- 0:29Speaker 1: What's up, fool? What's up, fool podcast? Welcome, everybody, to
- 0:32Speaker 1: the What's Up, Fool podcast.
- 0:34Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 0:36Speaker 1: Right now, he's at the Influencers... Convention, man, I'm over
- 0:42Speaker 1: here hating.
- 0:43Speaker 3: You should have just let them.
- 0:44Speaker 1: 250,000 followers. They're just reaching into the bottom of the
- 0:48Speaker 1: barrel here, man, influencers. I thought you had 1.5 million
- 0:53Speaker 1: at least.
- 0:53Speaker 2: For conventions? I think it's like 100,000, 200,000, something like that.
- 0:59Speaker 2: But I'm not an influencer, so I wouldn't know.
- 1:01Speaker 1: But I know that once he hit 200,000, that's when
- 1:05Speaker 1: Hollywood started noticing. Really? He got a manager now.
- 1:10Speaker 2: Really? He just got a manager?
- 1:12Speaker 1: Damn.
- 1:13Speaker 2: I got a manager at 10,000 followers.
- 1:15Speaker 1: Yeah, to 200,000, bro.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I don't think that shit... It sucks that that even matters, man.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Not just... But I love Rizzo. He's very talented. But
- 1:24Speaker 2: the influencer convention is wild, bro. Would you go to
- 1:27Speaker 2: shit like that?
- 1:28Speaker 1: Well, it doesn't... Hell no. But it does matter, though,
- 1:34Speaker 1: because if they're going to pick a movie... And it's
- 1:37Speaker 1: between you and somebody who looks like you, but that
- 1:39Speaker 1: guy has 1.5 million followers.
- 1:41Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah.
- 1:42Speaker 1: And you guys are just as good. They might just
- 1:45Speaker 1: go for the other guy, man.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Because he might mention, I'm right here at the set,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and people are going, I can't wait to watch this movie.
- 1:52Speaker 2: Yeah. You got a guest today, too.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 1:55Speaker 3: When do we get to that? No, I got people watching.
- 1:59Speaker 3: Do you got people watching?
- 2:00Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. I don't know.
- 2:00Speaker 3: We're talking about the guy who's not here.
- 2:02Speaker 1: What's up, people? We have Brad Garrett right here.
- 2:04Speaker 2: Brad Garrett.
- 2:05Speaker 1: On the podcast. Racist. From the Las Vegas Comedy Club.
- 2:10Speaker 1: We're trying to promote Soutra here, man. He's featuring for
- 2:14Speaker 1: Carrot Top.
- 2:15Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's all my fucking, yeah.
- 2:17Speaker 1: We have Orny Adams people here.
- 2:19Speaker 2: Let's go. Orny Adams, doggy.
- 2:22Speaker 1: From that movie Comedian with Seinfeld that made everybody out
- 2:25Speaker 1: there say, I mean, you know what? I could be
- 2:26Speaker 1: a comedian.
- 2:29Speaker 3: I'm responsible for this?
- 2:31Speaker 1: No. No.
- 2:33Speaker 2: But yeah.
- 2:33Speaker 1: But there's a couple of comments that say that that
- 2:36Speaker 1: movie made him want to be a comic. Yeah.
- 2:38Speaker 2: That was a great fucking movie, man. I would say
- 2:41Speaker 2: that I watched it a couple of times, but then
- 2:43Speaker 2: I grew up watching Seinfeld. And then like, yeah, it
- 2:46Speaker 2: is honestly, I watched it before I even wanted to
- 2:48Speaker 2: be a comic. So like, it's cool being here, to
- 2:51Speaker 2: be honest with you.
- 2:52Speaker 3: Well, we've worked together, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah. The Improv.
- 2:54Speaker 2: I host at the Improv a lot. And you're usually
- 2:58Speaker 2: the guy who goes last.
- 2:59Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Because usually they let the stronger comics go last. Or
- 3:05Speaker 2: then like, it's Craig Robinson, because they know he's going
- 3:07Speaker 2: to do like three hours. and I'm allowed to go
- 3:11Speaker 2: home bro that's the only person where like you could
- 3:13Speaker 2: just go home and just let Craig go and he'll
- 3:16Speaker 2: play piano for like two hours and I get to
- 3:17Speaker 2: go home I've never seen it before but it's crazy.
- 3:21Speaker 1: I think Craig is waiting for like I don't know
- 3:25Speaker 1: if he's still at parties or not but when I
- 3:28Speaker 1: used to go to the improv and Craig or somebody
- 3:32Speaker 1: else that plays piano will get on the piano and
- 3:35Speaker 1: they'll start playing the piano forever and then patrons start
- 3:38Speaker 1: leaving And then other people start showing up, and then
- 3:45Speaker 1: shady people start coming in. Then they lock all the doors,
- 3:48Speaker 1: and we start partying until 4 in the morning.
- 3:50Speaker 2: Oh, I've only heard of these parties. I've never experienced them.
- 3:54Speaker 1: You guys are the OGs. I don't know if they
- 3:57Speaker 1: do that anymore, man. Just no fucking way.
- 3:59Speaker 2: No club. Do you feel like clubs close early now, right?
- 4:02Speaker 1: No, of course the club is closed, but the managers,
- 4:05Speaker 1: they're up there counting the money and doing business.
- 4:07Speaker 3: When I work the road, I'm the last one to
- 4:10Speaker 3: leave the club. Right. They're gone. Waitstaff's gone.
- 4:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 4:14Speaker 3: I'm packing the merch up, and I'm like, where is everybody?
- 4:18Speaker 2: I've only heard the stories. I've only been doing like
- 4:20Speaker 2: 15 years. My generation, I've really kind of only heard
- 4:23Speaker 2: the stories of, Oh, we partied till like 9 a.m.
- 4:26Speaker 2: with the staff. No, the staff wants to get the
- 4:29Speaker 2: fuck out of there.
- 4:29Speaker 3: They don't want nothing to do with comedians.
- 4:31Speaker 2: That's for sure.
- 4:33Speaker 3: They're gone. Yeah, we used to hang with the wait staff.
- 4:36Speaker 3: It used to be like more like a family.
- 4:39Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 4:39Speaker 3: It's still a family, but it's not.
- 4:41Speaker 2: A lot of us, I mean, not us, but like
- 4:43Speaker 2: some comics will fuck the staff and then that would
- 4:45Speaker 2: be a whole issue. I feel like then you can't
- 4:46Speaker 2: go back to that market and it's weird.
- 4:49Speaker 3: When did you get to the scene here in Los Angeles?
- 4:53Speaker 1: I started doing open mic at the Natural Fudge. What? Yeah,
- 4:58Speaker 1: the Natural Fudge with Freddie Soto and Brian Holtzman, Jamie Kennedy.
- 5:05Speaker 3: Rest in peace.
- 5:07Speaker 1: Along with Bowden, bro. I was a young comic. I
- 5:09Speaker 1: was doing it for like three years, four. But that's
- 5:12Speaker 1: where I first showed up. I saw it on Ali Weekly.
- 5:15Speaker 1: It said stand-up. I was a young comic, bro. I
- 5:18Speaker 1: was trying to learn stand-up comedy. I joined all the
- 5:22Speaker 1: I went to all the free introduction classes of the
- 5:25Speaker 1: stand-up classes.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:28Speaker 3: What year is this?
- 5:30Speaker 1: Like 95, 94.
- 5:31Speaker 3: Fuck.
- 5:31Speaker 1: Shit, bro.
- 5:33Speaker 3: Were you raised in Los Angeles?
- 5:37Speaker 1: Oh, yeah? All of us were.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Born and raised?
- 5:41Speaker 1: Snuck in, fair and square. No, I came here when
- 5:44Speaker 1: I was like four. I was five. My little brother
- 5:47Speaker 1: was three. But my first kindergarten class, I was in.
- 5:50Speaker 1: It was here, my brother's preschool. I never went to
- 5:53Speaker 1: school in Mexico. No?
- 5:55Speaker 3: Where in Mexico?
- 5:56Speaker 1: Sinaloa.
- 5:58Speaker 3: Any memories? Spanish only spoken in the house?
- 6:03Speaker 1: Spanglish. I was learning like everybody else, you know, who
- 6:08Speaker 1: didn't know literal English and Spanish at the same time.
- 6:11Speaker 2: It's hard to develop an identity to learn both languages.
- 6:15Speaker 2: You become a real dumb idiot. So you get bits
- 6:18Speaker 2: and pieces of real actual Spanglish, so then you just
- 6:21Speaker 2: kind of only be able to talk to other kids
- 6:23Speaker 2: who know Spanglish.
- 6:24Speaker 1: Well, you grew up speaking Hebrew or what?
- 6:26Speaker 3: Well, that's racist.
- 6:28Speaker 1: All right.
- 6:29Speaker 3: Spanish, English, English. Where'd you come up? None of your business.
- 6:37Speaker 2: Oh, shit.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Do you think in Spanish? You guys think in Spanish?
- 6:41Speaker 3: You know what, bro?
- 6:43Speaker 1: I was thinking about that right now because I said
- 6:46Speaker 1: something in reverse. And when I said it in reverse,
- 6:50Speaker 1: I said, wait a minute, that's Spanish.
- 6:52Speaker 2: Okay.
- 6:53Speaker 1: Because I was going on my set and I was
- 6:57Speaker 1: going to say... I was going to say, whatever I
- 7:01Speaker 1: was going to say, but I said it the Spanish
- 7:04Speaker 1: way in English. Okay. Instead of saying, I'm going home
- 7:08Speaker 1: right now, I said it in the Spanish way, which
- 7:13Speaker 1: is the reverse. Okay. I don't know how to say it.
- 7:15Speaker 2: I'm right now going home.
- 7:16Speaker 1: I'm right now going home. Yeah. I'm going home right now. That's, yes.
- 7:21Speaker 3: Don't start me a pluma.
- 7:23Speaker 1: Exactly like that.
- 7:24Speaker 2: Do you speak any Spanish?
- 7:25Speaker 3: Dónde está mi pluma?
- 7:26Speaker 2: Where's your pen?
- 7:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:27Speaker 2: How many times have you gotten your pen taken from you?
- 7:29Speaker 3: Well, when you're young, that's what happens.
- 7:32Speaker 1: He does a lot of Latino rules, bro.
- 7:34Speaker 2: I was curious.
- 7:36Speaker 3: Soy monedero? Soy capitán.
- 7:38Speaker 2: Shut the fuck up.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Soy capitán. Damn it.
- 7:40Speaker 3: Ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, ay, bomba.
- 7:42Speaker 2: Yeah, bomba.
- 7:43Speaker 3: Never question my Spanish.
- 7:44Speaker 1: Never. You know, that was a protest song, what he's singing.
- 7:47Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 7:48Speaker 1: It was a protest song. that the guy made in
- 7:50Speaker 1: his boat, because they were docked without getting paid, and
- 7:55Speaker 1: they were like, they took over the boat, and that
- 7:57Speaker 1: was the song they were singing. And the reason I
- 7:59Speaker 1: know that, because that's the song, because I used this
- 8:02Speaker 1: band that covers this song, and we had to get
- 8:05Speaker 1: clearance for this song. Nope. Way before that. It was
- 8:09Speaker 1: way before that. And shout out to La Cafeteras. Yeah.
- 8:15Speaker 1: So that's a rebellion song, man. Mm-hmm. So you have
- 8:18Speaker 1: a special coming out?
- 8:20Speaker 3: It will eventually.
- 8:21Speaker 1: So you're not.
- 8:23Speaker 3: No, it's shot. It's fully edited. We're just mastering the audio.
- 8:28Speaker 3: So do you know how I sort of sometimes forget
- 8:32Speaker 3: the microphones there and sometimes I speak like, you know,
- 8:35Speaker 3: I'm very off.
- 8:36Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 8:37Speaker 3: Technique with the microphone that I sort of.
- 8:40Speaker 2: Unorthodox a little bit.
- 8:41Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 8:41Speaker 3: So we're mixing the special. We had 16 microphones on me.
- 8:46Speaker 3: We had, like, all these microphones all over the stage
- 8:48Speaker 3: and hanging in a lab in the handheld. And so
- 8:51Speaker 3: we're modulating. So if I'm talking like this, we're moving
- 8:55Speaker 3: every level for every second.
- 8:57Speaker 2: Oh, it's got to be a goddamn nightmare.
- 8:58Speaker 3: It's a nightmare. And I don't think anybody's going to
- 9:01Speaker 3: be able to tell the difference. But I'm like, I'm
- 9:02Speaker 3: going to do it. So I don't know about you. Like,
- 9:05Speaker 3: when you do a special, where's the last special? Where
- 9:07Speaker 3: did it air?
- 9:08Speaker 1: Sacramento.
- 9:09Speaker 3: No, where did it air?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Netflix. Right.
- 9:11Speaker 3: So you know ahead of time, right?
- 9:13Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 9:13Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know ahead of time.
- 9:15Speaker 1: But... I'm going to stay there right now. I didn't
- 9:19Speaker 1: know ahead of time that there was not going to
- 9:20Speaker 1: be an officially Netflix special. It ended up being a
- 9:23Speaker 1: special that Netflix ended up buying. So I didn't get
- 9:28Speaker 1: the full Netflix love.
- 9:30Speaker 2: It gets buried in the algorithm.
- 9:33Speaker 1: Even before that even happened, bro, I didn't get the
- 9:35Speaker 1: billboard in front of the Laugh Factory. Because the billboard
- 9:38Speaker 1: in front of the Laugh Factory, that means your Netflix
- 9:40Speaker 1: special is a Netflix official special. Since mine didn't make
- 9:44Speaker 1: it there.
- 9:46Speaker 2: It was a different special.
- 9:47Speaker 3: And how do you feel about that?
- 9:49Speaker 1: The thing is that people should have told me ahead
- 9:50Speaker 1: of time before I said yes to that.
- 9:54Speaker 3: I mean, I mean.
- 9:55Speaker 1: I would have had a Hulu special, bro, that just
- 9:57Speaker 1: shows up on people's algorithm if you're watching them. documentaries
- 10:02Speaker 1: on burritos in Mexico.
- 10:04Speaker 2: Look, buddy, your special's on Netflix. Mine's on fucking Tubi
- 10:07Speaker 2: with high blood pressure commercials.
- 10:08Speaker 1: But you knew that was going to be on Tubi. Yeah,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I didn't know. You knew that was going to be
- 10:11Speaker 1: a Tubi special.
- 10:13Speaker 3: Did YouTube reject your special?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Nah, nah.
- 10:15Speaker 2: It's Comedy Dynamics. So they end up putting it all
- 10:18Speaker 2: over Tubi, Amazon Prime. But I'm just trying to get
- 10:21Speaker 2: them to look on the bright side. At least it's
- 10:23Speaker 2: on Netflix, you know?
- 10:24Speaker 3: So for people like me, I shoot the special, right? Yeah, independently.
- 10:29Speaker 3: I pay out of pocket. I paid six figures for this.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 10:32Speaker 3: Out of pocket. And then we shop it.
- 10:36Speaker 1: Okay.
- 10:37Speaker 3: And if the Netflix, Hulu, Tudor, whatever, bless you, doesn't
- 10:42Speaker 3: want it, then I throw it up on YouTube, which
- 10:44Speaker 3: isn't a bad place. My last specials, my last few
- 10:47Speaker 3: have ended up there after being on Netflix and Showtime
- 10:50Speaker 3: and Comedy Central, so. We're lucky to have that outlet.
- 10:53Speaker 2: Don't you feel that as soon as you have the
- 10:55Speaker 2: followers and then your actual traffic coming your way that
- 10:58Speaker 2: what's the point of even trying to shop it out?
- 11:00Speaker 2: Why not just keep putting it on YouTube?
- 11:02Speaker 3: Fear. Fear. You know, my last special just hit 8
- 11:06Speaker 3: million on YouTube. Now, if the new special was guaranteed
- 11:11Speaker 3: to do 8 million, I'd throw it up tomorrow. Oh.
- 11:14Speaker 1: Right?
- 11:14Speaker 3: But what if it ends up like other videos I
- 11:17Speaker 3: put up there and it just gets a few thousand?
- 11:20Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 11:20Speaker 3: And then I've spent all this money So I don't
- 11:22Speaker 3: know what's the right thing, what's the wrong thing. You
- 11:24Speaker 3: take all these meetings and, you know, everyone just tells
- 11:27Speaker 3: you everything you're doing wrong. what happens nowadays.
- 11:30Speaker 2: And then that just puts more doubt in your head
- 11:32Speaker 2: versus just like, I guess, I mean, putting it out independently,
- 11:35Speaker 2: just with no fear, but there's that fear is always
- 11:37Speaker 2: going to be there, huh? That never goes away. Well,
- 11:39Speaker 2: I have it right now. I have crippling anxiety about
- 11:41Speaker 2: my special right now. I'm not even producing it.
- 11:44Speaker 3: I shot it last year and I've been sick every
- 11:45Speaker 3: day since.
- 11:47Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 3: What's going to happen. Not only did I throw a
- 11:50Speaker 3: lot of money at this thing and I made it,
- 11:52Speaker 3: you know, I wanted to make it look like, like
- 11:55Speaker 3: it looks like a million dollar special. It looks crazy. Yeah.
- 11:58Speaker 3: And then the material takes me years. Like when you guys, Felipe,
- 12:03Speaker 3: when you guys do specials, how much time in between specials?
- 12:07Speaker 1: Oh, man. I will say to when my phone expires,
- 12:12Speaker 1: you know, the contract.
- 12:14Speaker 3: Oh, that's a good one.
- 12:14Speaker 1: Because I will get a new phone after every special.
- 12:17Speaker 2: So you, every time a new iPhone comes out, you come.
- 12:22Speaker 1: Out and it's special? Yeah, but every time a new
- 12:23Speaker 1: Samsung Plus phone comes out, every two years.
- 12:26Speaker 2: A Felipe 18 Plus?
- 12:27Speaker 1: But this time it's any longer. I did a special,
- 12:31Speaker 1: by the way, that my wife and I, we produced
- 12:33Speaker 1: ourselves with our money. And we ended up shopping around
- 12:37Speaker 1: because before that, everybody was saying no, right? Netflix, everyone
- 12:40Speaker 1: said no. What'd you spend on that one? We spent
- 12:45Speaker 1: like under $ 100, 000, that's for sure. and uh and we
- 12:49Speaker 1: sold it to HBO oh shit for like triple the
- 12:52Speaker 1: money dog like for a year they leased it okay
- 12:55Speaker 1: they paid a lot of money for it.
- 12:57Speaker 3: I'm a big fan of HBO so.
- 12:58Speaker 1: They bought it off me they didn't buy it off
- 13:01Speaker 1: me they leased it off me for triple the money
- 13:03Speaker 1: I paid to get it and um so then they
- 13:07Speaker 1: had it for two years and then the next year
- 13:08Speaker 1: they offered me half of what they offered me the
- 13:11Speaker 1: first time and I said nah I'm good so um
- 13:15Speaker 1: But then it got everybody all excited, right? But then
- 13:19Speaker 1: my next special was a Netflix special.
- 13:23Speaker 2: That's awesome. Why are you a big fan of HBO?
- 13:27Speaker 2: Doesn't it feel like just the relevance versus Netflix? Like,
- 13:31Speaker 2: I don't know. Because you romanticize the old HBO, like that, that.
- 13:37Speaker 2: That doesn't go away. I'm a millennial, so that's still
- 13:39Speaker 2: there for me. But the younger generation doesn't give a
- 13:42Speaker 2: fuck about HBO.
- 13:43Speaker 3: That's true.
- 13:44Speaker 1: The younger generation don't give a fuck about watching a
- 13:45Speaker 1: whole hour. Yeah, exactly.
- 13:47Speaker 3: They're all over it. Mind you, now we're 22.
- 13:48Speaker 1: Oh, my. What? They would have cut that into 52-minute pieces.
- 13:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:53Speaker 2: Yeah. That's going to be 100 reels.
- 13:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:56Speaker 2: Yeah, man.
- 13:56Speaker 1: That's the way to go, bro. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 3: Unfortunately.
- 13:59Speaker 1: That's why I'm talking about that special. It's going to
- 14:00Speaker 1: be 20 minutes.
- 14:02Speaker 2: These kids can't even read, let alone the attention span.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Fuck. I'm so mad. I'm so mad.
- 14:06Speaker 3: This is starting to feel like a meeting. Yeah. That's
- 14:08Speaker 3: exactly what they say. Spend $ 10, 000 and just put it
- 14:12Speaker 3: out and do reels.
- 14:14Speaker 1: There's people who listen to my podcast that I met
- 14:19Speaker 1: at shows. Yeah. He goes, how did you hear about
- 14:22Speaker 1: the show? I listened to the podcast. I wanted to
- 14:25Speaker 1: know how you really sound. He goes, you don't hear
- 14:28Speaker 1: my voice on the podcast? My stand-up? No. I speed
- 14:33Speaker 1: it up because I wanted to. get through it so
- 14:35Speaker 1: fast to get to another one.
- 14:36Speaker 3: Oh. They watch it like two times or something?
- 14:38Speaker 2: Yeah, that concept is new to me.
- 14:39Speaker 1: So young people, they speed up the podcast so they
- 14:43Speaker 1: don't know how to really sound.
- 14:44Speaker 3: I barely understand you in normal time.
- 14:46Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 14:47Speaker 3: You sped up?
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So people slow it down,
- 14:50Speaker 1: they sped it up to get through the podcast real fast.
- 14:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 14:54Speaker 1: So I'm saying they don't have an attention span for
- 14:55Speaker 1: no hour and 22 minutes.
- 14:57Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 14:58Speaker 3: Well, look at this person's comment. It's not hard sitting
- 15:00Speaker 3: through a good comedian like Felipe Zahor. I guess 55.
- 15:04Speaker 3: I got to be honest with you, when I started,
- 15:05Speaker 3: I didn't make it to the end when it was
- 15:06Speaker 3: about you. I thought it was a great comic until
- 15:10Speaker 3: that point. But yeah, I think people sit through a good,
- 15:15Speaker 3: you know, something that builds or something that has some meaning.
- 15:18Speaker 2: Or I feel like if they connect with you, whatever
- 15:20Speaker 2: that perspective is good, I think you're right.
- 15:22Speaker 1: I think the only person that will sit through something
- 15:23Speaker 1: like that is one of those comics that has to
- 15:25Speaker 1: watch every special. I don't know why.
- 15:28Speaker 2: Ah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:28Speaker 1: Except it was Armchair Learning. What are you learning, motherfucker?
- 15:31Speaker 1: How to take jokes?
- 15:33Speaker 2: You could be my best friend in the whole wide
- 15:35Speaker 2: world and you're a comic.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm not.
- 15:37Speaker 2: I got to leave the room a little bit.
- 15:38Speaker 3: I watch the first five, last five, guaranteed. I want
- 15:41Speaker 3: to see how they bring it home. I want to
- 15:44Speaker 3: see what it is. I'd love to see the audience react.
- 15:48Speaker 1: I watch all of Chris Rock's early specials.
- 15:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Yeah, that makes sense.
- 15:52Speaker 1: And I listen to all of Todd Berry's stand-up specials. Huh.
- 15:57Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. He'll be listening to Todd Berry.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 16:01Speaker 2: You're such a layered guy, man.
- 16:02Speaker 3: Really?
- 16:03Speaker 1: I like his monotone is like fucking like brown noise, bro,
- 16:08Speaker 1: when you go to sleep.
- 16:10Speaker 2: White noise you mean?
- 16:12Speaker 1: Yeah, white noise.
- 16:12Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, white noise.
- 16:15Speaker 1: And he stays at the same volume, the same tempo.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Like if you're measuring the volume of the way he talks,
- 16:20Speaker 1: it never goes higher than whoa.
- 16:22Speaker 2: You just called Todd Berry's comedy ASMR.
- 16:26Speaker 1: But like might be like, might be like, hey, whoa, whoa, whoa,
- 16:29Speaker 1: all over the place. You can't. But Todd Berryman, the
- 16:32Speaker 1: jokes are just.
- 16:32Speaker 2: I tell you what, Orny, you really can't fall asleep
- 16:35Speaker 2: to your comedy like that, is what he's saying.
- 16:36Speaker 3: A little too much yelling.
- 16:37Speaker 2: A little too much yelling. You got to get away
- 16:39Speaker 2: from the goddamn mic.
- 16:41Speaker 3: I tried on this special. I'm going to do something new.
- 16:45Speaker 3: I'm going to sit in a chair. And do some
- 16:49Speaker 3: jokes from the chair. And it's really, I find myself
- 16:53Speaker 3: missing when I'm running around like a madman. I enjoy
- 16:56Speaker 3: the intensity by thought.
- 16:57Speaker 1: You know what?
- 16:58Speaker 3: When I'm at clubs or when you come see me,
- 17:00Speaker 3: you know, I sort of texture it. Yeah. I go here.
- 17:04Speaker 1: I go up.
- 17:04Speaker 3: I go down. So sometimes I'll record myself at these
- 17:09Speaker 3: clubs in town or anywhere. I'll go, whoa, that's set.
