- 0:04Speaker 1: All right, now, let's address the elephant in the room.
- 0:07Speaker 1: Because you because.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Of your Oh I have one and cruss on, says
- 0:13Speaker 2: the guy who munches on a muffin like an alphole.
- 0:15Speaker 3: There's no evidence of that here, there's.
- 0:18Speaker 1: Crumbs all over your tips. Now listen.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Because of your behavior, Neil Young's pulled his music off Spotify.
- 0:26Speaker 2: How's this?
- 0:27Speaker 3: I didn't even know who Neil Young was.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Get out or the other person that, Jennie Mitchell.
- 0:33Speaker 3: This is the thing they wanted to make a big look.
- 0:35Speaker 3: I'm just going to preface this by saying, I don't
- 0:37Speaker 3: care if you listen or don't listen to Joe Rogan.
- 0:40Speaker 3: But if you're going to come out and make a
- 0:42Speaker 3: big stance, I don't know. Just be somebody that people
- 0:45Speaker 3: have heard of, that you know everyone has heard of.
- 0:48Speaker 1: How can you not have heard of Neil Young?
- 0:50Speaker 2: What were you listening to in your Croatian childhood bottle?
- 0:58Speaker 2: That is my impression of Crow play school.
- 1:01Speaker 3: You're gonna get us canceled?
- 1:03Speaker 1: Wow, listen.
- 1:04Speaker 2: A video was released a Paul this week, Sady n
- 1:07Speaker 2: word we're talking about ni and obviously yes, but yeah,
- 1:12Speaker 2: wowo ha. Lucky to be here, Lucky to be here. Yes,
- 1:17Speaker 2: I look at you, fresh from the States, looking good,
- 1:20Speaker 2: nice and tanned. You always bring up your tan that
- 1:22Speaker 2: doesn't exist. You don't have a tan.
- 1:25Speaker 3: No, that's hair, it's a natural tan. It's really nice.
- 1:28Speaker 3: I am European.
- 1:28Speaker 2: You look like you've rubbed milo over yourself. Hey, now
- 1:32Speaker 2: we've got a mystery car of you coming up, right.
- 1:34Speaker 2: So you sent me this challenge of.
- 1:38Speaker 1: Reviewing.
- 1:38Speaker 2: I will say a Chinese car, yes, And then I thought,
- 1:41Speaker 2: oh no, And then I looked through all our emails,
- 1:47Speaker 2: all ten of them. Nine of them were from Tom
- 1:50Speaker 2: Baker trying to call you and cancel you out, but
- 1:53Speaker 2: one of them. But no, we did have a lot
- 1:55Speaker 2: of requests for this car, so I thought.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Fine, I'll do it. Yes, and we're gonna.
- 1:59Speaker 2: Chat about that very soon. But a car that I
- 2:02Speaker 2: am so so excited for kind of is the Nis
- 2:05Speaker 2: and z or Z Depending what kind of part of
- 2:09Speaker 2: the world you're from, Yes, exactly, yeap my impression. What
- 2:13Speaker 2: were your first impressions just by looking at this car?
- 2:15Speaker 3: Well, I like the back more than I like the front.
- 2:18Speaker 3: I think the back is iconic styling. The front there
- 2:21Speaker 3: and not so much. It looks a bit sort of
- 2:23Speaker 3: anonymous at the front there. But I know the guy
- 2:26Speaker 3: that's that's I guess developing this to Maroissan, So he's
- 2:30Speaker 3: the mister GTR.
- 2:31Speaker 1: Oh do you wanted to pick that game up? You dropped?
- 2:33Speaker 1: I know the guy who's just done this as an engineer.
- 2:37Speaker 3: I like him, is a good guy, so he I
- 2:40Speaker 3: think the fact that he's behind this means that it
- 2:42Speaker 3: will be good. Given the GTR and the last one
- 2:45Speaker 3: that I drive, the te Speck, I thought was out
- 2:47Speaker 3: of this world as the last GTR for Australia, So
- 2:50Speaker 3: I know that it'll be good. And what I'm curious
- 2:53Speaker 3: to see though, is I guess how it will be
- 2:56Speaker 3: priced in Australia, that's one thing, and how much available
- 3:00Speaker 3: there's going to be with all this semiconductor stuff. Tomroissan
- 3:03Speaker 3: has also said that he doesn't want to be involved
- 3:05Speaker 3: in anything hybrid related, so he will either step down
- 3:08Speaker 3: or the next GTR or the next iteration of this
- 3:10Speaker 3: car won't have any hybrid elements, which I don't know
- 3:14Speaker 3: will be the case. But yeah, I am excited.
