Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: Mays, Haliburton is ready to go, so we do want
- 0:02Speaker 1: to talk to him about game two here, Tyres, thanks
- 0:05Speaker 1: a lot for joining us. We appreciate you.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Free for your dad, for your dad pops those backwards man.
- 0:14Speaker 1: So h, here's here's a question for you. Look, you guys,
- 0:18Speaker 1: uh six and one on the road, impressive seven and
- 0:21Speaker 1: zero in clutch games. Tell me what goes into that?
- 0:26Speaker 1: How how do you stay undefeated in clutch time in
- 0:29Speaker 1: these five point games five minutes or less? And how
- 0:32Speaker 1: much of it is a state of mind? And doing
- 0:35Speaker 1: it also in a building like this that is so loud.
- 0:40Speaker 3: Uh Yeah, I think preparation and experience. I think, you know,
- 0:43Speaker 3: I think we prepare for these moments. We've been involved
- 0:45Speaker 3: in a lot of funky games and the year just
- 0:48Speaker 3: figuring out how the way win in so many different ways.
- 0:50Speaker 3: And even in the playoffs, we've had to figure out
- 0:52Speaker 3: how to win in so.
- 0:52Speaker 2: Many different ways like game one. And when I say experience,
- 0:55Speaker 2: I don't. I'm not acting. I'm not saying act like
- 0:57Speaker 2: I'm a vetter.
- 0:57Speaker 3: So I'm just saying we've uh we as a group,
- 1:00Speaker 3: we've been together, you know, I think in the NBA
- 1:02Speaker 3: right now, it's it's so common for heavy roster turnover
- 1:06Speaker 3: from year to year, and I think after last year,
- 1:09Speaker 3: the front office did a great job of keeping this
- 1:11Speaker 3: group together and we just experienced so many different things together, winning, losing,
- 1:14Speaker 3: figuring out how to win in many ways, figuring out
- 1:17Speaker 3: how to you know, how we're losing, and how to
- 1:19Speaker 3: correct that. So yeah, I think that those are the
- 1:22Speaker 3: big two things.
- 1:22Speaker 4: Tyra Shack hero O, you an apology during an interview
- 1:25Speaker 4: with Reg's a lot of little bit too much giggling.
- 1:28Speaker 5: For me.
- 1:28Speaker 4: I was like, I want these guys to be serious,
- 1:30Speaker 4: and you guys were serious of what was said to
- 1:32Speaker 4: the guys and having that killer instinct and you know,
- 1:35Speaker 4: getting this win tonight.
- 1:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I think just coming out here and understanding what
- 1:39Speaker 3: we were getting into. I think after you take a
- 1:41Speaker 3: game like Game one, you understand that they're gonna come
- 1:43Speaker 3: into the game probably a little frustrated, didn't.
- 1:45Speaker 2: Feel like they should have.
- 1:45Speaker 3: They probably don't feel like they should have lost Game one.
- 1:47Speaker 3: I feel like they gave it away. So we knew
- 1:48Speaker 3: they were gonna hemp up the physicality and played with
- 1:51Speaker 3: some pace.
- 1:51Speaker 2: But I think the.
- 1:52Speaker 3: Biggest thing for us as a group was don't wait
- 1:53Speaker 3: for them to throw the first punch. Let's throw the
- 1:54Speaker 3: first punch and then roll from there. And I thought
- 1:56Speaker 3: we did a good job of that. You know, I
- 1:58Speaker 3: think we just are doing a good job just locking in,
- 2:00Speaker 3: taking it play by play, quarter by quarter, and you know,
- 2:03Speaker 3: it's leading good things for us.
- 2:05Speaker 5: Tyres as the as the playmaker on this team, the
- 2:08Speaker 5: guy who's getting everybody involved. How is it playing with
- 2:11Speaker 5: Pascal where y'all don't call him many sets for him?
- 2:15Speaker 5: But you know, during that fourth quarter, it was kind
- 2:18Speaker 5: of a stretch where he wasn't getting the ball and
- 2:20Speaker 5: then finding him to get him back because his office
- 2:22Speaker 5: is so random, it comes from.
- 2:24Speaker 2: All over all over the place.
- 2:26Speaker 5: How are you, as a point guard finding him in
- 2:28Speaker 5: these situations to make sure he stays involved in the office,
- 2:31Speaker 5: although y'all don't run any sets for him.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Yeah, to be honest, I was pretty trash at that. Today.
