- 0:04Speaker 1: NFL Power Rankings is a production of the NFL in
- 0:07Speaker 1: partnership with iHeartRadio.
- 0:09Speaker 2: We are almost half way through, man, that is hard
- 0:14Speaker 2: to believe. We're heading into week eight. Welcome to the
- 0:16Speaker 2: NFL Power Ranking Show, Everybody, presented to you by Energizer
- 0:21Speaker 2: from our studios in Los Angeles. My name is Andrews. Siciliano.
- 0:26Speaker 2: The man on the other side of the screen, the
- 0:28Speaker 2: man who is up late Monday night listening to Creed
- 0:32Speaker 2: on his iTunes and trying to figure out what to
- 0:36Speaker 2: do with the new rankings when four of his top
- 0:38Speaker 2: seven lose is Eric at Holme. How are you, buddy, Yeah,
- 0:44Speaker 2: I'm doing all right.
- 0:45Speaker 3: I've recovered.
- 0:45Speaker 4: I think the Power ranking gods had a good laugh
- 0:48Speaker 4: at our expense last Monday night, I should say.
- 0:51Speaker 3: So, we've recovered, We've put an order together. We're pretty
- 0:54Speaker 3: proud of her.
- 0:54Speaker 2: They laugh in your general direction, and they look at
- 0:58Speaker 2: the rankings right now on the screen. You can do
- 0:59Speaker 2: it as well. Scan the QR code, go to NFL
- 1:02Speaker 2: dot com slash Power Ranks, and when you do, you
- 1:06Speaker 2: see Patrick Mahomes and the Kansas City chiefs. Hoh hum,
- 1:09Speaker 2: just like your thought. As we get near the middle,
- 1:12Speaker 2: of the season sitting there at number one. Then the
- 1:14Speaker 2: Eagles are up three last year's or last week's number one.
- 1:18Speaker 2: The Niners are down to a number three, the Ravens,
- 1:21Speaker 2: the Dolphins, the Jaguars, the Lions, and your Dallas Cowboys. Everybody.
- 1:27Speaker 2: Let's open up with the forty nine ers because they
- 1:30Speaker 2: were number one. And again, as mentioned, you were on deadline.
- 1:32Speaker 2: You got to sit up late Monday night night as
- 1:34Speaker 2: if you weren't going to be watching anyway to see
- 1:36Speaker 2: the fight. And brock Perties lose back to back games,
- 1:40Speaker 2: Eric for the first time in a year. It hadn't happened, Yeah,
- 1:45Speaker 2: since Week six and seven of a year ago. Listen,
- 1:49Speaker 2: they lost to a great defense last week on the
- 1:51Speaker 2: road in Cleveland. Jake Moody missed a field goal, but
- 1:53Speaker 2: everyone thought they were going to pick it up, right,
- 1:56Speaker 2: they go on the road in Minnesota. Kirk Cousins isn't
- 1:58Speaker 2: winning this game?
- 2:00Speaker 4: And then what happened, right, Yeah, it was a surprising result,
- 2:04Speaker 4: just as I think what happened in Cleveland coming off
- 2:06Speaker 4: the high the five game win streak they opened the
- 2:09Speaker 4: season with. But I'm glad you mentioned Week six and
- 2:11Speaker 4: Week seven last year. Remember they were a three and
- 2:14Speaker 4: four team a year ago, and what happened immediately after that?
- 2:17Speaker 4: They ripped off ten straight regular season wins, you know,
- 2:20Speaker 4: had some success in the playoffs and told the NFC
- 2:22Speaker 4: Championship game, to me, this is still a better team
- 2:25Speaker 4: than what they had last year. All the questions at quarterback,
- 2:28Speaker 4: we hadn't even figured.
- 2:29Speaker 3: Out rock Party was the starter.
- 2:31Speaker 4: But look, you know, Perty was not the guy on
- 2:33Speaker 4: Monday night, especially in the fourth quarter. I mean, two
- 2:35Speaker 4: interceptions five to ten. Passing didn't really get much done,
- 2:39Speaker 4: a couple of high throws lead to picks, and you know,
- 2:43Speaker 4: credit to the Vikings for shortening the game and making
- 2:45Speaker 4: it an a possession game and really minimizing the chances
- 2:50Speaker 4: for the forty nine ers to capitalize on every single
- 2:52Speaker 4: one of them. So, you know, the game plan was great. However,
- 2:55Speaker 4: I expected the forty nine ers to come in and
- 2:57Speaker 4: flex their muscles.
