes two or Auburn takes two. Mike be Anko,
- 9:11Speaker 2: I mean what I've said this, Mike is still going
- 9:14Speaker 2: to be the head coach long after you and I
- 9:16Speaker 2: are gone. I mean, it's just unbelievable. You know so
- 9:21Speaker 2: many you know this being a former you are a
- 9:23Speaker 2: great player at Old Miss. That's a program place that
- 9:26Speaker 2: you love. Now you get to call the games for
- 9:29Speaker 2: your alma mater. You know so many players that have
- 9:33Speaker 2: been through the program. Mike's been there for twenty six
- 9:36Speaker 2: years or something, But there have been so many times
- 9:39Speaker 2: where people counted him out, and yet he lives in
- 9:44Speaker 2: the postseason and the majority of the time he advances
- 9:47Speaker 2: in the postseason. Brat.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah, he's just you know, it's it's always been a
- 9:53Speaker 1: culture thing, and when guys get here, they know what
- 9:56Speaker 1: to expect, they know what the expectations are, and he's
- 10:01Speaker 1: just been just steady. It is probably the right word.
- 10:04Speaker 1: I think out of the twenty six years he's made
- 10:07Speaker 1: the postseason, twenty two, the consistency's always been there. And
- 10:11Speaker 1: I actually told David Kellum before this reasonal started, I said,
- 10:16Speaker 1: you know, the beauty of it was because we started
- 10:17Speaker 1: game one thirty minutes late due to a weather delay.
- 10:20Speaker 1: And I said, man, we've got a coach that's he's
- 10:24Speaker 1: been through all that, you know, Willie Bloomquist at ASU.
- 10:28Speaker 1: You know, I think he's in year four or five. Obviously,
- 10:30Speaker 1: will Vault and Nebraska hadn't been there long either. Both
- 10:34Speaker 1: those guys are my age, and so they haven't been
- 10:37Speaker 1: through the kind of the trials and tribulations of what
- 10:40Speaker 1: the postseason can bring. And you know, the curve balls
- 10:43Speaker 1: like the weather delays and the extra innings and coach
- 10:46Speaker 1: v has been there, done that, So I felt like
- 10:48Speaker 1: we were in a pretty good position as far as
- 10:50Speaker 1: strategy goes on how to handle different situations. And I
- 10:54Speaker 1: think he saw that play out.
- 10:55Speaker 2: Yeah, Brad Henderson, Ole Miss Baseball Color and list on
- 11:00Speaker 2: the out of Bound show driven by your next GMC
- 11:03Speaker 2: Sierra Truck at Bowler GMC Pearl Brandon. All Right, so
- 11:08Speaker 2: we've hit a couple of these guys, Brad. But everybody
- 11:12Speaker 2: knows the stars on the team. But who's the player
- 11:16Speaker 2: that old Miss fans aren't talking about enough right now?
- 11:20Speaker 2: Who's the guy that could swing this super regional down
- 11:24Speaker 2: in Auburn?
- 11:26Speaker 1: Who? Man? Uh? Well, I would say the emergence lately
- 11:31Speaker 1: of Hayden Puerto Rico, which obviously is a household name
- 11:34Speaker 1: at this point, and Owen Paino and Owen you know
- 11:40Speaker 1: he didn't even start at shortstop halfway through the season
- 11:44Speaker 1: and highly taed kid that came in last year and
- 11:46Speaker 1: the lights were too bright. I think Owen will tell
- 11:49Speaker 1: you that, and I think that was pretty obvious in
- 11:51Speaker 1: the opportunities he had. But the light has kind of
- 11:56Speaker 1: come on, the switch has flipped now, and what he's
- 12:00Speaker 1: given you defensively at shortstop is kind of a staple
- 12:06Speaker 1: now defensively, and he's getting you a big hit after
- 12:09Speaker 1: big hit, and you're starting to see him come into
- 12:13Speaker 1: what they knew potentially he could be. And I think
- 12:16Speaker 1: getting him to play at the level he's playing at
- 12:19Speaker 1: both offensively and defensively has really kind of taken this
- 12:23Speaker 1: team to another level. And then in the bullpen, what
- 12:30Speaker 1: JP Robertson's done so far in the postseason, because you
- 12:36Speaker 1: didn't really know after Hooks and Calhoun, who could get
- 12:40Speaker 1: you off the field and make big time pitches, and
- 12:43Speaker 1: obviously we saw JP do that this weekend.
- 12:45Speaker 2: Yeah, I really like your bullpen. Like Mississippi State, you
- 12:51Speaker 2: don't know what you're gonna get. Some of these other teams.
- 12:54Speaker 2: I like their front loaded batting lineup better. But yeah,
- 13:00Speaker 2: I mean that that bullpen is one of the best
- 13:02Speaker 2: in college baseball right.
