- 1:26Speaker 1: And jumping into the Whitetail weather report, this week, September
- 1:29Speaker 1: 30th to October 7th, the main weather story this week
- 1:32Speaker 1: is a system moving through the Midwest and Great Lakes
- 1:35Speaker 1: as we head into October. Ahead of the system, winds
- 1:38Speaker 1: will turn more southerly across portions of the Midwest on Wednesday,
- 1:41Speaker 1: bringing warmer air and increasing moisture north. Rain chances begin
- 1:45Speaker 1: increasing Wednesday afternoon and evening with widespread rain expected across
- 1:49Speaker 1: portions of the Midwest today. and Great Lakes Wednesday night
- 1:53Speaker 1: into Thursday. As the front moves through, winds will shift
- 1:55Speaker 1: and cooler, drier air will begin filtering into the region.
- 1:58Speaker 1: By Friday and into the weekend, temperatures across portions of
- 2:01Speaker 1: the Midwest are forecast to fall back into the 60s
- 2:04Speaker 1: during the day, with overnight lows reaching the 40s and 50s.
- 2:07Speaker 1: Barometric pressure will generally fall as the system approaches before
- 2:10Speaker 1: beginning to rise again behind the frontal passage. Further east,
- 2:14Speaker 1: rain chances increase across the Ohio Valley late Thursday into
- 2:17Speaker 1: Friday as that same system progresses east. So a lot
- 2:21Speaker 1: of potential movements and weather fronts coming in here to
- 2:24Speaker 1: make the most out of the first week of October.
- 2:26Speaker 1: That is your Whitetail Weather Report for this week. Picking
- 2:29Speaker 1: off our guests this week, we have Josh Telker from
- 2:31Speaker 1: Before the Echo in Indiana giving us his opening day
- 2:35Speaker 1: forecast and game plan. And then we move over to
- 2:38Speaker 1: Minnesota with Alex Comstock. And lastly, with Josh Proffitt out
- 2:41Speaker 1: of Kentucky. So I hope you guys enjoy this week's
- 2:43Speaker 1: episode of Rut Fresh presented by Moultrie. Let's get into it.
- 2:52Speaker 1: All right, kicking off the show, we have Josh Telker
- 2:54Speaker 1: from Before the Echo. Picking off this week's episode in Indiana.
- 2:58Speaker 1: How are we doing, Josh? Good, man.
- 3:00Speaker 2: It's opening week, so things are looking up, man.
- 3:05Speaker 1: It's here. It's officially here. Sound the alarm, and you're
- 3:10Speaker 1: in Indiana, and we were just talking about the weather
- 3:11Speaker 1: and everything else, but how excited are you even before
- 3:15Speaker 1: we flip the calendar to October 1? What are you
- 3:18Speaker 1: feeling going into this season? Expectations, you know, is it
- 3:23Speaker 1: going to be a tough year, a bad year? Cause
- 3:24Speaker 1: I think you guys got hit by EHD last year.
- 3:26Speaker 1: Is that right?
- 3:27Speaker 2: We did.
- 3:28Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 3:28Speaker 2: Pretty bad last year. Um, talking to, uh, I talked
- 3:32Speaker 2: to game warden this summer and he was, you know,
- 3:34Speaker 2: he kind of confirmed, confirmed that this was one of
- 3:37Speaker 2: the far County in Indiana here. Uh, it's the worst
- 3:40Speaker 2: year on record for EHD that he's, he's been a
- 3:42Speaker 2: part of. So the rough year on the deer herd.
- 3:47Speaker 1: And so inversely this year, like, is there any sort
- 3:51Speaker 1: of rebound or does it, still feel like there's skeletons
- 3:55Speaker 1: in the closet.
- 3:55Speaker 2: No, yeah, it's definitely, you know, it's going to take
- 3:59Speaker 2: a couple years to get kind of back to par,
- 4:02Speaker 2: I guess, if you want to say. Definitely not as
- 4:05Speaker 2: many deer running around as there had been. I mean,
- 4:10Speaker 2: you guys know the silver lining of EHD is you
- 4:13Speaker 2: reduce the deer herd, there's more resources for the.
- 4:16Speaker 1: Deer that do make it.
- 4:17Speaker 2: So I'm kind of hopeful that there is some some
- 4:20Speaker 2: good ones running around. And if there is some good ones, then, uh,
- 4:23Speaker 2: we'll definitely be chasing after them. Uh, but yeah, we'll see.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Did you, did you recognize, like some people always say that,
- 4:30Speaker 1: you know, the year after EHC there's, you know, with
- 4:33Speaker 1: the lack of pressure, uh, on the resource, you know,
- 4:35Speaker 1: some deer just make it absolute giant jump. Have you
- 4:38Speaker 1: recognized that at all to any degree of, of a
- 4:41Speaker 1: survivor from last year that made a really impressive jump?
- 4:44Speaker 2: No, not particularly this year. I have not recognized it. Um, but,
- 4:49Speaker 2: there's people that way smarter than me that, that say that.
- 4:51Speaker 2: So I'm sure it does happen. It makes logical sense
- 4:54Speaker 2: that it, that it would. I mean, I think one
- 4:56Speaker 2: of the, as far as deer management goes, one of
- 4:59Speaker 2: the things that hurt your herd the most is overcrowding,
- 5:01Speaker 2: you know, too many does too many small bucks and
- 5:04Speaker 2: all that stuff. So, um, it can't, it can't hurt
- 5:07Speaker 2: as far as the deer that do make it. I'm
- 5:08Speaker 2: sure they're less stressed from those natural stresses that deer
- 5:13Speaker 2: deal with outside of us chasing them around and predators
- 5:16Speaker 2: and whatnot.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, so, October 1.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Yep.
- 5:21Speaker 1: It's, it's, you know, the first, the first set, is
- 5:25Speaker 1: your first set going to be October 1? Are you
- 5:26Speaker 1: going to wait to, to watch the weather? I don't know, man.
