Speaker 3: Of course, a big story is the stormy weather man.
1:35
Speaker 2: I'll tell you about three or so this morning, I
1:38
Speaker 2: thought I thought my house was about ready to just
1:41
Speaker 2: be lifted off of its foundation. It takes a lot
1:44
Speaker 2: to wake me up, and it takes even more to
1:47
Speaker 2: keep me awake. And then another big downpour about the
1:50
Speaker 2: time I hit town about seven o'clock or so this morning. Now,
1:54
Speaker 2: those storms are going to continue off and on pretty much,
1:57
Speaker 2: not only throughout the day, but throughout the week. We're
1:59
Speaker 2: going to have some breaks. But according to media rilogist
2:02
Speaker 2: Brian Hughes, when you may drag him in here a
2:04
Speaker 2: little bit later on to tell us what is going on.
2:07
Speaker 2: I do love Brian's description. No hot, depressive and active
2:10
Speaker 2: is how he called the temperatures today with the AID
2:12
Speaker 2: index near one hundred, these showers, the thunderstorms are sticking around,
2:15
Speaker 2: so there are high water issues out there, folks, the
2:17
Speaker 2: normal low lying areas.
2:18
Speaker 3: As they say, so you know where they are. Use caution.
2:20
Speaker 2: We'll have more in that coming up a little bit
2:23
Speaker 2: later on in the show. Also Kenawh County Commission Natalie

Speaker 2: For Canines events, several things, and the news to get
2:34
Speaker 2: to and is always your calls and text are welcome.
2:37
Speaker 2: I want to welcome into the show now the president
2:39
Speaker 2: and CEO of Guarantee Banks several locations, and for the
2:41
Speaker 2: past few months they've been up and running here in Charleston,
2:45
Speaker 2: kind of a soft opening type thing since April, I think,
2:47
Speaker 2: and today they're having their official grand opening with the
2:49
Speaker 2: ribbon cutting set for one o'clock this afternoon. Josh Snowers,
2:52
Speaker 2: President Ceoni, joins us this morning in the Jeric Construction Studios.
2:56
Speaker 3: Good morning, sir, Welcome to the show. Morning Dave.
2:57
Speaker 2: Appreciate Tom, thank you for being there. So how's the
2:59
Speaker 2: for a few months man? In your soft opening? I
3:02
Speaker 2: guess it's.
3:02
Speaker 3: Been great, Dave.
3:03
Speaker 5: You know we've we've been uh just welcomed with open
3:06
Speaker 5: arms by the city of Charleston. People have been coming
3:08
Speaker 5: in every day. Uh, we've been serving the the the
3:11
Speaker 5: people of Charleston. Building those relationships has been our goal
3:14
Speaker 5: since day one. And uh, let you as you said,
3:16
Speaker 5: you know, we had a soft opening in April and uh,
3:19
Speaker 5: you know, make sure that everything's uh you know, kicking
3:22
Speaker 5: on all cylinders and we're ready to have a grand
3:24
Speaker 5: opening to day and and get off, get off to
3:26
Speaker 5: the races.
3:26
Speaker 6: Now.
3:27
Speaker 2: That grand opening is gonna be at one o'clock today.
3:28
Speaker 2: The public is invited to a ton but you can't
3:30
Speaker 2: make it at one o'clock. You can come in any
3:32
Speaker 2: time and take it, take a look at the facility.
3:33
Speaker 2: Rate absolutely, you know, the ribbon cuttings at one o'clock.
3:37
Speaker 2: You know it's the formal formal grand opening, but uh,
3:39
Speaker 2: you know we've got lobby hours Monday through Friday. You know,
3:43
Speaker 2: drive through is is will be open and people can
3:45
Speaker 2: come in anytime, and uh, you know, I'm.
3:48
Speaker 5: There most days. We have branches down to Mego County
3:50
Speaker 5: as well. I do spend some time with ever that
3:52
Speaker 5: I'm there most days, come in ask for me. I'll
3:54
Speaker 5: sit down and talk to you and listen to your
3:56
Speaker 5: story and uh, hopefully we can.
3:57
Speaker 3: Help you out.
3:58
Speaker 2: Now, there are banks everywhere throughout the Kanal value. What
4:01
Speaker 2: makes Guarantee Bank different?
4:02
Speaker 5: Look, I think you know, when we decided to come
4:05
Speaker 5: to Charleston, I mean there was there was multiple reasons
4:07
Speaker 5: behind that. I mean, other than it just being the
4:10
Speaker 5: economic and governmental center of West Virginia. But we think
4:12
Speaker 5: it's a market that a that a community bank can
4:14
Speaker 5: really you play a role. And and I think from
4:17
Speaker 5: a community bank standpoint, what we offer is not just
4:21
Speaker 5: the modernization and the growth, but also those values of
4:24
Speaker 5: community bank that doesn't that that sometimes gets lost with that,
4:27
Speaker 5: those personal relationships, the accessibility, the responsiveness, the the local
4:32
Speaker 5: decision making. And I think that I think West Virginians
4:35
Speaker 5: and and you know, everyone in Kanawha County and Charleston
4:38
Speaker 5: you still want so I think that's what sets us apart.
4:41
Speaker 5: And hopefully we can uh uh you know, we can
4:44
Speaker 5: build value for for the businesses and individuals and uh
4:48
Speaker 5: nonprofits in anybody that needs it needs those financial services.
4:51
Speaker 2: Now, you mentioned the word community bank about ten times
4:54
Speaker 2: UH and that it's very important to you.
4:56
Speaker 3: Get it out a little bit. It is Guarantee Bank.
4:59
Speaker 5: At our core is a West Virginia community bank, you know,
5:02
Speaker 5: found in nineteen seventy six, served southern West Virginia. Since then,
5:07
Speaker 5: we've been blessed to be successful enough to invest in
5:10
Speaker 5: other markets in the last year, but we are at
5:13
Speaker 5: our core community bank, and we we want to be
5:15
Speaker 5: able to again differentiate with with with with some of
5:19
Speaker 5: the other with with some of the other banks that
5:22
Speaker 5: that are out there, that you can grow and you
5:24
Speaker 5: can modernize and you can offer some of those services
5:27
Speaker 5: that they expect from larger institutions, but not lose that
5:30
Speaker 5: community feel and that and that really is what we're
5:33
Speaker 5: proud of. That is our mission, uh and that's what
5:35
Speaker 5: we're here to do. Talk about the different services that
5:37
Speaker 5: you offer.
5:38
Speaker 7: Uh.
5:38
Speaker 5: Look, we we offer uh you know, we offer consumer loans, UH,
5:42
Speaker 5: commercial loans, whether that's commercial real estate, whether that's equipment
5:46
Speaker 5: for for for for small businesses, whether that's uh, you know,
5:49
Speaker 5: mortgages for individuals.
5:51
Speaker 6: UH.
5:51
Speaker 5: We offer installment loans, auto loans, uh CDs iras you know,
5:55
Speaker 5: you know, the whole gamut of financial services that you
5:57
Speaker 5: might think of when you walk into to any bank,
5:59
Speaker 5: whether it's a community bank or one of the larger institutions.
6:02
Speaker 5: We offer those products and those services, and uh, we
6:05
Speaker 5: believe that we're competitive just just about with anybody else.
