- 0:00Speaker 1: They cited a financial disclosure for Congress that initially said
- 0:05Speaker 1: that your husband's firm was worth $ 30 million. That was
- 0:09Speaker 1: before an accountant put in the liabilities of that firm,
- 0:11Speaker 1: which then brought the $ 30 million down to like essentially
- 0:14Speaker 1: net zero.
- 0:14Speaker 2: $ 20, 000.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Which did make me worry a little about your husband's business.
- 0:18Speaker 2: To be honest.
- 0:19Speaker 3: She's not in them anymore. She's not in them anymore.
- 0:22Speaker 3: She's not in them anymore.
- 0:23Speaker 4: You're listening to the 47 Morning Update with Ben Ferguson.
- 0:27Speaker 5: Good Thursday morning. So nice to have you with us
- 0:29Speaker 5: on the 47 Morning Update. And my oh my, do
- 0:31Speaker 5: we have an update for you on Elam Omar. She's
- 0:35Speaker 5: come out of hiding and she's taking swings at President
- 0:38Speaker 5: Donald Trump, even putting out a TikTok video begging for
- 0:42Speaker 5: donations and then sat down for what I could only
- 0:45Speaker 5: describe as a fake interview with MSNOW. trying to help
- 0:49Speaker 5: her explain all of her problems away. So what did
- 0:52Speaker 5: she say? We've got it all for you. Before we
- 0:55Speaker 5: get to that, the midterm elections are heating up, and
- 0:57Speaker 5: congressional control and President Trump's agenda hang in the balance.
- 1:01Speaker 5: Every headline has the potential to shift the odds. On CalSheet,

- 1:13Speaker 5: Let me give you one example. There's a big race
- 1:15Speaker 5: down there in Texas. And the question is, well, can
- 1:19Speaker 5: Paxson defeat Tallarico? Well, right now, Paxson is currently trading
- 1:22Speaker 5: at 50%, meaning a $ 100 trade would pay out $ 93
- 1:26Speaker 5: if he beats Tallarico. Now, this is just one of
- 1:29Speaker 5: the many races that you can look at right now.
- 1:32Speaker 5: And like I said, every headline can change the odds.
- 1:35Speaker 5: On Calci, you're trading against Piers in a live market.

- 2:08Speaker 6: It's the 47 Morning Update, and it starts right now.
- 2:11Speaker 2: Story number one.
- 2:12Speaker 5: So, Ilham Omar has been in hiding. This after there
- 2:17Speaker 5: is a serious investigation, and then them actually coming into
- 2:21Speaker 5: her house, raiding it, and taking things afterwards. She disappeared
- 2:25Speaker 5: for a week. Where in the world is Ilham Omar?
- 2:28Speaker 5: That's a game that could have been played over the
- 2:30Speaker 5: last seven days. She has now resurfaced.
- 2:35Speaker 3: And.
- 2:35Speaker 6: This time, she has a simple message. I'm not joking.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Send money! That's right.
- 2:41Speaker 5: With federal investigators examining allegations of immigration fraud.
- 2:46Speaker 6: After agents raided her D.C.
- 2:48Speaker 5: Home, seized electronic devices and her passport.
- 2:52Speaker 6: Yeah, they got her passport. And questioned members of her family.
- 2:55Speaker 5: Omar is now saying, please, can you just send money? Now,
- 2:59Speaker 5: before I give you her response, as she's come out
- 3:02Speaker 5: of hiding, she put it on TikTok and then did
- 3:04Speaker 5: an interview. You need to understand just how serious the
- 3:07Speaker 5: investigation has become even over the last 12 hours, all right?
- 3:11Speaker 6: So I'm going to go back to October the 12th.
- 3:15Speaker 5: Six o'clock in the morning, federal agents from Homeland Security
- 3:19Speaker 5: investigations arrived at Omar's Washington, D.C.
- 3:22Speaker 6: Residence.
- 3:23Speaker 5: They were executing a search warrant authorized by a federal judge. Now,
- 3:27Speaker 5: this wasn't some routine paperwork request. Investigators seized electronic devices,
- 3:33Speaker 5: then documents, her personal cell phone, and her passport. Now,
- 3:38Speaker 5: the Justice Department confirmed that the search was connected to
- 3:41Speaker 5: an ongoing federal criminal investigation. Now, what were they investigating?
