Latest / FPL Pod / S7 Ep5: FPL Pod: Triple Captain in Gameweek 2?!
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: But once we have a pretty happy FPL pod crew.
- 0:03Speaker 1: After Game week one, we discuss why we think Jotta
- 0:06Speaker 1: is an FPL gift while all remaining patient with our transfers.
- 0:09Speaker 1: But could we be tempted to use our triple captain already?
- 0:14Speaker 1: So we are under a f FL for the season
- 0:17Speaker 1: twenty twenty four has commenced. I hope you had a
- 0:20Speaker 1: good game week, Kelly. Summer's back with you alongside my
- 0:23Speaker 1: trusty pairing of Sam Bomfield and Julian and la Ron.
- 0:27Speaker 1: I'm going to say it first and bottom of our
- 0:29Speaker 1: league already, but of course one game week, so I'm
- 0:32Speaker 1: not I'm going to get it in before you guys do. Jewels.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I knew you were going to say it, weren't you.
- 0:37Speaker 2: Basically, if you start at the bottom, the only ways up, Kenny.
- 0:40Speaker 1: So you know, yeah, the only way is up. It's
- 0:42Speaker 1: a steep climb to you, Jewels, A whole six points,
- 0:44Speaker 1: a whole seven points if I wanted to catch our leader,
- 0:47Speaker 1: Sam Bomfield. Sam, are you enjoying this rare moment at
- 0:49Speaker 1: the top?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Oh?
- 0:50Speaker 1: Wow, that was savage. Yeah, I'll enjoy it while I can. Thanks,
- 0:56Speaker 1: I'm having to move from the top. Now that's it.
- 0:59Speaker 1: I was going to say, how did your game week
- 1:01Speaker 1: one go? Yeah? Actually, all right.
- 1:02Speaker 3: I think normally I'm terrible in game week one, but
- 1:04Speaker 3: this year it feels like everyone kind of did okay
- 1:07Speaker 3: because most players actually did return what you were expecting.
- 1:11Speaker 3: There was only a couple that I think were surprises.
- 1:14Speaker 3: Game week one actually felt quite good. Yeah, I mean, overall,
- 1:17Speaker 3: I got sixty seven. I think everyone that I wanted
- 1:21Speaker 3: to did well. There's a couple of problems potentially that
- 1:23Speaker 3: I've got now that I'm just waiting on press conferences
- 1:25Speaker 3: to find out about. But yeah, otherwise a decent stop.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Congratulations, I only having a couple of problems. I've got
- 1:31Speaker 1: a multitude after Game week one? Why did I think
- 1:34Speaker 1: it was a good idea to go for Barco, who
- 1:36Speaker 1: I knew probably was going to lose his place. Didn't
- 1:38Speaker 1: expect it in game week one. I didn't also Expectkonda
- 1:41Speaker 1: to come off at halftime in game week one, And
- 1:44Speaker 1: now I'm left with I've got a million in the bank,
- 1:46Speaker 1: but I'm left with a dodgy defense, no Momo sala
- 1:50Speaker 1: Earling Harlot. At least we all got the captain wrong
- 1:53Speaker 1: as well. Though, didn't we Jewels?
- 1:54Speaker 2: We did. I mean I went for East sag thinking
- 1:58Speaker 2: at home to Southampton, you know, the momentum, good preseason everything,
- 2:03Speaker 2: and then nobody obviously could have for seen Shah being
- 2:07Speaker 2: sent off so early and then Newcastle having to basically
- 2:11Speaker 2: not play much for the first half and then be
- 2:13Speaker 2: lucky in the second half to score that go. But
- 2:14Speaker 2: at least East Side somehow got the assist for Joelington,
- 2:18Speaker 2: so we got five points, which makes it tense. But
- 2:20Speaker 2: obviously if you went for Salah, if you went for
- 2:22Speaker 2: Saka Jota even or Petro Poro whoever else, who had
- 2:27Speaker 2: a much better tally than Essig, then you were better off.
- 2:29Speaker 2: So obviously the leaders overall are the ones who went
- 2:33Speaker 2: for a mosalas captain, for example, because that gets you
- 2:36Speaker 2: an extra fourteen points compared to others who picked the
- 2:40Speaker 2: wrong captain like us.
- 2:41Speaker 1: I'm gonna also be honest. When I saw Pedro Poro,
- 2:43Speaker 1: I was on the phone at the time when I
- 2:45Speaker 1: saw Pedro Poro had scored. Yes, I was on the
- 2:49Speaker 1: phone too. Doesn't play fpo And I was like, oh sorry,
- 2:51Speaker 1: Pedro Poro scored, and they're like, are you a Leicster?
- 2:54Speaker 2: Fan.
- 2:54Speaker 1: I was like, no, no, no, but I know that two
- 2:56Speaker 1: people that I'm playing against in the mini league both
- 2:58Speaker 1: have Pedro Poro. Are you worried about him now though, Sam,
- 3:02Speaker 1: he's flagged, He's flagged.
- 3:04Speaker 3: Yeah, But it was the weirdest injury that I've ever seen,
- 3:07Speaker 3: because he ran around the pitch stamping his foot for
- 3:10Speaker 3: quite a while before he went off as if he
- 3:11Speaker 3: had like, I don't know, like cramp of some kind.
- 3:15Speaker 3: But then there was a moment where in a shock,
- 3:18Speaker 3: gave away possession and he chased it back and got
- 3:21Speaker 3: it back. So I'm not overly concerned. We'll see what Posta.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Cogley says. He tends to be quite honest in his presses.
- 3:27Speaker 3: I mean I only really had Pedro Poro for game
- 3:29Speaker 3: with one and two. Anyway, that was the original plan.
- 3:32Speaker 3: So if he's out of game week two, then I
- 3:35Speaker 3: might think about selling him. But then equally, he was
- 3:38Speaker 3: so attacking in that game against Leicester that even if
- 3:40Speaker 3: there's no clean sheets there, there could easily be attacking
- 3:44Speaker 3: returns for him over the next few weeks.
- 3:45Speaker 1: So just one to wait for the press conferences on
- 3:48Speaker 1: I think, Jill, Sorry, I only asked you about the
- 3:50Speaker 1: wrong captaincy. Other than that you had some good picks
- 3:53Speaker 1: in there. I've got to be honest. I was buzzing
- 3:54Speaker 1: when I saw garnaccho benched and then Ron Jammy still
- 4:00Speaker 1: get to return.
- 4:01Speaker 2: I've said to you, I knew it was going to
- 4:02Speaker 2: be on the bench because he had a short preseason
- 4:04Speaker 2: because of Copa America. We saw him being on the
- 4:07Speaker 2: bench in the community shold as well against cities, so
- 4:09Speaker 2: it was very likely that he would be on the bench.
- 4:11Speaker 2: I was not worried about him being on the bench
- 4:13Speaker 2: because I knew he would play at some point, and
- 4:15Speaker 2: like I've said to you in last week's show, he's
- 4:18Speaker 2: really the only good thing going forward for this Manchester
- 4:20Speaker 2: United team at the moment anyway, so I knew he
- 4:23Speaker 2: would do something coming off the bench. He did. I
- 4:25Speaker 2: was so cross that he missed that chance at the end,
- 4:28Speaker 2: literally like even you U Kelly would have scored that.
- 4:31Speaker 2: So I was just like, how how did he miss that?
- 4:34Speaker 2: And I was shouting at Rushford passed the ball to
- 4:36Speaker 2: Donaho convincing convinced that gun show was scored, so it
- 4:40Speaker 2: could have been even better than four. And I expect
- 4:42Speaker 2: him now to start at the weekend because fitness wise
- 4:45Speaker 2: you'll be more ready. And I think he showed enough
- 4:47Speaker 2: in the two games so far that that he deserves
- 4:50Speaker 2: to play. So no, I was. I was happy with
- 4:52Speaker 2: guannshow nothing jamming Ganachho and overall sixty six points, which
- 4:55Speaker 2: is a decent start. A lot of people returned, and
- 4:58Speaker 2: the one who didn't return, like Kudos and Solanky, who
- 5:01Speaker 2: we talk about a bit later, I felt well unlucky
- 5:04Speaker 2: not to return because they were both very good at
- 5:06Speaker 2: what they did, just like a little bit the last
- 5:09Speaker 2: in the last part or the finishing for Solanky and
- 5:12Speaker 2: then for Kudus that the others finished the chancey they created.
- 5:15Speaker 2: But yeah, I thought it was a good start.
- 5:17Speaker 1: Yeah, sixty six points few then he also played the
- 5:19Speaker 1: right goalkeeper with fleckin not getting a clean sheet but
- 5:21Speaker 1: getting a couple of points for saves against Crystal Palace
- 5:24Speaker 1: as well. A reminder, if you haven't yet joined the
- 5:26Speaker 1: FPL POM Mini League, the code is Q seven y
- 5:30Speaker 1: C O the letter O zero. That's annoying, Coke, because
- 5:33Speaker 1: I'm going to have to say that every single time,
- 5:35Speaker 1: clarifying which type of otter put. Thank you to everyone
- 5:38Speaker 1: who has already joined. Great to see so many of
- 5:40Speaker 1: you in there. Marjan is currently top. Like I've said, Sam,
- 5:44Speaker 1: enjoy it while you can marchin only one game week down.
- 5:47Speaker 1: He did have a remarkable week though, ninety eight points,
- 5:50Speaker 1: so two points off getting one hundred, and it's a
- 5:53Speaker 1: very red team. He had lots of Arsenal, Liverpool and
- 5:56Speaker 1: Manchester United returning for him. He also put his faith
- 5:58Speaker 1: in Garnatcho. But defense. I really liked his defense. He
- 6:01Speaker 1: went from Martinez Saliba and Alexander Arnold, and he also
- 6:05Speaker 1: had hats up front and an inspired captain Joyce mo Seller.
- 6:09Speaker 1: I wanted to ask you, samth there was any surprises
- 6:12Speaker 1: in game week one for you, because we all try
- 6:14Speaker 1: and predict from preseason, but we never really know exactly
- 6:17Speaker 1: what's going to happen until the first ball of that
- 6:19Speaker 1: Premier League season has kicked. Do anything surprise you can
- 6:21Speaker 1: gain week one? Yeah, I mean I think there were
- 6:23Speaker 1: a couple.
