Speaker 4: Want to welcome to the show now, Delegate Dana Ferrell.
• 2:33
Speaker 4: Good morning, sir, welcome.
• 2:34
Speaker 5: To the show, Good morning day, good to be with you.
• 2:37
Speaker 2: Thank you for being here.
• 2:39
Speaker 4: So before we get into the reason you're here on
• 2:41
Speaker 4: the show, I did want to ask you as a
• 2:43
Speaker 4: as a longtime educator. Classes started last week in Knaw County.
• 2:47
Speaker 4: They started this morning of Putnham County.
• 2:49
Speaker 2: How long were you in the public school system thirty years?
• 2:53
Speaker 2: Thirty years? And do you miss it?
• 2:56
Speaker 5: I missed the kids yeah, absolutely, Well.
• 3:00
Speaker 2: I figured you did.
• 3:01
Speaker 4: And I've had opportunity, you know, in a former life
• 3:03
Speaker 4: to actually see you in action as you were educating,
• 3:07
Speaker 4: educating the young minds.
• 3:09
Speaker 2: You did and you did a great job. But it's
• 3:12
  Speaker 2: a different world.
• 3:12
Speaker 4: And I'll just leave it at that, and I know
• 3:14
Speaker 4: you saw the changes over the world's the world of
• 3:16
Speaker 4: education changed a lot in those thirty years that you
• 3:19
  Speaker 4: were there.
• 3:20
Speaker 5: Oh. Absolutely, Before I asked me all the time, it
• 3:22
Speaker 5: said the difference. When I came in, I had classroom rules.
• 3:25
Speaker 5: When I left, I had classroom expectations. You had to
• 3:29
Speaker 5: sell the kids on what you wanted. You couldn't demand
• 3:32
  Speaker 5: it any longer.
• 3:34
Speaker 4: That's just amazing to me, I mean, how much it changed.
• 3:38
Speaker 4: But again that's another show for another time. So late
• 3:42
Speaker 4: Friday night, Delegate a horrific accident after sixty four to
• 3:45
Speaker 4: seventy seven split. Four people were killed. The story posted
• 3:48
Speaker 4: about at WCHS network dot com and according to the
• 3:52
Speaker 4: police report from Charleston p DA, driver lost control of
• 3:55
Speaker 4: a vehicle around ten fifty two or so Friday night,
• 3:58
Speaker 4: heading east. The vehicle hit the median wall and then
• 4:01
Speaker 4: went over the interstate and onto the Martin Marrie out
• 4:04
Speaker 4: of Charleston Yard on Pennsylvania Avenue. All four people, as
• 4:06
Speaker 4: I said, were killed. Second crash in that same spot,
• 4:10
Speaker 4: pretty much in the same way this week. Other the
• 4:12
Speaker 4: other attractor trailer went over last Wednesday morning. People in
• 4:16
Speaker 4: that wreck were injured but did survive. Then there was
• 4:18
Speaker 4: another accident last Sunday, this one on the Fort Hill Bridge,
• 4:21
Speaker 4: and your daughter was a passenger in the vehicle that
• 4:25
Speaker 4: crashed there, and you found strong enough to post about
• 4:28
Speaker 4: it on social media as far as the dangers on
• 4:30
Speaker 4: the highways there, and you're calling for action, what would
• 4:32
Speaker 4: you like to see happened, Delegate, Well.
• 4:35
Speaker 5: Sure, obviously you know when I woke up Saturday morning
• 4:39
Speaker 5: and saw the news on the accident that happened Friday night,
• 4:42
Speaker 5: that really touched the nerve with me because it was
• 4:45
Speaker 5: the almost exact exact same town that we got the
• 4:48
Speaker 5: phone call on my daughter last Sunday night that they'd
• 4:53
Speaker 5: been in the accent on the bridge and uh it
• 4:55
Speaker 5: had it not been for the steel girder that they
• 4:58
Speaker 5: hit you a the barrier, they would have went over
• 5:02
Speaker 5: into the river. And so we were that close to
• 5:04
Speaker 5: losing her and her boyfriend. So and in that case,
• 5:09
Speaker 5: you had no fault of their own and they were
• 5:10
Speaker 5: struck by another vehicle, and it just, you know, it
• 5:15
Speaker 5: got to the point, you know, thinking that's the third
• 5:18
Speaker 5: incident in five days to happen, and we've got lost
• 5:22
Speaker 5: of life and critically injured, and it just, you know,
• 5:26
Speaker 5: I grew up here in the valley, and you know what,
• 5:30
Speaker 5: I was young enough when the system was built, and
• 5:35
Speaker 5: you've seen the accidents over time, and I think, you know,
• 5:38
Speaker 5: we we go accustomed to it. But I think at
• 5:41
Speaker 5: some point we've got to say, hey, you know, this
• 5:44
Speaker 5: isn't the same traffic demographics that we had in nineteen
• 5:48
Speaker 5: seventy five or so when the interstate system opened, and
• 5:52
Speaker 5: maybe we need to review some things and say, hey,
• 5:56
Speaker 5: you know, do we need to make some changes here.
• 5:58
Speaker 2: What kind of changes are you so do you have
• 6:00
  Speaker 2: in mind?
• 6:02
Speaker 5: Well, yeah, Dave, I think, yeah, I think you got
• 6:05
Speaker 5: to look at this. And of course it comes back
• 6:07
Speaker 5: to my sports uh uh familiarity that you look at
• 6:12
Speaker 5: this both an offensive and a defensive strategy here. And
• 6:15
Speaker 5: and when I say, hey, you know it's time to
• 6:17
Speaker 5: call review, I don't want to point the fingers at anybody.
• 6:19
Speaker 5: This isn't on dot Secretary run Ball inherited all these
• 6:23
Speaker 5: situations as to come in and uh, it's just you know,
• 6:27
Speaker 5: we want to work with them to try to find
• 6:29
Speaker 5: out what's going on. Let's let's look at the numbers,
• 6:33
Speaker 5: let's look at possible solutions and see how we can
• 6:35
Speaker 5: implement them. So I want to take both an offensive
• 6:38
Speaker 5: and a defensive strategy. Offensively, what can we do immediately
• 6:43
Speaker 5: to help drivers realize that the seriousness of that stretch
• 6:48
Speaker 5: of highway? Slow down, pay attention more, and you know,
• 6:53
  Speaker 5: we're as I'm sure you've seen, does it's comments saying
• 6:58
Speaker 5: use people just need to slow down. Well, it's easy
• 7:00
Speaker 5: enough to say, but I don't know anybody that hasn't
• 7:04
Speaker 5: exceeded the speed limit through that area late come in
• 7:08
Speaker 5: there for and you know, and even if somebody was
• 7:12
Speaker 5: being you know, even if the young boys that were
• 7:14
Speaker 5: killed the other night, we're exceeding speed limit, did they
• 7:17
Speaker 5: deserve what happened? You know? Because of that, I think
• 7:22
Speaker 5: it's an easy answer no. And and so we look
• 7:25
Speaker 5: at you know, uh, even winners of situation or success
• 7:28
Speaker 5: or speed, if somebody hits that barrier, you know, is
• 7:33
Speaker 5: there enough there to prevent them from going over the
• 7:37
Speaker 5: over the top of the barrier, so you know when
• 7:41
Speaker 5: we look at them. And since I raised the questions,
• 7:44
Speaker 5: it's just in the last twenty four to forty eight hours,
• 7:47
Speaker 5: I've got multiple input from former engineers, current engineers, people
• 7:53
Speaker 5: that work in highways and things that you know much
• 7:56
Speaker 5: and pretty insightful things that I think we can work with. So,
• 8:01
Speaker 5: as I mentioned in my original post, I think offensively,
• 8:03
Speaker 5: we we say, hey, we have flashing lights at the
• 8:07
Speaker 5: base of the UH hill there at mink Shouls. You
• 8:11
Speaker 5: come down seventy nine to one. You know that sharp
• 8:13
Speaker 5: curve as you do on the turnpike on UH several spots,
• 8:18
Speaker 5: you know, why not put rumble strips as you approach
• 8:22
Speaker 5: the bridge and that turn and some things to say,
• 8:24
Speaker 5: hey you pay attention, slow down here and take this
• 8:29
Speaker 5: easiest as a serious stretch of highway. It is answer
• 8:31
Speaker 5: you think about it?
