  Speaker 1: I'm not packed, but I am ready to go. I

  Speaker 1: love Australia so much. I was just there with the

  Speaker 1: guys and I got this wonderful opportunity to come over

  Speaker 1: with Steel Panther, and uh, I'm super psyched about it.

  Speaker 1: So uh, you know, whenever we come to Australia, you know,

  Speaker 1: not a lot of times we get to go to Perth.

  Speaker 1: So I'm super excited to get back to Perth. I'n't

  Speaker 1: been to Perth since I think I went with Manson,

  Speaker 1: but I know I went with Katie Lang a long

  Speaker 1: time time ago, so I'm really excited to get back

  Speaker 3: game of things for you, But what's sorts of things

  Speaker 3: you did to mentally and physically prepare for runhom shows

  Speaker 1: Yeah, it is, you know it is. It's not easy,

  Speaker 1: but you know I love it. It's you know, I

  Speaker 1: love Australia and I love to to get over there.

  Speaker 1: So I just try to, you know, stay healthy, get sleep,

  Speaker 1: eat right and you know, have a great time. And

  Speaker 1: it's really I'm being honest, like, Australia is one of

  Speaker 1: my favorite places to come and place, so because it

  Speaker 1: doesn't seem you know, I've been there so many times.

  Speaker 1: I just know where everything is and it and it

  Speaker 1: feels very comfortable to me, if you will. I know

  Speaker 1: that sounds odd, but it does feel very comfortable to me.

  Speaker 1: And I have friends there, so it's it's really really

  Speaker 3: And I'm guessing that you're becoming with your band John

  Speaker 1: Yes? Yes, And uh we're gonna be doing a lot

  Speaker 1: of crazy music, so it's it's it's gonna be something else.

  Speaker 1: I've never been there solo with the instrumental, so uh,

  Speaker 1: you know it's gonna be people. I know a lot
• 2:25
  Speaker 1: of people are really excited for it. So and I

  Speaker 1: am too. We're gonna do a bunch of cool songs

  Speaker 1: and we're gonna actually record the shows for a live record.

  Speaker 2: And did you say it's gonna be crazy? Might define crazy?

  Speaker 1: Yeah? Yeah, so it's we're gonna do let's see. I

  Speaker 1: wanted to say, we're gonna do. We're gonna do yeah,

  Speaker 1: certain songs. I'm actually gonna play a song that is

  Speaker 1: not released, and we're gonna film the video and uh,

  Speaker 1: we'll film it for the for the live record too,

  Speaker 1: so that'll be very special. We're gonna film it in

  Speaker 1: each city in Australia.

  Speaker 2: And did did you say instrumental?

  Speaker 2: They are going to be instrumental shows.

  Speaker 1: Yeah, it's all it's yeah, I've I haven't been there instrumental,

  Speaker 1: So it's all instrumental. There's no singing. The last you

  Speaker 1: want to hear is me sing ah.

  Speaker 2: You're as bad as I am.

  Speaker 3: I Yeah, you're more accustomed these ice topplying full headline sets,

  Speaker 3: might say, is it gonna be difficult to adjust to

  Speaker 3: doing a support act like some of like you you

  Speaker 3: just be just be starting to get going after forty minutes.

  Speaker 1: No, you know, I don't think so. I think that

  Speaker 1: We're just gonna squeeze as much as we can in

  Speaker 1: and give give everybody, you know, a wonderful show. It's

  Speaker 1: gonna be a lot of notes in a short amount

  Speaker 1: of time, so we're just gonna squeeze it all in

  Speaker 1: and have a good time doing it. We might do

  Speaker 1: a Mantley cru Medley too.

  Speaker 3: Oh no, you're pretty much your late addition to this too, bro.

  Speaker 3: So what do you think that you're going to bring

  Speaker 3: entertainment wise? Like all these people that have been sitting

  Speaker 3: on the fence, what's John five going to do to

  Speaker 3: make it well worthwhile?