- 6:24Speaker 3: I think from an FPR perspective, the bonus points have
- 6:26Speaker 3: been a bit of a surprise. I think we said
- 6:28Speaker 3: in pre season that we were expecting to see defenders
- 6:32Speaker 3: not get very many bonus points this time around because
- 6:34Speaker 3: of the way that the changes have gone into the
- 6:37Speaker 3: system and the fact that you know you're not getting
- 6:39Speaker 3: points for being found and you're getting points for shots
- 6:41Speaker 3: on target. So we were expecting to see a bit
- 6:44Speaker 3: of a change up and who was getting the bonus points,
- 6:46Speaker 3: and actually it hasn't been as big a change as
- 6:50Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be. So no defender
- 6:54Speaker 3: or goalkeeper got three bonus points last week, but we
- 6:57Speaker 3: did see a number getting two and one. We had
- 7:00Speaker 3: three defenders getting two bonus points and one goalkeeper and
- 7:05Speaker 3: then four goalies and six defenders getting one. So plenty
- 7:09Speaker 3: of bonus points still to get, I guess from the
- 7:12Speaker 3: defensive players, which is nice because I think when we
- 7:14Speaker 3: were all looking at spending, like I went really big
- 7:16Speaker 3: at the back with Poro, with Saliba and with Ardiel,
- 7:22Speaker 3: and I was a little bit concerned about having spent
- 7:24Speaker 3: that much money in defense if they weren't likely to
- 7:26Speaker 3: pick up bonus points. But the fact that they still
- 7:27Speaker 3: got them this week is good. There were some surprises
- 7:30Speaker 3: on the pitch as well. Danny Welbeck we spoke about
- 7:33Speaker 3: him in preseason, but had an absolutely phenomenal game and
- 7:37Speaker 3: I think you know a lot of the chat in
- 7:39Speaker 3: preseason was about jal Pedro and whether he was the
- 7:42Speaker 3: right budget Brighton player to go for. Actually, on looking
- 7:46Speaker 3: back on game week one, I mean we have to
- 7:48Speaker 3: take it with a little bit of a look at
- 7:50Speaker 3: Everton as well, who were very poor. But yeah, five
- 7:53Speaker 3: and a half million, he could actually be a really
- 7:56Speaker 3: nice option. It's United up next, but it's their first
- 7:58Speaker 3: home fixture of the season and then they've got Arsenal,
- 8:01Speaker 3: so there are some difficult games to come for Brighton,
- 8:03Speaker 3: but actually from getting we four onwards, if he's still
- 8:06Speaker 3: getting the starts, he could be a lovely pick.
- 8:08Speaker 1: We spoke about it on the pod last week, didn't we,
- 8:10Speaker 1: how Jewels, Maybe we were all getting a little bit
- 8:12Speaker 1: blinded by the fact that we all felt we had
- 8:14Speaker 1: to have Harland Esack and then we got very excited
- 8:17Speaker 1: about Dominic Silanki being Spurs is number nine going in
- 8:20Speaker 1: at the price he was that we were perhaps risking
- 8:23Speaker 1: ignoring players other forwards and he could well be one
- 8:26Speaker 1: of those, couldn't.
- 8:27Speaker 2: Hey, Yeah, I mean I think it's amazing to see
- 8:29Speaker 2: Danny Welbeck with the performance like that, Chris Wood with
- 8:33Speaker 2: the performance that he had going for Forrest. Then Jimmy
- 8:35Speaker 2: Vardy on Monday Night. Sorry, Sam, But because you're right,
- 8:39Speaker 2: I think not that we don't think Jimmy Vardi or
- 8:41Speaker 2: Wood or well Beg are not good players. It's just
- 8:44Speaker 2: that you tend to go with either the bigger names
- 8:47Speaker 2: or maybe the bigger teams even and if you went
- 8:51Speaker 2: for the strategy, which is two let's say superstar strikers
- 8:54Speaker 2: or forwards, and then your third one is more of
- 8:57Speaker 2: a five five point five, it would well be Vardi's
- 9:01Speaker 2: five on five as well. Then you were rewarded this weekend.
- 9:03Speaker 2: He might not always be like that. I don't expect
- 9:05Speaker 2: Danny well Beg to score fifty goals a season and
- 9:08Speaker 2: have every game like he had at the weekend. But
- 9:11Speaker 2: for that game on game week one, sorry, it worked
- 9:14Speaker 2: really really well. And I have to say for Chris
- 9:17Speaker 2: Wood especially, I think, considering how good he was at
- 9:19Speaker 2: times last season, maybe even more than well Begg and
- 9:22Speaker 2: Vardi in the championship, I think Woods was a very
- 9:25Speaker 2: smart pick for whoever picked it. Again, I don't think
- 9:28Speaker 2: it would last much longer, but for that game Week one,
- 9:31Speaker 2: and for the game that Forest has, for the people
- 9:34Speaker 2: who went for him and chose that strategy. It worked
- 9:37Speaker 2: out really really well.
- 9:38Speaker 1: We did, for a while have a third forward conundrum,
- 9:40Speaker 1: didn't we Sam? Until Slanki went to Spurs. How did
- 9:43Speaker 1: you feel, if you take your Spurs off a little
- 9:45Speaker 1: bit for a minute, how did you feel that he
- 9:48Speaker 1: did on his debut at the King Powell Stadium? Are
- 9:50Speaker 1: you still pleased to have him in your team? Yeah?
- 9:52Speaker 3: I think, and i'm talking FPL your team well aboutth
- 9:56Speaker 3: Actually I think I'm still pleased to have him there.
- 9:58Speaker 3: It's an interesting one, isn't it. I think with Selanky
- 10:00Speaker 3: because actually he had a good game. He had plenty
- 10:02Speaker 3: of shots on target, had plenty of opportunities. Spurs were
- 10:06Speaker 3: being very creative, particularly in that first half. Spurs did
- 10:10Speaker 3: spurst things when they conceded and then you know, decided
- 10:13Speaker 3: that they had forgotten how to play football for a
- 10:15Speaker 3: good twenty five minutes. But actually I thought Selanki had
- 10:18Speaker 3: a good debut. And you know, just because he doesn't
- 10:20Speaker 3: score in the opening game doesn't mean that we still
- 10:22Speaker 3: panic and get rid of him. I think there were
- 10:24Speaker 3: plenty of good signs there from him. So if you've
- 10:27Speaker 3: got Selanki, he could and should have returned in that game.
- 10:30Speaker 3: There were a couple of opportunities where I was like,
- 10:32Speaker 3: how is he not put that way? And partly that
- 10:36Speaker 3: might be you know, he only arrived a week before
- 10:38Speaker 3: the game and it's getting used to new teammates and
- 10:40Speaker 3: all of that stuff. So with another week of training
- 10:43Speaker 3: together and going into the game at home, which obviously
- 10:46Speaker 3: you have the crowd behind you, then against in Everton's side,
- 10:49Speaker 3: who conceded three. But my goodness, were unlucky not to
- 10:52Speaker 3: conceive more than three in that one, or were lucky,
- 10:55Speaker 3: I should say, not to conceive more than three in
- 10:57Speaker 3: that one? But yeah, I think Selanky is definitely a
- 11:00Speaker 3: hold for me. He played well enough to think that
- 11:03Speaker 3: there's points coming.
- 11:04Speaker 1: So don't panic with SLANKI and Jews if you've had
- 11:06Speaker 1: a bad start overall. Not you personally, I'm meaning the
- 11:09Speaker 1: listeners that maybe aren't too happy with how the game
- 11:11Speaker 1: Week one went. What would your message be to them,
- 11:13Speaker 1: because obviously this season as well, it's not a case
- 11:16Speaker 1: that can only hold your transfers for a couple of weeks.
- 11:19Speaker 1: You've got a bit longer now with them. What would
- 11:21Speaker 1: your message be to them in terms of if they're
- 11:23Speaker 1: making plans to move players.
- 11:24Speaker 2: On panic really, and then you've got a feel about
- 11:27Speaker 2: your team. You know, you've watched games, even if it's
- 11:30Speaker 2: just highlight. You know with the players that you have,
- 11:34Speaker 2: if it feels like you have to keep them a
- 11:37Speaker 2: bit longer and just the patient, like we've just said
- 11:40Speaker 2: for Solnky, because Solanki, on the eye, had a good
- 11:43Speaker 2: game on the starts, the shots that you had on target,
- 11:46Speaker 2: his gy zero point three five, so there was a
- 11:49Speaker 2: lot of good things that he did, even if in
- 11:50Speaker 2: the end it's two points and he was quite frustrating watching.
- 11:53Speaker 2: So you would feel with some of your players, some
- 11:55Speaker 2: of your team, if you feel like it's not working
- 11:58Speaker 2: out for you, for you that you don't feel it
- 12:01Speaker 2: so you can change it. You can keep it and
- 12:03Speaker 2: roll your transfer like we said, and wait a little
- 12:05Speaker 2: bit longer. Some go crazy straight away and play wild
- 12:09Speaker 2: cards and et cetera. Out take a minus four minus
- 12:12Speaker 2: eight because they want to change more. You would think
- 12:14Speaker 2: that you've planned for at least a few games at
- 12:17Speaker 2: the start of the season before you're started, so that
- 12:20Speaker 2: you'll be okay for game week two, game week three.
- 12:22Speaker 2: Maybe you should not be needed really to change too
- 12:25Speaker 2: much of your team. If you've done it in the
- 12:27Speaker 2: right way. So I know, Kenny, you've got a few issues,
- 12:28Speaker 2: for example, but overall we said, don't panic. Usually your
- 12:32Speaker 2: squad at the start of the season is okay for
- 12:34Speaker 2: at least two or three games, so you should trust
- 12:36Speaker 2: in what you picked and why you picked us players
- 12:38Speaker 2: in the first place.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Yeah, I guess the only managers that maybe might have
- 12:41Speaker 1: real conundrum, Sam or if you've got a defense that
- 12:44Speaker 1: consists of share conser far so, etcetera, etcetera. If you've
- 12:48Speaker 1: got all of those players, then maybe you've got a problem.
