Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You're listening to Bill Handle on demand from KFI AM
- 0:04Speaker 1: six forty.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Three KFI AM six forty Bill Handle here. It is
- 0:16Speaker 2: a momentous Monday. That's the way we should call Monday's
- 0:19Speaker 2: momentous Mondays, because that's what they seem to be lately.
- 0:22Speaker 2: October thirteenth and the big news, and we're watching this
- 0:24Speaker 2: in real time. First of all, the hostages several hours ago,
- 0:29Speaker 2: all twenty hostages were released, the ones that we're still alive. Now,
- 0:35Speaker 2: the bodies, the remains of the ones still held by
- 0:38Speaker 2: Hamas who are deceased. They figured it out twenty eight
- 0:42Speaker 2: of those those will be coming over, but obviously concentrate
- 0:45Speaker 2: on the.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Ones that were alive and they now are back on
- 0:50Speaker 1: Israeli soil. The President.
- 0:54Speaker 2: Is in Israel. He flew out to celebrate that. He
- 0:59Speaker 2: also spoke in front of the Kanesset a little while
- 1:02Speaker 2: ago and rightly took credit for it. He was introduced
- 1:07Speaker 2: by the Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as the greatest president
- 1:12Speaker 2: that ever lived. Without his help, that is, without President
- 1:17Speaker 2: Trump's help, this probably this would not have happened.
- 1:20Speaker 1: And he's right.
- 1:21Speaker 2: The President was able to pull all of this together
- 1:24Speaker 2: because he's Donald Trump. He's Donald Trump, who happens to
- 1:29Speaker 2: be president. No other president, I think would do this,
- 1:31Speaker 2: because no other president would literally look at Hamas and say,
- 1:35Speaker 2: you don't come to the table, you're gonna be blown
- 1:37Speaker 2: to smithereens and we're going to help Israel do it.
- 1:40Speaker 2: That wouldn't happen. Joe Biden would never have had that happen.
- 1:44Speaker 2: Barack Obama, Bill Clinton, the George Bushes. Never this president did.
- 1:52Speaker 2: And Hamas had to come to the table. So what's
- 1:55Speaker 2: happening is the president then spoke I don't know. He
- 1:59Speaker 2: was on for half an hour maybe up at the
- 2:01Speaker 2: stand at the Dayas in front of the Kanesset, which
- 2:06Speaker 2: is their parliament, and he had the teleprompters there, and
- 2:11Speaker 2: boy did he go off script. I mean, he came
- 2:14Speaker 2: up with stories about Steve Witkoff, who is the senior negotiator,
- 2:20Speaker 2: and what Steve did and his background and just and
- 2:23Speaker 2: stories talked about Jared Kushner, his son in law, who
- 2:27Speaker 2: was instrumental all this, and how Ivonka converted to Judaism,
- 2:31Speaker 2: and just talked about the seven forty seven that he
- 2:35Speaker 2: bought for the United States from Cutter, and I mean
- 2:40Speaker 2: it just was all over the place, and he's the
- 2:43Speaker 2: one that was able to pull it off. Come on, well,
- 2:45Speaker 2: typical Donald Trump. I mean, you talk about off script, okay,
- 2:49Speaker 2: And that's the only thing at this point that I
- 2:51Speaker 2: can really, I think, talk about a negative way about
- 2:57Speaker 2: Donald Trump, because underneath it all, this guy made it happen. Now,
- 3:02Speaker 2: as I said earlier, I'm going to talk about that
- 3:04Speaker 2: in the next segment.
- 3:06Speaker 1: Is how did this happen?
- 3:10Speaker 2: Why did it take seven hundred and thirty six days?
