- 0:03Speaker 1: Family owned and operated since nineteen seventy two.
- 0:06Speaker 2: Stepcheck Service Center twenty two hundred longmyre just down from
- 0:09Speaker 2: the post office in College Station and.
- 0:12Speaker 3: Your host Chip Howard the Writer's Round Table.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Welcome here.
- 0:16Speaker 2: Glad to have you with us on this Monday edition
- 0:19Speaker 2: of the program. This portion of the show is brought
- 0:21Speaker 2: to you by Radiant Dentistry. Coming up, we're going to
- 0:25Speaker 2: hear from a couple of Aggie football players. We've got
- 0:29Speaker 2: some postgame Ranger news. Also, we have got our final
- 0:36Speaker 2: SEC preview and today it's the Longhorns. Tomorrow it's the Predictions.
- 0:47Speaker 2: So I've got that little look forward to. And in
- 0:51Speaker 2: the second hour, Rusty and Cease will join me for
- 0:56Speaker 2: the Writer's Roundtablestros didn't like losing series at home to Seattle,
- 1:06Speaker 2: Oakland and Anaheim, so they fired their manager and their
- 1:14Speaker 2: general manager. Today, Joe Espata, according to an original report
- 1:19Speaker 2: by USA Today, has been informed that he will not
- 1:24Speaker 2: get a new contract. Was given the option to finish
- 1:28Speaker 2: out the season or leave. He chose to finish out
- 1:32Speaker 2: the season. It was announced before then that Dana Brown,
- 1:37Speaker 2: the GM had been fired, transferred to Charles Cook, Davin,
- 1:43Speaker 2: Dicky Connor, Huff and senior advisor Jeff Bagwell. So apparently
- 1:49Speaker 2: it takes four people to replace Brown. Owner and chairman
- 1:55Speaker 2: Jim Crane will oversee baseball operations through the transition period.
- 2:02Speaker 1: Brown's been there for four years.
- 2:04Speaker 2: They released the requisite statements, but they haven't done well lately.
- 2:11Speaker 2: As for Espata, he has made a couple of in
- 2:16Speaker 2: game blunders recently, and like I said, the team has
- 2:21Speaker 2: lost three home series, but they're still tied for first
- 2:27Speaker 2: place in the wild wacky Al West. The Astros gave
- 2:33Speaker 2: up a six run lead at home yesterday and lost
- 2:41Speaker 2: to Oakland, which has one of the worst records in
- 2:45Speaker 2: baseball at fifty one to eighty. But heck, the Rangers
- 2:49Speaker 2: have been doing that for a while. But they've won
- 2:53Speaker 2: three home series in a row.
- 2:55Speaker 1: Can you believe it? Huh?
- 2:57Speaker 2: Can you believe it? They beat the angel five to
- 3:00Speaker 2: three yesterday. The Rangers and the Astros are both sixty
- 3:06Speaker 2: five and sixty six. And Seattle, which has lost a
- 3:15Speaker 2: couple of games lately and given up like forty runs
- 3:20Speaker 2: in the process. I kid you not, there's still only
- 3:24Speaker 2: are they three games out? There's still only three games
- 3:28Speaker 2: out of the West. I mean, this is some crazy stuff.
- 3:35Speaker 1: Now.
- 3:36Speaker 2: I don't know why, but Kumar Rocker is starting tonight
- 3:42Speaker 2: in Chicago against the White Sox.
- 3:45Speaker 1: Again.
- 3:46Speaker 2: I've got no clue why they keep running him out there,
- 3:50Speaker 2: but they do, and he will get the start this evening.
- 3:56Speaker 1: He is four and ten with an ERA of four
- 4:02Speaker 1: four six.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Jose Or Kweedie, who used to pitch in Houston, is
- 4:07Speaker 2: pitching for the White Sox tonight in Chicagi. The Aggie
- 4:15Speaker 2: football team took yesterday off practice Today will practice tomorrow
- 4:24Speaker 2: as well, and after practice coach Mike Elko will be
- 4:31Speaker 2: made available to the team and also defensive coordinator Lyle Hemphill.
- 4:42Speaker 2: Actually Lyle Hemphill will be made available to the team tomorrow.
- 4:47Speaker 2: The Cleveland Browns have wave tied end DAYK one.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Right, Why do we care about that?
- 4:55Speaker 2: Because he's apparently going to go from being way the
- 5:00Speaker 2: Browns to playing for LSU. Believed to be the first
- 5:05Speaker 2: player to have an agreement to return to play in
- 5:08Speaker 2: college after signing for an NFL team as an undrafted
- 5:13Speaker 2: free agent. Now, the SEC could put a stop to
- 5:18Speaker 2: this if they wanted to, but they don't want to,
- 5:23Speaker 2: and Ryan Day has already said, hey, if they're doing it.
- 5:29Speaker 1: We're going to do it.
- 5:32Speaker 2: The executive director of ole Missus Nil Collective says that
- 5:38Speaker 2: FBI agents searched the Rebels football office for recording devices
- 5:45Speaker 2: after Lane Kiffen left for LSU. Walker Jones told a
- 5:52Speaker 2: podcast that FBI officials search the offices for bugs at
- 5:58Speaker 2: the Manning Center once kiff less. He said, we knew
- 6:03Speaker 2: kind of what was in Baton Rouge. We knew how
- 6:07Speaker 2: they operated. I remember getting on my knees and looking
- 6:11Speaker 2: underneath the desk, checking for something like, is there a
- 6:16Speaker 2: bug in my office?
- 6:18Speaker 1: When I ask why, and when I was asked why.
- 6:21Speaker 2: Jones said, trust me, you don't know this guy, meaning Kiffin,
- 6:28Speaker 2: like I do. Meanwhile, Tennessee coach Josh Hipel has named
- 6:34Speaker 2: two true freshman face On Brandon as the vault starting quarterback.
- 6:40Speaker 2: A six to four pocket passer out of Greensboro, North Carolina,
- 6:45Speaker 2: signed last December spent the off season competing with George McIntyre.
- 6:53Speaker 2: Brendan will make his college debut against Furman a week
- 6:58Speaker 2: from Saturday. The Vaults are ranked twentieth in the AP Poll.
- 7:05Speaker 2: San Francisco forty nine Ers owner Jed York has pleaded
- 7:10Speaker 2: no contest to a pair of mis demeanor charges after
- 7:16Speaker 2: being arrested in Ohio on suspicion of engaging prostitution.
- 7:24Speaker 1: I'm not making this up.
- 7:26Speaker 2: According to the Columbiana, Ohio court records, police arrested York
- 7:33Speaker 2: Sunday with a charge description of engaging engaging in prostitution.
