- 0:02Speaker 1: This is a bramble Jam podcast.
- 0:22Speaker 2: Welcome to Girls Gone Hallmark Hallmark review podcast. I'm Megan
- 0:26Speaker 2: and I'm a longtime Hallmark fan.
- 0:28Speaker 1: I'm Wendy. I'm a former Hallmark hater.
- 0:30Speaker 2: On today's episode, we're back with our Listener Mailback episode
- 0:34Speaker 2: for February. Thanks to everyone who's sent in your listener
- 0:40Speaker 2: emails and voicemails. The best way to reach us is
- 0:44Speaker 2: via email at Hello at Girls Gonehollmark dot com, but
- 0:50Speaker 2: you can also use our voicemail number, which is nine
- 0:53Speaker 2: four nine three two nine eight zero nine zero. If
- 0:57Speaker 2: you want to be featured on a future Listener Mailbag episode,
- 1:00Speaker 2: We'd love to hear from you. And we say it
- 1:02Speaker 2: every single time. No one answers that phone straight to voicemail.
- 1:05Speaker 1: Straight to voicemail, and if if, if you record it
- 1:09Speaker 1: and you're like, oh my god, I hated everything. I
- 1:11Speaker 1: record call back and say hey, guys, don't play that
- 1:13Speaker 1: or here's my thought again or whatever, it's it's totally fine.
- 1:18Speaker 1: It's between you and I. Two. Hey, you like us,
- 1:20Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy, we would love for you to come
- 1:22Speaker 1: join us on Patreon. Patreon is a paid platform that
- 1:28Speaker 1: keeps the lights on over here. We use that subscription
- 1:31Speaker 1: money to pay for other things to make this project go.
- 1:35Speaker 1: We would love to have you. Patreon dot com, slash
- 1:37Speaker 1: Megan and Wendy. We do four new episodes a month
- 1:41Speaker 1: there for five dollars. This month was a real doozy,
- 1:46Speaker 1: Like we've recorded half of them already.
- 1:50Speaker 2: Yeah, and we are earning every bit of that money
- 1:54Speaker 2: over there with the content we're dropping.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Let me tell, how long was that episode that you
- 1:58Speaker 1: dropped today? It was.
- 2:00Speaker 2: I edited it a little bit, so it was forty
- 2:02Speaker 2: one minutes. Wow, it was fifty to start.
- 2:05Speaker 1: That's crazy, A little snippin' that's all my stuff. I
- 2:10Speaker 1: get wordy, you do, yes, you know what is so
- 2:14Speaker 1: funny too? Like I'm curious from the listeners if they
- 2:17Speaker 1: can tell when we record together versus remotely. Ooh, you
- 2:23Speaker 1: and I believe there's a different dynamic when we are
- 2:25Speaker 1: sitting across the kitchen table from each other. I agree.
- 2:28Speaker 1: I agree with that. I think we make better episodes
- 2:32Speaker 1: when we do that. Sometimes stuff happens and we have
- 2:35Speaker 1: to record remotely. But my whole point was that Patreon
- 2:39Speaker 1: episode that we dropped today. We are in person together,
- 2:44Speaker 1: and I just felt like you and I just were like,
- 2:46Speaker 1: we had all this pinned to up stuff and we
- 2:49Speaker 1: just let it fly.
- 2:50Speaker 2: It's a release, man, it is a release. So you
- 2:53Speaker 2: can give that a Listen Patreon dot com slash Megan
- 2:55Speaker 2: and Wendy and.
- 2:56Speaker 1: Your first week over there is free.
- 2:58Speaker 2: You get a seven day free trial so you can
- 3:00Speaker 2: into all the back content over there and see if
- 3:03Speaker 2: that's something you want to stick around for for future months.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Are you ready to talk? Listen to mail back?
- 3:07Speaker 2: I am up top. We have an email from Allison
- 3:10Speaker 2: in regards to Ripple and our coverage. She says, was
- 3:14Speaker 2: there a rating on Ripple? I assume it was a five?
- 3:17Speaker 2: I was hoping to hear one.
- 3:18Speaker 1: At the end. She goes on to.
- 3:19Speaker 2: Say, this one was a hard one with reviews to
- 3:22Speaker 2: listen to. I finished the series weeks ago and it
- 3:26Speaker 2: was hard to remember all the details. Maybe if it
- 3:28Speaker 2: wasn't at Christmas, two shows a week would have made sense.
- 3:31Speaker 2: So let's start by rating Ripple.
- 3:34Speaker 1: It was a five star.
- 3:35Speaker 2: Absolutely five star series for five star series.
- 3:38Speaker 1: I agree.
- 3:39Speaker 2: Now, let's talk the bts of recapping a series like this. Yeah,
- 3:43Speaker 2: go ahead, we kind of gets in the weeds, right.
- 3:46Speaker 1: This series dropped.
- 3:47Speaker 2: All at once, all eight episodes. Obviously, we're not going
- 3:51Speaker 2: to drop eight episodes of reviews in a row. It
- 3:54Speaker 2: just doesn't timewise make sense. It doesn't work that way
- 3:57Speaker 2: with our time.
