- 0:00Speaker 1: But my favorite thing is anytime an artist comes in,
- 0:02Speaker 1: we get like an info sheet, right, like, I try
- 0:04Speaker 1: and stay plugged in.
- 0:05Speaker 2: Yeah, that sounds weird.
- 0:07Speaker 1: I was gonna say, I try and stay plugged in
- 0:08Speaker 1: on your life anyway, but that was I'm not sure.
- 0:10Speaker 3: That's not weird.
- 0:10Speaker 2: No, but it is.
- 0:12Speaker 3: No, it's not a little.
- 0:13Speaker 1: So if you sat down for an interview of someone
- 0:15Speaker 1: and be like, so I was all over your Instagram,
- 0:17Speaker 1: you wouldn't be like, no, I.
- 0:19Speaker 3: Assume when I post something that I mean it's.
- 0:21Speaker 2: Out there valid, you know.
- 0:23Speaker 1: But it's funny because Tay is a big fan of
- 0:25Speaker 1: yours and uh, and we not that I'm not, but
- 0:29Speaker 1: Tay was.
- 0:30Speaker 2: Tay is well versed. So she's like, hey, she's been
- 0:33Speaker 2: up to this.
- 0:33Speaker 1: She's been up to this, and I go, oh, plus
- 0:35Speaker 1: she's got her Wheel of Fortune appearance coming up.
- 0:37Speaker 2: She goes, she does not, I go.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Yes, she does, and she goes, does she really like, no,
- 0:42Speaker 1: I'm just kidding.
- 0:42Speaker 3: She's like, you want I don't know about that?
- 0:45Speaker 1: If I knew, well, but that's that's something that people
- 0:48Speaker 1: don't realize. How much of your schedule are you aware
- 0:51Speaker 1: of before it happens?
- 0:53Speaker 4: All of it because I ask a lot of questions. Okay,
- 0:56Speaker 4: all right, but there's there's a lot going on. So
- 0:59Speaker 4: it surprised me if someone was like, all right, will
- 1:01Speaker 4: affortunate family?
- 1:03Speaker 2: Is that why you're early?
- 1:04Speaker 1: They're like, hey, you got Wayne D and Tata that
- 1:06Speaker 1: You're like, oh god, can we just get it over with?
- 1:08Speaker 3: No, I'm kidding, but isn't it good that I'm early?
- 1:11Speaker 2: Not late? That is true?
- 1:13Speaker 1: Listens, but I'll tell you I worked on like in
- 1:16Speaker 1: pop radio, country is earlier on time. Pop is like
- 1:20Speaker 1: be ready, but we're probably going to be forty five
- 1:22Speaker 1: minutes late.
- 1:23Speaker 2: Yeah, and it's fine.
- 1:24Speaker 1: It's a different world, it is. How are things we
- 1:27Speaker 1: caught up? The last time we caught up?
- 1:29Speaker 4: Uh?
- 1:30Speaker 2: The single has just come out?
- 1:31Speaker 1: Yeah, you just put out the coffee We had the
- 1:36Speaker 1: coffee party.
- 1:39Speaker 2: How so let me start with the single.
- 1:42Speaker 1: When you put out an emotional song, it lets people
- 1:46Speaker 1: open up that maybe didn't know how to before. So
- 1:49Speaker 1: what has that reception been like? Because obviously you've met
- 1:51Speaker 1: fans Yeah since then?
- 1:53Speaker 2: Right, what what has that reception been like? And maybe
- 1:55Speaker 2: a story.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Or two that that has happened from from maybe a
- 1:59Speaker 1: DM or running into some it's.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Been really interesting not touring right now because I feel
- 2:04Speaker 3: like that's the quickest.
- 2:05Speaker 4: Way to get a pulse on how the song's connecting
- 2:07Speaker 4: with people. And I'm not doing a show until Madison
- 2:11Speaker 4: Square Garden in a couple months or next month.
- 2:13Speaker 1: Hey, by the way, by the way, don't say a
- 2:16Speaker 1: show at Madison Square Garden, I guess unless you're gonna
- 2:18Speaker 1: lead it with a sold out show at Madison.
- 2:21Speaker 3: Sold out to albums, I do my homework. I feel like.
- 2:26Speaker 4: That's gonna be the first time that I play the
- 2:28Speaker 4: song for people. I mean in a full band, real capacity.
