- 0:00They're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:01Why not putting in one of the top three offensive players in
- 0:05the league? We're going to be looking at
- 0:14Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 0:17Jordan said. I played 82 games.

- 0:22Where you got to go? Before I told you, Giant fans
- 0:26and Saquon Barkley this, I'm gonna
- 1:38over. Moving on to the NBA All Star

- 3:03worldwidesportsradio.com. And I've said this many, many
- 3:07times. Super Bowl 60, all the Super
- 3:09Bowls, it's a holiday. Everybody is getting ready for
- 3:14an extravaganza as their family friends show up to parties, get
- 3:18drunk, eat a lot of food and are supposed to watch a great
- 3:24football game. Well, ladies and gentlemen, last
- 3:27night reminds me of a Super Bowl that entered my mind from I
- 3:32think it was 2018-2019 with the Patriots and the Rams.
- 3:38It wasn't as bad as the Patriots and Rams game, but it wasn't the
- 3:42best one. But we'll get into that in just
- 3:44a few moments. But I I go to parties and I
- 3:47enjoyed every single year. I want to give a shout out to
- 3:49Mike the Beef. Yep, Elliers and his family,
- 3:53they're great, great family. They have great, great parties.
- 3:56I went to Jimbo's house and and enjoyed the extravaganza there,
- 4:01got a chance to see a bunch of kids running around screaming,
- 4:05having a good time. And I like kids, I'm not going
- 4:08to lie. But when you're watching a
- 4:09football game, you're trying to concentrate to make sure they
- 4:11get all the content in your brain.
- 4:13Yet you don't like kids throwing things at you, throwing juice
- 4:16boxes at you and you trying to body slam and wrestling to the
- 4:19ground. But it was fun.
- 4:21I really appreciate the family for inviting us.
- 4:24I got to see Jamie Lee, Speedy. Jamie Lee was there.
- 4:27I don't know what you're doing over there in the corner.
- 4:29I. Am posting on Instagram.
- 4:30What else is new? I mean, you should be posting
- 4:32before the show, but. I can't do it without a live
- 4:34feed that doesn't exist yet. 5 minutes to post it, you did not.
- 4:38Anyways, I will say this, the family is great and and to get
- 4:43to hang out with people you don't see every single day, you
- 4:46don't see them throughout the season, throughout the year.
- 4:49It's fun to talk football with them.
- 4:51Got a chance to meet see his cousin Matt who loves football,
- 4:55loves baseball. Had a lot of conversations about
- 4:57the Yankees and the Yankees offseason.
- 4:59A lot of Yankee guys that were not happy with the Yankees
- 5:03acquisitions. Bellinger wasn't enough as the
- 5:06Yankee fans would say. But I think there's a lot of a
- 5:09lot of additions the Yankees added, not big names.
- 5:13And even bringing Garrett Cole back at some point this season
- 5:16is a big use component of the Yankees.
- 5:19The Yankees success if the Yankees plan to move on and
- 5:22possibly play for a World Series.
- 5:24But we got to get into Super Bowl 60.
- 5:27It's a it's a big story as a Seattle knocks out, yes I mean
- 5:32knocks out the Patriots at Super Bowl 60 On Sunday, the Seattle
- 5:38Seahawks defeated the New England Patriots 29 to 13 to win
- 5:42Super Bowl 60. The Seahawks defense completely
- 5:45shut down Drake May and the Patriots offense, not giving up
- 5:49any points until the fourth quarter bomb to Mack Hollins and
- 5:54a flick to running back from Andre Stevens Stevenson after
- 5:58the game was already in hand for Seattle.
- 6:04The Seahawks defense had six sacks, tied for second most in
- 6:10Super Bowl history, and also forced 3 turnovers, including a
- 6:14pick six in the fourth quarter when Devin Witherspoon hit May
- 6:19and defensive and Nawosu caught the ball and returned it for a
- 6:25touchdown, putting the game out of reach with under 5 minutes to
- 6:29go. Sam Donald managed the game well
- 6:32against a very tough Patriots defense, including a great
- 6:35performance by Christian Gonzalez who had three passes
- 6:39deflected and shut down everyone he faced including Jackson Smith
- 6:45Najiba, who also left the game early in the third quarter and
- 6:49missed most of the second-half with a possible concussion
- 6:52before returning late. Donald had 202 passing yards and
- 6:58a touchdown, but Super Bowl 60 MVP went to Kenneth Walker the
- 7:02third where he was the real driving force for the Seattle
- 7:08Seattle Seahawks offense with 135 rushing yards and 161 total
- 7:14yards. Walker is the first running back
- 7:17to be Super Bowl MVP since Terrell Davis.
- 7:21If you don't remember, I remember that year because that
- 7:23was the year that the Broncos knocked out or knocked off the
- 7:27New York Jets in the AFC title game when The Jets were up 17
- 7:30and nothing going into the second second-half.
- 7:31But I don't want to bring that up.
- 7:33In 1998, Mike McDonald becomes the second youngest head coach
- 7:37to ever win a Super Bowl at the age of 38, and only behind Sean
- 7:42McVeigh, who was 30. Six.
- 7:46Well, ladies and gentlemen, there was a lot that I, I, I, I
- 7:50kind of discovered in this particular football game.
- 7:53First of all, Drake May has not played well all playoff long and
- 8:01going into the playoffs, I said it.
- 8:03Everybody out listens to the show, knows that I went into the
- 8:06insurance and the outs of the Patriots season, how easy their
- 8:09schedule was to get into the playoffs.
- 8:11They did not win the conference that went to the Broncos.
- 8:15So the Patriots going into the playoffs, they were 14 and
- 8:19three. They were one of the hotter
- 8:20teams in the NFL and Drake May was up for an MVP.
- 8:23He was this as everybody thought he was the second best
- 8:26quarterback coming out of the season.
- 8:29But Drake May's schedule was very, very easy.
- 8:32As it was said, the last easy schedule like this was about 7
- 8:36years ago was 2019 and I think it was the Indianapolis Colts.
- 8:40There were like 3 teams tied for it.
- 8:42It was the Jaguars and the Bills too, I believe.
- 8:44It was as easy of a schedule as you possibly possibly can have.
- 8:49Now it is a first year coach over there with the Patriots
- 8:52now, not first year in the NFL as a head coach because he was
- 8:55the head coach for the Tennessee Titans.
- 8:56A successful 1. He won coach of the year over
- 8:59there with Tennessee and obviously he won coach of the
- 9:01year this year. I have my own take on that a
- 9:03little bit later in the show, but I said going into the game,
- 9:08the guy that I would be betting on is Mike McDonald.
- 9:13If you look at the success of Mike McDonald as as a defensive
- 9:17coordinator, go look at the Baltimore Ravens, go go look at
- 9:20where they were ranked defensively when he was the head
- 9:23coach over there. I mean when we he was the
- 9:24defensive coordinator over there under John Harbaugh.
- 9:27John Harbaugh has not had a defense that good since Mike did
- 9:31met. Mike McDonald has left and taken
- 9:33to Seattle Seahawks job. When you look at what Mike
- 9:38McDonald has done in such a short time as a young coach and
- 9:42as a team leader, taking on the responsibility to come over here
- 9:48at with the Seattle Seahawks and take over for an all time great.
- 9:51Pete Carroll, who's won two national championships and did
- 9:54win a Super Bowl, should have won two Super Bowls.
- 9:56If he didn't have that bad call in the Super Bowl where there
- 10:00was an interception on the goal line, well on the five or three
- 10:04yard line where he should have just handed the ball off to
- 10:06Marshawn Lynch. Everybody knows that story.
- 10:08This should have been the third Super Bowl the Seattle Seahawks
- 10:11have won in almost 20 years, but it's their second.
- 10:17And it's such a quick fashion with a new quarterback in his
- 10:21first year, Sam Darnold, with the Seattle Seahawks.
- 10:25This is a guy that had a lot to prove.
- 10:29And I'm talking about Mike McDonald because Mike McDonald
- 10:32has always been in the shadow of all the great defensive minds
- 10:37that the Baltimore Ravens have had.
- 10:39If you look at the success the Baltimore Ravens in the in the
- 10:42past has had and defensive coordinator, if the defensive
- 10:45coordinator that it became head coaches, including Rex Ryan with
- 10:49the New York Jets, he's always going to be looked at as, Oh
- 10:52well, anybody could have. Anybody could have played called
- 10:55the defense over there with the Baltimore Ravens with the talent
- 10:57they've had year in and year out.