- 3:58Speaker 1: It would be impossible to watch eight episodes and then
- 4:02Speaker 1: record eight episodes, like they're not enough hours in the day. No,
- 4:06Speaker 1: it would have. It wouldn't have.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It would have been especially she's correct during Christmas. I
- 4:12Speaker 2: definitely hear you about the challenge of the average viewer
- 4:16Speaker 2: did binge this, They weren't watching it weekly as we're
- 4:19Speaker 2: reviewing it weekly. We do have an email down the
- 4:21Speaker 2: line in this episode where a listener is suggesting some
- 4:24Speaker 2: shows that have come out because we have kind of
- 4:26Speaker 2: expanded some of our reviews, and that also gets into
- 4:30Speaker 2: the same situation of like those have already dropped, how
- 4:34Speaker 2: does that work in terms of reviews?
- 4:36Speaker 1: Are people really going to go back and listen?
- 4:38Speaker 2: It's that's something that we have to think about, and
- 4:41Speaker 2: when we're thinking about adding other series, I think that
- 4:47Speaker 2: we probably will lean more on series that are dropping
- 4:50Speaker 2: episodically m h than those that need to that are
- 4:53Speaker 2: dropping all at once, right for the listening experience.
- 4:57Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Because it's yeah, no, because you know,
- 5:03Speaker 1: there is a part of me that really wants to
- 5:05Speaker 1: do other things, like the way that I equit it.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Like I'm like, oh man, we should review the Pit
- 5:10Speaker 1: because it comes out episodically right week to week. Obviously
- 5:15Speaker 1: we're not gonna go back and do that now because
- 5:16Speaker 1: this is season two, and like, we're just not going
- 5:19Speaker 1: to pick that up. Megan's raising her eyebrows.
- 5:22Speaker 2: I mean, yesterday you suggested we review The West Wing,
- 5:24Speaker 2: which was one hundred and fifty six episodes.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Yes, and so then you have that right, you know.
- 5:30Speaker 1: We talked on Patreon a lot. My One of my
- 5:32Speaker 1: favorite podcasts is Nobody's Listening Right with Andy and Elizabeth
- 5:36Speaker 1: and I had listened to an episode during the holiday
- 5:40Speaker 1: time maybe and they were talking about they were joking
- 5:44Speaker 1: about reviewing shows, and Andy goes, I can't remember what
- 5:48Speaker 1: show it was, but it was a show that aired many, many,
- 5:52Speaker 1: many many years, like twenty sixteen, like ten years ago,
- 5:55Speaker 1: and he's like, oh yeah, because so many people are
- 5:58Speaker 1: looking for reviews on a show that aired ten years ago.
- 6:00Speaker 1: And I was like, well, he has a point. We
- 6:03Speaker 1: tried to do that. Last to the Party, Last to
- 6:06Speaker 1: the Party, with a reality TV show that aired the
- 6:11Speaker 1: first season many many years ago. Nobody's looking for that
- 6:14Speaker 1: content today. Yeah, So when I think about The West Wing,
- 6:20Speaker 1: I'm like, well, maybe maybe there's people looking for that
- 6:23Speaker 1: content today because that show such a has like such
- 6:27Speaker 1: a marked moment in pop culture history. Those wing nuts
- 6:31Speaker 1: are crazy. Oh they have a name. Yeah. Wow. So
- 6:35Speaker 1: it's like a project by a project basis. I feel like, and.
- 6:39Speaker 2: When I wish we were reviewing the pit, it's too late,
- 6:43Speaker 2: but I do wish we were doing it when.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Magg and I look at our calendar for like the
- 6:47Speaker 1: month ahead, when we're planning, because this isn't just like
- 6:50Speaker 1: a fly by the seat of your pants. We do
- 6:52Speaker 1: actually content plan, of course, and we'll look ahead and
- 6:57Speaker 1: we'll see what's dropping on Netflix, what can we review
- 7:00Speaker 1: over there? How does it work with our schedule and
- 7:03Speaker 1: maybe our listener's schedule, and so on and so forth.
- 7:06Speaker 1: So there's a lot of logistics going into it, indeed,
- 7:11Speaker 1: and going back, I do wish we could have maybe
- 7:16Speaker 1: maybe watched Olive Ruble and just had one review for it,
- 7:21Speaker 1: but two or to a summary of it. But then
- 7:24Speaker 1: I feel like that doesn't give it justice to the project.
- 7:27Speaker 1: You can't get deep into the episode. You can't give
- 7:30Speaker 1: like the writers or the directors or the actors like
- 7:33Speaker 1: their flowers that they deserve for like.
- 7:35Speaker 2: I know we did it that way, but I do
- 7:37Speaker 2: recognize the challenge of listening to their reviews that way
- 7:40Speaker 2: as a binging viewer.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Yeah. Our next email is from Francisco regarding the January movies.
- 7:45Speaker 1: He says, Hey, make it a windy I did enjoy
- 7:47Speaker 1: the movies this month, granted I watched two. I don't
- 7:51Speaker 1: know when this is dated. This may have come in
- 7:53Speaker 1: prior to missing the book did. I'm a big fan
- 7:56Speaker 1: of Lacy and thought Last and Paradise was really good.
