  about the Kenobi series since it happened that happened period

  and then we're going to talk about and or because that hasn't

  happened yet, but it is September 1st.

  introductory questions that I just kind of wondered if you

  kind of panned out for us, but yeah, many many years.

  Okay, so overall, what was your overall reaction to the Kenobi?

  Series 2? You'd love it.

  It's like part of it. How did you guys feel?

  Charles you want to go first? Yes, I think for me, it started

  out slow, I was happy to have the first two episodes come out
• 6:56
  because it sort of gave sort of a Cadence to it was cat.

  What was coming? And I think that it really ended

  up phenomenally. I love the way it ended.

  The story beats it, they completed, they landed the
• 7:08
  series perfectly. So, as much as there's things
• 7:10
  that I didn't necessarily like throughout the series, the last
• 7:13
  episode, just blew me away. Nice.

  story short I got hooked up by like Friday.

  So I downloaded it and I could watch it several times.

  if I had the same impact with seeing Qui-Gon at the end.

  I'm actually curious what you guys thought about Qui-Gon at

  the end since you mentioned he needed a towel and everything

  I knew I knew that the whole series he was looking forward to

  that and if it didn't happen it would have been that huge

  misstep but I just I I love the character of Kenobi and I just,

  you know, my main takeaway from from the series was how he got
• 10:53
  from, you know, being at the top with the, you know, the Jedi
• 10:59
  Temple, and the council and everything to to being in hiding
• 11:05
  and all that transition to where we see him as a, Hermit in a new
• 11:10
  hope. So, you know, Was really driven
• 11:13
  by the idea of that. And we we got glimpses of that,
• 11:17
  but most of it was not about that which, you know, I'm fine
• 11:21
  with as long as they explore it in season 2.
• 11:23
  It's fine. He's gunning for a season 2.
• 11:28
  Of course, he is so surprised. He's got the whole plot written
• 11:33
  out already. What about you?

  Charles you wish to do hope. There's a season 2.

  No, I think that I'm okay with where it ended.

  I found that the as satisfying as Obi-Wan Invaders, dual ended
• 11:50
  and how they how they split, how they moved on can be seen as a
• 11:56
  bit clunky in the sense that well, why would you just leave
• 11:58
  me the whole and while we leaving where I get the story

  parts and their motivations and you know that scene with Vader
• 12:04
  and the emperor purely defines that because that one moment you
• 12:07
  can if If Vader wasn't wearing his armor you could leave me.
• 12:10
  See his Adam's Apple go up and down like when the emperor
• 12:13
  called him out on his motivation?
• 12:14
  Oh yeah. So you see that you see why he
• 12:17
  was clouded that way so you can I totally get that but if they
• 12:22
  do a second season Bader can't be in there and know it would be
• 12:27
  his it would be Obi-Wan's Vision Quest.

  Yeah and it could be side things.

  Yeah but I love the way it ended.

  I was satisfied with way the series ended and if we don't get
• 12:36
  another one I'm happy because Cuz I love the way it ended and
• 12:40
  like they with Leia and the way he spoke to her and it's like me
• 12:44
  went to be careful all those things just slide so beautifully
• 12:48
  into a New Hope and I was happy with that.

  We're any tears shed because we cried oh, for sure.

  I mean, it was yeah, yeah. It was moving.

  Yes. As soon as they start playing

  the Leia theme, I like lost my shit.

  Yeah, yeah. It was.

  I'm I'm glad that two women. And two men can sit here and say

  that it brought us all to tears. Yeah, unabashedly.

  Yeah, and they did a phenomenal job.

  I mean, they built up Qui-Gon, so much threat series.

  Of course, when he was calling to him and calling to him at
• 13:22
  their various time, I kind of wish we would have heard his
• 13:24
  voice, but I'm fine with a vision.
• 13:28
  At the end. Oh, that's it.

  I never thought about good voice like like a Obi-Wan Voice
• 13:33
  versus. Yeah.
• 13:34
  Pure pure Apparition or a yeah. Yeah.

