- 0:00We've been going through this effort as a guide, as the
- 0:05development of a person and really becoming roll around the
- 0:09Jews. This is one of the big elements
- 0:12is to analyze how to perform proper, which means proper
- 0:17guides of our children, grandchildren, goes around us.
- 0:21So we dealt with the theme of discipline, how important it is,
- 0:25what the significance that he mentions about how the way
- 0:29parents themselves act. It's probably much more
- 0:32important than what they say, as we know, because it's a very
- 0:35strange phenomenon. That is, the children end up
- 0:38coming back to the way their parents acted.
- 0:41Whether they claim to or plan to does not make a difference.
- 0:45It's literally gravity. You end up one way or another.
- 0:48You might be in a different world, might be part of a
- 0:51different class. You might be the parents were
- 0:54the parents were not observant and the children are very
- 0:56observant. Doesn't make a difference.
- 0:59They end up, one way or another, being in style very similar to
- 1:03their parents and their character, the way they treat
- 1:05people and the way they act very, very similar to their
- 1:09parents. And therefore it's extremely
- 1:10important that the parents are conscious of the ACT, especially
- 1:14in front of the children. But you can't really hide.
- 1:15So that means you act in general.
- 1:17You want to have good kids. You have to shape up is
- 1:19basically the idea. And the way we are, we ourselves
- 1:23act. That's just a reality.
- 1:24I happen to notice that there are parents and children that
- 1:29are a completely different groups, which mean, let's say a
- 1:33classic case. A father is a businessman,
- 1:36regular businessman, he runs a big company and the son is a
- 1:40learner called Elgai Rabbi. I have one case in mind that I'm
- 1:45thinking about as I give you the example.
- 1:47There are many of these, obviously throughout the
- 1:49community, but what's very interesting is, is that the son
- 1:53as a rabbi is very similar to his father as a businessman.
- 1:58That means his father is extremely, extremely aggressive.
- 2:02His son and learning is extremely aggressive.
- 2:05His father is very caring, His son's very caring.
- 2:08It's like elements that come out the same, even though they're
- 2:10from completely different worlds.
- 2:12Because no matter what the children copy their parents in
- 2:15overall style, they're not going to live in the exact same world
- 2:19that you and I live in because they grow up in a different
- 2:21world. Maybe they have different
- 2:22surroundings in a sense, so they go a bit of a different way, but
- 2:25the overall style remains the same.
- 2:28And therefore that tells us that we have to be very careful and
- 2:32conscious about how we live our own lives if we want to have a
- 2:36good effect on our children. That's the thing that he brings.
- 2:39And I believe you've probably seen the same test and I've seen
- 2:42the same results. But then he goes on to tell you
- 2:47that he doesn't word as the biggest item, but I'll tell you
- 2:50what's the biggest item. The number one most effective
- 2:53tool for a parent outside of the way they act is tefillah prayer.
- 3:01We talk about prayer all the time.
- 3:02We're very busy with tefillah. We pray two times a day.
- 3:05We pray on Shabbat in the holidays.
- 3:07We spend a lot of time in Chul. All that is correct.
- 3:10The most single most effective, powerful, a needy area a person
- 3:17has when it comes to prayer in regarding to their children's
- 3:22growth. That's it.
- 3:24Praying for the children. The fact I've said this before
- 3:28that I have a recording I bought Ausb and I have it playing in my
- 3:32car. It was from a, a rabbi who was
- 3:34the mosquito of liquid. I'm about to tell Solomon and
- 3:38for some reason my old car told you this has some sort of
- 3:41problem. And every time the call went on
- 3:45that USB, if it was stuck into the car, it would play and it
- 3:49would not only play, it would play in that certain spot every
- 3:51single time. It was a little bit annoying.
- 3:53Eventually it took it out, but it would play.
- 3:55And what would it play? That this rabbi would say that
- 3:58he heard from great rabbis that the number one greatest 2 for
- 4:03Hinuk, he said the words the helium and tears.