- 2:35Speaker 3: I gotta do a batter job getting the rock, especially
- 2:36Speaker 3: when he's cooking like that. You know, I think down
- 2:39Speaker 3: the stretch, I gotta do a better job of getting
- 2:41Speaker 3: in the ball. But he made so many big plays,
- 2:43Speaker 3: big shot after big shot, you know, and I got
- 2:46Speaker 3: to do a better job. That's I wasn't great at
- 2:47Speaker 3: that today, But you know, I think it's I think
- 2:50Speaker 3: that's part of basketball. It's not linear success, you know,
- 2:52Speaker 3: and it's not linear growth, and it's not always going
- 2:54Speaker 3: to be. You know, this this great facilitating game. I
- 2:57Speaker 3: have games where I'm not very good at that, So
- 3:00Speaker 3: I had to do a better job of that. I'll
- 3:01Speaker 3: do a better job.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Lay in game three. But man, he was unbelievable today.
- 3:03Speaker 3: We had a lot of different guys step up, and man,
- 3:05Speaker 3: it really started with him.
- 3:07Speaker 6: Well, you know Tyres as an overrated point guard. No, seriously,
- 3:12Speaker 6: you know there are things that you have to come
- 3:15Speaker 6: to the arena and say. You know, as a point guard,
- 3:17Speaker 6: we used to say, well, there's three.
- 3:19Speaker 7: Things you gotta do for me.
- 3:20Speaker 6: I as I say, I'm going to push the ball
- 3:22Speaker 6: as fast as I can. I'm gonna make sure I
- 3:23Speaker 6: make great entry passes. I'm gonna run into my shot.
- 3:26Speaker 6: Those are the three things. I'm like, I got to
- 3:27Speaker 6: do that every day. What are the three things that
- 3:29Speaker 6: you say for this team? Because it isn't always scoring
- 3:32Speaker 6: that you say I gotta do these three tonight.
- 3:35Speaker 3: Yeah, I think obviously get guys involved, right, I think
- 3:41Speaker 3: consistent conversation with the coaching staff, seeing what they're seeing.
- 3:44Speaker 2: You know, I thought we did.
- 3:45Speaker 3: A poor job in the first half of getting downhill.
- 3:47Speaker 3: You know, we were living in a long twos and
- 3:49Speaker 3: Pascal was bailing us out a lot of the time.
- 3:51Speaker 3: But I thought we had a lot of different guys
- 3:52Speaker 3: step up and just trying to keep that consistent conversation.
- 3:56Speaker 2: And then I think defensively for me, just trying to
- 3:59Speaker 2: do the best I can.
- 3:59Speaker 3: You know, I think if I'm doing my job on
- 4:01Speaker 3: that end, being solid, you know, it's easier for guys
- 4:04Speaker 3: to hold me accountable. And I think that also gives
- 4:06Speaker 3: me more equity to hold guys accountable if I'm you know,
- 4:08Speaker 3: doing my job there and helping out and just doing
- 4:10Speaker 3: the best I can on that end. So those are
- 4:12Speaker 3: the biggest things for me. And at the end of
- 4:14Speaker 3: they just figure out ways to win. Just figure out
- 4:16Speaker 3: ways to win, you know. I think that that starts
- 4:17Speaker 3: with me at the point guard position, and then yeah, yeah,
- 4:21Speaker 3: to try to win games.
- 4:22Speaker 7: You know, I don't think you guys came out to
- 4:24Speaker 7: play tonight. I thought y'all came out flat lack of
- 4:27Speaker 7: days ago, because if you actually look the only guy
- 4:30Speaker 7: played well the first half was Pascal, So I thought
- 4:33Speaker 7: y'all came out like we got to split. What happened
- 4:38Speaker 7: at halftime? They say something, Somebody says something to guys,
- 4:42Speaker 7: let's get greedy Pascal because he's the only one played
- 4:45Speaker 7: good in the first half. Yeah, does somebody say something halftime, guys,
- 4:49Speaker 7: let's get off our ass and go well.
- 4:51Speaker 3: I mean, I think the biggest thing the conversation at
- 4:53Speaker 3: halftime was we probably played one of our worst halves
- 4:56Speaker 3: of the playoffs outside of the Cleveland game. Cleveland Game three,
- 4:59Speaker 3: that's probably one of our wors. We're only down three, Yeah,
- 5:01Speaker 3: so you know, I think for us it was like, hey,
- 5:04Speaker 3: nobody's playing good right now except for p you know,
- 5:06Speaker 3: so everybody, let's join the party. You know, Pe appreciate it.
