- 0:36so we can keep the conversation going. Now, let's get into this week's
- 0:41episode. So what do you think led to the mistrust? Before you get
- 0:51to that, hey, guys, this is another episode, another edition of
- 0:58Just Ask. I am the guest Greg Riley. But obviously you don't sound
- 1:03like well wit wait, this is a first edition episode that we are trying
- 1:08out and today, well we are trying The podcast is called Just Ask.
- 1:15So Jessica brought on a guest today that would be that would be just Asking
- 1:21now I will I would be talking a little bit as well. But no,
- 1:26before we get into it, because some we got some new people that
- 1:30are joining the community. So if you didn't catch the first episode, right
- 1:34you for one, we're gonna desiate. We gotta make sure we linked this
- 1:38episode to the first episode, because if you didn't catch the first episode,
- 1:41you won't understand why he's a continual not guess because he family and the Jets
- 1:47ask family. So this is why he has the flexibility to do something like
- 1:53this because don't come here talkinson, I'm just ask that's that's gonna be a
- 1:57just no. And can we? And so since were just asking, I
- 2:00know, just our relationship, we always talk about being honest, open and
- 2:06transparent, and I'm learning that vulnerability is a true superpower. It is,
- 2:10so I want to ask permission. Do I have permission to tell the audience
- 2:16why we actually doing this? Do I have that you do? Okay?
- 2:21So the way this came about is Jessica sometimes has anxiety or whatnot of being
- 2:30interviewed. This is a really, really powerful thing. She's a great interviewer
- 2:35as all you have seen from watching the pod, but when she's interviewed sometimes
- 2:39she gets nervous. And the Holy Spirit put it on my heart to help
- 2:44my sister and be like, hey, look, I think that we should
- 2:47do an interview we just asked on your podcast. Let's get you into space
- 2:52that's comfortable and let's break the yoke of rejection. Let's break the yoke of
- 2:57not feeling worried. Let's break the yoke of fear. Because you are beautifully
- 3:01and wonderfully made. Your condition does not have to be your conclusion. You
- 3:06are worthy, you are worth the position right and and sometimes I think that
- 3:13you were just talking about the mistrust piece. I think sometimes the mistrust tricks
- 3:19us out of our spot to where we feel that it was total rejection,
- 3:23but not understanding that rejection is God's protection. Y'all write that down. I
- 3:30will not allow mistrust to trick me out of my spot. I think that's
- 3:37for the people. I will not allow mistrust to trick me out of my
- 3:43spot. And I'm gonna get his quick, short story. Then we're gonna
- 3:46get into the questions. So I was reading, So I'm reading the Book
- 3:53of John right now. And if you if you read the Bible, of
- 3:55course, you know in the four Gospels, you got Peter that denied Jesus
- 3:59the time he did right, And one of the things was long story short.
- 4:03Jesus told Peter to pray because he knew that people was coming. Peter
- 4:08fell asleep, so he did not have the covering of the Holy Spirit to
- 4:12protect his flesh against denying Jesus. So we can see where Peter denied Jesus
- 4:19three times, God could have took that is Peter didn't trust Jesus, or
- 4:26Peter could have took there air is mistrusting the failure because he could have felt
- 4:29he failed Jesus. Right but in that moment when he didn't, when he
- 4:33when he didn't, when he denied Jesus three times. Right after that moment,
- 4:40you see God put Peter in a place to where he was able to
- 4:44write two books for hisself and the Bible, where Peter began to anchor people
- 4:49because he failed forward he was he was able to deny three times, realize
- 4:57he was wrong, see his mistake, and move forward. And I want
- 5:00to run that into you started off by talking about the mistrust piece, So
- 5:04how did you allow mistrust? Okay, where did that come from? Number
- 5:11one? Where did that see come from? And how did that trick you
- 5:15out of your spot by you not feeling like you can trust your village?
- 5:17See the thing about understanding your power, it can also trick you into understanding
- 5:25your opportunity what some people call weaknesses, but I choose to use the word
- 5:29opportunity and so just learning. I would use the word boundaries, learning my
- 5:36boundaries with people and learning my boundaries or relationship, not saying the relationship is
- 5:41good or bad. Boundaries are boundaries, right, I've allowed people in my
- 5:46ear that shouldn't have had the access that they did. So, like for
- 5:50example, for example, my leadership at work has a level of boundaries boundaries
- 6:00like they shouldn't some of them, not all of them. It's a few
- 6:03select people that can connect to me in different areas of my life. But
- 6:08some of those boundaries I might have allowed to bleed into my emotional, spiritual,
- 6:14intellectual boundaries when it should have just been left at work. That's just
- 6:19an example on what I'm seeing. So my mistrust comes from allowing people into
- 6:26areas of my mental capacity that should have never been allowed. So to follow
- 6:31up with the mistrust piece, do you think mistrust factors into a bit of
- 6:38confidence when you're not able to allow yourself to lean on your village? Do
- 6:44you think by having that mistrust do you think it rattles the cage of confidence?
- 6:49I think I think that's a fair statement, but I also think the
- 6:56mistrust of who. So when you think about it, do I trust even
- 7:00myself. So when you talk about confidence, it's in the whole. So
- 7:06now we understand that there's mistrust, But where do I mistrust myself? And
- 7:13now where do I mistrust people? Bishop Moody Van Moody has this book called
- 7:16the I Factor and the People Factor. He brought He took the I think
- 7:20he did the people factor first, but then it brought it reminding himself that
- 7:26he had to do I Factor. Two powerful books, but you can't have
- 7:29one without the other, all right. And so while I believe that is
- 7:32how wherever areas I mistrust myself and I will lack confidence there, And because
- 7:39I lack confidence there, it exudes into the people. And so now it's
- 7:43of where I want to be out of and where I want to do the
- 7:47work and try to trust myself in. If I haven't disciplined or taught people,
- 7:53how taught people my level of confidence in the area, or exuded that
- 7:58and exposed that the people, then I'm in a real revolving door. Because
- 8:03I'm a people person. Expect I love words of affirmation is my go to,
- 8:07like my love language, and so when I'm not getting that or when
- 8:11I experiencing that, then I go back into a sunken place. And so
- 8:16now I'm a revolving door. Instead of being able to say, okay,
- 8:18I just trust myself. I can exude this confidence so much so that I
- 8:22make it believable to other people. But I really don't like I don't really
- 8:26like saying that, And I'm gonna tell you why, because when I hear
- 8:30the word make believable, it almost sounds like I'm trying to finess. And
- 8:35I don't want to be a liar to I don't want a lie to myself
- 8:39and I don't want a lot of people. And so how do I keep
- 8:41that balance of I'm a working process, but it's still exude the confidence that
- 8:46I'm trying to practice. I got something for you with that. So I
- 8:50want to challenge you on the make believable Parti's line to yourself. Okay.
- 8:54So one of the things that we have to think about belief. Belief is
- 9:01a very powerful thing. And one of the statements that I heard growing up
- 9:05a lot was you have to believe to achieve that. Now, when you
- 9:11hear believed to achieve, you think of it when you hear that. What
- 9:15do you think when when you he believed to achieve. What do you think
- 9:18I think about But do you think of positive or do you think of negative?
- 9:24Like I think positive, and I think most of us do. What
- 9:28I have learned is that when you believe that, you achieve that. That's
- 9:35good. When you believe rejection, you achieve rejectile. So so so belief
- 9:39is a It works the same way. If I believe success, I achieve
- 9:43success. So when you say you're trying to make it believable. Once you
- 9:48tell yourself that what you make believe is a lie, you start to believe
- 9:50the lie, and what you accomplish is the lie, not really what you
- 9:54want to accomplish. That's so good. So so you have to you have
- 9:58to actually prep yoursel elf on what you believe in. You gotta challenge yourself
- 10:03because if I don't believe this the truth, I believe this the lie.
- 10:05So you still believing either way it goes you believe in one of the other.
- 10:11So it's a double head coin. So are you believing in your success?
- 10:15Are you believing in your debt? Right? And so and so.
- 10:18I think that that's very important because sometimes we hear these cliches, we hear
- 10:24these mantras, and we think of the positive side, but no one brings
- 10:28to the forefront. That's worked both ways. That's that. That's good because
- 10:31sometimes we can get so hyper focused on the positive, positive, positive,
- 10:37and not realizing the principle. It's a principle at the end of the day.