- 12:50Speaker 1: I've got two of the mentioned there, but I've managed
- 12:53Speaker 1: to bench them and I look at the rest of
- 12:55Speaker 1: my team again, we two and I like it, and
- 12:58Speaker 1: I am conscious that if I wait a little bit,
- 13:00Speaker 1: can make more changes to my team. And it's another
- 13:02Speaker 1: week's worth of information. That's also what I think is
- 13:05Speaker 1: quite important at this stage of the season, banking up
- 13:07Speaker 1: the information from each game week. I think that's the
- 13:09Speaker 1: most important thing actually at this point in the season
- 13:12Speaker 1: is the game time. Looking at the team sheets, who
- 13:14Speaker 1: plays were and whether they are in the right.
- 13:17Speaker 3: Position to get you points. But it's very hard to
- 13:20Speaker 3: judge that on one set of ninety minutes, and so
- 13:24Speaker 3: being patient with your team is absolutely the right thing,
- 13:26Speaker 3: and Jews is right. You make your team selections going
- 13:29Speaker 3: into game week one for a reason, like you pick
- 13:32Speaker 3: these players because you think that they are going to
- 13:34Speaker 3: do well over the course of a period of weeks,
- 13:36Speaker 3: not just over one game week, and so ripping up
- 13:40Speaker 3: your team and starting again for me, anyway, unless you've
- 13:44Speaker 3: got multiple problems like you were saying, like if you've
- 13:46Speaker 3: got Barco who's gone out on loan, if you've got
- 13:48Speaker 3: Kwonta who is now a big doubt in terms of
- 13:50Speaker 3: whether he gets the starts or not. If you've got
- 13:53Speaker 3: you know, Pedro Poro who's flagged, if you're worried about
- 13:55Speaker 3: Enkunku because of the arrival of Joel Felix and the
- 13:58Speaker 3: fact that he went off on fifty seven minutes, all
- 14:01Speaker 3: of those problems, Yes, they're problems, but unless they're directly
- 14:05Speaker 3: ruled out in the case of like Barco and we'll
- 14:08Speaker 3: have to see on Poro, then it's probably worth just
- 14:11Speaker 3: taking that extra bit of breathing space, particularly if your
- 14:14Speaker 3: bench is strong enough to cover it. Like it sounds
- 14:16Speaker 3: like yours is kel.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Yeah that said, I did mean to get rid of
- 14:19Speaker 1: Quansa before his price druped the other day. But I
- 14:21Speaker 1: don't feel like I can blame my nine month old
- 14:24Speaker 1: or you care. I am going to blame her for
- 14:26Speaker 1: this one because I fell asleep early with her and
- 14:29Speaker 1: couldn't decide what to do. I was going to do
- 14:30Speaker 1: Conza for Robinson, I was, I wasn't I or maybe
- 14:33Speaker 1: I should use the million to go up to Porow.
- 14:34Speaker 1: I know Poro's flagged. Oh think about it when I'm
- 14:36Speaker 1: laying in bed with her next time and I've woken up.
- 14:38Speaker 1: It's seven in the morning when the price is dropped.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So I'm sure there's lots of people listening to this
- 14:42Speaker 1: podcast that have been there. A price droppers maybe caught
- 14:45Speaker 1: you out. Something to bear in mind this season. If
- 14:47Speaker 1: you can see, particularly early on, if you can see
- 14:50Speaker 1: that a player is being heavily transferred out or even in,
- 14:53Speaker 1: their price might rise or fall to just bear that
- 14:55Speaker 1: in mind to make sure you can still afford them
- 14:57Speaker 1: when you do go on to make that transfer. I've
- 14:59Speaker 1: also got to shout out someone that I know. Someone
- 15:02Speaker 1: I worked with this summer when I was away with
- 15:05Speaker 1: England sent me their FPL team and she said I'm
- 15:07Speaker 1: going to work really hard this year. I'm gonna I'm
- 15:09Speaker 1: going to try and really stick to it. Sent me
- 15:11Speaker 1: a team and I was like, that's a really nice team.
- 15:12Speaker 1: You've done really well to get kind of some big
- 15:15Speaker 1: players in there. And she's got Jotter in there, and
- 15:17Speaker 1: I was like, oh great, Yeah, I think jost is
- 15:19Speaker 1: a great option. It turns out there's a player called
- 15:21Speaker 1: Jotter Silver.
- 15:22Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 15:23Speaker 1: And so when I saw jot a return for it, yeah,
- 15:27Speaker 1: I don't know how she didn't notice after the game
- 15:29Speaker 1: weeks and I didn't get any points from Yotter because
- 15:31Speaker 1: it Jotta Silver. And I was like, so when she
- 15:34Speaker 1: sent me the screen wrap, i'd just seen the red
- 15:35Speaker 1: shirt and not zoomed in. I'm not going to name her,
- 15:38Speaker 1: but the only way is up from here. Because of course,
- 15:40Speaker 1: Jott's UNDERDOGO, isn't he in the game?
- 15:42Speaker 2: Yes?
- 15:43Speaker 1: Yeah? Yes, anyway, that was probably my favorite. It made
- 15:46Speaker 1: me feel so much better when I was a little
- 15:48Speaker 1: bit disappointed about my game week. So I'm not going
- 15:50Speaker 1: to name her, but yeah, better like next time. Okay,
- 15:54Speaker 1: On to price changes then I mentioned them.
- 15:56Speaker 2: Then.
- 15:56Speaker 1: At this stage of the season, it is so important,
- 15:59Speaker 1: particularly if you have no money in the bank, Sam,
- 16:03Speaker 1: just explain why it is so important and how it
- 16:05Speaker 1: can completely disrupt any plans you have for your team.
- 16:08Speaker 3: Yeah, so players, as you've seen this week Kelly, can
- 16:11Speaker 3: rise and fall. Now, this season has been a bit
- 16:13Speaker 3: of an anomaly really because there hasn't been very many
- 16:16Speaker 3: price changes so far. Usually after the Friday night first match,
- 16:20Speaker 3: we've seen multiple price changes by Saturday morning and you're
- 16:23Speaker 3: kind of sitting there going, oh goodness. But if you
- 16:26Speaker 3: lose point one in a player, it can make your
- 16:28Speaker 3: life really difficult because suddenly getting from one player to
- 16:31Speaker 3: the next, unless you've kept some money in the bank,
- 16:34Speaker 3: is almost impossible. You have to go down a price
- 16:36Speaker 3: point rather than being able to just go across from
- 16:39Speaker 3: a four point five to a another four point five,
- 16:42Speaker 3: because your players now anywhere four point four. So that
- 16:45Speaker 3: makes it difficult. But you also have to watch it
- 16:47Speaker 3: the other way as well, because if you want to
- 16:49Speaker 3: sell a player that's not dropping in price, but the
- 16:51Speaker 3: player you want to buy is going to rise in
- 16:54Speaker 3: price again, you can find yourself point one short. And
- 16:57Speaker 3: that point one is the most frustrating thing an every
- 17:00Speaker 3: ol manager because you can't get the player that you
- 17:03Speaker 3: really want to have, and then you're making compromises. So
- 17:06Speaker 3: that's why in preseason we were talking quite a lot
- 17:08Speaker 3: about leaving, you know, somewhere around the point five or
- 17:11Speaker 3: a million in your case Calves in the bank because
- 17:13Speaker 3: it allows you that flexibility to not have to panic
- 17:16Speaker 3: and the fact that cons has dropped, you don't need
- 17:18Speaker 3: to panic on it because you do have that extra
- 17:20Speaker 3: budget in the in the bank.
- 17:22Speaker 1: Yeah, a million though in the bank for me is
- 17:24Speaker 1: a bit wild, isn't it? Really? Never soon before Jeels,
- 17:28Speaker 1: I actually did it because you mentioned Rogers, and I
- 17:30Speaker 1: bought Rogers into my team. I basically downgraded Anthony Gordon
- 17:35Speaker 1: to be able to upgrade my defense to have Saliba
- 17:38Speaker 1: and Guardiol. And then I was like, do you know what,
- 17:41Speaker 1: I haven't gone to see Gordon. Now. I didn't love.
- 17:43Speaker 1: I can't be I put in a six point five.
- 17:46Speaker 1: But then I was like, I'm happy with Sakka Jotter,
- 17:49Speaker 1: the right Jotter, Eza and then smith Row and I
- 17:52Speaker 1: was like, and if I have Rogers as well, I
- 17:54Speaker 1: know that I've got two cheaper midfielders in there, but
- 17:56Speaker 1: they're two cheaper midfielders in smith Round Rogers that I
- 17:59Speaker 1: think could well, and I'll see how those two do
- 18:01Speaker 1: over the opening weeks, and that million just means I
- 18:04Speaker 1: can upgrade them if I want to, or some of
- 18:06Speaker 1: my budget defenders, the likes of Conzer bar So moscare,
- 18:09Speaker 1: I can upgrade those if I want to. So it
- 18:12Speaker 1: was madness, but it was madness with a bit of
- 18:15Speaker 1: a plan. Sam's vaguely nodding at me, which makes me
- 18:17Speaker 1: feel that it's not the most crazy thing I've ever done.
- 18:19Speaker 2: No, it's right, Yeah, it's good.
- 18:21Speaker 1: I'm surprised I managed to do it, to be honest, Yeah,
- 18:23Speaker 1: me too. It was literally just for the deadline. It
- 18:24Speaker 1: won't surprise you. And I was like, oh, it's making
- 18:26Speaker 1: me feel sick having a million in the bank. But
- 18:28Speaker 1: I think this is quite smart.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Just for once, it seemed that you had a plan.
- 18:31Speaker 2: So it's good because, as you know, it's all about talent,
- 18:34Speaker 2: planning and vision obviously.
- 18:35Speaker 1: So yeah, Jewels, for those of you that aren't watching
- 18:38Speaker 1: on YouTube, Jewels has just put his lovely notebook that
- 18:41Speaker 1: we gifted him when he won our leag lass. When
- 18:44Speaker 1: when when you won the league last year, you're not
- 18:47Speaker 1: winning it.
- 18:47Speaker 2: The I just forgot I won last year oh yeah,
- 18:50Speaker 2: you know four thousand in the world.
- 18:51Speaker 1: You've got a tattooed on your right arm, haven't you.
