- 2:42we're just so uncertain, and we can change that chaos into the
- 2:49most incredible life. So with no further ado, I bring
- 2:54to you the amazing Valerie Jacqueline Ritchie.
- 2:58Hello, Valerie. Hello Terry, Thank you for
- 3:03having me. Well, you are absolutely
- 3:07welcome, beautiful lady. And you know, I always love to
- 3:11start like a movie because a movie is not a great movie
- 3:17unless it has a really spicy element of where there's a dark
- 3:24night of the soul, there's this massive challenge.
- 3:28And in your case, you went to the doctor you were trying to
- 3:33conceive at the right age of 42 just to be hit up with, told you
- 3:41were menopausal. Would you like to tell us the
- 3:44story, how that impacted you, what that felt like?
- 3:49And you know, what happens in a woman's life, you know, to a lot
- 3:54of people when they hit that kind of part of their life.
- 4:00Yes, I believe that this stage in my life has made me who I am
- 4:06today. When I went into that doctor's
- 4:09office and I went in with hope that you know fertility results
- 4:15were going to say yes, you might be struggle to get pregnant, but
- 4:19at the same time, you know there was hope.
- 4:22It never crossed my mind. The words she used.
- 4:27Your results are in your post menopausal now.
- 4:31In that instant, I was like, what do you mean host?
- 4:37And it hit me. It was like a slap in the face.
- 4:43I don't only just you know, we got into relationship.
- 4:46We were going for it. We didn't have children at all.
- 4:50This was a moment to put us 2 together.
- 4:54When that doctor said those words, it ripped me apart.
- 4:58I actually but didn't realise how much I actually wanted a
- 5:03child until she said those words.
- 5:07And she continued to talk but I didn't hear anything.
- 5:12All I could think was I'm never going to be a mother.
- 5:17Never. And the crazy thing is when she
- 5:20said post menopausal I thought, well how could I possibly be?
- 5:24How did I get to that stage and actually not know?
- 5:27I was post menopausal, you know, I know about menopause, but post
- 5:34means it's gone, it's over. You know, that time to have a
- 5:37child is is completely gone. And when I walked out of the
- 5:45doctor's the tears just came. The tears just run.
- 5:49I actually don't know how I drove and then I told my my
- 5:56partner and he just held me and then he had to drive and Take Me
- 6:00Home. But all I could think about was
- 6:03why me? Why am I the only one that this
- 6:07has happened to? You know, I went inside my head.
- 6:12I, I just looked at all the thoughts of that this I'm never
- 6:16going to be pregnant. I'm never going to have that
- 6:18belly. I'm never going to produce.
- 6:20I'm never going to bring a child into the world.
- 6:23And to me, it was like, what was the point?
- 6:27And it wasn't what was the point of living?
- 6:31It was just what was the point of like, well, who am I?
- 6:35What's, you know, what's yeah, what's my identity?
- 6:38I don't know who I am. And that threw up so much chaos
- 6:44in my life because I started to look at myself in like, well,
- 6:48why am I here? What is my purpose?
- 6:52And I honest, I honestly believe that that brought about my
- 6:58purpose, that brought about that I needed to share my story.
- 7:06I absolutely cannot agree with you more because God brings a
- 7:15breakthrough and rises people to the next level following the
- 7:22biggest adversity of their lives and those people who can face
- 7:30adversity and hence the show and what this show is all about.
- 7:35Because this is your story, but there are people out there with
- 7:40their own story. And it's a story of pain.
- 7:44It's a a story of uncertainty. It's a story of chaos where your
- 7:49life just gets turned upside down.
- 7:53And, you know, this is where the people that can be awake, that
- 7:59can wake up and understand exactly that there is a higher
- 8:05purpose. This is the story behind your
- 8:09glory. But it doesn't stop there
- 8:12because redundancy came for you as well.
- 8:16And there must have been a point where this does happen as well.
- 8:20And you can open this up where people do reach that point in
- 8:24their career where they're going.
- 8:26Is this really what I want? And, and I think you really hit
- 8:29the nail on the head by, you know, asking the questions, who
- 8:33am I? You know, and it doesn't have to
- 8:36be a woman who can't have a child.
