Speaker 3: the show. First time he's been on in the Wild
• 2:14
Speaker 3: easton studio. It's so Charleston, Marre Frankmondins Junior. How you doing, sir?
• 2:18
Speaker 7: Going fine? Thank you, Thanks for having me, Thank you.
• 2:20
Speaker 3: For being here. All right, So we got roundabout now Charleston,
• 2:25
Speaker 3: South Charleston. I'm picturing that there's still somebody who's still
• 2:29
Speaker 3: going around on the circle. They've been there since like
• 2:31
Speaker 3: last Thursday, trying to get out of it. How's it gone? Overall?
• 2:34
Speaker 3: We have all seen the post about it, the videos
• 2:36
Speaker 3: and so on and so forth. But how's it going.
• 2:38
Speaker 7: I've seen some videos too that were kind of funny.
• 2:40
Speaker 7: But for the most part, I think it's going really well,
• 2:42
Speaker 7: you know. And I just came through there by the
• 2:43
Speaker 7: way and everything was fine. Nobody was lost or going
• 2:45
Speaker 7: in circles. Everything was good. I got here pretty quickly,
• 2:48
Speaker 7: so I think overall it's going well. Actually, you know,
• 2:50
Speaker 7: obviously there's a learning curve for some folks, and it's
• 2:52
Speaker 7: a little bit intimidating for others, But for the most part,
• 2:55
Speaker 7: I think it's going well. And man, what a great
• 2:58
Speaker 7: what a great relief it is not to have those
• 3:00
Speaker 7: stop lights there anymore. I mean, I'm somebody that goes
• 3:01
Speaker 7: through there four or five times a day, and it's
• 3:03
Speaker 7: just a big relief to me.
• 3:04
Speaker 3: I'm sure to a lot of people. That's none of
• 3:06
Speaker 3: the three hours you can add to your schedule. D
• 3:08
Speaker 3: A lot of truth in that, Yes, sir, how's the
• 3:10
Speaker 3: project gone overall? I mean the whole widening project, I think.
• 3:13
Speaker 7: It's going pretty well. You know, it's a state project,
• 3:15
Speaker 7: but we had we had obviously had some input in
• 3:17
Speaker 7: the very beginning, particularly for what they call flyover I
• 3:19
Speaker 7: called overpass over railroad tracks, and I think overall it's
• 3:22
Speaker 7: done pretty well. And I know there's some folks that's
• 3:24
Speaker 7: what I call unavoidable inconvenience is when you're doing something
• 3:27
Speaker 7: like this as this kind of a major project. But
• 3:29
Speaker 7: I think overall, I got to give kudos the Highways
• 3:31
Speaker 7: and the cook cohosting. I think, you know, for being
• 3:34
Speaker 7: one of the highest traffic council in state of West Virginia.
• 3:36
Speaker 7: They've done a pretty good job.
• 3:37
Speaker 3: I think people. And it's interesting you mentioned that, Mayor
• 3:39
Speaker 3: because I think people failed to realize how much traffic
• 3:42
Speaker 3: actually goes through that entire area.
• 3:44
  Speaker 7: Yeah, it's it's it's it's big. I mean, like I say,
• 3:46
Speaker 7: it's one of the highest and out on Route sixty,
• 3:48
Speaker 7: it's the highest count in West Virginia. So the bunch there,
• 3:51
Speaker 7: I think Secretary of Riston said it well when he
• 3:53
Speaker 7: was still there to beginning his project. He said, heck,
• 3:55
Speaker 7: it was tough to get through there before we started,
• 3:57
Speaker 7: you know, so so it was a channel formed. I
• 4:00
Speaker 7: think again, overall, i'd like to give them some kudos
• 4:02
Speaker 7: cause i think they've done a pretty good job considering.
• 4:04
Speaker 3: Yeah, and let's go back to the roundabouts from but because,
• 4:07
Speaker 3: I mean, you had put it out there that you know,
• 4:09
Speaker 3: these roundabouts were gonna happen, and we got, you know,
• 4:12
Speaker 3: calls to the show, text to the show. People either
• 4:14
Speaker 3: love them or hate them, like you said, there there's
• 4:15
Speaker 3: no in between, and a lot of times there's a
• 4:17
Speaker 3: learning curve. These are quite common in various areas, even
• 4:20
Speaker 3: I mean the first time that I really encountered a
• 4:23
Speaker 3: lot was in Florida.
• 4:24
  Speaker 7: Yeah.
• 4:24
Speaker 3: But but but they they're everywhere and even in West
• 4:29
Speaker 3: Virginia there, so yeah, they are.
• 4:30
Speaker 7: There's some up north, Firmloat Morgantown have some up in
• 4:32
Speaker 7: that area, and so this is the first one obviously here,
• 4:35
Speaker 7: but not down south. They have a few. I just
• 4:36
Speaker 7: came back from Hilton Vay case from my wife a
• 4:38
Speaker 7: couple of weeks ago, and they have them down. They're
• 4:39
Speaker 7: all over the place. So and though there'll be more
• 4:42
Speaker 7: commonplace because I think what they do is that it's
• 4:44
Speaker 7: they allow for a continuous flow of traffic, which is
• 4:46
Speaker 7: which is really what we needed in that area. Continuous
• 4:49
Speaker 7: flow of traffic and a lot of us starting stopping. And
• 4:51
Speaker 7: I know people say, well, look, traffic still backs up
• 4:53
Speaker 7: when it does, but remember we're not done yet either.
• 4:55
Speaker 7: Some lanes that still need to be open. I think
• 4:57
Speaker 7: it's improved the traffic flow right now. You still do
• 5:00
Speaker 7: have some backups when you have high traffic times a day,
• 5:03
Speaker 7: but at the end of the day, there are still
• 5:05
Speaker 7: still some lanes that need to be open. And once
• 5:07
Speaker 7: those lanes are open, I think you'll see a significant
• 5:08
Speaker 7: difference at least I hope so in the traffic flow.
• 5:11
Speaker 7: And I think you've seen the difference already.
• 5:12
Speaker 3: To be honest with you, we got a text here
• 5:14
Speaker 3: said someone said, ask when the final completion date is
• 5:18
Speaker 3: and when everything will be up.
• 5:19
Speaker 7: That's a good question. I've been told by the end
• 5:21
Speaker 7: of the summer. Those dates are always hard to keep,
• 5:24
Speaker 7: you know, especially with Park Place, with Jefferson Road, these
• 5:27
Speaker 7: dates keep flying up and keep saying we'll be done
• 5:29
Speaker 7: by here. This is going to happen by there, and
• 5:31
Speaker 7: it's always a moving target. So take everything with a
• 5:33
Speaker 7: grain of salt. But I've been told everything should be
• 5:35
Speaker 7: completed by the end of the by the end of
• 5:37
  Speaker 7: this summer.
• 5:38
Speaker 3: And sometimes mayor as you well know, there's so many
• 5:40
Speaker 3: things that are out there in control. They are from
• 5:41
Speaker 3: the weather to supply chain issues and so on and
• 5:45
Speaker 3: so on. I mean, sometimes things are just completely well
• 5:47
Speaker 3: you get to nail on the head.
• 5:48
Speaker 7: We're going through that with park Place now, trying to
• 5:50
Speaker 7: get you know, Kroger's a schedule to start. And by
• 5:52
Speaker 7: the way, if people don't know, the groundbreaking is the
• 5:54
Speaker 7: thirtieth of this month, and start construction supposed to be
• 5:57
Speaker 7: the twenty eight. They probably would have started a month
• 5:58
Speaker 7: ago if mother nature were to cooperate. We've got to
• 6:00
Speaker 7: get the pad certified. At the end of the day,
• 6:02
Speaker 7: everything's done. We're just waiting for the mother nature to say, hey,
• 6:05
Speaker 7: can we drive a truck over without sinking? And once
• 6:07
Speaker 7: that happens, you'll see construction starts. So that's going to
• 6:09
Speaker 7: be a really, really, really big deal for us and
• 6:12
Speaker 7: for the valley as a whole. Wife I'm sure.
