- 1:14Speaker 2: it's too bad, but what did you expect. It's a
- 1:18Speaker 2: podcast called twenty five Whistles.
- 1:21Speaker 3: Twin line, Win.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Baker, Welcome to the show, everybody. A couple of things.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Let me ask you this question. I was watching last
- 1:31Speaker 1: week whenever I guess it was Monday night whenever Mahomes
- 1:34Speaker 1: and Baker Mayfield were it's fifty yard line doing the
- 1:36Speaker 1: coin toss and they flipped the coin. They go to overtime,
- 1:39Speaker 1: Chiefs into play in the game. But you see as
- 1:41Speaker 1: soon as the coin toss lands, it was it was funny.
- 1:44Speaker 1: He was Baker Mayfield being Baker. He just reacts like well,
- 1:48Speaker 1: game over, game over. Mahomes just won the toss, like
- 1:51Speaker 1: really funny. Nobody was hating on him for it because
- 1:54Speaker 1: it's arguably the second greatest quarterback of all time with
- 1:57Speaker 1: the chance to be the greatest quarterback of all time.
- 2:01Speaker 1: Who let's remove Mahomes because I already have my two
- 2:04Speaker 1: answers written down and I don't want to affect anybody's answer.
- 2:08Speaker 1: Who would be your second? And you have to put
- 2:11Speaker 1: them both down and we'll go down there to second
- 2:14Speaker 1: and your third quarterbacks. Mahomes is number one. I'm assuming
- 2:16Speaker 1: in everybody's mind, if you get one quarterback active, who
- 2:20Speaker 1: would be your second? And then who would be your
- 2:22Speaker 1: third quarterback? And that's one drive to go down and
- 2:27Speaker 1: win the game.
- 2:28Speaker 4: In the current NFL.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Right, we're not talking about yeah, ok, yes, guys, just
- 2:37Speaker 3: checking both checking the rules currently.
- 2:42Speaker 4: There, we got there, we got who.
- 2:44Speaker 1: Would be I want to know who your second and
- 2:47Speaker 1: your third would be, and let me know when everybody's in,
- 2:50Speaker 1: because again I don't anybody judgment to be affected. I
- 2:56Speaker 1: will go first. My We'll just say number one after
- 2:58Speaker 1: Mahomes is going to be Joe Burrow. So I go
- 3:02Speaker 1: Joe Burrow number one. He has stared down the eyes
- 3:06Speaker 1: of Patrick Mahomes and beaten him before. He's the one
- 3:08Speaker 1: guy who has in the playoffs, and so I'm gonna
- 3:11Speaker 1: go Joe Burrow because I feel like, as it used
- 3:16Speaker 1: to be read, it's Eddie now in the Goldfish. You know,
- 3:18Speaker 1: it'd be like somebody has that dog in him when
- 3:21Speaker 1: they don't they have the goldfish. But Joe Burrow's got
- 3:22Speaker 1: that dog in him. Yeah, Like he has the amount
- 3:26Speaker 1: of arrogance you need to believe in yourself, even when
- 3:30Speaker 1: it's not rational. So I'm going Joe freaking Burrow as
- 3:33Speaker 1: my my number one pick after mahomes Kevin, I'm.
- 3:36Speaker 5: Gonna go Stafford. I thought about this and first that
- 3:40Speaker 5: popped in my head was Joe Burrow, and then I'm like, actually,
- 3:42Speaker 5: let's keep thinking. Keep thinking. In the Stafford you kind
- 3:44Speaker 5: of forget about him.
- 3:44Speaker 1: Why Matthew Stafford.
- 3:46Speaker 5: Because he has thirty six fourth quarter comebacks and forty six.
- 3:51Speaker 3: Yeah its information. Yah, I don't do that.
- 3:54Speaker 1: I didn't mean to interrupt. I was just blown away
- 3:56Speaker 1: used the stat and not just idiotsy like we do.
- 3:58Speaker 1: That'sime of the word. It's idiocy. Yes, go ahead.
- 4:01Speaker 5: So thirty six fourth quarter comebacks and forty six game
- 4:03Speaker 5: winning drives in his career and that's why. And he
- 4:06Speaker 5: was with the line for how long? And he has
- 4:07Speaker 5: all those numbers come up.
- 4:08Speaker 1: That's the only way he won though. What's coming back? Yeah? Everything? Yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 1: that's why so bad. I know, Okay, I'll accept it, Eddie.
- 4:16Speaker 3: This pains me. But my first one is Lamar Jackson.
- 4:18Speaker 3: That was fine.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I mean, no, no, no, we only get one. We're
- 4:21Speaker 1: doing the first one. What do you mean, first one?
- 4:23Speaker 3: Yeah, my first pick? Right, you said the one and two? Lamar,
- 4:28Speaker 3: Lamar is my dude, Lamars Yeah, yeah, yeah, you said
- 4:31Speaker 3: you're like, you're first.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Did anybody else must understand?
- 4:34Speaker 4: I think I think I got it.
- 4:35Speaker 1: Okay, but you're also working computer screens and so.
- 4:38Speaker 2: I know.
- 4:41Speaker 1: I want to give you the benefit of that.
- 4:42Speaker 6: But you didn't say that.
- 4:43Speaker 1: So how am I to know? Because I have Lamar Jackson.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Don't say anybody else. We only only get one. This
- 4:48Speaker 1: is your first one, so who is it?
- 4:50Speaker 3: My first is Lamar Jackson.
- 4:51Speaker 1: Okay, there you go, there we go. We're coming back.
- 4:53Speaker 1: We'll get you one. We'll get we'll get to your
- 4:55Speaker 1: other one.
- 4:55Speaker 3: But I want to stats. Let me get the stats down.
- 4:58Speaker 1: I have no stats, and you can always say hey, sorry,
- 5:02Speaker 1: I wasn't able to listen for the last few seconds.
- 5:04Speaker 1: I was sticking the camera then we won't all look
- 5:06Speaker 1: at you like EDI's talking a different language right now.
- 5:08Speaker 3: Okay, Okay, Lamar Jackson is my dude.
- 5:10Speaker 1: Okay, why so?
- 5:12Speaker 3: I mean he's got legs, Like I feel like you
- 5:14Speaker 3: need legs when you're its last drive and you're gonna score,
- 5:18Speaker 3: you got everything. If when your guys are all covered,
- 5:21Speaker 3: you got nothing, you got legs. Give me Lamar Jackson.
- 5:24Speaker 1: He's got he's easy top. Yeah, he's got legs. Yes, Casey,
- 5:30Speaker 1: I gotta go with Josh Allen.
- 5:32Speaker 7: I know he's had some struggles with Mahomes, but I
- 5:33Speaker 7: feel like that thirteen second game that was before the
- 5:36Speaker 7: change and the playoff rules there actually the one that.
- 5:38Speaker 1: Yeah, so I got to go with Josh Allen.
- 5:40Speaker 4: I think he's gonna do it one of these days.
- 5:42Speaker 1: I think any of these are bad read I'm gonna go.
- 5:44Speaker 1: Will Levis joking. I'm joking. I'm joking, dude, I wish
- 5:47Speaker 1: you would just committed.
- 5:50Speaker 2: Dude.
- 5:50Speaker 1: Why, I saw him down at the Chipotle like Mayo, No,
- 5:54Speaker 1: I was also Josh Allen. He's got like fifteen rush
- 5:57Speaker 1: tds right, yeah, he's like five hundred something yours. Okay,
- 6:01Speaker 1: I got with some legs.
- 6:02Speaker 8: Legs.
- 6:02Speaker 1: You know, so there's one good good, good. We're all
- 6:04Speaker 1: in the game.
- 6:05Speaker 5: We're all in on the game now, right, Yeah, we're good.
- 6:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 6:06Speaker 1: Okay, so I made you pick two, so but they
- 6:08Speaker 1: were in order one and two. Kevin, I'll go to
- 6:11Speaker 1: you first before I give mine. Who was your second one?
- 6:12Speaker 5: Second one was your first?
- 6:13Speaker 1: Joe Burrow, He's no, my second one was your first.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford. Oh, for the same reason, and I was
- 6:19Speaker 1: a pressure went to stats because I wanted to know
- 6:20Speaker 1: who had the most fourth quarter comebacks. Stafford's also he can,
- 6:25Speaker 1: he can slanging. Still, He's played a lot, so it's
- 6:29Speaker 1: not gonna rattle them like he's the thing. He's thirty
- 6:32Speaker 1: six years old. Yeah right, I looked that up. I
- 6:34Speaker 1: looked up some stuff, so I feel pretty good. So, okay,
- 6:37Speaker 1: so we're just inverted. I'm Burrow Stafford, you're Stafford Borough. Interesting, Okay, Okay, Eddie.
- 6:43Speaker 1: Now we're gonna do a game where we do a
- 6:44Speaker 1: second quarterback. Yeah, who do you have?
- 6:47Speaker 3: I got him?
- 6:48Speaker 1: This is tough to say. Say dk it's not da.
- 6:50Speaker 3: It's not Dak Prescott. I'm gonna go rock Ferdy.
- 6:53Speaker 8: Oh.
- 6:55Speaker 3: I feel like he is just He's just solid, Like
- 7:00Speaker 3: when everything's clicking, he is solid, and that's what you want.
- 7:03Speaker 3: He's composed, he's smart, he's underrated, and he'll prove you wrong.
- 7:08Speaker 3: He proves me wrong all the time. I'm gonna have
- 7:10Speaker 3: to say, brock Party.
- 7:12Speaker 1: I think brock Party is a guy who doesn't make
- 7:16Speaker 1: a lot of wrong decisions. And I think that is
- 7:20Speaker 1: a smart element of what you're saying there. Like there
- 7:23Speaker 1: are some guys like a Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Matthew Stafford,
- 7:27Speaker 1: they will at times, because they're so aggressive, make a
- 7:30Speaker 1: wrong decision out of aggression. That's what you love about him.
- 7:32Speaker 1: Think about brock Party was he doesn't make a lot
- 7:34Speaker 1: of wrong decisions, and I think that's very important. Hey Eddie,
- 7:37Speaker 1: great job, buddy.
- 7:38Speaker 3: Thank you. I did not want to pick a forty
- 7:40Speaker 3: nine er, but.
- 7:41Speaker 5: He didn't do it last year in the Super Bowl though, correct, Wow,
- 7:43Speaker 5: he did not?
- 7:43Speaker 3: He fell short?
- 7:46Speaker 1: Did he fall short?
- 7:48Speaker 5: I remember they it was third down and goal. He
- 7:51Speaker 5: dided the field goal, and then the chief the ball
- 7:54Speaker 5: wasn't him.
- 7:54Speaker 4: That was Jones, right, Christian's going up the middle.
- 7:56Speaker 5: I'm just.
- 7:58Speaker 1: You, guys, thought, I'm not I'm not arguing I don't
- 8:01Speaker 1: care enough, but I okay, hey, everybody wins, casey.
- 8:05Speaker 7: I had Joe Burrow as my third option, but just
- 8:07Speaker 7: to give him a little love, I'm gonna say Jalen
- 8:09Speaker 7: hurts because he almost had my homes on the ropes
- 8:11Speaker 7: in that one Super Bowl, which was pretty solid. So push, push,
- 8:15Speaker 7: I don't know, I'll give you, and.
- 8:19Speaker 1: I also sorry ahead. I love a good underdog, you know. Yeah, yeah,
- 8:26Speaker 1: he just seems like a really smart dude.
- 8:27Speaker 8: You know.
- 8:28Speaker 9: Put the put good people around him. He's gonna do
- 8:30Speaker 9: a good job.
- 8:30Speaker 2: Man.