- 2:58Speaker 3: They'd gotten a whole early. They couldn't dig their way
- 3:00Speaker 3: out of it.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah, and brock Party had two possessions at the end
- 3:04Speaker 2: of the game, with a chance to do something and
- 3:06Speaker 2: rally him back, Eddie threw two picks, both of them
- 3:09Speaker 2: to Cameron, buying him. I also think it's a bit
- 3:11Speaker 2: concerning that neither Nick Bosa nor anybody Randy Gregory, anybody
- 3:17Speaker 2: on that defensive line got to Kirk Cousins. Yeah, he
- 3:20Speaker 2: escaped once or twice. They didn't sack him. And now
- 3:24Speaker 2: the forty nine ers go back home and they face
- 3:27Speaker 2: before thereby a very well rested Bengals team that is
- 3:31Speaker 2: coming off a bye. Not saying it's they must win,
- 3:35Speaker 2: but you don't want to go into that buy on
- 3:37Speaker 2: a three game losing streak to you, No, you don't.
- 3:39Speaker 2: They are number three, the team ahead of them. We're
- 3:42Speaker 2: kind of working out order here today, Eric, the Philadelphia Eagles,
- 3:47Speaker 2: they are the number two team in football. They move
- 3:51Speaker 2: up three after a big resounding win, pulled away late
- 3:55Speaker 2: over the Dolphins. Were you tempted to put them at one?
- 3:59Speaker 3: I was?
- 4:00Speaker 4: I thought about it, right, I mean, Kansas City consistently,
- 4:02Speaker 4: even if it hasn't always been impressive since you know,
- 4:05Speaker 4: since the Week one loss, has taken care of business.
- 4:08Speaker 4: You know, I've argue they haven't even played their best
- 4:10Speaker 4: game yet. So I kept them ahead of the Eagles
- 4:13Speaker 4: for this point. But hard not to argue what happened Sunday.
- 4:16Speaker 4: It was kind of a three phase victory. M Miami
- 4:19Speaker 4: had a few moments they had the pick six. There
- 4:21Speaker 4: were a few shaky elements of the game for Philadelphia,
- 4:24Speaker 4: but in the end overwhelmed them. You know, they hung
- 4:27Speaker 4: tough with the secondary that was sort of a patchwork group.
- 4:31Speaker 4: And oh, by the way, you just throw up the
- 4:32Speaker 4: bat signal and trader Howie Roasman comes in with Kevin
- 4:36Speaker 4: Bayard after the game.
- 4:37Speaker 3: I mean, what a move.
- 4:38Speaker 4: But from what we saw Sunday, putting pressure onto a
- 4:41Speaker 4: tongue of Ailoa, really forcing it.
- 4:43Speaker 3: Out of his hands.
- 4:44Speaker 4: You know, a little bit of luck along the way
- 4:46Speaker 4: drop touchdown, some penalties for Miami, but still I thought
- 4:49Speaker 4: it was an impressive performance all the way around. And
- 4:51Speaker 4: I think the AJ Brown guy is pretty good after
- 4:54Speaker 4: a slow start.
- 4:55Speaker 2: Yeah, they've made good trades. Howie Roseman has two really
- 4:58Speaker 2: good trades, not that the others haven't been good. With
- 5:00Speaker 2: the Titans, he get AJ Brown and then you get
- 5:02Speaker 2: Kevin Byard, who was in all pro se guy as
- 5:05Speaker 2: well that you know has a career in broadcasting, as
- 5:08Speaker 2: he was in here doing broadcast boot camp at NFL
- 5:10Speaker 2: Network back during the offseason. All you give up is
- 5:13Speaker 2: a five at a six in Terrell Edmonds here, So
- 5:15Speaker 2: you trade a safety for a safety, and the picks
- 5:17Speaker 2: they gave up weren't even their picks. They were picks
- 5:20Speaker 2: that they had gotten in other trades. So yeah, there's that.
- 5:23Speaker 2: And now the Eagles, as the number two team, get
- 5:26Speaker 2: the Commanders this week, and we are still trying to
- 5:28Speaker 2: figure out the Commanders, the team the Eagles beat. We
- 5:31Speaker 2: are also still trying to figure out Eric. They are
- 5:34Speaker 2: the Dolphins. They are down a couple spots to number five.
- 5:38Speaker 2: And I'll repeat here what I said last week. And
- 5:41Speaker 2: I'm sorry Dolphins fans, you have every right to be
- 5:43Speaker 2: angry at me, but just look at the numbers. Eric,
- 5:46Speaker 2: they haven't beaten anybody. They've played two really good teams,
- 5:50Speaker 2: the Bills. I mean, the Bills have three losses now
- 5:53Speaker 2: and now the Eagles, and they have been beaten soundly
- 5:56Speaker 2: in both.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, there's there's a stark difference between the
- 6:01Speaker 4: level of competition and now the Dolphins have played. There's
- 6:04Speaker 4: also a difference I think between you know, Devin hn
- 6:07Speaker 4: being on the field and him not being there.
