- 0:00Speaker 1: So I get up this morning.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Yeah, alarm goes off at three, But I slept in
- 0:04Speaker 2: a little bit because Hudson was snuggling just right. You know,
- 0:08Speaker 2: it's hard to get up, hard to get up when
- 0:10Speaker 2: the snuggle is happy.
- 0:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 0:11Speaker 2: So, you know, about three fifteen, get up, go to
- 0:14Speaker 2: the bathroom, and then I pull out my iPad and
- 0:17Speaker 2: I start, you know, doing some research for the show
- 0:20Speaker 2: and you know, finding out who died, all that stuff,
- 0:23Speaker 2: you know, getting ready to come to work. And it
- 0:27Speaker 2: was about three forty. I think I can't remember my motion.
- 0:32Speaker 2: Alarm goes off. Is there an actual sound or is
- 0:36Speaker 2: it just a lot? I just it shows up on
- 0:38Speaker 2: my iPad. No, I says, there is motion on the
- 0:40Speaker 2: side of your house. Oh and oh, so I press
- 0:46Speaker 2: I pressed the button see the motion, to see the motion,
- 0:50Speaker 2: and this is what I saw.
- 0:53Speaker 1: Go ahead and hit that. Uh raccoons.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Nature's a little bad.
- 0:58Speaker 2: I'll watch him. He's along the top of the fence,
- 1:01Speaker 2: crashed the gate. That's my bedroom wall right there.
- 1:06Speaker 1: Could you hear anything?
- 1:07Speaker 2: I could not hear anything. He's a silent, little little guy.
- 1:11Speaker 2: He doesn't seem too healthy to me. He's not that little,
- 1:15Speaker 2: He's not that little yet.
- 1:16Speaker 1: And he was interested in something on the roof.
- 1:19Speaker 2: And then here's the thing is that he he he
- 1:22Speaker 2: came from the neighbor's yard up on top of the fence,
- 1:26Speaker 2: crawled up and thought about going up on the roof
- 1:29Speaker 2: and realized I.
- 1:30Speaker 1: Can't make it. But then he tries again.
- 1:33Speaker 4: Does he come back out? Now?
- 1:34Speaker 2: He comes back and tries to get up. You know,
- 1:38Speaker 2: he'll crawl up along the gate and then come up again.
- 1:43Speaker 1: So here he comes again. He's sticking up.
- 1:47Speaker 4: Its creepy where their eyes glow like that.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Yeah, with the light. And then he comes along the
- 1:53Speaker 1: fence again. He wants up on the.
- 1:55Speaker 2: Roof, something on the bricks there, and then he's he's
- 2:00Speaker 2: thinking can I climb the wall?
- 2:02Speaker 1: Can I? Maybe I can't?
- 2:06Speaker 4: All right?
- 2:06Speaker 3: Now?
- 2:06Speaker 1: What am I going to do?
- 2:08Speaker 4: Make a home up in the attic?
- 2:09Speaker 1: And so then he goes back to the neighbor's side.
- 2:13Speaker 4: Have you had any any problem with him at all before?
- 2:18Speaker 1: Not problem.
- 2:21Speaker 2: The history of raccoons in this house goes back a
- 2:24Speaker 2: very long time too. When we when we first bought
- 2:28Speaker 2: it from raccoons, we first moved in and my friend
- 2:32Speaker 2: Van brought his dog up and his dog.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Is a big old Akita mix.
- 2:35Speaker 2: I remember this, and we were having a party and
- 2:39Speaker 2: the dog was in the backyard with us, and we
- 2:42Speaker 2: hear this screaming over in the over in the bushes,
- 2:46Speaker 2: and then here comes the dog with a raccoon.
- 2:49Speaker 1: In his mouth and he shakes, you know, the pretty
- 2:55Speaker 1: mean and he breaks the raccoons back. Oh geez, I
- 3:00Speaker 1: don't remember this. And so he's and so he's lying there.
- 3:03Speaker 2: The raccoon's just kind of lying there, and we're like,
- 3:04Speaker 2: you know, get the dog away, and all the all
- 3:07Speaker 2: the girls are crying and upset, and everyone's upset, and
- 3:11Speaker 2: so me and Jimmy Park we said, everybody go inside,
- 3:16Speaker 2: just go inside. And so me and Jimmy are standing there,
- 3:18Speaker 2: and what do we do?
- 3:19Speaker 1: What do we do?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Still alive?
- 3:21Speaker 1: It's still alive.
- 3:22Speaker 2: It's lying there, it's just lying there, kind of twitch
- 3:28Speaker 2: and and I said, what do we do?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Jimmy? And he goes, well, we should put it out
- 3:32Speaker 1: of its misery. Get a shovel.
- 3:34Speaker 2: And I said, I got a shovel. We can hit
- 3:38Speaker 2: it on the head. I suppose I can't do it,
- 3:40Speaker 2: can you? And we both look at it a while
- 3:42Speaker 2: and we realize it's not got much longer. So I said,
- 3:48Speaker 2: let's just let let it happen. Let's all go inside
- 3:52Speaker 2: and I'll take care of it later. And so after
- 3:56Speaker 2: about an hour we come out. He was dead, got
- 3:59Speaker 2: the shovel, put in the garbage, the whole thing. And
- 4:01Speaker 2: that we didn't see raccoons for years after that.
- 4:04Speaker 3: And that's because they're smart and about that.
- 4:08Speaker 2: That's because it's because I think that the word got
- 4:11Speaker 2: out in the raccoon community.
- 4:13Speaker 1: There's a monster in this yard, and don't go there.
- 4:16Speaker 1: It's been long enough, but his time has passed.
- 4:18Speaker 2: Now now this raccoon has come back a few times
- 4:23Speaker 2: in weeks proceeding and he is in.
