- 0:59SPEAKER_10: Just for Jeffrey.
- 1:00SPEAKER_10: That's for you, man.
- 1:01SPEAKER_10: I love you.
- 1:02SPEAKER_08: Um, we are recording this on a Wednesday night, so this is gonna come out tomorrow morning.
- 1:07SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 1:08SPEAKER_08: Um and and we probably didn't have to.
- 1:12SPEAKER_08: Well, actually, it's probably a good that we did, actually.
- 1:15SPEAKER_08: So so they because of the snowstorm today.
- 1:21SPEAKER_08: Was there a snowstorm today?
- 1:24SPEAKER_08: It snowed like an inch.
- 1:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah, I don't I don't know.
- 1:26SPEAKER_08: Uh Holton, we we were supposed to travel down to Holton.
- 1:30SPEAKER_08: We were supposed to travel down to Holton with the varsity basketball team today.
- 1:34SPEAKER_10: Well, I thought it was last night.
- 1:35SPEAKER_08: No no, it was supposed to be today, and then because of the storm air quotes, oh today, they moved it to yesterday.
- 1:44SPEAKER_08: Oh, that okay.
- 1:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah, which is why we couldn't record the podcast.
- 1:47SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:47SPEAKER_08: And turns out Eli has been sick.
- 1:50SPEAKER_08: Uh, so he he's been home for three days.
- 1:53SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:54SPEAKER_08: Got something, whatever's going around.
- 1:55SPEAKER_08: I don't know what it is.
- 1:56SPEAKER_08: But he um he did not go and play his game.
- 2:00SPEAKER_08: Finn played the game.
- 2:01SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 2:02SPEAKER_08: Uh so Teresa went down there and I stayed here.
- 2:06SPEAKER_08: And um I had two sick kids.
- 2:09SPEAKER_08: Myra wasn't feeling well either.
- 2:10SPEAKER_08: So okay.
- 2:11SPEAKER_08: So we could have done the podcast last night, but it might be a good thing that we didn't.
- 2:15SPEAKER_08: Because there's sickness all through the house.
- 2:17SPEAKER_08: So that's all right.
- 2:18SPEAKER_06: Um so anyway, it happens.
- 2:20SPEAKER_06: It happens.
- 2:21SPEAKER_06: Uh how you been?
- 2:23SPEAKER_10: Good, man.
- 2:24SPEAKER_10: Good.
- 2:24SPEAKER_10: Just wanted to say that uh I was listening to a uh YouTube channel, music channel on the way up.
- 2:31SPEAKER_10: A the hundred greatest hits of the eighties.
- 2:36SPEAKER_10: I want all I want all the millennials and all the Gen Zs right now.
- 2:40SPEAKER_10: If you're listening, I want you to get real close to your get real close to this.
- 2:44SPEAKER_08: Let me know if you're gonna yell.
- 2:45SPEAKER_08: No.
- 2:46SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 2:46SPEAKER_08: Your music sucks, monkey body.
- 2:50SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 2:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 2:52SPEAKER_10: Well, let me qualify that.
- 2:54SPEAKER_10: 98% of it sucks.
- 2:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 2:57SPEAKER_10: There's some good stuff.
- 2:58SPEAKER_10: There's a like in the millennials, they got some good.
- 3:00SPEAKER_08: We talked about how John Mayer had said one time, I think he was talking to Oxford University over in England.
- 3:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:07SPEAKER_08: How he said that um the music of the 80s, regardless of production value, was um complex.
- 3:18SPEAKER_08: More complex and more musical.
- 3:21SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it was.
- 3:22SPEAKER_10: Well, you had to have talent.
- 3:23SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 3:24SPEAKER_08: Uh this AI thing is getting out of control as far as I'm concerned.
- 3:27SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, it's important.
- 3:28SPEAKER_08: I mean, you you go on, I mean I try not to go on Facebook, but you go on Facebook and you see these stories.
- 3:33SPEAKER_10: Yeah, there's a lot of stories that I'm like that are completely made up.
- 3:37SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 3:37SPEAKER_10: I'm like, it's I like the ones where like military member comes home and and dog gets excited or something like that, and he's in full kit, and I'm like, he's not coming home in full kit, man.
- 3:49SPEAKER_10: I mean, he's got his friggin' body armor on with friggin', you know, magazine pouches and his wet.
- 3:54SPEAKER_10: I'm like, who comes home like that?
- 3:56SPEAKER_08: Well, not only that.
- 3:57SPEAKER_08: Okay, so that might not even be AI.
- 3:59SPEAKER_08: That's definitely not AI.
- 4:00SPEAKER_08: That is someone acting it out.
- 4:02SPEAKER_10: No, it's AI.
- 4:04SPEAKER_10: It is?
- 4:04SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 4:05SPEAKER_10: It's it's so unreal.
- 4:06SPEAKER_10: It's just like, you know, forget it.
- 4:08SPEAKER_08: But but people do that to get clicks and and to make money.
- 4:11SPEAKER_10: Well, I've seen that.
- 4:12SPEAKER_10: I've seen like uh like, you know, uh, you know, military member, you know, breaks up fight on bus, and I'm like, this guy's got like long hair and and the uniform doesn't even fit.
- 4:22SPEAKER_10: It's got no patches or insignia or anything.
- 4:24SPEAKER_10: I'm like, right.
- 4:25SPEAKER_10: Yeah, okay, okay.
- 4:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah, that yeah.
- 4:27SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 4:28SPEAKER_10: He must be in the KISS National Guard.
- 4:31SPEAKER_08: Hold on.
- 4:32SPEAKER_08: Wait, where'd it go?
- 4:34SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 4:34SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's the clapping.
- 4:36SPEAKER_08: I didn't want the clapping.
- 4:37SPEAKER_08: I wanted to the moment's past.
- 4:39SPEAKER_08: I wanted that.
- 4:40SPEAKER_08: Um, yeah, I mean, and it's getting out of control.
- 4:44SPEAKER_08: Everything is from the music to the stories to the you know, the movie trailers, you know, that are uh complete fake.
- 4:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 4:53SPEAKER_08: You know, it's just it's anyway.
- 4:55SPEAKER_08: Uh I digress.
- 4:56SPEAKER_08: So uh let's see.
- 4:58SPEAKER_10: But I heard a couple songs on the way up that I had I forgot about.
- 5:02SPEAKER_10: Uh Pet Shop Boys did that remake of um Always on My Mind.
- 5:06SPEAKER_10: Great version.
- 5:07SPEAKER_10: I know, I totally because I saw it on the thing.
- 5:09SPEAKER_10: I was like, why don't I know this song?
- 5:11SPEAKER_10: And then it started playing, you know, I'm like, I still don't know this song.
- 5:14SPEAKER_10: And then it the the words that he started saying, I'm like, holy crap, I totally forgot about this song.
- 5:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you know, because and I'm gonna I'm gonna I'm gonna dial that up because it's a great song.
- 5:24SPEAKER_08: It's a great cover.
- 5:25SPEAKER_10: It's a great, it's a great, it's a great representative representation of 80s synth pop.
- 5:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah, you know what I mean?
- 5:32SPEAKER_08: For sure.
- 5:33SPEAKER_08: Uh let's see, right here.
- 5:36SPEAKER_08: Uh turn it up.
- 5:45SPEAKER_08: And you're thinking to yourself, this is a Willie Nelson song?
- 5:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you're like, well, I after a while, I was like, you know, what if I figured out what it was?
- 5:53SPEAKER_10: I was like, man, this is no different from Willie's version, right?
- 5:58SPEAKER_08: But I like they make it their own, you know?
- 6:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's what you're supposed to do with the cover, you make it your own.
- 6:27SPEAKER_08: And you know, most of the people listening to this in the 80s, most of the kids listening to this in the 80s, they wouldn't connect this to Willie Nelson.
- 6:35SPEAKER_08: No.
- 6:36SPEAKER_08: No, you know, I mean it's like, ah, it's a petchet boys.
- 6:38SPEAKER_08: I love that song.
- 6:38SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 6:39SPEAKER_08: You know it's a country song.
- 6:40SPEAKER_08: Woo! Woo! Yeah, yeah.
- 6:43SPEAKER_10: It's funny that you bring up the 80s because I have a I have a Well, I also I also heard uh uh Save a Prayer by Durand Duran.
- 6:49SPEAKER_10: Oh, that's one that everybody forgets about.
- 6:50SPEAKER_10: I always I I totally forgot about it.
- 6:52SPEAKER_10: I was like, man, this is such a great song.
- 6:55SPEAKER_08: Let me dial that up.
- 6:57SPEAKER_08: See, there it is.
- 6:59SPEAKER_08: I, you know, Durandoran, uh an underrated, I don't people give them enough credit.
- 7:05SPEAKER_08: An underrated band.
- 7:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:07SPEAKER_08: Severely.
- 7:09SPEAKER_08: And again, I think it's production value.
- 7:12SPEAKER_08: I think people try and distance themselves from the production of the 80s.
- 7:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:17SPEAKER_08: You know, the electric drums and the synthesizers and stuff like that.
- 7:20SPEAKER_08: But behind all that, it's great songs.
- 7:23SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 7:24SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 7:47SPEAKER_08: I remember when I was uh kid that you know how people used to have uh especially girls, like Teen Beat Magazine, the Tiger Tiger Beat.
- 7:57SPEAKER_08: I remember there was this one schoolmate of mine, her name was Iona.
- 8:01SPEAKER_08: She had this thing for Simon LeBon of Duran Duran, and she had his all her locker was all Durandoran.
- 8:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:20SPEAKER_08: I was like, oh no, it's amazing.
- 8:22SPEAKER_08: It's great stuff.
- 8:22SPEAKER_08: So good.
- 8:23SPEAKER_08: And it also be because for us, I mean, I think we think it's great.
- 8:28SPEAKER_08: Other people listening to it might not think it's great, but it's it's doubly great for us because it's nostalgic.
- 8:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:34SPEAKER_08: Brings us back to it.
- 8:35SPEAKER_10: And anybody that doesn't think it's great, well, you're just stupid.
- 8:39SPEAKER_08: Absolutely.
- 8:40SPEAKER_08: That's what I was gonna say.
- 8:42SPEAKER_10: The two brain cells in your head going right now?
- 8:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 8:46SPEAKER_10: Let them fight it out and see what happens.
- 8:48SPEAKER_08: I'm glad you brought up the 80s because I have a surprise.
- 8:51SPEAKER_08: I uh I um uh I went to New Hampshire over the weekend.