- 18:53Speaker 2: It's coming because I can't have it, because then I
- 18:55Speaker 2: can't ten if I've got the tattoo too early, so
- 18:58Speaker 2: it comes later. The fact that.
- 19:01Speaker 1: The price change is then rather than Jules's bodily tattoos
- 19:04Speaker 1: or whichever weird direction. So the price changes this week. Actually,
- 19:08Speaker 1: having said all that about price changes, it's been quite
- 19:11Speaker 1: a quiet week in terms of price changes. By Monday morning,
- 19:14Speaker 1: no players had risen or fallen in price. In fact,
- 19:16Speaker 1: only one player had been transferred in by over one
- 19:19Speaker 1: hundred thousand managers, which is very low. Sam, do we
- 19:21Speaker 1: quickly do we think that's just because managers are maybe
- 19:24Speaker 1: listening to us, taking our advice and just waiting to
- 19:27Speaker 1: feel things out a little bit.
- 19:28Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there's a few potential things. I think
- 19:30Speaker 3: it could be that people are having more patients this
- 19:32Speaker 3: year generally. Actually, people's teams did quite well in game
- 19:36Speaker 3: week one. The average was high, so it might be
- 19:38Speaker 3: that people feeling quite positive about their teams. It's possible
- 19:42Speaker 3: that people are thinking about the five transfers and the
- 19:44Speaker 3: fact that they don't have to make them and that's
- 19:46Speaker 3: why they're doing it. Maybe therefore people are planning rather
- 19:51Speaker 3: than impost reacting. Maybe people are listening to us more,
- 19:55Speaker 3: which is, you know, would be nice if that's the reason.
- 19:58Speaker 3: Maybe also people are starting to realize the importance of
- 20:00Speaker 3: press conferences at the back end of the week, and
- 20:02Speaker 3: maybe once to be here from the managers, we will
- 20:05Speaker 3: then see people get transferred out.
- 20:07Speaker 1: Like Poro.
- 20:07Speaker 3: I would expect if he gets ruled out by Postocoggli
- 20:10Speaker 3: that he would get sold quite heavily because at five
- 20:12Speaker 3: and a half you're not likely to keep him because
- 20:14Speaker 3: of the matches post Everton.
- 20:16Speaker 1: But yeah, I think there's a few reasons.
- 20:18Speaker 3: It could be kind of intrigued to see what happens
- 20:20Speaker 3: at the back end of the week and whether we
- 20:21Speaker 3: see more price rises and price falls than we have
- 20:24Speaker 3: so far.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Yeah, there's no rises at the time of recording on
- 20:28Speaker 1: Thursday morning, so we'll have to wait and see. Obviously
- 20:30Speaker 1: risers happen overnight UK time. In terms of the players
- 20:34Speaker 1: that have fallen, know not too many surprises here. I
- 20:36Speaker 1: don't think Ivan Tony after he missed out on the
- 20:39Speaker 1: Brentford squad with lots of speculation around him, Darwin Nunez Jewels.
- 20:43Speaker 1: Bit of heartbreak for you when you saw Nune's not
- 20:46Speaker 1: start and now he's price is falling.
- 20:48Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, it's not so much Darlin time at the
- 20:50Speaker 2: moment for him, which is.
- 20:51Speaker 1: Which is cheaper when you want to get him later
- 20:54Speaker 1: they yeah.
- 20:54Speaker 2: Exactly when. But yeah, it's just it doesn't look good though,
- 20:58Speaker 2: because your time looked so good in Liverpool attack, especially
- 21:01Speaker 2: in the second half for us though, because we've got yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 21:04Speaker 2: I know your friends so much before us. Yeah, it's good,
- 21:08Speaker 2: You've got the right job.
- 21:09Speaker 1: It's all right. And CON's are four point four million.
- 21:11Speaker 1: He is now Rodriy at Man's City and Jaden Sancho
- 21:16Speaker 1: his price also thought. Oh and Cody Gakpo and Gabrielle
- 21:18Speaker 1: Jesus are some of the later follers as well. If
- 21:22Speaker 1: we take a look at the transfer combinations on the
- 21:24Speaker 1: big assets, no surprise really see Habits is being transferred
- 21:28Speaker 1: in a lot of people ready losing patients with Oli
- 21:32Speaker 1: Watkins Jewels. Watkins has been transferred Fred out a lot
- 21:35Speaker 1: for Habits and Harland. I think I understand both of them. Yeah,
- 21:39Speaker 1: it feels quite early to do that now.
- 21:41Speaker 2: I think it is really early, like we said, I mean,
- 21:44Speaker 2: especially Odi Watkins. You know, if you if you've picked
- 21:47Speaker 2: somebody a bit random, let's say, but Odi Watkins, after
- 21:51Speaker 2: what happened last season and how good he was for
- 21:53Speaker 2: aston Villa in terms of gorge and even assist, as
- 21:56Speaker 2: we kept repeating last season, this surely deserves a bit
- 22:00Speaker 2: more of a chance and a bit more time. I mean,
- 22:03Speaker 2: Haveds was fantastic in that first game against Wards with
- 22:05Speaker 2: the goal and an assist that's not really an assist,
- 22:08Speaker 2: but it was just a pass that became an assist
- 22:10Speaker 2: because of saka As brilliance. But it counts in the game.
- 22:14Speaker 2: If you look at Arson's fixture list though, and like
- 22:17Speaker 2: Sam was saying a little bit the same for Spurs,
- 22:19Speaker 2: they will have City to play and Spurs to play
- 22:21Speaker 2: very soon now. So bringing habits I can understand. For Watkins,
- 22:26Speaker 2: I find out a little bit surprising. Really, I would
- 22:30Speaker 2: not if I if I had gone with what Kins first.
- 22:32Speaker 2: It's because you believe that over the first four or
- 22:34Speaker 2: five games, like we said, it can bring you something.
- 22:36Speaker 2: It's not because he blanked against a stamp away from
- 22:39Speaker 2: home in the tough first game that suddenly Watkins is
- 22:42Speaker 2: a bad player. So I always struggled a little bit
- 22:45Speaker 2: to see a big name like Watkins being sold quite heavily,
- 22:50Speaker 2: really and transfer out quite heavily for someone like Havetz,
- 22:53Speaker 2: who has very difficult games coming over.
- 22:55Speaker 1: Can perhaps understand it a little bit more. If maybe
- 22:57Speaker 1: you weren't too sure about going without Harland and then
- 23:00Speaker 1: you see him score early on against Chelsea and then
- 23:02Speaker 1: you check his fixtures and you realize you've made a
- 23:04Speaker 1: massive mistake. I can understand that one.
- 23:06Speaker 2: Yeah, that one is more understandable.
- 23:07Speaker 1: Yet, Yeah, I can also understand looking at the transfer combination.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Sam over thirty thousand people have done both of these
- 23:12Speaker 1: transfers Cole Palmer to most Sala or Bocayo Saka. Again,
- 23:17Speaker 1: though Chelsea didn't look too bad, there's a bit of
- 23:20Speaker 1: remember who they were playing against. They were playing against
- 23:22Speaker 1: Manchester City. But it maybe goes back to the fact
- 23:25Speaker 1: that Cole Palmer is very expensive, is very high priced,
- 23:29Speaker 1: and if you're going without Mosala and Baciosaka, who are
- 23:32Speaker 1: very high owned and they're going to keep returning, you
- 23:34Speaker 1: could end up falling behind early on. Do you understand
- 23:37Speaker 1: those transfer combinations?
- 23:38Speaker 3: Yeah? Absolutely, I think Cole Palmer is if you watch
- 23:42Speaker 3: the game as well, I agree with you. I thought
- 23:43Speaker 3: Chelsea actually were quite good in that game, but he
- 23:45Speaker 3: was very wide And if you're watching Palmer as an
- 23:49Speaker 3: FBL owner of him, I can see why people would
- 23:52Speaker 3: be frustrated about that because he wasn't as involved in
- 23:54Speaker 3: the player as we would have wanted and as we
- 23:57Speaker 3: would have seen last season. I mean last season he
- 23:59Speaker 3: had three range to literally do whatever he wanted and
- 24:01Speaker 3: be wherever he wanted. This season, particularly game we won,
- 24:05Speaker 3: not so much. It was a bit more of a
- 24:07Speaker 3: that's your place, that's where you'll be, and that's where
- 24:09Speaker 3: he was, and if that continues to be his place,
- 24:11Speaker 3: then I would.
- 24:12Speaker 1: Have doubts about having him.
- 24:15Speaker 3: But equally, the Chelsea fixtures are actually really nice. They've
- 24:18Speaker 3: got a really nice block of fixtures coming up. They
- 24:20Speaker 3: had a very difficult home game to start the season.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I mean pretty much the only fixture they could have
- 24:25Speaker 3: had that would have been harder, and that was if
- 24:26Speaker 3: they had to go to Manchester City. It was a
- 24:29Speaker 3: difficult start to the season. I actually thought they played
- 24:31Speaker 3: quite well, but yeah, I can understand it for the
- 24:34Speaker 3: two players that people are going to because also if
- 24:36Speaker 3: you go from Palma to Soaca, you're saving a little
- 24:38Speaker 3: bit of money as well, and that little bit of
- 24:40Speaker 3: money might be able to help you with your cons
- 24:42Speaker 3: a issue if you didn't leave money in the bank. Obviously,
- 24:45Speaker 3: if you're going up to Sala, then you've got to
- 24:47Speaker 3: find some money. So also maybe you're therefore selling Palmer
- 24:50Speaker 3: for a hit to get Salah, and that also feels
- 24:53Speaker 3: a little bit reactionary. It feels like you're not having
- 24:56Speaker 3: the patience with Palmer because you have picked him to
- 24:59Speaker 3: start season four a reason, knowing you have man City
- 25:02Speaker 3: at the beginning, and knowing that he missed all of
- 25:04Speaker 3: pre season pretty much with being out with England at
- 25:08Speaker 3: the Euros. So I think if you've got Palmer, I'd
- 25:11Speaker 3: be a little bit more patient. But I do understand
- 25:14Speaker 3: it if you want to get Salar in because his
- 25:16Speaker 3: fixtures are really lovely too.
