- 0:01What if I told you that some of the most mystical days of December are days
- 0:06we've almost completely forgotten about?
- 0:09Mark This time in a way that feels potent for you,
- 0:12that feels life-giving that feels magical.
- 0:26Hello and welcome back to Remember Why You Are Here,
- 0:29a podcast for seekers and sensitives where you can relax, receive,
- 0:33reconnect to yourself and remember the most important thing of all:
- 0:37why you're here.
- 0:40I'm Asia Suler and in this episode today I wanted to talk about my
- 0:44favorite end of the year, beginning of the year, magical,
- 0:49mystical rituals.
- 0:51So this is something that I've now been doing for years and
- 0:56I actually love this so much more than the readings I used to do for myself at
- 1:01the beginning of the year.
- 1:02I used to do a full tarot spread reading for the year,
- 1:06and I'll still do that sometimes, but this practice,
- 1:09I have just found it to be so much more accurate on a month to month kind of
- 1:13basis.
- 1:14It is such a beautiful way to initiate a new cycle in the
- 1:19year.
- 1:19It's such a beautiful way to mark the liminality of this time,
- 1:24especially between the end of Christmas and the real beginning of when we
- 1:28launch into January and into the new year.
- 1:32So this practice is called the Celtic Omen Days.
- 1:34It's a mostly forgotten winter divinatory tradition,
- 1:37although I know some people are still aware of this and still practicing this.
- 1:43When I first found out about this tradition and started
- 1:47incorporating it into my December into January every year,
- 1:52I just really ended up finding that I had the kind of guidance that I was
- 1:57craving for the rest of my year.
- 2:00So I wanted to make sure to share this recording now so that you had this
- 2:03practice in your back pocket for when December 26 rolls around because that's
- 2:07technically when this omen day practice begins.
- 2:13So this winter divinatory tradition is here for you if you are someone who likes
- 2:16to pick cards at the beginning of the year,
- 2:18if you want a glimpse of what is ahead.
- 2:21And if you know that you want to create a
- 2:24deeply mystical winter season,
- 2:27if you know that this winter you want to dive into
- 2:32your own intuition to expand your intuitive practices,
- 2:36to make a deep connection to your innermost self and your own wider
- 2:41knowing, in a way that will guide you in the year to come,
- 2:45than I would love to see you in my cozy online retreat,
- 2:48Winter Intuition School.
- 2:50I have been teaching Winter Intuition School now for 10 years in so many
- 2:54different iterations in small groups, in retreat centers,
- 2:59online, and for the second time now in two years,
- 3:03I've decided to make what was exclusively an online live experience
- 3:08now available for you to drop in at any time.
- 3:12And I also decided to make it 80% off,
- 3:17which is pretty wild.
- 3:18But we did this last year and I loved being able to make it accessible for folks
- 3:23and it was really amazing to see how much people got out of this experience,
- 3:28how it changed their winter times, how it changed their lives.
- 3:32I was reviewing the feedback that we received from the folks who signed up last
- 3:36year, and this one testimonial just blew me away. The student wrote: "Honestly,
- 3:40the amount of information and guidance given is with you for a lifetime.
- 3:44This class is beyond reasonable in price.
- 3:46Anyone who's struggling with self-growth, whether it be past traumas,
- 3:50present challenges, or future decisions,
- 3:52Asia and all of her wisdom guides you with loving acceptance into your own power
- 3:56of self-healing.
- 3:57We all have access to this inner knowing and this course helps you tune into
- 4:00your inner voice. My dreams have taken off. It's like a floodgate has opened.
- 4:05I've recalled dreams as an 8-year-old child that I've carried with me to now and
- 4:09I am 63 years old.
- 4:10I've been able to interpret this dream and it no longer has power over me.
- 4:14This course has empowered me and I'm no longer afraid of learning my gifts.
- 4:19The world has become magical."
- 4:22So Winder Intuition School is a five-week online retreat where we cover
- 4:26intuitive development, shamanic journeying, dreamwork, channeling,
- 4:30and how to communicate with nature spirits.
- 4:32The whole retreat was designed to help connect you to your own inner knowing.
- 4:36It includes five, three-hour live class recordings, in-depth PDFs,
- 4:41weekly intuitive readings and spa nights, musical playlists, meditations,
- 4:45bonus classes, and so much more.
- 4:48At the heart of this program is really the understanding that within you are all
- 4:52the answers and all of the tools that we go into
- 4:57inside of this retreat are here to help you make this primary,
- 5:01direct connection to your own inner knowing.
- 5:04As one of the students in the course last year said,
- 5:07"I got an answer to the question I posed at the beginning of the course.