- 3:13Speaker 2: What did Israel do? And this is not being talked
- 3:17Speaker 2: a whole lot about. Is that Hamas basically shot itself
- 3:23Speaker 2: in the foot, in both feet, and the way where
- 3:27Speaker 2: it guessed this guest where it would all go, and
- 3:30Speaker 2: how they completely blew it. And I'll try to set
- 3:33Speaker 2: up some timeline and dive into a little bit. In
- 3:36Speaker 2: the meantime, the president right now is on Air Force one,
- 3:41Speaker 2: having left Tel Aviv maybe half an hour ago. He
- 3:45Speaker 2: will be landing in Cairo. It's a one hour flight
- 3:48Speaker 2: from Tel Aviv to Cairo, and he will I can't
- 3:52Speaker 2: even imagine what the hoopla is going to be as
- 3:55Speaker 2: he lands at Cairo International Airport and will be feted
- 4:00Speaker 2: like you can't believe because he is obviously he is
- 4:03Speaker 2: the hero here. There are twenty world leaders that are
- 4:08Speaker 2: in Cairo, and is a peace summit that is being convened,
- 4:14Speaker 2: and talk about what's going to happen in Gaza. Now
- 4:17Speaker 2: that the war is over and the hostage is part
- 4:20Speaker 2: of it. That's been done. Now comes the hard part,
- 4:24Speaker 2: and what is the hard part? Who is going to
- 4:26Speaker 2: govern Gaza and the West Bank? Because Israel's putting all
- 4:31Speaker 2: that together under a new Palestinian authority, actually an international
- 4:36Speaker 2: authority that's going to govern Gaza such until such time
- 4:41Speaker 2: that that can govern itself, which as far as Israel
- 4:44Speaker 2: is concerned with this government, the Israeli government will mean
- 4:47Speaker 2: the Ever, then you have will Hamas disarm itself? Will
- 4:53Speaker 2: it cease to be will it cease to become a
- 4:56Speaker 2: political force? Will the party because it's a political party
- 4:59Speaker 2: as well the terrorist group as well as a governing group,
- 5:04Speaker 2: so it hits all of those points in Gaza.
- 5:08Speaker 1: Will it disarm? Will it dismember itself? Will it do
- 5:16Speaker 1: any of that?
- 5:17Speaker 2: Well, what's happening now, just getting reports that Hamas is
- 5:22Speaker 2: jumping right into those areas that Israel has relinquished Israel
- 5:27Speaker 2: has and this is part of the ceasefire, is that
- 5:30Speaker 2: Israel has released about I would say sixty percent of
- 5:37Speaker 2: Gaza to Hamas, which is still in charge. So if
- 5:42Speaker 2: you look at Israel, imagine the entire eastern part of Israel,
- 5:47Speaker 2: all of that eastern part of Gaza, all of that
- 5:51Speaker 2: is in Israeli hands. Gaza City is not Eunice, is
- 5:57Speaker 2: not the big city in the south that was at
- 6:01Speaker 2: the point of a lot of this fighting and a
- 6:03Speaker 2: lot of humanitarian aid not coming in. I mean, there's
- 6:06Speaker 2: a lot going on there, but Israel, pursu into the agreement,
- 6:10Speaker 2: still controls a lot of Gaza. Hamas now and these
- 6:16Speaker 2: are the reports are now is now going around and
- 6:19Speaker 2: executing people who they view were Israeli operatives or somehow
- 6:26Speaker 2: we're traders to the Palestinian cause in Gaza and Hamas
- 6:31Speaker 2: at this point looks like it's filling the void very
- 6:34Speaker 2: very quickly. And frankly, I don't think Israel cares. You know,
- 6:39Speaker 2: this is going to become an internal issue. All Israel
- 6:43Speaker 2: cares about is the threat that Hamas is to Israel.
- 6:48Speaker 2: All right, I want to take a break and come
- 6:50Speaker 2: back because I want to dive into a little bit
- 6:52Speaker 2: and there's some underlying reasons and where Hamas blew it completely.
- 7:00Speaker 2: And I'm not just talking about the terrorist attack because
- 7:02Speaker 2: that worked for them. It happened exactly the way it
- 7:05Speaker 2: wanted to happen. As a matter of fact, there are
- 7:07Speaker 2: some new documents that have just come up that show
- 7:11Speaker 2: how successful that terrorist attack is per the plans and
- 7:16Speaker 2: per the hopes of Camas. But also how mann did
- 7:21Speaker 2: they screw the pooch on a political, international, geopolitical military matter.