- 8:38It can be for a person going through any kind of crisis in
- 8:43their life, you know, where they end up.
- 8:46One of my podcasts, a man was saying it was holding onto a
- 8:50bridge, ready to let go, asking who am I?
- 8:55Why am I here? So, you know, obviously you've
- 9:00met with that redundancy, but so many people meet with that
- 9:05crossroads of what they're doing.
- 9:08Can you open up that pain and and what happened through there?
- 9:12Yeah. So I've been in education for 30
- 9:18years, loved it, loved being in front of my students as I went
- 9:22up the ladder, so to speak. I, you know, became a senior
- 9:25lecturer and the senior lecturer position meant you were moving
- 9:29away from being in front of your students and you were doing more
- 9:33admin work, managerial work, which was great.
- 9:36However, my passion is education and I love educating and became
- 9:42the time when redundancy was on the table and it was an
- 9:48opportunity for do I take the redundancy or do I try and stay
- 9:52and do something that I was losing my passion for.
- 9:56I chose the redundancy because again it meant that it was
- 10:01leading me to where I needed to be.
- 10:04That was no longer who I was and I needed to find who I was meant
- 10:09to be. And it is a big, massive change
- 10:13in a life because if you spent 30 years doing the sort of like
- 10:17the same thing, you identify as that person that is, you know,
- 10:22you forget that you're actually the me.
- 10:27It's who am I not the role that I've been doing for 30 odd
- 10:31years. So that again threw up that
- 10:34chaos of identity that looking in a mirror, thinking who is the
- 10:40person in front of me? Who am I?
- 10:43What is my next stage? How am I going to step up and do
- 10:48something that really fulfills me, engages my passion again,
- 10:54lights me up, brings on the shine and delivers what I am
- 11:01here to do? And that redundancy took me into
- 11:05that dark, yes, but we as all know from darkness there was
- 11:11always light and I had to step forward into that light.
- 11:15And that's what the redundancy did for me.
- 11:18I I feel that there's people that need to hear that because
- 11:22that right there, there are so many people caught in the golden
- 11:27handcuffs where they feel that they're too old so they start
- 11:32telling themselves these stories.
- 11:34I'm at an age now. What else is there for me?
- 11:38They're kind of handcuffed because of the money.
- 11:42And yet you hear stories of people that got a redundancy and
- 11:47were absolutely devastated just to find that it was the inroad
- 11:53to one of the greatest things that was to happen for them.
- 11:56And you know, what you know becomes of them as a result.
- 12:02It's like, you know, the jigsaw puzzle and not making sense and
- 12:08everything, you know, pieces missing and then all of a sudden
- 12:11it all comes together. So what was it that you did
- 12:16that, you know, converted you to?
- 12:19You know, obviously I can see how the teacher, the preacher,
- 12:23the mentor and the speaker is truly all really all roads lead
- 12:32to to 1. So what did you do to embark on
- 12:36that? So when you decided, right, I am
- 12:40going to be, you know, this motivational speaker, I am going
- 12:45to create a program and I love it.
- 12:48Get your sexy back and beyond. I love, love, love that.
- 12:53And I think both men and women can hear that too.
- 12:57So tell us your steps. What was the transition?
- 13:02And, you know, did you just wake up one day and say I'm going to
- 13:06become a coach? You don't tell us about that.
- 13:10Well, The funny thing is as I before I was made redundant, I
- 13:14was looking into coaching and it is a natural thing because I did
- 13:18coaching when I was in my job. My background's in sports, so I
- 13:23had the sports coaching aspect anyway, but I was thinking of a
- 13:27sideline to do alongside my job and it was the coaching element
- 13:31and I looked into it and I decided, you know, that's ideal
- 13:35for me. The thing with coaching is you
- 13:39need coaching. You know, every coach needs
- 13:42coaching, so you can't just do it without being coached.
- 13:46So as part of this chaotic period of my life, because it
- 13:50was almost like knock on effects that was just hitting me.