- 6:09Speaker 3: They didn't have him Sunday. They got away from the
- 6:11Speaker 3: run game early.
- 6:12Speaker 4: But the results weren't there when they did, so you
- 6:14Speaker 4: can understand why Mike mcdanielle felt like, hey, we've got
- 6:18Speaker 4: to get the quick passing game going. We don't have
- 6:20Speaker 4: our weaponry in the backfield, and it just kind of
- 6:22Speaker 4: slid everything down and made it a little less dangerous.
- 6:25Speaker 4: And so, you know, the offensive line taking a big
- 6:28Speaker 4: step back, probably their worst game of the year.
- 6:30Speaker 3: They're still shorthanded there.
- 6:32Speaker 4: You know, we should see Connor Williams return, We'll see
- 6:35Speaker 4: about Armstead, so that there's some hope for you know,
- 6:39Speaker 4: improvement from within.
- 6:40Speaker 3: But that's got to be the case in the secondary too.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I thought the Eagles really kind of picked on those
- 6:44Speaker 4: corners a little bit.
- 6:46Speaker 3: You know, you get Zaviian Howard back, you get Jalen
- 6:48Speaker 3: Ramsey back. I'm less worried. But back to your original point, Andrew,
- 6:51Speaker 3: I mean.
- 6:52Speaker 4: Until they beat a quality team and do so, you know,
- 6:56Speaker 4: on the road, relatively convincingly something like that, I think
- 7:00Speaker 4: we're gonna have some questions about this group and just
- 7:02Speaker 4: how viable they will become, you know, December January, in
- 7:05Speaker 4: the home stretch of the season.
- 7:06Speaker 2: It's really interesting because this week the Dolphins get a
- 7:10Speaker 2: rematch with Bill Belichick and the Patriots. It's a rematch
- 7:14Speaker 2: from Week two, and back in Week two, it seems
- 7:16Speaker 2: like ten years ago the Patriots actually played them really well. Now,
- 7:19Speaker 2: Christian Gonzales was up and active and played a big
- 7:22Speaker 2: role in that game.
- 7:23Speaker 4: But hey, maybe.
- 7:25Speaker 2: The Patriots found a way to slow them down after
- 7:27Speaker 2: a huge performance against the Chargers week one. This is
- 7:30Speaker 2: the rematch. Obviously, the Patriots aren't that good, but they
- 7:32Speaker 2: won last week. Regardless. Keep an eye on the Dolphins
- 7:34Speaker 2: of the Patriots this week. Our team of the Week now,
- 7:38Speaker 2: which is presented by Trust the Baltimore Ravens. Eric the
- 7:43Speaker 2: Baltimore Ravens who check in today as the number four
- 7:46Speaker 2: team in your Power rankings. They had what we thought
- 7:50Speaker 2: was going to be the game of the week against
- 7:52Speaker 2: the Lions. They ended that game by the end of
- 7:55Speaker 2: the first quarter.
- 7:59Speaker 3: It was a shocking result for a lot of us.
- 8:01Speaker 4: I think everybody felt like this Detroit team was gonna
- 8:04Speaker 4: come in give the real test. And look, this is
- 8:06Speaker 4: a Baltimore team that's lost at home to the Colts
- 8:08Speaker 4: for the backup quarterback, so you could understand why people
- 8:11Speaker 4: thought this is gonna be.
- 8:12Speaker 3: A great matchup.
- 8:13Speaker 4: Instead, they set a big statement, best offensive performance of
- 8:16Speaker 4: the year. We've seen the fruits of Todd Monkins labor
- 8:19Speaker 4: finally start to come out.
- 8:21Speaker 3: Maybe some holes in the Lions, but that's a separate issue.
- 8:24Speaker 4: I just thought what the Ravens did was unlike anything
- 8:27Speaker 4: they'd really done, probably since Week one when they kind
- 8:29Speaker 4: of put the foot on the neck of the Texans.
- 8:31Speaker 4: But even that, this performance where they said, oh, you
- 8:34Speaker 4: think you're a playoff contender right here, Well let me
- 8:37Speaker 4: show you what it looks like. And look, I'll ask
- 8:40Speaker 4: it to you. Do they not look like a super
- 8:42Speaker 4: Bowl team if they're operating with that kind of offensive efficiency.
- 8:46Speaker 3: I mean, that's kind of where we're at.
- 8:47Speaker 2: After that thought, Well, Lamar wasn't running to run, he
- 8:51Speaker 2: was staying in the pocket. His accuracy this year is
- 8:55Speaker 2: as good as it's ever been. They used to play
- 8:57Speaker 2: fake and took advantage of those aggressive linebackers masterfully. From
- 9:02Speaker 2: the first quarter on. They would have Eric gott into fifty.