- 3:16Speaker 2: What do you think I like it? I like I'm
- 3:18Speaker 2: kind of an ass man, like yourself. I did like
- 3:21Speaker 2: I did like the back of it more than I
- 3:23Speaker 2: like the front. I used to own a two sixties
- 3:26Speaker 2: Z back in the day. Yes, And you know we're
- 3:29Speaker 2: just saying, we're chatting off air. It's funny how we
- 3:32Speaker 2: have this warped version of history because everyone's.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Like, oh, the two sixties Z. What a car, What
- 3:38Speaker 1: a fantastic car.
- 3:40Speaker 2: I would dislocate my shoulder to turn that friggin thing,
- 3:43Speaker 2: like the V six in it.
- 3:45Speaker 1: It's heavy as it is a great car, Like I
- 3:47Speaker 1: loved it.
- 3:47Speaker 2: I loved getting in there feeling like a rock star,
- 3:50Speaker 2: like you feel pretty cool. But it wasn't the best
- 3:53Speaker 2: thing ever, do you know what I mean?
- 3:55Speaker 3: But that's that's a thing though, right, I don't think
- 3:59Speaker 3: any car really is the best thing ever. It's what
- 4:01Speaker 3: it means to you. And this is why people like
- 4:04Speaker 3: weird things, you know what I mean. Like a friend
- 4:07Speaker 3: of mine who is a car journalist, recently bought the
- 4:11Speaker 3: original oud Ett and I think that is the worst
- 4:14Speaker 3: looking car in the world, But to him it means something, right,
- 4:18Speaker 3: And I think the same thing with the two sixty.
- 4:20Speaker 3: It means something to you. And while you have fond
- 4:23Speaker 3: memories of it, if you drove it again, all you
- 4:26Speaker 3: do is complain about the lack of air conditioning, on
- 4:28Speaker 3: lack of power steering.
- 4:29Speaker 1: The trip from Melbourne to say Geelong would be half
- 4:31Speaker 1: a tank.
- 4:31Speaker 3: Yes, it was.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Incredible to go home, it cost me a full tank
- 4:35Speaker 1: and fuel.
- 4:35Speaker 2: It was crazy. It was a great car. But back
- 4:38Speaker 2: to the twenty twenty two versions, it looks great. Look
- 4:41Speaker 2: the front of it. I would have liked to have
- 4:43Speaker 2: seen slightly more aggressive styling.
- 4:45Speaker 1: That kind of it just looks vague.
- 4:48Speaker 3: There's not much going on there.
- 4:49Speaker 2: Yeah, it looks it almost looks too smooth, like the
- 4:51Speaker 2: originals had that kind of on the bonnet that raised
- 4:55Speaker 2: notch and I thought they could have made that a
- 4:58Speaker 2: little bit more cuss. But the back looks great. The
- 5:02Speaker 2: weird reflectors on the side, you can tell that's there,
- 5:04Speaker 2: probably for legal reasons.
- 5:06Speaker 3: I think that might be a US thing. I know
- 5:08Speaker 3: the US has a lot of dumb regulations like that,
- 5:10Speaker 3: and that could just be a US market thing. But
- 5:13Speaker 3: I am excited because they're bringing the manual back, so
- 5:16Speaker 3: it we'll have a six speed manual. It's basically a
- 5:20Speaker 3: faster version of the Infinity Q sixty Red Sport, which
- 5:23Speaker 3: we used to get here in Australia. But the problem
- 5:26Speaker 3: with that car was that it didn't have a limited
- 5:27Speaker 3: slip differential, so you had three hundred killer wots of
- 5:31Speaker 3: power going through one wheel. It was like driving a
- 5:33Speaker 3: powerful VL Commodore. So they're talking two ninety eight kilowats
- 5:37Speaker 3: of power four hundred and seventy five meters of talk
- 5:40Speaker 3: three leter twin turbo V six and they were going
- 5:42Speaker 3: it could be high four seconds oro to one hundred,
- 5:45Speaker 3: so pretty bloody quick.
- 5:46Speaker 1: They're good numbers. What do you make of the interior
- 5:49Speaker 1: on it?
- 5:50Speaker 3: Look the interior Nissen and interior just they're not you know,
- 5:55Speaker 3: they're getting there.
- 5:56Speaker 1: Yeah, it's frustrating to watch. Yeah, you know what I mean.
