- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from kf I
- 0:04Speaker 1: am six forty.
- 0:10Speaker 2: And they also dress weird too, just to let you know.
- 0:13Speaker 2: And they have you know, the pay us, the ringlets.
- 0:15Speaker 2: And everybody has a beard, I mean everybody, the women,
- 0:18Speaker 2: the kids, you know, the five year olds walking around
- 0:21Speaker 2: with beards, and you just.
- 0:22Speaker 3: You can see them, you know, quite the sight. It
- 0:27Speaker 3: really is. Women, the children, everybody.
- 0:30Speaker 1: All right, and now handle on the news, ladies and gentlemen.
- 0:35Speaker 3: Here's Bill Handle. Good morning everybody.
- 0:42Speaker 2: It is a Friday morning, December five, and today we
- 0:46Speaker 2: celebrate Friday morning, December five.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And let me say a quick hello to one and all.
- 0:53Speaker 3: Uh Neil, good morning.
- 0:55Speaker 4: Good morning.
- 0:56Speaker 3: Will you there you go?
- 0:57Speaker 2: I would, and thank you very much. Check Hono, there
- 0:59Speaker 2: you are. Good morning, smooy, Yes.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Good morning. There's a Will Coleschreiber, good morning, Good morning.
- 1:08Speaker 2: Bill, good morning, and Amy and hello and and good morning.
- 1:15Speaker 3: Okay, there we go. The obligatory good mornings are over.
- 1:18Speaker 2: Oh before we jump into the show, I want to
- 1:22Speaker 2: give you guys an update of what's going on.
- 1:25Speaker 3: If you remember, you remember, I.
- 1:28Speaker 2: Think Michelle sent out the email to all of us
- 1:33Speaker 2: that the auction items came in mainly as expected, I mean,
- 1:39Speaker 2: great numbers. The Ballgame with Gary and Shannon I think
- 1:44Speaker 2: came in at four thousand dollars. Dean and T and
- 1:47Speaker 2: his wife The Ballgame came in at thirty one hundred.
- 1:50Speaker 2: John Colebilt an hour of an hour co hosting his
- 1:56Speaker 2: show came in at I think was it thirty seven
- 2:00Speaker 2: hundred dollars or forty that it was forty seven hundred dollars.
- 2:05Speaker 2: Pretty impressive, and that's basically in line with what they do.
- 2:09Speaker 4: And these are wonderful numbers too. What I just feel
- 2:13Speaker 4: like there's a light that you're about to shine on yourself.
- 2:16Speaker 2: Oh God, yes, okay, Oh and it's you too, okay.
- 2:20Speaker 3: Oh no, no, no, now, this one.
- 2:22Speaker 2: As much as I like to talk about myself and
- 2:24Speaker 2: think how impressed I am with myself, this is a
- 2:28Speaker 2: good one.
- 2:29Speaker 3: All right.
- 2:30Speaker 2: So our bid came in at eleven thousand dollars, which
- 2:33Speaker 2: is pretty good. But it was, to be fair, it's
- 2:35Speaker 2: in a new event that has never happened before. It
- 2:38Speaker 2: was Neil, and it was me involved, and I was involved,
- 2:43Speaker 2: and it was a barbecue at my house, so it
- 2:45Speaker 2: was very different. So, you know, eleven thousand dollars does
- 2:48Speaker 2: not seem insane to me, I mean, it seemed reasonable.
- 2:52Speaker 2: Then a few minutes after the the polls closed, after
- 2:57Speaker 2: the auction closed, Michelle got a phone call from someone.
- 3:00Speaker 2: I think I shared this yesterday, but the story keeps
- 3:02Speaker 2: on going that if that person could be invited to
- 3:07Speaker 2: join our barbecue, a donation of twenty thousand dollars would
- 3:11Speaker 2: come in.
- 3:12Speaker 3: So now that.
- 3:13Speaker 2: Makes it eleven thousand and twenty thousand, thirty one thousand dollars.
- 3:17Speaker 2: Then Michelle reached out to the second bidder, number two,
- 3:23Speaker 2: who had bid ten thousand and change, pretty close to
- 3:27Speaker 2: the eleven thousand, and said, would you be interestedd Well,
- 3:31Speaker 2: that person matched the first bidder at eleven thousand dollars.
- 3:36Speaker 2: So we raised for our auction item forty two thousand dollars, which, frankly,
- 3:45Speaker 2: I got to tell you, is pretty impressive. Even I'm
- 3:47Speaker 2: impressed with that, and I'm very impressed with very in reality,
- 3:51Speaker 2: not very impressed with us, especially you guys.
- 3:54Speaker 3: But you know me neither.
- 3:55Speaker 2: So anyway, forty two thousand dollars, and of course I
- 3:59Speaker 2: was whipsaw into inviting the Morning Crew to join us
- 4:04Speaker 2: whenever we are going to do this So it'll be
- 4:06Speaker 2: some Saturday, probably March, in which Neil will broadcast with
- 4:10Speaker 2: me a Fork Report show at my house and we're
- 4:16Speaker 2: gonna have chefs and pitmasters there, and Anaheim White House
- 4:20Speaker 2: is catering this thing.