- 11:01But ever since he left and he took over with the Seattle
- 11:04Seahawks, the Seattle Seahawks that were falling apart.
- 11:07Their offensive line had so many woes when Pete Carroll was there
- 11:11quarterback position, even though Russell Wilson was
- 11:13competent and was an elite quarterback at some points of
- 11:16his career, had problems with the locker room, didn't get
- 11:19along with teammates as we've heard in the past.
- 11:22How many times have we heard Richard Sherman go out there and
- 11:25say that Russell Wilson is not a likable person.
- 11:27Marshawn Lynch came out and said that a ton of teammates over the
- 11:31have said that Russell Wilson wasn't a likable person in the
- 11:34locker room and always thought he was bigger and better than
- 11:37practically every single player on that team.
- 11:40This team was brought together through the draft and through a
- 11:45lot of players in in in their pasts with different teams that
- 11:50weren't successful. I look at so many guys that have
- 11:56jumped ship from the Cowboys, from the Giants, from The Jets,
- 12:01multiple teams from the Patriots and and went to the Seattle
- 12:05Seahawks. Even some draft stock and draft
- 12:08picks like Cross and Walker and Nejigba.
- 12:15It took time for these guys to develop Nejigba.
- 12:18He's been there a couple of years.
- 12:20He wasn't the number one guy. He was actually behind Locket
- 12:24and the big mouth who's now playing in Pittsburgh.
- 12:29It's been a big problem because Nijiba was always a superstar
- 12:32coming out of Ohio State. He was a high draft pick.
- 12:37He kind of fell in the draft because a lot of people thought
- 12:39he was too small and his ability to run routes might not work in
- 12:45the NFL. And a lot of people were wrong
- 12:50and you needed the right guy to take over for this team.
- 12:53And when Pete Carroll obviously got let go, they needed to bring
- 12:56in a young, energetic personality that has that
- 13:01ability to control the locker room.
- 13:05And that's what Mike McDonald did this year.
- 13:07You can see the players followed him in every kind of way.
- 13:11Even at the end of the game when they won the Super Bowl and
- 13:14dropping that Gatorade, they made sure they were mixing the
- 13:16Gatorade. How many players, how many teams
- 13:19have we seen in the past actually mix the Gatorade before
- 13:23they pour it on the coach? Seattle Seahawks, I've never
- 13:27seen that before. They usually just two team mates
- 13:29pick it up and splash the court. The coach?
- 13:32No, they were mixing it for 5 minutes.
- 13:37They're a unique team and a very young team and have a chance to
- 13:41be a dynasty, especially in an NFC that's wide open and to
- 13:47watch in the first Super Bowl for a lot of these guys deliver
- 13:55the game of their lives. And I mean, they absolutely
- 13:58delivered. And Myers, we could get into
- 14:00what Myers did in the game, kicking 5 field goals and
- 14:03breaking an NFL record. He was sensational.
- 14:05Pisses me off. Another Jet that The Jets
- 14:08decided to let go and let just obviously sign with Seattle.
- 14:13The Jets have been looking after looking for a kicker for years.
- 14:17Myers was the guy. They let him go to Seattle and
- 14:21then they they go after Greg the legs and now the folk hero.
- 14:25Every single year they're finding or trying to find a new
- 14:28kicker when they had one. And Myers, who's been with
- 14:30Seattle since he's left The Jets, and he played a big part
- 14:35because we knew this was going to be a defensive game.
- 14:38You have Sam Donald that's never been in a Super Bowl except as a
- 14:41backup at the 49ers years ago. And you have a young quarterback
- 14:47in Drake May who's 2223 years old, a little wet behind the
- 14:50ears, no experience playing in a championship game ever in his
- 14:53career. You have two coaches that never
- 14:58coached here before. So going to the game, we knew it
- 15:02was going to be defense against defense.
- 15:04But overall, we knew that the Seattle Seahawks had the most
- 15:08talent out of the two and you could see it early in the game.
- 15:14You saw it early in the game, The playmakers, Nijigba digs,
- 15:21they couldn't do anything early in the game.
- 15:22And I told everybody what was going to happen.
- 15:26Whoever finds the holes, the running game, that finds a way
- 15:31to take over is going to win the game.
- 15:35And we knew early that they were going to hand the ball heavily
- 15:39to Walker. And Kenneth Walker did not
- 15:41disappoint. He was 100% healthy throughout
- 15:44the playoffs. He was so elusive and so
- 15:46explosive all throughout the playoffs, including the week
- 15:50before, well, two weeks before against the Rams.
- 15:55When you have a running back that good and a lot of people
- 15:57question Walker when he was drafted in a second round, Some
- 16:00people thought he was drafted a little too high.
- 16:02We've seen this before with Seattle.
- 16:04How many running backs have they drafted in the past that have
- 16:06failed? Remember, Penny never really
- 16:09never developed into the player they thought he was going to be.
- 16:14And then they they drafted Chabernay about a year and a
- 16:18half ago and, and they've had a good 1-2 punch and Walker and
- 16:21losing Chabernay. There was a lot of questions if
- 16:24they can get more elusive with Walker and more explosive with
- 16:29Walker and use him as a every, every back type of running back.
- 16:33And and to me, what Walker did since Charbonnay has gone down
- 16:38was amazing. He was the the number one
- 16:41offensive option throughout the playoffs.
- 16:44Yes, Najiba is a great weapon to have, but teams know the balls
- 16:48going to him. They, they, they find a way to
- 16:51double team and put somebody under him.
- 16:52Safety's under him. And you saw that in this game,
- 16:55Nick Jigg, but did not have an explosive game like a lot of
- 16:58people thought he was going to have.
- 16:59And that has a lot to do with Christian Gonzalez.
- 17:01We all know how good Christian Gonzalez has been all season
- 17:04long. This guy's an all pro player.
- 17:06I think in the next couple of years we're going to say that
- 17:08Christian Gonzalez is one of the top three corners in the NFL if
- 17:12he can stay 100% healthy throughout the season.
- 17:17But that was the problem it early in the game, in the first
- 17:21couple of plays, you saw the Patriots actually could run the
- 17:25ball. Romanje Stevens was running the
- 17:27ball. They gave the ball a couple of
- 17:28times to Henderson, but not enough to Anderson.
- 17:30And I think that was the problem throughout the game.
- 17:33They had a guy like Henderson that could catch the ball in the
- 17:35backfield. He was a weapon.
- 17:37They knew they didn't have a lot of weapons, especially at wide
- 17:40receiver. They had to use those type of.
- 17:43And by the way, Booty, who Jabba absolutely loves, did absolutely
- 17:47nothing in the game, Absolutely nothing.
- 17:50And that that's because of the the talent and the secondary.
- 17:54And I think that this secondary of the Seattle Seahawks was even
- 17:58better overall than the Legion of Boom, the young talent that
- 18:05they have. And when the Legion boom, Legion
- 18:07of Boom was at it's top, top rated, top team, top defense in
- 18:12the NFL. These guys were young.
- 18:14Camp Chancellor was young. Thomas was young.
- 18:17Richard Sherman was young. Who's the other player?
- 18:19Brandon Browner. Brandon Browner.
- 18:20And there was another one. Jeremy Lane was Jeremy Lane.
- 18:24I left five of them. Camp Chancellor was probably the
- 18:27oldest one in. The secretary didn't play long
- 18:29after they won the Super Bowl. But what I'm saying is is this
- 18:34is young, Woolen is young, E man is young.
- 18:40They have the ability to be this good for the next couple of
- 18:45years and they're under contract.
- 18:48Who's going to argue that Seattle's not going to be the
- 18:50favorite to come out of the NFC again next year?
- 18:53They're going to run it back again.
- 18:55All these players are practically under contract and
- 18:58they got draft stock and they've got money to spend in the off
- 19:01season. And Mike Frabel had no answers
- 19:06to Walker, had no answers to the offensive line that played
- 19:09sensational all game long. They practically protected Sam
- 19:13Donald. How many times did he get sacked
- 19:17to what Drake May was getting? Drake May was getting hit by
- 19:20every clip. Hall was hitting him, they were
- 19:23getting they were hitting him in all different directions,
- 19:26bringing up the safeties, bringing up the corners.