- 9:06Speaker 2: This could have been a fifty burger. They took their
- 9:07Speaker 2: foot off the gas at the end. And when you
- 9:10Speaker 2: face Lamar Jackson for the first time, you're not in
- 9:12Speaker 2: Division foe, you don't have a plan. Look, they had
- 9:15Speaker 2: a plan, the plan didn't work, and the Ravens are
- 9:18Speaker 2: that good now. Maybe a letdown game this week. They're
- 9:20Speaker 2: on the road in Arizona as we air this on
- 9:23Speaker 2: Tuesday evening on the NFL channel here, it's still we
- 9:27Speaker 2: think is going to be Josh Dobbs. Maybe that changes,
- 9:29Speaker 2: but regardless, Yeah, the Ravens are in first, and I
- 9:32Speaker 2: don't know that anybody wants to play them right now.
- 9:36Speaker 2: The flip side of it, though, the Lions, I know
- 9:39Speaker 2: they have a lot of defensive injuries here. They had
- 9:42Speaker 2: fought through all of those injuries, injuries in the offensive
- 9:45Speaker 2: backfield as well. I don't want to blame the injuries here,
- 9:51Speaker 2: but I still wouldn't want to play him. Eric, you
- 9:54Speaker 2: still do have them in the top ten.
- 9:56Speaker 4: Yeah, I really struggle with where to place them. Right
- 9:59Speaker 4: They'd accrued so much goodwill up to this point. You know,
- 10:02Speaker 4: they weren't just the darlings. They backed it up with play.
- 10:05Speaker 4: Even the loss to Seattle, you felt like wasn't so
- 10:08Speaker 4: demoralizing because Okay, the offense played well, they had a
- 10:11Speaker 4: chance at the end, they were in it. Yeah, it
- 10:13Speaker 4: was coming off the week one win, but that one,
- 10:16Speaker 4: you know, pales in comparison to what we saw Sunday.
- 10:19Speaker 4: This time the team that loves punching people in the
- 10:21Speaker 4: mouth got punched a couple times and couldn't respond, And
- 10:25Speaker 4: you know, there the most demoralizing play, kind of what
- 10:28Speaker 4: you described with Lamar earlier, was you know, seeing Aiden Hutchinson,
- 10:32Speaker 4: of these rushers who we used to seeing getting to
- 10:34Speaker 4: the quarterback, flail around for eight nine seconds, Waldo mart
- 10:38Speaker 4: decides where he's gonna throw it back in the end
- 10:40Speaker 4: zone touchdown. To me, that was the play where you
- 10:43Speaker 4: felt like they're just not going to have an answer
- 10:45Speaker 4: for him today. And they haven't really done well against
- 10:48Speaker 4: mobile quarterbacks in recent years. Is that just a flaw?
- 10:51Speaker 4: The injuries factor in there. They lose Jerry Jacobs right
- 10:55Speaker 4: before the game. You know, there were some bad roles there.
- 10:58Speaker 4: But at the same time, how they respond is going
- 11:01Speaker 4: to say a lot about the fighting Dan Cambell's.
- 11:03Speaker 2: At this point a fighting Campbell's listen. I still would
- 11:06Speaker 2: not want to have to go to Detroit and face
- 11:09Speaker 2: them at the postseason. I don't. I still think they
- 11:12Speaker 2: are the third best team in the NFC. I do,
- 11:17Speaker 2: and I'm gonna say they're better than the Cowboys. You
- 11:19Speaker 2: have them ranked better than the Cowboys. You have Dallas
- 11:22Speaker 2: at number eight. But again it's you're going to be
- 11:27Speaker 2: put on a pedestal a lot. How do they answer?
- 11:29Speaker 2: They come back now with a Monday night game this
- 11:32Speaker 2: week to close out Week eight against the Raiders. They
- 11:36Speaker 2: are clearly the better team, but this is their first
- 11:39Speaker 2: Monday night home game since twenty eighteen, since after they
- 11:43Speaker 2: made the playoffs and went to lose in Seattle in
- 11:46Speaker 2: twenty seventeen. All right, the Lions seven and the Cowboys eight.
- 11:50Speaker 2: We're just getting rolling here. Oh, the NFL Power Ranking Show,
- 11:53Speaker 2: presented to you by Energizer coming up. Do we have
- 11:57Speaker 2: a three loss team in the top ten? We do.