- 8:30Speaker 9: I loved him.
- 8:31Speaker 1: Underdogs me too, put good people on me. I do
- 8:33Speaker 1: a good job too.
- 8:35Speaker 3: That's why I'm doing Oh yeah, man, come on.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Okay, I'm just kidding. Okay, I only got like four
- 8:41Speaker 1: things I want to talk about here. The second one
- 8:44Speaker 1: to start off is I I find myself doing something
- 8:47Speaker 1: that I I don't think I've ever done in my
- 8:50Speaker 1: entire life, and that is I am now rooting for Alabama.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And it's not because I'm rooting for them because they're
- 9:00Speaker 1: I like red teams, natural because Arkansas's red and my
- 9:02Speaker 1: color I'm colorblind, I'm generally drawn to red teams. There's
- 9:06Speaker 1: really nobody on their team that I've that that like,
- 9:08Speaker 1: I'm in love with as a player. I think what
- 9:11Speaker 1: I like is that I like when everybody jumps on
- 9:16Speaker 1: the they suck now bandwagon and like Kaylen Debora is awesome.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He's an awesome coach. And the fact that already a
- 9:23Speaker 1: couple losses are like, get him out of there. He
- 9:25Speaker 1: wears a T shirt, like people are so stupid that
- 9:28Speaker 1: I find myself rooting for Alabama just to shut stupid
- 9:30Speaker 1: people up. Because of all the coaches in the country, Like,
- 9:34Speaker 1: I think that was the number one home run higher,
- 9:37Speaker 1: Nobody's actually going to replace Nick Saban until years and
- 9:41Speaker 1: years later they replaced Nick Saban, and that's only once
- 9:43Speaker 1: they win more championships than he does. But nobody was
- 9:46Speaker 1: gonna replace Bear Bryant or Jane Stallings or you go
- 9:49Speaker 1: through the Alabama coaches until Nick Saban did. So I
- 9:53Speaker 1: find myself and it is so weird rooting for Alabama
- 9:55Speaker 1: because they should. They are not an underdog in any way,
- 9:57Speaker 1: except they kind of are now. They got a couple
- 10:00Speaker 1: let's to see losses. They lost to Vanderbilt that first game,
- 10:02Speaker 1: and I'm happy Vanderbilt one was not rooting for them
- 10:04Speaker 1: in that game. But I find myself rooting for Alabama
- 10:07Speaker 1: and I've never done it. And I'm rooting for Kaylin
- 10:09Speaker 1: de Boor and don't know him, never met him, we never,
- 10:13Speaker 1: we never went up to Washington, we never, we haven't
- 10:15Speaker 1: been down to Alabama. But I feel like I'm questioning
- 10:18Speaker 1: who I am as a person because I've hated Alabama.
- 10:22Speaker 1: Now I hated like personal because they're not a rival.
- 10:24Speaker 1: They usually kick the crap out of us being an
- 10:26Speaker 1: Arkansas fan. But I hated them because they just went
- 10:29Speaker 1: all the time, and I hate teams that went all
- 10:30Speaker 1: the time.
- 10:30Speaker 5: Is it hard to say that out loud?
- 10:32Speaker 1: No, it's not, because a lot of people are anti
- 10:35Speaker 1: Alabama and they're not giving them a shot. So like,
- 10:37Speaker 1: I'm in, like, let's go of the teams that are
- 10:39Speaker 1: in it. Like I'm in, I want Alabama to win
- 10:41Speaker 1: the whole freaking thing. You don't know, do you have
- 10:46Speaker 1: a more positive feeling of Alabama because everyone is so
- 10:50Speaker 1: negative on Alabama.
- 10:51Speaker 5: I'm with you on that in the sense of, like
- 10:53Speaker 5: anytime people gang up on one team or one person,
- 10:55Speaker 5: I'm always like, you know what, I'm rooting for that
- 10:57Speaker 5: person or that team now. But for Alabama, I can't
- 10:59Speaker 5: just maybe it's because they've been so good for so long.
- 11:02Speaker 5: I can't feel bad for them so.
- 11:04Speaker 1: Bad for canad de Bor, Yeah, dude, because he was
- 11:07Speaker 1: and he just moved in, like you just got to
- 11:09Speaker 1: the neighborhood, finally got his mail but name on his mailbox. Yeah, yeah,
- 11:12Speaker 1: well it's a couple. He didn't know how to get
- 11:13Speaker 1: to the Starbucks yet. And the environment is different, Like
- 11:17Speaker 1: he's going into an entirely new environment. Not just Tuscaloosa,
- 11:21Speaker 1: I'm talking about college football in general, where the reason
- 11:25Speaker 1: that Saban left is probably why Debor and some of
- 11:28Speaker 1: these other legacy are struggling. Yeah, things just aren't the
- 11:32Speaker 1: same anymore, nor will they ever be the same. And
- 11:33Speaker 1: that's why Sabin was like, I'm done. I'm not doing
- 11:36Speaker 1: this like this anymore.
- 11:37Speaker 5: Even Chip Kelly is like, I'm gonna go asistant to
- 11:40Speaker 5: be the OC.
- 11:40Speaker 1: Yeah, it's why. Look at Virginia, they head basketball coach.
- 11:43Speaker 1: He left like two weeks before the season started. However,
- 11:45Speaker 1: shout out to him because he did the most baller
- 11:47Speaker 1: thing he could possibly do for your boys. You know what,
- 11:50Speaker 1: You know, he knew he was going to leave and
- 11:51Speaker 1: I don't. I don't have any first information. You knew
- 11:54Speaker 1: he was going to leave anyway at the last minute.
- 11:56Speaker 1: So like his boy, his assistant coach get the head
- 11:58Speaker 1: coaching job. Like that's what you do, and you give
- 12:00Speaker 1: them time to go hire a head coach. That's a
- 12:01Speaker 1: real one. That's that's a real one right there. It's
- 12:03Speaker 1: immediately what I thought when I saw this, because he
- 12:05Speaker 1: didn't wake up that day and go yeah, I'm out. Yeah,
- 12:10Speaker 1: he knew was coming and he was looking out for
- 12:13Speaker 1: his boys, and I appreciate that. That's why our show
- 12:16Speaker 1: starts at five am, right you coul six East East
- 12:19Speaker 1: Coast on by bun Show Markets. That's why four fifty
- 12:22Speaker 1: nine one morning, I'm gonna quit, Eddie, It's gonna be yours.
- 12:24Speaker 3: WHOA about.
- 12:28Speaker 1: Ten seconds so show goes on, guys, I'm out, Hi,
- 12:33Speaker 1: what's up.
- 12:35Speaker 3: This thing on?
- 12:37Speaker 6: Now?
- 12:37Speaker 1: Speaking of the playoff bracket, and I can run you
- 12:41Speaker 1: through the teams. And this is not the official because
- 12:43Speaker 1: it is not the end of the season, but they
- 12:44Speaker 1: did put out the very first what would happen? This
- 12:47Speaker 1: would be the bracket if it existed today. Who's the
- 12:50Speaker 1: most annoying team on the bracket and I'll read them
- 12:52Speaker 1: to you and you can have any criteria you want.
- 12:55Speaker 1: But what team do you see? It could be long long,
- 12:57Speaker 1: it could be long hate, short hate. It could be
- 13:00Speaker 1: irrational hate. But I want to know you can wipe
- 13:03Speaker 1: one team off the bracket, even if they're really good
- 13:06Speaker 1: or they don't deserve to be there. There are no rules.
- 13:09Speaker 1: Who do you cut from this bracket? Here we go
- 13:11Speaker 1: at number one, Oregon, number two, Georgia, number three, Miami,
- 13:14Speaker 1: number four, b YU. Those will be the four teams
- 13:16Speaker 1: today that will be getting a bye to the second round.
- 13:19Speaker 1: At number five, Ohio State at six, Texas at seven,
- 13:22Speaker 1: Penn State at eight, Tennessee nine, Indiana ten, Notre Dame eleven,
- 13:26Speaker 1: Alabama twelve, Boise State, Casey, your first eliminate one team
- 13:33Speaker 1: out of spite and spite along.
- 13:36Speaker 4: It's very easy for me. It's gonna be b YU.
- 13:38Speaker 4: Because Wilson.
- 13:42Speaker 1: I thought about to have a religion war. I know,
- 13:44Speaker 1: I was like, you know, a couple more friends.
- 13:48Speaker 7: For another show. But yeah, I mean that's interesting. That
- 13:51Speaker 7: jumps out Jet my jet hate my Wow, you love
- 13:55Speaker 7: the Jets so much you hate a quarterback? That sets
- 13:57Speaker 7: your program back a couple of years. Yeah, I guess
- 14:00Speaker 7: gonna be college. That set your organization back a couple
- 14:03Speaker 7: of guys.
- 14:04Speaker 4: It's rooting in some logic. I guess, Okay, Okay, that's
- 14:07Speaker 4: that's mine.
- 14:08Speaker 1: There's no I love it, there's no lot that's pretty good.
- 14:10Speaker 1: That's just pure emotions, Kevin.
- 14:15Speaker 5: Mine's gonna be Miami only because they just keep barely.
- 14:19Speaker 5: I mean, I know they beat Duke by twenty plus points,
- 14:22Speaker 5: but they're just hanging around, hanging around, and it's just like,
- 14:24Speaker 5: go away, like you're gonna lose at some point. Just
- 14:26Speaker 5: do it now, please.
- 14:27Speaker 1: They're so annoying and they're getting a bye because the
- 14:29Speaker 1: a SEC sucks so bad. Please sm you beat them
- 14:32Speaker 1: or something in the championship. It sucks. I hate Miami too,
- 14:36Speaker 1: only because they a couple of those games. I feel
- 14:39Speaker 1: like they should have lost. But I don't hate as
- 14:42Speaker 1: much of Texas. I would eliminate Texas from playing sports
- 14:46Speaker 1: all of them. I would just say, hey, Texas, you
- 14:49Speaker 1: know you now. So where I grew up in Central Arkansas,
- 14:53Speaker 1: there were some schools that they said, Okay, well this
- 14:56Speaker 1: school is not being a successful institution in education and sports.
- 15:01Speaker 1: So they took like three or four schools and they
- 15:03Speaker 1: made one school out of them. So there was a
- 15:06Speaker 1: school called glen Wood, and there's another couple of small
- 15:08Speaker 1: and they have it's now called center Point of all
- 15:10Speaker 1: those schools. With Texas, I would do the opposite. I
- 15:12Speaker 1: would split it all up, make them go to other schools.
- 15:14Speaker 1: I'll be like, you got A and m you go
- 15:16Speaker 1: to tech, you got and no more Texas. Just totally
- 15:18Speaker 1: get way too much money, you do. There's too much
- 15:21Speaker 1: success here. We don't like this. You have to do
- 15:23Speaker 1: Texas would go. I would wipe them off, and we
- 15:26Speaker 1: would never As a matter of fact, there never was
- 15:27Speaker 1: a Texas Oh the whole state. No, there's never a
- 15:33Speaker 1: University of Texas. There so much so someone would go,
- 15:36Speaker 1: why don't we just start at University of Texas here
- 15:37Speaker 1: in Austin. I'd be like to go for it because
- 15:40Speaker 1: there would be no rememberance of interesting. I would wipe
- 15:42Speaker 1: them off for the map, respectfully, of course. Respect Hey Mike,
- 15:45Speaker 1: you going to the game? Yeah, I'm going Texas Florida. Yeah,
- 15:49Speaker 1: that'd be fun. That'd be fun. Like I hate Texas,
- 15:52Speaker 1: but it'd be fun to be a Texas fan because
- 15:53Speaker 1: they have such an original color and they win.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Is Texas yours? What do you mean is that your?
