- 8:37[SPEAKER_15]: that I hear somebody texted me yesterday and said they heard the angry man on Glenn show.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_15]: I hope that's true.
- 8:42[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know if it is.
- 8:43[SPEAKER_15]: I didn't hear it.
- 8:44[SPEAKER_15]: But if it is true and you want to let me know, give me a call of 755-1240, put that 315 in front of it.
- 8:50[SPEAKER_15]: The weather is just heard.
- 8:52[SPEAKER_15]: It's going to get kind of, you know, we had this, this quick start to winter in which we got really cold.

- 9:06[SPEAKER_15]: will rise into the forties tomorrow may even hit 50 at some point tomorrow evening will get some rain and wind and i think that's going to clear up a lot of this can i call it the white stuff yes there you go so that's uh... kind of interesting uh... what else if we get going on congratulations to ken blanket bush is announcing his retirement this week and finish up his term and uh...
- 9:33[SPEAKER_15]: I understand his chief of staff, Tammy Navabana, because I don't know her, but I think I know her father and he's a nice guy, so I assume she's a nice person too, so I think she's going to run to replace him, so that'll be nice.
- 9:45[SPEAKER_15]: In the 117th, that's a district that goes from the outskirts of Messina, the outskirts of O'Night, that's kind of a long, meandering, a lot of nothing in between district, but we'll see what happens there.
- 10:03[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, what else we're getting?
- 10:07[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, I'm a city judge opening, you know, Americans to appoint somebody to that.
- 10:14[SPEAKER_15]: Wonder who it'll be?
- 10:15[SPEAKER_15]: Which lucky local lawyer will fill that spot for a, they call it part time, but it's really just a, you know, it's still a judge ship.
- 10:25[SPEAKER_15]: Um, what else is going on, angry man, we mentioned, oh,
- 10:30[SPEAKER_15]: Of course, a lot of talk about the right, right, Brian your thing on everywhere.
- 10:35[SPEAKER_15]: They call it a NEPO baby, Nick, Nick, Brian, yeah.
- 10:40[SPEAKER_15]: I can't remember exactly knew what that was.
- 10:41[SPEAKER_15]: Is that like a spoiled brat about it?
- 10:43[SPEAKER_15]: Some people call me a NEPO baby.
- 10:45[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know if that's a truth.
- 10:46[SPEAKER_15]: I don't even know what one is.
- 10:50[SPEAKER_15]: Other things in the news?
- 10:53[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, did you see that story?
- 10:55[SPEAKER_15]: It was on Channel 7 and in the Times.
- 10:59[SPEAKER_15]: Remember that song from 1987, the British band, living in a box?
- 11:03[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 11:04[SPEAKER_15]: Well, apparently they're putting students in a box up at the elementary school on the reservation.
- 11:09[SPEAKER_15]: It's part of the Sam and River school district.
- 11:11[SPEAKER_15]: So it is a public school district, but it's based in, oh, it's set place up, Fort Covington.
- 11:17[SPEAKER_15]: That's not on the rise, but that's where the district headquarters is.
- 11:21[SPEAKER_15]: And some parents are alleging they've done it on Facebook and it made the news.
- 11:25[SPEAKER_15]: This is the type of thing that could make the Daily Mail.
- 11:29[SPEAKER_15]: uh... this is the kind of north country type of thing that could easily make the daily mail or fox news or something but apparently they took uh... behaviorally challenged kids and put them in a it looks like a shipping crate a wooden shipping crate with padding inside and a hinge door you close at its dark inside that's supposed to come you down there's a picture of it yeah it's in the times and all it's all over was unfaiths book
- 11:58[SPEAKER_15]: That's kind of interesting, isn't it?
- 12:00[SPEAKER_15]: Well, you know, back in the day, you used to put us in a corner with a done set on.
- 12:06[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 12:08[SPEAKER_15]: But, uh, should they put a kid in a box like that?
- 12:12[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know.
- 12:12[SPEAKER_15]: I really don't know.
- 12:15[SPEAKER_15]: I'm not really qualified to say because I don't have children.
- 12:19[SPEAKER_15]: But if the professional educators say, I mean, I can't imagine you would put people a kid in a box without the superintendent knowing.
- 12:28[SPEAKER_15]: and so it must be okay then they put kids in boxes here in water town and i don't know there's something to think about lot of you carpenters out there contract usually could start making up those boxes uh... seven five five twelve forty is the phone number could like to give us a call to be on the show shows today
- 12:54[SPEAKER_15]: And, uh, we'll put you on here, talk about whatever you want within the balance of good taste.
- 12:58[SPEAKER_15]: No limits here.
- 13:00[SPEAKER_15]: No limits here.
- 13:01[SPEAKER_15]: We, um, I don't know what your plans are for the holidays, but you know, today's, well, Christmas only eight days away.
- 13:11[SPEAKER_15]: And people are starting to get out and about.