- 10:41That's why you can have the worldly measures of things and it can work
- 10:46because it's the principle. The same machine you put success in is the same
- 10:52machine you put failing. It's a double headed coin on that. So so
- 10:56like so like, if I'm trying to be success that's for a thing,
- 11:01I can probably also be a failure at it. That's good. It could
- 11:05go either way, right, But it's all about the work I put in
- 11:09on what side of the coin I'm going to get that's good. So if
- 11:11I if I'm what I'm hearing you you say, is that because my focus
- 11:16and even if I'm focused on not feeling because I see the word failure,
- 11:22I end up feeling. It depends on what you believe, because sometimes we
- 11:26start to focus on so much of what we're not getting that we forget to
- 11:30focus on what we are moving towards. That's and that's fact I am so
- 11:33guilty of that I am so guilty that I was thinking today about, you
- 11:37know, nine to five and the opportunity that I have to tell my team
- 11:45good job, and I'm like, why don't Why don't I experience to my
- 11:48team that they're doing a good jobs because I'm scared to feel like I'm focused
- 11:54on not feeling. I'm focused on not breaking down. I'm focused on not
- 11:58doing the things that I feel like people perceive me at to the point where
- 12:01I'm a detriment to my own team. And it's like, it's like,
- 12:07girl, you don't yet they wonder why they don't get kudos. I don't
- 12:11even give myself kudos. One of them actually tells me you're hot on yourself,
- 12:16like you you are hot on yourself. They're more a little bit more
- 12:18mature, but they were like, you're you're hard on yourself. You don't
- 12:24give yourself enough grace, And so what does that look like to the people
- 12:30that I'm looking at leading and that I'm developing. So it's always looking like
- 12:35I don't appreciate them, or I don't I don't value them, I don't
- 12:41I don't see their contributions. So one thing that I even said to myself
- 12:46today, I said, man, for the for the next for the next
- 12:50few moments, for the next days, I'm gonna intentionally practice figuring out a
- 12:56genuinely seeking out what do they think? You know, what do they think
- 13:01I think they're good at because they probably don't. I don't know if they
- 13:03know that I think they're good at anything. And I got a couple of
- 13:07things for you on that. With that right there, what I want to
- 13:09submit to you is do the appreciation challenge, where for the whole month October,
- 13:13every day you find something to appreciate them for, right, and you
- 13:16let them know you're making You're making it known to them right. I think
- 13:22the other thing is too when you're talking about not giving yourself grace. One
- 13:28of the things Holy Spirit been dealing with me in this season its attitude versus
- 13:31aptitude. Come on, break that down. Attitude over aptitude. Attitude is
- 13:35a selter way of thinking that affect one's behavior. Selteric way of thinking.
- 13:41Your aptitude is your natural ability to be able to do something. So if
- 13:46your attitude is not right, it blocks your natural ability to be able to
- 13:50even do the thing. That's because your attitude is not in the right place.
- 13:54So what greg, what are you saying. It's all about the way
- 13:56you approach the thing. That's so good. It's all about the way you
- 14:01approach the thing. So let's just say I'm a leader in the business,
- 14:03and I go on to work and I'm coming in, I'm like, oh,
- 14:07I had a long day. Oh I had a long night. Oh
- 14:09the day gonna be so hard. Now I may have the natural ability to
- 14:13get the job done anyway, but because of my attitude, it's going to
- 14:18block my natural ability because now my attitude is gonna take this to my team
- 14:22because I'm the leader. Let me show you what the Lord just showed me.
- 14:24Why you said this. So it's almost like aptitude is the seed.
- 14:30The seed is the seed. So there's a natural the seed gonna be the
- 14:33seed. You can naturally do things. So once you do the if you
- 14:37do the necessary things with your attitude right, So that's the condition. So
- 14:43you nurture it, you water it, you plant it in the right soil,
- 14:46it's gonna grow. But the sea won't be able to grow with the
- 14:50wrong attitude. That's what I just saw you say. That's facts because your
- 14:54attitude is your approach. Your attitude is your approach, and then now you're
- 15:00I have to ask yourself, why am I in this setup way of thinking?
- 15:03It's affecting my behavior, And that's when we get into what consumes your
- 15:07grooms you. Yeah, that's good. What is consuming your mind and grooming
- 15:09your mind to produce that attitude? What are you allowing to your space to
- 15:13produce the attitude? Who are you allowing to your space to produce the attitude?
- 15:16That's good because there's so many times where we get a phone call or
- 15:20we on Instagram and we borrow somebody else trauma and started creating drama in our
- 15:24life because we borrowed that trauma. That's so good. That's so good.
- 15:28Sometimes they don't be nothing wrong it don't you like, why why I got
- 15:31attitude? Or what's what's good? What's what's going on? Like that?
- 15:37And that's sometimes I will say this, I have gotten better desert ate you
- 15:41can because I think I talk to you every day. I think I have
- 15:48gotten better with utilizing and saying hey something is up or hey I'll just randomly
- 15:56text her, I'm like, hey, I love you. Because I have
- 15:58to think on things or what I'm doing good at, like I'm doing good
- 16:03in opening up or better and opening up to people, sharing with people,
- 16:07letting them know that, Okay, I don't know how to put words or
- 16:11language to what I'm thinking or what I'm feeling right now, but just know
- 16:15that I love you and I appreciate you even being accessible to me. I
- 16:19think that's a big step because sometimes without acknowledging thank you, Holy Spirit,
- 16:25without acknowledging that somebody's there the whole, the enemy will try to use and
- 16:30say because he asked for me, nobody loves you, nobody's accessible to you,
- 16:34nobody cares about you. That's why our Monday calls mean a lot to
- 16:38me. Like at first, the enemy tray, I want to tell you,
- 16:42Oh, this is gonna be y'all, doctor Phil, doctor Phild,
- 16:47doctor Phield, doctor Field, doctor Phil. Okay, Paul, do y'all
- 16:56see how unmoved Greg is by. This is how you know he is too
- 17:00used to be like, he didn't move at all. He didn't move it.
- 17:03But there's a rate we'll feed into it. That's how you got to
- 17:06know. But I would say this, it was a time, especially when
- 17:14you left, I did not know you need a tissue. I don't know,
- 17:21just in case there was a time when you left. Yeah, I'm
- 17:32and when I say left, like he didn't leave you like just to be
- 17:36leaving. He got promoted. And I can think about it as far as
- 17:42like when you left, I didn't know where our relationship would be, and
- 17:48so I put a question mark by you unconsciously, you know, coach,
- 17:56My coach has been talking about uh, my coach has been talking about the
- 18:02subconscious versus unconscious. And I unconsciously did that because of the experiences I've had
- 18:07with other people and mainly other leaders who have not been as intentional as you,
- 18:17And so I placed you in a category where you wouldn't do the same
- 18:22of not being interested in me because I didn't benefit you anymore. And those
- 18:27m when you intentionally was like, I don't calling you Monday. It started
- 18:33off with I won't say it was just Mondays because we're talking more than Mondays.
- 18:37But every Monday he's intentional about hey, just how you doing, how's
- 18:41it going? Just checking in it's Monday. And I was like, you
- 18:47know, that's cute. I'm I'm on your checklist. And with somebody that
- 18:55you know battles with their value un self worth, they can be like Oh,
- 18:59that's cute. You know that that's sweet. Right, But then but
- 19:07then when we started getting into the weeds of our relationship and when God really
- 19:12started to be like, no, this is your brother, Like I was
- 19:19like, okay, but what if he don't feel the same. And so
- 19:22when God started allowing you to approach me, you didn't even know this because
- 19:26I didn't share this with you. But when God allowed you to approach me
- 19:30to say, had a little Holy spirit put this on my heart for you?
- 19:33Or hey, just what do you think about this? Or you were
- 19:37very inteentional, like even like y'all when I went to the podcast summing you
- 19:41would think he was going to the podcast someming like it was questions. It
- 19:45was, Okay, we need to go over your notes, we need to
- 19:48do this, like you were just you were invested in me completely and not
- 19:53just as far as just one section of my life. And I was like,
- 19:56Okay, I can really trust him on another level because as you know,
- 20:02vulnerability, We talk about vulnerability and how healthy it is, but just
- 20:06because something's healthy does not mean it's scared not scary. Fact, like that's
- 20:10probably the most one of the most scariest thing, most scared thing that you
- 20:14could do, and that's why God acts for that. Like that, it's
- 20:18an asking of God to say, be vulnerable, be vulnerable with me,
- 20:23show me yourself, show me where you are, And a lot of us
- 20:27don't, even though God can clearly see where we are. We focus on
- 20:33God. Why would I show you what you already know? That's just diminishing
- 20:38me, or that makes me feel bad, or you're too perfect for me
- 20:41to show you or show myself too, Like why would I even put you
- 20:45through that? Like I don't even like myself right now? How would you
- 20:48even like? You know, like things the battles of the mind, And
- 20:52so I think with our relationship or just even we talk, go back to
- 20:57mistrust. It's a mistrust of who I am and a mis under oh,
- 21:03a misunderstanding of who I am too, because if I really understood and trusted
- 21:08what God is doing, then I will understand why the other's capacity level were
- 21:15to the max of what they could offer me in a friendship. You know,
- 21:21that is very powerful. And for our listeners, I want to give
- 21:26you a few things to show you how you can overcome somebody else's doubt.
- 21:32We don't even know they have doubt. Number One, you have to be
- 21:34extremely intentional. It has to be important to you. People don't know how
- 21:40much you know until they know how much you care. That's good. People
- 21:42don't want to know how much you know. They know how much you care,
- 21:45and it shows about how much you care. You have to be intentional.
- 21:48But here's the thing about intentionality. You have to be consistently intentional.
- 21:55That's good. So so by consistently calling every Monday, and watch the is
- 22:00when people doubting you of while you're in their life about if you want something
- 22:04from them. When you consistently called and you finding ways to help them,
- 22:11you're finding ways to serve them. You asking them how you can serve them.