- 4:21Speaker 3: It's gonna be really cool.
- 4:23Speaker 2: And there'll be six guesting on dates and stuff, and
- 4:26Speaker 2: yeah we are, and there'll be six guests, six guests
- 4:28Speaker 2: of honor, with the number one guest of honor the
- 4:31Speaker 2: winner of or the highest bidder during the auction.
- 4:34Speaker 3: But it's gonna be.
- 4:35Speaker 4: You're gonna be just slightly less guest of honoring too.
- 4:39Speaker 3: Yes, yes, they'll be.
- 4:40Speaker 2: There'll be a slight guest of honorish sort of view
- 4:45Speaker 2: of this.
- 4:46Speaker 4: I'll be running a slave handle with a stopwatch, so
- 4:50Speaker 4: like when he greets someone or shakes their hands, I
- 4:53Speaker 4: will always have him stop just a little bit under
- 4:56Speaker 4: what he did to the person who got the first bit.
- 5:00Speaker 3: That's correct.
- 5:00Speaker 2: Anyway, I'm very proud of us. I'm very proud of us,
- 5:04Speaker 2: and very thankful to the people that bit as much
- 5:07Speaker 2: as they did.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Oh you're not.
- 5:08Speaker 4: You're whipping it out to measure it against everybody else.
- 5:11Speaker 2: And uh, it doesn't mean I'm wastec It doesn't mean
- 5:13Speaker 2: I'm not proud of us. Of course I'm whipping it out.
- 5:16Speaker 2: Of course I am.
- 5:17Speaker 4: I you know, I think of the forty two thousand
- 5:20Speaker 4: kids that will get a meal.
- 5:22Speaker 3: Oh that's incidental to me.
- 5:24Speaker 2: And I told Michelle, and just to show you how
- 5:26Speaker 2: gracious I am, I told Michelle to make sure she
- 5:30Speaker 2: crams it down everybody's throat around the station that.
- 5:33Speaker 3: We raised forty two thousand dollars. Yep.
- 5:36Speaker 2: And she said she will so be prepared for an email.
- 5:40Speaker 2: She will Bill Bill and found Bill and Eel are
- 5:43Speaker 2: the greatest, The most favored is the tippy toppy took
- 5:46Speaker 2: most of us, most.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Of Please, I'll be out there and they'll be handing
- 5:49Speaker 4: me their keys, going please park it somewhere.
- 5:51Speaker 3: Safe, our my neighborhood. It's all safe. Okay, guys, you're
- 5:57Speaker 3: ready to go?
- 6:00Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 6:00Speaker 3: Are you ready to go?
- 6:01Speaker 4: I just you're done slathering yourself.
- 6:04Speaker 3: Sure I did. Listen. Let me tell you.
- 6:07Speaker 2: Do I remind you of someone very special who thinks
- 6:10Speaker 2: of himself as very special?
- 6:13Speaker 3: Yes? I do.
- 6:14Speaker 4: I can't wait for the orange hand start talking.
- 6:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Okay, here we go, guys. Signed for And by
- 6:18Speaker 2: the way, that is a big thank you to those
- 6:22Speaker 2: those bidders. It is a lot of kids, a lot
- 6:25Speaker 2: of kids are going to eat because of that. All right,
- 6:27Speaker 2: moving on, handle on the news with Amy Neil and
- 6:30Speaker 2: me Lee story month well and arrest may A big
- 6:35Speaker 2: deal is made of this, and I think it should
- 6:37Speaker 2: be a big deal there.
- 6:39Speaker 3: Arrest was made in the five year old case.
- 6:41Speaker 2: It was a pipe bomb or several pipe bombs that
- 6:43Speaker 2: were placed around Washington police stations the night of January
- 6:50Speaker 2: sixth or January fifth, before the January sixth overrunning of
- 6:54Speaker 2: the Capitol. And they finally got the guy, or they
- 6:56Speaker 2: think they got the guy. And it wasn't the tip
- 6:59Speaker 2: which usually happened. It was in a solid piece of evidence.
- 7:03Speaker 3: It was five.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Years of just combing through evidence over and over again.
- 7:11Speaker 2: It was just really good police work, is what did it? So?
- 7:15Speaker 4: And that's what video People assume videos it's a shoe in,
- 7:19Speaker 4: but there's a lot of work there.
- 7:20Speaker 3: Yeah, but look at video.
- 7:22Speaker 2: Look at video it is you can't see a face,
- 7:26Speaker 2: and they did it. It was reported based on the
- 7:28Speaker 2: gate of the person. And I don't know if you
- 7:30Speaker 2: know Glenn Beck with Glenn Beck is a conservative, very
- 7:34Speaker 2: conservative talk show host, radio and television. Anyway, he reported
- 7:40Speaker 2: or the Blaze. His organization reported that there it was
- 7:42Speaker 2: a woman because of the gate and named the woman
- 7:47Speaker 2: if I'm not mistaken, and it turned out not to be.
- 7:51Speaker 2: So she issuing their ass off because she got death
- 7:54Speaker 2: threats and all kinds of things, and it was interesting stuff.
- 7:58Speaker 3: So anyway, the good news is that it looks like
- 8:00Speaker 3: they got the guy.
