- 0:03Speaker 1: Shall we begin the show proper? Let's go wake up.
- 0:09Speaker 2: Kicking off your day in the best way. It's Sonia
- 0:12Speaker 2: and Joakim on the
- 0:13Speaker 2: shock circuit.
- 0:14Speaker 1: So, welcome to Monday, and if you're in primary 6,
- 0:17Speaker 1: today being Mother tongue Day for you, sending you all
- 0:21Speaker 1: the love as you take on 3 out of 4
- 0:24Speaker 1: PSLE papers today, it is Joakim Gomez keeping you company
- 0:28Speaker 1: right here on the Shock circuit. Singapore's number 1 hit
- 0:31Speaker 1: music station.
- 0:34Speaker 1: Now, focusing on the Asian Games for a bit, I'll
- 0:37Speaker 1: definitely be talking about Shanti Pereira. I want to do
- 0:40Speaker 1: it just past 7 a.m. when more people are awake
- 0:43Speaker 1: here in Singapore, in case you are not following whatever's
- 0:46Speaker 1: happening in Japan right now when it comes to the
- 0:50Speaker 1: best of the best in the countries of Asia, Shanti
- 0:54Speaker 1: Pereira winning gold for Singapore at the 200 m finals.
- 0:59Speaker 1: But I also want to say congratulations.
- 1:00Speaker 1: Congratulations to all Team Singapore athletes, especially to one Low
- 1:05Speaker 1: Ken Yu, because apparently he has guaranteed a historic medal
- 1:10Speaker 1: for Singapore in the sport of badminton. And today at
- 1:15Speaker 1: 10:30 a.m. Singapore time, if I am not wrong, he
- 1:19Speaker 1: takes on his Korean counterpart for hopefully a spot in
- 1:23Speaker 1: the grand finals when it comes to the badminton event.
- 1:27Speaker 1: And hopefully he flies the Singapore flag high. Congrats to
- 1:31Speaker 1: Loki and you and to everyone in Japan flying the
- 1:34Speaker 1: Singapore flag high, setting either a season's best or a
- 1:38Speaker 1: personal best timing. We've got some new national records as well,
- 1:42Speaker 1: and you know what? You can guarantee for Sonia and I,
- 1:45Speaker 1: we have people reaching out to some of our athletes. Hopefully,
- 1:48Speaker 1: we bring them in for a nice chat post Asian Games,
- 1:52Speaker 1: and I want to send some encouragement.
- 1:54Speaker 1: To everybody doing their PSLE this Monday morning. All the
- 1:58Speaker 1: best to you.
- 2:01Speaker 1: You're done with two papers already, 2 more to go,
- 2:03Speaker 1: or for some of you, 3 more to go. Today,
- 2:06Speaker 1: it's being Mother Tongue Day, 28th of September, and I
- 2:10Speaker 1: believe I'm looking at your official timetable right now. Paper
- 2:14Speaker 1: one is at 8:15 a.m. and then paper two happens
- 2:19Speaker 1: from 10:15 a.m. onwards. You might need to go to.
- 2:22Speaker 1: School early to sit in the examination hall and make
- 2:25Speaker 1: sure you have everything with you. If you're allowed to,
- 2:27Speaker 1: don't forget your zhi tian and also be on standby
- 2:32Speaker 1: in just a while. You can send all the love
- 2:35Speaker 1: and messages that you want to anyone you know in
- 2:36Speaker 1: primary 6 or maybe you could call in at 669-119-87
- 2:41Speaker 1: and request for your favorite.
- 2:43Speaker 1: Song to play. Hopefully, that gives you a bit of
- 2:46Speaker 1: energy and gives you a better mood before you make
- 2:48Speaker 1: your way to the examination hall for your mother tongue
- 2:51Speaker 1: of paper. Check your characters, check your words, make sure
- 2:54Speaker 1: you've spelled them correctly, and again, respect to anyone who
- 2:58Speaker 1: takes Tamil because whenever I look at how to write
- 3:01Speaker 1: some of the characters, it, it is tough, man.