• 8:32
Speaker 2: No, go ahead, I'm doing mean up you go ahead?
• 8:34
Speaker 5: No, I interest think now, you think about it even
• 8:38
Speaker 5: without speed being a factor when you're coming through there,
• 8:41
Speaker 5: at least you know, and I come down from the
• 8:42
Speaker 5: north and if I'm going out the south ridge or
• 8:45
Speaker 5: going west through that Fort Hill Bridge area, You've got
• 8:50
Speaker 5: two different entrance ramps. You got an exit ramp where
• 8:53
Speaker 5: a ton of traffics jumping off onto oak Wood, three
• 8:56
Speaker 5: or four lanes, you're you're forced over into the far
• 8:59
Speaker 5: lane if you're coming from the north or from the
• 9:02
Speaker 5: south going that way. And then if you're trying to
• 9:05
Speaker 5: get off of oak Wood, you've got to cross four
• 9:07
Speaker 5: lanes of traffic. I mean it's you better have your
• 9:11
Speaker 5: head on a swivel, even in the best of circumstances.
• 9:16
Speaker 5: On the other side. Yeah, and then you get on
• 9:18
Speaker 5: the other side, you're trying to get on from Oakwood,
• 9:20
Speaker 5: and you've got the length and maybe an aircraft carrier
• 9:22
Speaker 5: to try to get over two lanes, you know, to
• 9:26
Speaker 5: keep moving forward as people are trying to exit off
• 9:28
Speaker 5: one to Virginia Street. So just the design, I think
• 9:32
Speaker 5: a lot of people said, hey, look, you know, back
• 9:35
Speaker 5: in nineteen sixty seventy, when the design phase was going on,
• 9:39
Speaker 5: maybe that made sense. But if you look at the
• 9:44
Speaker 5: amount more traffic on the roads now than there were
• 9:47
Speaker 5: even in nineteen seventy or seventy five, We did some
• 9:51
Speaker 5: numbers and just some quick research shows there's over one
• 9:53
Speaker 5: hundred and seventy million more pickups and SUVs on the
• 9:57
Speaker 5: road than they're were it's mainly a sedans. Back then.
• 10:01
Speaker 5: There are over four times more semi trucks traveling on
• 10:06
Speaker 5: the road then there would have been down So it's
• 10:10
Speaker 5: just a different We're in a different phase of traffic
• 10:13
Speaker 5: flow and just you know, I think we've got to
• 10:17
Speaker 5: think differently, and maybe we did at that point. We
• 10:21
Speaker 5: can't go back and reset the highway and widen lanes
• 10:25
Speaker 5: or ad lanes, but I think, you know, we can
• 10:29
Speaker 5: take some precautions to try to slow traffic down, and
• 10:31
Speaker 5: then if it doesn't slow down, then what can we
• 10:33
Speaker 5: do as a defensive measure. And that's when we're looking
• 10:36
Speaker 5: at barriers. Some people talked about safety cables or nets
• 10:39
Speaker 5: and things like that. It's a more long term, it's
• 10:44
Speaker 5: a measure on them.
• 10:45
Speaker 4: It is interesting because that's something really I hadn't thought about,
• 10:48
Speaker 4: and you know, obviously you and some other folks have
• 10:50
Speaker 4: done some research research on this, because my first thought
• 10:53
Speaker 4: when you set when is that there's a whole lot
• 10:55
Speaker 4: less people now in the Charleston area than what there
• 10:59
Speaker 4: were back in the days.
• 11:01
Speaker 2: However, there's more traffic.
• 11:02
Speaker 4: On the road and I have noticed, I mean in
• 11:05
Speaker 4: the light I've been I've been traveling to Charleston ever
• 11:07
Speaker 4: since I've been driving, even when I lived in Logan,
• 11:11
Speaker 4: and there is a whole lot more traffic. There's less
• 11:13
Speaker 4: people here, but there are less local people, but there
• 11:16
Speaker 4: is a whole lot more traffic on the road. And
• 11:18
Speaker 4: you're right, you mentioned a couple of those instances, and
• 11:20
Speaker 4: I see it every day. I mean sometimes when once
• 11:24
Speaker 4: I hit and I'm driving home in the afternoon and
• 11:27
Speaker 4: I'm heading sixty four west, once I get to about mccorkel,
• 11:30
Speaker 4: you know, or maybe Montrose or whatever, it's like I
• 11:33
Speaker 4: have a sigh of relief because or in the morning
• 11:35
Speaker 4: when I get here, because I'm coming westbound and I'm
• 11:38
Speaker 4: one of those people that's going across the bridge that
• 11:40
Speaker 4: has to go, you know, to come down Virginia Street.
• 11:42
Speaker 4: And today, you know, usually people are pretty pretty nice about,
• 11:46
Speaker 4: you know, being courteous and you know, one to the other.
• 11:49
Speaker 2: But this morning, in.
• 11:50
Speaker 4: Particular, I had a particular person that just was not
• 11:54
Speaker 4: going to move and I ran out of road basically,
• 11:58
Speaker 4: you know, and I don't know.
• 11:59
Speaker 5: Manytimes almost had to stuff or you see somebody else
• 12:01
Speaker 5: almost have to stop on that bridge trying to merge.
• 12:05
Speaker 2: Well, that was me.
• 12:05
Speaker 4: Today because I mean, I pretty much I'm almost had to.
• 12:08
Speaker 4: And look, you know, I intentionally changed my schedule a
• 12:12
Speaker 4: year or so ago and started leaving earlier, you know,
• 12:15
Speaker 4: hoping to alleviate some of that because I also living
• 12:17
Speaker 4: in an area white to drive through school traffic and
• 12:19
Speaker 4: a school drop off. Don't don't get me started on that.
• 12:22
Speaker 4: So I started leaving thirty minutes earlier in the morning
• 12:25
  Speaker 4: just for that purpose. And I don't know, I don't
• 12:28
Speaker 4: know that it's done a lot of good. And I
• 12:30
Speaker 4: want to be careful here. We're talking with Delegate Data Firm.