- 8:01Speaker 5: I wonder why didn't they find him sooner than this?
- 8:04Speaker 3: I think I don't know the answer to that.
- 8:06Speaker 2: And they're saying, finally, going over and over and over
- 8:10Speaker 2: again the evidence they were able to track him down
- 8:13Speaker 2: because if you look at the video you can't.
- 8:15Speaker 3: See who it is.
- 8:16Speaker 6: No, but now they're saying they have like records of
- 8:20Speaker 6: when he bought like the batteries and the pieces of pipe,
- 8:23Speaker 6: and I'm like, nothing's private if they can go back
- 8:26Speaker 6: and find him actually buying all those things by here
- 8:29Speaker 6: to have.
- 8:30Speaker 2: You know, he bought a trailhead to be able to Yeah,
- 8:33Speaker 2: who I mean, I have gone to Low's yesterday. I
- 8:35Speaker 2: went to Low's and I bought like a butane lighter
- 8:39Speaker 2: thing that could easily be used to buttane light. And
- 8:43Speaker 2: that's going to be for our barbecue as a matter
- 8:46Speaker 2: of fact, to light the coals for the big green
- 8:48Speaker 2: egg to make them light up quicker, so it really
- 8:51Speaker 2: zooms up. You know. They have that buttane lighter thing,
- 8:54Speaker 2: like the blow towards thing. So yeah, I could have
- 8:57Speaker 2: been tagged, sure, but I wasn't. Someone else was.
- 9:03Speaker 4: You know what, it's a lot of police work for
- 9:05Speaker 4: this person just to get pardoned by Trump.
- 9:08Speaker 3: What are you going to do? Good point?
- 9:10Speaker 5: Oh, I don't think this person's getting pardoned.
- 9:12Speaker 6: New new that the cash Bettel was saying they were
- 9:16Speaker 6: like spearheading this investigation.
- 9:18Speaker 2: Yeah no, this vers is going down big time, assuming
- 9:21Speaker 2: that the jury convicts.
- 9:23Speaker 6: A challenge on Texas redistricting is toast get it, Texas toast?
- 9:28Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no.
- 9:29Speaker 6: The Supreme Court ruled that Texas and its Republican leaders
- 9:33Speaker 6: can go ahead and use the new election map in
- 9:36Speaker 6: twenty twenty sixth with the new congressional districts that's expected
- 9:40Speaker 6: to send five more Republicans to Congress. And of course,
- 9:43Speaker 6: the response to that was the California is doing redistricting
- 9:46Speaker 6: of its own because of Texas. The Justice is set
- 9:49Speaker 6: aside a lower court ruling that said the state's new
- 9:54Speaker 6: maps were a racial jerry mander, and the Court said
- 9:58Speaker 6: the impetus for the adoption of the Texas Map was
- 10:02Speaker 6: partisan advantage, pure and simple. That was from Justice Samuel Alito,
- 10:07Speaker 6: and he said, that's been going on for.
- 10:08Speaker 2: Years and that is perfectly constitutional. Legislatures can do things
- 10:14Speaker 2: like redistrict based on politics. And the Court said, yeah,
- 10:19Speaker 2: this is all politics. A couple of reasons that happened.
- 10:22Speaker 2: First of all, the argument among those detractors are saying
- 10:25Speaker 2: that it is illegal because it was racially motivated.
- 10:30Speaker 3: The Court said, we don't think so. This is all
- 10:33Speaker 3: partisan politics.
- 10:35Speaker 2: And the argument is also that the court and this
- 10:38Speaker 2: is what the way the courts work. Great deference is
- 10:41Speaker 2: given to legislators. The presumption is always given to legislatures,
- 10:47Speaker 2: and that's what happened here. So now it's going to
- 10:50Speaker 2: be legislatures all over the country doing you exactly this
- 10:54Speaker 2: redistricting their brains out, and if you look at real numbers,
- 10:57Speaker 2: the Republicans have somewhat an advantage. Except the midterms, the
- 11:04Speaker 2: Republicans are going to have a hard time overcoming this
- 11:07Speaker 2: affordability business big time.
- 11:09Speaker 3: All right, But we do one more and then we'll
- 11:11Speaker 3: take a break. All right.
- 11:13Speaker 4: You know, the Department of Justice should have just called
- 11:16Speaker 4: handle on the law because they would have gotten the
- 11:19Speaker 4: same response. You have no case. A federal judge has
- 11:22Speaker 4: thrown out criminal charges against two of President Donald Trump's adversaries,
- 11:28Speaker 4: former cases FBI Director James Comy and New York Attorney
- 11:33Speaker 4: General Letitia James. The prosecution, a federal prosecution team, just
- 11:38Speaker 4: failed simply to convince the majority of the grand jurors
- 11:42Speaker 4: to charges.