- 13:53You know, as much as I might have wanted to ignore something,
- 13:56every time I got another hit, it was like come on now, move
- 14:00forward, move forward. So I decided to go into the
- 14:04coaching and I took some time out from the teaching, you know,
- 14:09from moving from the redundancy into the coaching because I
- 14:11needed to ground myself and find myself and figure out different
- 14:16things about myself. So I moved into the coaching and
- 14:19one of the things that I found because I am a midlife woman,
- 14:24that resonated with me because I've been through these ups and
- 14:27downs, chaotic times of being a midlife woman.
- 14:31It spoke to me that those are the my ideal target audience, my
- 14:36ideal clients, the people that I wanted to speak to and inspire
- 14:41to take charge of their lives. And I didn't want to do it in a
- 14:46way where we normally have like the grown method and you're
- 14:49setting your goals and so forth and do it in a sort of
- 14:53traditional way. I wanted to add a bit more spice
- 14:56to it because being a midlife woman, it's not just about
- 15:02menopause. And I always like to say there
- 15:06is more to life than menopause because there's so much that
- 15:12hits us all, maybe maybe all at the same time.
- 15:17So I like to do my coaching based on what the woman is
- 15:21showing me, but from a holistic point of view.
- 15:25So we're touching on many parameters of coaching and my
- 15:31coaching methods vary depending on who's in front of me.
- 15:36And like I said, my background is sports, health, fitness, so I
- 15:40might do from that side as well. But I have spirituality and I
- 15:46love to embody that. And I do believe as what I call
- 15:51myself the Crone Goddess. And the Crone Goddess is that
- 15:56powerful, wise woman that accepts who she is, believes in
- 16:01herself, celebrates who she is now and let go of all those
- 16:09chains that held, you know, that held us back.
- 16:12So I come from that Chrome goddess point.
- 16:15So you're using the wisdom that you already have within you,
- 16:19dive deep into the strengths and acknowledges your strengths
- 16:22along the way. Look at your challenges that
- 16:26you've had and look at them in a way that shows actually, if I've
- 16:31got through that challenge, I'm here, I've got through that
- 16:33challenge, I'm here. All those challenges we
- 16:36sometimes take for granted, you know, we naturally take for
- 16:41granted things that have happened in our life because
- 16:44we've moved on. And especially women.
- 16:46Women tend to take everything on board.
- 16:49We have that natural nurturing nature, but there's also
- 16:53societal expectation that we should be that.
- 16:57And then because of those expectations, we give
- 17:02everything. And to me, the first person we
- 17:07should give to is ourselves. And so in my coaching, I love to
- 17:15promote that. So therefore this is an
- 17:18opportunity for a woman to actually look at herself and
- 17:21maybe for the very first time, which can be scary, but look at
- 17:26really deep who she is and then take that on board and then
- 17:32start to be herself truly. Be herself, yeah.
- 17:36And. Through my coaching, that's what
- 17:37I do. I love that.
- 17:40And and you know, while you know, the spell check wanted to
- 17:45come up with crown goddess, it's very much Crone spelled Crone.
- 17:51So what does Crone actually mean?
- 17:56So I take it from the Triple Goddess and it represents a
- 18:00stage in our lives. Triple Goddess, you have the
- 18:03maiden, you have the mother and you have the Crone.
- 18:07Back in the day the Crone was the grandmother and if you think
- 18:11about it, as children we always looked up to the grandmother
- 18:15because the grandmother knew everything.
- 18:18The grandmother had a different take on life.
- 18:21We looked at mum and mum might be frustrated and had so many
- 18:24different things going on, but when we looked at the
- 18:26grandmother she tended to be calm, powerful, wise.
- 18:31We would ask questions and she had something to give us.
- 18:34And in natural fact the grandmother has been there, worn
- 18:37the T-shirt, done everything. So it's a stage in a woman's
- 18:40life which she reaches, but it's when you step into it and
- 18:48celebrate it and go, you know, I've reached that Crone Goddess
- 18:52stage where you fully accept who you are and you turn selfishness
- 19:01into selflessness because then you're filling yourself.
- 19:05And you can give a hell of a lot more than you possibly think.
- 19:11Because we always say we give a lot.