- 5:10I had been trying to answer it for years,
- 5:12and by the end of that five weeks I had it." So if you're interested in that,
- 5:17this online retreat is on sale for 80% off until the new year,
- 5:22and you can head over to my website, asiasuler.com, to check it out.
- 5:27Okay,
- 5:27let's go ahead and get into the forgotten Celtic Omen days because I
- 5:32promise you, if you are a mystical,
- 5:34magical oracle card picking person,
- 5:37you are going to love this practice and I'm excited to hear about what it opens
- 5:42for you, what you see as you embark upon this practice this year.
- 5:48These days in December are known for their magic and their
- 5:52mysticism. In many different cultures throughout the world,
- 5:56this time surrounding the winter solstice was one of the most holy
- 6:00times of the year. So whether you celebrate solstice, Hanukkah,
- 6:04or Christmas, this time of the year is known for its celebrations.
- 6:09What if I told you that some of the most mystical days of December are days
- 6:14we've almost completely forgotten about?
- 6:16If you're someone that likes to give yourself a tarot card reading at the
- 6:20beginning of every year,
- 6:22or you're looking for a divinatory look at the year ahead.
- 6:25This is for you.
- 6:28Also called the 12 Days of Christmas in
- 6:31Brittany and Wales, these days of December 26th to January 6th are
- 6:36called the Omen Days.
- 6:39I first learned about this Celtic tradition of the Omen days through Caitlin
- 6:43Matthews. The omen days are what are called intercalary days,
- 6:47which are days that are reckoned with at the end of the year to catch the Roman
- 6:52calendar up with the solar calendar. So as such,
- 6:55these days between December 26th and January 6th are considered to be
- 7:00time out of time,
- 7:02almost like you've slipped the bounds of the normal calendar and you're in an
- 7:06in-between space. Interestingly, in our culture,
- 7:09the same is true.
- 7:11That period between Christmas and the first days of the new year tend to be a
- 7:16very amorphous time,
- 7:18a time where you very much feel like you're in transition or in limbo.
- 7:23All too often these days between Christmas and starting up work again in the new
- 7:27year get filled up with social engagements or family obligations,
- 7:31and we can miss out on the specialness of this time.
- 7:36In this Celtic tradition of the omen days,
- 7:39one practice was to see each day as a
- 7:43literal omen for the calendar year ahead.
- 7:46So for each of the 12 days,
- 7:48you have the ability to get a preview of what might be coming in
- 7:53this next year. So for example, the first day of the omen days,
- 7:57January 26th,
- 7:59would represent what might happen for you in January.
- 8:04So with these omen days,
- 8:05the invitation is to be in a state of meditative awareness to
- 8:10let go of bustle and planning,
- 8:13and sometimes all the hustle that comes around with the holiday time and just
- 8:18open your perception to open your mind to the possibilities of what you
- 8:22might perceive on these days. So with the omen days,
- 8:26you want to use your metaphorical mind to really look at the
- 8:31story of each day as it happens and be curious,
- 8:35what omen were you noticing that day? What events stood out for you?
- 8:39So much of what makes these omen days so vivid is if you bring
- 8:44your intention to them.
- 8:45So if you set the intention that you would like to see a preview of each of the
- 8:5012 months ahead in those 12 days and then just be open to whatever it is that
- 8:55comes and know that what you're seeing is coming in for a reason,
- 8:59it's helping you to prepare, orient,
- 9:02and step into this new year feeling grounded and resourced because you have an
- 9:06inkling of what it might carry.
- 9:09So my favorite ways to practice receiving omens from nature is to go for a
- 9:14walk every day in nature during these 12 days.
- 9:18So that might be a walk around your neighborhood or down your block,
- 9:22but it's a good idea to set a timeframe. Like during this one walk,
- 9:27this is when I'd like to receive my sign,
- 9:29and then go back over the events of that walk and see what occurred.
- 9:33You can also decide to have the whole day be an omen for that next month,
- 9:37but definitely no matter what you decide,
- 9:39take time at the end of the day and just go over what it is you experienced,
- 9:44and ask yourself,
- 9:45how can this sign or how can this experience be
- 9:50revelatory?
- 9:51How can this actually be showing me the blessings of what might be coming so
- 9:55that I can walk into this new year feeling prepared and excited for what's to
- 9:59come?
- 10:00So if you really want to reinfuse the magic back into your
- 10:05celebrations this December, check out my class,
- 10:08Holiday Magic and Medicine Making.
- 10:11In the class we talk about ancient rituals and practices for bringing
- 10:16the earth into your celebrations at this time.
- 10:20We also talk about specific herbs and recipes that can
- 10:24really infuse your season with the magic of the natural world,
- 10:28as well as crafts and other earth-led practices to really enrich the
- 10:33mysticism of these December celebrations.