- 2:33Speaker 4: I've played it a couple of times acoustic, but you know,
- 2:36Speaker 4: anytime you put out new music, it's it's scary at first,
- 2:40Speaker 4: and then you just hope that people let it into
- 2:42Speaker 4: their lives and projected onto their their story however they
- 2:46Speaker 4: want to. And I feel like that song is slow
- 2:49Speaker 4: and steady, but it's doing that, and I can't wait
- 2:52Speaker 4: to play with Noah. I feel like that's really when
- 2:54Speaker 4: we get to present it like it's meant to be.
- 2:56Speaker 1: So does that mean no, it's at the MSG show
- 2:58Speaker 1: right I.
- 2:59Speaker 3: Don't know yet.
- 3:00Speaker 4: I don't know that answer, but we are nominated for
- 3:03Speaker 4: CMA together.
- 3:05Speaker 1: How does he which I'm getting off track, let me start.
- 3:09Speaker 2: Let me ask that.
- 3:10Speaker 1: How did he react? Because this is familiar land for you.
- 3:14Speaker 1: You are a country artist, right, yeah, he this is
- 3:17Speaker 1: the first time he would be in that category.
- 3:20Speaker 2: So what was his reaction like to you for that?
- 3:23Speaker 3: So stoked? So stoked?
- 3:24Speaker 4: I mean, he loves country music and his album isn't
- 3:27Speaker 4: not country.
- 3:28Speaker 2: I mean I agree with that.
- 3:29Speaker 3: The songwriting is very storytelling, very much so in the
- 3:31Speaker 3: country space.
- 3:32Speaker 4: So he was really excited, and I mean he's excited
- 3:35Speaker 4: to go obviously, like he's not going to miss AMA's.
- 3:38Speaker 1: Come on, I want to go back to the Madison
- 3:40Speaker 1: Square Garden show because I felt excitement, but I also
- 3:44Speaker 1: felt anxiety as soon as you're like, oh my.
- 3:46Speaker 2: God, that's all the way. But what is that going
- 3:50Speaker 2: to be like?
- 3:51Speaker 1: Because it's been a minute since you've toured, which means
- 3:55Speaker 1: it's been a minute since the band's been together.
- 3:57Speaker 2: Pun intended absolutely.
- 3:59Speaker 1: How emotional is that going to be knowing that your
- 4:01Speaker 1: life is in a new chapter, your career is in
- 4:04Speaker 1: a new chapter. People are already absorbing this music, So
- 4:07Speaker 1: what's it what's that going to be like to I mean,
- 4:09Speaker 1: this is almost a new step in this.
- 4:12Speaker 2: New direction for Free.
- 4:13Speaker 4: I mean we're playing the record top to bottom four
- 4:16Speaker 4: days after it comes out, and it's all new production,
- 4:20Speaker 4: We're adding to the band.
- 4:22Speaker 3: It's it's a lot.
- 4:25Speaker 4: I just for me, when I first signed my record
- 4:28Speaker 4: deal like eleven years ago now, they were like, what's
- 4:33Speaker 4: your what's your dream, what's your goal? And nineteen year
- 4:36Speaker 4: old me, I was like, I want to come up
- 4:38Speaker 4: on a hydraulic lift in the middle of an arena.
- 4:40Speaker 4: And like for me growing up going to shows and
- 4:44Speaker 4: arenas and then when we move to Nashville go into
- 4:45Speaker 4: Bridgetone all the time. For me, that was just that
- 4:48Speaker 4: was the moment of an artist that to me was like, Oh,
- 4:51Speaker 4: they've made it, like they're they're you know, That's That's
- 4:54Speaker 4: what I want to do. And historically there's not a
- 4:57Speaker 4: lot of women in country music that have made that
- 4:59Speaker 4: jump two arenas, and so I've always been really protective
- 5:03Speaker 4: of if I ever get to do that, I want
- 5:06Speaker 4: to do it at a time where I can do
- 5:07Speaker 4: it right and and make everyone proud, you know. And
- 5:12Speaker 4: I just think on my fifth studio album, it's like
- 5:15Speaker 4: now or never, and so I just I'm really excited
- 5:17Speaker 4: to make the jump. I am so so the hydroug
- 5:20Speaker 4: lift is a part of the show as we have
- 5:21Speaker 4: a hydraulic lift.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Baby, I do want to I do want to ask,
- 5:27Speaker 1: because you have lived more, more vulnerably the last two
- 5:34Speaker 1: years than a lot of artists have in any format.
- 5:36Speaker 1: You have been super honest. You've been super open regardless
- 5:39Speaker 1: of how difficult that was for you. You learned from us
- 5:41Speaker 1: talking before. It's helped other people with how honest you've been,
- 5:45Speaker 1: knowing that this is a big step in where your
- 5:48Speaker 1: career is going next with a massive MSG show. Does
- 5:51Speaker 1: Kelsey Ballerini cry that night?