- 17:14Speaker 3: That's what the special should have been like. And then
- 17:16Speaker 3: I go home and I watch the tape from that
- 17:20Speaker 3: night and I go, this sucks. It's just live comedy
- 17:24Speaker 3: cannot be captured on tape. Full stop. There's no debating that.
- 17:31Speaker 2: It can, but you mean like the feeling of the
- 17:34Speaker 2: energy in the room.
- 17:34Speaker 3: Cannot.
- 17:35Speaker 1: Yeah, the buzz. You know what I mean?
- 17:36Speaker 3: There's too much that's happening, the people around you. You know,
- 17:40Speaker 3: you can select to look at the person to your
- 17:42Speaker 3: right and look forward. Yeah, it just, it doesn't, now,
- 17:47Speaker 3: it captures something different that other people can't see. So
- 17:50Speaker 3: you sort of have to play to the camera and play, hey,
- 17:54Speaker 3: this is a taped comedy performance.
- 17:56Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:57Speaker 2: Did you do much Latino rooms? When did you get
- 18:00Speaker 2: to L.A.? I've done everything. I was out of curiosity
- 18:03Speaker 2: how you know Felipe because I know you know Felipe,
- 18:05Speaker 2: but it's got to be like in my head.
- 18:06Speaker 1: It's a team of the Comedy and Magic.
- 18:09Speaker 2: Comedy and Magic.
- 18:10Speaker 1: Okay.
- 18:11Speaker 2: But I'm just saying, have you ever done like an
- 18:12Speaker 2: East L.A.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Room?
- 18:13Speaker 3: I haven't, but I used to do, like in Atlanta,
- 18:16Speaker 3: I'd do the black rooms. I'd do everything.
- 18:19Speaker 2: Okay. Latino rooms?
- 18:20Speaker 3: Yeah. What is that, doing a commercial?
- 18:23Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. It's like, this is like
- 18:25Speaker 2: the black person tragedy is about to happen sound. Oh.
- 18:30Speaker 2: You're not, it's on Instagram reels and TikTok.
- 18:32Speaker 3: Like, dude, the laugh actor in Corona, isn't that?
- 18:35Speaker 2: Is it Covina?
- 18:36Speaker 1: Covina?
- 18:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:37Speaker 2: I think Corona, I think Corona is about to get
- 18:39Speaker 2: an improv.
- 18:39Speaker 3: Yeah, it's about to get an improv, yeah.
- 18:41Speaker 1: They are?
- 18:41Speaker 3: You done that one?
- 18:42Speaker 1: No, they're about to get it.
- 18:43Speaker 2: Corona's about to get an improv, man. Yeah, I don't,
- 18:46Speaker 2: I don't, I've never been to Corona.
- 18:47Speaker 1: I didn't know how far Corona was to us. I
- 18:49Speaker 1: actually took this. Went to Riverside once. It's fucking far.
- 18:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's funny that you bring up the Laugh Factory COVID
- 18:55Speaker 2: because it is so much different than the one in Hollywood.
- 18:58Speaker 2: It's so much different. It's like half the audience is
- 19:01Speaker 2: like old cholos who want to yell.
- 19:03Speaker 1: I did a show. I did two shows in Las
- 19:05Speaker 1: Vegas last weekend at the MGMX. It's a Copperfield Theater,
- 19:11Speaker 1: but it's called the Club Aces now, but it's still
- 19:14Speaker 1: the Copperfield Theater. It's not there no more. And... Somebody
- 19:22Speaker 1: did a sound check the first night, right? I think
- 19:25Speaker 1: Butch Escobar did a sound check. And so the second night,
- 19:30Speaker 1: no one did a sound check. So, and I asked
- 19:34Speaker 1: the guy, how many people are here? Are there less
- 19:36Speaker 1: people than yesterday? Nah, I was about to say maybe
- 19:38Speaker 1: 50 less. Oh, okay. So I didn't, you know, when
- 19:43Speaker 1: you don't like your set, you try to find all
- 19:45Speaker 1: these excuses in your head. Maybe the reverb was not
- 19:48Speaker 1: that loud. But in my head, that's what I think
- 19:51Speaker 1: it was. You know when you hear your voice? Yeah.
- 19:56Speaker 1: It was low. I couldn't hear my voice. Okay. So
- 19:58Speaker 1: I couldn't hear the laughs.
- 20:00Speaker 3: Oh, shit.
- 20:01Speaker 1: So I couldn't hear the laughs, bro. And there was
- 20:04Speaker 1: a lot of drunk people there, right?
- 20:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 20:06Speaker 1: There was a lady heckling me through the whole show.
- 20:08Speaker 1: And there was a guy talking to me, yelling out,
- 20:10Speaker 1: crowd work. The guy was requesting crowd work, bro. He
- 20:14Speaker 1: was yelling, crowd work.
- 20:16Speaker 2: What the fuck?
- 20:17Speaker 1: Yeah, bro.
- 20:19Speaker 2: We have to correct. It seems like the young Latinos.
- 20:23Speaker 1: So I got mad, bro. I told him he couldn't
- 20:25Speaker 1: suck my.
- 20:25Speaker 3: I don't worry.
- 20:28Speaker 2: These young Latinos seem like they only know stand-up through Instagram.
- 20:32Speaker 2: So therefore, they think everything's a crowd work situation.
- 20:35Speaker 1: My ass.
- 20:36Speaker 2: Where the art becomes done.
- 20:37Speaker 3: My ass. By the way, there's Latino rooms like East LA, right?
- 20:42Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 20:43Speaker 3: And then there's Latino rooms like Albuquerque, New Mexico.
- 20:46Speaker 2: Oh, those are two different.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Two different. That's that club. What's it called? Quesadas? Quesadas.
- 20:51Speaker 3: I was at Quesadas. Listen to this. This has got to.
- 20:54Speaker 1: Become- Shout out to Steve Quesadas.
- 20:57Speaker 3: Breaking Bad. I haven't figured out how to tell this
- 20:59Speaker 3: on stage yet, but this is a true story.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Hit it.
- 21:01Speaker 3: Talking to a guy in the front row, because I
- 21:03Speaker 3: know when the crowd wants crowd work, unlike Felipe, so
- 21:06Speaker 3: I give it to him. I don't even wait for
- 21:07Speaker 3: them to yell it out. I just go for it.
- 21:09Speaker 3: So I'm talking to a guy in the front row.
- 21:11Speaker 3: I hear from the back a guy yells out, ask
- 21:15Speaker 3: him about my cow. I go, what?
- 21:18Speaker 1: I would have moved on.
- 21:20Speaker 3: He said, guy in the front said, he thinks I
- 21:23Speaker 3: stole his cow. I said, well, did you steal his cow?
- 21:27Speaker 3: He goes, no, the cow had wandered off into the street.
- 21:30Speaker 3: I saved the cow. The guy yells, he stole my cow.
- 21:34Speaker 3: Now the guy starts moving, right? Now we've got to fight.
- 21:38Speaker 3: We've got a situation over the cow, the theft of
- 21:43Speaker 3: the cow. They've got to be separated, you know. I go,
- 21:49Speaker 3: this is Albuquerque. Latino room.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 21:54Speaker 1: You know.
- 21:55Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 2: New Mexicans.
- 21:56Speaker 3: I said, let me deliberate. Let me get to the
- 21:59Speaker 3: bottom of this. You know what I mean? Yeah. And
- 22:01Speaker 3: so by the end of the night, we settled it.
- 22:03Speaker 3: And the guy did take the guy's cow, but it
- 22:07Speaker 3: was raining. And he thinks he saved the cow's life.
- 22:09Speaker 3: And then he nursed the cow's back. And then that
- 22:12Speaker 3: guy said, okay, you can have the cow.
- 22:14Speaker 1: I would do that whole.
- 22:15Speaker 3: This is in a comedy show.
- 22:16Speaker 1: I would do that whole story, but in a Christopher
- 22:18Speaker 1: Walken impersonation.
- 22:20Speaker 3: Well, let's see it.
- 22:22Speaker 1: Like, you just go like this. He took the cow.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And the guy said, he's my cow. You know the
- 22:32Speaker 1: way Christopher Walken talked? He took my cow.
- 22:35Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:36Speaker 1: You got a Christopher Walken impression? I don't know, but
- 22:37Speaker 1: you have the forehead for it, you know? Whoa. For real. Like,
- 22:40Speaker 1: Christopher Walken. Like, when I saw you walk in.
- 22:42Speaker 3: For reals.
- 22:43Speaker 1: You could be Christopher Walken, bro. Like, if you do
- 22:46Speaker 1: that same story in a Christopher Walken voice, murder, bro.
- 22:50Speaker 1: That's you right there. You'll murder it, bro. If you
- 22:53Speaker 1: were to do an impersonation of Christopher Walken and your
- 22:57Speaker 1: Albuquerque story, you'd be like, he got me in a
- 23:00Speaker 1: vendetta kind of mood. He took my cow. Why would
- 23:05Speaker 1: he take my cow? Do it, bro. Do it.
- 23:16Speaker 2: I mean, he's coming in. You guys have almost the
- 23:19Speaker 2: same hairline.
- 23:19Speaker 1: But the way you were telling the story, you had
- 23:22Speaker 1: every cadence of Christopher Walken except the voice. You had everything,
- 23:27Speaker 1: even the huh.
- 23:28Speaker 2: I think earlier when you said racism.
- 23:30Speaker 1: No, no, no. Right here when you say huh. Huh.
- 23:33Speaker 1: You just had exactly like I saw Christopher Walken murdering
- 23:37Speaker 1: that cow story, bro, on a talk show. Like, huh,
- 23:41Speaker 1: what's happening now? There's these guys.
- 23:44Speaker 3: So what is the audience seeing right now? The screen
- 23:46Speaker 3: of Christopher Walken?
- 23:48Speaker 1: All of us.
- 23:48Speaker 3: With all of your desktop and everything?
- 23:51Speaker 2: I think he saw himself. Oh, I'm sorry.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Because they already think you're the bad guy because of
- 23:59Speaker 1: that movie anyways.
- 24:02Speaker 2: Well, so that's a bit. So that actually happened there
- 24:05Speaker 2: in case I was?
- 24:06Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 24:07Speaker 3: Okay. I think it's fascinating when you go on the road.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Bro. Yeah.
- 24:10Speaker 3: Just different things happen.
- 24:11Speaker 1: I did a show in Brawley once. Uh-huh. Went up
- 24:15Speaker 1: on stage. That's when all the comics thought they were
- 24:17Speaker 1: cool wearing leather jackets.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Where's this?
- 24:19Speaker 1: Brawley, California. No, Blythe. It was Blythe.
- 24:23Speaker 2: Blythe, California. I was like, what the fuck is Brawley?
- 24:25Speaker 1: So I went up on stage. It was like the
- 24:27Speaker 1: 90s when every stand-up comic thought they were Richard Grieco.
- 24:31Speaker 1: You know, they were wearing those black leather jackets.
- 24:34Speaker 2: Yeah, every comic was trying to be cool.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Almost dice-like and shit. Dice-like. Richard Grieco. I took off
- 24:41Speaker 1: my jacket on stage, and this man... puts on my
- 24:44Speaker 1: jacket and sits down on his chair, bro.
- 24:48Speaker 2: He took, wait, you took your jacket off, he took
- 24:50Speaker 2: your jacket off.
- 24:51Speaker 1: He went up on stage and took my jacket, put
- 24:53Speaker 1: it on, and then sat down in the front and
- 24:55Speaker 1: looked at me like this.
- 24:56Speaker 2: What'd you do?
- 24:58Speaker 1: What do you think I did, bro? I let him
- 25:00Speaker 1: keep my jacket until I got off.
- 25:03Speaker 3: See, that's when you tell the cow story. Do you
- 25:05Speaker 3: know what I mean?
- 25:07Speaker 1: So you know how many cows died? So you know
- 25:09Speaker 1: how many cows died to make that leather jacket, sir?
- 25:13Speaker 1: You know how many vacas? No, bro. When I looked,
- 25:16Speaker 1: I was.
- 25:17Speaker 2: Well, you should have done it.
- 25:18Speaker 1: First of all, I knew.
- 25:19Speaker 3: Look at you throwing in vacas.
- 25:22Speaker 1: I knew.
- 25:22Speaker 3: You speak Spanish, but I didn't think you were going
- 25:25Speaker 3: to pull off a word for cow.
- 25:27Speaker 1: I knew if I fucked him, kicked him in the face,
- 25:30Speaker 1: it's over. And you can't be that comic that kicks
- 25:34Speaker 1: people in the face. You can. Or there was more
- 25:38Speaker 1: community that had to go up.
- 25:40Speaker 2: Who was the comic that had the guitar in Fuck
- 25:42Speaker 2: That Dude Up? Do you remember that?
- 25:43Speaker 3: Oh, I remember that was in Atlanta. Oh, I remember
- 25:45Speaker 3: I saw it in Atlanta, but yeah. But you don't see,
- 25:47Speaker 3: all you see is the guy rushes the stage and
- 25:50Speaker 3: he goes, oh yeah.
- 25:51Speaker 2: Fucks him up with the guitar.
- 25:53Speaker 3: And all you see comes back is just the neck.
- 25:55Speaker 3: The body of the guitar is gone. That was the
- 25:58Speaker 3: first comedian viral video.
- 26:01Speaker 2: You ever had to put yourself in an instance like that?
- 26:03Speaker 2: Like had to get violent?
- 26:04Speaker 1: No.
- 26:05Speaker 2: Well, just because you're, I wasn't sure because you're like,
- 26:07Speaker 2: you're theatrical on stage. So I wasn't sure.
- 26:09Speaker 1: Yeah, no, no, no.
- 26:10Speaker 3: Because I'm not, I don't really attack people. Like I
- 26:12Speaker 3: sort of like, I have fun. But yeah, there it is.
- 26:16Speaker 1: I like when he talks to that lady after he
- 26:18Speaker 1: hits him.
- 26:18Speaker 3: He was asking for it. And then he tries to
- 26:20Speaker 3: continue the show.
- 26:21Speaker 2: There's no way you continue the show after.
- 26:24Speaker 1: Is it an extra guitar or a dime?
- 26:26Speaker 2: Well, if you'd have kicked that fool in the head. Actually,
- 26:29Speaker 2: Latino show.
- 26:30Speaker 3: Yeah, it is the right one.
- 26:30Speaker 2: That's the correct one. You just got to give it
- 26:32Speaker 2: a minute. I don't even know his act, but I
- 26:36Speaker 2: like this guy so much.
- 26:38Speaker 3: Here we go. Oh, hell yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 26:39Speaker 2: Brutal as fuck.
- 26:41Speaker 1: Oh, man.
- 26:47Speaker 3: The back part came out, dog. That was unnecessary.
- 26:52Speaker 1: I'm sorry, man. The guy fucking came at me.
- 26:55Speaker 2: You know what makes him even cooler?
- 27:01Speaker 3: Where's this guy now?
- 27:03Speaker 2: I want to know.
- 27:03Speaker 1: I don't know. Is that Harry Basil? I don't know,
- 27:06Speaker 1: but that's a good commercial for members-only jacket.
- 27:09Speaker 2: That's a great members-only jacket commercial, dog. There's no way. Well,
- 27:15Speaker 2: I came up in Modesto, so I had a lot
- 27:17Speaker 2: of that. I had a lot of bar guys, like Cholo's,
- 27:20Speaker 2: fresh out of jail, coming to an open mic, trying
- 27:23Speaker 2: to fight.
- 27:23Speaker 1: Have you seen the one where that guy's doing karaoke
- 27:25Speaker 1: and he's doing Sweet Caroline, and that guy comes from
- 27:29Speaker 1: behind and grabs his feet and drops them?
- 27:31Speaker 3: No.
- 27:32Speaker 2: No, I have not seen that.
- 27:33Speaker 3: No, no.
- 27:34Speaker 1: How about the one in San Diego where that guy,
- 27:36Speaker 1: the old man is coming at him, and he gives
- 27:39Speaker 1: them a Sparta kick to the face.
- 27:41Speaker 2: Oh, that's the Las Vegas one, right?
- 27:43Speaker 3: I think some of this is staged.
- 27:45Speaker 2: You think some of it's staged?
- 27:47Speaker 1: Las Vegas kicks, old man.
- 27:49Speaker 2: The unfortunate thing is that I feel like people have
- 27:52Speaker 2: figured out the reality TV method that it's all staged.
- 27:57Speaker 2: So it's just down to the real. So everyone's staging everything.
- 28:00Speaker 3: Stand-up comedy, Felipe, it's become wrestling.
- 28:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 28:06Speaker 2: Yeah, well, you're a character now. You can't just be funny.
- 28:08Speaker 3: You've got to have feuds. You've got to have feuds
- 28:10Speaker 3: with other comedians. You've got to have feuds. We've got
- 28:12Speaker 3: a feud coming up. We're not going to discuss it today,
- 28:14Speaker 3: but we're schedule one for next month.
- 28:16Speaker 2: The Christopher Walken thing.
- 28:17Speaker 3: We're mad at you about that.
- 28:18Speaker 1: You can do it, bro.
- 28:21Speaker 2: He's still pretty sure. He's tagging you up right now.
- 28:23Speaker 2: You do the fucking impression.
- 28:25Speaker 3: Jay Moore does a great Christopher Walken. So, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 3: that's his territory. You know, I can't impede on Jay Moore.
- 28:33Speaker 1: You can't. He does a good Al Pacino.
- 28:38Speaker 3: Who?
- 28:39Speaker 1: Jay Moore.
- 28:40Speaker 2: Well, Jay Moore does a good a lot of impressions.
- 28:42Speaker 1: He does a funny story about throwing a rock at
- 28:44Speaker 1: a bird, and then he was going to throw another rock,
- 28:49Speaker 1: and Al Pacino stops Jay Moore's hand from throwing that rock,
- 28:52Speaker 1: and he does a whole impersonation about, he goes, I
- 28:57Speaker 1: don't know, I can't do an impersonation of Al Pacino,
- 29:00Speaker 1: but I'll try. Let's hear this one. He goes, you
- 29:02Speaker 1: hit that bird with a rock. Bird dies. Baby bird
- 29:07Speaker 1: waiting for him. Now what?
- 29:09Speaker 2: He's got a light lined up right here.
- 29:11Speaker 1: Here it is, bro. Good night, moon.
- 29:12Speaker 3: Good night, moon. Good night, cow jumping over the moon.
- 29:15Speaker 3: Good night, noises.
- 29:17Speaker 1: There it is.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Children, scooch.
- 29:19Speaker 1: It was a cow, see?
- 29:20Speaker 3: Don't make me tell you again about the scooching.
- 29:22Speaker 1: The cow.
- 29:23Speaker 2: And then Maggie, the little baby.
- 29:24Speaker 1: If I watch him, I could do it.
- 29:26Speaker 2: Can you?
- 29:27Speaker 1: Yes.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But my favorite sentence.
- 29:31Speaker 1: I'm not mocking you, sir. Oh, good.
- 29:32Speaker 3: They fixed the camera angle.
- 29:33Speaker 1: And you meet him.
- 29:33Speaker 3: What have you ever done to Christopher Walken impression?
- 29:38Speaker 2: Happened to me.
- 29:38Speaker 1: He's spitting all over my face.
- 29:40Speaker 3: For somebody that's not moving, this camera angle. I mean,
- 29:42Speaker 3: the camera works horrendous. You're going to eat my right hand.
- 29:44Speaker 3: You're going to eat my service revolver.
- 29:46Speaker 2: What is this, serious?
- 29:47Speaker 1: And I go to talk. Oh, man.
- 29:49Speaker 2: So literally, nothing I say is on mic at all.
- 29:53Speaker 2: So being from New Jersey, my way of dealing with
- 29:55Speaker 2: this is I pick up a rock to throw it
- 29:57Speaker 2: at the seagulls.
- 29:57Speaker 1: To kill them. Oh, this whole fucking story. I want
- 29:59Speaker 1: to work.
- 29:59Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 30:00Speaker 1: And I pick up a rock. I turn.
- 30:02Speaker 3: I played center field in high school.
- 30:03Speaker 2: Are we just waiting on the impression?
- 30:04Speaker 1: I can gun it. He's got a cannon.
- 30:06Speaker 3: Like Raul Monacy from the track.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Remember that arm? Oh, yes.
- 30:09Speaker 2: So I'm on the Warren track, and I just bring
- 30:11Speaker 2: my arm back to throw it at this bird. And
- 30:12Speaker 2: I just feel something around my neck.
- 30:15Speaker 1: And the next thing you know, I'm laying on my
- 30:17Speaker 1: back on the rock jetty, looking up at Al Pacino.
- 30:20Speaker 3: He choked me out.
- 30:23Speaker 1: Al Pacino, rear naked. Like, I'm a fighter.
- 30:25Speaker 3: I coach fighting. What?
- 30:27Speaker 1: And Al Pacino just comes in behind me and just
- 30:30Speaker 1: like no time to tap. I'm just, my back's wet.
- 30:32Speaker 3: I'm on a jetty.
- 30:34Speaker 1: And he's tiny.
- 30:35Speaker 3: He's like, yes, he's super tiny.
- 30:37Speaker 1: He's down right, as Russell Bryan would say, he's the confusion.
- 30:41Speaker 2: And I come to, I'm out for like a split second.
- 30:44Speaker 2: I open my eyes and he's standing over me and.
- 30:45Speaker 1: He goes like this.
- 30:46Speaker 3: He goes, don't do that.
- 30:48Speaker 2: What if that bird has babies?
- 30:50Speaker 3: Yeah!
- 30:53Speaker 2: That was his way of saying, don't throw a rock
- 30:56Speaker 2: at a bird.
- 30:56Speaker 1: What's the matter with you? Don't do that.
- 30:59Speaker 2: He didn't say that bird.
- 31:00Speaker 3: I just added it for the story to make it easier.
- 31:02Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 31:03Speaker 2: What if he has babies? Don't do that.
- 31:05Speaker 3: What if he has babies? And for the next hour,
- 31:10Speaker 3: he is lecturing me between every take.
- 31:12Speaker 1: He's like, and cut.
- 31:13Speaker 3: Are you the guy?
- 31:15Speaker 2: The reason those baby birds don't have a father? I mean,
- 31:17Speaker 2: it's just way out of my forte, dog.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Later on, he.
- 31:23Speaker 1: After telling the story, Jay Moore has a guest on
- 31:28Speaker 1: his podcast, and he gives him a book that Al
- 31:31Speaker 1: Pacino wrote. And that guy has a chapter saved for
- 31:35Speaker 1: Jay Moore to read. And in that chapter, Al Pacino
- 31:39Speaker 1: is talking about being a little kid and his mom
- 31:42Speaker 1: rescuing this bird. Yeah. Rescuing this bird back to life.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Okay.
- 31:48Speaker 1: And the bird would fly around the whole house. And
- 31:50Speaker 1: one day, the bird flew away. So I'm pretty sure
- 31:55Speaker 1: that bird was in his head when he grabbed fucking
- 31:58Speaker 1: Jay Moore's fucking arm. Hey, that bird might have babies.
- 32:05Speaker 1: You remember any celebrities besides like hung out with them?
- 32:09Speaker 3: No.
- 32:10Speaker 1: Like play basketball with them?
- 32:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I used to play basketball with the comedians.
- 32:14Speaker 1: Which ones? Sully McCullough? It was all of us.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Every Sunday at Gary Shandling's house.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Well, Sully McCullough, right?
- 32:21Speaker 3: Sully played basketball. Wayne Fetterman, Adam Sandler, Sacha Baron Cohen.
- 32:30Speaker 1: None of those fools ever hooked you up, man. No.
- 32:33Speaker 3: I played basketball on Funny People. Will Ferrell.
- 32:36Speaker 1: They didn't throw you one bone, man.
- 32:37Speaker 3: No, nobody's helped me. This is actually the first comedian.
- 32:40Speaker 1: Oh, fuck that basketball game, bro. Basketball game is for
- 32:43Speaker 1: paper game shit.
- 32:45Speaker 3: Who helps who in this business?
- 32:46Speaker 1: That's what I want to know. Who's helped you? A
- 32:48Speaker 1: lot of people, bro. You've helped me by watching you
- 32:50Speaker 1: on that movie, watching you, how you write and Saved
- 32:54Speaker 1: everything in fucking, oh, this is my fucking quinceañera jokes.
- 33:00Speaker 1: This is my wedding stuff. Willie Barsana, bro, as bad
- 33:04Speaker 1: as he is, he was instrumental for the first three
- 33:07Speaker 1: years of my life. Alonzo Bowden, he put me in
- 33:11Speaker 1: the right direction, told me how to act on Last
- 33:13Speaker 1: Comment Standing so I could get a lot of attention.
- 33:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but I've had an influence on your career, but
- 33:22Speaker 3: I haven't helped you. I haven't done anything. Like, comics
- 33:24Speaker 3: don't really help other comedians.
- 33:27Speaker 1: It's interesting. Actually, people who gave me money to open
- 33:31Speaker 1: up for them, like George Lopez.
