- 0:48She's a happy girl.
- 1:01She's a happy girl Praise God's holy name. God promises us rest.
- 1:07Yes, you must work sometimes, and sometimes you must work hard.
- 1:12But remember that at the end, in His time, He offers you rest.
- 1:17His rest is fabulous and complete.
- 1:20When you are tired and weary, you can go to Him, crawl up in His lap,
- 1:24and He will hold you and restore your strength.
- 1:28There is perfect rest and peace found at the throne of God.
- 1:32Rest is always near. It is only a prayer away.
- 1:36Join us in this program, Resting in Him, as Kim Miller of Woman at the Well
- 1:41Ministries takes us through Matthew 11, 28,
- 1:44which says, Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
- 1:51Hello and thank you for joining us in this broadcast of woman at the well ministries
- 1:55and i love how simple christ speaks he says come unto me all ye that labor and
- 2:05are heavy laden and i will give you rest.
- 2:08So often we make things very, very complicated,
- 2:12especially things of the Bible, and you can get some Bible scholars and theologians
- 2:19together, and they will wear you out on complicated matters.
- 2:25When Christ clearly says, a little bit further up in this chapter,
- 2:31that, I thank thee, O Father.
- 2:35Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and
- 2:39prudent and hast revealed them unto babes. What is he saying there?
- 2:44He speaks so that even the youngest and the least knowledgeable among us can understand.
- 2:54And what he's doing is he's saying, you need to focus and concentrate on me and my words.
- 3:02It's not about what man will construe me to have said.
- 3:06It's not about all the complications that people will put in and try to begin
- 3:14to make something so hard that the average person can't understand because they're
- 3:19trying to put themselves in it.
- 3:21They're trying to contribute their effort, to contribute their knowledge,
- 3:26to contribute what it is, their energy.
- 3:29And they're trying to have some part of what God has said when the reality of
- 3:34it is God said it and I believe it.
- 3:36And he spoke it simply.
- 3:39And in this particular passage, he goes on to say that all things were delivered to him by the Father.
- 3:47And no man knoweth the Son but the Father.
- 3:50And then he says, But the Father neither knoweth any man the Father,
- 3:55save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him.
- 3:59The father and the son know each other.
- 4:03And when we are grafted into the family of God through the blood of Jesus Christ,
- 4:08when we accept him and become his children, we are part of the family of God.
- 4:14And he reveals himself to each and every one of us.
- 4:19And it has nothing, absolutely, positively nothing to do with us or our skills
- 4:29or our abilities or our knowledge or our efforts or our work.
- 4:35It is a free gift that God gives to everyone who believes.
- 4:39And it's his grace that enables us to be part of the family of God.
- 4:45And when he speaks to us he speaks as a father who speaks to his child and I
- 4:51don't care how old you are.
- 4:53When you are a child speaking to your parent, they're always speaking to you
- 4:58in love, respect, and in some way to teach you something.
- 5:02And they want you to understand their words.
- 5:06And a parent will speak to a child in a way they can understand.
- 5:10And Jesus speaks to his children in a way that they can understand regardless
- 5:15of their stature in life, regardless of their education, regardless of their intellect,
- 5:21regardless of their wealth, regardless of their socioeconomic state
- 5:25he speaks to them in a way they can
- 5:28understand and he speaks to each and every one of us through that personal relationship
- 5:34that we have with him and he simply says what we need to hear and he gives us
- 5:40all the information that we need to live a successful effective,
- 5:47and abundant life in him.
- 5:50And many of us are plagued by the stress of everyday life.
- 5:56Many of us take burdens upon ourselves that really aren't ours to bear.
- 6:03And though we do need to bear one another's burden, sometimes we create a burden out of nothing.
- 6:08But he says, regardless of
- 6:12your burden whether it's real whether it's
- 6:15one you've created whether it's a mistake that you've
- 6:18made that's resulted in something that is bearing heavily on
- 6:21you he says to bring
- 6:24it to him and he
- 6:27will give you rest he says to
- 6:30take his yoke upon you and to
- 6:33learn of him when you yoke up with something
- 6:36you you have this harness and part of it is on in those days it would have been.
- 6:42The oxen and then on his partner in labor would have been the other part of
- 6:47it and when they pulled they pulled together so that no one was bearing the load,
- 6:55When we yoke up with Jesus,
- 6:59he doesn't do it that way.
- 7:00He says that you take his yoke and he'll take yours.