- 5:58Speaker 2: It reminds me a little bit of Subaru. It's like,
- 6:03Speaker 2: just come on, come on. I think they've done some
- 6:06Speaker 2: great elements in this. They've stayed true to the original
- 6:08Speaker 2: with the tacos at the front and the dash, and
- 6:11Speaker 2: you know, there's some iconic bits that they've redesigned and
- 6:14Speaker 2: kind of kept in which I think is really cool.
- 6:16Speaker 2: But it's the one I saw had the red leather
- 6:20Speaker 2: trim on.
- 6:21Speaker 1: Black and I'm like, come on, don't do that.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Yeah, So look I don't know. I think the interior
- 6:28Speaker 3: hopefully it will be secondary to the driving experience, and
- 6:30Speaker 3: I'm hoping that's where we'll end up with it.
- 6:32Speaker 2: Now, Paul jan Event Marrek tell me about the Toyota
- 6:38Speaker 2: lan Cruse A three hundred investigation. I'm putting your name
- 6:41Speaker 2: to it. It's all it's all you. You've gone out
- 6:44Speaker 2: and you're like you're digging around for dirt and there's
- 6:47Speaker 2: a little bit of hooha going on, a little bit
- 6:49Speaker 2: of money to be made in the semiconductor dubacle.
- 6:55Speaker 3: So this is of course Turtle Acruse are three hundred
- 6:57Speaker 3: series related. Now, I won't claim this. This is my
- 7:00Speaker 3: colleague Mike Costello.
- 7:02Speaker 1: Oh, Mike under the Baroez.
- 7:04Speaker 3: Under the three hundred series. So what we discovered if
- 7:08Speaker 3: you go on to car sales and have a look
- 7:10Speaker 3: at used three hundred series, there's a whole stack of
- 7:13Speaker 3: them there and a lot are listed as dealer used. Now,
- 7:17Speaker 3: it would be remarkable to me that if a customer
- 7:20Speaker 3: bought the car and said, oh, you know what, I'm
- 7:22Speaker 3: sick of this. I'm going to sell it now, and
- 7:23Speaker 3: I'll sell it back to the dealer and trade it
- 7:25Speaker 3: in for something else. Because that's the only way you
- 7:28Speaker 3: end up with a dealer used car, right. So that
- 7:31Speaker 3: then led us to start investigating what was going on here,
- 7:34Speaker 3: and what we found was a lot of these vehicles
- 7:37Speaker 3: had low k's on them. And what some dealers are
- 7:40Speaker 3: doing is there'll be a customer in the queue. So
- 7:42Speaker 3: let's pretend Gordy, he has ordered the three hundred series
- 7:45Speaker 3: dealer calls up and goes, hey, your car's arriving next week.
- 7:48Speaker 3: I'll give you twenty thousand dollars if you don't take
- 7:52Speaker 3: it away, and you go okay. So basically what they'll
- 7:56Speaker 3: do is register the car. You've bought it, you've delivered it.
- 8:00Speaker 3: It will then get given back to the dealer. You'll
- 8:02Speaker 3: get your twenty grand, and the dealer then lists it
- 8:05Speaker 3: for two hundred thousand dollars. So they're making an extra
- 8:08Speaker 3: twenty forty grand out of this, and they're listing it
- 8:10Speaker 3: as a used vehicle even though it has literally a
- 8:13Speaker 3: handful of k's on it. And what Toyota said to
- 8:15Speaker 3: start with, and they did this with the super as well,
- 8:18Speaker 3: that the dealers must hold their test drive stock for
- 8:22Speaker 3: at least six to twelve months. So that means the
- 8:24Speaker 3: dealer can't go, Okay, I've got three demonstrators. I'm going
- 8:26Speaker 3: to just sell them all immediately. So Toyota said, no,
- 8:29Speaker 3: you must not do that. So some dealers are getting
- 8:31Speaker 3: creative and they're going, well, if I can't sell that,
- 8:33Speaker 3: I was going to take the customer's car and resell that.
- 8:36Speaker 3: And Toyota's come out and said, we're investigating, and if
- 8:40Speaker 3: we find any dealer to be actively doing this, we're
- 8:44Speaker 3: going to Basically they've got a dealer council, they're going
- 8:50Speaker 3: to grill them and this could mean losing your dealer
- 8:53Speaker 3: license if they see this as damaging the Toyota brand.