- 16:00Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, I feel like it's double checking. We should
- 16:04Speaker 1: have You know how when I have a state places Michigan,
- 16:08Speaker 1: they always block out the M or they don't say it,
- 16:10Speaker 1: you know, they have all these things. I feel like
- 16:12Speaker 1: we should do that with Texas in general, or just
- 16:14Speaker 1: the letter T. We will say a single word. Mine's
- 16:17Speaker 1: all just so jealous and jealousy coming from a broke
- 16:20Speaker 1: state that doesn't win and we see rich big brother
- 16:23Speaker 1: Texas just dominating with like a cool color. I think
- 16:25Speaker 1: our color is cooler because I love red, but like
- 16:28Speaker 1: Tennessee and Texas have an original color that's pretty cool
- 16:32Speaker 1: to have, like like it.
- 16:33Speaker 5: Do you put Miami's orange in that same category?
- 16:36Speaker 1: No, I can't see the difference as why I think so. No,
- 16:41Speaker 1: But not because I'm a hater on it, because I
- 16:43Speaker 1: don't think I see the difference because to me, I
- 16:44Speaker 1: think it looks the same as other oranges. Burnt orange
- 16:49Speaker 1: in Texas does not look like any other orange to me. Yeah,
- 16:51Speaker 1: and Tennessee orange suck of orange orange like the vall
- 16:55Speaker 1: orange that is that's different.
- 16:58Speaker 3: What's the name of that orange?
- 16:59Speaker 1: Suckle orange, suck orange. Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay,
- 17:04Speaker 1: so I'm wiping Texas off. Kevin, you said Miami Eddie,
- 17:07Speaker 1: you said, I'm.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Going to Ohio State. I feel that I'm going to
- 17:10Speaker 3: Ohio State.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Like, who likes Ohio State?
- 17:12Speaker 3: I really don't think they're that good and justice for Army.
- 17:15Speaker 3: I think Army should be in that spot. They're undefeated.
- 17:18Speaker 3: Put Army in there instead of Ohio State.
- 17:20Speaker 1: If I think if Army, well, okay, let me say
- 17:24Speaker 1: a couple of things Ohio State should be in. I
- 17:27Speaker 1: don't think that Army has to have that spot specifically. Well,
- 17:30Speaker 1: but I hear what. It's just my dream getting your point. No,
- 17:32Speaker 1: I hear you. I hate I hate Ohio State the
- 17:35Speaker 1: reason Kevin hates Alabama. I don't actually hate Ohio State.
- 17:38Speaker 1: I just hate that they always win and get the
- 17:39Speaker 1: benefit of the doubt. Yes, I have no problem like emotionally,
- 17:43Speaker 1: I am not like an anti Ohio State guy. I
- 17:45Speaker 1: actually like the Big Ten.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Do you know anyone that loves Ohio State like personally?
- 17:51Speaker 4: I don't.
- 17:51Speaker 1: Yes, I do, Yeah, Oh of course, yeah, Gary love
- 17:53Speaker 1: o Rascal flats massive Ohio State.
- 17:55Speaker 3: Oh I didn't think about him yeah, I don't know.
- 17:56Speaker 3: I didn't know he's a big fan. But like I
- 17:59Speaker 3: think of my close circle of friends, we got Texas fans,
- 18:02Speaker 3: we got Arkansas.
- 18:03Speaker 1: Fans born in Texas. Your regional it's region.
- 18:05Speaker 3: Yeah, but I live in Tennessee. Now, I got a
- 18:06Speaker 3: big Valls fan over here in Kevin read Arkansas State.
- 18:13Speaker 4: Yeah, let's go.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Maybe I think I went to the games, two.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Games Syracuse, Casey. You know, but no one likes Ohio
- 18:21Speaker 3: State in my circle of friends.
- 18:23Speaker 1: So but what does that say?
- 18:24Speaker 3: I just get him out of there, get him.
- 18:26Speaker 9: Out of there.
- 18:26Speaker 1: Yeah, No, Ohio State is a jealousy hatred. They spent
- 18:32Speaker 1: the most money. Although I will say this, and I
- 18:34Speaker 1: don't hate Ohio State, but I hate Ohio State because
- 18:37Speaker 1: they get the benefit of the doubt. But I don't
- 18:38Speaker 1: hate Ohio State. You don't hate no. And I'm heck
- 18:41Speaker 1: I kind of rooting for Ryan Day because everybody hates
- 18:43Speaker 1: against him, hates on them. But this is my issue now,
- 18:49Speaker 1: is that I watched an Arkansas basketball game. We're taping
- 18:52Speaker 1: this on Thursday afternoon. I watch an Arkansas basketball game
- 18:54Speaker 1: last night. It's weird because now we have a really
- 18:59Speaker 1: high profile, expensive coach. We have a lot of nil money.
- 19:04Speaker 1: We are highly functioning with that nil money. We have
- 19:08Speaker 1: great players. It's weird. I'm struggling with it.
- 19:12Speaker 3: What's weird about it? Because I don't think you're hated.
- 19:16Speaker 1: No, no, we're not. We're not hated yet. Yeah. Yet.
- 19:18Speaker 1: I think there's an expectation. We weren't even picked first
- 19:20Speaker 1: in the SEC, but there's an expectation because you saw
- 19:24Speaker 1: the poll, like, coaches, which basketball programs do you have
- 19:27Speaker 1: the most faith in? That? And it's Arkansas number one?
- 19:30Speaker 1: And so I don't think it's this year only, but
- 19:32Speaker 1: there will be an expectation because all the money. But
- 19:35Speaker 1: we're we're going to end up being the villain if
- 19:37Speaker 1: we win. Yeah, now it's cal yeah, but that's gonna
- 19:40Speaker 1: be awesome, dude, I don't know if we will know.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I'm not used to that. It feels funny to me
- 19:43Speaker 1: if you win, like that's going to be amazing, yeah,
- 19:47Speaker 1: and that you become the village. We've been the underdog, underfinanced,
- 19:51Speaker 1: little engine that could for so long my whole life
- 19:55Speaker 1: that it feels weird where I'm like, I'm watching a
- 19:57Speaker 1: guy that I know we paid a million bucks for
- 20:00Speaker 1: and I own money, I play, and I'm like, how
- 20:03Speaker 1: does this make me feel great that we actually do it?
- 20:07Speaker 9: Or like do I do?
- 20:09Speaker 1: I want to be the lovable loser that proves everybody wrong.
- 20:13Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm in I'm having an identity crisis.
- 20:16Speaker 5: To completely different worlds.
- 20:17Speaker 1: But I'm also like heading on Texas being rich at
- 20:19Speaker 1: the same time, and I'm like it's completely irrational.
- 20:22Speaker 3: You know what was weird though, is he was uh.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I used to seeing him kind of just wear like
- 20:27Speaker 3: a jogging suit caw, yeah cow, but not not not
- 20:31Speaker 3: in the Arkansas game, like his first game he wore suit.
- 20:34Speaker 3: He looked nice, you ever, like a nice little red jacket.
- 20:37Speaker 3: I've never seen him dressed like that.
- 20:39Speaker 1: Him wearing red was really weird for a long time.
- 20:41Speaker 1: Now I've seen it so much, like on my feeds,
- 20:42Speaker 1: it's starting to be kind of normal. But he's blue
- 20:45Speaker 1: to me, not even blue, not just Kentucky but Memphis right,
- 20:49Speaker 1: Like he's he's been, he's been blue. You can go back,
- 20:53Speaker 1: where was your mass.
- 20:55Speaker 3: Yeah, that's kind of reddish burgundy.
- 20:57Speaker 1: It is, but that was a long time ago. That
- 20:58Speaker 1: was like I don't remember that back. I only do
- 21:00Speaker 1: because we played at Arkansas. We played them because if
- 21:03Speaker 1: I'm not thinking of Patino, I have a Patino mixed
- 21:04Speaker 1: up a bunch.
- 21:05Speaker 5: Yeah that's fair.
- 21:06Speaker 4: Yeah Patino did Providence.
- 21:07Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, and they both were up and freaking the
- 21:10Speaker 1: Northeast where only losers come from. I'm just kickingss, you know.
- 21:13Speaker 1: But yeah, so okay, it's interesting is I'm having an
- 21:19Speaker 1: identity crisis. We haven't even won, meaning as a as
- 21:22Speaker 1: a program, and I'm are like, I don't know if
- 21:24Speaker 1: I like winning.
- 21:25Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah, we haven't even won, and I'm like, winning feels weird.
- 21:29Speaker 4: I don't know.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Okay, So there's that. That's what's in my mind. I
- 21:33Speaker 1: do want to now go to our guy. We love
- 21:36Speaker 1: Kansas State, and so we talked to Chris Climbing, the
- 21:40Speaker 1: head coach. We did an episode last year with him
- 21:42Speaker 1: of Too Much Access, and we love the program. We
- 21:45Speaker 1: already liked the people because we know a lot of
- 21:47Speaker 1: Kansas folks, but after going there, like we have become
- 21:49Speaker 1: fans of him. And then he won four consecutive FCS
- 21:52Speaker 1: championships in North Dakota State got hired a Kansas State
- 21:55Speaker 1: in twenty eighteen, and we talked, I got a nice
- 21:58Speaker 1: note from him last night. Oh did you really nice?
- 22:00Speaker 3: Such a nice guy.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It was like, it was so cool to talk to
- 22:03Speaker 1: you guys because of how you talk to us. Basically
- 22:05Speaker 1: was the note, which I honestly, how do you talk
- 22:08Speaker 1: to me? Well, they're probably like, oh, it's such as
- 22:10Speaker 1: you were like, oh no, no, but you'll hear I
- 22:14Speaker 1: did it in Spanish.
- 22:16Speaker 8: The end.
- 22:17Speaker 1: I think it's because mostly people think that we have
- 22:22Speaker 1: this like fresh approach on interviews. We're just idiots. Yeah,
- 22:27Speaker 1: I mean, for the most part, we're just asking like
- 22:30Speaker 1: what dumb guys would ask, because that's what we're not
- 22:33Speaker 1: trying to act smarter than we are. And then like
- 22:35Speaker 1: manifest the approach was so fresh, and I'm like, you know,
- 22:38Speaker 1: we really uh strategize that approach.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Coach, That's really how we are.
- 22:42Speaker 1: Yeah, very here. Uh the Wildcats are seven and two
- 22:46Speaker 1: on the season, still in the help for the Big twelve,
- 22:48Speaker 1: even at the end because I waited till the end
- 22:50Speaker 1: of this interview to ask him about the loss of Houston. Yeah,
- 22:53Speaker 1: I just I love the guy. I love the guy,
- 22:54Speaker 1: I love the program. Here he is. Here's coach. Hey, coach,
- 22:57Speaker 1: good to see you. Thank you for the time. How
- 23:00Speaker 1: you doing, Hey, pretty good? I do want to go
- 23:03Speaker 1: back a year or so. We were working out with
- 23:05Speaker 1: Cooper b B when were up there with you guys.
- 23:07Speaker 1: You keep up with Cooper at all with Cowboys.
- 23:09Speaker 9: Absolutely, he's come back for at least two games, but no,
- 23:15Speaker 9: probably weekly. We send a text back and forth. Super
- 23:18Speaker 9: proud of him being the starting center in the NFL.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Man crazy too because and Cooper and I follow each
- 23:23Speaker 1: other on Instagram since then and when he was drafted,
- 23:26Speaker 1: obviously super pumped for him. But the transition, and maybe
- 23:29Speaker 1: you could add a little of this, the transition because
- 23:31Speaker 1: he did not play center for you, but now he's
- 23:33Speaker 1: playing center with the Cowboys. How hard is that to
- 23:36Speaker 1: do on the offensive line?