- 5:54Speaker 4: Oh my god, I can cry thinking about it right now,
- 5:57Speaker 4: if I let myself, I cry every day.
- 6:00Speaker 3: Oh my god.
- 6:01Speaker 2: I think we all do.
- 6:02Speaker 3: But you know what.
- 6:03Speaker 4: The other the other headline arena show that I did
- 6:05Speaker 4: was in Knoxville last year, my hometown arena, and I
- 6:09Speaker 4: cried all morning, went on stage, did the dang thing,
- 6:13Speaker 4: walked off stage. Not only did I cry, I ran
- 6:16Speaker 4: to the bathroom and just puked.
- 6:18Speaker 3: I was literally I was so anxious.
- 6:21Speaker 4: I was like a little ball of nerves and I
- 6:23Speaker 4: was like, Kelsey, get on that stage and make your
- 6:25Speaker 4: hometown proud, and I did it, and as soon as
- 6:27Speaker 4: I was done, I was just like, like, I just crying,
- 6:30Speaker 4: throwing up. I was.
- 6:31Speaker 3: It was a lot, So I assume I'll do the
- 6:33Speaker 3: same thing.
- 6:33Speaker 2: You're like, mom followed me to the bathroom?
- 6:35Speaker 3: Please have you thrown up in an MSG bathroom?
- 6:38Speaker 1: But I don't know, Actually that might not be that
- 6:41Speaker 1: uncommon backstage. Yeah, for sure when you talk about the
- 6:46Speaker 1: MSG show, people can see obviously as we'll share this
- 6:49Speaker 1: on social media. The excitement, Right, What is it about
- 6:54Speaker 1: this new album coming, the new music that's out there
- 6:57Speaker 1: and more that's coming, that has you, I mean, more
- 7:00Speaker 1: confident than ever? Would I be right in saying that?
- 7:03Speaker 3: Yeah? I think so.
- 7:05Speaker 4: I just a I'm really excited to move my narrative
- 7:09Speaker 4: from rolling up the Welcome Matt into where I've been
- 7:12Speaker 4: in my life the last year and a half, which
- 7:16Speaker 4: it's been amazing to be able.
- 7:19Speaker 3: To just be able to give that EP so much life.
- 7:23Speaker 4: Yeah, but I am in a different place in my
- 7:26Speaker 4: life now and I feel like this album is finally
- 7:28Speaker 4: catching people up with that, and I just like it musically.
- 7:32Speaker 4: I think it's sick, I really do, and the songwriting
- 7:35Speaker 4: on it is a step up.
- 7:37Speaker 3: I'm really proud of that.
- 7:38Speaker 4: The musicality is different, and I think it's going to
- 7:42Speaker 4: be for me as an artist and.
- 7:44Speaker 3: Evolution and just to step towards growth. I'm growing up.
- 7:48Speaker 4: I'm thirty one now, you know, and so it sounds
- 7:50Speaker 4: like that, and I'm really proud that I'm still evolving
- 7:54Speaker 4: from the girl that sings love Me like You mean.
- 7:55Speaker 1: It, which obviously is still important to you because it
- 7:59Speaker 1: got you where you're at put but life is life's.
- 8:02Speaker 2: A little different.
- 8:03Speaker 3: Different.
- 8:03Speaker 1: Yeah, you just put out a song, and I want
- 8:06Speaker 1: to say the lyric video came out a couple of
- 8:08Speaker 1: days ago too, right, Yeah, two things.
- 8:09Speaker 2: For the song.
- 8:10Speaker 1: Two things tell us the backstory on that and you
- 8:13Speaker 1: I'd imagine you get to pick These are called like
- 8:16Speaker 1: instant grat tracks or whatever, right, Yeah, so it's essentially
- 8:18Speaker 1: like it's a sampler album before the album. Yeah, why
- 8:23Speaker 1: tell us the backstory on the song and why you
- 8:24Speaker 1: decided that this deserved to kind of be part of that.
- 8:28Speaker 3: Well before this record.
- 8:30Speaker 4: The songs that you put out before an album are
- 8:32Speaker 4: like the ones that you're like, Man, I hope this
- 8:34Speaker 4: goes viral on TikTok, you know, like and I fully
- 8:37Speaker 4: played that game, and I'm not this time.
- 8:39Speaker 3: I think for me.
- 8:40Speaker 4: We put out Sorry Mom, we put out Cowboys Cry
- 8:43Speaker 4: to You, obviously, and then two things, and then there's
- 8:45Speaker 4: one more before the album comes out.