- 13:13[SPEAKER_15]: You're seeing that festive spirit start, not totally yet, but
- 13:17[SPEAKER_15]: Gradually saw a young lady today dressed as a snowman.
- 13:21[SPEAKER_15]: She had a little dress on with yeah, dressed like a snowman So snow person Yeah, but it was you know nice outfit.
- 13:31[SPEAKER_15]: I can't say a cute outfit.
- 13:32[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know and characterize anything But it was a season a lot of it season a very season
- 13:38[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, apparently at one of the local schools, it was snowman to everybody.
- 13:42[SPEAKER_15]: I did dress as a snowman, or a snow person, you know, we are very sensitive about gender here.
- 13:53[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, we all have to come up with our favorite pronouns today, and then Johnny's going to read him on the air, I think.
- 14:02[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, I don't know.
- 14:03[SPEAKER_15]: If the boss tells you, name your pronouns.
- 14:07[SPEAKER_15]: because we want to put it on the website or on the air.
- 14:09[SPEAKER_15]: What do you tell them?
- 14:10[SPEAKER_15]: I don't even know what that stuff means.
- 14:13[SPEAKER_15]: But I guess it's a... David Gore in some workplaces, so I don't know.
- 14:18[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know what to make of that.
- 14:19[SPEAKER_15]: 755, 1240, the phone number.
- 14:21[SPEAKER_15]: If you'd like to give us a call, I'll be on the show of show yesterday.
- 14:24[SPEAKER_15]: And we'll put you on to talk about whatever you want within the bounds of good taste.
- 14:30[SPEAKER_15]: Okay?
- 14:34[SPEAKER_15]: Oh boy.
- 14:37[SPEAKER_15]: Anything else that's on your mind?
- 14:40[SPEAKER_15]: No?
- 14:43[SPEAKER_15]: Nothing really on mind.
- 14:44[SPEAKER_15]: I guess the president's going to speak tonight.
- 14:46[SPEAKER_15]: You're going to listen.
- 14:47[SPEAKER_15]: I'm not sure I will.
- 14:50[SPEAKER_15]: Now he's going to be on it nine.
- 14:52[SPEAKER_15]: So that kind of preamps Hannity.
- 14:53[SPEAKER_15]: But I guess Hannity's going to anchor the coverage after it.
- 14:58[SPEAKER_15]: I don't care about hand.
- 15:00[SPEAKER_15]: Last night.
- 15:01[SPEAKER_15]: I was lying there and Hannity came up, but I switched it over to Katelyn Collins on CNN and I hate to say that.
- 15:07[SPEAKER_15]: That's a nice interview with Marjorie Taylor Greene, but I just tired of the whole Hannity thing.
- 15:14[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 15:16[SPEAKER_15]: Well, let's see, when else is going on, they haven't found that guy in Providence, Massachusetts, goodness gracious.
- 15:28[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know for all that, yeah.
- 15:30[SPEAKER_15]: cameras these days and then you know what was interesting and you won't hear too much about it in the mainstream media that there was a professor at MIT in the Boston area who was shot to death in his apartment this week and low and behold the professor is Jewish and you say well is that related you don't know these days with this craziness going around.
- 15:56[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah I mean unless it was like a
- 15:59[SPEAKER_15]: You know, lovers quarrel type thing, but I can't imagine just going into somebody's out of a professor is I was just blowing them away.
- 16:06[SPEAKER_15]: So that's kind of hasn't gotten a lot of publicity, but I think it kind of should.
- 16:10[SPEAKER_15]: There's something something about that.
- 16:13[SPEAKER_15]: And you don't really know what's going on.
- 16:17[SPEAKER_15]: What else have we got happen in here?
- 16:28[SPEAKER_15]: Well, let's see.
- 16:31[SPEAKER_15]: first to the food rolls being held in down under an Australia for the victims there that's terrible that is terrible now a lot of people i don't think that's a big deal i kind of think it is seven five five twelve forty the phone number if you'd like to uh... give us a call to be on the show shows today uh... let's see
- 16:59[SPEAKER_15]: Nobody's called in to explain what a NEPO baby is.
- 17:04[SPEAKER_15]: Hmm.
- 17:06[SPEAKER_15]: Maybe nobody knows.
- 17:08[SPEAKER_15]: And I'm trying to think of what else is in the news here.
- 17:11[SPEAKER_15]: It's not.
- 17:12[SPEAKER_15]: Well, isn't nothing much locally.
- 17:15[SPEAKER_15]: I thought the box story was something.
- 17:17[SPEAKER_15]: But I guess it's not.
- 17:18[SPEAKER_15]: I guess, you know, schools putting kids in a wooden box for discipline.
- 17:25[SPEAKER_15]: Is that?
- 17:27[SPEAKER_15]: the way it's done these days.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know.
