- 0:30Speaker 3: You can push up somebody who you feel is clearly
- 0:32Speaker 3: ahead of you, but if somebody that there's a level
- 0:35Speaker 3: of visibility and they next to you, you don't really
- 0:37Speaker 3: want to push them up. You see what I'm saying,
- 0:39Speaker 3: So like, for example, like we all get it. You
- 0:42Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, You gonna get it. You gonna
- 0:44Speaker 3: get it from other If another black mass start up
- 0:46Speaker 3: a financial podcast today, he's gonna be reluctant to give
- 0:49Speaker 3: you your props or say that you open up the door,
- 0:52Speaker 3: but he can give it the grand card on right away.
- 0:54Speaker 3: It's just it's just and what I learn specifically because
- 0:57Speaker 3: I'm big on like black psychology in a way in
- 1:00Speaker 3: which we think, right, So, like that's my biggest thing,
- 1:02Speaker 3: how we think, because in a restaurant space, you gotta
- 1:05Speaker 3: figure those things out. What make people go well? How
- 1:08Speaker 3: do you push and pull people on? What made people tick?
- 1:11Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:11Speaker 3: So it really it really makes a person question themselves
- 1:14Speaker 3: when we are doing well and we come from the
- 1:17Speaker 3: same circumstance like per person, like well, damn he got
- 1:19Speaker 3: out of jail just like me, and he a millionaire
- 1:23Speaker 3: or damn he was you know he was. He was
- 1:25Speaker 3: a financial analyst just like me. But he took the
- 1:28Speaker 3: the the the the adcourage and the ability that he
- 1:31Speaker 3: had and stepped out in the world and now he
- 1:33Speaker 3: made something of himself. And then I'm gonna tell you
- 1:35Speaker 3: what's so funny. They see you on Instagram, know you're
- 1:38Speaker 3: doing good, never say nothing, never comment, and they see
- 1:41Speaker 3: you in public like, yeah, I see you got full stores.
- 1:43Speaker 3: Yeah why didn't you like that?
- 1:48Speaker 4: Dude?
- 1:48Speaker 5: That is so crazy you said that because I've seen
- 1:50Speaker 5: somebody at our Bazu and he has a platform. He
- 1:53Speaker 5: was at our Ourvasu event and he was like, yo,
- 1:56Speaker 5: I'm a big fan of what you're doing.
- 1:57Speaker 4: Y'all killing it. I'm like, I appreciate it. Bro good looking.
- 2:00Speaker 5: He put our like our he put we was interviewing
- 2:03Speaker 5: DJ Kalen. Right, he took He took us DJ interviewing
- 2:08Speaker 5: DJ Kalen. Put it in his story and tag DJ Kalen.
- 2:12Speaker 5: But I'm like, you didn't tag us. It's our event.
- 2:15Speaker 5: DJ Kalen is our guest.
- 2:16Speaker 4: You can't show I love that subconsciously somebody.
- 2:23Speaker 3: We have no problem showing.
- 2:25Speaker 5: Love because it might help us get to the stars
- 2:29Speaker 5: the same level of us, or somebody the same level
- 2:32Speaker 5: of us by by the pushing it down because we
- 2:36Speaker 5: look at it it's competition.
- 2:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 2:39Speaker 5: No, the person in the stars don't really care nothing
- 2:42Speaker 5: about you. He's not gonna help you.
- 2:43Speaker 3: The person I can put the.
- 2:46Speaker 5: Person that can actually help you get to the stars.
- 2:48Speaker 5: It is the same person that you ignore because I
- 2:50Speaker 5: guarantee you, if Spike Lee or if any of these
- 2:52Speaker 5: big time movie producers did a did a real for somebody,
- 2:55Speaker 5: they're gonna tag Spike Lee. They're gonna I'm like, why
- 2:58Speaker 5: would How would I'm not tag my videographer when they're
- 3:02Speaker 5: doing good work, they're good people. It's like, would I
- 3:06Speaker 5: not tag Spike Lee? I would tag Spike Lee because
- 3:08Speaker 5: of the clout right It's like Spike Lee did the
- 3:10Speaker 5: video for me. That's clout right there, But he's all
- 3:13Speaker 5: really even a black and white thing. It's more of
- 3:16Speaker 5: a small minded.
- 3:18Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 3:20Speaker 5: How we actually view people on the same level of us,
- 3:23Speaker 5: and we're so critical and were so you know, thankful
- 3:28Speaker 5: that you know somebody else to do something for us
- 3:29Speaker 5: on a higher level. When somebody does something force on
- 3:31Speaker 5: the same level, we're like, naw, they can.
- 3:33Speaker 4: Only be one. I'm getting to the top. Get it
- 3:35Speaker 4: on your own.
- 3:36Speaker 5: I don't want nobody else to find out about you
- 3:38Speaker 5: because if they find out about it, they can start
- 3:41Speaker 5: using you. That's a problem too. Like that what I'm saying,
- 3:43Speaker 5: like we want everything to be exclusive to us.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, I totally agree with you, man, Like
- 3:48Speaker 3: I've been in spaces where not only word they recognize you,
- 3:52Speaker 3: they'll take your whole swag and drop your whole swag
- 3:56Speaker 3: in their system and don't even acknowledge that. So, like example,
- 4:00Speaker 3: I've had people come to me like, look, I want
- 4:02Speaker 3: you to mentor me with a restaurant so that I
- 4:04Speaker 3: can go do my own restaurant. And I'm like, man, look,
- 4:07Speaker 3: you're not ready for a restaurant. Wann't you come work
- 4:08Speaker 3: with me? Well, I don't believe in working for nobody.
- 4:11Speaker 3: But at the same token, you willing to come up
- 4:13Speaker 3: under me, get everything I got you that still work
- 4:16Speaker 3: for me, because then I'm gonna give you everything I
- 4:18Speaker 3: really got you. See what I'm saying. I think that
- 4:21Speaker 3: we just don't believe in giving ourselves that equal level
- 4:25Speaker 3: of visibility. And like, the only thing that's gonna tear
- 4:28Speaker 3: that down is not it's not gonna be products and service.
- 4:31Speaker 3: It's gonna be some real deep in channel work. It's
- 4:34Speaker 3: the deep in channel work. Like for me, like I
- 4:36Speaker 3: really pride myself, my number one thing is relationships. It's
- 4:39Speaker 3: not the it's not the assets, it's not the cash flow,
- 4:42Speaker 3: it's the relationships and stand solid because once I keep
- 4:45Speaker 3: the relationships and stand solid, no matter how much the
- 4:48Speaker 3: world changed, that shit is always in style, you see
- 4:52Speaker 3: what I'm saying. So like in the NFT world, there's
- 4:54Speaker 3: a bunch of fake stuff out there, in the metaverse
- 4:56Speaker 3: world and in the real estate world, is a bunch
- 4:59Speaker 3: of I find it out there, right, So as long
- 5:02Speaker 3: as you stay true and you stay solid, I've got
- 5:05Speaker 3: all my opportunities from that. I mean, like the opportunity
- 5:07Speaker 3: with Fernando and Taquana came from who I was, not
- 5:10Speaker 3: what I was doing, not how popular I was. You
- 5:14Speaker 3: see what I'm saying. So like if you look at
- 5:15Speaker 3: the attraction on my page, like I see a lot
- 5:17Speaker 3: of controversial stuff, so I don't get a lot of traction,
- 5:20Speaker 3: but I get a lot of real deep support, so
- 5:23Speaker 3: I'll never forget. Like a dude told me he was
- 5:26Speaker 3: like an id. By the way, is his name? Since
- 5:28Speaker 3: we talk to everybody else, right, I d told me
- 5:30Speaker 3: he said, he said, Doug, what would you do if
- 5:32Speaker 3: you went broke? I said, I'll bootstrap it and get
- 5:35Speaker 3: it again. He said I wouldn't. I called my friends.
- 5:39Speaker 3: And that showed the importance of relationships and the difference
- 5:41Speaker 3: between the mindset of me having impoverished mindset or work
- 5:44Speaker 3: work work work work work work label labor labor labor labor.