- 8:47Speaker 3: And they're not the bops.
- 8:49Speaker 4: They're not the ones that we're gonna like scream sing together,
- 8:51Speaker 4: but they are like the cornerstone storytelling of the record,
- 8:55Speaker 4: which I wanted to show people before the whole thing
- 8:58Speaker 4: comes out. Two things years ago in therapy, like five
- 9:02Speaker 4: years ago in therapy, A long time ago in therapy,
- 9:05Speaker 4: my therapist was like, I need answers, Like I'm a
- 9:09Speaker 4: very I'm like, help me understand the situation. How do
- 9:12Speaker 4: I get here? I just need an explanation for everything.
- 9:16Speaker 4: And she's like, hey, sometimes two things can be true.
- 9:19Speaker 4: You can be happy and sad at the same time,
- 9:21Speaker 4: Like there's duality to life. You have to give space
- 9:23Speaker 4: to more than one thing. And that phrase has just
- 9:26Speaker 4: helped me a lot, just help sort things and compartmentalize
- 9:30Speaker 4: when I need to and all that. And so the
- 9:33Speaker 4: song is about this moment in a newer relationship where
- 9:38Speaker 4: you kind of are evaluating the patterns that you're bringing
- 9:42Speaker 4: into it. And so yeah, and you have to decide
- 9:47Speaker 4: whether you're gonna go from fighting with to fighting for
- 9:51Speaker 4: or you're not. And it was a very important song
- 9:55Speaker 4: for me to write and certainly a very important.
- 9:58Speaker 3: Lesson for me to learn.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And you have been open before in like, you know,
- 10:04Speaker 1: learn this in therapy, this and therapy.
- 10:05Speaker 2: Last time we talked, how.
- 10:06Speaker 1: Important is it for you to also live out loud, like, yeah,
- 10:09Speaker 1: see a therapist.
- 10:10Speaker 3: Oh for sure, therapist. I hope it's a luxury.
- 10:14Speaker 4: I understand that fully, but I think if you can,
- 10:16Speaker 4: you should because there's, like you know, there's trauma with
- 10:19Speaker 4: a big ta, the obvious traumas, but then there's lots
- 10:21Speaker 4: of traumas with the little tea and we all have
- 10:23Speaker 4: them and they impact us in the way that we
- 10:26Speaker 4: exist with ourselves and certainly in our relationships. And I
- 10:30Speaker 4: just I am very interested in becoming like the best
- 10:34Speaker 4: version of myself that I can. And I'm fully imperfect
- 10:36Speaker 4: in a million, trillion kamillion ways, but I'm interested in
- 10:41Speaker 4: the growth of me as a human and that's helped
- 10:43Speaker 4: me a lot.
- 10:44Speaker 2: That Funny enough, we've had a lot of conversations.
- 10:47Speaker 1: I feel like mental health and country music is it's
- 10:50Speaker 1: it's bubbling to the top because we've had conversations like
- 10:53Speaker 1: that with Keith Urban. Recently, Park and McCollum is talking
- 10:56Speaker 1: about a weekend mental health to treatment, and even Tay's
- 10:59Speaker 1: doing this life code thing where she's or she's going
- 11:02Speaker 1: to school to like be a life coach.
- 11:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I ain't a life coach. My life coach help.
- 11:08Speaker 2: Me and I'll be the manager.
- 11:14Speaker 1: But I want to I want to commend you for
- 11:16Speaker 1: that because even as a guy, it's so tough to
- 11:20Speaker 1: get to the therapy conversation because even for obviously for men,
- 11:24Speaker 1: but for women too, there's almost like, oh I saw
- 11:25Speaker 1: a therapist and the first reaction you're going to think is,
- 11:28Speaker 1: of course you did crazy, But it's I think it's
- 11:31Speaker 1: so important to like normalize it.
- 11:32Speaker 2: So I wanted to commend you for that.
- 11:35Speaker 1: Tell us a little bit about the album, and obviously
- 11:38Speaker 1: you just dropped patterns, right, so that's obviously there's a
- 11:41Speaker 1: little bit of life to that.
- 11:43Speaker 4: Yeah, the whole thing is I mean, it's like my
- 11:48Speaker 4: other records, it's the last year and a half of
- 11:50Speaker 4: my life highlighted and bookmarked, and it's a lot of
- 11:54Speaker 4: I think this thing happens when you turn thirty maybe
- 11:56Speaker 4: it's like the turn of every decade, but where you're like, okay,
- 11:59Speaker 4: it's not life here I am.