6:08
Speaker 2: And you know, getting back to the community bank aspect
6:10
Speaker 2: of it, again, banking ain't what it was this time,
6:14
Speaker 2: let's say fifteen or twenty years ago, let alone thirty
6:18
Speaker 2: or forty years ago.
6:19
Speaker 3: This changed so much.
6:19
Speaker 2: How do you how do you walk that line between
6:23
Speaker 2: doing the community service of the community banking that that
6:26
Speaker 2: you're that you're trying to do it, but also keeping
6:28
Speaker 2: up with all the modern technologies of banking.
6:30
Speaker 5: These days, right, And I think you're you're you're right
6:32
Speaker 5: at the core of what we are striving to do.
6:34
Speaker 5: You know, we we understand the needs uh and and
6:37
Speaker 5: and how the market changes with with the technologies. We
6:41
Speaker 5: have a full online banking platform like you would see
6:43
Speaker 5: on any any bank, you know, with you know, a
6:46
Speaker 5: ten billion dollar bank, we have you know, that online
6:49
Speaker 5: capability you can do you know your your your deposits
6:52
Speaker 5: on your phone online. You know we have that capability,
6:55
Speaker 5: but we want to make sure that as we grow
6:57
Speaker 5: and as we modernize and offer this vers is that
7:00
Speaker 5: people come to expect that we don't lose those those
7:04
Speaker 5: personal relationships that you know that you have that accessibility.
7:07
Speaker 5: You can pick up the phone uh and call Guarantee
7:10
Speaker 5: Bank and you're going to talk to somebody that that
7:11
Speaker 5: more than likely if you call the Charleston Brands lives
7:14
Speaker 5: in Charleston, I can get you an answer. You're not
7:16
Speaker 5: going to go through a whole uh. You know, you bureaucratic, uh,
7:19
Speaker 5: you know silo like a lot of people get caught in.
7:22
Speaker 5: You're going to talk to a real person. You're going
7:23
Speaker 5: to talk to somebody you know from Charleston that can
7:26
Speaker 5: more than likely make a decision on what you might
7:28
Speaker 5: be looking for.
7:29
Speaker 2: And I love the idea of talking to actual people
7:31
Speaker 2: from around here. So if you know, we can be
7:34
Speaker 2: somewhat folksy in West Virginia some time and if you
7:36
Speaker 2: call up the bank and you say, look, thinking about
7:38
Speaker 2: buying this piece of property over insistent Ville and so and.
7:42
Speaker 3: So, and they'll say, oh, yeah, that's that was uh
7:44
Speaker 3: it was Johnny's.
7:45
Speaker 5: Market or something back in the day or something like that, right,
7:47
Speaker 5: And I think I said it when I was on
7:49
Speaker 5: here before, and I've said it.
7:50
Speaker 3: I've said it multiple times.
7:52
Speaker 5: You know, if if if you walk in a bank
7:53
Speaker 5: and your banker doesn't know your mom's you have made
7:56
Speaker 5: a name, and where your land lays, then you're just
7:59
Speaker 5: borrowed money from a strange and and we want to
8:03
Speaker 5: to bring that community feel uh, you know, to keep
8:06
Speaker 5: that community feel uh with with with banking because we
8:09
Speaker 5: believe truly that you know, fundamentally, banking is still a
8:13
Speaker 5: relationship business. And and we think that most people want
8:16
Speaker 5: that relationship uh when when when they're when they're talking,
8:20
Speaker 5: particularly small business owners, you know that they want to
8:22
Speaker 5: know who's making the decisions about about their business and
8:24
Speaker 5: and and we think we can offer that and and
8:27
Speaker 5: and hopefully we get.
8:27
Speaker 2: The chance to talking to Josh Towers again, who's the
8:29
Speaker 2: president and CEO of Guaranteed Bank. Dave Island show and

8:47
Speaker 2: because what you don't know can't hurt you. Talk about
8:50
Speaker 2: your other locations that you have so as a.
8:52
Speaker 5: Mension before you know, we you know, we were founded
8:56
Speaker 5: in nineteen seventy six in Mingo County. We have three
8:59
Speaker 5: branches in Minga County, uh in Williamson and del Barton
9:02
Speaker 5: and Gilbert, still very thriving branches in Mingo County serving
9:06
Speaker 5: southern West Virginia. But as I mentioned, we've been blessed
9:08
Speaker 5: with success and have invested in other markets in the
9:11
Speaker 5: last year.
9:12
Speaker 6: Uh.
9:12
Speaker 5: Not only are we opening up uh you know the
9:14
Speaker 5: branch you know, having the grand opening here in Charleston
9:17
Speaker 5: today and you know had the soft olden in April,
9:19
Speaker 5: but we opened up branch in Wayne right across from
9:23
Speaker 5: the County Courthouse in the town of Wayne last last
9:26
Speaker 5: summer in July, again serving serving markets that we feel
9:30
Speaker 5: are underserved where you've had a lot of banks that
9:33
Speaker 5: have that have either merged or or left and and
9:36
Speaker 5: just continue to try to serve uh, you know, the
9:39
Speaker 5: people of West Virginia and give them options. But we uh,
9:42
Speaker 5: you know, we've we've we've been thriving in those new
9:45
Speaker 5: locations and uh, you know, the sky's limit.
9:47
Speaker 2: I want to talk about the actual building here in
9:49
Speaker 2: Charleston thirteen T when you can all bulevards.
9:51
Speaker 3: There's quite a history with that building.
9:53
Speaker 2: It is, it's it's served me most recently. I guess
9:55
Speaker 2: it was the American Federation for Teachers. Yes, building, but
9:58
Speaker 2: it's I mean, it's a beautiful building right there on
10:01
Speaker 2: the boulevard.
10:01
Speaker 5: And it's primarily as you mentioned it was, it was
10:04
Speaker 5: primarily occupied you know, previously by the uh American Federation Teachers.
10:08
Speaker 5: But prior to that, it's been multiple different uh you know,
10:11
Speaker 5: financial institutions over the years.
10:14
Speaker 3: It has, uh it's eye catching right there on the boulevard.
10:17
Speaker 5: And again, you know, we are our strategic plan was
10:19
Speaker 5: to be located in Charleston, you know, sooner rather than later.
10:22
Speaker 5: But that building uh uh coming available it really uh
10:28
Speaker 5: you really forced us to accelerate those plans because it's
10:30
Speaker 5: just in a prime location right there on the boulevard.
10:32
Speaker 5: You know, great ingress, egress, great visibility, beautiful, you have
10:37
Speaker 5: plenty of room to grow inside. And so we are
10:40
Speaker 5: we are really we are really tickled to be there.
10:41
Speaker 3: Well, and it's a great I think.
10:43
Speaker 2: I don't know what your plans are from it, but
10:45
Speaker 2: I talked to the people, some other people in the
10:47
Speaker 2: company and they said said that they're they can envision
10:49
Speaker 2: maybe because it's got so many rooms in it, maybe
10:51
Speaker 2: doing community service type things and they're maybe having meetings
10:54
Speaker 2: or something and everything.
10:55
Speaker 5: Sure, I mean, we we have we have plenty of space.
10:57
Speaker 5: We have you know, it's essentially a really two buildings.
11:01
Speaker 5: You have the original structure that you have an addition
11:03
Speaker 5: onto it and and it.
11:05
Speaker 3: Like I said, plenty of room to grow.
11:07
Speaker 7: Uh.