- 7:27Speaker 2: Now I want to talk a little bit about how
- 7:30Speaker 2: all this came to be. One of them is the President,
- 7:33Speaker 2: of course, effectively telling Camas this either happens, it happens now,
- 7:40Speaker 2: or I'm going to let Israel just go right at
- 7:43Speaker 2: it and I'm going to give Israel all the arms
- 7:45Speaker 2: it needs to effectively wipe you out. It came pretty
- 7:49Speaker 2: close to it anyway, and also telling Natanyahu, who was
- 7:54Speaker 2: insisting we are not going to sit down with them
- 7:57Speaker 2: until they have agreed that there will be no more Hamas,
- 8:01Speaker 2: that they willed disarm, that was written in stone, and
- 8:04Speaker 2: the President told Natanyahu that's not going to happen.
- 8:07Speaker 1: And if we can't.
- 8:09Speaker 2: Get these deel cut you're not going to see American
- 8:11Speaker 2: arms anymore. Okay, both sides now come to the table.
- 8:16Speaker 2: So let's talk about some of the facts we know,
- 8:20Speaker 2: because as I said.
- 8:21Speaker 1: This is not just Israel winning.
- 8:24Speaker 2: This was Hamas losing, shooting itself in the foot, in
- 8:28Speaker 2: the head, in the stomach. We have just heard, and
- 8:32Speaker 2: this just came out a few days ago, that there
- 8:34Speaker 2: were documents that were picked up by Israeli intelligence in
- 8:38Speaker 2: the military written by Yaya Sinwar, who had been released
- 8:43Speaker 2: from Israeli prison after twenty years during one of these
- 8:46Speaker 2: prisoner exchanges, and he had written given instructions to the
- 8:51Speaker 2: terrorists to go into Israel during that October seventh attack,
- 8:57Speaker 2: to kill as many children, to burn as many buildings
- 9:02Speaker 2: as possible, not only kill Israeli soldiers who were there,
- 9:07Speaker 2: but also as many civilians as possible. And he did
- 9:12Speaker 2: it not just because he hated and we're talking about
- 9:16Speaker 2: it's not just him who wrote this. These were instructions
- 9:18Speaker 2: being given by the hierarchy. And it's not just because
- 9:22Speaker 2: they hated Israelis and don't believe in Israel being any
- 9:26Speaker 2: kind of a sovereign country.
- 9:29Speaker 1: It shouldn't exist at all.
- 9:31Speaker 2: But they took the political tack, because here's what they assumed,
- 9:34Speaker 2: and this was part and parcel. They assumed that once
- 9:38Speaker 2: this attack happened, the entire Arab world would join Hamas
- 9:45Speaker 2: in trying to destroy Israel.
- 9:49Speaker 1: It's right there in the documents.
- 9:51Speaker 2: The Arab world will understand that this is a fight
- 9:54Speaker 2: for freedom and they will join us. And they knew
- 9:58Speaker 2: they had the backing of his Blah. They knew they
- 10:01Speaker 2: had the backing of Iran. They knew they had the
- 10:05Speaker 2: backing of the various Isis and al Kaieda offshoots in Iraq.
- 10:10Speaker 2: And they knew that Israel is this one loan country
- 10:17Speaker 2: and if the United States weren't there, it wouldn't even exist.
- 10:21Speaker 2: And they thought that the whole world, the Arab world,
- 10:24Speaker 2: was going to be on their side. They missed it completely,
- 10:27Speaker 2: of course they did. First of all, Hesbelah was wiped
- 10:32Speaker 2: out by the Israelis. They just attacked His attacked South
- 10:37Speaker 2: Lesbionon and Hesbelah is no longer a force. The attack
- 10:41Speaker 2: on Iran, you had Israel straight out attack Iran, sending missiles,
- 10:48Speaker 2: which had never happened before. And then the United States,
- 10:51Speaker 2: this is where Trump came in and bombed facilities, nuclear facilities,
- 10:57Speaker 2: and so Iran now doesn't have anywhere near the power
- 11:01Speaker 2: that it has. So you have the two major allies
- 11:05Speaker 2: of Hamas have just basically disappeared.
