- 0:00Speaker 1: I've always been a big Bob Seeker fan. So now,
- 0:03Speaker 1: is any of his stuff considered a hot rock.
- 0:07Speaker 2: Night moves?
- 0:08Speaker 1: No, No, that's a that's that's definitely a classic rock tune.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Maybe you'll accompany me because that's off of a later album.
- 0:20Speaker 3: I think that's off of the Against the Win album.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Maybe maybe that, But he was clearly a rocker throughout
- 0:30Speaker 1: his career, so it might be kind.
- 0:33Speaker 2: Of probably don't want to be considered No.
- 0:35Speaker 1: No, he's he has an appreciation of of of all
- 0:39Speaker 1: genres of music. He isn't as adamantly opposed to the
- 0:44Speaker 1: labeling of it as say a Donald Fagan of Steely
- 0:47Speaker 1: dan Is, you know. And I think that's because those
- 0:52Speaker 1: who are opposed to it are probably they feel like
- 0:59Speaker 1: it maybe cheapens or over commercializes, or you know, that
- 1:06Speaker 1: kind of thing to to their music that they put
- 1:08Speaker 1: And I understand that. But for me, I like the
- 1:13Speaker 1: designation of it because there are certain elements of every
- 1:18Speaker 1: artist that's in yacht rock, just about everyone that I like,
- 1:22Speaker 1: other and air Supply and just about every artist that
- 1:27Speaker 1: I like. There are some elements of some artists some
- 1:31Speaker 1: work that I'm not real crazy about. Now, Steely Dan's
- 1:33Speaker 1: an exception that I pretty much like all of their catalog.
- 1:36Speaker 3: There's very little that I don't like.
- 1:38Speaker 2: Through the yacht Rock documentary, I didn't realize how kind
- 1:41Speaker 2: of snobby they were. And it came to who they
- 1:43Speaker 2: worked with, yeah, and what studio musicians they would.
- 1:46Speaker 1: Have very particular, very particular, And that's part of what
- 1:51Speaker 1: made Steely Dan so good. They wanted their session musicians
- 1:54Speaker 1: to be top flight. Who was it that said, Uh,
- 1:57Speaker 1: what's the album Asia?
- 1:58Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 1:58Speaker 2: They said They said in the documentary on HBO yacht
- 2:02Speaker 2: Rock that if you wanted to test out your stereo system,
- 2:04Speaker 2: you would play that album and if it sounded good,
- 2:07Speaker 2: then you knew it's a good sound system.
- 2:09Speaker 1: If it didn't, you knew because if you've, if you've
- 2:12Speaker 1: ever listened to that album all the way through, you
- 2:15Speaker 1: would understand it.
- 2:16Speaker 4: Uh.
- 2:17Speaker 3: With the much varied.
- 2:21Speaker 1: UH offerings on that Uh Asia itself, the title cut
- 2:27Speaker 1: is probably as classic yacht rock to that and Deacon
- 2:31Speaker 1: Blues Are are probably the two classic gout rock offerings
- 2:35Speaker 1: off of that. But Black Cow and what's the other
- 2:40Speaker 1: one I'm thinking of, Josie? Those are those are good
- 2:43Speaker 1: you know rock and tunes off of that so anyway,
- 2:47Speaker 1: it's uh, yeah, I think it's a good that's probably
- 2:50Speaker 1: a good test. As always, we offer up our text
- 2:54Speaker 1: line to you and you're certainly welcome to access us
- 3:00Speaker 1: via the text and the way you do it is
- 3:02Speaker 1: you text the word Texas followed by your question or
- 3:05Speaker 1: comment to eight one five three zero. So you have
- 3:10Speaker 1: your question or comment, you simply text the word Texas
- 3:15Speaker 1: followed by your question or comment to eight one five
- 3:19Speaker 1: three zero. Standard messaging and data rates may apply now
- 3:24Speaker 1: toward that end, this this falls into the category I
- 3:29Speaker 1: was going to go into, and that is the long
- 3:34Speaker 1: worn football team and their future scheduling. Because we had
- 3:39Speaker 1: somebody on the text line who Texas right out of
- 3:43Speaker 1: the gate when the show began, who asked the question,
- 3:48Speaker 1: Actually this.
- 3:48Speaker 3: Was yesterday, somehow just slipped by missed this one.