- 5:48Speaker 3: But they don't know that. When they acknowledge you, it
- 5:49Speaker 3: create opportunities like the things that I say behind your
- 5:53Speaker 3: back create opportunities for me moving forward with you in
- 5:55Speaker 3: the future. And I think people kind of so yeah,
- 5:58Speaker 3: they so caught up. They made you don't know those
- 6:00Speaker 3: right of things like you say, and now you chase
- 6:02Speaker 3: the look and then a look don't work out and
- 6:05Speaker 3: now you look crazy, and now how do you pivot
- 6:08Speaker 3: from there? So, like me, coming from the background that
- 6:11Speaker 3: I come from, I always believe that a certain mold
- 6:14Speaker 3: fabric and recognition is the number one thing that you
- 6:17Speaker 3: really want to you want to invest in. You know
- 6:19Speaker 3: what I'm saying, you vest of recognition, you could get
- 6:21Speaker 3: on I mean DJ callor got rich off of recognizing people.
- 6:25Speaker 3: That is a yo.
- 6:26Speaker 5: I'm so this is why, this is why I love
- 6:28Speaker 5: talking to you, because it's like I feel like, you know,
- 6:31Speaker 5: certain people just connect men. I just connected with you
- 6:33Speaker 5: because I just feel like, you know, we come from
- 6:35Speaker 5: a different era first and foremost, and I just I
- 6:38Speaker 5: know I understand the upbringer. I understand like the more
- 6:41Speaker 5: fabric it's like cut from cloth that is discontinued. The
- 6:45Speaker 5: cloth has been discontinued ten years ago, like you know
- 6:47Speaker 5: what I'm saying, Like it's not and it's like ninety
- 6:50Speaker 5: nine percent of people on social media, Like I just
- 6:53Speaker 5: can't vib with like that because I got like, we
- 6:55Speaker 5: didn't come in the markets. We had to learn about
- 6:58Speaker 5: marketing on social media. We didn't get any came in
- 7:02Speaker 5: as really organic people teaching financial literacy in the classroom.
- 7:05Speaker 4: We didn't know how to turn it into a business.
- 7:06Speaker 5: We had to learn about click funnels, we had to
- 7:08Speaker 5: learn about Facebook ads and all of that stuff. Some
- 7:11Speaker 5: people came in on that, and it's no disrespect to that,
- 7:13Speaker 5: that's dope. But I'm just saying, which is different, right,
- 7:16Speaker 5: Our mindset is always different.
- 7:18Speaker 4: Thinking about that actually happens to us all the time.
- 7:21Speaker 5: Like I've done stuff for people, like people ask me like, yo,
- 7:23Speaker 5: I want to get this person on my show.
- 7:25Speaker 4: I want to interview this person with my dream person.
- 7:26Speaker 5: I'm like jumping through hula hoops to get this person
- 7:28Speaker 5: to interview and the person won't even say thank you.
- 7:32Speaker 5: And it's like, at the end of the day, I'm
- 7:34Speaker 5: not even gonna say that, I'll never do nothing for
- 7:36Speaker 5: you up again, because it's like, at the end of
- 7:38Speaker 5: the day, you you leverage somebody when you need them,
- 7:43Speaker 5: then once you get it, you act like the person.
- 7:45Speaker 5: And that's why it's like, if you ever look at
- 7:47Speaker 5: any post that we do, anytime somebody set something up
- 7:50Speaker 5: for us, I think the person in the post, Like
- 7:51Speaker 5: when we got Dan Dash Kenny Burn set that up
- 7:54Speaker 5: for me. I made sure I thanked him in the post.
- 7:56Speaker 5: He might have cared about it, he might not have
- 7:58Speaker 5: cared about it, but that's not up to me. I
- 8:00Speaker 5: feel like how we was raised, how we was brought up.
- 8:02Speaker 5: If anybody ever does, you don't act like you did
- 8:05Speaker 5: it on yourself. You give credit to the person that
- 8:08Speaker 5: has done something for you, and like you said, recognition,
- 8:11Speaker 5: you'd be surprised by doing that. That has what That's
- 8:14Speaker 5: what propelled ear your legion. This is why we are
- 8:16Speaker 5: where we are top because of relationship. Always said thank you,
- 8:19Speaker 5: We always included people. You always showed love, Like you
- 8:23Speaker 5: know what I'm saying. We never act like, oh, this
- 8:25Speaker 5: all just happened by mystery. Everything was done by a relationship.
- 8:29Speaker 5: One person builds a relationship to another person, And you'd
- 8:31Speaker 5: be surprised how enthusiastic people will be to open doors
- 8:34Speaker 5: for you just by saying thank you, just by acknowledging
- 8:38Speaker 5: them publicly.
- 8:39Speaker 3: People figure that is soden.
- 8:41Speaker 5: You look at everybody on Instagram's page, they never say
- 8:44Speaker 5: thank you, They never tagged nobody, everybody. You would literally
- 8:49Speaker 5: think that every single person itself made because no, they're
- 8:51Speaker 5: not thinking nobody.
- 8:52Speaker 3: Yeah no, they're not thinking nobody. And even courting a
- 8:55Speaker 3: document in any of the difficult processes, like they don't.
- 8:59Speaker 3: So it's like all PG king, it's just all a
- 9:02Speaker 3: finished product. But that's not real, you know, and you know,
- 9:05Speaker 3: and and and the funny thing about it is, like
- 9:07Speaker 3: you know, I always tell people, like, you know, you
- 9:10Speaker 3: gotta be authentic. That's what really separates y'all from everybody else.
- 9:13Speaker 3: You know, will really separate you from everybody else is
- 9:15Speaker 3: the fact that you can interview Mark Cuban, but I
- 9:18Speaker 3: could call you like you know, some some people will
- 9:21Speaker 3: block you. Oh no, that's it. I don't never want
- 9:24Speaker 3: to talk to you know what I mean, because like
- 9:26Speaker 3: it's never it was never real, you know what I'm saying.
- 9:29Speaker 3: So like I tell my staff, I say, bro, I'm
- 9:32Speaker 3: gonna always have blessings. Just off. Look, my biggest commodity
- 9:35Speaker 3: is not the restaurant. It's I'm real. I'm gonna tell
- 9:39Speaker 3: you the truth wherever you like it or not. You
- 9:41Speaker 3: know what I'm saying, I'm gonna give you everything I got.
- 9:44Speaker 3: I always believe in a pouring people, pouring into people
- 9:46Speaker 3: and giving them everything I got. So when we speak
- 9:49Speaker 3: of support this morning, it had such a deep undertone.
- 9:52Speaker 3: It get it's so much bigger than like, how can
- 9:54Speaker 3: I buy a product? It's how can I tag a person?
- 9:57Speaker 3: How can I see an entrepreneur that looked like me
- 10:00Speaker 3: and put some money into that project? How can I
- 10:03Speaker 3: open up a door for a person that our door
- 10:06Speaker 3: might I might not even be interested in, but I
- 10:08Speaker 3: know I can get that door open for that person, right,
- 10:10Speaker 3: Because that's the true way to success as a group.
- 10:15Speaker 3: The only way to success is a group is unity
- 10:17Speaker 3: and recognition, sticking together. I never forget. I've read a
- 10:21Speaker 3: book called The Seventh Happy by seven Covey, and he
- 10:23Speaker 3: spoke on the intangibles, right, how principles went forever, Integrity, loyalty, honesty,
- 10:28Speaker 3: being kind coming through. Like you got to realize, like
- 10:31Speaker 3: when you put the mataverse, God goes down, you want
- 10:33Speaker 3: to talk to somebody as well. You wanna talk to
- 10:36Speaker 3: somebody that's gonna really come through for you. And I
- 10:39Speaker 3: think like it's so crazy, how like so much of
- 10:42Speaker 3: the internet has taken over our world, where like that
- 10:44Speaker 3: matters most so like how they were saying, like if
- 10:46Speaker 3: it didn't happen on Instagram, it didn't happen a lot
- 10:49Speaker 3: of the molds and the values that the younger people
- 10:52Speaker 3: have are so far away from where we came up.