- 8:55SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 8:56SPEAKER_08: And on the way back, I we stopped and stayed in Lewiston Auburn.
- 9:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah, which is yeah.
- 9:02SPEAKER_08: Um but uh I went to the Bull Moose in Lewiston, I'd never been there.
- 9:09SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 9:09SPEAKER_08: Um, and a very nice store.
- 9:12SPEAKER_08: Um and I picked something up.
- 9:13SPEAKER_08: It's a game we're gonna play a little bit later, but it's right up your alley, trust me.
- 9:17SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 9:18SPEAKER_08: So I'll I'll t we'll talk about that in in a little bit.
- 9:20SPEAKER_08: But I also picked up an album that I'm gonna use for the Wall of Tunes today.
- 9:24SPEAKER_10: Ah.
- 9:25SPEAKER_08: So uh the weekend was fruitful.
- 9:28SPEAKER_08: What I had to do was my son and I drove uh we started at 6 a.m.
- 9:32SPEAKER_08: on Saturday morning and we drove down to New Hampshire uh two different locations and picked up his the rest of his stuff.
- 9:39SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 9:40SPEAKER_08: He's been living in New Hampshire.
- 9:41SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 9:41SPEAKER_08: We picked I had my van and he had his car and we filled them to the brim and drove back up to Lewiston, stayed with his sister-in-law in Auburn, uh, and then drove up the rest of the way on Sunday, but you know, to be took our time 'cause I stopped stopped in Bull Moose in Bangor too.
- 9:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 9:58SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 9:59SPEAKER_08: Of course.
- 9:59SPEAKER_08: Um I didn't want to say this, but I bought an album in Bangor that I already have.
- 10:09SPEAKER_08: I've done that.
- 10:10SPEAKER_08: Well, it's it was did you see you probably don't you're not on Facebook as much as uh as I am, but uh I I posted a thing a week or two ago where I said Can't Slow Down from Foreigner is uh one of the most underrated pop rock albums ever.
- 10:26SPEAKER_08: Um the the the only the only original album they did with with uh Kelly Hansen on vocals.
- 10:33SPEAKER_08: And because I had been listening to it.
- 10:34SPEAKER_08: Oh and it was like this I don't remember seeing that.
- 10:37SPEAKER_08: This is great pop music, pop rock music.
- 10:39SPEAKER_08: And I loved it.
- 10:40SPEAKER_08: And I was like, I'm gonna find this album.
- 10:43SPEAKER_08: And so I went down to Blue Moose and I found it was a tw it was twenty dollars, but it was three albums.
- 10:48SPEAKER_08: So it was it was that album, Can't Slow Down, and it was a a reworking of their greatest hits, I think with Kelly Hansen on vocals, I think.
- 10:56SPEAKER_08: And then a DVD, and it was twenty bucks.
- 10:59SPEAKER_08: So I picked it up.
- 10:59SPEAKER_08: I was talking about, oh, this is awesome.
- 11:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah I get home and I'm about to put it into my iTunes, and I already have it.
- 11:08SPEAKER_08: And then I was like, I looked up at the wall of tunes, I'm like, oh crap, there it is right there.
- 11:15SPEAKER_08: Hey, look at that! Now it's only it's the only it's only the album.
- 11:18SPEAKER_08: I don't have the the greatest hits or the uh DVD that came in that package.
- 11:23SPEAKER_08: Oh, well so I bought the I bought the greatest hits with Kelly Hansen on vocals and the DVD.
- 11:29SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's the way I'm gonna do it.
- 11:30SPEAKER_10: So you still you still got a good idea.
- 11:31SPEAKER_10: Yeah, exactly.
- 11:32SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 11:32SPEAKER_10: So you're still good.
- 11:33SPEAKER_08: And my wife listens to this, she's gonna kick my butt.
- 11:36SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 11:37SPEAKER_08: You owe me 20 bucks.
- 11:39SPEAKER_08: Anyway.
- 11:40SPEAKER_08: Um yeah, and so I picked up a cool game I'll tell you about a little bit later.
- 11:45SPEAKER_08: Um I want to talk about Alex Van Halen and Steve Lukuther.
- 11:48SPEAKER_08: People are blowing this out of proportion.
- 11:50SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I don't know what's going on with that.
- 11:52SPEAKER_10: I just they're just like it's everybody's like freaking out.
- 11:54SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 11:55SPEAKER_08: I kinda I kind of do because they've they've said it, but people are twisting their words.
- 12:00SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 12:00SPEAKER_08: Uh and you know, it's peop people are just doing it to get clicks, which is the the nature of social media.
- 12:06SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah.
- 12:06SPEAKER_08: Uh these days.
- 12:07SPEAKER_08: It's all about clicks.
- 12:08SPEAKER_08: It is.
- 12:09SPEAKER_08: Um, but Alex Van Halen had said he's gonna he's gonna be working on an album with Lucather, Steve Lukather of Toto, who was great friends with Eddie Van Halen.
- 12:18SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 12:19SPEAKER_08: And then this was six months ago?
- 12:22SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it was a while ago.
- 12:24SPEAKER_08: A year ago, something like that.
- 12:25SPEAKER_08: I think it was over the summer, wasn't it?
- 12:26SPEAKER_08: He's he said uh Alex said something that that Luke is the only guy he would trust to go through the tapes.
- 12:33SPEAKER_08: Right, you know, uh with him and and help him arrange some unreleased Van Halen music or something like that.
- 12:40SPEAKER_08: And uh Luke came out a little bit later and said, just so there's clarification, I will never play guitar on a Van Halen album.
- 12:50SPEAKER_10: You could I mean that's like that's like adding to you know the Mona Lisa.
- 12:54SPEAKER_10: Exactly.
- 12:55SPEAKER_10: I'm gonna put a smiley face on the Mona Lisa.
- 12:57SPEAKER_10: That that that's the equivalent of it.
- 12:58SPEAKER_08: He says, he says, I'm gonna I'll help Al out, you know, if he needs me, but I'm I'm never playing guitar on that album.
- 13:04SPEAKER_08: And so that was pretty clear to me.
- 13:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:07SPEAKER_08: Uh and now uh he did a podcast with Nico McBrain of Iron Maiden.
- 13:11SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 13:12SPEAKER_08: He has his own podcast, Metal Sticks or something like that.
- 13:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:15SPEAKER_08: Um and he says, I'm gonna be doing this album with Luke and uh this and that, and and then people just were like, new solo album with Alex Van Halen and Steve Lucarthere.
- 13:26SPEAKER_08: Who's gonna sing?
- 13:28SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 13:29SPEAKER_08: It's like nobody said anything.
- 13:31SPEAKER_08: They're going to go through the Van Halen tapes, find some music that that is uh a great idea, and arrange it and put it together so that it's presentable.
- 13:44SPEAKER_08: Uh and that's it.
- 13:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:46SPEAKER_08: That's all they're gonna do.
- 13:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:48SPEAKER_08: You know, uh whether it has vocals or not.
- 13:51SPEAKER_08: It doesn't matter.
- 13:52SPEAKER_08: It doesn't matter.
- 13:52SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:52SPEAKER_08: It's gonna be Eddie and Alex.
- 13:54SPEAKER_08: I think I'd almost like I'd prefer it without right?
- 13:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 13:57SPEAKER_08: Eddie and Alex, and presumably Wolfgang on bass.
- 14:00SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 14:00SPEAKER_08: You know, I would assume.
- 14:01SPEAKER_10: I would say so.
- 14:02SPEAKER_10: So because he mentioned I some Wolf said something about it too.
- 14:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:06SPEAKER_10: About going through because he owns the studio.
- 14:09SPEAKER_10: Well he lives there.
- 14:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah, he lives there, so he's like he's got total access to 5150 studio now.
- 14:15SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 14:15SPEAKER_08: So I just think people are just just freaking out and blowing this.
- 14:19SPEAKER_10: Well, I think I think I think that just that's just a sign of everybody wants.
- 14:23SPEAKER_08: Everybody wants some.
- 14:26SPEAKER_08: I want some too.
- 14:28SPEAKER_08: Um yeah.
- 14:29SPEAKER_10: Yeah, everybody just wants, you know, something, you know, to remember 80.
- 14:32SPEAKER_08: And we're the I mean, we're I'm I I'm one of the biggest Van Halen Van Halen fans ever.
- 14:38SPEAKER_08: Um and I'm just like, chill.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: Wax.
- 14:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 14:43SPEAKER_08: Just sit back and and wait for it.
- 14:45SPEAKER_08: I mean, it's gonna be a while.
- 14:46SPEAKER_10: Oh, yeah.
- 14:46SPEAKER_10: It ain't gonna happen tomorrow.
- 14:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah, and it's I would say it's not a solo album.
- 14:50SPEAKER_08: It's it's a unreleased Van Halen music, and that's all we can ask for.
- 14:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 14:55SPEAKER_08: Um true, true.
- 14:57SPEAKER_08: And so remember we last week we talked about uh Vinny Vincent, how he's selling his uh C D single for$200 plus shipping.
- 15:05SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 15:06SPEAKER_08: Um and i the whole album.
- 15:08SPEAKER_08: Like Yeah, no, like one song or something.
- 15:10SPEAKER_08: No, no, no, I and I got more in I got it You want to get more info?
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: More info.
- 15:14SPEAKER_08: So the first single, a C D single signed and everything, personalized, is a is two hundred dollars uh plus shipping, and he's only making a thousand of them.
- 15:27SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 15:28SPEAKER_08: But he's got a whole album.
- 15:30SPEAKER_08: Oh he's going to sell every song for two hundred bucks.
- 15:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so he if you if you buy this full album, Guitar Mageddon is what it's called.
- 15:39SPEAKER_08: Terrible name.
- 15:42SPEAKER_08: Ah, that's worth it.
- 15:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:45SPEAKER_08: Money well spent.
- 15:47SPEAKER_08: But I th I think it's so funny because he said today, well not today, when did they post this?
- 15:52SPEAKER_08: January 6th.
- 15:52SPEAKER_08: Is that today?
- 15:53SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:54SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 15:54SPEAKER_10: Yesterday.
- 15:55SPEAKER_08: Yesterday.
- 15:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 15:56SPEAKER_08: Um he would Vincy Vinnie Vincent would rather this is from ultimate classicrock.com, would rather shelve his new Guitar Mageddon album than sell it in a conventional manner.
- 16:07SPEAKER_08: Uh he admits that maybe exactly what happens is he has yet to find enough fans to support his unique and costly release plan for the long-awaited record.