• 12:33
Speaker 4: I'm gonna be careful. When we talked about the most
• 12:34
Speaker 4: recent accident Friday night, lots of speculation about I leave
• 12:37
Speaker 4: that up to proper authorities. But as you as you
• 12:40
Speaker 4: noted there, there's obviously there's obviously an issue here, and
• 12:45
Speaker 4: we don't know the investigation continuing.
• 12:47
Speaker 2: So I don't want to speculate anything.
• 12:48
Speaker 4: But with the amount of incidents that we have there,
• 12:51
Speaker 4: and somebody in one of the posts may have been
• 12:53
Speaker 4: on yours said something, well, we just need to, you know,
• 12:55
Speaker 4: put up science. People don't pay attention to science data.
• 12:58
Speaker 4: You know that I mean, and I'm not saying I'm
• 13:01
Speaker 4: not up on my high horse. You know, I got
• 13:03
Speaker 4: my first ever speeding ticket about three years ago in
• 13:05
Speaker 4: the state of Ohio driving all this time, and I
• 13:07
Speaker 4: had never had a speeding ticket about three years ago,
• 13:09
  Speaker 4: so I obviously ignored it. But I'm just I don't
• 13:12
Speaker 4: know what signs is the answer, because people just don't
• 13:14
Speaker 4: pay attention to signs.
• 13:16
Speaker 5: No, there was you know, there was an old nineteen
• 13:18
Speaker 5: seventies song sign sign ye walking up the scenery and
• 13:23
Speaker 5: clogging up my mind, And you know, I think that's you.
• 13:27
Speaker 5: There's just so much coming at us, and you know,
• 13:30
Speaker 5: look at a modern vehicle with touch screens and things
• 13:34
Speaker 5: to distract your attention on the inside. It's just a
• 13:37
Speaker 5: lot going on to a driver, I think when you
• 13:40
Speaker 5: at any given time. So that's why I say, I
• 13:44
Speaker 5: think you've really got to enforce the seriousness situation. Hence
• 13:49
Speaker 5: the flashing lights or rumble strips, those kinds of things
• 13:54
Speaker 5: that say, hey, this isn't just a typical stretch of
• 13:56
Speaker 5: highway that you're going through.
• 13:58

Speaker 4: Danny Jones coming up a little bit later on the show,
• 17:23
Speaker 4: talking again with the delegate Dan of Ferrell. Let me
• 17:26
Speaker 4: read a text here that we got here delegate that says,
• 17:29
Speaker 4: one big part of the problem is people are just
• 17:31
Speaker 4: very aggressive drivers that refuse to pay attention around them.
• 17:34
Speaker 4: For example, coming off Leon Sullivan, a lot of people
• 17:37
Speaker 4: don't realize that the center lane don't only go straight,
• 17:40
Speaker 4: it turns right as well. People in the far right
• 17:42
Speaker 4: lane just try to put themselves over in the left
• 17:44
Speaker 4: lane as soon as they turn. A driver trying to
• 17:46
Speaker 4: pull that move caused an accident years ago to put
• 17:49
Speaker 4: another car into the fence and the post office parking lot.
• 17:52
Speaker 4: So I mean, again, we don't want to speculate on
• 17:54
Speaker 4: these particular cases, okay, but we have a problem, you
• 17:58
Speaker 4: know with aggressive driving, and I and you mentioned distracted driving.
• 18:02
Speaker 4: I don't know that legislation changing the highways. Uh uh
• 18:07
Speaker 4: you know, science, I don't know that you can do
• 18:09
  Speaker 4: anything to change.
• 18:10
  Speaker 2: Behavior like that.
• 18:12
Speaker 5: Well, well that's why I said, I think you look
• 18:14
Speaker 5: at the both offensive and defensive measures with this, and
• 18:17
Speaker 5: offensively we try, you know, we try to get their
• 18:19
Speaker 5: attention as the best as what possibly can. But reality
• 18:23
Speaker 5: says that you know, we won't We won't stop everybody
• 18:26
Speaker 5: that is coming through there. So in the worst of situations, Uh,
• 18:31
Speaker 5: if a vehicle does go or hit the barrier, how
• 18:35
Speaker 5: can we best try to keep them on the highway
• 18:37
Speaker 5: and not go over the edge. That's a defensive approach. Thank,
• 18:41
Speaker 5: you know, we got to look at that both ways.
• 18:43
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 18:43
Speaker 5: I think there's some other things, you know, we can
• 18:44
Speaker 5: look at for certain you know, we I've talked with
• 18:47
Speaker 5: other members of the UH Joint Committee on Transportation Oversight
• 18:51
Speaker 5: in the legislature here and I think this is something
• 18:54
Speaker 5: moving into the next set of runs we come up
• 18:56
Speaker 5: after Labor Day again, you know, we want to talk
• 18:59
Speaker 5: to the Secretary about and see and let's get their viewpoints.
• 19:03
Speaker 5: I'm sure they're looking at it even as we speak.
• 19:06
Speaker 5: And what can be done within the primers that they have,
• 19:11
Speaker 5: What can we do to help them achieve that? What
• 19:15
Speaker 5: are other states on This is not the only elevated
• 19:18
Speaker 5: highway system through a city in the United States. In fact,
• 19:21
Speaker 5: there are hundreds around. So what are other municipalities and
• 19:25
Speaker 5: states doing to try to address the issue. We do
• 19:29
Speaker 5: know that the nitroustint Albans Bridge, it was just completed.
• 19:33
Speaker 5: The barriers on that bridge are the forty two inch
• 19:38
Speaker 5: which are the newer height. I think it used to
• 19:40
Speaker 5: be at thirty two inches and may still be where
• 19:44
Speaker 5: the Fort Hill Bridge is, but the forty two inches
• 19:50
Speaker 5: designed to help keep more STEMIs in the archer vehicles.
• 19:53
Speaker 5: As I said, there's four times as money on the
• 19:55
Speaker 5: road now from going over So those are but you
• 20:00
Speaker 5: know those come those were heavier. So can that Can
• 20:04
Speaker 5: that superstructure on the bridge and elevated highway through the
• 20:08
Speaker 5: city support the extra weight if you put the taller
• 20:11
Speaker 5: barriers in there. Uh, that's a question for an engineer.
• 20:15
Speaker 5: I can't say here, but it has to be asked.
• 20:19
Speaker 5: I think when you know, we want to look at statewide,
• 20:22
Speaker 5: not just in Charleston. What are the hot spots? And
• 20:26
Speaker 5: you know we need to be constantly looking at addressing
• 20:29
Speaker 5: news because you know, we're talking matters of life and
• 20:32
Speaker 5: death here with people, and I think we'd be negligent
• 20:35
Speaker 5: not to uh consistently look at what could be done better.
• 20:40
Speaker 4: We're talking any with Della Gadana Fair. I want to
• 20:42
Speaker 4: ask you about a couple other things non related to this.
• 20:44
Speaker 4: You're always good enough to, you know, very good to
• 20:46
Speaker 4: come on to answer about any questions I have as
• 20:48
Speaker 4: an educator as you were, you know, for so many years.