- 10:55Speaker 3: And I think you know what worries me moving forward
- 10:58Speaker 3: is they think the more superficial they are, the faster
- 11:00Speaker 3: they'll come up. And you know what we do. We
- 11:02Speaker 3: use anomalies as examples, and that's not the truth. You'll
- 11:06Speaker 3: use the one person who wi on TikTok, who will
- 11:08Speaker 3: make twenty million dollars a year with twenty three And
- 11:10Speaker 3: now you think you're gonna get that, Calvin, Come on, Calvin,
- 11:14Speaker 3: that's not your life. Make yo snap out of it.
- 11:16Speaker 3: To be real with yourself, be real with your people.
- 11:18Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying, so support it's being real,
- 11:21Speaker 3: it's being authentic, it's being constructive. Like I walk into
- 11:24Speaker 3: spaces right where people have had restaurants and I haven't
- 11:27Speaker 3: gotten a service I want, but I'd like the product,
- 11:30Speaker 3: and I might reach out to the entrepreneur saying, man Hey,
- 11:32Speaker 3: if you ever need help with some service, I got
- 11:34Speaker 3: a service handbook down here that might can help you out.
- 11:37Speaker 3: And by the way, I really did like the juice,
- 11:40Speaker 3: you know what I'm saying. So those things really help
- 11:43Speaker 3: us propel forward. And I think, yo, they we look
- 11:45Speaker 3: up for finished products, so like we can pare ourselves
- 11:48Speaker 3: to these large institutions and they'll be like, well, you
- 11:51Speaker 3: know when I went to ie Hop, I got my
- 11:52Speaker 3: food in ten minutes, Like I Hop is a machine
- 11:54Speaker 3: at this point, and they don't care nothing about you know,
- 11:57Speaker 3: are they connected to you?
- 11:58Speaker 1: So?
- 11:58Speaker 3: Do you get the vibe you get here from our una? Na,
- 12:00Speaker 3: don't get the vibe? Sit down there, wait thirty minutes
- 12:04Speaker 3: the walk from coming out. You know what I'm saying, Like,
- 12:07Speaker 3: we just we have to be patient with our entrepreneurs.
- 12:10Speaker 3: You know, even when I've seen the way y'all have grown,
- 12:13Speaker 3: It's so crazy how many people think they could come
- 12:15Speaker 3: behind you and like, well, I'm gonna start a podcast.
- 12:18Speaker 3: What makes you think you could do that? I say,
- 12:20Speaker 3: Rashall and Troy did it. They only been doing it
- 12:22Speaker 3: for three years. Bro, They authentically well, they've been best
- 12:25Speaker 3: friends for twenty years. They got a chemistry that got
- 12:27Speaker 3: twenty years to it. They got hard work and dedication
- 12:30Speaker 3: that go back twenty years. They've been teaching for twenty years.
- 12:34Speaker 3: It don't even matter what you've been teaching. Just being
- 12:36Speaker 3: in an education feel alone, gives you an innate quality
- 12:39Speaker 3: to teach people Like curated dialogue, curated conversation. Those things
- 12:43Speaker 3: are real or real tangible qualities and intangible qualities of y'all.
- 12:47Speaker 3: Because after everybody, don't got so like support me to get.
- 12:50Speaker 5: A little bit deeper and also talk about like enduring
- 12:55Speaker 5: failures because it's like you said something that was very
- 12:58Speaker 5: key too. Apple loyal Apple supporter. I get all the iPhones,
- 13:02Speaker 5: we talked stock all the time. Apple their phones break
- 13:05Speaker 5: all the time, like I had. I think they're actually
- 13:07Speaker 5: doing it on purpose. Like and it's like that's never
- 13:10Speaker 5: discouraged me from buying Apple products. It's never has never has,
- 13:15Speaker 5: you know what I'm saying, Like, Nah, I have all
- 13:17Speaker 5: kinds of issues with Apple, but I'm still gonna buy Apple, right, Yeah,
- 13:21Speaker 5: we brought into the product. It's not one thing goes
- 13:25Speaker 5: wrong with a small business. Not only do we not
- 13:28Speaker 5: support them, we go rand, we bad ship. We put
- 13:32Speaker 5: out a whole thing, a whole smear campaign against them,
- 13:35Speaker 5: and it's like.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Ridiculous, yeah, because the relationship start off with one of
- 13:42Speaker 3: the title man. Right. So like, for example, like if
- 13:45Speaker 3: I remember when we were young, right saying, you might
- 13:47Speaker 3: go on a date and your homee gas together and
- 13:50Speaker 3: your mind on the way that you think, and she
- 13:52Speaker 3: better be everything you said. You know what I'm saying,
- 13:56Speaker 3: So like specifically for me, because I hold myself and
- 13:59Speaker 3: my business to a higher standing as you do yourself. Right.
- 14:01Speaker 3: So it's like they watching a podcast, We're like, yeah,
- 14:04Speaker 3: you said it was so great, so I swear let
- 14:07Speaker 3: one thing be off. You know what I'm saying, yo.
- 14:11Speaker 3: But we've been like that with our people since the beginning,
- 14:15Speaker 3: and you know, being from New York and you know,
- 14:18Speaker 3: dealing with that type of pressure growing up, Yo, we
- 14:21Speaker 3: put out at such a high stage. Like if you
- 14:24Speaker 3: take black people individually, see what they do is they
- 14:26Speaker 3: take the individual black person, right, and they group them
- 14:29Speaker 3: with a group of rich white people, and that's the
- 14:31Speaker 3: only way you can meet with him. You never say like,
- 14:34Speaker 3: oh well, now let me just go individual for individual.
- 14:36Speaker 3: So I always tell people, you don't work for brands,
- 14:39Speaker 3: you work for people, right, so people will leave me
- 14:41Speaker 3: and they'll be like, well, dare I'm gonna leave him
- 14:43Speaker 3: and go get a job at the four seasons. I'll
- 14:44Speaker 3: be like, well, how much do your your boss make
- 14:46Speaker 3: at the four seasons? Or you make like ninety? Well
- 14:49Speaker 3: I make like nine hundred. So what make you feel?
- 14:52Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying? What makes you feel He's
- 14:54Speaker 3: gonna get you there and faster and I'm gonna get
- 14:56Speaker 3: you there. But they don't got that patience with me,
- 14:59Speaker 3: so they me and it's automatically a space of I
- 15:02Speaker 3: don't got no pations for you. I'm holding you to
- 15:05Speaker 3: to twenty times the higher standard than I hold anyone else.
- 15:08Speaker 3: And I think we as black consumers and supporters have
- 15:11Speaker 3: to know we're not buying black products to criticize them.
- 15:18Speaker 3: We're not blind. We're not buying black services to criticize them.
- 15:21Speaker 3: We're buying those things because we believe in those companies.
- 15:23Speaker 3: We believe in those people, and we want to give
- 15:26Speaker 3: them a chance by stimulating their economic growth, by giving
- 15:30Speaker 3: them constructive criticism that can help them build. Listen, business
- 15:34Speaker 3: is not a tear down situation. It's a building up,
- 15:37Speaker 3: brick by brick situation. Right, so let's take us right.
- 15:40Speaker 3: We all know our backgrounds. I'm pissed poor. I grew
- 15:43Speaker 3: up poor.
- 15:43Speaker 4: Bro.
- 15:44Speaker 3: If you black and you in America, you're probably not
- 15:46Speaker 3: an aristocrat. Even JAYD said it. His mother and dad
- 15:49Speaker 3: ain't had nothing, so that everything came with him. Right.