  I mean, we'll learn and I kind of explored that in one of our
• 13:41
  episodes about, you know, how would we have, I guess pictured,
• 13:44
  Qui-Gon differently. But Beggars cannot be choosers.
• 13:48
  So I'm just happy, we got them and they had an exchange at the
• 13:51
  end and then they rode off into the sunset.
• 13:54
  Got a long way to go. Was there anything that you were
• 13:57
  really Hoping to get out of the show that you didn't get. well,
• 14:08
  there was there was a lot of emphasis on other people and and
• 14:15
  that in some respects took away from all these story that could
• 14:22
  have been towed. Otherwise totally.

  And so that kind of for me was like, oh well, I thought I was
• 14:31
  watching Obi-Wan Kenobi and not Reva and the fake Jedi, you
• 14:38
  know, it's just, that's one of the things that I was like, oh
• 14:42
  well, I'd like more sort of story sentricon on kind of what
• 14:48
  he's going through and what he's and the flashbacks were great
• 14:53
  and and sort of looking to the Future and setting those pieces
• 14:57
  in place, was fantastic. But yeah, there was a lot that
• 15:01
  like, You'd think they would not kind of sacrifice Obi-Wan story
• 15:09
  for some of these other plot points.
• 15:11
  That's a really, really interesting.
• 15:12
  Good point, you see the payoff for Leia.
• 15:14
  Being such an important character and a wonderful
• 15:17
  explanation of her character when she's young.
• 15:18
  And then, you know, that Vision that he has in the when he's
• 15:22
  buried under the stones. Yeah, that's one of the last
• 15:25
  things he sees before you burst out of it.
• 15:26
  So you see that importance of her character for him for
• 15:30
  Obi-Wan? So, You get where those sort of
• 15:34
  payoff at the end even with Riva and her sort of redemption, is
• 15:38
  that going to be something that's going to be in the
• 15:40
  future? Maybe you should we appear
• 15:42
  somewhere along the way? So there's a point in a
• 15:45
  destination to all the extra characters.
• 15:48
  But yeah, I agree with Patna sense that it could be a lot
• 15:50
  more Obi-Wan Centric and you know, 80% him and semiannual 20%
• 15:55
  of the other ones as he's moving through things.
• 15:57
  But yeah, I mean I one of the unexpected things that I got was
• 16:02
  the Brutality of Vader and how he's like, just that was
• 16:06
  phenomenal. I mean, scary was a phenomenal
• 16:09
  thing. Yeah.

  It was fun to feel like physically afraid of him for.
• 16:15
  I mean, I was afraid of him in Rogue one but otherwise, like,
• 16:18
  not really in the original trilogy.
• 16:19
  He's more mysterious than terrifying.

  And in this show, he was downright fucking chair.

  Yeah, they brought it, they brought it.

  Yeah, but they did. So, you know, because there's

  always, My fear of like don't overdo it, don't make it silly.

  Don't make it. You know, you have to tread a

  line when it comes to Vader, I feel because he's built up so

  much that you don't want to knock it down and I think they
• 16:44
  did it just right? Oh yeah, it was brutal.

  And and yet, you know, in the, in the mind, he's he's obsessed

  and it's, it's great to see that kind of anger just come out.

  And to your point, Charles, when Obi-Wan had the rocks on him, it

  I always took it as a symbol of the weight of the Skywalker's on
• 17:07
  him, but he uses the Skywalker's to then liberate him.

  No, wow. Which I always thought like if

  he's going to think about anything down there and it's
• 17:17
  gonna bring him Joy. It's those two kids because
• 17:19
  those are his always calling or his new path is new.

  And yeah, I thought it was a good use because you know, to be

  buried alive. Would be terrible, but he was

  using all that strength and then just liberated himself by the

  Skywalker's, you know, turning a whole page over and it was

  Anakin Skywalker who buried in the first place?

  are messy and awful and he is bound to them for a lifetime.

  I really wanted to see more of the suffering after the he got

  just passed over real fast. I wanted a little bit more of

  that 80/20, like you said, 80% Kenobi, 20%, everything else.

  Well they kind of spent the first couple of episodes

  Character-driven story and then they kind of just stopped right

  there and went into more like action-based after that.

  And it's like this is the moment where it should have been more

  emotionally. What are you guys doing?

  He literally faced his fears for the first time in 10 years.