• 20:51
Speaker 4: One of the big things that's been in the news
• 20:52
Speaker 4: over the last couple of weeks was the delay or
• 20:55
Speaker 4: perceived delay, whatever the issue was with the clothing vounchers.
• 20:58
Speaker 4: Now you saw as an educator, and I've interviewed several
• 21:02
Speaker 4: educators that are also political folks and ask them about
• 21:06
Speaker 4: the issues that we had with the clothing vouchers.
• 21:08
Speaker 2: What's your take on the whole thing?
• 21:11
Speaker 5: Well, I twofold. I have no problem with their games,
• 21:16
Speaker 5: just like we're talking about here, constantly looking at the
• 21:18
Speaker 5: program and seeing how we can make it better, uh
• 21:20
Speaker 5: more efficient, and uh you work, you know, work as
• 21:23
Speaker 5: it should. But uh, I did have concern over the
• 21:26
Speaker 5: timing of the way things went down this summer. Uh
• 21:31
Speaker 5: just I don't think it's the right time to try
• 21:34
Speaker 5: to hold up any kind of funds.
• 21:36
  Speaker 1: Uh.
• 21:36
Speaker 5: And if they were short, then you know, we need
• 21:38
Speaker 5: to find those funds uh Uh. Trying to leave any
• 21:43
Speaker 5: chout in a situation where you know, they were expecting
• 21:46
Speaker 5: to get the money to parents work, you know, helped
• 21:48
Speaker 5: get to close for the kids go back to school,
• 21:52
Speaker 5: and then financially can't do that in the middle of
• 21:54
  Speaker 5: the game. I don't think that's the time we're trying
• 21:55
Speaker 5: to do that. So, you know, once once we get
• 21:59
Speaker 5: back in we get back in session, let's take a
• 22:01
Speaker 5: close look at it. Let's see how we can make
• 22:03
  Speaker 5: it better.
• 22:04
Speaker 4: It seemed to be that there was widespread concerned about this.
• 22:08
Speaker 4: Republicans and you're you know, you're a Republican, but Republicans
• 22:11
Speaker 4: and Democrats, everybody seemed to have an issue with whatever
• 22:14
Speaker 4: it was that happened, it didn't happen.
• 22:15
Speaker 2: And as you said, the timing.
• 22:17
Speaker 5: Yeah, because really, you know, this is a non partisan issue.
• 22:20
Speaker 5: I don't think look at it Democrat, Republican or anything
• 22:23
Speaker 5: like that, or even within the Republican Party. I think, hey,
• 22:27
Speaker 5: we I think everybody just wants to do the right thing.
• 22:30
Speaker 5: It's just how we're going to do that. I didn't like.
• 22:31
Speaker 5: I said, my only concern was the timing of it.
• 22:35
Speaker 5: You know, if we're going to start playing around with
• 22:38
Speaker 5: the uh distribution of it and how it's done, Uh,
• 22:42
Speaker 5: let's work on that during the off season. Uh, not
• 22:45
Speaker 5: in the middle of summer when the systems uh, when
• 22:48
Speaker 5: the eve of taking place, from the middle of it
• 22:50
  Speaker 5: taking place.
• 22:51
Speaker 4: The governor a couple of a month or so ago,
• 22:54
Speaker 4: you know, made the statement that about the whole cash
• 22:57
Speaker 4: aspect of it, and that money was being used on
• 23:00
Speaker 4: beer and cigarettes and things of that nature.
• 23:03
Speaker 2: Where do you agree with that? Do you somewhat agree
• 23:06
Speaker 2: with that? What's what? What's your take?
• 23:08
Speaker 5: Well, I think we get back like we just spoke
• 23:10
Speaker 5: about with you know, speed on the highway. I'm not
• 23:13
Speaker 5: sure you're going to stop everybody at the end of day.
• 23:15
  Speaker 5: I don't know's there's a full proof system, uh. And
• 23:18
Speaker 5: I think, as it is with any any system, there
• 23:22
Speaker 5: is the propensity for to be of use.
• 23:24
  Speaker 9: Uh.
• 23:24
Speaker 5: Like some people said, you know, we've got concerns with
• 23:26
Speaker 5: Hope scholarship with yeah, yes, starting up a school and
• 23:32
Speaker 5: taking the money and they can charge charge and have
• 23:36
Speaker 5: school two days a week and what have you take
• 23:38
Speaker 5: and take the money in there. We don't have any
• 23:40
Speaker 5: guardrails or or accountability on that h So I think
• 23:44
Speaker 5: anytime you're handing out government money, you want to try
• 23:47
Speaker 5: to get as uh as much oversight as possible, but
• 23:51
Speaker 5: I don't know one hundred percent prevent it. At the
• 23:53
Speaker 5: same time, you know, you have to look at the
• 23:55
Speaker 5: overall purpose of what you're trying to do and and
• 23:57
Speaker 5: not hurt people, you know, when you're trying to cave
• 24:03
  Speaker 5: your basis.
• 24:03
Speaker 4: On teligand day to Ferrell, I appreciate you taking time
• 24:06
Speaker 4: out of your schedule. I think you're going to make
• 24:08
Speaker 4: a return appearance with us later today on Metro News
• 24:10
Speaker 4: mid David, I appreciate you being here.
• 24:11
Speaker 5: Thanks a lot, Sure, absolutely, thank you Dave for time.
• 24:14
Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely, twenty nine minutes now in front of ten o'clock.
• 24:17
Speaker 4: But Dave Island Show in five eighty live brought to
• 24:19
Speaker 4: part by Morgan to Morgan, America's largest injury law firm.
• 24:22
Speaker 4: Text says, so you're all aware that there are two
• 24:24
Speaker 4: mccorcil avenues in South Charleston, the old and the new.
• 24:27
Speaker 4: Eighteen wheeler trunks get necked down into a dead end
• 24:30
Speaker 4: street by their GPS name change there might help. That's
• 24:36
Speaker 4: a good thought as well. Look, I have said this
• 24:38
Speaker 4: on the show before, and I have several good friends
• 24:40
Speaker 4: of mine that are in the trucking industry. We're in
• 24:43
Speaker 4: the trucking industry whatsoever. So I don't go around bad
• 24:46
Speaker 4: mouthing truckers. Okay, that's kind of not my thing. However,
• 24:49
Speaker 4: I will say that we have an issue where I
• 24:53
Speaker 4: live in Tays Valley where if you get in your
• 24:58
Speaker 4: car with me and go with me just a second,
• 24:59
Speaker 4: are you take your traveling westbound, you take the Tayes
• 25:02
Speaker 4: Valley exit, and you hang a left to go into
• 25:05
Speaker 4: the heart of Tays Valley, and we have the truck
• 25:07
Speaker 4: stop there on the left. We do have a major
• 25:10
Speaker 4: issue with trucks getting in the wrong lane and just
• 25:13
Speaker 4: merging over and maybe really some of them, some not all,
• 25:18
Speaker 4: seemingly just don't care that there are cars in those lanes.
• 25:21
Speaker 4: And so I mean that's that I see it every day.