- 5:29Speaker 2: So here, this year I've been in, I've been in
- 5:33Speaker 2: the weirdest funk this summer. Like I'm usually like all
- 5:35Speaker 2: about it and I, I am for, you know, an extent,
- 5:38Speaker 2: but it has been so miserably hot down here in
- 5:40Speaker 2: Southern Indiana this summer. And so it was just really
- 5:43Speaker 2: hard to get in the mood to go out in
- 5:45Speaker 2: the woods and, you know, and mingle with the ticks
- 5:47Speaker 2: and the, Chickers and everything else this summer. Um, but
- 5:52Speaker 2: the last week we had a, a extreme cool off
- 5:56Speaker 2: and it really got me in the mood. Now, unfortunately
- 5:58Speaker 2: come Thursday, which is October 1st, um, we're back up
- 6:02Speaker 2: in the nineties here in Southern Indiana, but, um, so
- 6:06Speaker 2: what we will see, we will see TBD.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Yeah. So looking, you know, through the rest of the week,
- 6:12Speaker 1: let's say the, the first to the seventh, um, yeah.
- 6:16Speaker 1: What is jumping out at you right now, like a
- 6:19Speaker 1: must-sit evening in your neck of the woods based off
- 6:21Speaker 1: the weather conditions? Because obviously it can't be hot forever.
- 6:25Speaker 1: Usually there's a rain front that comes in. What has
- 6:28Speaker 1: you excited looking at the calendar for this first week
- 6:31Speaker 1: of Indiana archery season?
- 6:33Speaker 2: Yeah, for me, Monday looks– I mean, we're going from
- 6:38Speaker 2: 90s and then rain all weekend to Monday we got
- 6:41Speaker 2: the high– um uh you know in the in the
- 6:44Speaker 2: mid 60s in you know lows in the low 40s
- 6:47Speaker 2: which is a significant switch from 90s you know um
- 6:52Speaker 2: so that's the day i'm really looking looking forward to
- 6:56Speaker 2: something else is like we got pretty significant showers friday
- 6:59Speaker 2: saturday sunday morning and then we're quitting sunday uh morning
- 7:05Speaker 2: sometime i don't know exactly the hour but Um, man,
- 7:08Speaker 2: I could see Sunday evening being a decent time to
- 7:10Speaker 2: be in the woods too. Maybe getting over, getting over
- 7:12Speaker 2: a scrape or something that is opened up.
- 7:16Speaker 1: What's, um, as far as food sources go in your,
- 7:18Speaker 1: your neighborhood too. So like, let's say, let's say you
- 7:20Speaker 1: go hunt Sunday evening. Are you going to set up
- 7:23Speaker 1: on a scrape that you, that you have some history
- 7:25Speaker 1: on or, or are you going to scout in the
- 7:27Speaker 1: rain at all over the weekend to try to find
- 7:28Speaker 1: some sign? Like, what does that look like for, you know,
- 7:32Speaker 1: that Sunday, Monday game plan and how, how different is
- 7:35Speaker 1: Sunday evening to Monday strategy?
- 7:38Speaker 2: Yeah, so I'm probably going to get out and check some...
- 7:43Speaker 2: I got some regular SD card cameras on public land
- 7:46Speaker 2: around here. Probably going to go and kind of flip
- 7:49Speaker 2: some of those and just get some intel. And then
- 7:53Speaker 2: based on what I find there, that's probably where I'm
- 7:56Speaker 2: going to... I have a few spots in my head
- 7:58Speaker 2: right now that I've been running cameras on since this
- 8:00Speaker 2: winter that are historically pretty good early season for a
- 8:05Speaker 2: couple of reasons.
- 8:06Speaker 1: One is.
- 8:09Speaker 2: The crop rotations. For October 1 openers, I forget about
- 8:14Speaker 2: beans and I love cornfields. Provides a lot of cover
- 8:19Speaker 2: for deer. And I've had some pretty good luck setting
- 8:25Speaker 2: pretty close to some cornfield edges, whether that be stuff
- 8:29Speaker 2: that butts up on public or uh, or private. I just,
- 8:32Speaker 2: I think that's a, a.
- 8:34Speaker 4: Really good tactic.
- 8:35Speaker 2: And, you know, and right now we're, we, uh, harvest
- 8:37Speaker 2: kind of started fairly early this year. So, um, we
- 8:40Speaker 2: are getting corn out, you know, pretty heavily right now.
- 8:43Speaker 2: So it's, there's not as many, uh, available as cornfield
- 8:47Speaker 2: edges as there was two weeks ago here in Indiana,
- 8:49Speaker 2: at least. Um, so I got a couple spots in
- 8:52Speaker 2: mind there. Um, and then you're obvious, you know, I
- 8:56Speaker 2: know everybody talks about acorns this time of year, but,
- 9:01Speaker 2: it still can be good.
- 9:02Speaker 1: So if you can find a spot along a cornfield
- 9:04Speaker 1: edge with a wide oak drop in acorns, that would
- 9:06Speaker 1: be a spot that you really want to focus on.
- 9:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:09Speaker 2: Particularly like if you've got a big wide oak overhang
- 9:11Speaker 2: in a cornfield edge or something.
- 9:13Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 9:14Speaker 1: On the inside corner. Yeah. That's where you want to
- 9:16Speaker 1: try to sit. Yep. Yep. Yeah.
- 9:20Speaker 2: Deer, there's no question they'll live in that corn until
- 9:23Speaker 2: they get pushed out of there. And luckily, I mean,
- 9:26Speaker 2: this year, you know, sometimes there can be a problem Um,
- 9:29Speaker 2: in big ag areas where there's too much corn in, right.
- 9:32Speaker 2: And it's kind of hard to hunt them. Um, but
- 9:34Speaker 2: with harvest kind of starting early this year, it seems
- 9:37Speaker 2: to maybe some of those, these sanctuaries that they have
- 9:39Speaker 2: will push them off into some of the public or
- 9:42Speaker 2: wherever you're, you're hunting at, you know?
- 9:44Speaker 1: What about for someone, um, that didn't, let's say they,
- 9:47Speaker 1: they were just as busy and not as excited to
- 9:50Speaker 1: go fight with ticks all summer too, but they didn't,
- 9:52Speaker 1: they didn't lay cameras out in spring or the winter.
- 9:56Speaker 1: And they're listening to this and with this weather that
- 9:58Speaker 1: came in last week, they're like, oh my God. i'm
- 10:00Speaker 1: ready to go deer hunting i did not do the
- 10:02Speaker 1: groundwork uh life was busy what what advice do you
- 10:05Speaker 1: give those folks to to still proceed in a positive
- 10:11Speaker 1: fashion but not be scrambled or feel like they're like
- 10:15Speaker 1: i don't know anything i gotta go do this i
- 10:16Speaker 1: gotta do that like Where, what, what would you say
- 10:19Speaker 1: to them? And maybe it is like, dude, just carve
- 10:21Speaker 1: out an afternoon and go, go crazy and hang cameras.