• 6:14
Speaker 3: Well, and again what a difference of year makes because
• 6:17
Speaker 3: as one of our meteorologist friends we had on the
• 6:19
Speaker 3: show on Metro News Midday said, this time last year,
• 6:21
Speaker 3: we couldn't buy rain. Yeah, you know, it's a certain something,
• 6:24
Speaker 3: and now we got what. We got way too much.
• 6:26
Speaker 7: I was just having that discussion as we're standing down
• 6:28
Speaker 7: their mud deep ankle deep in mud. You know, last
• 6:31
Speaker 7: year we couldn't it was a drought around here. Now
• 6:33
Speaker 7: we're dealing with this. But that's the way it works.
• 6:34
Speaker 7: Life's about balance, right, Yeah, So let's talk about the
• 6:38
  Speaker 7: park place.
• 6:39
Speaker 3: So, uh, what any any news since the last time
• 6:41
Speaker 3: you were on the show about that?
• 6:42
Speaker 7: Yeah, since the last time I've been on the show.
• 6:43
  Speaker 7: I don't know how much. I mean I have, some
• 6:45
Speaker 7: of it's already been out there again. Like I said,
• 6:47
Speaker 7: the Kroger Marketplace will be the first one in the
• 6:48
Speaker 7: state of West Virginia and from and.
• 6:50
Speaker 3: When what's the difference? Man me to interrupt here, what's
• 6:51
Speaker 3: the difference between a Kroger marketplace and a regular Parker place?
• 6:54
Speaker 7: Is kind of like I caught like a like a
• 6:56
Speaker 7: Kroger on steroids. They sell more than just groceries, you
• 6:58
Speaker 7: know what I mean. It's almost like a mini Wallmullo.
• 7:00
Speaker 7: They're still they're still a very high percentage tilted obviously
• 7:03
Speaker 7: towards a grocery. Look, it's a grocery store, right, but
• 7:05
Speaker 7: they do sell other products. If you've been to any
• 7:08
Speaker 7: of that, I've been to one down South and again,
• 7:10
Speaker 7: one section of it will look like a small Walmart
• 7:12
Speaker 7: for example, on the house to describe it, we'll have
• 7:13
Speaker 7: a variety of different retail items the purchase. But that's
• 7:16
Speaker 7: what it is to give everybody kind of a good,
• 7:19
Speaker 7: good visual visual. The Kroger at Riverwalk now in South
• 7:22
Speaker 7: Charleston is approximately fifty thousand square foot store. This one's
• 7:25
Speaker 7: going to be one hundred and twenty thousand square foot store.
• 7:28
Speaker 7: So that kind of gives you an idea of the
• 7:30
Speaker 7: difference in size and difference in inventory. You're gonna be
• 7:33
Speaker 7: able to go there in and there in have So
• 7:34
Speaker 7: we're excited about it.
• 7:35
Speaker 3: Talking again with the South Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins junior
• 7:38
Speaker 3: of a Dave Island show in five eighty live. It's
• 7:40
Speaker 3: presented in part by Generations Physical Therapy, the leading provider
• 7:43
Speaker 3: of outpatient PT in the Tri State for nearly thirty years.
• 7:46
Speaker 3: For an appointment three zero four seven, six zero fifty
• 7:48
Speaker 3: six to sixty or visit GENERATIONSPT dot com to find
• 7:51
Speaker 3: the closest location near you. Of course, everybody talking about
• 7:53
Speaker 3: that Kroger, but you know there's gonna be some other
• 7:55
Speaker 3: things that are coming there as well.
• 7:56
Speaker 7: Yeah, they already got to several restaurants getting ready to
• 7:58
Speaker 7: start this fall as well. When I think that people
• 8:00
Speaker 7: are going to really enjoy His Mission Barbecue, which is
• 8:03
Speaker 7: a franchise that's put together by a group of veterans,
• 8:05
Speaker 7: and I think there was a lot of them in
• 8:06
Speaker 7: a high there's nothing in West Virginia yet. We'll have
• 8:09
Speaker 7: the first one there. It'll be right across from the
• 8:10
Speaker 7: main entrance of Park Place where Chick fil A's that
• 8:12
Speaker 7: had across from there. If people know where that's at uh,
• 8:15
Speaker 7: so that that'll start. That'll be the next one to
• 8:17
Speaker 7: start after Kroger, I believe, and then it'll be a
• 8:18
Speaker 7: little bit of a domino effect after that, so you'll
• 8:20
Speaker 7: see several, uh several things start no later than this fall. Again,
• 8:24
Speaker 7: the Kroger will be next. As soon as mother nature
• 8:26
Speaker 7: lets them get started, they're gonna get started. We're groundbreaking again,
• 8:29
Speaker 7: as I mentioned on the thirtieth of this month. So
• 8:31
Speaker 7: we're all again. We're excited about that. We're excited about
• 8:33
Speaker 7: the you know, one of the big things, I said,
• 8:35
Speaker 7: one of the most anticipated ribbon cuttings we've had in
• 8:38
Speaker 7: a long time. It was a farmers market. Oh yeah,
• 8:40
Speaker 7: we did, man, it was it was really something else.
• 8:42
Speaker 3: Let me tell you, I've fed a couple of opportunities
• 8:44
Speaker 3: my wife and I to come to that farmers market.
• 8:47
Speaker 3: That's a real deal. I mean it is really really
• 8:49
  Speaker 3: a nice farmers.
• 8:50
Speaker 7: Well, it really is. And we got I was a
• 8:52
Speaker 7: little concerned about vendors when we first came, you know,
• 8:54
Speaker 7: started to do it. The man we've been we've had
• 8:56
Speaker 7: more vendors than we can handle wanting to come down.
• 8:58
Speaker 7: So it's been really good. The very first day we
• 9:00
Speaker 7: opened up Gritz had to restock four times and it
• 9:04
Speaker 7: was kind of gives you an idea of, you know,
• 9:06
Speaker 7: what kind of crowd we had down there.
• 9:08
Speaker 3: But it's not only the fact that you have different
• 9:10
Speaker 3: things coming in too. It's not just the same thing
• 9:12
Speaker 3: every week. And I know that there's usually food trucks there, Yeah,
• 9:14
Speaker 3: things of that nature. So it gives people a little variety. Yeah,
• 9:17
Speaker 3: and look, I live in Tay's Valley and we make
• 9:19
Speaker 3: the trip there. I know people from Charleston to come there.
• 9:21
Speaker 3: I know people from Elview that come there. So people
• 9:24
Speaker 3: aren't are aren't shy about getting on the road and
• 9:26
Speaker 3: coming to South Charleston right now because this Farmer's market
• 9:29
Speaker 3: is really really nice.
• 9:30
Speaker 7: Very convenient, very convenient to get to.
• 9:32
Speaker 3: Yeah, all right, so we'll talk about the downtown area.
• 9:35
Speaker 3: South Charleston had an opportunity to be there a couple
• 9:37
Speaker 3: of weeks ago, and we forget we spend so much
• 9:39
Speaker 3: time talking about River Walk and talking about what's going
• 9:42
Speaker 3: on to Jeffert We forget you've got them thriving downtown area.
• 9:45
Speaker 7: Yeah, we do. It's good and now we have a
• 9:47
Speaker 7: variety of restaurants. For sure. It's the only place you
• 9:49
Speaker 7: probably can't. It was hard for a while to happy
• 9:51
Speaker 7: days open down there, to can't find a hot dog
• 9:53
Speaker 7: or hamburg. It was mostly a lot of different cuisine
• 9:55
Speaker 7: from around the world. Right, So, and then we have
• 9:57
Speaker 7: a new business going in down there now by the mound.
• 9:59
  Speaker 7: It's Andrew's Boots is moving down there. That's a construction
• 10:02
Speaker 7: you see now on Seventh Avenue. They're coming in and
• 10:05
Speaker 7: so we're excited to get them open and get them going.