• 25:24
Speaker 4: I see that every day. And again I'm not hating
• 25:26
Speaker 4: on truck drivers. I mean I'm not at all, but
• 25:29
Speaker 4: I'm hating on that behavior when it comes to truck drivers.
• 25:31
Speaker 2: I will say that text day.
• 25:36
Speaker 4: The first thing we could do regarding the I seventy
• 25:39
Speaker 4: seven I sixty more Charleston is to provide cops on
• 25:41
Speaker 4: the highway twenty four to seven. Well, good idea in theory,
• 25:46
Speaker 4: but I don't think we have enough cops to do that.
• 25:49
Speaker 4: We don't I mean every every law enforcement agency in
• 25:52
Speaker 4: the area, although I know Charleston just hired and just
• 25:55
Speaker 4: swore in several or are needing bodies right now and
• 25:59
Speaker 4: we just don't have bodies.
• 26:02
  Speaker 2: Some sad news.
• 26:03
Speaker 4: Broke on Friday, and we have the story posted this
• 26:05
Speaker 4: morning WCCHS network page. The president and CEO the Clay
• 26:09
Speaker 4: Center died suddenly. Al the Jar started the Clay Center
• 26:13
Speaker 4: and started at the Clay Center, came to work there
• 26:15
Speaker 4: in twenty fifteen, and he wasn't just the president and CEO.
• 26:20
Speaker 4: He could be seen actually teaching the kids who came
• 26:23
Speaker 4: into the center about various things. And he actually designed
• 26:27
Speaker 4: the Clay Center mobile unit, this Clay to Go. I'm
• 26:29
Speaker 4: sure you've seen that out and about. He actually designed it.
• 26:33
Speaker 4: I mean to the point that he set down with
• 26:35
Speaker 4: paper and pencil and drew out the plans. He will
• 26:39
Speaker 4: be missed and again we have a story posted about
• 26:41
Speaker 4: it at Wcchsnetwork dot Com also say and I think
• 26:47
Speaker 4: I think the talk line boys originally asked me to
• 26:49
Speaker 4: come on talk line to talk about this. Today I've
• 26:51
Speaker 4: probably been booted for something more interesting. But I was
• 26:55
Speaker 4: in the old hometown of Logan Saturday for the funeral
• 26:58
Speaker 4: services for Willie Akers packed Willie Akers Arena, Logan Memorial
• 27:02

• 27:05
Speaker 4: WVU legend. He was a great man for sure, and
• 27:07
Speaker 4: he will be missed. On a happier note, I want
• 27:11
Speaker 4: to say a special thank you to everyone who helped

• 27:21
Speaker 4: We raised and estimated one hundred and thirty thousand, one
• 27:25
Speaker 4: hundred and twenty one dollars for the hospital. Well, let
• 27:29
Speaker 4: me rephrase that we didn't. You did, greatest listeners in

• 28:12
Speaker 4: you're wondering about Chowen, they're a private Christian university in Murphysboro,
• 28:16
Speaker 4: North Carolina. The more you know, twenty four minutes away
• 28:21
Speaker 4: from ten Texas Day, lack of cops is the problem, Yeah,
• 28:27
  Speaker 4: it is.
• 28:27
  Speaker 2: It's a problem.
• 28:29
Speaker 4: Texts years ago the state put up science saying targeted
• 28:31
Speaker 4: enforcement area that turned out to be pretty much of
• 28:34
Speaker 4: an idle threat. Well again, people don't pay attention to
• 28:37
Speaker 4: science and it's it's an issue. I invite you to

• 31:40
Speaker 4: Copter also known as his vehicle. We've been talking about
• 31:43
Speaker 4: traffic and apparently there's some something going on near Tony
• 31:47
Speaker 4: the Taylor, near his near his business on Virginia streetings
• 31:51
Speaker 4: and there TJ said, it's down to one lane there
• 31:53
Speaker 4: are emergency vehicles in the area. We're checking on that,
• 31:56
Speaker 4: but we appreciate the traffic update there. For mister Meadows
• 31:59
Speaker 4: is the efforts his way to the studio text says,
• 32:02
Speaker 4: I'm sorry, but this constant, Oh you took my clothing
• 32:04
Speaker 4: vouchers away, you took my food stamps away as old
• 32:06
Speaker 4: and played out. Why shouldn't someone who works their tail

• 32:12

Speaker 4: Idea on the interstate traffic accident problems in Charleston lowered

• 32:43
Speaker 4: the text. It won't work because people are going to
• 32:45
Speaker 4: drive whatever however they want. You can I mean, you
• 32:49
Speaker 4: start busting. I mean, we all know those areas, we
• 32:51
Speaker 4: all travel in those areas that are called speed traps.
• 32:54
Speaker 2: You know what I mean.
• 32:54
Speaker 4: Avery, little town in West Virginia across America kind of
• 32:57
Speaker 4: gets that reputation and they make bank because people don't
• 33:00
  Speaker 4: pay attention.
• 33:01
  Speaker 2: To speed limits.
• 33:02
Speaker 4: I mean, as I said, I got my first speeding ticket,
• 33:05
Speaker 4: and all the years I've been driving a couple of
• 33:07
Speaker 4: years ago in Athens, Ohio, I knew. I knew I
• 33:11
Speaker 4: did not like Ohio University. With all due apologies to
• 33:14
Speaker 4: Amanda Baron, yet another reason for me to detest that area.
• 33:19
Speaker 4: I just got a text from my buddy, Tony the Taylor.
• 33:21
Speaker 4: He is on his way to the store and Ryan,
• 33:24
Speaker 4: he may have a report for us, just letting you
• 33:26
Speaker 4: know on what's going on on Virginia Street. Let's go
• 33:28
Speaker 4: out and check in with the West Coast operations of
• 33:31
Speaker 4: WVRC Media and bring in Danny Jones from Cali.
• 33:34
Speaker 2: Good morning, sir, how are you?
• 33:36
Speaker 9: I'm doing fine? How are you? David Man?
• 33:38
Speaker 2: You signed awful Cheerry this morning.
• 33:41
Speaker 9: I feel wonderful. I am. Have you ever you read
• 33:45
Speaker 9: in New York Times, don't you? I do, yes In
• 33:48
Speaker 9: the top right corner of the Internet page of court.
• 33:52
Speaker 9: So it's always a story about somebody that lives in
• 33:56
Speaker 9: New York cheap and there, and they're they're interesting. And
• 34:01
Speaker 9: they got one guy who lives there for thirty one
• 34:03
Speaker 9: thousand dollars a year and he's probably my age, you know,
• 34:08
Speaker 9: and got tattoos all over him, walks dogs for people.
• 34:12
  Speaker 9: It's just I don't it's just interesting. Second interesting thing,
• 34:17
Speaker 9: the Fever won last night, and I watched the entire game.
• 34:23
Speaker 9: And you know, Kaylin Clark and Sophie Cunninghan get all
• 34:27
Speaker 9: the attention, but there's a little player there named Kelsey Mitchell.