- 25:17Speaker 1: Should we talk about my salary a little bit? Because
- 25:19Speaker 1: we all opted to go without the Egyptian king because
- 25:21Speaker 1: we couldn't fit him in. They've got a lovely run
- 25:24Speaker 1: of fixtures, As Jules you said, Jotta did look good
- 25:27Speaker 1: when he played, and we've all got him. But how nervy?
- 25:30Speaker 1: Are you not to have Salah?
- 25:33Speaker 2: It's always there's always that feeling, isn't it when you
- 25:36Speaker 2: watch him, especially when you're taking in consideration his own
- 25:41Speaker 2: fbl at heritage to start with, And then how good
- 25:44Speaker 2: it still is? I mean, I fed Jota could easily
- 25:46Speaker 2: have had a hat trick in that game and out
- 25:49Speaker 2: pointed is that word I would pointed more solid easily,
- 25:52Speaker 2: And in the end it just didn't work out because
- 25:56Speaker 2: and like what he usually does, was to be wasteful
- 25:58Speaker 2: in front of God that heades, espcially before he scored
- 26:01Speaker 2: his goal. I have to say I was surprised how
- 26:06Speaker 2: good Mosala was in the second half and how good
- 26:10Speaker 2: Liverpool of Road changed everything. I have time pretty much
- 26:12Speaker 2: to be that good. I didn't expect to be able
- 26:15Speaker 2: to compete for the whole ninety minute physically, especially like
- 26:18Speaker 2: they did in the first forty five minutes. But still
- 26:20Speaker 2: I thought Salah was outstanding really and that made me think, wow, okay,
- 26:24Speaker 2: I can't. I tried to bring him in and have
- 26:26Speaker 2: a decent team around. As we explained last week, I
- 26:29Speaker 2: I just justly didn't like it. I didn't like the team,
- 26:31Speaker 2: I didn't like the draft that could have had, so
- 26:33Speaker 2: in the end I chose not to. But again it's
- 26:36Speaker 2: always the same and we repeat it every time. But
- 26:37Speaker 2: it's true. Salah is amazing. But if you replace him
- 26:41Speaker 2: with the right people, so Jota could be one and
- 26:43Speaker 2: then somebody else, even like a Solonki or someone like that.
- 26:47Speaker 2: If you can make up the point that you would
- 26:48Speaker 2: not have by not having Salah, that's fine. If you
- 26:51Speaker 2: pick the wrong people, then that's going to hurt you heavily.
- 26:54Speaker 2: And like we've said earlier, the people who captain Salah
- 26:57Speaker 2: for this game week one, obviously are all at the
- 26:59Speaker 2: top of the world ranking, every ranking, every mini league,
- 27:03Speaker 2: everything you want, because that was the right guy to
- 27:05Speaker 2: not just have but also captain. So well done to them,
- 27:08Speaker 2: But it's not the end of the world. If you
- 27:10Speaker 2: don't have him, you will find another way of getting
- 27:12Speaker 2: other players with big points and big points tally. It's
- 27:16Speaker 2: just that, please Mosala, don't do that every weekend.
- 27:19Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah, this is a notice from everyone here at
- 27:22Speaker 1: the FPR Pod. We're having to go without you, so
- 27:25Speaker 1: please don't punish us, please please please, But I do
- 27:28Speaker 1: see Diego Jotter is a bit of a gift in
- 27:30Speaker 1: a way. Sam because I feel like at the moment
- 27:33Speaker 1: with Manchester City, yes, Phil Foden is going to get
- 27:37Speaker 1: better with more game time and maybe we'll be able
- 27:39Speaker 1: to look elsewhere with him, but I feel like it's
- 27:41Speaker 1: harder to cover Harland's points at Manchester City, so we've
- 27:44Speaker 1: kind of all had to go find that fifteen million
- 27:46Speaker 1: for Harland. Whereas with the way that Diego Jotter is
- 27:50Speaker 1: playing and the position that he's playing in that Liverpool
- 27:52Speaker 1: team at seven point five million, as Joe said, it's
- 27:55Speaker 1: kind of another way of getting into that Liverpool attack
- 27:58Speaker 1: and maybe softening the blow not having Salah.
- 28:01Speaker 3: I think the narrative here would have been very, very
- 28:04Speaker 3: different if Jotta puts that other opportunity away and he
- 28:08Speaker 3: ends up so grace because we are looking at this
- 28:11Speaker 3: as FBR managers, going, well, Jotta got e but Salah
- 28:16Speaker 3: was epic and you know, was the highest scoring player
- 28:19Speaker 3: in the game week and all of that stuff. And
- 28:21Speaker 3: I was just listening to what Geors was saying then
- 28:23Speaker 3: and thinking, yeah, it's absolutely right, because I watched that
- 28:26Speaker 3: Liverpool game and I was like, I've made a horrible mistake.
- 28:30Speaker 3: But the thing I said to Lea at full time
- 28:33Speaker 3: was well, it's all on Arsenal now because in not
- 28:35Speaker 3: having Salah, I had Saliba and Soaka and then Poro.
- 28:39Speaker 3: So I was like, if those three go and do
- 28:43Speaker 3: what I'm hoping that they do, then the decision not
- 28:46Speaker 3: to have Salah was still the correct one because I
- 28:48Speaker 3: had Jotta as well, and actually as the game we
- 28:50Speaker 3: played out, it was the right decision for me not
- 28:53Speaker 3: to have Salah. Now, going into this week, I don't
- 28:55Speaker 3: feel so confident because obviously Arsenal have a much more
- 28:58Speaker 3: difficult fixture. They've got to go to aston Villa and
- 29:01Speaker 3: spurs porros it out. So I'm kind of like now thinking, oh,
- 29:05Speaker 3: the Salah not having him is difficult. But I am
- 29:07Speaker 3: looking at Jota and I'm thinking he's five million less,
- 29:11Speaker 3: and that five million shouldn't be We can't just compare them.
- 29:14Speaker 3: I mean we nearly could, to be honest, if Jotta
- 29:16Speaker 3: puts that chance away, then we can nearly compare them
- 29:19Speaker 3: like for like, but we shouldn't really do that because
- 29:22Speaker 3: it's five million difference in price point. I think Jota
- 29:25Speaker 3: is a gift to us at the moment, the way
- 29:27Speaker 3: that he played against Ipswich. Now I know that you've
- 29:30Speaker 3: got Darwin and Gagpo and these guys in the background,
- 29:33Speaker 3: but Darwin doesn't even get on the pitch in game
- 29:35Speaker 3: week one. He brings on Gagpo instead. I think that
- 29:38Speaker 3: front three of Das, who nobody's been talking about, because
- 29:40Speaker 3: he was the only one that didn't do anything, but
- 29:42Speaker 3: he was good in that game. The three of them, Das,
- 29:45Speaker 3: Jotter and Salah played so well together that moving forward,
- 29:49Speaker 3: it does feel like you can have a little bit
- 29:52Speaker 3: more fun with your Liverpool pick, whereas your right kels.
- 29:56Speaker 3: At the minute with man City, it's very hard to
- 29:59Speaker 3: look away from because you don't know who's going to
- 30:01Speaker 3: get the starts.
- 30:02Speaker 1: So we all we're all happy. It sounds like we
- 30:05Speaker 1: all want Sala. Of course we want Sala. Who wouldn't
- 30:07Speaker 1: want Sala. You're not playing FPR right if you don't
- 30:09Speaker 1: want my salad quite frankly. But we're all pretty happy
- 30:11Speaker 1: with the way we based our team and the way
- 30:13Speaker 1: we set our team up, using Diogo Jottra as our
- 30:16Speaker 1: Liverpool cover and going with Harland over him, and looking
- 30:20Speaker 1: at those fixtures now, Jewels and particularly starting with this week,
- 30:24Speaker 1: if you haven't gone with Harland, if you've gone with
- 30:26Speaker 1: the other one and just gone sala. You'd be pretty nervous,
- 30:28Speaker 1: wouldn't you more nervous than we probably are not having
- 30:30Speaker 1: sala right now?
- 30:31Speaker 2: Yeah, I think so. I mean for City to win
- 30:34Speaker 2: the way they did that Chelsea with literally it looked
- 30:37Speaker 2: like they were in second gear the whole game. They
- 30:39Speaker 2: were just never panicking. They were in food control, even
- 30:42Speaker 2: when Chelsea were good, even when Nicol Jackson has that
- 30:44Speaker 2: chance one Niel in the second half. You know, all
- 30:47Speaker 2: of that City looked I just I don't know, they
- 30:50Speaker 2: look so imperioused I thought, and they were not even
- 30:53Speaker 2: fifty percent of what they could do, really, And now
- 30:56Speaker 2: the ad Gundoan back to the squads to have just
- 30:59Speaker 2: another option which is going to make it more difficult
- 31:01Speaker 2: for us, but another option for peb And and Foden
- 31:05Speaker 2: is going to ba to come back to full fitness walkers,
- 31:08Speaker 2: so they're going to get even better and stronger. And
- 31:11Speaker 2: now we're just a bit more time. So I fear
- 31:14Speaker 2: for if switch. It's going to be a great day out.
- 31:16Speaker 2: If you're a cheeran, go to Manchester. I mean I
- 31:19Speaker 2: was there yesterday. It was cloudy but it didn't rain.
- 31:22Speaker 2: Go have have fun. But you're going to get smashed,
- 31:25Speaker 2: and if you get smashed, the Handling Highland is going
- 31:29Speaker 2: to probably have a bit of a feast. So this
- 31:32Speaker 2: is the way it is, you know. But yeah, I
- 31:34Speaker 2: think the whole game is going to keep talent.
- 31:36Speaker 1: Please. It's probably the most tricky fixture they'll have this season,
- 31:39Speaker 1: but the wording.
- 31:40Speaker 2: Is going to be difficult for them. They get beaten heavily,
- 31:43Speaker 2: That's what I meant. If they get beaten heavy.
- 31:45Speaker 1: It's half against Liverpool in particular, I thought, I think
- 31:48Speaker 1: they can cause a few teams a few problems this year.
- 31:50Speaker 1: Do not agree sound totally.
- 31:51Speaker 3: I actually was really impressed by which I'm not sure
- 31:54Speaker 3: whether they were playing on adrenaline in that.
- 31:58Speaker 1: That'm so jealous of any that was there. Alict incredible den.