11:07
Speaker 5: We we we want to host uh at the community events.
11:11
Speaker 5: We want to offer it to too, folks that want
11:13
Speaker 5: to come in and like you said, have uh you know,
11:15
Speaker 5: have meetings, sit down, possibly offer them financial services. But
11:19
Speaker 5: you know, we are looking to possibly sub lease some
11:21
Speaker 5: of it out until we you know, grow into it.
11:24
Speaker 5: So we're uh, but you know, we're in it for
11:26
Speaker 5: the long haul and and uh the building is a
11:27
Speaker 5: great place for us to be and to grow into.
11:30
Speaker 2: So the grand opening celebration, can you guys opened in
11:33
Speaker 2: April we'll have a soft opening, but you have the
11:36
Speaker 2: grand opening celebration. I wish the weather was a little
11:38
Speaker 2: bit better, but maybe maybe you'll get a little bit
11:40
Speaker 2: Maybe Brian Hughes to work with us and we'll get
11:41
Speaker 2: a little bit of a break here.
11:43
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think we've got a little gap
11:45
Speaker 3: in the weather.
11:45
Speaker 5: I think I think we're going to be fine until
11:47
Speaker 5: later this afternoon, so we should be able to get
11:49
Speaker 5: to the grand opening and and hopefully, uh you know,
11:51
Speaker 5: at least be able to do the ribbon cutting outsides.
11:53
Speaker 2: Yeah, that's the plan anyway. And I know you have
11:55
Speaker 2: officials there and so on and so forth. You got
11:57
Speaker 2: refreshments so everybody.
11:58
Speaker 5: Become plenty of food and the fish months. So anybody
12:01
Speaker 5: can come on down. Welcome, come down. And I'm on
12:02
Speaker 5: the air at that time. So if you want to,
12:04
Speaker 5: you know, have a have one of your people send
12:05
Speaker 5: me a play of food. We're not that far away.
12:07
Speaker 5: We can do we can do a Guarantee delivery. So
12:10
Speaker 5: you got a guy named Tommy, put him to work.
12:12
Speaker 5: We will absolutely something, absolutely all right.
12:14
Speaker 2: Josh Stowers, President's CEO of Guarantee Bank thirteen to twenty
12:17
Speaker 2: can a boulevard east here and Charleston building looks great.
12:20
Speaker 2: It's going to be a great day for your grand
12:21
Speaker 2: opening once we get the rain behind us, at least
12:23
Speaker 2: for a little while. We're just trying to hit that
12:24
Speaker 2: sweet spot in the window where you can do it outside.
12:27
Speaker 3: If not, we'll move it inside. That's right, well, we
12:29
Speaker 3: will adapt, all right. Appreciate you being here, thanks to
12:32
Speaker 3: appreciate your break, and we'll come back right after this.

15:46
Speaker 14: to the show. Today Island Show and five adline brought
15:48
Speaker 14: to you fire by the all New Generations Ford of
15:50
Speaker 14: Hurricane Visit Generations for dot com. We got our schedules
15:53
Speaker 14: a little bit crossed here.
15:54
Speaker 2: We had intended on talking to our good friend Amanda
15:58
Speaker 2: from the Kennal Tarst new Manassociation with the not.
16:01
Speaker 3: Associated with the Adopt Me. Please put her of the week.
16:03
Speaker 2: I already think it's Friday, but no, it's not that
16:07
Speaker 2: it is their Kegs for Canine event and It's going
16:10
Speaker 2: to be held at the Red Carpet Lounge coming up
16:12
Speaker 2: on August twenty ninth, And for some reason, we had
16:15
Speaker 2: it down that she was coming in today and that's
16:16
Speaker 2: my fault.
16:17
Speaker 3: Possibly.
16:18
Speaker 2: If not, then I'll blame Ashley upstairs for it, but
16:20
Speaker 2: I do I think it may have been my fault.
16:22
Speaker 2: But I will let you know that the annual Kegs
16:25
Speaker 2: for Canine event benefit of the Canal Charleston Newman Association
16:28
Speaker 2: is going to be held August to twenty ninth at
16:30
Speaker 2: the Red Carpet Lounge on Elizabeth Street in Charleston. Now,
16:34
Speaker 2: Amanda Pollard, who I was talking about earlier, is the
16:37
Speaker 2: director of Development for the Canal charalst Neumane Association, and
16:39
Speaker 2: we will work to get her back on the show
16:41
Speaker 2: to talk about this. This is one of the premiere
16:44
Speaker 2: events and it's really really fantastic too. I mean, it's
16:48
Speaker 2: a lot of fun. I've been the last couple of years.
16:50
Speaker 2: Steve Animal and myself from ninety eight seven a month
16:53
Speaker 2: and Wild, a wonderful classic rocker, are always there every year.
16:57
Speaker 2: And I love their slogan because their slogan is cold beer,
17:01
Speaker 2: good vibes and dogs everywhere. What more could you need,
17:05
Speaker 2: And that's pretty much what it is. And I was
17:08
Speaker 2: checking the schedule earlier. That's when college football is going
17:11
Speaker 2: to start getting ramped up. Not not so much for Marshall
17:13
Speaker 2: and WVU, but there are several big college football games
17:16
Speaker 2: on that day.
17:16
Speaker 3: So because of the.
17:17
Speaker 2: Red Carpet Lounge, they are going to have the screen,
17:21
Speaker 2: big screen's going with lots of college football on it
17:24
Speaker 2: as well, So you can check that out. And by
17:26
Speaker 2: the way, I'll just say, if you've never been to
17:28
Speaker 2: the Red Carpet in Charleston, then shame on you, because
17:32
Speaker 2: it's one of the coolest places in Charleston. It's iconic
17:36
Speaker 2: in fact, and of course you know all of the
17:38
Speaker 2: stories about all the capital deals that have gotten done
17:40
Speaker 2: at the Red Carpet and the whole motto what happens
17:44
Speaker 2: at the Carpet stays at the carpet, and it's kind
17:46
Speaker 2: of a you know, it's kind of a safe spot
17:50
Speaker 2: if you will. You know that people can exchange ideas
17:53
Speaker 2: off the record. A lot of reporters and whatnot have
17:55
Speaker 2: hung out there over the years. And of course they
17:57
Speaker 2: got the tiki bar outside as well. In the way
18:00
Speaker 2: that they do this, they have what they call the
18:03
Speaker 2: Cara Van and that's c A R E. A dash
18:07
Speaker 2: van with all of these animals that are up for adoption.
18:11
Speaker 2: And I can tell you a couple of years ago,
18:14
Speaker 2: there's a guy that I happened to know here in Charleston.
18:17
Speaker 3: That showed up at the event.
18:19
Speaker 2: Didn't know he was showing up to get a dog,
18:22
Speaker 2: and it just so happened that, yeah, he got a dog,
18:25
Speaker 2: and he still has the dog with him today. He
18:27
Speaker 2: adopted it that particular day. Because they have them there,
18:30
Speaker 2: they're in the air conditioned trailer, you can get them out,
18:33
Speaker 2: you can walk them, and so on and so forth,
18:35
Speaker 2: and it's just a great, great event, especially if you
18:38
Speaker 2: like animals. For the Charleston Humane Association. Now you can
18:41
Speaker 2: go online and get your tickets at adopt Charleston dot com.
18:46
Speaker 2: That's the official website for the Kanaal Charleston Humane Association.