- 3:45Speaker 5: We now know a lot more about that. According to
- 3:48Speaker 5: reports that have been widely circulated by CNN, CBS News,
- 3:52Speaker 5: Washington Post, they're all now saying the same thing. Federal
- 3:56Speaker 5: investigators are examining whether Omar or her late father provided
- 4:01Speaker 5: false information on immigration and citizenship paperwork dating back decades.
- 4:06Speaker 5: That's number one. Now, specifically, we're now learning investigators are
- 4:10Speaker 5: looking at whether her age was accurately reported when her
- 4:14Speaker 5: father became a naturalized American citizen in 2000. Now, you
- 4:19Speaker 5: may say, all right, why does that matter? Well, because
- 4:22Speaker 5: under the citizenship laws that were applicable at the time,
- 4:25Speaker 5: a child could automatically acquire citizenship. through a naturalized parent
- 4:32Speaker 5: if certain requirements were satisfied. Well, investigators are now examining
- 4:37Speaker 5: whether Omar actually did qualify. And if federal prosecutors can
- 4:41Speaker 5: establish that material information was deliberately falsified, then there's real
- 4:46Speaker 5: legal consequences. And that's the other important part about this investigation. Now,
- 4:52Speaker 5: the second part of this investigation is also what we're
- 4:55Speaker 5: learning a lot more about right now. The investigation is
- 4:59Speaker 5: now reaching into her family. And that is where this story,
- 5:03Speaker 5: and honestly, just kind of blew up. Like, it got bigger.
- 5:07Speaker 5: According to CBS News, multiple members of Omar's family have
- 5:11Speaker 5: received federal grand jury subpoenas. And now we know that
- 5:15Speaker 5: her older sister has been interviewed also by federal investigators.
- 5:21Speaker 5: Fox News even reported that Noor, the sister, voluntarily spoke
- 5:25Speaker 5: with investigators following the raid. Now, you've got to think
- 5:28Speaker 5: about that. You've got federal agents. They are no longer
- 5:31Speaker 5: simply reviewing old immigration records. They're now questioning family members
- 5:36Speaker 5: who may have knowledge of the circumstances surrounding Omar's immigration history.
- 5:41Speaker 5: There's also another development as well. Omar's sister was scheduled
- 5:45Speaker 5: to appear at a book event in Minnesota on October
- 5:48Speaker 5: the 15th. That appearance was canceled with organizers citing a, quote,
- 5:53Speaker 5: family emergency. Now, the cancellation also came during the same
- 5:57Speaker 5: week that the investigators were questioning members of the family. Now,
- 6:01Speaker 5: that is obviously important news. Now, there's also another claim,
- 6:07Speaker 5: and this allegation has actually followed Ilham Omar for years,
- 6:11Speaker 5: and that claim is that she married her brother as
- 6:14Speaker 5: part of an immigration scheme. Now, Omar has repeatedly denied
- 6:18Speaker 5: that allegation, and she said that it is not established
- 6:21Speaker 5: with any type of facts at all. Well, That brings
- 6:25Speaker 5: us to where we are today. And that is where
- 6:28Speaker 5: did she actually go? Why did she disappear for a week? Well,
- 6:32Speaker 5: she's come out of hiding and she decided to do
- 6:35Speaker 5: a TikTok video. And here's what Omar said.
- 6:38Speaker 2: Everyone, Ilhan here.
- 6:40Speaker 8: I just wanted to say thank you so much for
- 6:43Speaker 8: the support to everyone who sent a note of support
- 6:48Speaker 8: for everyone who sent $ 5, $ 10, $ 20 support. That goes
- 6:53Speaker 8: a long way as we fight Trump and his administration
- 6:59Speaker 8: for trying to intimidate me and so many people right
- 7:04Speaker 8: before the midterm elections. We know that they're running scared.
- 7:08Speaker 8: We're not going to be intimidated. We're not going to
- 7:10Speaker 8: be silenced. We're not going to be scared. I'll be
- 7:13Speaker 8: out there campaigning alongside all of you and making sure
- 7:17Speaker 8: that we beat back all of this and that we
- 7:19Speaker 8: win in the midterms, win the House, win the Senate,
- 7:22Speaker 8: and hold this administration accountable. Thank you so much again.