- 23:39Speaker 9: It's really hard. But the fact that he played all
- 23:42Speaker 9: four positions, but that I think lent himself to understanding
- 23:49Speaker 9: all the positions and knew that he could because he
- 23:52Speaker 9: was the guy that communicated all of our checks and
- 23:55Speaker 9: adjustments and IDs and stuff. Anyway, and all along when
- 24:01Speaker 9: he was here and continue to get better and better,
- 24:03Speaker 9: people kept asking us, do you think he can be
- 24:05Speaker 9: a center? Do you think he can be a center?
- 24:07Speaker 6: Well?
- 24:08Speaker 9: Yeah, we did. From a mental side of things now
- 24:10Speaker 9: from a physical side of things, he just had to
- 24:12Speaker 9: put the time into it. And obviously he did that
- 24:15Speaker 9: because to make that transition and be the start, be
- 24:18Speaker 9: named the starter by week one was pretty remarkable.
- 24:21Speaker 1: So teams were reaching out to you to ask if
- 24:24Speaker 1: they if you thought like his mental capacity was that
- 24:27Speaker 1: of a center, so more so was it a size,
- 24:30Speaker 1: Like why were teams looking at him as a center all.
- 24:34Speaker 9: The fact that he's not six foot six and six '
- 24:37Speaker 9: five and stuff. He's a you know, I don't know
- 24:38Speaker 9: what is he six three and a half six ' four,
- 24:41Speaker 9: And they knew he would be an interior guy somewhere.
- 24:45Speaker 9: And the center position is so valuable, so hard to
- 24:49Speaker 9: find that when you have somebody with the acumen that
- 24:52Speaker 9: he has of understanding the game and understanding defensive fronts
- 24:56Speaker 9: and being able to communicate. I thought it was going
- 24:59Speaker 9: to be an natural for him to be able to
- 25:01Speaker 9: move inside there. Then he just had to, you know,
- 25:03Speaker 9: work on the physical side of getting the snaps and movement.
- 25:07Speaker 9: And I knew he could do it because he's such
- 25:10Speaker 9: a great athlete too.
- 25:11Speaker 1: Is there ever a time with a player when you
- 25:15Speaker 1: will modify a bit of how they play or what
- 25:17Speaker 1: they do for the next level, even though it may
- 25:20Speaker 1: not be completely advantageous to what you're doing right then.
- 25:24Speaker 9: Not completely, but I also have a responsibility to give
- 25:29Speaker 9: these guys the best opportunity to have success at that
- 25:33Speaker 9: next level, and if it can fit with what we're
- 25:35Speaker 9: doing as a team, yes, absolutely. We had a guy
- 25:40Speaker 9: that actually started for the Bucks the other night named
- 25:44Speaker 9: Josh Hayes. He's a safety slash corner and I had
- 25:49Speaker 9: him at North Zkota State and he was a corner
- 25:52Speaker 9: and then we got him out of the transfer portal
- 25:54Speaker 9: to come here and he assumed he was going to
- 25:57Speaker 9: play corner and I said, Josh, we're going to play
- 25:58Speaker 9: you at safety here. A. It's going to help us
- 26:01Speaker 9: be a better team, but B I think it's going
- 26:04Speaker 9: to market you better in the NFL because you're not
- 26:07Speaker 9: a six foot three guy that's two hundred and fifteen pounds.
- 26:10Speaker 9: That's a corner that a lot of the teams are
- 26:12Speaker 9: looking for. Josh is a six foot, one hundred and
- 26:15Speaker 9: ninety five pound kid, And I said, if you can
- 26:17Speaker 9: cover slot guys, you're going to have a place in
- 26:20Speaker 9: the NFL. So it's not only going to help our team,
- 26:22Speaker 9: but it's going to help your draft status, and they
- 26:25Speaker 9: end up getting drafted maybe in the fourth or fifth
- 26:27Speaker 9: round by the Bucks. And I think he's in his
- 26:29Speaker 9: third year now and now he's a starter for him.
- 26:32Speaker 9: But his ability to move and showcase what he could
- 26:37Speaker 9: do as a safety rather than a corner helped us
- 26:40Speaker 9: as a team and helped him in the draft.
- 26:42Speaker 1: What's Avery Johnson like as a dude?
- 26:45Speaker 9: Gosh, A, He's awesome. He's so much fun to be around.
- 26:50Speaker 9: He's the unquestioned leader on the offense, but he's very confident,
- 26:57Speaker 9: has some swagger, but he's not a cocky kid. He's
- 27:00Speaker 9: a guy that you know the room lights up when
- 27:04Speaker 9: he comes in, but he doesn't want that, if that
- 27:09Speaker 9: makes sense. He doesn't want to be the center of attention.
- 27:11Speaker 9: He's just always going to be. Some of it is
- 27:13Speaker 9: his hair, right, He's going to be the center of
- 27:15Speaker 9: attention because of his hair. But he's a very humble,
- 27:21Speaker 9: driven kid. That what people don't see about Avery is
- 27:25Speaker 9: all the things that he does in our community for youth,
- 27:29Speaker 9: for disability, children, for people in need. I know he's
- 27:36Speaker 9: helping a principle back home that was diagnosed with cancer,
- 27:39Speaker 9: of raising money those are the things that he's not
- 27:42Speaker 9: putting out on social media but maybe should be emphasized
- 27:46Speaker 9: a little bit more because it's not just about the football.
- 27:48Speaker 9: The football is just a very small part of his life.
- 27:52Speaker 1: When you look for a leader, like what are those qualities?
- 27:57Speaker 1: And the leadership qualities can be very different. I mean
- 28:00Speaker 1: we have them even here amongst this organization. Like what
- 28:03Speaker 1: are the qualities that you see in leaders that you
- 28:06Speaker 1: feel like go best with your program.
- 28:09Speaker 9: For starters that have to be able to hold themselves accountable,
- 28:12Speaker 9: it's always easy to say the best player and the
- 28:15Speaker 9: work ethic and his last one off the field and
- 28:19Speaker 9: the first one on the field. You know, those are
- 28:21Speaker 9: the things that people I think think about, but I
- 28:24Speaker 9: think of it as one he's one that holds himself
- 28:27Speaker 9: accountable and he's not going to talk the talk unless
- 28:32Speaker 9: he can walk the walk. And we have a kid
- 28:36Speaker 9: named Austin Moore that's one of our captains that epitomizes
- 28:40Speaker 9: what a what.
- 28:41Speaker 8: A leader is.
- 28:42Speaker 9: And when I call when I say a leader, he's
- 28:44Speaker 9: a servant leader and the fact that he makes everybody
- 28:47Speaker 9: around him better because of his presence. And the best
- 28:52Speaker 9: leaders are ones that really don't care if at the
- 28:58Speaker 9: end of the day we're going to be best friends
- 29:00Speaker 9: for the next forty years, You're going to respect me
- 29:03Speaker 9: because I'm going to hold myself accountable, but I'm not
- 29:06Speaker 9: going to be afraid to hold you accountable. And you know,
- 29:10Speaker 9: in our sport, in college, kids have three, four or
- 29:13Speaker 9: five years to make a legacy, and you can make
- 29:17Speaker 9: a ton of friends, and you're already going to make
- 29:19Speaker 9: a ton of friends. But the only way you're going
- 29:21Speaker 9: to make a legacy is if you have success. And
- 29:23Speaker 9: the only way you're going to have success is by
- 29:27Speaker 9: holding your peers accountable. And that's what I find in
- 29:31Speaker 9: the best leaders is they can hold themselves accountable. They
- 29:34Speaker 9: can walk the walk, but they are not afraid to
- 29:37Speaker 9: call out their best friend, not afraid to call out
- 29:41Speaker 9: a teammate that is maybe equally as talented. It's easy
- 29:44Speaker 9: to call the guys that maybe aren't as good or
- 29:46Speaker 9: don't do things the right way. But when you can
- 29:49Speaker 9: call out the other best players and they respect you
- 29:52Speaker 9: for it, that's the best sign of leadership.
- 29:54Speaker 1: I'm going to get in the weeds a little here
- 29:55Speaker 1: because I respect your entire career as a coach and
- 29:58Speaker 1: what you've built every level. But I want to talk
- 30:01Speaker 1: about practice tape. So you're a practice, you're doing what
- 30:05Speaker 1: you do, you're ceoing, you're making sure that the macro
- 30:08Speaker 1: things are done right. Do you ever get on and
- 30:10Speaker 1: watch some tape and see somebody that maybe you did
- 30:13Speaker 1: not know was competing at a higher level than maybe
- 30:17Speaker 1: you wouldn't have caught if you didn't see it on tape.
- 30:20Speaker 9: One hundred percent. I do it every day, And not
- 30:24Speaker 9: only do you have to do it, but you have
- 30:28Speaker 9: to recognize that individual or those individuals for their efforts.
- 30:34Speaker 9: And a simple thing would be we have our Scout
- 30:37Speaker 9: Team Players of the Week every week, the guys that
- 30:40Speaker 9: aren't playing but gave us a chance to be successful
- 30:44Speaker 9: by the look that they gave us each day that
- 30:47Speaker 9: week that maybe we're down a defensive tackle and he
- 30:51Speaker 9: had to take every rep in practice for the Scout team,
- 30:54Speaker 9: or a linebacker whatever, maybe as well as special teams.
- 30:57Speaker 9: And I think it's important that not only myself, but
- 31:01Speaker 9: some of our best players thank those guys and recognize
- 31:07Speaker 9: those guys. We have a neat deal that we do
- 31:09Speaker 9: after wins in the locker room where we hand out
- 31:13Speaker 9: a hammer. Because we talked about pounding the stone all
- 31:15Speaker 9: the time. We hand out a hammer to somebody and
- 31:18Speaker 9: then they get to recognize somebody, and oftentimes it's a
- 31:22Speaker 9: defensive lineman that is recognizing Hey, scout team offensive lineman
- 31:25Speaker 9: and so and so or scout team wide receiver as
- 31:28Speaker 9: a defensive back. Thank you for pushing me this week, man,
- 31:31Speaker 9: you made me better. But I think you have to
- 31:34Speaker 9: recognize those guys and they have to know that they're
- 31:37Speaker 9: a valued part of your organization and program.
- 31:40Speaker 1: I want to ask you about your dad for a second.
- 31:42Speaker 1: What do you think you've taken from him, even if
- 31:44Speaker 1: you don't realize until you got older that you had,
- 31:47Speaker 1: like as a.
- 31:47Speaker 9: Coach, competitiveness and toughness not even in question. My dad's
- 31:52Speaker 9: the toughest man I know. Because of some of the
- 31:55Speaker 9: things that he's been through, through health situations, through mentions,
- 32:01Speaker 9: I probably caused some of his mental anguished at times.
- 32:07Speaker 9: But he's the toughest guy I know, and he's never
- 32:10Speaker 9: going to let you let somebody else know that something's
- 32:16Speaker 9: bothering him. I probably don't do as good a job that.
- 32:18Speaker 9: I don't do as good a job of that. I
- 32:19Speaker 9: wear my heart on my sleeve a little bit more
- 32:21Speaker 9: than my dad ever did, but that's a different era too.
- 32:25Speaker 9: And then the competitiveness of you know, we go to
- 32:28Speaker 9: play Oklahoma and my dad, this is gonna be a
- 32:30Speaker 9: tough one. Man. I don't know my first year, We
- 32:34Speaker 9: don't know if we're on the same field as these guys.