- 12:02Speaker 3: How did I get here? What's my own doing? How
- 12:04Speaker 3: did I contribute? Okay? Right, all right? That was not
- 12:08Speaker 3: my best work.
- 12:09Speaker 4: Okay, So if I don't want to have this exact
- 12:12Speaker 4: thought in ten years, what do I need to change?
- 12:14Speaker 4: And then in my like most interpersonal relationships, what do
- 12:17Speaker 4: I need to challenge? And it takes you through that whole,
- 12:21Speaker 4: that whole journey, and some of it is very introspective
- 12:26Speaker 4: and a little heady, and some of it's like a
- 12:29Speaker 4: bop and we're just vibing.
- 12:32Speaker 3: And I'm very proud of it.
- 12:35Speaker 1: Knowing how honest and raw your music has been as
- 12:39Speaker 1: of late, was it important for you to get the
- 12:42Speaker 1: bops out there again?
- 12:45Speaker 3: Well, listen, I.
- 12:46Speaker 1: Love a bop for sure.
- 12:47Speaker 4: I love a bob and I love a live show,
- 12:49Speaker 4: and so you need some uptim posts for the live show.
- 12:51Speaker 4: But my favorite songs on this record are not the bops.
- 12:55Speaker 3: I don't think really.
- 12:57Speaker 4: Now, oh but I think I just like my little
- 13:00Speaker 4: songwriter hard I'm like, give me the ballad, you know,
- 13:03Speaker 4: give me the give me the thing that's gonna make
- 13:04Speaker 4: me cry, so.
- 13:05Speaker 1: When obviously we've heard Cowboys cry too, an emotional song.
- 13:10Speaker 2: Uh, your tech.
- 13:11Speaker 1: It feels like you're telling a story, but not necessarily
- 13:15Speaker 1: your story, because it's you're saying, hey, it's all good,
- 13:17Speaker 1: like cry. What story out of out of this album
- 13:22Speaker 1: would you say was the toughest to pull out of you?
- 13:26Speaker 2: Regardless of how involved.
- 13:27Speaker 1: You were with the right or the original idea, what
- 13:30Speaker 1: was the toughest, Because I mean, at some point, every
- 13:33Speaker 1: song or every artist has a song where they're like,
- 13:36Speaker 1: I cried, but it's done.
- 13:38Speaker 2: Here you go.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:40Speaker 4: There's a song called Beg for Your Love that I
- 13:41Speaker 4: think is probably the most raw, and even on the record.
- 13:47Speaker 4: It was the morning that we wrote it and it's
- 13:50Speaker 4: the demo and we have one microphone. I ripped off
- 13:53Speaker 4: my long fake nails to play guitar that morning, and
- 13:57Speaker 4: you hear the fire where any tennessee you hear the
- 14:00Speaker 4: fire in the background, and I'm just like picking away
- 14:02Speaker 4: at a guitar.
- 14:05Speaker 3: And that's what ended up on the record. It's like
- 14:07Speaker 3: very very.
- 14:09Speaker 4: It's very imperfect, and it's very raw, and the song
- 14:14Speaker 4: itself is as well. And I think it's a really
- 14:17Speaker 4: important message for for women, specifically, especially in a situation
- 14:24Speaker 4: coming off of like a big breakup that I'm proud
- 14:27Speaker 4: to tell, but it was it was definitely hard to write.
- 14:31Speaker 3: That's all I got.
- 14:32Speaker 2: I can feel it, though. I can't wait.
- 14:35Speaker 1: When you think about getting on stage, you're obviously the
- 14:38Speaker 1: MSG show. What are what are other shows and other
- 14:41Speaker 1: things you're looking forward to once the album comes out?
- 14:45Speaker 3: Tour? I need tour.
- 14:47Speaker 4: I'm like, I feel like this year has been amazing
- 14:50Speaker 4: because I've had I've had time to write the record
- 14:53Speaker 4: and live life and and do the voice and do
- 14:56Speaker 4: all these other things.
- 14:57Speaker 3: But I miss singing like I'm a singer, you know,
- 15:00Speaker 3: And so I'm really excited to just get back.
- 15:04Speaker 4: On the road and really remember that feeling of not
- 15:08Speaker 4: only writing the music, but like sharing it and feeling
- 15:10Speaker 4: that connection with people. And that's why we make records,
- 15:14Speaker 4: is to share them with people and have that moment
- 15:17Speaker 4: of connection.
- 15:17Speaker 3: So I've really missed that. I'm really excited for that.
- 15:20Speaker 2: How do you as.