- 7:39Speaker 2: It was then amended to a misdemeanor disorderly conduct after
- 7:44Speaker 2: York pleted no contest to that, and an additional misdemeanor
- 7:50Speaker 2: charge of possessing criminal tools. The circumstance of the arrest
- 7:58Speaker 2: is unclear. He was arrested at nine thirty Sunday morning
- 8:03Speaker 2: at the Wheat Hill mobile home community on the south
- 8:09Speaker 2: end of town. I can't make any of this up,
- 8:17Speaker 2: court records say. The local prosecutor filed the plea deal
- 8:22Speaker 2: this morning, as York pleaded no contest, paid eleven hundred
- 8:27Speaker 2: and fifty dollars in fines, was sentenced to one day
- 8:33Speaker 2: in jail for each charge, with a day already considered served.
- 8:40Speaker 2: The NFL said in the statement, the league is aware
- 8:45Speaker 2: of the matter, which will be reviewed under the Personal
- 8:50Speaker 2: Conduct Policy.
- 8:55Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 8:57Speaker 2: I don't know, and yesterday may or may not have
- 9:01Speaker 2: been the final live Golf tournament in Indianapolis. Forbes estimates
- 9:10Speaker 2: that John rob earned one hundred and seven million dollars
- 9:15Speaker 2: last year, making him the seventh highest paid athlete in
- 9:20Speaker 2: the world now.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Taylor Gooch earned over.
- 9:27Speaker 2: Nine million in five and a half seasons on the
- 9:32Speaker 2: PGA Tour. At Live Indy, he surpassed sixty eight million
- 9:39Speaker 2: dollars even though he has only one individual win in
- 9:45Speaker 2: the last three years. It doesn't include a thirty million
- 9:51Speaker 2: dollar signing bonus. And you know, you wonder why the
- 9:55Speaker 2: Saudi said. I think we've bled enough money even for
- 10:00Speaker 2: the Saudis. I don't think we're giving you any more money.
- 10:06Speaker 2: Greg Norman, who was kind of the founder and the
- 10:09Speaker 2: face of Live Golf, told Alan Shipnak, I'm sad, disappointed, gutted,
- 10:16Speaker 2: to be honest, I hate to see it whither away.
- 10:20Speaker 1: I would rather just see it in.
- 10:24Speaker 2: Meanwhile, the FedEx Cup of the PGA is down to
- 10:29Speaker 2: its last thirty golfers. They will start round one Thursday
- 10:37Speaker 2: at East Lake in Atlanta and the winner will get
- 10:45Speaker 2: a ten million dollar bonus. So we'll see how all
- 10:51Speaker 2: this plays out.
- 10:52Speaker 1: Okay, um, We're going to take a break.
- 10:59Speaker 2: We will have the writers coming up in the second hour.
- 11:05Speaker 2: We've got a few things to talk about. We've got
- 11:08Speaker 2: our SEC preview. We're going to hear from Aggie Wide
- 11:13Speaker 2: Receiver Terry Bussy. All of that after this for Chad
- 11:19Speaker 2: Jones Law.
- 12:55Speaker 4: I'm Chad Jones. We know sports injuries hurt, and so
- 12:58Speaker 4: do injuries from car wrecks. You didn't sign up to
- 13:00Speaker 4: be in a car wreck with someone who wasn't paying attention.
- 13:03Speaker 4: It was their fault and now you're left to deal
- 13:05Speaker 4: with the consequences. You need to see a doctor, and
- 13:07Speaker 4: you're missing work. Chad Jones Law can help. We've been
- 13:10Speaker 4: helping our neighbors for more than two decades. Stop getting
- 13:13Speaker 4: frustrated with the other side's foot dragging. Remember, don't get mad.

- 13:25Speaker 5: Listen to the Houston estras on the Zone thanks to
- 13:28Speaker 5: Kelly bir Dozer.
- 13:38Speaker 6: Love.
- 13:40Speaker 7: Here's a burning thing and it makes a fiery ringing.
- 13:51Speaker 7: Bound by wild desire, I fell into.
- 13:58Speaker 6: A ring on the fire.
- 14:02Speaker 7: I'm bill into a burning ring up fire.
- 14:05Speaker 2: We love computers here That's why I'm so excited with
- 14:11Speaker 2: the new AI technology.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'm sure it will work just as well.
- 14:15Speaker 2: Did you see the robots sprinting at the track meet
- 14:19Speaker 2: this weekend?
- 14:20Speaker 1: Did you see that?
- 14:22Speaker 2: Did you see the robot breaking the one hundred meter
- 14:25Speaker 2: world record? Did you see the robot running into the
- 14:33Speaker 2: restraining wall at the end of the track because they
- 14:36Speaker 2: didn't program him to stop once he started, and the
- 14:40Speaker 2: fire department coming out and sprang him down with sparks everywhere.
- 14:44Speaker 2: It looked like a NASCAR crash.
- 14:48Speaker 1: And just like in real life.
- 14:52Speaker 2: Apparently one of the robots blew out his knee running
- 14:56Speaker 2: the curve on the two twenty. I'm not making this up.
- 15:00Speaker 2: I know what I saw, and it is crazy, just crazy,
- 15:09Speaker 2: But hey, this is.
- 15:14Speaker 1: This is life now in the twenty first century, right.
- 15:19Speaker 1: It's just I know you saw that and it was
- 15:23Speaker 1: like a Simpsons episode. It's like a cartoon.
- 15:28Speaker 2: I'm really looking forward to Roadrunner, I mean, Coyote versus
- 15:33Speaker 2: Acme this weekend. By the way, they're finally releasing it.
- 15:37Speaker 2: But I'm telling you it just it did not look real.
- 15:42Speaker 2: But these robots, they were blazing down the track and
- 15:47Speaker 2: I don't even know where that was it had to
- 15:49Speaker 2: be in Europe because only Europeans go to track events.
- 15:55Speaker 2: Nobody goes to track events in America, and that had
- 15:59Speaker 2: to be in Europe. But it was just it was crazy,
- 16:04Speaker 2: absolutely crazy. Okay, we are We're gonna hear from Terry
- 16:11Speaker 2: Bussey by all accounts, one of the guys in camp
- 16:17Speaker 2: who has stood out, who has made a big leap,
- 16:22Speaker 2: and who's looking forward to being even more active in
- 16:30Speaker 2: the twenty twenty sixth season.
- 16:32Speaker 8: What's this off season been like for you and what's
- 16:35Speaker 8: been in some of the focuses of the off seasons.
- 16:37Speaker 8: It seems like it's made a difference at least in
- 16:40Speaker 8: fucking for sure.
- 16:42Speaker 9: I mean the big off things for me being able
- 16:45Speaker 9: to get back healthy, my body feeling right, probably best
- 16:48Speaker 9: my body field since I've gotten to college. It's overall
- 16:52Speaker 9: this summer and it's bringing out working on being a
- 16:54Speaker 9: bitter receiver overall, just at the Monu scrimage, moving people
- 16:59Speaker 9: in my rose, being able to greace separation and stuff
- 17:02Speaker 9: like that.