- 15:52Speaker 3: So now once you understand, like yo, if they grew
- 15:54Speaker 3: up poor, they first generation such and such. So if
- 15:57Speaker 3: they first generation such and such, they're gonna have the
- 15:59Speaker 3: most prier, the most frustrations, They're gonna deal with the
- 16:03Speaker 3: most obstacles when they come to growing. So like I study,
- 16:05Speaker 3: right and I watched I watched the Agnelly family right,
- 16:08Speaker 3: and I saw Howard Street generations, and I saw the
- 16:11Speaker 3: first ag Nelly. He's the founder. He's the person who
- 16:14Speaker 3: gonna deal with all the roadblocks, all the obstacles. The
- 16:17Speaker 3: second generation is meant to maintain it and now push
- 16:20Speaker 3: it forward. The third generation only aristocrats. So I used
- 16:25Speaker 3: to have a mindset like y're gonna live like an aristocrat.
- 16:28Speaker 3: I'm I wanna have bots, I wanna have Yes, I
- 16:30Speaker 3: want to have all these things, but I don't have
- 16:31Speaker 3: the foundation to wish to build it. The pump. So
- 16:33Speaker 3: the only thing I encourage my people to understand is like, yo,
- 16:36Speaker 3: if we first generation anything, the things you need to
- 16:39Speaker 3: have most is patients understanding and be willing to build
- 16:42Speaker 3: with me. So do you want to buy my product
- 16:44Speaker 3: to criticize me? Or are you trying to build this
- 16:46Speaker 3: brand with me? And you should enjoy my journey. You
- 16:50Speaker 3: should enjoy my struggles. You should want to see how
- 16:52Speaker 3: far I came. Because your nephew that's getting out of jail, Yeah,
- 16:56Speaker 3: you gonna have some expectations for him, and now you
- 16:58Speaker 3: can point to me. You can't point, but pat you
- 17:02Speaker 3: can't point to him, So like you gotta realize that, Yo,
- 17:05Speaker 3: Derek Falcon is the way I'm your uncle, I'm your nephew.
- 17:09Speaker 3: I'm your badass cousin that never could get it together.
- 17:11Speaker 3: So you want to have the most level of patience
- 17:13Speaker 3: with myself and understand like, well, okay, what phase are
- 17:16Speaker 3: you in your business? What does your growth potential look like?
- 17:19Speaker 3: And how can I contribute? And that doesn't always even
- 17:21Speaker 3: mean buying a product. It could just mean Yo, I'm
- 17:24Speaker 3: ana come and I'm gonna consult. I'm a CPA. I
- 17:25Speaker 3: know a black CPA that came to my business and
- 17:28Speaker 3: she helped me out. I know black developers that taught me,
- 17:31Speaker 3: that gave me leads on construction and gave me leads
- 17:33Speaker 3: on real estate. I know black real estate agents that
- 17:36Speaker 3: have taught me like, look, you should buy in this
- 17:38Speaker 3: area because this area is gonna come up. Yo. We
- 17:40Speaker 3: all building together until we able to understand that, like
- 17:43Speaker 3: buying that shampoor is nothing, it's nothing. That's just that's
- 17:46Speaker 3: just that's the baseline for how you support a black brand.
- 17:50Speaker 3: But understanding who that entrepreneur is behind that company and
- 17:54Speaker 3: digging a little bit deeper and seeing how you can
- 17:55Speaker 3: contribute on a social status to and a social contribution
- 17:59Speaker 3: is the best thing.
- 18:01Speaker 4: That's the fact, man, that's the fact I want. I
- 18:05Speaker 4: always love. We got to bring you back actually for.
- 18:09Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, I got it, double back right, the double back.
- 18:12Speaker 5: But let me yeah cars, expansion, let's talk about from
- 18:15Speaker 5: black business standpoint, expansion, because that's not something that's you
- 18:18Speaker 5: talked about that in the podcast too. That's something that
- 18:21Speaker 5: ninety nine percent of black businesses are small businesses. The
- 18:25Speaker 5: problem with small businesses that they just stay small businesses.
- 18:28Speaker 5: So expansion, working together, you know, thinking on a bigger scale.
- 18:32Speaker 5: And that's another something that you've been big on as
- 18:33Speaker 5: far as you know, expanding to New York, the different
- 18:36Speaker 5: parts of of the country.
- 18:37Speaker 4: So talk about expansion for black businesses.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Oh wow, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah yeah. All right,
- 18:44Speaker 3: So no, because like you said you posted the other day.
- 18:51Speaker 3: You know, I'm a big fan of the podcast. You
- 18:53Speaker 3: said ninety percent of black business that's so propriet right,
- 18:56Speaker 3: and for you to expand specifically in my space, it's
- 19:01Speaker 3: very contingent upon people, right, So you can only grow
- 19:04Speaker 3: as fast as the people that you're willing to build
- 19:06Speaker 3: and develop. The fastest way that we can explain is
- 19:10Speaker 3: experience black people is to invest our time and our
- 19:14Speaker 3: labor into one another. You know, I think the biggest
- 19:18Speaker 3: compliment you could give a person is your time. So,
- 19:21Speaker 3: like specifically, when it came to my expansion, I knew
- 19:27Speaker 3: that it couldn't just start and start with me. I
- 19:30Speaker 3: knew that it was bigger than me. I knew that
- 19:32Speaker 3: there was people behind me that deserved the opportunity. I
- 19:35Speaker 3: don't have any kids, but I wanted to position myself
- 19:39Speaker 3: to leave my business to a black person that was
- 19:41Speaker 3: best fit to push it forward. And I felt like
- 19:45Speaker 3: I would be selfish if I just was like, we
- 19:47Speaker 3: got a lot of solopreneurs. We got a lot of
- 19:48Speaker 3: people who just got the hairs of law. She let,
- 19:50Speaker 3: she got the g waggon, she got the you know,
- 19:53Speaker 3: the thousand dollars hairstyle. We got a lot of guys who,
- 19:56Speaker 3: you know, he's just he's just got the show, or
- 19:58Speaker 3: you know, he's just the attorney and he got the
- 20:01Speaker 3: sered song with the briefcase. And we don't really talent
- 20:04Speaker 3: each other anything, right, So that was never my tone.
- 20:07Speaker 3: The social narrative for me was always build something of substance,
- 20:11Speaker 3: build something that was substantial, and pass it back right.
- 20:14Speaker 3: And I always tell people I never did it for myself.
- 20:19Speaker 3: I did it for other people. So when it comes
- 20:21Speaker 3: to expansion, I think that's the most important thing we
- 20:24Speaker 3: can do in the business world to create wealth. And
- 20:26Speaker 3: for me, expansion was extremely difficult because now you gotta
- 20:29Speaker 3: deal with consistency issues, you gotta deal with you're stressing
- 20:32Speaker 3: your team. So when you expand and you're stressing your team,
- 20:36Speaker 3: you're going through a lot of grown pains and it's
- 20:38Speaker 3: very difficult. And I had to be a dog, like
- 20:41Speaker 3: if I wasn't from the streets, we wouldn't expand.
- 20:44Speaker 6: It ernest what's up? You ever walk into a small
- 20:48Speaker 6: business and everything just works, like the checkout is fast
- 20:51Speaker 6: or seats of digital tipping is a breeze and you're

- 21:56Speaker 6: P and C Bank, a lot of people think podcasts
- 21:58Speaker 6: about work are boring, and sure they definitely can be,
- 22:02Speaker 6: But understanding a professionals routine shows us how they achieve
- 22:05Speaker 6: their success little by little, day after day. It's like
- 22:10Speaker 6: banking with P and C Bank. It might seem boring
- 22:13Speaker 6: to save, plan and make calculated decisions with your bank,
- 22:16Speaker 6: but keeping your money boring is what helps you live
- 22:18Speaker 6: a more happily fulfilled life. P and C Bank Brilliantly
- 22:23Speaker 6: Boring since eighteen sixty five. Brilliantly Boring since eighteen sixty
- 22:27Speaker 6: five is a service mark of the PNC Financial Service Group, Inc.
- 22:31Speaker 6: P and C Bank National Association Member FDIC.