- 8:57Speaker 3: Toyota has the right to the license, you as a
- 8:59Speaker 3: dealer don't, and I'm sure there will be clauses in
- 9:01Speaker 3: there about reputational damage and things like that. This is
- 9:05Speaker 3: reputational damage because the customer you fleece by charging them
- 9:08Speaker 3: two hundred grand for a one hundred and fifty thousand
- 9:11Speaker 3: dollar car won't ever come back because they're doing it
- 9:14Speaker 3: because they need it. And one good example of this
- 9:17Speaker 3: is Carnival. Right, A lot of people buy Carnival because
- 9:20Speaker 3: it's one of the few people movers that have engineering
- 9:25Speaker 3: work done to them to make them wheelchair accessible. So
- 9:28Speaker 3: we've got some family friends who bought an older Carnival
- 9:31Speaker 3: and they can basically fit two wheelchairs down the center aisle.
- 9:35Speaker 3: So Carnival is one of the few options you have.
- 9:37Speaker 3: What some dealers are doing is the same with Carnival,
- 9:40Speaker 3: where they're charging ten to fifteen twenty grand more for
- 9:42Speaker 3: this vehicle, and you then have some customers who actually
- 9:45Speaker 3: need this vehicle to transport a disabled child, and you're
- 9:50Speaker 3: going to then take twenty grand off them, which I
- 9:52Speaker 3: just find disgusting. So I think in this instance, Toyota
- 9:55Speaker 3: is doing the right thing by investigating. And if you're
- 9:57Speaker 3: a dealer that's doing this, I mean you have to
- 10:00Speaker 3: you have to have rocks in your head. You have
- 10:01Speaker 3: to be really too dumb to realize that you are
- 10:04Speaker 3: going to affect your reputation long term. You might be
- 10:07Speaker 3: making some money now, but when the market starts drying up, yeah,
- 10:10Speaker 3: I guess where people won't be coming back, and that
- 10:12Speaker 3: is your dealer.
- 10:12Speaker 1: It's yeah, you're right. It is such a dumb move.
- 10:14Speaker 2: I don't see any difference between say a dealership and
- 10:17Speaker 2: say a normal like a franchise, like a McDonald's franchise
- 10:21Speaker 2: just dicking around with the burgers and selling them for
- 10:24Speaker 2: a machine Laker prize.
- 10:25Speaker 3: At the end of an AFL game, the McDonald's next
- 10:28Speaker 3: to the stadium all of a sudden charges you twenty
- 10:30Speaker 3: dollars for a big Mac. It's like, yeah, so yeah,
- 10:34Speaker 3: I think that that really they need to have a
- 10:36Speaker 3: good look at themselves. And you just you can't be
- 10:39Speaker 3: a very good business person if you think that this
- 10:41Speaker 3: is a long term play.
- 10:43Speaker 1: So should we get into the mystery car review?
- 10:46Speaker 3: Girl?
- 10:46Speaker 1: Should we do this?
- 10:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:47Speaker 2: Okay, our New Zealand voiceover lady is about to reveal.
- 10:51Speaker 2: The Chinese car we have picked is the Heavile H six.
- 10:55Speaker 4: Prices from thirty two thousand, nine and ninety dollars with
- 10:59Speaker 4: the Premium Edition to thirty ninety dollars for the tops
- 11:03Speaker 4: big all wheel drive vent To Edition. The one we
- 11:06Speaker 4: reviewed is the Luxe Edition at thirty nine and ninety dollars.
- 11:11Speaker 1: Drive away have al aged six.
- 11:14Speaker 2: And Okay, first of all, I see what you've done here,
- 11:17Speaker 2: because I think your intention was to sort of say, hey,
- 11:21Speaker 2: you go, I go crap on about how much I
- 11:23Speaker 2: love European cars, Porscha and Ferrari and stuff like this.
- 11:26Speaker 2: Try a Chinese made car, and I've got this feeling
- 11:30Speaker 2: you'd be pleasantly surprised.
- 11:31Speaker 1: It's all right, yes, okay, I was a little surprised.
- 11:35Speaker 3: Okay, good in a good way or a bad way.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's funny like the name, Like I remember when Great
- 11:41Speaker 2: Wall hit the market, I was like, one, what a
- 11:44Speaker 2: weird name from motoring company.
- 11:45Speaker 3: Would be like us having a motoring company called Ularu.
- 11:48Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like that's a bit offensive comment. We'll get
- 11:52Speaker 1: bloody cans. Oh there we go. Oh it's even worse.