- 7:06And his yoke is easy for he is omnipotent and all powerful.
- 7:11And he'll come alongside you regardless of where you've been or what you've done.
- 7:17I submit to you, the woman at the well in John chapter 4 comes to the Lord.
- 7:22He knows exactly what she's done. In fact, he tells her that he knows and he
- 7:27tells her not to condemn her, but to let her know, hey, I know all about you
- 7:30and I love you anyway. And he delivers to her her every need.
- 7:35And he says, go back and tell everybody.
- 7:39She had lived in adultery and was currently living in adultery.
- 7:43She was a natural enemy of a Jew.
- 7:46But Jesus loved her as much as he loved anyone else.
- 7:52And so he'll come alongside you. But look at what he says. He says,
- 7:57you got to take his yokes.
- 7:58You got to take him at his word. You've got to believe in him.
- 8:02And he says to learn of him, you need to understand who he is through the precious word of God.
- 8:08The Bible says that the word was made flesh and dwelt among us.
- 8:12He is the living word. and he's
- 8:16given us Genesis to revelations that we may
- 8:19know him and that we may know that we
- 8:21have eternal life and we're able to know the person of Jesus by reading his
- 8:27words and the accounts of his life as we come to pray and we pray with him and
- 8:34we pray to him and we listen to what he has to say we have a real,
- 8:39honest, distinct, personal relationship with the King of kings and the Lord of lords and our Savior.
- 8:46Not because of us, but because of him.
- 8:50And he says, when you learn of me, you'll understand the promises.
- 8:56You'll understand that he said, I'll never leave you nor forsake you.
- 8:59You'll understand that nothing can separate you from the love of God.
- 9:04You'll understand that he'll supply your every need.
- 9:07You'll understand that he will strengthen you to do that which he's called you to do.
- 9:12You'll understand that he will provide where he leads. You understand that he
- 9:17will guide where he leads.
- 9:19You understand that he has a plan for you to prosper you and to give you a hope and an expected end.
- 9:26You'll see that he'll go through the valley of the shadow of
- 9:29death with you you'll see that he'll put his
- 9:32arm of protection around you you'll see that he'll allow you to build your house
- 9:37upon the solid rock of jesus so that you won't slip or slide as you begin to
- 9:43learn of him your faith will grow as you begin to learn of him you'll find it
- 9:47easy to accept his yoke and he says.
- 9:53That he's meek and he's lowly in heart, and you'll find rest.
- 9:58I wonder when he was speaking in that scripture, why he would choose to say, I am meek and I am lowly.
- 10:07Because he's approachable.
- 10:09Though he's all-powerful, though he's all-knowing, he really reaches out and
- 10:17just wants you to feel comfortable with him.
- 10:20It's so hard for me to understand that in the presence of such greatness, I can feel comfortable.
- 10:28And I'm never more comfortable than I am when I am praying.
- 10:33And when I begin to pray and I begin to understand that I am standing in front
- 10:38of an almighty God who loves me,
- 10:41when I realize that Jesus shed his blood for me and that he met my every need
- 10:47before I even knew of him, and my greatest need he took care of while I still wasn't even born.
- 10:53And then when I became born, he still loved me until I could even come to knowledge
- 10:58of loving him and that nothing would separate me.
- 11:01When I understand that I am praying in such presence of greatness.
- 11:10It nearly overwhelms me.
- 11:14But instantaneously, I am flooded with the joy of knowing I can be comfortable
- 11:19there because he bids me come.
- 11:22In Hebrews chapter 4, he clearly says, come boldly to the throne of grace that
- 11:29you may obtain help and mercy in time of need.
- 11:34I can come boldly, not because of who I am, but because of whose I am.
- 11:40And I can take his yoke because he's never going to give me more than I can bear.
- 11:46And he's going to bear the rest of it.
- 11:49And he says, cast your care upon him for he careth for you. Let go of it, my friend.
- 11:58Crawl up in his arms. Read his word.
- 12:01Let the peace that passeth all understanding fill your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
- 12:07Experience that joy unspeakable and full of glory as you learn of him and you
- 12:12draw close to him and you just hand him your life, its goodness and its badness,
- 12:18and you watch him wipe away your burdens,
- 12:21wipe your tears and set you on solid ground, leading and guiding you to that
- 12:28expected end where there are blessings of abundance.
- 12:33Trust him today. He loves you.
- 12:36This I know for the Bible tells me so. Thank you.