- 17:29[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, I'm not in tune with today's education.
- 17:32[SPEAKER_15]: I'm not an educator, as they say.
- 17:33[SPEAKER_15]: Um, but yeah, I saw that.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_15]: It was in the times.
- 17:39[SPEAKER_15]: It was on Channel 7.
- 17:40[SPEAKER_15]: It was everywhere.
- 17:41[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 17:42[SPEAKER_15]: Facebook.
- 17:44[SPEAKER_15]: Oh.
- 17:47[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, Powerball's up there again.
- 17:50[SPEAKER_15]: Nobody hit on Monday.
- 17:51[SPEAKER_15]: So tonight's track spot.
- 17:54[SPEAKER_15]: Let's see.
- 17:56[SPEAKER_15]: I don't even read the 1.25 billion because that doesn't mean I think it's the commuted value after tax is 298 million here in New York.
- 18:04[SPEAKER_15]: That's what should get.
- 18:06[SPEAKER_15]: That's what should be EFT and over to David and Drive.
- 18:09[SPEAKER_15]: And yeah, somebody set a message in today.
- 18:22[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, let's see.
- 18:23[SPEAKER_15]: I can't repeat this as far as what a NEPO baby is that definition.
- 18:27[SPEAKER_15]: I can't.
- 18:28[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, happy birthday to Councilman, the lack of dog Osborne.
- 18:31[SPEAKER_15]: I didn't realize that.
- 18:32[SPEAKER_15]: Councilman, a lack of good to have you get a year older.
- 18:36[SPEAKER_15]: Looking forward.
- 18:37[SPEAKER_15]: I'm sure to have a couple of weeks from now when you'll be over there at City Hall.
- 18:43[SPEAKER_15]: Remember my advice.
- 18:44[SPEAKER_15]: Stay away from emails.
- 18:46[SPEAKER_15]: I God.
- 18:48[SPEAKER_15]: Don't forward any emails or respond to any or hit B.C.
- 18:52[SPEAKER_15]: or B.C.
- 18:53[SPEAKER_15]: or anything else.
- 18:55[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 18:59[SPEAKER_15]: Not a good idea too.
- 19:03[SPEAKER_15]: We don't want another ethics situation.
- 19:06[SPEAKER_15]: Look at how many thousands of emails the city attorney was forced to look through to.
- 19:12[SPEAKER_15]: So that these people could file this ethics charge now last month that went nowhere.
- 19:18[SPEAKER_15]: Bowsen, she said.
- 19:20[SPEAKER_15]: Imagine what's it cost to analyze each email?
- 19:25[SPEAKER_15]: Well, even if it was $10 an email, that's $30,000 right there.
- 19:31[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 19:33[SPEAKER_15]: We don't want to have to do that again.
- 19:35[SPEAKER_15]: We can't afford that.
- 19:38[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, we got bills to pay and everything.
- 19:43[SPEAKER_15]: So no more emailing.
- 19:46[SPEAKER_15]: It's over.
- 19:47[SPEAKER_15]: The era of emails should be over at City Hall.
- 19:52[SPEAKER_15]: If you have a question for the lawyer or the city manager, ask him or whoever at the council meeting or before the meeting or after it.
- 20:04[SPEAKER_15]: And don't be talking to any department heads out of turn or any employee.
- 20:10[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, you know, you just can't be doing that.
- 20:15[SPEAKER_15]: There's rules.
- 20:16[SPEAKER_15]: We got rules.
- 20:18[SPEAKER_15]: So we need a little more discipline to counsel and and I have to crack the whip there.
- 20:26[SPEAKER_15]: Okay.
- 20:27[SPEAKER_15]: We don't want to have to go through what we've gone through the last couple of years.
- 20:31[SPEAKER_15]: It's tough on the talk show.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_15]: It's true.
- 20:33[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, I want to have to keep track of all of this and read all of these things and all of that stuff.
- 20:43[SPEAKER_15]: And I don't read everything, if I'm on a blind carving, I don't read everything you think, yeah.
- 20:47[SPEAKER_15]: You know, I read some of it.
- 20:51[SPEAKER_15]: Uh, we did get a text.
- 20:52[SPEAKER_15]: I just got a text that the angry man called Glenn Show yesterday.
- 20:57[SPEAKER_15]: Well, our prayers are answered then, if he did.
- 21:00[SPEAKER_15]: That's a great thing.
- 21:01[SPEAKER_20]: Well, let's take time out right now and hopefully he'll call after this break.
- 21:11[SPEAKER_20]: get into it.
- 21:13[SPEAKER_20]: And you'll be amazed what you get out of it.
- 21:15[SPEAKER_29]: Need an appliance?
- 21:16[SPEAKER_29]: Watertown appliance has the North Country's largest selection of new and used inventory and have proudly served our community for over 50 years.

- 25:03[SPEAKER_15]: Thank you!