- 17:02Speaker 8: What did that look like, Uh, when you was talking
- 17:04Speaker 8: about building strings but also trying to do stuff to
- 17:08Speaker 8: help keep you healthy too, what it was that kind
- 17:10Speaker 8: of look like?
- 17:10Speaker 10: Over than anything.
- 17:12Speaker 9: Uh, just overall learning what my body could take. I mean,
- 17:14Speaker 9: coming from a small school, I was just doing everything.
- 17:16Speaker 9: My body was pretty much burnt out.
- 17:18Speaker 6: Uh.
- 17:18Speaker 9: So not trying to put myself through too much. Uh
- 17:21Speaker 9: with the workhouse we got here and stuff like that.
- 17:23Speaker 9: Not trying to do too much, too extra, uh, but
- 17:25Speaker 9: to do it enough so I can get myself ready
- 17:27Speaker 9: for the season.
- 17:28Speaker 6: Where were you where you get a little bit back
- 17:29Speaker 6: of the spring, It's just like from where you.
- 17:31Speaker 10: Got into a hundred percent.
- 17:32Speaker 11: Uh.
- 17:33Speaker 6: I had a little angry injury in the spring. Uh
- 17:35Speaker 6: sent me back a little bit.
- 17:36Speaker 9: But UH got back from that really really really quick,
- 17:38Speaker 9: So I it wasn't too bad.
- 17:40Speaker 6: Uh wasn't into too major. Do you go you undergone
- 17:43Speaker 6: any like physical changes like weight games?
- 17:45Speaker 10: Uh?
- 17:46Speaker 9: You know, Uh yeah, definitely. I probably gained about ten
- 17:48Speaker 9: pounds uh over the years. So I just overrolled. My
- 17:51Speaker 9: body feel was much stronger, say at the same percentage
- 17:54Speaker 9: body fat wise.
- 17:54Speaker 6: So I just so roll with you.
- 17:56Speaker 9: My body stronger, being able to take more and more plans,
- 17:58Speaker 9: more and cuts, more hits and stuff like that.
- 18:00Speaker 6: And you felt like to suspend a stronger fall game.
- 18:03Speaker 10: That you've been wanting the standouts in fult game super.
- 18:06Speaker 6: Uh yeah, not even just being a standout.
- 18:08Speaker 9: I mean just going back for my film for my
- 18:10Speaker 9: freshman year and even last year year, seeing improvements I
- 18:13Speaker 9: made at the line of Experiema jim My Rows and
- 18:15Speaker 9: just being able to come out of my brakes and
- 18:17Speaker 9: stuff like that. Just see an overall difference and uh,
- 18:19Speaker 9: the player I became as a received as a receiver position.
- 18:21Speaker 12: And since you've been here for three years, what has
- 18:23Speaker 12: been the one thing that you've improved on or what
- 18:26Speaker 12: you improve keep improved beyond?
- 18:27Speaker 9: Uh coming into this year, Uh, definitely my football iqu
- 18:31Speaker 9: I mean I brought myself up in one of the
- 18:33Speaker 9: smartest players on the field. So just being able to
- 18:36Speaker 9: get in the film room, just knowing coverages and where I.
- 18:39Speaker 6: Need to be when I need to be there and
- 18:40Speaker 6: stuff like that.
- 18:41Speaker 2: What a fair What's a fair expectation I'm going to
- 18:44Speaker 2: expect from you and the.
- 18:46Speaker 10: Production once this year?
- 18:47Speaker 6: Uh, I probably just i'm'a do anything to help us win. Uh.
- 18:51Speaker 9: Whatever I need to do to help us win, i'm'a
- 18:52Speaker 9: do that. If it need to be a lot, i'm'a
- 18:54Speaker 9: do that. If it needs to be a little i'm'a
- 18:55Speaker 9: be i'm'a do that. So whatever it takes to win,
- 18:57Speaker 9: that's what I wanna do. Type of player I am
- 18:59Speaker 9: now us so far?
- 19:00Speaker 10: Is there anything that this offense key do you that
- 19:02Speaker 10: maybe they couldn't do last year? Uh?
- 19:07Speaker 9: I wouldn't say nothing we couldn't do last year, But
- 19:08Speaker 9: I mean, I f I feel like we got a
- 19:10Speaker 9: lot more guys that's matured and that could make plays.
- 19:13Speaker 9: I mean, you put the ball in anybody hands and
- 19:15Speaker 9: it could be an explosive play just like that. So
- 19:18Speaker 9: I mean just feel like we got more depth, uh
- 19:20Speaker 9: in the rooms, and I feel like we do a
- 19:23Speaker 9: lot more with a bunch of different people.
- 19:24Speaker 6: So if we've.
- 19:25Speaker 8: Had over the last couple of years, and just how
- 19:28Speaker 8: you felt physically and the body changes, cause it felt be.
- 19:30Speaker 10: Like a homework Fela been kind of clicked for you
- 19:32Speaker 10: and you kind of felt like, hey, like this is
- 19:34Speaker 10: what I've been trying to get that all the time.
- 19:36Speaker 7: Uh.
- 19:36Speaker 9: Definitely in the spring, I mean first day out there,
- 19:39Speaker 9: I mean I was out there feeling good. Uh by
- 19:42Speaker 9: probably running out there running in the warm up. I'm
- 19:44Speaker 9: like the best of my bodies felt since I've been there.
- 19:46Speaker 9: So just just overall just being able to feel good.
- 19:48Speaker 9: I mean, you feel good, you play good. So they
- 19:50Speaker 9: being able to my body feeling good.
- 19:52Speaker 8: If you thought when getting attached a couple of weeks ago,
- 19:54Speaker 8: they put it on social media and anything, you feel
- 19:56Speaker 8: like that was a highlight of the the fault here
- 19:59Speaker 8: for you. So do you feel like that maybe was
- 20:01Speaker 8: a uh a culmination.
- 20:02Speaker 10: Of the work you put it in the offseason?
- 20:05Speaker 6: Uh?
- 20:06Speaker 9: Nah, cause the night before I had the exact same play,
- 20:08Speaker 9: exact same situation, and I ended up dropping it.
- 20:11Speaker 6: So I mean we just ran it back and I
- 20:13Speaker 6: made the play that time.
- 20:15Speaker 10: I think maybe the biggest adjusting between the injuries and.
- 20:20Speaker 13: Smoke, coming from a small school and changing positions was
- 20:23Speaker 13: was that kind of hard for the first couple of years.
- 20:24Speaker 10: And do you feel like now it's just kind of
- 20:26Speaker 10: old places to come together for you?
- 20:28Speaker 9: Uh, the changing position stuff, it wouldn't have hard. I'm
- 20:30Speaker 9: an athlete, I can I feel like I can do that.