- 32:37Speaker 9: And you know, BS, yeah you are, but you got
- 32:40Speaker 9: to convince your guys of that. You got to make
- 32:42Speaker 9: sure that your guys know that you believe in them,
- 32:44Speaker 9: that you are a better team. And if you all
- 32:46Speaker 9: come together and you play your tail off with each other,
- 32:49Speaker 9: you got every bit of an opportunity to beat a
- 32:51Speaker 9: team like that. And so he's still at eighty five
- 32:57Speaker 9: years old, the best armchair quarterback I have.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Does he text you at all? And does he use emojis?
- 33:04Speaker 2: No?
- 33:04Speaker 9: No, my dad wouldn't use an emoji, but he'll text me.
- 33:09Speaker 9: But I always know him in trouble or he wants
- 33:11Speaker 9: to talk to me when he either leaves me a
- 33:13Speaker 9: voicemail or sends me a text, and it starts with Christopher.
- 33:17Speaker 1: Oh full name. He gets you with the full name?
- 33:18Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, yeah, Christopher, Why don't you give me a call?
- 33:22Speaker 1: Big twelves new this year, like, yeah, you know a
- 33:26Speaker 1: lot a lot of new teams having to go to
- 33:28Speaker 1: new places. How has it been with the new Big twelve.
- 33:31Speaker 9: For you guys, it's been a really neat experience. It's
- 33:37Speaker 9: I think it's phenomenal for fan bases. I gotta be
- 33:40Speaker 9: honest with you. The travel sucks, right, I mean that's
- 33:45Speaker 9: what we knew that, But we had to progress in
- 33:48Speaker 9: our league to keep up with the Joneses. So the
- 33:51Speaker 9: travel has been not a whole lot of fun because
- 33:54Speaker 9: we're kind of like we're the old Pac twelve at night.
- 33:57Speaker 9: Now we're the Big twelve at night, So go to
- 33:59Speaker 9: BYU and get home at six in the morning. Which
- 34:03Speaker 9: was a great environment. So much respect for Clownie Sataki
- 34:06Speaker 9: and what he's done, and they've deserved all the recognition
- 34:09Speaker 9: they're getting. But what a great environment that was. Going
- 34:13Speaker 9: to Colorado and the coach Prime is done a phenomenal
- 34:15Speaker 9: job there. That place was electric. We found a way
- 34:19Speaker 9: to sneak out of there with a win. But it
- 34:21Speaker 9: was a cool environment in a beautiful setting, and it
- 34:24Speaker 9: was it was fun.
- 34:25Speaker 2: You know.
- 34:26Speaker 9: We've gone to some of the other ones, and we
- 34:28Speaker 9: have a few more teams in this league that we
- 34:30Speaker 9: haven't played or seen for a long long time here,
- 34:34Speaker 9: and I think it's healthy for college football. The only
- 34:37Speaker 9: thing I don't like about when you say the new
- 34:39Speaker 9: Big Twelve, the new PACK, or the new ACC, the
- 34:43Speaker 9: new SEC, all these new leagues. The only thing I
- 34:46Speaker 9: don't like about it is I don't know if we're
- 34:50Speaker 9: going to truly get a true champion when not everybody
- 34:53Speaker 9: plays each other. And I don't know if in the
- 34:56Speaker 9: Big Ten the top teams play each other across the board.
- 35:00Speaker 9: Maybe they do. I don't pay attention to enough schedules,
- 35:03Speaker 9: but you know Iowa State doesn't play BYU Well, nobody knew,
- 35:06Speaker 9: but those two are the better teams in the league.
- 35:09Speaker 9: We don't play Texas Tech and Texas Tech or and
- 35:12Speaker 9: on US or up towards the top of the league.
- 35:14Speaker 9: And I know that that's part of it. We just
- 35:16Speaker 9: can't control that. But that's something that I wish we
- 35:19Speaker 9: could get rectified a little bit.
- 35:20Speaker 1: Yeah, the SEC is doing that too, where they you know,
- 35:22Speaker 1: East and West until this year. But it almost makes
- 35:26Speaker 1: more sense because of that, right, I mean, and inequality
- 35:30Speaker 1: and schedule to put the divisions again, because at least
- 35:32Speaker 1: the entire division could play each other and the two
- 35:35Speaker 1: winners could play each other. So almost it's like you're
- 35:37Speaker 1: reversing to go forward because you're right if there are
- 35:42Speaker 1: advantages for certain teams every year, and there will be,
- 35:45Speaker 1: and that will be something you constantly have to face.
- 35:47Speaker 9: Yeah, and we can't control that, and rather than complain
- 35:51Speaker 9: about it or anything, you know, nobody knows what the
- 35:54Speaker 9: league's going to be like, and that's the prognostication of
- 35:57Speaker 9: this team is going to be the best team, and
- 36:00Speaker 9: we get into August, nobody has any idea. I mean,
- 36:03Speaker 9: nobody knew what Indiana was going to be. I'm sure
- 36:06Speaker 9: that their players and their staff probably thought we're going
- 36:09Speaker 9: to have a really good team, but nobody knows how
- 36:11Speaker 9: those transfers are going to fit in and how the
- 36:13Speaker 9: new players are going to adapt and fit into the program.
- 36:18Speaker 9: So you're right, it's going to be hard. And now
- 36:22Speaker 9: we play these teams and then I know we're not
- 36:24Speaker 9: playing BYU next year. I can't think who else we're
- 36:27Speaker 9: not playing. But it's like, Okay, you get a game
- 36:29Speaker 9: with them and you don't see them for two years,
- 36:32Speaker 9: and it's good that we're still playing Like KU and
- 36:34Speaker 9: Iowa State, Oklahoma State, some of our regional rivalries. But
- 36:38Speaker 9: we went to West Virginia again after not seeing them
- 36:42Speaker 9: in twenty three. We played at their place in twenty two,
- 36:44Speaker 9: didn't play them in twenty three, and then they had
- 36:45Speaker 9: to go back there in twenty four. So you're going
- 36:48Speaker 9: to have some of those imbalances where you're going to
- 36:50Speaker 9: go to the same place two of three years because
- 36:53Speaker 9: of just how they worked the schedule.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I have two final questions for you. I was watching
- 36:56Speaker 1: the CFP whenever they announced the rankings. There you're ranked nineteen.
- 37:01Speaker 1: How high do you think you need to get if
- 37:04Speaker 1: you know, obviously, if you win the Big twelve, you
- 37:07Speaker 1: get in, but where do you think you need to
- 37:08Speaker 1: land in order.
- 37:09Speaker 9: To get in? Well, that'd be the easiest path, without
- 37:14Speaker 9: a doubt, is to win the Big twelve. I will
- 37:18Speaker 9: be really disappointed if a two loss Big twelve school
- 37:26Speaker 9: gets to the championship game and gets beat and doesn't
- 37:30Speaker 9: get in and that.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Third loss counts against them, is what you're saying.
- 37:33Speaker 9: Yeah, yeah, when you may not even play in the
- 37:37Speaker 9: game and you could get in, but you play in
- 37:39Speaker 9: that game and maybe BYU runs the table and ends
- 37:42Speaker 9: up thirteen, and oh, obviously they're going to get in.
- 37:46Speaker 9: But maybe maybe a team loses to them, that that's
- 37:49Speaker 9: their third loss that they maybe would have gotten in
- 37:52Speaker 9: had they not even played the game. Somebody in the SEC,
- 37:57Speaker 9: in the Big ten.
- 37:57Speaker 2: It is what it is.
- 37:58Speaker 9: I mean, I'm not naive enough I understand the landscape
- 38:02Speaker 9: of college football where those two conferences are at, is
- 38:05Speaker 9: going to get in because.
- 38:06Speaker 6: They did play in that game.
- 38:08Speaker 1: It does feel counterproductive to penalize a team from making
- 38:11Speaker 1: it to the championship game when they lose the championship game,
- 38:15Speaker 1: because that you're right, may that absolutely could happen. You
- 38:17Speaker 1: could go, well, there's a three beside their name now,
- 38:19Speaker 1: not a two, so we're going to go and hold
- 38:21Speaker 1: them out for another two that didn't make it because
- 38:23Speaker 1: of a tiebreaker or so exactly.
- 38:26Speaker 9: Yeah, and I wish you could and Bobby within the
- 38:30Speaker 9: next couple of years. I don't know when this thing ends.
- 38:33Speaker 9: It's got to go to sixteen teams don't have buys
- 38:36Speaker 9: and get sixteen teams in there, and then you could say, hey,
- 38:40Speaker 9: the four Power four conferences, if you're in that championship game,
- 38:44Speaker 9: there's your first eight. Those guys are in. I don't
- 38:47Speaker 9: care how you got there because You're probably not going
- 38:49Speaker 9: to get in there at seven and five anyway, You're
- 38:51Speaker 9: going to be a ten and two, nine and three team,
- 38:53Speaker 9: whatever it is. They might as well just put those
- 38:56Speaker 9: eight teams in and then figure out the eight.
- 38:57Speaker 1: After that last question, tough at Houston. What do you
- 39:01Speaker 1: say to your team after that game?
- 39:04Speaker 9: Don't let it define you? Very similar to after BYU.
- 39:08Speaker 9: It's hard to win in college football. I mean it
- 39:11Speaker 9: is you. There's so much parody with the age of
- 39:15Speaker 9: the transfer portal and stuff. You have to be prepared
- 39:19Speaker 9: and put your best foot forward and play really good
- 39:21Speaker 9: football every week. Same thing. We got beat at BYU,
- 39:24Speaker 9: and I said, guys, this game can't define us. We
- 39:27Speaker 9: can't let BYU beat us twice. And then we won
- 39:29Speaker 9: four in a row and played pretty good football. Okay,
- 39:32Speaker 9: we lost a lot of things and starts with me,
- 39:36Speaker 9: and we've got to find ways to correct those things.
- 39:38Speaker 9: But we can't let that game beat us twice. We're
- 39:40Speaker 9: fortunately we have an open week this week. We got
- 39:42Speaker 9: a lot of guys banged up, so does everybody in
- 39:44Speaker 9: the country, a lot of guys banged up. We get
- 39:46Speaker 9: a chance to at least catch our breath, get some
- 39:48Speaker 9: guys healthy for these last three weeks.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Coach, I think I've watched seven of your games, Like
- 39:53Speaker 1: I'm a family legit fan now and also my team sucks,
- 39:56Speaker 1: so I'm a legit fan. I've seen, Yeah, got a
- 39:59Speaker 1: good life. We saw, we saw, but it gives me
- 40:01Speaker 1: more time to fand with Kansas State and all of
- 40:03Speaker 1: us here like we loved being there. We're massive fans
- 40:06Speaker 1: of you guys. I know you got three games left
- 40:08Speaker 1: and off week this week, so we appreciate the time,
- 40:10Speaker 1: but just want to say, like we are genuinely and
- 40:12Speaker 1: loudly rooting for you guys, So thank you for the time.
- 40:14Speaker 9: Coach, appreciate you having me on. This is a big
- 40:17Speaker 9: thing for a program to be on your show. And
- 40:20Speaker 9: can't thank you guys for being fans of Case State.
- 40:22Speaker 1: All right, Coach Sea, thank you. All right, let's do
- 40:24Speaker 1: the parlay. We'll do three teams this week because we
- 40:27Speaker 1: did four last week. But we're not on the app
- 40:30Speaker 1: then if we only do three, right, correct, I just
- 40:33Speaker 1: don't let four? We got sad? Why like being on
- 40:37Speaker 1: the app? Man, It's like I can't click on it
- 40:40Speaker 1: because I'm still locked out, but I can see it.