- 12:03Speaker 2: We'll tell you which one straight. But wait, there's more
- 12:07Speaker 2: on the NFL Power Ranking Show presented by Energizer. The
- 12:10Speaker 2: Buffalo Bills are down two, but they are still in
- 12:14Speaker 2: the top ten with three losses. At number nine, the
- 12:18Speaker 2: Cleveland Browns don't move despite winning somehow in Indianapolis. The
- 12:23Speaker 2: Seahawks don't move despite winning as well at home. Bengals, Steelers, Jets, Texans,
- 12:29Speaker 2: and Falcons rounding out the top sixteen, all of them
- 12:34Speaker 2: moving up. Eric Aholme, of course, is putting these numbers together,
- 12:38Speaker 2: and he has the Bills as a top ten team
- 12:42Speaker 2: despite not one, not to Eric, but three losses, and
- 12:48Speaker 2: despite losing to Mac Jones and the Patriots. I'm not
- 12:52Speaker 2: trying to slam Mac Jones nor Bill Belichick, but we
- 12:56Speaker 2: had seen how they had looked in previous weeks. This
- 12:59Speaker 2: was not supposed to be a game, Eric.
- 13:02Speaker 3: Yeah, it wasn't really.
- 13:03Speaker 4: And you know, straight gam Andrew where the offense has
- 13:08Speaker 4: started very slowly. This is not a new, you know,
- 13:10Speaker 4: new theme. We've been talking about it for a while
- 13:13Speaker 4: and it's essentially turned it over to the defense as
- 13:15Speaker 4: special team that said, all right, you guys, take care
- 13:18Speaker 4: of business.
- 13:18Speaker 3: You know, we got your back.
- 13:20Speaker 4: We'll get there eventually, but hold the fort until we're
- 13:22Speaker 4: ready to get going. And look the defense without Matt Milana,
- 13:26Speaker 4: without Trey White, without at Oliver de Kwan Jones, you
- 13:30Speaker 4: go on and on.
- 13:31Speaker 3: I mean, look, they're they're gutted on that side of
- 13:33Speaker 3: the ball.
- 13:33Speaker 4: They're gonna have an off day every now and then,
- 13:35Speaker 4: even against the likes of a struggling Patriots offense. So
- 13:38Speaker 4: you know, look, this is this is the kind of
- 13:40Speaker 4: thing where I really debated do they belong in.
- 13:42Speaker 3: The top ten? Should I drop them? Wait?
- 13:44Speaker 4: You know, beyond that, I felt like, we give them
- 13:47Speaker 4: another chance, right. We feel like there's enough file power
- 13:50Speaker 4: here to make this thing work eventually.
- 13:52Speaker 3: But it's hard not to sort of poke holes in
- 13:54Speaker 3: their resume right now.
- 13:55Speaker 2: They're complex team, they are, and I think people just
- 14:01Speaker 2: assume that when you lose Matt Mlano and Tredevius White,
- 14:03Speaker 2: you plug other guys into the uniforms and then nothing,
- 14:06Speaker 2: nothing changes. That is not the case. This team has
- 14:09Speaker 2: taken some major hits. Dawson Knox now needs risk surgery
- 14:12Speaker 2: as well, in no word to how long he is
- 14:14Speaker 2: gonna be out. They draft a Dulton Kincaid, so yay,
- 14:17Speaker 2: I mean they should be fine there, but he is
- 14:19Speaker 2: still a rookie. They get a short week, they get
- 14:21Speaker 2: the Bucks coming to town. You hope to get to
- 14:25Speaker 2: five and three, and then you get a little bit
- 14:26Speaker 2: of the mini buy here. They're still in the top ten.
- 14:28Speaker 2: There are still very much a playoff team. They are
- 14:30Speaker 2: at number nine. The Browns also look like a playoff
- 14:33Speaker 2: team here. They are at number ten. They have a
- 14:37Speaker 2: massive question mark Eric at quarterback, but they don't have
- 14:42Speaker 2: a question at defensive end. I was in the building
- 14:46Speaker 2: for what was one of the greatest defensive performances I
- 14:49Speaker 2: have ever seen turned in by Miles Garrett or anyone.
- 14:54Speaker 3: He took over the game.
- 14:56Speaker 4: And when you have a quarterback situation where you go
- 14:59Speaker 4: into every single game now not knowing what to expect
- 15:01Speaker 4: out of that position, you're.
- 15:03Speaker 3: Gonna need a Miles ga takeover game every now and then. Now,
- 15:06Speaker 3: they may not get that.
- 15:07Speaker 4: Every single week, right, but this was a tremendous performance, absolutely,
- 15:11Speaker 4: time after time. You know, the strip sack and the
- 15:14Speaker 4: end zone, the blockfield goal, you name it. I mean,
- 15:16Speaker 4: he was a one man wrecking for us. But you know,
- 15:19Speaker 4: some other elements of the defense gave up some plays.