• 34:31
Speaker 9: She's five foot eight and she scored thirty points last night. Wow,
• 34:37
Speaker 9: five foot eight and Elijah Boston didn't even play. And
• 34:44
Speaker 9: God found I found a sport. I just love.
• 34:48
Speaker 2: What is it? What is it about it?
• 34:50
Speaker 4: I mean, because I know that I know you were
• 34:51
Speaker 4: a boxing guy. You and I've talked about boxing in
• 34:53
Speaker 4: the past, but I never knew you to be that
• 34:55
Speaker 4: big of a of a sports person, I mean kind
• 34:58
Speaker 4: of in passing. But what is it about the NBA
• 35:00
Speaker 4: that's got Danny all excited?
• 35:03
Speaker 9: Well, I like in my lifetime. I remember, I almost
• 35:09
Speaker 9: feel guilty about this because I remember when Nixon signed
• 35:14
Speaker 9: title nine and I thought, oh my God, they weren't
• 35:20
Speaker 9: going to have to have women's football teams and women's
• 35:22
Speaker 9: this and women's that. And I almost feel guilty about
• 35:26
Speaker 9: that because I was dead wrong. When I bought the
• 35:30
Speaker 9: number eight. Nineteen seventy four, there were nine hundred lawyers
• 35:34
Speaker 9: in Kannall Valley, there were six women. Now over half
• 35:38
Speaker 9: of them are women. Look at how many women judges
• 35:41
Speaker 9: we had. I think it's wonderful. It's been the biggest
• 35:44
Speaker 9: thing in my life is the progress of women. And
• 35:50
Speaker 9: watching these women play basketball. I mean they don't. They
• 35:54
Speaker 9: don't jump thirty feet in the air and then duckle ball.
• 35:57
Speaker 9: They can't. They play like norm more people. I love
• 36:01
  Speaker 9: watching them.
• 36:02
Speaker 4: Well, I know I heard on my drive end this
• 36:04
Speaker 4: morning that the fever. I think, didn't Kyla Clark have
• 36:06
Speaker 4: like thirty seven points last night?
• 36:07
  Speaker 2: I think it's what I.
• 36:08
Speaker 9: Heard seven, Kelsey Mitchell had thirty, Sophie had three. You know,
• 36:17
Speaker 9: Sophie's flashy. I love Sophie, we all do, and Caitlin
• 36:21
Speaker 9: and Clark, but there are other players on that team
• 36:25
Speaker 9: and once Kelsey Mitchell. The others are Leah Boston, who
• 36:28
Speaker 9: didn't play last night and she's six foot five and
• 36:32
Speaker 9: if she's in the paint, she's gonna score, She's gonna score.
• 36:38
Speaker 4: I'm presuming that where you're out in California. I'm presuming,
• 36:42
Speaker 4: because I don't follow it that closely. I'm presuming that
• 36:44
Speaker 4: you had a team or two out there, right WNBA team.
• 36:48
  Speaker 9: Oh, I don't even know. I don't.
• 36:51
Speaker 2: You're just a fan of the Indiana Fever. Is that
• 36:53
  Speaker 2: what you're saying?
• 36:55
Speaker 9: Probably? I mean, I'm not gonna watch any other teams.
• 36:59
Speaker 9: I watched whatever sem they're playing. That doesn't mean the
• 37:02
Speaker 9: other teams aren't good. The Fever got busted by New
• 37:05
Speaker 9: York two nights ago, and but last night it was
• 37:09
Speaker 9: fifty to fifty one at halftime, and then the Fever
• 37:14
Speaker 9: just opened up. The Fever used to work on their
• 37:16
Speaker 9: defense and quit. I mean, not everybody shoot three pointers. Okay,
• 37:25
Speaker 9: get in the paint and get the ball in the hoop.
• 37:29
Speaker 4: Basketball tips from Danny Jones. Is there anything that Danny
• 37:32
  Speaker 4: Jones can't do?
• 37:35
Speaker 9: It's not like watching it, and I encourage other people
• 37:38
Speaker 9: to watch it. Don't just watch Caitlin watch it, Leis,
• 37:42
Speaker 9: watch Kelsey, Mitell and Timpkins and Heinz Allen and all
• 37:46
Speaker 9: of them. They're all good.
• 37:47
Speaker 2: Do you think that there's too much attention placed on
• 37:50
  Speaker 2: Caitlin Clark?
• 37:53
Speaker 9: No, I mean, you know, how could you not pay
• 37:55
Speaker 9: attention to it? We all love her. I mean she's
• 37:58
Speaker 9: I mean, she scored thirty six having points. What she's
• 38:01
Speaker 9: done for basketball, for women's basketball is incomparable. I mean,
• 38:06
Speaker 9: it's incalculable. So I really really like her. But I
• 38:12
Speaker 9: just want people to know there's other players on that team,
• 38:16
Speaker 9: and players like this little Kelsey Mitchell. She's five foot eight.
• 38:22
Speaker 9: She reminds me of what's his name, Isaiah Thomas, you know,
• 38:27
Speaker 9: oh yeah, because he was only six foot one. And
• 38:33
Speaker 9: now Leah Boston six foot five. And see, she's quiet,
• 38:38
Speaker 9: but she used to be Katine carr protector until Sophie
• 38:42
Speaker 9: came along and she just get in between them. You know,
• 38:46
Speaker 9: you want to mess with me? Six foot five?
• 38:51
Speaker 4: Tex says, Hey, Dave, tell Danny, no one cares about
• 38:54
  Speaker 4: the WNBA.
• 38:56
Speaker 9: Okay, all right, that's fair enough.
• 39:00
Speaker 2: Somebody does, or are they?
• 39:01
Speaker 4: They wouldn't still be around because there's been similar leagues
• 39:04
Speaker 4: in the past that have come and gone, and the
• 39:06
Speaker 4: WNBA seems to be sticking around a little bit. Now,
• 39:08
Speaker 4: are they going to make the money and fill out
• 39:11
Speaker 4: the arenas that the NBA does know.
• 39:14
  Speaker 5: What.
• 39:15
Speaker 9: Let's talk about that first time.
• 39:16
Speaker 2: All right, go ahead, the.
• 39:18
Speaker 9: Indiana fever and when they played at home a game
• 39:22
Speaker 9: not too long ago, sold forty one thousand tickets. Okay,
• 39:27
Speaker 9: the Indiana Pacers sold forty thousand tickets.
• 39:31
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 39:32
Speaker 2: I stand corrected then.
• 39:34
Speaker 9: So and I'm looking because you know me, I might
• 39:38
Speaker 9: wind up going to again.
• 39:39
Speaker 2: Yeah, I have no doubt you will.
• 39:41
Speaker 9: But if I want to get up close, it's a
• 39:43
  Speaker 9: thousand dollars.
• 39:46
Speaker 2: I got a report on what was going on.
• 39:48
Speaker 4: I don't know if you heard it, to the beginning
• 39:49
Speaker 4: of the segmentary that we had an incidental forr Giniu Street,
• 39:52
Speaker 4: that there was a elevator fire. There was a smoke
• 39:56
Speaker 4: smell from an old belt in the building there. This
• 39:58
Speaker 4: is according to Tony. The Taylor tail me that it's
• 40:00
Speaker 4: all clear now. So that was what TJ saw eye
• 40:03
Speaker 4: witnessed TJ meadows when he was driving down.