- 5:09Speaker 3: Let's keep it going, keep doing what you're doing. But
- 5:11Speaker 3: you know, when you're have played such a terrible half
- 5:13Speaker 3: like that and you're only down three, I think that
- 5:15Speaker 3: gives you a lot of confidence. And I thought we
- 5:17Speaker 3: did a great job coming out in the third quarter.
- 5:19Speaker 3: We started the fourth quarter well, you know, I thought
- 5:21Speaker 3: we did a great job of that. But yeah, yeah,
- 5:23Speaker 3: I agree with you. Nobody nobody was good in the
- 5:25Speaker 3: first half.
- 5:25Speaker 5: Hey, Tyree, I'm a big boxing fan, and you see
- 5:28Speaker 5: in a lot of these big fights, when a guy
- 5:31Speaker 5: take their best shot and it does nothing to them,
- 5:33Speaker 5: they just keep pressing for it. And I feel like
- 5:36Speaker 5: that's how y'all looked out out there tonight, Like as
- 5:38Speaker 5: y'all mine say, you know, we've taken their best shot,
- 5:40Speaker 5: we know we can take their best shot, let's keep
- 5:42Speaker 5: pressing for it.
- 5:43Speaker 2: Well, I think just trying to take it to play
- 5:45Speaker 2: the time, bro.
- 5:45Speaker 3: I think you know, this team, similar to us, has
- 5:48Speaker 3: had to find ways to win and make different ways.
- 5:50Speaker 3: You see last series they had like two twenty point
- 5:52Speaker 3: comebacks or whatever the case was. So they're very similar
- 5:55Speaker 3: to us, where you know, you never stopped playing. He
- 5:57Speaker 3: never can relax because Jaylen starts making shots and those
- 6:00Speaker 3: other guys get in on the rebounds and crash and
- 6:02Speaker 3: get extra shots, and everybody gets going, and the crowd
- 6:04Speaker 3: gets into it, you know, and the billion celebrities that
- 6:07Speaker 3: are here or whatever.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Everybody gets into the game.
- 6:10Speaker 3: So I think we just got to do a good
- 6:12Speaker 3: job of taking it, you know, play by play to
- 6:14Speaker 3: the best of our ability. But yeah, I think that
- 6:17Speaker 3: that you definitely have to look at it like that sometimes,
- 6:19Speaker 3: But honestly, it's like until clock hads zero. This team's
- 6:22Speaker 3: very similar to us, and the fact that you know
- 6:24Speaker 3: the game's not over till it's over.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Got one more ty resent. I appreciate your patience as
- 6:28Speaker 1: you face this long line of questioning, but we have
- 6:30Speaker 1: an extra guide, Framond Green here on the set, and
- 6:33Speaker 1: I don't want you to miss the bus. But you
- 6:35Speaker 1: did this against Cleveland too, Yeah, you know, won the
- 6:38Speaker 1: first two and then you got one home thing got way?
- 6:41Speaker 1: Yeah yeah, So how do you prevent that this time?
- 6:43Speaker 1: And how much discussion will there be about that? Yeah?
- 6:45Speaker 2: I think that's the main conversation right now.
- 6:47Speaker 3: You know, I think, uh, you coming here, you steal too,
- 6:49Speaker 3: which is a you know, a great thing.
- 6:51Speaker 2: Uh, but you can't relax when you get home. And
- 6:52Speaker 2: I feel like last series we did that.
- 6:54Speaker 3: Uh So I thought we had a great conversation there
- 6:56Speaker 3: after the game about it. We got to lock in
- 6:58Speaker 3: and take care of game three. Everybody was twenty five
- 7:00Speaker 3: hundreds on the same day, so we'll have some some.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Rowdy fans, maybe a little intoxicated. Who knows how we'll
- 7:05Speaker 2: get out there. Uh. You know it'll be It'll be
- 7:08Speaker 2: a lot of fun. Uh.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I think they call it pacers and Racers. You know,
- 7:11Speaker 3: it's my first time experiencing it, so it'll be a
- 7:13Speaker 3: lot of fun.
- 7:14Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to it.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Congratulations on the second win here at the Garden and
- 7:18Speaker 1: a two nothing lead in the series. Congratulations, man, thanks
- 7:21Speaker 1: a lot for spending the time.
- 7:22Speaker 3: Yes, sir, Chuck, Chuck, what did you say you're gonna