- 19:30It was a great, great play calling game by Mike McDonald
- 19:34and his coaching staff. Sam Donald didn't have to be
- 19:37great. He really didn't because what
- 19:42they were doing on the running game, in the running game and
- 19:44how Kenneth Walker was running the ball and using every single
- 19:50part of that offensive line to his disposal.
- 19:54There was no way. The New England Patriots, who's
- 19:57one of the best run stopping teams in all of the NFL, as we
- 20:00heard Foyer Luiken saying last week, well, they're the second
- 20:03best, but nevertheless top three.
- 20:06They could not stop Kenneth Walker.
- 20:09They could not stop him from quarter to quarter.
- 20:12Kenneth Walker. Kenneth Walker got more
- 20:14confident and started just finding the scene everywhere on
- 20:19the football field. And no matter what was going on
- 20:23defensively, with a guy like Gonzalez, who was stopping, he
- 20:26was shutting people down. Nick Jigbaugh.
- 20:28How many times did he bat the ball away from Jackson Smith?
- 20:31Najigbaugh, who's one of the hardest players to play
- 20:35one-on-one with? Well, Christian, Christian
- 20:38Gonzalez was doing that all single game and that's why they
- 20:42were trying to shit. If you did not, if nobody
- 20:44watched the game, Nijiba was moving all over.
- 20:47They moved him in a slot. They move them on the outside,
- 20:49they move them on the inside. They tried to do so many things
- 20:51with Nijiba and Gonzalez didn't have to move to the other field,
- 20:55but every single time the ball was going to Nijiba, Gonzalez
- 20:58was, Gonzalez was in that realm. He was waiting for the ball to
- 21:03go to Nijiba and again, it was it was cat and mouse throughout
- 21:10the game. In the second-half, you thought
- 21:11that Mike Frabel was going to come out with a better game
- 21:13plan, figure out ways to protect Drake May, maybe use Drake May
- 21:18in some running patterns and, and, and what what more running
- 21:21plays like they did against the Broncos in the snow And that
- 21:27just didn't happen. And I'll tell you this, Seattle
- 21:30had such a great game plan. What they did was most of the
- 21:33time, except probably later in the third quarter, in the fourth
- 21:37quarter, they kept Drake May in the pocket.
- 21:40They believe that if he could keep in the pocket, Drake May
- 21:42was not going to beat them on the outside.
- 21:45They were He was not going to over over overpower their
- 21:48secondary or their linebackers. And like I said, Hunter Henry
- 21:53had to play dividends to this team, especially the problem
- 21:56with Seattle AD all season long and stopping tight ends.
- 22:00Hunter Henry barely got used until the fourth quarter when
- 22:04they get it was over. So you you look at the insurance
- 22:09and the outs of this game and I'll go back to Drake May.
- 22:12I'm not taking shots at the kid. I was talking to the bee's
- 22:15father and I said everybody keeps talking about Drake May
- 22:17how great he was all season long.
- 22:19Who did he beat? And then you see him in the
- 22:22playoffs. He he probably had the worst
- 22:25playoff front to the Super Bowl we've ever seen.
- 22:27A quarterback half, an MVP candidate half.
- 22:30Did you ever see Patrick Mahomes at at any point of his career as
- 22:35an MVP candidate slowly but surely back into the Super Bowl?
- 22:40We never saw that Jalen Hurts do that.
- 22:42Never. Joe Burrow, Never.
- 22:46Matthew Stafford never, and I'm going to say this.
- 22:51He's still young and the Patriots are young team, no
- 22:54question that they are. But the Patriots got to go into
- 22:57the offseason wondering where do they go at wide receiver?
- 23:00They they're not very good at drafting them as we all know in
- 23:03the past. And if they think that Booty is
- 23:07the guy, he's their go to guy next year.
- 23:09That's that's ridiculous too. They had Jacoby Myers.
- 23:15They could have signed him. Myers was better than Diggs,
- 23:19He's better than any one of the guys that they had on that
- 23:22roster. And again, that's not my
- 23:26argument that the Patriots couldn't do anything.
- 23:28But they were out coached. And by the way, I got a bone to
- 23:35pick with the NFL committee on why they decided to go with Mike
- 23:39Frabel, Mike McDonald as the coach and coach of the year.
- 23:43When what we saw at Super, I said speedy and we were talking
- 23:47off air. I said we're going to see who
- 23:49really was the coach and assistant coach of the year.
- 23:53Because what we saw on the Seattle Seahawks sidelines was
- 23:56complete dominance. Complete dominance throughout
- 24:00the game, the play calling, even a defensive side of the ball,
- 24:05the the way they were disguising their safeties and their blitz
- 24:08packages was sensational. It really was and even at the
- 24:14end of the game, Mike McDonald was not giving them any
- 24:17freebies. He made sure that they weren't
- 24:20going to get a freebie in the end zone.
- 24:23That says a lot about him as a coach.
- 24:26Even that when they went for the two point conversion, when when
- 24:29they scored their first touchdown and Mike Frable put
- 24:32his hands up to two points, I said good luck.
- 24:37I think what Mike McDonald has brought to the table for the
- 24:40Seattle Seahawks and I want to give a shout out to Schneider,
- 24:43who's been as good of AGM as anybody we've seen in the last
- 24:47past 20 years the success and in the transition from quarterback.
- 24:53Remember, he drafted Russell Wilson and over the years
- 24:58they've tried to make moves and and draft quarterbacks in the
- 25:01later rounds and he's failed to find them.
- 25:03Quarterbacks are not easy to find in the draft, but he's the
- 25:08one who took a flyer on Sam Donald.
- 25:10Say whatever you want, he took a flyer on him.
- 25:12He gave him the three-year, $100 million contract.
- 25:15Minnesota didn't. And I'm sure Minnesota is
- 25:18punching and back handing themselves in the face after
- 25:21watching what Sam Donald did throughout the playoffs.
- 25:26So it it to me, you look at the coaching staff, you look at
- 25:33ownership, trusting and Schneider to rebuilding his team
- 25:38and how this team came together throughout the season in the
- 25:42hardest division in football. When you have to play San
- 25:46Francisco twice, the Rams twice, Arizona was not easy this year.
- 25:51They had a very good defense. When you got to go through those
- 25:55type of teams all season long, when the coaches know each other
- 26:01just as well as anybody and to play as well as they did through
- 26:07the opposing talent that they had to play through in the NFC,
- 26:12Think about it. They were 14 and three.
- 26:14They didn't lose. They lost three games the whole
- 26:16season, the whole season. And those three games were
- 26:20winnable games. They never got beaten down once
- 26:24this year. Never.
- 26:27Even when Sam Donald threw that three interceptions against the
- 26:30Rams, that game was close. That's coaching guys.
- 26:38When you talk about a young coach who's 37 years old, still
- 26:42wet behind the ears, hasn't even hit his full stride, everybody
- 26:45keeps talking about how how great John Harbaugh was.
- 26:48How long did it take John Harbaugh to win his first Super
- 26:51Bowl? Think about that.
- 26:54And it wasn't even his team. This is Mike McDonald's team.
- 26:59He helped put this team. He designed this team together.
- 27:06That's what's making this story even more impressive.
- 27:13And only time will see or tell where the Seattle Seahawks are
- 27:18going to be compared to as the great teams of this era.
- 27:22But I'm going to tell you right now with Devin Witherspoon and
- 27:27Woolen E man, all that all everybody, every single hall,
- 27:32all these young Nuosu Cross, everyone.
- 27:37There's so many young players on his team.
- 27:39Walker is still I know he's he's a running back and you know,
- 27:42they don't last that long in the NFL.
- 27:44What's he 2728 years old? Yeah, he's on.
- 27:46Yeah, they're going to have to sign him this year because he's
- 27:48at the end of his. Rookie.
- 27:49They'll sign him. They have to now because Sharp
- 27:50and he's hurt. He's 27 years old.
- 27:53He's in the prime of his career. I think that Seattle has a
- 27:58chance not only to repeat. They could be a dynasty in the
- 28:03NFL, especially how bad the AFC is.
- 28:06The AF CS really, really bad. I know going into the offseason,
- 28:11you expect Patrick Mahomes to come back with a full recovery.
- 28:14You expect the charges to be better.
- 28:15Or do we? I mean, Baltimore has a new
- 28:18coach. The Bengals are really on the
- 28:20hot seat with Joe Burrow. Pittsburgh has a new coach.
- 28:24Buffalo has a new coach, Miami has a new coach, The Jets have a
- 28:28second year coach, the Patriots have a second year coach.