- 33:33Speaker 2: Yeah. You didn't have anything like that? You didn't like
- 33:36Speaker 2: opening for people?
- 33:36Speaker 1: But see, white comedians, man, I heard from other white
- 33:39Speaker 1: comics that white comedians, you know, like when we backstab,
- 33:43Speaker 1: when Latinos backstab each other or talk shit about each
- 33:46Speaker 1: other or white, black comics like Cat Williams, you know,
- 33:49Speaker 1: when they fucking are open about talking about another black comic.
- 33:52Speaker 1: They're really open. But white comics are not like that, bro.
- 33:56Speaker 1: And I learned from another older white comic, oh, bro,
- 33:58Speaker 1: we do all that same thing you guys do.
- 34:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 34:00Speaker 1: The white comic, we work in silence. We do everything
- 34:06Speaker 1: behind the curtain. We do everything behind their backs. There
- 34:08Speaker 1: just doesn't seem to be beef amongst it. Straight up,
- 34:12Speaker 1: this white comedian told me, I knew this comic that
- 34:15Speaker 1: was about to do his first movie, and he fucking
- 34:18Speaker 1: invited like 10 people white comics to go audition for
- 34:22Speaker 1: the movie just so he could be there and get
- 34:25Speaker 1: all excited and not get any roles. Between you white comics, bro,
- 34:31Speaker 1: I can't be the guy that opens up the gates.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Start it.
- 34:34Speaker 1: No, bro.
- 34:35Speaker 3: This guy is.
- 34:36Speaker 1: Trying to get his career back. You can't, dude.
- 34:39Speaker 2: You can't.
- 34:39Speaker 1: This guy's trying to get his career back, bro.
- 34:42Speaker 3: Oh, this is, you got it. Now you got to
- 34:44Speaker 3: say it. You know what I mean? It's like the barrio.
- 34:48Speaker 3: You can't start a story.
- 34:49Speaker 1: Latino comedy don't work that way, man. I mean, my generation,
- 34:53Speaker 1: the generation before me, was heartthrob, like backstabbing and shit.
- 34:58Speaker 1: Latinos thought that they think that if one makes it,
- 35:02Speaker 1: that means that they're going to close the door for
- 35:04Speaker 1: another 20 years.
- 35:07Speaker 3: I'll say this. Russell Peters.
- 35:09Speaker 1: Okay.
- 35:10Speaker 3: Very supportive of my special and gave some money financially.
- 35:15Speaker 3: So I think that's an example. There you go.
- 35:17Speaker 2: That's a great example.
- 35:18Speaker 3: Great example.
- 35:18Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:19Speaker 3: And yeah, there are, I like to focus on the
- 35:22Speaker 3: people that haven't.
- 35:24Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 35:24Speaker 3: You know, and I think it's interesting. I'm not competitive.
- 35:28Speaker 1: Do you know what I mean?
- 35:28Speaker 3: Like, anybody can open for me. I'm not worried. You
- 35:32Speaker 3: can have your shot. You can have your shot. I
- 35:34Speaker 3: don't feel like you're going to take away from what
- 35:36Speaker 3: I do. You know what I mean? Now, if Christopher
- 35:38Speaker 3: Walken started to do stand-up, okay, now I got beat.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Now I got to worry. You know what I'm saying?
- 35:44Speaker 1: You got me in a very kind of mood. You
- 35:47Speaker 1: tell the angel that having that.
- 35:49Speaker 3: Like, if we were up for a part and you
- 35:52Speaker 3: got it, congratulations. You really don't have that. I'll get
- 35:55Speaker 3: the next one. No, I'm not competitive. In that sense. Really?
- 35:58Speaker 3: In that sense. I don't... Yeah, I don't. I never
- 36:02Speaker 3: looked at other people's successes and thought it was a
- 36:05Speaker 3: reflection of my talent. I thought my day will come.
- 36:08Speaker 3: I'm not thinking that as much as I once did
- 36:10Speaker 3: as I get older and.
- 36:11Speaker 2: I haven't come yet. Yeah, that goes away a little bit.
- 36:12Speaker 3: But at some point, maybe it will come.
- 36:14Speaker 2: The gray hairs start to come in.
- 36:15Speaker 1: You're like, fuck that. I've been to auditions, bro, where
- 36:17Speaker 1: all the Latino comedians are in there, bro. Fucking Paul Rodriguez,
- 36:20Speaker 1: Issa Morales... Cheech. Everybody's in there, bro.
- 36:24Speaker 3: Chong?
- 36:26Speaker 1: No, he's not up to that, bro. Hold on.
- 36:30Speaker 3: No call Cheech without Chong?
- 36:32Speaker 1: Yeah, bro. I go outside. They ask for Rick Marin.
- 36:35Speaker 1: And I went outside, bro, and I'm thinking, man, I
- 36:36Speaker 1: hope that roof collapse. Oh, no.
- 36:43Speaker 3: Here we go.
- 36:47Speaker 2: But I do feel like whatever beef you guys had
- 36:49Speaker 2: in your past does end up, you guys... have softened
- 36:53Speaker 2: now because now you guys are the ones helping the
- 36:56Speaker 2: younger Latino generation.
- 36:58Speaker 1: Put me in your show, man.
- 37:00Speaker 2: He's already exposing himself. He's being nice to all the
- 37:03Speaker 2: young Latinos.
- 37:04Speaker 1: Put me in your show.
- 37:04Speaker 2: Put me in your show.
- 37:05Speaker 1: I'll tell you what, bro. He's not wrong. I did
- 37:09Speaker 1: Snow the Product, the rapper. You should do her podcast.
- 37:13Speaker 1: I did her podcast, and then I did Duno's podcast
- 37:18Speaker 1: with Jakarta. And, bro, I've gotten more followers from doing
- 37:22Speaker 1: that podcast than I have on Joe Rogan Experience, and
- 37:25Speaker 1: I've done that twice.
- 37:26Speaker 2: Well, that makes sense, though. The Joe Rogan Experience.
- 37:28Speaker 1: People are fucking stingy with their followers, people over 40.
- 37:31Speaker 2: The Jorokin experience is like, I mean, that's like a
- 37:34Speaker 2: specific fan. And so is Dono's and so is Snow
- 37:37Speaker 2: the Product. These are Latino Gen X. They're going to
- 37:41Speaker 2: obviously follow you because you're funny. And I hate to
- 37:43Speaker 2: make it a race thing, but it is that. The
- 37:45Speaker 2: majority of people coming to your show are going to
- 37:47Speaker 2: be Mexican. The majority of people coming to your show
- 37:49Speaker 2: are going to be white.
- 37:52Speaker 1: White people on bike tickets they're gonna be Greek bro.
- 37:55Speaker 2: So the one time we did the fucking mothership I
- 37:58Speaker 2: told you this already and this is not a slight
- 37:59Speaker 2: against the mothership but when we did that weekend it
- 38:02Speaker 2: was Mexican every seat was Mexican but then we did
- 38:06Speaker 2: then I later on did the little boy and it
- 38:09Speaker 2: was the whitest room that's ever been.
- 38:10Speaker 3: You know what I like I like the Mexicans in
- 38:12Speaker 3: the audience wearing the sunglasses yeah Yeah.
- 38:15Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 38:16Speaker 2: Blind Mexicans.
- 38:17Speaker 3: Those are my favorite.
- 38:19Speaker 1: I'm like, those come with a dog.
- 38:21Speaker 2: No, they don't come with a dog. They came with
- 38:24Speaker 2: their dogs. They didn't come with a dog. But no, yeah,
- 38:27Speaker 2: you're right. The cholos who can't help but look cool indoors.
- 38:30Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't use the C word, but yeah.
- 38:32Speaker 2: You don't use cholos?
- 38:33Speaker 1: Say it, say it. Cholos for chomos.
- 38:35Speaker 3: No, we're live.
- 38:37Speaker 2: We're live.
- 38:39Speaker 3: I am not going to get canceled over the C word.
- 38:41Speaker 2: You ever been with a Latina? Of course.
- 38:44Speaker 1: Ooh.
- 38:45Speaker 3: Of course.
- 38:46Speaker 1: Okay.
- 38:46Speaker 2: Like a relationship or just?
- 38:49Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure. Yeah.
- 38:52Speaker 1: Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. How long were you doing stand-up
- 38:55Speaker 1: comedy when they picked you to do that movie, Comedian?
- 38:58Speaker 3: That was so long ago. You know that was before 9-11?
- 39:00Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 39:01Speaker 3: The one where they took out the building?
- 39:02Speaker 1: We were dying to have this interview and this podcast.
- 39:05Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah.
- 39:07Speaker 2: Yeah. I know it was a long time ago, but
- 39:10Speaker 2: he's just curious.
- 39:11Speaker 3: Yeah, what's your question?
- 39:12Speaker 1: How long were you doing stand-up comedy?
- 39:13Speaker 3: Ten years.
- 39:14Speaker 1: Ten years. Me too. Probably.
- 39:16Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 39:17Speaker 2: That was the question.
- 39:17Speaker 3: How old are you?
- 39:18Speaker 1: I'm fucking 50, bro.
- 39:20Speaker 3: Wow. And no gray hair?
- 39:23Speaker 1: Bro, look at this right here. It's there.
- 39:25Speaker 3: Little dye, little dye, the tips dyed.
- 39:27Speaker 1: No, not the tips right here. Just right here.
- 39:29Speaker 2: Yeah, gray hair.
- 39:30Speaker 3: And it just stops?
- 39:31Speaker 1: It stops right there, bro.
- 39:31Speaker 3: Little color, little color.
- 39:32Speaker 1: And then a little color right here.
- 39:33Speaker 3: Little color.
- 39:34Speaker 1: And a beard, bro, because I don't want to look
- 39:36Speaker 1: like Jepet or like Joe Coy, bro. You see him?
- 39:38Speaker 1: Have you seen Joe Coy's special, bro? He's fucking bald.
- 39:42Speaker 1: He has a little beard. He looks like the old
- 39:44Speaker 1: man from My Fair Martian. Show My Fair Martian and
- 39:47Speaker 1: show Joe Coy.
- 39:51Speaker 3: Are you friends with Joe Coy or are we starting
- 39:53Speaker 3: to beef?
- 39:53Speaker 1: I'm not friends. Bro, just because I set an example
- 39:57Speaker 1: doesn't mean that guy, we have beef. Look at this.
- 40:00Speaker 1: Now show my furry Martians. He boom. Like, dude, I
- 40:04Speaker 1: don't want to look like a guy that's going to
- 40:06Speaker 1: steal real estate from me, bro, that's going to send
- 40:08Speaker 1: me in a coat. You know what I mean?
- 40:11Speaker 2: I think that answers your question.
- 40:13Speaker 1: I don't want to look like Pit Bull with slanted eyes, bro.
- 40:16Speaker 3: Sounds like there's some beef going on.
- 40:18Speaker 1: I don't want to be Fit Boo. I don't want
- 40:21Speaker 1: to be a buck loud, bro. You know what I mean?
- 40:23Speaker 3: Those guys don't look anything alike.
- 40:26Speaker 2: He thinks so.
- 40:27Speaker 1: Look, show my favorite Martian in Fast and the Rich
- 40:30Speaker 1: Man High.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Throw that guy through AI and put a Dodgers hat
- 40:35Speaker 3: on him. Give him a goatee. Then we'll be able
- 40:38Speaker 3: to tell.
- 40:38Speaker 2: Then we'll be good.
- 40:39Speaker 3: Yeah, then we'll know.
- 40:40Speaker 2: Yeah, that'd answer your question about the beef there, Ernie.
- 40:42Speaker 1: I guess there's a beef. There's no beef. I'm vegan. Boom,
- 40:46Speaker 1: there it is. That's what I'm talking about.
- 40:48Speaker 2: I'm vegan, fool.
- 40:48Speaker 1: That's what I'm talking about.
- 40:50Speaker 2: Oh, I see it now. Just a little bit of stubble. Yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 2: that dude looks more Filipino on that other look at it.
- 40:55Speaker 3: What's this beef over? Let me settle this, because I
- 40:57Speaker 3: settled a cow dispute in New Mexico. Nuevo, Mexico. All settled.
- 41:03Speaker 3: I know Joe. I text with him.
- 41:06Speaker 1: Well, you should ask him this. You can text him
- 41:08Speaker 1: right now. How come you try to get Felipe's wife
- 41:11Speaker 1: fired at the Laugh Factory?
- 41:13Speaker 3: Oh, so that's where it comes from.
- 41:15Speaker 1: No, text him, bro. Don't be a pussy. Text him now.
- 41:18Speaker 3: Well, I don't.
- 41:19Speaker 1: Oh, you're going to rank out, bro. I'm honest. Text
- 41:22Speaker 1: him right now. Tell me who the person. You text
- 41:24Speaker 1: him right now. Don't be a fag, bro. You fucking
- 41:26Speaker 1: text him right now. Text him. I'm on it. I
- 41:30Speaker 1: came out.
- 41:30Speaker 3: Okay, I didn't think this was a real beef. Now
- 41:32Speaker 3: I don't want to get involved with the real beef. No,
- 41:36Speaker 3: we'll ask him in person.
- 41:37Speaker 1: That's what I thought.
- 41:38Speaker 3: No, don't do this.
- 41:39Speaker 1: No, I thought you were going to text him. You
- 41:42Speaker 1: wanted to be honest. You wanted to be honest. I
- 41:46Speaker 1: told you. No, I told you. This is the What's
- 41:50Speaker 1: Up Food podcast. What's Up Food. Text him then.
- 41:52Speaker 3: I would feel uncomfortable. approaching Joe about trying to get
- 41:57Speaker 3: your wife fired.
- 41:58Speaker 1: Bro, we have a darling number, bro. You could call
- 42:01Speaker 1: this number.
- 42:02Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Bro, he tried to get my wife fired, bro, because
- 42:06Speaker 1: I caught him and Darren Carter five nights in a
- 42:10Speaker 1: row watching Chocolate Sunday like this and then not going up,
- 42:15Speaker 1: not going up. And then I started watching this old
- 42:19Speaker 1: pattern that one day I text, Hey, man, I don't
- 42:23Speaker 1: know what's going on, but I saw Joe Coy and
- 42:25Speaker 1: Derek Carter watching Black Chocolate Sunday nine weeks in a row.
- 42:29Speaker 1: And then later on, people started adding stuff. Oh, maybe
- 42:32Speaker 1: they're stealing jokes. And I said, no, they're not. They're
- 42:34Speaker 1: just there watching a show with all black people. And
- 42:39Speaker 1: then he got mad. And then he called on Jamie
- 42:43Speaker 1: Masala and tried to get her fired from the Laugh Factory.
- 42:46Speaker 2: Just because of a comment you said?
- 42:47Speaker 1: Yeah, and then Jamie Masala called me crying and apologizing
- 42:50Speaker 1: after he banned him. From the Laugh Factory.
- 42:53Speaker 3: What was your wife doing at the Laugh Factory?
- 42:55Speaker 1: Working there as a waitress. Single mom. Okay. Okay. Trying
- 42:59Speaker 1: to feed her family. Looks familiar. Right here. That's her
- 43:02Speaker 1: right there. Oh, yeah.
- 43:03Speaker 3: No, I saw on the way in.
- 43:04Speaker 1: Now she's directed three specials.
- 43:06Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 43:07Speaker 2: I'm all horny right now.
- 43:07Speaker 3: I never tried to get her fired.
- 43:09Speaker 2: I'm all horny right now.
- 43:10Speaker 3: But I didn't know.
- 43:11Speaker 1: Let me ask you a question. There's no beef, but
- 43:14Speaker 1: I know that when I walk into a room, that
- 43:17Speaker 1: motherfucker leaves. You know what I mean?
- 43:18Speaker 3: Are you sure?
- 43:19Speaker 1: Bro, Jamie McStuffin told me. But with his own mouth.
- 43:23Speaker 3: Okay. But if you talk to, you should talk to Joe.
- 43:26Speaker 1: You should. Because there may be something different to the story.
- 43:28Speaker 1: Call him right now. I don't have a number. Give
- 43:30Speaker 1: me a number. I don't have a number.
- 43:31Speaker 2: I'll call him right now.
- 43:33Speaker 1: Give me a number. You have a number? I'll call
- 43:34Speaker 1: him right now. 555. No.
- 43:35Speaker 3: I didn't wait.
- 43:40Speaker 1: We'll put his number up on a podcast. That's our
- 43:42Speaker 1: fast car.
- 43:42Speaker 3: Here, man. I'm going to say it just so I'm
- 43:44Speaker 3: on the record. I'm not getting in the middle of
- 43:45Speaker 3: the speech.
- 43:46Speaker 2: I know, but look, here's the thing. Brother, I've known
- 43:48Speaker 2: Felipe for like three, four years now. I've never seen
- 43:51Speaker 2: him this spicy, dog.
- 43:52Speaker 3: He's fired up.
- 43:53Speaker 2: I fucking love him.
- 43:54Speaker 1: Get him fired up. He took the mic away, bro.
- 43:56Speaker 1: Come on, bro. This is an elephant in the closet.
- 44:00Speaker 3: You got serious, bro.
- 44:02Speaker 2: I didn't know what to do.
- 44:03Speaker 1: I was like. This is an Elephant in the Closet podcast.
- 44:06Speaker 1: All I have to say is we're exposing the Felipe's fear.
- 44:09Speaker 2: I love it to death.
- 44:10Speaker 3: I want to say this. Steve Byrne had beef with
- 44:13Speaker 3: me for over 20 years. Something that happened in the
- 44:16Speaker 3: green room in New Jersey back in the early days.
- 44:19Speaker 3: And one day he approached me and he said, you know,
- 44:23Speaker 3: I'm mad at you about such and such. And I said,
- 44:26Speaker 3: I have no idea what you're talking about. I have
- 44:28Speaker 3: no clue what you're talking about. And I'm not even
- 44:30Speaker 3: sure it happened or the slight happened, but we spoke,
- 44:34Speaker 3: and now we're like good friends. And so I think
- 44:37Speaker 3: maybe there could be a slight telephone miscommunication. I don't know.
- 44:42Speaker 3: But you think Joe wanted to get your wife fired
- 44:48Speaker 3: because of, say it again, because two people were watching
- 44:52Speaker 3: Chocolate Sunday?
- 44:53Speaker 1: I don't know, bro. You have to ask him. You
- 44:55Speaker 1: don't want to call him. You're scared.
- 44:56Speaker 3: I'm not scared.
- 44:58Speaker 2: I'm not scared.
- 44:58Speaker 3: I'm going to be honest. He didn't return my last text. Okay.
- 45:03Speaker 2: I'm not opening up the door yet. Now he's being honest.
- 45:05Speaker 2: He has his number, but they're not homies, Doug.
- 45:07Speaker 3: They're the last text.
- 45:09Speaker 2: You know, friendly. Friend-ish.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Friend.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, yeah. This is not.
- 45:13Speaker 3: Let me say this. I'm not close with, besides like
- 45:17Speaker 3: a Harlan Williams.
- 45:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:19Speaker 3: You know, like I have very few close, close friends.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Joe Corey is somebody that like I am friendly with.
- 45:25Speaker 3: and somebody I do text with, but no, it's not like,
- 45:27Speaker 3: if this was Harlan, yeah, I'd call him up and go, dude,
- 45:30Speaker 3: what's his story? You know, but I'm not like that.
- 45:34Speaker 2: You don't want to out of nowhere go, hey.
- 45:36Speaker 3: But I don't really, yeah. Oh, by the way, the
- 45:38Speaker 3: guy whose last text you didn't return, now I want
- 45:40Speaker 3: to get in the middle of something that happened.
- 45:42Speaker 1: I thought we were going to call him, bro, like
- 45:45Speaker 1: when Bob and Lee was talking about Shane Gillis and
- 45:47Speaker 1: then they called him and he answered.
- 45:49Speaker 3: Oh, and what happened?
- 45:50Speaker 1: Everything was cool.
- 45:51Speaker 2: Was it?
- 45:52Speaker 3: Did you have beef with Shane Gillis, too? No.
- 45:54Speaker 1: But I wanted it to be like that, like we
- 45:55Speaker 1: would just call him up and have full answers. Hey, man.
- 45:59Speaker 3: Because somebody said, tell that fool. No, I'm not the
- 46:03Speaker 3: fool on the podcast.
- 46:04Speaker 2: No, we're all fools.
- 46:05Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:06Speaker 1: We're all fools. We're all fools here.
- 46:08Speaker 2: What's up, fools? We're all fools. But, like, no, I
- 46:10Speaker 2: just think it's hilarious that he gets brought up.
- 46:13Speaker 3: It's so funny. Yeah, because you said, oh, I know Pete.
- 46:15Speaker 2: He was ready, dog.
- 46:16Speaker 1: I've been ready.
- 46:17Speaker 2: And I'll be honest with you. I'm tucking back a
- 46:19Speaker 2: boner right now. This is fucking great, dog. This is phenomenal.
- 46:22Speaker 1: But it's good to promote that fool special.
- 46:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 46:26Speaker 3: Let's role play. I'll be Joe.
- 46:28Speaker 2: I don't know if you want that.
- 46:30Speaker 1: Ring, ring.
- 46:31Speaker 2: You don't want that, man. Ring, ring.
- 46:33Speaker 3: He's overseas.
- 46:33Speaker 2: He's got a long-ass torso, man.
- 46:35Speaker 1: Ring, ring.
- 46:35Speaker 2: You fucking swing at you good. Hold on.
- 46:37Speaker 3: He's on the private chat. Putting it through to the chat.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Hold on. Let's do one of you, bro, trying to
- 46:43Speaker 1: sell your special, bro. Hold on.
- 46:45Speaker 3: He's in a meeting to sell another special.
- 46:46Speaker 1: Hold on. Hold on. Let's do one of you trying
- 46:50Speaker 1: to sell that one-hour-and-22-minute special right now.
- 46:53Speaker 3: Go ahead.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Who are you? I'm everybody, bro.
- 46:56Speaker 2: No, what are you? Like Netflix, you Viacom, who are you?
- 47:01Speaker 1: Paramount, bro, Paramount.
- 47:02Speaker 2: Paramount's a good one.
- 47:03Speaker 1: Paramount would be a motherfucker.
- 47:05Speaker 3: Paramount Plus?
- 47:06Speaker 2: Paramount Plus.
- 47:07Speaker 3: It's not just Paramount?
- 47:09Speaker 1: I don't want to be on just Paramount. You know what?
- 47:11Speaker 1: I'll be OnlyFans. We need to come and try to
- 47:15Speaker 1: put a special on OnlyFans.
- 47:17Speaker 2: I mean, you know, fine. I mean, if it pays.
- 47:21Speaker 3: Are you shooting a new one?
- 47:22Speaker 2: No, I'm shooting. I have my first hour. He's producing
- 47:26Speaker 2: the half hour that I'm shooting in less than a month.
- 47:29Speaker 3: When are you guys doing that?
- 47:31Speaker 2: We're doing that October 8th at the Stand-Up Comedy Club
- 47:34Speaker 2: in Bellflower.
- 47:35Speaker 1: At the Stand-Up Club? Yeah.
- 47:37Speaker 2: So it's just me doing 30, Felipe doing 20, and
- 47:40Speaker 2: then our buddy, Martin Rizzo, who's usually the host here. Oh, man. See,
- 47:44Speaker 2: he leaves, and I don't know how to keep you
- 47:46Speaker 2: on a goddamn leash.
- 47:48Speaker 1: So who.
- 47:50Speaker 3: Will you go on before Felipe?
- 47:52Speaker 1: No, I'll go on first.
- 47:52Speaker 2: No, Felipe goes on before me.
- 47:53Speaker 1: First, okay.
- 47:54Speaker 2: Yeah, it's because it's Felipe Esparza presents Saul Trujillo. So
- 47:59Speaker 2: that's what I mean by, like, he's helping me.
- 48:01Speaker 3: That's great.
- 48:01Speaker 2: That's great.
- 48:03Speaker 3: He's not threatened by you.
- 48:04Speaker 2: No, no. He's never been threatened by me. His middle
- 48:06Speaker 2: acts are generally pretty strong. His middle acts are generally, like,
- 48:09Speaker 2: you bring pretty strong people.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Bro, my middle acts, people tell them, man, you should
- 48:12Speaker 1: have went up last.
- 48:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 48:14Speaker 2: He's the reason I'm headlining two different clubs. Like, I
- 48:17Speaker 2: got in at Wise Guys because of him.
- 48:20Speaker 1: Bro, I've been selling merch, and I could hear the
- 48:23Speaker 1: audience tell my feature that, man, you should have headlined. Yeah. Yeah.
- 48:27Speaker 1: And it just makes me want to work harder.
- 48:29Speaker 2: It's a good way to pass the torch, man. It's great.
- 48:33Speaker 1: Well, I'm passing the torch.
- 48:34Speaker 3: This is your wife saying, Felipe.
- 48:36Speaker 2: Called Joe a hack. Okay, here we go. Felipe called
- 48:39Speaker 2: Joe a hack. Joe got revenge by complaining about me
- 48:42Speaker 2: to the club owner who took me off the weekends.
