Pastor’s Note Today we begin our read through a book that is often misunderstood. And while in the book of Ecclesiastes we will encounter a lot of seemingly hopeless statements regarding life on earth, let us from the outset keep in view where this “sermon” (1:1) is going: “The end of the matter, all has been heard. Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, with every secret thing, whether good or evil” (12:13-14).