- 13:05Speaker 1: It is at the moment. You know, they threw seventeen
- 13:08Speaker 1: innings this weekend and gave up four runs, and they
- 13:11Speaker 1: just happened to be on two two run homers. And
- 13:15Speaker 1: you know, when when you go seventeen innings and only
- 13:17Speaker 1: give up four runs, you're getting a lot of outs. Yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 1: a lot of crucial moments, you know, So they showed
- 13:24Speaker 1: up and you got to you gotta have that in
- 13:26Speaker 1: the postseason. Everybody's got good starters at this point, but
- 13:30Speaker 1: you got to have some reliable guys on the back
- 13:32Speaker 1: end to either keep it close or preserve that lead.
- 13:36Speaker 1: And you know, so far those guys have been able
- 13:38Speaker 1: to do that.
- 13:39Speaker 2: What time did y'all get home Sunday? Monday morning?
- 13:44Speaker 1: Oh, we actually spent the night Sunday and we flew
- 13:47Speaker 1: out around ten o'clock. So we got back to two
- 13:51Speaker 1: low around eleven thirty eleven forty five. So the guys
- 13:53Speaker 1: were able to get a good night's rest, get back
- 13:56Speaker 1: and hopefully get their feet back under them.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Okay, who fills more pressure this weekend? Ole miss coming
- 14:02Speaker 2: off the magical run through their regional or in Lincoln
- 14:06Speaker 2: or Auburn hosting with Omaha expectations in front of their
- 14:10Speaker 2: home crowd.
- 14:12Speaker 1: Uh, you know, I would say Auburn, you know, and
- 14:16Speaker 1: not because I think the teams are equal, but I
- 14:21Speaker 1: think you saw the pressure of playing at home this weekend.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I think you saw seven host sites lost, you know,
- 14:31Speaker 1: only nine were able to to to win it. And
- 14:34Speaker 1: to me, that's an astounding number that that seven did
- 14:38Speaker 1: not get out of their region on and you know,
- 14:40Speaker 1: again we saw it last year. I think there's a
- 14:43Speaker 1: little bit added pressure. Uh. If you don't perform, you
- 14:49Speaker 1: can kind of hear some of the groaning or the
- 14:50Speaker 1: moaning or or the anxiousness of uh oh. You know,
- 14:55Speaker 1: now when things are good, that home crowd is gonna
- 14:58Speaker 1: get behind you, gonna get loud. But there is that
- 15:01Speaker 1: added pressure pressure that that Auburn will have you know,
- 15:05Speaker 1: of six, seven, eight, nine, hi or many thousand people
- 15:07Speaker 1: they're gonna have there to perform in front of them.
- 15:10Speaker 1: And sometimes you try and do a little bit too much,
- 15:13Speaker 1: and when you do that, bad things can happen. So
- 15:16Speaker 1: I think just simply from the added pressure of playing
- 15:20Speaker 1: in front of your fans, uh, it can be a
- 15:22Speaker 1: problem sometimes. So so we'll see how they handle that.
- 15:26Speaker 1: But it's gonna be awfully tough there. But they've got
- 15:29Speaker 1: a really good team, super balanced, so we'll see. I'm
- 15:34Speaker 1: excited to get down there.
- 15:35Speaker 2: Yeah, you're fired up. You should be all right. Well, look,
- 15:39Speaker 2: I know you got to get some work done before
- 15:41Speaker 2: you head down to the planes. Gonna be a hell
- 15:43Speaker 2: of a weekend. Enjoy it. We appreciate you jumping on
- 15:47Speaker 2: and we'll talk soon.
- 15:48Speaker 1: Okay, yep, sounds good. Both appreciate it.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Thanks. Brad Henderson, fantastic player at Old Miss Ole Miss
- 15:55Speaker 2: baseball color analyst. He mentioned Hooks and Calhoun and JP
- 16:00Speaker 2: robertson Ole Miss. We had some guys out of the
- 16:03Speaker 2: bullpen seventeen innings, only gave up four runs. He likes
- 16:07Speaker 2: to see Federico get heated up hot and Dom Decker
- 16:13Speaker 2: with the clutch, clutch at bat on the sackfly walk off.