18:50
Speaker 2: You can also check it out on social media as well.
18:53
Speaker 2: And again I apologize, we got a wires crossed some
18:55
Speaker 2: way or another.
18:56
Speaker 3: I thought the.
18:56
Speaker 2: Interview was today, but I guess it is not. With
18:58
Speaker 2: Amanda will have her back on the shows, we get
19:00
Speaker 2: a little bit closer. But I hope everybody can join
19:03
Speaker 2: us there. It's going to be August to twenty ninth
19:05
Speaker 2: at the annual Kegs for Canines event, and there's just
19:08
Speaker 2: a lot of really cool stuff that goes on there,
19:11
Speaker 2: so I really hope that you can join us there
19:14
Speaker 2: for that big event. We've been keeping a close eye
19:17
Speaker 2: on the weather and I want to bring in Metro
19:19
Speaker 2: News meteorologist Brian Hughes right now because Brian, it's been
19:24
Speaker 2: a little bit wicked. I told the listeners earlier this morning.
19:27
Speaker 2: I started, I guess it woke me up about three
19:30
Speaker 2: am this morning, and my wife will tell you it
19:32
Speaker 2: takes a lot to wake me up, and it takes
19:34
Speaker 2: even more to keep me from going back to sleep,
19:37
Speaker 2: which I didn't sleep a whole lot. Between about three
19:40
Speaker 2: and four point thirty in this morning, I just decided, well,
19:42
Speaker 2: I'm just gonna go ahead and get up, jump in
19:43
Speaker 2: the car, and I just missed all the heavy rain
19:45
Speaker 2: because by the time I hit Charleston about seven this morning,
19:48
Speaker 2: it was just raining buckets.
19:49
Speaker 3: I know, we had traffic issues and so.
19:51
Speaker 2: On and so forth with Rex and so what can
19:54
Speaker 2: you tell us what's the latest?
19:55
Speaker 4: Well, we do have a flashball morning to the Celin
19:56
Speaker 4: effect because a lot of this water is still washing
19:59
Speaker 4: out out of the re and right now, the thing
20:01
Speaker 4: that we're looking at at the moment is, you know,
20:04
Speaker 4: we've got a severe teniscial watch that's been issued well
20:07
Speaker 4: to our northwest and this includes parts of Carter Boyd
20:09
Speaker 4: Counties in Kentucky and you get into the sections of
20:12
Speaker 4: Lawrence County, Ohio and back to the northwest. But that
20:16
Speaker 4: is setting up the stage for what's going to be
20:18
Speaker 4: hearing later on today. Is we get close to the midday,
20:20
Speaker 4: we're gonna have more showers and storms that are gonna
20:22
Speaker 4: be moving through. There'll be that round for the midday
20:24
Speaker 4: early afternoon, and we've got another round that'll be the
20:27
Speaker 4: seeding into the night time hours. Here's what's happening. You've
20:30
Speaker 4: seen the rain. It's been going over the exact same
20:32
Speaker 4: area over and over and over again. We've got you know,
20:35
Speaker 4: the heavy the heavy rainfall, plus some of the wicked
20:39
Speaker 4: winds we had yesterday. We had a tornado warning cross
20:41
Speaker 4: parts of the Pomeroy area. Moving off to the southeast
20:44
Speaker 4: saw some of that that it was there was straight
20:47
Speaker 4: up funnel cloud that was working in its way across
20:49
Speaker 4: parts of southern Ohio. So you know, you've got so
20:51
Speaker 4: many hazards from the the tornado throat is very very low,
20:54
Speaker 4: but still one of those can happen if they're all
20:56
Speaker 4: by themselves. But we're just gonna see these storms over
20:59
Speaker 4: and over again.
21:00
Speaker 9: Matter of fact.
21:00
Speaker 3: That a matter of fact.
21:01
Speaker 4: Right now, it's still raining out at Southbridge, it's raining
21:04
Speaker 4: in southern Knaal County and Lincoln County back into Putnam County.
21:08
Speaker 4: So it's it's just not going to essentially stop for
21:10
Speaker 4: a number of days. When we do get the reprieval,
21:12
Speaker 4: it's going to be Saturday in the Sunday, but even in.
21:14
Speaker 9: A spotty shower chance as possible.
21:15
Speaker 4: So just if you live anywhere near creeks, uh creeks
21:20
Speaker 4: or streams, just know that you have got to keep
21:23
Speaker 4: an eye on things.
21:24
Speaker 9: Because those things are gonna come up pretty fast.
21:26
Speaker 4: We had that happen this morning with some of that
21:28
Speaker 4: very heavy rainfall, and then as we go into the
21:30
Speaker 4: rest of the rest of the week, it's not gonna stop.
21:33
Speaker 4: So uh, this is uh, this is a day you know,
21:36
Speaker 4: uh tonight into this evening tonight because actually I'll say this,
21:40
Speaker 4: I'm on the Charleston radar.
21:42
Speaker 9: This is very very rare.
21:44
Speaker 4: On the Charleston radar, we're picking up we're picking up
21:47
Speaker 4: rain showers all the way back up to uh north
21:49
Speaker 4: of Toledo.
21:50
Speaker 9: That's very very rare, very very rare.
21:52
Speaker 3: Is that far.
21:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, it's they're they're that tall, that they're that big.
21:57
Speaker 4: So we've got thunderstorms we have to watch. That's gonna
21:59
Speaker 4: be a lone line of storms, just so you know
22:01
Speaker 4: as we go into this afternoon. So we've got to
22:03
Speaker 4: keep our eyes on that because as I've said, I've
22:06
Speaker 4: said over the last couple of days, we're in a
22:08
Speaker 4: Duracho style pattern. I don't use that word lightly at all.
22:11
Speaker 4: It's a style pattern. It's not doesn't mean that there's
22:14
Speaker 4: a du ratio. It doesn't mean there's one, but it's
22:17
Speaker 4: the type of pattern that could produce one if you've
22:19
Speaker 4: got the if you've got one setting up way far
22:21
Speaker 4: to the northwest, and we've got one of those, it's
22:22
Speaker 4: up around Daton. Right now, we've got a line of storms.
22:25
Speaker 4: There are sereal thudstial mornings all along it. And right now,
22:29
Speaker 4: even if a look at those, they're looking at you know,
22:32
Speaker 4: the wind speeds that are associated with some of those
22:34
Speaker 4: storms right now are eighty miles per hour. That's a
22:37
Speaker 4: pretty good storm right there. Apround Springfield, Ohio, they've got
22:41
Speaker 4: windsor in excess of sixty.
22:42
Speaker 9: Miles per hour.
22:43
Speaker 4: So those are things we're watching. You know, it's going
22:46
Speaker 4: to be just a while week in the weather department.
22:48
Speaker 2: Well, and I saw some pictures a lot of people
22:49
Speaker 2: were posting last night about the hail that hit Mason County.
22:52
Speaker 2: I think the Mason County Fair is going on.
22:54
Speaker 9: Yeah, they did have it out there.
22:56
Speaker 3: I saw some people were posting some pictures.
22:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that golf ball size hell there last
23:00
Speaker 4: night and h and that was the one that was
23:02
Speaker 4: producing the potential tornado off to the north and west.
23:05
Speaker 4: And I saw some video on that this morning. So
23:08
Speaker 4: there's it's there's a lot of things happening, you know.