- 7:59Speaker 1: I did like the prim and thought the chemistry was great.
- 8:02Speaker 1: I think her movies are good nine out of ten times,
- 8:04Speaker 1: and this was one such movie. The setting was beautiful,
- 8:08Speaker 1: and honestly, I was surprised by the pirates that were there.
- 8:12Speaker 1: I of course wasn't expecting the resort either. I have
- 8:15Speaker 1: to stay as a dog lover. When he ran away,
- 8:17Speaker 1: I kept thinking what about Johnny us too? Francisco? Also,
- 8:21Speaker 1: I agree with Wendy. Hey, I love when Lacey does
- 8:24Speaker 1: comedic work. Can I just pause there for a second,
- 8:26Speaker 1: because Francisco goes on he's gonna talk about something else
- 8:29Speaker 1: that isn't related to this movie. I want to talk
- 8:30Speaker 1: about Lacey for a second.
- 8:31Speaker 2: Huh.
- 8:32Speaker 1: Dropped our review of My Secret Valentine yesterday. Yeah, starring
- 8:37Speaker 1: Lacy Shabert and Andrew Walker. That is not a role
- 8:40Speaker 1: I like her in. I like the comedic me doo
- 8:44Speaker 1: Lacey Shabert. That's I think that's what I prefer, sure
- 8:47Speaker 1: me to haul out the Halloween. She was super funny,
- 8:50Speaker 1: and I remember watching that laughing out loud and being like,
- 8:52Speaker 1: that's the roles I want to see her in. Lost
- 8:55Speaker 1: in Paradise was in the same vein for sure. I
- 8:57Speaker 1: wish she would do more comedy. I mean, Gretchen Wieners.
- 9:01Speaker 2: I was just thinking, Gretchen Wieners is the ultimate comedic role. Yes,
- 9:05Speaker 2: girls got comedic chops. She's not always like this sweet
- 9:09Speaker 2: like Earnest or like the sullen Salinger child. Yeah, yes, exactly.
- 9:15Speaker 1: Francisco goes on to write the other one I watched
- 9:17Speaker 1: was Caught by Love. It was good. As a nineties kid.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I've been a fan of Rachel since that iconic movie.
- 9:24Speaker 1: She's all that. I think her work on Hallmark is
- 9:26Speaker 1: great and she has awesome comedic timing. This one totally
- 9:29Speaker 1: employed it as well as I've seen her in all
- 9:33Speaker 1: the Christmas movies. Here, I will say I did enjoy
- 9:36Speaker 1: the plot, but I'll say the end was well done.
- 9:38Speaker 1: In most movies you'll see one of the leads to
- 9:40Speaker 1: alter their life. Here they don't. You don't see Annie
- 9:43Speaker 1: give up her dreams of going to law school or
- 9:45Speaker 1: Jake give up his business. And an ending like that
- 9:48Speaker 1: is okay. Overall, kudos to both movies. I really liked
- 9:52Speaker 1: Caught by Love as well. Yeah, me too.
- 9:55Speaker 2: I thought it was a solid movie. When I was
- 9:57Speaker 2: thinking while listening to this, listening to you read Francisco's
- 10:01Speaker 2: email terribly.
- 10:03Speaker 1: By the way, No, not where I was going.
- 10:06Speaker 2: I was going to say, it's very interesting to me
- 10:09Speaker 2: because I think there's a big split of our listeners
- 10:12Speaker 2: who have no idea which one of us is which, Oh,
- 10:15Speaker 2: go ahead, And so when he said I agree with Wendy.
- 10:19Speaker 2: I find it interesting when some people know who's who
- 10:21Speaker 2: and I think some people absolutely do not. Oh interesting,
- 10:26Speaker 2: I could be wrong way and email us hello at
- 10:28Speaker 2: Girlcomehollmark dot com. Do you know the difference does it
- 10:32Speaker 2: matter to you, like, do you care? I think we
- 10:34Speaker 2: have similar ish voices for people who don't know, but
- 10:37Speaker 2: I also think we have different vibes.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Yeah, mag it's a nine and I'm a five. Guys,
- 10:43Speaker 1: if you know what that means. Wendy's all in on
- 10:46Speaker 1: her Enneagram number. These days.
- 10:48Speaker 2: We're gonna start an Aneagram podcast day coming soon.
- 10:53Speaker 1: If you guys only knew. Yeah, that's funny. I wonder.
- 10:57Speaker 1: I wonder if people can tell the difference between our voices.
- 11:00Speaker 1: I mean I can sure we do have feb here.
- 11:06Speaker 1: I'll tell you this.
- 11:07Speaker 2: The editing software that I use it, it transcribes our
- 11:11Speaker 2: podcast and then I you can edit like on the
- 11:13Speaker 2: waveform and on the written transcription, and it will also
- 11:16Speaker 2: identify speakers. I never do that because there's not a
- 11:18Speaker 2: reason for me to do it with the way I
- 11:20Speaker 2: use it, except on rare occasion I do do it,
- 11:23Speaker 2: and it does not always it gets it wrong. Yeah,
- 11:27Speaker 2: it'll it will it'll identify like three speakers, Oh, or
- 11:32Speaker 2: it doesn't or sometimes it doesn't always know who's who are.