- 16:17SPEAKER_10: This is my shock face.
- 16:22SPEAKER_08: Uh the guitarist was quick to defend his plan against complaints and concerns expressed by fans.
- 16:27SPEAKER_08: He argued that illegal downloading, streaming, and other changes in the music industry over the past few decades made it otherwise impossible for him to get paid fairly for his music.
- 16:35SPEAKER_08: Um He says There's no money releasing a record like this with bootlegging thieves at my door.
- 16:40SPEAKER_08: Unless I get compensated for my work, the album stays unheard.
- 16:45SPEAKER_08: It comes down to this if the fan support is not there, which it does not appear to be, this record will not be released.
- 16:52SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 16:53SPEAKER_10: If this was on video, we could have that meme of Deadpool doing this thing.
- 16:57SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 16:59SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 17:00SPEAKER_08: Don't release it, dude.
- 17:01SPEAKER_08: You know, whatever.
- 17:04SPEAKER_10: What a moron.
- 17:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 17:05SPEAKER_10: Sorry.
- 17:06SPEAKER_10: That's just stupid.
- 17:07SPEAKER_10: The whole thing is just so stupid.
- 17:09SPEAKER_10: Really, really dumb.
- 17:10SPEAKER_10: Oh my word.
- 17:11SPEAKER_10: I mean, that's just somebody who thinks way too highly of himself.
- 17:14SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he says it's one it's it's a classic record.
- 17:16SPEAKER_08: It's the one of the greatest rock records you'll ever hear in your life.
- 17:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah, but we're never gonna hear it now.
- 17:21SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 17:22SPEAKER_08: Exactly.
- 17:22SPEAKER_10: How are we gonna know?
- 17:23SPEAKER_08: So he's been he's trying to build demand for it, which is not working.
- 17:27SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 17:28SPEAKER_10: Not working.
- 17:28SPEAKER_10: Well, I'll pay$200 for a single.
- 17:32SPEAKER_08: Speaking of singles, uh, I know you don't care, but uh whenever we have a new uh a new song come out from a veteran artist, I always like to give it a listen.
- 17:43SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 17:43SPEAKER_09: What do you mean I don't care?
- 17:44SPEAKER_09: Well, but it's Peter Gabriel.
- 17:46SPEAKER_09: You're right, I don't care.
- 17:50SPEAKER_09: I knew that.
- 17:51SPEAKER_09: That's what I mean.
- 17:53SPEAKER_10: I like Peter Gabriel, but I I you know whatever.
- 17:56SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you know.
- 17:57SPEAKER_08: Uh his uh new album is called O.
- 18:00SPEAKER_10: Oh, he's doing the whole full moon slash I.
- 18:04SPEAKER_08: That's right.
- 18:04SPEAKER_08: And uh details the full moon release process.
- 18:08SPEAKER_08: Um the his 2023 album was I slash o.
- 18:13SPEAKER_08: This one is titled O slash I.
- 18:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah, the first single is called Been Undone.
- 18:20SPEAKER_08: Uh Gabriel is gonna release a new song from O I during each full moon of 2026.
- 18:25SPEAKER_08: By the end of the year, he'll have revealed the entire album.
- 18:28SPEAKER_08: Each song will come in dark side and bright side mixes, with a second mix arriving during each month's new moon.
- 18:35SPEAKER_08: Yeah, he's uh that's getting weirder.
- 18:39SPEAKER_08: It's interesting.
- 18:39SPEAKER_08: It's interesting.
- 18:40SPEAKER_08: Anyway, so we're gonna hear the dark side mix of the first single, uh, which again is called Been Undone.
- 18:47SPEAKER_10: Let me give my flashlight.
- 18:49SPEAKER_08: Oh, we're gonna I don't want to hear a commercial.
- 18:51SPEAKER_10: Ah, it's for five guys.
- 18:52SPEAKER_08: That was amazing.
- 18:53SPEAKER_08: That was good guys.
- 18:54SPEAKER_08: Good guitar work.
- 18:58SPEAKER_08: I have I've only been to Five Guys once, and I wasn't so good.
- 19:01SPEAKER_08: I wasn't totally impressed.
- 19:02SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 19:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 19:02SPEAKER_08: Oh, I love it.
- 19:17SPEAKER_11: By the heat of the sound, by the sound of the guns, I've been undone.
- 19:27SPEAKER_11: I've been heard with the real choice of words, have been undone.
- 19:42SPEAKER_11: Yes, I've been undone.
- 19:48SPEAKER_11: The empty soul as I searched for a soul have been undone.
- 19:58SPEAKER_11: The weakness of pain.
- 20:00SPEAKER_11: I've desired to be me and being undone.
- 20:06SPEAKER_10: Me too.
- 20:21SPEAKER_11: I can't.
- 20:24SPEAKER_08: I'm waiting for a big corpus.
- 20:26SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 20:29SPEAKER_11: Like a woman.
- 20:32SPEAKER_11: Keep on a single thread.
- 20:42SPEAKER_11: It seems to unwind and unwind.
- 20:47SPEAKER_11: Unravel cloud.
- 20:58SPEAKER_10: I mean, it's I like it, yeah.
- 21:01SPEAKER_10: I mean, it's not anything spectacular, but it's pretty good.
- 21:04SPEAKER_10: Sounds like Peter Gabriel.
- 21:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:05SPEAKER_10: It sounds exactly from Yeah.
- 21:10SPEAKER_10: It's the McDonald's drive-thru of music.
- 21:12SPEAKER_10: You know what you're gonna get.
- 21:14SPEAKER_08: Exactly, yeah.
- 21:15SPEAKER_11: You know, slaves in the home of the brave.
- 21:19SPEAKER_08: Um Okay.
- 21:21SPEAKER_08: Well, uh, did I say when when that comes out?
- 21:24SPEAKER_10: Uh, the full moon.
- 21:25SPEAKER_10: So that would that just passed.
- 21:27SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 21:27SPEAKER_08: So it must be out already.
- 21:29SPEAKER_08: Must be out.
- 21:29SPEAKER_08: That's well, the single's out.
- 21:30SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 21:31SPEAKER_08: Yep, so this one's out.
- 21:32SPEAKER_08: Um Okay.
- 21:35SPEAKER_08: So we got eleven more to go.
- 21:37SPEAKER_08: I supp I was gonna say, I suppose he's he's gotta keep it interesting in uh you know at his age and and I suppose.
- 21:43SPEAKER_10: You know, you know, yeah.
- 21:45SPEAKER_10: I mean it's good.
- 21:46SPEAKER_10: He's just amusing himself, really.
- 21:47SPEAKER_10: Right?
- 21:48SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 21:48SPEAKER_10: At this point, right?
- 21:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:49SPEAKER_10: He's just like, eh, yeah, I'm Peter Gabriel.
- 21:52SPEAKER_10: After everybody else.
- 21:53SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 21:54SPEAKER_10: You know.
- 21:55SPEAKER_08: Um speaking of the F word, um I I I gotta read.
- 22:00SPEAKER_08: And I wonder uh I don't think he'll mind if I read this to you.
- 22:04SPEAKER_08: I got a uh a really nice and and I think you'll like to hear uh what I said in reply, actually.
- 22:13SPEAKER_08: Um our bass player, T B player.
- 22:16SPEAKER_08: T B player um yesterday afternoon sent me a uh a really nice message.
- 22:23SPEAKER_08: Um and again, I hope he's okay if I read it.
- 22:27SPEAKER_08: He said, Hey my friend, I've been listening to our album, and I just want to say thank you.
- 22:33SPEAKER_08: We disagreed on at times about how the bass lines should go, but you really did give me some creative freedom on your songs.
- 22:40SPEAKER_08: I'm really proud of that album and the way all three of us played.
- 22:43SPEAKER_08: I appreciate you, brother.
- 22:45SPEAKER_08: Hope your holidays were good and you got to spend time with your family.
- 22:48SPEAKER_08: Love you, man.
- 22:49SPEAKER_08: Thank you for letting me be a part of Common Crossing.
- 22:52SPEAKER_08: So really nice, nice message.
- 22:54SPEAKER_10: Oh, he is our brother.
- 22:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 22:55SPEAKER_10: So, you know, I get it.
- 22:57SPEAKER_08: So my my first reply to him was this.
- 23:03SPEAKER_10: Who does?
- 23:06SPEAKER_08: Actually, I I put a heart on the the message that he sent.
- 23:10SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 23:11SPEAKER_08: And then uh I said, dude, have I got a surprise for you and Doug?
- 23:14SPEAKER_08: Won't happen until probably May, but I'm hoping you dig it.
- 23:17SPEAKER_08: I will not tell.
- 23:18SPEAKER_08: I will not tell.
- 23:19SPEAKER_08: Not Earth shattering, but I think it could be cool.
- 23:23SPEAKER_08: That was my reply to him, and I'm not telling you about it either.
- 23:26SPEAKER_08: Uh he says No, I don't want to be part of this podcast.
- 23:33SPEAKER_08: I can't, it's a surprise.
- 23:35SPEAKER_10: I'm out of here, Damien!
- 23:36SPEAKER_08: If it actually happens, if it actually happens and it and it and it it goes we go it goes through, then then uh it'll be it'll be kind of cool.
- 23:50SPEAKER_08: I think it's cool.
- 23:51SPEAKER_08: Um so he he replied, I will look forward to May then.
- 23:55SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 23:56SPEAKER_08: Uh and then I replied, I I wrote him this at 4 30 today because I was waiting for my daughter, I had to go pick up my daughter from ski practice.
- 24:04SPEAKER_08: And I'm sitting in the car and I'm listening to our album on Spotify.
- 24:09SPEAKER_08: You can find Comedy Crossing on Spotify.
- 24:11SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we're on iTunes too, so yeah.
- 24:12SPEAKER_08: Uh so I'm listening to our album on Spotify.
- 24:16SPEAKER_08: And so I replied to him again.
- 24:18SPEAKER_08: I said, also, thanks for the kind words.
- 24:21SPEAKER_08: You are so right that we disagreed.
- 24:24SPEAKER_08: But as I get older and not so stuck up my own tush, I'm so glad I was able to let go in some cases and let you do your thing.
- 24:33SPEAKER_08: Since you said you were listening to our album, I went and did the same.
- 24:37SPEAKER_08: I know we tried to do this once, but I really think we should become the Beatles and be a studio band.
- 24:42SPEAKER_08: In February, I'm hoping to get a new to me computer loaded with logic.