- 10:37And however you decide to celebrate this season,
- 10:40know that there is all the potential in the world for you to
- 10:44mark this time in a way that feels potent for you.
- 10:48That feels life-giving, that feels magical.
- 10:52So now I would love to hear from you,
- 10:55how do you plan to mark or celebrate these intercalary days,
- 10:59the days from December 26th to January 6th? What kind of rest,
- 11:04rejuvenation or magic do you want to practice during these days?
- 11:08And if you end up trying out the 12 omen days,
- 11:12I'm so curious, What did you see for January?
- 11:15So thank you so much for watching and until the new year,
- 11:19may all of your celebrations this December be blessed.
- 11:25So I will definitely be doing this practice again this year because it has
- 11:29become my favorite thing to do each year.
- 11:32It really feels like it infuses those 12 days with
- 11:37so much extra magic, and I don't know if you feel this at all,
- 11:40but sometimes especially after Christmas is over,
- 11:44I experienced this slump in energy where I feel like a
- 11:49little disillusioned or just a little low energy and then it builds up again
- 11:53towards the new year,
- 11:54and then the same thing happens right after New Year's Eve. Well,
- 11:58with this practice,
- 11:59it's like that slump has just disappeared because every day has this really
- 12:03beautiful, focused, intentional aspect to it,
- 12:07and it just really helps me stay connected to the magic.
- 12:10I'm really feeling like this is going to be particularly essential for me this
- 12:14year,
- 12:14as that time will be my last couple weeks of
- 12:19my sabbatical. So if you're just tuning in now,
- 12:23I have been on a writing sabbatical for the last five months,
- 12:26writing my next book. It has been so incredible, so deep.
- 12:30I have a lot to say about the practice of taking a sabbatical,
- 12:35how important it is. Everything I've learned during this process,
- 12:39and I'm just really looking forward to having these omen days to integrate
- 12:43before I'm back in the new year with new sharings,
- 12:47new openings, and new offerings. So starting on Solstice,
- 12:52we will be on a company-wide break until the end of the year,
- 12:55but I will be back on December 31st with the
- 13:00reading for January,
- 13:01and then the following week I'll be back with our yearly reading for the year
- 13:05ahead, for 2026. That feels very futuristic to say.
- 13:10I cannot believe it is 2026 already,
- 13:13but I will be back then with the reading for the month ahead for January
- 13:18and the reading for 2026 as we launch into the new year.
- 13:22So thank you so much for being a part of this
- 13:27whole experience this past year. I launched.
- 13:30Remember Why You Are here almost a year ago.
- 13:32I launched it last February and this first year of the podcast has just been
- 13:37beyond my wildest imagination.
- 13:40It has been so incredible, so healing,
- 13:44so connective. This is so much fun,
- 13:47and being able to hear from you has just meant the world.
- 13:50So if you have ideas for episodes that you want to hear in the
- 13:55future or you have feedback or you just want to leave me a little
- 13:59holiday love note, then head over to AsiaSuler.com/remember,
- 14:04and you can leave me a voice note.
- 14:06You can also leave comments wherever it is you're listening to this podcast.
- 14:10And if you want to give me a Christmas gift, if you're like,
- 14:15I really want to send Asia something cute with a little bow on top
- 14:20that she's going to put underneath your tree and unwrap, then you can.
- 14:23And here's how to do it.
- 14:25You can leave me a rating or review wherever you listen to podcasts.
- 14:29I promise you this is the best gift I could ask for. It means so much.
- 14:33It helps the podcast so much.
- 14:36Somehow every time five little stars are left on this podcast,
- 14:41it finds more and more people,
- 14:42the algorithm deities decide to show those podcasts to more of the
- 14:47people who are meant to be in our community,
- 14:49who we are all meant to be in connection with.
- 14:51And I read each and every one of your reviews and I save
- 14:56them in a folder called Remember Why You're Here,
- 15:00which predated this podcast. This is where this podcast came from,
- 15:03was this folder where I would put these messages that I received from people,
- 15:07that really helped me remember,
- 15:09away on my desktop so I could tune in anytime I needed to.
- 15:12So thank you for reminding me why I am here.
- 15:15Thank you for all of your love and support.
- 15:18This has just been such a beautiful experience so far and I'm really
- 15:22excited to launch into season two next year.
- 15:27So may the rest of your holiday season be blessed.
- 15:30May you receive so many omens of blessings and
- 15:34goodwill and wishes come true on your Celtic Omen days this
- 15:39year. And may this tip into the new year bring you perspective and magic and
- 15:44homecoming,
- 15:45and may it help remind you of that thing,
- 15:49that thing that we all need to remember,
- 15:52that thing that is the most helpful thing of all as we walk through this
- 15:57world, remembering why you're here.