- 48:47Speaker 2: The owner told me why they were demoting me for
- 48:50Speaker 2: I quit.
- 48:51Speaker 3: So have you been back to the Laugh Factory?
- 48:53Speaker 1: Yeah. Okay. Okay.
- 48:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but it's like you don't have the same necessarily
- 48:58Speaker 2: relationship that you have with clubs, you know, not in general.
- 49:01Speaker 2: Because he is always telling me, I'm a big comedy
- 49:03Speaker 2: story guy, and he always tells me, he's like, this
- 49:05Speaker 2: place is a good place to work out your material,
- 49:07Speaker 2: but don't be the guy there. Don't just be the
- 49:10Speaker 2: guy who hangs out there. So that you, you got
- 49:13Speaker 2: to be the guy who like.
- 49:14Speaker 1: You don't want to be the Bush man.
- 49:16Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Which I appreciate. You just got passed there.
- 49:19Speaker 2: He just got. passed at the comedy store which that's
- 49:21Speaker 2: fucking crazy that's insane your name should be at the
- 49:26Speaker 2: very fucking front not towards the back where it's at
- 49:29Speaker 2: it's I mean congrats man.
- 49:30Speaker 1: But he's a New York comic basically right No, I've been.
- 49:33Speaker 3: Out here for 20 years.
- 49:33Speaker 2: You've been out here for fucking forever, Doc. I got
- 49:35Speaker 2: out here.
- 49:37Speaker 3: Before 9-11, so what was that?
- 49:39Speaker 2: 11?
- 49:39Speaker 3: 25 years I've been here.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Yeah, so like.
- 49:41Speaker 1: Are you still with Barry Katz?
- 49:43Speaker 3: Still with what?
- 49:44Speaker 1: Barry Katz?
- 49:50Speaker 2: That's the white cheeser right there. Don't ever say that
- 49:53Speaker 2: to him again.
- 49:53Speaker 1: You stupid Barry Katz, boy.
- 49:58Speaker 2: Goddamn.
- 49:59Speaker 1: Arnie, you're undeniable.
- 50:00Speaker 2: That's a good Barry Katz. That's not a bad Barry Katz.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I was talking to Mike.
- 50:06Speaker 2: That's a good Barry Katz.
- 50:07Speaker 3: Who's on your Mount Rushmore?
- 50:11Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 50:12Speaker 3: Who's ever on Mount Rushmore? Those guys are fine. Yeah,
- 50:15Speaker 3: George Washington's my favorite comedian.
- 50:16Speaker 1: When he got no bra, I was like, what the fuck, kid?
- 50:19Speaker 2: Hey, how did you think when he brought up the
- 50:20Speaker 2: Joe Coy thing? I've never seen you. You got mad
- 50:23Speaker 2: like a dad.
- 50:23Speaker 1: You got mad.
- 50:25Speaker 2: Holy shit, you had high blood pressure head. That shit
- 50:27Speaker 2: was fucking crazy.
- 50:30Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 50:30Speaker 2: What the fuck? What is that?
- 50:33Speaker 1: Well, sometimes, you know.
- 50:35Speaker 3: Oh, my God. I got to call Fluffy. Hold on
- 50:38Speaker 3: a second.
- 50:38Speaker 2: Don't call Fluffy! Oh, no, no, no, no.
- 50:42Speaker 3: Don't call Fluffy.
- 50:43Speaker 2: Don't call Fluffy. What do you mean? Oh, my God.
- 50:46Speaker 2: Everything's getting aired out. This is crazy. Fluffy now. Don't
- 50:52Speaker 2: call Fluffy. This whole goddamn... All right. Now, this whole
- 51:01Speaker 2: thing's about to get aired out.
- 51:02Speaker 1: If you don't know my baby mama's name, I'm going
- 51:04Speaker 1: to run out of here.
- 51:07Speaker 2: Good. You're going to air all the beefs, man. Orny
- 51:09Speaker 2: Adams coming here airing out all the beefs. Oh, no, no, no.
- 51:11Speaker 3: I know. I know. I know.
- 51:12Speaker 1: I know. It's a great way to promote a special, though, bro. Yeah, no.
- 51:14Speaker 2: He's like, no.
- 51:15Speaker 1: You need a drama.
- 51:16Speaker 2: So when do you do? You're shopping it right now.
- 51:18Speaker 3: I'm going to shop it.
- 51:19Speaker 2: He's shopping it right now.
- 51:20Speaker 3: I'm shopping it. Joe Coy will walk it into Netflix.
- 51:23Speaker 2: It's Joe Coy Presents Orny Adams.
- 51:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 51:25Speaker 3: Yeah. At the Bellflower Comedy Club. No, so then if
- 51:32Speaker 3: it doesn't, which there's a good chance it doesn't get
- 51:35Speaker 3: picked up by anybody, it goes on YouTube, which is
- 51:39Speaker 3: an amazing place to be.
- 51:40Speaker 1: It is.
- 51:41Speaker 3: And then I'll be back here with answers. I'll be
- 51:45Speaker 3: rolling up with my Fluffy and my Joe Coy, and
- 51:48Speaker 3: I'll create controversy.
- 51:50Speaker 1: You would, man.
- 51:51Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:52Speaker 2: I don't think they're allowed in this house.
- 51:54Speaker 1: They're allowed. We tell them to invite them, and they
- 51:57Speaker 1: would show up. Really?
- 52:00Speaker 2: You have tried. You think they're going to come with
- 52:03Speaker 2: the energy that you brought from earlier?
- 52:05Speaker 1: Maybe. I hope so.
- 52:06Speaker 3: I'd like to moderate that podcast.
- 52:07Speaker 2: I kind of want you to, too.
- 52:09Speaker 3: Holy shit, you were confused for a second. Listen, the
- 52:14Speaker 3: Latino community that comes to see me, they're fighting over cows, okay?
- 52:18Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 52:19Speaker 1: Fighting over cows.
- 52:20Speaker 3: This is a deep-seated—I didn't realize— how deep-seated this was
- 52:25Speaker 3: but it got uh got nasty in here for a
- 52:27Speaker 3: second you saw me through the mic already bro and
- 52:30Speaker 3: i was like supposed to flinch i'm like dude you
- 52:32Speaker 3: haven't been you haven't been to mexico since you were
- 52:34Speaker 3: four i ain't that afraid.
- 52:36Speaker 1: You know i see they call him though he's still
- 52:40Speaker 1: yeah no no because he didn't call because he doesn't
- 52:42Speaker 1: know him he.
- 52:43Speaker 3: Just has his number because i don't know him like
- 52:45Speaker 3: that yeah i mean you want me to call howie
- 52:47Speaker 3: mendel got beef with him I.
- 52:50Speaker 2: Think Howie Mandel probably is funny very much.
- 52:51Speaker 1: You know what's funny, man?
- 52:52Speaker 3: Howie would love it.
- 52:53Speaker 1: Yeah, Howie would love it. I was at the comedy store.
- 52:55Speaker 3: Howie would for sure have called.
- 52:57Speaker 1: And Mark Maron and Bill Burr were there. And then
- 53:01Speaker 1: I left to leave him alone.
- 53:02Speaker 2: Uh-huh.
- 53:04Speaker 1: Then I heard screaming and shouting.
- 53:05Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 53:07Speaker 1: And the guy from Quiet Kings told my co-host from
- 53:10Speaker 1: the Bush, told Bush Escobar, the podcast, and told him
- 53:14Speaker 1: exactly what happened, bro. And one of them yelled out,
- 53:18Speaker 1: one of them yelled out, Just to let you know, man,
- 53:21Speaker 1: I'm not fucking afraid of you. I ain't afraid of
- 53:25Speaker 1: you either, motherfucker. Wait, wait, wait, wait. What, what, what, what?
- 53:29Speaker 1: Just leave it at that, bro.
- 53:30Speaker 3: When was this?
- 53:31Speaker 1: That was at the comedy show.
- 53:33Speaker 3: How long ago?
- 53:34Speaker 1: Not even like a month ago.
- 53:36Speaker 3: You're saying Marc Maron.
- 53:38Speaker 1: You're saying. No. No.
- 53:40Speaker 3: You just said it.
- 53:41Speaker 1: Let's go to the chat. I'm just saying quiet keys
- 53:43Speaker 1: to them.
- 53:44Speaker 3: Let's go to the chat.
- 53:45Speaker 1: I wasn't there. It's hearsay.
- 53:46Speaker 3: People love the cow. Super Sloth Smile loves the cow.
- 53:51Speaker 3: Said cow three times. Nobody said cow more than three
- 53:55Speaker 3: times in the chat. So Super Sloth Smile is winning
- 53:58Speaker 3: the cow.
- 53:59Speaker 2: I think your cow story brought up beef. That's the problem.
- 54:02Speaker 1: That's what it did. Yeah, man. Your cow story brought
- 54:04Speaker 1: too much beef, bro, and I'm being here.
- 54:06Speaker 3: The people calling this, Banter's calling this the funniest episode ever.
- 54:09Speaker 3: He's ever heard.
- 54:10Speaker 2: It's fucking crazy, man.
- 54:11Speaker 3: That's just what we're doing.
- 54:12Speaker 1: This is what we need in this podcast, bro. We've
- 54:14Speaker 1: been lacking a lot of boring stuff. Who was the
- 54:17Speaker 1: last person on? I had to bring props and shit.
- 54:19Speaker 2: You watched Cheeseman the whole time? I had to bring props.
- 54:22Speaker 3: Put on the wrestling mask.
- 54:23Speaker 1: I had to put on props the whole time.
- 54:25Speaker 2: God damn it. I think it's my energy. My energy
- 54:27Speaker 2: does this.
- 54:29Speaker 3: I love that.
- 54:30Speaker 2: Oh, God damn it.
- 54:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 54:34Speaker 2: Anyways, it's gone off his fucking rocker, man. He's out
- 54:37Speaker 2: of control right now. He's bringing up beefs. We're out
- 54:40Speaker 2: here trying to fucking rip for already Adam's special that
- 54:43Speaker 2: he's shopping. Oh, shit! Yeah, none of this even matter.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Break it.
- 54:48Speaker 1: None of this even matter anymore, bro. We're going to
- 54:50Speaker 1: get canceled. Joe Coy is going to call my manager
- 54:56Speaker 1: and try to get me canceled from UTA.
- 55:00Speaker 3: What the fuck?
- 55:03Speaker 1: They're going to take all my dates. I'm going to
- 55:06Speaker 1: end up co-headlining with Willie Barsana.
- 55:09Speaker 3: I'm not saying no.
- 55:10Speaker 1: With Ernie Adams fucking hosting and shit.
- 55:13Speaker 3: Listen, I don't know if that's Felipe.
- 55:15Speaker 1: Walking around the whole night asking, should I do my
- 55:18Speaker 1: Latino stuff or my white stuff? Should I do my
- 55:21Speaker 1: Latino stuff or my white stuff at this show?
- 55:22Speaker 2: Do you have Latino stuff?
- 55:23Speaker 3: Of course, everybody does.
- 55:25Speaker 2: Do they?
- 55:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I think so.
- 55:26Speaker 2: I barely do.
- 55:27Speaker 3: Is that Felipe under the mask?
- 55:28Speaker 1: I think so.
- 55:29Speaker 3: Because I think you owe Joe Coy an apology. And
- 55:32Speaker 3: I'd like to, right now, I'd like to hear your apology.
- 55:38Speaker 1: He can suck these nuts.
- 55:40Speaker 3: No, no, no, no!
- 55:42Speaker 1: No! Him, his whole family.
- 55:45Speaker 2: His whole family!
- 55:46Speaker 1: No!
- 55:47Speaker 3: Leave his family out of this.
- 55:49Speaker 1: When I hear him talk, all I hear is Chris
- 55:52Speaker 1: Doran's bitch. Billy Bob Thornton, I play ping pong, eh?
- 55:56Speaker 2: Whoa, yeah? That's a deep cut if you're hitting a
- 55:58Speaker 2: store in one of your openers.
- 56:00Speaker 3: This is, let me tell you what this is turning into.
- 56:02Speaker 2: Jesus Christ.
- 56:03Speaker 1: You did this already. Your special is going to go platinum.
- 56:06Speaker 3: I just walked into the middle of a war. It's
- 56:08Speaker 3: like being on the wrong street when there's a drive-by shooting.
- 56:10Speaker 3: I have nothing to do with this. I like both
- 56:13Speaker 3: of you, and I just want to.
- 56:15Speaker 1: Say that I'd like this to be resolved. That's the
- 56:16Speaker 1: problem with you white comics. You guys never pick sides, eh? Yeah.
- 56:20Speaker 3: I played it safe. I played it safe. I've done
- 56:22Speaker 3: very well.
- 56:23Speaker 1: What do you think Derek Carter did at work?
- 56:24Speaker 2: What's that?
- 56:25Speaker 1: What do you think Derek Carter stopped working? No, he
- 56:28Speaker 1: picked sides.
- 56:29Speaker 2: He picked sides. He picked Latino. That fool crushes in Fresno.
- 56:32Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? Don't disrespect the party starter. The
- 56:36Speaker 2: party starter destroys.
- 56:37Speaker 1: He chose to run a moreno over everybody.
- 56:39Speaker 2: For elder Latino cholos.
- 56:41Speaker 3: No, I just don't know enough about it. I will
- 56:43Speaker 3: be deliberating. I'll be doing some research on this. But
- 56:46Speaker 3: I can't take a side until I know the full story.
- 56:49Speaker 1: Have you ever been invited by a white comic to
- 56:57Speaker 1: go ride and then he tries to touch you?
- 56:59Speaker 2: What the fuck, Felipe?
- 57:02Speaker 1: A Jewish comic, old Jewish comic from the 80s? No,
- 57:05Speaker 1: who is this?
- 57:06Speaker 2: Oh, I know who you're talking about. Yeah, but he
- 57:10Speaker 2: doesn't seem like the type. You don't seem molestable. You
- 57:14Speaker 2: know what I mean? You have the confidence to not be.
- 57:16Speaker 2: You can fight, is what I'm saying. No one can
- 57:18Speaker 2: feel like I can take advantage of this guy. No, no, no. Yeah, 100%.
- 57:23Speaker 1: For sure.
- 57:24Speaker 3: Who is this comic from the 80s?
- 57:26Speaker 2: You want to say allegedly? Because I don't mind saying
- 57:28Speaker 2: the name.
- 57:30Speaker 3: Did this happen to you?
- 57:32Speaker 1: You know what, bro? I had an old manager, bro, like,
- 57:37Speaker 1: he was following me around. Uh-huh. Like, he went to
- 57:40Speaker 1: all the Latino rooms I went to, and like, what
- 57:41Speaker 1: are they doing? What are they doing in Montebello? Yeah.
- 57:44Speaker 1: Who's following me to Montebello? And then one time, he
- 57:47Speaker 1: called me late at night, hey, Felipe, I got these
- 57:49Speaker 1: fucking two bitches over. Come over, hey, we're all naked. Ew.
- 57:53Speaker 1: But I didn't go.
- 57:54Speaker 3: Who is this?
- 57:54Speaker 1: Some old man.
- 57:56Speaker 2: Yeah, but who's this mysterious old man?
- 57:58Speaker 3: All you do is you go from story that doesn't
- 58:02Speaker 3: name anybody. So you're like, I'm still stuck on the
- 58:05Speaker 3: old Jewish comic that might have molested you.
- 58:07Speaker 1: I'm asking you because you're Jewish, right? How do you
- 58:08Speaker 1: get out of that by telling another.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Story about somebody else without naming that person's name?
- 58:11Speaker 1: You're Jewish, right?
- 58:12Speaker 2: He rhymes with Terry Lobel.
- 58:13Speaker 1: You're Jewish, right? Aren't you Jewish?
- 58:16Speaker 2: You know.
- 58:17Speaker 1: Yeah. Really?
- 58:18Speaker 2: You know Terry Lobel.
- 58:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:19Speaker 3: Wow.
- 58:20Speaker 1: Okay.
- 58:21Speaker 2: Hags out at Cat's Deli. If you're a twink, he'll
- 58:24Speaker 2: follow you.
- 58:24Speaker 1: Okay.
- 58:25Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 58:25Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 58:26Speaker 1: You know what?
- 58:26Speaker 3: I got to say something.
- 58:27Speaker 1: Paul Rodriguez told me that.
- 58:29Speaker 2: I witnessed him do it.
- 58:30Speaker 1: I like you.
- 58:31Speaker 3: Oh, Marnie got Felipe ornery.
- 58:33Speaker 2: Yeah. I've never seen Felipe hide behind a mask. It's
- 58:39Speaker 2: like his support mask. It's like a blanket.
- 58:41Speaker 3: You know what I've realized? Sometimes I sit at home
- 58:44Speaker 3: and I'm like, you know, I don't do a lot
- 58:46Speaker 3: of podcasts. I'm not asked to be on a lot
- 58:48Speaker 3: of podcasts.
- 58:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 58:50Speaker 3: I don't hang out in the scene enough to get
- 58:52Speaker 3: into these beefs.
- 58:53Speaker 1: I don't know what's going on. Me neither. Me neither.
- 58:55Speaker 2: Yeah, but this is old shit.
- 58:57Speaker 1: This is like before, this all happened between 2008. Yeah,
- 59:00Speaker 1: this is old shit. But I'm still holding it on because.
- 59:03Speaker 3: Yeah. I'm glad this is the podcast that all comes together.
- 59:06Speaker 1: I honestly don't know.
- 59:07Speaker 3: Have you ever seen this side of him?
- 59:08Speaker 2: No, I didn't think you were. going to be the
- 59:10Speaker 2: guest where he does this.
- 59:11Speaker 3: Of course it's going to be me. You think I'm
- 59:12Speaker 3: going to sit here? I'm going to take 90 minutes
- 59:15Speaker 3: out of my life to sit across from Felipe with
- 59:17Speaker 3: his little toy making sound effects? His little... It's not even...
- 59:22Speaker 3: It's not even wireless. Hold that up.
- 59:23Speaker 2: It's pathetic.
- 59:25Speaker 3: It's got a wire.
- 59:26Speaker 1: No, no.
- 59:27Speaker 3: I go, it's time for me to turn this podcast up.
- 59:30Speaker 2: Yeah, a little bit.
- 59:30Speaker 3: You get Felipe. I'm going to sit here for three minutes.
- 59:32Speaker 3: He's going to talk about everything else but the guest.
- 59:34Speaker 3: I'm fired up. I'm fired up. Okay.
- 59:39Speaker 1: We're back here with Brad Garrett here.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Let's thank our sponsors.
- 59:44Speaker 1: We used to go play basketball with Gary Shandling, Seinfeld,
- 59:48Speaker 1: Larry David. You didn't get nothing out of it. Not
- 59:51Speaker 1: even a pass. Not even a check ball.
- 59:54Speaker 2: No beef from one of those fools.
- 59:56Speaker 1: This is how you're not.
- 59:58Speaker 2: Yeah, of course you did.
- 59:59Speaker 1: Of course you did. This guy doesn't even know. If
- 1:00:03Speaker 1: I would have been there, I would have been like
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: had a fucking two pilots already, bro. I would have
- 1:00:08Speaker 1: been on Gary Shandling. This is it, bro. Gary Shandling, man.
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: You got to do a Latino show, bro. Exactly the
- 1:00:14Speaker 1: Gary Shandling show, but with me in it.
- 1:00:16Speaker 2: You're really good at networking, though, man. You had to
- 1:00:18Speaker 2: teach me. Remember when you fucking took me out first?
- 1:00:21Speaker 2: You're like, hey, fool, how come you're not out there
- 1:00:22Speaker 2: saying hi to fools? Like, I would be.
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: I had a mush mouth the whole time I was
- 1:00:27Speaker 1: in stand-up comedy.
- 1:00:28Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: No, but you. So Willie Barsena told me, bro, he
- 1:00:31Speaker 1: got a bunch of roll of paper. I was like
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: a young comic.
- 1:00:35Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:00:35Speaker 1: A bunch of paper, paper towels. Put this in your mouth, dog.
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: So I put all this toilet paper in my mouth. Like,
- 1:00:41Speaker 1: I was like, ah. I couldn't even breathe. And then
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: he goes, now talk.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: Who did that?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: Willie Barsena.
- 1:00:48Speaker 3: Was the toilet paper clean?
- 1:00:50Speaker 1: No, it was like paper towel. Bounty.
- 1:00:53Speaker 2: Why would you do that for? Because you had a
- 1:00:54Speaker 2: mush mouth?
- 1:00:55Speaker 1: Because I was talking real fast. He said that would
- 1:00:58Speaker 1: help me slow down when I talk. Okay.
- 1:01:00Speaker 2: Okay, but I'm just talking about when you're done with shows,
- 1:01:04Speaker 2: you're so good at networking. When you're talking about what
- 1:01:07Speaker 2: you would do with the game of basketball. You're just
- 1:01:09Speaker 2: playing basketball.
- 1:01:10Speaker 1: No, no, no.
- 1:01:11Speaker 3: I go in there thinking one of these guys will
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: put me in something.
- 1:01:16Speaker 1: I would have showed up with a script, bro, with
- 1:01:18Speaker 1: nothing on it.
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: Oh, I did that, too.
- 1:01:19Speaker 1: I would have said, bro, I would need your magic.
- 1:01:21Speaker 3: I did that.
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: I did that.
- 1:01:23Speaker 3: I gave Judd Apatow scripts. I gave Adam McKay scripts.
- 1:01:27Speaker 2: I would never think to do that.
- 1:01:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:01:28Speaker 3: No, no. Believe me.
- 1:01:30Speaker 1: You just got to get short with a fucking bowl
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: of lentils grossing everybody out.
- 1:01:35Speaker 3: And those guys, to their credit, Judd and Adam McKay
- 1:01:38Speaker 3: were very helpful and read it and gave notes and
- 1:01:42Speaker 3: all that sort of stuff and sort of helped. I
- 1:01:44Speaker 3: thought everyone was helpful. Listen, nobody owes me anything. That's
- 1:01:49Speaker 3: the truth.
- 1:01:49Speaker 1: That's true. Nobody owes me anything either, bro. Pfft.
- 1:01:55Speaker 2: I feel like you.
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: But when you were a stand-up comic, a young comic,
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: who was the guy that you hung out with that
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: was an older comic?
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: Nobody.
- 1:02:03Speaker 1: That's sad, bro.
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: I had Willie Barsana. I got you. And me and you. Oh,
- 1:02:09Speaker 1: you know. I used to drive Willie around, like drive
- 1:02:11Speaker 1: him to the airport, bring him back.
- 1:02:13Speaker 3: But you know, Gary Shandling was a mentor. That was
- 1:02:15Speaker 3: a guy that I spent a lot of time with.
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: Yeah, I didn't know that.
- 1:02:18Speaker 3: And did some writing. And I would write for him
- 1:02:21Speaker 3: when he was on television. Gary did a lot for me.
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: Yeah. That's great.
- 1:02:25Speaker 3: Yeah, there were guys like that.
- 1:02:26Speaker 2: That's a good mentor, man.
- 1:02:27Speaker 3: Great mentor. Gary was the one guy that, you know,
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: I felt like there was a time that, you know,
- 1:02:34Speaker 3: Seinfeld tried to take me under his wing and some
- 1:02:37Speaker 3: other people. And just, you know, I wasn't, I didn't
- 1:02:40Speaker 3: have the right energy. You know, I was a kid
- 1:02:42Speaker 3: trying to prove too much and probably annoying. And I
- 1:02:45Speaker 3: could understand, you know, why they wouldn't. But Gary was
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: a guy that saw me sort of like as a
- 1:02:51Speaker 3: brother and very much like him. And he sort of
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: accepted me for my misgivings and what I was as
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: a person and sort of helped me and guided me.
- 1:03:00Speaker 3: And I wrote for him at the Emmys. And, you know,
- 1:03:03Speaker 3: he was a great friend. So that is somebody.
- 1:03:06Speaker 2: So just like because you have a– you feel like
- 1:03:10Speaker 2: he's the reason why you have the career you have now?
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: No. No? No.
- 1:03:14Speaker 2: Not even at all?
- 1:03:15Speaker 3: No. Okay.
- 1:03:16Speaker 1: No.
- 1:03:17Speaker 3: You're all idiots. No, I think it's a culmination of
- 1:03:23Speaker 3: everybody that I've met and everybody that's helped me. And,
- 1:03:25Speaker 3: you know, when we started out, comics helped other comics.
- 1:03:28Speaker 3: This is going to shock you. We used to sit
- 1:03:30Speaker 3: around and help each other with jokes, not talk about algorithms,
- 1:03:34Speaker 3: not talk about, you know.
- 1:03:35Speaker 1: Not sitting on chocolate sun and just watching.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: Oh, God, yeah.
- 1:03:39Speaker 3: Oh, my God.
- 1:03:41Speaker 1: You know what, Felipe?
- 1:03:42Speaker 3: I don't like this, because it's now you're taking out
- 1:03:44Speaker 3: on me, and I have nothing to do with your
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: beef with Joe Coy.
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: Not sitting on Chocolate Sunday, watching a free comedy show,
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: and then flipping the jokes around so they can work
- 1:03:55Speaker 1: on Latino night.