- 20:32Speaker 9: It was just overall just understand where my body could
- 20:34Speaker 9: take and uh where it came. I mean, as you
- 20:36Speaker 9: get older, as you grow, as your body mature, Uh,
- 20:39Speaker 9: you can't put too much stuff on your body. You
- 20:41Speaker 9: can't do too much, extra, too much, a little and
- 20:43Speaker 9: stuff like that. So just overall learning where my body
- 20:45Speaker 9: could take and stuff.
- 20:46Speaker 6: That's your cause probably you uh has a long resly changed.
- 20:50Speaker 6: And so what kind of reaction have you got when you.
- 20:52Speaker 10: Go home in Tennessee?
- 20:54Speaker 9: Nah, everybody say, I look a little biger, little biggers.
- 20:56Speaker 9: I mean, uh, that's what comes with growing up, alright.
- 21:00Speaker 13: Your versus are just being able to you know, play
- 21:03Speaker 13: different positions, running back, Jesse sweet all those kind of things.
- 21:07Speaker 10: What does that bringing the song offense? And and what
- 21:09Speaker 10: do you kind of enjoys mouse song? Different reason?
- 21:12Speaker 6: Uh? Just coming from the quarterback position.
- 21:14Speaker 9: You mean you had a ball in your hands every
- 21:16Speaker 9: play and you want that, so I mean just being
- 21:18Speaker 9: able to go everywhere do everything.
- 21:19Speaker 6: I mean, uh, it's over all the fun experience. You
- 21:22Speaker 6: get to see the football game from a different perspective
- 21:24Speaker 6: every time.
- 21:25Speaker 13: That help you wh playing quarterback to being do all
- 21:28Speaker 13: those different things?
- 21:29Speaker 6: What what?
- 21:29Speaker 14: What?
- 21:29Speaker 10: Always be that old game?
- 21:31Speaker 9: I would definitely understand its schemes and not just routes
- 21:33Speaker 9: and stuff like that. Understanding what people supposed to be
- 21:35Speaker 9: when they supposed to be there the time and of
- 21:37Speaker 9: the routes. When I need to get here when I
- 21:39Speaker 9: need to break and stuff like that. I mean to
- 21:40Speaker 9: help helped me a lot.
- 21:41Speaker 15: Coach Wiggins said, this, uh told us that the receiver
- 21:46Speaker 15: room tell like their dangers.
- 21:48Speaker 6: Is that something that's just telling yall?
- 21:49Speaker 2: Or is this something he's talking about with some mean
- 21:51Speaker 2: just tells us or is that something he talks about
- 21:53Speaker 2: with y'all?
- 21:54Speaker 6: Nah that we we definitely know that, we know, we
- 21:56Speaker 6: know everybody in that room got.
- 21:57Speaker 9: They different skill sets and stuff like they really good at.
- 21:59Speaker 9: I mean, we all can do pretty much everything, but
- 22:01Speaker 9: you got guys that can do pretty much that like
- 22:04Speaker 9: their main focus.
- 22:05Speaker 6: I mean you got asking by the room.
- 22:06Speaker 9: I mean he's a Blazer, he gonna he and he
- 22:08Speaker 9: could run routes and stuff like that. Then you gotta
- 22:10Speaker 9: be bodies aid, I mean he shifty four and seven.
- 22:14Speaker 9: You got Mario crave and stuff like that.
- 22:16Speaker 7: If Mario and Ashton or Blazer said isaya, it's a
- 22:19Speaker 7: big body out.
- 22:20Speaker 10: How do you describe yourself?
- 22:22Speaker 9: I mean you pretty much mixed them both together. Sh
- 22:25Speaker 9: you get me? Yeah, I'm playing.
- 22:27Speaker 6: I mean I feel like I probably myself.
- 22:28Speaker 9: On being able to do everything A little bit of big,
- 22:30Speaker 9: big kind of receiver fast shift and stuff like that.
- 22:33Speaker 6: I pretty much wanted to be able to do everything cause.
- 22:35Speaker 10: You put on those two exture counts.
- 22:36Speaker 8: Have you found is there any adjustice period in any
- 22:39Speaker 8: parts of your gamers or things that can kind of
- 22:41Speaker 8: discover I can do that now.
- 22:42Speaker 10: And then guy couldn't done did it before?
- 22:45Speaker 9: Uh, I wasn't as big as uh on like a
- 22:48Speaker 9: leaning on guys and stuff like that. I mean I
- 22:49Speaker 9: was always strong so I could do it. But now
- 22:51Speaker 9: I feel like I put my body in between people
- 22:53Speaker 9: may catch it that I probably couldn't make a year ago.
- 22:55Speaker 6: Are you to venture saying, uh, yeah, a little bit.
- 22:58Speaker 10: If you're if you were you're which one do you
- 23:00Speaker 10: think you be?
- 23:04Speaker 9: An Avenger? I would be say thor a little bit
- 23:09Speaker 9: of thor or. I mean he's strong, got a lot
- 23:14Speaker 9: of power, but like that's what that's what I am,
- 23:18Speaker 9: like that type of player.
- 23:18Speaker 6: I am special teams.
- 23:22Speaker 13: Uh, what would you think you'd bring the big off
- 23:24Speaker 13: this heid your last year seria?
- 23:26Speaker 6: If you think he will bring ben?
- 23:29Speaker 10: Uh?
- 23:30Speaker 9: If I get if I get enough of opportunities, I
- 23:33Speaker 9: mean feel like I could reenact some of the stuff
- 23:36Speaker 9: I did last year even more.
- 23:38Speaker 6: What would a successful twenty sixth season look like for
- 23:41Speaker 6: Terry winning the national championship, win AU championship.
- 23:46Speaker 2: That would be a successful season when in the SEC
- 23:49Speaker 2: and the Natty. Uh, and that's Terry Bussey as thor
- 23:57Speaker 2: So there you go like that. I've seen all of
- 24:04Speaker 2: the outrage that the end of college football is near.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Now that LSU is apparently going to sign somebody that
- 24:12Speaker 2: was released from an NFL team, I've got a couple
- 24:18Speaker 2: of questions. My question is do you want anybody that's
- 24:21Speaker 2: not good enough to play for the Cleveland Browns?
- 24:25Speaker 1: That's my main question.
- 24:27Speaker 2: Do you really want someone that got cut by the
- 24:29Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns? Can that player help you get to where
- 24:37Speaker 2: you want to go? Lane Kiffin thinks so. So we've
- 24:45Speaker 2: seen this end of college football stuff before. We saw
- 24:48Speaker 2: this in basketball, right when Auburn signed the guy from
- 24:55Speaker 2: the NBA and the that wasn't allowed, that was stopped.
- 25:04Speaker 2: I don't know what the courts are going to say
- 25:07Speaker 2: about this. The the SEC could put a stop to it.