- 11:09Speaker 1: They have devolved.
- 11:11Speaker 2: So Hamas is now on its own for the most part,
- 11:15Speaker 2: and the whole world as much as they hate Israel
- 11:18Speaker 2: for what it has and is doing, or not anymore
- 11:22Speaker 2: to the Palestinians, and there's a lot of hatred, and
- 11:26Speaker 2: there should be a lot of hatred because while I
- 11:28Speaker 2: don't believe the word genocide is appropriate, I do believe
- 11:32Speaker 2: war crimes are appropriate and describing what Israel did. The
- 11:37Speaker 2: problem is Hamas missed the boat because as much as
- 11:41Speaker 2: the entire world, particularly the Arab world, looked at Israel
- 11:46Speaker 2: as the enemy or at least gave lip service to
- 11:48Speaker 2: the Palestinians, they hate Hamas as much as anybody does.
- 11:53Speaker 2: The Arab countries do not want a Hamas controlling Gaza
- 11:57Speaker 2: or any part of the Mid East.
- 11:59Speaker 1: There are a bunch of terear Risks.
- 12:01Speaker 2: They know it, and all of a sudden they as
- 12:04Speaker 2: Hamas turns to them and says, please, you want to
- 12:08Speaker 2: help us, you want to be on our side. Look
- 12:10Speaker 2: what we did this magnificent thing that we did in
- 12:12Speaker 2: attacking the Israelis on October seventh.
- 12:16Speaker 1: They Hamas just missed it completely and so the.
- 12:24Speaker 2: Guests, and it's the only way you can talk about this.
- 12:27Speaker 2: The guess was wrong. Hamas didn't have a chance, I
- 12:32Speaker 2: don't think after October seventh and what it did. And
- 12:35Speaker 2: then keeping the hostages, that's the other really dumb thing.
- 12:38Speaker 2: I can see the logic of taking the hostages. Obviously
- 12:43Speaker 2: I disagree, I mean we all disagree. And the humanitarian
- 12:47Speaker 2: issue involved in taking civilian hostages and killing civilians because
- 12:52Speaker 2: they are Jewish, because they were Israeli, I can understand.
- 12:57Speaker 2: They're crazy ass logic. What I don't understand is treating
- 13:01Speaker 2: the hostages the way they did, starving the hostages, keeping
- 13:07Speaker 2: them in cages, doing some horrific things. In one case,
- 13:13Speaker 2: this was discussed over the news over the weekend. In
- 13:16Speaker 2: one case, they took on a group of hostages were
- 13:21Speaker 2: released pursuing to a couple of the ceasefires, and they
- 13:24Speaker 2: took a group of them and turned over to the
- 13:30Speaker 2: Red Cross, keeping one to see his fellow Israelis being freed,
- 13:36Speaker 2: and then drove him back to the cage. In the tunnel,
- 13:40Speaker 2: just the sheer in humanity of it. So underneath it
- 13:44Speaker 2: all Hamas. They blew every single chance they had. They
- 13:52Speaker 2: were never gonna win, but they made sure they lost.
- 13:57Speaker 2: And as we speak right now, I'm looking at a
- 13:59Speaker 2: love I've picture Air Force one is it has parked,
- 14:04Speaker 2: the doors opened. There are probably I don't know the
- 14:08Speaker 2: boya a dozen black suburbans that are out there and
- 14:14Speaker 2: waiting for the President to come down the stairs of
- 14:18Speaker 2: Air Force one at Cairo where the summit will start,
- 14:23Speaker 2: the Gaza Summit will start.
- 14:25Speaker 1: And look at all those planes lined up.
- 14:27Speaker 2: Yeah, those are for all world leaders that have come in.
- 14:30Speaker 1: And nobody brings a little plane. No, they've all got
- 14:34Speaker 1: bigg Well did you notice did you notice the Sea five?