- 3:05Speaker 1: Really, I, I, I've tried to write a sentence and
- 3:07Speaker 1: my hand and my artistic mind, it, it just can't
- 3:10Speaker 1: compute on how to write those words. So there you go.
- 3:13Speaker 1: Respect to everyone. I want to read out as many
- 3:16Speaker 1: as I can right now saying good morning to Meg,
- 3:19Speaker 1: who says, morning Joakim. I want to wish my two
- 3:21Speaker 1: amazing daughters, Luanne and Lorraine, all the best and good
- 3:26Speaker 1: luck for the exams. Stay focused and be calm. One
- 3:29Speaker 1: of them doing their PSLE.
- 3:31Speaker 1: today and the other one doing secondary to literature. Love
- 3:36Speaker 1: Mummy Mag. Meg, hopefully, this put a smile on their faces.
- 3:40Speaker 1: We go from training season to neck deep in exam
- 3:44Speaker 1: season here in Singapore, not just PSLE, but I believe
- 3:47Speaker 1: some other people are doing their examinations as well. We're
- 3:51Speaker 1: talking the N-levels. People might be revising for their O's
- 3:55Speaker 1: and A levels, and if I'm not wrong, people are doing.
- 3:58Speaker 1: Doing some literature papers today as well. All the best
- 4:01Speaker 1: to you and especially if you're in secondary 2, make
- 4:06Speaker 1: sure you choose your subject combi wisely as you enter
- 4:09Speaker 1: sec 3, sec 4, maybe even sec 5s for a
- 4:13Speaker 1: handful of us here in Singapore. That's it. I'm gonna
- 4:15Speaker 1: open the phone lines right now, 669-119-87. If you want
- 4:20Speaker 1: to call us and wish your school all the best
- 4:24Speaker 1: for their exams.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Or anyone that you know in primary 6, or if
- 4:27Speaker 1: you yourself are in primary 6, let us know. I
- 4:30Speaker 1: want to play you your favorite song here on 987.
- 4:33Speaker 1: For me, music was a big time companion, almost the
- 4:37Speaker 1: best companion for me when I was doing my PSLE
- 4:41Speaker 1: and back then, it was the music of Britney Spears,
- 4:45Speaker 1: Christina Aguilera, the Backstreet Boys, Westlife, Ricky Martin, Carlos Centena.
- 4:52Speaker 1: All those songs were actually being played on 987 back
- 4:56Speaker 1: then when people like Gene Danker was still here and
- 4:58Speaker 1: I was tuned in and was hoping that she would
- 5:01Speaker 1: play me my favorite Backstreet Boys song, which she finally
- 5:04Speaker 1: did last year when I complained too much. Hey, until
- 5:07Speaker 1: now I haven't read my letter, is it? And she
- 5:09Speaker 1: played it on our sister station Class 95. So keep
- 5:12Speaker 1: the calls and the messages coming in. Wanna say good
- 5:15Speaker 1: morning to Katie. Katie, you say.
- 5:18Speaker 1: I'm wishing for my mother's friend's son who is taking
- 5:22Speaker 1: PSLE this year. His name is Evan. He is very
- 5:26Speaker 1: stressed and I hope that he can do it, and
- 5:28Speaker 1: I myself am doing my literature end of years today,
- 5:31Speaker 1: so I hope I will pass too. And one coming
- 5:34Speaker 1: in from Irene. Irene says, all the best for your
- 5:37Speaker 1: PSLE Mandarin paper, Rafael Tiao, and you actually write the
- 5:41Speaker 1: words in Mandarin. I'm very thankful I'm able to read it.
- 5:44Speaker 1: We also got one.
- 5:45Speaker 1: Coming in from Desmond. Desmond's saying, hey, Joakim, I wanna
- 5:48Speaker 1: wish my sons, Gabriel and Jaden, all the best for
- 5:52Speaker 1: their mother tongue of paper today. They're on their way
- 5:55Speaker 1: to school with me in the car right now. Could
- 5:57Speaker 1: you please play them anything from BTS? Why not? Your
- 6:01Speaker 1: wish is my command, but before we touch on the
- 6:03Speaker 1: world of motor sport, we must say congratulations to one
- 6:07Speaker 1: Shanti Pereira. Thank you for flying the Singapore flag high.