- 40:43Speaker 3: That's a good point.
- 40:45Speaker 1: We might have already committed to Mike, what do we
- 40:47Speaker 1: do here? Can we do four? And they put us
- 40:49Speaker 1: on the app? I could see.
- 40:50Speaker 5: I know we're slated for later in the month to
- 40:52Speaker 5: be on the app again, you guys.
- 40:54Speaker 3: And then were we at the end of the app?
- 40:56Speaker 1: Dude? We were last place? And you know what, I
- 40:59Speaker 1: don't blame them, sure, I get it, get it. They
- 41:01Speaker 1: were like, we like your fresh approach. I'm betting we're like,
- 41:05Speaker 1: you know what, We're just idiots. It's not a pressure approach.
- 41:09Speaker 1: We'll do We'll do four because I want reed to
- 41:14Speaker 1: be a part of it.
- 41:15Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Do you guys know your teams?
- 41:19Speaker 3: Yeah? I got mine. I got mine.
- 41:21Speaker 1: But I hope you guys he's looking for the first
- 41:23Speaker 1: time that's the problem. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got mine. Okay,
- 41:29Speaker 1: got go with you. Cut. Let's do a little parlay here, Kevin,
- 41:33Speaker 1: you go first.
- 41:34Speaker 5: I'm gonna go the undefeated b Yu Cougars. The Cougars, right,
- 41:39Speaker 5: the Cougars plus three and a half at Utah. That'd
- 41:44Speaker 5: be a pretty fun game. Or minus three and a half,
- 41:45Speaker 5: I'm sorry minus, I said plus minus three and a half.
- 41:48Speaker 1: That'd be a pretty fun game, rivalry game. Okay, Eddie,
- 41:53Speaker 1: check it out.
- 41:54Speaker 3: We're going Texas, your favorite team minus twenty one and
- 41:58Speaker 3: a half against Florida. But they're home, so we got that.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Oh it should be a mess.
- 42:03Speaker 1: And Mike, you're going to the game.
- 42:04Speaker 3: What are you getting there tomorrow afternoon?
- 42:06Speaker 5: That's awesome that I guess.
- 42:08Speaker 3: And the fact that Mike's gonna be there special juju
- 42:11Speaker 3: read mm hmm.
- 42:13Speaker 1: I think I may go South Carolina minus four against Vandy.
- 42:18Speaker 5: Oh you know you're going against our commodorees.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Dude, I love them, but it's paid too much. Chick
- 42:24Speaker 1: your team. I'm gonna go South Carolina minus four. Since
- 42:27Speaker 1: it's not on the app, you can actually just not
- 42:28Speaker 1: use reeds. I guess that's true. You can build your
- 42:31Speaker 1: own out. Yeah okay, and then uh, it's you. I
- 42:37Speaker 1: know what game is going to hit, but it's not
- 42:39Speaker 1: as sexy. It's not as fine of a pick. Oh
- 42:41Speaker 1: that's okay. I think I picked the Army last time. Yeah,
- 42:43Speaker 1: but that's sexy. I love America all right? Like this
- 42:49Speaker 1: this game is automatic. I think Vegas has fell asleep
- 42:53Speaker 1: and they're making this line. Samuson State. Mississippi State is
- 42:57Speaker 1: playing in Knoxville at Tennessee. Tennessee is a twenty four
- 43:01Speaker 1: point favorite. Mississippi State sucks.
- 43:04Speaker 5: I'll be there.
- 43:05Speaker 3: You're going to that one.
- 43:06Speaker 1: Yeah, we could have beat them by one hundred. Yeah,
- 43:10Speaker 1: Tennessee minus twenty four.
- 43:12Speaker 3: Kevin, you don't think that's a lot? I mean no,
- 43:15Speaker 3: I had twenty one and a half and you're like
- 43:16Speaker 3: that's a lot.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Well, Florida is a better, much better team. Thansissippi State
- 43:20Speaker 5: City State, They're awful. Yeah, but Florida. I think they're
- 43:24Speaker 5: on like their fourth quarterback now, so that hurts.
- 43:27Speaker 1: Yeah, right, I did see. It's like we're playing I
- 43:29Speaker 1: don't think so. The fact they even brought up that
- 43:32Speaker 1: he might was surprising to me. I thought he was
- 43:34Speaker 1: going to be out multiple weeks.
- 43:35Speaker 5: Same and they have some transfer from Yale. I want
- 43:38Speaker 5: to yeah, like a walk on from Yale. Yeah, I think, yeah,
- 43:41Speaker 5: I think smart guy.
- 43:42Speaker 8: Huh.
- 43:43Speaker 1: He actually goes out with a note Padna pen writes
- 43:46Speaker 1: a couple of things down and yeah, see coach or idiots.

- 44:36Speaker 1: Charlotte Hornet's power forward Grant Williams, which, by the way,
- 44:39Speaker 1: he's been hilarious this season. You been watching him?
- 44:41Speaker 2: No?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Yah uh uh?
- 44:43Speaker 5: You see him push tato.
- 44:44Speaker 1: Yes, he's just like trolling. It's so funny. Grant played
- 44:47Speaker 1: at Tennessee, where he was All American before being drafted
- 44:49Speaker 1: by the Celtics in the first round of twenty nineteen.
- 44:52Speaker 1: You can follow Grant on Instagram at Grant will two.
- 44:55Speaker 1: Here is Hornets Power Forward Grant Williams Grant good to
- 44:59Speaker 1: see you, appreciate you time, thanks for having me. How
- 45:01Speaker 1: often do you just walk down the street and somebody's like,
- 45:02Speaker 1: sign it?
- 45:04Speaker 8: It happened a lot, and New York has more I
- 45:05Speaker 8: feel like the normal. But that's just because it's the
- 45:07Speaker 8: sports city.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Is it weird? Because on a much lower level, like
- 45:11Speaker 1: if I'm gonna do it like a comedy show or
- 45:14Speaker 1: music show, people will bring stuff and I know they're
- 45:15Speaker 1: going to sell it. Like I it's like when a
- 45:18Speaker 1: fifty three year old dude comes up with something to sign,
- 45:21Speaker 1: like I know and my stuff wone goes for as
- 45:23Speaker 1: much as yours. So no, no, no, But isn't it
- 45:27Speaker 1: doesn't that feel a little weird? Like you know, all
- 45:29Speaker 1: you're doing sign is something that some dude is just
- 45:31Speaker 1: probably gonna flip real quick.
- 45:32Speaker 8: It depends. Like I always check, like when I'm in
- 45:34Speaker 8: during the season. Is if I see a blue marker,
- 45:36Speaker 8: a Tipty don't sign. So if it's black or gold
- 45:38Speaker 8: or something like that, sign it, But blue I Tippy
- 45:40Speaker 8: don't sign. Why that blue is what gets sold? That's
- 45:43Speaker 8: what I got told like you think about Plini cards.
- 45:45Speaker 8: We sign a blue marker and everything that typically, like
- 45:48Speaker 8: you see online, it's to be in blue.
- 45:50Speaker 4: So I'll tell my son not to carry a blue marker.
- 45:52Speaker 8: Yeah, they don't care about blue markers. We're pretty pretty
- 45:54Speaker 8: good on getting the segnature.
- 45:55Speaker 1: So we live in Nashville, Tennessee. I don't know how
- 45:59Speaker 1: you about Barnes. How do you feel about the program now?
- 46:02Speaker 8: I feel like they're doing great. I don't know how
- 46:03Speaker 8: much how many years Barnes got left in them. I
- 46:05Speaker 8: feel like if they if Yanna being bad, I feel
- 46:07Speaker 8: like Barnes gonna step away. But I think that at
- 46:09Speaker 8: the same time, they're They're one of the best teams
- 46:11Speaker 8: in the country every year, so they'll stay competitive. This
- 46:13Speaker 8: year is gonna be different because there's team full of
- 46:15Speaker 8: transfers and freshmen. So I'm excited because Barnes is gonna
- 46:18Speaker 8: be able to do with that group. And I wish
- 46:20Speaker 8: years past adult year is probably the best year to
- 46:22Speaker 8: do it.
- 46:23Speaker 1: What about Nil, Do you wish that had been way
- 46:25Speaker 1: more prevalent whenever whenever you were playing?
- 46:27Speaker 8: Yeah, let's just say I was a three star recruit,
- 46:29Speaker 8: so it's not like I was getting paid out of
- 46:31Speaker 8: high school as some guys. So when if I would
- 46:33Speaker 8: definitely went back, I definitely would have made probably two
- 46:36Speaker 8: million dollars or something like that that year after my
- 46:38Speaker 8: especially after the two back to back and see Player
- 46:40Speaker 8: of the Years. But and now yell didn't kick in
- 46:42Speaker 8: until two years after I left school, so after COVID
- 46:44Speaker 8: technically could have been a super senior, but I wouldn't
- 46:47Speaker 8: have wanted to be in school that long.
- 46:49Speaker 1: As far as fitness goes, what do you do when
- 46:52Speaker 1: it's not time to do you officially? Like how are
- 46:54Speaker 1: you staying in shape?
- 46:55Speaker 8: Honestly, it starts with just like the biking and stuff
- 46:59Speaker 8: like that, Like I go like trying to stay active, walks. Honestly,
- 47:02Speaker 8: I enjoy being in Europe because walkable city. New York
- 47:05Speaker 8: places like that because you can get around, use metro,
- 47:08Speaker 8: subway and just kind of move around. I'm not really
- 47:11Speaker 8: the guy that walks around with security or really worries
- 47:13Speaker 8: about anything. So that's probably the reason why I love
- 47:16Speaker 8: being in the city like this. So it's been really fun.
- 47:18Speaker 6: When the season gets closer, how do you change your regimen?
- 47:21Speaker 8: Ramp up everything else? Die? It's probably the number one
- 47:23Speaker 8: thing for me because it's working out I always will do.
- 47:26Speaker 8: But eating is probably my biggest kryptonite. So figuring out
- 47:29Speaker 8: what you're eating, how much you're eating, that's probably my
- 47:31Speaker 8: number one thing for fitness.
- 47:32Speaker 6: How many shots you need to get up a session.
- 47:35Speaker 8: Do you have a number or it's more so feel
- 47:37Speaker 8: But at the same time, I typic get like two
- 47:39Speaker 8: hundred and three hundred at least in that one time
- 47:41Speaker 8: of day, and I maybe I'll go back, but you know,
- 47:44Speaker 8: over time those thousands, And it depends on what time
- 47:47Speaker 8: the season you're in and what you think you need.
- 47:49Speaker 6: What do you feel like you bring now at this
- 47:52Speaker 6: stage of your career, honestly.
- 47:55Speaker 8: Just a veteran mentality, defense, physicality, shooting, spacing, and honestly
- 48:02Speaker 8: just hopefully a chance of winning, like a winning mentality
- 48:04Speaker 8: and culture to be able to set you.
- 48:07Speaker 1: When you say a veteran a really young team like
- 48:09Speaker 1: until Van Fleet went to Houston, like that was.
- 48:12Speaker 6: A very very very young team.
- 48:14Speaker 1: Yes, are there Do teams actually need veterans to keep
- 48:17Speaker 1: people in line?
- 48:19Speaker 8: It's not even about keeping people on line, but I
- 48:20Speaker 8: think it's necessary because it gives guy's perspective and it
- 48:23Speaker 8: also gives guys a blueprint. You know, when you're just
- 48:25Speaker 8: a young group, a young group of guys, you're all
- 48:27Speaker 8: competing for the same spots. You're not really worried about winning,
- 48:29Speaker 8: you're not really caring about team Outlook, you're worried about
- 48:32Speaker 8: what girl you're going to talk to, and you don't
- 48:33Speaker 8: know what girl to avoid. It's just a lot going on.