- 11:43Speaker 3: That grand jury, though just handed called this one too. Yeah,
- 11:48Speaker 3: it handed down a no bill. Now.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Originally the reason her case and the case of Comy
- 11:55Speaker 2: it was dismissed is because the court ruled that the
- 12:00Speaker 2: that the attorney general or the US attorney in Virginia
- 12:05Speaker 2: was not qualified or it was illegal. She was named
- 12:09Speaker 2: illegally or kept on going illegally, and that was a
- 12:12Speaker 2: technical rule one hundred and twenty days. And the court
- 12:14Speaker 2: and the jurist and the government kept on putting it
- 12:18Speaker 2: off and tried to get well, anyway, it doesn't matter.
- 12:21Speaker 3: It's a long discussion on that one.
- 12:23Speaker 2: What happened here is they okay, it was dismissed, so
- 12:27Speaker 2: they refiled it in front of the grand jury. They
- 12:29Speaker 2: wanted to get another indictment and the grand jury said no,
- 12:34Speaker 2: there isn't enough evidence. That's a no bill, is what
- 12:37Speaker 2: it's called. And that is so rare because grand juries
- 12:42Speaker 2: indict everybody and everything, and a no bill almost never
- 12:47Speaker 2: ever happens.
- 12:48Speaker 3: Now, are they going to do it again? They can.
- 12:51Speaker 2: They can attempt to indict and reindicte and reindite and
- 12:54Speaker 2: reindite until the grand jury, until the grand jury disbands.
- 13:00Speaker 2: I think it's eighteen months for a grand jury to
- 13:03Speaker 2: meet and then Iderrhea. Yeah, they could. Now are they
- 13:07Speaker 2: going to I don't think so. I think the politics
- 13:11Speaker 2: of this, the optics are so insane. If they tried again,
- 13:15Speaker 2: I think they had a very hard time because the
- 13:17Speaker 2: grand jury already said no, and so we'll try again.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Can you imagine the politics?
- 13:23Speaker 5: US strikes again.
- 13:25Speaker 6: The US militaries carried out strike on a suspected drug
- 13:29Speaker 6: boat in the Eastern Pacific. Four people on board were
- 13:32Speaker 6: apparently killed. The Southern Spear says that intelligence confirmed the
- 13:39Speaker 6: boat was carrying narcotics and transitting along a known narco
- 13:43Speaker 6: traffic route in the Eastern Pacific. There is also along
- 13:48Speaker 6: with the post on social media, was a twenty second
- 13:51Speaker 6: twenty one second long video showing the boat being hit.
- 13:54Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a whole legal issue about that.
- 13:57Speaker 2: Whether or not the president has a jurisdiction to do
- 14:00Speaker 2: that and to call the DARCO trafficantes, well they already
- 14:05Speaker 2: called him a terrorist group. And whether he ordered this
- 14:08Speaker 2: or Pete Hetzig can order this, what I find fascinating
- 14:11Speaker 2: is the issue, and we're going to bring it up today.
- 14:13Speaker 2: About those two survivors that were attacked. We've been talking
- 14:18Speaker 2: about that a boat was blown up and two guys survived,
- 14:22Speaker 2: and then Congress or the leadership.
- 14:26Speaker 3: Was given the ability to see the videotape.
- 14:29Speaker 2: The argument was that they were clinging to debris and
- 14:33Speaker 2: they were killed. One of the Republican senators said it
- 14:38Speaker 2: looked like they were trying to turn the boat over
- 14:42Speaker 2: and to now fight the aircraft coming in the jets.
- 14:47Speaker 2: The Democrats said, what are you talking about turning the
- 14:50Speaker 2: boat over? Fascinating in that it's not a discussion as
- 14:55Speaker 2: to Republican conservative liberal, it's looking at A and two
- 15:01Speaker 2: and looking at two entirely different videos. This is what
- 15:06Speaker 2: I saw, No you didn't, this is what happened. Wait
- 15:09Speaker 2: a minute, at least agree on what happened and then
- 15:12Speaker 2: decide the policy afterwards. It's just crazy.
- 15:18Speaker 4: Place in this country. We got people celebrate the fact
- 15:22Speaker 4: that an Italian man American killed in cold blood somebody
- 15:30Speaker 4: that was a CEO of an insurance company and he's
- 15:33Speaker 4: a hero. But you can't take a second shot at
- 15:37Speaker 4: a couple of skun bags that are bringing drugs into
- 15:40Speaker 4: the country.
- 15:41Speaker 3: The argument is where I just.
- 15:44Speaker 4: Think it's you keep talking about the legality of it.
- 15:47Speaker 4: I'm talking about we the people talking about it, and
- 15:50Speaker 4: it's like, oh, yeah killed Charlie.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Think yeah, I think a lot of it doesn't have
- 15:56Speaker 2: to really do with the issue of gross it is.
- 15:59Speaker 2: But the the big issue on that one is were
- 16:01Speaker 2: they clinging to debris?
- 16:03Speaker 3: And do you kill people?
- 16:05Speaker 4: No matter what Jack and rose Man, it's not, you know,
- 16:10Speaker 4: the Titanic going, does it's to market?
- 16:13Speaker 3: I mean everybody makes it like I understand, all right,
- 16:18Speaker 3: vote Aisle.
- 16:19Speaker 2: Let's move on so we can spend we can spend hours,
- 16:22Speaker 2: we can spend hours on that one.
- 16:23Speaker 3: Okay, moving on, all right?