- 6:13Speaker 1: And if you want to catch her emotional post-race interview
- 6:17Speaker 1: done with Ed Russell, I think it's available for your
- 6:20Speaker 1: Media Corp Sports online on all the social media platforms. So, yesterday,
- 6:25Speaker 1: it was the 200 m finals and Shanti Pereira, aside
- 6:29Speaker 1: from taking home the gold medal for Singapore,
- 6:32Speaker 1: She has also become the first Asian to defend her
- 6:36Speaker 1: gold medal crown when it comes to the 200 m event.
- 6:40Speaker 1: And just listen to 18 seconds worth of commentary. Here
- 6:44Speaker 1: we go. Chen, she's got this amazing kick. Preda is
- 6:47Speaker 1: right there. Boy, we've got a head to head battle.
- 6:49Speaker 1: Preda's getting the bid.
- 6:52Speaker 1: For Singapore has got the gold and she is the.
- 6:56Speaker 1: title from 2023, a sensational win.
- 7:02Speaker 1: You know what, I'm gonna make a very bold prediction here.
- 7:04Speaker 1: You know how some National Day parades, we still play
- 7:07Speaker 1: the commentary of our team Singapore Lions in football, in
- 7:11Speaker 1: the world of football, and maybe even Joseph Schooling as well.
- 7:14Speaker 1: I'm pretty sure this commentator's voice will live on in
- 7:18Speaker 1: Singapore's sporting history as we will replay this moment over
- 7:23Speaker 1: and over again when it comes to highlights.
- 7:25Speaker 1: I think some of the best in the sporting world
- 7:27Speaker 1: that Singapore has to offer. Shanti Pereira, congratulations, and we
- 7:32Speaker 1: cannot wait to have you in the studio and maybe
- 7:35Speaker 1: have a chat with us about how you showed up
- 7:38Speaker 1: every day to train, whether rain or shine, happy or sad,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and it's all paid off. 200 m gold and 100
- 7:47Speaker 1: m silver.
- 7:48Speaker 1: Just like you did for the 2022 version of the
- 7:51Speaker 1: Asian Games. Congratulations. Going solo today if you just joined
- 7:55Speaker 1: us wondering, hey, where's our darling Sonia Chew? Uh, she
- 7:58Speaker 1: texted me around 5:30 a.m. in the morning saying that
- 8:01Speaker 1: she's feeling a little bit under the weather, and yes,
- 8:04Speaker 1: the weather here in Singapore has been erratic. I'm not
- 8:07Speaker 1: complaining about the rain, by the way. It's nice to
- 8:09Speaker 1: have rain again.
- 8:11Speaker 1: But yeah, hopefully the haze clears and we can all
- 8:14Speaker 1: go back to business as usual and even doing our
- 8:17Speaker 1: sports as well. Again, shout out to you if you
- 8:19Speaker 1: are very patient and really understanding of the organizer's decision
- 8:24Speaker 1: yesterday for the Kip run to bring 21.1 km down
- 8:28Speaker 1: to 10 km, but everyone still had fun.
- 8:31Speaker 1: And reading the social media sentiment on threads and even
- 8:35Speaker 1: on Reddit as well. I think it's kind of good. So, yeah,
- 8:38Speaker 1: no complaints there. Also, I want to just read a
- 8:40Speaker 1: few more texts coming in of parents wanting to wish
- 8:43Speaker 1: their kids all the best for their exam season and
- 8:45Speaker 1: even PSLE. Wanna say hello to Selvin. Selvin says, hey, Joakim,
- 8:50Speaker 1: PSLE is definitely not an easy journey, both for the
- 8:53Speaker 1: students and their parents. I've gone through the PSLE journey
- 8:56Speaker 1: 3 times with
- 8:58Speaker 1: My children from 2005 to 2017, so I can understand
- 9:02Speaker 1: what many parents are going through today. To all students
- 9:05Speaker 1: taking their PSLE, stay calm, do your best and all
- 9:08Speaker 1: the very best for your exams, and to the parents,
- 9:11Speaker 1: hang in there too. And one more text coming in
- 9:13Speaker 1: from Lee. Morning, Joakim. Please give a shout out to
- 9:16Speaker 1: my son, Hayden Koh from Yio Chu Kang Secondary School.