- 11:56Speaker 2: Got a big rock alfie INDI's just pulled this music Spotify.
- 12:01Speaker 2: When I think Great Wall, I'm like, I always think,
- 12:04Speaker 2: I don't know. I don't really have much of an
- 12:06Speaker 2: education on the Gray Wall. I think that old guy
- 12:07Speaker 2: who was like, you know, the kid in the back
- 12:09Speaker 2: of the car during that ad where it's like the telsrad, Yeah.
- 12:13Speaker 1: Why they make the Gray Wall of China.
- 12:15Speaker 2: Like Zimpur Naji goring to keep the rabbit at What
- 12:19Speaker 2: that kid should have asked is why is my dad
- 12:22Speaker 2: one hundred and eight years old?
- 12:25Speaker 3: The dad was disproportionately older than the child.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Dad had a bench.
- 12:29Speaker 3: In his card. Are you sure it wasn't the grandfather?
- 12:31Speaker 1: No, it was his dad.
- 12:33Speaker 3: How did you check that?
- 12:36Speaker 2: He should have been asking? And why is my mom
- 12:39Speaker 2: only seventeen years older than me? Because I've been to
- 12:43Speaker 2: school and done the mouth.
- 12:44Speaker 1: This doesn't work out anyway? What are we talking about?
- 12:49Speaker 1: Have will age six?
- 12:51Speaker 2: Okay, So the one that I reviewed was the Luxe
- 12:56Speaker 2: version YEP, which I love lux which is I guess
- 13:00Speaker 2: it's like a midspec it's mid spec, right, I guess
- 13:03Speaker 2: it's even now they've introduced the Ventra.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, that's so Inventor.
- 13:09Speaker 2: Yeah, Venta, thank you. It sits to that bottom mid range.
- 13:13Speaker 2: I've got prices here? What are we talking? Oh that's
- 13:15Speaker 2: it just under thirty six k for one of these
- 13:18Speaker 2: and seventy warranty, five years roadside assist. What else are
- 13:22Speaker 2: you getting? Five years capped price servicing as well? Okay,
- 13:26Speaker 2: let's just one. Let it sit in that thirty six
- 13:31Speaker 2: k for this. It's a mid size, but it's on
- 13:33Speaker 2: the larger side.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Well that's drive away as well. Yeah, often when we
- 13:38Speaker 3: quote prices, it's not drive away because you're not have
- 13:41Speaker 3: had to talk driveway prices unless you know where the
- 13:43Speaker 3: person's from or unless it's a national offer. So thirty
- 13:46Speaker 3: six grand in a Mazda six five will get you.
- 13:49Speaker 3: I mean, I don't know this exactly, but roughly right.
- 13:52Speaker 3: It will be a manual transmission in cloth seats. I
- 13:55Speaker 3: mean to think that you will get a vehicle here
- 13:57Speaker 3: that is so incredibly well whipped for that kind of money.
- 14:01Speaker 3: It means that someone who doesn't have a huge amount
- 14:05Speaker 3: of money to splash can actually get what is I
- 14:08Speaker 3: would term a pretty luxury vehicle. I mean that that
- 14:10Speaker 3: luck speck brings with it the leather, sort of appointed seats,
- 14:15Speaker 3: You've got power, driver's seat, duels, owned climate, eight speaker
- 14:18Speaker 3: sound system, radar, cruise control, privacy glass, three sixty camera,
- 14:23Speaker 3: led lights, like it comes with pretty much everything you need.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Just doing a quick walk around in this car, you
- 14:29Speaker 2: look at it at the front and that big imposing
- 14:32Speaker 2: grill it's got looks fantastic. The car I was driving
- 14:34Speaker 2: was black with the sort of chrome grill if you like,
- 14:38Speaker 2: it was big, it was imposing. It makes this car
- 14:40Speaker 2: look like it's got presents wrapping around the side. It
- 14:43Speaker 2: looks good. I mean, it's a great looking car. The
- 14:47Speaker 2: back with the one led strip that looks cool, and
- 14:51Speaker 2: that's what I.
- 14:51Speaker 3: Was saying to you, Like, if you showed that to
- 14:53Speaker 3: a person that didn't know what brand it was, you
- 14:56Speaker 3: were just assumed it's a European or a Japanese branded vehicle.
- 15:00Speaker 3: I'm seeing so many of these out on the road
- 15:02Speaker 3: because people are going, hold on, why would I pay
- 15:04Speaker 3: ten or fifteen twenty grand more for the equivalent Japanese
- 15:07Speaker 3: or European vehicle when I can just buy this, So
- 15:10Speaker 3: if you're not brand conscious, they're actually not a bad option.