- 15:22Speaker 4: Certainly the offense was a scattershot at times. But boy,
- 15:26Speaker 4: I just my question is can they sustain this? That's
- 15:29Speaker 4: the biggest thing without with all the unknowns of Deshaun Watson,
- 15:32Speaker 4: the injuries at the running back spot. Now dre Ford
- 15:35Speaker 4: is hurt, you know, Marik Cooper great one week, a
- 15:38Speaker 4: ghost in the first half on Sunday.
- 15:41Speaker 3: It's just a It's a lot of factors. And you've
- 15:44Speaker 3: seen this team up close two weeks in a row Andrew.
- 15:47Speaker 3: I mean, I think they look like a playoff team too,
- 15:49Speaker 3: But I'm starting to I.
- 15:51Speaker 4: Got a lot of balls I'm juggling in the air,
- 15:52Speaker 4: and whether I can keep them all going, I don't know.
- 15:54Speaker 2: Yeah, the biggest issue is the quarterback, and Shawn Watson
- 15:57Speaker 2: was supposed to be okay. He looked okay in practice
- 15:59Speaker 2: on Friday, came out Sunday and clearly was not okay.
- 16:03Speaker 2: And even though Kevin Stefanski's says we were benching him
- 16:06Speaker 2: to protect him after he took the big hit, he
- 16:09Speaker 2: had clear concussion protocol. You know what, just stay over there.
- 16:13Speaker 2: We'll let the defense win this game. On the five
- 16:17Speaker 2: passes that he threw, he didn't look right. No, he
- 16:21Speaker 2: didn't look like he had the zip on that ball.
- 16:23Speaker 2: Julian Blackman comes all the way from the other hash
- 16:25Speaker 2: to pick him off on that first interception, and you're like,
- 16:28Speaker 2: if he has more of an arm, does Blackman even
- 16:31Speaker 2: have a chance to get there. He threw a second
- 16:33Speaker 2: pick which the ball hit the ground, So look, he
- 16:37Speaker 2: didn't look right and they have to figure it out. PJ. Walker,
- 16:40Speaker 2: as good as this defense is, likely doesn't take you
- 16:43Speaker 2: to the playoffs. Will Deshaun Watson be back. Do you
- 16:46Speaker 2: put him on ir? I mean, these are questions that
- 16:48Speaker 2: they now have to answer and have to navigate. I
- 16:50Speaker 2: think they can survive without Jerome Ford for a couple
- 16:53Speaker 2: of weeks. I'm a big Pierre Strong fan, believe it
- 16:56Speaker 2: or not. And Kareem Hunt looks okay, score two touchdowns.
- 16:59Speaker 2: But Kevin Stefanski give him Coach of the Year right
- 17:02Speaker 2: now because he is navigating through all of this and
- 17:05Speaker 2: they are four and two. Let's do some power moves
- 17:09Speaker 2: for another AFC and North team. These power moves are
- 17:12Speaker 2: presented by Energizer. I admittedly didn't think the Steelers were
- 17:18Speaker 2: gonna come in here to La and beat the Rams,
- 17:22Speaker 2: but they did what they always do here. Eric Kenny
- 17:26Speaker 2: Pickett starts slowly and then in the fourth quarter he
- 17:29Speaker 2: just figures it out.
- 17:32Speaker 4: It's every week, right, one hundred and ninety two or
- 17:34Speaker 4: their three hundred yards game in the fourth quarter.
- 17:36Speaker 3: It's like I tell my kids, Andrew, it doesn't have
- 17:39Speaker 3: to be this hard, Okay, there's a better way to
- 17:41Speaker 3: do it.
- 17:41Speaker 4: Right.
- 17:42Speaker 3: However, with Mike Tomlin involved.
- 17:44Speaker 4: You know his team's gonna play for four quarters, maybe
- 17:46Speaker 4: that wasn't the case in Houston, but still every other
- 17:49Speaker 4: game this season they have competed. And look those two
- 17:51Speaker 4: games Houston and San Francisco. We looked at him and said,
- 17:54Speaker 4: are they any good?
- 17:55Speaker 2: They are?
- 17:55Speaker 4: They a good football team defensively, offensively, big questions, but
- 17:59Speaker 4: they found ways to win games. And you come into
- 18:01Speaker 4: the fourth quarter trailing, you leave it flexing your chest.
- 18:04Speaker 4: Dominated the final fifteen minutes, even with you know, a
- 18:07Speaker 4: couple of bone headed you know, taunting penalties and things
- 18:10Speaker 4: like that.
- 18:11Speaker 3: They may not have even gotten the last Kenny Pickett sneak.
- 18:14Speaker 3: They did not win. Is they did not. Let's just
- 18:17Speaker 3: stay let's be diplomatic.