- 24:47SPEAKER_08: I think we should record songs and put them on Spotify.
- 24:50SPEAKER_08: I hate Spotify, but I need to create.
- 24:53SPEAKER_08: I don't need to make money, I need to make music.
- 24:56SPEAKER_08: So F it.
- 24:57SPEAKER_08: You in?
- 24:59SPEAKER_08: And he hasn't replied yet.
- 25:01SPEAKER_08: But who it is, right?
- 25:03SPEAKER_08: But I was thinking about it.
- 25:04SPEAKER_08: You know, we tried to do that once.
- 25:06SPEAKER_08: We had, I don't know, three songs, three new songs that we were working on.
- 25:11SPEAKER_08: And it was during COVID, so yeah, and it was just it was a that was hard.
- 25:16SPEAKER_08: It was a difficult process.
- 25:18SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:18SPEAKER_08: But why can't we?
- 25:22SPEAKER_08: Like there's no reason why we can't.
- 25:24SPEAKER_08: There's no reason why we can't.
- 25:25SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:25SPEAKER_08: I mean, we could we could start from scratch and we could re record those songs.
- 25:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:29SPEAKER_08: Um, you know.
- 25:33SPEAKER_08: I don't know how easy this would be, but we could I could record to a drum track and you give it to you, and you set up your drums and you mic your drums and you play to it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 25:44SPEAKER_08: Then I take out the drum track and your drums are there.
- 25:46SPEAKER_04: Yeah.
- 25:47SPEAKER_08: Same thing with the bass.
- 25:49SPEAKER_08: You know?
- 25:50SPEAKER_08: And we could send it to Josh in Nashville and he could put some guitar on it.
- 25:54SPEAKER_08: Oh, dude, he would kill it.
- 25:55SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 25:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 25:56SPEAKER_08: Um, there's no reason we can't do it except for time.
- 25:59SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 25:59SPEAKER_08: So we just have to carve out the time.
- 26:01SPEAKER_08: But you know, I'm listening to that album.
- 26:03SPEAKER_10: Well, I think we all should just quit our jobs.
- 26:05unknown: Oh man.
- 26:06SPEAKER_10: Are you kidding?
- 26:06SPEAKER_10: That would be awesome.
- 26:08SPEAKER_10: We'll get some uh welfare and you know, some donations.
- 26:12SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 26:13SPEAKER_10: We start a Somali daycare.
- 26:15SPEAKER_10: We'll start a daycar and we'll turn it into a studio.
- 26:18SPEAKER_10: Yes, let's do it.
- 26:20SPEAKER_10: It's working for everybody else.
- 26:21SPEAKER_10: Why not us?
- 26:23SPEAKER_10: Why not us?
- 26:26SPEAKER_10: We're into leering.
- 26:29SPEAKER_10: I love leering.
- 26:30SPEAKER_10: That's a we'll call her out of them.
- 26:34SPEAKER_10: Leering coming crossing.
- 26:37SPEAKER_08: Coming crossing, the leering center.
- 26:39SPEAKER_08: The learing center.
- 26:43SPEAKER_08: Oh my gosh.
- 26:45SPEAKER_08: But yeah, I mean there's no reason why we can't.
- 26:48SPEAKER_08: There's no reason why we can't.
- 26:49SPEAKER_08: It's just it's it's time.
- 26:50SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 26:50SPEAKER_08: And we all have to put in the time.
- 26:52SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 26:52SPEAKER_08: You've got plenty of time now.
- 26:53SPEAKER_08: Well, sort of.
- 26:54SPEAKER_08: I mean, you're you're you still have stuff go going on.
- 26:56SPEAKER_08: Um I don't have more time than I did.
- 26:59SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 27:00SPEAKER_08: I don't have as much time, but in the summer I do.
- 27:02SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:03SPEAKER_08: You know, I mean uh Yeah, we'll have plenty of time in the summer.
- 27:05SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 27:06SPEAKER_08: Um so there's really no reason why we can't do it.
- 27:10SPEAKER_08: And you know, I can do the bulk of it with you here.
- 27:14SPEAKER_08: I mean, we could do it kind of together.
- 27:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:16SPEAKER_08: Um, and then send it off to Shane and send it off to Josh and let them decorate it like a little Christmas tree.
- 27:24SPEAKER_02: Right?
- 27:26SPEAKER_08: So um I I hope he responds to that, and I hope everybody's up for that.
- 27:31SPEAKER_08: I'm up for it.
- 27:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:32SPEAKER_08: I'm in.
- 27:33SPEAKER_08: We need a new Comic Crossing album, and and we don't have to play it anywhere because we don't play our stuff anyway, right?
- 27:39SPEAKER_08: I mean, we do a little bit you and I.
- 27:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:42SPEAKER_08: Let's just put it out there.
- 27:43SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:44SPEAKER_08: Why not?
- 27:44SPEAKER_08: Let's just write original music and put it out there.
- 27:46SPEAKER_10: Put it out.
- 27:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 27:47SPEAKER_10: What I mean, we we're we we have nothing to lose.
- 27:51SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 27:51SPEAKER_10: Literally, we have nothing to lose.
- 27:53SPEAKER_08: We are just pulling from thin air, creating, and and putting it out into the world.
- 27:57SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 27:57SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 27:58SPEAKER_08: So I mean, and if if we don't care about the money, that's good.
- 28:01SPEAKER_08: We just want to make music.
- 28:03SPEAKER_08: I care about the money.
- 28:04SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's true, I suppose.
- 28:05SPEAKER_08: We'll have to money, money! Money! We'll have to do something about that.
- 28:13SPEAKER_08: Um I don't I don't know a couple of drummers, so we'll be good.
- 28:18SPEAKER_08: Do you?
- 28:20SPEAKER_08: Who um okay?
- 28:24SPEAKER_08: So let's uh let's do this because I don't want to do mixtape yet, but I want to introduce this new game.
- 28:30SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay, yes.
- 28:31SPEAKER_08: And I want to know, I want to see if you I want to see if you want to wanna do it uh as a regular thing and how that would look.
- 28:40SPEAKER_08: Could we incorporate, I mean, could we just do it like we do mixtape?
- 28:44SPEAKER_08: We just ask each other questions.
- 28:45SPEAKER_08: Could we like a trivia thing?
- 28:47SPEAKER_08: That's well, it's no, it's a it's uh kind of a trivia thing, but not really.
- 28:52SPEAKER_08: Um it's kind of a trivia thing.
- 28:55SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 28:55SPEAKER_08: Um I found it at Bull Moose, actually.
- 28:59SPEAKER_08: So I'm gonna tell you about it right now.
- 29:01SPEAKER_08: Does it smell like incense?
- 29:02SPEAKER_08: No, it doesn't.
- 29:03SPEAKER_08: Actually, that bull moose didn't smell that bad.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 29:06SPEAKER_08: And the carpets on the floor, it was great.
- 29:08SPEAKER_08: What?
- 29:10SPEAKER_08: That's legit, man.
- 29:11SPEAKER_08: So this is right up your alley.
- 29:14SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 29:14SPEAKER_08: This is called Poorly Explained Movies.
- 29:20SPEAKER_07: Wait, wait, wait, wait.
- 29:21SPEAKER_08: 80s edition.
- 29:22SPEAKER_08: Oh, sweet.
- 29:23SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 29:24SPEAKER_08: So you do have to know your 80s movies.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 29:26SPEAKER_08: Uh, I want to read you the instructions first.
- 29:28SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 29:29SPEAKER_08: Because I think it's it's quite comical.
- 29:32SPEAKER_08: Um, so it says, uh, let's see.
- 29:38SPEAKER_08: The objective.
- 29:39SPEAKER_08: Has your mom ever forgotten the name of a movie that she just watched and decided to describe it to you instead?
- 29:45SPEAKER_08: Well, that's this game in a nutshell.
- 29:47SPEAKER_08: You'll try to identify popular movies from the worst descriptions possible before your friends, family, or any other random strangers that you happen to be playing with can.
- 29:56SPEAKER_08: Uh Difficulty levels.
- 29:58SPEAKER_08: Kind of a movie uh snob, don't worry.
- 30:00SPEAKER_08: There's different ways to play to make the game as hard as you want.
- 30:04SPEAKER_08: Number of players.
- 30:05SPEAKER_08: How many people can play?
- 30:06SPEAKER_08: Well, that really depends on how many people you want to hang out with at any given time.
- 30:11SPEAKER_08: It's pretty flexible.
- 30:12SPEAKER_08: For a truly competitive game, though, you'll need at least three people, and probably less than ten, mainly because that gives us anxiety, just thinking about it.
- 30:21SPEAKER_08: That said, two people are still perfect for playing casual mode, you'll see.
- 30:26SPEAKER_08: Standard mode.
- 30:27SPEAKER_08: This is the way that we like to play.
- 30:28SPEAKER_08: It's fun and challenging, but not super hard.
- 30:31SPEAKER_08: Bonus, you can still be an annoying show-off if you want, earning some bonus points in the process.
- 30:36SPEAKER_08: First, gather three or more people and decide who will be the host.
- 30:40SPEAKER_08: This role rotates after every question, so don't think too hard about it.
- 30:43SPEAKER_08: Just pick someone.
- 30:44SPEAKER_08: This player then shuffles the cards a bit and picks a card at random to announce to the group.
- 30:50SPEAKER_08: The host now reads the poorly written movie summary, which is in the center of the card, out to the group, but not the hint just yet.
- 30:58SPEAKER_08: Players then buzz in by saying their own name.
- 31:04SPEAKER_09: Which I think is funny.
- 31:05SPEAKER_10: That is funny.
- 31:07SPEAKER_10: I love the directions already.
- 31:08SPEAKER_10: Let's let's buzz in.
- 31:09SPEAKER_10: Brian, Doug!
- 31:12SPEAKER_08: Did I win?
- 31:15SPEAKER_08: The uh first gets the chance to guess the correct movie.
- 31:18SPEAKER_08: If they don't give the right answer, the remaining players then get the chance to buzz in.
- 31:22SPEAKER_08: If a player is able to answer correctly before a hint is given, they get two points, and the game moves on to the next round.
- 31:28SPEAKER_08: I'm not saying we do points or anything like that.
- 31:30SPEAKER_10: No, just like we do with mixtapes.
- 31:31SPEAKER_08: Kind of, yeah, yeah.
- 31:33SPEAKER_08: However, if everyone fails to name the correct movie, this the hint and the year of the movie is read out loud by the host.
- 31:40SPEAKER_08: The process continues as before with players buzzing in to answer again.