- 16:25Speaker 4: So, UH, the Advisory Committee for the Union unitization something
- 16:32Speaker 4: like that practices UH been scheduled to weigh in on
- 16:35Speaker 4: whether to change recommendations regarding hepatitis B vaccination. Now this
- 16:39Speaker 4: has to do not just with all of us, this
- 16:41Speaker 4: has to do with newborns in the US. So the
- 16:45Speaker 4: vote is now set to take place today on the
- 16:49Speaker 4: session today. It had already been pushed back I guess
- 16:54Speaker 4: by the advisors in the September meeting, But during yesterday's meeting,
- 16:58Speaker 4: advisors stumbled over repetitive language and lack of clarity about
- 17:01Speaker 4: what they're voting on, so they delay the crucial vote
- 17:07Speaker 4: in a tense meeting yet again.
- 17:08Speaker 2: It seems, Yeah, this is what a scumbag Robert Kennedy Jr.
- 17:12Speaker 6: Is.
- 17:12Speaker 2: He fired everybody on the advisory committee and put in
- 17:16Speaker 2: his own people who a couple of them. And by
- 17:19Speaker 2: the way, number two at the CDC is a straight
- 17:22Speaker 2: vaccine skeptics straight across. And the argument now is hepatitis
- 17:27Speaker 2: B vaccines at birth and there's three or four shots
- 17:30Speaker 2: is considered by mainstream science to be insanely effective, like.
- 17:36Speaker 3: Ninety nine something percent.
- 17:38Speaker 2: But because it's a vaccine, and because vaccines cost autism.
- 17:44Speaker 3: We have to relook at everything.
- 17:46Speaker 2: We have to study all the vaccines, and it doesn't
- 17:48Speaker 2: matter if they've been tested and studied for fifty years,
- 17:51Speaker 2: we have to look at it. And they brought in
- 17:53Speaker 2: his witnesses crackpots, straight out crackpots.
- 17:58Speaker 3: I'll tell you who. Probably he is not very happy.
- 18:01Speaker 2: Bill Cassidy, who is the center that gave the vote
- 18:04Speaker 2: to have Kennedy confirmed, and Kennedy was There's Cassidy was
- 18:12Speaker 2: and is a fervent advocate of vaccines. Matter of fact,
- 18:16Speaker 2: he was the spokesperson for several pro vaccines organizations and
- 18:20Speaker 2: he voted to confirm. And he is now seeing what
- 18:24Speaker 2: he has wrought. And I'm sure he's kicking himself in
- 18:28Speaker 2: the ass saying what.
- 18:29Speaker 3: Did you do?
- 18:30Speaker 2: Oh? And by the way, Robert Kennedy lied and said,
- 18:32Speaker 2: oh no, no, I'm not going to touch vaccines though
- 18:34Speaker 2: I believe in science.
- 18:35Speaker 3: Of course, that didn't happen, all right. Moving on a.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Lot of hate.
- 18:40Speaker 6: Hate crimes in La County are still at near record
- 18:45Speaker 6: high levels for twenty twenty four. The numbers were just
- 18:48Speaker 6: released yesterday from the Los Angeles County Commission on Human Relations.
- 18:53Speaker 6: It said there were thirteen hundred and fifty five reported
- 18:55Speaker 6: hate crimes in the county in twenty twenty four. It's
- 18:58Speaker 6: actually a one percent decrease from the year before, but
- 19:01Speaker 6: still really high. Anti Black hate crimes accounted for the
- 19:05Speaker 6: majority of incidents, and hate crimes against the Middle Eastern
- 19:08Speaker 6: community increased sevenfold.
- 19:11Speaker 5: That was the largest rise in any Yeah, what a shocker.
- 19:14Speaker 2: I'm going to do more of that at seven point
- 19:16Speaker 2: fifty when we dive into trying to explain why and
- 19:20Speaker 2: who and it's a sign of the times, as Neil
- 19:22Speaker 2: points out, it's just a sign of the times.
- 19:25Speaker 3: It's crazy times.
- 19:26Speaker 2: This is the bizierro where if you've ever read Superman comics,
- 19:30Speaker 2: the bizarro world, that's what we're in.
- 19:33Speaker 6: Okay, the gondola gets green lighted, but it didn't.
- 19:38Speaker 5: It didn't go quietly. We'll just say that.
- 19:40Speaker 6: Lots of community members, hundreds of impacked a meeting room
- 19:43Speaker 6: Thursday to have their say to the Metro Board of
- 19:47Speaker 6: Directors whether they are in favor of or opposed to
- 19:51Speaker 6: the gondola project that's supposed to go from Union Station
- 19:55Speaker 6: up to Dodger Stadium. And the board chairman said, hey,
- 19:58Speaker 6: we're not going to listen to community members before we vote. Well,
- 20:00Speaker 6: that didn't sit well, and the place erupted and there
- 20:03Speaker 6: were chants of let us speak from anti gondola people
- 20:06Speaker 6: and other chance of you already spoke from pro gondola forces.
- 20:11Speaker 6: So the directors leave the room to go figure out.
- 20:14Speaker 5: What to do.