- 19:15But if you're not giving to yourself, how much are you
- 19:18actually giving? Yeah, exactly.
- 19:22You know, my husband had has this saying you cannot give away
- 19:26anything you haven't got. Now I'm going to have to address
- 19:29the elephant in the room. Otherwise my listeners just will
- 19:33not be happy about this. And of course, if we especially
- 19:38get women who weren't able to have children for whatever one
- 19:45reason or the other, or a person who is going through an early
- 19:50menopause, like what happened with you, we do understand that,
- 19:57you know, when we can embrace all the things that happen in
- 20:01our life, whether we made-up, like obviously you made-up in
- 20:05your mind probably from when you were a little girl, that the
- 20:10fairy Princess story was that being a mother was the thing,
- 20:14right? And yet not everybody.
- 20:18Is born that way. And I also say to others because
- 20:22everything is about a perceptual shift.
- 20:24And so you know, oh, you say you don't have children, but in
- 20:28actual fact, you're you know, I'm not talking about you
- 20:31directly because I have to address the elephant in the
- 20:34room, but you know the teacher well, you've got tons of
- 20:39students, you have plenty of children.
- 20:43So actually nothing is missing. Everything is filled with
- 20:47equilibrium. So being that you were
- 20:51menopause, did you have children?
- 20:55And what was your take on whether you did or you didn't?
- 21:01If you didn't, you know, what's your new belief system around
- 21:05that? So when I entered the Chrome
- 21:10stage and I looked at it and I thought well, well, to the
- 21:14mother bit, but it actually made me reflect on that role of
- 21:20mother. And I interpret mother as a
- 21:25thing that we all have because it's about your nurturing side
- 21:30doing my students and my children, my nephew and nieces
- 21:34are my children. I've always had the mother and
- 21:37it took that reflective part of my life to realise actually the
- 21:42mother was always there and I love that.
- 21:46I am still the mother. I'm a godmother, I'm a fantastic
- 21:50auntie. I radiate mother because people
- 21:54come to me and I love that. So I had to look at it from a
- 21:59different point of view. Mother to me isn't the fact that
- 22:03you have given birth and you have a child in your life that
- 22:07you cared for directly. Mother is in US innately.
- 22:11It's what we do, you know, it could be you could take it into
- 22:16business and birth in a new business that is your almost
- 22:20like your baby. You know, I've had furry babies,
- 22:24you know, type cherish, you know, so I looked at mother in a
- 22:28completely different way, because if you just focus on the
- 22:34the birthing or, you know, the physical side of producing or
- 22:39fostering or adopting and you just miss and you say you can't
- 22:43do that. It's almost like closing a part
- 22:45of you that has always been open.
- 22:48And I really truly believe, even though it's hard and it might
- 22:52take a bit of time, you always have that mother within you.
- 22:58You always have. To refrain them.
- 23:01I, I, I really needed to know that because, you know, it
- 23:04wouldn't be fair to my listeners to be listening to this show to
- 23:07knowing that, you know, whether did she have children, what
- 23:11happened there? And, you know, stick around
- 23:14because what's going to happen is we are going to go on a
- 23:18journey with this beautiful lady to do a cave visualization.
- 23:22So just to remind everyone out there.
- 23:26So we've talked about the chaos factor.
- 23:28We've talked about, you know, the perceptual positioning of
- 23:33being able to turn your perception around about your
- 23:37situation, and that includes your age.
- 23:40You don't have to see your age as something that is, you know,
- 23:45truly a deficit. In fact, you can see it as
- 23:48wisdom. You can see it as a blessing.
- 23:51You can see it as something beyond because that's that's
- 23:55what everything in this show is all about, the genius zone.
- 23:59It's about being able to turn, you know, that bold adversity
- 24:06into gold. And so that is really what it's
- 24:10all about. So now we're going to talk
- 24:13about, obviously, you know, I can see.
- 24:16And for those of you out there that are sort of feeling like
- 24:20you're in that chaos, you know, this lady is your lady to speak
- 24:25to because she's going to really be able to help you to look in
- 24:32the mirror and literally discover who you are.