- 22:36Speaker 7: An illegal alien from Guatemala charged with raping a child
- 22:40Speaker 7: in Massachusetts. An MS thirteen gang member from El Salvador
- 22:44Speaker 7: accused of murdering a Texas. Man of Venezuelan charged with
- 22:48Speaker 7: filming and selling child pornography in Michigan. These are just
- 22:52Speaker 7: some of the heinous migrant criminals caught because of President
- 22:56Speaker 7: Donald J. Trump's leadership. I'm Christine Noman, the United States
- 22:59Speaker 7: Atary of Homeland Security. Under President Trump, attempted illegal border
- 23:04Speaker 7: crossings are at the lowest levels ever recorded, and over
- 23:08Speaker 7: one hundred thousand illegal aliens have been arrested. If you
- 23:11Speaker 7: were here illegally, you're next. You will be fine nearly
- 23:15Speaker 7: one thousand dollars a day, imprisoned and deported. You will
- 23:19Speaker 7: never return. But if you register using our CBP home
- 23:23Speaker 7: app and leave now, you could be allowed to return legally.
- 23:27Speaker 7: Do what's right. Leave now. Under President Trump America's laws,
- 23:31Speaker 7: border and families.
- 23:33Speaker 8: Will be protected sponsored by the United States Department of
- 23:35Speaker 8: Homeland Security.
- 23:37Speaker 3: Like we would have never we would have stayed small
- 23:39Speaker 3: because I would have been comfortable. So I was comfortable
- 23:42Speaker 3: being uncomfortable because you got to realize, I'll come from
- 23:45Speaker 3: sending my money in a mail and hoping it can
- 23:47Speaker 3: it land, you know what I'm saying. So like you
- 23:50Speaker 3: know what I'm saying. So it takes some money to
- 23:52Speaker 3: a bank, and you know, like next week you're gonna
- 23:54Speaker 3: have a tax. You can't you know what I'm saying.
- 23:57Speaker 3: You can build upon that. But it definitely took a
- 23:59Speaker 3: lot of leadership. I gotta commend my team though it
- 24:03Speaker 3: wasn't me Like it took dof Doff the great Randy
- 24:08Speaker 3: bro play. He really he held the house done. Like
- 24:11Speaker 3: I always tell people like this because people like you say,
- 24:13Speaker 3: young black people looking for opportunity quit. Everybody can cross
- 24:17Speaker 3: the bridge with you, but there's some people that can
- 24:19Speaker 3: hold it up while you cross it. And you gotta
- 24:22Speaker 3: appreciate those people the head down, people who come in
- 24:25Speaker 3: every day who want you to grow. Because I'm gonna
- 24:27Speaker 3: tell you another thing, loyalty and love is hard to find.
- 24:31Speaker 3: So I had some people that work for me that
- 24:33Speaker 3: wanted me to win more than they wanted themselves to win.
- 24:36Speaker 3: And I think that that was the most important thing.
- 24:39Speaker 3: Because when a person know, okay, he's acquiring his seventh
- 24:42Speaker 3: building and I'm still just making twenty three dollars an hour,
- 24:46Speaker 3: they god.
- 24:46Speaker 4: Really believe in your really believe in.
- 24:48Speaker 3: The forecast of the business, and be willing to say, look,
- 24:52Speaker 3: you can walk on my back across the bridge. And
- 24:56Speaker 3: I think, like, we don't understand young people. Oh no know, lunergy.
- 25:01Speaker 3: It's all about a dollar. Well, I work here, you
- 25:03Speaker 3: make I make eight and our vour but TGI Fridays
- 25:06Speaker 3: they got nineteen and they just to give it to them.
- 25:09Speaker 3: And I think we gotta we gotta preach lunacy for
- 25:11Speaker 3: us to grow and for us to expand. It really
- 25:14Speaker 3: it's really contingent upon a lot of principles, bro. It's
- 25:16Speaker 3: contingent upon a lot of principles, bro.
- 25:19Speaker 5: Like like like, what y'all so I have to cut
- 25:22Speaker 5: you off, But everything you're saying right now resonates with
- 25:25Speaker 5: me so much because I'm just thinking just even with
- 25:26Speaker 5: earning your leisure life. It's like, and that's why we
- 25:28Speaker 5: hire a lot of people that we know because it's like,
- 25:30Speaker 5: loyalty is so underrated in business that somebody else is
- 25:35Speaker 5: gonna be more successful than you, and you have to
- 25:38Speaker 5: be okay with that. You have to be the extremely
- 25:40Speaker 5: humble person to know that somebody is more financially successful,
- 25:45Speaker 5: more popular than you, but you're you're helping them become
- 25:50Speaker 5: more financially successful. You're helping them become more popular. That
- 25:53Speaker 5: the popularity that you'll never have. That's something that's not
- 25:57Speaker 5: talking about enough either, Like when you start to brought
- 26:01Speaker 5: off business right, So I'm understanding these things and I'm
- 26:03Speaker 5: seeing these things from a psychological standpoint, It's like, then
- 26:06Speaker 5: you got to be a special person to actually want
- 26:08Speaker 5: to put your all into a company and help that
- 26:11Speaker 5: company grow, because as you grow, the company grows, but
- 26:13Speaker 5: you're never going to be as big with that's forty
- 26:15Speaker 5: eight laws and power. The number one rules never outshine
- 26:17Speaker 5: the masters. So it's like there's so many different things
- 26:20Speaker 5: that it's so many levels. There's so many different levels
- 26:23Speaker 5: to it. There's so many different and it's like just
- 26:24Speaker 5: from an educational standpoint, it's so mu stuff that we
- 26:26Speaker 5: had to learn as far as like payroll and like
- 26:29Speaker 5: having like health insurance for our employees for one K.
- 26:33Speaker 5: Fortunately we're blessed with early leaders, so we have relationships.
- 26:36Speaker 5: But I'm like, we had to learn so much as
- 26:39Speaker 5: we go. So I'm like the average entrepreneur, the average
- 26:41Speaker 5: black entrepreneur that has no mentorship, they don't stand a chance.
- 26:45Speaker 5: I understand why ninety six percent of black businesses don't
- 26:48Speaker 5: have employees because they don't have any level of mentorship
- 26:51Speaker 5: that they don't even know how to actually go through
- 26:54Speaker 5: ADP and make payrolls and pay state taxes and pay
- 26:58Speaker 5: the Medicare and Medicaid or they they don't know nothing
- 27:00Speaker 5: about that.
- 27:01Speaker 4: Like that's so fault.
- 27:02Speaker 3: Man. Listen to me, when I stand in front of
- 27:07Speaker 3: these these institutions right and these investors, and I know
- 27:10Speaker 3: what I'm going through, I could see how My people
- 27:13Speaker 3: ain't never had nothing, and now it gotta get so
- 27:17Speaker 3: See listen, it gotta get so much bigger than practices.
- 27:19Speaker 3: You gotta start getting on straight principles. We gotta be
- 27:23Speaker 3: we gotta be lawyer, we gotta stand firm, we gotta
- 27:25Speaker 3: have in secrity. And as the entrepreneur, your vision has
- 27:29Speaker 3: to be so big that they can put their visions
- 27:32Speaker 3: within your vision and see something for themselves. See. I
- 27:36Speaker 3: had a guidework with recently. I said, man, yeah, you're
- 27:38Speaker 3: doing good, but your employees miserable because you're not expanding.
- 27:41Speaker 3: So expansion was so important for me because if I
- 27:44Speaker 3: don't expand, they're gonna outgrow me. They gonna outgrow me,
- 27:48Speaker 3: they gonna say, shit, what's next? All you can it's
- 27:50Speaker 3: a sale hand. When you give me eighteen dollars a hour.
- 27:52Speaker 3: It don't get no bigger than that. So now I
- 27:54Speaker 3: had to buy the next building. The biggest thing for me,
- 27:57Speaker 3: what I've seen was really kept people entrenched in my
- 28:00Speaker 3: processes with ownership because once I buy this real estate,
- 28:03Speaker 3: a man, know what, if I work hard, I can
- 28:05Speaker 3: own that building and dog can finance that she. We
- 28:08Speaker 3: also have to understand that people will come up under us.
