- 0:02Speaker 1: Welcome back, everybody. The sixty days ceasefire agreement between the
- 0:06Speaker 1: US and Iran set to expire tomorrow, as tensions remain
- 0:09Speaker 1: high over the Straight of Horn Moves and the talks
- 0:12Speaker 1: between Washington and Tehran remain uncertain at best. President Trump
- 0:16Speaker 1: also warning Iran, saying he would hit back if attacked.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Capable of really destroying the whole place. We don't want
- 0:24Speaker 2: to do that. We have got economic sanctions against them
- 0:28Speaker 2: like nobody's ever had before. We own, in the true sense,
- 0:31Speaker 2: we own the Hormostrait. If they hit, we would hit
- 0:34Speaker 2: back one hundred times harder.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Chief foreign correspondent Tree Yanks live in Tel Aviv with
- 0:41Speaker 1: the very latest. Hey Trey.
- 0:44Speaker 3: Yea, Hey Kevin. Good afternoon. Monday will mark sixty days
- 0:47Speaker 3: since the Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the United
- 0:50Speaker 3: States and Iran, and technically it is set to expire.
- 0:54Speaker 3: There are no reports of serious diplomatic progress to reopen
- 0:58Speaker 3: the Straight of hor Moves and address to nuclear ambitions,
- 1:01Speaker 3: and this weekend Iran continued attacks in the Strait. On Saturday,
- 1:05Speaker 3: a bulk carrier reported being hit by an unknown projectile
- 1:08Speaker 3: a day prior, and Emoradi oil vessel was also targeted.
- 1:11Speaker 3: President Trump spoke on Friday about the conflict with Iran
- 1:14Speaker 3: and the Strait of Hormuz.
- 1:17Speaker 4: After we finish defeating Iran, which is being very badly defeated,
- 1:25Speaker 4: pretty soon, I'll be declaring the hormones straight a territory
- 1:30Speaker 4: of the United States, shake saying that letter, we have
- 1:34Speaker 4: the blockade, no ships get through unless.
- 1:38Speaker 2: We want them to.
- 1:40Speaker 3: With a focus on Iran, we're also tracking the latest
- 1:43Speaker 3: developments between Israel and Iran backed Hezbola in southern Lebanon.
- 1:47Speaker 3: Has Bela violated the ceasefire over the weekend, wounding three
- 1:49Speaker 3: Israeli soldiers. This prompted Israel to launch a new round
- 1:53Speaker 3: of strikes against targets in southern Lebanon.
- 1:56Speaker 5: Hesbula committed two major violations today Israeli troops who are
- 2:01Speaker 5: operating the security zone in contravention of the ceasefire agreement.
- 2:05Speaker 5: And then when Israel responded, they moved civilians inside their
- 2:11Speaker 5: terrorists headquarters. They use their own civilians as human shields
- 2:15Speaker 5: so that later on they could point at Israel and
- 2:17Speaker 5: say the Israel's targeting civilians, which we are not doing.
- 2:23Speaker 3: Overnight, the IDF warned residents of northern Israel to be
- 2:26Speaker 3: prepared for loud explosions throughout the night as operations against
- 2:30Speaker 3: Hezbolah continued.
- 2:32Speaker 1: Kevin, great tray Yanks for US trey be safe. Thank
- 2:34Speaker 1: you as always appreciate your time today for more on
- 2:37Speaker 1: the US Iran ceasefire deadline. We want to welcome Kyraen
- 2:40Speaker 1: Skinn our Functions contributor to the program today. Kyen, it's
- 2:43Speaker 1: always a pleasure to have your wisdom on this particular topic.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And I think it goes without saying that most people
- 2:49Speaker 1: feel like this really wasn't much of a ceasefire when
- 2:52Speaker 1: you frankly consider the US hit them, they hit some ships.
- 2:58Speaker 1: Does it really mean anything to you that the seasfire
- 3:01Speaker 1: deadline is effectively over tomorrow?
- 3:04Speaker 6: It does mean something. The ceasefire broke down in the
- 3:08Speaker 6: first instance because the Tehran government violated it with continual
- 3:15Speaker 6: menacing of ships and any activity through the Strait of Hormos.