• 10:07
Speaker 7: But yeah, downtown's going well. Mixture of small business with
• 10:12
Speaker 7: professionals and restaurants and you have a nice little downtown.
• 10:14
Speaker 7: Attorney's insurance, real estate people throwing a few eteries and
• 10:17
Speaker 7: you have a nice downtown. That was always our goal,
• 10:19
Speaker 7: and I think we're getting there.
• 10:20
Speaker 3: Had a texture, he said, loving the roundabout, except for
• 10:23
Speaker 3: the Papa John's delivery driver who came towards me head on.
• 10:26
  Speaker 3: It's not that complicated people. It's a learning process. Mare's
• 10:30
  Speaker 3: learning it is.
• 10:31
Speaker 7: I've seen some of those videos, but again it's a
• 10:33
Speaker 7: it's a learning curve for some folks. And look, six
• 10:36
Speaker 7: months to a year from now, everybody going through there
• 10:37
Speaker 7: will be routine, will be good to go.
• 10:39
Speaker 3: For that one guy who's still in its still.
• 10:41
Speaker 7: Yeah, I saw one truck in that little center lane
• 10:43
Speaker 7: in the middle of just going in circles. I think
• 10:45
Speaker 7: he was just doing it on purposes, screwing around. But anyway,
• 10:48
Speaker 7: it is what it is.
• 10:50
Speaker 3: So what's going on with South Charleston Community Center? Anything
• 10:52
  Speaker 3: going on there?
• 10:53
Speaker 7: Toy. We've got a hold of roof right now. We're
• 10:54
Speaker 7: coming with you know, so we're dealing.
• 10:56
  Speaker 3: Not by design.
• 10:57
Speaker 7: Not by design, it's there, but look the roofs of town,
• 11:00
Speaker 7: you know, it's it was a twenty five year roof
• 11:02
Speaker 7: that we opened the doors in nineteen eighty two through
• 11:05
Speaker 7: the math, right, So it's a well, look, we have
• 11:07
Speaker 7: plans for a new one and we're trying to get
• 11:10
Speaker 7: that going. We've got a we got a conceptual design
• 11:12
  Speaker 7: already made. We've got a site select that I can't
• 11:14
Speaker 7: really announce that site yet, but we do have a
• 11:16
Speaker 7: site selection for it, and hopefully it's.
• 11:19
Speaker 3: A site selection for the for the new community, New
• 11:21
  Speaker 3: Community show.
• 11:22
Speaker 7: So it's gonna move from where, Yeah, we need to
• 11:23
Speaker 7: move it. Look, the roof's replacement is about a five
• 11:25
Speaker 7: or six million dollar project. The mechanics of it is
• 11:29
Speaker 7: really getting a little bit of a struggle because it's
• 11:31
Speaker 7: been under water nine times. You know it's in the floodplain. Obviously,
• 11:34
Speaker 7: people know that we need to build a new facility somewhere.
• 11:37
Speaker 7: In the perfect world, we'll be able to do it
• 11:38
Speaker 7: without any service interruption, could do it while it's still open.
• 11:41
Speaker 7: That's the game plan. We're moving forward with it. It's a challenge.
• 11:44
Speaker 7: The tiff districts are funding mechanisms, so we've got to
• 11:46
Speaker 7: get some stores open up park Place in other places.
• 11:48
Speaker 7: But once we get that done, we hope to be
• 11:50
Speaker 7: able to get that project up and going.
• 11:52
Speaker 3: A couple more texts for you. Here a popular guy here,
• 11:55
Speaker 3: Three things I'd love to see at park Place, Iikia,
• 11:58
Speaker 3: Malibu jacks, and a Bucky's. Well, I can tell you
• 12:00
Speaker 3: one of those is not gonna happen. That's the buckets.
• 12:02
  Speaker 3: That one's off.
• 12:03
Speaker 7: That one's off that take up the whole site.
• 12:05
Speaker 3: From what I understand, that's not gonna happen. What about
• 12:07
Speaker 3: the other two, I mean.
• 12:08
Speaker 7: I haven't heard those two yet, but I appreciate that.
• 12:10
  Speaker 7: I appreciate those ideas. I mean, I get a bunch
• 12:12
Speaker 7: of things sent to me, and although a lot of
• 12:15
Speaker 7: it will be up to the developer. We did keep
• 12:16
Speaker 7: what I call veto power over some things, so we'll
• 12:18
Speaker 7: be able to control some of the things that go
• 12:20
Speaker 7: in there. Because I didn't want us to just be
• 12:22
Speaker 7: able to reach out and grab an easy lease. I
• 12:24
Speaker 7: wanted to try to bring things we don't have in
• 12:25
Speaker 7: West Virginia, and we're being a little bit successful that.
• 12:28
Speaker 7: It's been a little harder than I thought, but when
• 12:29
Speaker 7: you you know, you throw in a mission barbecue for example,
• 12:32
Speaker 7: and even hopefully Minards will get started sometime soon. I
• 12:34
Speaker 7: still don't have a date for that, but I've talked
• 12:36
Speaker 7: to them several times. It's still on their schedule to do.
• 12:38
Speaker 7: So you know, those two check that box, and we
• 12:40
Speaker 7: have some other ones coming to check that box as well.
• 12:42
Speaker 7: So that's what we're trying to do. There'll be some
• 12:45
Speaker 7: dup Let's, Chick fil A and Starbucks are there, but
• 12:46
Speaker 7: you can't get wrong with those two, right, So you know,
• 12:49
Speaker 7: I'm excited about it, and I think people will start
• 12:51
Speaker 7: seeing some real activity down there this summer and fall.
• 12:54
Speaker 3: All right, question for the mayor, what's the deal with
• 12:55
  Speaker 3: the dairy bar?
• 12:57
  Speaker 7: I don't know. I mean, it's it's you know, the
• 12:59
Speaker 7: owner we had we had a small restaurant in there
• 13:02
  Speaker 7: for a little while. Right now it's vacant. I haven't
• 13:04
Speaker 7: heard of anything else coming back in. Look, we need
• 13:06
Speaker 7: a place in South charles for people come and get
• 13:08
Speaker 7: ice cream, right, we don't even I hear that sometimes
• 13:10
Speaker 7: from folks. Look where do you go to just get
• 13:12
Speaker 7: an ice cream cone in South Charleston And we don't
• 13:13
Speaker 7: really have a place. So hopefully we'll be able to
• 13:16
Speaker 7: get something like that back in that area because I
• 13:18
Speaker 7: think that was popular. One of the dairy bar was
• 13:20
  Speaker 7: popular for people.
• 13:20
Speaker 3: Well, I think sometimes what happens, and this is not
• 13:22
Speaker 3: exclusive to South Charleston, this happens in every town across America.
• 13:25
Speaker 3: Is a lot of times people say, well we need
• 13:28
Speaker 3: this and we need that, and the government needs to
• 13:30
Speaker 3: do this, and the city. I mean, you guys have
• 13:32
Speaker 3: got your role in city government or county government or whatever.
• 13:35
Speaker 3: You've got your role in. But that's that's up to individual.
• 13:37
Speaker 7: That is up then I say that all. Look where
• 13:40
Speaker 7: our role, I think is to make South Charleston an
• 13:42
Speaker 7: attractive place to come and do business, whether it be
• 13:44
Speaker 7: helping them do some site development, or whether it be
• 13:47
Speaker 7: through infrastructure or tax structure or whatever. It may be.
• 13:50
Speaker 7: We want to have a business friendly environment. That's been
• 13:51
Speaker 7: one of my main goals since I took office, and
• 13:53
Speaker 7: I think we've accomplished that. And so but then after
• 13:57
Speaker 7: we do that, after we have that in place, it's
• 13:59
Speaker 7: up to the private sector to come in and create
• 14:01
Speaker 7: the jobs and bring in the new business. We just
• 14:03
Speaker 7: have to give them the playing field that they want
• 14:05
Speaker 7: to come and play on. And that's what we're that's
• 14:06
Speaker 7: what we've been doing in South Charleston, and it's been
• 14:09
Speaker 7: successful because, look, you can do it for a little while,
• 14:11
Speaker 7: it's got to have staying power. If it doesn't have
• 14:12
Speaker 7: staying power, you're not gonna you're not gonna have a
• 14:14
Speaker 7: lot of success. So you've got to have staying power.