- 28:11Speaker 3: You don't have to work for a person and feel
- 28:13Speaker 3: like you gotta work two or three jobs. All of
- 28:15Speaker 3: your opportunity can come up under him real support. I
- 28:20Speaker 3: tell the people who work for me, you're so anxious
- 28:22Speaker 3: to leave and start a business where I'm getting next
- 28:28Speaker 3: and I'll invest in your business. It will make money
- 28:30Speaker 3: together because stop you right.
- 28:33Speaker 4: There, because that is what we do. So like we
- 28:36Speaker 4: got we got our young boy do Lie.
- 28:38Speaker 5: He's he's like two five years old, right, So he
- 28:40Speaker 5: came up and he he came up just kind of
- 28:42Speaker 5: being our assistant. It turned into being our manager. But
- 28:45Speaker 5: he has to He went to college, he got an NBA,
- 28:47Speaker 5: he got a master's degree and all that. But now
- 28:49Speaker 5: it's like the vending machine business. He's our business partner
- 28:52Speaker 5: in the vending machines.
- 28:54Speaker 4: So he's an owner.
- 28:55Speaker 5: He's a part owner in that vending machine business. Because
- 28:57Speaker 5: it's like, all right, we're gonna invest you're gonna be
- 29:00Speaker 5: the person that runs it. And now your your business
- 29:02Speaker 5: partner with us. And I'm sure that there's gonna be
- 29:05Speaker 5: other opportunities. So he had the foresight and the humbleness
- 29:08Speaker 5: to say, okay, I'll start out as an employee, but
- 29:12Speaker 5: doing a good job as an employee, I don't have
- 29:14Speaker 5: to stay an employee. Now I can bring opportunities. Yeah,
- 29:18Speaker 5: and like you said, who else are we gonna invest in?
- 29:21Speaker 4: Then? Somebody that we work with every single day.
- 29:24Speaker 3: But that's the ego. Caill' me tell you what the
- 29:27Speaker 3: ego come in place? Did it work for you? Right?
- 29:29Speaker 3: And be like, yeah, work for you and I work
- 29:31Speaker 3: for Applebee's and I'm saving up because I'm a photographer
- 29:34Speaker 3: on the side, and you like, that's that's stupid. Continue
- 29:38Speaker 3: to work for me, right, pitch the photography piece to
- 29:41Speaker 3: me and let's do it together. And I think, like
- 29:45Speaker 3: we they don't know. And that's why I'm going down
- 29:47Speaker 3: to so many principles because once, once these people sit
- 29:50Speaker 3: in front of us and you ask him the deep
- 29:51Speaker 3: you go. You gotta get into some deep work before
- 29:53Speaker 3: you grow with people. What's the difference between who you
- 29:56Speaker 3: are and what you do? Where do you see yourself
- 29:58Speaker 3: in five years? How do you feel I can best
- 30:00Speaker 3: participate in your life and you participate in mind? And
- 30:02Speaker 3: we create that residual vibe so we get I mean
- 30:05Speaker 3: that like a like a vibe, like a back and
- 30:09Speaker 3: forth vibe. Where we could get to the next level. Right.
- 30:11Speaker 3: So like, I just feel that the most important thing
- 30:14Speaker 3: is people committing like for example, ZODIQ Russia, like I said,
- 30:19Speaker 3: Randy bro play. If it wasn't Shaquana, Like Shaquana wasn't
- 30:22Speaker 3: looking like we ain't gonna live, We wasn't. It was
- 30:24Speaker 3: just straight, look, this is what we're on. We trying
- 30:27Speaker 3: to win together. It was about what we really wanted
- 30:30Speaker 3: offline and understanding that we could build and develop one another.
- 30:33Speaker 3: So like, if it wasn't for Zodi, the donut shot
- 30:36Speaker 3: wouldn't be as big as it is. If it wasn't
- 30:37Speaker 3: for Randy, the brunch and the donut shot wouldn't be
- 30:40Speaker 3: as big as it is. So all of these people
- 30:41Speaker 3: contributed to all of these different phases of my life.
- 30:44Speaker 3: But I'm gonna tell you what they did. They put
- 30:45Speaker 3: themselves on the back Bruner. They created a level of
- 30:48Speaker 3: humility and said, here's a man who has a plan
- 30:50Speaker 3: that's bigger than mine. Let me stop acting around, let
- 30:53Speaker 3: me stop trying to buy to an ego, let me
- 30:55Speaker 3: stop acting like I got it all figured out, Let
- 30:58Speaker 3: me stop with side hustles, and let me go all
- 31:00Speaker 3: in on what he got going on, and I can
- 31:02Speaker 3: find my way in what he got going on, and
- 31:04Speaker 3: now eventually that's kind of how we build it out.
- 31:07Speaker 3: So like taking on those partnerships within the brand is
- 31:10Speaker 3: important to scaling. That's super important to making sure that
- 31:14Speaker 3: that people have a vision that extends beyond you in
- 31:16Speaker 3: your space so that they could want to stay. It's
- 31:19Speaker 3: super important. And then also I would say creating a
- 31:22Speaker 3: level of humility for your team, Like when you go
- 31:24Speaker 3: into a job, like I said, you don't work for brands,
- 31:27Speaker 3: you work for people, right, So when you go into
- 31:29Speaker 3: a there's nothing wrong with taking a job. That's the
- 31:31Speaker 3: first thing we gotta put out there. And when you
- 31:33Speaker 3: go into a job, you have to work for a
- 31:35Speaker 3: person that can help scale your abilities. It's like a
- 31:38Speaker 3: coach is a mentorship. It's not nineteen ninety nine noor more.
- 31:41Speaker 3: It's not clocking clock out, get the check. Things have
- 31:44Speaker 3: to be very intentional. So like if I want to
- 31:47Speaker 3: grow a media company, I'm working for you for free,
- 31:51Speaker 3: for free, I'm bootstrapping it. And I'm saying here, the
- 31:54Speaker 3: man who has a vision that's bigger than myself, how
- 31:56Speaker 3: can I contribute and what assets can I person only
- 32:00Speaker 3: bring to help this man scale his company and grow
- 32:03Speaker 3: my abilities in the main time. That is a fact man.
- 32:07Speaker 4: That is a fact.
- 32:08Speaker 3: Man.
- 32:10Speaker 4: There's so much a fact with the with this business company.
- 32:13Speaker 3: Like I said, like it it's so much.
- 32:16Speaker 5: We can just hashtag like support black business. We can
- 32:19Speaker 5: hash you know, we can put up memes about, you know,
- 32:21Speaker 5: should we show support. But it's like we gotta we
- 32:23Speaker 5: gotta have deeper level conversations because it's a man. And
- 32:27Speaker 5: like you said, it's like going through the process myself
- 32:29Speaker 5: personally as a business owner, I'm understanding more and more
- 32:33Speaker 5: why there is such a disconnect right because it's like
- 32:39Speaker 5: if I'm having trouble with this who I've been in
- 32:42Speaker 5: finance for forever. I've been a business owner for a
- 32:45Speaker 5: long time. We have all the resources in the world.
- 32:47Speaker 4: We earning leisure.
- 32:48Speaker 5: If if it's a learning process for us, the average
- 32:51Speaker 5: black entrepreneur that's just trying to start a business that
- 32:53Speaker 5: has no that has no resources, they don't stand a chance.
- 32:57Speaker 3: No, And I'm gonna tell you what's the biggest learning
- 33:00Speaker 3: for me. It ain't even because I can read, I
- 33:02Speaker 3: could write, I could add it's the social construct from
- 33:06Speaker 3: black man to black man. And black woman. It's the
- 33:09Speaker 3: it's the it's the internal things that I can't figure out.
- 33:12Speaker 3: So it's like, damn, how you so lazy when we
- 33:15Speaker 3: got all these great things going on or stuff? How
- 33:17Speaker 3: do you want to work for jobs? And we're kids?