- 14:37Speaker 2: As matter of fact, they're driving right towards it right now,
- 14:40Speaker 2: the big Sea five or the Galaxy with the smaller
- 14:42Speaker 2: I think it's a seven to sixty seven. Also US
- 14:45Speaker 2: Air Force Air Force one when the play president flies
- 14:49Speaker 2: because the United States of America on it, the same
- 14:53Speaker 2: the same paint scheme that's on the other ones. And
- 14:56Speaker 2: this so whenever a president travels, as you can imagine,
- 14:59Speaker 2: it's especially in this case, a whole lot of people
- 15:02Speaker 2: travel with him, and there's enough for rom On air
- 15:04Speaker 2: Force one. So here comes the other airplayed in this case,
- 15:07Speaker 2: I think it was the seven to sixty seven filled
- 15:10Speaker 2: with I don't even say reporters. I think reporters are
- 15:14Speaker 2: on their own that one. Those would just be officials
- 15:18Speaker 2: and people accompanying the president. This is one big, big deal,
- 15:23Speaker 2: and the president will be the star of this, there's.
- 15:25Speaker 1: No question about it, and deserves to be.
- 15:28Speaker 2: They just have to keep them off this speech making
- 15:31Speaker 2: for forty minutes at a time. Oh, also there is
- 15:34Speaker 2: there were a couple of private seven forty sevens there
- 15:38Speaker 2: that you could see. They didn't have the markings of
- 15:40Speaker 2: an airline. There's some pretty rich people there in the
- 15:43Speaker 2: Arab world all right Now on the other side of
- 15:47Speaker 2: the coin is what's happening on this side of the
- 15:52Speaker 2: world is the government shut down. It's going on three
- 15:56Speaker 2: weeks now, started his third week, and it's no end
- 16:00Speaker 2: in sight. The government shutdown now collides with the US economy.
- 16:06Speaker 2: Miss paychecks Wednesday are the first miss paychecks, and billions
- 16:12Speaker 2: of dollars of government services are going to disappear, and
- 16:16Speaker 2: millions of workers are going to be affected, not just
- 16:21Speaker 2: in government, but those who supply government. Because even if
- 16:25Speaker 2: you have a company that sells to the government, for example,
- 16:30Speaker 2: let's say janitorial services or copiers or whatever. I mean,
- 16:33Speaker 2: the government obviously just make its own copiers. It buys
- 16:36Speaker 2: it from the local copier store. Well, all of those
- 16:39Speaker 2: payments stop. There ain't no money until the until Congress
- 16:46Speaker 2: votes itself the ability to keep running the government.
- 16:50Speaker 1: So where is where's this line? Why aren't they even agreeing?
- 16:56Speaker 2: Because now when we talk about the disparity between the
- 17:01Speaker 2: Republicans the Democrats, this is about as clear a ligne as.
- 17:06Speaker 1: You can come to.
- 17:08Speaker 2: And it's real simple with the Republicans want in the
- 17:11Speaker 2: middle of all this, just give us a continuing resolution
- 17:15Speaker 2: while we're figuring this out, while we're figuring out the budget,
- 17:19Speaker 2: while we're figuring out the cuts if you want to
- 17:23Speaker 2: call them cuts, and I'll explain that in a minute,
- 17:25Speaker 2: to Medicaid and Obamacare subsidies. Let's just keep the government
- 17:31Speaker 2: running with a continuing resolution, which just kicks the can
- 17:35Speaker 2: down the road. And continuing resolutions happen more often than not.
- 17:40Speaker 2: There is no deal that has come to the table
- 17:45Speaker 2: where Democrats and Republicans can't agree, and so they pass
- 17:49Speaker 2: a continuing resolution saying, Okay, we keep everything copasetic, we
- 17:52Speaker 2: don't add any programs.
- 17:54Speaker 1: It's called a clean bill.
- 17:56Speaker 2: A continuing resolution is completely clean bill means it does
- 18:00Speaker 2: there's nothing but just continue the government the way it's
- 18:03Speaker 2: been going while we talk.