• 14:16
Speaker 7: We're at that point now where people trust us, they
• 14:18
Speaker 7: know we have a business friendly environment, they know it's
• 14:20
  Speaker 7: here to stay.
• 14:21
Speaker 3: All right, So Charleston Mayor Frank Mullins, and the bottom

Speaker 3: I just happen to have this information here. On Wednesday night,
• 17:35
Speaker 3: August the thirteenth, it's Straight On, which is a tribute
• 17:39
Speaker 3: to Heart, followed by the Exiles Thursday the fourteenth, the
• 17:42
Speaker 3: Legacy Motown Review and the Detonators. On Friday, August fifteenth,
• 17:49
Speaker 3: Josh Pantry will play at six and then I'll be
• 17:52
Speaker 3: all about this when the tribute to Leonard Skinnard called
• 17:55
Speaker 3: Turn it Up. That's that late Friday night, and then
• 17:58
Speaker 3: on Saturday, Non Friction, great local group and Rick Kay's
• 18:02
Speaker 3: road Trip. We'll be playing that night. So again we'll
• 18:05
Speaker 3: talk about it as we get a little bit closer.
• 18:06
Speaker 3: But again that's who's playing. To the Texter that ask
• 18:10
Speaker 3: straight On, the tribute to herd End, the Exiles on Wednesday,
• 18:13
Speaker 3: then on Thursdays the Detonators, followed by the Legacy Motown Review.
• 18:17
Speaker 3: Friday August fifteenth, Josh Pantry and then the tribute to
• 18:20
Speaker 3: skinnerd Turned it Up. And then on Saturday, August sixteenth,
• 18:23
Speaker 3: Non Friction, followed by Rick Kay's road Trip Danny Jones
• 18:26
Speaker 3: coming up a little bit later on Stephen Allen Adams
• 18:28
Speaker 3: is here. How you doing, man? Doing really good?
• 18:30
Speaker 6: And I gotta tell you man, like, I haven't driven
• 18:33
Speaker 6: on the new roundabout in South Charles, but I like roundabouts.
• 18:37
  Speaker 6: I don't think they're too complicated. But I've seen some
• 18:39
Speaker 6: crazy things on the round about. I watched one time
• 18:41
Speaker 6: in Harlan, Kentucky, a semi truck instead of trying to
• 18:44
Speaker 6: make the round just drive right straight through the middle
• 18:48
Speaker 6: as if it was so he did the about instead
• 18:51
Speaker 6: of the round I guess, yeah, yeah, So I've seen
• 18:53
Speaker 6: some crazy crazy stuff from drivers on around.
• 18:55
Speaker 3: I mean, there's all kinds of videos out there, the
• 18:57
Speaker 3: TikTok thing and whatever, in which I don't take, nor
• 19:00
Speaker 3: do I talk. But Tracy out front after she got
• 19:05
Speaker 3: her work completed by the way management, after she got
• 19:07
Speaker 3: a work complete, was showing us some videos out there
• 19:09
Speaker 3: various roundabouts and given them names. I mean, she wasn't,
• 19:13
Speaker 3: but other people apparently they've given me. So this weekend
• 19:16
Speaker 3: the State Republican Party is going to gather in Morgantown.
• 19:19
Speaker 3: They're going to choose a new leader. This after the
• 19:21
Speaker 3: resignation of Matt Herridge, Wes Perry, doctor Michael George, and
• 19:24
Speaker 3: Delegate Josh Nichols Josh Oldstein, Sorry about that, Josh. Are
• 19:29
Speaker 3: the names in the mix that I'm aware of, and
• 19:31
Speaker 3: immediately after Matt Harridge announced his resignation a week ago.
• 19:35
Speaker 3: Of course he's a member of the Morrissey administration, Senator
• 19:39
Speaker 3: Justice immediately endorsed Delegate Holsteam and I'm told there's a
• 19:42
Speaker 3: lot of support for him, and of course the others
• 19:45
Speaker 3: have their supporters as well.
• 19:46
Speaker 6: What are you hearing, boy, It's kind of radio silence
• 19:50
Speaker 6: on my end on this. I'm going to drive up
• 19:52
Speaker 6: there for the meeting on Saturday and cover that. I've
• 19:55
Speaker 6: pretty much covered every new Chair election since Mark Harris
• 20:01
Speaker 6: replaced Melody Potter back in twenty twenty, twenty twenty one,
• 20:05
Speaker 6: where yeah, it was right after the twenty twenty presidential election.
• 20:09
Speaker 6: And what I'm trying to figure out are factions now.
• 20:13
Speaker 6: As you said, got former governor US Senator Jim Justice
• 20:17
Speaker 6: is a line behind Delgate Josh Holstein, and that is
• 20:21
Speaker 6: sort of what I'm hearing too talking to I reached
• 20:23
Speaker 6: out to a couple committee members that I know personally
• 20:26
Speaker 6: that sort of said that seems to be the popular choice,
• 20:30
Speaker 6: but there is, as you have I'm sure kind of noticed,
• 20:33
Speaker 6: even though it's not been by name, there's sort of
• 20:37
Speaker 6: back and forth between the former Justice administration and the
• 20:41
Speaker 6: current administration of Governor Patrick Morrissey, and Morrissey does like
• 20:46
Speaker 6: to kind of involve himself in those type of intra
• 20:51
Speaker 6: party squabbles, So the question is who's his person. I
• 20:55
Speaker 6: don't know if any of the two other names that
• 20:57
Speaker 6: you mentioned who I don't really know anything about other
• 21:01
Speaker 6: than the wife right in the Metro News story. I
• 21:03
Speaker 6: don't know if those are Morrissey backed people or not,
• 21:08
Speaker 6: or if there's somebody else that's floating out there. But
• 21:11
Speaker 6: I think that's going to be the question is who
• 21:14
Speaker 6: what faction is going to be in control of managing
• 21:18
Speaker 6: the state party going into the next midterm election, which
• 21:20
Speaker 6: will be important sure at all three.
• 21:23
Speaker 3: Because I had I had the three I mentioned on
• 21:25
Speaker 3: the show last week on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in
• 21:28
Speaker 3: a row, and I interviewed all of them and I
• 21:30
Speaker 3: pretty much asked them all the same questions, and one
• 21:32
Speaker 3: of them, you know, the questions I asked was about
• 21:34
Speaker 3: about candidate recruitment, because when you are the party in power,
• 21:40
Speaker 3: as the Democrats were for eighty three years, everybody wants
• 21:42
Speaker 3: to run. Anybody that's got independent that's and that's great,
• 21:45
Speaker 3: don't get me wrong, but sometimes you got to have
• 21:47
Speaker 3: people to kind of say, Okay, well this person, maybe
• 21:50
Speaker 3: you'd be better off here, and maybe this person you'd
• 21:53
Speaker 3: be better off here. And that's one of the roles
• 21:55
Speaker 3: of a party party chair. People kind of forget that
• 21:57
Speaker 3: it's working with the county executive committee on candidate recruitment.
• 22:01
Speaker 6: I mean, traditionally your state party had a big role
• 22:05
Speaker 6: in candidate recruitment and saying you run you wait, you know,
• 22:09
Speaker 6: to the next cycle. A lot of that got broken
• 22:12
Speaker 6: down by a campaign finance reform, assistance United you can
• 22:16
Speaker 6: donate direct to packs now and kind of bypassed your
• 22:20
Speaker 6: state party. Actually there, I think there's a Supreme Court
• 22:22
Speaker 6: ruling or case going through now that might actually put
• 22:25
Speaker 6: more power in state party hands.
• 22:28
Speaker 7: They had way more of a role.