- 25:12Speaker 2: They could say, you know, it's against our by laws
- 25:15Speaker 2: and we're willing to go to court to defend that.
- 25:21Speaker 2: But so far they've been silent. Greg Sankie's been silent.
- 25:25Speaker 2: Ryan Day has not been silent at Ohio. Stay, he's going, Hey,
- 25:30Speaker 2: if that's the rule, we're gonna use it. That's what
- 25:34Speaker 2: every coach says in basketball, baseball, football, Hey.
- 25:39Speaker 1: If it's legal, we're going to do it.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Not look okay, they can do that, but our program's
- 25:48Speaker 2: not doing that. How many times have I said the
- 25:53Speaker 2: presidents of all of these universities are silent with all
- 25:57Speaker 2: of this stuff.
- 25:59Speaker 1: They are not in.
- 26:03Speaker 2: I'd love to hear from one going, Hey, that might
- 26:06Speaker 2: be legal, but that's not what we're about. We're not
- 26:09Speaker 2: doing that. We're not adding an NFL player to our
- 26:13Speaker 2: roster this year, but they're not doing that.
- 26:18Speaker 1: There.
- 26:20Speaker 2: Apparently football's above their pay grade. Now we're not doing that.
- 26:26Speaker 1: That would be easy enough.
- 26:27Speaker 2: The commissioner could say something, the president of the university
- 26:30Speaker 2: can say something, But Nah, all we get is coaching
- 26:35Speaker 2: the number one team going Hey, if if they're gonna
- 26:37Speaker 2: do it, we're gonna do it. You know, if if
- 26:40Speaker 2: it's legal and it can and it can make us better,
- 26:44Speaker 2: we're going to do it. I would argue that even
- 26:47Speaker 2: in Ohio, where the Cleveland Browns play, Ryan Days like, nah,
- 26:52Speaker 2: we don't want any rejects from Cleveland. We've got a
- 26:55Speaker 2: lot more talent than that. Our roster is more talented
- 26:58Speaker 2: than the Cleveland Brown So if he ain't good enough
- 27:01Speaker 2: to be in Cleveland, he's not good enough to.
- 27:03Speaker 1: Play for us.
- 27:06Speaker 2: That I mean, Am I wrong? It's like, yeah, we
- 27:10Speaker 2: don't want Brown's rejects. Now, if you give us a
- 27:17Speaker 2: reject from Seattle, are they defending champs Seattle? If you
- 27:21Speaker 2: and who they played in the Super Bowl?
- 27:25Speaker 1: They played the Patriots.
- 27:26Speaker 2: Patriots, Oh, that's right, if they were, if they were
- 27:30Speaker 2: Super Bowl rejects, it's like, yeah, maybe we'll take a
- 27:33Speaker 2: look at him.
- 27:33Speaker 1: But Cleveland, now.
- 27:36Speaker 2: They're not good enough. Look, this is just logical natural.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You're going to see players signed rejects from the NFL now,
- 27:50Speaker 2: right and left, and unless a judge puts a stop
- 27:53Speaker 2: to it, which is where we are in at colleges,
- 27:56Speaker 2: because the coaches aren't they're they're not going to put
- 28:00Speaker 2: a stop to it. That they're not going to say, yeah,
- 28:05Speaker 2: this guy can help us, but he was in the NFL.
- 28:10Speaker 2: He was just on an NFL squad.
- 28:11Speaker 1: We can't do that.
- 28:14Speaker 2: And again, apparently we're not going to hear from any
- 28:18Speaker 2: presidents saying that either because they've just like.
- 28:23Speaker 1: They're like have their hands over their ears, going no, no, no, no,
- 28:27Speaker 1: no no no no, no, no no no.
- 28:29Speaker 2: I can't hear you. I can't hear you. I don't
- 28:31Speaker 2: I don't know what's going on. I don't understand. Uh,
- 28:37Speaker 2: student athletes, we're we're about we're about students here, we're educating.
- 28:41Speaker 2: No no, no, no, no no no, that's where the presidents are.
- 28:46Speaker 2: So there you go, until and unless these people want
- 28:53Speaker 2: to make me the commissioner of college football.
- 28:59Speaker 1: These are the issues we're gonna be dealing with.
- 29:02Speaker 2: Okay, we're gonna take a break, We're gonna come back.
- 29:06Speaker 2: We've got our last SEC team to preview today before
- 29:11Speaker 2: tomorrow's big Prediction Show, the most listened to radio program
- 29:16Speaker 2: in the world we have found out through proper channels,
- 29:20Speaker 2: and so phone the neighbors and wake the kids and
- 29:25Speaker 2: tell them the Prediction Show is twenty four hours from now.
- 29:29Speaker 2: Sefchek Service Center is open until six o'clock this evening.

- 29:52Speaker 2: the next three months. So you better make sure your car,
- 29:56Speaker 2: your truck, your suv is running the way it's supposed
- 29:59Speaker 2: to run. Go buy step checks, get a road safety check, belts, hoses,
- 30:04Speaker 2: fluid levels, tires. Just make sure you're ready to go. Okay,
- 30:08Speaker 2: That's that's all I'm saying. If you have some more
- 30:11Speaker 2: complicated issues, Pat and his staff are going to take

- 31:06Speaker 5: When Animals and Animals Attack each Thursday afternoon at five
- 31:10Speaker 5: on the Clark Eisenhower Outdoor edition on the Zone.
- 31:25Speaker 16: The first thing I remember knowing was a lonesome whistle
- 31:30Speaker 16: blowing and the young scream of growing up to ride.
- 31:36Speaker 6: Area.
- 31:36Speaker 2: That's mighty merle with knowing where a auto biographal auto
- 31:44Speaker 2: biographical song.
- 31:46Speaker 1: That's easy for me to say, don't try that. I'm
- 31:49Speaker 1: a professional.
- 31:51Speaker 2: The Longhorns went into last season with the number one
- 31:54Speaker 2: ranking that lasted right until the end of the first
- 31:57Speaker 2: week at Ohio State. This year, the Buck come to
- 32:00Speaker 2: Austin as number one in week two of the season.
- 32:04Speaker 1: Arch Manning did not live.
- 32:05Speaker 2: Up to the preseason expectations, but he had a bad
- 32:08Speaker 2: offensive line and a poor running game. All American tackle
- 32:12Speaker 2: trefor Goosby is already out, but maybe back in time
- 32:16Speaker 2: for Ohio State, and Manning steadily improved as the season progressed.
- 32:22Speaker 14: Yeah, my goal of this offseason was just to stay present,
- 32:24Speaker 14: take it one day at a time. I'm not really
- 32:27Speaker 14: worried about the outside world, and that's what I'm going
- 32:29Speaker 14: to continue to try to do. Yeah, I think going
- 32:31Speaker 14: through your reads and getting the ball to the right people,
- 32:34Speaker 14: and I think I didn't do that sometimes last year,
- 32:37Speaker 14: but trying to get better at that this year.