- 11:34Speaker 1: It doesn't always separate They're like, this is a third
- 11:36Speaker 1: person screeching.
- 11:39Speaker 2: So when it does that, the way it does identify speakers.
- 11:42Speaker 2: It'll play a clip and so I'll be like, that's me.
- 11:44Speaker 2: So I'll type Megan, and then it'll play another clip
- 11:46Speaker 2: and I'll type Wendy. And then as I'm scrolling through,
- 11:49Speaker 2: it'll say it's Megan and it's not. I'm like, oh,
- 11:51Speaker 2: well it's not perfect, which is fine, it's it's an
- 11:54Speaker 2: AI system that's doing that. But also then it makes
- 11:57Speaker 2: me think if it sounds that similar there or it
- 12:00Speaker 2: doesn't matter. It was just a self reflective thought.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I had the other thing too. I wonder if you know,
- 12:06Speaker 1: I say some things that you wouldn't necessarily say, or
- 12:09Speaker 1: vice versa, and are you worried People are like, oh
- 12:12Speaker 1: my god, Meghan said XYZ and it was actually me No,
- 12:16Speaker 1: are you worried about that? No? No, I don't think
- 12:18Speaker 1: we say anything that's like too offensive. I got I
- 12:22Speaker 1: hope not.
- 12:23Speaker 2: Wendy's the one who likes basketball, y'all, and Meghan likes
- 12:26Speaker 2: the West Wing.
- 12:27Speaker 1: I mean, I.
- 12:29Speaker 2: I had the big annoying dog.
- 12:31Speaker 1: You're so funny, you know. I just had like a thought,
- 12:36Speaker 1: I wish we were like making vlogs and people could
- 12:39Speaker 1: see like what our day looks like when we do this, well,
- 12:43Speaker 1: let's do that. Should we do? You wanna recording? Blog?
- 12:47Speaker 1: Folks weigh in, Hello at Girls Gone Hallmark dot Com.
- 12:51Speaker 1: Is that right? Correct? Okay, Okay, we're doing it. We're
- 12:54Speaker 1: doing it next week. Someone recently just asked us if
- 12:56Speaker 1: we have a YouTube channel, which we do, and I
- 13:00Speaker 1: can't stop thinking about that. Really, Look, there's only so
- 13:06Speaker 1: many hours in the day. And Megan's like, she's melting
- 13:08Speaker 1: in her chair right now. Because Megan is tasked with
- 13:12Speaker 1: the editing. She has all the editing skills. She edits
- 13:16Speaker 1: our podcast. She has edited every video we've ever made,
- 13:19Speaker 1: every clip that goes on Instagram. Here's what I'm thinking.
- 13:22Speaker 1: And she's like, I don't want to do that.
- 13:24Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no, no, no, that's actually not true.
- 13:26Speaker 2: Sometimes these listener meal bag episodes just become like tangents.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I hope you like that, because that's what we're doing here.
- 13:32Speaker 2: Here's what I am always up for the next big idea,
- 13:35Speaker 2: always always I do not have to be talked into it.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I'm like, yes, that's gonna be the next thing.
- 13:41Speaker 2: This is why we work well together. Guys, go ahead,
- 13:43Speaker 2: Because Wendy is an ideas person. I am not an
- 13:46Speaker 2: ideas person, like if I have a task, I can execute.
- 13:49Speaker 1: Not really a big thinker, don't see. I don't think
- 13:52Speaker 1: that's a I'm not a big thinker.
- 13:55Speaker 2: No, I think I'm smart. I don't think I generally
- 13:58Speaker 2: have big ideas. I'm an executor. I think that's where
- 14:02Speaker 2: my strength is. Okay, I'm not bashing myself. Everyone has strengths. However,
- 14:07Speaker 2: I walk a line because, especially coming out of Q four,
- 14:12Speaker 2: you were like, we need a break, we need to focus,
- 14:15Speaker 2: we need a streamline, we need balance on our own.
- 14:17Speaker 1: And that's my script every year after I understand.
- 14:20Speaker 2: And I felt that way too, So I've been trying
- 14:22Speaker 2: to be like, yeah, let's keep the schedule manageable.
- 14:26Speaker 1: And then we keep being like, oh, we got this
- 14:28Speaker 1: big idea and this big idea and this big idea.
- 14:31Speaker 2: And let's make blogs, like I'd love to make vlogs.
- 14:33Speaker 2: I'd love to be doing video content. I'm recording you
- 14:36Speaker 2: next week when you walk up to my house. Excellent,
- 14:38Speaker 2: let's do it, let's do it, let's do it.
- 14:41Speaker 1: You know, I think that side of us appeals to people,
- 14:44Speaker 1: and maybe I'm wrong. We'll find out. Like I think
- 14:47Speaker 1: I kind of want to see like the behind the
- 14:50Speaker 1: scenes of Like I'm not talking about an hour long vlog.
- 14:53Speaker 2: I'm talking about like a TikTok reels style vlog.