- 3:52Speaker 1: They said, will we get a whole new slate of
- 3:56Speaker 1: SEC opponents after next season? The answer is yes. The
- 4:00Speaker 1: keywords there are after next season. So yeah, that's that's
- 4:06Speaker 1: the key. Because all of the return games for twenty
- 4:12Speaker 1: twenty four are on track for twenty twenty five.
- 4:16Speaker 2: So we kind of know who we're not going to
- 4:19Speaker 2: play obviously, who's in the schedule now except for Oklahoma
- 4:22Speaker 2: at A and M. But also, I don't think we're
- 4:23Speaker 2: going to see Alabama the next two years. Yeah, good chance.
- 4:27Speaker 2: We do see Ole Miss and LSU though, yeah, if
- 4:31Speaker 2: not both, at least one of those.
- 4:32Speaker 1: Well, and that's what we don't know yet is exactly
- 4:37Speaker 1: you know what the twenty twenty six season schedule will
- 4:42Speaker 1: look like now it the twenty twenty five schedule was revealed,
- 4:49Speaker 1: and the twenty twenty five schedule, as you know, opens
- 4:52Speaker 1: with Ohio State in Columbus on August thirtieth, then San
- 4:56Speaker 1: Jose stayed at home on September sixth, and then UTEP
- 5:01Speaker 1: on September thirteenth. Then there'll be an open date the
- 5:04Speaker 1: first bye week, and then Sam Houston at home on
- 5:07Speaker 1: September twenty seventh. Then begins SCC play October fourth in Gainesville,
- 5:13Speaker 1: Florida against Florida. You need to know right now, the
- 5:17Speaker 1: Texas Long Wriners do not have a home game in
- 5:18Speaker 1: the month of October. They are the designated home team
- 5:23Speaker 1: for the matchup with Oklahoma in Dallas, but they are
- 5:29Speaker 1: at Florida on October fourth. They have the Oklahoma game
- 5:33Speaker 1: on October eleventh. They play at Kentucky on October sixteenth.
- 5:39Speaker 1: October eighteenth, excuse me, They play at Mississippi State on
- 5:43Speaker 1: October twenty fifth. Then they come home and play Vanderbilt
- 5:47Speaker 1: at home on November first. They have a second bye
- 5:49Speaker 1: week before going to Athens, Georgia to play at Georgia
- 5:52Speaker 1: on November fifteenth. They have Arkansas at home on November
- 5:55Speaker 1: twenty second, and then they finished with Texas A and
- 5:58Speaker 1: M at home on the satura of Thanksgiving weekend November
- 6:02Speaker 1: twenty ninth. So they played back to back rival games
- 6:05Speaker 1: to close out the regular season, both games at home.
- 6:07Speaker 3: Remember they played all.
- 6:08Speaker 1: Three of the rival opponents away from Austin this past season.
- 6:14Speaker 1: They played, of course Oklahoma game is always in Dallas,
- 6:16Speaker 1: and then they played Arkansas on November sixteenth in Fayettvilla,
- 6:20Speaker 1: and Texas A and M in College Station on November thirtieth.
- 6:24Speaker 2: So those last three games are tough, Greg.
- 6:27Speaker 3: Yeah, George, Arkansas, Texas A and M.
- 6:30Speaker 1: But everybody looked at the other grind and said, hey,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you know Oklahoma. They thought Oklahoma was going to be
- 6:35Speaker 1: a big grinder, followed by the Georgia and then then
- 6:38Speaker 1: they went to Vanderbilt after that. So it's gonna be
- 6:41Speaker 1: interesting to see how that ultimately ultimately plays out. But
- 6:49Speaker 1: to answer the question, yes, they will get a whole
- 6:52Speaker 1: new set of SEC opponents. Now, I don't know if
- 6:56Speaker 1: that means Alabama will be on the schedule or not.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I don't know if it means LSU will be on
- 7:01Speaker 1: the schedule or not, or Auburn. I would say probably
- 7:05Speaker 1: one or the other Alabama or Auburn would play, probably
- 7:09Speaker 1: one or the other LSU or Ole miss Probably one
- 7:13Speaker 1: or the other Missouri or South Carolina would be on it,
- 7:17Speaker 1: I think, and probably one or the other Tennessee.
- 7:23Speaker 3: And who am I leaving out? I don't think I'm
- 7:27Speaker 3: leaving anybody else.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Maybe maybe that is everybody else that that would be
- 7:32Speaker 1: on there, So maybe Tennessee's I don't know.