- 9:20Speaker 1: He's taking his Secondary 3 Chinese paper today, although confirmed fail.
- 9:29Speaker 1: Please tell him to do his best and don't leave
- 9:32Speaker 1: blanks on the paper, wah.
- 9:35Speaker 1: This is a troll message for sure, but yes, if
- 9:38Speaker 1: you're the kind of parent that Hayden has, I'm very
- 9:41Speaker 1: sure it must be a very fun household with you
- 9:43Speaker 1: guys roasting each other. When we come back though, if
- 9:47Speaker 1: you're familiar with Georgetown Penang, I want to take you
- 9:51Speaker 1: there for a while. This involves parking, and I really
- 9:55Speaker 1: wonder if such a thing were to happen here in Singapore,
- 9:58Speaker 1: would people do the same in moving a car?
- 10:02Speaker 1: I want to take you over to Georgetown Penang. Look,
- 10:05Speaker 1: it's a place that I must go. I hear the
- 10:07Speaker 1: food there is very good and some of the artistic murals,
- 10:10Speaker 1: makes a very nice Instagram backdrop as well. But this
- 10:13Speaker 1: could be a reminder for us here in Singapore in
- 10:16Speaker 1: terms of parking. Yes, we have very interesting parking pictures
- 10:20Speaker 1: and videos available for you on social media here in Singapore,
- 10:24Speaker 1: but over at Georgetown, Penang, I think there is a
- 10:26Speaker 1: lane that is quite popular with the locals.
- 10:30Speaker 1: And tourists as well, and on Sundays, it's car-free, apparently,
- 10:35Speaker 1: but there was one parked car over there on this
- 10:39Speaker 1: narrow lane, and it was blocking the path of a
- 10:43Speaker 1: bus that was supposed to go through that lane to
- 10:46Speaker 1: maybe alight some tourists or whatsoever. What happens? Locals and
- 10:51Speaker 1: tourists came together to actually lift the car, move it
- 10:55Speaker 1: aside so the bus can go through.
- 10:59Speaker 1: I wonder whether as the owner taken ownership, no pun intended,
- 11:04Speaker 1: of this kind of bad parking, and I wonder what
- 11:07Speaker 1: the follow-up is as well, but people online are saying, yes,
- 11:10Speaker 1: well done. I wish you could do it in our
- 11:12Speaker 1: home country as well. So I'm just thinking here in Singapore,
- 11:16Speaker 1: if people were to do something like that.
- 11:19Speaker 1: I, I, I don't think it is allowed. We could
- 11:23Speaker 1: get into trouble if we try to move a car
- 11:24Speaker 1: by ourselves as well, but this is hilarious. So maybe
- 11:27Speaker 1: it could be a reminder to park your car properly, hopefully,
- 11:31Speaker 1: dropping some Singapore telco trivia your way right now on
- 11:35Speaker 1: this Monday morning.
- 11:37Speaker 1: We have 4 mobile network operators, OK? Singtel, StarHub, M1,
- 11:43Speaker 1: and Simba, formerly known as TPG Singapore. So I think
- 11:49Speaker 1: if you were to have read the article, if not,
- 11:51Speaker 1: not to worry, I will summarize it for you. There
- 11:54Speaker 1: were talks between, I believe it was Simba.