- 14:57Speaker 1: Yeah, let's do that day in the life. Yeah, let's
- 15:00Speaker 1: do that. Let's do it because we can put those
- 15:02Speaker 1: on YouTube too. Shorts as shorts.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yep. We have an email from Paula who sent in
- 15:15Speaker 2: some ideas about some Hallmark adjacent review ideas for us
- 15:19Speaker 2: to tackle. Paula says, I was thinking of some Netflix
- 15:23Speaker 2: product you can influence.
- 15:25Speaker 1: No, we just like both cocked our head at influence.
- 15:30Speaker 2: I don't overestimate our reach here on Girls Gone Hallmark,
- 15:34Speaker 2: but i'd love to. First of Nona As it stars
- 15:37Speaker 2: Vince Vaughan, Linda Cardellini and some great older stars. Came
- 15:40Speaker 2: out last year, very hallmarky I do believe you watched
- 15:43Speaker 2: that one it yep. Yeah, I think that fits into
- 15:47Speaker 2: the vein here. Nobody wants this Kristen Bell and Adam Brody,
- 15:51Speaker 2: a sex podcaster and a rabbi date. It just writes
- 15:53Speaker 2: itself to season seen it.
- 15:57Speaker 1: I loved that series.
- 16:00Speaker 2: I think a lot of these, especially the series like this,
- 16:04Speaker 2: is going to fall into the trap of like you know,
- 16:08Speaker 2: those came out. One came out about six months ago,
- 16:10Speaker 2: this season before that, maybe a year year and a
- 16:13Speaker 2: half before that. And so who's who's watching and wanting
- 16:17Speaker 2: that content?
- 16:18Speaker 1: Mm hmm.
- 16:19Speaker 2: These are good recommendation for shows to watch those Somebody
- 16:21Speaker 2: Somewhere on HBO. I love Somebody Somewhere on HBO.
- 16:25Speaker 1: It would be really hard to talk about, Oh I
- 16:28Speaker 1: don't I think maybe I've seen like the first or
- 16:31Speaker 1: second episode.
- 16:32Speaker 2: It's about a queer community in Kansas that has an
- 16:34Speaker 2: ensemble cast, and it's like nothing you've seen. You'll smile
- 16:37Speaker 2: a lot. This could be a Hallmark movie in a
- 16:39Speaker 2: we're accepting world. I think that's that's right. It does
- 16:42Speaker 2: have a hallmark vibe. I bristle a little bit because
- 16:46Speaker 2: this is a show that sometimes when people are like
- 16:49Speaker 2: I need like a are looking for shows that are
- 16:52Speaker 2: easy to watch. And season one of the show does
- 16:55Speaker 2: deal with the not pop culture club, but anyway, it
- 16:57Speaker 2: does deal with some heavier things and for me, I
- 17:01Speaker 2: still cannot find the words. But it's not a show
- 17:04Speaker 2: that is oh lighthearted, it's not like in some ways
- 17:08Speaker 2: it is, but it also like she's dealing with like
- 17:10Speaker 2: a parent, dealing with addiction, and there's there's some things
- 17:14Speaker 2: going on and it could be triggering for some people. Anyway,
- 17:17Speaker 2: this is a lovely show. I don't know how I
- 17:19Speaker 2: would talk about it because not much happens. It's that
- 17:23Speaker 2: kind of show. Yeah, but it is a really lovely show.
- 17:28Speaker 2: She said, do you consider theatrical releases? I have an
- 17:31Speaker 2: Oldie Win a date with Tad Hamilton pure Hallmark tofer
- 17:35Speaker 2: Grace and Jennifer Goodwin should be on Hallmark. I can't
- 17:37Speaker 2: explain why I like this movie. Those are all good
- 17:40Speaker 2: shows and movies. I would consider a theatrical release. I
- 17:43Speaker 2: think in terms of getting people to listen, that would
- 17:46Speaker 2: need to be a current theatrical release. Yeah, although I
- 17:49Speaker 2: do think it's easier to get people to watch an
- 17:51Speaker 2: old movie than it is to get them to watch
- 17:53Speaker 2: an entire.
- 17:53Speaker 1: Series if there's if there's access to it.
- 17:56Speaker 2: Correct, Yeah, of course, yeah streaming.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Would you like to hear a voicemail?
- 18:01Speaker 2: Sure, we have a voicemail from Kathleen.
- 18:03Speaker 3: Hi, lady, my name is Kathleen are the I'm from
- 18:07Speaker 3: New Trichy and I want to let you know that
- 18:09Speaker 3: I love your podcast.
- 18:11Speaker 1: Found the Guys a couple of years ago.
- 18:13Speaker 3: I had been the dyke of homework a year and
- 18:17Speaker 3: hurt the guy put them and I'm glad that you're
- 18:19Speaker 3: a part of the Brambletam family. Now you, lady, give
- 18:22Speaker 3: a different take than the dicta homework guy. I love
- 18:25Speaker 3: listening to both of you then, and I love listening
- 18:27Speaker 3: to all the different takes into a great job. I say,
- 18:33Speaker 3: Loundes Repple theory and I'm a field glader covering it
- 18:35Speaker 3: because they're not, so this is wonderful. I just wanted
- 18:39Speaker 3: to draw the connection.
- 18:40Speaker 1: I watched them theory.