- 25:07[SPEAKER_15]: the white stuff melting.
- 25:10[SPEAKER_15]: I think it is, yeah.
- 25:12[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, see, the wind lines are closed.
- 25:14[SPEAKER_15]: It's like we're in one of those boxes up at the Mohawk Elementary School.
- 25:22[SPEAKER_15]: And I'm shocked that we haven't had a response to that.
- 25:26[SPEAKER_15]: I thought there'd be a parent out there on educator.
- 25:29[SPEAKER_15]: What are your educators think about it?
- 25:31[SPEAKER_15]: Put the kids in a box?
- 25:34[SPEAKER_15]: Should they?
- 25:36[SPEAKER_15]: I've, I don't know.
- 25:38[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, um, it's kind of different.
- 25:43[SPEAKER_15]: I never saw that before.
- 25:45[SPEAKER_15]: We've heard about litter boxes.
- 25:46[SPEAKER_15]: We've heard about all that.
- 25:49[SPEAKER_15]: But I've never heard anything about kids being put in a wooden crate and shutting the door.
- 25:59[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 26:04[SPEAKER_15]: do they do it down this way or is it just in the uh... native american schools now well i don't really know i don't know but whatever it is we're uh... we're ready for it uh...
- 26:33[SPEAKER_15]: Well, I was hoping to get that song, living in a box, but I don't know, not around, not available.
- 26:43[SPEAKER_15]: Okay, well, it's a good time.
- 26:44[SPEAKER_15]: Remember that 1980 saw that?
- 26:45[SPEAKER_15]: It's a strange song, strange name for a group, living in a box.
- 26:50[SPEAKER_15]: I think they were referring to a cardboard box, like a homeless person.
- 26:53[SPEAKER_15]: But you know, I was looking at that picture of that box in that classroom there, and I'm saying,
- 27:00[SPEAKER_15]: maybe the county could order a couple hundreds of those for the homeless if it's okay to put a kid in it couldn't you put a homeless person in it can you make it a little bit bigger.
- 27:09[SPEAKER_07]: Yeah.
- 27:12[SPEAKER_15]: It is padded inside.
- 27:14[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, so it's not a cruelty issue.
- 27:19[SPEAKER_15]: Um, now somebody texted what do you think of the next round of hydro consultants?
- 27:26[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know.
- 27:27[SPEAKER_15]: Who are they?
- 27:30[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, I think they're going to find that issue more vexing than they think.
- 27:37[SPEAKER_15]: If there is no easy answer, and they'll end up selling the plant and the water rates.
- 27:44[SPEAKER_15]: I'm trying to get some quick cash tied them over for a couple of three years.
- 27:51[SPEAKER_15]: I think that's going to be the end because there is no there's no magic solution to that.
- 27:56[SPEAKER_15]: You can hire all the consultants you want.
- 27:58[SPEAKER_15]: all these schemes for creating these little hydro companies and all that.
- 28:03[SPEAKER_15]: I don't see that happening.
- 28:06[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, if there's a magic solution fine, but I don't think there is one.
- 28:11[SPEAKER_15]: I think it is what it is.
- 28:14[SPEAKER_15]: It's like if you had a, you know, a discount on your, whatever bill for, and it was in effect for years when that discount's up,
- 28:27[SPEAKER_15]: Well, it's kind of like when you buy something, and they say there's no interest.
- 28:32[SPEAKER_15]: But if you don't pay it all off before the dating question, all that interest is back charge.
- 28:37[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, it's a kind of idea.
- 28:39[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, you're not going to, you know, people aren't going to just give up the utilities not going to sell.
- 28:44[SPEAKER_15]: Well, okay.
- 28:45[SPEAKER_15]: We'll keep charging you a fraction of what it's worth, not going to happen.
- 28:50[SPEAKER_15]: And it's a complicated thing to explain.
- 28:56[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, it's a day of reckoning, and the real reckoning that has to occur is there has to be a massive cost containment over the next two to three years, massive, and it's unfortunate, and less people are willing to pay.
- 29:16[SPEAKER_15]: No, unless you, you know, what is it that they'll get six million on a tax level of six or ten or eleven million?
- 29:27[SPEAKER_15]: probably a 50 to 60% tax increase.
- 29:31[SPEAKER_15]: And then you got a fact factor in the cost of buying electricity for city buildings, but you're looking at a 50 to 60% tax increase in one year just to handle that.
- 29:40[SPEAKER_15]: And that's not including all your other increases that are going on.
- 29:46[SPEAKER_15]: So that's where it's going to be.
- 29:47[SPEAKER_15]: Now they may spread that out over a year or two.
- 29:49[SPEAKER_15]: They got their little fun.
- 29:51[SPEAKER_15]: They may put a little money in or something.
- 29:53[SPEAKER_15]: But that's not a long-term solution.