- 16:16Speaker 2: And Ole Miss wins two games in extra innings, the
- 16:20Speaker 2: first and the third against as he said, a scrappy
- 16:23Speaker 2: Arizona State team who wouldn't go away. I mean that
- 16:27Speaker 2: was just nip and tuck. Fourteen innings on Friday night
- 16:31Speaker 2: and extra innings on Saturday, and Ole Miss prevails and
- 16:35Speaker 2: they advanced to the Auburn Super Regional. So you got
- 16:38Speaker 2: Mike Bianco against Butch Thompson. They're more than familiar with
- 16:41Speaker 2: each other. Butch was at Mississippi State for years under
- 16:44Speaker 2: Cohen as the pitching coach, has been at Auburn for
- 16:47Speaker 2: a decade time Flies. I feel like Butch was just
- 16:50Speaker 2: in Startbell wearing m overs. He's done a good job
- 16:54Speaker 2: down at Auburn couple of College World Series appearance. As
- 16:57Speaker 2: you remember, Mississippi State and Auburn played out in the
- 16:59Speaker 2: Seas several years ago. So here we go with UH
- 17:05Speaker 2: with the Auburn Tigers and Wardamn Eagle taking on the
- 17:10Speaker 2: old miss Rebels, and Mike Banko with another super regional.
- 17:14Speaker 2: Of course, Mike's been there the whole time for the
- 17:16Speaker 2: super Regional format that started in nineteen ninety nine. Mike
- 17:19Speaker 2: ends up at Ole Miss a couple years later, and
- 17:22Speaker 2: then and then bam so Ole Miss at Auburn Friday night. Boom,
- 17:27Speaker 2: we'll go. We'll go with that. We are the Out
- 17:29Speaker 2: of Bounds Show. We're driven by your next GMC Sierra Truck, GMC,
- 17:35Speaker 2: U Con Fowler, f O w l e R Fowler,
- 17:39Speaker 2: GMC Fowler, GMC dot com. They're right there in Pearl Brandon.
- 17:45Speaker 2: Check out their selection. F O w l e R
- 17:48Speaker 2: f O w l e R Fowler, GMC dot com,
- 17:52Speaker 2: bo bounce straight funk with you hanging out well, I
- 17:56Speaker 2: think bar two is going to join us either at
- 17:59Speaker 2: nine or nine fifteen, and UH, that would be Diamond Dave,
- 18:05Speaker 2: mister Matrix analytical. He called me twice in the last
- 18:10Speaker 2: couple weeks. Tell me, you know he's got all these
- 18:11Speaker 2: clients college NFL. He just he doesn't even say hey,
- 18:15Speaker 2: he just starts talking. I mean, you know something about
- 18:20Speaker 2: numbers and metrics and and I'm just it's crazy. So
- 18:24Speaker 2: we'll get bar two on in the third hour, and uh,
- 18:28Speaker 2: I think it'll be good.
- 18:29Speaker 1: That is right. The Giblets baby, that's right. That is right,
- 18:32Speaker 1: the Giblets baby.
- 18:33Speaker 2: Oh Man, Chuck Mullins switching gears. Cleveland Brown super fan Jackson,
- 18:39Speaker 2: Mississippi attorney, said that he agrees with trading Miles Garrett.
- 18:44Speaker 2: I think he's gonna join us on the That maybe
- 18:46Speaker 2: a hot take for some of you. Now he keeps
- 18:49Speaker 2: up with it. Look, it's a big name, and whenever
- 18:53Speaker 2: there's a big name, you know, it's automatically oh goodness. Uh.
- 18:58Speaker 2: But he said, I approved trading him last year and
- 19:03Speaker 2: especially this year. Great defensive player equaled ten wins in
- 19:08Speaker 2: the last two years. I did think we were going
- 19:11Speaker 2: to get three first rounders, but you can't argue with
- 19:14Speaker 2: the draft haul they got plus a Pro Bowl upcoming
- 19:17Speaker 2: defensive end. He's no Garrett, but nobody is. And then
- 19:22Speaker 2: he says, it's all about the quarterback. And so I said,
- 19:25Speaker 2: who's your starter? And he said exactly, And I messed
- 19:28Speaker 2: with him. I said Achille Smith and just you know,
- 19:33Speaker 2: I thought that was funny. He probably didn't. And then
- 19:35Speaker 2: he said Tim Couch. So although Tim Couch would have
- 19:39Speaker 2: been good with like a grown up front office like
- 19:45Speaker 2: today if you want to, I mean, that was twenty
- 19:47Speaker 2: eight years ago when he came out of Kentucky. But
- 19:50Speaker 2: Tim Couch, if you gave him like the La Rams,
- 19:54Speaker 2: Seattle Seahawks, John Snyder of course, the Chiefs with Beach
- 19:59Speaker 2: and ree that type deal. Uh, Howie Roseman and so on.
- 20:04Speaker 2: Sarah Jannie couldn't pull his name yesterday with the Eagles.