- 28:32I mean, the AFC is withdrawn. Who do you have to worry about?
- 28:38Sean Payton? And then Sean Payton is going to
- 28:40trust and, and their backup quarterback once again this
- 28:43year. If Bo Nicks goes goes down
- 28:45again, they're going to go down just as quick.
- 28:47And, and I will tell you this right now, the Broncos did not
- 28:49look good. Even though they were 14 and
- 28:51three, they were best team in the AFC.
- 28:53They were up and down all season long.
- 28:55They should have lost seven or eight games.
- 28:57They got lucky every single game Seattle won this year when when
- 29:04they were winning, they were dominating those games.
- 29:06They weren't even close. And that's what the Super Bowl
- 29:11was. It wasn't even close.
- 29:14Yeah, there's a lot of things that you could get.
- 29:15You look at the game planning for that definitely show that
- 29:18McDonald was the better coach in this game by a long shot.
- 29:20You talk about the comparison of the defenses, this Legion of
- 29:23Boom versus this defense is very different now.
- 29:25They both played a lot of zone. They played a lot of, like Jeff
- 29:28was saying last week, a lot of Cover 6, a lot of Cover 4
- 29:30concepts. But they had not defenders that
- 29:33are in one spot, like they weren't playing.
- 29:35Earl Thomas generally stayed in the same spot.
- 29:37Richard Sherman generally stayed in the same spot in that Legion
- 29:39of Boom. Devin Witherspoon does not stay
- 29:41in the same spot. He was blitzing in all three of
- 29:44his sacks in three different spots, covering guys in three
- 29:47different spots all across the field.
- 29:49M and Wari play can play a box safety.
- 29:52He can play back in coverage. And if they played him in the
- 29:54box, they rotate a linebacker to go back in Ernest Jones or one
- 29:58of their other rotational guys to play a deep zone where it
- 30:01confused Drake May and confused Josh McDaniels all game long.
- 30:05And same kind of thing with the pass rushers, too.
- 30:08You talk about Nosu, Derek Hall was 1/3 rotation guy, but they
- 30:11put him in all different spots in the line.
- 30:13They put Leonard Williams outside sometimes and they still
- 30:16got really good interior pressure way.
- 30:18This is a much more creative defense overall than what Pete
- 30:22Carroll had with the Legion of Boom.
- 30:23Just on the scheme concepts and you talk about it.
- 30:25They have a lot of guys that are free agents too coming over from
- 30:27all their teams. Like the defense was a lot of
- 30:31like missing pieces from obviously the Giants and The
- 30:33Jets, the Ernest Jones came from the Rams and also from the
- 30:36Chargers. Teams like that, where is the
- 30:37offense is kind of the opposite where you have a lot of outside
- 30:40of Darnell, you have a lot of the homegrown guys on the
- 30:42offensive side. And it's really impressive the
- 30:44type of team that Seattle was able to put together because
- 30:46usually those types of teams that are built in free agency,
- 30:48that's why I wasn't as high on them this year.
- 30:50At the beginning of the year. They usually take two or three
- 30:52years to get going. They were talented.
- 30:53They were high. DVO 18.
- 30:55There's a reason a lot of people thought him as a playoff team.
- 30:57But they all did work right away is extremely impressive.
- 31:00And then on the Patriots side, yeah, Mike Vrabel did not look
- 31:02like a Coach of the Year finalists in that game.
- 31:05Well, think about this Speedy before the season started, I
- 31:08think there were there were plus 3000 for both these teams all
- 31:13together was like almost like 6000 or 7000 that both these
- 31:16teams were going to the Super Bowl.
- 31:17Yeah, the Patriots were going to be the biggest long shot since
- 31:20the Rams in 99. And then the Seahawks, yeah,
- 31:23we're not far behind that either.
- 31:25It was definitely a big combined.
- 31:26I mean, if you bet on them early in the season, you probably won
- 31:29yourself a lot of money. And and the fact here is it,
- 31:32it's very, very impressive for both coaches to make that run,
- 31:35especially in the AFC. Again, if Buffalo was in the
- 31:39Super Bowl, I think Josh Allen would have given given that that
- 31:43game a little bit more of a better matchup.
- 31:45Because I think Josh Allen, if his back was against the wall,
- 31:48he was going to air the ball out.
- 31:49He would have used his legs. Drake May got scared early in
- 31:52the game and he should be because the offensive line, a
- 31:54young offensive line was getting dominated.
- 31:57They were getting dominated the whole game and, and even when
- 32:01they were trying to keep the the line close and, and even when
- 32:04they were trying to shift and, and try to throw the ball, they
- 32:07couldn't pass block. They were using so many
- 32:10different schemes and blitz packages.
- 32:12How many times did we see Witherspoon get in on a blitz
- 32:15pack? He was until Walker went off in
- 32:17the second-half. He was on track for MVP.
- 32:19He was all over the place. It was unbelievable.
- 32:21And and they were attacking Julian Love the whole game, the
- 32:24whole game. And that cost him.
- 32:27That cost him in the fourth quarter when they were trying to
- 32:30he was trying to force the ball up the middle and he and Julian
- 32:33Love intercepted the ball. But they kept all game long
- 32:37attacking him because he was the weakest at that corner position.
- 32:41And they were moving him in the slot many, many times in the
- 32:43whole game. Early in the game they were
- 32:45attacking. It was a working and then all of
- 32:47a sudden I think Julian Love in the second-half kind of got got
- 32:51comfortable and eventually position himself right and he
- 32:55made some big plays, a lot of big plays.
- 32:57Yeah, a lot of zone coverage. I think he was better and they
- 32:59were trying to get. Him in by the way, that was the
- 33:01next time. Yes, I know, as is Leonard
- 33:03Williams and Julian Love was missing some tackles in space.
- 33:06The Patriots did a good job putting either Stevenson or
- 33:08Henderson catching the ball in space and they were exposing
- 33:11him. But then Mike McDonald adjusted
- 33:12and they put him either as serving as like a middle
- 33:14linebacker, A lurking safety or a deep zone.
- 33:17And he played a lot better. Obviously got an interception in
- 33:18that game. I want to go back to what you
- 33:20were saying though with with the Patriots in their offensive
- 33:21line. They were struggling all
- 33:22postseason long. It was a big reason why their
- 33:24offense was really not the same great.
- 33:25Did they face some really good pass rushes with the Texans and
- 33:27the Broncos, But still the Patriots offensive line got
- 33:30badly outmatched. And this is the biggest thing I
- 33:31will criticize Drake May for is I don't think you saw
- 33:33adjustments to his blitz reads either.
- 33:36It looked a lot like Daniel Jones in the beginning.
- 33:38He had problems against the Broncos and again it was snowing
- 33:42and it was a different kind of weather.
- 33:44It was very windy. It was beautiful out in San
- 33:47Francisco. I think the weather was like 60
- 33:49something degrees, so it was great weather to play football,
- 33:51but that's not an excuse. Again, I'm going to go back and
- 33:54forth with what we saw Drake May in early or early in the season
- 33:59to later in the season. As the season progressed and
- 34:02this team, the Patriots, started playing better talent and more
- 34:07exclusive top end teams. Drake May was not as good as he
- 34:11was against those weak teams like the Browns, like the
- 34:14Bengals, like The Jets. Even early in the season against
- 34:17the Jaguars, they, he did not look good even in game #1 when
- 34:21they played the Raiders, remember, they played the
- 34:23Raiders in the first game of the season.
- 34:25They lost that game in Las Vegas.
- 34:27And people were questioning the Patriots and how bad they look
- 34:30throughout the, you know, throughout that first game of
- 34:33the season. But things started to slow down
- 34:36for Drake May and he looked more confident as a quarterback and
- 34:39was up for an MVP. But I'm going to tell you this
- 34:41right now. If you look at his schedule next
- 34:43year against all the number ones and they were, they were posted
- 34:46up. Do you think there were a lot of
- 34:47people saying, do you think the Patriots are a playoff team or a
- 34:50contending team next year? My answer would be no.
- 34:53If Drake made plays against contending talent like he did
- 34:58this year, there's no way this team goes to the playoffs.
- 35:01No way. Yeah.
- 35:02And yeah, I don't have his numbers.
- 35:04And I'm going to find I'm going to look up his numbers against
- 35:06the the elite of elite teams, teams that were playoff or
- 35:10borderline playoff teams. I bet you they weren't good.