- 22:15Then you get off the phone, they're like, Wow, they really
- 22:17didn't want anything from me. And you have to start asking yourself how many
- 22:22people am I intentionally serving for the betterment of them, not for the betterment
- 22:26of me, for the betterment of them. And the other part to that
- 22:30is if I can be one hundred percent honest with you. Through reading my
- 22:34Bible and getting closer to God and be becoming more intimate, I started to
- 22:40see that Jesus had disciples. He didn't move through on his own. I
- 22:48started to see that Paul didn't travel on his own. I started to see
- 22:52that Moses was able to lean on jet throw sometimes he was able to lean
- 22:56on Aaron. I was able to see that nia Maya glean on the king
- 23:00correct. And I started to ask myself, am I being intentional about building
- 23:06out an inner circle that when I need a calean on that's good? And
- 23:10how do you do that? Do you do that by going and asking them
- 23:12for everything? Or do you do that by serving? And that's why the
- 23:17Bible was the best leadership book in the world, because because by watching nia
- 23:21Maya serve the king, in return, the king gave nia Maya everything he
- 23:25needed to be a king. Because that's the principle of sowing and reaping.
- 23:29Like we try to we try to read from places and me and Coach was
- 23:32just talking about this. We try to reap from places where there's no seed.
- 23:37Oh it's a seed, like it's always a seat. You know what
- 23:38I'm saying. You hadn't even planned to see. You ain't putting nothing in
- 23:41there. You ain't got none in the basket. They put the seed of
- 23:45them in there. You put the seed of you in there moaning something from
- 23:52you that's good, And the problem is you can't produce what you don't have
- 23:59that's good. You can't produce what you don't have, so you have to
- 24:03sew into other people so you can reap that because they can produce things you
- 24:08can't. That's good, right, And so sometimes we're trying so hard to
- 24:15sew for ourselves and not so far. So remember it's a too, it's
- 24:21a two head finger. It's always a seat like either you believe you can't
- 24:23do it, believe you can't. You either planning the seed to help others,
- 24:27or you're planning to see to help yourself. You're planning to see whether
- 24:30the seed good or bad. Is a totally different story. That's good.
- 24:33You are planting a seed. The question is what seed are you planting?
- 24:40That's good, right because when we start it, like you said, so
- 24:44I can, I can. I can keep that fact because once you start
- 24:48watering and growing, you're calling yourself an orange, but it's real an apple,
- 24:51and then I can't even trust you. Yeah, but like you told
- 24:55me, you was an orange, but you're an apple, Like it's different.
- 24:57And then then you know to take it to take it a step further,
- 25:02to take it a step further. Right, a seed cannot cultivate itself.
- 25:08That's good, let's break that down. So so so if I take
- 25:12if I take an apple seed and not put it in the ground, it
- 25:15don't water itself. It don't bring yourself heat. It don't know what's soil
- 25:21to put itself in. So when you only thinking about yourself, you're trying
- 25:26to water yourself, You're trying to figure out what's soire to put yourself in.
- 25:30You're trying to produce things that you can't produce on your own. Nothing
- 25:36produces itself on its own. Everything has a processing. Everything has a process,
- 25:42and you have to follow that process, right. And so it's like
- 25:48what I started to learn one of my superpowers is serving people. And everybody's
- 25:53serving looks different. My serving is through my heart, through my voice,
- 25:59through my mind. Mine that that's the way I'm able to serve and help
- 26:03people. You have to figure out what's your way to serve and how you
- 26:07can add. My written the Leadership Book, and it was talking about leaders
- 26:10have to add value, but you can't add what you don't have. That's
- 26:14good, and I think another point so that we can't compare the level of
- 26:21SERVI to because the way I serve is gonna make room for me and the
- 26:26places where God needs me the most, that's where it's gonna lead to my
- 26:30assignment. I've been in rooms where and I'll be transparent, I've been in
- 26:34places and positions where it's like, well, why they getting to do stuff?
- 26:38But I'm definitely like not like that no more, because I learned,
- 26:41babe, when you when your home, sometimes they don't want him. Okay,
- 26:45sometimes sometimes it look a little different, you know, because when when
- 26:51God literally calls you to serve and he's like, no, this is this
- 26:55is not an option, this is a mandate, and it's like, this
- 26:57is the expectancy to for your next level. This ain't just being nice,
- 27:02This ain't being just I think we talked about this a few weeks ago.
- 27:06This ain't just being helpful to Serving is serving? Like it's a serving is
- 27:10sacrificed that man, Come on, bro, Like serving is sacrificed. If
- 27:14like literally you not you're serving on the note that you're not getting anything back,
- 27:19man, let's go there. You should be serving on the note that
- 27:22you're not getting anything. Yes, Otherwise it's not serving. It's not serving.
- 27:26Let's talk about that for a sick is networking. Let's talk about this
- 27:30for a second. You brought up the Monday cause, right, So I
- 27:36probably call five or six different people every Monday. I know. I thought
- 27:41it's intentional, right, But but here we go about like survy and not
- 27:45expect anything in return. How many how many people you think call me on
- 27:51the random day of the week and ask me how I'm doing? One?
- 27:55See, it's not that many, right, And and the thing and the
- 27:57thing about it, what I'm getting at it is it's not even it's not
- 28:00even me acxing for that. It's literally to point out what you see it,
- 28:04right, Like, that's my time, that's my energy, that's my
- 28:07intellect, that's what God put inside of me. And what people fail to
- 28:11realize is when you ask somebody how they're doing, they genuinely, they genuinely
- 28:14tell you. Depending on what they tell you can actually drain you. Right.
- 28:18So I'm putting myself in a position to be drainking, right and so
- 28:23and so here's the thing that you have to realize. When somebody pour that
- 28:26on you and you have the aptitude to pour into them and fill them up.
- 28:33Well, if you pouring and feel somebody else up, then your level
- 28:37is okay. So so that's why what consumes you grooms you. It's so
- 28:41important because then you got to get back around to the point of how how
- 28:47do you feel somebody else's cup up when your cup is going down? How
- 28:51do you get back to be refeeled without feeling resentment? But that's that's part
- 28:56of that's so powerful because just knowing your story, Greg, it's like you
- 29:00weren't able to do that, Okay, can I can? I? All
- 29:07right? So what I've witnessed with your transition and you developing spiritually, right
- 29:11you guys, Greg is very like I don't know if you can tell or
- 29:17not. And if you're not following him, what is it? I am
- 29:19Greg Riley? I am yeah, I am Greg Raley On Instagram he's posting
- 29:23consistently those nuggets that he drops daily, Like I listened to the Man of
- 29:27God and I'll be like, man, why can't articulate like that? Like
- 29:33it was so influent. It's like, what consumes you groomed you? Like
- 29:36I want to you know, we want to do you know what I'm saying,
- 29:38But like he's highly intelligent. And the reason why he's so intelligent he
- 29:42liked he and he's a reader. Like I won't say he likes to read,
- 29:47because I think your wife got you beat well. She likes to She
- 29:52does love to read. I read to apply. He don't. Just he's
- 29:56not an averag reason like I'm just reading fun. He reads to apply,
- 29:59like you said. But Capricial, baby, she probably on her hundred book
- 30:03for this year, So shout out to CAPRICI. But what I realized is
- 30:10because he is a reader and he appreciates that art and sometimes your intellect us
- 30:22well, let me start over. Sometimes us as believing we have to watch
- 30:25how much intellect we have versus the Holy Spirit. And I've watched him developed
- 30:30a healthy and mature outlook and discipline for understanding this intellect can go only as
- 30:40far as Holy Spirit allows it to. And so I appreciate your development on
- 30:47at first because I can see why probably why I even saw that, because
- 30:51I've been with you for some years now, and so what was this was
- 30:56okay, this was something, this is a good exa album. This was
- 30:57something that I told Greg. He he went to a leadership meeting one time
- 31:04he alright, know a going He went to a leadership meeting one time,
- 31:07and then those leadership meetings kind of last maybe a couple of days, a
- 31:12day and a half or whatnot. And then every time he would come back
- 31:15from these leadership meetings, all of a sudden, it's a let me try
- 31:19this type of thing, like i'ma I'm gonna figure it out. And I
- 31:22made a comment to him to the degree of all of a sudden, like
- 31:26every time you come from these these meetings, that's when you want to do
- 31:30something like and then it lasts for like what not long? And so when
- 31:36I challenged him on that, that challenge, that that that set him like,
- 31:38okay, let me reevaluate. And that's when he was starting to integrate
- 31:44the Word of God more into it and allowed Holy Spirit, which he didn't
- 31:48really understand that that was that was who it was at the time. He
- 31:52allowed all his spirit to start dealing with his intellect. So now you have
- 31:56somebody where because it make books since because rich dad, poor dad said it,
- 32:01or because these other great books, not knocking the books, But now
- 32:07I can apply the intellect based on the Holy Spirit and not because of the
- 32:12need of my greatness not because the need of my Ford movement. And so
- 32:15I've seen you developed from intellect movement to Holy spirit movement. Man, that's
- 32:22powerful. I really appreciate that and I received it, and I think that
- 32:31I think that you know, going through proverbs ring proverbs, and it tells
- 32:37you that basically unapplied knowledge brings pride. Like when you when you're reading and
- 32:43you gain notice intellect which is not applying it, it brings pride. And
- 32:46another piece of this is as a leader that leads people, that develops people,
- 32:54there's a mindset. Coach, I have to live what I speak.
- 33:00What you just you Yeah, I'm a leadership development in mindset. Oh period.