- 48:36Speaker 8: So honestly, it's crucial we have vets on every team.
- 48:39Speaker 8: It's something that I'm actually trying to talk to the
- 48:41Speaker 8: league about and make sure that it's either a staple
- 48:43Speaker 8: or something like that going on. Because having the Times
- 48:45Speaker 8: Gipps and the Markeuith Morris, you don't as has them
- 48:48Speaker 8: like play people like that in the locker room gives
- 48:50Speaker 8: you not any the history of the league and what
- 48:52Speaker 8: you've been through, but also might give you perspective during
- 48:54Speaker 8: the game. Like when I got to Charlotte, I was like, Brandon,
- 48:56Speaker 8: get to know the referees, like no one's ever told
- 48:58Speaker 8: him that.
- 48:59Speaker 9: But like talk to under names.
- 49:00Speaker 8: If you call it, mister rough, you're gonna be with
- 49:02Speaker 8: them for the next twenty years of your life. Like
- 49:03Speaker 8: these guys don't change, so get to know them. So
- 49:06Speaker 8: like These are the things that I feel like when
- 49:07Speaker 8: you're a young team, you don't really get to hear
- 49:09Speaker 8: and veterans, I think are really crucial to every team
- 49:12Speaker 8: in the league.
- 49:12Speaker 1: Year one to year two. You're talking about Brandon Miller,
- 49:14Speaker 1: I'm assuming, yes, like Nick Smith, you know those kind
- 49:17Speaker 1: of guys. Year one, I'm assuming, eyes wide open, like
- 49:20Speaker 1: it's just I'm in the freaking NBA and making money.
- 49:23Speaker 1: What's the difference in growth even from your year oneder
- 49:26Speaker 1: year two? What will they experience going into the second year.
- 49:28Speaker 8: It's that second year where everybody kind of understands your
- 49:30Speaker 8: game now and you have to continue to improve. My
- 49:33Speaker 8: first year, I wasn't necessarily labeled as a shooter, and
- 49:35Speaker 8: that second year I came in as a really good shooter.
- 49:37Speaker 8: And it's just a matter of continued improvement and trying
- 49:40Speaker 8: to make your mark of the league. Because you might
- 49:42Speaker 8: have a great first year. I had a great rookie year.
- 49:44Speaker 8: My second year wasn't what I wanted it to be.
- 49:45Speaker 8: So it's just a matter of maintaining that same consiste
- 49:48Speaker 8: of mentality, of competitiveness and honestly focusing in on what's
- 49:51Speaker 8: important and making sure that basketball is your main thing.
- 49:54Speaker 1: Can you actually, if you focus on a specific skill,
- 49:59Speaker 1: can you returned to the NBA the next year with
- 50:02Speaker 1: a new skill in your bag that they were not
- 50:05Speaker 1: used to you having last year?
- 50:06Speaker 9: Absolutely, Like I.
- 50:06Speaker 8: Think I've improved year over year, especially with my handle
- 50:09Speaker 8: on perime, their skills, play making ability and then shooting
- 50:12Speaker 8: for sure in my life, and honestly just getting more
- 50:15Speaker 8: comfortable on the floor and understanding where your strengths are,
- 50:18Speaker 8: what spots do you want to get to And it
- 50:20Speaker 8: takes time. You know, some of their best players don't
- 50:22Speaker 8: really have their best years to their eighth ninth year.
- 50:24Speaker 8: So you with a guy like Jeremy Grant, he's always improved.
- 50:27Speaker 8: There's always gonna be that continued improvement. There's especially when
- 50:29Speaker 8: you're young. I was a twenty year old rookie and
- 50:32Speaker 8: people thought I was old like I was twenty four.
- 50:33Speaker 8: I was like, nope, I'm probably the same mate supposed to.
- 50:35Speaker 8: These guys went to school for three years, So there's
- 50:37Speaker 8: always something you can improve on. And I think that,
- 50:39Speaker 8: you know, you I always make the joke, you know,
- 50:41Speaker 8: people made fun of JV's left hand that year and
- 50:43Speaker 8: then all of a sudden next year is all he
- 50:45Speaker 8: was doing was dropping left, so you can really improve
- 50:48Speaker 8: your game.
- 50:48Speaker 1: Last question, as a kid watching basketball, like you're Mount Rushmore,
- 50:52Speaker 1: the four players that you watch the most.
- 50:54Speaker 8: It's funny because you're gonna laugh at my names because
- 50:57Speaker 8: none of them were the cool ones, Like I was
- 50:59Speaker 8: a Boris yeahl fan. Wow, Yeah, I was a funny
- 51:03Speaker 8: because Raymond Green with time, it was one of my
- 51:05Speaker 8: favorite players. Honestly, I enjoyed guys that were my position
- 51:09Speaker 8: with my size, so honestly, Chuck Hayes was another name.
- 51:13Speaker 8: And the last one, at least a guy that I
- 51:15Speaker 8: could never play like was Jamal Crawford.
- 51:17Speaker 1: Was there a chance for you to ever with your
- 51:19Speaker 1: first year or two in the league, you ever get
- 51:21Speaker 1: to do something cool like like in the Olympics, we
- 51:23Speaker 1: saw Katie throw out.
- 51:25Speaker 8: Oh, I was there this past year or this year.
- 51:27Speaker 9: I was interviewing the guys.
- 51:28Speaker 8: I have video of me after the game because I
- 51:30Speaker 8: was in Olympics dot Com, so I was able to
- 51:32Speaker 8: be down there after Steph and all those different games.
- 51:34Speaker 8: I was asking questions like part of my French Steve kerrsay,
- 51:39Speaker 8: what that were you doing here?
- 51:40Speaker 9: And I was like, I was like, you know, I'm
- 51:41Speaker 9: just on the media side, have a good time.
- 51:44Speaker 1: Do that in a game there we're like somebody that
- 51:45Speaker 1: was a hero of yours. You you know, throwm an
- 51:48Speaker 1: alu or play against him, and you were like, this
- 51:50Speaker 1: is kind of cool? Is in my life?
- 51:51Speaker 9: First my rookie hero was Kimba Walker.
- 51:53Speaker 8: I grew up in Charlotte, North Carolina, and I watched
- 51:55Speaker 8: Kimball as I grew up, and then all of a sudden,
- 51:57Speaker 8: I get drafted the South as he signs there, Like
- 51:59Speaker 8: I told him worries about how he was at Providence
- 52:01Speaker 8: Day School of working out and I was the ninth
- 52:04Speaker 8: grade kid walked up till introduced myself and he had
- 52:06Speaker 8: no idea and remember it. But he was the nicest
- 52:08Speaker 8: guy to me at basketball Camps two when I was young.
- 52:11Speaker 8: And it's just like I told him, I said, these
- 52:12Speaker 8: things matter. So that's why I try to tell every
- 52:14Speaker 8: rookie like, you never know who you're gonna meet, you
- 52:15Speaker 8: never know who you're gonna talk to, So try to
- 52:17Speaker 8: treat everybody with respect. And at the end of the day,
- 52:20Speaker 8: you might change someone's whole directory of their life. Just
- 52:22Speaker 8: buy one conversation.
- 52:23Speaker 6: That's awesome.
- 52:23Speaker 1: That's how I feel about you and me right now,
- 52:24Speaker 1: you changed my whole. That's one conversation. I appreciate your
- 52:27Speaker 1: till life. The NBA is finally back. A new season

- 53:41Speaker 1: heck of a show. So far. Boys got two final
- 53:43Speaker 1: things to talk about. Number one, the new pickleball rankings
- 53:48Speaker 1: have been released. Casey, do you play pickleball?
- 53:51Speaker 4: I never actually played pickleball, but I dabbled in tennis.
- 53:54Speaker 1: We definitely, I know you've said that before. We definitely
- 53:57Speaker 1: would let you play with us. We're not like having
- 53:59Speaker 1: a group chat and letting you watch us have the
- 54:01Speaker 1: group chat without being a part of it.
- 54:04Speaker 4: Yeah, next time you guys do it, let me know.
- 54:06Speaker 1: Problem is, it gets pretty competitive. You almost need a
- 54:08Speaker 1: couple of Eddie's one of the Goldfitch. I love it, dude,
- 54:10Speaker 1: Well I have to.
- 54:11Speaker 3: I'm I'm the goal and I didn't show up to
- 54:14Speaker 3: the last session, so you've ranked. Obviously, you need to
- 54:18Speaker 3: become a part of us. You's got to get a
- 54:22Speaker 3: couple reps in. Yeah, maybe it's just like.
- 54:24Speaker 1: You come over. We still a little a little hit card,
- 54:27Speaker 1: just a little hit and learn, teaching the teaching, the rules.
- 54:29Speaker 1: Do you know the rules of pick a ball? No?
- 54:31Speaker 3: Have you heard of the kitchen?
- 54:33Speaker 9: No?
- 54:34Speaker 1: Stay out of a mother?
- 54:35Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't even think about it.
- 54:36Speaker 1: Here and I need to do this. I need to
- 54:38Speaker 1: do this. Dramatic for the clip, for the internet clip too.
- 54:43Speaker 1: Here are the new pickleball rankings as of the date
- 54:47Speaker 1: of insert date here. Dramatic thank you. Number one, still
- 54:55Speaker 1: holding me, thank you, No surprise there. Number two country
- 55:02Speaker 1: superstar George Burge, superstard. He's got one number one lead
- 55:10Speaker 1: that in the clip when Eddie, Yeah, number two, more
- 55:13Speaker 1: than we have. Number three, first time on the list.
- 55:20Speaker 1: Music producer Ross Kopperman, Oh wow, yes, first time and
- 55:25Speaker 1: he shows up at number three. He has this three
- 55:28Speaker 1: three appearances, he has this three. You gotta have three
- 55:30Speaker 1: appearances to make the list. He had his third appearance.
- 55:34Speaker 1: You were not there on Sunday. M hm mm hmm.
- 55:38Speaker 1: Ross Copperman probably has like twenty number one songs.
- 55:40Speaker 3: It's a lot of number ones.
- 55:41Speaker 1: At number four, kickoff Kevin number four, though, I'll take that.
- 55:47Speaker 1: I can challenge for three and two.
- 55:49Speaker 5: I'll take that. I had a rough day on Wednesday,
- 55:51Speaker 5: rough day.
- 55:52Speaker 1: Yeah, pounded a pretty good and George yeah yeah, gonna lie.
- 55:56Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 55:57Speaker 1: At number five, he's a human, he's also a Gator. Gator.
- 56:03Speaker 1: Harrison dies at number six of eight the former Goldfish
- 56:13Speaker 1: read you read it, number six and rankings.
- 56:17Speaker 3: I think very good.
- 56:20Speaker 1: At number seven, falling because of injury, Kevin Klue. Now,
- 56:26Speaker 1: he did play in a tournament over the weekend that
- 56:28Speaker 1: wasn't us, and he played pretty well. That doesn't count,
- 56:30Speaker 1: but correct. But he's been injured and he's still, i think,
- 56:33Speaker 1: on one leg, better than the next person. Oh, that's weird.
- 56:37Speaker 1: At number eight, wearing the Goldfish, the lowest last in
- 56:44Speaker 1: the league, the caboose Eddie, everybody, I'm sorry, Eddie, he's
- 56:50Speaker 1: wearing the Goldfish.
- 56:51Speaker 3: I'm coming against you boys, though, I will be coming
- 56:55Speaker 3: doing some training in my backyard. I didn't take much
- 56:58Speaker 3: to take over right in front of me here. Yeah,
- 57:01Speaker 3: I got a wonder guy I got Yeah.