- 35:12Yeah, his pre snap reads. I don't think we're very good
- 35:14with even judging for the blitz. You can only do so much against
- 35:17Seattle's pass rush as it was their offensive was playing
- 35:19banged up. They got out of match.
- 35:20You especially saw on the interior rush too.
- 35:23Seattle had a lot of trouble. But I think the difference was
- 35:25Drake May did not read those blitz pickups very well, whereas
- 35:28Sam Darnold, Sam Darnold got a lot of pressure on the inside.
- 35:31They were saying like Milton Williams probably should have
- 35:32had four sacks in that game. He was getting a lot of pressure
- 35:34on the interior. He had two sacks last year with
- 35:36the Eagles when they won the Super Bowl and played very well
- 35:39in that game too. But Sam Darnold's quick
- 35:40adjustment game was a lot better on those interior rushes than
- 35:43Drake Mays was. And I don't think like you were
- 35:45saying before, I don't think Mike Vraybel compensated for the
- 35:47biggest things they had to do. And Josh McDaniels designed runs
- 35:50for Drake May. For one thing, he had 37 yards
- 35:52rushing. Like, maybe design more runs for
- 35:54him, and maybe that gets more pressure and makes Seattle
- 35:57overthink their defensive game plan.
- 35:58And then there might be holes for them.
- 36:00And then use the tight end. They didn't do that enough,
- 36:02either. And Stevenson had barely any
- 36:04volume in the second-half. Like, it's one thing that, yeah,
- 36:07he's going to have a tough time running against the top, top
- 36:09five rush defense. He had trouble statistically
- 36:12last week against the Broncos, too, but did still do very well
- 36:14with the second efforts. Like, where is that in their
- 36:16game? They just went away from it.
- 36:18And I just think, yeah, Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels
- 36:20definitely will be scratching their heads a lot with that
- 36:21offensive game plan. So.
- 36:23I was going to go but we got joined by Jabba.
- 36:25What's up, man? What's going on?
- 36:27No, it's been a whirlwind, man. It's getting things done.
- 36:31Obviously. We had opening weekend with
- 36:33Carter. Now my my Huskers, they had
- 36:36their last scrimmage today and I was talking to pitching coach
- 36:38and he's like, come on, get down here.
- 36:40And I'm like, all right, well, when it calls, it calls.
- 36:43So get them off to Arizona. Actually, their first game is on
- 36:48MLB Network, so that'll be cool for the boys.
- 36:52But yeah, you were talking about Drake May though, like he had 37
- 36:56yards. But legitimately it came like
- 36:58most of it came on that one when he actually read and used his
- 37:02legs. And it just and I was driving
- 37:06for 3/4. So I was listening more so than
- 37:09I was watching. And so it's it's interesting
- 37:14hearing it instead of seeing it. And that's kind of a different
- 37:22anomaly for me because it took me back old school and like I
- 37:24was with my dad in the car and we were listening to like
- 37:27baseball games. And it makes you like love the
- 37:30game in the, the atmosphere that they create when people are
- 37:35listening to a game. But honestly, like it was tough
- 37:39to listen to because there was no excitement.
- 37:41Like there was nothing to it where because I hate to admit
- 37:46this, but I did have it on the iPad and it was on, but I had
- 37:50SiriusXM on the radio. That's what radio is for is like
- 37:53excitement and whatever. And like I said, I didn't get to
- 37:56watch it for 3/4 and then I got to watch the last last quarter.
- 38:01Jabba, you didn't miss anything. A kind of book from.
- 38:05But yeah, from the sounds of it, it doesn't sound like I did.
- 38:10But it was just like looking at the stats and stuff this morning
- 38:14and reading over all the notes that the NFL sent over and and
- 38:18it just, it was, it seemed like it was very mundane and just
- 38:22kind of just like as the commercial that showed up me.
- 38:27I will, I will say this and and I watched the commercials.
- 38:30The commercials were pathetic and I I heard that the
- 38:32commercials were even more than they have been over the last
- 38:36couple of years. I think a mini commercial cost
- 38:38almost $10 million. Thirty mini commercials were
- 38:41about 8 and a half million dollars.
- 38:43It's ridiculous. What obviously the sponsors and
- 38:47these advertisers are willing to go out there and pay for some of
- 38:50them were cool. I'm not going to lie, I like the
- 38:53Cheers one with all the different sitcoms they they.
- 38:56Were together. What did they call that?
- 38:58Something Duncan or something. Goodwill's Goodwill something,
- 39:01yeah. Goodwill Duncan.
- 39:03Yeah, that was that was cool. Ben Affleck was in it.
- 39:06So it was cool. It was funny.
- 39:07Because one of my sponsors. Yeah, so they're.
- 39:09Giving away free coffee. You enter that in.
- 39:12I got my free coffee from them. Yeah, so that was cool.
- 39:15I mean, the commercials were interesting.
- 39:17If you didn't see the commercials, they have a whole,
- 39:19you go on YouTube, they'll they'll put it all.
- 39:21They put it like, what do they call that montage?
- 39:23A montage together where you can watch one at a time or put them
- 39:27all together. They put them all together as a
- 39:29montage. But it was the Super Bowl wasn't
- 39:32something that really was something to remember.
- 39:35And a lot of people would say it was one of the more boring Super
- 39:38Bowls. And the last one we can remember
- 39:39that was as boring was the Super Bowl with the Rams and the
- 39:43Patriots where there was no offense and more people.
- 39:45And I was watching the game with a bunch of people.
- 39:47They said we're rooting for the Patriots because we want to see
- 39:50this game get a little bit closer.
- 39:52So their their backs to get so well, I'll say this, if the
- 39:54Patriots came back in this game or it was even closer, I'd be
- 39:57scared because we've seen this before.
- 39:59The Patriots get back in the game, and they pull off some of
- 40:02the most amazing. Amazing throws and amazing
- 40:05catches that changed the pace of the game and and that that's
- 40:08what happens. All it takes is a a charge of
- 40:12that part of the game, especially in the fourth quarter
- 40:14because we saw and I after that pick six, I thought the game was
- 40:17over. And then Drake May got move the
- 40:20ball down the field and and then Mike McDonald was yelling at his
- 40:23team. He was yelling at the players on
- 40:24the defensive side of the ball saying it's not over, it's not
- 40:28over. You can read his lips, it's not
- 40:29over. This is not going to be we're
- 40:31not going to make this easy for them, but because again, the
- 40:34onside kicks and anything can happen in the Super, anything
- 40:37can happen in football. So I unfortunately it wasn't one
- 40:42of those games that you're going to remember offensively, but the
- 40:45dominance of the Seattle defense.
- 40:47I'm telling you right now, this is better than the Seattle
- 40:49Seahawks defense was when they won the Super Bowl against the
- 40:52Broncos against that offense that I know that that that that
- 40:57offense, that Broncos offense is one of the greatest offenses of
- 41:00all time. And this Patriot offense was
- 41:02not, but the way they dominated the ball defensively was
- 41:06amazing. And, and, and the different
- 41:08packages that, and by the way, there were packages they were
- 41:11using in this game. They they haven't used all
- 41:13season long. And that's to me, that shows you
- 41:16how good and how talented of a coach Mike McDonald has been all
- 41:21season long and how he drew it up to beat McDaniel.
- 41:24McDaniel has been the mastermind of this offense all season long
- 41:28and he's always been that guy that is going to find a way to
- 41:33beat teams, teams and beat great defenses.
- 41:35Well, he didn't find a way to beat this great defense in Super
- 41:39Bowl 60. And that says a lot about what
- 41:41what McDonald has done and what I believe he should have won at
- 41:45the award show. And that is Coach of the year,
- 41:48including Mr. Clint Kubiak, who's going to be the new head
- 41:51coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. Yeah, Drake May.
- 41:54I think the moment that ended, I think for him was the the
- 41:56interception after the Patriots got a stop on defense.
- 41:59It was 19 to 7 after the big play to Mack Hollins.
- 42:01Patriots got a quick three and out after that.
- 42:03And then Drake may hit a big play downfield.
- 42:05I think it was the Hollins again.
- 42:06And then he throws an interception right after that,
- 42:09the one that threw right at Julian Lowe.
- 42:10I think that was the. Big where do you think he under
- 42:13threw that ball or do you think he kept running through the
- 42:15route? Yeah, he.
- 42:16Under throw it, he definitely. He forced the ball.