- 33:05So we take it calls, we take it callsactions. So like,
- 33:10what was one of the challenging things when you you know, I know,
- 33:15I know a lot of people go to church and you may you may hear
- 33:19a lot of preachers that preach hope, which is which is very beneficial,
- 33:22right, And if you read your Bible, you would see that that even
- 33:27Jesus spoke in parables, because parables what drew people in. If you went
- 33:30in and just talking about Leviticus five nine said this, he'll probably lose you.
- 33:35So Jesus knew that right. But but what I'm getting at is there's
- 33:38a lot of parts in the Bible that's extremely convicting. And when I started
- 33:44reading about leaders in the Bible and what that looked like, it convicted me.
- 33:49So when you get into Titus and you get into Timothy and it's talking
- 33:52about what a leader looks like, it sa you have to be beyond reproach.
- 33:57That means you have to be blameless. That mean your character has to
- 34:00be in a position where nobody can smear your name. And and if you
- 34:07are leading people and you're not living right outside of your job, you're putting
- 34:14yourself in position for your name to be smeared and for you to be a
- 34:19blame. That's so good and so and so like when you when you really
- 34:23start to understand that concept, it challenges you in so many places and in
- 34:31your in your flesh becomes more recognizable because because if you really accept the calling
- 34:43of leadership, literahire is not a position, it's a calling. If you
- 34:45really accept the call of leadership, you start to understand that leadership is a
- 34:52blessing and a burden. It's a blessing to be able to leave people.
- 34:57But it's a burden because it's extremely difficult to And I heard a podcast where
- 35:01great leader sat this of the day. He said, think about leadership as
- 35:06a boat in the ocean, and when you look at that boat, it
- 35:09leaves like water on two sides. And when leadership, you're gonna leave two
- 35:15wakes. One is people, one is results. If you got great results
- 35:20but your people don't like you, you're not a good leader. If you
- 35:22got great people but you don't have great results, you're still not a great
- 35:24leader. Right, So you have to be able to marry the two.
- 35:29And that's the difficulty. And then the last part of this is it's extremely
- 35:35somebody can go teach leadership, but can you actually do leadership? Listen,
- 35:40like that's that's a whole different can of wine. That is it is.
- 35:45And I want you to kind of break that down because what I've seen you
- 35:50do in nine to five outside of ninety five, like especially inside of matter
- 35:55five when I say flip'll know y'all know them HDDV of cert scenarios where they
- 36:05had his abandoned house and they flip it and make it look like a mansion,
- 36:09and the value go up like twenty two hundred thousand percent. This man
- 36:14right, you got the juice, okay, like bus like people. People
- 36:21really trust him with his business. I have a customer to they's day.
- 36:23I ain't gonna ain't no names out a custo to this day. He literally
- 36:28told me he couldn't make the move that I needed him to make for my
- 36:31business without talking to Greg. I was like, are we serious? But
- 36:37I respect that though, because everybody got their lane and you dominate your lane
- 36:42like had hands down. But can we get into like what that looks like
- 36:46for a leader to be able to be able to produce people, make people
- 36:54I don't even want to say happy, because will make them feel cared for,
- 37:00make them feel like good people, and then also balance the great results
- 37:08the first thing. And anybody that follow me, you go to my page,
- 37:13you will hear me say, that's a lot vision all leaders, you're
- 37:15not a leader with our vision. Moses had a vision, Jesus had a
- 37:21vision, God had a vision, and your many you had a vision,
- 37:23Paul had a vision. Find me a leader that didn't have a vision.
- 37:27I challenge you find any organization, any church, any gang that does not
- 37:32have a vision, any school, I challenge you with our vision, people
- 37:37will perish. That's Bible. So first thing first is you you have to
- 37:43have a vision, and then from their vision, you gotta develop your goals.
- 37:46So a vision, your GPA's goals is the high way to get you
- 37:50there, right, and they have to be clear, So you have to
- 37:52produce clarity within the vision and within the goals. Then you have to understand
- 37:58why are we trying to achieve this? So now that's the mission, right,
- 38:01And then we get into the core values. And so with core values,
- 38:06it's a framework for core values. As a leader, what are your
- 38:09core values? Can you articulate them? And are you living them? That's
- 38:14good? So so when your team see you, can they tell you,
- 38:16oh, yeah, these are this person's core values because I see them do
- 38:20it every day now I see them talk about it. And then, last,
- 38:22but not least, confidence, Are you confident enough in your vision?
- 38:28Do you believe enough in your vision that even if your team do not believe
- 38:31that, they are willing to borrow some of your confidence to achieve the vision.
- 38:37Because when you first walk into this situation, they don't know you,
- 38:40they don't and then they probably don't want to be there. So it's a
- 38:45it's a level of I don't think this can happen, and it's a lot
- 38:49to go into it. But so we got vision, mission core values right,
- 38:54and then I want to make sure. I want to make sure in
- 38:58confidence. So got vision, Mission core values, Confidence. I'm gonna give
- 39:04you two more, and I'm gonna give you a lot of steff and give
- 39:06you two more empathy and listening. That's good. Like you have to go
- 39:10in and be empathetic to the situation at hand, because it's people in there,
- 39:15not robots. So you have to go in there and be empathetic,
- 39:19and you have to listen. And once you go in and be empathetic and
- 39:22you listen, you get them the vision. And now you sit down and
- 39:27you ask them, so, what are your goals? What's important to you?
- 39:29Where you want to be? You make it about them. When I
- 39:32go into these situations, I make it about them. I don't make it
- 39:35about me, because, like I tell them, I was good for what
- 39:38I came, I can be good when I leave. That's like, I
- 39:42know how to do this and I'm gonna be successful with this. But it
- 39:45ain't about me, It's about you. I want to get you promoted where
- 39:50you want to be, What do you want? What do you want to
- 39:52provide for your family? How can I best help you? So let me
- 39:57let me ask you this with the sig so, one of your quotes is
- 40:04as a leader, it may not be your fault, but it's your responsibility.
- 40:08That's my mentor quote. I don't want to still it be oh okay,
- 40:10shout out to your mentor, but you said so. But with that
- 40:19quote, and what I think about without leadership and a person that's developing in
- 40:23their own own leadership, what do you say to the person that has feel
- 40:28like they've exhausted all measures with a team member or somebody that they're working with,
- 40:35and how much I know it's our responsibility, but how do they manage
- 40:39that without feeling defeated? So normally when this happens, it's a couple of
- 40:46things. Normally it's a miscommunication and that employee may not understand what you communicate,
- 40:55and the leader probably can do a good job of hearing with the employee.
- 41:00Really was saying because because like we have to be honest with ourselves,
- 41:05right, Like if you ask somebody a questions, they not gonna tell you
- 41:08everything. So you got to hear what they're saying, but you got to
- 41:12hear what they are saying, and you got to meet them there. So
- 41:15now it's a challenge because okay, so now we have to And I think
- 41:21this is a perfect perfect question for kingdom entrepreneurs and creators because we're not we're
- 41:29not just kingdom entrepreneurs and creators for ourselves, like whether we lead at a
- 41:32nine to five where we lead in our own entities. I think it's important
- 41:37to realize we can't. For one, we can't run away from the assignments
- 41:43of God because we're gonna get that assignment again in a new form, like
- 41:45I've learned that the hard way, and so like even with that being said,
- 41:50even being able to listen properly and at active active listening, because sometimes
- 41:55we just say, okay, let me check like we were talking about earlier,
- 41:58check this off the list. I think it's important to understand when we
- 42:01when we're not just entrepreneurs, we're not just creatives, but we are kingdom
- 42:07creators and kingdom entrepreneurs. That means we have kingdom before everything. So we
- 42:13have to go back to our kingdom routs, right, we have to go
- 42:15back to our kingdom territories. We have to go back to our kingdom upbringing
- 42:21without being like all hyper spiritual about it. So now as a leader,
- 42:25I think it's challenging as a kingdom leader, I think it's challenging us to
- 42:30say, okay, am my, what ear am I listening with? And
- 42:34I tell you something else too, Like I really skipped a big part in
- 42:38all of this, And viewers, I please forgive me. You cannot develop
- 42:45someone if you have not developed yourself. That's good and so and so the
- 42:51real shift in all of these is your self development. Like, that's the
- 42:57real shift. You're not going to be able to have that empathy because you
- 43:01haven't developed the ability to have that empathy. You haven't set with yourself enough
- 43:07to be okay to hear what you're doing is not working without becoming offended.