- 4:07The helium and tears, which means parents praying for their
- 4:11children is the most powerful tool that they have in their
- 4:15arsenal to pray, pray constantly.
- 4:19That's how it works. I'm Koninsky saying this in his
- 4:22book. He's saying that they feel loud.
- 4:23Parents with children, it's very important.
- 4:25I mean, every single day he says, do not miss a day.
- 4:29And you should pray for your children and you should say, you
- 4:32should say for Hashem. I want myself and my children
- 4:35and grandchildren, my offsprings to be able to follow in the in
- 4:39the right footsteps and to be able to go in the right
- 4:41direction. So the tears and the prayer are
- 4:45extremely powerful tools. Now.
- 4:47I remember a story. His Ruby reembarmed Brian
- 4:50Kanievski. His father was a Stifler, OK,
- 4:55The Stifler was a great guy on himself, major books, a very big
- 4:59deal on his own right, in a certain sense, even a bigger
- 5:02deal than his son. And when the Stifler was an old
- 5:05man and the son of Brian was 50 in his 50s, he used to say, I
- 5:11don't go one day without praying for my son Chayan.
- 5:15What's going to be with my son Chayan?
- 5:17You're talking about the future. Go to our door.
- 5:19Who already at that time in his 50s finished shots all the time
- 5:24was already in his 50s able to be tested on anywhere in the
- 5:27Torah. When I say anywhere in the
- 5:29Torah, I used to have the following tests with his chosen.
- 5:31Let me do this test. He he was no are going.
- 5:36How do you play with his kids? What was his fun with his kids?
- 5:39You know, he didn't play character.
- 5:41He didn't play baseball. It wasn't going to work for him.
- 5:43What was his game? He would let his kids test him
- 5:47on certain tests. For example, they would ask him
- 5:51this is that city. How with his kids, little kids,
- 5:52he was in his age. They would ask him what's the
- 5:55what's the word? And it tie it to the with the
- 5:58longest letters and he would answer it.
- 6:01You know the answer. I didn't know the answer.
- 6:03It's a word to make him get out this tid but I'll stop and him
- 6:08it's a word with 11 letters. His children would test him and
- 6:12he knew the answer, right? They would ask him what's the
- 6:15shortest mishnah? Tamu babli?
- 6:17I mean, you have to know the entire shot.
- 6:19That's the best answer. And he would say asara Mishnah
- 6:23in the zealot. All right, the longest mishnah
- 6:27and you have the answer, the shortest pedekateleim.
- 6:30His kids would ask him the longest pedekateleim and he
- 6:33would have the answer of every single one.
- 6:35His kids were told test Daddy on all these questions.
- 6:39The shortest Navi, the shortest peddick emission now the longest
- 6:44peddick, on and on. He had every single answer.
- 6:46That's how knowledgeable he was. He didn't just learn Chas.
- 6:49He didn't just know Chas. He was able to answer as a
- 6:52computer. All right.
- 6:54He was your friend before you hide your friend, OK, He was
- 6:58shot before you hide, Chad. And at that same time, his
- 7:03father was still alive with saying about his son.
- 7:07I pray for my son Chi. And what's going to be with my
- 7:09son Chi? And what are you talking about?
- 7:10The guy knows everything, but still the father prayed for his
- 7:13son. And that theme tells you that
- 7:16not only is praying for your children important, it's
- 7:19important when they're little, they're young, when they're in
- 7:22high school, when they graduate, when they get married, 2 get
- 7:25married, when they have children on their own.
- 7:27You pray. You pray constantly.
- 7:30This should be on your mind every single day.
- 7:33You should know, of course, you do know the name of every
- 7:36grandchild, and you should pray for them too.
- 7:38And it should be constantly on your mind.
- 7:40Have to literally you are their wings.
- 7:45We are living on the wings of our parents to Fila.
- 7:49It's that simple. So therefore, we want our
- 7:52grandchildren when they're facing a challenge and they're
- 7:55dealing with something in work, you know what's going to get
- 7:57them through it? Their parents prayer, their
- 7:58grandparents prayer, that's going to get them through it.