- 20:15Speaker 6: And then all those people are sitting in the meeting room,
- 20:18Speaker 6: chants are ebbing and flowing from both sides. The anti
- 20:21Speaker 6: gondola forces passed around a bullhorn. The pro gondola forces
- 20:25Speaker 6: danced around the room.
- 20:28Speaker 3: It was going to happen either.
- 20:30Speaker 2: They said they were going to vote and favor it beforehand,
- 20:33Speaker 2: so this was just this was just entertainment, which they did.
- 20:36Speaker 5: But they allowed them then to speak before.
- 20:38Speaker 3: They were an hour yelling, everybody yelling for an hour.
- 20:42Speaker 5: I love that they were dancing around the room.
- 20:44Speaker 4: Well to see how they lay their bodies over in
- 20:46Speaker 4: front of a gondola when it's built. All right, Netflix, man,
- 20:50Speaker 4: we are living in a real world monopoly game. Netflix
- 20:54Speaker 4: has prevailed for its bid to buy a lot of
- 20:59Speaker 4: Warner Brothers Discovery. They agree to pay seventy two billion
- 21:03Speaker 4: with a B for you know, just right down the
- 21:06Speaker 4: street in Burbank. Best Warner Brothers film their television studios HBO,
- 21:11Speaker 4: Max and HBO. So big, big deal going in big
- 21:16Speaker 4: this morning. And that gives Netflix. You know, Harry Potter.
- 21:19Speaker 4: That gives them Batman, that gives them Fred and Flintstone.
- 21:22Speaker 2: It gives them everything. Aversely, we're going to talk more
- 21:24Speaker 2: about that at seven o'clock. By the way, well said
- 21:27Speaker 2: when you open the segment with it's like a monopoly game.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Isn't it.
- 21:31Speaker 3: It just is like no, very well said and everything.
- 21:34Speaker 3: It was a good intro.
- 21:36Speaker 5: Well, it's not raining men in Latvia.
- 21:39Speaker 6: There's a nationwide shortage of men in the European country,
- 21:43Speaker 6: which has increasingly forced women to hire husbands for an
- 21:47Speaker 6: hour to help with help around the house. According to
- 21:51Speaker 6: a recent report by Eurostat, Latvia has fifteen and a
- 21:55Speaker 6: half percent more women than men. That's three times the
- 21:58Speaker 6: average rate in the europe In Union and over the
- 22:01Speaker 6: age of sixty five, there are twice as many women
- 22:04Speaker 6: as men.
- 22:06Speaker 2: Yeah, and they're I don't know, if you've ever seen
- 22:08Speaker 2: a lot for young women, you know what they look like, careful,
- 22:12Speaker 2: they're very they're very they're very healthy. You know, horse
- 22:15Speaker 2: get stuck in mud. Women pull out without trailer or
- 22:19Speaker 2: without tractor. They're actually some of them are just knockouts. Yeah,
- 22:22Speaker 2: I'm just you know, I just wanted to make a
- 22:24Speaker 2: bad joke. Okay, I see, am I allowed?
- 22:27Speaker 3: Would they be?
- 22:28Speaker 4: Well, why would they need a man?
- 22:30Speaker 3: That's right, that's my whole point. And this doesn't make sense,
- 22:33Speaker 3: you know what I mean.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah, it's actually that you want men to do household
- 22:38Speaker 2: chores and.
- 22:39Speaker 3: You hire them.
- 22:40Speaker 2: It's it's almost like a housekeeper, but it's you gets
- 22:45Speaker 2: you advertise and uh, you know it's weird starting any men?
- 22:49Speaker 4: Can you get that thing from the top and then
- 22:52Speaker 4: you open this jar?
- 22:53Speaker 3: Yeah? All right.
- 22:55Speaker 4: So US Immigration and custom and for Enforcement continues its crackdowns.
- 23:00Speaker 4: We're still seeing the videos everything like that. Of course,
- 23:03Speaker 4: their focuses on undocumented immigrants, supposedly, and the superintendent for
- 23:09Speaker 4: Los Angeles Unified says that it's having an impact on
- 23:13Speaker 4: the school district.
- 23:14Speaker 3: Well, of course it is. Yeah.
- 23:16Speaker 4: But the thing that I find funny here is that
- 23:18Speaker 4: when people complained about illegal aliens being in the school
- 23:23Speaker 4: system and causing effect on grades and the waste scrubb runs,
- 23:27Speaker 4: everyone said, no, it doesn't have any effect. But now
- 23:30Speaker 4: that they're not there, it's like, well, it's having an
- 23:32Speaker 4: effect in an adverse ways.
- 23:34Speaker 3: Of course it has to. And by the way, we're
- 23:37Speaker 3: not talking about anything. It's morally wrong.
- 23:39Speaker 2: Here, the Supreme Court ruled in a Texas case US
- 23:41Speaker 2: Supreme Court that education must be given to every student
- 23:46Speaker 2: in the country up through high school and cannot be
- 23:49Speaker 2: asked The student cannot be asked about immigration status, which
- 23:52Speaker 2: means that LA Unified, which has an enormous number of Latinos,
- 23:57Speaker 2: you have to automatically assume that a decent proportion are
- 24:03Speaker 2: in fact illegal. Much like if you look at the
- 24:07Speaker 2: university in the Latvian population of Los Angeles versus the
- 24:12Speaker 2: Hispanic population, You're going to see a pretty good percentage
- 24:15Speaker 2: of undocumented people who are in LA.