- 24:36But what this is all about is this is about being able to
- 24:41switch and change the trajectory of your life by really moving
- 24:48what you perceive is going wrong in your life to changing it into
- 24:56actually the possibilities of your glory.
- 25:00So we've talked about the Crone, the goddess wisdom, the
- 25:04obviously the element of, you know, chaotic midlife crisis and
- 25:12what that brings to the table. And now let's get into the juicy
- 25:16part. This is the method.
- 25:19And you know, I love this because, you know, I love to
- 25:24look at people in their genius zone and go, you know what, what
- 25:28you thought that you took for granted that you once did.
- 25:33Like, you know, maybe you did art or maybe you did sport, or
- 25:37maybe you're a teacher, or maybe you love to go on stage.
- 25:42It's interesting where you can bring all of those qualities to
- 25:48the center of your life and really come to the conclusion
- 25:53that, you know, this is who I am and we're going to talk about
- 25:58mirror work. So mirror work, what do you say?
- 26:03Louise Hay was huge on this, but can you go into a little bit of
- 26:08depth for our listeners that listen to this podcast and tell
- 26:14us what Mirror Work is all about and what that person can do for
- 26:18themself? Yeah, so I like to do mirror
- 26:23work. And if you think about it, when
- 26:26you stand in front of a mirror, what do you actually see?
- 26:31Because often enough when I'm speaking to my clients and I say
- 26:33look into the mirror, they now tell me about their facial
- 26:36features, the lines, you know, how they look.
- 26:41And I'm saying, no, look into the mirror and see you.
- 26:44And when I talk about this, I'm talking about looking straight
- 26:47into your own eyes and look deep into your own eyes and only your
- 26:52eyes. And then I asked them, tell me
- 26:55what you see. Now, this can be very, very hard
- 26:59because most people actually don't look into their own eyes.
- 27:03They just see the outside, you know?
- 27:06But if you can look into your own eyes and get deep into your
- 27:09soul and then tell me what you see, that's an important thing.
- 27:13And I ask questions, like tell me what you see.
- 27:17What does that person see? What is she saying?
- 27:20Does she like the person that she sees?
- 27:23What does she like about the person?
- 27:26Tell me the good stuff. And it makes them think.
- 27:30And it can be a very emotional thing because it might be the
- 27:32first time they've ever done it. I also get them to use their
- 27:36name because I think that's important.
- 27:40You know? What's Valerie saying?
- 27:42You know, they come up well, she's saying, I said, who's she?
- 27:46Use your name. So if you're going to do it, you
- 27:48know, say for me, it's like Valerie says that I'm looking
- 27:54great because such a fault or Valerie loves you.
- 27:57My eyes and she said they're beautiful, They're brown,
- 28:01they're big, they're very expressive.
- 28:04Valerie loves the way that when she smiles, it can be crooked.
- 28:08It's cheeky. It's a big cheesy grin, you
- 28:12know, and things like that. And you're actually asking the
- 28:15question of yourself, but you're continuing looking into your own
- 28:20eyes. And I know when you're asking
- 28:22those questions, we start to dart and I bring them back.
- 28:25Keep looking, keep looking, keep looking.
- 28:28Oh, so you're with them? Are you actually with them when
- 28:32they're doing the mirror work? Yes, because you know, it's to
- 28:36keep them looking into their own eyes because we have that
- 28:39natural looking away bit and I get them back, get them back and
- 28:43it and it's it takes time. So this isn't like a quick 5
- 28:49minute practice. It's a longer practice.
- 28:53It could be, you know, about 30 minutes of practice, and that's
- 28:57a long time. So yeah, but it's a long.
- 29:01But it's not like do your makeup while you're doing it.
- 29:03You're sort of going beyond that because when you're doing your
- 29:06makeup, you're sort of you're you're sort of bettering
- 29:08yourself. But when you're looking in the
- 29:12mirror and you're looking into your eyes, you're usually
- 29:16looking into one eye. Is that right?
- 29:18And then you're, you're seeing yourself for who you really are.
- 29:23So it's not about, oh, I'm going to cover up that freckle or oh,
- 29:27I'm going to put some, you know, mascara on my eyes.