- 10:25Speaker 2: I mean, you know, I think some of that anxiety
- 10:29Speaker 2: we have for not being prepared is probably, uh, you know, in,
- 10:32Speaker 2: in your head, like there's still something to be said about,
- 10:36Speaker 2: even if you're prepared for a spot, like you still
- 10:39Speaker 2: got to have your eyes open, uh, and, and be
- 10:41Speaker 2: looking for sign as you're walking through the woods. Even
- 10:44Speaker 2: if you got a spot in your head, you know, like,
- 10:46Speaker 2: you could walk through some great sign or the deer
- 10:50Speaker 2: have changed since last winter. And, um, if you're not
- 10:52Speaker 2: paying attention or, or you're kind of have a one
- 10:55Speaker 2: track mind, you get to your spot that you think
- 10:57Speaker 2: is good and you've walked over the good spot, you know? So, um,
- 11:01Speaker 2: I think if you, if you aren't prepared or you
- 11:03Speaker 2: didn't do any scouting this year, not the end of
- 11:05Speaker 2: the world, like get a, get a, get a good
- 11:08Speaker 2: spot on a map, or maybe you think folks won't be, or, um,
- 11:11Speaker 2: you've historically known have been good for early season and
- 11:15Speaker 2: just go in there and, and scout your way in
- 11:17Speaker 2: and throw sits at places. Um, it's kind of, that's
- 11:21Speaker 2: kind of an exciting way to hunt anyway, you know?
- 11:23Speaker 1: Yeah. And I think if we're being honest, most people
- 11:26Speaker 1: fall in that category of, I mean, I, I feel
- 11:30Speaker 1: like I laid a pretty good framework for this season,
- 11:32Speaker 1: but I still feel underprepared. I'll be honest. Like there's
- 11:34Speaker 1: stuff I wish I would've got done and, uh, different,
- 11:36Speaker 1: you know, leaves I wish I would've flipped over, but
- 11:39Speaker 1: it's also a very long season, but it's a delicate
- 11:42Speaker 1: balance of it's a long season, but also not striking
- 11:44Speaker 1: when the opportunity is here. Cause I do think, um,
- 11:46Speaker 1: there's some really good weather coming in like for this
- 11:48Speaker 1: first week.
- 11:49Speaker 2: Oh yeah, for sure. And that's what I think maybe
- 11:51Speaker 2: just not getting over, you know, overexcited this first couple
- 11:55Speaker 2: of days when it's going to be kind of nasty and,
- 11:57Speaker 2: you know, maybe it's best not to screw around in
- 12:01Speaker 2: the spots that you want to hunt until that Sunday night, Monday,
- 12:04Speaker 2: you know what I mean? Um, instead of going and
- 12:07Speaker 2: getting a bunch of scent in my best spot that
- 12:08Speaker 2: I want to hunt opening week on, on Thursday, whenever,
- 12:12Speaker 2: you know, the, not that the deer couldn't walk through there,
- 12:15Speaker 2: but they may not walk until right before, right after dark,
- 12:18Speaker 2: since it's so hot, um, might be best just to
- 12:21Speaker 2: kind of put those spots on a back burner and
- 12:24Speaker 2: go hit those when it's a little more, uh, weather conducive,
- 12:27Speaker 2: you know?
- 12:28Speaker 1: Yeah. Anything else that jumps out to you for this
- 12:30Speaker 1: first week? Any advice, anything for people to key in
- 12:33Speaker 1: on floors yours? Hmm.
- 12:40Speaker 2: I think, I think this first week is one of
- 12:45Speaker 2: your best opportunities to kill a buck throughout the season.
- 12:51Speaker 2: Minus maybe catching one during that rut time frame, obviously.
- 12:58Speaker 2: But to have it calculated, this is a buck that
- 13:03Speaker 2: I know about and he's on some type of a
- 13:05Speaker 2: patternable pattern right now. This is your opportunity.
- 13:08Speaker 1: I think.
- 13:11Speaker 2: The biggest thing is, is like be calculated this time
- 13:15Speaker 2: of year, like figure out what they're, what they're, you know,
- 13:18Speaker 2: the deer aren't overly complicated. They're betting somewhere and they
- 13:20Speaker 2: want to get up and go somewhere, you know, typically
- 13:23Speaker 2: food right now. So, um, this time of year, like
- 13:27Speaker 2: slow down, don't go into your, um, you know, if you're,
- 13:31Speaker 2: if you've got a good rut spot, don't be setting
- 13:32Speaker 2: it this time of year, uh, set by even, even this,
- 13:35Speaker 2: this first couple of days, it might be, um, I
- 13:38Speaker 2: don't know if you could, if you can shine it,
- 13:40Speaker 2: you know, the, some states you can go and shine and,
- 13:43Speaker 2: and get your eyes on a deer, um, or go
- 13:45Speaker 2: in glass in the couple of days when it's kind
- 13:49Speaker 2: of nasty weather, um, might be a good opportunity to
- 13:51Speaker 2: do that, to, to catch them, um, on this cold
- 13:55Speaker 2: front we're going to have after this, this hot, uh,
- 13:57Speaker 2: weather and the, and the rain come through and then.
- 14:00Speaker 4: Make a move on them.
- 14:01Speaker 2: But the pressure is coming there. The deer hunters are
- 14:04Speaker 2: going to be in the woods and things are going
- 14:05Speaker 2: to change after this, this week. So, get out there
- 14:08Speaker 2: and make a move on one of them is what
- 14:10Speaker 2: I would tell people.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yeah, I agree with that. There's going to be a
- 14:12Speaker 1: lot of change every single week, and that's why we
- 14:14Speaker 1: do Rough Fresh every week because things change so quickly
- 14:17Speaker 1: from here on out. And one thing that– do you
- 14:21Speaker 1: have any– do you agree or disagree with this philosophy? So, like,
- 14:24Speaker 1: if Sunday or Monday evening potentially is, like, a pretty
- 14:28Speaker 1: high-odd sit if you know of a deer in an area,
- 14:31Speaker 1: do you dare go to a burner spot Thursday or
- 14:33Speaker 1: Friday as a dry run– Cause I know every year
- 14:36Speaker 1: when I go out for the first time, I forget,
- 14:38Speaker 1: I forget this or like, I forgot my pull up
- 14:40Speaker 1: rope or I forgot my range finders. Like maybe I'm
- 14:42Speaker 1: projecting here, but it's like, you almost need one like
- 14:45Speaker 1: dry run walkthrough practice to really be ready when the
- 14:49Speaker 1: time comes.