- 18:06Speaker 1: Makes sense, that's completely logical.
- 18:09Speaker 2: So why are the Democrats not going with this because
- 18:12Speaker 2: they always have. Now let's move to the United States,
- 18:17Speaker 2: and the pain of this governmental shutdown is hitting on Wednesday,
- 18:24Speaker 2: day after tomorrow, the first checks don't arrive to government workers,
- 18:30Speaker 2: and so this shutdown is colliding with the US economy.
- 18:35Speaker 2: The miss paychecks, billions of dollars of government services which
- 18:39Speaker 2: will not be given or will not be paid for,
- 18:42Speaker 2: are hitting. And the president and the lawmakers in Congress
- 18:47Speaker 2: are completely deadlocked. The Republicans and the Democrats are deadlocked.
- 18:53Speaker 2: Why well, because the argument is that the Democrats are
- 18:58Speaker 2: a little bit upset about is the president's priorities? And
- 19:01Speaker 2: if the president, well, whatever the president's priorities are, the
- 19:04Speaker 2: Republican parties and the Republican legislature, the Senate and the House,
- 19:08Speaker 2: they are whatever the President says, they follow along. I mean,
- 19:13Speaker 2: you talk about lap dogs. So the Democrats obviously fight that.
- 19:18Speaker 2: And this has to do and here's where they're both
- 19:20Speaker 2: right and wrong. This has to do with the cuts,
- 19:23Speaker 2: Medicaid expansion, and the Obama Care subsidies for people who
- 19:30Speaker 2: heretofore couldn't afford insurance. Several million people were put on
- 19:34Speaker 2: the roster of Obamacare that weren't prior to COVID. So
- 19:38Speaker 2: COVID comes in and the government says, okay, we are
- 19:41Speaker 2: going to expand Medicaid and we're going to expand the
- 19:47Speaker 2: subsidies for Obamacare so more people can be covered. This
- 19:52Speaker 2: was temporary. This sunsets this year. And here is the problem.
- 20:01Speaker 2: There really is no such thing as sun setting when
- 20:04Speaker 2: you talk about a governmental program.
- 20:05Speaker 1: And here's the analogy.
- 20:07Speaker 2: All right, COVID hits or some massive problem occurs at work,
- 20:12Speaker 2: and you are given a temporary raise for six months
- 20:16Speaker 2: or two years, and you're told this is only good
- 20:20Speaker 2: for two years. So two years pass, and then your
- 20:25Speaker 2: boss says, okay, we're gonna go back to the previous
- 20:27Speaker 2: pay level. You go, wait a minute, I get this,
- 20:32Speaker 2: and you can't ask me.
- 20:33Speaker 1: To go back.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Well, it's exactly what I'm asking you to do is
- 20:36Speaker 2: to go back. So you have the Democrats effectively saying
- 20:40Speaker 2: these are cuts that the Republicans are cutting these programs.
- 20:46Speaker 1: They're not.
- 20:47Speaker 2: What they're doing is not extending the cuts that took place.
- 20:52Speaker 1: They're allowing the sun.
- 20:53Speaker 2: Setting cuts, the sun setting, sun setting, the sun I mean,
- 21:00Speaker 2: get this right, I'm so good with words. The sun
- 21:03Speaker 2: setting subsidies. He's Peter Piper picked a peck. The sun
- 21:07Speaker 2: setting tanks you very much, subsidies to sunset. And the
- 21:13Speaker 2: Democrats are saying absolutely not so, because they're saying people
- 21:18Speaker 2: are going to be uninsured. Millions of Americans are going
- 21:22Speaker 2: to be uninsured. They're not going to have the government
- 21:25Speaker 2: support for medical care that they have now.
- 21:29Speaker 1: And the Republicans are saying, hey, it.
- 21:31Speaker 2: Was temporary, and it's a question of philosophy, and it's
- 21:34Speaker 2: a question of what priorities are the existing government. The
- 21:38Speaker 2: priority is immigration defense. The Democrats are we've got to
- 21:45Speaker 2: get people insured, we have to have governmental programs that
- 21:49Speaker 2: help people. The Republicans think helping people in the United
- 21:55Speaker 2: States is a matter of defense, ensuring our borders and
- 21:58Speaker 2: social programs are not as important.