- 20:10Speaker 2: You know, the Packers do a good job. There's there's
- 20:12Speaker 2: other teams. But what Sean and Denver doing? Run well,
- 20:19Speaker 2: run right, you know. Uh, if you gave Tim Couch
- 20:24Speaker 2: good people around him, like so a lot of these
- 20:27Speaker 2: quarterbacks walk into and a lot of them don't. There's
- 20:32Speaker 2: no telling. But he walked into an absolute disaster in
- 20:36Speaker 2: the late nineties. And and you know, just got beat
- 20:39Speaker 2: to Helen back.
- 20:39Speaker 3: So when was the last time they were weren't known
- 20:43Speaker 3: as a complete disaster.
- 20:44Speaker 2: It's been my whole life, right, Uh. I talked about
- 20:48Speaker 2: that window in in the mid to late eighties eighties
- 20:51Speaker 2: they were super competitive, Yeah, Kozar and that whole deal, gotcha. Yeah?
- 20:58Speaker 2: And that that was Schottenheimer, Uh yeah, before before Schottenheimer
- 21:03Speaker 2: moved to the Chiefs and then ended up with the
- 21:06Speaker 2: Chargers and you know, somehow they fired him going fourteen
- 21:10Speaker 2: and two, and uh, I'm sure Philip Rivers was like,
- 21:15Speaker 2: what in the hell is going on? I think that
- 21:18Speaker 2: was Philip Rivers, wasn't it him? And l Yeah, yeah,
- 21:23Speaker 2: Philip Rivers. Okay, I got that right, Yeah, because Breese
- 21:31Speaker 2: was right.
- 21:31Speaker 3: Before that same age, I believe, right there, within a
- 21:35Speaker 3: year or two of each other.
- 21:36Speaker 2: All right, Yeah, Breeze was a third round pick out
- 21:40Speaker 2: of Purdue, I think. So he played for Tiller, who
- 21:46Speaker 2: was doing some really cool things back then that that
- 21:49Speaker 2: most people were not doing in the late nineties early
- 21:52Speaker 2: two thousands. And I mean they shouldn't have won obviously Purdue.
- 21:56Speaker 2: Good lord, I mean, that's a disaster football. But they
- 22:01Speaker 2: can play some Matt Pater and Purdue and hoops, let's
- 22:05Speaker 2: freaking go. They can't win it. But they're but but
- 22:11Speaker 2: they're good. There. You feel like there are always a
- 22:13Speaker 2: one seed or two seats or a lot of times.
- 22:15Speaker 3: Chargers drafted Drew Breese, the second quarterback taking in the
- 22:21Speaker 3: one draft number one, being the number one pick Mike Vick,
- 22:26Speaker 3: but they took him in the first round or the
- 22:27Speaker 3: first pick of the second round, number thirty two.
- 22:31Speaker 2: Okay, So that was the year Vic came out of
- 22:35Speaker 2: Virginia Tech and was the first round pick for the Falcons. Right.
- 22:38Speaker 3: San Diego originally had that first pick, ended up trading
- 22:41Speaker 3: it to Atlanta, which then Atlanta took Vic.
- 22:46Speaker 2: Wow, I didn't remember that.
- 22:50Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, Okay, they draft, they traded it to Atlanta,
- 22:54Speaker 3: who drafted Vic in return for the fifth pick of
- 22:57Speaker 3: the first round.
- 22:58Speaker 2: So they traded down a few spots which they ended
- 23:00Speaker 2: up grabbing Ladanium, Ladanian, Tomlinsonata TCU. Okay, all right, one
- 23:09Speaker 2: draft loaded? Wow Okay. I loved him as a player.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I absolutely loved Ladanian, Tomas. He's one of my favorites.
- 23:20Speaker 2: See he also I was still a Chargers maybe I
- 23:23Speaker 2: still am now with Harball and Herbert, I kind of
- 23:26Speaker 2: like him, but as you know, I've grew up with
- 23:29Speaker 2: Dan Fouts and Coriel. So I love the Chargers and
- 23:33Speaker 2: they got great. The lightning Bolt is just cool. I
- 23:36Speaker 2: gotta get a pull over. And when you were playing
- 23:39Speaker 2: Madden back in the day now in LA I mean,
- 23:43Speaker 2: I don't hate it San Diego but always but there's
- 23:47Speaker 2: San Diego. It's Tony Gwynn and Coriel and Dan Fouts.
- 23:52Speaker 2: For me, I don't know why, I just I got
- 23:55Speaker 2: into that. Tony Gwynn, Steve Garby, Gary Tumpulton Air, Coriel,
- 24:02Speaker 2: Dan Fouts, Winslow, Chuck Munchy Munsey and uh was it
- 24:08Speaker 2: Jefferson too? Yeah, that was fun days for San Diego.
- 24:14Speaker 2: Now they're the La Rams Am I okay with that?
- 24:16Speaker 2: I have to think about that during the break. I mean, yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 2: that's right. Sorry, La Chargers, My bad, Damn Studio