- 1:03:56Speaker 3: Who's contesting whether or not he kills?
- 1:04:00Speaker 2: It's one of these Mexican fools. If you're a white boy,
- 1:04:02Speaker 2: they really got to test. They really got to test.
- 1:04:04Speaker 2: Steal sets. Stale sets.
- 1:04:07Speaker 3: Oh, stale.
- 1:04:08Speaker 1: Stale.
- 1:04:09Speaker 2: If it's one thing you ain't, it's stale.
- 1:04:10Speaker 1: These guys don't know your work ethic.
- 1:04:11Speaker 2: Yeah, I was going to say, they'd have to watch
- 1:04:13Speaker 2: your set. It's one of those things where you have
- 1:04:16Speaker 2: to be in the room for your set. Yeah, because
- 1:04:18Speaker 2: I've hosted. I've watched your set. You crush. You put
- 1:04:22Speaker 2: a dent into the ground. It's hard to follow. The energies,
- 1:04:25Speaker 2: if you're a deadpan comic, it's hard to follow. You
- 1:04:28Speaker 2: better come out swinging.
- 1:04:30Speaker 1: I know, man.
- 1:04:31Speaker 2: Same thing with you, fool.
- 1:04:32Speaker 1: You have almost the same energy. I like that comedian, man,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: the little dude. He does paintings. What? He does Deadpan.
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: I can't think of his name right now.
- 1:04:43Speaker 2: I'm going to be honest with you. There's a lot
- 1:04:45Speaker 2: of comics that do paintings. I was going to say
- 1:04:46Speaker 2: Jamar Neighbors. I know you're not talking about Jamar Neighbors.
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: No, he does painting and stand-up. Dimitri Martin.
- 1:04:52Speaker 2: Oh, Dimitri Martin. Yes, yes, yes, yes. How Felipe just.
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: How many specials do you have?
- 1:04:59Speaker 3: I have three. The fourth is coming out. But I
- 1:05:03Speaker 3: spend years honing the material. So when I shot this one,
- 1:05:07Speaker 3: I shot two two-hour shows and whittled it down to
- 1:05:11Speaker 3: an hour and 22. So I had so much material.
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: Oh, shit.
- 1:05:15Speaker 3: And a lot of it didn't make it in. But
- 1:05:17Speaker 3: I really like to get a bit perfect.
- 1:05:21Speaker 2: When you're on the road, how much time do you
- 1:05:24Speaker 2: do at the end? I'm just curious as to what
- 1:05:27Speaker 2: headliners do. Some comics will do the minimum 45.
- 1:05:29Speaker 1: Oh, no, no.
- 1:05:30Speaker 2: Some comics will do a long time.
- 1:05:32Speaker 3: I was, in the last few years, over an hour
- 1:05:34Speaker 3: and 20.
- 1:05:34Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:05:36Speaker 2: You're doing about, Felipe, that's about your time right there.
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: Man, I try to get up at 57 minutes sometimes. Sometimes.
- 1:05:42Speaker 3: I feel if you're doing like a theater and these people,
- 1:05:45Speaker 3: you know, it's like you got to do a lot
- 1:05:48Speaker 3: of time.
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:49Speaker 3: Or bring a lot of openers.
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:05:51Speaker 3: But I feel like it's a night out. Like if
- 1:05:53Speaker 3: it's a night out and they're there for an hour
- 1:05:54Speaker 3: and 20 minutes, it's like, I don't know. I don't know. No, no, no.
- 1:05:58Speaker 2: Yeah, just out of curiosity. Just because some guys go
- 1:06:01Speaker 2: for like an hour, hour 20. I feel like that's
- 1:06:03Speaker 2: usually a typical.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I like to do two hours on a Thursday show
- 1:06:06Speaker 1: and an hour and 45 minutes on the first show,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: 7 o'clock show. Make my second show wait.
- 1:06:14Speaker 2: Is it that same pace?
- 1:06:14Speaker 1: Hell no, I never do that, man.
- 1:06:16Speaker 3: Same what?
- 1:06:16Speaker 2: Same pace the whole time?
- 1:06:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:06:18Speaker 3: Well, I do sit in the chair and I do like,
- 1:06:20Speaker 3: I tell like stories.
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: Yeah. That like. We're still waiting for one of them
- 1:06:26Speaker 1: stories on this podcast.
- 1:06:27Speaker 3: What's that?
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: We're waiting for one of those stories here on this podcast.
- 1:06:30Speaker 2: Well, we're trying to link up to it, but then
- 1:06:32Speaker 2: like a beef happened. Beef happened.
- 1:06:35Speaker 1: Beef happened.
- 1:06:36Speaker 2: This fool's like, I got a story about going to Mexico.
- 1:06:38Speaker 2: I'm like, oh, let's see if we can get to it.
- 1:06:39Speaker 3: Yeah, no, we're never going to get to the Mexico story.
- 1:06:40Speaker 2: We're never going to get to the motherfucker.
- 1:06:42Speaker 1: I love when people write my name that I'm going
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: to kill somewhere by mispiling my name.
- 1:06:45Speaker 3: Look at Super Slut Smile never heard of me.
- 1:06:48Speaker 2: Well, yeah, I'm going to be honest with you.
- 1:06:49Speaker 3: Of course people have stolen jokes.
- 1:06:51Speaker 2: Latino comics generally still Latino audiences. I mean, not to
- 1:06:55Speaker 2: say they don't go outside of their race, but they
- 1:06:56Speaker 2: generally know what they know. Like, do you know who
- 1:06:59Speaker 2: concrete is?
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:07:00Speaker 2: You do know who Concrete is. That's phenomenal because sometimes
- 1:07:03Speaker 2: I'll tell white comics they'll have no idea who that
- 1:07:04Speaker 2: dude is.
- 1:07:05Speaker 1: They know who Concrete is.
- 1:07:06Speaker 2: Yeah, but like now, now, but I feel like a
- 1:07:08Speaker 2: year ago they had like it was just a Latino
- 1:07:10Speaker 2: based thing but you knowing who he is now. So yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 2: like it doesn't surprise me that a lot of Latinos
- 1:07:15Speaker 2: don't know who you are because they'll just stick to
- 1:07:17Speaker 2: their race.
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: I think that's wonderful. Thank God. If everybody knew who
- 1:07:20Speaker 3: I was and I still had my shitty audiences, my
- 1:07:23Speaker 3: small non-sold out shows, then I go, I'm in trouble.
- 1:07:26Speaker 3: But the fact that I have all these people that
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: don't know me, fantastic. Great news.
- 1:07:31Speaker 2: When are you going to Hawaii?
- 1:07:36Speaker 1: October 23rd, I think.
- 1:07:37Speaker 3: Which island?
- 1:07:38Speaker 1: Honolulu. I'm doing the Hawaiian theater.
- 1:07:41Speaker 3: Oh, man. I'd love to open.
- 1:07:45Speaker 1: Meet me there, bro.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: What do you mean, meet you there? I'm a local hire. Oh, no,
- 1:07:49Speaker 3: you fly me first class. I'm the prettiest bitch that's
- 1:07:52Speaker 3: ever opened for you. You do it right. I want
- 1:07:56Speaker 3: shit in the green room. Howie Mandel, nothing in the
- 1:07:58Speaker 3: green room.
- 1:07:59Speaker 1: What? Nothing. What are the germaphobe, bro? You want to
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: touch apples?
- 1:08:03Speaker 3: You do take a nice little private chat.
- 1:08:05Speaker 2: That's nice.
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: With Mike Epps. What? With Mike Epps.
- 1:08:09Speaker 2: You're doing what?
- 1:08:10Speaker 1: No, I flew on a private jet only one time. Oh,
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: I've never flown a private jet.
- 1:08:14Speaker 2: Russell Peters. We do a lot of, no complaints about
- 1:08:18Speaker 2: the flights I got. Because I used to be a
- 1:08:20Speaker 2: spirit guy.
- 1:08:21Speaker 3: I got to meet him over there. Which I'm not
- 1:08:23Speaker 3: even too sure if you were saying meet me over
- 1:08:25Speaker 3: there to fight or to open.
- 1:08:26Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:08:27Speaker 2: It might be for both.
- 1:08:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:08:28Speaker 2: It might be for both.
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: So glad I finally have a beef. I came here,
- 1:08:33Speaker 3: no beef with anybody. Now I'm beefing with Felipe.
- 1:08:36Speaker 1: Fluffy.
- 1:08:36Speaker 3: Everybody with an F. And Foy Coy. Foy Coy.
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: Foy Coy.
- 1:08:44Speaker 3: Sorry, that came out wrong.
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: It's your battle, bro.
- 1:08:50Speaker 2: Because I was going to say Hawaii. I just got
- 1:08:52Speaker 2: back from somewhere tropical, but then after the Hawaii trip,
- 1:08:54Speaker 2: I ended up going to Cancun. And I had a
- 1:08:58Speaker 2: lot of fun there. That's the last time I been
- 1:09:00Speaker 2: to Mexico. Have you been to Mexico before?
- 1:09:01Speaker 3: Yeah, let me tell you when I went to Mexico
- 1:09:03Speaker 3: because everyone told me it was safe.
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: Was it?
- 1:09:05Speaker 3: I said, I don't think it's that safe, you know,
- 1:09:08Speaker 3: for the gringos. Well, I go, is that weed or mouth?
- 1:09:12Speaker 1: Mint. Oh, mint. Okay.
- 1:09:14Speaker 3: With weed?
- 1:09:15Speaker 1: No, just mint.
- 1:09:16Speaker 3: Why do you keep doing— nobody' s close to you.
- 1:09:19Speaker 2: What do you— He probably likes the taste.
- 1:09:20Speaker 1: I like the taste.
- 1:09:21Speaker 3: Okay. So I wanted to go back to Costa Rica.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Everyone said, go to Mexico. It's safe. I said, I
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: don't know how safe it is. Now, I'm not telling
- 1:09:33Speaker 3: the whole story because there's, like, massive punchlines in the story.
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: But I'll give you the gist of what happened.
- 1:09:38Speaker 1: Go on.
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: I got to Puerto Vallarta the night before they assassinated
- 1:09:44Speaker 3: the leader of the cartel.
- 1:09:45Speaker 2: El Menchal.
- 1:09:46Speaker 3: I'm not going to El Mencho his name. And we
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: spent three days hiding in the hotel. We had to hide.
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: I went out in the seats. First of all, I
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: heard explosions at breakfast. And I'm seeing plumes of smoke.
- 1:10:04Speaker 3: And right outside the hotel, I go, oh, it must
- 1:10:06Speaker 3: be a celebration. Because, you know, the Mexicans celebrate here
- 1:10:11Speaker 3: in America. I go, oh, look, it's a celebration. I
- 1:10:13Speaker 3: go outside. There's gunfight.
- 1:10:16Speaker 1: Right.
- 1:10:17Speaker 3: I'm like, are they shooting a film? And somebody came
- 1:10:19Speaker 3: up to me in a government vest and said, it's
- 1:10:22Speaker 3: not safe for you here. I go, what do you mean?
- 1:10:26Speaker 3: They go, that's the cartels fighting. I ran inside the
- 1:10:30Speaker 3: hotel and hid. Well, first I told everybody I was Canadian.
- 1:10:36Speaker 1: Oh, you have to.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: Which is the lowest point in your life as an American.
- 1:10:39Speaker 2: You have to admit when you're Canadian.
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: You have to lie.
- 1:10:41Speaker 2: I'm from up north.
- 1:10:42Speaker 3: Yeah, kidnap the other people first, not me.
- 1:10:45Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:10:45Speaker 3: You know, and I'm a big deal. I was on
- 1:10:46Speaker 3: Teen Wolf. So this is for them to see, you know,
- 1:10:50Speaker 3: I'm famous. Who are they going to grab first and
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: parade around town?
- 1:10:54Speaker 2: Got to get the coach from Teen Wolf.
- 1:10:55Speaker 3: Teen Wolf. You don't think the whole staff at the
- 1:10:58Speaker 3: hotel knew? Hidden for three days eating pancakes. That's all
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: they had left after day one was pancakes.
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:11:05Speaker 3: No, I don't know how you say that in Spanish.
- 1:11:07Speaker 2: Panqueque.
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: What? Panqueque. Panqueque. Is it really? No. No.
- 1:11:12Speaker 2: But that's what we're going to call it.
- 1:11:13Speaker 1: We're pochos.
- 1:11:14Speaker 3: Is anybody here really Latino that knows pancake in Spanish?
- 1:11:18Speaker 2: This is a house full of pochos, man.
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: I don't think everybody in California, nobody raised in California
- 1:11:23Speaker 1: knows how to say pancake in Spanish.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: No. How do you do it on the computer? How
- 1:11:26Speaker 3: do you say pancake in Spanish?
- 1:11:27Speaker 1: Tortas. Tortas? Tortas. Really? Well, in Spain, they're called tortas.
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: It's a crepe. Crepe.
- 1:11:36Speaker 2: But that's not really.
- 1:11:37Speaker 1: Meh. Whatever. Well, whatever.
- 1:11:40Speaker 2: You were eating two days with the crepes.
- 1:11:41Speaker 1: You asked for a crepe in Mexico. They're going to
- 1:11:43Speaker 1: give you a crepe, not a fucking pancake.
- 1:11:45Speaker 3: I'm not going to give you all that happened that's
- 1:11:47Speaker 3: funny because you've got to come to the show. But
- 1:11:49Speaker 3: I went out on the... After three days, Felipe... They
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: said that this is what's interesting. There wasn't anybody on
- 1:11:57Speaker 3: the streets, like nobody walking. It was eerie. There was
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: no military. We were shut down and we were inside.
- 1:12:05Speaker 3: And then all of a sudden the word came down,
- 1:12:07Speaker 3: it's safe to go outside. Within a half hour, the
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: streets are packed with people and cars. So we got
- 1:12:14Speaker 3: the blessing. I said, let's go on the beach.
- 1:12:18Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: The playa.
- 1:12:20Speaker 2: The playa.
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: Right?
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: I saw, you ready for this, Felipe? I'm just walking
- 1:12:25Speaker 3: after almost being kidnapped, held captive, basically. I'm walking on
- 1:12:30Speaker 3: the playa, and I saw a cojojilo.
- 1:12:36Speaker 2: A what, what?
- 1:12:37Speaker 3: I thought you guys spoke Spanish.
- 1:12:38Speaker 1: A cojojilo. What is that?
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: A cojojilo. Does anybody speak Spanish?
- 1:12:44Speaker 1: He's being Spanish. You may be pronouncing it wrong. No, no.
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: Oh, I'm pronouncing it wrong.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: No, it's cocodrilo.
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: No H on it.
- 1:12:51Speaker 3: That's what I said. Cocodrilo.
- 1:12:53Speaker 1: Well, you're asking for like a butt plug.
- 1:12:55Speaker 2: He's going to fight you right now.
- 1:12:56Speaker 3: No, no. Cocodrilo.
- 1:12:57Speaker 1: Cocodrilo.
- 1:12:58Speaker 3: I saw cocodrilo.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: That's funny because you say cocodrilo in Miami. The thing
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: is you saw a coquette.
- 1:13:03Speaker 3: Oh, yeah.
- 1:13:05Speaker 2: Cocodrilo in Miami is just not for a coquette.
- 1:13:06Speaker 1: Yeah, cocodrilo in Miami is cocodrilo. So you saw a
- 1:13:09Speaker 1: coquette on the beach. It's a crocodile, but... But they
- 1:13:13Speaker 1: call each other coquettes in Miami. It's a cocodrilo. That's
- 1:13:16Speaker 1: so funny. I sell shirts and hats that say cocodrilo.
- 1:13:19Speaker 3: And your nose is red. Killing it in Miami.
- 1:13:22Speaker 2: Killing it in Miami.
- 1:13:23Speaker 3: I'm going to go right to Miami.
- 1:13:24Speaker 1: Oh, my God.
- 1:13:24Speaker 3: I'm going to go there.
- 1:13:26Speaker 2: You saw a crocodile?
- 1:13:30Speaker 3: It was almost where you are, going right into the water.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: Like nothing's going on.
- 1:13:35Speaker 1: Fuck that.
- 1:13:35Speaker 3: It was in the ocean. I go, it's not safe
- 1:13:38Speaker 3: for me here. I got to get back to Canada.
- 1:13:40Speaker 3: They got the cartel and the cocodrilos.
- 1:13:43Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:13:44Speaker 3: It went right into the water.
- 1:13:45Speaker 2: Cocodrilo cartel. Fuck.
- 1:13:47Speaker 1: That's like. Big. I can't believe like, well, I guess
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: killing that person was like killing like a big terrorist somewhere, right?
- 1:13:55Speaker 1: And then that just shut down the whole city. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:13:59Speaker 3: And the word was that America was involved. So I
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: was like, oh, you got to be kidding me. It
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: was scary. I thought they were going to storm. I
- 1:14:06Speaker 3: didn't know who, but I thought somebody was going to
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: storm the hotel.
- 1:14:08Speaker 1: Fuck that, dude.
- 1:14:09Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:14:10Speaker 2: But because of that, like right around the time me
- 1:14:12Speaker 2: and my wife, we checked the Google flights and flights
- 1:14:16Speaker 2: to Puerto Vallarta and Cancun.
- 1:14:17Speaker 3: Free.
- 1:14:18Speaker 2: They were very cheap. We got it because of the
- 1:14:21Speaker 2: terrorism tax.
- 1:14:21Speaker 1: Of course.
- 1:14:22Speaker 2: We had a great vacation because of that.
- 1:14:25Speaker 3: All I know is like, I'm there. I got nothing
- 1:14:27Speaker 3: to do with your politics. I'm barely involved with politics
- 1:14:30Speaker 3: in my own country. I just want to go to
- 1:14:32Speaker 3: the beach, relax, be respectful. You know, Puerto Vallarta, when
- 1:14:36Speaker 3: we got out, is a gorgeous city with a lot
- 1:14:39Speaker 3: of tradition and the restaurants and everybody couldn't be nicer.
- 1:14:42Speaker 1: You've been there?
- 1:14:43Speaker 2: Yeah, I went on my honeymoon, yeah.
- 1:14:45Speaker 1: The cruise ship or what?
- 1:14:46Speaker 2: No, honeymoon. Puerto Vallarta. Except you do see guys on
- 1:14:51Speaker 2: mansions with AKs and 47s and shit. Because it's cartel country.
- 1:14:54Speaker 3: I'm more afraid of the guys on the motorbikes. Zipping
- 1:14:58Speaker 3: through cars.
- 1:14:59Speaker 2: Motorbike guys.
- 1:14:59Speaker 3: Coming up on the sidewalk.
- 1:15:02Speaker 2: You don't know what type of booze.
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: I'm more afraid of the fruit man there, bro.
- 1:15:05Speaker 2: Why are you afraid of the fruit man?
- 1:15:07Speaker 1: He might get dysentery, man.
- 1:15:09Speaker 2: Because of the fruit man? That fruit man is just
- 1:15:11Speaker 2: going to offer you cocaine. Or to buy a purse.
- 1:15:13Speaker 2: That's the last time the fruit man went there. Okay,
- 1:15:16Speaker 2: so you went from cartel to crocodilo.
- 1:15:19Speaker 1: Mm-hmm.
- 1:15:19Speaker 2: That's incredible, man. I didn't really have that experience.
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: How long were you shut down? The whole city.
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: Here's what happened. So... I rented a villa outside of
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: Puerto Vallarta, a villa an hour out. It was going
- 1:15:37Speaker 3: to be gorgeous. Never made it to it. I was
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: supposed to be at a different hotel, booked the wrong hotel,
- 1:15:45Speaker 3: not the one that had grand after it. I was
- 1:15:47Speaker 3: in a really shitty, all-you-could-eat, and I walked in. I
- 1:15:51Speaker 3: looked at the hotel. I go, I'm not eating a
- 1:15:53Speaker 3: single meal here.
- 1:15:54Speaker 1: Why would you?
- 1:15:55Speaker 3: Little did I know I'd be trapped in this place
- 1:15:57Speaker 3: for three days eating pancakes. Pancakes.
- 1:16:01Speaker 1: Crepe. Crepe.
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: Crepe. Get it correct.
- 1:16:04Speaker 3: Excuse me. Donde esta mi crepe? Donde esta mi crepe?
- 1:16:10Speaker 3: Mi gusto crepe.
- 1:16:12Speaker 2: Mi gusto crepe.
- 1:16:13Speaker 1: So you live by yourself? No wife? No girlfriend?
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: No, I was with somebody. You know what I'm saying.
- 1:16:18Speaker 3: You get what I'm saying? You know what I'm saying?
- 1:16:21Speaker 3: That's right.
- 1:16:22Speaker 2: Well, not really if there's fucking cartel violence.
- 1:16:24Speaker 1: Did you start a stand-up comedy here in New York
- 1:16:26Speaker 1: or New York?
- 1:16:26Speaker 3: Boston. First, I was in Atlanta, in Italy.
- 1:16:31Speaker 1: Atlanta?
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: Boston, New York, Los Angeles.
- 1:16:35Speaker 2: Well, Italy.
- 1:16:36Speaker 3: Italy.
- 1:16:37Speaker 1: Me la pelas. Yes.
- 1:16:38Speaker 2: Wait, how long were you doing stand-up in Italy?
- 1:16:40Speaker 3: Where they have cocodrilos there, not crocodilos with an R.
- 1:16:45Speaker 1: Crocodilos.
- 1:16:45Speaker 3: Yeah, why don't you guys put an R in there?
- 1:16:47Speaker 3: Why is it cocodrilo?
- 1:16:49Speaker 2: Yeah, we could barely speak the language, let alone.
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: Make up the rules.
- 1:16:53Speaker 1: Man, we don't even know how to say hallway in Spanish.
- 1:16:55Speaker 3: Every time I do it on stage, it's so funny.
- 1:16:57Speaker 3: I'll go, who speaks Spanish? Anybody speak Spanish? And someone's
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: always cocky. I go, I saw a cocodrilo. And they
- 1:17:06Speaker 3: have no idea what I'm saying.
- 1:17:06Speaker 2: You're saying it like, like, ugh.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: Yeah, they have no idea what I'm saying. I said,
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: I thought you spoke Spanish. I go, cocodrilo. And then
- 1:17:13Speaker 3: I say it more so they can understand it. So
- 1:17:15Speaker 3: they go, I go, cocodrilo. And they go, oh, alligator.
- 1:17:20Speaker 3: I go, I thought you spoke Spanish. It's a cocodrilo.
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: It's not an alligator.
- 1:17:25Speaker 2: Just say cocodrilo the way you say it with the
- 1:17:26Speaker 2: Boston accent. That's so fucking good.
- 1:17:28Speaker 1: I like the other one with the Boscan accent. Like
- 1:17:31Speaker 1: the Bosque accent from Spain. Cocodrilo.
- 1:17:34Speaker 2: Oh.
- 1:17:35Speaker 1: Cocodrilo. Yeah.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Cocodrilo.
- 1:17:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:17:37Speaker 2: Does that put a bad taste in your mouth for Mexico?
- 1:17:39Speaker 1: Nope.
- 1:17:40Speaker 3: I'm not going back, but no.
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: What a time to go, right?
- 1:17:44Speaker 3: Yeah. To beat. We woke up that morning. I thought
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: people were cheering because the U.S. was playing Canada in
- 1:17:51Speaker 3: hockey in the Olympics. Nope.
- 1:17:53Speaker 1: Explosions. It was nuts.
- 1:17:55Speaker 3: Because everybody tells you it's safe. Yeah. But you always
- 1:17:58Speaker 3: hear these stories. You know what I mean? And it's like, listen,
- 1:18:01Speaker 3: whatever's going on down there, it's not my business.
- 1:18:04Speaker 2: Every co-cat tells you it's safe.
- 1:18:06Speaker 1: Do you feel free when you went to Tijuana with
- 1:18:08Speaker 1: your wife? It's fine.
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: But I'm Mexican, though. You know what I mean? I
- 1:18:12Speaker 2: don't really feel that fear.
- 1:18:14Speaker 1: My first time in New York, I really think that
- 1:18:16Speaker 1: it was like in the movies where everyone's getting mugged.
- 1:18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, it's not like that at all.
- 1:18:21Speaker 1: But it wasn't like that. No, no, no. They just
- 1:18:23Speaker 1: sell you weed that's not weed.
- 1:18:25Speaker 2: Yeah, it is Jamaicans trying to sell you the worst
- 1:18:27Speaker 2: weed that has ever been. That's New York. You go
- 1:18:30Speaker 2: in whatever borough, it's Jamaicans selling you terrible weed. But
- 1:18:33Speaker 2: I was going to ask, your stint in Italy, the
- 1:18:35Speaker 2: time you were in Italy.
- 1:18:36Speaker 3: Like the stand-up there, how different it is. Well, I
- 1:18:39Speaker 3: went over there to do some studying, so I did
- 1:18:41Speaker 3: it at the school. It was like an American university.
