- 0:00Speaker 1: Okay, so there's this question going around right now based
- 0:02Speaker 1: from this article. And it's like, what makes being single
- 0:06Speaker 1: worth it? Because everyone always talks about finding your person,
- 0:08Speaker 1: but nobody ever talks about the little luxuries that you
- 0:11Speaker 1: give up once you find one.
- 0:26Speaker 2: I think about them all the time. Of course you do, John.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Like someone said, when they put something down, it is
- 0:34Speaker 1: still there eight weeks later, untouched.
- 0:37Speaker 2: That's such a good one. That is a good one, man.
- 0:39Speaker 2: I put down a spoon and it's gone in five seconds.
- 0:42Speaker 1: And think about everything else, too, so you don't have
- 0:44Speaker 1: any in-law visits, no splitting holidays, no negotiating what's for dinner.
- 0:49Speaker 1: If you don't feel like cleaning the bathroom after you
- 0:51Speaker 1: get ready, you don't have to.
- 0:52Speaker 3: Well, you've skipped over a big one. No negotiating what's
- 0:54Speaker 3: for dinner. Whatever you're hungry for, you have.
- 0:56Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 0:57Speaker 3: And now you've got the world of DoorDash and Postmates
- 1:00Speaker 3: and Uber Eats up open to you.
- 1:02Speaker 2: You could be living the life. Yeah.
- 1:04Speaker 3: Uh-huh.
- 1:05Speaker 1: This one, I kind of, I get. And, I mean,
- 1:07Speaker 1: we talk about sleep divorce all the time. I mean,
- 1:09Speaker 1: you get your own bed. Like, unlimited personal space. Your
- 1:12Speaker 1: schedule is completely yours. You can go wherever, whenever you want.
- 1:15Speaker 1: And you don't have to send a, hey, babe, just
- 1:17Speaker 1: so you know text.
- 1:19Speaker 2: Yeah, why it's great to be single. And there's a
- 1:21Speaker 2: difference between being single, being alone, and being lonely. Like
- 1:25Speaker 2: if you watch Ted Lasso right now, it's season five,
- 1:28Speaker 2: he's single and they're trying to get him to date,
- 1:31Speaker 2: but he doesn't seem to be lonely. Like he seems
- 1:33Speaker 2: to be fine being single. And I think that's a
- 1:35Speaker 2: big thing. Like, like I could be, if something, God
- 1:38Speaker 2: forbid happened to my wife, Blake being single, I could
- 1:41Speaker 2: totally handle it. I think it's great. I think it's fantastic.
- 1:45Speaker 3: Stop sounding a little too excited about it.
- 1:47Speaker 4: John Jay.
- 1:48Speaker 2: Let's just say, for.
- 1:49Speaker 3: Example, someone cut her brakes. You could be single, but
- 1:55Speaker 3: you need a lot of people to take care of
- 1:56Speaker 3: stuff that Blake does. Like, you would need, like, the
- 1:59Speaker 3: laundry person, you get the mail person.
- 2:02Speaker 2: Before I was married, my mom did it for me,
- 2:05Speaker 2: and then I would go to fluff and fold. As
- 2:07Speaker 2: a single person, who would pay your bills? I'd probably
- 2:10Speaker 2: find somebody to do that. You think there's a lot
- 2:15Speaker 2: going on in your house now. Wait till you're single. Right.
- 2:17Speaker 2: But anyway, is there more things on that list? Because
- 2:19Speaker 2: people are calling in right now.
- 2:20Speaker 1: Yeah, it kind of wraps up with the deeper part
- 2:23Speaker 1: of being single because being single can actually force you
- 2:26Speaker 1: to figure out who you are when you're not factoring
- 2:28Speaker 1: another person into every single decision. Sometimes those single years
- 2:32Speaker 1: are the years that you fact yourself.
- 2:33Speaker 2: Okay, let's see. Megan, why is it great to be single?
- 2:37Speaker 4: All right, so... One person can't be everything, right? Like,
- 2:43Speaker 4: I've got one guy who is, like, really good with
- 2:46Speaker 4: emotional support, another guy who's, like, good with dirty talk,
- 2:51Speaker 4: another one who is, like, really cute and.
- 2:54Speaker 5: Cuddly and we watch movies. Like, no one person can
- 2:59Speaker 5: satisfy everything.
- 3:00Speaker 2: Oh, okay. That's interesting.
- 3:02Speaker 1: You get to play the game a little bit when
- 3:03Speaker 1: you're single.
- 3:04Speaker 2: That's interesting. Okay, Megan, thank you very much. Thank you. Raquel,
- 3:08Speaker 2: why is it great to be single?
- 3:10Speaker 4: You know, it's kind of like I feel like it's
- 3:13Speaker 4: like scrolling on Zillow. You know what I mean? Like
- 3:16Speaker 4: I'm I'm not going to buy the house, but I
- 3:18Speaker 4: want to like I'm zooming in on the baseboards and
- 3:20Speaker 4: the crown molding. I want to see what everything looks like.
- 3:23Speaker 4: And like I want to know the square footage before I,
- 3:26Speaker 4: you know, maybe put in an application or like. You know,
- 3:31Speaker 4: is it walkable?
- 3:32Speaker 5: Like, what's the landscaping like?
- 3:34Speaker 4: Is the neighbor's house maybe nicer than this house?
- 3:37Speaker 3: You're never going to buy a house and you're never
- 3:40Speaker 3: going to get a boyfriend. Those two things are true.