23:10
Speaker 4: It's it's interesting to see that everybody is just kind
23:15
Speaker 4: of the weather world. It's on pins and needles because
23:18
Speaker 4: we're talking all the way back up to Iowa to
23:21
Speaker 4: West Virginia. That's this is the corridor of severe weather
23:25
Speaker 4: and flash flooding for for the country.
23:27
Speaker 2: Did we uh have any high water issues? I know
23:30
Speaker 2: there was the alerts going off and so on and
23:32
Speaker 2: so forward. Do we have any specific high water issues.
23:35
Speaker 4: I actually actually went through some in the east of
23:37
Speaker 4: the capital in Canal City. We all said, uh, along Avenue,
23:41
Speaker 4: the the outfalls that go into the Canal River couldn't
23:44
Speaker 4: handle the water so much so the pressure was so
23:47
Speaker 4: high that they were acting the culverts, you know, the greats.
23:51
Speaker 4: They were acting like geyser's water was coming up. So
23:53
Speaker 4: it was it's big time draining, it.
23:56
Speaker 3: Said, than what it was. We didn't do we have
23:57
Speaker 3: any reports of any creek flooding.
23:59
Speaker 4: River flow, no careerver flooding to be reported at this time.
24:02
Speaker 4: But it is like you said, it was definitely what
24:05
Speaker 4: was happening with the water that just the outfahlls couldn't
24:09
Speaker 4: handle it. I mean, we can't big build bigger outfahls.
24:12
Speaker 4: It's just not possible anymore. We've got a city already constructed.
24:16
Speaker 4: So all right, if we could, we would take us
24:18
Speaker 4: through the rest of the day. Again, rest of day,
24:20
Speaker 4: we're gonna have some midday storms. Those are up there
24:23
Speaker 4: north of Sinsey back around Dayton right now. They're headed
24:25
Speaker 4: our way. We'll see those around the around the lunch hour.
24:28
Speaker 4: As we go into this afternoons evening, we'll see showers
24:30
Speaker 4: and storms again. Round six is this evening, maybe a
24:34
Speaker 4: touch after and so we'll have the next round of
24:35
Speaker 4: storms and those will go later into the night, and
24:38
Speaker 4: then we do expect another round tomorrow morning. The thing
24:40
Speaker 4: about these rounds of storms is you get you essentially
24:43
Speaker 4: get your batch of storms. They're gonna be with you
24:46
Speaker 4: four a couple hours, maybe two three hours, and then
24:48
Speaker 4: they're gone and we have a little bit of a
24:50
Speaker 4: break gap. Then we get another round of showers and
24:52
Speaker 4: storms another few three to four hours later that we'll
24:54
Speaker 4: have coming through. So this is going to be happening
24:56
Speaker 4: over and over again.
24:59
Speaker 3: Yeah. The thing Natalie Tenant, who's already had some, she
25:02
Speaker 3: just came in, uh with a run in. If we
25:04
Speaker 3: say in the resting business run in.
25:06
Speaker 7: Well, I'm not really tagged in because we're double team.
25:10
Speaker 6: Well.
25:10
Speaker 7: The only thing that I have is from Dame Dave Armstrong.
25:14
Speaker 7: I asked him about flooding. But it's exactly what you
25:16
Speaker 7: were saying as I walked in. It's nuisance flooding, clog
25:19
Speaker 7: drains and full ditch lines. And that's what I would
25:23
Speaker 7: say to folks. If you know that you are in
25:26
Speaker 7: an area where there's a drainage, and we always say
25:29
Speaker 7: blow your grass back onto your lawn and not out
25:32
Speaker 7: into the street. When I walk the dog, I always
25:34
Speaker 7: push it off the off the drain, So try to
25:36
Speaker 7: do that. But here's some other things that we are
25:40
Speaker 7: certainly passing along that if you live in a flood
25:43
Speaker 7: prone area and you know it, don't wait until the
25:46
Speaker 7: water surrounds your home to leave.
25:47
Speaker 4: Because when you wait, exactly it's too eight for some
25:51
Speaker 4: people to come make you time.
25:52
Speaker 7: So, yes, know the difference between watching a warning, that's
25:55
Speaker 7: your job.
25:57
Speaker 15: You know.
25:57
Speaker 4: The taco is the warning, the taco ingredient to the watch.
26:01
Speaker 4: So if you have all the ingredients for your taco,
26:04
Speaker 4: that's a watch. If you have a taco, that means
26:07
Speaker 4: you produced it all. So now you're up to a warning.
26:11
Speaker 7: Stomach.
26:12
Speaker 3: Okay, watch out for that letters too.
26:14
Speaker 2: I know exactly all right now, Brian, of course you
26:17
Speaker 2: can follow download the Metro News Television app, follow Brian,
26:19
Speaker 2: follow him on social media as well.
26:21
Speaker 3: We do want to mind you We have Brian.
26:22
Speaker 2: Hughes's page, but we also have the Metro News Television
26:25
Speaker 2: Weather page that.
26:26
Speaker 4: Has all the instant alerts you could you get to
26:28
Speaker 4: imagine and we're fine tuning that.
26:30
Speaker 9: We were constantly tweaking it.
26:31
Speaker 4: Matter of fact, I literally was writing code at midnight
26:34
Speaker 4: last night to help improve you know, the way things
26:37
Speaker 4: operate around here.
26:38
Speaker 9: So I'll probably go write some more code here in
26:40
Speaker 9: a few minutes.
26:40
Speaker 3: Well, well, you know how to live.
26:43
Speaker 6: I live.
26:44
Speaker 4: I live a wildlife writing code in the middle of
26:46
Speaker 4: the storms. Oh, we can make this weather.
26:48
Speaker 3: People are nuts anyway. Actually, you would dig that.
26:50
Speaker 4: I will say this when you see, when you see
26:52
Speaker 4: what I'm about to produce, you will go that's pretty cool.
26:54
Speaker 2: So all right, Well, if you need to jump back
26:57
Speaker 2: in here, we'll let you back on a little bit later.
26:58
Speaker 3: I think that's good.

30:24
Speaker 2: knows something about the Mountaineers.
30:27
Speaker 7: We had a great season four and seven in nineteen ninety.
30:30
Speaker 7: It's all right, all because of that girl mountaineer.
30:32
Speaker 3: Is that what it was?
30:33
Speaker 6: Yeah?
30:33
Speaker 7: Well, forget the fact that people all, well, people did
30:35
Speaker 7: blame that girl mountaineer because she was the first one
30:38
Speaker 7: sports fans do that exactly. But they forgot the fact
30:41
Speaker 7: that Major Harris left early. And imagine if he would
30:46
Speaker 7: have stayed, what that they wouldn't have even known there
30:48
Speaker 7: was a girl mountaineer.
30:49
Speaker 3: Now, were you on campus?
30:50
Speaker 2: I don't want to give away your age here, but
30:51
Speaker 2: when it's okay, but when you were you on campus?
30:53
Speaker 2: When when they had the magical season of eighty eight?
30:56
Speaker 2: Were you there yet?
30:57
Speaker 3: Okay?