- 32:01Speaker 3: I know right it was. It was a fantastic first
- 32:03Speaker 3: half of football. They were ips which were really impressive.
- 32:06Speaker 3: I was like, oh, hello, there are a few options
- 32:10Speaker 3: in this Ipswich team.
- 32:11Speaker 1: You didn't go and.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Leave Davis in the end of you No, I didn't,
- 32:13Speaker 3: And actually, looking back on I was, I know I
- 32:16Speaker 3: should have done, but it'll be more fun if you had,
- 32:19Speaker 3: I know, but maybe I might because remember.
- 32:22Speaker 1: Maybe I will now I haven't got any defenders, so yeah.
- 32:24Speaker 3: But my original one, no, my original plan was to
- 32:28Speaker 3: downgrade Poro at some stage anyway to a four point five,
- 32:30Speaker 3: and I thought, by the time I want to do
- 32:31Speaker 3: that after game week two then leave Davis's fixtures.
- 32:34Speaker 1: Are really nice.
- 32:35Speaker 3: But at points during pre season I had Hutchinson in
- 32:38Speaker 3: my team as well as a cheap option, and I
- 32:41Speaker 3: was quite impressed by him as well. I think there
- 32:43Speaker 3: are a number of options at Ipswich and we will
- 32:46Speaker 3: all be like, oh my goodness, it's the hardest picture
- 32:48Speaker 3: they're going to have this year in game we two
- 32:49Speaker 3: and it absolutely is. So I wouldn't recommend you do
- 32:51Speaker 3: it now. But from game week three onwards, they've got
- 32:54Speaker 3: a really nice block of fixtures where you could see
- 32:56Speaker 3: them getting some FBL points and maybe they're they're not
- 32:59Speaker 3: bad picks from that moment on, but I can't see
- 33:02Speaker 3: them getting much away at Manchester City.
- 33:04Speaker 2: What is wrong? Something wrong?
- 33:08Speaker 1: But I was just offering some balance because it's a
- 33:10Speaker 1: pretty tricky start to the season for them, having Liverpool
- 33:13Speaker 1: and then Manchester pretty much and I did think that
- 33:16Speaker 1: they I did think that they're really impressive at times
- 33:18Speaker 1: and there are team. As Sam said, in a few
- 33:20Speaker 1: game weeks, I'm sure we'll be talking about a little
- 33:23Speaker 1: bit more. Okay, I've digressed a lot and produced Jesse,
- 33:25Speaker 1: I'm giving a bit of fame to quite a lot
- 33:27Speaker 1: on the podcast. Now hasn't next me yet, but at
- 33:29Speaker 1: some point we'll be like, this wasn't in the plan?
- 33:31Speaker 1: Where are you going with this? Keep on, keep on
- 33:34Speaker 1: on target, well going talking of targets, top targets for
- 33:38Speaker 1: game week two. Interestingly, last season, twenty eight percent of
- 33:41Speaker 1: the overall managers signed up to FPL between game week
- 33:44Speaker 1: one and two. So if you have got a friend
- 33:47Speaker 1: or a family member or someone who's toying with starting
- 33:49Speaker 1: playing this season and they said, oh, I've already missed
- 33:52Speaker 1: a game week and what, it's not too late. It's
- 33:55Speaker 1: never too late, but particularly at this stage of the season,
- 33:57Speaker 1: you're only going to be a few points behind. It'll
- 33:59Speaker 1: only take a few game weeks or one good captaincy
- 34:01Speaker 1: pick to catch up. So do do kind of encourage
- 34:04Speaker 1: people to join in top targets? So, Jules, who would
- 34:08Speaker 1: you be looking at this week if you were going
- 34:10Speaker 1: to go against Star Offce and maybe making early transfer.
- 34:14Speaker 2: It's a tricky one. I think again after after game
- 34:17Speaker 2: week one, because you don't you don't have you don't
- 34:19Speaker 2: have this trend.
- 34:20Speaker 1: You know.
- 34:20Speaker 2: Okay, we said, well begged did well, you had other
- 34:23Speaker 2: really good performers, but for they might blank in game
- 34:26Speaker 2: week two. It's just hard after just one game. I
- 34:30Speaker 2: guess if something didn't work in your team, so you've got,
- 34:32Speaker 2: like you said, either somebody's flagged or injured or suspended
- 34:36Speaker 2: or has left the Premier League, has left the club
- 34:39Speaker 2: something like that, then you need to change. Depending on
- 34:42Speaker 2: if he's a defender, midfielder or forward. I think, as
- 34:45Speaker 2: we've been saying, a pick like then weall back, for
- 34:48Speaker 2: example at pone, if you're looking for that kind of
- 34:50Speaker 2: budget player, it's really good now that we know. For example,
- 34:54Speaker 2: if you're looking for Liverpool defender and you can't afford
- 34:57Speaker 2: any Robertson or try Alexander Arnold and Virgin von Dyke,
- 35:01Speaker 2: maybe Aconnactive would be a good pick because as we saw,
- 35:04Speaker 2: he studied the ship in the second half. If switch
- 35:06Speaker 2: and you would start in game week two. So it's
- 35:09Speaker 2: just opportunities like that I think make it worth it
- 35:12Speaker 2: for people if really you want to change your squad,
- 35:14Speaker 2: I would again advise not to make too many changes
- 35:18Speaker 2: and not to go for too many different things for gamework. Two.
- 35:21Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so we spent this whole podcast and don't
- 35:23Speaker 1: be too hasty with your transfers. Probably don't make one
- 35:26Speaker 1: this week. And then I've asked you which transfer you
- 35:27Speaker 1: would make, Sam, I'll make this a more pointed question.
- 35:30Speaker 1: It seems like most people, if they are going to
- 35:33Speaker 1: make a transfer, it's because of those defensive issues that
- 35:35Speaker 1: I spoke about. If you are looking for a cheap
- 35:38Speaker 1: defender to take the place of some of the players
- 35:40Speaker 1: that we've mentioned, your Barcoe Conzo, any of those maybe
- 35:43Speaker 1: even poorer if he's ruled out, who would you suggest
- 35:45Speaker 1: they look at? I mean, I think there's two ways
- 35:47Speaker 1: of looking at this.
- 35:48Speaker 3: You either look at it by saying who's got the
- 35:50Speaker 3: best ficture this week? And if you're doing that, then
- 35:52Speaker 3: you're looking at a cheap asset from Spurs or Fulham,
- 35:56Speaker 3: maybe even Southampton. So you've got you know, Van der Ven,
- 35:59Speaker 3: You've got Robinson at Fulham. You've got maybe even Harvard
- 36:03Speaker 3: Bellis at Southampton who's just four. So if you're looking
- 36:05Speaker 3: for a Barcoe replacement, you could go like for like
- 36:07Speaker 3: in terms of that position. But if you're building a
- 36:10Speaker 3: team from scratch, and if you are coming into it
- 36:13Speaker 3: ahead of game week two and that's going to be
- 36:15Speaker 3: your first week, then I think you have to look
- 36:16Speaker 3: at it slightly differently and you have to look slightly
- 36:18Speaker 3: more long term. If you're doing that, then the teams
- 36:21Speaker 3: that you're going to target are going to be different. Potentially,
- 36:23Speaker 3: you'd still got Fulham in there, so Robinson is looking
- 36:26Speaker 3: like a fantastic cheap option. But you've also got other
- 36:30Speaker 3: players from teams like Southampton who remain a nice pick
- 36:33Speaker 3: moving forward in terms of the fixtures anyway. But you
- 36:35Speaker 3: also get clubs like Crystal Palace and Chelsea who come
- 36:39Speaker 3: up with nice fixtures once we get a couple more
- 36:42Speaker 3: weeks down the lines. So looking at teams like them
- 36:45Speaker 3: and Aston Villa, who've got one of the most difficult
- 36:48Speaker 3: games coming up in game week two, but after that
- 36:50Speaker 3: really good fixtures, they're the kind of teams that I'd
- 36:54Speaker 3: be looking at. But for me right now, the standout
- 36:56Speaker 3: four point five is Anthony Robinson at for them.
- 37:00Speaker 1: I totally agree that was the transfer I wish i'd done,
- 37:02Speaker 1: and I wish I had, but inadvertently I'm taking the
- 37:05Speaker 1: advice of this podcast, not through my actual own choice. Okay,
- 37:09Speaker 1: time for Differential of the Week. Sam, Come on, then
- 37:12Speaker 1: you keep it tally of this. You've got your head
- 37:13Speaker 1: in your hands. Didn't start worlded it?
- 37:16Speaker 3: Well, I blame you for this, cow Yeah, because last
- 37:20Speaker 3: week he went all strict and we're like, no, you
- 37:22Speaker 3: can't do this, and you can't.
- 37:22Speaker 1: Do a new season. You have to start a new
- 37:24Speaker 1: school term strict. That's what I'm doing. I'm doing hand
- 37:26Speaker 1: actions that demonstrate that I am cracking the whipth this season.
- 37:30Speaker 3: To be fair, when I was back in my teaching days,
- 37:32Speaker 3: that was always my policy, start strict and then because
- 37:36Speaker 3: I'll be.
- 37:36Speaker 1: Like, do whatever you want. Yeah exactly.
- 37:40Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 37:41Speaker 3: So you were like, we had two random differentials of
- 37:44Speaker 3: each last week. So Jaws ended up with how that happened, well,
- 37:49Speaker 3: because she randomly said we had to have two because
- 37:52Speaker 3: you weren't. We weren't supposed to have Jotta, but anyway,
- 37:54Speaker 3: we won't go back there. So you had Jotta and
- 37:56Speaker 3: Mintas obviously got eight. Minta got four before going off,
- 38:01Speaker 3: so eyes on him as well going into this week,
- 38:04Speaker 3: and I do I had Bowen and smith Row, both
- 38:07Speaker 3: of them great pis not great. Well, I still think
- 38:10Speaker 3: smith Row might be a great pick in fl moving forward.
- 38:13Speaker 3: But wasn't a great difference.
- 38:14Speaker 1: It was it was a bold It was a bold
- 38:16Speaker 1: pick for manu iced away on the opening day.