- 4:28Speaker 1: The backyard just kind of sniffing around.
- 4:29Speaker 2: And what happens is after the sprinklers go off, he
- 4:31Speaker 2: he like goes into the grass.
- 4:33Speaker 1: It's like water, getting.
- 4:34Speaker 2: Water and bugs and worms, worms that crawl up. Yeah,
- 4:39Speaker 2: so he's been he's been back. He's a loner though
- 4:42Speaker 2: he's not got a family.
- 4:43Speaker 1: Have we named him yet, don't usually in his yard.
- 4:50Speaker 2: See, Sue has a theory that I should go out
- 4:54Speaker 2: there today and take a look. She thinks that there's
- 4:57Speaker 2: a bird's nest, maybe because we have head birds that
- 5:00Speaker 2: are hanging out and he's trying to get to their
- 5:03Speaker 2: eggs because the raccoons their egg suckers.
- 5:07Speaker 1: He was very interested in that corner of you.
- 5:09Speaker 3: There's something up there that he wants, something that he
- 5:11Speaker 3: wants so or she wants, I don't know, bow in
- 5:18Speaker 3: her hair.
- 5:19Speaker 1: So that's how you know.
- 5:20Speaker 4: My story with raccoons.
- 5:22Speaker 3: We had to trap several of them before they finally
- 5:25Speaker 3: but they did. They and the guy said, they'll get
- 5:28Speaker 3: the they'll get the picture. They'll understand. Don't go to
- 5:31Speaker 3: that place or you will be trapped and taken away.
- 5:34Speaker 1: And you haven't had anymore, no, not for years.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Now people are speculating, well, they want to see the
- 5:39Speaker 2: video again.
- 5:41Speaker 1: So I'm listening on the app. Put the video up again. Okay,
- 5:44Speaker 1: all right, go ahead play it again if you want.
- 5:47Speaker 2: Uh. People are saying, do you have solar and perhaps
- 5:50Speaker 2: pigeon eggs up on the roof.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Now I I've been up there and I what are
- 5:54Speaker 1: solar pigeon eggs?
- 5:55Speaker 2: That's you know, the solar the pigeons underneath the solar
- 5:58Speaker 2: panels like they like to nest usually.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Now I went up there there it is again.
- 6:05Speaker 4: Me.
- 6:06Speaker 1: I The reason I say how far is it from
- 6:08Speaker 1: that gate to the roof. It's about six feet way
- 6:13Speaker 1: from the top of the gate way. Too much for
- 6:15Speaker 1: him to I.
- 6:17Speaker 2: Mean, you know the reason I say I don't think
- 6:19Speaker 2: he looks well is because his tail isn't very fluffy.
- 6:23Speaker 1: Well, Harry prefers a fluffy I.
- 6:25Speaker 3: Mean, I think I think that that's just a matter
- 6:27Speaker 3: of of of genetics, some of some of some of
- 6:30Speaker 3: them have very fluffy tails and some not.
- 6:32Speaker 1: And how are you not calling him rocket?
- 6:35Speaker 4: I don't know it.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I won't. He's little king trash mouth.
- 6:41Speaker 3: No, I never got why never give him a name?
- 6:45Speaker 3: You'll feel bad, but when you have to kill him.
- 6:47Speaker 3: But yeah, so he's he's around. There was a guy
- 6:51Speaker 3: up in the avenues that I talked to. He had
- 6:54Speaker 3: trouble with raccoons. I said, what do you do about it?
- 6:56Speaker 3: He said, I trap him And then I said, oh,
- 6:58Speaker 3: and then do you go take him someplace them go?
- 7:00Speaker 3: And he said, no, I shoot them while they're in
- 7:01Speaker 3: the cage, and then I put them in the garbage
- 7:04Speaker 3: can because they're horrible.
- 7:06Speaker 1: That's horrible. I won't go that far.
- 7:10Speaker 3: I'd rather he just go away. Yeah, well, well you
- 7:14Speaker 3: can't be passive about.
- 7:16Speaker 2: So now when I go home, I've got to go
- 7:18Speaker 2: and see if there if there's a nest there that
- 7:20Speaker 2: he's trying to get to, and then I got to
- 7:22Speaker 2: climb up on the roof and see if there's.
- 7:24Speaker 1: He does have kind of a scrawny tail, That's what
- 7:27Speaker 1: I'm saying. He's not healthy. I don't know, he's just hungry.
- 7:31Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 7:32Speaker 3: You need to fatten up that tail, buddy, if he's
- 7:35Speaker 3: if he's you know, eating worms and stuff too happy.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Oh, he says, they only live two to five years
- 7:41Speaker 1: in the wild.
- 7:43Speaker 3: And you're there there. They are actually an invasive species.
- 7:47Speaker 3: They're not they're not originally native to this this area.
- 7:51Speaker 1: And he doesn't yeah, and doctor Neil says he does
- 7:53Speaker 1: look a bit haggard.
- 7:56Speaker 4: Uh.
- 7:56Speaker 2: They are born, they are baby raccoons, and then they
- 7:59Speaker 2: are kids, and then they are adults.
- 8:02Speaker 1: So that that one, that one looks like an adult
- 8:04Speaker 1: to me.
- 8:06Speaker 4: Okay, well, you gotta get yourself a raccoon trapper.
- 8:10Speaker 2: And it's yeah, it's true. There isn't enough room under
- 8:12Speaker 2: the solar panels for the birds, that's right.
- 8:16Speaker 1: So he's parkle climbing around on the roof. Can Okay
- 8:18Speaker 1: that his name is Parkour Panda.
- 8:21Speaker 4: That's cute.
- 8:22Speaker 1: I like that because he's climbing along with fence
