Latest / Early Edition with Ryan Bridge / Andrew Dickens: The curious case of Benjamin Doyle
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: The curious case of Benjamin Doyle. Benjamin Doyle spoke on
- 0:03Speaker 1: the controversy surrounding them yesterday and basically called themself stupid.
- 0:08Speaker 1: We found out that the Greens actively asked him to
- 0:10Speaker 1: delete his accounts before he came into Parliament, those accounts
- 0:14Speaker 1: which introduced us all to the Bussy, but they refused,
- 0:17Speaker 1: wanting to stand up for what they is and who
- 0:20Speaker 1: they stand for. Given that if I was the Greens,
- 0:24Speaker 1: I would have gone to the next person on the list.
- 0:26Speaker 1: If Doyle wasn't going to drop it, I would have
- 0:28Speaker 1: dropped him. I said last week they should go, they
- 0:31Speaker 1: should go, and I stand by that. I don't see
- 0:34Speaker 1: the need for anyone so stupid and bloody minded in
- 0:36Speaker 1: a taxpayer funded parliament. Doyle says the Bussy stuff was
- 0:40Speaker 1: a knowing joke. I can understand that queens are always
- 0:45Speaker 1: ironically calling each other queen's but that's not the sort
- 0:48Speaker 1: of joke I want to see in an MP. But
- 0:50Speaker 1: to claim Benjamin must be a child offender, I thought
- 0:52Speaker 1: was also a step too far. In fact, it's a
- 0:55Speaker 1: heinous accusation unless you have the proof. And that goes
- 0:58Speaker 1: for the Hamish candl case too, So if they want
- 1:01Speaker 1: to put those haters aside, perhaps they need to stand
- 1:05Speaker 1: up for himself with a defamation suit, or even maybe
- 1:08Speaker 1: let the wife speak out, but again that will be difficult.
- 1:12Speaker 1: So again, the easiest way to deal with it all
- 1:14Speaker 1: is just to slope out the door. Benjamin carrying on
- 1:17Speaker 1: is probably not worth the Yanks, and this whole thing
- 1:21Speaker 1: is an ugly and entirely avoidable situation. For more from