- 31:44SPEAKER_08: Note each of the players only get two guesses per movie, one before the hint and one after.
- 31:49SPEAKER_08: So guess wisely.
- 31:50SPEAKER_08: The first player to correctly answer after the hint is awarded one point.
- 31:54SPEAKER_08: If no one gets the movie, add the card back to the box and move on to the next round.
- 31:59SPEAKER_08: Another note, you should find a pad of paper to keep score with.
- 32:02SPEAKER_08: That card is now set aside, and the role of host rotates to the right.
- 32:06SPEAKER_08: Play now continues as before with the new host picking a card at the rant at random blah blah blah blah.
- 32:11SPEAKER_08: The game keeps going on as as such until one player reaches five points or some other arbitrary number that everyone agrees on beforehand.
- 32:20SPEAKER_08: Um they are then pronounced the winner and can brag about it accordingly.
- 32:23unknown: Psst!
- 32:24SPEAKER_08: If you like this game, you're in luck.
- 32:26SPEAKER_08: There's way more where this came from.
- 32:28SPEAKER_08: Be sure to check out our original version and all of our other editions.
- 32:32SPEAKER_08: Variation.
- 32:33SPEAKER_08: Want the game to be easier?
- 32:34SPEAKER_08: Give our hint immediately after reading the description and add your own.
- 32:38SPEAKER_08: Want the game to be harder?
- 32:40SPEAKER_08: No hints ever.
- 32:41SPEAKER_08: Not even if they beg you for them.
- 32:43SPEAKER_08: Casual mode.
- 32:44SPEAKER_08: This is probably kind of what we're we're gonna do.
- 32:46SPEAKER_08: Uh first, get some drinks.
- 32:49SPEAKER_08: Well, check.
- 32:50SPEAKER_08: Yep, there we go.
- 32:51SPEAKER_08: This is very important.
- 32:53SPEAKER_08: Now, drink them.
- 32:55SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 32:56SPEAKER_08: Uh, you're doing great so far.
- 32:58SPEAKER_08: Now just sit around with your friends and randomly pick a card.
- 33:01SPEAKER_08: Tell answers as loudly and as passionately as your current level of intoxication allows.
- 33:05SPEAKER_08: Everyone wins except maybe your neighbors.
- 33:08SPEAKER_08: So, I'm just gonna give you an example.
- 33:11SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna pick a card right from the middle of the deck.
- 33:15SPEAKER_08: And so, so let's decide how we can incorporate this, because I think it could be fun.
- 33:22SPEAKER_08: Do we want to include the audience?
- 33:24SPEAKER_08: Do we want to include I don't I don't know how, I don't know how.
- 33:27SPEAKER_08: Maybe it's just you and I.
- 33:28SPEAKER_10: It may have to be.
- 33:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah, it may have to be.
- 33:31SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 33:33SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 33:34SPEAKER_08: This is the description.
- 33:37SPEAKER_08: A Reverend puts out a fire at the library.
- 33:45SPEAKER_08: And again, you have to know your 80s movies.
- 33:49SPEAKER_10: Oh! It's footloose.
- 33:54SPEAKER_08: Good job.
- 33:56SPEAKER_08: The hint would be he hates dancing.
- 33:58SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 33:59SPEAKER_08: From 1984.
- 34:01SPEAKER_10: One of John Lithgow's greatest roles.
- 34:03SPEAKER_08: It is, absolutely.
- 34:04SPEAKER_08: Let me do another one.
- 34:05SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 34:06SPEAKER_08: Because I knew you would be good at this.
- 34:08SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 34:10SPEAKER_08: You'll get this, I think.
- 34:12SPEAKER_08: Four friends roast a marshmallow together.
- 34:18SPEAKER_10: Ghostbusters.
- 34:23SPEAKER_08: I don't want to do them all, because I think we can do this.
- 34:25SPEAKER_08: I'm going to do one more.
- 34:26SPEAKER_08: This is the last one.
- 34:27SPEAKER_08: This is the last one, then we'll move on.
- 34:29SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 34:32SPEAKER_08: Oh, you may not know this one.
- 34:34SPEAKER_10: That's possible, yeah.
- 34:37SPEAKER_08: If if you don't know this one, I'm gonna pick a different one because I want to do one more.
- 34:40SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 34:41SPEAKER_08: An investig because I don't know this one.
- 34:43SPEAKER_09: Okay.
- 34:44SPEAKER_08: An investigator is saved by the time change.
- 34:56SPEAKER_07: It's animated from nineteen eighty-six.
- 35:10SPEAKER_08: The great mouse detective.
- 35:13SPEAKER_08: I wouldn't have got that either.
- 35:15SPEAKER_08: Alright, let me do uh let me do one more.
- 35:17SPEAKER_08: Because I want to do one that you'll get.
- 35:19SPEAKER_08: And then we'll and then we'll show this for the rest of the podcast.
- 35:24SPEAKER_08: Oh, okay.
- 35:25SPEAKER_08: You'll probably get this.
- 35:26SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 35:28SPEAKER_08: Um a five-year-old can't stop watching television.
- 35:33SPEAKER_08: Poltergeist.
- 35:36SPEAKER_08: The hint was, but there's nothing on.
- 35:41SPEAKER_09: Right.
- 35:42SPEAKER_09: So that's pretty cool.
- 35:44SPEAKER_09: I like that.
- 35:45SPEAKER_09: Pretty cool little game.
- 35:46SPEAKER_09: There he poorly explained movies.
- 35:51SPEAKER_08: I love it.
- 35:52SPEAKER_08: A game about identifying movies from the worst descriptions ever.
- 35:56SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 35:57SPEAKER_10: So we'll play that.
- 35:58SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 35:58SPEAKER_10: I knew we were in for a ride when you were like, a reverb puts out a fire at a library.
- 36:02SPEAKER_10: I'm like, what the because there's that one scene, right?
- 36:06SPEAKER_10: Yeah, where they're all burning books at the library.
- 36:08SPEAKER_03: It comes out, what are you people doing?
- 36:09SPEAKER_08: Ah, you know.
- 36:10SPEAKER_08: See, but see, your mind works like that.
- 36:12SPEAKER_08: I would never remember that.
- 36:14SPEAKER_08: That's that one scene.
- 36:15SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:16SPEAKER_08: I would never remember that.
- 36:16SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 36:17SPEAKER_10: I don't know why.
- 36:18SPEAKER_10: It just sticks there.
- 36:19SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 36:19SPEAKER_10: You know, you watch a movie and sticks.
- 36:20SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 36:21SPEAKER_10: I don't know.
- 36:21SPEAKER_08: I mean, I remember the movie and I love the I mean certain aspects of the movie, but I would never have been have been able to pick that one scene out and say, oh, that's footloose.
- 36:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 36:31SPEAKER_08: You just did that.
- 36:32SPEAKER_06: It's weird.
- 36:33SPEAKER_06: So, like I said, I'm weird right up your alley.
- 36:36SPEAKER_06: Okay.
- 36:37SPEAKER_06: Uh, are we ready for this?
- 36:38SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 36:39SPEAKER_06: Yeah, dude.
- 36:40SPEAKER_00: It's time for everyone's favorite part of the show.
- 36:44SPEAKER_00: With everyone's favorites, O'Brien, Doug, Cousin Larry, and yours truly, Miss Judge Ness.
- 36:49SPEAKER_00: Judge Ness, Judge Ness.
- 36:52SPEAKER_00: It's time to play mixtape.
- 36:55SPEAKER_08: Yes, it is.
- 36:57SPEAKER_10: Mixtape! Okay, before we get in too far into the into the witch tape, I have I have an announcement.
- 37:03SPEAKER_08: Oh, oh.
- 37:04SPEAKER_10: I was talking to Miss Judgeness last night.
- 37:06SPEAKER_08: Wait, you actually is a real person you were talking to her?
- 37:08SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 37:08SPEAKER_10: Oh, okay.
- 37:10SPEAKER_10: Miss Judgeness is getting married in September.
- 37:14SPEAKER_10: No.
- 37:14SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 37:16SPEAKER_10: So, congratulations to her and her fiance.
- 37:19SPEAKER_10: So, I'm pretty excited.
- 37:21SPEAKER_10: Uh, I think it's gonna be great.
- 37:24SPEAKER_10: I asked her today if we're gonna have to change her name to Mrs.
- 37:27SPEAKER_10: Judgeness.
- 37:29SPEAKER_08: So we'll see.
- 37:30SPEAKER_08: Uh, I'm curious.
- 37:31SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 37:36SPEAKER_08: I think I know who Miss Judgeness is.
- 37:38SPEAKER_10: I don't think you do.
- 37:40SPEAKER_10: I do.
- 37:42SPEAKER_08: This is just a guess.
- 37:43SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 37:44SPEAKER_08: Because I it's funny that you you you shouldn't have said that.
- 37:49SPEAKER_08: You should not have said that.
- 37:51SPEAKER_08: Because I had someone reach out to me.
- 37:56SPEAKER_08: Uh they were looking for a violinist for their wedding in September.
- 37:59SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 38:00SPEAKER_10: It definitely wouldn't be.
- 38:01SPEAKER_10: I don't think it would be her.
- 38:02SPEAKER_10: You don't think so?
- 38:03SPEAKER_10: No.
- 38:05SPEAKER_10: Negative.
- 38:06SPEAKER_10: Are you sure?
- 38:07SPEAKER_10: Positive.
- 38:07SPEAKER_10: That's just too creepy.
- 38:09SPEAKER_10: Well, a lot of people get married in September, man.
- 38:11SPEAKER_10: I know she wouldn't want a violin.
- 38:13SPEAKER_08: You're you're you're not lying to me.
- 38:14SPEAKER_10: No, I'm not.
- 38:15SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 38:15SPEAKER_10: If it was, I would be like, ah, nah.
- 38:17SPEAKER_08: You're right.
- 38:17SPEAKER_08: She probably wouldn't want, she probably wanted an electric guitar.
- 38:19SPEAKER_08: Yeah, she's she's a metalhead.
- 38:20SPEAKER_08: She's a metalhead.
- 38:21SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 38:21SPEAKER_08: All right, all right, all right.
- 38:22SPEAKER_08: That's just weird that you say that, and then I had that lady reach out to me.
- 38:27SPEAKER_08: All right.
- 38:27SPEAKER_10: Uh tell you.
- 38:31unknown: Okay.
- 38:31SPEAKER_08: So congratulations to Ms.
- 38:32SPEAKER_08: Judges.