- 8:01To Fila that we put literally is the wings for our family and
- 8:06should be on our mind every single day.
- 8:10It's the most powerful tool of Renuk that you have.
- 8:13After you being a good person is your Tefila.
- 8:16In other words, you break it down.
- 8:19Renuk is not how much I guide them because they're only going
- 8:22to guide them so much. It's not how much I push them
- 8:26because I can only push them so much.
- 8:28It's not how much I hug them because I can only hug them so
- 8:32much. You know what it is boils down
- 8:34to tears. Tefila and how I act.
- 8:39That's my 2 main tools of renuk. If you would ask anybody what
- 8:43are the main tools of renuk, they would for sure say what you
- 8:47tell them, how you preach, how you discipline, how you love
- 8:50them. Not true.
- 8:52The two main tools of renuk turns out are how you act and
- 8:59how you pray for them. Everything else is very
- 9:01important, but these two are the main 2 and if you've seen great,
- 9:05great people grow up, it's a very good chance these are the
- 9:08things that made them who they are, how their parents acted and
- 9:13how exactly their parents prayed for them and should be literally
- 9:17on the tip of our tongue. Every single Amidah should end
- 9:21with at least I shouldn't please be there for my children in
- 9:24general. And you want to get more
- 9:25specific, get more specific. If your child there's a big
- 9:28meeting that day, say that name. If your child has a dealing with
- 9:32something, say that name at least.
- 9:35And if you want say every name, everything we love, it's not
- 9:38like we have a zillion children. It's a few.
- 9:41They're all our whole life. We would give the world for
- 9:44them. So we might as well pray for
- 9:46them. That's what he's telling you.
- 9:48And this is brought down in many sources.
- 9:49And they have proofs that certain people, we pray for
- 9:53their children very much. And children turned out to
- 9:56become great people. They are both played for their
- 9:59children. We know that.
- 10:00And we have many other examples where they pray for their
- 10:03children and they carried out in a great way.
- 10:06Music tells you now we'll close with one last tool and then
- 10:10we'll go into next week, hopefully.
- 10:11The last tool is to get you, your children used to an idea.
- 10:16Cold you got shamayim, fear of heaven.
- 10:21It's a very distant idea. It's something that took us a
- 10:24long time to get ourselves. But he says get your children
- 10:27used to that tool. What is you got shamayim?
- 10:31And why would I tell my children anything about fearing God?
- 10:34Why is it a thing? What is fear of heaven?
- 10:37Fear of heavenness. If you're in a private moment,
- 10:42you're alone, there's nobody around, and you attempted to do
- 10:46something that's not fully appropriate.
- 10:49Are you attempted to use language in a reaction to what
- 10:51something did to you? And you want to slam me at and
- 10:54say, you know what, whatever. You want to drop a line And you
- 10:58would never say in public, but you would say in private.
- 11:02Fear in heaven controls that. Yad Jomayim says I can't say it
- 11:07in public, so I'm not going to say it in private.
- 11:09It's the same thing because God is with me in private.
- 11:12Yad Jomayim says if I would never steal in public, I'm never
- 11:15going to do something dishonest in private either because God is
- 11:18with me in private. If I would never look at
- 11:20something in public, I would never look something
- 11:22inappropriate in private because I shine what's with me in
- 11:25private. And it ends up Yad Jomayim ends
- 11:29up molding your life to become and 100% successful life because
- 11:36not only are you good in public, you're also good in areas where
- 11:41you're alone. And that's so much of our life.
- 11:43Who would I know that we see people that we officially know
- 11:47and we know we don't know half the story of these people 'cause
- 11:50we don't know what they do in their homes.
- 11:52We don't know how they are and work.
- 11:53We don't know what they do when they get angry.
- 11:55We don't know what they do when they're around certain people
- 11:58that are bad for them. We don't know the full story.
- 12:00You have Shamayim. Fear of heaven allows them to
- 12:04have a full story. So he's telling you as a parent
- 12:08you want to get your children to be fully rounded.