  Speaker 1: I think the first thing is I've never been there
• 4:19
  Speaker 1: playing my instrumental music, So I think people hopefully will
• 4:23
  Speaker 1: be excited for that because you know, they've never seen

  Speaker 1: me play live instrumentally there, so I think that will
• 4:32
  Speaker 1: be exciting. And I'm going to play songs from you know,
• 4:36
  Speaker 1: most of my records and you know, just because people
• 4:42
  Speaker 1: haven't seen it. So I think that will be exciting
• 4:44
  Speaker 1: for me and hopefully the crowd as well.

  Speaker 2: So what can people expect from a John five live show? Brad?

  Speaker 3: Like I say, you haven't been out here as an
• 4:52
  Speaker 3: instrumental before, say painting a picture first, what are you
• 4:55
  Speaker 3: going to get I'm going to.

  Speaker 1: Be playing some different instruments. Uh, we're gonna do that medley.

  Speaker 1: It's gonna be you know, a bunch of crazy instrumental songs.

  Speaker 1: It's gonna be it's gonna be like getting on a
• 5:11
  Speaker 1: roller coaster and then uh, you know, because it really
• 5:15
  Speaker 1: doesn't really slow down for forty minutes, so it's gonna
• 5:19
  Speaker 1: be pretty wild.

  Speaker 3: Now you've had a long and distinguished careem, I'd say,
• 5:25
  Speaker 3: we've haven't got time to go through all of it,
• 5:27
  Speaker 3: but I want to pick up from when you were
• 5:29
  Speaker 3: eight a and you drive to La to pursue a session.

  Speaker 3: Guitarist Koreem, I'd like, what was going through your head
• 5:35
  Speaker 3: back then packing everything up and head in La.

  Speaker 1: I was very nervous because I didn't have like any money.
• 5:44
  Speaker 1: I just had a car, my uh, you know, a
• 5:46
  Speaker 1: car and my guitar, and but I knew I had
• 5:51
  Speaker 1: to go after my dream because if I didn't, I
• 5:54
  Speaker 1: was never going to do it. You know, if you
• 5:57
  Speaker 1: don't get up and do like what you want to do,
• 6:02
  Speaker 1: life will get in the way. Maybe a girlfriend that
• 6:07
  Speaker 1: turns into a wife that turns into a child and
• 6:11
  Speaker 1: you know, another job, and so you know, life just
• 6:16
  Speaker 1: will get in the way. So I just wanted to
• 6:19
  Speaker 1: leave as soon as I could and pursue my dream.

  Speaker 3: And what happened when you actually hit La? Was it
• 6:26
  Speaker 3: everything you expected? Or is it a bit if a
• 6:28
  Speaker 3: culture shot? No.
• 6:31
  Speaker 1: I have been coming out to LA since I was very,
• 6:34
  Speaker 1: very very young with my family because my grandparents lived
• 6:37
  Speaker 1: in Palm Springs, so I was very prepared. And but
• 6:42
  Speaker 1: it is, you know, I wouldn't live anywhere else in
• 6:46
  Speaker 1: the world. I really really love it so much. It's
• 6:50
  Speaker 1: it's uh and I always have loved it my whole life,
• 6:54
  Speaker 1: just because everything is here and everything has happened here.
• 6:59
  Speaker 1: So all the great all of my favorite records and
• 7:03
  Speaker 1: bands and venues and things like that have happened here.

  Speaker 3: So once you sort of got youell I and he
• 7:14
  Speaker 3: got established, mat Like, is your career being sort of
• 7:17
  Speaker 3: planned out from there? Did you map out way once
• 7:19
  Speaker 3: you go? Was it just more a series of things
• 7:22
  Speaker 3: falling into place for you?
• 7:24
  Speaker 1: You know it was I was just trying to make
• 7:28
  Speaker 1: the right decisions because you know, with certain groups I
• 7:33
  Speaker 1: was playing with, or certain sessions I was doing, or
• 7:36
  Speaker 1: certain albums I was working on. You know, hopefully things
• 7:41
  Speaker 1: fall into place. And I think being a good person
• 7:46
  Speaker 1: and you know, doing right and keeping you know, having
• 7:51
  Speaker 1: a good reputation and you know, taking music very seriously,
• 7:56
  Speaker 1: everything should fall into place. You know, everything should fall
• 8:01
  Speaker 1: into place if you're you know, a good musician, responsible.
• 8:06
  Speaker 1: You know, of course you have to live with people.
• 8:08
  Speaker 1: So being a kind person and doing it the right way,
• 8:12
  Speaker 1: I think everything should be all right. And so far
• 8:15
  Speaker 1: everything's been just great.
• 8:18
  Speaker 3: At what point of view, cram I, did you sort
• 8:20
  Speaker 3: of sit back and look around and fuck me, I've
• 8:24
  Speaker 3: done it.