- 33:20Speaker 3: How don't you know? It's it's so much for me
- 33:22Speaker 3: at night when I lay down, it's so much peeling
- 33:25Speaker 3: back layers on that, onion, on that and and wondering
- 33:29Speaker 3: why and how we can best grow together. And I
- 33:32Speaker 3: think like the the internal work has been the most
- 33:36Speaker 3: difficult thing when it's comes for me, when it came
- 33:38Speaker 3: to scale, because like you working with some of your
- 33:40Speaker 3: best friends and you're like, how he's still lazy or
- 33:42Speaker 3: he's still late and he don't get it. How I
- 33:44Speaker 3: still got to drag you and motivate you every day
- 33:46Speaker 3: to want this. You don't see this Bentley, just the
- 33:48Speaker 3: old Bentley. We're from the ghetto. Feel me like that
- 33:52Speaker 3: ain't enough And like you got realized. Man, it's so deep.
- 33:56Speaker 3: You know what I'm saying. You put out, you can
- 33:58Speaker 3: put out the black car, put it on this fo
- 33:59Speaker 3: you you get it now and it's still man because
- 34:04Speaker 3: it's such a Johnny. But what I did, was I
- 34:06Speaker 3: embraced my role. See, gotta brace your role, Like, yo,
- 34:08Speaker 3: you're Lebron James. You is like for we don't own
- 34:13Speaker 3: our entrepreneurs. Bro, listen what you're doing.
- 34:16Speaker 4: Now, ragularve.
- 34:18Speaker 3: So now once you realize you Lebron James, That's what
- 34:21Speaker 3: I took on. Oh, I gotta get sixty every night,
- 34:23Speaker 3: so I forget. I watched the last dash, Right do
- 34:25Speaker 3: you walk up on Michael Joint and said, now you
- 34:26Speaker 3: got sixty? Mic? Mike said, I had a choice. We
- 34:29Speaker 3: had to win because you know what I'm saying. Yeah,
- 34:33Speaker 3: So you gotta realize like with in your bandwidth too. Man,
- 34:36Speaker 3: I'm gonna tell you another thing specifically for us, like
- 34:38Speaker 3: because we've kind of reached the premier, we passed the
- 34:40Speaker 3: primitive stages, right, So like for entrepreneurs in that kind
- 34:43Speaker 3: of like high six figure eleventh low seven figure range,
- 34:47Speaker 3: it has to now be a balance of your contribution
- 34:50Speaker 3: that you're willing to make, the imprint that you want
- 34:53Speaker 3: to have on your industry, also mixed with economics in
- 34:56Speaker 3: your personal life. Because I'm gonna tell you, I could
- 34:58Speaker 3: I personally feel I ca to get the next thirty
- 35:00Speaker 3: years of my life to grow in a billion our
- 35:02Speaker 3: of company, but I don't want you. And sometimes we
- 35:05Speaker 3: sign up for material possessions or end goals and the
- 35:08Speaker 3: work isn't worth it. So like, even when I was
- 35:11Speaker 3: talking to Troy, like, I like the way y'all have
- 35:13Speaker 3: kind of built it out in a space where you
- 35:15Speaker 3: can work with people that you know and trust and
- 35:17Speaker 3: grow it organically. So like, that's another thing with expansion.
- 35:20Speaker 3: Don't try to expand based off of what the next
- 35:23Speaker 3: man got. Like, Yo, listen, I see y'all the jets
- 35:26Speaker 3: our uncle, because I know we'll come with that jet.
- 35:29Speaker 3: I'm cool. I ain't even go lie to you, Troy say.
- 35:31Speaker 3: He said, Man, you ain't trying to grow to a
- 35:33Speaker 3: bigging No, I don't want to. But I also respect
- 35:36Speaker 3: that man who's going into a biggining. Like, man, I
- 35:38Speaker 3: respect that man who's going into a million because I
- 35:40Speaker 3: come to understand that as a black man. For me
- 35:43Speaker 3: to grow to a bigger in my particular industry, how
- 35:45Speaker 3: I gotta do it. It's so much work. It's so
- 35:49Speaker 3: much work, and what is that going to require? Do
- 35:51Speaker 3: I want to never have kids? Do I not want
- 35:53Speaker 3: to never get married? Do I want to always be
- 35:55Speaker 3: constantly thinking about the brand. So like, we gotta respect
- 35:58Speaker 3: those biggernings. I never forget when I first want to
- 36:01Speaker 3: get a posse, the dude told me that averag first
- 36:03Speaker 3: one got a pusse make four hundred grand a year
- 36:06Speaker 3: and over twenty five to thirty percent of people who
- 36:08Speaker 3: gotta make boyo. Now, I don't know if that was
- 36:10Speaker 3: real data, but that woke me up. Like now, when
- 36:12Speaker 3: I see a person in the porch, I respect that.
- 36:14Speaker 3: I know what you had to do. So I think
- 36:17Speaker 3: a lot of times the internet don't teach you what
- 36:19Speaker 3: you truly have to do. So I have kids who
- 36:21Speaker 3: come to Man they want Lamborghinis, and I'm saying, Google,
- 36:23Speaker 3: don't just google the Lamborghini, google the network for the
- 36:25Speaker 3: person who owns the Lamborghini and realize you washing the
- 36:28Speaker 3: dishes and there's nothing wrong with that, But are you
- 36:31Speaker 3: willing to build yourself all the way. We gotta be
- 36:33Speaker 3: red listed, We gotta be redalistic. So, like you know
- 36:38Speaker 3: what I'm saying, Once you get realistic, bro, you get
- 36:41Speaker 3: you get happy in life. Because now it's like it's
- 36:44Speaker 3: like it's like a ride home. I always tell people,
- 36:46Speaker 3: right when you're taking a ride home, a red light
- 36:48Speaker 3: gonna come, A den could run in the road and
- 36:50Speaker 3: the stop side. You keep going. You don't get distracted,
- 36:53Speaker 3: but we treat the ride home now on Instagram we
- 36:56Speaker 3: get distracted. Facebook, we get distracted. You just got I
- 37:00Speaker 3: know who you are and what you want out of
- 37:01Speaker 3: this thing. So when you do scale, you scale according
- 37:04Speaker 3: to your abilities, or if you scale according to your personality,
- 37:08Speaker 3: you scale according to your industry, and you scale according
- 37:11Speaker 3: to your bandwidth. Because bitch, trying to be like the
- 37:14Speaker 3: next person gonna stretch you thing. You see what I'm saying,
- 37:18Speaker 3: So like that was another thing, Like you gotta be
- 37:20Speaker 3: comfortable with knowing yourself and knowing what you want out
- 37:23Speaker 3: of this life. So like for me, I'm in a
- 37:25Speaker 3: good space. Man. I feel good about the brand we
- 37:27Speaker 3: building it out. My goal is to get to a
- 37:30Speaker 3: place similar like what Dave Gripman doing in Miami. I
- 37:32Speaker 3: like to do in like black cities like Atlanta or
- 37:34Speaker 3: like in la and in Brooklyn where I'm gonna circle
- 37:38Speaker 3: back with all of y'all and I'm gonna be like, yo,
- 37:39Speaker 3: here's the proposal. I want to listen. I want to
- 37:41Speaker 3: have the largest black luxury food and beverage company in
- 37:44Speaker 3: the country, and I don't want to do it myself.
- 37:48Speaker 3: That is doing something. When the corner came, there was
- 37:51Speaker 3: like a godsend more Jesus Christ, thank you, I love you.
- 37:56Speaker 3: You know it was everything, because, Yo, you don't know
- 37:59Speaker 3: how how hard it is bootstrapping a project by yourself,
- 38:03Speaker 3: figuring out the next play by yourself, not having all
- 38:07Speaker 3: the answers by yourself. She's been able to take the
- 38:09Speaker 3: entire accounting side of that business off off of my table,
- 38:13Speaker 3: Like it's nothing wrong with splitting the pie, especially if
- 38:17Speaker 3: the pie even bigger, there's nothing wrong with it. I
- 38:20Speaker 3: think we just so caught up because you're know, coming
- 38:22Speaker 3: from the street is pay for the car cast self made. Yeah,
- 38:25Speaker 3: everything from the jeweler, pay cash. You know what I'm saying.