- 32:39Speaker 2: The biggest offseason surprise was the firing of defensive coordinator
- 32:44Speaker 2: Pete Kwitkowski in favor of Will must Champ. The Longhorns
- 32:48Speaker 2: have already lost a linebacker in ty Anthony Smith, dismissed
- 32:52Speaker 2: from the team over the weekend All American Rush in
- 32:56Speaker 2: Colin Simmons says he likes must Chance philosophy.
- 33:00Speaker 17: Muchdown definitely broaden all of ours mindset, you know, when
- 33:05Speaker 17: it comes to defense, when it comes to the playstyle
- 33:08Speaker 17: that we play, the aggressiveness, how he carry hisself, how
- 33:11Speaker 17: he come about the game of football.
- 33:14Speaker 1: Man, I ain't gonna lie.
- 33:16Speaker 17: I'm happy to be a part of this defense, and
- 33:17Speaker 17: I'm happy to be coached under him.
- 33:20Speaker 2: Steve Sarkisian has been the two playoffs and played for
- 33:23Speaker 2: an SEC title, but has struggled against two teams in particular,
- 33:28Speaker 2: Georgia and Ohio State. He says the emphasis has been
- 33:32Speaker 2: getting over that hump.
- 33:34Speaker 12: That are gonna get us through the tough fourth quarters.
- 33:36Speaker 12: Those are the moments that are gonna get us through
- 33:39Speaker 12: some tough road games of where we're headed this fall,
- 33:42Speaker 12: So proud of those guys for buying into what was
- 33:45Speaker 12: going to be so important to this team.
- 33:47Speaker 2: With one of the hardest schedules in the country, Sark

- 36:19Speaker 2: tomorrow afternoon and Wednesday Scott cland Dinham. Thursday, we'll have
- 36:26Speaker 2: our Clark Eisenhower outdoor show as well. And Kirk Bowles
- 36:31Speaker 2: and Tony Catalina joined me on Friday because you know what,
- 36:37Speaker 2: this last weekend was our last weekend for months without
- 36:45Speaker 2: college football. At eleven a m Saturday morning from Dublin, Ireland,
- 36:51Speaker 2: where else would you be? Well has an ugly game
- 36:54Speaker 2: last year that was Iowa State Kansas State. Oh good gosh,
- 36:57Speaker 2: played in the rain.
- 36:59Speaker 1: It was horrible. And TCU just pounded North Carolina.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Last year if you'll remember that right, Well, they have
- 37:07Speaker 2: a rematch in Ireland. We're going to see if Bill
- 37:10Speaker 2: Belichick's team is any better. We're going to see if
- 37:13Speaker 2: TCU is better San Jose State, USC North Carolina State, Virginia,
- 37:23Speaker 2: Hawaii and Stanford New Mexico State, Florida State, Memphis UNLV. Yeah,
- 37:32Speaker 2: it's not a great first week, but it's week zero
- 37:35Speaker 2: and it is college football, so I'll be watching quite
- 37:40Speaker 2: a bit. I'll just tell you that right now, and
- 37:45Speaker 2: then we'll get to Thursday of next week, and then
- 37:51Speaker 2: we'll get to Saturday come next week. And I haven't
- 37:57Speaker 2: gone over all of the game yet.
- 38:01Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 38:03Speaker 2: Well, there's usually some good games because that will be
- 38:05Speaker 2: a Labor Day weekend, right, and so we'll have games Saturday,
- 38:10Speaker 2: we'll have games Sunday night, We'll have games.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Monday, Okay, Monday night. That's how that works.
- 38:16Speaker 2: So they'll be there'll be a couple of decent games,
- 38:18Speaker 2: and I know the following week it will get better
- 38:21Speaker 2: as well. All Right, the Astros, my gosh, Astro fans,
- 38:27Speaker 2: What is going on down there? I mean, if anybody
- 38:31Speaker 2: need to fire people, they're up in Arlington. But you're
- 38:35Speaker 2: you're tied for first place. I mean, I know you're
- 38:39Speaker 2: below five hundred, but you're tied.
- 38:43Speaker 1: For first place.
- 38:45Speaker 2: What are you doing dumping your general manager and your
- 38:49Speaker 2: manager with with with.
- 38:51Speaker 1: A month left in the season.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Maybe it'll be maybe they wanted to just shut like
- 38:56Speaker 2: shake things up. Maybe they wanted to say say, hey,
- 39:00Speaker 2: we're better than this. You know, I don't know if
- 39:02Speaker 2: you are. We're way deep into the season with the
- 39:05Speaker 2: month left, and you're a below five hundred. You are
- 39:10Speaker 2: what the schedule, what the record says you are, just
- 39:13Speaker 2: like the Rangers are what the schedule says they are.
- 39:17Speaker 1: They're below five hundred. The race is odd? Can the
- 39:22Speaker 1: first team to eighty one wins?
- 39:26Speaker 2: Right? I mean, let's see, I figured this out last night.
- 39:31Speaker 2: Let me do my Richardson high math real quickly. Eleven
- 39:35Speaker 2: ought plus ought is ought. There's thirty one games left
- 39:41Speaker 2: in the season. Okay, thirty one games left. The team
- 39:47Speaker 2: that goes sixteen and fifteen is going to win the West. Okay,
- 39:53Speaker 2: that's it. Sixteen out of thirty one. That's asking a lot,
- 39:59Speaker 2: I get it. But if you can go sixteen and
- 40:02Speaker 2: fifteen and get to five hundred for the year, eighty
- 40:07Speaker 2: one up and eighty one down, you're going.
- 40:09Speaker 1: To win the West. The Astros Report is brought to

- 41:27Speaker 22: The Houston Astros got off to a great starting yesterday's
- 41:30Speaker 22: rubber match against the Athletics, but then the A's used
- 41:32Speaker 22: seven unanswered runs to hand the Astros a loss, the
- 41:35Speaker 22: final score seven to six. Houston wasted no time getting
- 41:38Speaker 22: on the board with a sackfly and two run homer
- 41:40Speaker 22: from Hosey L two V for a three run lead
- 41:42Speaker 22: in the first inning. Then after a basis loaded walk
- 41:44Speaker 22: in the second, Ezoch Paradis extended the lead to six
- 41:46Speaker 22: and the fourth.
- 41:47Speaker 19: Get high in there deep to left field, got a
- 41:50Speaker 19: chance Ethoch Paridis to run home broad Hold and.
- 41:55Speaker 3: O two pitch and the Astros LTD fix nothing.