- 18:18Speaker 4: Yeah, that's that's the deal. I really want to like
- 18:22Speaker 4: this team more than I do. But I have listened
- 18:23Speaker 4: to you Steelers fans. I have moved them up. They're
- 18:26Speaker 4: in the top fourteen. They're in that playoff march right now.
- 18:29Speaker 2: Yeah, real quick. Here, there's a loophole when it comes
- 18:31Speaker 2: to NFL officiating. Here, all turnovers on downs are automatically reviewed. Right,
- 18:36Speaker 2: So if Kenny was ruled to have been short of
- 18:38Speaker 2: the first down, they would have gotten an automatic review.
- 18:41Speaker 2: But getting the first down on fourth down is not
- 18:44Speaker 2: automatically reviewed every one of the building, including Kenny Pigott,
- 18:48Speaker 2: knows that if they had reviewed that it wasn't a
- 18:51Speaker 2: first down. Regardless, the Steelers won the game and Sean
- 18:54Speaker 2: McVay was out of timeouts. Let's do Germany and remind
- 18:59Speaker 2: you that come it up weeks nine and ten. We
- 19:02Speaker 2: have games in Germany. Week nine, the Dolphins and the If.
- 19:04Speaker 2: Week ten it's the Colts and the Patriots in Frankfort.
- 19:09Speaker 2: You can watch the game on NFL Network and you
- 19:12Speaker 2: can stream it on NFL Plus plus dot NFL dot
- 19:15Speaker 2: com plus dot NFL dot Com exclusively right here on
- 19:21Speaker 2: NFL Network. Now, I was getting so excited here about
- 19:26Speaker 2: future champions. Let's do them. They're presented by FanDuel as
- 19:30Speaker 2: we show you a team with the best odds to
- 19:33Speaker 2: win the NFC South, the team that has already gone
- 19:37Speaker 2: overseas this year, the Atlanta Falcons. They are the favorite.
- 19:41Speaker 2: After Desmond Ritter comes alive, Eric late and sets up
- 19:46Speaker 2: young Way Coop for a game winner, you have the
- 19:50Speaker 2: Falcons up six to sixteen.
- 19:53Speaker 4: They have a formula, don't they all right, let the
- 19:55Speaker 4: kicker take care of business.
- 19:56Speaker 3: Lade Desmon Ritter has led them back four times.
- 19:59Speaker 4: This year, but six interceptions, six fumbles, three fumble Sunday
- 20:03Speaker 4: after a three.
- 20:04Speaker 3: Pick the week before.
- 20:06Speaker 4: Stop the turnovers, des when you're making it too tough.
- 20:08Speaker 4: The Vjon situation was a little weird, but look it
- 20:11Speaker 4: came out with a win over Division four on the road.
- 20:14Speaker 3: Can't really argue with that, so credit to them.
- 20:16Speaker 4: They keep finding ways to get it done in the
- 20:18Speaker 4: situations they don't win impressively, but they get it done.
- 20:21Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't know what the big stink is with
- 20:23Speaker 2: a Vjon thing like I wasn't feeling well, so he
- 20:25Speaker 2: didn't finish the game. It wasn't feeling well. You every
- 20:27Speaker 2: wake up on a Sunday morning and not feel well?
- 20:29Speaker 2: Me too. Falcons won the game thanks to Young Wag
- 20:33Speaker 2: who's bomb right there, and they beat the fighting Baker Mayfield.
- 20:40Speaker 2: All right. Coming up on the NFL Power Ranking Show
- 20:42Speaker 2: presented by Energizer, the Vikings pulled the stunner on Monday night.
- 20:47Speaker 2: What now do they do? Kirk Cousin's not getting traded,
- 20:52Speaker 2: that's straight ahead. It's the NFL Power Ranking Show presented
- 20:56Speaker 2: by Energizer. The countdown continues. I feel like Casey case
- 20:59Speaker 2: and telling you the Bucks are down five to seventeen,
- 21:02Speaker 2: followed by the Rams, the Saints, and the Vikings. There
- 21:05Speaker 2: at twenty Indianapolis, the LA Chargers, the Green Bay Packers,
- 21:09Speaker 2: and the Las Vegas Raiders. According to one Eric at home,
- 21:12Speaker 2: he has the Vikings up five eric after beating and
- 21:16Speaker 2: stunning the forty nine ers on Monday Night. And they're
- 21:19Speaker 2: kind of in this middle ground of mediocrity in the NFC.
- 21:23Speaker 2: They're kind of in it for a wild card or
- 21:26Speaker 2: do they trade Kirk Cousins. I don't know, choose your
- 21:28Speaker 2: own adventure.