- 1:18:44Speaker 2: Oh, okay, so the expats, it's just there's not like
- 1:18:47Speaker 2: real Italians and shit.
- 1:18:48Speaker 1: You still have those, are you? comedy notes, like everything
- 1:18:51Speaker 1: you've ever written in those files like you did in
- 1:18:53Speaker 1: that movie?
- 1:18:54Speaker 3: Yep, still do it. When I was prepping for the special,
- 1:18:58Speaker 3: I would, on a whiteboard, Every day write out the
- 1:19:01Speaker 3: entire special. So if I got to like 15 minutes
- 1:19:05Speaker 3: and then I was wrong, I would flip it and
- 1:19:07Speaker 3: I'd keep going until I got it to the end.
- 1:19:09Speaker 1: Who do you think had more technique as far as
- 1:19:12Speaker 1: writing that you noticed in that movie? You were a
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: science fucker. You have a lot of technique, a lot
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: of notes.
- 1:19:18Speaker 3: I think he's an excellent writer.
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I think he keeps everything in little notes. What
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: does he write on?
- 1:19:23Speaker 3: I don't know. You know, everybody's different. Like Chappelle lived
- 1:19:26Speaker 3: in the same building as me in New York City.
- 1:19:28Speaker 3: And he would just have like a sticky on the
- 1:19:30Speaker 3: wall that would say, you know, green plant. And he
- 1:19:33Speaker 3: would just riff off of that and be jazzy. Whereas
- 1:19:35Speaker 3: I would always write it out. So I'd start with
- 1:19:38Speaker 3: a joke and it would be three pages long. And
- 1:19:40Speaker 3: then by the time it was done, it would be
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: one sentence.
- 1:19:43Speaker 2: On a whiteboard, making it seem like a math problem
- 1:19:45Speaker 2: is funny.
- 1:19:45Speaker 3: Oh, but it was like, not a whiteboard.
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: Like a detective.
- 1:19:47Speaker 3: But it was like, you could flip them. The paper,
- 1:19:49Speaker 3: you could flip them.
- 1:19:49Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:19:51Speaker 3: And I just, every day, would write it out and
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: write it out.
- 1:19:54Speaker 2: It's just funny to go, women are stupid, and just
- 1:19:56Speaker 2: keep it up to date.
- 1:19:57Speaker 3: Oh, it's exactly that.
- 1:20:01Speaker 2: This is very funny.
- 1:20:02Speaker 3: Now it would be Cocodrilo. Cocodrilo? Pancakes, it would be,
- 1:20:06Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:20:06Speaker 1: Aligarto.
- 1:20:08Speaker 2: Aligarto.
- 1:20:09Speaker 3: No, it's La Garta.
- 1:20:10Speaker 1: La Garta?
- 1:20:11Speaker 3: How do you say alligator?
- 1:20:12Speaker 1: La Tigra.
- 1:20:13Speaker 3: Legato or something?
- 1:20:16Speaker 2: Do you have someone edit? You post, obviously, you post
- 1:20:19Speaker 2: reels and stuff. Do you have someone post your reels?
- 1:20:21Speaker 1: No, I do everything. You do everything. You think your
- 1:20:24Speaker 1: style of everything you do in stand-up writing is artistic
- 1:20:27Speaker 1: or autistic? What?
- 1:20:32Speaker 3: I can't believe people are still watching. Somebody just wrote,
- 1:20:35Speaker 3: and I am artistic.
- 1:20:36Speaker 2: But they know Felipe.
- 1:20:37Speaker 3: This is Felipe's world. How many listeners do we start with?
- 1:20:41Speaker 1: You have a lot of notes, bro, like a lot
- 1:20:43Speaker 1: of notes. Yes. I still do that.
- 1:20:46Speaker 3: You see me. We see each other in the comedy store.
- 1:20:49Speaker 3: I've got my stack of notes.
- 1:20:51Speaker 1: You know Jeff Wills on Live Nation? He collects set
- 1:20:55Speaker 1: lists from stand-up comics. Like if you leave the show,
- 1:20:59Speaker 1: he'll go there and grab it. Wow. He has a
- 1:21:02Speaker 1: lot of set lists.
- 1:21:03Speaker 2: Just to collect them?
- 1:21:04Speaker 1: Yeah, you know, George Lopez tried to do that, too,
- 1:21:06Speaker 1: one time. He told this story. After George Bush's speech,
- 1:21:10Speaker 1: he went over there and tried to grab that paper
- 1:21:11Speaker 1: and keep it. He said he didn't even make it out.
- 1:21:14Speaker 1: He didn't make a 10-minute walk.
- 1:21:15Speaker 2: Yeah, why would he think that he's going to be
- 1:21:17Speaker 2: able to keep fucking trash from George Bush? That's insane.
- 1:21:21Speaker 2: To even try to go over there full, that's crazy.
- 1:21:24Speaker 1: My favorite joke you ever did was the one, I
- 1:21:26Speaker 1: started the comedy Magic, the one you said about how
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: when you and I were, And everyone in this room
- 1:21:32Speaker 1: except Isaac, we would carry backpacks in high school, like
- 1:21:36Speaker 1: junior high in backpacks. Everybody had a backpack. And now
- 1:21:39Speaker 1: it's kids have backpacks but with a handle on it.
- 1:21:44Speaker 1: The wheels. The wheels and the handle. So it seemed
- 1:21:47Speaker 1: like everybody was boarding on a plane, not going to class.
- 1:21:50Speaker 1: Something like that.
- 1:21:52Speaker 2: Can I ask, now at this stage, how long have
- 1:21:54Speaker 2: you been doing stand-up?
- 1:21:55Speaker 3: 35 maybe, 30 plus years for sure.
- 1:21:58Speaker 2: Yeah, just like what is just everything, just the next special,
- 1:22:02Speaker 2: the next special, the next special? What is like the
- 1:22:06Speaker 2: tail end of your career? Like what do you want
- 1:22:08Speaker 2: to do?
- 1:22:08Speaker 3: Oh, I think the tail end's here.
- 1:22:10Speaker 2: No, you know what I mean. The last 15, 20.
- 1:22:13Speaker 3: I don't know. All I know is the only time
- 1:22:16Speaker 3: I'm completely happy is when I'm on stage.
- 1:22:18Speaker 1: Me too.
- 1:22:18Speaker 3: I'm not completely happy driving to the club, flying to
- 1:22:21Speaker 3: the club or the venue. I'm not happy backstage in
- 1:22:24Speaker 3: the green room. I'm not happy when I go to
- 1:22:27Speaker 3: a baseball game. Completely. There's something there. When I'm on stage,
- 1:22:30Speaker 3: I don't think of anything except for I'm in that moment.
- 1:22:34Speaker 3: I love the audience. I love getting reactions. I love
- 1:22:36Speaker 3: playing with that space, the moment, the energy with laughter
- 1:22:42Speaker 3: or creating spaces where there isn't laughter. I really enjoy it.
- 1:22:47Speaker 3: And I hate, you know, before I came here, I
- 1:22:50Speaker 3: spent half the day looking at contracts for dates for 2027,
- 1:22:52Speaker 3: and I can't stand it. And I can't stand the
- 1:22:57Speaker 3: The business, I can't stand ticket counts. I can't stand
- 1:23:00Speaker 3: any of it. But I love stand-up comedy.
- 1:23:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:23:04Speaker 3: So I can see why you got people like Leno
- 1:23:07Speaker 3: showing up at the clubs. Jay Leno shows up at
- 1:23:10Speaker 3: the improv lab, you know, the comedy store. Comedy and
- 1:23:13Speaker 3: magic because it's in our blood.
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: Also, he wants cash, though.
- 1:23:19Speaker 2: Yeah, he does want cash.
- 1:23:19Speaker 1: Leno?
- 1:23:20Speaker 2: Most people want cash.
- 1:23:21Speaker 3: You think Leno needs cash?
- 1:23:22Speaker 1: I'm too sure. I saw somebody hand him an envelope, bro.
- 1:23:25Speaker 1: I think there was cash in there.
- 1:23:26Speaker 2: Yeah, but you think you're going to Venmo Leno?
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: You know, whatever. You're going to Venmo Leno? That's kind
- 1:23:31Speaker 1: of weird. Hey, here's your cash. I know it's not
- 1:23:34Speaker 1: enough for that oil change on that car.
- 1:23:36Speaker 2: You give the OGs a cash. Like, you give them, like,
- 1:23:38Speaker 2: an envelope full of cash to make them feel comfortable.
- 1:23:40Speaker 2: You're not going to cash-app Leno, you know.
- 1:23:42Speaker 1: What I mean?
- 1:23:43Speaker 2: But what do they do?
- 1:23:45Speaker 3: Like, there are some comics that are making millions and
- 1:23:48Speaker 3: millions and millions a year. And then they hand them, like, cash. Like,
- 1:23:52Speaker 3: what do you do with that? Is that, do you just,
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: do you walk out and just hand it to everybody
- 1:23:56Speaker 3: in the club?
- 1:23:57Speaker 1: Like, what?
- 1:23:58Speaker 2: I think they end up spending it on, like, I think. Sneakers? Yeah, well,
- 1:24:03Speaker 2: I think, like.
- 1:24:04Speaker 1: Go ahead. I remember going to the Laugh Factory to
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: pick up my $ 29 check from the Laugh Factory, 30 bucks.
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: 30 bucks. And I'm looking, going through my name, brr, brr, brr, brr, brr, brr.
- 1:24:14Speaker 1: Then I see fucking Bob Saget, right? Fuck. 11 envelopes.
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: He's like, he don't give a fuck about these envelopes.
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: Then I see all these other comedians, Arsenio Hall. Like,
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: he has this many stacks of envelopes that he's not grabbing.
- 1:24:29Speaker 2: Because it's about the rep, man.
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: And then me and, because they're already successful, of course.
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: But then me and Paula Bell, bro, we're trying to
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: find our name in there to fucking grab our 30 bucks.
- 1:24:40Speaker 2: Yeah. I'm like that right now. I have two checks
- 1:24:42Speaker 2: waiting for me at the Laugh Factory right now.
- 1:24:44Speaker 1: You're going to grab them, right?
- 1:24:45Speaker 2: Burn a hole in my pocket, man, because I need
- 1:24:46Speaker 2: that shit. I'm not going to act like I don't.
- 1:24:48Speaker 2: You know, like it's when you don't have that level
- 1:24:51Speaker 2: of fame, like every $ 150, every $ 100, $ 50.
- 1:24:53Speaker 1: Remember when Lisa was a waitress at the Laugh Factory?
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: This comic came in, and he used, you know, they
- 1:25:03Speaker 1: pay you $ 29 for that set? Mm-hmm. He said that
- 1:25:08Speaker 1: he tried to use those $ 20, $ 29 from that night
- 1:25:12Speaker 1: to pay for his drinks for tonight.
- 1:25:14Speaker 3: Hmm. Shouldn't he get free drinks? I've never paid for drinks.
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: He had two drinks already, but he already used them up.
- 1:25:20Speaker 2: Oh, so he's alcohol.
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: But now he's going to get fucked up.
- 1:25:22Speaker 2: Yeah, he wants to get fucked up.
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: And then the bill was like $ 45. Yeah. So they
- 1:25:27Speaker 1: had to go write him the check for those $ 29
- 1:25:30Speaker 1: tonight to pay for the drinks then.
- 1:25:33Speaker 3: It's like a casino. Yeah. Yeah. I didn't know the
- 1:25:36Speaker 3: Laugh Factory church.
- 1:25:36Speaker 1: And he didn't help you get in, too, because he
- 1:25:38Speaker 1: was in a wheelchair.
- 1:25:40Speaker 2: They don't want booze bags there.
- 1:25:41Speaker 1: Just put it on my tab.
- 1:25:45Speaker 2: Oh, my God.
- 1:25:46Speaker 3: Remember the old days? We'd drink with all the comics
- 1:25:49Speaker 3: drank at the Laugh Factory and the owner.
- 1:25:51Speaker 1: You ever got fucked up at a Laugh Factory? You
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: don't drink, right? I would.
- 1:25:55Speaker 3: Remember Mitch Mulaney?
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:25:57Speaker 3: We used to go out afterwards. He was fun.
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: Yeah, he was an animal.
- 1:26:01Speaker 3: You can do it. Remember that joke he would do?
- 1:26:04Speaker 2: I only know him through the context of the WB
- 1:26:05Speaker 2: show that he was on.
- 1:26:06Speaker 3: He used to be very social. One night I went
- 1:26:09Speaker 3: out with Saget afterwards and he cock-blocked me.
- 1:26:13Speaker 2: How did he cock-block you?
- 1:26:14Speaker 3: Isn't there a club next door at the Laugh Factory?
- 1:26:17Speaker 1: Yeah, Noel or Noah back in the day.
- 1:26:21Speaker 3: Yeah, so he always had hot women around. And so...
- 1:26:25Speaker 3: We went next door with all these women. Have you
- 1:26:26Speaker 3: heard this story?
- 1:26:27Speaker 1: Never.
- 1:26:28Speaker 3: No, no.
- 1:26:29Speaker 1: 1935 years.
- 1:26:31Speaker 3: Yeah, so we're sitting there, and there's a booth, and
- 1:26:34Speaker 3: Saget's in the booth with all these women, and I'm
- 1:26:37Speaker 3: talking to one behind Saget. I don't think anyone's listening.
- 1:26:42Speaker 3: We're talking, and I'm trying to get to know her,
- 1:26:44Speaker 3: and I said, what do you do? And she said,
- 1:26:47Speaker 3: I'll give you a hint. I've seen more vaginas than
- 1:26:51Speaker 3: you've seen. Saget turns around and goes, not horny. And
- 1:26:59Speaker 3: she lost interest.
- 1:27:01Speaker 2: Fuck!
- 1:27:02Speaker 3: Not more than Orny.
- 1:27:04Speaker 2: Fuck, I'd rather be called Christopher Walken right then and
- 1:27:06Speaker 2: there than that shit. Holy shit, dude.
- 1:27:11Speaker 1: Damn, man.
- 1:27:13Speaker 3: That was... I mean, comics... You know, when I started...
- 1:27:18Speaker 3: And then I would get to New York. It wasn't
- 1:27:20Speaker 3: a celebrity game. It was about who was funny.
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: That's all it was.
- 1:27:23Speaker 3: So like the comedy seller, Esty, they're not putting comics
- 1:27:26Speaker 3: on that have credits for being on soap operas or
- 1:27:29Speaker 3: whatever or some movie. You had to be a killer.
- 1:27:32Speaker 3: And you were respected if you were a killer. That's
- 1:27:35Speaker 3: not the game anymore.
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: No.
- 1:27:36Speaker 3: I talked on my podcast, which came out last night,
- 1:27:39Speaker 3: the episode. I said, I have something that is meaningless
- 1:27:44Speaker 3: in stand-up comedy. A sense of humor. Like, I'm funny.
- 1:27:49Speaker 3: Funny is secondary to comedy.
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: Listen, Boomer. Listen.
- 1:27:52Speaker 3: Okay. Okay. Okay. Put the mask on.
- 1:27:56Speaker 1: Sorry, bro.
- 1:27:57Speaker 3: I don't want to kick your beautiful face, but I will.
- 1:28:00Speaker 2: No, you are correct. It's watered down now.
- 1:28:02Speaker 3: If you go to these streaming services, they want to
- 1:28:06Speaker 3: know how many followers you have. They want to know
- 1:28:08Speaker 3: how many tickets you're selling. It isn't about, like, listen,
- 1:28:12Speaker 3: if they were presented a stand-up special from somebody that
- 1:28:15Speaker 3: no one had ever heard of, but it was the
- 1:28:16Speaker 3: best thing they ever saw, they should put it on.
- 1:28:18Speaker 3: Do you think they would?
- 1:28:20Speaker 2: No, that gets flooded. No, that gets flooded.
- 1:28:22Speaker 3: It's the cool kids. Guess who was never the cool kid?
- 1:28:25Speaker 2: But it's also like.
- 1:28:26Speaker 1: Like Jamie Masada said, but you got to wear a suit, buddy. Yeah.
- 1:28:30Speaker 2: Jamie Masada is not wrong about 2026. You got to
- 1:28:32Speaker 2: wear a suit.
- 1:28:33Speaker 3: He told me to wear a suit recently.
- 1:28:35Speaker 1: He told me to back 20 years ago. I told him, man,
- 1:28:38Speaker 1: they couldn't wear a suit. He did a special. with
- 1:28:40Speaker 1: the tank top on. What are you talking about?
- 1:28:41Speaker 2: Who did he tell to wear a fucking turban? Who
- 1:28:43Speaker 2: was it?
- 1:28:44Speaker 3: I forget.
- 1:28:45Speaker 2: It was not even a turban.
- 1:28:47Speaker 1: Maz.
- 1:28:47Speaker 2: Maz Gibroni. He told him to wear a fucking turban.
- 1:28:50Speaker 1: I'm the one who told me that Jamie Massad told him.
- 1:28:55Speaker 1: That he should put on a football shoulder pad and
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: a football.
- 1:29:01Speaker 3: Oh, that's with Nelson.
- 1:29:02Speaker 1: There was a comic named Nelson. And he should be
- 1:29:04Speaker 1: the football comic. Exactly. Jameis Tyler will give you tags
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: that belong to other comics. And he told, Brad Willis
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: told me that Jameis Tyler told him that he should
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: grab all the little people he knows in Hollywood so
- 1:29:17Speaker 1: they can have the biggest little people comedy show ever.
- 1:29:20Speaker 1: Ever at the Laugh Factory.
- 1:29:21Speaker 2: The craziest thing is that thing going back now, obviously
- 1:29:24Speaker 2: this person used to just be funny, right? That's the perspective.
- 1:29:27Speaker 2: But now, they were kind of ahead of their time
- 1:29:29Speaker 2: because of reels and social media. Because that football comic
- 1:29:31Speaker 2: would have X amount of views. Sure. This Turban comic,
- 1:29:35Speaker 2: the Mexican comic with the suit. It's wrestling. Yeah, they
- 1:29:38Speaker 2: would be a personality that people would roll through. That's
- 1:29:41Speaker 2: the unfortunate. They were ahead of their time.
- 1:29:43Speaker 1: Now, bro, like... Like Angela Johnson, I don't know how
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: many years ago now it is that her special came out,
- 1:29:51Speaker 1: but it was like, it showed up in my algorithm.
- 1:29:54Speaker 1: Angela Johnson nail bit. That was like the first two-minute
- 1:29:57Speaker 1: viral bit that went viral.
- 1:29:59Speaker 2: And she only had like five, six minutes from what
- 1:30:01Speaker 2: I understand at the time. Like she was just starting out.
- 1:30:03Speaker 1: Yeah, Al Madrigal used to feature with 45 minutes.
- 1:30:07Speaker 2: Are you fucking serious? That's fucking crazy.
- 1:30:10Speaker 1: Al Madrigal went with her on the road as her
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: opener for the first... a couple of times that she
- 1:30:15Speaker 1: went out because she was selling out everything.
- 1:30:18Speaker 2: But that's what it is. That's always been the game, though.
- 1:30:20Speaker 2: You got to be able to.
- 1:30:20Speaker 1: Fucking sell tickets. But now, bro, she has like fucking
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: five specials fucking writing. She has another special that just
- 1:30:24Speaker 1: came out.
- 1:30:25Speaker 2: And she can sell tickets. And that's the game, though.
- 1:30:27Speaker 1: I can't sell tickets. But that was her. And then, man,
- 1:30:31Speaker 1: I remember, man, my fucking first special, bro, I did
- 1:30:36Speaker 1: it on Showtime with Scott Montoya. They did three specials
- 1:30:41Speaker 1: that night. Bobcat Goldwade. And then... That guy, Dan Friesen? Friesen?
- 1:30:46Speaker 3: Yeah. Don Friesen.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Don Friesen, my man. Him and I would do
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: an open mic together. Him, and I was the third comic.
- 1:30:55Speaker 1: It was on Showtime. It played for two years, right? Nothing.
- 1:31:00Speaker 1: But the people who produced that special decided to put
- 1:31:03Speaker 1: my special on Netflix. So they put it on Netflix. Bro,
- 1:31:06Speaker 1: I started selling out tickets. I got an agent, a
- 1:31:08Speaker 1: different agent right away. Then a woman who I didn't
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: know cuts... Eight minutes, her favorite eight minutes of the special,
- 1:31:18Speaker 1: and puts it on her Facebook page. She has like 1,000
- 1:31:20Speaker 1: followers only. Eight million views, bro, in like six days
- 1:31:25Speaker 1: on her page. And people are wondering, no names. She
- 1:31:28Speaker 1: didn't even put my name. She didn't put nothing. Every
- 1:31:31Speaker 1: night I'm going, I'm Felipe Esparza, by the way. But
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: I should have known then, but now I put out
- 1:31:38Speaker 1: a two-minute reel every week. But before, I should have
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: recognized it then, you know, that. I should have just
- 1:31:45Speaker 1: cut three minutes right away like that lady did.
- 1:31:49Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:31:49Speaker 2: But it's hindsight.
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: You have reels that go viral, right? Yeah.
- 1:31:52Speaker 3: What's viral?
- 1:31:53Speaker 1: A million, two million? A million, a hundred thousand or
- 1:31:55Speaker 1: more in the first night?
- 1:31:57Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah.
- 1:31:58Speaker 1: Do you get surprised by people recognizing your old bitch
- 1:32:01Speaker 1: from back in the day and now they're realizing?
- 1:32:03Speaker 3: I'm surprised anybody knows me.
- 1:32:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:32:05Speaker 3: It's still to this day, I'm just like, because I
- 1:32:07Speaker 3: go out and I just act normal and somebody... I
- 1:32:10Speaker 3: prefer if you do know me by chance that you
- 1:32:13Speaker 3: let me know and not sort of like hit me
- 1:32:15Speaker 3: up on Instagram later. Oh, you'd like.
- 1:32:18Speaker 2: To know right in the moment.
- 1:32:19Speaker 3: You were behind me on the plane. Yeah, because I'll
- 1:32:21Speaker 3: act differently.
- 1:32:23Speaker 1: Or where? You're so funny. We just stumbled upon this show.
- 1:32:26Speaker 1: We're looking for something to do. I like those.
- 1:32:28Speaker 3: You like those, yeah.
- 1:32:29Speaker 1: Yeah. I didn't know who I was.
- 1:32:31Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: Now they could go watch a plethora of my stuff.
- 1:32:34Speaker 3: But don't you love that? We do those shows horribly
- 1:32:37Speaker 3: funny at the comedy store, right? In the main room.
- 1:32:40Speaker 3: And it's packed.
- 1:32:41Speaker 2: Packed.
- 1:32:42Speaker 3: And it's every banger in town.
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: Everyone.
- 1:32:45Speaker 3: It's Sebastian, Eliza.
- 1:32:47Speaker 1: It's Bert. It's Lino.
- 1:32:50Speaker 3: It's Dave Spade, Felipe.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: Jessamay Palusa.
- 1:32:53Speaker 3: Yeah. And it's me.
- 1:32:55Speaker 1: And then... And then that homeboy from Entourage, too. Who? Oh, no.
- 1:33:01Speaker 3: He's not on that show.
- 1:33:02Speaker 1: I seen him one time on our show. Wait, wait.
- 1:33:04Speaker 2: Okay. It's... Yeah, but it's just like a lot of
- 1:33:06Speaker 2: different killers on that show.
- 1:33:07Speaker 3: But what's great is everybody, some people are there for
- 1:33:10Speaker 3: this person, that person. You get to get up there,
- 1:33:12Speaker 3: and there's always people that don't know you, and it's fun.
- 1:33:15Speaker 2: Being the least famous person there.
- 1:33:17Speaker 3: Yeah, you got to earn it.
- 1:33:18Speaker 1: You got to earn it, man.
- 1:33:20Speaker 3: Yeah, it's not a cakewalk.
- 1:33:22Speaker 2: That's the beauty of the store, though, or the improv,
- 1:33:24Speaker 2: is that it's a.
- 1:33:25Speaker 1: Lot of that. I got a laugh on that show
- 1:33:27Speaker 1: by Stan Chappelle's coming up. Lacey. Oh.
- 1:33:30Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:33:33Speaker 2: But you just being a paid regular there is kind
- 1:33:35Speaker 2: of bad shit, though.
- 1:33:36Speaker 1: You think this is your stick to be this guy
- 1:33:38Speaker 1: on stage? Like, your stick to be like, oh, man,
- 1:33:42Speaker 1: I'm really not happy with my career, but I'm happy
- 1:33:44Speaker 1: with my career.
- 1:33:45Speaker 3: What do you mean? I'm stuck on the word stick.
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: Sounds anti-Semitic.
- 1:33:51Speaker 3: Let's start there.
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: Yeah. You know, like, this is you, man, like the
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: loathsome traveler, you know.
- 1:34:00Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:34:02Speaker 2: I like that, that lonesome traveler.
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: Yeah, bro, like, you know, like, I'm at the edge,
- 1:34:07Speaker 1: you know, but I still want to fix this, you know?