- 38:33SPEAKER_08: Yes, that's so awesome.
- 38:34SPEAKER_08: And if you need a violin player, we'll take it from this lady.
- 38:40SPEAKER_08: I don't know any.
- 38:41SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 38:42SPEAKER_08: Actually, I do know one, but.
- 38:43SPEAKER_08: So we're doing past, right?
- 38:44SPEAKER_08: We're doing past, yep.
- 38:46SPEAKER_10: Okay, let me uh pull up the old.
- 38:50SPEAKER_08: And the question was uh something about a Motown song.
- 38:53SPEAKER_10: If you had uh one Motown song to listen to.
- 38:57SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 38:58SPEAKER_08: And we um you and I both picked the four tops.
- 39:01SPEAKER_08: I know that.
- 39:01SPEAKER_08: Correct.
- 39:02SPEAKER_08: Yours was Reach Out, I'll be there.
- 39:03SPEAKER_08: Mine was it's the same old song.
- 39:06SPEAKER_10: Yes.
- 39:06SPEAKER_08: And um Cousin Larry picked uh Marvin Gay.
- 39:09SPEAKER_08: Marvin Gay.
- 39:10SPEAKER_10: Yeah, which I was jealous of.
- 39:11SPEAKER_08: I know.
- 39:12SPEAKER_08: He didn't pick, it wasn't What's Going On though, was it?
- 39:14SPEAKER_10: It was what's going on, wasn't it?
- 39:15SPEAKER_08: No.
- 39:15SPEAKER_08: No, it was uh sexual healing.
- 39:19SPEAKER_08: It wasn't even Marvin Gay.
- 39:20SPEAKER_08: No, we were talking about that.
- 39:21SPEAKER_10: No, but it was Marvin Gay.
- 39:23SPEAKER_08: I don't think no, I don't think it was.
- 39:24SPEAKER_08: He he it he said that uh he was gonna pick Marvin Gay.
- 39:29SPEAKER_08: Anyway, it doesn't matter.
- 39:31SPEAKER_08: What is what does misjudgeness say?
- 39:34SPEAKER_10: Oh Smokey Robinson.
- 39:35SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's right.
- 39:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 39:36SPEAKER_08: Yes, I second that emotion.
- 39:37SPEAKER_10: That's what this week's uh thing.
- 39:43SPEAKER_01: Hey guys, that was a really great week of mixtape picks.
- 39:46SPEAKER_01: Uh I do enjoy some good Motown music from time to time.
- 39:50SPEAKER_01: Um and I I did really enjoy Doug's pick, but I had to go with Larry's pick this week.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: Um the the irony of being on a deserted island listening to the same Motown song and the lyrics being the same old song and the beats been changed and on it.
- 40:08SPEAKER_01: The irony of that one did not escape me, and I I appreciated it.
- 40:12SPEAKER_01: Um we had to go with Larry this week.
- 40:15SPEAKER_01: Uh but I can say I'm super excited to hear the picks for this week because there's a lot of pressure on that first song.
- 40:25SPEAKER_08: Uh she must have wedding on the brain or something because that was my pick.
- 40:28SPEAKER_08: I picked the four tops, it's the same old song.
- 40:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 40:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 40:32SPEAKER_08: Not cousin.
- 40:32SPEAKER_10: That's okay.
- 40:33SPEAKER_08: That's okay.
- 40:33SPEAKER_08: No, that's great.
- 40:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 40:35SPEAKER_08: Um, but that's okay.
- 40:37SPEAKER_08: I'm I'm I'm I do I do uh um relate to the irony.
- 40:40SPEAKER_08: That's one of the reasons.
- 40:42SPEAKER_10: Actually, I never picked up on the irony, so yeah.
- 40:44SPEAKER_10: It's the same old song over and over and over and over and over again.
- 40:47SPEAKER_08: Um all right, so let's do So Congratulations to you and Cousin Larry.
- 40:52SPEAKER_10: Yes, congratulations to me and cousin Larry, because we both kind of Oh, speaking of Cousin Larry, congratulations to him on winning uh our fantasy league this year.
- 40:59SPEAKER_08: Oh, is it over?
- 41:00SPEAKER_08: It's over.
- 41:01SPEAKER_08: I was out I was out so long ago I forgot.
- 41:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you're in last place.
- 41:06SPEAKER_10: So I get a trophy.
- 41:07SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 41:07SPEAKER_10: All right.
- 41:08SPEAKER_10: I will I will award that to you shortly.
- 41:10SPEAKER_10: Bonus.
- 41:10SPEAKER_10: Yep, so bonus.
- 41:11SPEAKER_10: But congratulations, guy.
- 41:12SPEAKER_10: I came in fourth, which is that's pretty respectable.
- 41:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 41:15SPEAKER_10: Respectable.
- 41:16SPEAKER_10: So uh was Dom second?
- 41:19SPEAKER_10: Dom was second.
- 41:20SPEAKER_10: And then John.
- 41:21SPEAKER_10: No, Anna Marie.
- 41:21SPEAKER_10: Oh, Anna Marie.
- 41:22SPEAKER_10: Anna Marie.
- 41:23SPEAKER_10: Oh, and this was her first year doing it.
- 41:24SPEAKER_10: This was her first year, so that's impressive.
- 41:26SPEAKER_10: Beginner's luck.
- 41:26SPEAKER_08: That's impressive.
- 41:27SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 41:27SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 41:28SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 41:29SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 41:30SPEAKER_08: All right, so present.
- 41:32SPEAKER_08: I'll be interested to see if mine is the same as Cousin Larry's.
- 41:36SPEAKER_10: Cousin Larry, mixtape.
- 41:37SPEAKER_10: Well, normally I would pick Highway to Hell by ACDC, or maybe Born to We Be Wild by Steppenwolf.
- 41:43SPEAKER_10: But I'm pretty sure we have had similar questions before in which I chose those songs, so I'm going to try and branch out a little.
- 41:51SPEAKER_10: I was walking on the treadmill the other day and listening to Deep Purple's When We Rock.
- 41:55SPEAKER_10: We rock, and when we roll, we roll on cassette tape, which is essentially a greatest hits album.
- 42:02SPEAKER_10: The song Highway Star seems like a good choice to start a road trip, so I'll go with that.
- 42:08SPEAKER_10: Honorable mention to Iggy Pop and the Passenger, probably possibly my favorite Iggy tune.
- 42:16SPEAKER_06: Can I just tell you right now?
- 42:18SPEAKER_06: You were gonna do that?
- 42:18SPEAKER_06: Is it no, this is mine.
- 42:20SPEAKER_06: Is it?
- 42:20SPEAKER_06: I picked it.
- 42:24SPEAKER_06: Yep, this was so.
- 42:25SPEAKER_06: Do I have to pick another one?
- 42:26SPEAKER_06: I don't know.
- 42:30SPEAKER_08: I should have had a backup.
- 42:37SPEAKER_08: This is the perfect.
- 43:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 43:28SPEAKER_08: That was that was my pick.
- 43:29SPEAKER_08: That was how we start.
- 43:31SPEAKER_08: So, in the interest of this game, you're gonna pick another one.
- 43:34SPEAKER_08: I'm gonna pick another one.
- 43:35SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 43:35SPEAKER_08: I just thought of it.
- 43:37SPEAKER_08: Um, so so I'll let you do yours.
- 43:39SPEAKER_10: Well, mine is Metallica, wherever I may roam.
- 43:43SPEAKER_08: Oh, that's a great one.
- 43:45SPEAKER_08: Just the just the riff on that.
- 43:48SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 43:48SPEAKER_08: And the just the just the thickness of that riff, man.
- 43:51SPEAKER_08: My gosh.
- 44:05SPEAKER_10: So I figured because it starts off slow.
- 44:07SPEAKER_06: Yeah.
- 44:08SPEAKER_10: This is like you pulling out of your driveway.
- 44:10SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 44:11SPEAKER_10: You know, actually to me this is loading up getting in the car.
- 44:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 44:16SPEAKER_10: No, here's seatbelt comes on.
- 45:39SPEAKER_08: I know a lot of Metallica fans don't like this album.
- 45:44SPEAKER_08: But I love this album.
- 45:45SPEAKER_10: I I do too.
- 45:46SPEAKER_10: I mean, I remember when I got it when it first came out.
- 45:50SPEAKER_10: I was out in 29 Palms, California.
- 45:53SPEAKER_10: And I l I played the crap out of this tape.
- 45:56SPEAKER_10: Well, you know, I think over I mean over and over and over and over and over and over and over.
- 46:00SPEAKER_08: I think if you're a if you s if you were a metallic Metallica fan that started from the beginning, right?
- 46:05SPEAKER_08: With the Kill Em All and all that stuff.
- 46:07SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:07SPEAKER_08: Um, you were a fan of the band.
- 46:10SPEAKER_08: This album, with Bob Rock's help, just made them sound bigger.
- 46:16SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 46:16SPEAKER_08: You know what I mean?
- 46:17SPEAKER_08: Huge.
- 46:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah, yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 46:21SPEAKER_08: Um yeah.
- 46:23SPEAKER_08: Good choice.
- 46:25SPEAKER_08: Okay.
- 46:25SPEAKER_08: So we have Highway Star from Deep Purple, uh, Great Minds, think alike.
- 46:30SPEAKER_08: We have Wherever I May Roam from Metallica.
- 46:33SPEAKER_08: And this, I know we've used this song before.
- 46:36SPEAKER_08: Metallica rules! We've we've used this song before, but I'm gonna use it again.
- 46:43SPEAKER_03: Yes!
- 46:48SPEAKER_08: Speaking of chicken foot, chicken foot and big foot.
- 47:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah.
- 47:50SPEAKER_08: So I mean, come on.
- 47:51SPEAKER_08: I was gonna pick um I was gonna do a can't drive fifty-five.
- 47:53SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, a bigger one.
- 47:54SPEAKER_08: Fagar as well.
- 47:55SPEAKER_08: But but I think this is uh this every time this comes on and I'm in the car, come on.
- 47:59SPEAKER_10: Oh, you gotta crank it, man.
- 48:00SPEAKER_10: Come on.
- 48:01SPEAKER_10: Even if it's January, you're rolling the windows down.
- 48:04SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 48:04SPEAKER_10: You're like, yeah!
- 48:06SPEAKER_08: So that's uh that's my pick.
- 48:07SPEAKER_08: Chickenfoot's Big Foot.
- 48:09SPEAKER_08: Uh of course I couldn't do Highway Star because Larry and I am the same person.