- 43:12Wow, Because you think you are doing everything right and you think they are
- 43:17doing everything wrong. So you still in a place where you think they the
- 43:22problem. You're not in a position where you can actually acknowledge the fact that
- 43:27you may have messed up too, and some breakdown in your leadership may actually
- 43:31lead to their breakdown as well. Yes, it's not all your fault,
- 43:36but it's still your responsibility. But as a leader, have you taken the
- 43:39time to develop to it When your team come at you and it may not
- 43:44sound the way you wanted to, Are you able to eat the meat and
- 43:49spit out the bones or do you take everything they say it's the meat and
- 43:52you just eat it and you put it inside of you and now you become
- 43:55extremely offended. Right, So that's what makes leadership so tough, because because
- 44:04you have to develop in a way where you can receive what they are saying
- 44:12to be able to even hear yea with any ear to be to be an
- 44:16effective leader. Because sometimes what happens is we ask a question, but we
- 44:22got a predetermined answer in our minds, and so by the time they answer,
- 44:28we already coming back with a response because we already knew what we wanted
- 44:32to say regardless of their answer. That's so good and I think, I
- 44:37think also to that point because we got to keep kingdom in there because our
- 44:45mindset should be different. Right, So if we're doing if we're doing the
- 44:49work we're that some people call it supping with the Lord. If we're if
- 44:53we're having our devotional time, if we're having a quiet space with God,
- 44:58God and already dealt with us in your life about with somebody telling us it
- 45:02just it just hurts when we ain't dealt with with the Lord first, exactly
- 45:07because you got to sit with yourself. And it goes back to what you
- 45:09said earlier about the grace. And what I want to ask you is why
- 45:14you don't feel you have the space to give yourself grace? H That is
- 45:22a good question. Why do I feel like I don't have the space to
- 45:27give myself grace? You know what? I think that it goes back to
- 45:37the people thing. But I also think that how can I say this?
- 45:47So when we make covenants, we make covenants with ourselves like I'll never do
- 45:55this, I'll never do that, I'll like for someone women, I'll never
- 46:00allow on a man, I'll never X, Y and Z, and we
- 46:05never never never, never never in. And then once we break that covenant,
- 46:08now we diminish ourselves. Now we feel like we're you know, unusable.
- 46:16That's so good, like we're waste. And so I think that because
- 46:22I can remember what I've done, what I've been through my that's so good.
- 46:31The memory and the release of certain things or the lack of the thereof
- 46:37of the release could tear down the bit of availability of the self grace.
- 46:45And so I think that the training that I've had and this and this is
- 46:53this is I'm about to tap into something that I'm thinking about. So even
- 46:58if you're if you're pa parent, if you are a leader, but especially
- 47:02a parent, because that's our first sign of leadership, right, that's the
- 47:06first leadership what we experienced. We have to be mindful of how we teach
- 47:10our children to deal with monumental moments, whether good or bad, but especially
- 47:22the bad ones or especially the ones that afflict us. Right. Why I
- 47:27say that is because I'm not saying that I was taught wrong or anything like
- 47:32that. But I'm sensing this is what I'm saying, He's not dealing with
- 47:36this with me right now, but I'm sensing once I get to the root
- 47:39of why I don't have grace with myself, it's something that I felt like
- 47:45my father or my mother didn't forgive me for and so they made they say
- 47:49I should feel bad for it. Taping man Lisen, what you're saying is
- 47:55extremely powerful. And I had this revelation that the trauma in our life brings
- 48:01to drama in our life. That's so good. And what I started to
- 48:07what God made me see trauma as is if we had so water, If
- 48:13you have a leak in your roof, right, water finds any space that
- 48:17has air. That's so good. Right. So if I have a leaky
- 48:22roof and it started leaking, let's just say five years ago, and it
- 48:24leaks every day for five years. Now, the first couple of years,
- 48:30I may not even know that it's leaking because I can't see it. But
- 48:32over time it may be a brown spot. Then the water gets heavier and
- 48:37heavier and the roof fall in. That's trauma. So the trauma that was
- 48:42inflicted upon you at five, six, seven, eight years old is dripping.
- 48:46And now you thirty, you twenty five, you twenty six, you
- 48:51thirty seven. That trauma been dripping for twenty five years. So at some
- 48:54point the trigger gonna come up and the roof gonna fall in, right,
- 48:59and now you're trying to figure out why you're know how to deal with this
- 49:01was because you have you have undealt with trauma that's now causing their drama.
- 49:07And that leaky bucket is now that leaky roof has not falling in, and
- 49:12now you gotta go back and replace the whole roof. And I think,
- 49:15I think that is where we have to to start the topic of going to
- 49:21therapy. We got we got to get out this taboo mindset that we can
- 49:23handle ourselves. That's what we do therapy. We may get a life coach,
- 49:29we talked our pastor we do all these things because it's so and it
- 49:35is so much to go into it. You know, I can't say that
- 49:39my evolution was all me. I can't say that I did this on my
- 49:45own, if I'm being completely honest with you. My wife had a huge
- 49:49rollingness because the man that I was I could not remain. So I had
- 49:55to transform into a different version of me until more revolutionized more modern version of
- 50:04me for what she needed to create safe spaces that she needed. And what
- 50:09that did was that made me get closer to God because I understood that I
- 50:15could not do this on my own. I understand that I cannot handle this
- 50:21marriage on my own. I cannot run this on my own. My flesh
- 50:24is not strong enough. And so through that evolution, right, well,
- 50:30it's why it's so important about what you read, what you listen to who
- 50:35you around and who you trust is so important because that evolution that can't through
- 50:38my marriage pours out into my job. It pours out into my leadership at
- 50:44work. Because how I live at home and how I'm a leader at home,
- 50:49I can now transfer some of them same principles to work and vice versa,
- 50:53because because I am looking to live a certain way, because I am
- 50:58a leadership position, and the last thing you want to do is be saying
- 51:02one thing, so it keeps so it challenges you to keep growing. And
- 51:08so what I would say is what I would say is I would like to
- 51:14see people take on that challenge and stop being afraid. I was in therapy
- 51:19for about a year. I'm in life coaching right now. Like I have
- 51:22a life coach that I meet with every Sunday. Right I'm being very intentional
- 51:29about building out in a circle that I can lean on, the people that
- 51:32I can talk to. One of the things that was extremely difficult for me
- 51:36to ask for help. Yeah, you know that, I know, right,
- 51:40And I tell you I asked you that question about space and grace because
- 51:45that was one of my biggest struggles for the first up teen years of my
- 51:47life. I am extremely ambitious, but my number one self sabotaged is hyperachieving.
- 51:57So now my greatest strength can become my great weekns. Yeah right,
- 52:01And it's like I'm so ambitious that when I don't achieve this impossible goal,
- 52:08I feel like a failure. Well, I had to start extending myself grace
- 52:15so I wouldn't stay in that position. Yeah, because what grace allows you
- 52:20to do is almost thank you, Holy Spirit. When I say thank you,
- 52:23Holy Spirit, I'm not apologetic about it because when things just drop in
- 52:28your mind like you got, you gotta say thank you because it could have
- 52:30dropped in anybody else man for one, And to the fact that he would
- 52:34share knowledge with you, like it's it's so powerful. So I literally just
- 52:38saw, like it's interesting that we keep using water right water, And what
- 52:46I what I'm seeing right now is like you jumping into an area where you
- 52:54see no nothing that could save you, right, Like you're thinking that you
- 52:59can swim, but then once you drown one time, you're afraid to go
- 53:02back deep. So Grace is that that life jacket. Grace is that place
- 53:07to where you can get back to shore. Grace is that place where you
- 53:09can say, okay, let me get myself back together, and I can
- 53:13try again. Almost start listen, because I have to remember the platform,
- 53:22because if I was on another platform, I would have started speaking in another
- 53:25another language. Okay, but grace is that life jacket to take you the
- 53:30shore so you can catch your breath and try again. Grace does not allow
- 53:37you to stay put. It does not make you settle in a place to
- 53:40where you say, okay, Grace got me out of it. I'm not
- 53:45gonna try to swim again. No grace says okay, let me, let's
- 53:49put this life jacket on. Let me let me be the life say it.
- 53:52Let me swim out to you. Let me get you the shore,
- 53:53catch your breath, you know what to do. You might have bumped your
- 53:57head on the rock. You might hopefully you up your hand on the rock,
- 54:00but you might have done something that has set you back or made you
- 54:05even start over, or made you lean on the rock that you that you
- 54:08bumped your hand on, whatever that looks like. It's grace allows you to
- 54:13catch your breath so you can continue to swim, so you can continue to
- 54:16practice your strokes, so you can continue to meet the next get it to
- 54:21the next destination or make us get to the gold that you're trying to meet.
- 54:25Sometimes we use grace as a crutch to not do Sometimes we can use
- 54:30grace and say, oh I got I got grace here, so I'm just
- 54:34scared to do this again, or grace here so I'm just gonna keep messing
- 54:37up in this area, or grace, I'm gonna use grace as a crutch.
- 54:40And that's not what grace is to get put set us back afoot to
- 54:45where God wants us to be. M I want to ask some dealth.
- 54:49Let's go be talking about water. Let's go deep, Go deep. I
- 54:52pulled up the biblical definition of grace. I'm glad you did it. God's
- 54:57grace is usually defined as un deserved favor. Grace cannot be ironed. It
- 55:06is freely given. It's one of the promises that come along with believing in
- 55:09God. We don't earn grace. He freely gives us grace. Say that
- 55:15last part again, is one of the promises that would that we are given
- 55:17by God if we believe, if we believe, if we believe, because
- 55:22grace, you cannot earn grace. He gives you grace. So so even
- 55:29in the time where you feel you are feeling, give yourself some undeserved favor.