- 15:13Speaker 3: And my thing with all of these cars is to
- 15:15Speaker 3: make sure that I guess you're buying a car that
- 15:20Speaker 3: is safe. So this has all the safety sort of
- 15:22Speaker 3: bells and whistles, but it hasn't been crash tested yet.
- 15:24Speaker 1: But it still hasn't.
- 15:26Speaker 3: So that's the only thing that I'm wary of that
- 15:28Speaker 3: you just need to be careful when you're buying these
- 15:31Speaker 3: things to just make sure that they do have a
- 15:33Speaker 3: safety rating. Often they will be crashed in China and
- 15:36Speaker 3: will have a safety rating there. But I don't mean
- 15:39Speaker 3: this just sound probably the way that it's going to sound,
- 15:41Speaker 3: but I wouldn't trust I would prefer it to be
- 15:47Speaker 3: an independent crash body that isn't based in their own country.
- 15:50Speaker 3: Crash testing these things often with other brands. You'll have
- 15:53Speaker 3: it crashed in Europe, the US and potentially Australia as well,
- 15:56Speaker 3: and that gives you a really good idea of how
- 15:58Speaker 3: it performs. Mustang was a good example. It got glowing
- 16:01Speaker 3: crash safety ratings in the States, and then when they
- 16:03Speaker 3: crashed it in Europe, the thing was appalling.
- 16:06Speaker 1: So so you heard it first.
- 16:07Speaker 2: Paul doesn't want this crush tested in China, and the
- 16:10Speaker 2: Food Fight has just just pulled their music off Spotify,
- 16:13Speaker 2: thank you. But yeah, I get Look, I get what
- 16:16Speaker 2: you mean. Everything in this car is great. The leather interior.
- 16:18Speaker 2: It's got these kind of cuts.
- 16:20Speaker 1: In the seats if you like, I don't know what
- 16:22Speaker 1: i'd call them cutouts, or.
- 16:24Speaker 3: Like the diamond quilting type stuff.
- 16:26Speaker 2: Well, there's no quilting. It's more like this sort of
- 16:28Speaker 2: I don't know. It just looks like there's separation in
- 16:31Speaker 2: the seats. There's not, but it just looks like it
- 16:32Speaker 2: the way they've stitched it. Do you know what I mean?
- 16:34Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm looking at it now, I see what you mean.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Yeah, it's there's no diamond quilting.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Is that a design thing?
- 16:39Speaker 2: Yes, a design thing, thank you. The screens are great.
- 16:42Speaker 2: I'm just going to call it a digit dash because
- 16:44Speaker 2: I hate a digital instrument cluster. The digit dash has
- 16:48Speaker 2: got everything you need on there and nothing you don't.
- 16:52Speaker 2: The infotainment system's pretty good. I am going to say
- 16:55Speaker 2: that this thing pissed me off because the Apple car
- 16:57Speaker 2: Play didn't work in it.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Yes, so let's talk about that for a second. So
- 17:01Speaker 3: the infoteme system I think is Android based, so it's
- 17:04Speaker 3: quite fast and sharp and very good. But you had
- 17:06Speaker 3: issues with getting car Play to work on it.
- 17:08Speaker 2: Yeah, and the one of the dealers came in and
- 17:11Speaker 2: helped me out, and it sort of worked. And then
- 17:14Speaker 2: I drove away and it paused and it didn't. And
- 17:16Speaker 2: then I turned the car off and left it for
- 17:19Speaker 2: a bit, turned it on and it worked.
- 17:20Speaker 1: Obviously.
- 17:21Speaker 2: I don't think this is a thing across the board.
- 17:23Speaker 2: I think this is just a one off, but not
- 17:26Speaker 2: great for a press car. I'll say that. Not a
- 17:29Speaker 2: great look from them, but probably in oversight. You know,
- 17:32Speaker 2: if you're going to spend if you're going to spend
- 17:34Speaker 2: any amount of money on a car, whether it's thirty
- 17:36Speaker 2: six K or one hundred and thirty six K. You'd
- 17:38Speaker 2: expect something like that to work. And given that, I
- 17:41Speaker 2: don't think it's got built in navigation, does it know.
- 17:43Speaker 3: A lot of these don't because it's one less thing
- 17:47Speaker 3: you have to worry about upgrading and annoying a customer
- 17:50Speaker 3: with there's less components insides, and I don't think.