• 22:29
Speaker 6: That's many will point to the fact that the erosion
• 22:34
Speaker 6: of state parties and even the national party is why
• 22:36
Speaker 6: we've gotten fringe candidates on both sides, on the Republican
• 22:40
Speaker 6: side and the Democratic side. So you want to have
• 22:43
Speaker 6: a strong party because a strong party is going to
• 22:48
Speaker 6: you know, be strong on issues like candidate recruitment and
• 22:51
Speaker 6: finding quality candidates. So that's that's an important role. Of
• 22:54
Speaker 6: a party that kind of got lost and may be
• 22:56
  Speaker 6: coming back.
• 22:57
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm talking again with Steven Allen Adams of logged
• 23:00
Speaker 3: in newspapers, and I have been told that there seems
• 23:04
Speaker 3: to be a disconnect. Now that if I'm wrong about this,
• 23:08
Speaker 3: I will apologize, but I've been told by several people
• 23:12
Speaker 3: that there's seems to be a bit of a disconnect
• 23:14
Speaker 3: from the Morrissey administration with the delegation in Washington, you know,
• 23:20
Speaker 3: whether it's Justice or Capito or or Miller Riley Moore.
• 23:25
Speaker 3: Now again, you hear a lot of stuff, but have
• 23:27
Speaker 3: you heard things like that?
• 23:28
Speaker 6: Oh for sure, for sure, which is very interesting because
• 23:32
Speaker 6: I mean it's sort of known that Governor Morrissey does
• 23:36
Speaker 6: go to d C pretty frequently. Uh so you would
• 23:40
Speaker 6: think the relationship would be better. I think we can
• 23:42
Speaker 6: see safely say that the relationship probably between the Morrissey
• 23:46
Speaker 6: administration and the Justice US Senate Office probably is not
• 23:50
Speaker 6: the greatest. As for everybody else, I think it just
• 23:53
Speaker 6: kind of varies. But of course, you know, uh, you
• 23:56
Speaker 6: know more Capital Senator Capito's son was someone that ran
• 24:01
Speaker 6: against Morrissey in the Republican primary for governor came in second. Uh,
• 24:05
Speaker 6: and and lost, but took some counties away from from Morrissey,
• 24:11
Speaker 6: particularly in southern West Virginia by the way. Uh, so
• 24:15
Speaker 6: there there's there's a little bit of probably some friction there,
• 24:21
Speaker 6: I would presume going forward. And also keep in mind,
• 24:27
Speaker 6: you know, more capital as a young man, he could
• 24:28
  Speaker 6: run for office.
• 24:29
  Speaker 2: Again.
• 24:29
Speaker 6: We know he's up for a nomination for US Attorney
• 24:32
Speaker 6: for the southern District of West Virginia. So I I
• 24:35
Speaker 6: do think that there is some kind of they work
• 24:39
Speaker 6: together and they talk, but I do think there's some suspicion,
• 24:43
Speaker 6: uh going forward, which probably colors all those relationships.
• 24:48
Speaker 3: I'm talking to Steven Allen Adams of of Ogden Newspapers,
• 24:51
Speaker 3: And again, you can have in a world of politics,
• 24:56
Speaker 3: you can have your as you said, your your factions
• 25:01
Speaker 3: or you know, this person could support that person and
• 25:03
Speaker 3: whatever and still work together.
• 25:05
  Speaker 10: Yeah.
• 25:05
Speaker 3: I mean we kind of forget that sometimes.
• 25:08
Speaker 6: Yeah, And I think that does ultimately happen. But I've
• 25:11
Speaker 6: said this on this show and I've said this on
• 25:13
Speaker 6: other shows before. Nature bores a vacuum, and right now
• 25:18
Speaker 6: we don't have a very competitive state Democratic Party at all.
• 25:23
Speaker 6: And no disrespect to Delgate Mike Pushkin the chairman of
• 25:26
Speaker 6: the Democratic Party. I know he's doing the best that
• 25:28
Speaker 6: he can, and some of that may reverse over the
• 25:30
Speaker 6: next few years, over the next few decades, we'll see.
• 25:33
Speaker 6: But because they don't have a very competitive, you know,
• 25:38
Speaker 6: opposing party, the factions you're now seeing are within the
• 25:41
Speaker 6: Republican Party itself. Between those that would be probably considered
• 25:45
Speaker 6: conservative a few years ago but are now concerned moderates.
• 25:48
Speaker 6: Those are those that are probably further to the right,
• 25:52
Speaker 6: so light conservative, you know, light red conservative, dark red conservative,
• 25:57
Speaker 6: and you're seeing those factions constantly now, but it took
• 26:00
Speaker 6: a few years for that to come out.
• 26:03
Speaker 3: Going back to the state convention for the Republicans this
• 26:06
Speaker 3: weekend in Morgantown, are you hearing what I'm hearing that
• 26:08
Speaker 3: there could possibly be a move by some to open
• 26:11
Speaker 3: the primaries back up.
• 26:12
Speaker 6: Yes, I think someone will offer that motion. How far
• 26:17
Speaker 6: that will get, I don't know. I'm trying to remember
• 26:20
Speaker 6: to vote off the top of my head, because I
• 26:22
Speaker 6: covered that meeting. When they did it, it was relatively close,
• 26:26
Speaker 6: so it could go back the other direction. And I
• 26:28
Speaker 6: kind of figured, even you know, a year and a
• 26:31
Speaker 6: half ago, when they made that decision, I sort of
• 26:34
Speaker 6: figured they'd revisit that the closer you get to twenty
• 26:36
Speaker 6: twenty six, because I mean, where at least voters are
• 26:39
Speaker 6: going to go. They assume that they're going to flip,
• 26:41
Speaker 6: you know, their registrations over to R and vote in
• 26:45
Speaker 6: that primary maybe, or they might not vote at all
• 26:48
Speaker 6: in the primary at all, and then they might be
• 26:52
Speaker 6: inclined to vote for a different party or not vote
• 26:56
Speaker 6: at all because you know, failed disenfranchised in the general election.
• 26:59
Speaker 6: So and keep in mind Democrats haven't closed their primary
• 27:03
Speaker 6: to independent voters. So I mean, do you really want
• 27:06
Speaker 6: to do that. I mean, I think you're going to
• 27:09
Speaker 6: see some rethinking of that decision. To closer we get
• 27:12
  Speaker 6: the next Saturday.
• 27:14
Speaker 3: The Steven Allen Adams is here. And I have been
• 27:16
Speaker 3: told by some of my friends that represent southern West Virginia.
• 27:20
Speaker 3: I think logan mingo, h you know, those areas that.
• 27:23
Speaker 3: Matter of fact, one elected official told me that he
• 27:28
Speaker 3: or she was against the move from day one, and
• 27:31
Speaker 3: they're a registered Republican. They said, because it's going to
• 27:34
Speaker 3: hurt you in southern West Virginia. Oh for sure, for sure.
• 27:38
Speaker 6: I mean that was always that was the argument that
• 27:41
Speaker 6: was made during the winter meeting where they made this
• 27:43
Speaker 6: decision as well. Now, a lot of those people did
• 27:46
Speaker 6: flip over to Republican. That's what's driven the numbers which
• 27:49
Speaker 6: keep going up for Republicans and voter registration they keep increasing,
• 27:53
Speaker 6: Democrat registration keeps decreasing. So it's happening, but it's happening
• 27:57
Speaker 6: pretty slow because, as you know, from southern West Virginia,
• 28:00
Speaker 6: my wife's from southern West Virginia. I've talked to a
• 28:02
Speaker 6: lot of people down there who have made the switch
• 28:04
Speaker 6: from Democrat to independent because while they aligned with President
• 28:07
Speaker 6: Trump or with Republican political philosophy right now, they remember
• 28:12
Speaker 6: what their grandparents told them, like, you know, I'll roll
• 28:14
Speaker 6: over my grave if you switch over to a Republican.
• 28:17
Speaker 6: So it's safer for them to just do it as
• 28:19
Speaker 6: an independent. Maybe it'll get to a Republican one day,
• 28:22
Speaker 6: but they're not there yet, and there's a lot of
• 28:25
Speaker 6: people in southern West Virginia to feel that way.