- 41:58Speaker 22: The Athletics took over from there with a three run
- 42:00Speaker 22: homer in the fifth to cut the lead in half,
- 42:02Speaker 22: and then three more runs off RBI swings later in
- 42:05Speaker 22: the inning, Max Monsei solo homer gave the A's the
- 42:07Speaker 22: lead they needed for the win. Now the race in
- 42:09Speaker 22: the Al West is tighter than ever, as Texas now
- 42:11Speaker 22: ties the Astros for the lead. Seattle is only three
- 42:14Speaker 22: games back. With your Houston Astros report, I'm Jen Nelson.

- 42:53Speaker 10: On a warm summer's eve.
- 42:55Speaker 2: I mean it could be argue that Kenny Rodgers made
- 42:59Speaker 2: up with the game, made half of a career off
- 43:01Speaker 2: this one song.
- 43:03Speaker 1: Remember, I mean he had movies he.
- 43:08Speaker 2: Embraced the like the nickname the Gambler he was always
- 43:12Speaker 2: called after that this song came out, he was the Gambler.
- 43:17Speaker 2: I don't know how many movies he made with the
- 43:19Speaker 2: Gambler theme. But don't get me wrong, he had other
- 43:24Speaker 2: great songs, but this one went to a whole another level.
- 43:30Speaker 1: All right, welcome back, Thanks for big with us.
- 43:33Speaker 2: As we mentioned somehow, the Rangers won a series over
- 43:38Speaker 2: the Angels.
- 43:40Speaker 1: In Arlington over the weekend.
- 43:42Speaker 2: It wasn't easy because it was horrible Saturday night horrible, and.
- 43:47Speaker 1: In fact they had a stretch.
- 43:50Speaker 2: I want to say they scored three runs in three
- 43:52Speaker 2: games and won two of those games. They were no hit,
- 44:00Speaker 2: like six innings on Saturday at night.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I know Rusty was there.
- 44:05Speaker 2: He vowed never to go to Arlington again, at least
- 44:07Speaker 2: this season.
- 44:10Speaker 1: It was horrible.
- 44:11Speaker 2: But they exploded for five runs yesterday. And let's hear
- 44:17Speaker 2: from manager Skip Schumacher afterward.
- 44:21Speaker 24: I know, I wish I could tell you, like the
- 44:23Speaker 24: messaging was different or the work was different. I think,
- 44:27Speaker 24: you know, the guys just swung at strikes and didn't
- 44:29Speaker 24: chase a ton today. The middle of the order was
- 44:32Speaker 24: really good. Seager and Wyatt, you know, we're fantastic today.
- 44:36Speaker 24: But the bottom of the order really helped out as well.
- 44:39Speaker 24: And I think that's the main difference. We just didn't
- 44:41Speaker 24: rely on the top. Diaz had a fantastic day to day,
- 44:45Speaker 24: home run, Sackfly Freeman had a really nice day to day,
- 44:49Speaker 24: or Hopy with the big hit, you know, to keep
- 44:52Speaker 24: us going. So I think it was just up and
- 44:54Speaker 24: down the lineup, and we weren't just so reliant on
- 44:56Speaker 24: the top half, even though the top did pretty dan good. Yeah,
- 45:00Speaker 24: we needed it obviously, you know, the you know, they
- 45:04Speaker 24: came back Anaheim has you know, coming off that Houston series.
- 45:09Speaker 24: They've they've been hitting, you know, they've they've been pitching
- 45:11Speaker 24: and hitting. They've been actually playing pretty good and uh so,
- 45:14Speaker 24: you know they were gonna give us tough at bats.
- 45:16Speaker 24: They did, you know, in the seventh and eighth inning
- 45:18Speaker 24: they were you know, they came back and you know
- 45:22Speaker 24: we had to use obviously stil Seth and Lats and
- 45:26Speaker 24: because of some you know, quality of bass that they had.
- 45:28Speaker 24: So that's why you need the offense. You need the
- 45:30Speaker 24: five runs, You need to have cushions so we can
- 45:32Speaker 24: go on the attack. It's not like we walked a
- 45:34Speaker 24: bunch of people. You know, we we made them swing
- 45:38Speaker 24: the bat and they did and they and the hits
- 45:39Speaker 24: fell in for them, and but you know, luckily Lots
- 45:42Speaker 24: was in there.
- 45:43Speaker 10: To save it.
- 45:43Speaker 6: Yeah, you're right.
- 45:45Speaker 24: You know, we said how difficult this has been from
- 45:48Speaker 24: being a sent down a triple a too long man
- 45:51Speaker 24: to higher type of leverage to start, back to bullpen,
- 45:55Speaker 24: back to starting, and he keeps providing six innings of
- 45:59Speaker 24: no runs, a lot of strikes seventy percent. The reason
- 46:02Speaker 24: why he's so successful and a lot of the young
- 46:05Speaker 24: guys can learn from this is he pounds his own
- 46:07Speaker 24: it's seventy percent strikes.
- 46:09Speaker 10: He uses his splitter.
- 46:11Speaker 6: I think he had four or five.
- 46:12Speaker 24: Strikeouts on the split to right and to left. Use
- 46:15Speaker 24: the cutter when he needed it, but a lot of
- 46:17Speaker 24: balls were off the barrel. And that's that is when
- 46:20Speaker 24: Cal is really good, it's strike one and then it's,
- 46:23Speaker 24: you know, within four or five pitches, it's, you know,
- 46:25Speaker 24: either an out or hit. And that's why he's fun
- 46:28Speaker 24: to play behind, because he's on the attack. He's a
- 46:30Speaker 24: veteran pitcher that knows how to win. And he was
- 46:33Speaker 24: really good. I thought, you know, the first and third
- 46:36Speaker 24: in the second inning. For him to get out of
- 46:38Speaker 24: that jam and then us coming back and Duran hitting
- 46:41Speaker 24: the home run was a big momentum swing for us
- 46:43Speaker 24: and for Cal to get out of that inning with
- 46:46Speaker 24: no runs given up was a big moment in the game.
- 46:49Speaker 2: Cal quant Schall has been pretty good lately, believe it
- 46:52Speaker 2: or not. And again Kumar Rocker is pitching tonight. You
- 46:57Speaker 2: have no we have no clue what we're getting. He
- 47:00Speaker 2: could throw six innings of no hit baseball or be
- 47:03Speaker 2: out of the game after six batters in the first
- 47:06Speaker 2: inning and down five to nothing. I mean, it's just
- 47:10Speaker 2: been brutal, and the record tells you it's more likely
- 47:15Speaker 2: to be the latter scenario than the former one. So
- 47:22Speaker 2: I keep saying, this has to be his last start.
- 47:25Speaker 2: They can't keep running him out there. They have to
- 47:28Speaker 2: put him in the bullpen. And I know they're short
- 47:31Speaker 2: right now. I get it. I don't care.
- 47:35Speaker 1: Anyway.