- 17:52Speaker 2: They can ever really compete these days with Google Maps
- 17:55Speaker 2: or all Ways and that sort of stuff. So I
- 17:57Speaker 2: think that's a smart move. Driving from where I was
- 18:00Speaker 2: in the absolute outskirts of Sydney into back into it, it.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Was like, oh no, come on. I was really relying
- 18:06Speaker 1: on that and I'm shit with stuff like that.
- 18:08Speaker 2: But other than that, if you've got if you've got
- 18:11Speaker 2: a family, and you know you don't want to spend
- 18:13Speaker 2: a hell of a lot of money, you're getting you're
- 18:15Speaker 2: getting banged for your buck.
- 18:16Speaker 1: I think if I was going to.
- 18:18Speaker 2: Get super critical on this car, things like maybe the
- 18:23Speaker 2: suspension could need a bit of finessing. I think the
- 18:27Speaker 2: breaks as well, a little bit a little bit of
- 18:29Speaker 2: the handling. Where I'm getting at is Havil are in
- 18:33Speaker 2: a brilliant spot for a new car. They've got a
- 18:37Speaker 2: bit to go, but they're going in a great direction,
- 18:39Speaker 2: do you know what I mean?
- 18:40Speaker 3: Yeah, look, I completely agree, and that was one of
- 18:42Speaker 3: the things when we tested it, and our video is
- 18:44Speaker 3: live on YouTube with this, the suspension was very soft
- 18:49Speaker 3: and across our sin waves, which is the continuous undulations
- 18:53Speaker 3: at highway speeds, the thing almost left the ground like
- 18:55Speaker 3: it is way too soft and probably the only other
- 18:58Speaker 3: thing that I would call out as the dual much transmission,
- 19:00Speaker 3: it's it canbe a little dicky at times.
- 19:03Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, I don't think the normal person would kind
- 19:06Speaker 2: of be bothered with it.
- 19:08Speaker 3: Well just on inclines and stuff like that, but like
- 19:10Speaker 3: it's only a minor complaint. I thought it was punching enough.
- 19:13Speaker 3: But the thing that standouts for me, stands out for
- 19:15Speaker 3: me is how much room there is inside. Like Hughuge
- 19:18Speaker 3: is huge, so it feels bigger than the other competitors
- 19:21Speaker 3: like the six five and stuff. This feels much bigger.
- 19:23Speaker 3: So yeah, look, I'm a fan of it, and look,
- 19:26Speaker 3: I would recommend one, but as always I would just
- 19:28Speaker 3: tread lightly until it is crash tested. I know that
- 19:30Speaker 3: an cap here in Australia has a huge backlog of
- 19:33Speaker 3: cars due to COVID that they need to crash test,
- 19:35Speaker 3: and I'm almost one hundred percent sure this is on
- 19:37Speaker 3: their list.
- 19:38Speaker 2: So yeah, yeah, I'd definitely go for this as well.
- 19:42Speaker 2: Does it deserve to be sitting next to brands like Tucson,
- 19:45Speaker 2: Oh sorry, Hyundai or Toyota.
- 19:49Speaker 1: I think it's got a place. I think it should
- 19:50Speaker 1: definitely be on people's the top of people's lists.
- 19:54Speaker 2: As I said, there's some finessing to do, but for
- 19:56Speaker 2: a brand new brand generally in the market, they're at
- 20:00Speaker 2: a fantastic place and what they're offering is amazing for
- 20:04Speaker 2: the price. So yeah, definitely should be on your list.
- 20:06Speaker 3: And worth keeping in mind as well that these are
- 20:09Speaker 3: the best selling suv brand in China. You know, that's
- 20:13Speaker 3: why they feel so good. It's simply because they have
- 20:16Speaker 3: a lot of history in China.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Back in the studio together, it feels nice if you
- 20:23Speaker 2: say so, How dare you?
- 20:25Speaker 1: I flew down here for this.
- 20:27Speaker 2: I flew I got on a COVID infested plane and
- 20:30Speaker 2: flew down.
- 20:31Speaker 1: I told my wife I was going.