- 29:30It's, it's a depth of the way that you look and having that
- 29:36person. It's amazing when someone is
- 29:38standing with you, actually how you see yourself differently.
- 29:43You, you suddenly see yourself as that person and then you're
- 29:48encouraging for that gratitude, which runs into the gratitude
- 29:53that you are also talking about, you know, journaling like you
- 29:58talked about how you mastered. And I know that a lot of
- 30:03personal development coaches talk about this, but maybe we
- 30:07can go into a little bit more detail.
- 30:09So you're talking about looking into the mirror, looking into
- 30:13your eyes, perhaps concentrating on one eye and expressing what
- 30:20you love about that person and what that deep appreciation is.
- 30:25So then would you suggest to write that down afterwards or
- 30:30how would you propose to people to do that?
- 30:35Because it's a lot got to take in and it can be very emotional.
- 30:40And I've had women cry because, you know, sometimes the words
- 30:45that they come out with is I actually love the person in
- 30:50front of me. And that is the important thing
- 30:52because we need to get to that stage where they're loving who's
- 30:55in front. I also believe that writing it
- 30:59down is clearing it. You're getting it out of your
- 31:03system and you get it in down on paper and you just write.
- 31:06You don't need to think about the full start, the full
- 31:09sentences or anything. It's just a case of saying,
- 31:14right, tell me how you feel, and then just write and just keep
- 31:18writing. And it's given the time to do
- 31:21that and just keep writing. No faults.
- 31:25Just get it out of your head. Yes, yes.
- 31:29It's just a. Double.
- 31:31It's a double method that comes out because you're seeing it.
- 31:36You might be crying with it, you're really feeling it, but
- 31:40then you're writing it down because then it's out of your
- 31:43head. It's something you could
- 31:45actually look at later as well. You can read through how you
- 31:49actually felt about seeing yourself.
- 31:52So it's almost like you're downloading, isn't it?
- 31:54You're, you're literally downloading.
- 31:56So you're, you're getting it from whatever's in your head.
- 32:01And I often say, look, do this if you can't sleep at night, get
- 32:05it all down on paper. Just put every thought down and
- 32:09let it come out. Because what happens is you are
- 32:13literally freeing up space in your head.
- 32:16You are literally expanding your consciousness by doing this.
- 32:22But I'm going to draw on the part that I am really, really
- 32:28looking forward to, which is the inner child cave visualisation.
- 32:34But before we go into that, I'm going to talk about picture work
- 32:40and get you to go into a little bit of detail about what is
- 32:46picture work. Yeah.
- 32:49So with picture work, I get a client to, say, gather 20
- 32:54pictures of themselves where they're actually smiling in the
- 32:59picture. And the picture is from the age
- 33:02of four to five to where they are now.
- 33:06And what I get them to do is explain what was happening at
- 33:10that time. Now, some people might not have
- 33:13many pictures where they're actually smiling or appear
- 33:16happy, and this helps them to sort of rediscover what was
- 33:20happening at that time. So for instance, you might have
- 33:23a picture of you and your parents and you're smiling,
- 33:26you're happy. It might be a birthday party,
- 33:28you're smiling or happy. And I want you to get back into
- 33:32those memories so that you understand what made you happy.
- 33:37Why were you smiling in the pictures?
- 33:41Now, I've had a client before that didn't really have any
- 33:44pictures until near the end, you know, later in life.
- 33:48And she had that picture, but she could explain to me why
- 33:52she's smiling then and why she wasn't smiling all this time.
- 33:56And it made her think of the things that was going on in her
- 33:58life. Ultimately I I get them to
- 34:02choose a picture of themself. Probably.
- 34:05About, you know, 6 or 7 where they're smiling and frame the
- 34:10picture and keep it beside themselves because then they can
- 34:15look at that inner child. They can look at that child
- 34:19picture. I've got one myself.
- 34:26And it was funny because I didn't like taking the pictures
- 34:30of myself. And, you know, yeah, I'll jump
- 34:33in a camera, but I didn't like to see the result.