- 29:56[SPEAKER_15]: So yeah, there's going to have to be a day of reckoning either substantially higher taxes or substantially less government.
- 30:04[SPEAKER_15]: That's the conundrum.
- 30:07[SPEAKER_15]: Now, I'm not saying that to be mean, not saying that to be a stripper or anything else, it'll be a pain in the butter, you know, anything like that, I'm just saying it because it's true.
- 30:20[SPEAKER_15]: And you'll hear all this talk about,
- 30:22[SPEAKER_15]: We're going to get a consultant and we're going to form this, you know, whatever entity and none of it's going to really mitigate the core problem.
- 30:34[SPEAKER_15]: And I don't know if the city overspends, if you look at what the city spends versus other governments, it's not that bad.
- 30:42[SPEAKER_15]: Um, I don't know, we'll see what the new council does, they'll get a chance to weigh in
- 30:53[SPEAKER_15]: when they're asked to vote on that bond issue or renovations to city hall.
- 31:00[SPEAKER_15]: So, there you go.
- 31:02[SPEAKER_15]: 755, 1240, the phone number, if you'd like to give us a call.
- 31:09[SPEAKER_15]: Let's see.
- 31:17[SPEAKER_15]: Nobody ever called in and said what a netbowl baby is.
- 31:23[SPEAKER_15]: Somebody checks it and maybe Jefferson County can bail out water.
- 31:26[SPEAKER_15]: No, that's not going to happen.
- 31:29[SPEAKER_15]: No, I mean, you're just going to have to pay higher taxes.
- 31:32[SPEAKER_15]: You're just going to have to get used to it.
- 31:36[SPEAKER_15]: So, where it is?
- 31:39[SPEAKER_15]: You know, and you can say, well, we can't do that.
- 31:46[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, you can.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_15]: You can.
- 31:49[SPEAKER_15]: That's going to be tough.
- 31:53[SPEAKER_15]: Some of these people were like $3,400,000 assessments.
- 31:56[SPEAKER_15]: They're paying like $9,000 a year in taxes.
- 31:59[SPEAKER_15]: And they're going to have to pay basically another five or six thousand a year.
- 32:05[SPEAKER_15]: So maybe they can't look good, can't be on the hockey team anymore, or any of that stuff.
- 32:09[SPEAKER_15]: Maybe they got to cut back.
- 32:15[SPEAKER_15]: But that's really, really what it's going to be.
- 32:18[SPEAKER_15]: We haven't had a call today, and what the deal is.
- 32:22[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, there's one.
- 32:23[SPEAKER_15]: Good afternoon, Ron.
- 32:24[SPEAKER_15]: On the air.
- 32:25[SPEAKER_22]: Good afternoon.
- 32:27[SPEAKER_22]: As you know, I'm more afraid here at Ryan.
- 32:30[SPEAKER_22]: Neppop AD is a neppotism.
- 32:35[SPEAKER_22]: So the person is a neppot.
- 32:38[SPEAKER_22]: Their father and mother has a privilege.
- 32:41[SPEAKER_22]: And they expect privilege.
- 32:43[SPEAKER_22]: So that's the blue stuff.
- 32:46[SPEAKER_15]: Oh, okay, well, I'm not a Napo baby, am I?
- 32:52[SPEAKER_15]: I can't be very good.
- 32:57[SPEAKER_15]: There we go.
- 32:58[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, am I a Napo baby?
- 33:03[SPEAKER_15]: I don't think so.
- 33:03[SPEAKER_15]: Am I?
- 33:07[SPEAKER_22]: I mean, people are waiting for you to publish your parents' privilege here.
- 33:12[SPEAKER_22]: You're expected to fall like a two parent, one two in my key things get into my key.
- 33:21[SPEAKER_22]: I think that's what that means.
- 33:26[SPEAKER_22]: I looked up one time, but why did someone call you in that little wall?
- 33:32[SPEAKER_15]: Somewhere online, yeah.
- 33:33[SPEAKER_15]: People insult me online all the time,
- 33:38[SPEAKER_22]: Um, no, I think that's a nephomeasy nepotism.
- 33:43[SPEAKER_15]: Okay.
- 33:44[UNKNOWN]: That's what that means.
- 33:45[SPEAKER_15]: All right.
- 33:47[UNKNOWN]: I'm sure she'll be calling this dude, but that's okay.
- 33:50[SPEAKER_15]: No, no, that sounds reasonable.
- 33:51[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 33:53[SPEAKER_15]: So anyway, um, what else is going on?
- 33:57[SPEAKER_22]: Well, Mary, I want to wish you and everybody Merry Christmas and, uh, we're having this heat wave, at least sure there's not much to do with today.
- 34:09[SPEAKER_15]: I got to check that forecast again.
- 34:11[SPEAKER_15]: I'm going to I'll check off the city council got any self-courses or small pools to build or buy or anything I don't see anything.