- 20:32Speaker 2: For a business meeting, but I was here to hang
- 20:34Speaker 2: out with my mate. Of course, I'm not coming down
- 20:37Speaker 2: here for a business meeting. I sit behind a microphone
- 20:40Speaker 2: for a living and talk into a stick.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Well, that was fun. Anyway, I thought we would have
- 20:46Speaker 3: a quick chat about some of the feedback that we've
- 20:48Speaker 3: got and it's not good, and it's mainly Paul got
- 20:54Speaker 3: the good feedback we got. One of the emails that
- 20:57Speaker 3: we got was from George, who said, lads, sheers for
- 21:00Speaker 3: answering my question in episode four.
- 21:02Speaker 1: That was cool at Oh George is back.
- 21:04Speaker 3: Okay, loving the show to you make a great duo
- 21:07Speaker 3: and the episodes flow nicely from friendly banter to informative
- 21:11Speaker 3: and engaging content. Really well, I'm gonna have to point
- 21:15Speaker 3: out here that Gordy was indeed incorrect. I was on
- 21:18Speaker 3: an A three eighty, not a seventh or seventh.
- 21:21Speaker 1: As an engineering.
- 21:24Speaker 2: You will close one of those people that would have
- 21:27Speaker 2: like sat on the bonnot of your car and like
- 21:28Speaker 2: plane watched.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Is that your thing? I feel like that is your thing.
- 21:33Speaker 2: That's why you wanted to move Bloody to geelongs it
- 21:35Speaker 2: could be closer to Avalon.
- 21:37Speaker 1: Because I like the domestic flights. She was an engineer
- 21:42Speaker 1: and river slacks and sensible shirt on. Okay, anyway, he says,
- 21:49Speaker 1: I'm a pilot and there's.
- 21:50Speaker 3: Nothing more satisfying than grinding the gears with an OCD
- 21:53Speaker 3: engineer by calling things the wrong thing, which I think
- 21:56Speaker 3: Gody was potentially doing it on purpose.
- 21:59Speaker 1: What's his George, George shut up?
- 22:05Speaker 3: He does work a good point though. He says we
- 22:07Speaker 3: should review the new WRX, and I am looking forward
- 22:09Speaker 3: to doing that because it's had good reviews overseas. You
- 22:12Speaker 3: know what, we'll be the judge of that.
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, there's a lot of cars that have that have
- 22:16Speaker 2: had great reviews and we get in them and we're like.
- 22:18Speaker 1: This is a bucket of shit.
- 22:21Speaker 3: Exactly, So do you know what I mean?
- 22:23Speaker 2: Though, like there is some of these some of these
- 22:27Speaker 2: don't trust these overseas journalists.
- 22:29Speaker 1: They're all taking the money.
- 22:33Speaker 3: But yeah, if you want to be like George and
- 22:35Speaker 3: send us an email contact at the Drive Show dot
- 22:37Speaker 3: com today. You please email us, send us.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Anything, okays As a non engineer, an easier way to
- 22:42Speaker 2: do it would be to jump on our Instagram, which
- 22:44Speaker 2: is at the Drive Show dot com dot Au and
- 22:46Speaker 2: just click on message. That's easy and most most people

- 23:10Speaker 1: wheelchair access.
- 23:11Speaker 3: Sorry.
- 23:12Speaker 1: It's about twenty grand more than I was opening.
- 23:14Speaker 2: One thing I didn't do was I want to shout
- 23:17Speaker 2: out to Steve from Havell because there was a lot
- 23:21Speaker 2: of bug rising around and Steve Scottish Scottish Stephen. He
- 23:26Speaker 2: came to the party and He's like, God, what do
- 23:28Speaker 2: you want? And I'm like, man, I need to have
- 23:30Speaker 2: all asaps.
- 23:31Speaker 1: Do you want the Jollian or do you want the
- 23:33Speaker 1: Age six.
- 23:35Speaker 2: I didn't recommend the Jollion because it's reminds me of
- 23:38Speaker 2: a young boy I used to go to school with well, Julian.
- 23:41Speaker 2: I was a castle mover. His mother used to say, Julian,
- 23:47Speaker 2: have you got your condoms? I was bewildered. Anyway, godn
- 23:53Speaker 2: what's your what car? Do you want your And I'm like,
- 23:57Speaker 2: just give me the eight six, the Edge six, give
- 24:00Speaker 2: it to you. You got it, don't worry about anything anyway.
- 24:03Speaker 2: Shout out to Scottish Stephen.
- 24:06Speaker 3: Yeah, he's a legend. Of a bloke.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Good guy he is.
- 24:08Speaker 3: He's a legend of a bloke. So I'm glad he
- 24:10Speaker 3: was able to help out.
- 24:11Speaker 2: He was good, he was a good all right. Please