• 40:05
  Speaker 9: It wasn't in Tony's building. It wasn't in Tony's building,
• 40:08
  Speaker 9: was it?
• 40:09
Speaker 2: Well, the text says elevator had smoke smell. Uh said
• 40:13
  Speaker 2: the Yeah, I don't know it wasn't.
• 40:15
Speaker 4: It wasn't in Tony's building, No, city It was actually
• 40:18
Speaker 4: the City National Building. TJ tells me, okay, actually the
• 40:20
Speaker 4: City National Building, not Tony's.
• 40:23
  Speaker 9: Oh that's a j walk. Okay, all right, well I'm
• 40:28
Speaker 9: go ahead. It wasn't in Tony's building because he's got
• 40:30
Speaker 9: a small business and you know, well, you.
• 40:34
Speaker 4: Know, Tony being Tony, he's now serving. He's now selling
• 40:37
Speaker 4: Marshall gear, which he hasn't before, and he he had
• 40:40
Speaker 4: to put this in there that the Marshall logo gear
• 40:41
Speaker 4: is so hot that it set the bank on fire
• 40:43
  Speaker 4: across the street.
• 40:46
Speaker 9: So I glad to hear that I went to Marshall.
• 40:49
  Speaker 9: That's great.
• 40:49
Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah, well for years people have asked him to
• 40:52
Speaker 4: sell it, and so he's got he's got Marshall and
• 40:54
Speaker 4: WU stuff down there. Now Tony the Taylor, all right,
• 40:57
  Speaker 4: so go ahead.
• 40:59
Speaker 9: He does well with it, yeah you and I don't know.
• 41:01
Speaker 2: Did you get to listen to the first part of
• 41:03
  Speaker 2: the show.
• 41:03
Speaker 4: I had Delegate Dana Farrell on and we were talking
• 41:06
Speaker 4: about the issues with traffic and the issues that we've
• 41:09
Speaker 4: had here as of late. You know, there's been three,
• 41:11
Speaker 4: four or five incidents within the last week or so. Well,
• 41:15
Speaker 4: there's an accident in the morning hours on Wednesday, and
• 41:19
Speaker 4: then tragically four people were killed Friday night when their
• 41:24
Speaker 4: car went over at the sixty four to seventy seven
• 41:26
Speaker 4: splint and went over the interstate and landed below. And
• 41:31
Speaker 4: I mean, what do you think the issue? And again
• 41:34
Speaker 4: I'm not speculating on these particular cases. There seems to
• 41:36
Speaker 4: be more accidents, like people just distracted. I mean, you
• 41:39
Speaker 4: drive on the busiest highways in America out in California
• 41:43
Speaker 4: on a regular basis, which is where you are.
• 41:44
Speaker 2: Now, what's the issue here.
• 41:46
  Speaker 9: Danny, I don't know. We don't. I don't see a
• 41:50
Speaker 9: lot of that out on the four h five. I
• 41:52
Speaker 9: don't see a lot of accidents. And people drive if
• 41:55
Speaker 9: you drive seventy miles an hour on the four h five,
• 41:58
Speaker 9: but you're standing still, yeah, yes, and I don't see.
• 42:02
Speaker 9: I don't see. And I go down Scisco Sighway and
• 42:06
  Speaker 9: I don't see a lot of accidents. I heard somebody
• 42:10
Speaker 9: say that we all lower the speed limit. We did
• 42:15
Speaker 9: a president named Carter. It didn't go too well. People
• 42:21
Speaker 9: are going to drive how they want to drive. And
• 42:23
Speaker 9: you know, you driving across the country if you go
• 42:25
Speaker 9: through Oklahoma, they got speed limits signs that say eighty right, eighties.
• 42:32
Speaker 4: Well, I'm a big believer in that there should be
• 42:34
Speaker 4: a speed minimum in certain situations.
• 42:37
Speaker 9: And another there are David's forty miles in our speed
• 42:40
Speaker 9: limits minimums, you know, But.
• 42:43
Speaker 2: I mean you don't see those enforced.
• 42:45
Speaker 4: I mean you don't see the signs that to say
• 42:47
Speaker 4: here's this, hey, look you got to adjust, and here's
• 42:49
Speaker 4: this is what any law enforcement officer will tell you.
• 42:53
Speaker 2: Seventy on I sixty four is.
• 42:55
Speaker 4: When we have a day like today, when it's sunny
• 42:57
Speaker 4: and in the mid to upper seventies or eighty, that's optimal.
• 43:00
Speaker 4: Obviously you need to slow down if we if if
• 43:04
Speaker 4: it's raining or if it's snowing. There are more accidents
• 43:06
Speaker 4: in the rain than there are in snow because people
• 43:08
Speaker 4: just don't think about it. They can see the snow
• 43:10
Speaker 4: and ice, they just don't think about the rain. I
• 43:12
Speaker 4: don't think as much. But yeah, I'm a big believer
• 43:15
Speaker 4: in speed in speed minimums.
• 43:17
  Speaker 2: I really am.
• 43:18
Speaker 9: Hey did were these accidents at night?
• 43:23
Speaker 4: One was in the attractor trailer incident was Wednesday morning.
• 43:28
Speaker 4: The other accident was around It was ten fifty two
• 43:31
  Speaker 4: on Friday night.
• 43:33
Speaker 9: Ten fifty two. Yeah, did they run a blood test?
• 43:38
Speaker 4: Well, they were all killed, Danny, So I don't We're
• 43:42
Speaker 4: not going to speculate on that.
• 43:43
Speaker 2: I don't want to get into otten.
• 43:44
Speaker 9: But I didn't know about it, and I'm sorry.
• 43:47
Speaker 4: Yeah, all right, no problem, okay.
• 43:51
  Speaker 2: Checks.
• 43:54
Speaker 4: Somebody asked me if I was going to walk the
• 43:55
Speaker 4: check for the Children's hospital up to Morgantown like Rob
• 43:58
Speaker 4: Reel that you know.
• 44:00
Speaker 2: I will not be walking to Morgantown. Hey, Danny, I
• 44:02
Speaker 2: gotta take a break. Can you hang on to the break?

Speaker 13: Hey, this is Bobby Spraut and last year we purchased

Speaker 13: a new HVAC system for Best Virginia Heating and Coaling.
• 44:58
Speaker 13: During the inspection of our old unit, their technician discovered
• 45:01
Speaker 13: a crack in the heat exchanger that was slowly leaking
• 45:04
Speaker 13: carbon monoxide into our home. From that moment on, we
• 45:07
Speaker 13: knew we chose the best, the best technicians and the
• 45:10
Speaker 13: best service. Every technician is drug tested and background checked,

• 45:46
Speaker 4: you don't know can hurt you. Danny Jones, with that
• 45:49
Speaker 4: little little research and a texture actually sent me the
• 45:52
Speaker 4: information as well. California has two WNBA teams, Danny, the
• 45:56
Speaker 4: Los Angeles Sparks they play at the Crypto dot Com
• 45:59
Speaker 4: Arena in l and the Golden State Valkyries they play
• 46:02
Speaker 4: at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
• 46:05
Speaker 2: So there you go.