- 11:59Speaker 1: And, and M1. So, the proposed acquisition of M1 by
- 12:04Speaker 1: rival Simba fell through, and now there are talks between
- 12:08Speaker 1: StarHub and our friends over at Cappel. Now, Cappel are
- 12:12Speaker 1: the parent company of M1, so there could be a
- 12:16Speaker 1: potential merger between StarHub and M1 and maybe to give
- 12:20Speaker 1: SingTel and Simba a run for their money. But if
- 12:24Speaker 1: you
- 12:24Speaker 1: If you were to have read the article, what people
- 12:26Speaker 1: are saying is OK if we go from 4 mobile
- 12:30Speaker 1: network operators to 3, it could reduce competition here in
- 12:34Speaker 1: Singapore and also maybe customers and consumers who think, hey,
- 12:38Speaker 1: maybe we could have more discounts or whatsoever. No, it
- 12:41Speaker 1: could mean fewer discounts, promotion, and cheaper mobile plans and
- 12:47Speaker 1: smaller players, for example, like Circle.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Circles Life could also keep prices competitive, provided they retain
- 12:54Speaker 1: fair access to the merged companies' network. So, if you're
- 12:58Speaker 1: on Circles Life, they're actually using M1's network. There you go. So,
- 13:04Speaker 1: let's see what happens, whether will the world of telcos
- 13:07Speaker 1: be spiced up here in Singapore. I'm invested. I, I
- 13:11Speaker 1: just wanna see what happens and hopefully, we as consumers,
- 13:14Speaker 1: we win.
- 13:15Speaker 1: In terms of price plans, but again, the analysts, they
- 13:18Speaker 1: always say something negative, but I'm just hoping for a
- 13:22Speaker 1: good balance between the consumer and the people that we
- 13:25Speaker 1: consume from. And to my fellow bros and sisters, if
- 13:28Speaker 1: you're tuned in right now here on 987.
- 13:31Speaker 1: We think we know all about love and dating and
- 13:33Speaker 1: sometimes life just offers us a curveball. Was catching up
- 13:37Speaker 1: with a few friends the past weekend, and over lunch,
- 13:40Speaker 1: one of my female friends was saying that, hey, you know,
- 13:43Speaker 1: this guy is quite a serial love bomber here in Singapore,
- 13:46Speaker 1: and I was like, who is this person? And I
- 13:49Speaker 1: realized there are plenty of threads and there are even
- 13:53Speaker 1: there's even a podcast about this guy's love bombing habits.
- 13:55Speaker 1: I don't want to say names or whatsoever, but if
- 13:57Speaker 1: you do your research, I think you might even know already.
- 14:00Speaker 1: So she was sharing that she received a DM from
- 14:03Speaker 1: this said person.
- 14:04Speaker 1: And this person went, oh, I was doing some stalking
- 14:07Speaker 1: and I realized you're doing this for a living and
- 14:09Speaker 1: you're doing that. Oh my goodness, can you please be
- 14:11Speaker 1: my wife already? Without even meeting my friend in person
- 14:17Speaker 1: for the very first time. And then, ever since that
- 14:20Speaker 1: DM and my friend responded with a, 00, hello, hi,
- 14:23Speaker 1: a bit too much, but OK, hi. You know, she's
- 14:25Speaker 1: just being nice and responsive because she isn't really based here,
- 14:29Speaker 1: so maybe she might not know too much of the
- 14:31Speaker 1: Singapore tea.
- 14:32Speaker 1: After replying the DM, the guy keeps sending her like
- 14:36Speaker 1: selfies of himself wherever he is here in Singapore, and
- 14:40Speaker 1: my friend was like, Hey, you know what, I'm actually
- 14:41Speaker 1: not based in Singapore. I'm going back to the country
- 14:44Speaker 1: where I work in. I'm not gonna say where as
- 14:46Speaker 1: well in case I reveal too much. And the guy goes, Oh,
- 14:49Speaker 1: not to worry, I can fly over and see you.
- 14:51Speaker 1: And immediately he sends us screenshots of his potential flights
- 14:56Speaker 1: to that area that he might go and see her,
- 14:58Speaker 1: which is quite weird and
- 15:00Speaker 1: And then my friend says, so I did some research
- 15:02Speaker 1: and I realized he's all over Reddit. It's all, even
- 15:05Speaker 1: as a podcast about him as well, and I'm quite scared.
- 15:08Speaker 1: All my friends are chuckling and said, thank goodness you
- 15:11Speaker 1: found out before it was too late because this modus operandi,
- 15:15Speaker 1: it's actually quite prevalent and a lot of people have
- 15:19Speaker 1: fallen victim.