• 28:27
Speaker 3: The Dave Alan showing five eighty line brought to you
• 28:29
Speaker 3: apart by fresh Air Filters of Tayese Valley fresh Air.
• 28:31
Speaker 3: You're trusted filter experts for both your home or business
• 28:34
Speaker 3: three zero four four four zero one one zero four
• 28:37
Speaker 3: or was it fresh air filters dot us because everyone
• 28:39
Speaker 3: deserves fresh air Texas. They will try to make a
• 28:42
Speaker 3: motion to open the primary. It will fail, guaranteed.
• 28:45
Speaker 6: Yeah, I mean, I think it's probably likely that they
• 28:49
Speaker 6: will stay the course, but they're will certainly being attempted,
• 28:53
Speaker 6: and we'll see if it's still narrow or maybe if
• 28:57
Speaker 6: the vote margin has widened. But I do you think
• 29:00
Speaker 6: that there are some that still think that's a huge mistake,
• 29:02
Speaker 6: and they'll certainly at least try to put that option
• 29:06
Speaker 6: on the table. Where you look at what are you
• 29:07
Speaker 6: working on today, Stephen Well today looking at some campaign
• 29:11
Speaker 6: finance numbers for US Senate, particularly in US Senator Shelley
• 29:15
  Speaker 6: Moore Capitol's primary.
• 29:17
Speaker 3: There's some numbers up for that.
• 29:19
Speaker 6: Now. You got Tom Willis, the state senator out of
• 29:21
Speaker 6: Berkeley County. He doesn't have any donations yet, but he
• 29:24
Speaker 6: does have a celf loan out there, pretty substantial one
• 29:29
Speaker 6: someone look at in the LA. But otherwise, I think
• 29:31
Speaker 6: we're waiting for the possibility of a state Supreme Court
• 29:34
Speaker 6: justice to be announced this week. We're waiting on the
• 29:36
Speaker 6: disaster declaration from Ohio Marion Counties. I think that's going
• 29:38
Speaker 6: to come at the beginning of this week.
• 29:40
Speaker 3: Senator Capito said that she was expected by midweek. I think, yeah,
• 29:43
  Speaker 3: I think that's what I heard. Yeah, that's right.
• 29:45
Speaker 6: So there's all sorts of things that could happen this
• 29:48
Speaker 6: week and make it pretty interesting.
• 29:49
Speaker 3: All right, Steven, Remind people where they can read your stuff.

• 32:09
Speaker 3: someone would approach Boskov's department store for park plays in
• 32:12
Speaker 3: South Charleston. Really a great move for the Clarksburg Bridgeport area.
• 32:15
Speaker 3: Would be a great move for this area too, Texas Day.
• 32:19
Speaker 3: Have you ever noticed Trump always denies he knows people
• 32:22
Speaker 3: that he's sexually assaulted, or pedophiles he's been friends with,
• 32:24
Speaker 3: or criminals that have been convicted of crimes, But the
• 32:27
Speaker 3: truth always comes out he knew all those people, so
• 32:29
Speaker 3: how could anyone believe him? He's a habitual liar, proven facts.

Speaker 3: My friend? You and I Frank Mallin's playing a little
• 32:56
Speaker 3: catch up out there. He wanted to make sure he
• 32:57
  Speaker 3: saw you.
• 32:59
Speaker 10: He is knocking it out of the park down there.
• 33:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm knocking it out of the park place.
• 33:04
Speaker 10: I was so concerned when that happened, and I said,
• 33:07
Speaker 10: right here on this radio, I said, Frank's making a
• 33:11
Speaker 10: bet on retail and I'm for him, but I take
• 33:14
Speaker 10: the other side, and he is just killing him dout.
• 33:16
Speaker 3: Charleston is a pretty good place to be.
• 33:18
  Speaker 10: It's real exciting.
• 33:20
Speaker 3: I just wish and look, this is me just being
• 33:23
Speaker 3: a little bit overly critical. I guess I just wish
• 33:27
Speaker 3: that people anytime and for any town, people always say, well,
• 33:30
Speaker 3: this town needs this, and it's that, and it's always
• 33:32
Speaker 3: a chain. I just wish people would get as excited
• 33:36
Speaker 3: about local businesses. You are a local restaurant tour you
• 33:39
Speaker 3: know for many, many years, several different places. I just,
• 33:42
Speaker 3: I mean, I know we all want what we want,
• 33:44
Speaker 3: and we want the national chains, but man, I just
• 33:46
Speaker 3: I want people to get excited about local stuff too.
• 33:49
Speaker 10: Well. He McDonald's wanted to go in there. He said, no,
• 33:53
Speaker 10: there's not going to be a McDonald's. We already have
• 33:54
Speaker 10: a McDonald's. We don't need fourteen McDonald Yeah.
• 33:57
Speaker 3: I mean, I like McDonald's much as the next person.
• 33:59
Speaker 3: Just tell Millie Snyder that. But I just I wish
• 34:03
Speaker 3: people would get as excited about the local stuff. On
• 34:06
Speaker 3: the all the weekend news shows. You watch him, I
• 34:08
Speaker 3: watch him, Danny, I watched most of them yesterday. It
• 34:11
Speaker 3: seems like all the talk is on the Epstein files.
• 34:14
Speaker 10: That's the turning point, you think, So, yeah, okay, I've
• 34:17
Speaker 10: never said that before. And despite the fact I didn't
• 34:24
Speaker 10: vote for him, I left the Republican Party over him,
• 34:27
Speaker 10: I think that's a turning point. Turning point meaning what explained,
• 34:31
Speaker 10: because he's on his way out, and I'll tell you
• 34:33
Speaker 10: how it'll happen out of office or just out of power.
• 34:36
  Speaker 10: Out of office.
• 34:37
Speaker 3: You're going down the are now saying that you think
• 34:39
Speaker 3: Donald Trump's on his way out of office.
• 34:40
Speaker 10: It's not going to be tomorrow or even next year.
• 34:43
Speaker 10: I think by my son, my youngest son's birthday February
• 34:50
Speaker 10: twenty eight, twenty twenty seven, I think he'll be going.
• 34:53
Speaker 3: About twenty seven, not twenty six.
• 34:54
  Speaker 10: That's correct.
• 34:55
Speaker 3: And what's going to lead to that in your opinion, Well,
• 34:58
  Speaker 3: it started with.
• 34:59
Speaker 10: This and him turning on his own supporters, and I
• 35:04
Speaker 10: can't believe he's still got forty percent. Heck, when Nixon
• 35:09
Speaker 10: people didn't think that poorly about Nixon, he had twenty
• 35:12
Speaker 10: five percent. Senator Bird wanted the trial to go on.
• 35:15
Speaker 10: He said, we need to be concerned about these twenty
• 35:17
Speaker 10: five percent that think he didn't do anything wrong, because
• 35:26
Speaker 10: that amount of people that think he doesn't do anything
• 35:29
Speaker 10: wrong leads to what we're in this country today.
• 35:32
Speaker 3: I think it's interesting that some of the names that
• 35:34
Speaker 3: are out there, you said, some of his supporters, people
• 35:37
Speaker 3: are have been so totally obsessed with this, even people
• 35:40
Speaker 3: that don't follow politics. Have been so totally obsessed with
• 35:43
Speaker 3: this thing. Marjorie Taylor Green was one that wants it
• 35:48
Speaker 3: fully investigated. Mike Johnson was another one. Yeah, I know,
• 35:51
Speaker 3: Marjorie Tayler Green. No, everybody's thinking about themselves, do you
• 35:55
  Speaker 3: think so?
• 35:56
Speaker 10: Oh? Yeah, they had a congressman from Louisiana and I
• 36:01
Speaker 10: can't think his name. Yesterday. I wish everybody could have
• 36:04
Speaker 10: seen him. He's got it right. He's a Southern boy.
• 36:07
Speaker 10: And you know, also, I was waiting for Donna Brazil
• 36:11
Speaker 10: to say something kind about him.