- 3:42Speaker 2: Just always shopping. But those are all the things you
- 3:44Speaker 2: do when you are single, it sounds like, to find somebody.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Yeah, I love to shop. I love the shopping.
- 3:50Speaker 3: Of it all.
- 3:52Speaker 2: Thanks, Raquel. Hey, Brooke, why is it great to be single?
- 3:56Speaker 5: Hey, first of all, before we get into it, I
- 3:58Speaker 5: just want to say I am a huge fan. I
- 4:00Speaker 5: absolutely love all of you guys. I'm thrilled to be
- 4:02Speaker 5: on the radio with you right now. It's such an honor.
- 4:05Speaker 5: I've been listening to your station since it was Crazy
- 4:07Speaker 5: Kid and Ruben F.
- 4:08Speaker 2: Wow. We took over after those guys.
- 4:12Speaker 5: I've been listening ever since. I love you guys. Thank you. So,
- 4:16Speaker 5: that's out of the way. I have a list, but
- 4:18Speaker 5: my biggest stuff is Not having to answer to anybody
- 4:22Speaker 5: when you want to have a girl's night with your friends.
- 4:24Speaker 5: You don't have a guy following you around like a
- 4:26Speaker 5: puppy crying because he's not there.
- 4:27Speaker 2: He can't come.
- 4:30Speaker 5: Like, you know, that definitely. Being able to watch whatever
- 4:34Speaker 5: I want on TV ain't nothing better than Netflix and
- 4:37Speaker 5: chilling by yourself, if you know what I mean. So,
- 4:42Speaker 5: you know, Netflix, chill by yourself. You can do it.
- 4:45Speaker 5: yourself anytime you.
- 4:45Speaker 2: Want and you can go to sleep wow.
- 4:48Speaker 5: You know i'd like asking dylan what do i say
- 4:50Speaker 5: that's appropriate before i go on i don't want to
- 4:53Speaker 5: offend anybody.
- 4:53Speaker 2: I don't really do that with netflix yeah.
- 4:57Speaker 5: No i mean well we all know.
- 5:00Speaker 2: What that means.
- 5:02Speaker 5: But yeah right background noise that gets you in the
- 5:04Speaker 5: mood you know light a candle.
- 5:09Speaker 4: All right, Brooke.
- 5:11Speaker 3: I'm surprised you had time to call in. You sound busy.
- 5:13Speaker 5: Oh, I'm actually, I just pulled up to work. I
- 5:16Speaker 5: have a training about a little over a half hour,
- 5:18Speaker 5: but no, it's okay. I mean, I actually work three jobs.
- 5:23Speaker 5: I work as many jobs.
- 5:23Speaker 2: As I have kids.
- 5:25Speaker 5: And I'm proud to report that I'm a very happy woman,
- 5:28Speaker 5: recently divorced. My divorce was finalized beginning of last month.
- 5:32Speaker 5: And I am happy, very happy to be where I am.
- 5:35Speaker 5: Very happy to be single.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Have you got any dates yet?
- 5:38Speaker 5: Uh, yeah, actually, it's so funny you ask. So I actually, um,
- 5:42Speaker 5: I'm not going to say what spa I work in,
- 5:44Speaker 5: but I work in a spa. I'm an esthetician. I've
- 5:46Speaker 5: been doing it for over a decade. And there's a
- 5:49Speaker 5: guy who is very interested in me. He seems, but
- 5:51Speaker 5: it's been a lengthy process. We've been like kind of
- 5:53Speaker 5: just friends for the last year and a half. I've
- 5:55Speaker 5: been trying to get through the divorce last year and
- 5:57Speaker 5: a half. And he's coming in to get a facial
- 6:00Speaker 5: from me. He's very cute. He's I mean, he seems,
- 6:06Speaker 5: I don't know what the deal is. It's just taking
- 6:07Speaker 5: forever for anything to develop.
- 6:09Speaker 2: With this guy.
- 6:09Speaker 5: But he tips me fast. He has money, clearly.
- 6:12Speaker 2: So you're going to be all like popping his pimples
- 6:15Speaker 2: and stuff, getting really intimate in his face.
- 6:17Speaker 5: He has, well, I wish I could do more than that,
- 6:19Speaker 5: but I got to be professional at work.
- 6:20Speaker 3: Hello. Hello.
- 6:26Speaker 2: Yeah, literally.
- 6:27Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, the walls are paper thin.
- 6:30Speaker 1: Like, no.
- 6:30Speaker 5: And there's a button on the bed that if there's
- 6:33Speaker 5: an emergency, what if we accidentally press it?
- 6:35Speaker 3: You really thought this through.
- 6:38Speaker 5: Dude, it's like a fantasy I have that I will
- 6:40Speaker 5: never act on because as much as I joke, I
- 6:43Speaker 5: am extremely professional.
- 6:52Speaker 2: I don't really care what they think or say.
- 6:57Speaker 1: It's true.
- 6:58Speaker 2: I've fallen for me and it's going hella great. Well,
- 7:02Speaker 2: I'm so glad you listened. I'm so glad you called in, Brooke.
- 7:04Speaker 2: Thank you so much for listening.
- 7:05Speaker 5: You are such a fair girl. Sorry for kind of
- 7:08Speaker 5: going off about how great you guys are, but I
- 7:09Speaker 5: love you guys.
- 7:10Speaker 2: Are you kidding me? We need it. We don't get
- 7:11Speaker 2: that from anywhere else, especially not management. All right. Thanks, Brooke.
- 7:16Speaker 4: All right, cool.
- 7:17Speaker 5: Love you guys. Have a good day.
- 7:18Speaker 2: Bye-bye.