- 15:20Speaker 1: And when I saw some TikTok videos, I went, oh
- 15:22Speaker 1: my goodness, he has not changed despite it being very
- 15:25Speaker 1: public information on the style that he will take to
- 15:29Speaker 1: love bomb potential female victims. There you go. So I
- 15:33Speaker 1: want to open the phone lines right now, 669-119-87. You
- 15:37Speaker 1: can remain anonymous if you want to. It's a bit
- 15:41Speaker 1: of a spicy one today and even our WhatsApp number
- 15:44Speaker 1: at 90050987. Today's question.
- 15:50Speaker 1: Whether you're male or female, I prefer not to say.
- 15:53Speaker 1: Have you ever been love bombed before? And let us
- 15:56Speaker 1: know your experience and how did you get out of it?
- 15:59Speaker 1: How did you discover that you were being love bombed?
- 16:02Speaker 1: Maybe people here in Singapore could use your help and
- 16:05Speaker 1: your advice should they need it and if they find
- 16:08Speaker 1: themselves in a, in a similar situation. So, 669-11987. I
- 16:13Speaker 1: wish Sonia.
- 16:14Speaker 1: Here. I, I, I wish you could tell me any stories.
- 16:16Speaker 1: Maybe you should ask her tomorrow, but for now, I
- 16:18Speaker 1: want to hear yours. Again, I stumbled a bit because
- 16:21Speaker 1: I'm not even planning this right now. The song title,
- 16:23Speaker 1: You Don't Even Know Me was exactly what my friend
- 16:26Speaker 1: said to me over the weekend when we were catching up.
- 16:28Speaker 1: She was sharing with my group of friends about how
- 16:30Speaker 1: she got love bombed by a serial love bomber here in.
- 16:34Speaker 1: Singapore apparently, and she didn't know this because she wasn't
- 16:37Speaker 1: based here for quite a while. She's based overseas for
- 16:40Speaker 1: work and she received a DM saying, Oh, I did
- 16:43Speaker 1: some stalking and I realized you did this and that
- 16:45Speaker 1: for a living. Oh my goodness, can you please be
- 16:47Speaker 1: my wife? And after her reply saying, Oh, hi, hi,
- 16:51Speaker 1: nice to meet you, it's a bit too much, but yeah,
- 16:53Speaker 1: thank you for sliding in and saying hello and all that.
- 16:55Speaker 1: After that reply, yeah, she started receiving unsolicited videos of
- 17:00Speaker 1: this guy living about his daily life. Not nothing too,
- 17:03Speaker 1: nothing vulgar yet and thankfully it stays that way, but yeah,
- 17:07Speaker 1: and apparently when she did her research online.
- 17:10Speaker 1: We realized that this guy is using the exact same
- 17:14Speaker 1: tactic for every single girl that he approaches. So yeah,
- 17:17Speaker 1: it's available for you online. So I asked for whether
- 17:21Speaker 1: have you been loved bombed before and before you think, hey, Joki,
- 17:24Speaker 1: what about you? You think you're perfect, is it? I'm
- 17:26Speaker 1: gonna be honest with you, I think I've done it before,
- 17:28Speaker 1: but not in a harassing sort of way, but maybe
- 17:32Speaker 1: I got really excited about a person.
- 17:35Speaker 1: And sometimes you can't contain that excitement and you say
- 17:38Speaker 1: things where you look back and you go, oh my goodness,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I was really an idiot. So I want to say
- 17:43Speaker 1: good morning to anonymous texter number one who says, hey Joakim,
- 17:48Speaker 1: I'm not sure every intense beginning is love bombing. Sometimes
- 17:53Speaker 1: you just really like someone. My boyfriend.
- 17:56Speaker 1: I were obsessed with each other when we first met.
- 17:58Speaker 1: We talked all night, saw each other every day, and
- 18:00Speaker 1: said I love you pretty quickly. We're still together years later.
- 18:04Speaker 1: I think the difference is whether the affection is genuine
- 18:07Speaker 1: or being used to manipulate you. Oh, OK. A very,
- 18:12Speaker 1: very good take on this 11 coming in from anonymous
- 18:15Speaker 1: texter number 2.