- 7:27Speaker 3: And please continue to support us.
- 7:29Speaker 8: It is going to be a very expensive and challenging time.
- 7:34Speaker 8: And so we appreciate whether you're able to send 5, 10, 20.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 7:39Speaker 6: There it is.
- 7:40Speaker 5: Elam for Congress. She puts it out there. It's going
- 7:44Speaker 5: to be very challenging. It's going to be a challenging time. Now,
- 7:50Speaker 5: you notice that she was a little bit more meek
- 7:53Speaker 5: and mild. She used her bread and butter that Donald
- 7:55Speaker 5: Trump is evil, even though Donald Trump has said from
- 7:58Speaker 5: the very beginning one thing. We're going to cut down
- 8:01Speaker 5: on waste, fraud, that would apply to her, and abuse.
- 8:05Speaker 5: That would also apply to Olam Omar. She was also
- 8:08Speaker 5: asked one other question in an interview about the rumors
- 8:12Speaker 5: of her marrying her brother. and in MS Now, the
- 8:16Speaker 5: liberal network, and I want you to hear what she
- 8:18Speaker 5: said in the interview about that.
- 8:21Speaker 3: It started with a Somali blog that I don't know
- 8:26Speaker 3: if it still exists, but somebody put in there that
- 8:29Speaker 3: he had to have been my brother or something to
- 8:31Speaker 3: that effect. And right-wing conspiracy theorists in Minneapolis got a
- 8:38Speaker 3: hold of it, and they just kind of went and
- 8:40Speaker 3: found random people who were like, she introduced us. She
- 8:45Speaker 3: introduced him to us and said he was her brother,
- 8:48Speaker 3: which is... you know, insane. I mean, no, I don't
- 8:52Speaker 3: know those people that they talk about.
- 8:55Speaker 2: He was not, you were not related to him. Not
- 8:58Speaker 2: that there's not like, there's.
- 8:59Speaker 1: Not some weird kernel of truth that through some game,
- 9:01Speaker 1: not to my knowledge.
- 9:04Speaker 5: Not to my knowledge. That's your new line of excuse. Again,
- 9:10Speaker 5: this is the law. Omar sitting down with a friendly saying,
- 9:14Speaker 5: not to my knowledge. Am I related to this guy
- 9:19Speaker 5: who people say is my brother who I married? Now,
- 9:23Speaker 5: there's also another part of this investigation that we're learning about,
- 9:28Speaker 5: and it involves the family's finances. CBS News has also
- 9:33Speaker 5: reported that federal prosecutors are examining the financial disclosures involving
- 9:38Speaker 5: businesses operated by Omar's husband. Those disclosures initially reported business
- 9:44Speaker 5: valuations totaling between $ 6 million and $ 30 million. Omar subsequently
- 9:50Speaker 5: attributed the figures to an accounting error and then filed
- 9:55Speaker 5: amended disclosures reporting substantially lower asset values. Federal authorities are
- 10:00Speaker 5: examining those discrepancies. And a discrepancy in a financial disclosure
- 10:04Speaker 5: does not, by the way, automatically mean somebody committed a crime.
- 10:08Speaker 5: But what prosecutors are looking into is what happened and
- 10:11Speaker 5: whether any laws were violated and there was this much money.
- 10:16Speaker 5: Where did it actually go? Now, these are all questions
- 10:20Speaker 5: that she should have to answer. She was asked about
- 10:24Speaker 5: her money and she wants you to believe now that
- 10:27Speaker 5: she's not rich. She's working class and lives a very
- 10:31Speaker 5: basic life.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Right.
- 10:34Speaker 1: Let me ask about the second part of the world
- 10:38Speaker 1: that the president has conjured about you, which is which
- 10:40Speaker 1: is your fabulous wealth.
- 10:43Speaker 2: He has said that, like, I mean, again, you.
- 10:46Speaker 1: Can never track what the president's actually saying because he
- 10:48Speaker 1: says a lot of things, that you have all this money,
- 10:51Speaker 1: that you drive a lot of cars, you have a
- 10:52Speaker 1: bunch of houses. They cited a financial disclosure for Congress
- 10:58Speaker 1: that initially said that your husband's firm was worth $ 30 million.