- 38:18Speaker 3: It was Yeah, I mean he did go off before
- 38:20Speaker 3: the clean she went, so at least he got three
- 38:22Speaker 3: rather than two.
- 38:22Speaker 1: But yeah, are we counting that as a return? Probably? No, No,
- 38:25Speaker 1: we're not handing that as a return. So how many
- 38:27Speaker 1: get So I got five, I got twelve, So you
- 38:31Speaker 1: went this week?
- 38:32Speaker 3: But you know I'm leading in the mini league, so
- 38:34Speaker 3: we'll just do a role reversal for this time.
- 38:36Speaker 1: We still got George just puffed his chest up, rubbed
- 38:38Speaker 1: his and it looks even worse because he's got like
- 38:40Speaker 1: a T shirt with some weird gold thing on. It
- 38:43Speaker 1: was like rubbing the gold bit as if if it
- 38:45Speaker 1: was like a trophy or something weird. So Jules has
- 38:49Speaker 1: the upper hand there. Sam is just about leading.
- 38:51Speaker 2: Just very clever picks from George. That's what That's what
- 38:53Speaker 2: I mean.
- 38:54Speaker 1: Yeah, then which clever pick have you got for us
- 38:55Speaker 1: this week? When I can go first?
- 38:57Speaker 2: Okay, so this week I picked Jimmy Vardy obviously who's
- 39:02Speaker 2: having a party, a massive party.
- 39:04Speaker 1: Do you come for him because you look femie? No,
- 39:07Speaker 1: I haven't. I just thought it was random because Jamie VARDI.
- 39:10Speaker 1: Did you see?
- 39:10Speaker 3: There was a clip that the Premier League put out
- 39:12Speaker 3: of Jamie Vardy and they asked him the question that
- 39:14Speaker 3: they asked all Premier League players, why should people go
- 39:17Speaker 3: for you inn fpo And he went, don't waste your money?
- 39:19Speaker 1: And I loved it so much.
- 39:22Speaker 3: Did you enjoy his message to the Spurs fans as
- 39:24Speaker 3: he came now, I did enjoy his message to the
- 39:26Speaker 3: Spurs fans and it literally was fueled by just Red
- 39:29Speaker 3: Bull as he was drinking in the tunnel coming out
- 39:31Speaker 3: for the second half.
- 39:32Speaker 1: I wasn't happy with Jamie Vardy so but.
- 39:35Speaker 2: Jimmy Vardy really scored one a good head that helped
- 39:39Speaker 2: by obviously the Spurs marking, as we know in our
- 39:42Speaker 2: Spurs don't know how to mark people. But then he
- 39:45Speaker 2: could have scored a second one to referred to him
- 39:47Speaker 2: and I expected him to score that one even on
- 39:50Speaker 2: his left foot looked it looked good. He's thirty seven
- 39:53Speaker 2: years old. He can't play high intensity football for nineteen
- 39:57Speaker 2: minutes every single game of the season, so at some
- 39:59Speaker 2: point he would get raced, he would come off early,
- 40:01Speaker 2: like we saw in the game on Monday night, but
- 40:04Speaker 2: aware Fulham where you would expect Fulham to have a
- 40:06Speaker 2: lot of the ball unless they can play on the
- 40:08Speaker 2: counter attack. I think this is perfect for Vardi five
- 40:11Speaker 2: point five million, owned by three point one percent of
- 40:13Speaker 2: the managers, eight points returning that first game against Spurs.
- 40:16Speaker 2: Could have been more, should have been more. So Yeah,
- 40:18Speaker 2: Jimmie party, to have another Jimmy party, Jimmy Vardy to
- 40:21Speaker 2: have another party at the weekend again.
- 40:25Speaker 1: Jamie party for Joe. What about you, Sam? So I
- 40:29Speaker 1: actually had two. One of them is completely out there,
- 40:31Speaker 1: so I might just give.
- 40:32Speaker 2: A just speak one that night, bring you some points.
- 40:35Speaker 1: Just okay.
- 40:36Speaker 3: So this is a This is an absolute heart overhead
- 40:39Speaker 3: pick because you know, if in doubt Spurs and so
- 40:43Speaker 3: I've gone for Jane from Madison this week and so
- 40:48Speaker 3: he's only owned by four point eight percent of the
- 40:50Speaker 3: game and I spent all of pre season going don't
- 40:52Speaker 3: buy Madison. I don't think he's a great FPR pick.
- 40:54Speaker 3: I think there are better picks at Spurs. All of
- 40:56Speaker 3: that stuff However, he actually impressed me against Leicester in
- 41:01Speaker 3: that first half. I thought he was really good. Spurs
- 41:04Speaker 3: called four times against game week two opponents Everton. Last
- 41:07Speaker 3: season he Madison missed the home game through injury, but
- 41:10Speaker 3: he did get an assist in the away fixture last
- 41:11Speaker 3: time around. He tends to base himself closer to the
- 41:15Speaker 3: left where Sun is and as a result of that,
- 41:18Speaker 3: I think that will be the side that Spurs identify
- 41:21Speaker 3: as Everton's weak point because that's where Ashley Young should
- 41:23Speaker 3: be and clearly he is suspended having got his red
- 41:26Speaker 3: card in game Week one, so I think there's most
- 41:28Speaker 3: likely to be more Spurs attacks down that side with
- 41:31Speaker 3: Madison and Son. He also has the set piece threat.
- 41:35Speaker 3: Spurs had thirteen corners on Monday night. He took twelve
- 41:38Speaker 3: of them. Porridn't tech any, which was interesting to me.
- 41:41Speaker 3: He only didn't take the thirteenth one because he wasn't
- 41:44Speaker 3: on the pitch when we got that one.
- 41:45Speaker 1: The same with three kicks, he took three.
- 41:47Speaker 3: Of the four that we had and again I only
- 41:48Speaker 3: didn't take the last one because he wasn't on the
- 41:50Speaker 3: pitch at that point. And actually, when you look across
- 41:53Speaker 3: the Spurs team. Only Son had more touches in the
- 41:55Speaker 3: final third against Leicester on Monday than Madison did, so
- 41:58Speaker 3: it was very advanced on set uses. It's a nice
- 42:01Speaker 3: home fixture against an Everton defense that looked weaker. So
- 42:04Speaker 3: I've gone from Medisine.
- 42:05Speaker 2: It's a really good pick after that. More seriously now,
- 42:08Speaker 2: because we talked earlier, I was as impressed as some
- 42:12Speaker 2: wise on Monday night buy medicine.
- 42:14Speaker 1: To be fair, you to agree it's happened very often, to.
- 42:18Speaker 2: The point that I thought about bringing him in into
- 42:20Speaker 2: my team for again week two and I would wait,
- 42:23Speaker 2: I would wait here feel very yeah, no, no, no, no,
- 42:27Speaker 2: it's I agree it was. I thought it was really
- 42:30Speaker 2: really sharp physically too, and I was standing.
- 42:32Speaker 1: I'm a bit said that you're going to go on
- 42:34Speaker 1: some I was going to say.
- 42:35Speaker 3: Just just in case he does really well. My backup
- 42:38Speaker 3: pick was Flynn Downs from Southampton.
- 42:43Speaker 1: He was yourself there though, because you've used it, because
- 42:46Speaker 1: I don't like if you want to use Flint Downs again,
- 42:49Speaker 1: just going to go no, no, no.
- 42:50Speaker 2: You can't.
- 42:50Speaker 1: But I just I'm just he's not my pick.
- 42:53Speaker 3: I'm just making it out there because it's the fixture
- 42:54Speaker 3: that I'm I'm I'm kind of particularly like the first
- 42:57Speaker 3: home game of the season. Only three midfielders have more
- 43:01Speaker 3: creative more times.
- 43:01Speaker 1: All right, guys, we're not going to be doing two
- 43:03Speaker 1: picks a week now a new podcast watch. It's just
- 43:10Speaker 1: I don't think it's going to get as many lessons
- 43:11Speaker 1: with let's transition just one podcast. You've agreed on that,
- 43:14Speaker 1: and I'm pretty sure you're going to agree on this
- 43:16Speaker 1: last bit Earling Harland captain. Do we need to have
- 43:20Speaker 1: a conversation? Probably not. Do we need to have a
- 43:23Speaker 1: conversation though, as they did on off the Bench about
- 43:26Speaker 1: a potential triple captain Julian.
- 43:29Speaker 2: Larron, Yeah, I think that's a better conversation to have.
- 43:32Speaker 2: As we've said in the in our preview shows, we
- 43:35Speaker 2: know that because of the way that the FA Cup
- 43:38Speaker 2: will happen this season, we will have less double game
- 43:41Speaker 2: week for a team like City for example, will always
- 43:44Speaker 2: go very fine in the Cup, which means that they
- 43:48Speaker 2: might not be many, maybe not at all, double game
- 43:52Speaker 2: week for City and Harlan to play, and that's usually
- 43:55Speaker 2: where we play our a triple captain because you know,
- 43:57Speaker 2: somebody like him with two games in the same week
- 43:59Speaker 2: that count for the same game week in the game,
- 44:01Speaker 2: then it's a lot of points that you can that
- 44:03Speaker 2: you can obviously travel. So if you forget about the
- 44:07Speaker 2: wole game week and just think about single game week.
- 44:11Speaker 2: I mean if Switch at Home for City is a
- 44:14Speaker 2: game that you would expect him scored. The only thing
- 44:16Speaker 2: I would say, it's so early in the season that
- 44:19Speaker 2: I'm a bit skeptical about the triple Captain so early.
- 44:23Speaker 2: This is if this game was in game week twelve,
- 44:25Speaker 2: I probably would play Triple Captain on Halands on game
- 44:29Speaker 2: week two. I'm not sure I will be just brave enough. Really,
- 44:32Speaker 2: that's that's all to do it. Because it's still so early.
- 44:35Speaker 2: I don't think it's fully fully match fit. I think
- 44:37Speaker 2: if Shich have still a lot of energy and they
- 44:39Speaker 2: will fight a lot like they did against Liverpool in
- 44:41Speaker 2: that first half, So there might be a mistake and
- 44:44Speaker 2: he might score a hat trick and then the Triple
- 44:45Speaker 2: Captain will be wise would have been wise. But I'm
- 44:48Speaker 2: not sure I'm brave.