- 18:17Speaker 1: Hey Joakim, this guy went from good morning beautiful every
- 18:20Speaker 1: day to talking about marriage within 2 weeks. I thought
- 18:24Speaker 1: I had finally found my person. Then suddenly he disappeared
- 18:29Speaker 1: and looking back, I think I was love bombed. Yeah.
- 18:33Speaker 1: On the topic of being love bombed or whether
- 18:36Speaker 1: You were ever a love bomber. I'm very sure I
- 18:40Speaker 1: was at some point in time, but at least to
- 18:42Speaker 1: one person and not to like 19 or 25 different
- 18:46Speaker 1: people at one go. So apparently, long story short, a
- 18:49Speaker 1: friend was sharing about how she was love bombed by
- 18:51Speaker 1: a serial love bomber here in Singapore and thankfully, she
- 18:55Speaker 1: caught it early on before she fell victim to whatever
- 18:59Speaker 1: he is capable of. So I want to go to
- 19:01Speaker 1: WhatsApp and I actually asked
- 19:02Speaker 1: Have you ever experienced something similar? So both uh both
- 19:07Speaker 1: sides are giving their stories. So I wanna say hello
- 19:11Speaker 1: to anonymous texter number 4 this Monday morning. I think
- 19:14Speaker 1: I'll keep everyone anonymous. Hey, Joakim, I think I was
- 19:18Speaker 1: the one who was love bombing. I told this girl
- 19:20Speaker 1: whom I only met the 3rd time that I'd like
- 19:22Speaker 1: to meet her parents and eventually marry her. She told
- 19:25Speaker 1: me how overwhelmed she felt during that day.
- 19:28Speaker 1: But she's my fiance now and hopefully we'll get married
- 19:31Speaker 1: next year. So love bombing but meeting those expectations. OK.
- 19:35Speaker 1: Thankfully this had a happy ending for you. Going to
- 19:38Speaker 1: anonymous texter number 5. Hey, Joakim.
- 19:42Speaker 1: I got love bombed by a sports coach here in Singapore.
- 19:46Speaker 1: It started out as DMs. I followed him first, but
- 19:49Speaker 1: he would slide in and reply a lot, and from
- 19:51Speaker 1: the first meet-up, he would talk about marriage and kids
- 19:54Speaker 1: and flirted excessively. I knew it was love bombing because
- 19:58Speaker 1: the next few days after, he would suggest to me
- 20:01Speaker 1: every single day and suggest I look for him at
- 20:03Speaker 1: the gym, to which I was so annoyed because I
- 20:06Speaker 1: work a 9 to 5.
- 20:08Speaker 1: It's obvious if everything is only to the love bomber's convenience.
- 20:12Speaker 1: Be careful, ladies, they come in any size, shape and form. Oh,
- 20:16Speaker 1: and to add, the following week, he posted that he
- 20:19Speaker 1: was attached with someone else. I felt like I dodged
- 20:21Speaker 1: a bullet. You definitely did. Thank you very much for sharing.
- 20:25Speaker 1: On the topic of love bombing, were you on the
- 20:27Speaker 1: receiving end or were you the love bomber? Yeah. Long
- 20:31Speaker 1: story short, a friend of mine over the weekend was
- 20:33Speaker 1: sharing with a group.
- 20:34Speaker 1: That I was a part of as well about how
- 20:36Speaker 1: she was love bombed by what apparently is a serial
- 20:39Speaker 1: love bomber here in Singapore, and she wasn't aware because
- 20:42Speaker 1: she's not based here for a while, but when she
- 20:44Speaker 1: did her research, she went, oh, it's exactly the same
- 20:48Speaker 1: thing that he's done to many others, and he's doing
- 20:50Speaker 1: it to me as well. So we all chuckled and said,
- 20:52Speaker 1: thank God you caught it early. We're going to WhatsApp
- 20:55Speaker 1: right now and I'll keep all text senders anonymous for today,
- 20:58Speaker 1: given how Singapore is a very small country.