- 14:50Speaker 2: That's funny.
- 14:51Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 14:51Speaker 2: I mean, if you got the time and stuff, then yeah, sure. Go,
- 14:55Speaker 2: go for it. You know, or if you want to
- 14:57Speaker 2: go shoot a doe somewhere, you know, something like that,
- 14:59Speaker 2: a hundred percent, you can go do that. I mean,
- 15:01Speaker 2: you could do that in your backyard.
- 15:02Speaker 1: That's true.
- 15:03Speaker 2: That's true. So, I mean, in my former life before
- 15:07Speaker 2: kids and two jobs and everything, I would have no question.
- 15:10Speaker 2: I'd be hunting somewhere, but now it's like, okay, I
- 15:12Speaker 2: could probably spend my time this weekend, uh, a little more, uh,
- 15:17Speaker 2: for family man wise, um, than just going to sit
- 15:20Speaker 2: to sit, you know? Um, but yeah, man, if you
- 15:24Speaker 2: got the time and never going to tell you not
- 15:25Speaker 2: to go hunting, you know?
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah. Well, I appreciate it. Josh scale one to 10,
- 15:30Speaker 1: 10 being the best week of the year. One being
- 15:32Speaker 1: one of the worst weeks of the year. Where do
- 15:33Speaker 1: you put the next seven days? On a scale of
- 15:36Speaker 1: 1 to 10.
- 15:38Speaker 2: So, like, probably for me, opening week would be like
- 15:43Speaker 2: maybe an 8. Okay.
- 15:44Speaker 1: For a couple reasons.
- 15:45Speaker 2: Like, the reasons I just kind of rattled off about,
- 15:48Speaker 2: you know, being a good time to catch a deer
- 15:51Speaker 2: off guard. But also, like, you haven't hunted for all year,
- 15:55Speaker 2: and you're just excited, and it's just a fun time
- 15:58Speaker 2: of the year because deer season has started, you know. So, yeah,
- 16:03Speaker 2: 8 out of 10 for me.
- 16:04Speaker 1: 8 out of 10. I like it. And then incredible podcast,
- 16:08Speaker 1: new episodes every week. Where can people find that?
- 16:11Speaker 2: Over on Before the Echo on YouTube. And then we're
- 16:15Speaker 2: on Apple and Spotify as well if you want to
- 16:17Speaker 2: listen to.
- 16:17Speaker 4: Them while you're driving down the road or anything.
- 16:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I encourage everyone to go check it out. It's
- 16:22Speaker 1: a great show. I thoroughly enjoy it. Thank you so much, Josh.
- 16:25Speaker 1: Good luck this season. And you'll have to text me
- 16:28Speaker 1: Sunday or Monday evening on how your first set goes.
- 16:31Speaker 2: Will do, man.
- 16:32Speaker 1: Good luck. All right, next up, we have Alex Comstock
- 16:35Speaker 1: from Minnesota. How's it going? Doing good.
- 16:37Speaker 4: How are you doing, Jake?
- 16:39Speaker 1: I'm doing really solid here. You guys have been open
- 16:42Speaker 1: here for a little bit, so this is more of a,
- 16:44Speaker 1: for a lot of folks, it's the first week of
- 16:46Speaker 1: the year, and people are just getting the cobwebs off
- 16:48Speaker 1: and maybe making a big swing, but you guys have
- 16:51Speaker 1: been going at it here for a little bit. What
- 16:53Speaker 1: has been cooking in Minnesota here in the last week
- 16:56Speaker 1: or so?
- 16:58Speaker 2: Not much.
- 16:58Speaker 4: How about that? We had.
- 17:02Speaker 5: Um you know we've got a couple different bucks we're
- 17:04Speaker 5: kind of targeting we've got one in particular that our
- 17:07Speaker 5: team member jeremy lopez has been after and i've been
- 17:10Speaker 5: uh following them around with the camera um playing cat
- 17:12Speaker 5: and mouse with the buck but we had a buck
- 17:15Speaker 5: that was daylighting dang near every day up and it's
- 17:18Speaker 5: like they know deer season starts and then they stop
- 17:20Speaker 5: and so they're trying to figure that out and weather
- 17:23Speaker 5: hasn't been the best but yeah it's pretty much what
- 17:25Speaker 5: we've been dealing with.
- 17:26Speaker 1: Yeah so um here recently hunting with jeremy what has
- 17:30Speaker 1: been like describe the setup as you guys go in
- 17:32Speaker 1: is it over a green food source is it I
- 17:34Speaker 1: mean kind of paint us a picture of where you
- 17:36Speaker 1: have been taking a few stabs at so far early
- 17:38Speaker 1: this season.
- 17:40Speaker 5: Yeah so we're hunting this deer in a suburban area
- 17:42Speaker 5: so you know pretty much in town and we've got
- 17:46Speaker 5: Jeremy's got a really cool private piece that we've found
- 17:48Speaker 5: a spot in the summer it's a pretty much two
- 17:51Speaker 5: trees next to each other we got an apple tree
- 17:53Speaker 5: and an oak tree and they're dropping apples and acorns
- 17:56Speaker 5: and we figured we literally had a tree with one
- 17:59Speaker 5: camera point at the apple tree, other camera pointed at
- 18:01Speaker 5: the Oak tree. Um, but the, I think what happened
- 18:05Speaker 5: is we ran out of food pretty much as season
- 18:09Speaker 5: acorns were dropping early apples were dropping. And now they're like,
- 18:13Speaker 5: it's weird. It's like super small crab apples. I like
- 18:15Speaker 5: the big apples. And, um, I mean, literally the day
- 18:19Speaker 5: before season, that buck was in there at five 30. Um,
- 18:24Speaker 5: and then Jeremy couldn't hunt opening day, but the second
- 18:26Speaker 5: day we hunted and we're, you know, on pins and
- 18:29Speaker 5: needles and that deer just became, we've got quite a
- 18:32Speaker 5: few cameras in a, it's like a little 12 acre piece. Um,
- 18:35Speaker 5: and I think we have like now 11 cameras in
- 18:39Speaker 5: the 12 acres. Like it's, we're putting a lot of
- 18:41Speaker 5: resources and he's like hitting camera every day now, but
- 18:45Speaker 5: it's very sporadic middle of the night. Um, you know,
- 18:49Speaker 5: here and there in daylight, but nothing consistent. And I
- 18:52Speaker 5: feel like if season had opened a week earlier, it
- 18:54Speaker 5: would have been a different story, but that's just pretty much.