- 18:42Speaker 3: I wanted to draw the connection that Aria drops that
- 18:46Speaker 3: rock in the first.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Episode which hits me on the head, and.
- 18:51Speaker 3: That's what actually brings him to the hospital and how
- 18:54Speaker 3: he gets his cancer diagnosis. The Aria really it's responsible
- 18:58Speaker 3: for him finding out about the camp and also later
- 19:02Speaker 3: should need the terring and then it ends up with
- 19:06Speaker 3: hig mom and to give this to Claire act and
- 19:10Speaker 3: player fells that ring to get the money or he
- 19:12Speaker 3: kip with stement Aria and very much a part of
- 19:17Speaker 3: Nate Bright. I just wanted to draw that connection. I
- 19:20Speaker 3: think it's important. I love live thing to you. I
- 19:23Speaker 3: mean that always agreeing, but I love listening take care. Yeah.
- 19:26Speaker 2: I think that's what we love about Ripple is all
- 19:29Speaker 2: those connections that you can draw and looking back and
- 19:32Speaker 2: seeing in some ways how these stories come full circle.
- 19:36Speaker 2: And what's interesting about the Aria and Nate one is
- 19:38Speaker 2: they don't seem to be the most connected on the show, right,
- 19:43Speaker 2: Like they don't have They have affection for each other,
- 19:46Speaker 2: but they don't have a particularly close relationship the way
- 19:48Speaker 2: some like Ellis and Walter or Walter and Tara right,
- 19:52Speaker 2: Nate and Chris right. But Aria has such a key
- 19:56Speaker 2: piece of Nate's story.
- 19:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, that's a great show.
- 19:59Speaker 2: I mean, you don't need to listen to all eight
- 20:00Speaker 2: of our recaps, but I would recommend giving that show
- 20:03Speaker 2: a watch.
- 20:03Speaker 1: I really hope they get a season two. We had
- 20:06Speaker 1: a messaged one of the EPs on it via Instagram,
- 20:10Speaker 1: like any word, and she just was like, not yet,
- 20:13Speaker 1: fingers crosses. So I hope. I hope me too. Our
- 20:16Speaker 1: next email is from Ginny and it's regarding the recent
- 20:19Speaker 1: movie Missing the Boat. She starts out by saying, thank
- 20:22Speaker 1: you so much for your shout out to Minnesota. I
- 20:24Speaker 1: got to tell Mark plus you kind of brighten the
- 20:26Speaker 1: very difficult time we are living in and not only
- 20:29Speaker 1: did I find your podcast, but found your support. You
- 20:32Speaker 1: have no idea how much that means. Can we stop
- 20:35Speaker 1: there for a second?
- 20:36Speaker 3: Sure?
- 20:36Speaker 1: Should we address some things here?
- 20:38Speaker 2: Sure we have made no secret of who we are,
- 20:41Speaker 2: how we think, the kind of content we want to consume,
- 20:44Speaker 2: the kind of people we want to be. We understand
- 20:46Speaker 2: that the podcast, both the content that we talk about
- 20:49Speaker 2: and the podcast itself, is very escapist, and we're happy
- 20:53Speaker 2: to be that, and every once in a while it's
- 20:55Speaker 2: kind of important for us to just remind people who
- 20:58Speaker 2: we are. I also think that there are plenty of
- 21:00Speaker 2: places for you to consume content. There are some people
- 21:04Speaker 2: who would prefer that the creators that they follow not
- 21:07Speaker 2: let pieces of themselves come through in that content, and
- 21:12Speaker 2: you can feel that way. But I also think when
- 21:15Speaker 2: we live in this world where we've so much of
- 21:17Speaker 2: the content that we consume is free via social media
- 21:22Speaker 2: or podcasts or whatever it may be, you know, you
- 21:25Speaker 2: have the choice to consume the content that you want
- 21:27Speaker 2: to consume, and those creators have the choice to make
- 21:29Speaker 2: those statements. It's important for us, I think, for our
- 21:33Speaker 2: listeners to know who the people behind this podcast are.
- 21:36Speaker 2: While ninety nine percent of the time. We want this
- 21:39Speaker 2: just to be fun and escapists and talking about Luke
- 21:43Speaker 2: MacFarland taking his shirt off. I agree one hundred yes,
- 21:47Speaker 2: that's where I stand too, Like that's I love having
- 21:49Speaker 2: a business partner that you and I are on the
- 21:50Speaker 2: same page about.
- 21:51Speaker 1: That's this kind of stuff. If we would have recorded
- 21:53Speaker 1: this yesterday, I think I would have been like, real hot.
- 21:56Speaker 1: We talked about our Facebook group all the time.
- 21:57Speaker 2: We have worked really hard to curate a group over
- 21:59Speaker 2: there that is a place where come have all.
- 22:02Speaker 1: The opinions you want about Hallmark movies.