- 24:18Speaker 3: And that translates.
- 24:19Speaker 2: That that translates to the schools too, and they're frightened.
- 24:23Speaker 4: Those kids are frightened, the parents are frightened. I get that,
- 24:25Speaker 4: and all of that is horrific to me. In the
- 24:27Speaker 4: way these raids are being played out is horrific. In
- 24:31Speaker 4: many cases. You can't help but look at states that
- 24:35Speaker 4: have large amounts of illegal immigration having poor school testing
- 24:40Speaker 4: and poor grades.
- 24:41Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you can, because English is the second language.
- 24:45Speaker 2: Keep in mind, and I'm going to go now, I'm
- 24:47Speaker 2: going to get in trouble for saying this. Okay, you
- 24:49Speaker 2: have kids of parents who are illegal who come across
- 24:56Speaker 2: into the United States. These are not people who have
- 24:58Speaker 2: marketable skills. The They are not people who cross over
- 25:01Speaker 2: the border who have high educations. And so you've got
- 25:05Speaker 2: kids that come from a lower socioonomic level than others.
- 25:10Speaker 2: And it's just going to be you look at problem
- 25:13Speaker 2: after problem after problem, and that's the case here, and
- 25:16Speaker 2: of course you're going to have decreasing You add all
- 25:18Speaker 2: of that together, and you have decreasing numbers at LA Unified,
- 25:22Speaker 2: which I think is I think there are more Hispanics
- 25:26Speaker 2: in LA Unified than certainly Caucasians. I'd like to know
- 25:30Speaker 2: those figures and if you can figure out the percentage
- 25:32Speaker 2: of students at LA Unified who are Hispanic.
- 25:37Speaker 3: And she is not paying attention to me at all.
- 25:39Speaker 2: Okay, We're going to come back and I'll look at
- 25:42Speaker 2: at myself.
- 25:43Speaker 3: I'll ask SII real quickly.
- 25:45Speaker 2: Just before the break, we were talking about LA Unified
- 25:48Speaker 2: school district and how enrollment has dropped dramatically in basically
- 25:54Speaker 2: in fear of ice coming in and picking up students,
- 25:58Speaker 2: and I think as a legitimate fear, not that they
- 26:00Speaker 2: have yet gone into the school and pick up kids.
- 26:02Speaker 2: As far as I know, but the general fear. And
- 26:05Speaker 2: then I said, how what is the percentage of Hispanic
- 26:08Speaker 2: students in LA Unified? Neil came up with the figure
- 26:11Speaker 2: seventy three percent, And how many are estimated to be undocumented?
- 26:17Speaker 3: Illegal?
- 26:18Speaker 2: And all they can do is estimate because they can't ask.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Twenty five percent of the entire school district is estimated
- 26:23Speaker 2: to be illegal. Hey, you wonder why they're frightened. You
- 26:26Speaker 2: wonder why their parents are saying, uh, you're not going
- 26:29Speaker 2: to school to some extent, which is why enrollment is dropping.
- 26:33Speaker 3: All right, moving on, let's do an Olympic story.
- 26:36Speaker 6: Big bucks come into LA courtesy of the twenty twenty
- 26:39Speaker 6: eight Summer Games. A new economic report says LA's Olympic
- 26:44Speaker 6: and Paralympic Games are expected to generate between thirteen and
- 26:48Speaker 6: seventeen billion dollars for the region between now and twenty
- 26:53Speaker 6: twenty nine. The report sites a fiscally responsible, low liability
- 26:59Speaker 6: games within more than seven billion dollars, privately funded budget,
- 27:03Speaker 6: and a reliance on existing facilities, so we're not having
- 27:05Speaker 6: to spend as much because we already have stadiums and stuff.
- 27:10Speaker 6: All right, this wee'm staring off into space.
- 27:15Speaker 4: This one's a doozy hold up. So President Donald Trump,
- 27:19Speaker 4: his famous name that has been on the side of
- 27:21Speaker 4: many buildings before, has now been installed on a building
- 27:27Speaker 4: and it's signage. But the unique thing is this particular
- 27:31Speaker 4: building is an independent agency that his administration got it
- 27:37Speaker 4: essentially earlier this year. So it's the US Institute of Peace,
- 27:41Speaker 4: the USIP, and it it says welcome to the Donald J.
- 27:48Speaker 4: Trump Institute of Peace. The best is yet to come.
- 27:53Speaker 2: It's just it's so insane that it just defies credulity.
- 27:59Speaker 2: The FIFER World I think the lottery for the World
- 28:03Speaker 2: Cup attendance is coming out today and billions of people
- 28:07Speaker 2: are going to the lottery. The head of FIFA, Huge
- 28:12Speaker 2: Trump ally and advocate, pushed like crazy to have Trump
- 28:16Speaker 2: win the Nobel Peace Prize.
- 28:18Speaker 3: Trump didn't get it.