- 12:11You want to get your children to be careful from ever making
- 12:15mistakes and to be on the right track to be good even when
- 12:20they're alone, typically, even when they're alone with their
- 12:23wife, when they're alone with their children, when they're
- 12:25alone in the office, right, when they're literally alone with
- 12:28themselves. You want them to be good people.
- 12:31They need to get used to the idea that there's something
- 12:34called fear of heaven, because without that, yeah, there might
- 12:38be fear of government that's limited.
- 12:40There might be fear of reputation that's also limited.
- 12:44There might be a fear of losing their money or losing their name
- 12:48or maybe getting into a fight. They're afraid of those things.
- 12:50But there's still a lot of areas that they can say to themselves
- 12:54as 0 repercussions 0. And act exactly the way I want,
- 12:59right? And then they need to add to
- 13:01that. Eat out your mind.
- 13:02Otherwise you and I know many people who are nice people out
- 13:08there, good people out there. I recently was revealed the
- 13:11person that I thought was a fine person, and it turns out it
- 13:14isn't very wrong. And you and I know such people
- 13:16and what happens where they missing you're out your mind.
- 13:20It's all about the fact that there's No Fear of heaven.
- 13:23Fear of heaven filters into all the areas where there's nobody
- 13:27else around and there's no one who's going to stop them.
- 13:30And there's nothing that's going to shame them and there's
- 13:32nothing they're going to lose if they act the wrong way.
- 13:35That's where Shamayan comes in and tells you that might be
- 13:39true. You know, you're the the closest
- 13:42one you are to in the world is God.
- 13:44And God's right here, he doesn't like their language, he doesn't
- 13:48like that activity. He's not really fond of that.
- 13:51You know what you're looking. He's not fond of the way we're
- 13:53not being honest with money and it'll stop us.
- 13:56So therefore the son from his parents needs to be raised when
- 14:01you're out of your mind because you want your children to be
- 14:04completely whole. You want them to be good
- 14:06everywhere. So let them get used to the
- 14:08idea. There's such a thing as Hashem.
- 14:11We never ever, even though my brother dropped some some of
- 14:15that those words in a speech last night, but we never really
- 14:17say Gangnam in a speech, right? We don't do it.
- 14:21It's not classic, it's not community.
- 14:23We don't do it. You don't want to fear people
- 14:25about Gangnam. It's it's scary.
- 14:28It's not really going to do anything good for people fun.
- 14:31But we do need our children to know there's such a thing called
- 14:36punishment. There's such a thing called
- 14:39repercussions. Life is not just all do whatever
- 14:42you want and you're going to come around.
- 14:44There's such a thing as making a mistake and there's something to
- 14:48pay for it. You don't need to use Gangnam as
- 14:50an example, but you do need to use the idea that the all
- 14:54ramifications to your actions. If children grow up in a world
- 14:57that there's no such thing and they will end up really do
- 15:02whatever they want. And yet they're going to want to
- 15:04have a good reputation because it's, well, it's nice to be well
- 15:06known and well, like in the community, it feels good.
- 15:09But they'll figure out the dance, sadly, where they can
- 15:12have a reputation as to what they do, what they want.
- 15:14Unless they carry you out. Sham.
- 15:17I am. That's why getting used to the
- 15:19idea of fearing God is so important.
- 15:22And what does that mean? I'm aware that Hashem exists
- 15:25everywhere. You know, the little child line.
- 15:29Hashem is here, Hashem is there. Hashem is truly everywhere.
- 15:32That is a reality that a child needs to know and an adult needs
- 15:35to know. Sadly, many of those don't have
- 15:37Yurajamayim and all they have is yurat pineadam.
- 15:40We know the Gemara. When they came to the rabbi and
- 15:43they asked the rabbi who was dying, they said give us a
- 15:46braha. Give us a we'll close this, give
- 15:49us a braha. What's a blessing?
- 15:51A great rabbi was either tanah or amurah.
- 15:55A man with ruach ha kodesh who probably had the Co-op to bring
- 15:58back the dead. That's how powerful he was.