- 42:19He he was completely shook by that point in the game.
- 42:24It was bad. It was I, Errol, you said the
- 42:27Rams game, I'm going to go back to the one that Seattle beat
- 42:30Peyton Manning and the Broncos when they won that 112 years
- 42:33ago, they just destroyed them. It wasn't close at all.
- 42:37Now this score, the score is closer here.
- 42:39But I mean, let's face it, this game was 29 to to 7.
- 42:44You know, like this game was over on a pick 6.
- 42:47I don't they're calling it a pick 6 because the ball didn't
- 42:48hit the ground. But that was Devin Witherspoon
- 42:51coming like a missile on a sack fumble taking back to the house.
- 42:54The ball just didn't hit the ground.
- 42:55So they're calling it a pick 6. Whatever.
- 42:58They had 7 sacks. They were bringing pressure from
- 43:01all over the place and I thought they were going to play, man.
- 43:03They just came up with some of the most interesting zone blitz
- 43:06games. Now, Speedy, you mentioned Cover
- 43:086 and Cover 4, but I think a lot of people don't realize there's
- 43:13three different ways is to play Cover 4.
- 43:15There's three different ways to play is the first way is you
- 43:18bring 4 rushers, the second way is you bring 5, and the third
- 43:21way is you bring 6. And obviously there's weaknesses
- 43:24underneath when you're bring extra guys.
- 43:27Drake May couldn't figure out where the guys were going to be
- 43:29open until late in the fourth quarter when they were driving
- 43:32and kind of probably making it easier trying to get him to eat
- 43:35up clock. He beat Bullen.
- 43:37He wasn't ready for the play and he wasn't set.
- 43:40And then he got beat on a deep ball.
- 43:42That was really the and May saw it.
- 43:44You know, credit made for that one.
- 43:45He wasn't set. So he just knew as soon as he
- 43:47got his deep of him as he couldn't stay in phase, it was
- 43:49over. And Hollins is a big guy.
- 43:51He can high point balls, right? That that was the only real
- 43:56offense they had. That touchdown was like a
- 43:58desperation flick, you know, in garbage time to Stevenson, who
- 44:03made a really cool play. I will say this also, Sam
- 44:05Donald, especially in the second-half, he got comfortable.
- 44:09He had that pass to Barner in the fourth quarter that I think
- 44:13sealed the deal. He he was so confident.
- 44:16Sam Donald didn't have to throw 300 yards in this game because
- 44:19he had a Kenneth Walker running the ball all over the field and
- 44:22completely dominating early in the game.
- 44:25And you can see the offensive line was pushing that young
- 44:29defensive line of the Patriots. They were pushing them, finding
- 44:32so many different holes early in the game.
- 44:35And Kenneth Walker is so elusive.
- 44:37He was spinning, he was stopping.
- 44:39He was he was finding, he was gelling through the hole.
- 44:42It was unbelievable. He was just it.
- 44:44It was impossible to stop. Impossible.
- 44:47You know what he was doing the most of Errol?
- 44:49He was doing this like they were running zone left.
- 44:51Like just like a regular inside zone to him and he would cut it
- 44:54all the way back to the backside gap because he knew Jackson,
- 44:58Smith and Jigba was going to occupy 2 guys or they were going
- 45:02to play two over him and or Gonzalez would be pressed up on
- 45:05him and he would just run away from that route.
- 45:07So now you can cut it back because there's no one there to
- 45:11make the tackle. Because they had to worry about
- 45:12Smith and Jigba even when he wasn't getting the ball because
- 45:16they had to keep Gonzalez on Shaheed because Shaheed was the
- 45:18deep threat. They couldn't just always put
- 45:20him on in Jigba because they're going to put him in a slot.
- 45:23They found ways to get him open. He had 10 targets.
- 45:25He only caught 4 balls. He got the concussion, probably
- 45:28had one. They still let him come back.
- 45:30You know, it's a Super Bowl, let's face it, you know, But I
- 45:33know you're not supposed to say that with the.
- 45:34NFL we're still going to bring him back as a decoy anyway.
- 45:37They're just. It was more as a decoy.
- 45:40He had his head pretty hard on the ground, you know.
- 45:42They also they also cranked his ankle too.
- 45:46I mean, at this point of the season, ever I.
- 45:48Thought it was an Achilles problem because when they pulled
- 45:50him out and they were testing they were looking at his ankle,
- 45:53they were grabbing his the back of his calf, which is where the
- 45:57Achilles is. So I was worried that he he tore
- 46:00his Achilles or partially I was. Wondering too because they said
- 46:03he was the one that made a decision to go to the locker
- 46:06room. Yeah, I mean, it could have been
- 46:07cramping in the in the calf though too.
- 46:09You know what? I.
- 46:09Mean, I didn't know that. I mean, we don't know.
- 46:11We don't know how to read lip. No, I'd say we don't know.
- 46:13The thing that I thought was the most interesting thing about
- 46:16this game game is the run game of the Patriots was supposed to
- 46:19be how they won this game. And you mention it, Rob, Andre
- 46:21Stevenson, he looked like it a couple of good runs early and
- 46:24away from it. They got away from it and they
- 46:26had to get away from it because they were behind and they got
- 46:30away from it too soon. Will Campbell, left tackle.
- 46:34I mean, we talk about. It horrible.
- 46:37He's a liability out there. I was watching some of the
- 46:40online expert guys dissect what he did.
- 46:42There was some good things he did which were more like certain
- 46:47past sets he's really good at, but a lot of them he doesn't get
- 46:51set because he doesn't know what move to choose.
- 46:54And DeMarcus Lawrence just took it straight to him.
- 46:56That was why they they kicked their ass.
- 46:57They only had to bring 4 guys and then he got to pick oh on
- 47:013rd down, let me bring this exotic blitz.
- 47:03He won't know how to stop it or they'll have to put Stevenson on
- 47:07my best blitzer and he's not going to be able to stop it.
- 47:09And that's what they did all game and it was just as soon as
- 47:13they got the third down, it was over.
- 47:16I mean, they got they only got away.
- 47:18Think about May like you should be able to scramble on four man
- 47:21rush. You should be able to.
- 47:23And he wasn't. He was not.
- 47:26They weren't spying him, they were just playing good old
- 47:29fashioned football and trusting their lineman to play discipline
- 47:32to keep him in the pocket. He was a deer in the headlights.
- 47:34Him. He was a deer in the headlights
- 47:36the whole game. And you could see that he was
- 47:37uncomfortable early in the game and he was forcing the ball.
- 47:41He was trying to throw the ball away because everywhere he was
- 47:44looking there was somebody up his ass.
- 47:46He was running inside and out of the pocket.
- 47:48And what I thought Seattle did so very well was keep him in the
- 47:52pocket, make him throw the ball, make him try to beat him with
- 47:56his arm. And they knew that he couldn't
- 47:58with the talent that they had. And Stefan Diggs, the whole game
- 48:01was talking crap. And everybody was saying, I, I,
- 48:04I know in the fourth quarter there was something going on in
- 48:06sidelines and. Well, yeah, job started that, so
- 48:09Diggs was retaliating. Yeah, but what was Diggs doing
- 48:12throughout the game to to to start with Job?
- 48:15I mean, the whole game he was talking crap.
- 48:18Even before the game when they were doing the corn flip and he
- 48:21was out there in the middle. What was he saying?
- 48:23You could read his goddamn lips. The guy, the guy's a
- 48:26troublemaker. That's what he is.
- 48:28And he was only out there. I think he was only out there to
- 48:31be a decoy because he did nothing on the football field.
- 48:34How many catches did he have? Two, 1-2 and they were both
- 48:37later in the game. I mean, he was horrible.
- 48:39He was the one catch and digs it too.
- 48:41And they have, and I'm going to tell you this right now, the the
- 48:43weakness of the New England Patriots is their wide
- 48:45receivers. That's not an excuse for Drake
- 48:47May because we see quarterbacks over the years get to the Super
- 48:50Bowl with lesser talent. So I don't want to hear that
- 48:53from the Patriots fans. Well, look who he's throwing to.
- 48:56Hey, if you're an elite quarterback and you're VP MVP
- 48:58candidate, you said that about Tom Brady.
- 49:00We've said that many, many times about quarterbacks over the
- 49:03years that have made it so far. I don't want to hear that.
- 49:06Drake may have nothing to throw to.