- 48:14SPEAKER_08: Once again.
- 48:14SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 48:15SPEAKER_08: Um, and yours was wherever I'm Ray Rome from Metallica, and of course, Highway Star from Deep Purple uh is Larry's pick.
- 48:21SPEAKER_08: So there you go.
- 48:22SPEAKER_08: There you go, Miss Judgeness.
- 48:24SPEAKER_08: There you go.
- 48:24SPEAKER_08: Good luck! Yeah, that's I would say that's a difficult job.
- 48:28SPEAKER_08: Wouldn't you?
- 48:28SPEAKER_10: Yeah, yeah.
- 48:29SPEAKER_10: I don't envy her this week.

- 54:26SPEAKER_08: And the packaging is fantastic.
- 54:29SPEAKER_08: Um and I even get look at this.
- 54:32SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 54:33SPEAKER_08: Mr.
- 54:34SPEAKER_08: Big Big Finish sticker.
- 54:35SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 54:36SPEAKER_08: Alright.
- 54:37SPEAKER_08: I haven't even looked at the ladder notes yet.
- 54:38SPEAKER_08: I just put it into my iTunes, but I mean, w you you asked for iconic songs.
- 54:43SPEAKER_08: I mean to a fan of the band.
- 54:46SPEAKER_10: Yeah, maybe iconic.
- 54:47SPEAKER_08: You know, like and of course the virtuosos would be Paul Gilbert on guitar, Billy Sheehan.
- 54:58SPEAKER_08: Paul Gilbert was in Alcatraz.
- 54:59SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 55:00SPEAKER_08: And um I think uh Cacophony Billy Sheehan was in David Lee Roth's band.
- 55:09SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 55:10SPEAKER_08: And Talas, I think.
- 55:13SPEAKER_08: Pat Torpey was in a famous band too.
- 55:16SPEAKER_10: Was he?
- 55:17SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 55:18SPEAKER_10: I don't remember that.
- 55:20SPEAKER_08: Uh I want to look it up.
- 55:22SPEAKER_08: Hold on.
- 55:28SPEAKER_08: This is their first single, addicted to that rush.
- 56:06SPEAKER_08: Addicted to that rush.
- 56:09SPEAKER_08: Uh, I guess I was wrong.
- 56:10SPEAKER_08: Pat Torpe played for a lot of different people.
- 56:13SPEAKER_08: Um, but his first big uh job was with Mr.
- 56:18SPEAKER_08: Big.
- 56:20SPEAKER_08: When I say Mr.
- 56:21SPEAKER_08: Big, I'm a big job.
- 56:22SPEAKER_08: I mean he played for Mike and the Mechanics, he played for Belinda Carlisle, Robert Palmer.
- 56:27SPEAKER_08: You know, he played for a lot of people.
- 56:29SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 56:29SPEAKER_08: But uh the first big band that he was in was this one.
- 56:33SPEAKER_08: Uh let me play a song that somebody actually listening might know.
- 56:40SPEAKER_08: Oh, I love this song.
- 56:41SPEAKER_08: So do I.
- 56:42SPEAKER_08: They had to do the ballads, right?
- 56:44SPEAKER_08: I mean, got him, man.
- 56:46SPEAKER_08: Yep.
- 56:48SPEAKER_08: This is the intro, so you may not recognize it, but you will.
- 57:25SPEAKER_10: I want you to pick up on something because playing in Japan is a very interesting thing because they are so polite.
- 57:32SPEAKER_08: Yes.
- 57:33SPEAKER_10: Because when you're actually playing, they are silent.
- 57:36SPEAKER_08: Yeah, the fact that they were clapping right there.
- 57:38SPEAKER_10: Yeah, they they they only cheered between the end of the solo and the beginning of the song.
- 57:44SPEAKER_10: Yep.
- 57:44SPEAKER_10: And then they were immediately quiet again.
- 57:46SPEAKER_10: And that's that's what like look listen.
- 57:49SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you can't hear any crowd noise that's all.
- 57:52SPEAKER_12: Where is I guess today?
- 57:56SPEAKER_12: You and I could use it.
- 57:58SPEAKER_08: I'm looking at the I'm looking at the booklet right now.
- 58:00SPEAKER_08: It's fantastically put together.
- 58:10SPEAKER_08: Or that's Eric Martin on vocals.
- 58:26SPEAKER_08: Uh playing drums uh in place of um Pat Torpy is Nick Deverglio.
- 58:34SPEAKER_08: De Verglio.
- 58:36SPEAKER_08: I'm not sure.
- 58:37SPEAKER_08: I've never heard of him.
- 58:38SPEAKER_08: I never heard of him.
- 58:39SPEAKER_08: Does a great job.
- 58:40SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 58:42SPEAKER_08: Um, and I'll play another hit song.
- 58:45SPEAKER_08: This was so so Mr.
- 58:47SPEAKER_08: Big is a big loud rock band.
- 58:49SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 58:49SPEAKER_08: But they hit their their first huge hit was a ballad, of course.
- 58:54SPEAKER_08: And it was this one.
- 58:55SPEAKER_13: I'm the one who wants I'm proud to be to be with you.
- 59:03SPEAKER_13: Hold on, little girl.
- 59:06SPEAKER_13: Show me what she is done to you.
- 59:11SPEAKER_13: A broken heart can't be that bad when it's true.
- 59:15SPEAKER_13: It's true.
- 59:21SPEAKER_04: What uh what is happening?
- 59:46SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that was huge for them.
- 59:48SPEAKER_08: That was a that was MTV as well.
- 59:51SPEAKER_08: Played that uh video a little bit.
- 59:54SPEAKER_08: Um there is a there is a couple of encores that I wanna share just a piece of.
- 1:00:02SPEAKER_08: Um I don't know if you know Humble Pies Thirty Days in the Hole.
- 1:00:05SPEAKER_08: Oh yeah.
- 1:00:07SPEAKER_12: A one, two, three, four, and the hole!
- 1:00:12SPEAKER_10: This was on the ad of their first album.
- 1:00:21SPEAKER_02: Thirty days in the hole!
- 1:00:23SPEAKER_08: And I know that uh um so I mentioned that Billy Sheehan was in uh David Lee Roth's band.
- 1:00:30SPEAKER_08: They'd do Shy Boy.
- 1:00:31SPEAKER_08: Oh, do they?
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:00:32SPEAKER_08: Wow.
- 1:00:33SPEAKER_08: Um let's see.
- 1:00:35SPEAKER_10: I've never done Mr.
- 1:00:36SPEAKER_10: Big.
- 1:00:39SPEAKER_08: Uh so this is another one of their encores.
- 1:00:41SPEAKER_08: There was three encores.
- 1:00:43SPEAKER_03: One, two, one, two, three, good go!
- 1:00:53SPEAKER_06: We used to do this song.
- 1:00:54SPEAKER_06: Oh yeah.
- 1:00:57unknown: I was feeling so bad.
- 1:01:00SPEAKER_08: Oh, and it's Paul singing.
- 1:01:02SPEAKER_08: Nice.
- 1:01:11unknown: Can you tell me what feel me?
- 1:01:16unknown: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 1:01:28SPEAKER_08: All right, and then they ended the concert with this.
- 1:01:35SPEAKER_12: Let's let the music talk about.
- 1:02:34SPEAKER_08: Baba O'Reilly from The Who.
- 1:02:37SPEAKER_08: Um It's uh you know, I again I hadn't listened to it j until just now.
- 1:02:43SPEAKER_08: I just I just put it in my iTunes just before you got here.
- 1:02:46SPEAKER_08: I think it's great.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_10: Oh yeah.
- 1:02:47SPEAKER_08: Um there is a uh Billy Sheehan bass solo, of course.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_08: Of course there is.
- 1:02:51SPEAKER_08: There's a Paul Gilbert guitar solo.
- 1:02:53SPEAKER_08: Oh, of course.
- 1:02:54SPEAKER_08: Um no drum solo.
- 1:02:57SPEAKER_10: Interesting.
- 1:03:01SPEAKER_10: I bet it packed up that guy.
- 1:03:07SPEAKER_08: Oh, did you hear what Gene Simmons said about Peter Chris?
- 1:03:10SPEAKER_08: Did you read that?
- 1:03:11SPEAKER_08: No.
- 1:03:12SPEAKER_08: Oh.
- 1:03:14SPEAKER_08: I wanna I wanna look that up for a bit because uh I think Was it in response to his new album?
- 1:03:23SPEAKER_08: Uh no, it was in response to um well he's he's talking about how Peter Chris really had nothing to do.
- 1:03:33SPEAKER_08: There was no songwriting.
- 1:03:35SPEAKER_08: You know, he gets credit for the song Beth.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_08: Right.
- 1:03:38SPEAKER_08: And a couple other ones.
- 1:03:39SPEAKER_08: He didn't write Beth, he just sang it.
- 1:03:41SPEAKER_08: Oh, right.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:03:42SPEAKER_08: So, but I thought this was you know, we were just making fun of the fact that there's a drum solo.
- 1:03:48SPEAKER_08: I thought this was kind of uh I mean it's Gene Simmons, so he he kind of salt.
- 1:03:54SPEAKER_08: Yeah, take it with a grain of salt.
- 1:03:56SPEAKER_08: Um let's see if it's in this article.
- 1:04:00SPEAKER_08: Uh okay, so he said Peter is always family, but it's time for the truth.
- 1:04:09SPEAKER_08: Peter does not write songs, he doesn't play a musical instrument.
- 1:04:14SPEAKER_08: Drums are not a musical instrument by definition.
- 1:04:18SPEAKER_08: They're called a percussive instrument.
- 1:04:20SPEAKER_08: He's not wrong.
- 1:04:22SPEAKER_08: Well, I mean, there's there's pitched percussion and there's unpitched percussion.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:04:27SPEAKER_08: You know, I mean, percussion is an instrument.
- 1:04:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah, you can I mean you could pitch drums.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:04:32SPEAKER_08: So uh but really important, sometimes extremely important in a band.
- 1:04:36SPEAKER_08: It was for it was for us, but you cannot play a drum fill that could be copyrighted.
- 1:04:41SPEAKER_08: But you can come up with a riff that you can own and a melody and a lyric, those can be copyrighted.
- 1:04:47SPEAKER_08: But nothing you do on drums will prevent anybody else from directly copying whatever you did and applying it to another song.
- 1:04:53SPEAKER_08: Okay, that's number one.
- 1:04:54SPEAKER_08: Number two, as far as I know, Peter plays no other instruments that I've ever seen.