- 21:30Speaker 4: Yeah, right, I mean they're pretty interesting all of a sudden, right,
- 21:33Speaker 4: I mean that trade Kirk talks should quiet down after
- 21:36Speaker 4: probably his best game and in at least a year,
- 21:39Speaker 4: if not longer, maybe one of the best games we've
- 21:41Speaker 4: seen by a quarterback this season. And to do it
- 21:43Speaker 4: without Justin Jefferson to do it, you know, with Addison
- 21:46Speaker 4: leaving the game briefly, the massive night he had stealing
- 21:49Speaker 4: a touchdown away from Chervarius Ward after you'd had one
- 21:53Speaker 4: taken away from him earlier in the game.
- 21:54Speaker 3: You know, just so many things went right. They rotated
- 21:57Speaker 3: the running backs, it was effective, the offensive line didn't
- 21:59Speaker 3: get killed, and defensively.
- 22:01Speaker 4: Look, they forced the key turnovers, that's what they wanted
- 22:04Speaker 4: to do, two late interceptions, the early Christian McCaffrey fumble.
- 22:07Speaker 4: It was a great game plan, very well executed. And
- 22:11Speaker 4: you know, a loss that can come our win rather
- 22:13Speaker 4: that can springboard him into something really interesting all of
- 22:16Speaker 4: a sudden. This is a team that won a lot
- 22:17Speaker 4: of games last year, So don't count them out yet.
- 22:19Speaker 2: And as we sit here today, they are three and
- 22:21Speaker 2: four in the eighth spot in the NFC somehow and
- 22:25Speaker 2: seven teams make the playoffs. But this week they also
- 22:28Speaker 2: go to Green Bay, and the Vikings are one of
- 22:30Speaker 2: those teams where I say they're not good enough to
- 22:32Speaker 2: just start checking off wins. So what are they getting
- 22:35Speaker 2: in Green Bay this week? You have the Packers down
- 22:38Speaker 2: three to twenty three.
- 22:40Speaker 4: Yeah, they're getting a team that we're already starting to question,
- 22:44Speaker 4: or at least the nervous Packer fans and people who
- 22:46Speaker 4: follow that team, whether Jordan Love is the guy. I
- 22:49Speaker 4: don't seem to remember this happening in two thousand and
- 22:52Speaker 4: eight with Aaron Rodgers, But look, I mean he's only
- 22:55Speaker 4: been slightly worse than Rogers was. Interestingly enough, through his
- 22:58Speaker 4: first six starts. I think there's a little bit of
- 23:00Speaker 4: a panic factor here. The fact that he's thrown interceptions
- 23:03Speaker 4: in four straight game, that's a big deal. I want
- 23:06Speaker 4: to see this defense, you know, continue the way they
- 23:09Speaker 4: played the other day. But it's about love consistently getting
- 23:12Speaker 4: the ball to those talent of receivers.
- 23:13Speaker 3: They don't do that, they don't have a chance.
- 23:15Speaker 2: I don't know. Packers fans are sad as are fans
- 23:19Speaker 2: of the bottom of your rankings. Let's get the end
- 23:23Speaker 2: of the line on the board here, the Commanders, the
- 23:26Speaker 2: Titans who trade Kevin Byard. Who's next? The Broncos, the Patriots,
- 23:30Speaker 2: The Bears are up to twenty nine. They got a
- 23:33Speaker 2: two in front of their name. Now the Giants, the Cardinals,
- 23:37Speaker 2: and the winless Carolina Panthers. What do we make of
- 23:40Speaker 2: the Commanders? I mean they should have eaten the Giants?
- 23:43Speaker 3: Eric, Yeah, yeah, they should have absolutely.
- 23:47Speaker 4: I mean, look the blockfield goal, the chances they had
- 23:50Speaker 4: down there. Sam Howell is sort of coming to the spotlight.
- 23:53Speaker 4: Is he the guys gonna get benched this week? Next week?
- 23:56Speaker 4: After that?
- 23:56Speaker 3: Is Eric?
- 23:57Speaker 4: The enemy's play calling helping all the pressure that's been
- 24:00Speaker 4: hit on them up front. Look, they've got to fix
- 24:03Speaker 4: something offensively, even quick before the Seagulls game.
- 24:05Speaker 3: And decide who their quarterback is for the rest of
- 24:07Speaker 3: the season. Andrew.
- 24:09Speaker 2: Remember past performance is not necessarily indicative of future gains.
- 24:12Speaker 2: So if you don't like where Eric put your team
- 24:14Speaker 2: this week, don't worry. Something crazy is going to happen
- 24:17Speaker 2: in Week eight. It always does, and then your team's
- 24:19Speaker 2: going to be somewhere else next week. So don't get mad.
- 24:21Speaker 2: Just watch Week eight and we thank you for watching
- 24:24Speaker 2: this show. You got it Eric every week. And remember
- 24:27Speaker 2: we're a podcast. Download us like, write a review, say