- 22:04Speaker 2: But there are certain types of speech that we're not
- 22:06Speaker 2: going to tolerate, and we've made it very clear. And
- 22:10Speaker 2: there are plenty of groups on the Internet that will
- 22:12Speaker 2: let you speak in horrible ways about other humans, and
- 22:14Speaker 2: we're not one of them. And so we actually had
- 22:17Speaker 2: an incident yesterday as we're recording this, and I part
- 22:21Speaker 2: of me wanted to come in real hot and fire
- 22:23Speaker 2: off all the reasons why this wasn't gonna work, and
- 22:24Speaker 2: the other party was like, no, that's just not the
- 22:26Speaker 2: group we are, and so you're no longer in the
- 22:28Speaker 2: group the end, and we've made we don't need to
- 22:31Speaker 2: continue to make the statement over and over again to
- 22:33Speaker 2: people who aren't interested in hearing.
- 22:35Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly, exactly, nicely, said Megan.
- 22:38Speaker 2: I hope let's hear from Jenny Simore.
- 22:40Speaker 1: She goes on to say, I just watch Missing the
- 22:43Speaker 1: Boat some of my notes dot dot dot two age
- 22:46Speaker 1: appropriate romances, followed by three exclamation points. Love that. I
- 22:51Speaker 1: love watching Christopher Balaha. He's a very fun actor to
- 22:54Speaker 1: watch with his timing and subtle nuances and facial expressions,
- 22:58Speaker 1: the scenery. Talk about klgon take me away. I agree.
- 23:02Speaker 1: I wish we could have like a girl's gone homework
- 23:05Speaker 1: get away to southern Italy, even imagine the dream. She writes,
- 23:12Speaker 1: I've been to Italy twice, but next time I have
- 23:14Speaker 1: a new place to visit. But why, why, why didn't
- 23:19Speaker 1: they put some weights in the hem of that poor
- 23:21Speaker 1: woman's dress at the end of the movie. Is this
- 23:23Speaker 1: a digit see that I did not recognize?
- 23:26Speaker 3: It?
- 23:26Speaker 1: Was it blowing up?
- 23:28Speaker 2: It was like a balloon and I totally noticed it,
- 23:30Speaker 2: and I didn't put it in my digity that I
- 23:33Speaker 2: feel like that's romantic. It wasn't really blowing in the wind.
- 23:37Speaker 2: It was just like a big like blue gotcha look
- 23:40Speaker 2: she's adorable. It's fine, but uh it was. It was
- 23:46Speaker 2: distracting in a sweet moment. I love her comment. It's
- 23:50Speaker 2: such an easy costume fix. It's what the Royals do.
- 23:53Speaker 2: I don't get it. They put like weights in the
- 23:55Speaker 2: hem of their dresses.
- 23:56Speaker 1: So like in real life, so they don't blow up.
- 23:59Speaker 1: Oh I hate.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Dress isn't blown up around her knees.
- 24:02Speaker 1: Oh that's so interesting. I didn't know that.
- 24:06Speaker 2: She also goes out to say, I want a Cornett
- 24:08Speaker 2: and a gelato right now.
- 24:09Speaker 1: I just want to go to Italy.
- 24:11Speaker 2: Should I switch to Italian du a lingo?
- 24:13Speaker 1: Ooh? I like that idea.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Also, I've been diving into a lot of Hallmark movies.
- 24:18Speaker 2: Why does everyone have to have a dead parent? Can't
- 24:21Speaker 2: there be a substantial person and make a connection with
- 24:23Speaker 2: someone without the pity?
- 24:25Speaker 1: Just an observation, it's a good one.
- 24:27Speaker 3: Jitny.
- 24:27Speaker 1: Is Ginny a new Hallmark?
- 24:29Speaker 3: Oh?
- 24:30Speaker 1: She just got Hallmark Plus. Well, welcome to the world
- 24:33Speaker 1: of tropes over on Hallmark. Just getting started, Ginny. Yeah,
- 24:39Speaker 1: I mean the dead parent is a recurring theme.
- 24:42Speaker 2: Lucky for you, we have over five hundred reviews for
- 24:45Speaker 2: you to dive into as you watch along.
- 24:47Speaker 1: What's the matter. I don't know what a cornet is. Oh.
- 24:51Speaker 1: A cornet is a traditional starched white head dress.
- 24:54Speaker 3: No.
- 24:55Speaker 2: Cornetto is the quintessential Italian breakfast pastry and popular snack,
- 25:00Speaker 2: often described as the Italian cousin to the French croissant.
- 25:04Speaker 1: Got it okay?
- 25:06Speaker 2: Also, I said croissant with a fake French accent the
- 25:09Speaker 2: day and my daughter was like, don't do that.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Do a lingo, baby. I was like, I'm sorry, didn't
- 25:14Speaker 1: I embarrass you. It's called the croissant. She got mad,
- 25:17Speaker 1: you know, she got mad girl and teenagers they know better.
- 25:20Speaker 2: She's so much smarter than me. Of course, all that
- 25:23Speaker 2: life experience.
- 25:24Speaker 1: You go upstairs and close her door behind her teenagers
- 25:27Speaker 1: are funny. I just want to add here, if you're listening,
- 25:31Speaker 1: we have an interview with one mister Palaha coming next week,
- 25:36Speaker 1: coming up. We spent at almost two hours with him today. Man,
- 25:39Speaker 1: he gave some truths in this interview. Yeah, some things
- 25:44Speaker 1: are stuck with me. Yeah.