- 55:34Mm hmm, give yourself. It's hard for a doer, though,
- 55:39and that's coming from a doer. That's that's hard for a doer. Like
- 55:43when I my I'm a doer and I execute and then I execute wrong and
- 55:47I fail? Why do I deserve grace with it? Because what and at
- 55:52this I understand that from what I'm talking about from a physical standpoint, why
- 55:57I deserve? Make it practical? Why do I deserve when I'm a doer
- 56:00and that's what I identify as. When I'm the doer and I mess up,
- 56:05When I'm the doer and it's not working and I'm feeling in an area,
- 56:09why do I deserve to give myself grace for something that I'm I'm not
- 56:15executed, Like I struggle with that just being a doer, Like, how
- 56:22do I give myself grace? There? Let me give you this question,
- 56:24answer this, feel me, how does it work for you in that area
- 56:28when you don't give yourself grace? You just came for my need. I
- 56:34just want to know, like, how does it work when you don't give
- 56:36yourself grace? You did do you do you become a better executor? Do
- 56:39you become a better doer? I just I just you just said that grace
- 56:44is this float that gives us this device to pull us up, so juggler,
- 56:47So I just want to know, like, when you in that situation
- 56:53and you are not giving yourself grace, how are you taking that floating?
- 56:58How are you resetting so you can hand execute? Because when our car get
- 57:02into an accident, we take it to the body shop to get it fixed.
- 57:07How are you putting yourself in a position to get you to get to
- 57:08get fixed so you can you can rearrange some things to get back on the
- 57:13road. If you're not giving yourself the grace, that's why it's undeserved,
- 57:15favored. Nobody said you deserve the grace. Mh, you have to.
- 57:20That's why definition is so important. Yeah, that's why definition is so important.
- 57:23Like it's hard for you to give yourself there grace because you think you
- 57:27deserve it. It's undeserving, Like it's undeserved. What you just said,
- 57:34there's a ray you said, you just have to receive it. So now
- 57:37I'm telling myself that I can only receive what I do deserve so that's another
- 57:43thing. So if you okay, So if you everything I feel like operates
- 57:47in a pattern, right, and so when you see in one area that
- 57:52you don't do or receive, it's a consistency. And so now it's like,
- 57:57okay, that's why it makes sense. The other day I had to
- 58:00tell when I was I was seeking, y'all. Oh, I was seeking
- 58:02as a doll, and the Holy Spirit made me receive an instacart blessing from
- 58:08somebody I literally just met, like not too long ago, maybe a few
- 58:13months, literally just met the woman to God, and she was persistent about,
- 58:17you know, hey, if you need anything, I'm not I don't
- 58:21even live here. I don't I'm not only live by you. But what
- 58:23I can do is utilize the tools to get you instacart. So I was
- 58:28like, no, it's okay, you know, I'm good. I mean
- 58:30I'm not good, but I'm good. Like I'm good. The Holy Spirit
- 58:35was like, it's okay to receive from and I was like, you know
- 58:37what, so I have to practice receiving. So as I practiced receiving,
- 58:43shit, as I practice receiving, because it's practice, right, If I
- 58:50practice receiving, then I can receive the greater things right, and that I
- 58:54felt like that was major for me because you know that was groceries, like
- 59:00you know I'm saying, and then it's also a pride thing. It's like,
- 59:04I don't want nobody think I don't have nothing. You know what I'm
- 59:06saying, Like you have to break that. I don't want nobody think I'm
- 59:08broke. If we tap into that, if we tap, listen, let's
- 59:14tap because I think I think they safe way perfectly to my next just ask
- 59:17questions, Oh do we got another question? So when we when we say,
- 59:22when you said, I don't want nobody to think I'm broke, let's
- 59:27tap into that. How does how does two things? Well, I mus
- 59:32start one. Then we're gonna go to let me get some it's gonna be
- 59:37deep. How does comparison? How do you feel comparison hinders our growth because
- 59:52it allows me to be in your lane more than it allows me to be
- 59:54in mind Because if I'm focused on what you're doing, then I can't focus
- 59:58on what God wants me to do. What do you think leads to that?
- 1:00:02What do you think leads to focusing so much on what somebody else doing
- 1:00:08that I ignore the aptitude and the gifts that God has bestowed upon me.
- 1:00:15M what do I think that leads to it? What do you think?
- 1:00:22Like? How do you think we get there? Like? Why why am
- 1:00:27I focused more on you than I am on me? Like how do we
- 1:00:29even get to that point? What leads to that? Because I'm more believerd
- 1:00:34somettimes I can believe in you more I believe in myself. So and the
- 1:00:39way I do that, the way that's done is because, like you say,
- 1:00:43lack of company, it's left Like I said, for me, words
- 1:00:46of affirmation whatever. I rely probably too much on what people say about me,
- 1:00:51you know, and so if I'm hearing it or it sounds better and
- 1:00:54I'm not getting it, was like, well, just because and that's something
- 1:00:58I've had to be delivered from. Just because Desiree might get a shout out
- 1:01:02for like, oh she take good pictures. Girl, you don't even take
- 1:01:05pictures, Like you're not a photographer. Like you might have an eye for
- 1:01:08a good quality stuff, but you don't do live sit up like I literally
- 1:01:13have had to not to because this is my girl, baby, I ain't
- 1:01:16trying to be in her lane. I've done a great job at staying in
- 1:01:21my lane about this podcast. But back in the day, I had,
- 1:01:25you know, an issue where you know, and I think, if I
- 1:01:30can think about it, I think that might even come from high school a
- 1:01:32little bit. Just me and Kendall talked about this, you know, under
- 1:01:37when you don't now hindsight, because I understand my level of calling and her
- 1:01:43level of calling and the impact that she had. The Lord was trying to
- 1:01:46show us, Okay, she's gonna be amongst peers, She's gonna be heavily
- 1:01:52amongst peers. I'm gonna be heavily amongst leaders. But they understand that.
- 1:01:55I just understood that I wasn't liked by my peers. So I'm comparing the
- 1:02:00love of love and affection and the and not to say Kendall was in loved
- 1:02:05by leaders, like leaders loved her. But she was like, oh,
- 1:02:07Dad, I always like you and and you favored this. And then I'm
- 1:02:13like, I don't see that, Like I really begive giving these folks the
- 1:02:16business. I remember one of my one of my English teachers, I gave
- 1:02:22him a business about the grade that he gave me. I challenged his decision
- 1:02:27on this, like I've been like this so it's like when I didn't just
- 1:02:31appreciate that, So there's a lack of appreciation for where I am right and
- 1:02:37thinking that God gave somebody a better gift or better calling or better annoyting,
- 1:02:44not realizing that there was a development piece to everybody. So if I stayed
- 1:02:47in my lane and I allowed myself to be developed in that place, then
- 1:02:51there would be nothing to compare it to because I'm not I don't do what
- 1:02:53you do. I'm not called to where you call. And even if you're
- 1:02:58in a quote unquote lane that I'm in, Like let's talk about speaking,
- 1:03:01let's talk about ministry, let's talk about marketplace, let's talk about the creative
- 1:03:05space. There's still a voice and a people, a people that are attached
- 1:03:09to my DNA, so I don't have to compete. That's good. So
- 1:03:16this is good. This is good. I got another follow up, you
- 1:03:20know before you go on there. Whilere we talking about that, the world
- 1:03:22is literally like he's been delivering is people, pleasing the fear of man.
- 1:03:28He's literally been delivering me and healing me through that, through that process,
- 1:03:34and sometimes you don't realize where you are or how far you've come until you've
- 1:03:38been presented with the situation. Right. So I was somewhere and I was
- 1:03:42on a team of photographers. It was like two of us, and the
- 1:03:47person who was holding the gathering had mentioned about another something we do recurringly,
- 1:03:52and the person who had brought us in to do the pictures was like,
- 1:03:58oh, yeah, we got an event coming up that and they called the
- 1:04:00other ladies young the other young lady's name, like, oh yeah, make
- 1:04:03sure you know you get da da da da da, And so the the
- 1:04:08the broken person automatically almost started rising up like, well, dang, we
- 1:04:12a team, wa Wayne, call my name. My stuff ain't good enough
- 1:04:15to catch X, Y and Z. That's what I heard, right,
- 1:04:16That was that's what I heard. But the heal of me was like,
- 1:04:18yeah, no, that ain't even what that is. Like, both of
- 1:04:23you are very gifted. Both of you have different and this is this is
- 1:04:26truth, like we have different styles of shooting and things of that nature.
- 1:04:29They weren't saying you weren't good enough, right, They literally just look because
- 1:04:31that's what they saw at the moment. That that's that part at the moment.
- 1:04:38Enough so when people don't call on us, we think they were not
- 1:04:41good. And then it's like, girl, do you really want to be
- 1:04:44burnt out? Like do you really? Do you? Do you really want
- 1:04:47to do everything? Like that we got to act. Do you really want
- 1:04:50to do everything? So now you're trying to be God. Now you're trying
- 1:04:55to be the creative God. Now you're trying to be the entrepreneur God.
- 1:04:57Now you're trying to be marketplace God. Now you're trying to be ministry Like
- 1:05:00it says you shall have no gods before me. That it makes it very
- 1:05:04clear in that. So that's why the wages watch is the wages of sin
- 1:05:09is death. I feel my help coming. The wages of sin is death.
- 1:05:13So the wages of me, of me trying to be a dominant figure
- 1:05:17in an area, trying to do everything is see the sin or the way.