- 34:35And that particular picture I would never display.
- 34:40And I did this myself. I would never display that
- 34:42picture. Now I have this picture framed
- 34:45and on my desk, and I see it every day.
- 34:48And it's a reminder of that child who's smiling that had the
- 34:53world at her feet, wanted so much.
- 34:57And it brings it back to you. It lifts you.
- 35:00So that exploration of the pictures shows the journey that
- 35:04you've been going on, Those happy moments.
- 35:08And if we could embrace those happy moments because like I
- 35:11said, we sometimes take our lives for granted.
- 35:14We forget about these things. But if we can bring those happy
- 35:18moments into the presence, we can see what made us happy, and
- 35:23then maybe we can take what made us happy forward.
- 35:27So it's important you know, a little bit of picture work.
- 35:31That is absolutely amazing guys. If you are wanting to really tap
- 35:38inside yourself and get your sexy back, you can get in
- 35:43contact with this beautiful lady.
- 35:46You can get in contact with Valerie.
- 35:47You'll see in the show notes. Now imagine you are collating
- 35:52these pictures and what these pictures are about is it is
- 35:58exploring those happy moments that are anchoring something
- 36:04very, very powerful into your muscle.
- 36:07Now what we're going to do next is a meditation, a closed eye
- 36:13meditation, going back to your inner child and going back and
- 36:18giving that inner child the wisdom.
- 36:21And imagine if you could go back in time and change the future.
- 36:27So if you are driving, maybe you would like to pause this and
- 36:31come back to it after. But let's get ready for our
- 36:35closed eye visualisation. OK, So I'm going to hand over to
- 36:42you, Valerie, for this. And if you'd like to preface it
- 36:46like, so let's say I'm your client and I'm here and I'm
- 36:53obviously wanting to perhaps step out of some of the
- 36:58limitations that's going on in my life.
- 37:01And I understand that a lot of the, I guess the Achilles heels,
- 37:07the negative triggers that are popping up really, not just
- 37:14really around what's going on in the here and now, but what has
- 37:18come from my inner child. So I guess we all have something
- 37:24that we really want to try and conquer.
- 37:27So maybe you could preface that a little bit better or expand on
- 37:31that and I'm going to hand over to you.
- 37:35So if you think that when you go back into your childhood and you
- 37:39think about maybe a happy moment and you want to go back to that
- 37:45happy moment, that child had expectations, that child was
- 37:50free, That child wanted something a lot more.
- 37:54And this is an opportunity to talk to your inner child to see
- 37:58where you are now, you know, and have you helped that inner
- 38:03child, you know, have you achieved what that inner child
- 38:06wanted? So this isn't about blame or
- 38:10anything or negativity. This is just a chat with your
- 38:13inner child to see where you are now.
- 38:16So if you're ready, it's just about taking a bit of relaxation
- 38:22and just stepping into meeting your inner child.
- 38:26So when we start off, I would like you to close your eyes,
- 38:32take a deep breath and breathe out.
- 38:39And I want you to feel relaxed and calm.
- 38:44You're in a safe environment. You're relaxed and calm.
- 38:52Now the position that you're going to be in is you're going
- 38:55to be entering a forest and you're going to feel what the
- 39:00forest is like, feel what's beneath your feet.
- 39:03Listen to the sounds, the smells.
- 39:08Think about what you can hear. Is it the birds singing?
- 39:13Is it the wind rustling through the trees?
- 39:16And you feel the crunch of the grass?
- 39:20What's underneath you? Twigs.
- 39:23And as you're walking through the forest, you see a cave ahead
- 39:28of you. It's a dark cave, but it's safe.
- 39:35You enter The Cave, listening, hearing the sounds.
- 39:43You can hear some water when you're approaching The Cave,
- 39:50breathe in and smell the damp hair of the cage you enter.
- 40:01It becomes dark, you look it damp, and as you're moving
- 40:07forward you're stepping with surety each footstep you feel.
- 40:16A pull, A pull towards something or someone inside.
- 40:24You are relaxed. You can feel that pull, the
- 40:29wanting, the urge, and you know you're about to meet your inner
- 40:36child. Now walk slowly, keep entering,
- 40:46keep exploring, look around. What do you see?