- 49:08He had players. He just couldn't get the ball
- 49:10over there. He doesn't have a number one
- 49:12guy, but there are a lot of teams.
- 49:14Did Josh Allen have a number one guy all season long?
- 49:16He didn't. There are teams out there that
- 49:19don't have #1 guys. That's not an excuse.
- 49:21So Drake May, you're an MVP candidate.
- 49:23You got to go out there and make plays no matter what if you want
- 49:26to be considered an elite quarterback.
- 49:28Yeah, as Tom Brady was. Yeah, wasn't the argument that
- 49:31you and the Beef had a while ago, Wasn't the Beef's main
- 49:33faces of Tom Brady didn't have receivers to throw?
- 49:36You should see what the beef was saying throughout the game.
- 49:39The whole game, I think he was rooting for the Patriots.
- 49:42He was. Like I got what the beef?
- 49:44This is the beefs deli. We got some scenes from the
- 49:47actions. There was no, I wasn't at the
- 49:49deli, I was at his family's house.
- 49:51There was some deli food. By the way, the chili made me on
- 49:54a dump after, after I got home, I was on the toilet for like 4
- 49:58or five times and throughout the morning.
- 49:59So I got to say the chili was good.
- 50:01Anytime you you're going to the bathroom after that, you know,
- 50:04it's good job. You know all about the chili.
- 50:05If it's making you go to the bathroom, it's burning a little
- 50:08hole in the little tailbone over there, but.
- 50:11But did you do chili and cinnamon rolls?
- 50:13That's the key. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no,
- 50:15no, no, no cinnamon rolls. Wrong with you guys.
- 50:18What is wrong? With you don't knock it till you
- 50:20try it. Come on, it's chili with
- 50:22cinnamon rolls. The.
- 50:25Oscars. Nebraska Delicacy.
- 50:28Oh. My God.
- 50:30Jabba. Yeah.
- 50:31Chili with cinnamon rolls. It's unbelievable.
- 50:35It'll change your life. It'll change your life.
- 50:37Yeah, it'll also give me diabetes.
- 50:41No, if you want a cinnamon roll, I ain't going to give you
- 50:43diabetes. To have cinnamon rolls, you want
- 50:46the sugar on it, right? You want that icing on it.
- 50:49It gives it that nice. Little 1 cinnamon roll.
- 50:51Oh dude, I don't have one. If I have one I have many.
- 50:54I don't just eat 1 cinnamon roll I mean.
- 50:57So you're not going to have multiple bowls of chili.
- 51:00You're not a bowl of chili. Dude, I had like 3 bowls of
- 51:02chili. I had three of them and, and I
- 51:05was, you know. Just over the course of the
- 51:07game, maybe no. I had them pretty quick, man,
- 51:10And then I, I started burning a hole in my stomach.
- 51:11I was like, I got to stay away from that stuff.
- 51:13So I was in and out of the bathroom early, but I, I really
- 51:19was, I'm not going to lie, but it was good.
- 51:21I, I actually, I don't like hot stuff, but when it comes to
- 51:24chili, I can eat it hot as long as it's not too hot where it's
- 51:27burning the hell out of your mouth.
- 51:29But I, I used to eat a lot of Haitian food when I used to
- 51:32train with my friend when we did mixed martial arts, his mom used
- 51:35to make this, this Haitian soup that was so spicy it you would
- 51:39lose your, your taste buds when you eat it because you couldn't
- 51:42even taste it. It was so, so hot.
- 51:44I got so used to it was so good that now if I eat Hot Chili, I'm
- 51:48actually, it doesn't affect me. So because I, I know what hot
- 51:52is. But I to get back to what we
- 51:54were talking about with the Super Bowl, I, I just thought it
- 51:57was they were just completely outmatched.
- 51:59And, and I expected that there was no way in hell that the
- 52:02Patriots, Patriots were going to put up a fight with the way the
- 52:05secondary was playing and the way the pass rush.
- 52:07And by the way, in the second-half, they completely
- 52:10smothered any kind of running game.
- 52:11The Patriots had any kind of running game.
- 52:14They smothered it. They didn't.
- 52:16And I was very surprised, like you said, Fish Ramondre early in
- 52:20the game, they they had some successful Ramondre Stevenson.
- 52:23Why didn't they start to continue handing him the ball to
- 52:26open up seams? So it opened up the throwing
- 52:28game. It just made no sense.
- 52:30It was terrible play calling by by Mike McDaniel.
- 52:33If Josh McDaniels, Josh McDaniels, I think got really
- 52:38schooled in this one. I think a lot of the blitzes
- 52:41especially, he just knew how to target the types of protections
- 52:45they were going to run. He just knew it.
- 52:48And I think speedy, you tell me. I thought early in the game, I
- 52:51thought it was real obvious that every time they blitzed there
- 52:56was a certain check down that was going to be immediate or a
- 53:00hot route that was immediately covered by Seattle.
- 53:03They knew where all of the hot routes were in McDaniel.
- 53:06Spygate Spygate 2 That's that's. The underrated aspect with with
- 53:12one, just to get talked about as much on that defense with Ernest
- 53:14Jones, he did that with the Rams.
- 53:15It's cool film and I and they said that before the game and
- 53:19they were doing like these like these stories about the coaches.
- 53:23They did that thing about Mike McDonald and they were talking
- 53:26about how he's like a film freak and that he watch his old film
- 53:30and new film and he studies it. That's why I think Mike
- 53:33McDonald, just one of the best defensive minds right now in the
- 53:35NFL is he watches film. He he understands how he's going
- 53:40to play against McDaniel and how he's going to play against all
- 53:43the elite offensive minds in the NFL.
- 53:45And I think he just completely smothered Josh and and Josh had
- 53:49no answer from the from the first half to the second-half.
- 53:52And you, like I said, that's when you know, that separates
- 53:56the, the, I believe the elite teams to the secondary teams.
- 54:00I don't think the, the Patriots are an elite team.
- 54:03I as much as I, I saw them to be very successful this year and
- 54:08throughout the AFC. The AFC is so weak.
- 54:11And even next year, unless there's the AFC like juices up,
- 54:15like Buffalo gets a little bit better and Baltimore adds some
- 54:18defensive playing and maybe they they get the right defensive
- 54:22coordinator. Do you think the the regular
- 54:24season, obviously their strength of schedule is obviously one of
- 54:26the worst ever? Do you think that played a huge
- 54:28part? 100 percent, 100% because I said
- 54:31it going into the playoffs that we're going to see what Drake
- 54:34May is and what he's made of because he hasn't played against
- 54:37the elite offenses in the AFC. And we saw it, I know it was, it
- 54:43was snowing throughout the playoffs and, and there's no,
- 54:46but there's no excuse. Drake May just was not as good
- 54:49as he was throughout the first, what, 12 games of the season.
- 54:53At the tail end of the season, he wasn't playing as well as he
- 54:56was early in the season. And that says a lot about the
- 55:00strength, the schedule. And and again, that's why I
- 55:03think next year we're going to see how really good Drake May is
- 55:06going to be because he's going to play against the best teams,
- 55:10the number one seeds in all of the conferences.
- 55:13So we'll see. And Java, that's another reason
- 55:14too. We've seen a lot of NFC West
- 55:16teams in the Super Bowl over the years, too, because they've
- 55:17always been a really competitive division.
- 55:19And they, outside of Arizona, who went to O 8, all the three
- 55:24of those teams made multiple Super Bowls recently because
- 55:26they're used to that kind of thing.
- 55:27Now, obviously, you can say the same thing with the Patriots
- 55:29making it a lot with Brady and Belichick, but that's because
- 55:31they had to buy a lot of the time.
- 55:32They weren't competing in an easy division.
- 55:34Now, Brady and Belichick, yeah, Drake May got a easy ride
- 55:38basically with what they had to play, but they weren't.
- 55:40He was not ready for a pass rush like this or a defense like
- 55:42this. Thing about this for a second,
- 55:45they didn't have to go through a playoffs in the AFC this year
- 55:48with Joe Burrow in it, with Patrick Mahomes in it, or Lamar
- 55:51Jackson. And right, they didn't have to
- 55:53face any of those 3 elite quarterbacks.
- 55:56And they have to play Josh Allen because Josh Allen lost the week
- 55:58before. And they didn't have to face
- 56:01Josh Allen. And Josh Allen beat them in that
- 56:04rubber match earlier in the season pretty decisively, I
- 56:07thought. So to me, they this was their
- 56:11real chance because they're going to have those teams are
- 56:13going to really ante up. You expect them to be back and
- 56:16it's going to be hard to go through them unless Drake may
- 56:19really levels up from where he is now.