• 46:07
Speaker 9: I knew about the Sparks, I didn't know about the
• 46:11
  Speaker 9: other team.
• 46:11
Speaker 2: You should go to the game.
• 46:13
Speaker 9: Well maybe that Maybe ILL will, Maybe I will.
• 46:16
Speaker 2: You should. What else is on your mind, mister Jones.
• 46:20
Speaker 9: Well, there's an there's an opinion piece in the Wall
• 46:25
Speaker 9: Street Journal about really blasting Trump. It's a lead editorial
• 46:32
Speaker 9: about fighting with Canada over over these terraces. And then
• 46:41
Speaker 9: there's gas prices out here. It's down a dollar from
• 46:45
Speaker 9: the last time I was here, And which is a
• 46:49
Speaker 9: good good news, good trend to good trend to go
• 46:53
Speaker 9: in and uh and leads to hope. The mid terms
• 46:59
Speaker 9: are not looking good for the Republicans, And I don't
• 47:02
Speaker 9: say that with any glee or joy. I thought that
• 47:07
Speaker 9: if we could save Collins up in Maine, Susan Collins,
• 47:14
Speaker 9: we could, you know, the Republicans could keep the Senate.
• 47:17
Speaker 9: But now I don't know. I mean, Calla Rica is ahead,
• 47:21
Speaker 9: down and down in Texas, and I think that Michigan
• 47:31
Speaker 9: has the best Republican senator that they've ever had, Mike Rogers.
• 47:37
Speaker 9: And as I said, I've said this on your show
• 47:40
Speaker 9: before the the DSA candidates. He says he's not, but
• 47:44
Speaker 9: he is. He will run against Trump, Mike, Mike Rodgers
• 47:48
Speaker 9: will run against him, and he'll run against Trump and
• 47:50
Speaker 9: he'll probably win. Did you not hate that?
• 47:53
Speaker 4: Did you see the interview with the Texas Governor Abbott
• 47:56
Speaker 4: on This Morning yesterday on ABC or on Georgeta Monopolis
• 48:00
Speaker 4: the show of yesterday?
• 48:01
Speaker 9: I sure did, I sure did.
• 48:03
  Speaker 5: Well.
• 48:04
Speaker 4: I'm not going to give my opinion of it. I'm
• 48:05
Speaker 4: gonna let you give your opinion. What was your opinion
• 48:07
  Speaker 4: of that interview?
• 48:08
  Speaker 9: I like him, I mean I've always liked him. He's
• 48:12
Speaker 9: got a compelling personal story and uh he had to
• 48:16
  Speaker 9: do some dancing.
• 48:19
Speaker 4: When did we get to the place, though, Danny, and
• 48:21
Speaker 4: this is you know this is on both sides. When
• 48:25
Speaker 4: did we get to the place or maybe it's always
• 48:26
Speaker 4: been this way and I just noticed it where political
• 48:29
Speaker 4: figures refuse to answer questions without doing what about ism?
• 48:32
Speaker 4: I mean they they no matter what they ask him
• 48:36
Speaker 4: about UH, about about the race of tall Rico. They
• 48:41
Speaker 4: asked him about that, and he turns it around to
• 48:44
Speaker 4: talk about Joe Biden. They asked him about issues with Trump.
• 48:48
Speaker 4: Do you think that? You know, how do you think
• 48:49
Speaker 4: the president is doing with the war in Iran? And
• 48:51
Speaker 4: somehow he turned it completely around against UH and start
• 48:56
Speaker 4: talking about Joe Biden and that And look, that's a
• 48:59
Speaker 4: problem on the ends. Just when did we get to
• 49:01
Speaker 4: that position? I mean, you were mayor if somebody were
• 49:04
Speaker 4: to have asked you about an issue, would you have
• 49:07
Speaker 4: turned it on the previous Marriorga, Well, you know, I'm
• 49:09
Speaker 4: still so and so on the on the.
• 49:10
Speaker 9: Are you kidding me? Are you kidding me? I got
• 49:14
  Speaker 9: I was in your face. I don't say anything. I'll
• 49:19
Speaker 9: answer that with a question. Okay, what was he what
• 49:22
Speaker 9: was he supposed to do?
• 49:24
  Speaker 5: Well?
• 49:24
  Speaker 2: I mean I don't know.
• 49:25
Speaker 4: I got this wild idea that maybe people should actually
• 49:28
Speaker 4: answer questions that they're asked, I.
• 49:29
Speaker 9: Do too, and I think cable news has changed all that.
• 49:32
Speaker 9: And the answer to that question, by the way, is
• 49:35
Speaker 9: why didn't they renominate John Cornyn instead of this degenerate
• 49:40
Speaker 9: Ken Factson. And he is a degenerate.
• 49:45
Speaker 2: What makes him a degenerate?
• 49:47
  Speaker 9: Oh, he's a criminal, he's a he's been indicted twice.
• 49:52
Speaker 9: He was in peace. He had an open relationship. His
• 49:59
Speaker 9: why it's a state senator and he had an open girl.
• 50:02
  Speaker 9: I don't There's nothing about this guy I like. And
• 50:07
Speaker 9: Talarico is just as bad on the other side. But
• 50:11
Speaker 9: if tall Rica wins, the Republicans had better learn a
• 50:15
Speaker 9: good lesson about this, you know, I mean really, because
• 50:21
Speaker 9: it's not going to be fun for mister Trump. I'll
• 50:24
Speaker 9: say one, I'll say something about President Trump. But this
• 50:30
Speaker 9: ballroom needs building. Nixon built a bowling alley, and he's that.
• 50:36
Speaker 9: You know the press room that they have now where
• 50:39
Speaker 9: they go the press goes and they have the press
• 50:41
Speaker 9: meetings and all that that used to be a swimming pool.
• 50:46
Speaker 9: My question is did Nixon go to congress when he
• 50:49
Speaker 9: changed those because he that Nixon changed him to go
• 50:53
Speaker 9: to a press congress. You have used to go up
• 50:55
Speaker 9: three flights of stairs up in the Ivanharer Building and
• 51:00
Speaker 9: go up in a big room the old Executive Office building.
• 51:03
Speaker 9: And Nixon. Nixon did that, and then he liked the
• 51:06
Speaker 9: bowl fill the building to have a bowling alley. And
• 51:09
Speaker 9: my question is did he go to the Congress. Now,
• 51:12
Speaker 9: supposedly this ballroom is being built with private money. And
• 51:17
Speaker 9: I'm telling you something. Once it's done, nobody's gonna want
• 51:21
Speaker 9: to say they were against it.
• 51:22
Speaker 2: All right, Danny, we got to leave it there. When
• 51:24
Speaker 2: you coming back to West Virginia, when do I get
• 51:25
Speaker 2: to see you again?
• 51:27
Speaker 9: I'll be on with you next. I'm leaving next Monday,
• 51:30
Speaker 9: but I'll be on the phone on Monday morning and
• 51:33
Speaker 9: then I'll I'm coming back on Monday at noon.