- 1:34:12Speaker 3: I don't think, I think if I was selling out stadiums,
- 1:34:14Speaker 3: I'd still be unhappy. You know, that's the trick of
- 1:34:18Speaker 3: my career, yeah.
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: That's funny, man, like, some comics do find something to
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: be unhappy about.
- 1:34:23Speaker 3: Well, I would be like, when Burt was here last week,
- 1:34:25Speaker 3: was that, were there seats, some empty seats in that section?
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: Were those.
- 1:34:29Speaker 3: You know, like did they have, you know, like I'd
- 1:34:30Speaker 3: always find something.
- 1:34:32Speaker 1: You ask those questions? You think you're more worried about
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: it than you are now?
- 1:34:36Speaker 3: Oh, I would hate, I would hate the anxiety of
- 1:34:39Speaker 3: having to please 30,000 plus people on one show.
- 1:34:43Speaker 1: That's how I feel, bro.
- 1:34:46Speaker 3: When I go in, like, you know, like I was
- 1:34:48Speaker 3: in the OR the other night, the original room at
- 1:34:51Speaker 3: the comedy store. And the night that I auditioned or showcased,
- 1:34:55Speaker 3: it wasn't packed, right? I'm like, I love this. This
- 1:34:58Speaker 3: is what I came up in, right? The expectations are lower.
- 1:35:02Speaker 3: I don't have to worry about the people back there.
- 1:35:04Speaker 3: I can see everybody right here.
- 1:35:06Speaker 2: You're too comfortable. You probably crush.
- 1:35:07Speaker 3: I love it. I love it. When I'm on, you know,
- 1:35:11Speaker 3: we play theaters and you can't see to the back.
- 1:35:14Speaker 3: It's like, well, how do you connect to those people?
- 1:35:18Speaker 3: Sometimes I look like I'm looking somebody in the eye.
- 1:35:20Speaker 3: I don't even know if somebody's there, but I pretend
- 1:35:22Speaker 3: like I'm like, you know, like this. Can't see him.
- 1:35:25Speaker 2: But I must tell you, though, you just got passed,
- 1:35:28Speaker 2: but I feel like you are getting the respect of position.
- 1:35:33Speaker 2: You just got passed, but she's still giving you like,
- 1:35:35Speaker 2: this is an OG. Let's put him up at X
- 1:35:37Speaker 2: time because we know he's going to murder there. Versus myself,
- 1:35:41Speaker 2: I'm still young and I've been passed for two years,
- 1:35:43Speaker 2: but she's still giving me the midnight.
- 1:35:46Speaker 3: The 1 a.m. How did the other comedians feel about you?
- 1:35:49Speaker 1: They were without respect for you, especially on this podcast.
- 1:35:51Speaker 2: They were surprised that you weren't passed to.
- 1:35:52Speaker 1: Begin with, man. Also, the way you handled yourself on
- 1:35:55Speaker 1: this podcast by not giving up that number and how
- 1:35:59Speaker 1: this guy is a true friend. He's not a kind
- 1:36:02Speaker 1: of person that's going to get involved in someone else's beef.
- 1:36:06Speaker 1: I'm cool with everybody. And they like that.
- 1:36:08Speaker 3: Well, I am cool. You know, like, just because you're
- 1:36:10Speaker 3: beefing with somebody doesn't mean I'm going to capitulate. I'm
- 1:36:13Speaker 3: going to go even be funny about it because I just,
- 1:36:17Speaker 3: you know.
- 1:36:17Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, because there's those 1 a.m. spots that just
- 1:36:21Speaker 2: because you just got there, you're still getting that.
- 1:36:23Speaker 1: Yeah, what's the beef with you and Neil Brandon?
- 1:36:27Speaker 3: I wish I had beef with him. That'd be great.
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: Two prolific, good fucking comedy writers beefing it together, bro.
- 1:36:34Speaker 3: Neil and I used to hang out.
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: Who do you think will win? You and him sit down?
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: 20 minutes each, come up with a fucking new set
- 1:36:40Speaker 1: right now. You know what?
- 1:36:41Speaker 3: I wanted to do a TV show of exactly that
- 1:36:43Speaker 3: because if we were given like, okay, Ernie, Felipe, Neil, you,
- 1:36:48Speaker 3: forgot your name. If we're going to, you know... I'm kidding.
- 1:36:51Speaker 1: Dunos.
- 1:36:52Speaker 3: Dunos. No, it's not Dunos. Cocodrilo.
- 1:36:55Speaker 1: Cocodrilo.
- 1:36:56Speaker 2: I'm Cocodrilo.
- 1:36:56Speaker 3: If you put us in a room and said, everybody
- 1:36:58Speaker 3: write 10 minutes on a Cocodrilo, everybody's going to come
- 1:37:01Speaker 3: up with different stuff. That's why I never bought this like, oh,
- 1:37:05Speaker 3: comedians can't talk about this topic. Like, we're going to
- 1:37:08Speaker 3: come up with different shit based on our past and
- 1:37:11Speaker 3: the way our heads write stuff. So I don't think
- 1:37:13Speaker 3: there's anything wrong with comics covering the same topics.
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:37:18Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not wrong about that.
- 1:37:20Speaker 1: You think that'd be a good one, though? What? His fool,
- 1:37:22Speaker 1: Neil Brennan, 20 Minutes, who could come up with the
- 1:37:24Speaker 1: best bits about crocodiles.
- 1:37:26Speaker 2: It's a good pitch for a show, like you said.
- 1:37:27Speaker 1: Crocodiles, crepes, and beefs.
- 1:37:30Speaker 3: Cayman.
- 1:37:32Speaker 2: And not everyone can do that, though, is come up
- 1:37:35Speaker 2: with the 20-minute coming together, right? Because I don't know
- 1:37:37Speaker 2: if I can. Can you sit down and write 20 minutes? Like,
- 1:37:40Speaker 2: if you have 20 minutes, write.
- 1:37:42Speaker 1: Hey, I got a question.
- 1:37:42Speaker 3: These people that are giving money, what portion do I get?
- 1:37:45Speaker 3: I see $ 2.
- 1:37:46Speaker 1: No, that's not number two.
- 1:37:48Speaker 3: I got six. I see six bucks on the screen.
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: No, he's the number two listener.
- 1:37:52Speaker 2: These are like loyal super fans.
- 1:37:54Speaker 1: You want money? Show them money.
- 1:37:57Speaker 3: No, no, show money on my GoFundMe for my special.
- 1:38:00Speaker 2: Go ahead and show them your GoFundMe for your special. Yeah,
- 1:38:03Speaker 2: that's what it does.
- 1:38:04Speaker 3: It's almost a quick job.
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: So where are you going to be at this weekend?
- 1:38:06Speaker 1: Are you touring? No, I'm here.
- 1:38:08Speaker 3: I'm doing the Laugh Factory Improv and Comedy Store, Comedy
- 1:38:12Speaker 3: Store tonight. I got a 10-15. I'm in the OR.
- 1:38:15Speaker 3: I'm in the main room Friday. What are you guys
- 1:38:18Speaker 3: laughing at? It's so funny. What's that? Where is it?
- 1:38:24Speaker 3: Which one?
- 1:38:26Speaker 1: Quick.
- 1:38:29Speaker 2: Do it better.
- 1:38:29Speaker 1: How about?
- 1:38:30Speaker 2: How quick you can piss off a podcast.
- 1:38:31Speaker 1: Guess hilariously oh i say i uh.
- 1:38:37Speaker 3: How quick you can piss off this number two guy
- 1:38:40Speaker 3: let me tell you something ain't number one okay comments
- 1:38:42Speaker 3: like that Look at number one. Practice with a microphone. See,
- 1:38:45Speaker 3: that's why he's number one. Has shit emojis and stuff 100%.
- 1:38:48Speaker 1: So he is Jewish.
- 1:38:50Speaker 3: Number one, got a bowl of oatmeal. Number two, let's
- 1:38:53Speaker 3: go pick up the peace. Pick up the peace. Do
- 1:38:56Speaker 3: a bit about how quickly you piss off a podcast.
- 1:38:58Speaker 2: You're working the war tonight?
- 1:39:01Speaker 3: The thing is, it's just number one and number two.
- 1:39:03Speaker 3: There's no number three, four, five, six.
- 1:39:05Speaker 1: I know.
- 1:39:05Speaker 3: Where's everybody else?
- 1:39:07Speaker 1: I don't know. I'm at hiding.
- 1:39:09Speaker 2: So you got a spot in the OR tonight.
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: But we need a controversy in the pocket, bro. It's
- 1:39:12Speaker 1: been lacking. No, no, we got one. You just had
- 1:39:14Speaker 1: one for us. I feel like with the screen right here,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: I feel like when— Screen, it's a curtain. When Kramer
- 1:39:24Speaker 1: had his own show and it was like they had
- 1:39:26Speaker 1: nothing but— Remember when Kramer finds that set on the
- 1:39:31Speaker 1: Cypher show? Yeah, he finds the set on Cypher.
- 1:39:33Speaker 2: It's a classic. Yeah.
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: And they had nothing but bunion stories. Yeah, yeah. But
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: that was our podcast for the last couple of weeks,
- 1:39:40Speaker 1: bunion stories. Therefore, you had that out, Joe Boyd. But
- 1:39:43Speaker 1: now we have Orny Adams bringing in a bird.
- 1:39:47Speaker 3: Who was the guest last week?
- 1:39:51Speaker 1: Oh, it was Do Nose and Jakarta.
- 1:39:53Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:39:55Speaker 1: 19,000 views, these young motherfuckers.
- 1:39:57Speaker 3: At 1 in the morning, when you're texting me to
- 1:39:59Speaker 3: be on your podcast, what made you think to have
- 1:40:01Speaker 3: me on? What made you think?
- 1:40:03Speaker 1: Oh, I'm a fan. I like your writing skills. I
- 1:40:06Speaker 1: like everything you do, how you prepare yourself for a joke.
- 1:40:10Speaker 1: Everything you do, you know. Sometimes when I feel like
- 1:40:14Speaker 1: I bombed, I say, well, I got to Orny Adams
- 1:40:16Speaker 1: that joke and dig it up. Stop giving up.
- 1:40:21Speaker 2: You're a hell of a performer.
- 1:40:22Speaker 3: Well, thank you.
- 1:40:23Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: But on Seinfeld, man, I didn't know and I felt
- 1:40:27Speaker 1: bad that... that you're not that person on that movie
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: because they made you look like a bad guy. But
- 1:40:34Speaker 1: then I realized that, oh, Seinfeld has to look good,
- 1:40:37Speaker 1: so they made you the bad guy.
- 1:40:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean, if you listened, I did Marc Maron's podcast.
- 1:40:41Speaker 1: That's where I first saw it. And I said, nah, man,
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: this guy's a good guy.
- 1:40:45Speaker 3: Oh, thank you.
- 1:40:46Speaker 1: Instigated by a good guy.
- 1:40:47Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 1:40:49Speaker 3: I didn't even mean to instigate.
- 1:40:49Speaker 1: That's not good.
- 1:40:50Speaker 2: Do you necessarily, because you were like, I did that
- 1:40:52Speaker 2: so long ago, do you not consider that even a
- 1:40:54Speaker 2: credit anymore because it's.
- 1:40:55Speaker 3: So long ago?
- 1:40:56Speaker 1: No, no.
- 1:40:57Speaker 2: Because as a comic, that shouldn't necessarily be your credit,
- 1:41:02Speaker 2: but that's a lot of what a lot of us
- 1:41:03Speaker 2: remember you from.
- 1:41:04Speaker 3: I know, but it's time for everyone to move on.
- 1:41:08Speaker 3: And maybe it's my fault for not doing something that
- 1:41:11Speaker 3: makes people talk more about that.
- 1:41:12Speaker 2: And it's not even that, man. You still have a
- 1:41:16Speaker 2: long career, but it's just that that's like, Man, that's
- 1:41:20Speaker 2: the thing that Orny was on. It was really cool.
- 1:41:22Speaker 2: Because just like as a person who's a comic now,
- 1:41:24Speaker 2: because I've watched that a bunch of times.
- 1:41:25Speaker 3: That's why I love Teen Wolf. It was a distraction.
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: Look at me.
- 1:41:28Speaker 2: I'll never watch Teen Wolf. I'll never watch Teen Wolf.
- 1:41:32Speaker 2: But I'll watch.
- 1:41:32Speaker 3: Comedian over and over. We're watching it on the plane
- 1:41:34Speaker 3: to Hawaii.
- 1:41:34Speaker 2: I swear to God I will not. But I'll watch
- 1:41:37Speaker 2: Comedian over and over.
- 1:41:38Speaker 1: What was Teen Wolf's name on Teen Wolf?
- 1:41:40Speaker 2: What is his name on Teen Wolf?
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: The actor.
- 1:41:41Speaker 2: Oh, I don't know. I bet you you don't know either.
- 1:41:44Speaker 1: Who?
- 1:41:45Speaker 2: Dylan O'Brien.
- 1:41:46Speaker 3: Fuck, okay. Yup.
- 1:41:48Speaker 2: Who else?
- 1:41:49Speaker 3: Matthew McConaughey.
- 1:41:52Speaker 2: Shut the fuck up.
- 1:41:54Speaker 3: No, it's not.
- 1:41:55Speaker 1: I did a movie with a guy from Teen Wolf.
- 1:41:57Speaker 3: Which one?
- 1:41:58Speaker 2: Oh, Blue Beetle Kid?
- 1:41:59Speaker 1: No, that's not Blue Beetle Kid.
- 1:42:01Speaker 2: I'm racist now.
- 1:42:03Speaker 1: His name is Parker, right?
- 1:42:04Speaker 3: No, this is the old, there's a TV show.
- 1:42:07Speaker 2: That's not it.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: Nickelodeon, right?
- 1:42:08Speaker 2: We were talking about the MTV TV show. No, it
- 1:42:09Speaker 2: was on MTV originally. Kids don't know this shit. They
- 1:42:12Speaker 2: don't even know that this comes from that.
- 1:42:13Speaker 1: Who's Teen Wolf in this show? Let me see it.
- 1:42:16Speaker 2: He sung with the one, it came out in like 20, what?
- 1:42:18Speaker 3: Yeah, Tyler Posey.
- 1:42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, I did a movie with Tyler Posey.
- 1:42:21Speaker 2: That's the one right there. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:42:25Speaker 3: Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed, Holland, these are all.
- 1:42:28Speaker 1: Oh, that deal was very cool. When this show was on,
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: they did a movie in 2010 called Taco Shop with
- 1:42:35Speaker 1: Rick Najera and George Perez. And Tyler, he was the
- 1:42:40Speaker 1: main star. And I play a guy with no lines,
- 1:42:43Speaker 1: by the way. Wow. I had to mumble through.
- 1:42:46Speaker 3: All these are the nicest. Go over the cow. I'll
- 1:42:48Speaker 3: go over who's trouble and who isn't. But they're all amazing.
- 1:42:52Speaker 2: You're doing anti-beef shit here. I don't appreciate it, Orny.
- 1:42:55Speaker 3: Yeah, nice, nice, nice. Sprayberry's nice. Shelly. They're all amazing. Colton, great.
- 1:43:01Speaker 3: Arden's great.
- 1:43:02Speaker 2: These are actors with hope, Orny.
- 1:43:04Speaker 1: No, no.
- 1:43:04Speaker 3: Because I can tell you there are some people. There's
- 1:43:07Speaker 3: not a single person that, I mean, J.R.R. Linden. These
- 1:43:11Speaker 3: are just the Carver brothers. Kylan. Yeah, there isn't a
- 1:43:15Speaker 3: single person. But it's the same thing as stand-up.
- 1:43:17Speaker 2: There's Orny right there. Yeah, I got Orny right there
- 1:43:21Speaker 2: in the middle playing Coach Bobby.
- 1:43:23Speaker 3: Why don't you pull up my reel? Go on YouTube.
- 1:43:26Speaker 1: Pull up his IMDb.
- 1:43:27Speaker 2: Why don't you fucking get in his eye? Don't get
- 1:43:29Speaker 2: his IMDb, the fuck. Get out of here.
- 1:43:32Speaker 3: Team Wolf Voice, they say funny moments.
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: Where do we go?
- 1:43:36Speaker 3: Whoever's making this computer is giving me a headache.
- 1:43:39Speaker 2: No, it's fine. Damn, 2011.
- 1:43:42Speaker 1: You're like John Lithgow right there.
- 1:43:44Speaker 3: Yeah, look at that. 2011. Wow. So it just got
- 1:43:48Speaker 3: put back on Netflix.
- 1:43:50Speaker 2: Okay.
- 1:43:50Speaker 3: Which I didn't even know.
- 1:43:51Speaker 2: Are you getting money for that?
- 1:43:52Speaker 3: I scroll over. I'm the scroll over.
- 1:43:54Speaker 2: That's great.
- 1:43:56Speaker 3: I'm the scroll over. It's me and Dylan O'Brien. I go,
- 1:44:00Speaker 3: that's amazing. Yeah, that's me and Dylan on the right.
- 1:44:03Speaker 3: Famous scene. Me blowing the whistle.
- 1:44:07Speaker 1: Blow the whistle.
- 1:44:09Speaker 2: Do you get residuals for that?
- 1:44:10Speaker 1: Yes.
- 1:44:10Speaker 2: That's amazing.
- 1:44:11Speaker 1: Still do.
- 1:44:12Speaker 2: Well, only because I'm watching Westworld right now. I had
- 1:44:15Speaker 2: to buy it off of Amazon because it's not streaming
- 1:44:17Speaker 2: on HBO anymore because they don't want to pay those
- 1:44:19Speaker 2: actors the residuals.
- 1:44:21Speaker 3: They have to pay them if you buy it.
- 1:44:23Speaker 2: If I buy it, yeah, but that's why they're not
- 1:44:27Speaker 2: streaming it on HBO so that they don't get that
- 1:44:29Speaker 2: money because of how expensive that show was.
- 1:44:31Speaker 1: What were you wanting after this show? Nothing. No?
- 1:44:34Speaker 3: No, this podcast is for... The next big production. Ah,
- 1:44:37Speaker 3: the next big production.
- 1:44:39Speaker 2: He became a chismoso, Doug.
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 1:44:41Speaker 3: I don't want to play this. Don't do that.
- 1:44:43Speaker 2: Fool beefing.
- 1:44:44Speaker 3: Fool beefing. Fool beefing.
- 1:44:47Speaker 2: Nah, man. It's going to be fucking... What's up, Vodka?
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:44:51Speaker 2: What's up, Vodka? What's up, Vodka, Doug?
- 1:44:54Speaker 3: Are we going to... Is this going to be like
- 1:44:56Speaker 3: a Craig Robinson show? We're just going to keep going
- 1:44:58Speaker 3: until nobody's watching?
- 1:44:59Speaker 2: I feel like the vibe just keeps going.
- 1:45:01Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm going to come in with a birthday cake.
- 1:45:04Speaker 3: Craig, he's such a special talent, too. I love Craig.
- 1:45:07Speaker 1: The first time I met Craig, bro, I was doing
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: a show in Mesquite, Nevada, and I was the opener.
- 1:45:14Speaker 1: And there was a featured act, and he was the headliner.
- 1:45:17Speaker 1: Or was he the featured act? I don't know. He
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: was not the headliner. There was another older man. He
- 1:45:23Speaker 1: was the fucking headliner. And that was the first time
- 1:45:29Speaker 1: I met him, right? But he told me, man, this place...
- 1:45:34Speaker 1: Served the best coconut shrimp.
- 1:45:36Speaker 3: Oh, you got sick.
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: It was good, dude. I never had coconut shrimp. I
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: ate it all. He loves.
- 1:45:42Speaker 2: Oh, you didn't throw up?
- 1:45:43Speaker 3: You didn't get sick? Oh.
- 1:45:45Speaker 2: I love that you fucking remember. That's your distinct memory.
- 1:45:48Speaker 3: It's usually the food.
- 1:45:49Speaker 1: I was sober back then. I can't believe I did
- 1:45:54Speaker 1: stand up sober. What's up, Food Podcast? Orny Adams right here, man.
- 1:45:59Speaker 1: Go check out his special when it comes out. When
- 1:46:01Speaker 1: is it coming out?
- 1:46:02Speaker 3: Well, I'll let you know. I'll be back on.
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: You could come back on, bro.
- 1:46:05Speaker 2: Plug all your info, Orny.
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: Bring your friend with you. What's up, fool? So we're
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: through here, right here, man? Is this you trying to
- 1:46:10Speaker 1: wrap it up? No. We could do a whole hour
- 1:46:13Speaker 1: and a half, another hour and a half. There I am.
- 1:46:15Speaker 3: What's that? Oh, it's Instagram.
- 1:46:20Speaker 2: Orny Adams.
- 1:46:20Speaker 3: Thanks for following.
- 1:46:22Speaker 1: 57 million followers? I don't have my glasses on.
- 1:46:25Speaker 2: Half a million followers.
- 1:46:26Speaker 1: That's a lot of followers. Shout out.
- 1:46:29Speaker 2: Go follow Orny Adams. And, yeah, I've got a special
- 1:46:34Speaker 2: coming out with Felipe Esparza presents Sao Trujillo. We're doing
- 1:46:38Speaker 2: that October 8th. Two shows, 7 o'clock and 10 o'clock.
- 1:46:41Speaker 2: Shooting is special. Shooting is special. Shooting is special. We're
- 1:46:45Speaker 2: shooting a special October 8th. Felipe is producing. Felipe is
- 1:46:48Speaker 2: on it. And, yeah, I'm closing it out doing like 40-ish.
- 1:46:52Speaker 2: It's going to be a lot of fun. Please come
- 1:46:55Speaker 2: out to that. Tickets are in the bio. Tickets are
- 1:46:57Speaker 2: also available. Felipe's website.
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: I'll be at the Kansas City Comedy Club next week.
- 1:47:01Speaker 1: You're going too, right?
- 1:47:02Speaker 2: I'm featuring for Felipe at the Kansas City Comedy Club.
- 1:47:05Speaker 3: What club is that? Is that the improv?
- 1:47:07Speaker 1: No. No.
- 1:47:08Speaker 3: There's no way. Do you not work for the improvs?
- 1:47:11Speaker 1: I do, but not at that one.
- 1:47:12Speaker 2: It's not a funny bone, is it?
- 1:47:13Speaker 1: No, it's the Kansas City Comedy Club. The guy that
- 1:47:16Speaker 1: owns it used to work at, he's a comic that
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: used to work at Blappers.
- 1:47:19Speaker 3: It's not Stanford and Sons, is it?
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: No, I wish.
- 1:47:23Speaker 3: No, you don't.
- 1:47:23Speaker 2: You're happy here.
- 1:47:25Speaker 1: Stanford and Son, man. I'll never forget that club with Craig.
- 1:47:29Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:30Speaker 2: The Comedy Club of Kansas City. That's what it's called.
- 1:47:32Speaker 2: Comedy Club of Kansas City.
- 1:47:34Speaker 1: Man, that club he's talking about, Stanford and Son, was
- 1:47:38Speaker 1: a club, was a stand-up club, but after the club ended,
- 1:47:41Speaker 1: it turned into a fucking major club, a dance club.
- 1:47:44Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: For the most strictest, strictest dress code. No jerseys of
- 1:47:50Speaker 1: any kind. Football, soccer... Baseball, none. Also, no hats.
- 1:47:56Speaker 2: That makes sense.
- 1:47:57Speaker 1: So, dude, it was funny, man. You'll see, like, these
- 1:47:59Speaker 1: black dudes show up, and this guy's hip pop out.
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: He's wearing, like, a jersey. No jerseys. He'll take a
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: jersey off.
- 1:48:06Speaker 2: Wow.
- 1:48:06Speaker 1: Fold it up. No hats either. Takes the hat off.
- 1:48:11Speaker 3: Is there more to it?
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: No, that's it, bro. You only had two items.
- 1:48:14Speaker 3: I would add a third.
- 1:48:16Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:48:18Speaker 3: So I sensed that story wasn't going anywhere. So I.
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: What's up, fool?
- 1:48:24Speaker 2: What's up, fool?
- 1:48:26Speaker 3: The number two fan has something to say, I'm sure. Oh,
- 1:48:31Speaker 3: number three.
- 1:48:32Speaker 1: Actually, man.
- 1:48:32Speaker 3: Number three's enough.
- 1:48:35Speaker 1: The guy ended up fighting the manager.
- 1:48:37Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:48:38Speaker 1: But the guy ended up fighting the manager.
- 1:48:41Speaker 2: So they were right about the fucking no jersey, no
- 1:48:43Speaker 2: hat thing.
- 1:48:43Speaker 3: Oh, man.
- 1:48:46Speaker 1: The whole fight started when I was walking down the
- 1:48:48Speaker 1: stairs after my show. Okay. Okay.
- 1:48:50Speaker 3: I was in New Orleans. I walk into this. Everyone's like,
- 1:48:52Speaker 3: you got to go to this restaurant.
- 1:48:54Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:48:55Speaker 3: I'm there doing a corporate show.
- 1:48:56Speaker 1: You saw Cojo Rilo?