- 34:23[SPEAKER_15]: I'm sure they'll keep spending money, but I don't know on what Well, that's what they are.
- 34:31[UNKNOWN]: They think 1960 and we just got to keep spending like, well, we're
- 34:38[SPEAKER_15]: I know.
- 34:39[SPEAKER_15]: I know.
- 34:40[SPEAKER_15]: Hey, that weather forecast, you know, on the one I'm looking at, they're predicting it'll hit 53.
- 34:45[SPEAKER_15]: Wow.
- 34:47[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, by overnight Thursday and the Friday, then it cools off, but it's not a bad weekend.
- 34:58[SPEAKER_15]: High 35, both days and our Christmas forecast is cloudy and high if 32.
- 35:03[SPEAKER_15]: So I don't see anything bad happening
- 35:10[SPEAKER_15]: and uh... will leave it at that but it's high of forty one today forty seven tomorrow why do you know where you and everybody are very Christmas and happy to hear and uh... let's uh... keep the faith okay sounds good well thank you thank you i know but after dinner on the air good afternoon Jeff i couldn't agree with you more when you say uh... the day of reckoning uh... this is looming
- 35:38[SPEAKER_14]: with the hydrocontract and I'll take a couple of other things that disturb me about the financial situation in the city of Watertown.
- 35:46[SPEAKER_14]: One, the last year of the tax space was reduced by $9.2 million.
- 35:52[SPEAKER_14]: The hell of a decrease for a small city with a city that's population is decreasing at the same time as it's tax-based.
- 36:07[SPEAKER_14]: are non-taxable so it leaves more and more of the tax burden on fewer and fewer people and it's just I just don't think it's a good situation I want to just want to share that view keep up the good work there okay thank you yeah well that's it that's true of a lot of cities particularly small cities across upstate New York cities like
- 36:38[SPEAKER_15]: But, I don't know.
- 36:40[SPEAKER_15]: Somebody text it in, same old guy.
- 36:44[SPEAKER_15]: Same old guy, he calls in all the time.
- 36:47[SPEAKER_15]: What do you got to say?
- 36:48[SPEAKER_15]: Are you open on Christmas?
- 36:50[SPEAKER_15]: Yes.
- 36:51[SPEAKER_15]: We open the 8 a.m. on Christmas day actually on Thursday the 25th.
- 36:55[SPEAKER_15]: You open all day, we're open Christmas Eve too.
- 36:58[SPEAKER_15]: So, a lot of businesses are, so, that's a great thing.
- 37:05[SPEAKER_15]: Um, what other questions are there that you have?
- 37:14[SPEAKER_15]: Nothing.
- 37:14[SPEAKER_15]: Okay.
- 37:16[SPEAKER_15]: All righty.
- 37:17[SPEAKER_15]: Well, um, I'm kind of, you know, this sudden heat wave is going to be kind of shocking to the system here on it.
- 37:27[SPEAKER_17]: Good afternoon around the air.
- 37:35[SPEAKER_17]: should have more conversation on the Republican refuses to extend the subsidy on the ACA, the Affordable Care Act.
- 37:46[SPEAKER_17]: What they're offering is even a lot of Republicans in Congress, by the way, are opposed to that.
- 37:54[SPEAKER_17]: I wonder what the impact is going to be for people here in the North Country.
- 37:58[SPEAKER_17]: I suppose, I don't know if without any numbers, I think it's just, it's going to be very dramatic.
- 38:04[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah.
- 38:05[SPEAKER_15]: I don't know, and I'm not an expert in the Affordable Care Act, so I really, one would hope they get it settled down.
- 38:15[SPEAKER_15]: I'm not an expert in the Affordable Care Act, so I can't say.
- 38:18[SPEAKER_17]: Well, the Affordable Care Act, I mean, it's a subsidized for lower income people, people disabilities.
- 38:26[SPEAKER_17]: You can't deny a pre-existence.
- 38:29[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, I know that, but this wasn't supposed to happen when Obama implemented it.
- 38:35[SPEAKER_15]: This, this subsidy on the rates was put into effect at the time of the COVID thing as a temporary measure, and apparently it isn't because people got used to paying less.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_17]: Yeah.
- 38:47[SPEAKER_17]: Well, that's the whole point.
- 38:49[SPEAKER_17]: It's working from 20, 20 can is when he signed it into law, and, of course, re-colic in the court.
- 38:56[SPEAKER_17]: And I have four of the can.
- 38:57[SPEAKER_17]: about repealing it since then, since then, 72 times.
- 39:02[SPEAKER_17]: They voted, tried to get it canceled, killed it.
- 39:06[SPEAKER_17]: Remember John McCain won't go on the center, if we were going to get the thumbs down, that boy, that was his historical.
- 39:13[SPEAKER_18]: That was really, that was a brilliant thing on his strategy, but that's him.