  Speaker 2: This is where I want to be.

  Speaker 1: I think my very first major tour with Katie Lang
• 8:33
  Speaker 1: it really hit me. I was playing a TV show
• 8:36
  Speaker 1: with her and I looked out in the crowd and
• 8:39
  Speaker 1: there was Prince and Madonna and all these celebrities and
• 8:42
  Speaker 1: I was like, I was shocked, and they were all
• 8:45
  Speaker 1: looking at me, and I was like that really, I
• 8:48
  Speaker 1: think was the moment where I was like, wow, this
• 8:51
  Speaker 1: is very very strange and exciting.

  Speaker 2: You've done a lot musically private. Is there anything left
• 9:03
  Speaker 2: on your bucket list?
• 9:03
  Speaker 3: Anything left to chick off for you?
• 9:08
  Speaker 1: You know, luckily, I've had such an incredible career I'm
• 9:15
  Speaker 1: so happy and content where I am. But that's not
• 9:19
  Speaker 1: always a good thing. It's it's it's not good to
• 9:22
  Speaker 1: be content and things like that. So I'm what I
• 9:28
  Speaker 1: do is, yes, I'm very happy. I wouldn't want to
• 9:31
  Speaker 1: join any other band or anything like that. It's like
• 9:34
  Speaker 1: not a very exciting thing to say, but it's a
• 9:36
  Speaker 1: game for me because really trying to reach for perfection
• 9:40
  Speaker 1: is almost impossible. So that's that's what I like to
• 9:44
  Speaker 1: do with every show and every recording. That's it's just
• 9:48
  Speaker 1: a little game I play.

  Speaker 3: Cool Now, you mentioned before being in Motley, Crebro and
• 9:54
  Speaker 3: you guys have just released an EP called Canceled, Say,
• 9:58
  Speaker 3: how's the experience of making that album? Like an you
• 10:00
  Speaker 3: toyed with the guys before, but how was the experience
• 10:02
  Speaker 3: that actually got into the studio.
• 10:05
  Speaker 1: It was cool because with Bob Rock, I've never worked
• 10:07
  Speaker 1: with Bob Rock before, so it was really really exciting.
• 10:12
  Speaker 1: And because we all played at the same time in
• 10:17
  Speaker 1: the live room, so Tommy was set up, Nicki was
• 10:20
  Speaker 1: set up, I was set up, and we just all
• 10:24
  Speaker 1: knocked out these songs and so when you listen to it,
• 10:28
  Speaker 1: those are all live performances. And it went by so
• 10:32
  Speaker 1: fast though, I was like, is that it is? That?
• 10:35
  Speaker 3: It? You know?
• 10:36
  Speaker 1: So it really went by quick?
• 10:41
  Speaker 2: Was that just like I tested it with a full
• 10:44
  Speaker 2: album to come up with Mito? Is that sort of
• 10:46
  Speaker 2: way you're playing for now?
• 10:48
  Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know what they have in store,
• 10:51
  Speaker 1: but I think we're always going to be writing, recording,
• 10:55
  Speaker 1: playing shows. Nobody has talked about any kind of end

  Speaker 1: in sight because we're all just having such a great time.

  Speaker 3: Wait, now you're in Australia next week. As we say,
• 11:10
  Speaker 3: it was still pantom Height. But what's next for John five?

  Speaker 2: After that? Jo? What do you get on the horizon?

  Speaker 1: After that, I'm going to China And after China then
• 11:20
  Speaker 1: I come back here do some more shows, and then
• 11:24
  Speaker 1: next year, early next year, we're doing a residency in
• 11:28
  Speaker 1: Las Vegas with Motley Cruz. So there's a lot going on.

  Speaker 1: There's always a lot going on, which I'm very very
• 11:35
  Speaker 1: very thankful for.