- 18:57Speaker 1: How it goes.
- 18:57Speaker 4: I feel like a lot of time.
- 19:07Speaker 1: Now that there's a lot of truth that it does
- 19:09Speaker 1: seem like things always make a quick switch, right? When
- 19:11Speaker 1: you're ready to take a swing and that is early
- 19:14Speaker 1: season hunting in a nutshell. So Um, beyond that here looking,
- 19:18Speaker 1: you know, September 30th to October 7th. Um, what's kind
- 19:21Speaker 1: of your strategy, you know, weather considered food sources considered what, what,
- 19:27Speaker 1: you know, for anyone that's undecisive and maybe in the
- 19:29Speaker 1: Minnesota area, Wisconsin, maybe parts of North Dakota, what, what
- 19:34Speaker 1: has you excited or not excited here for the next
- 19:36Speaker 1: seven days?
- 19:38Speaker 5: Um, what, I don't love is the stagnant warm weather.
- 19:42Speaker 5: It's not like hot, but it's going to be up
- 19:44Speaker 5: where I'm in very northern Minnesota. It's going to be
- 19:46Speaker 5: low 70s, high 60s, which I don't love. And just
- 19:49Speaker 5: looking at the forecast here, peeking at it, the temps
- 19:52Speaker 5: look pretty much the same every day. What I'm looking
- 19:55Speaker 5: for this year is that little shift in temperature, even
- 19:59Speaker 5: if it's like, call it 71 to 54.
- 20:02Speaker 4: I mean, I guess that's a pretty big swing when
- 20:03Speaker 4: you think of it.
- 20:04Speaker 5: But like looking for those shifts and we still think,
- 20:07Speaker 5: I mean, We know of a couple of spots where
- 20:10Speaker 5: like this deer in particular, he's on, you know, like
- 20:12Speaker 5: legit big apple trees where he's mowing apples down. So
- 20:15Speaker 5: if you've got a good food source and have that
- 20:18Speaker 5: slight shift of temperature is kind of what we're looking
- 20:20Speaker 5: for because you get through this first seven days of
- 20:22Speaker 5: October and you don't have that good weather shift, then
- 20:25Speaker 5: everything for us shifts from the food sources to scrapes
- 20:29Speaker 5: as you get.
- 20:29Speaker 4: In past, you know, that October 7th timeframe.
- 20:32Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm glad you bring that up. I think now
- 20:34Speaker 1: is an excellent time for that predictable food source, which, um,
- 20:39Speaker 1: there's so much happening, you know, maybe you're in the
- 20:40Speaker 1: Midwest and maybe they're getting ready to pick, pick a
- 20:42Speaker 1: cornfield or a bean field or whatever the case may be.
- 20:45Speaker 1: Maybe there's a lot of shifting or maybe the farmers
- 20:47Speaker 1: get one last cut of alfalfa and that changes things. So,
- 20:50Speaker 1: you know, the window is pretty tight, uh, based off
- 20:54Speaker 1: of your experience there. It's like you're in it or
- 20:55Speaker 1: you're not, uh, for this next seven days.
- 20:58Speaker 4: Yeah, I totally agree.
- 20:59Speaker 5: I mean, if you've got, I think the best time
- 21:01Speaker 5: to start is if you've got a deer that, you know,
- 21:04Speaker 5: or a food source that you know is hot, you know,
- 21:07Speaker 5: and you can just get that. And even if it's like,
- 21:09Speaker 5: you know, you go from, you know, even if you
- 21:11Speaker 5: get like an 8 to 10 degree drop in your
- 21:13Speaker 5: first north wind in four days or something, that's when
- 21:16Speaker 5: I would look at, you know, if you've got, you know,
- 21:19Speaker 5: in the next seven days, if you've got, you know,
- 21:21Speaker 5: maybe a day you can leave work early or something,
- 21:23Speaker 5: you know, look for that slight shift in weather, I
- 21:25Speaker 5: think is just like your best time to make that
- 21:29Speaker 5: calculated strike if that's.
- 21:30Speaker 4: What's going to happen.
- 21:31Speaker 1: Yeah. So for someone that's like, man, this sounds great.
- 21:33Speaker 1: You know, if you have a buck to hunt right now,
- 21:35Speaker 1: but maybe they've been busy, maybe they don't have anything
- 21:38Speaker 1: on camera right now. What would you say to them?
- 21:39Speaker 1: Like starting from scratch and trying to still make the
- 21:43Speaker 1: seven days productive for setting up success for the rest
- 21:46Speaker 1: of the season, but they don't, you know, they kind
- 21:48Speaker 1: of feel behind the eight ball right now. What would
- 21:50Speaker 1: be your, you know, maybe one or two or three
- 21:51Speaker 1: step process of getting pointed in the right direction, you know,
- 21:55Speaker 1: for the remainder of the month?
- 21:56Speaker 5: Yeah, depending on what your situation is. If you can
- 21:59Speaker 5: sit somewhere you can see a lot, like if I
- 22:01Speaker 5: were out in North Dakota right now, I'd sit where
- 22:05Speaker 5: I could see the maximum distance and hopefully you can
- 22:08Speaker 5: catch a buck leaving what you would presume to be
- 22:11Speaker 5: a bedding area at the last minutes or something and
- 22:13Speaker 5: then make a move from there. Or if you're more
- 22:16Speaker 5: in the northern Minnesota hardwoods, I wouldn't be opposed to
- 22:20Speaker 5: scouting my way into a piece and like you know
- 22:22Speaker 5: hopefully you've got areas where you think maybe deer are
- 22:24Speaker 5: bedded and then if you can find even right now
- 22:27Speaker 5: as we're still in the september the first few days
- 22:28Speaker 5: of october find a fresh scrape you know i think
- 22:31Speaker 5: they're just really starting to we've had on camera scrapes
- 22:34Speaker 5: getting opened up and if you can find that spot
- 22:37Speaker 5: and i think you just got to get as tight
- 22:39Speaker 5: as you can or however comfortable you are depending on
- 22:42Speaker 5: your style of hunting you know to those bedrooms is
- 22:44Speaker 5: going to be your best.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Bet Yeah, I think that's great advice. And there's scrape
- 22:50Speaker 1: activity here in Illinois. Weather's been actually pretty unseasonably cool lately,
- 22:55Speaker 1: and scrape activity has been picking up pretty drastically. Obviously,
- 22:59Speaker 1: we don't open until October 1, so it's been watching
- 23:01Speaker 1: from the sidelines right now. But I think that's a
- 23:04Speaker 1: great way to utilize that time and shift resources. As
- 23:09Speaker 1: far as for the next seven days, do you think
- 23:12Speaker 1: you're going to be able to start tracking down your
- 23:14Speaker 1: own deer, or are you pretty much focused on helping
- 23:17Speaker 1: Jeremy pull this together on a more sporadic buck that
- 23:19Speaker 1: was once, you know, felt very predictable.