30:58
Speaker 2: Well, the reason I ask is because I remember that well,
31:02
Speaker 2: a little bit younger than you, just a little bit,
31:04
Speaker 2: but I remember I was just getting into radio at
31:06
Speaker 2: that time, and I was, as we call it in
31:08
Speaker 2: the business, running the board for that Mountaineer season. And
31:11
Speaker 2: I remember our general manager at the radio station setting
31:14
Speaker 2: us down and saying that general manager of the radio
31:17
Speaker 2: station wasn't here. This is a love good russe Maguire
31:19
Speaker 2: was his name. But I remember Russ sitting down and saying, look,
31:23
Speaker 2: this Mountaineer team is going to be really, really good
31:26
Speaker 2: this season. All the games weren't on TV like they
31:29
Speaker 2: are now. There was no web or anything like that.
31:32
Speaker 2: They're on this radio station.
31:33
Speaker 3: If you screw this up, don't come back. That's literally.
31:38
Speaker 3: I sat there, Natalie, six hours running the WVU game,
31:41
Speaker 3: and I know we're on radio. You can't see this.
31:43
Speaker 2: I set there before what we used to call cart machines,
31:46
Speaker 2: which were.
31:47
Speaker 3: Like they looked like eight track, they looked.
31:49
Speaker 2: Like a track, sat there with my hand just like this.
31:51
Speaker 2: Didn't go to the bathroom, didn't eat or anything, because
31:54
Speaker 2: I was like, i am sitting here for six hours,
31:55
Speaker 2: and I'm not screwing this game up because I'm seventeen
31:57
Speaker 2: years old and I don't want to get fired.
31:59
Speaker 7: And you're here. You didn't screw it up, and you're
32:01
Speaker 7: going to the Hall of Fame.
32:02
Speaker 3: That's what they tell me.
32:02
Speaker 7: Yeah, you know what, the remember the machines that would
32:05
Speaker 7: erase those cart machines. You know, when you're a poor reporter,
32:10
Speaker 7: first year reporter, and you didn't have money back in
32:13
Speaker 7: those days. Remember the olden days when they had checks,
32:16
Speaker 7: we would we would try to demagnetize our checks. We
32:20
Speaker 7: would run that demagnetizer is that what it was called
32:23
Speaker 7: over our checks ca Yeah, carter rators. So it would
32:27
Speaker 7: take longer for the bank. They would have to hand
32:30
Speaker 7: input it, so the bank would take longer.
32:33
Speaker 13: Have money in there.
32:35
Speaker 7: Yeah, wbo Y. Brad Weaver taught me that I always
32:41
Speaker 7: remember things about your first job.
32:42
Speaker 3: I got it all right, all right.
32:44
Speaker 2: I want to talk about a couple of things in
32:45
Speaker 2: the news and then we'll turn it over to you
32:47
Speaker 2: talk about whatever you want to talk about. There's been
32:49
Speaker 2: a couple of big things, actually two or three that
32:51
Speaker 2: have made a lot of news recently. One of those
32:52
Speaker 2: was the clean Seas project in Bell old eighty four
32:56
Speaker 2: lumber location and the Valley North project that's two hundred
32:58
Speaker 2: and sixty mile high multi transmission line going from John
33:02
Speaker 2: Amos of the Frederick County, Maryland. Lots of discussion commission
33:05
Speaker 2: recently about let'st's start with the facility in Bell because
33:07
Speaker 2: there's been a lot of questions about that facility.
33:10
Speaker 7: There certainly are, and I'm really proud of the County Commission,
33:13
Speaker 7: and at the time it's just it's just Ben Selango
33:17
Speaker 7: and me and we have had some great public common
33:23
Speaker 7: They weren't public meetings in a sense officially called. They
33:25
Speaker 7: were the county commission meeting and anyone's invited to come
33:28
Speaker 7: and anybody can talk about what they want. And you know,
33:30
Speaker 7: some folks were willing to say, hey, we're coming to
33:34
Speaker 7: talk about this, and so we had prepared for it
33:36
Speaker 7: in terms of let's make time, let's ask questions, let's
33:40
Speaker 7: try to get both sides to this. So the clean
33:42
Speaker 7: Seas is the clean Seas plant that is over in
33:47
Speaker 7: the old Quincy well. It's in Quincy at the old
33:49
Speaker 7: eighty four lumber spot. And a year ago I went
33:53
Speaker 7: to the ribbon cutting for it where they showed us
33:58
Speaker 7: some of the pellets what they call fee stock. Now
34:00
Speaker 7: for a farm girl, that means a whole different thing.
34:03
Speaker 7: But feedstock was the plastic pellets that either would become
34:08
Speaker 7: or would be heated up. You can see. I've talked
34:12
Speaker 7: to both sides of folks who say, you know, the
34:14
Speaker 7: folks are against it, it's gonna burn. Well, when I
34:17
Speaker 7: talked to the to the business folks, the clean Cees folks,
34:22
Speaker 7: they say, we're not burning plastic because there's no oxygen
34:24
Speaker 7: to it, so there's no burn process. But it's called
34:27
Speaker 7: pi PI pri aalysis and there are some folks who
34:33
Speaker 7: are concerned about it. So they came to us and
34:36
Speaker 7: they asked us to, you know, write a letter to
34:39
Speaker 7: the Deep and it was, you know, that Thursday before
34:43
Speaker 7: it was due on that Monday, and so we just
34:44
Speaker 7: wrote Deep with some concerns. Now what I did, what
34:48
Speaker 7: I what we promised to do. There were three things
34:51
Speaker 7: that the Commission promised to do that the citizens had come.
34:54
Speaker 7: They were upset that there was not an air monitor
34:57
Speaker 7: that was in the eastern part of the county near Quincy.
35:01
Speaker 7: They said it was at Dixie Street. And we also
35:05
Speaker 7: had C. W. Sigmun who is our emergency director and
35:08
Speaker 7: he was up there at many of these meetings at
35:10
Speaker 7: clean Seas. So that was our first request from them.
35:14
Speaker 7: We called d EP, they will put a monitor up there.
35:17
Speaker 7: The second request was they were upset that our logo,
35:22
Speaker 7: the Canawa County Commission Condah County logo was on the
35:25
Speaker 7: clean Seas website in terms of being a partner. And
35:30
Speaker 7: I said, yes, I saw that too, and I wasn't
35:33
Speaker 7: too happy either because I said, and you know. I
35:36
Speaker 7: was in full transparency. I said, folks, I was at
35:39
Speaker 7: that ribbon cutting and I was there and they were like, oh,
35:42
Speaker 7: we know Natalie. We saw the pictures and I'm like, oh,
35:46
Speaker 7: they got pictures of Natalie. And I'm like, I'll take
35:49
Speaker 7: that one because I showed up to it. There are pictures,
35:52
Speaker 7: and maybe they thought because I showed up at ribbon cuttings.
35:55
Speaker 7: Now I go to a lot of ribbon cuttings. I'm
35:57
Speaker 7: going to the one today that you talked to Josh
35:59
Speaker 7: Stowers about because I want to support. So that was
36:03
Speaker 7: a promise to get that taken off. And I talked
36:07
Speaker 7: to John Yance. It's y O n Ce, but I
36:11
Speaker 7: think it's still pronounced Yance, not like the Yances that
36:14
Speaker 7: are here in Charleston. But I talked to him. He said,
36:17
Speaker 7: I can understand that Natalie will take that off. My
36:19
Speaker 7: second duty was to have people from the company, John Ynce,
36:27
Speaker 7: who is the vice president here for Charleston, and he
36:31
Speaker 7: promised that he would come and talk to some of
36:34
Speaker 7: the groups that have asked about this. So that is
36:39
Speaker 7: my next step in getting Citizens Action Group together. Morgan King,
36:43
Speaker 7: there's a gentleman named Eric Carruthers, who has made himself
36:47
Speaker 7: very known, and I see him a lot of the
36:49
Speaker 7: different meetings.