- 38:28Speaker 3: So we got that mindset of like, yo, don't never
- 38:31Speaker 3: need nobody and don't look like you need nobody.
- 38:34Speaker 5: That goes back to the and that goes back to this.
- 38:36Speaker 5: This is the last thing I'm gonna say. That goes
- 38:38Speaker 5: back to the support and not tagging. Because we come
- 38:40Speaker 5: from that mindset is like it is every man for themselves,
- 38:43Speaker 5: that every man thing is only gonna leave you by yourself.
- 38:47Speaker 4: It's like, y'all got mind.
- 38:49Speaker 5: I'm not helping you on. You help yourself get it.
- 38:51Speaker 5: I'm self made. That goes back to that that mindset
- 38:55Speaker 5: of like, you know what I'm saying, I did it myself.
- 38:57Speaker 4: I'm up. Nobody did any think themselves? Nobody.
- 38:59Speaker 5: You can't show me I thing themselves. I don't care
- 39:01Speaker 5: what they tell you. They lying to you, because everybody
- 39:04Speaker 5: has some level of support. Early Alsia has probably fifty
- 39:07Speaker 5: people fifty p.
- 39:09Speaker 3: At least at least fifty people.
- 39:11Speaker 5: The superstar status and it helps them become millionaires and
- 39:14Speaker 5: things of that nature, just by putting them on our platform.
- 39:16Speaker 5: So even even if you did all the work by yourself,
- 39:19Speaker 5: at some point somebody wrote an article about you, somebody
- 39:21Speaker 5: put you on their podcast, somebody actually you know, was
- 39:25Speaker 5: the first person to buy your product. In both nobody
- 39:27Speaker 5: has done anything you have. You have not success by yourself.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Stop saying that because it's dangerous.
- 39:32Speaker 3: Because you're poison in.
- 39:34Speaker 5: The minds of impressionable people and they don't know any
- 39:38Speaker 5: better and they thinking, Okay, yeah, I'm self made, I'm
- 39:40Speaker 5: gonna do it myself. And only thing you're doing is
- 39:43Speaker 5: just perpetuating a dangerous selfish cycle. And this is why
- 39:46Speaker 5: we still in last place, because no matter how much
- 39:48Speaker 5: we get individually, that's still one person. One person is
- 39:51Speaker 5: not equate to forty six million people. So if one
- 39:54Speaker 5: percent of black people are doing well for themselves, that's
- 39:58Speaker 5: not beneficial and that's not helpful when ninety are still struggling.
- 40:02Speaker 3: For sure, one hundred percent, And I think it's odd
- 40:05Speaker 3: job to create the Like another thing, stop asking people
- 40:10Speaker 3: who are not interested in you for stuff too, like
- 40:12Speaker 3: you know, I mean, I deal with people all the
- 40:14Speaker 3: time where you know, I've reached out the shit now
- 40:17Speaker 3: to try to get a bag, and I'm looking for that.
- 40:19Speaker 3: No listen, just like this black company right here to
- 40:22Speaker 3: offer you a bag, you ain't want to take it. Like,
- 40:25Speaker 3: we gotta now put our time and energy into ourselves
- 40:29Speaker 3: more than ever, more than ever. It's extremely important for
- 40:33Speaker 3: us to put our time and our energy into ourselves.
- 40:36Speaker 3: And even even when I say ourselves, I'm not even
- 40:38Speaker 3: specifically talking about black people supporting the people who support
- 40:41Speaker 3: you anybody, because you can create, you know, you create
- 40:45Speaker 3: that ecosystem and you get you get where you gotta
- 40:46Speaker 3: go faster.
- 40:48Speaker 4: Derek, I love you, my.
- 40:49Speaker 5: Brother, can you tell them you like mass for tell
- 40:53Speaker 5: your business where it's located and all of that.
- 40:55Speaker 3: Okay, So my name is Don Fact, gonna be in
- 40:57Speaker 3: Baltimore and Maryland. I own uh a vegan donuts shop
- 41:01Speaker 3: called Cloudy Donuts. Were also own a brunch restaurant called
- 41:05Speaker 3: Homemade h O M me M A I D. So
- 41:07Speaker 3: you can follow us at Homemade h O M me
- 41:10Speaker 3: M A I D on Instagram, Cloudy Donuts on Instagram.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Boss like you know, like Rick Roster, Boss at Cheese Steak,
- 41:17Speaker 3: the file at way you know what I'm saying. We
- 41:18Speaker 3: got Boss Steaks, which is a going mate fillet me
- 41:20Speaker 3: on Cheese Steak pop up that we do and we're
- 41:22Speaker 3: gonna be opening another store this spring. We also own
- 41:25Speaker 3: Huckles Hot Sauce, which is twelve different flavors of hot
- 41:28Speaker 3: sauce that we have regionally. You can follow us at
- 41:32Speaker 3: Huckles Fools on Instagram. UH. And a real estate company,
- 41:37Speaker 3: First Class real Estate. So shout out the Fernando, shout
- 41:40Speaker 3: out the Rashad and Troy, because they was the infrastructure.
- 41:42Speaker 3: I would never know. I would never know them without them,
- 41:45Speaker 3: Like yeah, never shout out to Sirquana. We're doing a
- 41:49Speaker 3: Cloudy Donuts and Brooklyn Brooklyn Heights. You know what I'm saying,
- 41:52Speaker 3: that's gonna be a good look for us, And shout
- 41:55Speaker 3: out the Zodi t roferings. Shout out the Randy bro play.
- 41:58Speaker 3: Zodi actually has a park cerk Parca. It's caught sober
- 42:00Speaker 3: in the morning, and she's been the pillar of our brand.
- 42:04Speaker 3: And Randy is doctor great on Instagram and he has
- 42:07Speaker 3: his own thing going with as a private chef and
- 42:09Speaker 3: you know, real estate and things like that. So these
- 42:12Speaker 3: are the people who uplifted me. And I agree with you.
- 42:14Speaker 3: Like when people do things, they never do them alone.
- 42:17Speaker 3: They just don't want to tell you. They just want
- 42:19Speaker 3: to hide it. Now, let me make it seem like
- 42:20Speaker 3: I did everything. And you know, I think that that's
- 42:23Speaker 3: kind of been our authenticensity of showing our way. Like
- 42:26Speaker 3: you said, you come from an iPhone and a microphone.
- 42:29Speaker 3: I remember the first when we did a joint in
- 42:31Speaker 3: your house. I had to use my phone for a
- 42:33Speaker 3: little while until we transitioned over right, And like, yo,
- 42:37Speaker 3: those are the things you should be proud of. Like
- 42:39Speaker 3: nobody proud of the struggle. Nobody proud of the struggle.
- 42:42Speaker 3: Though nobody take pride in the struggle. And it's so
- 42:45Speaker 3: crazy because when we get a little something, we forget
- 42:48Speaker 3: the struggle on where we came from. And like for me,
- 42:51Speaker 3: I always tap into this struggle like, Man, I'm head
- 42:53Speaker 3: with it. It's whole food. You know what I'm saying.
- 42:56Speaker 3: I get a small cut, I'm gonna go in the house.
- 42:58Speaker 3: I'm a study. I'm gonna focus on going back to
- 43:00Speaker 3: the basics and what got me where I gotta go.
- 43:02Speaker 3: So yeah, man, that's all I can say. Man. You know,
- 43:06Speaker 3: if you if you continue to scribe, if you continue
- 43:08Speaker 3: to support black businesses, if you make your support not
- 43:10Speaker 3: only economic but also mental, also emotional, and also social,
- 43:16Speaker 3: then that three sixty helps cantapault black businesses to the
- 43:20Speaker 3: next level. Don't forget it's twenty twenty two, but for
- 43:23Speaker 3: us it's nineteen twenty two. Man, keep pushing, my brother.
- 43:26Speaker 3: I appreciate you, bro, all right, Bro, DOGU mind my
- 43:32Speaker 3: graduates from my school being forts back drop back drop