- 25:46Speaker 2: Our business model for twenty twenty six came out of
- 25:48Speaker 2: this interview.
- 25:49Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Crossed it to a needle, point that on
- 25:54Speaker 1: a pillow or on it, put it in a frame.
- 25:57Speaker 1: Do I need to go to Newport needle Point, and
- 25:59Speaker 1: you know all the supplies kick my supplies.
- 26:01Speaker 2: Maybe maybe will they custom paint a canvas for me?
- 26:06Speaker 1: I mean, I'm sure there's a diy out there to
- 26:08Speaker 1: how to do it yourself. I want to do it.
- 26:10Speaker 1: I'm gonna I want to needle point at myself, but
- 26:12Speaker 1: I don't want to do the canvas myself. Have the
- 26:14Speaker 1: computer do it for you. The computer guys, somebody on Etsy,
- 26:19Speaker 1: I'm sure will do it for you.
- 26:21Speaker 2: I look all TikTok serves me up needle point content
- 26:24Speaker 2: all day long. It's a as you know, because I
- 26:28Speaker 2: know you bought needle Point for a gift. It's a
- 26:30Speaker 2: very expensive hobby, super expensive.
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm like, how is this project one hundred dollars?
- 26:35Speaker 2: I know, I know, I don't like people are spending
- 26:37Speaker 2: a fortune, but I kind of want to try one.
- 26:40Speaker 1: They just need like a small one to test it
- 26:42Speaker 1: out totally. You want to go to Newport needle Point
- 26:44Speaker 1: with me? I do?
- 26:45Speaker 2: Okay, Mackie, She's part of the Megan and Wendy media
- 26:48Speaker 2: team these days, y'all. She emailed us regarding missing the boat.
- 26:53Speaker 2: She says, Hi, Megan and Wendy in line with your
- 26:55Speaker 2: recent discussion about the waterfall in your review of Missing
- 26:57Speaker 2: the Boat. Christopher mentioned this in an interview on Homer,
- 27:00Speaker 2: Mysteries and.
- 27:00Speaker 1: More that it was indeed fake.
- 27:03Speaker 2: Mackiw's the best. She sent an actual timestamp to the interview.
- 27:06Speaker 2: I went and watched it and Chris is talking to
- 27:08Speaker 2: Eric and he goes, yeah, I don't know, could you
- 27:10Speaker 2: tell it was fake? And I thought it was really
- 27:11Speaker 2: funny because you and I both called it out in
- 27:13Speaker 2: our Yeah. Eric was so nice about it.
- 27:15Speaker 1: In the interview, but yeah, we could help.
- 27:18Speaker 2: Yeah, it didn't take away from the movie for no,
- 27:21Speaker 2: not at all. Well, let's wrap it up with this
- 27:24Speaker 2: final Instagram message. This is from Instagram follower Melissa, who says,
- 27:29Speaker 2: since you guys are doing series and non Hallmark stuff,
- 27:32Speaker 2: it would be fun to hear your thoughts on Heated
- 27:34Speaker 2: Rivalry if you have HBO Max I. I have not
- 27:37Speaker 2: watched that show. I've watched like the first ten minutes,
- 27:39Speaker 2: but it say show you need to watch when you're
- 27:41Speaker 2: home alone, not when you're like teenage children are walking
- 27:43Speaker 2: through the room. In my opinion, it's real sexy, guys. Yeah,
- 27:47Speaker 2: I'm just not sure how much like bang In conversation
- 27:49Speaker 2: we can have here on Girls Cone Hallmark.
- 27:52Speaker 1: Yeah, did you hear how tongue ted I am right
- 27:54Speaker 1: now just the thought of it.
- 27:56Speaker 2: I'm interested in watching it and like I'm so about
- 28:00Speaker 2: the cult following it has developed.
- 28:02Speaker 1: Like that's very exciting. What else can we add to
- 28:05Speaker 1: the conversation about it. I don't know.
- 28:07Speaker 2: I think that's true, Like I think there are heated
- 28:09Speaker 2: driverry podcasts out there that are doing the work better
- 28:12Speaker 2: than we would.
- 28:14Speaker 1: But keep your suggestions coming.
- 28:16Speaker 2: I know, I feel like we shot down a lot
- 28:17Speaker 2: of people. It's you gotta really thread the needle with
- 28:19Speaker 2: the content we're trying to figure out here. But I yes,
- 28:22Speaker 2: thank you for your suggestions. Definitely, thank you for all
- 28:25Speaker 2: of your input on this Listener Mailbag episode. Thank you
- 28:28Speaker 2: for going along with us on this ride this week.

- 28:34Speaker 2: slate of Hallmark reviews and interviews.

- 28:51Speaker 2: All right, friends, before we go, just a quick heads up,
- 28:53Speaker 2: you're about to hear some ads. These little gems help
- 28:56Speaker 2: us keep the show running and the Hallmark love flowing.
- 28:59Speaker 2: So do with that info what you will, grab a snack,
- 29:02Speaker 2: hit the skip button, or maybe just maybe listen in
- 29:05Speaker 2: and discover your new favorite product.
- 29:08Speaker 1: Bye.