36:50
Speaker 3: Now show yesterday did.
36:53
Speaker 7: About me, I didn't say. I didn't hear it.
36:55
Speaker 3: Not a thing.
36:55
Speaker 2: It was on the show yesterday. You talked about a
36:57
Speaker 2: protest at the capitol. You have to deal with the
36:59
Speaker 2: transmission line. So he gave us a live update from there.
37:02
Speaker 3: But go ahead.
37:02
Speaker 7: I meant to go. I meant to go over there
37:04
Speaker 7: and say hello to folks. And that's right, And and
37:08
Speaker 7: he does back and forth. And now we have each
37:10
Speaker 7: other's cell phone, and he's gonna text me and and
37:13
Speaker 7: there's a woman named Marty Gibson. So anyway, I'm gonna
37:16
Speaker 7: pull those folks together because we have to have respectful
37:23
Speaker 7: dialogue back and forth. Because I had that with John,
37:26
Speaker 7: and of course I was only here on his side
37:28
Speaker 7: during the during the commission meeting, I was only here
37:31
Speaker 7: on the other side. And there there may be some
37:35
Speaker 7: misconceptions from both. So we've we've we've we've made our
37:40
Speaker 7: we've met our promises that we promised to folks. That
37:44
Speaker 7: was a long, a long story.
37:46
Speaker 2: We're talking to Kennaugh County Commissioner Natalie Tenth of a
37:49
Speaker 2: Dave Island show on five. That eline brought to you
37:50
Speaker 2: in part by the all New Generations Ford of Hurricane
37:52
Speaker 2: Visit Generations for dot Com transmission.
37:55
Speaker 3: Line was discussed at the last County Commissioner Sure.
37:58
Speaker 7: I loved that meeting. It was an hour and a
38:00
Speaker 7: half longest meeting I've ever had as a county commissioner.
38:04
Speaker 7: You know, there are some new there's some new changes.
38:06
Speaker 7: Ben Selango runs a great Kenowai County Mission Commission meeting,
38:11
Speaker 7: and we knew this was kind of going to be longer.
38:14
Speaker 7: We had. We had folks from Valley Link there. Now
38:21
Speaker 7: I want to put this out because everybody who was
38:23
Speaker 7: in that room, no, no, the behind the things PJM.
38:29
Speaker 7: I was trying to like, what, where, where what's PJM
38:31
Speaker 7: stand for? And people are like, I don't, I don't know.
38:34
Speaker 7: But it's the the the organization. It's called an LLC.
38:39
Speaker 7: It used to stand for someone told me Pennsylvania, Jersey
38:42
Speaker 7: and Maryland. But it is the entity that determines what
38:47
Speaker 7: is needed in the power grid and it represents thirteen
38:50
Speaker 7: states of which West Virginia is one is one of them,
38:55
Speaker 7: and it determined that there was a need for more Electricity,
39:00
Speaker 7: and then Valley Link is a collaboration. I don't think
39:05
Speaker 7: I don't have the all of their information. I don't
39:08
Speaker 7: think it's an LLC, but it's a collaboration among AEP
39:12
Speaker 7: which is called trans Source, First Energy and Dominion. So
39:16
Speaker 7: those three energy companies make up valley Link. Valley Link
39:22
Speaker 7: won the bid from what PJM determined, So this is
39:28
Speaker 7: why we have valley Link North and Alex Weld spoke
39:33
Speaker 7: and gave a lot of information, did a power point.
39:37
Speaker 7: I ask a lot of questions. Imagine that, you know,
39:39
Speaker 7: I'm always like and what about this? And she's like,
39:42
Speaker 7: it's in the next lit and I'm like, what about
39:44
Speaker 7: this in the next lot? Okay, So she spoke very respectful,
39:48
Speaker 7: and then citizens spoke who were very respectful, and you know,
39:52
Speaker 7: we were all just asking each of them the questions. Now,
39:56
Speaker 7: folks came in and I had to set you tell people,
40:01
Speaker 7: I play Devil's Advocate a lot, and I did, so
40:05
Speaker 7: I push back on what they were saying. I am
40:08
Speaker 7: a farm girl, a seventh generation tenant. I am fighting
40:12
Speaker 7: for two century farms that my family has and that
40:17
Speaker 7: a nephew would be able to call a century farm.
40:20
Speaker 7: But during a divorce, his wife got our land, our
40:24
Speaker 7: century farmland. So I'm extra raw about when we talk
40:30
Speaker 7: about land and we talk about what we do with
40:32
Speaker 7: our land. So that was a lot of the reasons
40:36
Speaker 7: that people did not want it. It's going to be
40:38
Speaker 7: on our land. You're going to take our farms. News
40:41
Speaker 7: You're not taking the farms, You're taking the two hundred
40:44
Speaker 7: feet maybe up to I don't think it's up to
40:47
Speaker 7: a thousand feet where these towers will go. And this
40:53
Speaker 7: is where I want to learn more. And this is
40:55
Speaker 7: why I'm going to go to John Amos power Plant
40:58
Speaker 7: and I'm hopeful. I was out there yesterday, but I
41:00
Speaker 7: I couldn't determine which ones was the were the seven
41:03
Speaker 7: sixty five voltage And I'm going to go stand under it.
41:06
Speaker 7: I'm going to go look at it. I'm going to
41:07
Speaker 7: take pictures so I can really see. Because the citizens
41:11
Speaker 7: who came to Canawac County want the Commission to write
41:16
Speaker 7: a resolution that says we're against it. How do I
41:19
Speaker 7: do that? How do I do that if I don't
41:21
Speaker 7: know all the other like, they don't want me to
41:23
Speaker 7: go and do a resolution that says I'm for it.
41:25
Speaker 7: Right if I don't have all the information.
41:28
Speaker 3: That's the way you should do it right.
41:30
Speaker 7: And it's the reporter in me that that pushes back
41:33
Speaker 7: that also, and it's it's you know, I don't know,
41:37
Speaker 7: how do you talk about yourself as a leader. It's
41:39
Speaker 7: the leader in me who is going to be asking
41:43
Speaker 7: the hard questions. It's the leader in me who's going
41:46
Speaker 7: to say, let's not cut off our nose to spite
41:49
Speaker 7: our face. Let's just not get all riled up if
41:52
Speaker 7: we don't know what's happening. Because then I'm up and
41:56
Speaker 7: down the inner from Marion County. So I'm up and
41:58
Speaker 7: down the interstate a lot. And I asked one woman,
42:01
Speaker 7: I said, how many cell phone towers did you see
42:04
Speaker 7: when you came down from Calhoun County? And she looked
42:09
Speaker 7: at me like I was like what, I didn't notice
42:12
Speaker 7: any of them? I said, do you see twenty five
42:16
Speaker 7: years ago we were up in arms because we were
42:18
Speaker 7: gonna have cell phone towers? Do you remember that? So
42:21
Speaker 7: now I drive up and down, there's like, I don't
42:24
Speaker 7: even know what the tower is. They don't look like
42:27
Speaker 7: cell phone towers to me. When I go up and
42:29
Speaker 7: down seventy nine, there's like three that I can see
42:33
Speaker 7: in one view, So I don't like. That's my question.