- 39:19[SPEAKER_17]: But you know, I just wonder what the impact will be on people, because we are a little bit in come here again, a per se, as you know,
- 39:27[SPEAKER_17]: But in northern New York, it is just a low-income area.
- 39:31[SPEAKER_18]: Mm-hmm.
- 39:32[SPEAKER_11]: Well, I see what the Republicans have just set on their phones.
- 39:36[SPEAKER_17]: They're just not doing anything about, they say they are.
- 39:39[SPEAKER_17]: They're the President Trump said I have a concept of a plan.
- 39:42[SPEAKER_15]: Well, we can't.
- 39:44[SPEAKER_15]: Nothing can get past because of the culture rule in the Senate.
- 39:47[SPEAKER_15]: So it doesn't matter.
- 39:49[SPEAKER_17]: That's what I mean.
- 39:51[SPEAKER_17]: If the House has, if the election,
- 39:56[SPEAKER_17]: And so it can work out something where they say they have, but they're not even agreeing to a one-year extension.
- 40:01[SPEAKER_15]: And this is... Well, because there's an extension...
- 40:03[SPEAKER_17]: Listen... Twenty-two million people jack across the country are going to be impacted by this.
- 40:08[SPEAKER_15]: No, this is kind of like the Hydrocontract.
- 40:10[SPEAKER_15]: We can say we want to just extend it, but you're not dealing with the fact that it's crossing more money than you want to pay.
- 40:17[SPEAKER_15]: So you might as well just either pay it or just keep borrowing to pay it.
- 40:21[SPEAKER_15]: one way or the other by extending it is just barring money to pay it that's all you do and you're not solving anything well for the extension of the eight c.a.s.
- 40:32[SPEAKER_17]: just leave it in place right now it's the same rates and what have you the same provisions the same aspects of it to health care uh... it's the subsidy the medicare extension and pre-existing conditions all those things stay in place that's all they're saying the nice thing poor more money into it
- 40:48[SPEAKER_17]: They're saying extend the substance is urgent right now that are helping people and not hurting the 22 million 2 million people 20 million people will die Jeff Okay But they can't get care That's a fact All right I don't know why we're not talking about Jeff more here Now some people probably don't want to call in sale I'm full of it because the way I'm talking But those are facts Absolutely hard core facts Okay All right sounds good Hey It turns me and it should concern everybody else
- 41:18[SPEAKER_15]: Gotcha.
- 41:18[SPEAKER_15]: All right, thank you, Dan.
- 41:20[SPEAKER_15]: I'm out of it.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_15]: All righty.
- 41:21[SPEAKER_15]: Danny has spoken.

- 54:16[SPEAKER_15]: Good afternoon, Ryan here.
- 54:18[UNKNOWN]: Good afternoon.
- 54:19[UNKNOWN]: Now that Mr. Ragnar is back on board for another two years.
- 54:23[SPEAKER_15]: Do you think he's going to come back with a good budget in 2026?
- 54:29[SPEAKER_15]: You know, I have no idea.
- 54:32[SPEAKER_15]: I think the council has to tell them what they want.
- 54:38[SPEAKER_13]: For the last two years that hasn't happened though.
- 54:46[SPEAKER_13]: you should come back out with a budget with cuts, then that counsel can go through it line by line to see what they want, see what they can, you know, afford to get rid of it.
- 54:56[SPEAKER_15]: Well, that's it.
- 54:57[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, if you're paying for his professional expertise in deciding priorities, then you should be able to say, I want a zero increased budget.
- 55:08[SPEAKER_15]: And then if you want to restore items, you can do that.
- 55:12[SPEAKER_15]: But if he comes out with a budget that's status quo spending and 20% tax increase, the council will never cut anything.
- 55:21[SPEAKER_15]: Other than no cut, a pickup truck or a box of copy papers, something like that.
- 55:27[SPEAKER_13]: Well, you know yourself, you're a mayor for five terms.
- 55:31[SPEAKER_13]: Isn't this true that around budget time, you ask you departments to come up with a list of things that they want.
- 55:43[SPEAKER_13]: that the council can work with and get rid of that it really don't mean anything and really they don't they didn't want to begin with.
- 55:50[SPEAKER_15]: Well I don't know is that true.
- 55:51[SPEAKER_15]: I don't think we're buying.
- 55:53[UNKNOWN]: Seems every I've been doing a lot of budget sessions with though.
- 55:57[SPEAKER_13]: I got rid of this small item and this small item and this small item.
- 56:00[SPEAKER_13]: A lot of small items you know what that don't add up to anything all right?
- 56:05[SPEAKER_13]: Instead of you know what you know the percentage of the
- 56:11[SPEAKER_13]: Our labor, less and less not cut ourselves, all right?
- 56:14[SPEAKER_13]: I hate to say that, and I've set it all along, you're going to have to make adjustments, okay?
- 56:20[SPEAKER_18]: They won't make adjustments.