- 1:05:23The wage for that is comparison. And so now I'm dealing with comparison
- 1:05:28because what I paid for because you get a payment, like you get your
- 1:05:32reward for your payment for the I don't say reward, but you get a
- 1:05:35result from from what you put into. So if I'm putting into, like
- 1:05:40I gotta do everything, I gotta be this dude, I gotta keep motivate.
- 1:05:42I gotta do. Then, now my energy and my assets have gone
- 1:05:46into a place where now I'm having comparison and rejection issues. Let's let's go
- 1:05:53there. So with this comparison, when we when we think about comparison and
- 1:05:58we think about being in other people lanes, do you think this leads to
- 1:06:02imposter syndrome? Oh? It does? It does? It does? Bad?
- 1:06:08Before we get into that, explain the poster syndrome for the people.
- 1:06:12Well, just I'm going to let you explain imposta syndrome because you were in
- 1:06:15school for this and you probably did a paper on it or something. No
- 1:06:18I want No, I haven't. I haven't done a paper for I think
- 1:06:25I want you to explain it because you're more eloquent in soul in this area.
- 1:06:29So what I know to be in posta syndrome is you posing to be
- 1:06:34somebody you're not right in your mind, in your mind. And I haven't
- 1:06:41dug too deep an imposter syndrome to look up definitions and really take a deep
- 1:06:45dive. But my interpretation would be that's why I brought it up with a
- 1:06:50comparison thing. If I'm comparing Okay, desire had a perfect example with the
- 1:06:55photos, right, if I'm comparing that they chose her because I think she's
- 1:07:00better than me. Now I'm gonna start trying to shoot the way she shooting.
- 1:07:03That's good. So now I'm trying to be her instead of being me.
- 1:07:09Yeah, that's trick of to DEVI and watch this so a practical awareness
- 1:07:13piece that the Holy Spirit just dropped in my head. If we start off
- 1:07:16statements as am I really this feeling blank? So if you're saying, am
- 1:07:21I really good? Am I? Am I really a good photographer? Am
- 1:07:25I really good hairstylist? Am I a really a good writer? Then you're
- 1:07:30you probably deal with the imposter syndrome. If you're questioning your ability to do
- 1:07:34something when you actually do it, that that is a sign, a simpler
- 1:07:41sign of the imposter syndrome. And the what it does is the enemy gets
- 1:07:45into your mindset and say you're performing, but it's like you ain't really doing
- 1:07:50this you finishing it? Are you using chat GPT? Are you using like
- 1:07:55for one Jackie Jack GPT helps the efficiency or something. Y'all y'all gonna use
- 1:08:00that TVT because he helped me on a website the other day. But just
- 1:08:04because you're using the tools and what's what God has allowed man to create on
- 1:08:10certain sins like the website. I remember old uh uh. In the old
- 1:08:14and older days when I was growing up, they was like, oh the
- 1:08:16internet bad, the Internet bad. No, the internet is not bad.
- 1:08:19What some men have placed on the Internet is vulgar and manipulative of and bad
- 1:08:26that the use of it can be bad. But the actual Internet is not
- 1:08:30bad. It's a resource. And so sometimes the enemy could act like you're
- 1:08:34not a good resource because the things that we've done, the places that we
- 1:08:39the things that we've experienced, places we've gone, the the the caves we've
- 1:08:44hit in hitting in come on, I think that was a prophetly lodger that
- 1:08:46went heat in the cave like they they he can really think take us back
- 1:08:51to our darkest place and say you really not there. You really is like
- 1:08:56even though you are producing and you're producing, well you're really not that you're
- 1:09:00this and this is why. No, And the greatest part is great the
- 1:09:04negro don't even give us or why. He just say no, you really
- 1:09:08did, and just reason plays it in our memory. You know that is
- 1:09:13that is extremely powerful because sometimes you can be producing fruit from a treat.
- 1:09:18It's not even yours. You're producing in the lane you don't supposed to supposed
- 1:09:26to be in. You think that just because you're producing, that it's good
- 1:09:31for you. And some people don't understand that the devil can help you produce
- 1:09:35too, and so and so sometimes you got to ask yourself, what's your
- 1:09:42motive behind why you want to produce? Because God is after your heart and
- 1:09:47your mind and so and so we have to get down to that motive of
- 1:09:53why we're producing and what we're really doing this for, and then you could
- 1:09:57begin to understand who you're producing. Four and a lot of times we produce
- 1:10:01because it's self soothing. And I mean we're innately selfish as humans. Right
- 1:10:08when you think about a baby, and you think about a two three year
- 1:10:11old and you get them a toy and take it away, it is no,
- 1:10:13it's mine. They start crying. Well, you have adults, it's
- 1:10:15the same way. The toys just change as we get older. Greg,
- 1:10:20I promise you this Mike stands forn to just fly across. I'm just saying,
- 1:10:25like the toys just change as we get older, and sometimes the toys
- 1:10:30become people. We become possessive over certain people, and when those people leave
- 1:10:33our life, we cry like a baby. Okay, we can't go into
- 1:10:35that. Okay, we can't go Well, I just I just want to
- 1:10:41What I really want to get across here is is that that imposter syndrome is
- 1:10:46the trick of the devil, and they will have you in the lane producing
- 1:10:50and still feeling empty because you didn't supposed to be there. Nowhay, whoa
- 1:10:57whoa and so and so and so comparison is the thief of joy. You
- 1:11:02compared yourself so much, and you studied somebody to where you became the carbon
- 1:11:08copy and you followed the playbook when you were supposed to be the blueprint.
- 1:11:14Greg, I'm sorry that was probably so loud. Greg, Okay, okay,
- 1:11:20I'm trying to Greg. You just said something so powerful because this is
- 1:11:29the this is space to talk about that. Because being a creative, when
- 1:11:32we think about creation, the Lord literally took he was the first creative and
- 1:11:42made everything. No, I want you to break it down. He literally
- 1:11:45took nothing and made it everything. He literally took an attribute, which is
- 1:11:51love. And I want you to think about it because if you go back
- 1:11:56to the first, you go back to the first you look at the you
- 1:12:00look at the Word, and you see where the relationship of the Trinity,
- 1:12:03which is God, God, the Father, got the Son and the Holy
- 1:12:06Spirit. So you looking at this and out they loved each other so much
- 1:12:13that they wanted to create. So creators have the strong ability to love.
- 1:12:20So you're thinking, oh, I don't know what has coming from. Thank
- 1:12:24you. I do know where's coming from. Thank you Lord. When we
- 1:12:27when we people try to say you're selfish, or that you have the inability
- 1:12:31to love and produce, or that's a lie, because literally, the Trinity
- 1:12:35showed us that because we love so much that we have the ability to create.
- 1:12:42That's what creation, That's how creation was started. That's that's number one
- 1:12:45thing. But the fact that God was able to take take a void and
- 1:12:51make it just like appeer like that is so profound. And when we're told
- 1:12:59the I that we're we're not able to do that, that that makes us
- 1:13:05feel like imposters too. That that really that really makes us feel like it
- 1:13:10impossible. I had another point. Yeah, I ain't gonna lie because it
- 1:13:13was in my head, but I started started thinking about some other stuff.
- 1:13:15But we have to really think and take things back to the word. That's
- 1:13:18why it's important to take things back to the word, back to to what
- 1:13:26God says about about it. And so what what was your last point?
- 1:13:29That's what I gotta get my point. Let's go ahead. I'm gonna give
- 1:13:31you. I'm gonna give you this to chew on. This is gonna probably
- 1:13:33help your point. Jesus was the blueprint. That's where I was going.
- 1:13:40That's that's where I was going. So now when we think about the blueprint,
- 1:13:44that's the word I was looking for. Thank you. So now when
- 1:13:46we think about the blueprint, as creatives in a creative space, we battle
- 1:13:51with because everybody else is not doing it? Should we? But we're called
- 1:13:59to create. We have to think about the creator started with the void from
- 1:14:04nothing. But here's the other piece of that. Right. I had to
- 1:14:11grapple with this and we might have spoken about this on the last podcast.
- 1:14:14The same day you plant the seed, not the same day you eat the
- 1:14:16fruit. Correct. And what you start to see is that some of the
- 1:14:23promises in the Bible that we made the Abraham then become fully realized until Jesus
- 1:14:29died on the cross. Correct. So to your point about the space and
- 1:14:34being a creator. Sometimes you have to be okay with being the person that
- 1:14:41it may not pop for You may be the seed that plant that and put
- 1:14:45it in the world. Somebody else we may take it and run with it
- 1:14:49and blow it up. But can you be okay with letting somebody else stand
- 1:14:54on your shoulders and you don't get the glory? And so that's where you
- 1:14:57have to start to kill their flesh. That's what it devil get on you,
- 1:15:00the imposter syndrome, and that's when you start running somebody else land with
- 1:15:03the playbook and without the blueprints. But that's also understanding who you are.
- 1:15:08That comes with identity, like a builder. A builder doesn't necessarily mean you
- 1:15:12build it and you hold on to it. A builder, you build it.
- 1:15:15You may lay you may lay a few foundational pieces here, but then
- 1:15:18you may you have to move on. You utilize the team, You utilize
- 1:15:21restraint team, come in and get busy. Listen Jones, try out to
- 1:15:28Jones Global, Richard don't Richard don't construct nothing. That's why I think that's
- 1:15:36so amazing about his business in particular, like being able to be in the
- 1:15:40transportation industry, like I get that we get an opportunity to talk to some
- 1:15:45amazing people and talking to Jones like, well, I'm understanding he contract everything.
