- Lucas: Welcome back to Learn French with Fexingo. I'm Lucas. Luna: And I'm Luna. Episode 112! Can you believe it? Lucas: I know. And today we're heading somewhere that smells absolutely amazing. Luna: Oh, I love the sound of that. Where are we going? Lucas: To a French bakery. A boulangerie. Think fresh croissants, pain au chocolat, all warm and flaky. Luna: Okay, you had me at croissant. I'm ready. Lucas: So the first thing you'll say when you walk in is 'Je voudrais un croissant.' That's 'I would like a croissant.' Let's break it down. Je voudrais un croissant. Luna: Je voudrais un croissant. Lucas: Perfect. 'Je voudrais' is a polite way to say 'I would like.' Try it again. Luna: Je voudrais un croissant. Lucas: Exactly. Now what if you want a pain au chocolat, that chocolate-filled pastry? You say 'Je voudrais un pain au chocolat.' Say it with me, Luna. Luna: Je voudrais un pain au chocolat. Lucas: Great. So you can say 'Je voudrais un croissant' or 'Je voudrais un pain au chocolat.' But you also need to ask how much it costs. So you say 'C'est combien?' That means 'How much is it?' Luna: C'est combien? Lucas: Yes. And the baker might reply 'C'est deux euros cinquante.' That's 'It's two euros fifty.' Say it. Luna: C'est deux euros cinquante. Lucas: Nice. And while you're deciding, the baker might ask 'Et avec ceci?' That's 'And with this?' So they're asking if you want anything else. Luna: Et avec ceci? Lucas: Yeah. And when you're done you say 'Ce sera tout, merci.' That means 'That will be all, thank you.' Luna: Ce sera tout, merci. Lucas: Perfect. Let's put it all together in a mini scene. I'll be the baker, you be the customer. Ready? Luna: Ready. Lucas: Bonjour, madame. Que désirez-vous? Luna: Je voudrais un croissant et un pain au chocolat. Lucas: Très bien. Et avec ceci? Luna: Ce sera tout, merci. C'est combien? Lucas: C'est deux euros cinquante. Luna: Voilà. Merci! Lucas: You did great. And that's a real French bakery exchange. Luna: Hey, you know, if Fexingo has been helping you make actual progress with your French, a couple of dollars a month is genuinely what keeps these going.