- 56:21It's a great effort. They said that he was banged up.
- 56:24I'm sure we'll hear about some kind of, you know, hand or foot
- 56:27surgery or some bullshit like that that he's probably has to
- 56:30get. Just look at the end of the
- 56:31season, no matter how easy the schedule was, you play 20
- 56:34football games, you're not feeling 100%.
- 56:37You know what I'm saying? Like at best, you're 70 at best.
- 56:40And there's no way after playing after getting hit as much as he
- 56:43did in that Super Bowl, he feels anywhere near that.
- 56:46So I I think that it's going to be real hard for them to come
- 56:49back. The Seahawks, though, I think
- 56:50Sky's the limit. You're right, man, this
- 56:52McDonald's, he's he. I loved watching him right at
- 56:58the end when they showed him on camera.
- 57:00I'm. Just looking at everything.
- 57:01Just kind of like, I feel like he had like a checklist in his
- 57:04head because he's a coach. He's like, remember to take it
- 57:07all in, you know what I mean? Like and he just made sure that
- 57:10he he looked up and he watched all the confetti come down.
- 57:14The guy deserved every single. Second, he also went before the
- 57:17game when everybody, all the media was interviewing him and
- 57:19they were asking him questions about, you know, himself.
- 57:23He didn't want to give himself any of the compliments.
- 57:26It was all about his team and, and, and telling and, and
- 57:29telling the media that if we didn't have this guy and we
- 57:31didn't have that guy, we wouldn't be where we were today.
- 57:34And, and, and he, he had so many great raving, you know,
- 57:40emotional things to say about Schneider and how Schneider gave
- 57:43him a chance to, to coach this team and give, get his first
- 57:46opportunity as a head coach. And, and, and look at look at
- 57:48what, where it's transitioned into it.
- 57:50It's unbelievable. And this story is, is pretty
- 57:54interesting because if you know anything about what McDonald did
- 57:58and to get this position, he was like a he was like a towel boy.
- 58:02His whole, you know, he, he has to move up.
- 58:04Yeah, he was an intern, a towel boy, a water boy.
- 58:07He. Almost quick football.
- 58:09He was quick coaching. Yep.
- 58:11So it is an interesting story when you, you, you think about
- 58:15what it took and like, it's really his passion for the game
- 58:19and the love for the game. When when you talk about how he
- 58:22had to the ups and downs he had to deal with, kind of like, you
- 58:25know me with, with radio and stuff like that.
- 58:27It's an amazing story because you got to be passionate.
- 58:29You got to love what you do and you got to believe in yourself
- 58:32that you're willing to work to get to that next step and then
- 58:36move up the chain and, and climb the ladder.
- 58:39And that's what he did and that's why it's such an
- 58:41impressive story. And he's still a very young
- 58:44coach and has an opportunity to be as successful as we've seen a
- 58:49lot of these dynasty teams over the last couple, you know, last
- 58:52era of teams that we've seen in the past.
- 58:55So this Seattle Seahawks team, this isn't the last time we're
- 58:58going to see them this I'm sure of it.
- 59:00And it probably we're going to see this, this team as an elite
- 59:03team for the next 5 to 6 years because of the talent, the draft
- 59:06stock that Schneider really starts to build.
- 59:09And, and the guy knows how to draft.
- 59:10If you look at his draft, he he drafts his draft start in the
- 59:14third and fourth round. It's not really the first and
- 59:16second round is where he dominates.
- 59:18It's his understanding on how to find guys in the 3rd, 4th, 5th,
- 59:226th and 7th rounds because he has hit on a lot of those guys
- 59:26and some of them became Hall of Farmers.
- 59:28So we understand what he's capable of doing.
- 59:31And then bringing guys. He was the one that brought in
- 59:33Marshawn Lynch from Buffalo. Remember, Marshawn Lynch was not
- 59:36drafted by Seattle. Schneider was the one that made
- 59:39that move to bring him in. Schneider also was the one that
- 59:42brought in Matt Flynn. He made a mistake with Matt
- 59:44Flynn, but he hit a home run when he hit Russell Wilson and
- 59:47you know, in 3rd in a third round.
- 59:49So, but he hasn't been. And again, finding quarterbacks
- 59:52are not easy. We've said this many, many
- 59:54times. And he's that was that that's
- 59:56been his his problem over the last, I would say the last five
- 1:00:00or six years when they decided to move away from Russell Wilson
- 1:00:03is finding that guy that's going to replace him.
- 1:00:05So I think he found him. Sam Donald is a young guy.
- 1:00:08He's 28 years old. He was the youngest quarterback
- 1:00:10drafted in the NFL history with the New York Jets at the age of
- 1:00:1319. And I think he's got a
- 1:00:15tremendous future with the Seattle Seahawks team with a
- 1:00:17great offensive line, great defense and a great coach.
- 1:00:20I I think that the Sky's the limit for this team.
- 1:00:23Speaking of the fact, Errol quickly they mentioned a stat
- 1:00:27after the Super Bowls won Schneider 12 years apart with
- 1:00:32two different completely different rosters, not a single
- 1:00:34player on the roster from the first run.
- 1:00:37There's almost nobody who's ever done that as a general manager.
- 1:00:41Nobody's ever done, you know, like now there's plenty of
- 1:00:43general managers that one had two different runs, but not in
- 1:00:47the same place like that. The fact that he was able to
- 1:00:50completely recreate it with obviously with the vision and
- 1:00:53make Donald in this roster build, but he's he's somebody
- 1:00:56that if they win another one with this group, they're going
- 1:01:01to talk about that guy for the Hall of Fame in about a decade.
- 1:01:03He's a Hall of Famer already. There's no question that he's a
- 1:01:06Hall of Famer. And by the way, where did Snyder
- 1:01:08come from, Speedy? I actually don't know.
- 1:01:10The Green Bay Packers. I don't know either.
- 1:01:12The Green Bay Packers. So oh.
- 1:01:15With you know what else is cool about Mike McDonald?
- 1:01:18Maria Taylor gave him the trophy and they went to high school
- 1:01:21together in Georgia. Wow, that's interesting.
- 1:01:25Yeah. Anyways, that's it for our show,

- 1:03:07my dumb ass is right here. So glad to have you, but no,
- 1:03:11it's, it's been fun. I've learned a lot.
- 1:03:14I pay attention to different things more.
- 1:03:16And what I pay attention to is thanking all the people that
- 1:03:19watch and spend their time and when they're in the car, just
- 1:03:23listen to us and downloading us and, and just listening to the
- 1:03:26craziness or whatever the hell is going to come out of our
- 1:03:29mouths because we don't really know.
- 1:03:30This is not scripted. We just kind of go, we kind of
- 1:03:33have a, an, an outline of what's going to happen.
- 1:03:36We don't know if it's going to really happen, but no, just
- 1:03:39appreciate everybody, appreciate all you guys and your time and
- 1:03:42the hard work that everybody puts in and it's going to be a
- 1:03:45fun year. That's all I can say.
- 1:03:46It is. And then congratulations to your
- 1:03:48son. He's he's got a chance to do
- 1:03:50some big things at a Hutch and then D1 baseball possibly.
- 1:03:54So I'm hoping for the best for your kid.
- 1:03:56And Carter has been a fan of our show and we're a fan of his and
- 1:04:00we only wish him the best. And we have a lot of great
- 1:04:03things coming up and we're going to.
- 1:04:05Announce the stuff, Oklahoma. There you go.
- 1:04:08So yeah, well, that's true too. But we have a lot of great
- 1:04:12things coming up and and like I said, it's going to be a big
- 1:04:14year for us. I really do believe that by by
- 1:04:17September, we're going to have a huge announcements and, and, and
- 1:04:20all that other stuff. So for all the fans that TuneIn
- 1:04:22and support us and and love what we do.
- 1:04:25Like, like Jabba says this, this show is not scripted.
- 1:04:29Everything we do is off the head.
- 1:04:31We don't know what's going to happen.
- 1:04:32And that's what makes us unique. We don't have people talking to
- 1:04:36us in our, you know, our ears giving us information before we
- 1:04:40speak. You know, it's, it's really just
- 1:04:42off the cuff. And that's what makes the the
- 1:04:44show very unique. And that's what makes us