- 23:22Speaker 5: I think we, you know, have enough cameras in the
- 23:26Speaker 5: woods and I'm not going to say that I fully
- 23:28Speaker 5: rely on them because they can definitely be a crush,
- 23:30Speaker 5: but like, I only need to get a picture of
- 23:33Speaker 5: a deer. I don't care if it's middle of the
- 23:34Speaker 5: night before I like go after them and stuff like that.
- 23:36Speaker 5: And I've just got absolutely nothing right now to go after.
- 23:40Speaker 5: So as long as that stays the case, I'm going
- 23:42Speaker 5: to keep helping Jeremy just because for what we do,
- 23:45Speaker 5: I'd love to, to get that on camera and the
- 23:48Speaker 5: highest way possible opposed to sending himself filming. So, you know,
- 23:53Speaker 5: I've got a deer that I was hoping I had
- 23:55Speaker 5: them all summer and he disappeared mid August and hasn't
- 23:57Speaker 5: shown back up. And, um, I've got enough Intel on
- 24:01Speaker 5: that deer from other people that you set pictures of
- 24:03Speaker 5: them too, that haven't that I'm starting to get worried
- 24:05Speaker 5: he's dead. But other than that, yeah, it's kind of
- 24:08Speaker 5: follow Jeremy around. And, uh, until we get into, you know,
- 24:12Speaker 5: more of this October and like, middle of October, cold fronts,
- 24:16Speaker 5: I might buzz out to North Dakota here and there
- 24:18Speaker 5: and see what happens.
- 24:20Speaker 1: I like it. All right. So all things considered, weather,
- 24:23Speaker 1: time of year, everything else, scale one to 10, 10
- 24:25Speaker 1: being the best possible week of the entire year, one
- 24:27Speaker 1: being one of the worst. Where do you put the
- 24:30Speaker 1: next seven days, September 30th to October 7th?
- 24:34Speaker 5: You know, I feel like every time I've done these
- 24:35Speaker 5: in the past, I try to be optimistic, but I'm going,
- 24:38Speaker 5: I'm going to go with like a three over the
- 24:40Speaker 5: next seven days.
- 24:41Speaker 1: I don't, I don't love it.
- 24:42Speaker 4: I don't love how the weather looks.
- 24:44Speaker 5: And it's probably one of my, you know, I like September,
- 24:49Speaker 5: but that like this time to the first few days
- 24:52Speaker 5: of October, if you don't have.
- 24:53Speaker 4: The right weather, I don't love it. So I'm going
- 24:54Speaker 4: to give it a three.
- 24:56Speaker 1: All right. I respect the honesty, Alex. We got to
- 25:01Speaker 1: make it a reality. If that's what it is, that's
- 25:03Speaker 1: what it is.
- 25:04Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Yeah. Oh, well, so if, if people want to follow
- 25:08Speaker 1: along with the rest of your season and everything else
- 25:11Speaker 1: that you guys have going on, what is the best
- 25:13Speaker 1: place to do that?
- 25:15Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 25:15Speaker 5: If you just type in whitetail DNA to YouTube, that's
- 25:17Speaker 5: where we're releasing hunt videos, um, and educational videos on Instagram,
- 25:22Speaker 5: whitetail underscore DNA between those two platforms.
- 25:26Speaker 4: You know, that's pretty much where you're going to find
- 25:27Speaker 4: all the best stuff.
- 25:29Speaker 1: Awesome. Thank you so much, Alex. Good luck this season.
- 25:31Speaker 1: Tell Jeremy, good luck.
- 25:32Speaker 2: All right.
- 25:33Speaker 1: Will do.
- 25:33Speaker 4: Appreciate it, Jake. Good luck to you too.
- 25:35Speaker 1: All right, we got Josh Proffitt from Kentucky. Josh, how's
- 25:38Speaker 1: it going?
- 25:39Speaker 4: It's good, man.
- 25:40Speaker 3: It is great, man. God's good.
- 25:42Speaker 4: How are you?
- 25:43Speaker 1: I'm doing good. We're getting into the second week of
- 25:46Speaker 1: Rough Fresh here for the year. And last week, the
- 25:48Speaker 1: theme was pretty heavily about acorns. And there was a variety.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Ohio opened this past weekend. Much of the rest of
- 25:57Speaker 1: the country is going to be opening October 1st. So
- 25:59Speaker 1: we're in it. And Kentucky's been open. And I know
- 26:04Speaker 1: you haven't had a chance to hit it extremely hard yet,
- 26:07Speaker 1: but kind of looking at the weather and conditions and
- 26:09Speaker 1: everything else, like what are we looking at here for
- 26:11Speaker 1: the next seven days, September 30th to the 7th? What
- 26:14Speaker 1: has you excited?
- 26:15Speaker 3: Man, so like today, we're on a warming trend today.
- 26:20Speaker 3: High is 80. By Wednesday, we got 91. And then somewhere,
- 26:27Speaker 3: I don't know what date Saturday falls in, but– We
- 26:31Speaker 3: got rain coming in for three days is what the
- 26:33Speaker 3: weather's showing. And then early next week, like the 5th
- 26:37Speaker 3: and 6th, it's dropping 25, 20, 25 degrees. You know, sunny,
- 26:42Speaker 3: hot pressure days, everything that you would dream of as
- 26:46Speaker 3: an opening week of bow hunting.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Yeah. I think it's going to be a lot of
- 26:50Speaker 1: really great hunts for a lot of people across the country.