- 47:36Speaker 2: Okay, let's hear. I'll tell you what. Ezekiel Duran is
- 47:42Speaker 2: the player of the year for the Rangers. I don't
- 47:43Speaker 2: think there's any doubt about that. He has played every
- 47:49Speaker 2: position I think except for pitcher and catcher.
- 47:53Speaker 1: I think this is right.
- 47:55Speaker 2: I think he's played seven positions and he just keeps.
- 48:00Speaker 2: He played center field yesterday they had I mean.
- 48:07Speaker 1: He has got no choice.
- 48:08Speaker 2: He's got guys hitting below two hundred, right, and so
- 48:13Speaker 2: they switched up the lineup, put Duran in in center field,
- 48:22Speaker 2: and he still hits.
- 48:24Speaker 1: Here is Duran afterward feel pretty good?
- 48:28Speaker 25: So he does the same, playing hard and make every play.
- 48:32Speaker 25: I mean that feels good.
- 48:34Speaker 2: You know.
- 48:35Speaker 25: I'm just trying to do my job really good and
- 48:37Speaker 25: bring hard and win game. That's pretty good. That's pretty good.
- 48:40Speaker 25: When when we score early does that's what That's what
- 48:44Speaker 25: I'm saying, win games, playing hard and do the best
- 48:48Speaker 25: job we can do.
- 48:49Speaker 1: I think this is right.
- 48:51Speaker 2: I think the Rangers are now forty seven and fifteen
- 48:57Speaker 2: when they score first, like thirty two games over five
- 49:01Speaker 2: hundred when they score the first run of the game.
- 49:07Speaker 2: They really really need to score first. The Rangers have
- 49:14Speaker 2: won seven of their eight last home series, so they
- 49:18Speaker 2: have picked that part of it up. Zeke hid his
- 49:22Speaker 2: fourteenth home run of the year yesterday.
- 49:26Speaker 1: And how about Diaz. Diaz has been a fine for
- 49:34Speaker 1: this team.
- 49:40Speaker 10: I mean.
- 49:42Speaker 2: Had a home run plus I think another run bat
- 49:46Speaker 2: it in Seeger has multiple hits in six of his
- 49:51Speaker 2: last seven games. He's still not hitting, frankly with the
- 49:58Speaker 2: pop that you would like, but at least he's hitting.
- 50:03Speaker 2: He's crawled his way over the Mendoza line. They they
- 50:10Speaker 2: need him for astro fans. They need him to be
- 50:16Speaker 2: your done basically, and in twenty three when they won,
- 50:20Speaker 2: he was right. I saw your Don was walked three
- 50:23Speaker 2: times yesterday, So at least Oakland is smart enough to
- 50:32Speaker 2: know to walk you don. Alvarez Schumacher is apparently hasn't
- 50:36Speaker 2: made that thought yet and won't have a chance to
- 50:40Speaker 2: unless these two teams meet in the playoffs, which I
- 50:45Speaker 2: think is remote.
- 50:48Speaker 1: But it is just it's crazy. It is just crazy that.
- 50:57Speaker 2: Either of these teams, one of these teams I think
- 51:01Speaker 2: is going to win the West. And I say I
- 51:03Speaker 2: think because Seattle seven games under five hundred but only
- 51:07Speaker 2: three games out.
- 51:09Speaker 1: I mean, that's just crazy.
- 51:10Speaker 2: And they've they've gotten beat like nineteen to nothing and
- 51:13Speaker 2: twenty two to one or something like that lately, and
- 51:18Speaker 2: they're still three games out of a playoff spot and
- 51:23Speaker 2: they haven't fired their manager or general manager yet. And
- 51:29Speaker 2: in case you missed it, the Astros did that today.
- 51:32Speaker 2: First they fired the GM. Then word came down that
- 51:38Speaker 2: they fired a Spota but gave him the choice of
- 51:46Speaker 2: finishing out the year, which he accepted. Normally, you would say, well,
- 51:53Speaker 2: I don't know how the team's going to go from there.
- 51:55Speaker 2: Are they gonna Does this get their attention? Do they,
- 52:00Speaker 2: you know, go on a little run. And I'm thinking normally,
- 52:04Speaker 2: you'd say, well, I don't know, they're gonna go one
- 52:06Speaker 2: way or the other. Right, they're just gonna crash or
- 52:08Speaker 2: they're gonna go on a run. The general manager doesn't matter.
- 52:14Speaker 2: But most of the time the manager does. Look what
- 52:16Speaker 2: the Phillies have done.
- 52:17Speaker 1: But still.
- 52:19Speaker 2: With that team, I'm going, yeah, I don't think it's
- 52:22Speaker 2: gonna affect them. I think they're still gonna be five hundred.
- 52:26Speaker 2: Could you imagine right now, as we get toward the
- 52:29Speaker 2: end of the month, if one of these teams has
- 52:32Speaker 2: like a four or five game winning streak, that might
- 52:36Speaker 2: be enough.
- 52:37Speaker 1: But I would.
- 52:41Speaker 2: Say that if one of these teams has a four
- 52:44Speaker 2: or five game winning streak like we've seen all year,
- 52:46Speaker 2: the odds are they will follow that with a four
- 52:49Speaker 2: or five game losing streak. That's what it means to
- 52:53Speaker 2: be five hundred. The great Bill Parcells said it. You
- 52:59Speaker 2: are what your record says you are. You can excuse
- 53:03Speaker 2: all day at all night. You can come up with
- 53:06Speaker 2: everything you want. Yeah, the Rangers have bad injuries, the
- 53:10Speaker 2: Astros had injuries.
- 53:12Speaker 1: You can use every excuse you want to use. But
- 53:16Speaker 1: the bottom line is.
- 53:19Speaker 2: Your record is what it says you are, and these
- 53:24Speaker 2: teams are five hundred teams. Actually, they're not even five
- 53:28Speaker 2: hundred teams right now. They're below a game of five hundred.
- 53:32Speaker 2: We don't have the Astros off tonight. Yeah, they start tomorrow,
- 53:38Speaker 2: and in fact they start in New York I believe
- 53:41Speaker 2: against the Yankees tomorrow. So that's not good for the Astros.
- 53:50Speaker 2: But the Rangers are in Chicago. It gets a White
- 53:52Speaker 2: Sox team that's turned everything around this year, maybe the
- 53:57Speaker 2: most impressive right of the turnarounds. I'm not sure anybody
- 54:01Speaker 2: saw that coming. And again they haven't been very good
- 54:06Speaker 2: on the road. My thought is both these teams lose
- 54:11Speaker 2: two out of three, and they come out of these
- 54:16Speaker 2: series in New York and Chicago still tied and two
- 54:23Speaker 2: games below five hundred. I'm just telling you first one
- 54:28Speaker 2: to eighty one, they're going to win it. Oliver Brothers