- 57:02Speaker 1: I mean you can move up, you can move on.
- 57:05Speaker 1: So that is the current pickleball list of whatever we
- 57:10Speaker 1: can play whenever, whenever you guys want because our train
- 57:12Speaker 1: I mean clothes out of town for whatever days. Oh,
- 57:15Speaker 1: so we can get him. No, I'm saying we can
- 57:17Speaker 1: play whenever we're normally supposed to work out.
- 57:19Speaker 3: You don't play today?
- 57:21Speaker 1: What time three?
- 57:21Speaker 9: Yeah?
- 57:23Speaker 1: Maybe like two thirty? Okay, could you do that? Yeah?
- 57:26Speaker 1: Possibly falling down the ranks.
- 57:28Speaker 3: That's okay, read the most important question doing.
- 57:32Speaker 1: The podcast with us today. We got to find a
- 57:34Speaker 1: fourth though, that can play normally. We'll see George's into town. Yeah,
- 57:40Speaker 1: I can text Ross. Okay, we'll see what's up.
- 57:43Speaker 9: Let me know.
- 57:43Speaker 1: We'll see if I can find a fourth because we've
- 57:44Speaker 1: got Mike can have a podcast. We have to go
- 57:46Speaker 1: do anyway in a few minutes and then uh and
- 57:48Speaker 1: we're doing one now too. It's all that's all I do. Okay,
- 57:53Speaker 1: So thank you. That's pickleball rankings, and I'm gonna do
- 57:57Speaker 1: one more thing and it's still something I'm dabbling with.
- 58:01Speaker 1: I call it the oddly numbered list. It's a list
- 58:04Speaker 1: of things that just has an odd number to the list.
- 58:07Speaker 1: And my oddly numbered list this week is most irrelevant
- 58:10Speaker 1: NFL teams and the list is well, only four teams.
- 58:15Speaker 1: It's an odd number for a list. I know, these
- 58:19Speaker 1: are the four most irrelevant teams according to me. At
- 58:23Speaker 1: number four, the Raiders. They don't have a quarterback. Well,
- 58:30Speaker 1: and that makes you pretty irrelevant. Yeah that's all you need.
- 58:33Speaker 5: Yeah, that'll do it.
- 58:34Speaker 1: They don't win. That hurts. Also, they're in a city
- 58:40Speaker 1: where there's so much going on. Unless you're really good,
- 58:42Speaker 1: you kind of you just exist. You don't matter. There's
- 58:46Speaker 1: a difference in existing and mattering. And the Raider they
- 58:49Speaker 1: have a star on brock Bowers. They have a star
- 58:51Speaker 1: on Max Crosby. But unless you have a quarterback, you
- 58:55Speaker 1: don't have much. They don't have a coach as far
- 58:58Speaker 1: as like a coach that has any winning under his belt.
- 59:00Speaker 1: I mean he went in as the interim last year.
- 59:02Speaker 1: They have a big owner, the son, the son of
- 59:05Speaker 1: the Tom Brady.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Oh got Tom, which is ironic. No quarterback, but you
- 59:10Speaker 3: got the greatest of all time.
- 59:12Speaker 1: So newe though, he's so new. Number four on my list,
- 59:16Speaker 1: the Raiders. At number three the Titans. Oh, and that's
- 59:19Speaker 1: hard to do because they we can see their freaking
- 59:22Speaker 1: house right here. Well, you look out the window and
- 59:24Speaker 1: there they are. But when you don't win, and even
- 59:29Speaker 1: when they were winning, they were just kind of winning
- 59:32Speaker 1: and they were winning very boring.
- 59:35Speaker 8: They were.
- 59:37Speaker 1: It wasn't there was no nothing dynamic about when even
- 59:40Speaker 1: when the Titans had that decent team, the low like
- 59:44Speaker 1: the the logo the Titan. It's kind of boring.
- 59:47Speaker 3: Now everything's kind of boring. Yeah, when it wasn't before.
- 59:50Speaker 1: Really, yeah, it's all good. It did like nobody cares
- 59:54Speaker 1: about I'll just say us because we're here. Nobody cares
- 59:56Speaker 1: about the Titans, good or bad. Nobody hates the Titans.
- 1:00:00Speaker 1: And unless you're like a super fan, love you live here,
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: nobody loves them. And that's the worst one. There's no
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: feeling about you. You want people to hate you because
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: you you want people to feel at you like I do. Texas.
- 1:00:12Speaker 5: It's like people feel good for them when they win, like,
- 1:00:14Speaker 5: oh good for them.
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: Oh those yeah, I look at you got I know.
- 1:00:18Speaker 1: And that's what the Titans have right now. Number three
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: irrelevant franchises, the Tennessee Titans. Number two the Arizona Cardinals,
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: and you know, they even have a quarterback. But they're
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: in a weird time zone, so that affects when you're
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: not good and they kind of are supposed to be
- 1:00:40Speaker 1: good and then they get a draft pick that's supposed
- 1:00:43Speaker 1: to and they don't even get them the ball. It's
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: just a bunch of weird that. There's always weirdness with
- 1:00:46Speaker 1: that group. They fire Cliff and Cliff Cliff like rebuilds.
- 1:00:51Speaker 1: When they get the grades for like cafeteria food and equipment,
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: they're like d's and f's and it's weird. Like whatever's
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: happening out there is just weird.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: The entire state of Arizona when it comes to sports, like,
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: do you ever really think.
- 1:01:03Speaker 1: About your i' me thinking about that?
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: Now made the World Series and you forget you forget. Yeah,
- 1:01:08Speaker 5: their hockey team left them, they went to Utah.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: Who were they the Coyotes?
- 1:01:12Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 1:01:12Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 1:01:13Speaker 1: And then their basketball team, the whistle Chasers. You don't
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: even know them. Their NBA team, you never heard of them.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: That's how much you don't even know exactly. So the Cardinals,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: and that's a tough one because they do have a quarterback.
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: People should know and feel good, h I.
- 1:01:26Speaker 3: Got a great tight end.
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: Do you have a dude?
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: But Marvin Harrison Junior?
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: They have and they're it's still they're not. Yeah. And
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: number two the Arizona Cardinals, and my number one is
- 1:01:36Speaker 1: obviously and easily the Carolina Panthers. That is a black
- 1:01:41Speaker 1: hole for anybody that goes to that team that has
- 1:01:44Speaker 1: a future ahead of them, because they don't anymore. You
- 1:01:48Speaker 1: want to go there in your twilight years. You want
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: to go there because they'll actually pay for you and
- 1:01:53Speaker 1: other teams won't. And this is no shot like an
- 1:01:55Speaker 1: Adam Deelon because I think I was thinking, like I
- 1:01:58Speaker 1: don't feel it could have gone and been the number
- 1:02:00Speaker 1: four receivers a lot of places. But when he left Minnesota,
- 1:02:04Speaker 1: where did he go to be the number two, one
- 1:02:06Speaker 1: and a half the Panthers because they were gonna pay
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: it because nobody wants to go there, so they'll pay people.
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: Yeah, they want to leave so bad they go to
- 1:02:12Speaker 3: the Cowboys. Johnathan Mingo, your boy Mingo.
- 1:02:17Speaker 1: I like Mingo though, I really do. And I think
- 1:02:19Speaker 1: the reason that some people don't is because he's been
- 1:02:21Speaker 1: a Panther. Sure, Like, don't hold against him what he
- 1:02:25Speaker 1: hasn't been able to do when his whole team hasn't
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: been able to do. Look at Baker, everybody gave up
- 1:02:30Speaker 1: on him. Look at Sam Darnold, everybody gave up on them.
- 1:02:35Speaker 1: I think Johnathan Mingo is going to the Cowboys kind
- 1:02:37Speaker 1: of suck.
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: But but think Cooper Rush and Johnathan Mingo can take
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: us to the playoffs.
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: Trey Lance, if it's Trey Lance, they've given up.
- 1:02:44Speaker 5: Yeah, but it'd be fun. I want to see it.
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: Why not, I can sign up for that. I would
- 1:02:49Speaker 1: like to see it too. But if the Cowboys still
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: want to actually play to try to make the playoffs,
- 1:02:54Speaker 1: which there is an outside shot they can, it's Cooper Rush.
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: Cooper Rush wins games he does he had last year. Yeah.
- 1:03:00Speaker 1: Number one is the Carolina Panthers. Anything going in, I
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: feel bad for you. Anything coming out, I have hope
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: for you. Like I watched and I didn't get to
- 1:03:11Speaker 1: watch a lot of the Panthers game because Brycehyunk started.
- 1:03:13Speaker 1: They won, right, they beat the Saints. I root for Brysyunk,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: same reason I root for these other Mama Jamas I've
- 1:03:19Speaker 1: been talking about people like, no, he sucks. Now, Brycehunk
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: doesn't suck. But I watched one of his interceptions and
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: they're like it was a funny meme, and was like,
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: throws another interception and it's Bryce youungk hitting a guy
- 1:03:30Speaker 1: right in the numbers, him fumbling it and the defensive bout.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: So I was super happy for bryceh I hope he
- 1:03:38Speaker 1: gets out of there, and I hope he's able to
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: have a second life, but a very young second life.
- 1:03:44Speaker 1: Remember Sam Darnold's very young. He's sixteen. It feels like
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: he's fifty one, but he's sixteen years old. Number one
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: most irrelevant is the Carolina Panthers.
- 1:03:53Speaker 5: Yeah, that's fair.
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: Anybody that I left off the list you thought should
- 1:03:56Speaker 1: have been added to the irrelevant list. I considered the Giants,
- 1:03:59Speaker 1: but they're New York, so it doesn't matter.
- 1:04:00Speaker 4: What about the Saints, I f im surprising to put
- 1:04:02Speaker 4: the Saints.
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: Well, they're the greatest Thamember after we two, right after
- 1:04:05Speaker 1: we too. Yeah, they have won a Super Bowl and
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: they have Drew.
- 1:04:09Speaker 5: People still hate the Patriots.
- 1:04:11Speaker 1: Irrelevant, but I think there's a difference. Irrelevance means general disinterest.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I think some people are interested in the Saints losing
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: because its funny because they've been so good for so long,
- 1:04:23Speaker 1: or it's a story because the Saints now excuse me,
- 1:04:26Speaker 1: the Saints of that Patriottriot's now suck. Yeah, So I
- 1:04:29Speaker 1: don't think the Patriots are at all still a little relevant.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: I think they're very relevant. They just aren't good.
- 1:04:35Speaker 4: Yeah, promising.
- 1:04:37Speaker 5: The Jaguars are getting back to where they were.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: They were probably going to be number five for me.
- 1:04:41Speaker 5: Yeah, they're they're back, and it's funny when they lose.
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: I think their colors are so ugly and their logo
- 1:04:46Speaker 1: is terrible.
- 1:04:46Speaker 3: It's the same thing with the one they start winning.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: I'm like, is that gold that color? When they go
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: to England? They know what's up? Yeah, so yeah, that's it.
- 1:05:00Speaker 1: I think we're good, do you guys? Hope you have
- 1:05:02Speaker 1: a great weekend. Thank you for listening to the show.

- 1:05:10Speaker 1: And I'm telling you if you want to win, Nope,
- 1:05:13Speaker 1: can't say that, so I didn't say anything if you
- 1:05:15Speaker 1: want to win it in life focus. My next sentence
- 1:05:19Speaker 1: is what I feel really great about is Tennessee covering
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: that it good in Knoxville at Nielan when Mississippi State
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: comes to town. I feel really good of it about
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: that one. I feel like you can you have extra