- 7:34Speaker 3: It's going to be interesting to see with regard to that.
- 7:38Speaker 1: Also, yesterday and this happened Auburn, I said, probably either
- 7:42Speaker 1: Alabama or Auburn, probably one or the other. Probably I said,
- 7:47Speaker 1: either Missouri or South Carolina. Probably either Ole Miss or LSU.
- 7:54Speaker 2: That's all them.
- 7:55Speaker 1: Yeah, And if you factor in what you know, if
- 7:57Speaker 1: there's traditional rivalry, I said, in maybe Tennessee don't know.
- 8:01Speaker 3: Yeh uh, So we'll see how that that.
- 8:04Speaker 1: So, Yes to the question yesterday, Yeah, there'll be a
- 8:07Speaker 1: whole new slate of SEC opponents after next season. CB
- 8:14Speaker 1: said that yesterday is the you can say good night
- 8:17Speaker 1: to this one in prodigious cloud or my favorite Craig sayings,
- 8:20Speaker 1: I've never heard you say that, which one? Uh, prodigious cloud.
- 8:24Speaker 1: You know what that's from, the reason why you're saying that?
- 8:28Speaker 2: Oh boy, story time.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Yeah, two thousand and nine College World Series.
- 8:35Speaker 3: Texas is.
- 8:38Speaker 1: In the bracket final against Arizona State. They had already
- 8:43Speaker 1: beaten Arizona State earlier in the series. Arizona State had
- 8:47Speaker 1: Mike Leak, remember him, and pitched the big leagues and
- 8:50Speaker 1: they were up six to nothing on the log Hoorns
- 8:52Speaker 1: I think in the second inning on that game, and
- 8:53Speaker 1: Texas came back to win that and then they played
- 8:56Speaker 1: again in the bracket final. Now, had Texas lost, they
- 9:00Speaker 1: would have had to play one more time the next day.
- 9:03Speaker 1: LSU was waiting on the other side for the winner.
- 9:06Speaker 1: Texas trailed three to two going to the bottom of
- 9:09Speaker 1: the ninth and I think, yeah, I don't even think
- 9:14Speaker 1: there was one out. I think Cameron Rupp was leading
- 9:17Speaker 1: off and he hit a ball that went dead straight
- 9:21Speaker 1: out of Rosenblatt Stadium, over the center field fence and
- 9:26Speaker 1: went down the hill and disappeared into the smoke of
- 9:29Speaker 1: the barbecue grills down there. It just disappeared into the
- 9:33Speaker 1: night and the thing and and talking about because it
- 9:36Speaker 1: was well in excess of four hundred feet, probably about
- 9:38Speaker 1: four hundred and fifty foot and in describing it, I said,
- 9:41Speaker 1: a prodigious clout. And then the next guy to come
- 9:47Speaker 1: up was Connor Row, the center fielder, a slap hitter,
- 9:51Speaker 1: and he just managed to slap one right in the
- 9:54Speaker 1: first row of the grand Ston Efforts and it was
- 9:57Speaker 1: a walk off in Jexas won the ball game four
- 9:59Speaker 1: to three, back to back home runs. One that was
- 10:01Speaker 1: a monstrous shody, prodigious clout from from Cameron Rubb.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Cam and I have talked about this a couple of
- 10:09Speaker 3: times when I've seen him.
- 10:10Speaker 1: He was a volunteer assistant for a while and then
- 10:14Speaker 1: he was at other schools, and we've laughed about that
- 10:16Speaker 1: because he heard an awful lot about that prodigious clout thing,
- 10:19Speaker 1: and and I think he got a copy of it.
- 10:21Speaker 1: It was just something that came out of my mouth
- 10:23Speaker 1: at the time. And then and then uh and then
- 10:28Speaker 1: like I said, that kind of roe hit the other one.
- 10:30Speaker 1: So that's that's where that comes from. The prodigious cloud thing.
- 10:33Speaker 2: It's there's there's an article on burn Origination about this.
- 10:36Speaker 2: I didn't know.
- 10:38Speaker 1: Really, Yeah, what about prodigious cloud. Yeah, okay, I didn't
- 10:43Speaker 1: know it either.
- 10:44Speaker 3: Yeah. Uh, well that's what it came from.