- 22:01Speaker 1: It's philosophy.
- 22:03Speaker 2: Okay, So that being said, they are at a standstill
- 22:07Speaker 2: because the Democrats are saying, noe, we're drawing. The red
- 22:10Speaker 2: line is right here, right now, and we are not
- 22:14Speaker 2: going to vote for that continuing resolution to keep the
- 22:16Speaker 2: government alive for even a month while negotiations take place,
- 22:21Speaker 2: because the Democrats rightly so, are saying the Republicans will
- 22:25Speaker 2: never cave to this sort of stuff.
- 22:27Speaker 1: And they won't.
- 22:28Speaker 2: I mean, look what the Trump administration did with DOGE,
- 22:32Speaker 2: and look what they're doing with programs all over the country.
- 22:34Speaker 2: Look what RFK is doing with the CDC. Look what
- 22:38Speaker 2: is happening Department of Transportation. They are cutting, cutting, cuting, cutting,
- 22:41Speaker 2: cutting much less keeping programs alive that have been sunseted.
- 22:45Speaker 2: And they said, we're done, We're done. And so there
- 22:50Speaker 2: is the fight. Is there going to be some end
- 22:54Speaker 2: to this?
- 22:55Speaker 1: Yes? A couple of other things.
- 22:58Speaker 2: Is the well the President ordered the Pentagon to repurpose
- 23:03Speaker 2: research and development money to be able to make payroll
- 23:07Speaker 2: for members of the military. The military doesn't get paid.
- 23:10Speaker 2: They still have to be there, they don't get paid.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Millions of workers still have to go to work and
- 23:15Speaker 2: not get paid. Air traffic controllers can you imagine this,
- 23:20Speaker 2: have to work and not get a paycheck, and so
- 23:25Speaker 2: what do you do. Well, a lot of them call
- 23:27Speaker 2: in sick, they just had it. And then the argument is, okay,
- 23:30Speaker 2: so we'll get back pay. We always have that's been
- 23:35Speaker 2: that's just been the pattern of what we do when
- 23:39Speaker 2: their government shut downs. Well, the president is saying not
- 23:43Speaker 2: this time. You're not going to get back pay to
- 23:47Speaker 2: large segments of the workforce. Military will of course, how
- 23:51Speaker 2: does he say no to the military. And on top
- 23:54Speaker 2: of that, he has four thousand already workers who are
- 23:59Speaker 2: not working, have been furloughed, fired, and you're not going
- 24:02Speaker 2: to see back pay.
- 24:03Speaker 1: Now. That gets interesting with the back pay.
- 24:05Speaker 2: Business because even though it was policy to give back
- 24:13Speaker 2: pay to workers during a shutdown, after the last massive shutdown,
- 24:19Speaker 2: the Congress passed a law saying it is illegal not
- 24:24Speaker 2: to pay furloughed employees or those who are not are
- 24:30Speaker 2: off the books but still have to work. And the
- 24:33Speaker 2: president and the White House is saying, we ain't going.
- 24:36Speaker 1: To pay now. The law says that the government must
- 24:41Speaker 1: pay back pay.
- 24:43Speaker 2: And you know when that was signed, it was during
- 24:47Speaker 2: Donald Trump's first term.
- 24:49Speaker 1: He signed it, he said, he signed the bill that
- 24:52Speaker 1: said there must be back pay.
- 24:56Speaker 2: And now he's saying there Isn't you go, wait a minute,
- 24:58Speaker 2: it's the law that you oh signed, there's your signature
- 25:02Speaker 2: right on that law.
- 25:05Speaker 1: Nope.
- 25:06Speaker 2: Ah. The joys of this administration is when the laws
- 25:11Speaker 2: on your side, the laws on your side, When the
- 25:13Speaker 2: laws not on your side, the laws on your side.
- 25:18Speaker 1: All right, We're done with that.