- 44:49Speaker 1: Enough now if he blanks It's a long old season
- 44:52Speaker 1: to regret that decision for, isn't it. That's the way
- 44:54Speaker 1: I look at it. But you all know I like
- 44:55Speaker 1: leaving my Chips quite late. It's no surprise I've not
- 44:57Speaker 1: even considered it some of you.
- 45:00Speaker 3: I considered it fleetingly, and my decision came down to
- 45:04Speaker 3: that I don't think Manchester City are yet Manchester City
- 45:09Speaker 3: like you. They've got a lot of players still coming
- 45:10Speaker 3: back from the summer, and I just think in three
- 45:13Speaker 3: four five game weeks time that Manchester City team, their
- 45:17Speaker 3: performances will be significantly better to.
- 45:20Speaker 1: What they might be now.
- 45:22Speaker 3: And that's saying something because they've played well against Chelsea
- 45:24Speaker 3: and they dominated in terms of they controlled that game
- 45:27Speaker 3: really nicely, and I think that they'll do the same
- 45:29Speaker 3: this time. But I just think further into the season
- 45:32Speaker 3: we'll see it a better Manchester City side when you've
- 45:34Speaker 3: got the Roder's and the Fodens and everybody match of
- 45:37Speaker 3: it and back in the team and knowing what everybody
- 45:39Speaker 3: is doing. Whereas right now I have just a few
- 45:43Speaker 3: niggles about man City, not in terms of them winning,
- 45:46Speaker 3: but just in terms of are they fully up to
- 45:48Speaker 3: speed right now?
- 45:49Speaker 1: And because of that.
- 45:50Speaker 3: That makes me want to leave the Chip until I
- 45:52Speaker 3: know I've got a team in perfect form and a
- 45:55Speaker 3: player in perfect form, because that feels like the best
- 45:58Speaker 3: combination for playing that Shipple cut.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Okay, if you don't have Harlan, so we're all going
- 46:02Speaker 1: to captain him. We're not going to triple captain him
- 46:04Speaker 1: if you were one of those brave managers that didn't
- 46:06Speaker 1: go with Harland this season. By the way, over two
- 46:09Speaker 1: hundred and sixty seven thousand managers have currently triple captain him.
- 46:12Speaker 1: So's that triple captain on him. That's credit for numbers
- 46:16Speaker 1: for us. Yeah, that's just the active chips.
- 46:18Speaker 3: But I would be very surprised if many of those
- 46:21Speaker 3: are going anywhere other than on Harlem.
- 46:23Speaker 1: It's quite early for that many triple captains to be active,
- 46:26Speaker 1: isn't it. Yeah, it's a big week for triple captains.
- 46:29Speaker 1: I think a lot of managers are looking at it
- 46:31Speaker 1: potentially with a view that you know, how often maybe
- 46:35Speaker 1: with the rolling of the transfers thing, people are thinking, well,
- 46:37Speaker 1: maybe I won't always have Harlan in my team. Maybe
- 46:39Speaker 1: I'll be swapping around the premiums and saving transfers here
- 46:43Speaker 1: and there. So now I've got Harlan.
- 46:45Speaker 3: He says he's in the best form ever going into
- 46:48Speaker 3: the season, and he's fully fit and all of that stuff,
- 46:50Speaker 3: and it's a really great fixture and it's a home fixture,
- 46:53Speaker 3: so I can see why people are doing it, and
- 46:55Speaker 3: it is a big number of people and it will
- 46:57Speaker 3: undoubtedly go up as we get.
- 46:59Speaker 1: Closer to the deay line as well. Okay, so if
- 47:01Speaker 1: you aren't triple captaining Harland or if you can't, aren't
- 47:04Speaker 1: captain him. And what I'm starting to say before was
- 47:06Speaker 1: if you don't have him in your tea jels, who
- 47:10Speaker 1: would be the best other option. I'm thinking that if
- 47:13Speaker 1: you don't have Horland in your team, you're likely to
- 47:15Speaker 1: have Salad. You're probably captain him.
- 47:17Speaker 2: Do you think, yeah, Salah makes sense one of the
- 47:19Speaker 2: Liverpool one of Salah I think the most informed. Really,
- 47:25Speaker 2: if you want to go for an Arsenal player like
- 47:27Speaker 2: a Saka Harvard to wear a Villa on the late
- 47:31Speaker 2: game on Saturday, that will be brave really because again
- 47:36Speaker 2: this this is going to be a really tough game.
- 47:37Speaker 2: Remember Arsenal lost over there last season. Even if they
- 47:40Speaker 2: played really well and probably deserve more than that defeat.
- 47:44Speaker 2: New Canst wear Bornmouth again to go back to our
- 47:46Speaker 2: Issac pig. That's tricky. So yeah, I think it makes
- 47:50Speaker 2: sense if you don't have if you don't want if
- 47:52Speaker 2: you don't have Holland, or you don't want Harland, this
- 47:54Speaker 2: captain to go with one of the Liverpool boys.
- 47:56Speaker 1: Do you agree, Sam? And I'm wondering if, if, maybe,
- 47:58Speaker 1: if you don't have Horland, a lot of people might
- 48:00Speaker 1: have Fodon or might be bringing Phoden in now that
- 48:03Speaker 1: he's kind of back. Could he be another option against Ipswich.
- 48:06Speaker 3: Yeah, I think Phone will get the start against it
- 48:09Speaker 3: Switch in game week two. I would expect that he would.
- 48:11Speaker 3: So if you don't have Harlan, but you have Phone
- 48:13Speaker 3: and you could absolutely go there. I agree with Jews
- 48:15Speaker 3: on the Jotta and the salapis. I also think that
- 48:18Speaker 3: the Spurs attack is probably a decent differential punt for
- 48:22Speaker 3: the captaincy against Everton. I also think that Esak could
- 48:26Speaker 3: still be a good captaincy punt in game week two, though,
- 48:29Speaker 3: because in reality the reason that he doesn't get more
- 48:32Speaker 3: points probably falls at Fabian Shah's feet a little bit
- 48:36Speaker 3: for that red card, because the game fundamentally changed and
- 48:39Speaker 3: like Southampton conceded the fewest chances in game week one,
- 48:43Speaker 3: which is madness when you think about how we were
- 48:46Speaker 3: all like, oh, it could be an absolute hatful for Newcastle.
- 48:50Speaker 3: Games change on sendings off and it definitely changed the
- 48:52Speaker 3: way that Newcastle attacked, whereas going into game week two,
- 48:56Speaker 3: I would expect that they wouldn't be kind of so
- 48:58Speaker 3: chained up, I guess in terms of the attack. So yeah,
- 49:03Speaker 3: I think he could still be an option, but Liverpool
- 49:06Speaker 3: or another Manchester City attacker if it's foed and they
- 49:08Speaker 3: feel like the obvious ones.
- 49:10Speaker 1: Yeah they do indeed. Okay, so I think we're all set.
- 49:12Speaker 1: No transfers across the pod, is that correct. We're all
- 49:16Speaker 1: taking our own advice and being patient, and we're all
- 49:18Speaker 1: captaining not triple captaining Harland. We're quite original this week. Okay,
- 49:24Speaker 1: So that's where we all leave it. Thanks as always, guys.
- 49:27Speaker 1: Also I should say a quick thank you. I'm not
- 49:29Speaker 1: if you're watching on YouTube, you'll notice I'm not in
- 49:31Speaker 1: my usual place. I'm actually at a Premier League football club.
- 49:34Speaker 1: I'm at let's get this.
- 49:35Speaker 2: Out working now.
- 49:41Speaker 1: I'm hosting an event here later today, so big thank
- 49:44Speaker 1: you to them for lending me the space to do
- 49:46Speaker 1: the podcast this morning. I just feel a bit bad
- 49:48Speaker 1: now that we haven't spoken about any of their FPL players,
- 49:51Speaker 1: but I'm sure we will at some point during the season, Sam,
- 49:54Speaker 1: do you want me to pass on the thanks for
- 49:56Speaker 1: them giving you forward? Give them a big hug and
- 49:58Speaker 1: say thank you very much for me. It was a
- 50:00Speaker 1: I will do potentially though. Some exciting signings happening here
- 50:04Speaker 1: at Bournemouth. We didn't get time to speak about them
- 50:05Speaker 1: this week, but I get the feeling we will be
- 50:07Speaker 1: talking about them in the coming weeks. But that's why
- 50:09Speaker 1: we all leave at a reminder, your deadline is eleven
- 50:11Speaker 1: am on Saturday. That's ninety minutes ahead of Brighton versus
- 50:15Speaker 1: Manchester United. The Saturday morning Panic is back, especially if
- 50:19Speaker 1: you know is Kelly Summers. A reminder off the bench
- 50:22Speaker 1: is also back with you throughout this season. It was
- 50:24Speaker 1: with us on Monday, and this week it will be
- 50:26Speaker 1: Johnny and Praz talking you through all the game week
- 50:28Speaker 1: to talking points. I also feel quite bad because obviously
- 50:30Speaker 1: I present the Fantasy Show, the TV show, and I
- 50:33Speaker 1: haven't mentioned once that that's been back. We've already done
- 50:35Speaker 1: two shows of that and we will be back on Friday.
- 50:37Speaker 1: And I'm told there's going to be a familiar face
- 50:39Speaker 1: alongside me on the sofa. Sam, It's me already your
- 50:42Speaker 1: second appearance of the season as well, so if you
- 50:44Speaker 1: haven't had enough of Sam Kelly, make sure you tune
- 50:46Speaker 1: in in the UK that will be on Sky Sports
- 50:49Speaker 1: and TNT. It will also be on the Premier League
- 50:50Speaker 1: website app and if you're listening around the world check
- 50:54Speaker 1: out the listings. I don't know exactly where it goes
- 50:55Speaker 1: out in every country, but it does go out somewhere,
- 50:58Speaker 1: so please do join us for that and myself, Sam
- 51:00Speaker 1: and George will be back together as always next Thursday
- 51:03Speaker 1: in your podcast feed. We do love it if he
- 51:05Speaker 1: rates and review, and also don't forget to join us
- 51:08Speaker 1: in that FPL pod Mini League. The very best of
- 51:11Speaker 1: luck and remember Captain Harland we might regret it. By bye.
