- 0:00Podcastheroes.com Welcome to The Daily Quote, a podcast designed
- 0:07to kick start your day in a positive way.
- 0:11I'm your host, Andrew Mcgibburn for December 1st.
- 0:14Today is National Eat a Red Apple Day.
- 0:17Simple and direct. Just eat an apple.
- 0:21And not just any apple, a red apple.
- 0:24Why does it have to be a red apple?
- 0:27Because green Granny Smith apples have their own day,
- 0:31that's why. And that brings us to today's
- 0:34quote from an unknown author. An old Welsh proverb says an
- 0:39apple a day keeps that doctor away.
- 0:43That saying goes back to 1866 whales.
- 0:47Maybe different phrasing, but the same truth.
- 0:51Apples are good for you. Apples have high fiber content
- 0:55and antioxidants like quercetin and polyphenols, which support
- 0:59heart health, digestion, and disease prevention.
- 1:03Apples reduce the risk of heart disease by helping reduce
- 1:06cholesterol and blood pressure and reduces stroke risk too.
- 1:10And the quercetin in apples helps lower type 2 diabetes
- 1:13risk, possibly reducing risk by up to 18%.
- 1:18Pectin fiber acts as a prebiotic promoting beneficial gut
- 1:23bacteria. And Apple's combat oxidative
- 1:26stress, inflammation and also help prevent certain cancers
- 1:30like lung and breast cancer, according to research.
- 1:35So maybe this quote actually can be taken literally.
- 1:40But here's the real point. Simple habits matter, like
- 1:44eating an apple, drinking water, walking and sleep.
- 1:50Health isn't complicated, we just tend to make it
- 1:54complicated. So today, eat a red apple and
- 1:59that's it. Notice how simple health can be
- 2:02when you stop overthinking it. 1 apple one day, start there.
- 2:10That's going to do it for today. I'm Andrew McGivern, signing off
- 2:12for now, but I'll be back tomorrow.
- 2:18Same pod time, same pod station with another daily quote.