- 11:02Speaker 1: That was before an accountant put in the liabilities of
- 11:05Speaker 1: that firm, which then brought the $ 30 million down to, like,
- 11:08Speaker 1: essentially net zero, $ 20, 000, which did make me worry a
- 11:12Speaker 1: little about your husband's business, to be honest.
- 11:14Speaker 3: He's not in them anymore.
- 11:15Speaker 9: I was like, well, that seems like a big difference
- 11:18Speaker 9: between $ 30 million and $ 20, 000. There was a congressional oversight
- 11:23Speaker 9: body that voted that there was no wrongdoing, there was
- 11:25Speaker 9: no evidence of wrongdoing.
- 11:27Speaker 2: What is your financial situation?
- 11:30Speaker 3: I mean, it's, you know, working class, I guess, like
- 11:33Speaker 3: paycheck to paycheck still. You know, we've got four kids, and.
- 11:39Speaker 3: You know, we live, I think, like a basic life.
- 11:42Speaker 3: I have a Toyota Camry that's from 2016. It's my
- 11:46Speaker 3: only car. I rent my D.C. place and my Minneapolis place.
- 11:51Speaker 3: And so, I mean, I don't know if that sounds like,
- 11:56Speaker 3: you know, not majority of Congress, but there's some of
- 11:58Speaker 3: us that don't come from wealth and don't have wealth.
- 12:01Speaker 2: Is that a big divide in Congress?
- 12:03Speaker 3: It is. Yeah, because you have, like, the millionaires and...
- 12:08Speaker 3: And then you have those of us, you know, when
- 12:10Speaker 3: we first went to Congress, had to borrow money to
- 12:13Speaker 3: find a place to sleep.
- 12:13Speaker 2: It's expensive, actually, to live in two places.
- 12:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 12:17Speaker 6: It's expensive, you know, to live in two places.
- 12:21Speaker 5: When you listen to that interview, you almost have to
- 12:25Speaker 5: ask yourself this question. Is it even an interview or
- 12:29Speaker 5: is it just straight up propaganda? There's not a tough
- 12:32Speaker 5: question there. He's apologizing on her behalf, making it easier
- 12:35Speaker 5: for her to answer the questions. Those aren't hard questions.
- 12:38Speaker 5: It's like, well, you know, they said you didn't do
- 12:41Speaker 5: anything wrong. So, you know, let's just make sure that
- 12:44Speaker 5: everybody knows that you're totally fine. And hey, who cares
- 12:47Speaker 5: if $ 6 million or $ 15 million or $ 20 or $ 30
- 12:50Speaker 5: million in fact disappeared and that you changed it? How
- 12:54Speaker 5: do you get it that wrong in your financial disclosures?
- 12:57Speaker 5: There's a lot here. And this goes back to President
- 13:00Speaker 5: Donald Trump. A really important part of the question with
- 13:05Speaker 5: President Donald Trump that he talked about, and that is, hey,
- 13:09Speaker 5: if you're committing fraud or abuse, it doesn't matter who
- 13:13Speaker 5: you are. It doesn't matter, by the way, if you
- 13:16Speaker 5: are a member of Congress. We are going to find it,
- 13:20Speaker 5: and we are going to make sure that you cannot
- 13:22Speaker 5: abuse the system. Now, ultimately, if it comes out in
- 13:26Speaker 5: this investigation that she should have never been eligible to
- 13:30Speaker 5: be in Congress, that she actually shouldn't even be in
- 13:33Speaker 5: this country, and that she lied on these forms, That
- 13:37Speaker 5: is going to send a massive message to others that
- 13:41Speaker 5: have lied to get in this country or others that
- 13:44Speaker 5: have broken into this country or others that have lied
- 13:47Speaker 5: on forms to stay in this country. That while Donald
- 13:52Speaker 5: Trump's in office, while he's the president, while his administration
- 13:56Speaker 5: is in charge, it doesn't matter who you are.
- 14:00Speaker 6: They are willing to look at everything. And that may
- 14:03Speaker 6: be the moral.
- 14:04Speaker 2: Of the story.