- 1:48:58Speaker 3: I'm doing a corporate show. I'm at the Four Seasons
- 1:49:00Speaker 3: or something.
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:49:01Speaker 3: I'm legit. I go into this restaurant.
- 1:49:03Speaker 1: How many seasons have you had on Teen Wolf?
- 1:49:05Speaker 3: Six seasons, 100 episodes. Boom. So I walk in. I'm
- 1:49:12Speaker 3: dressed like me. And the guy goes, you got to
- 1:49:14Speaker 3: have a jacket. I said, sorry, you can't come. You
- 1:49:17Speaker 3: have a jacket. I turn around. Another guy walks in.
- 1:49:21Speaker 3: The guy doesn't have a jacket. He opens the door,
- 1:49:24Speaker 3: pulls out a jacket, and gives the guy a jacket.
- 1:49:29Speaker 3: What the fuck?
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: That's just like my story, but you just give the
- 1:49:32Speaker 1: guy a jacket.
- 1:49:33Speaker 3: Why didn't he give me a jacket? You know what
- 1:49:35Speaker 3: I'm saying?
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: So you cut off a story that was to tell
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: the same story. But ended with a guy giving a jacket?
- 1:49:42Speaker 3: Yeah, but my story was about me.
- 1:49:44Speaker 1: Were you standing up there at the Laugh Factory with
- 1:49:46Speaker 1: those two other comics, too?
- 1:49:47Speaker 3: Oh, my God. It was really me. I didn't want
- 1:49:49Speaker 3: to tell you. It was me. I got her fired.
- 1:49:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 1:49:53Speaker 3: I don't know why.
- 1:49:54Speaker 1: Bro, tell the same story, bro, and end it differently, see.
- 1:49:56Speaker 3: No way.
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: You were at a club, bro, in New Mexico, and
- 1:50:00Speaker 1: somebody offered you a jacket.
- 1:50:01Speaker 2: I was at a club in Austin, and the guy- Oh,
- 1:50:06Speaker 2: you've done the Mothership? Have you done the Mothership?
- 1:50:09Speaker 3: No.
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: No.
- 1:50:10Speaker 3: I'm not in that group.
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: You're not part of the elephant in the closet podcast story?
- 1:50:15Speaker 3: No. Geez.
- 1:50:16Speaker 2: Elephant Graveyard?
- 1:50:17Speaker 1: Is that what it's called?
- 1:50:18Speaker 2: That's what the YouTube channel that shits on all those
- 1:50:22Speaker 2: fools is called. The Canadian guy. You played a Canadian guy.
- 1:50:27Speaker 2: Is it you, Orny Adams?
- 1:50:29Speaker 3: Could be me.
- 1:50:30Speaker 1: What are they saying, bro?
- 1:50:31Speaker 2: They just shit on them for, like, calling them... Like,
- 1:50:34Speaker 2: I think the last one is saying that Rogan is...
- 1:50:37Speaker 2: The government's in control of Rogan, and that's the majority
- 1:50:40Speaker 2: of that. And that he's a government tool.
- 1:50:43Speaker 1: Huh.
- 1:50:44Speaker 2: Like, that's... It's not... It went from funny to, like, this.
- 1:50:47Speaker 3: Guy's... I'd be a government tool for $ 100 million.
- 1:50:49Speaker 1: $ 200 million. Tool me around. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:50:54Speaker 2: Just fucking tell everybody how the fucking government to go?
- 1:50:56Speaker 3: All right.
- 1:50:57Speaker 1: So that means that when Dane Cook was at his
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: hottest ever, right... He was a government plant too.
- 1:51:04Speaker 2: That Semper Fi shit.
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: That Sufi shit, right?
- 1:51:07Speaker 2: That Sufi shit. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:51:08Speaker 3: You have beef with him too?
- 1:51:09Speaker 1: Nah, man. I love the guy. Sufi! All right. I
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: was there when he did seven hours on stage.
- 1:51:18Speaker 2: What?
- 1:51:19Speaker 3: There was a battle between him and Chappelle.
- 1:51:21Speaker 1: He did seven hours on stage. I was next.
- 1:51:23Speaker 2: That's Chappelle Lacey?
- 1:51:25Speaker 3: Chappelle Lacey.
- 1:51:26Speaker 1: Seven hours, bro.
- 1:51:29Speaker 2: I was there for the first two. What's the longest
- 1:51:31Speaker 2: you've done?
- 1:51:31Speaker 1: Me? Hour and a half. That's it. Okay.
- 1:51:34Speaker 2: You?
- 1:51:34Speaker 3: Yeah, same. You don't have to do. I've done closer
- 1:51:36Speaker 3: to two. I've done my special. I did two. But
- 1:51:39Speaker 3: that's inexcusable. It's not fair to the audience.
- 1:51:41Speaker 2: Yeah, they want to go home.
- 1:51:42Speaker 3: They got babysitters and shit. No, but they were trying
- 1:51:45Speaker 3: to break a Guinness Book of World Records. I think
- 1:51:47Speaker 3: what was going on there.
- 1:51:47Speaker 2: That's sniffing your own farts kind of, no?
- 1:51:50Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:51:50Speaker 1: That's a record?
- 1:51:51Speaker 2: I think they're great, but I wouldn't want to watch
- 1:51:53Speaker 2: seven hours of something. That's just me.
- 1:51:56Speaker 1: That's filibustering. Filibustering.
- 1:51:58Speaker 3: How do you know that word?
- 1:51:59Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, bro. Married to a white lady. Wow.
- 1:52:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:52:02Speaker 2: It's called marriage.
- 1:52:03Speaker 3: Nobody saw that coming.
- 1:52:05Speaker 1: History for Fools fans saw that coming because they know
- 1:52:07Speaker 1: everything I know from the History for Fools podcast every
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: Sunday at 10. We are learning, fool. What's your Instagram?
- 1:52:16Speaker 1: People can follow you.
- 1:52:18Speaker 2: It's my name, Orny Adams. I think we had it
- 1:52:21Speaker 2: up there. Unfollowed.
- 1:52:22Speaker 1: Did you get bullied a lot with that name, Orny Adams?
- 1:52:26Speaker 3: No.
- 1:52:26Speaker 1: Nah, come on, bro.
- 1:52:28Speaker 3: No. Most that got bullied is on this podcast.
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: Not because of the name. You never got bullied because
- 1:52:36Speaker 1: of that name growing up.
- 1:52:37Speaker 3: This guy's a little bit off.
- 1:52:39Speaker 2: No, well, he's not Mexican.
- 1:52:40Speaker 1: You never got bullied because of your name?
- 1:52:42Speaker 2: No.
- 1:52:43Speaker 1: Oh, my God. You grew up in a nice neighborhood
- 1:52:47Speaker 1: because Mexicans are so mean.
- 1:52:48Speaker 3: That's a good picture.
- 1:52:50Speaker 2: That's a great picture. You have reformed bully energy, Orny.
- 1:52:55Speaker 2: I don't feel like you bully. I feel like you're
- 1:52:57Speaker 2: the one who bullied.
- 1:52:57Speaker 1: Look at that.
- 1:52:58Speaker 3: There are my notes that you talk about. Why didn't
- 1:53:01Speaker 3: you wear those glasses the whole podcast?
- 1:53:02Speaker 1: Well, there was nothing to see. Let's put it back
- 1:53:05Speaker 1: to the other one.
- 1:53:06Speaker 3: What about me?
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: So the eyeballs, bro. You did a bump or what?
- 1:53:10Speaker 3: No, never done drugs.
- 1:53:11Speaker 1: He laid out those eyeballs.
- 1:53:13Speaker 3: Never done drugs.
- 1:53:14Speaker 2: You've never done drugs?
- 1:53:15Speaker 1: Coffee.
- 1:53:16Speaker 3: Coffee, pot I've smoked, but I have never done the
- 1:53:19Speaker 3: other stuff.
- 1:53:20Speaker 2: Really? Never even just around? You've never even just thought
- 1:53:23Speaker 2: about it?
- 1:53:24Speaker 1: Nope.
- 1:53:25Speaker 3: Nobody even offers it to me. I'll leave a party
- 1:53:27Speaker 3: and everyone's like, see all the coke in there?
- 1:53:28Speaker 1: I'm like, no. You want to talk to the fans?
- 1:53:33Speaker 3: I've been talking to them the whole show.
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: No, they want to talk to you. They could call us. Yeah, sure. Okay,
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: we'll do four calls. And then, what's up, fool? We
- 1:53:44Speaker 1: got Orny Adams.
- 1:53:46Speaker 2: Any callers coming in for Orny, yo?
- 1:53:48Speaker 3: We don't have a phone.
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: You know, my brother called here one time. Okay, never
- 1:53:55Speaker 1: mind it. We have no phones. Somebody could have faked it.
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: Robert De Niro, Goodfellow Classics have made an appearance. I
- 1:54:05Speaker 1: don't know what that means.
- 1:54:07Speaker 2: You did the Robert De Niro impression.
- 1:54:10Speaker 1: Right now? No, earlier.
- 1:54:11Speaker 2: Didn't you do Robert De Niro?
- 1:54:12Speaker 3: No, that was... It was Jay Moore.
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: That was horrible. Christopher Walken is a horrible... I'll put
- 1:54:19Speaker 1: you to impersonation.
- 1:54:20Speaker 2: I'm glad you said that, bro.
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: I couldn't say it. Why am I not impersonated, bro?
- 1:54:24Speaker 3: I got to tell you something. I've done hundreds of podcasts,
- 1:54:27Speaker 3: and your mic stands are the most ghetto thing I've
- 1:54:30Speaker 3: ever seen. I've never in my career ever seen a
- 1:54:33Speaker 3: scene like that.
- 1:54:33Speaker 2: What's for lifting, too, fool? What are you talking about?
- 1:54:35Speaker 2: You got to lift.
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: Sometimes we have guests.
- 1:54:37Speaker 3: He's got a cord.
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: Sometimes we have guests that are part of the door
- 1:54:42Speaker 1: guys at the mothership, and they like to lift the
- 1:54:44Speaker 1: microphone and lift weights.
- 1:54:47Speaker 3: I hear the club's great. I hear the club's great.
- 1:54:50Speaker 2: When you go to that Austin Market, what do you play?
- 1:54:53Speaker 3: I did the other, before the Mothership, there was another
- 1:54:57Speaker 3: club that was there that was owned by Colleen. And
- 1:55:01Speaker 3: I do the comedy festival.
- 1:55:03Speaker 1: Colleen.
- 1:55:04Speaker 3: Colleen.
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: That's Colleen from the owner of the San Antonio River
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: Center Comedy Club.
- 1:55:09Speaker 3: Can you look up the Austin Comedy Festival? What is
- 1:55:12Speaker 3: it called?
- 1:55:13Speaker 2: Is it the LOL? No.
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: No, it's the Austin Comedy Club.
- 1:55:16Speaker 3: Moon Tower.
- 1:55:16Speaker 1: Moon Tower. It's great.
- 1:55:18Speaker 2: Oh, I've done Moon Tower.
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: Capital City Comedy Club.
- 1:55:20Speaker 2: Cap City.
- 1:55:20Speaker 3: Cap City, is that it?
- 1:55:22Speaker 2: Cap City Comedy.
- 1:55:23Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:55:23Speaker 3: Austin's a great city. Yeah.
- 1:55:26Speaker 2: Would you think it's like enough to move though? Not
- 1:55:29Speaker 2: trying to start beef.
- 1:55:30Speaker 3: No, I don't think it's enough. No, I'm not. That's
- 1:55:32Speaker 3: not the place. I like to be in a big city.
- 1:55:34Speaker 2: Yeah, where there's everything.
- 1:55:36Speaker 3: There's everything. Multiple clubs, all that sort of stuff. No,
- 1:55:38Speaker 3: it wasn't for me. But, you know, people that left
- 1:55:41Speaker 3: LA were kind of on to something because, you know,
- 1:55:42Speaker 3: the city certainly has changed since COVID. So, you know,
- 1:55:46Speaker 3: it's different. I hope it comes back. Heard Paramount might
- 1:55:48Speaker 3: be leaving. You know, it's weird times.
- 1:55:52Speaker 2: Weird times. I feel like it's the resurgence of the
- 1:55:55Speaker 2: independent worker now. We can't no longer depend on these studios.
- 1:55:59Speaker 2: We have to be the ones who make it and
- 1:56:01Speaker 2: then sell it, right? That's what it is. It's kind
- 1:56:03Speaker 2: of a good and bad thing, but it's different.
- 1:56:07Speaker 3: Well, the fact that you can shoot a special in
- 1:56:09Speaker 3: a couple of weeks at a club, You can have
- 1:56:12Speaker 3: the equipment and then put it up, disseminate it or
- 1:56:16Speaker 3: distribute it on YouTube or whatever it is. That's pretty amazing.
- 1:56:19Speaker 3: That opportunity was in there. When I was coming up,
- 1:56:21Speaker 3: you had to be on The Tonight Show. You had
- 1:56:23Speaker 3: to be on Let It In.
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: Did you do any of those shows? HBO specials.
- 1:56:26Speaker 3: HBO specials?
- 1:56:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:56:28Speaker 3: Felipe, did you ever do The Late Night Circuit?
- 1:56:29Speaker 1: Never.
- 1:56:31Speaker 3: I did it. Did nothing for me.
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: I did The Tonight Show twice on sketches with my boy, Elon.
- 1:56:38Speaker 1: Elon who? Gold? Elon Gold, yeah.
- 1:56:40Speaker 3: Elon Musk?
- 1:56:41Speaker 1: Elon Gold.
- 1:56:42Speaker 3: Oh.
- 1:56:43Speaker 1: What's up, fool?
- 1:56:45Speaker 3: Anyway, let's take our second call. This is going great.
- 1:56:53Speaker 1: We'll get a call from Joe Diaz, bro. Cocksucker.
- 1:56:57Speaker 2: Yeah, you're right.
- 1:56:59Speaker 1: That's right, cocksucker. It's not about the hee-hees and the ha-ha's.
- 1:57:03Speaker 2: Yeah, you're not wrong. I did Colbert. It did nothing.
- 1:57:06Speaker 3: Yeah, congrats.
- 1:57:07Speaker 2: Yeah, but it was just a good thing to do.
- 1:57:09Speaker 2: It's a nice thing.
- 1:57:10Speaker 3: Yes, it's very nice.
- 1:57:12Speaker 1: I did Lopez tonight. That's my late night show. You
- 1:57:17Speaker 1: did one.
- 1:57:18Speaker 3: Yeah, I did one.
- 1:57:19Speaker 2: He had it for like two seasons.
- 1:57:20Speaker 3: Don't tell me he was a guest host that night.
- 1:57:23Speaker 3: Was it? No. That's an asterisk. People are like, did
- 1:57:26Speaker 3: the Tonight Show, but Margaret Cho was hosting.
- 1:57:30Speaker 2: You're like, oh, that doesn't count. You need him.
- 1:57:32Speaker 1: The Tonight Show, man, David Brenner was a host. I
- 1:57:37Speaker 1: got to meet David Brenner. You know that, right? He
- 1:57:40Speaker 1: picked me out of a bunch of comics to do
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: a show with him in Aspen. Oh.
- 1:57:45Speaker 3: That's where the Wheeler.
- 1:57:47Speaker 1: Yes, sir. That's it.
- 1:57:48Speaker 3: Yeah, I did that. I did that. The Wheeler Theater.
- 1:57:53Speaker 1: That's cool. Yeah. Did you have a good time in Aspen?
- 1:57:57Speaker 3: I did, except for the altitude.
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:57:59Speaker 3: Who needs that shit? I did New Mexico last year.
- 1:58:02Speaker 3: It was at 12,000 feet. I had to suck oxygen.
- 1:58:04Speaker 2: I didn't feel that. I've never been to Colorado or
- 1:58:08Speaker 2: Aspen to even question it.
- 1:58:11Speaker 3: It. Denver's 5,000.
- 1:58:13Speaker 2: It's not really that high. Aspen's super high. You guys
- 1:58:19Speaker 2: fucking went to Aspen and then you guys were walking
- 1:58:22Speaker 2: around like nothing was happening and then you got all
- 1:58:24Speaker 2: fucked up, right? Yeah.
- 1:58:26Speaker 1: Everything was expensive. There was no McDonald's. End up hanging
- 1:58:33Speaker 1: out outside the gas station eating a pickle, drinking a coffee.
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: What's up, Food Podcast, man? You have shows coming up?
- 1:58:43Speaker 2: Yeah, man. I'm for you. I'm featuring for you at
- 1:58:46Speaker 2: Kansas City. And then I'm doing El Paso, Texas the
- 1:58:49Speaker 2: following weekend, October 2nd and 3rd. I'm doing the drop-in
- 1:58:53Speaker 2: in El Paso, Texas. I'm headlining that. Orny, you just
- 1:58:56Speaker 2: got local stuff?
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess so.
- 1:58:58Speaker 3: Oh, this is a good one. Next week, next Thursday,
- 1:59:05Speaker 3: I'm so excited you asked me. I forgot to promote myself.
- 1:59:09Speaker 3: September 24th, I will be at the Comedy and Magic Club.
- 1:59:13Speaker 3: It's a Thursday. It's my show. Close to sold out.
- 1:59:18Speaker 3: Then October 10th, I'll be at the Ice House. Again,
- 1:59:21Speaker 3: my show.
- 1:59:22Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:59:22Speaker 3: And those tickets are starting to move too. So I
- 1:59:26Speaker 3: hope to see people there. Because those are actually good shows,
- 1:59:29Speaker 3: especially the Ice House.
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 1:59:31Speaker 3: It's fun. It's a small room, you know, in the
- 1:59:33Speaker 3: Comedy Magic. Do you ever go back to the Comedy Magic?
- 1:59:36Speaker 1: I haven't been in a while.
- 1:59:37Speaker 3: Yeah, you ever go back to thank them for everything
- 1:59:39Speaker 3: they did for you?
- 1:59:40Speaker 1: You know what I mean?
- 1:59:41Speaker 3: How they launched you?
- 1:59:44Speaker 2: I've never been, so I can't even think.
- 1:59:46Speaker 3: You've been to Comedy Magic?
- 1:59:49Speaker 1: No, I don't go there. It's so far away. I know.
- 1:59:52Speaker 2: It's like $ 75 in a steak dinner or something.
- 1:59:54Speaker 1: It's $ 100, right? I don't know.
- 1:59:57Speaker 2: I've never been booked.
- 1:59:58Speaker 3: You got to be clean, fool.
- 1:59:59Speaker 1: No, you don't. You just got to be there.
- 2:00:01Speaker 3: You got to be clean or you got to have
- 2:00:03Speaker 3: enough followers to not be clean.
- 2:00:04Speaker 1: There you go.
- 2:00:05Speaker 2: That's the one.
- 2:00:05Speaker 3: That's how it works.
- 2:00:06Speaker 1: No, the comedy club will put you up if you're fun.
- 2:00:09Speaker 1: They don't care about followers.
- 2:00:10Speaker 3: They're so nice to everybody down there.
- 2:00:12Speaker 1: They really... They'll go out of their way, bro. Like,
- 2:00:13Speaker 1: you want a mozzarella steak? They'll make them for you
- 2:00:16Speaker 1: even though they don't have them. They'll find cheese somewhere.
- 2:00:18Speaker 1: They'll make them for you. And they'll take a picture
- 2:00:24Speaker 1: of you. Okay. Also, July just passed. That's a birthday month.
- 2:00:29Speaker 1: Everybody goes up.
- 2:00:31Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:00:32Speaker 1: And they don't get paid because it's their birthday.
- 2:00:35Speaker 2: So that's what they do? They celebrate a July month
- 2:00:38Speaker 2: where everybody just goes up?
- 2:00:39Speaker 3: Yes. 20 comics to them, five minutes each.
- 2:00:42Speaker 1: They have two rooms. You know that? No. I thought
- 2:00:44Speaker 1: it was only one room. I went to one time.
- 2:00:46Speaker 1: They put me on both rooms. Okay.
- 2:00:47Speaker 2: I made $ 200.
- 2:00:49Speaker 1: Cocksucker. Richard Wright is the manager.
- 2:00:56Speaker 3: I've never been, fool.
- 2:00:57Speaker 2: I'm telling you, I've never been to the Comedy and
- 2:00:58Speaker 2: Magic Club. I mostly stay in Hollywood. I used to.
- 2:01:03Speaker 1: Be friends with the owner, the hippie.
- 2:01:06Speaker 3: Mike Lacey.
- 2:01:07Speaker 1: Mike Lacey and his wife. I think she's a doctor. Nurse. Nurse.
- 2:01:11Speaker 1: Head nurse.
- 2:01:14Speaker 2: I do secretly enjoy not knowing these references.
- 2:01:18Speaker 3: What's on your forehead? I just noticed that.
- 2:01:20Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 2:01:20Speaker 3: There's something on your forehead.
- 2:01:22Speaker 1: It's glitter. Glitter, probably.
- 2:01:23Speaker 3: I don't know from where.
- 2:01:24Speaker 1: From the curtain.
- 2:01:25Speaker 3: Was there a party I missed?
- 2:01:27Speaker 2: No, not at all.
- 2:01:28Speaker 3: Did you do the whole podcast with a piece of
- 2:01:29Speaker 3: glitter on your forehead?
- 2:01:31Speaker 2: I may have.
- 2:01:31Speaker 3: I thought it was like some sort of Hindu thing.
- 2:01:34Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, no. Definitely not a Hindu thing.
- 2:01:37Speaker 1: Well, this is great. Orny Adams, people, go check him out.
- 2:01:41Speaker 1: He's been on Comedian, Teen Wolf.
- 2:01:45Speaker 2: And he just got passed at the comedy store.
- 2:01:47Speaker 1: Just got passed at the comedy store.
- 2:01:49Speaker 2: He's doing a bunch of local shows. Let's see. Let
- 2:01:51Speaker 2: me hint to show up. Go see.
- 2:01:53Speaker 3: My website has it, orneadams.com.

- 2:01:58Speaker 1: Go check out my other podcast, people.
- 2:02:00Speaker 3: I have a podcast. What's your podcast? What's wrong with
- 2:02:05Speaker 3: Orne Adams? Look at that. They're announcing the special. Oh,
- 2:02:08Speaker 3: what's that?

- 2:02:34Speaker 2: So I was a good little princess. He earned a star.
- 2:02:37Speaker 2: What does that even mean? Ooh, I don't like that shit. Anyways,
- 2:02:42Speaker 2: comedy magic. You're at Jimmy Kimmel's, man, in Vegas.
- 2:02:46Speaker 3: I love Kimmel's.
- 2:02:47Speaker 2: There you go. You got stuff to promote, goddammit.
- 2:02:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm there.
- 2:02:50Speaker 3: Kimmel's.
- 2:02:52Speaker 1: In Las Vegas.
- 2:02:53Speaker 3: It's a good club. Sick.
- 2:02:57Speaker 1: I passed Brad Garrett's club. It's at the MGM. I
- 2:03:01Speaker 1: was at the nightclub, too.
- 2:03:02Speaker 2: It's a good club. You have to have a specific
- 2:03:04Speaker 2: amount of credits to even host. That's one of those
- 2:03:07Speaker 2: top of the line. It's not like the fucking L.A.
- 2:03:09Speaker 2: Comedy Club, whatever the fuck it's called. I've never really
- 2:03:12Speaker 2: done Vegas, but that L.A. Comedy Club, that's more attainable
- 2:03:15Speaker 2: for me.
- 2:03:17Speaker 1: What's up, Food Podcast? Thank you very much to Orny Adams, man.
- 2:03:23Speaker 1: And so we're through here, man. Wonderful guest, man. Hopefully
- 2:03:26Speaker 1: you'll come back anytime you want, man. Anytime you want
- 2:03:28Speaker 1: to promote something.
- 2:03:28Speaker 3: Yeah, thank you.
- 2:03:29Speaker 1: Stir up beef, bring up old beef. We'll take it here, bro.
- 2:03:33Speaker 1: We love it. Yeah. That's what we live for here.
- 2:03:36Speaker 3: You know what I love is I started shit without
- 2:03:38Speaker 3: even knowing it.
- 2:03:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I know.
- 2:03:39Speaker 2: You just came in a pretty innocent bystander, and I
- 2:03:41Speaker 2: was like, okay.
- 2:03:42Speaker 3: I didn't even know. Now, if I come back and
- 2:03:45Speaker 3: I do it again, then we know.
- 2:03:47Speaker 1: Then we know.
- 2:03:47Speaker 3: I did it on purpose.
- 2:03:48Speaker 2: You're going to do a different fucking beef. Just trying
- 2:03:49Speaker 2: to get under it. Yeah, just trying to get under it.
- 2:03:51Speaker 1: Then we got it, people, right? Yeah. Thank you very much.
- 2:03:54Speaker 1: Thank you. How long was the podcast?
- 2:03:56Speaker 2: Fucking hella long.
- 2:03:58Speaker 1: It's 5 o'clock. We did two hours. That's good. Let's
- 2:04:02Speaker 1: take a picture, Doc.
- 2:04:03Speaker 2: Let's go, man.