  Was physically injured during the process has a little bath In

  a back to tank in is all of a sudden a Jedi again he's totally

  fine. I just like come on guys can we

  just have one moment to feel like government?

  Yeah maybe we're just masochist, I don't know.

  But we want to see the man. Who are you more tormented?

  You've seen that Meme going around right of like others

  fandoms. People like my favorite

  character in the Star Wars fandom is like hurt my

  character. I love it so applicable but it's

  yeah I almost make it a kin to and you know the opening of this

  the series itself and how brilliant it was with the music

  and the replay of of Revenge of the Sith and then you see the
• 19:45
  crash is being attacked and yeah, all that and you get that
• 19:48
  emotional sense in the you can immediately planted.

  Why? Obi-Wan is like this.

  You can see why he's downtrodden.
• 19:55
  It's all these memories but maybe seeing him personally
• 19:59
  experienced that Versus flashbacks of.

  Yeah, yeah. The, you know, when he first

  face Vader, of course, he was manhandled with, you know,

  Vader's lightsaber play. Then the second time, he's got

  his lightsaber out, he's doing better when he's in the

  inquisitorial, this was Dorian, whatever that place was called,

  where he's actually now starting to flick the bowl.

  So you see that progression. He's starting to get his mojo

  back into until the end, but yeah, yeah, it's a few quick

  jumps there. But then he's like, stronger

  than Never before in the last episode, it was that I thought

  was so satisfying because you know in Clone Wars we see him do
• 20:39
  all this crazy stuff but this is the first time in live action
• 20:42
  where he does like crazy shit and it was so satisfying to see.

  Can you tell? I'm passionate about none of us

  had any idea. It's hot in here, right?

  how phenomenally they were and how like fantastic and how much

  You can finally see. Oh, and actually being like and

  to say Luke is mine, you know, like he is my family because You

  forget that sometimes in A New Hope when they're just butting

  heads all the time. It's like that comes from a

  place of Love, he's trying to protect him.

  I thought that was really nice and Brew just pulling out the

  shotguns ready to go home. So she was ready.

  I and like, damn, I I even sat back in my chair like yeah, this

  is great. She's ready.

  It's you got. The whole plan is like, she

  planned it out. She's almost like she put the

  Well, it's very reminiscent of Jen's beginning Jin's beginning

  as her childhood where her parents enacted, the plan of

  like, okay, we got to get her to Safety, in case something

  happens and you know, very smart transition Lee, and in the wife,

  that's not very good, right? You know, it's almost like we do

  this the Earth. So is had a plan.

  And that brings us to the next show, awaiting us the and or

  that's that's been kind of a downfall for me in terms of

  like, you know, when you're excited about something and you

  see like major plot points or like key shots and things like

  that in the trailers and then you're like, oh, it's awesome.

  And then you see the show and it's Either like too much has
• 23:39
  been given away by the trailer or or you just get the, you
• 23:44
  know, get a different vibe, then then your intended to, for
• 23:48
  marketing purposes, or whatever. So I actively try to avoid those

  things. Fair enough, I watched the
• 23:58
  teaser for Kenobi which was basically this and then the logo
• 24:04
  and then Like the sound of a lightsaber igniting I guess.

  So it's like not much to spoil their.

  So in that regard I think and both of us tend to not want to

  over saturate ourselves ahead of a film or a show just just for
• 24:27
  just I really for the intention of not painting experience.

  So I don't know what to expect. Oh, that's yeah.

  I mean I made the choice not to look at anything when it came to

  the star Cruiser. And well yeah.

  Well like woe to me you know. So I totally get that.

  Yeah totally man and or we kind of have you and I talked about

  this before I lie and that there's like less expectations,

  no one really knows what to expect.

  So I think they have a little bit less pressure maybe maybe

  I'm wrong. Then like the Kenobi series,

  were everybody? Something they want out of that.

  And and or I'm kind of just like, I just can't wait to see

  what they're gonna do, what they're going to do.

  I don't even have a clue of what I wish the show would give me.

  I'm just kind of interested to see what they're going to do.

  Well I'll start by saying since Pat hasn't seen the trailers.

  I watched I have a one-time rule so watch the teaser trailer by