42:37
Speaker 7: It's like, what are we doing here? And if we
42:41
Speaker 7: don't have this, what's next? Because obviously there's a need
42:44
Speaker 7: for electricity, and people are like, but it's our electricity
42:47
Speaker 7: and we're gonna get nothing from it. Well, we've been
42:50
Speaker 7: sending electricity out with Pride, our West Virginia Cole lights
42:53
Speaker 7: the world or you know, lights whatever, and so we've
42:58
Speaker 7: been sending it out. Then then second they're like, we're
43:02
Speaker 7: it's somebody else. It's going we're not getting anything from it. Well,
43:05
Speaker 7: let's work to get something from it. Let's negotiate. Let's
43:09
Speaker 7: get roads put in, because I know what it's like
43:11
Speaker 7: to be on a farm when the natural gas companies
43:15
Speaker 7: come in. Let's negotiate good roads for our farms. Let's
43:19
Speaker 7: negotiate more money for that area that you're not really losing,
43:25
Speaker 7: you just you just maybe can't use it at that point.
43:27
Speaker 7: And that's what I want to learn more about too.
43:29
Speaker 7: We'll see if Natalie's hair gets curly when she goes
43:32
Speaker 7: under the.
43:33
Speaker 3: John Amos talk to TJ. Meadows about this. He's all
43:36
Speaker 3: things energy. He can explain it all to you.
43:39
Speaker 7: Well, I'm getting it. It's not it's not. I don't
43:41
Speaker 7: need the energy explained to me. We have to we
43:44
Speaker 7: have to listen to what people are afraid.

46:57
Speaker 2: is here in Commissioner Commission.
47:00
Speaker 3: You may kind of reference it earlier.
47:01
Speaker 2: You folks are down a member because Lance Wheeler stepped
47:03
Speaker 2: down to take over the ambulance service, and you and
47:06
Speaker 2: commission President Solango and now got decisions to make on
47:10
Speaker 2: who the next commissioner is going to be.
47:12
Speaker 7: Yes, we do, and we couldn't get it done. On
47:15
Speaker 7: July twenty third, that was the meeting with the clean
47:18
Speaker 7: Sees folks because we had different folks and I realized
47:20
Speaker 7: I should have put my nomination out there, but that
47:23
Speaker 7: was too late. It's too late now. So I just
47:26
Speaker 7: think the Kanah Republican Committee gets to gets to give
47:31
Speaker 7: us names, and really.
47:32
Speaker 3: So when is the next meeting that will decide that?
47:34
Speaker 7: The twenty seventh, twelve.
47:35
Speaker 2: Seventh and so basically, since since you you guys couldn't
47:37
Speaker 2: come up with an agreement so basically the Executive Committee
47:41
Speaker 2: will then submit it's three.
47:44
Speaker 7: And I have a feeling they have them because I
47:47
Speaker 7: saw a couple press releases. One they were saying they
47:50
Speaker 7: were taking applications until the fourth of August, and then
47:54
Speaker 7: two I saw their other press release where they weren't
47:56
Speaker 7: happy with Commissioner Natalie Tennant. But you know, they're the
48:01
Speaker 7: ones who get to do this. And when I did,
48:03
Speaker 7: I said, I looked at what precedent had been done
48:06
Speaker 7: in Knawakah, and that's what I was going to ask you.
48:08
Speaker 7: I mean, maybe better off the year I don't know,
48:11
Speaker 7: but but you know, back in twenty twenty four, we
48:14
Speaker 7: had to the commission at that time had two opportunities
48:19
Speaker 7: in appointing someone. When there was a vacancy in the
48:24
Speaker 7: county Commission, they did not appoint the person who won
48:26
Speaker 7: the primary election, and in the Prosecutor's office they did
48:31
Speaker 7: appoint the person who won the primary election. So I
48:33
Speaker 7: was like, what what precedent do I take? Well, we
48:35
Speaker 7: got a bunch of them, so let's go with the
48:37
Speaker 7: third one.
48:38
Speaker 3: A and B, A and B and you took J Yeah, yeah.
48:43
Speaker 7: Yeah, I mean, but it's it's it's interesting and it's like,
48:47
Speaker 7: you know, it's it's good. People don't realize it's okay
48:51
Speaker 7: to be in tough situations. It's okay to be squeezed
48:54
Speaker 7: a little bit, because then you really learn how someone is.
48:59
Speaker 7: And so I know, I'm squeezed and I'm in a
49:02
Speaker 7: tough situation. I thought about that. I've thought about this,
49:07
Speaker 7: you know, especially with the with the Valley Link. I've certainly,
49:12
Speaker 7: you know, I woke up one morning and I'm like,
49:14
Speaker 7: what about the what about the bald eagles? Natalie, It's like, well,
49:17
Speaker 7: how many bald eagles? I know there's a lot of
49:19
Speaker 7: bald there's some over in uh normad or Montgomery clear
49:23
Speaker 7: on down there, a little bit over there, a little bit.
49:26
Speaker 7: What's it going to do to the bald eagles? I mean,
49:28
Speaker 7: folks think that I'm I'm I'm thinking all the way
49:31
Speaker 7: around on this, and so are the people. So is
49:34
Speaker 7: Valley Link. They don't need. And that's the other thing.
49:37
Speaker 7: They don't have a true route yet. The route is
49:40
Speaker 7: going to be determined. Well, it's going to be narrowed
49:42
Speaker 7: down in November.
49:44
Speaker 2: Say they wanted to have it completed I think by
49:46
Speaker 2: early next year, but maybe they want to get it
49:48
Speaker 2: done in November and have it ready to go.
49:49
Speaker 7: Or right well, to have to have more open houses. Heck,
49:52
Speaker 7: it might not even go through Kanawa County. I don't know.
49:56
Speaker 7: And so they still want to hear from folks and
50:00
Speaker 7: they haven't shut people out. There's been twenty three across
50:03
Speaker 7: the whole region. Twenty three open houses. Well yeah, I
50:09
Speaker 7: was up there in Cisonville. There's some in Putnam County also,
50:13
Speaker 7: and folks are mad. It's like, you know, they paid
50:16
Speaker 7: us go from place to place. Well, heck yeah, because
50:18
Speaker 7: you're an expert on your one thing construction. Somebody else
50:22
Speaker 7: was the expert on easement, and right away someone was
50:25
Speaker 7: the expert on how much money or landowners going to
50:31
Speaker 7: receive for doing this. And so that's why I just
50:34
Speaker 7: thought that was kind of cool. But I'm willing to
50:38
Speaker 7: take the hits. I'm willing to have to make the
50:41
Speaker 7: tough decisions because I don't want us. I want us
50:45
Speaker 7: to be an improv You know how, when you do improv,
50:48
Speaker 7: it's supposed to be yes and or this is your situation,
50:52
Speaker 7: the needs to and and not just a no. You
50:55
Speaker 7: can't do improv if someone says no, good way to
50:59
Speaker 7: put it if you ever done improv I have not. Well, okay,
51:03
Speaker 7: that's because you might have said no insteady yes.
51:06
Speaker 2: Although look Dave Allen showing five that he line brought

51:36
Speaker 7: you'll notice that the I think I've talked about this before,

51:54