• 36:13
  Speaker 4: Oh you're talking.
• 36:13
Speaker 3: Okay, now, wait matute, I think my shows might be
• 36:15
Speaker 3: getting mixed up here. You're talking about I think he
• 36:18
Speaker 3: was from Tennessee. Okay, that was on this week. Yeah, yeah,
• 36:21
Speaker 3: he was from Tennessee. I can't think of his name,
• 36:23
Speaker 3: but yeah, he was from Tennessee.
• 36:24
  Speaker 10: Well he's he's a good man. I urged people to
• 36:28
Speaker 10: go watch it. Can I get something in My sister
• 36:33
Speaker 10: fell down the steps and in her home and she's
• 36:38
Speaker 10: paralyzed from the neck down, and I just want to
• 36:42
Speaker 10: see if people would pray.
• 36:44
Speaker 3: For Okay, I'm sorry, Danny, I didn't was this something
• 36:47
  Speaker 3: happened recently?
• 36:48
Speaker 10: Or oh three days ago.
• 36:50
Speaker 3: Oh okay, Well I didn't know, and I.
• 36:52
Speaker 10: Asked her, you know, she doesn't understand why I like
• 36:56
Speaker 10: all this publicity. But I said, please say that, and
• 37:00
Speaker 10: she said, okay, but.
• 37:02
Speaker 3: I mean, is the paralysis permanent?
• 37:04
Speaker 10: No, I don't think so. As a matter of fact,
• 37:07
Speaker 10: she's able to wigger her toes and her fingers. Okay,
• 37:11
Speaker 10: which if you, if you, if you're in that situation,
• 37:13
Speaker 10: that's a heck of a good sign. And and what
• 37:17
Speaker 10: what made that work was she is athletic, she was
• 37:20
Speaker 10: she you know, I had my pool. I was a swimmer.
• 37:23
Speaker 10: The day I got diagnosed with cancer, I swim two
• 37:26
Speaker 10: miles and I never swam that much after that. Just
• 37:31
Speaker 10: and then and plus she exercises. She goes to one
• 37:36
Speaker 10: of the exercises places.
• 37:39
  Speaker 3: So I just I just won't absolutely, I mean, And
• 37:42
Speaker 3: so those of you that are the the brain type,
• 37:45
Speaker 3: if you'd say a prayer for dan what's her name.
• 37:47
  Speaker 10: Laura Patterson?
• 37:49
Speaker 3: Laura, prayer for Laura Patterson, Danny's sister. Appreciate you you
• 37:53
Speaker 3: sharing that here, and her thoughts and prayers are with
• 37:55
Speaker 3: you and with her.
• 37:56
Speaker 10: Now now about that book, Okay, all right, we're we're
• 38:00
  Speaker 10: moving quickly.
• 38:01
Speaker 3: And and in case you missed the show last week,
• 38:03
Speaker 3: we spent the variety of the majority of the time
• 38:06
Speaker 3: talking about Danny Jones's book. Does that have a title yet?
• 38:10
Speaker 3: Do you want to say yet?
• 38:11
Speaker 10: Call me Danny, Call me Danny. My mother would never
• 38:14
Speaker 10: call me Danny. And you know it was a part
• 38:18
Speaker 10: of the competitiveness of our relationship. But it's your fault
• 38:27
Speaker 10: that it's that it's going to come out. It's my
• 38:29
Speaker 10: fault that fairly soon, okay, tax me. I'm very grateful
• 38:33
Speaker 10: because you said, well, are we going to get any recipes?
• 38:36
Speaker 10: And I said, that'll be in the next book. And
• 38:40
  Speaker 10: that's when I said, Charlie, you're eighty five. I'll be
• 38:44
Speaker 10: sing Ryan, we're talking about Charles Ryan. I said, you're yes,
• 38:47
Speaker 10: you're eighty five, and I'm going to be seventy five.
• 38:50
Speaker 10: We need to live to enjoy this. And he's really
• 38:53
Speaker 10: he's really knocking out of the park and we're doing
• 38:56
Speaker 10: it together, which is a labor of love for me,
• 38:59
Speaker 10: but also you know, that's just that's what he does.
• 39:02
Speaker 3: Yeah. Sure, And I read his book. I read I
• 39:05
Speaker 3: mean the one that he did, like his autobiography, and
• 39:07
Speaker 3: I thought I think I finished it in like a day,
• 39:10
Speaker 3: you know, because I couldn't put it down.
• 39:12
Speaker 10: Did you did you read the Murder on Stanton Road?
• 39:16
Speaker 3: I read parts of it. I did not read the
• 39:18
Speaker 3: entire thing. I read where I was all right, nothing
• 39:23
  Speaker 3: wrong with that.
• 39:23
Speaker 10: But I said, you wrote two books about one house.
• 39:28
Speaker 10: I said, we can write two books about one person.
• 39:32
Speaker 10: We'll just do volume one and volume two.
• 39:35
  Speaker 3: I love it.
• 39:35
Speaker 10: What do you think?
• 39:36
  Speaker 12: I love it?
• 39:36
Speaker 10: And I got the idea from this show. It wasn't
• 39:39
Speaker 10: your fault. I'm grateful because we I think Charlie thinks
• 39:43
Speaker 10: we can get out by October, but I think it'll
• 39:46
  Speaker 10: be Christmas well.
• 39:47
Speaker 3: I mean to be a great Christmas gift. And of
• 39:48
Speaker 3: course it'll be available in the UH online, I'm sure,
• 39:52
Speaker 3: and hopefully can get in some of the local you know,
• 39:54
Speaker 3: the local places as well.
• 39:55
Speaker 10: It's very hard to to just skim a book mm hmm.
• 40:00
Speaker 10: And my side is not what it used to be,
• 40:03
Speaker 10: so i'd really listen to books, and I just recommend
• 40:07
Speaker 10: one listen to Jake Tappers, both original sin. Don't don't
• 40:12
Speaker 10: be lost in your philosophical his philosophical leanings that's opposed
• 40:16
Speaker 10: to yours. It's a great books.
• 40:19
Speaker 3: What I've heard. I've read excerpts of it too, but
• 40:21
Speaker 3: I haven't read the entire thing. We're talking to to
• 40:23
Speaker 3: Danny Danny Jones to work. So the book is going
• 40:25
Speaker 3: to be called call Me Danny. It's not going to
• 40:29
Speaker 3: be called I used to be famous, because that's your
• 40:31
Speaker 3: favorite line. You're still famous, Danny.
• 40:35
  Speaker 10: I have a lot of fun. I'm I have a
• 40:39
Speaker 10: lot of fun. I mean, Charles West Virginia is my
• 40:43
Speaker 10: DNA is in the streets. I don't understand why people
• 40:47
Speaker 10: left here. I get angry about it.
• 40:49
Speaker 3: Well I mean people, I mean, you know, and we
• 40:52
Speaker 3: we have this discussion about the regatta, and I get
• 40:55
Speaker 3: texted the show all the time where people say they
• 40:57
Speaker 3: need to, you know, do one or two things. They
• 40:59
Speaker 3: need to bring the regatta back like it was Okay,
• 41:01
Speaker 3: that's not going to happen, you know that. And they
• 41:04
Speaker 3: need to move the dates well because school starts now,
• 41:06
Speaker 3: like you know, August fifth or something ridiculous like that.
• 41:09
Speaker 3: That's not going to happen. But the regatta is never
• 41:12
Speaker 3: going to be the ten day or whatever it was
• 41:13
Speaker 3: festival years ago. And I wish more people would realize
• 41:16
Speaker 3: that because the money's not here and the population's not here.
• 41:19
Speaker 10: I changed it, saved it, and canceled it. I changed it.
• 41:25
Speaker 10: I saved it on two thousand with the help of
• 41:28
Speaker 10: some other radio stations and Dickey Barber and Bud Weiser.