- 56:22[SPEAKER_18]: Mm-hmm.
- 56:22[UNKNOWN]: Just going to come back here after you're with tax increases.
- 56:25[UNKNOWN]: And I don't blame them 100 percent.
- 56:27[UNKNOWN]: I blame the city of Watertown residents for letting this go on.
- 56:31[SPEAKER_18]: Right.
- 56:32[UNKNOWN]: You saw the reporter turnout.
- 56:34[SPEAKER_13]: I mean, you've got a lot of people from the North Side to be a cop.
- 56:37[SPEAKER_13]: They want to change.
- 56:38[SPEAKER_13]: And the statistics they showed, nobody went up the home.
- 56:41[SPEAKER_13]: And it's all the power of folks around the south side.
- 56:45[SPEAKER_13]: So the people on the south side that want to increase spending, and then not all of them, but a majority of them are happy with what's going on.
- 56:54[SPEAKER_13]: You're not going to have to change unless somebody speaks up.
- 56:57[SPEAKER_13]: You can have the same people complaining all the time and making suggestions.
- 57:02[SPEAKER_13]: Somebody else has got to get up there and speak up.
- 57:06[SPEAKER_15]: I know, but I don't see that happening.
- 57:09[UNKNOWN]: No, I know.
- 57:09[UNKNOWN]: But what do you, what can we do to change that?
- 57:11[UNKNOWN]: That's what I'm saying.
- 57:12[UNKNOWN]: It's just, you can't think.
- 57:14[SPEAKER_13]: You're going to have to act increases.
- 57:16[SPEAKER_13]: Surgery and a role close to double digits, and that's the way it is.
- 57:19[SPEAKER_13]: No, that's not the way it is.
- 57:22[SPEAKER_18]: Mm-hmm.
- 57:23[SPEAKER_13]: You have the power to change things, but you just, you just don't want to change it.
- 57:28[SPEAKER_13]: Sit in that home, say, my boat isn't going to come, or if I go up there and say something that doesn't matter.
- 57:33[SPEAKER_13]: That's why they're doing what they're doing.
- 57:36[SPEAKER_13]: They're passing the policies they get in the way with because they're saying, well, nobody's complaining.
- 57:42[SPEAKER_13]: So I guess everybody's happy of what we're doing.
- 57:45[SPEAKER_15]: Well, it's a logical conclusion.
- 57:46[SPEAKER_15]: Yeah, so I don't know.
- 57:48[SPEAKER_18]: The case, that's not the case, or we're not here.
- 57:50[SPEAKER_18]: All right.
- 57:51[SPEAKER_15]: Well, okay, neighbor.
- 57:53[SPEAKER_15]: All right, I got another call.
- 57:54[SPEAKER_15]: I got her run.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_15]: Okay.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_15]: Thank you.
- 57:55[SPEAKER_15]: My name.
- 57:56[SPEAKER_15]: Good afternoon, you're on the air.
- 57:58[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah, I remember some air.
- 57:59[SPEAKER_16]: Yeah.
- 58:01[SPEAKER_16]: Oh.
- 58:02[SPEAKER_16]: I just agree with the court, you're greedy for staying over that Christmas.
- 58:08[SPEAKER_16]: I know a couple other borrowers to that Dr. Lowe's close friend tonight, as if I have the over that Christmas, they both in the same minute.
- 58:17[SPEAKER_16]: Some people don't have them, we round them, and they've been said, lonely, we have like family to them, and we stay open out of worry, okay?
- 58:27[SPEAKER_16]: Well, no, I think what it is is But it is an upset now.
- 58:36[SPEAKER_15]: It's not a question.
- 58:37[SPEAKER_16]: It's not great.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_15]: Right.
- 58:39[SPEAKER_15]: It's not sad people.
- 58:41[SPEAKER_15]: It's people who want to go out.
- 58:42[SPEAKER_15]: Maybe families do.
- 58:43[SPEAKER_15]: Maybe people with friends and meet you down there or something.
- 58:46[SPEAKER_15]: That's what it is.
- 58:47[SPEAKER_15]: I mean, people always go out on holidays.
- 58:48[SPEAKER_15]: It's what holidays are.
- 58:50[SPEAKER_16]: Everybody's off work.
- 58:55[SPEAKER_16]: But there are another people I know personally There are sad lonely souls yes Absolutely and the virus like the family You know Yeah, I know I get that too.
- 59:06[SPEAKER_15]: I mean there's you know people like to be out with other people And not everybody wants to sit home eating devil eggs and drinking egg nags all day That's Yes, well, and if they were the mine, it'd go out good for them too But Some people that's that's close to the
- 59:23[SPEAKER_15]: Okay, well, that sounds good.
- 59:24[SPEAKER_15]: Well, thank you.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_15]: Thank you.
- 59:26[SPEAKER_15]: All right.