- 16:00Or what bracha is the rabbi going to give his students?
- 16:04I think it was a but I'm not sure.
- 16:07What bracha did he give his students?
- 16:08No, I couldn't have been him, but someone else, you know, the
- 16:12blessing he gave his students was I bless you.
- 16:15And you should fear Hashem as much as you fear man.
- 16:20That's a bracha. A great rabbi gives great
- 16:24students. You should fear God as much as
- 16:26you fear man. If you ask us on a whim, who do
- 16:29I fear more, God or man? I would be sure say God.
- 16:32Of course I fear God more. Really.
- 16:35Is that true? You say something funny, don't
- 16:37you look around to make sure no one's looking right?
- 16:40You do something a little wrong, don't you?
- 16:41Make sure no one's watching you? Hey, one second, if you fear God
- 16:44more than you fear man, you should look at God first before
- 16:46you look at the routing, right? Obviously the natural
- 16:50inclination of a great person is still to fear man more than God.
- 16:55And that's why the rabbi blessed students and said, I want you to
- 16:59fear Hashem as much, at least as much as you fear man.
- 17:04And they said, that's it. He says, I wish, I wish my
- 17:07blessing will come true because it's hard to imagine this, but
- 17:11our heart will come true, which shows us that we have a long way
- 17:14to go. Everyone has a long way to go
- 17:16when it comes to you. That's your mind.
- 17:17And that's what we want our children to get used to.
- 17:20It doesn't have to be heavy. It doesn't have to include the
- 17:23word Gaynam. It doesn't need to include
- 17:25massive scary talk. But it needs to include the idea
- 17:31that there's a sham everywhere and everything we do has Hashem
- 17:35on vacation alone in the office when we're just alone with one
- 17:39other person and we're alone with ourselves.
- 17:42Hashem is here. He's really here.
- 17:44And I don't want to mess up. If you get your children used to
- 17:47that idea, how you do that, that's your own art.
- 17:50If you get your children used to that idea and what I'm saying,
- 17:53and it's a clear idea that they're going to become fully
- 17:56well-rounded good Jews because not only will it be good in
- 17:59public, good in chill, good when everyone's watching, they'll
- 18:04also be good alone, alone, alone, and they'll be able to
- 18:08say themselves. I can't mess up here because
- 18:10it's same way. I would never say that Lauren
- 18:12and shul or be around an inappropriate situation is shul.
- 18:18Imagine the Bouchard right in the face.
- 18:20They would be if it's shul, people saw them doing what
- 18:23they're doing. I can't do it in private either.
- 18:25It's the exact same setting. In fact, it's worse because it's
- 18:27only God over here and he's watching me and I'm in big
- 18:30trouble. You get used to that idea.
- 18:33You'll be more zoned in to avoid any of these mistakes.
- 18:37That's his team. Exactly.
- 18:39That makes sense. Yeah.
- 18:41She's a couple. Three concerts we have from
- 18:43today. How the Parents Act.
- 18:45That was reviewed from last week.
- 18:46How their parents pray is really a dominant theme.
- 18:51And what you, what makes your children who they are is how
- 18:53much Tiffany you've given them. Literally, and getting your
- 18:57children used to the idea that there's such a thing called
- 19:00Hashem everywhere. You know how, Shamaya?
- 19:03We'll keep them always acting the same.
- 19:06And our best blessing is if I always chose you, how good and
- 19:10private the way they are in public.
- 19:13That's a very impressive thing. If you hear that he was nice to
- 19:17some hazy case somewhere, you should be proud.
- 19:20If you find out that they gave charity and nobody knows about
- 19:24the charity, you'd be very proud.
- 19:26You find out that they said something nice and there was
- 19:29nobody else around, or they avoided a mistake, or they were
- 19:32not willing to cheat on a certain bill because they just
- 19:37wouldn't do something dishonest. Be very proud, that is.
- 19:39That means they became fully grounded and that's all of them
- 19:43ago. Alright, what's up with this?