- 26:53Speaker 1: I mean, looking here in Illinois, somewhat of a similar
- 26:56Speaker 1: weather pattern on the first here. It looks like we're
- 26:58Speaker 1: supposed to get an inch of rain and then a
- 27:00Speaker 1: cool off. And man, I can remember a lot of
- 27:04Speaker 1: first of October's where it might as well be 95 degrees.
- 27:07Speaker 1: Cause it felt like that. So this is a nice
- 27:09Speaker 1: change of pace.
- 27:10Speaker 3: What, um, that's the recipe, dude.
- 27:13Speaker 1: That is the recipe. The weather is key here. What, um,
- 27:16Speaker 1: what have you been, what do you think the deer
- 27:18Speaker 1: are feeding on and your neck of the woods in Kentucky?
- 27:20Speaker 1: Do you think they were switched over to acorns? Is
- 27:22Speaker 1: there still some green soybean fields? Are they still in alfalfa? Um,
- 27:26Speaker 1: or are they deep in the timber?
- 27:28Speaker 3: Man, uh, I really think it's all about the acorns,
- 27:31Speaker 3: no matter where you're at right now. They say that's
- 27:34Speaker 3: their number one food source, and I believe it. It
- 27:37Speaker 3: was so weird. We had such a wet summer here,
- 27:42Speaker 3: but towards the very end of it, we had no rain.
- 27:46Speaker 3: So they're getting the crops out like crazy. Corn, beans.
- 27:51Speaker 3: The bean fields have turned, I don't know, probably a
- 27:55Speaker 3: month ago, every one that I've seen. So that's kind
- 27:58Speaker 3: of out of the game here. But we do have
- 28:00Speaker 3: some cut cornfields, I mean, literally popping up everywhere every day. But, man,
- 28:06Speaker 3: you just can't beat that mass crop and the timber
- 28:08Speaker 3: from those white oaks.
- 28:12Speaker 1: Last week it was kind of all over the place
- 28:14Speaker 1: in terms of the production of the mass crop. We
- 28:19Speaker 1: had Maryland, we had Wisconsin, we had Ohio, and we
- 28:23Speaker 1: had one other state that I'm– and I think North Carolina.
- 28:27Speaker 1: And there was quite a variety of what the mass
- 28:30Speaker 1: crop scout was. Have you paid any attention to see
- 28:34Speaker 1: if this is going to be a bumper crop, average crop?
- 28:37Speaker 1: Hard to tell.
- 28:39Speaker 3: No, I really haven't, other than around my yard. I've
- 28:43Speaker 3: got about five acres of timber right there at my house,
- 28:47Speaker 3: and it is white oaks, nothing but white oaks, and
- 28:50Speaker 3: they all are good. They're all in my yard right
- 28:53Speaker 3: now and all over my driveway. So I'm assuming... it's
- 28:56Speaker 3: going to be a good year.
- 28:57Speaker 1: Yeah. Have you had deer eating, eating in your yard?
- 29:01Speaker 3: Man, every day. I've got food plots in my yard.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Okay. So that's, this is a good, good, uh, in
- 29:09Speaker 1: the evening. Are you seeing them stand underneath the Oak trees?
- 29:11Speaker 1: Are you seeing them hit your food plots or both?
- 29:14Speaker 3: Man, it's, I'm going to say it's more than that
- 29:17Speaker 3: and more than the Oak trees. Yeah, for sure. Um,
- 29:20Speaker 3: I know it's probably what everybody's talking about right now
- 29:22Speaker 3: because that's, you've been deer, deer hunting very long. That's,
- 29:26Speaker 3: Really what they're going after. And I'm not saying they
- 29:30Speaker 3: won't change it up here on some of these ag fields,
- 29:33Speaker 3: especially like the cornfields. I do think that you could
- 29:37Speaker 3: catch one slipping out to an ag field. It's just
- 29:41Speaker 3: such a toss-up, man, because I know how it is
- 29:43Speaker 3: when the acorns start falling. Yeah.
- 29:46Speaker 1: Let's say for someone that is newer to hunting and
- 29:49Speaker 1: they're hearing this now and they're like, oh my gosh,
- 29:51Speaker 1: I've paid attention to the row crops, I've found thick
- 29:54Speaker 1: bedding areas, I've done all these other things, but I
- 29:57Speaker 1: haven't identified... white oak trees to where i don't know
- 30:01Speaker 1: if there's acorns i think there's some acorns potentially or
- 30:04Speaker 1: white oaks on on this particular piece of public or
- 30:06Speaker 1: property that i hunt but i don't know that for
- 30:08Speaker 1: sure would you encourage them to go out on maybe
- 30:11Speaker 1: one of those rainy days or really hot days and
- 30:13Speaker 1: and do a speed scout to try to figure out
- 30:15Speaker 1: where they may or may not be feeding i would.
- 30:17Speaker 3: Probably choose a hot day in the middle of the
- 30:20Speaker 3: day you know try to stay out of there when
- 30:21Speaker 3: it's real wet just you know you're gonna leave a
- 30:23Speaker 3: lot less scent when it's dry and um But you
- 30:27Speaker 3: can slip in there and just look around, and it's
- 30:30Speaker 3: real easy to find where they're eating at, if they
- 30:34Speaker 3: are eating it. It makes it real hard when all
- 30:36Speaker 3: the trees are raining down. It really does. But, I mean,
- 30:40Speaker 3: they will literally turn the leaves up. And from my experience,
- 30:44Speaker 3: the most I can tell, they spit like that whole
- 30:47Speaker 3: of the acorn out. Like you can physically find where
- 30:51Speaker 3: they've chewed them and spit them out.
- 30:53Speaker 1: Yeah. I've never paid close enough attention to that.
- 30:56Speaker 3: A lot of times, you know, you got the perfect recipe.
- 30:59Speaker 3: You'll find some fresh rubs or scrapes right there, you know,
- 31:03Speaker 3: the droppings. But for me, like I've found some over
- 31:08Speaker 3: the years that were really close to bedding, like where
- 31:10Speaker 3: the deer had advantages for whatever reason, and they really
- 31:14Speaker 3: would just be tore up. It'd look like, you know,
- 31:17Speaker 3: turkeys were in there scratching around, if that makes sense.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Yeah. So that's probably the biggest thing for someone to
- 31:23Speaker 1: do this upcoming week for folks that are having an
- 31:26Speaker 1: opening day season. I know you had success early last
- 31:29Speaker 1: year in Kentucky. I feel like there's two philosophies when
- 31:33Speaker 1: it comes to early season. It's swing for the fences
- 31:37Speaker 1: or play a little defensively. Where do you fall on that?