- 1:15:49Why because he is the visionary. The visionary, it's already hard to
- 1:15:57be able to explain what you see. So you think that God gonna give
- 1:16:00you the burden of actually having to execute all of that. Oh, this
- 1:16:04is so good. Think about Solomon David. David would talk about a tabernacle
- 1:16:11or temple. I think it's which want fact check me on that, but
- 1:16:15we would talk about we gonna just call it a building. But he would
- 1:16:17talk about creating this space for God. I think it was a tabernac if
- 1:16:20I'm not mistaken. And he had very detailed instructions on how he wanted.
- 1:16:26Well, David died, but because David was wise enough to share his vision,
- 1:16:31Solomon was the executor of the vision. And this is part of legacy.
- 1:16:36That's part of what we missed in legacy building. That's why we continuously
- 1:16:41have broken generations of lack of wealth and lack of financial of financial stability.
- 1:16:49Thank you, lack of knowledge. Because we see stuff, but we think
- 1:16:56we got to execute it and execute it then, So now it's the Okay,
- 1:16:59God, when I see something, when did this happen? Who do
- 1:17:01I need to share it with? It's all about proper strategizing, because if
- 1:17:05David never shared his vision with Solomon or even whoever he shared it with,
- 1:17:12Solomon wouldn't have been able to pick up that vision and run. What's the
- 1:17:15scripture that says, write the vision and make it, make it play so
- 1:17:19that they can run with it? Right? I never we stick on that
- 1:17:26write the vision, make it playing. That's so selfish, that's so selfish
- 1:17:30of just keep saying, right the vision, make it plain. Because there
- 1:17:31is a day that's attached to your vision. I'm about to go to church,
- 1:17:42but it's a day that's attached to your vision. So you're discrediting the
- 1:17:46work that they have to do. They need the visionary. The visionary is
- 1:17:53needed not to perform, but to supply what's needed for the execution. And
- 1:18:00just created the person you have to become to be able to put people in
- 1:18:03position to execute the vision. That because because you have to become the person
- 1:18:13that can put the people in position to execute the vision. And so and
- 1:18:17so just as we as we as we wrap up, I'm sorry, I
- 1:18:23just I just looked it up. Two and two, it says, And
- 1:18:30the Lord answered me and said, write the vision and make it plain upon
- 1:18:36tablets that he may run that readeth it. For the vision is yet for
- 1:18:43an appointed time. But at the end it shall speak and not lie.
- 1:18:47Though it terry, wait for it, because it will surely come and will
- 1:18:51not terry. That's so good. Let's uh, before we wrap up,
- 1:18:58we're gonna do a different close held Wait. Before we were at we're talked
- 1:19:01about vision. You know, you literally asked me, how do I go
- 1:19:04in and do what I do? What's the first thing I told you?
- 1:19:10You know, as a leader, you have to have vision, and you
- 1:19:14have to have the ability to get people to buy into your vision. And
- 1:19:17as a leader, not only do you have to have vision, you have
- 1:19:21to be convicted by your vision. You have to be convicted by your vision
- 1:19:28that you believe in your vision relentlessly, because you know where your vision came
- 1:19:31from. You have to be passionate about your vision. You have to understand
- 1:19:38your purpose within that vision. So they can't be willing to run with it
- 1:19:45because because you got a vision, I mean I'm gonna take off running.
- 1:19:46I'm sorry if somebody take off, running out of community. I'm taking all
- 1:19:54ready to because somebody so it's like it's like you have to you have to
- 1:20:00really think about what that what that Bob verse saying, Write it down,
- 1:20:02make it play on tablets so somebody can see it being work with it,
- 1:20:05run with it. But what conviction do you have behind their vision? What's
- 1:20:10the purpose of their vision? What is their vision accomplishing? When we go
- 1:20:14to the book in the Amaya and we see him get the vision to rebuild
- 1:20:16Jerusalem, he went and made that vision important to everybody else. He went
- 1:20:21and showed them the value of them being a part of that vision. He
- 1:20:26showed them the they And one of the things I do not want to miss
- 1:20:30here, and I want to make sure I get this out because it's something
- 1:20:32that I most definitely struggle with. When you get the vision, when you
- 1:20:36make it plain, when God put the pieces together and you ask keep the
- 1:20:40vision, don't forget to celebrate that. Wow, that's good. That's something
- 1:20:45I struggle with, right And as I was struggling with it, and as
- 1:20:48I brought it to the forefront and my life, coach and call Holy Spirit
- 1:20:53to me back in the Amaya again for like the tenth time this year and
- 1:20:58what I saw. When you go reading Near Maya, you will see it.
- 1:21:00In the first few chapters Near Maya talking about the building, building it
- 1:21:04out, getting everything done. But the rest of the book is talking about
- 1:21:10the celebration after they rebuild the all. God gave them permission to celebrate.
- 1:21:17Oh, you have permission to celebrate your vision. You have permission to celebrate
- 1:21:25the execution. You are worthy, You are beautifully and wonderfully made. And
- 1:21:30I need you to believe it. You have to believe it. To achieve
- 1:21:32you got to see yourself there. For you be yourself there. Your mind
- 1:21:35turns into a movie theater. When you close your eyes, you can see
- 1:21:38their vision and you can just see it run across your face. I need
- 1:21:41you to blee that vision. You gotta breathe liking to that vision. You
- 1:21:44gotta bleed that vision with everything inside of you. And when you accomplish that
- 1:21:49vision, when you execute that vision, when you become that person to make
- 1:21:54that vision come to fruition, you gotta celebrate, or else you may feel
- 1:22:00that it was worth this whoa, or you'll feel like a slave, feel
- 1:22:08like a slave to the vision. But really, but see but see,
- 1:22:12but see when really God was trying to give you something to help you birth
- 1:22:15because you was to con do it to begin to make this happen. And
- 1:22:19for those of us that don't know what to can do, it is it's
- 1:22:23the it's it's the thing that carry the electric current. So you're like,
- 1:22:25can come on, m So somebody has to bring the energy for the light
- 1:22:30swish to come on. You just don't flip the switch and make it happen.
- 1:22:33It's things and wires behind that wall that makes that happen. They can
- 1:22:38hold the electric charge. See, you are the can't do it. It's
- 1:22:41able to hold the electric charge of the Holy Spirit to get everybody else to
- 1:22:44come on, right and so and so you you you have to you have
- 1:22:49to accept it in And what I was saying when I was like, you
- 1:22:54know, as we close, a couple of things that I wanted people to
- 1:22:57take away was grace, give yourself grace. Comparison is a thief of joy
- 1:23:02and it plays into the trick of the devil because they leaves it to the
- 1:23:06Aposta syndrome. And now you start producing the areas where you feel empty.
- 1:23:12Wow, you didne made all this money and you feel like you're empty.
- 1:23:15That's because you're not producing where God wants you to produce. You're producing where
- 1:23:19you wanted to produce. You're producing with your comparison wanted you to produce.
- 1:23:24You're producing what your fear wanted you to produce. You were so fearful of
- 1:23:28being the blueprint that you became the playbook and so and so you thought that
- 1:23:35because it felt hard. You thought because nobody believed in it right away,
- 1:23:41you see, and you allowed that to make you the playbook. And you
- 1:23:45win and did something that everybody else wanted you to do because you saw Mama
- 1:23:49do it, you saw Daddy do it. Now you want to do it,
- 1:23:51but that ain't really what you want to do. I'm talking to somebody
- 1:23:55right now. I need you to believe in you. I need you to
- 1:24:00go after you. I need you to chase the heart of God, become
- 1:24:02intimate, understand where he wants you to be, not where you want you
- 1:24:06to be. It's different. See, I didn't want to be in leadership.
- 1:24:16I wanted to go be the best salesman that I can be. I
- 1:24:19didn't even want to manage people. Jessica come into the branch her Mama prophesying
- 1:24:27to me, telling me I'm gonna build communities. I thought God was talking
- 1:24:30about property, you know, he was talking about his people. I wanted
- 1:24:36to be the real estate mogul where I have all this apartment complace and build
- 1:24:41this. God said, no, son, say your property and build a
- 1:24:43community of people that I want you to build an inner circle. And I
- 1:24:46want you to be to con do it, to deliver what I need you
- 1:24:48to deliver. It's different, man, it's different. And it's hard to
- 1:24:57accept because because you you have a picture of where you want to go,
- 1:25:02and God has a destiny of where you're going to go. Man, agreed,
- 1:25:10we went there fast like it was like and and I just I just
- 1:25:18want people to to truly understand that everything you want is on the other side
- 1:25:23of the hall. And none of this is going to be easy. It's
- 1:25:25never going to be easy. You have to be willing to kill your flesh
- 1:25:29every day. You have to go after the after the heart of God.
- 1:25:31Man, and you and you gotta give yourself their grace. You have to
- 1:25:35develop your vision, you have to get those core values, you have to
- 1:25:39live them. And you gotta show empathy to people. Man, and Lee
- 1:25:44will love, Lee will love that. That's maybe that that song that that
- 1:25:49thing go look I mean love Greg, it's it's can I take my Can