- 15:22Speaker 1: If somebody's just listening to you talk about the music
- 15:25Speaker 1: for the first time right now? I mean, you can
- 15:26Speaker 1: tell how passionate you are about the songwriting and about again,
- 15:30Speaker 1: you're a singer.
- 15:31Speaker 3: Yeah, I'm a singer.
- 15:34Speaker 2: How hard is that? We'll clip that?
- 15:37Speaker 1: How hard is that? As you could last time we
- 15:41Speaker 1: caught up. I mean, you're getting asked to be in endorsements. Here,
- 15:45Speaker 1: the voice of this, the face of this again, the
- 15:47Speaker 1: coffee that, all this stuff, right, how do you make
- 15:50Speaker 1: sure that the music stays top priority for you? Because
- 15:54Speaker 1: I'd imagine with all the asks, whether you get your
- 15:56Speaker 1: team gets that could get lost real quick.
- 15:59Speaker 3: Yeah, that's true, that's true.
- 16:02Speaker 4: I think for me, I I'm not one of the
- 16:08Speaker 4: artists that is like, Okay, just show up here and
- 16:11Speaker 4: you're here to do this.
- 16:12Speaker 3: I'm very much so. I I'm what's the word, a
- 16:17Speaker 3: control freak. That's the I'm a control freak.
- 16:19Speaker 4: Yes, something more kind to say about myself, but I'm
- 16:23Speaker 4: a control freak. And so I think for me, at
- 16:26Speaker 4: the end of the day that everything else is coming
- 16:31Speaker 4: because of the music, right, whether it's the cover girl
- 16:35Speaker 4: panteen or the voice or whatever, it's because of the art.
- 16:39Speaker 4: And so I will always protect that and prioritize that
- 16:42Speaker 4: the most.
- 16:43Speaker 3: But it's also fun to play.
- 16:45Speaker 4: It's fun to be able to try acting for the
- 16:48Speaker 4: first time and just see if that feels creatively fulfilling,
- 16:52Speaker 4: or you know, be on the voice and try coaching
- 16:55Speaker 4: for the first time and see if that feels creatively fulfilling.
- 16:57Speaker 4: Because at the end of the day, it's all gonna
- 16:58Speaker 4: it's all gonna help each other. So I think, as
- 17:01Speaker 4: long as there's space for all of it, I'm happy.
- 17:04Speaker 4: But the second that I feel like I don't have
- 17:06Speaker 4: time to write or live a life to write about,
- 17:09Speaker 4: then I'll wave a flag.
- 17:10Speaker 1: So the Voice you're gonna be on starting in twenty
- 17:13Speaker 1: twenty five?
- 17:14Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 17:14Speaker 1: Is this and I don't remember reading? Is this a
- 17:17Speaker 1: temporary deal or is it like you're.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Locked in for a while right now?
- 17:22Speaker 4: I'm just doing this this season twenty seven and it's
- 17:24Speaker 4: so fun. I mean, we're by time this airs, I
- 17:28Speaker 4: think I'll be I'll only have two people left on
- 17:32Speaker 4: my team and then we don't go live until I
- 17:36Speaker 4: think February, So it's crazy.
- 17:38Speaker 2: How is it so you're in taping right now?
- 17:40Speaker 1: Then?
- 17:40Speaker 4: Oh?
- 17:40Speaker 2: Yeah, how is it gone?
- 17:42Speaker 3: It's amazing?
- 17:42Speaker 1: And I know you can't say a lot, but what's
- 17:44Speaker 1: been the biggest not the talent, but just from your seat,
- 17:47Speaker 1: what's been the biggest surprise that you're like I was
- 17:50Speaker 1: not expecting this.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Well. I was really intimidated being in a chair next
- 17:55Speaker 4: to Adam Levine and John Legend and Michael Boublay. Like
- 17:58Speaker 4: I've seen all of them in concert. I'm fans of them.
- 18:01Speaker 4: I grew up more or less on them, and so
- 18:03Speaker 4: to be in the same position, you know, and fight
- 18:08Speaker 4: for these artists against them was terrifying. And I didn't
- 18:13Speaker 4: know them, you know, Like I was like, oh my god,
- 18:14Speaker 4: are they going to be like rock stars? Are they
- 18:16Speaker 4: going to be like who are you? Like, I didn't know,
- 18:18Speaker 4: and they're just I can't say enough about Like we're
- 18:21Speaker 4: on this group chat, it's our little voice group chat,
- 18:24Speaker 4: and it's like I'll send a picture of the dogs,
- 18:26Speaker 4: and they'll send a picture of their kids, and then
- 18:28Speaker 4: they'll be like, Hey, I'm going to stop by the
- 18:30Speaker 4: bakery and grab some cinnamon rolls for today, anyone want anything?