- 40:53Get that picture. Can you see what's in front of
- 40:57you? You're moving into The Cave.
- 41:02It appears dark at 1st and as you enter notice there's a
- 41:09little gap at the top bringing in a little light and as you
- 41:16look up and then you follow the light down you see a child about
- 41:246 or 7 and you realise that child is you.
- 41:33She turns to you and she welcomes you.
- 41:38She says hi, I'm you. She reaches out and you take her
- 41:46hand. You feel the contact.
- 41:52It's warm, it's welcoming, and she leads you further into The
- 41:59Cave. This is your opportunity to ask
- 42:06questions, to ask questions to your inner child.
- 42:13Am I doing what you wanted to me to do?
- 42:18How do you feel about what we've done?
- 42:23Are you happy You're asking these questions because you want
- 42:28to know the answers? And she's playful.
- 42:33She's skipping along. It lifts you.
- 42:36You'll start feeling playful yourself.
- 42:40She answers your questions, She tells you what you want to know.
- 42:48Listen to the answers, remember the answers.
- 42:56And as she takes you further into The Cave, you're skipping,
- 43:02you're laughing. You can hear her voice as she's
- 43:06playing. She's reminding you of the
- 43:09playful things that you used to do, all the joy that you had and
- 43:17the fun times that you experience.
- 43:21She looks at you and she tells you I love you, you are me and I
- 43:32am you. You are doing well.
- 43:39She then leads you further in and shows you a mirror and she
- 43:46says look in the mirror. Who do you sing?
- 43:52And as you look in the mirror you see your 80 year old self
- 43:59and your 80 year old self stares back at you.
- 44:03She looks happy, she looks peaceful.
- 44:07She looks full of joy. Because she is, because that is
- 44:14who you are. Your inner child says, remember,
- 44:21this is you become you. Then she takes you away from
- 44:28that mirror and leads you back towards the entrance.
- 44:36She says I'm going to let you go now, but I am always here.
- 44:42You can always come back. Just remember you and I and I
- 44:50and you and I love you and you are doing well.
- 44:56You thank your inner child. And then you step out of The
- 45:01Cave and into the light. And as you walk down the path
- 45:09out of the forest, you remember what she said.
- 45:14You remember it and you take it forward because you know your 80
- 45:21year old self is waiting. Breathe in and breathe out and
- 45:35again breathe in and breathe out, and in your own time, open
- 45:44your eyes. Oh, wow, that was so
- 45:52spectacular. My gosh, I love that.
- 45:56And what I'm going to say, what I'm going to say to all the
- 46:00listeners out there, is that you want to share this and you want
- 46:06to keep this and save this because whenever you need it,
- 46:11you can come back to that. Because that was a very
- 46:15generous, powerful piece. And I myself feel so good I
- 46:22nearly fell asleep. I will tell you, I thought, hang
- 46:25on a minute, I'm meant to be the show host here, so.
- 46:28And I can tell you because of the work that I do as a trainer,
- 46:33the inner child on one side and the older person, the 80 year
- 46:39old on the other is very powerful.
- 46:42That is a very, very powerful metaphor right there because you
- 46:47are just bridging that gap. And it's it's also taking you
- 46:53out of whatever is confining and restricting you, but it's not
- 46:59only giving you wisdom, but it's also giving you the ability to
- 47:03heal yourself. So I just want to thank you so
- 47:06much, Valerie. But it wouldn't be fair for me
- 47:08to say, even though you've shared so much, is there
- 47:13anything you would want to say to your client, that person who
- 47:18is absolutely praying for your service?
- 47:22What would be your last words to them?
- 47:25Words of encouragement? I would say look into the
- 47:31mirror, look into your eyes and tell yourself it's time for me
- 47:38and that means being self full, putting yourself first.
- 47:46Well, boom. Amen.
- 47:49Thank you so much and thank you for listening to the show.
- 47:52And I am so grateful for everything you have just brought
- 47:58to our listeners and to Terry Messenger's genius.
- 48:02Sorry, my pleasure.