- 21:01Speaker 1: Hey, Joakim, I had just gotten out of a really
- 21:04Speaker 1: bad relationship and I met this guy. He was everything
- 21:07Speaker 1: my ex wasn't. He constantly reassured me, told me I
- 21:11Speaker 1: was beautiful, said he could see a future with me
- 21:14Speaker 1: and made me feel incredibly special. I got attached very quickly,
- 21:17Speaker 1: then I realized he was actually going through a breakup too.
- 21:21Speaker 1: I think we were both using each other to fill
- 21:24Speaker 1: a void. Ah, well, that, that, that happens a lot
- 21:28Speaker 1: more than you know, to be honest with you.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Another one coming in. Hey, Joakim, we met online and
- 21:33Speaker 1: within a month, we were talking every single night for hours.
- 21:36Speaker 1: She told me I was her soulmate and she sometimes
- 21:40Speaker 1: sent me gifts and even started planning our first holiday together,
- 21:44Speaker 1: but we had never actually met in person. When I
- 21:47Speaker 1: finally met her, the chemistry just wasn't there. It made
- 21:51Speaker 1: me realize I had fallen in love with the version
- 21:54Speaker 1: of herself that she had created through all that attention. Oh.
- 21:59Speaker 1: The rose-tinted glasses finally coming off, huh? And all right,
- 22:03Speaker 1: this weekend, you could be having friends or even yourself
- 22:07Speaker 1: headed up to Malaysia for the Bahrain Grand Prix stage
- 22:10Speaker 1: in Malaysia, the Sepran Grand Prix, and then it's happening
- 22:14Speaker 1: in Singapore, the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix.
- 22:18Speaker 1: But let's touch on the Bahrain Grand Prix staged in
- 22:20Speaker 1: Malaysia first. So, some timings to look forward to on Friday, Saturday,
- 22:25Speaker 1: and Sunday.
- 22:26Speaker 1: And finally, it's very friendly to us here in Southeast Asia.
- 22:32Speaker 1: Practice one happens on Friday, 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
- 22:36Speaker 1: Practice two from 4 to 5:00 p.m. Practice three on
- 22:40Speaker 1: Saturday from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Qualifying happens on Saturday,
- 22:46Speaker 1: 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., and then the race is
- 22:49Speaker 1: on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. There you go. And then,
- 22:52Speaker 1: of course, for the
- 22:53Speaker 1: Formula One Singapore Airlines, Singapore Grand Prix slightly later as
- 22:56Speaker 1: we are the night race. And I was just researching
- 23:00Speaker 1: on who is going to perform at the Bahring Grand
- 23:04Speaker 1: Prix staged in Malaysia, and apparently so far only two
- 23:07Speaker 1: big names. They are DJs, Martin Garrix and Axwell. There
- 23:11Speaker 1: you go. And here in Singapore, the likes of Goo
- 23:15Speaker 1: Goo Dolls, Janet Jackson, The Killers, Major Lazer, Diplo.
- 23:19Speaker 1: So they'll all be in town performing for us over
- 23:23Speaker 1: 3 days in our country. I was just scrolling through
- 23:26Speaker 1: social media and I'm getting two very different sides to
- 23:30Speaker 1: what it is like over in Bangkok. So official media
- 23:33Speaker 1: are saying that yes, it's flooding and apparently all 50
- 23:39Speaker 1: districts of the capital city, disaster-affected zones has been declared
- 23:44Speaker 1: by the Bangkok governor.
- 23:46Speaker 1: And some Singaporeans are still over in Bangkok right now,
- 23:49Speaker 1: and some are sharing about their Grab or their bike
- 23:51Speaker 1: rides being going through the floods and all that, and
- 23:54Speaker 1: some just landed in Bangkok for a quick weekend getaway.
- 23:57Speaker 1: So please stay safe if you are traveling over there
- 24:00Speaker 1: and best to stay indoors for a while until
- 24:02Speaker 1: Everything clears up. And thank you for letting me keep
- 24:05Speaker 1: you company as we took you to work as well
- 24:07Speaker 1: as school on this Monday morning. Sonia Chew, of course,
- 24:10Speaker 1: a little bit under the weather, but she will be
- 24:13Speaker 1: back with us tomorrow morning live together on the shock
- 24:17Speaker 1: circuit here on 987.