- 28:20Speaker 2: FIFA has just created the FIFA World Peace Prize, and
- 28:28Speaker 2: the odds makers in Las Vegas are putting the odds
- 28:32Speaker 2: of President Trump Trump winning the FIFA winning the FIFA
- 28:37Speaker 2: World Peace Prize at just under ninety nine percent.
- 28:41Speaker 3: Well, I.
- 28:43Speaker 1: Love that.
- 28:44Speaker 4: The State Department posted on x Wednesday. It said it
- 28:47Speaker 4: announced that it had renamed the institute quote to reflect
- 28:51Speaker 4: the greatest deal maker in our nation on sectary.
- 28:54Speaker 3: Yep.
- 28:55Speaker 2: And you watch now you are going to see science
- 28:58Speaker 2: books we written for kids will no longer be the
- 29:00Speaker 2: Solar system. It will be the Trump system. It's going
- 29:04Speaker 2: to really just explode. I mean, you know, this is
- 29:08Speaker 2: fun stuff. I mean, this does not affect prices, does
- 29:11Speaker 2: not affect going to the supermarket and where some really
- 29:14Speaker 2: serious stuff is going on. This is just entertaining. I mean,
- 29:17Speaker 2: I just want I just want to know how far
- 29:19Speaker 2: this goes? Okay, moving on, better.
- 29:24Speaker 6: Than a baseball card, maybe not, but getting there. A
- 29:27Speaker 6: game stop customer is cashed in after trading a Pokemon
- 29:31Speaker 6: card in for over thirty thousand dollars.
- 29:34Speaker 5: Apparently a customer in Grapevine.
- 29:36Speaker 6: Texas sold the gaming retailer a fully authenticated PSA Grade
- 29:41Speaker 6: ten hollow Ganger card with a fair market valuation of
- 29:46Speaker 6: almost thirty four thousand dollars, but they sold it for
- 29:48Speaker 6: thirty four hundred and ninety four.
- 29:50Speaker 2: Yeah. I have a question about that. Isn't this an
- 29:53Speaker 2: artificial price on these things?
- 29:55Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 29:56Speaker 2: I would guess that Kono, who's a Pokemon fan, I
- 29:58Speaker 2: have no idea if you are. But a company like
- 30:01Speaker 2: Pokemon releases a very limited number of cards, and therefore
- 30:05Speaker 2: they're worth a bucket of money, and they control it,
- 30:08Speaker 2: and they just control it, and so if they release six,
- 30:10Speaker 2: it's worth a zillion bucks and it's their call. Unlike
- 30:15Speaker 2: as Amy pointed out, other baseball card, like a Honus
- 30:19Speaker 2: Wagner card, and we're talking about the turn of the
- 30:22Speaker 2: last century. Uh they I think that sold for three
- 30:26Speaker 2: million or two point eight million dollars because that was
- 30:29Speaker 2: that was a legitimate, not manufactured process.
- 30:32Speaker 3: It happened, you.
- 30:33Speaker 2: Know, like a Babe Ruth baseball card, Bickey Mantle rookie card.
- 30:37Speaker 3: It was as you know, it was just part of
- 30:39Speaker 3: the card stock.
- 30:41Speaker 4: But it's worth nothing unless somebody is interested in collecting it.
- 30:44Speaker 3: Yeah, but that's anything. Yeah, but that's anything.
- 30:47Speaker 4: Yes, that's the whole point that it's just the value
- 30:49Speaker 4: that people put on it. I mean, hey, the same
- 30:51Speaker 4: with gold. Yeah, right, look at this rock. It's hard
- 30:57Speaker 4: to find one. Give you a bunch of money for it.
- 31:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 31:00Speaker 2: Well, let's well, five thousand years from now, maybe maybe
- 31:03Speaker 2: people will say that about Pokemon cards.
- 31:09Speaker 3: All right, pokemona.
- 31:12Speaker 2: Things have been around for a while, have a little
- 31:14Speaker 2: bit more validity, but it's just been manufactured by the company.
- 31:19Speaker 2: It's like the beers.
- 31:20Speaker 3: You know, there are enough. You know how how.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Many diamonds there are out there? There are tons, and
- 31:26Speaker 2: the beers artificially creates a scarcity that makes diamonds that valuable.
- 31:33Speaker 2: And if the beer, the beers were to release a
- 31:35Speaker 2: bunch more diamonds, would they control of they drop in price.
- 31:38Speaker 4: So pardon nothing.
- 31:42Speaker 2: The beers, that's those are those are the companies in
- 31:45Speaker 2: Germany that make beers. They're the beers, the beers. Okay, anyway,
- 31:52Speaker 2: I don't get it. Pokemon Pokemon, Pokemon Pokemon. All right,
- 31:57Speaker 2: We're done, guys, So much for that. Warner bro Tho's
- 32:00Speaker 2: down the street, the headquarters and quarter breath. Yeah, dub
- 32:03Speaker 2: pars KF I am six point forty.
- 32:06Speaker 3: You've been listening to The Bill Handle Show.
- 32:08Speaker 2: Catch my Show Monday through Friday six am to nine am,
- 32:12Speaker 2: and anytime on demand on the iHeartRadio app.