- 31:42Speaker 3: I've always swung for the fences. I'll always go down swinging.
- 31:50Speaker 3: If I strike out, I'm going to go down swinging.
- 31:52Speaker 3: I'm not going to let the ball come, but I've
- 31:54Speaker 3: always hunted, so, you know, been on the public ground.
- 31:56Speaker 3: I've always had thousands and thousands and thousands of acres.
- 31:59Speaker 3: And if I bumped a deer, I would just move
- 32:01Speaker 3: on to the next one because I always had an
- 32:04Speaker 3: A plan, a B plan, or, you know, a C plan. And,
- 32:07Speaker 3: you know, even though I'm grateful and I have a
- 32:10Speaker 3: couple thousand acres of private ground to hunt now, I
- 32:14Speaker 3: definitely can, I'm being way more cautious. Way more cautious.
- 32:21Speaker 1: Yeah. I think that's a good example of those two
- 32:24Speaker 1: different almost hunting styles, too, of when you have plan
- 32:28Speaker 1: A to Z. You can afford to swing really hard
- 32:32Speaker 1: every time or if you need to be a little
- 32:34Speaker 1: bit more methodical. Based off the weather and everything else,
- 32:37Speaker 1: on a scale of 1 to 10, how are things
- 32:39Speaker 1: shaping up for the 30th to the 7th with that
- 32:42Speaker 1: front that rolls in, the rain's going to stop, temperature's
- 32:45Speaker 1: going to drop, pressure's going to increase? Sounds like a
- 32:47Speaker 1: pretty good recipe here. Scale of 1 to 10, where
- 32:50Speaker 1: do you put it?
- 32:51Speaker 3: And I put it, I put it up there. I
- 32:53Speaker 3: really do just because like right now, you know, it's
- 32:57Speaker 3: today probably wouldn't be a bad day, but you know,
- 33:00Speaker 3: come Wednesday when it's 90 at right at the 1st
- 33:03Speaker 3: of October, I think the 1st is Thursday. Dude, it's
- 33:05Speaker 3: just no good. Um, then you put a little rain
- 33:09Speaker 3: in there and five days later it drops 20 or
- 33:11Speaker 3: 25 degrees. And you know, the parameters, uh, you know,
- 33:15Speaker 3: I really do think the sunny high pressure days are
- 33:18Speaker 3: the best. That's just me. But, um, Man, I don't
- 33:21Speaker 3: see how for an evening set, or even if you
- 33:24Speaker 3: were set up in the morning in the right position,
- 33:26Speaker 3: I don't even see how it could be any better
- 33:28Speaker 3: this time of year. I really do think there'll be
- 33:31Speaker 3: some big deer die, especially in Southern Illinois, places that
- 33:34Speaker 3: are close to me that have real similar weather, because
- 33:37Speaker 3: deer just haven't had any pressure yet.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Right. Yeah. So, great opportunity to capitalize on that, depending
- 33:42Speaker 1: on what state you're in. It's exciting, man. This is
- 33:47Speaker 1: like the October 1 episode, so that means... We're all
- 33:51Speaker 1: really excited and giddy and a lot of opportunity, and
- 33:54Speaker 1: I think it's going to be a great year for
- 33:56Speaker 1: people to learn, get better, and ultimately just enjoy this
- 34:00Speaker 1: time that we've been waiting for all year because it
- 34:02Speaker 1: goes by fast. We were just talking before, and the
- 34:04Speaker 1: year flew by, and now the rest of the year
- 34:07Speaker 1: is going to go even faster because things get crazy busy.
- 34:12Speaker 3: You know, life, it goes fast. When I was a
- 34:14Speaker 3: coal miner, I used to wish my life away, you know,
- 34:17Speaker 3: like can't wait for the weekend or can't wait for– November,
- 34:20Speaker 3: can't wait for vacation. And, you know, now that I'm
- 34:24Speaker 3: in here in this barbershop, you know, my kids are
- 34:26Speaker 3: pretty much grown up and the weekend's here. And, you know,
- 34:31Speaker 3: I wish things could slow down a little bit. I
- 34:35Speaker 3: guess it shows you how precious life is. But, man,
- 34:38Speaker 3: for everybody that's listening, like if they could take advantage
- 34:42Speaker 3: of this time frame around in here, like today, for
- 34:45Speaker 3: an example, if you could get out and glass like
- 34:47Speaker 3: some of these ag fields, that have been harvested or
- 34:52Speaker 3: maybe even an observation set and spend a couple of
- 34:55Speaker 3: days doing that. And then maybe take advantage of a
- 34:59Speaker 3: day that you can slip in there and maybe look
- 35:02Speaker 3: for some white oaks. That might even give you a
- 35:03Speaker 3: little better idea, you know, and where to be because
- 35:06Speaker 3: over the years, it's weird how I've changed and how my,
- 35:10Speaker 3: my views have changed. And like, I look at it now, like,
- 35:14Speaker 3: I'm not sure there's a wrong way to deer hunt.
- 35:19Speaker 3: I mean, I think there's better ways. Sure. You know,
- 35:23Speaker 3: I do think there's better ways. So, man, if I
- 35:27Speaker 3: was going to tell anybody, I would get out glass
- 35:28Speaker 3: and fields a couple days, and then if you could
- 35:31Speaker 3: get in there before the rain, you know, that way
- 35:33Speaker 3: you're sensing all over the ground, I would get in
- 35:36Speaker 3: there and I would check some white oaks. I really
- 35:38Speaker 3: would look for whether they chew those holes out because
- 35:41Speaker 3: they really do. They'll spit them out, and there'll be
- 35:44Speaker 3: droppings in there. And, you know, this time of year, man,
- 35:47Speaker 3: if there's some bucks in there, There's going to be
- 35:49Speaker 3: some sign.
- 35:50Speaker 1: Yeah, perfect. Well, Josh, if people want to swing in
- 35:53Speaker 1: and get a fresh cut for deer season, where do
- 35:57Speaker 1: they do that?
- 35:59Speaker 3: The big buck cuts are at Seabree Barbershop here in
- 36:02Speaker 3: western Kentucky.
- 36:03Speaker 2: Awesome.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Well, thank you so much, Josh. Good luck this season. Yes, sir.