- 3:22Speaker 6: So it starts with them, and when President Trump caught
- 3:26Speaker 6: up to what they were doing, he reimposed sanctions and
- 3:30Speaker 6: economic sanctions, and he has declared he will even double
- 3:34Speaker 6: down on those sanctions, making them much more restrictive than
- 3:38Speaker 6: the IRGC and the government have ever seen. So it
- 3:43Speaker 6: starts with a rogue regime that refuses to understand and
- 3:49Speaker 6: support international conventions. What's at stake right now when you
- 3:54Speaker 6: think about it in this war, Kevin, is the fact
- 3:56Speaker 6: that we have one nation that is violating a fundamental
- 4:01Speaker 6: norm of the international system, and that is free, open,
- 4:05Speaker 6: and safe navigation of the seas right as it does
- 4:09Speaker 6: not want that, yes, and it does not want that
- 4:12Speaker 6: to happen, and as a result, it is holding the
- 4:16Speaker 6: world hostage. We're in a global hostage crisis, That's the
- 4:20Speaker 6: way I've been putting it lately, due to one nation.
- 4:24Speaker 6: It's impossible to negotiate with them until they understand the
- 4:30Speaker 6: level of pain that can be inflicted on them. And
- 4:33Speaker 6: that's what President Trump is prepared to do on the
- 4:37Speaker 6: non connect kinetic side, with the new round of sanctions
- 4:41Speaker 6: and really the new round of organizing of nations of
- 4:45Speaker 6: goodwill against this government.
- 4:48Speaker 1: We've got about forty five seconds, but I did want
- 4:51Speaker 1: to get you to weigh in on this. I liked
- 4:52Speaker 1: how you put it a global hostage crisis, and yet
- 4:56Speaker 1: we would need global cooperation to really make a big difference,
- 5:01Speaker 1: especially as the President continues to affect more economic pressure.
- 5:05Speaker 1: But frankly, I think it goes without saying. It's not
- 5:07Speaker 1: just China, it's not just Russia. It's some of the
- 5:10Speaker 1: actors in Europe who say one thing out of one
- 5:13Speaker 1: side of their mouth and then do something else to
- 5:15Speaker 1: try to prop up the regime as well. What can
- 5:18Speaker 1: we do to get a global frankly, global cooperation in
- 5:24Speaker 1: making sure that this thing ends sooner than later by
- 5:26Speaker 1: applying all the economic pressure as well.
- 5:29Speaker 6: You're spot on with that question, and in fact it's
- 5:32Speaker 6: happening organically. Even if the Europeans, the Russians, and the
- 5:36Speaker 6: Chinese aren't where they need to be on the column
- 5:39Speaker 6: of freedom, the rest of the world is actually moving
- 5:42Speaker 6: in that direction. Look at what the Mecca Accord has
- 5:47Speaker 6: done with the Saudis, the Turks, the pakistanis coming together
- 5:52Speaker 6: in a mutual defense pack Rock and Jordan trying to
- 5:55Speaker 6: open a pipeline. The Saudis beefing up at an unusual rate,
- 6:02Speaker 6: the East West Pipeline. Iran is being encircled by new
- 6:08Speaker 6: actors that are coming together in unprecedented ways to say
- 6:13Speaker 6: we want freedom. And then the non OPEC countries that
- 6:18Speaker 6: are doing unexpected increases in their oil expiration, Brazil, for example,
- 6:24Speaker 6: Guyana the big surprise of the last ten years. They're
- 6:28Speaker 6: just new zones of freedom that are emerging, and that
- 6:32Speaker 6: supports the United States and Israel, and it's not being
- 6:35Speaker 6: directed by the US or Israel. As I just said,
- 6:39Speaker 6: this is an organic response to the isolation that Iran
- 6:45Speaker 6: finds itself.
- 6:46Speaker 2: Fit.
- 6:47Speaker 1: I love that because I think ultimately the international community
- 6:50Speaker 1: really wants peace in the region, and if it can't
- 6:53Speaker 1: rely on the Iranians to step back and respect international waters, collectively,
- 6:59Speaker 1: we're going to all have to figure out a way
- 7:00Speaker 1: to get around it. And that seems to be happening
- 7:03Speaker 1: both organically and through some strategic planning between the US
- 7:06Speaker 1: and our partners in the region. Kirene Skinner, a great pleasure,
- 7:09Speaker 1: my friend. Thank you as always for your time on
- 7:11Speaker 1: a weekend. Have a good one.