- 18:34Speaker 4: Like It's just so pure and sweet, and I feel
- 18:37Speaker 4: like I got some brothers out of it. So it's
- 18:40Speaker 4: I think that will translate.
- 18:41Speaker 1: As soon as she said group chat and want me
- 18:44Speaker 1: to pick up anything, it made me think of a
- 18:46Speaker 1: lix er.
- 18:48Speaker 2: Have you had a lex or coffee down the street?
- 18:49Speaker 4: No.
- 18:50Speaker 1: So it's at fifth and Broadway, and it's I mean
- 18:53Speaker 1: it's super like modern, like like almost like yeah, bougie
- 18:59Speaker 1: c but there's a there's a strawberry oat milk latte
- 19:04Speaker 1: and the strawberry oat milk macha and I'm telling you.
- 19:08Speaker 2: It's and it's I want.
- 19:10Speaker 1: To say, it's if you walk either way, you walk
- 19:12Speaker 1: into fifth and broad whether it's from Broadway or from
- 19:14Speaker 1: fifth it's in the first floor in the corner, and
- 19:17Speaker 1: it's Okay, dope, it's good.
- 19:20Speaker 4: Strawberry oat milk is all you had to say to me. Yeah,
- 19:22Speaker 4: that sounds really good.
- 19:24Speaker 1: Yeah, it's fantastic. Sorry, that's a d D.
- 19:27Speaker 2: You got the best.
- 19:28Speaker 1: She's like texting for an order. I'm like, that reminds
- 19:31Speaker 1: me of when I park. I'm like, you want me to.
- 19:32Speaker 2: Go grab coffee?
- 19:33Speaker 4: Ah?
- 19:36Speaker 1: You like, like I said, you seem more confident and
- 19:39Speaker 1: not And I don't mean that you weren't confident before.
- 19:41Speaker 1: You're you're just so comfortable and where you're at and
- 19:43Speaker 1: you're so exciting where you're at.
- 19:46Speaker 2: What would you say is.
- 19:47Speaker 1: The biggest difference now versus a handful of years ago
- 19:51Speaker 1: in your preparation in your writing in your recording, I
- 19:55Speaker 1: would say.
- 19:55Speaker 3: The handful of yours.
- 19:58Speaker 4: I would say, every single bit of the last few
- 20:01Speaker 4: years is the difference. I think that I just I
- 20:06Speaker 4: think that I I I've learned a lot about myself
- 20:10Speaker 4: and and what I need and what I can give
- 20:17Speaker 4: in my career, in my.
- 20:18Speaker 3: Relationships, all of it.
- 20:20Speaker 4: I also think that I put less stock in what
- 20:25Speaker 4: is success and I put more stock in like, am
- 20:28Speaker 4: I happy? And that has turned out to be successful.
- 20:32Speaker 4: So I'm going to keep down that side.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Stop life coaching over there.
- 20:34Speaker 1: My god, she was like, she was like this period.
- 20:38Speaker 3: I mean, I still listen.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I still have a little complex if I like read
- 20:41Speaker 4: a bad comment. I'm a human, but I've I'm not
- 20:44Speaker 4: on Reddit anymore, so that's good.
- 20:46Speaker 2: You know, come along, So I host. Do you ever
- 20:52Speaker 2: make it to Pred's games?
- 20:53Speaker 4: I went to the Stanley Cup one time and that
- 20:55Speaker 4: was so much fun.
- 20:56Speaker 3: And that's all we got to get you better.
- 20:58Speaker 1: So I host all the games. So like I'm in
- 21:01Speaker 1: the crowd, giving away prizes and stuff like that. And
- 21:04Speaker 1: and it's funny because every now and again someone will
- 21:07Speaker 1: go to reddick. Everybody has haters. But there was a
- 21:10Speaker 1: couple of people ripping into me about Pred's games, and.
- 21:13Speaker 2: So it didn't bother me. But she looked and she's like,
- 21:15Speaker 2: I'm about to beat some.
- 21:16Speaker 3: Mass I know.
- 21:17Speaker 1: I know.
- 21:18Speaker 4: It was a couple of years ago. I was like, refresh, refresh,
- 21:22Speaker 4: but I don't do that and I don't have Twitter anymore.
- 21:25Speaker 4: You know, you just you find the things that serve
- 21:26Speaker 4: you and then you just cut out the rest of
- 21:28Speaker 4: the down.
- 21:29Speaker 2: I love that.