- 1:04:58SPEAKER_08: Not keyboards, six-string instruments.
- 1:05:00SPEAKER_08: Peter's got a great whiskey voice in the early days.
- 1:05:03SPEAKER_08: So, who actually wrote Beth?
- 1:05:06SPEAKER_08: Stan Pendridge was with Peter in a group called Chelsea.
- 1:05:09SPEAKER_08: They had a record out, actually, I think it was on MCA.
- 1:05:12SPEAKER_08: So Peter did not write Beth.
- 1:05:13SPEAKER_08: Peter did not write Baby Driver, Stan Pendridge wrote that.
- 1:05:18SPEAKER_08: Okay, I Okay, that's well, you know, whatever.
- 1:05:21SPEAKER_08: I just didn't like what he said about drummers.
- 1:05:24SPEAKER_10: That's James Emmons.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_10: I know.
- 1:05:25SPEAKER_08: It's not like he's a bass prodigy.
- 1:05:27SPEAKER_08: You know, I know we joke about, you know, uh what do you call a guy in the room with a bunch of musicians?
- 1:05:33SPEAKER_08: The drummer.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:05:34SPEAKER_08: You know, we joke about it.
- 1:05:36SPEAKER_08: But the drummers are just as much a musician as anybody else, if not more in some cases.
- 1:05:42SPEAKER_08: You know, I think.
- 1:05:44SPEAKER_08: You don't agree?
- 1:05:45SPEAKER_10: Well no, I mean the groove is what's gonna shake asses.
- 1:05:49SPEAKER_10: Actually, yes.
- 1:05:50SPEAKER_10: I mean that's what I'm saying.
- 1:05:51SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I mean you can play guitar all day long, but who's gonna really dance to it?
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:05:56SPEAKER_10: You know what I mean?
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:05:57SPEAKER_10: Put a drum beat to it?
- 1:06:00SPEAKER_10: No question.
- 1:06:01SPEAKER_10: Shake your money maker, girl.
- 1:06:02SPEAKER_08: That's all I'm saying.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:06:03SPEAKER_08: So I'm saying.
- 1:06:05SPEAKER_08: So uh F you, uh Gene.
- 1:06:07SPEAKER_08: Sorry, Blanchard Children.
- 1:06:08SPEAKER_10: Well, I said F you, so True, but they know what that means.
- 1:06:13SPEAKER_08: Sorry, Blanchard Children.
- 1:06:15SPEAKER_08: It's the intent.
- 1:06:17SPEAKER_10: We should just have cousin Larry just saying, sorry, Blanchard, and we just play it whenever.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_10: We can do that.
- 1:06:22SPEAKER_10: Yeah, we about to do that.
- 1:06:24SPEAKER_08: Once I get you know ten minutes, we can we can do that.
- 1:06:26SPEAKER_08: I think we should make that a button.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_08: Let's see.
- 1:06:28SPEAKER_08: I want to make sure I get a hot button.
- 1:06:30SPEAKER_08: Which one is my I think that's the outro right there because I want to make sure that this I'm gonna hit this one in a second.
- 1:06:36SPEAKER_10: Okay.
- 1:06:37SPEAKER_10: All right.
- 1:06:38SPEAKER_10: Plan it out.
- 1:06:39SPEAKER_10: Right.
- 1:06:40SPEAKER_10: Step one, find button.

- 1:06:44SPEAKER_10: Step three, be awesome.
- 1:06:48SPEAKER_08: There's a great out name for uh uh an episode.
- 1:06:51SPEAKER_08: Step three, be awesome.
- 1:06:52SPEAKER_08: Be awesome.
- 1:06:54SPEAKER_08: Wait, wait.
- 1:06:55SPEAKER_08: So we don't have to look for it later.
- 1:06:57SPEAKER_08: What are we calling this episode?
- 1:06:59SPEAKER_09: Something about uh 15 minutes ago.
- 1:07:04SPEAKER_09: We forgot already.
- 1:07:05SPEAKER_09: Uh for people who hate themselves.

- 1:08:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:08:46SPEAKER_08: Which makes this book even more interesting.
- 1:08:48SPEAKER_08: You will like the combo of music and espionage, and it's about a drummer.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:52SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 1:08:53SPEAKER_10: I do have the book.
- 1:08:54SPEAKER_10: Did I give it to you?
- 1:08:55SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:08:56SPEAKER_10: I don't remember that.
- 1:08:57SPEAKER_10: Yeah, it was on the way to uh music trivia.
- 1:09:00SPEAKER_10: Oh.
- 1:09:01SPEAKER_10: Back in like July, August.
- 1:09:03SPEAKER_08: Honestly, I don't remember anything.
- 1:09:04SPEAKER_10: Yeah, I have the book.
- 1:09:05SPEAKER_08: It's crazy.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_08: That's funny.
- 1:09:06SPEAKER_08: It's funny you brought it up though.
- 1:09:08SPEAKER_08: Thanks for the suggestion, Doc.
- 1:09:10SPEAKER_08: Uh yeah.
- 1:09:11SPEAKER_08: Um have you read it yet?
- 1:09:13SPEAKER_10: It's on my to read list.
- 1:09:15SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:09:16SPEAKER_08: So it's it's in the pile.
- 1:09:18SPEAKER_08: And we should mention that uh on our last episode, uh, we talked about the fact that, you know, we don't want to well, maybe we won't slow down as quickly as we were, you know, performing live, you know, our acoustic.
- 1:09:32SPEAKER_08: Um and as soon as that podcast, I I swear people are listening.
- 1:09:35SPEAKER_08: So as soon as Yeah, I thought it was suspicious too.
- 1:09:38SPEAKER_08: So like what?
- 1:09:39SPEAKER_08: Yeah, so as soon as that podcast was posted on a Thursday, I think I got it, I think I she reached out on a like a Friday Friday.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_08: That Friday.
- 1:09:47SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:09:48SPEAKER_08: So we had uh representative of the Lime Rock Um Country Club or the Lime Rock Golf Club Golf Club, which is formerly the Limestone Country Club.
- 1:09:55SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:09:56SPEAKER_08: Um they have a nice restaurant there, and they have live music, and they wanted us to play.
- 1:10:01SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:02SPEAKER_08: So we've got a couple dates.
- 1:10:03SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we've got a couple dates up at the Lime Rock Golf Club, and I was I was going to Walmart the other day, and I saw our friend Sean, and he was walking ahead of me, and I said, Hey, Sean! He turns around and says, Uh, you ignoring us or what?
- 1:10:20SPEAKER_08: Right?
- 1:10:21SPEAKER_08: And then he went on this whole thing, he says, No, no, man.
- 1:10:24SPEAKER_08: And then he he was telling me that he the performing rights organizations are giving him a hard time.
- 1:10:31SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:10:32SPEAKER_08: Did you know that he's paying BMI to have live music?
- 1:10:37SPEAKER_08: Really?
- 1:10:38SPEAKER_08: And to play music in the restaurant?
- 1:10:41SPEAKER_08: He's paying 'cause technically you're supposed to.
- 1:10:44SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:10:45SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:10:46SPEAKER_08: Um and so he's he's paying them lots of money.
- 1:10:50SPEAKER_08: And he says, now and I have to pay the songwriters too.
- 1:10:52SPEAKER_08: I was like, doesn't the performing rights organization don't they take care of that?
- 1:10:57SPEAKER_08: He says, no, that's for the artists.
- 1:11:00SPEAKER_08: And and and I was like, uh, somebody's messing with you because I think you know, BMI collects money uh uh for the songwriters and stuff.
- 1:11:08SPEAKER_08: You know, that's that was my idea.
- 1:11:10SPEAKER_08: He was paying two different uh organizations, one for the artists, one for the songwriters, and like lots of money to have like music played and and live music, especially.
- 1:11:21SPEAKER_08: And I said to him, uh maybe I shouldn't say this on the podcast, but I said, I think you're the only restaurant that's doing that.
- 1:11:26SPEAKER_10: Yeah.
- 1:11:27SPEAKER_08: Um, I don't know for sure.
- 1:11:29SPEAKER_10: Um Yeah, I've never heard anybody else talk about it.
- 1:11:31SPEAKER_08: Yeah.
- 1:11:32SPEAKER_08: And I said, you know, because I know my son's friend, uh Jace, had played there a couple of times.
- 1:11:36SPEAKER_08: He was like, Well, Jace doesn't charge me anything.
- 1:11:40SPEAKER_08: This isn't I don't advertise it, you know.
- 1:11:42SPEAKER_08: Oh, yeah, yeah.
- 1:11:43SPEAKER_08: Um, but uh so he's you know, and then and then uh I think it was that night um and our other friend Josh, yeah, who is partners with Sean reached out and says, sorry I'm late, guys.
- 1:11:56SPEAKER_08: Uh want to get you down to this, you know, our our venue or whatever.
- 1:12:00SPEAKER_08: And I'm like, Have you been talking to Sean?
- 1:12:03SPEAKER_10: Well, I talked to him at the movie theater.
- 1:12:04SPEAKER_10: Well, the Anthony Stretch.
- 1:12:05SPEAKER_10: I saw Sam and the kids come in, and he came in later.
- 1:12:08SPEAKER_10: And I gave him a I I was kind of joshing him up.
- 1:12:11SPEAKER_08: Yeah, that's what I was doing too.
- 1:12:12SPEAKER_08: I know it was like I wasn't really serious.
- 1:12:14SPEAKER_08: I was just giving him a hard time, you know.
- 1:12:15SPEAKER_10: Well, I was like, Oh, they're already in there, you're already missing the movie, man.
- 1:12:21SPEAKER_08: So I mean, uh I think he gave us a couple of dates to consider to play there.
- 1:12:25SPEAKER_08: So we we have some some dates to look forward to uh in 2026 so far.
- 1:12:30SPEAKER_10: Yeah, so we're playing next Friday, right?
- 1:12:32SPEAKER_08: Yeah, we're being uh is it is it next Friday?
- 1:12:33SPEAKER_08: Uh 16th, yeah.
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_08: Is that next Friday?
- 1:12:35SPEAKER_10: Next Friday, yeah.
- 1:12:36SPEAKER_08: It is, yeah.
- 1:12:37SPEAKER_08: So we're we're uh January 16th, we'll be at the Lime Rock Golf Club for 6-8 for the first time.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_06: First time ever.
- 1:12:43SPEAKER_06: Six to eight, yeah, two hours.
- 1:12:45SPEAKER_06: Yeah, I love it.