- 10:49Speaker 1: And Seebe says, Oh, by the way, I've had to
- 10:51Speaker 1: make shoulder multiple times since it's been back. We had
- 10:54Speaker 1: that story yesterday about the McRib and whether it was
- 10:57Speaker 1: a rib or you know.
- 10:59Speaker 3: He said, it's not.
- 11:00Speaker 1: Really a rib. It's pork's shoulder, is what it is.
- 11:03Speaker 1: And CBS had it multiple times. I had it the
- 11:05Speaker 1: other night for the first time this year. And so anyway,
- 11:09Speaker 1: let's hear from Let's let's hear from Tremont Mark, who
- 11:14Speaker 1: had a big game for Texas last night and seems
- 11:16Speaker 1: to be getting more and more comfortable in his time,
- 11:19Speaker 1: and he helped the long Horns get the win last
- 11:21Speaker 1: night over New Mexico State. Tonight for the Longhorns, part
- 11:25Speaker 1: of that team effort, and Tremon four to six from
- 11:29Speaker 1: the floor three of five from three point range, fourteen
- 11:31Speaker 1: point seven rebounds. I hadn't described to me tremont As
- 11:36Speaker 1: that you seem to get washed in the game and
- 11:39Speaker 1: that you were very, very comfortable out there. Did you
- 11:41Speaker 1: feel likewise, Uh?
- 11:42Speaker 3: Yes, I did.
- 11:43Speaker 4: I just feel like I just doing what my team
- 11:45Speaker 4: needed me to do. Play defense, a guard, make shots
- 11:49Speaker 4: when I'm open, pass and I feel like I escued it.
- 11:51Speaker 1: That's and a good team win. How difficult was it
- 11:54Speaker 1: for you? We know what an athlete you are, what
- 11:57Speaker 1: a player you are to have to go through what
- 11:58Speaker 1: you went through with the ankle and be patient, which
- 12:01Speaker 1: is kind of hard, didn't it.
- 12:03Speaker 2: Yeah, it was very hard.
- 12:04Speaker 4: It was very hard just coming back from that injury.
- 12:06Speaker 4: You know, you always feel like first coming back from
- 12:08Speaker 4: an injury, you can just do so many things because
- 12:10Speaker 4: you feel better, but it's not it's not like that.
- 12:12Speaker 4: You gotta work your way in and I did have
- 12:14Speaker 4: a hard time at that, but I'm feeling way better
- 12:16Speaker 4: than and I'm feeling feeling good.
- 12:18Speaker 1: So yeah, being an older guy, you feel like once
- 12:21Speaker 1: you hit the conference, you can help these guys, these
- 12:23Speaker 1: younger guys, and make them aware of what's ahead of
- 12:26Speaker 1: them and just.
- 12:27Speaker 2: Oh, for sure.
- 12:29Speaker 4: I've already let everybody know what kind of conference this is.
- 12:32Speaker 4: So like and they and they're they're we're ready for
- 12:35Speaker 4: We're going.
- 12:36Speaker 2: To go into one hundred full speeding and get and.
- 12:39Speaker 1: Get ready for Take Treminta, how about your first semester
- 12:43Speaker 1: here in Austin, How things go for you, not only
- 12:46Speaker 1: just academically, but adjusting to the lifestyle here in Austin
- 12:49Speaker 1: and everything?
- 12:50Speaker 3: It was good.
- 12:50Speaker 2: I love Austin.
- 12:51Speaker 4: My sister went here, she graduated from here, so I've
- 12:53Speaker 4: always been around here and I love I love the
- 12:56Speaker 4: city of Austin City.
- 12:57Speaker 1: I know a lot of people I've seen you here,
- 12:58Speaker 1: appreciate the time. Tremont sir, Thank you, thank you, thank you.
- 13:01Speaker 3: I have a good night.
- 13:02Speaker 1: All right there it is Tremon Mark and uh yeah,
- 13:06Speaker 1: you can just see him starting to get more and
- 13:08Speaker 1: more comfortable and uh, like I said.
- 13:11Speaker 3: Lost in the game a little bit.
- 13:12Speaker 1: We'll hear Rodney Terry talk about that coming up next hour,
- 13:15Speaker 1: up next inconceivable for a Friday afternoon, and you know
- 13:19Speaker 1: what that means. When we continue here on sports Radio
- 13:22Speaker 1: AM thirteen under the zone of the iHeartRadio app