- 21:30Speaker 1: Uh So when when fans wrapped their arms around this album,
- 21:35Speaker 1: what is what's one thing you hope they take away
- 21:37Speaker 1: from it? Because you just put out a bunch of
- 21:40Speaker 1: music that was super therapeutic and it was music for everybody,
- 21:44Speaker 1: but really talked to to I don't want to say
- 21:47Speaker 1: a small but like, sure's you cast a smaller net
- 21:50Speaker 1: than normaleah specific Obviously this project, from what we've heard
- 21:55Speaker 1: so far, the nets wider and yeah there's more, there's
- 21:59Speaker 1: more to feed on.
- 22:00Speaker 2: Yeah, So what do you hope they take away from
- 22:02Speaker 2: this album?
- 22:04Speaker 4: If you would have asked me this question for any
- 22:07Speaker 4: other record, I would say, I hope they feel empowered
- 22:10Speaker 4: or I hope they feel seen. I want people to
- 22:12Speaker 4: feel whatever they want to feel like. It's just not
- 22:15Speaker 4: my job to tell people what to feel, you know,
- 22:17Speaker 4: And I think.
- 22:18Speaker 3: For me, my biggest goal is that I made sure
- 22:24Speaker 3: to keep the.
- 22:26Speaker 4: Like the songwriting, integrity and the honesty that I found
- 22:29Speaker 4: and welcome at for this album. Yeah, so it is
- 22:31Speaker 4: very much so about my life. My hope is that
- 22:35Speaker 4: I gave as much information as I wanted to, no more,
- 22:40Speaker 4: no less, And so I hope that people don't dig
- 22:42Speaker 4: too much into my story, but they can project their
- 22:45Speaker 4: own life onto it and feel whatever they want to
- 22:48Speaker 4: in theirs.
- 22:48Speaker 3: I think that's the.
- 22:49Speaker 1: Goal that And that was going to be my last question,
- 22:51Speaker 1: but you made me think of something else. The world
- 22:54Speaker 1: is so loud right now, whether it's negativity on social media,
- 22:58Speaker 1: it's political this, it's that. How important is it for
- 23:02Speaker 1: you to just be a healthy distraction right.
- 23:05Speaker 2: Now from that?
- 23:07Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 23:08Speaker 3: I mean that's what music is. It's escapism.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 23:10Speaker 4: Or or it's the thing that makes you feel like
- 23:12Speaker 4: you're sitting on the couch with someone who knows you
- 23:15Speaker 4: better than anyone.
- 23:15Speaker 3: Right, It's it's either way. That's what I love about shows.
- 23:18Speaker 3: It's like it can be either.
- 23:19Speaker 4: You can step into a world for an hour and
- 23:21Speaker 4: a half and literally forget everything else going on. Or
- 23:25Speaker 4: you can step into a world and be like I
- 23:26Speaker 4: heard that preach, same girl, and you know it either way,
- 23:30Speaker 4: And I mean that's what I love going.
- 23:32Speaker 3: To shows for.
- 23:34Speaker 4: So yeah, I mean I hope, I hope that if
- 23:36Speaker 4: people just want to like put their windows down and disassociate,
- 23:39Speaker 4: I got you. But also if you want to get
- 23:41Speaker 4: in your feels and pop a bottle of wine.
- 23:44Speaker 3: Let's get to it.
- 23:45Speaker 1: I can't wait to go to your next show and
- 23:47Speaker 1: go same girl, Same Girl. I'm gonna get as close
- 23:51Speaker 1: as I can in the whole show. Just go same girl, Okay,
- 23:54Speaker 1: same You'll be like I heard you the first time?
- 23:58Speaker 2: Can I sing to everybody else? Show you mind up.
- 24:00Speaker 4: I've always wanted to play the venue across the street.
- 24:02Speaker 4: So if I get to same Girl, wait.
- 24:05Speaker 1: This one or this one because we got are you talking?
- 24:08Speaker 1: Oh you're talking this one over here over there. Yeah, listen,
- 24:13Speaker 1: we know some people. Okay, they're the janitors and I
- 24:16Speaker 1: don't know what that's Listen, you're.
- 24:18Speaker 3: The press game guy.
- 24:19Speaker 2: That's that's true. I'll walk in. I'll be like, I'll
- 24:21Speaker 2: be like, listen to me.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Uh, congrats on the album, Congrats on kicking ass and
- 24:28Speaker 1: the joy that you have career wise, on your face
- 24:31Speaker 1: right now is contagious.
- 24:32Speaker 2: They're very happy for you for that.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Oh,