• 41:35
Speaker 10: And two thousand and seven we couldn't get anybody. We
• 41:40
Speaker 10: didn't have any American Rescue playing or anything, so we
• 41:43
Speaker 10: couldn't get any sponsored, not one. So we had to
• 41:46
Speaker 10: cancel it because we I'd already started at festival, said well,
• 41:50
Speaker 10: you just replaced it. They're not really We didn't have
• 41:54
Speaker 10: the money and Charleston, you know, we were slowly losing

Speaker 3: so we'll get that for you later.
• 45:48
Speaker 10: And that's somebody was Bob, Bob Brunner, Bob the Truth.
• 45:52
Speaker 10: Brunner had Bob on the show before. Now othertimes, you know,
• 45:55
Speaker 10: when Don was here, they had a lot more listeners.
• 45:59
Speaker 3: Except for, Hey, it's that's supposed to be.
• 46:04
Speaker 10: Here. I was down the dial.
• 46:06
Speaker 3: Okay, oh, I thought you meant then we do now.

Speaker 10: No, no, no, no, no, I'm just kidding with you.
• 46:11
Speaker 10: But Don don you know, mix and sports and stuff.
• 46:14
Speaker 3: But Don Cook we're talking.
• 46:15
Speaker 10: But yeah, and he would he and.
• 46:19
  Speaker 17: He and.
• 46:20
  Speaker 3: Brnner Bronner.
• 46:22
Speaker 10: You know, Gason was supposed to come to my place,
• 46:24
Speaker 10: and Bob the Truth Brunner wouldn't let him come up.
• 46:28
Speaker 10: So I started calling him Bob the Truth Bronner, and
• 46:33
Speaker 10: people would call Don Cook up and talk save Don. Oh,
• 46:37
  Speaker 10: he's just furious because that's I think. And ready they'll
• 46:39
Speaker 10: call that a gorilla tactic.
• 46:41
Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, you know you're fighting for gas sometimes.
• 46:44
Speaker 3: But uh so again, I keep I keep going back
• 46:48
Speaker 3: to the book again. You said it's gonna have a
• 46:50
  Speaker 3: lot of pictures.
• 46:52
Speaker 10: Yeah, I'm spending the money. I'm gonna spend the money
• 46:56
Speaker 10: for color and hardback, and I'm Charlie and I. You know,
• 47:02
Speaker 10: we're partners on this, and I'm going to and I'm
• 47:05
Speaker 10: funding it, and I think we'll end up making a
• 47:08
Speaker 10: little money, but I want it to be a first
• 47:12
Speaker 10: class operation, right, And it's supposed to go for thirty
• 47:18
Speaker 10: four ninety five. I don't want to charge that much.
• 47:21
Speaker 10: And you know what, I thought you only made like
• 47:23
Speaker 10: a couple of dollars of a book. You you make
• 47:25
  Speaker 10: almost half.
• 47:27
Speaker 3: Are you going to do an audio version of the
• 47:28
Speaker 3: book too? I'd like to maybe have you narrating it.
• 47:31
Speaker 10: No, not me narrating. I like to narrate the parts
• 47:34
Speaker 10: that I wrote and have somebody else do it.
• 47:36
  Speaker 3: Okay, all right?
• 47:38
Speaker 10: And so you know, it's very it's just a very
• 47:44
Speaker 10: exciting prospect. Oh god, somebody just walked.
• 47:47
Speaker 3: Oh just TJ. He's back from vacation. He's fine. Does
• 47:51
Speaker 3: he work there, well, he's he's employed here and how
• 47:54
Speaker 3: much work he actually does. But he's back, he's off
• 47:57
Speaker 3: of he's dragging sand in here, off of a golf
• 48:00
Speaker 3: course from where we're talking to him. In a minute,
• 48:02
Speaker 3: I want to get your opinion on something going back
• 48:03
Speaker 3: to national politics for a moment, saw last night where
• 48:05
Speaker 3: the president or sometime yesterday on Truth Social, his social
• 48:09
Speaker 3: media platform. His new cause now is that he wants
• 48:12
Speaker 3: the team formerly known as the Washington Redskins and the
• 48:15
Speaker 3: team formerly known as the Cleveland Indians to change their
• 48:18
Speaker 3: names back the Indians, of course, the Guardians now after
• 48:22
Speaker 3: they're after the Guardian Bridge in Cleveland, and the Washington
• 48:25
Speaker 3: Tony Parrenzino's Redskins are now the are now the commanders.
• 48:29
Speaker 3: And this is what our president seems to be occupied
• 48:33
Speaker 3: with now very quickly.
• 48:34
Speaker 10: Yeah, let's just talk about Washington.
• 48:37
  Speaker 3: Okay.
• 48:39
Speaker 10: When they were building the apartment building, I'm in all
• 48:42
Speaker 10: the guys through and triball. I thought they were Cajun.
• 48:46
Speaker 10: They sounded dislike it. I said, are you off, Louise,
• 48:48
Speaker 10: Then it's a North Carolina, North Carolina. Yeah, we're American Indian.
• 48:53
Speaker 10: And they were delightful, and they had two leaders and
• 48:57
Speaker 10: they were in the place. I said, well, you know,
• 48:58
Speaker 10: they're going to change the name with the Redskins. And
• 49:02
Speaker 10: he said, he said, what's been that way for a
• 49:05
Speaker 10: long time? He said, Deanna said, is that okay with you?
• 49:09
  Speaker 12: Oh?
• 49:09
Speaker 10: Yeah, you know. He didn't care, but a lot of
• 49:12
Speaker 10: people do care. The problem is it's just a continuation
• 49:16
Speaker 10: of Donald Trump wasting political capital to gas light diversionary tactics. Yeah,
• 49:26
Speaker 10: and the same way with all these names. We've gotten
• 49:28
Speaker 10: through it. You want to name name it back? Fine?
• 49:33
Speaker 10: I mean I said Redskins for you know, I was
• 49:36
Speaker 10: watching the fifties and you know when Reigns was playing,
• 49:41
Speaker 10: I think that's what his name was. It was a
• 49:44
  Speaker 10: great team.
• 49:45
  Speaker 13: All right.
• 49:46
Speaker 3: Let me read a text here, Wow, says the texture.
• 49:48
Speaker 3: The revelation of Obama and his Marxist minions being behind
• 49:52

• 50:04
Speaker 10: It is. That is the most ridiculous accusation, and it's
• 50:08
Speaker 10: typical of this administration to make such And he can't
• 50:13
Speaker 10: defend himself, you know, needs to defend him one of
• 50:17
Speaker 10: two people, now, I'll do you. The first one George W.
• 50:20
Speaker 10: Bush and the second one is Mike Pence. Not a
• 50:23
Speaker 10: bunch of people, both two Republicans and George Bush. Despite
• 50:27
Speaker 10: that war, it's still well thought of, a very decent,
• 50:31
Speaker 10: religious human being. It's totally untrue.
• 50:36
Speaker 3: Have you seen the latest approval ratings Danny for Democrats nationwide?
• 50:41
Speaker 3: I mean, I know we're in West Virginia, but somewhere
• 50:44
Speaker 3: on the nationwide level the Democratic approval ratings like somewhere
• 50:47
Speaker 3: near the stomach flew. I mean, at this point, it's
• 50:50
Speaker 3: not good. You're head of the I'm going to make

Speaker 3: you head of the Democratic Now the DNC, you're head
• 50:55
Speaker 3: of the National Committee. How do you fix it?
• 50:57
Speaker 10: You can't. I would. I would say, if you want
• 50:59
Speaker 10: to win elections, follow Josh Shapiro and the governor of
• 51:08
Speaker 10: Colorado and the Republican governor of Utah. I am a
• 51:13
Speaker 10: mainstream guy, completely mainstream, capable of making mistakes. I did
• 51:20
Speaker 10: that what what we just started in a mistake. But
• 51:25
Speaker 10: I like to appeal to the middle. But you don't
• 51:27
Speaker 10: do it, and it's all anger on both sides, and
• 51:31
Speaker 10: you guess who the leading. You know, there's that that

Speaker 3: Donald Trump will not be in office. Possible, very possible.
• 52:04
Speaker 3: I'd have to think more about the date.
