- 0:01Speaker 1: You're listening to Hawk Talk with former Seahawks wide receiver
- 0:05Speaker 1: Michael Bumpus after ten yard line. Second to day three
- 0:08Speaker 1: wide receivers. Now in motion is Puppas left to right,
- 0:12Speaker 1: Julius Jones, a single setback Matt Pumpfecks looking at the
- 0:14Speaker 1: goal line, he throws it into the end zone. Touchdown.
- 0:17Speaker 1: Say Hawks, it's Michael Bumpas with a diving catching the
- 0:21Speaker 1: end zone our ten yard touchdown reception for Puppas, and
- 0:25Speaker 1: the kid out of Washington State has found himself a
- 0:29Speaker 1: place on this team. Powered by Seahawks dot Com. It
- 0:33Speaker 1: is Week fifteen and you're listening to a Hawk Talk
- 0:36Speaker 1: preview edition. The Seahawks go down to La to take
- 0:38Speaker 1: on the Rams, trying to win three in a row.
- 0:41Speaker 1: Before we get into it, is bringing Nasty Choby with
- 0:43Speaker 1: the injury updates. Thanks bump Well. First and foremost, I
- 0:45Speaker 1: want to update you on the injury we saw to
- 0:47Speaker 1: Gavin Heslop. He sustained the nasty injury last week against
- 0:50Speaker 1: the Houston Texans, breaking both his tibia and fibula. Underwent
- 0:54Speaker 1: successful surgery, and was flown back to Seattle today by
- 0:56Speaker 1: Jody Allen on a private jet so definitely wishing him
- 0:59Speaker 1: a speed and fast recovery. Also, amidst all the COVID
- 1:02Speaker 1: outbreaks all over the league, the Seahawks had no positive
- 1:05Speaker 1: tests this week, thanks to the hard work behind the
- 1:07Speaker 1: scenes from testing multiple times a week, which is beyond
- 1:10Speaker 1: the league requirement, and a great job by the players
- 1:12Speaker 1: and staff on the field. Head coach Pete Carroll gave
- 1:14Speaker 1: some injury updates on Travis Homer, Adrian Peterson, and Brandon Chell.
- 1:18Speaker 1: Travis Homers, it still looked like he's got a good
- 1:20Speaker 1: chance to get back. Yeah, you look great to the
- 1:22Speaker 1: first first look this morning. So um, he just got
- 1:25Speaker 1: stacked to days. But he was. He was back in action,
- 1:28Speaker 1: running around. He was showing off a little bit, so
- 1:29Speaker 1: that's a good sign a pact. He was running au
- 1:34Speaker 1: little bit today. He's he looks like he's got a chance.
- 1:36Speaker 1: I don't I don't know. We're gonna walk through. You know.
- 1:38Speaker 1: We went through walk through and he took a few snaps.
- 1:40Speaker 1: That's talking to tell you, Brandon Chell, he went to
- 1:44Speaker 1: walk through today. We gotta wait and see. We won't
- 1:46Speaker 1: know for a couple of days. Um, because we got
- 1:48Speaker 1: to protect him because his shoulder has been really sore.
- 1:50Speaker 1: So he's got the heart of the line. He wants
- 1:52Speaker 1: to go, you know, but we got to make sure
- 1:53Speaker 1: that he's okay and he can stay out there because
- 1:55Speaker 1: the last two games he wasn't able to finish. So
- 1:57Speaker 1: that's we're more concerned about that. Maybe at this point
- 1:59Speaker 1: not my direct our thinking a little bit, but we'll see.
- 2:02Speaker 1: All right. That's all I got for the injury updates
- 2:04Speaker 1: for the Los Angeles Rams and the Seahawks. Now it's
- 2:06Speaker 1: time to get into the Seahawks Week fifteen opponent, the
- 2:09Speaker 1: Los Angeles Rams. What's on tap? What's on tap? These
- 2:16Speaker 1: Rams are nine and four on the season. They started
- 2:19Speaker 1: off kind of an interesting way. They started seven and
- 2:21Speaker 1: one pretty impressive with wins over the Bears, the Colts,
- 2:24Speaker 1: the Bucks, the Seahawks, the Giants, the Lions, and the Texans,
- 2:28Speaker 1: with the only lost the Arizona Cardinals. Then they kind
- 2:30Speaker 1: of hit the skids a little bit with a three
- 2:32Speaker 1: game losing streak to the Tennessee Titans, who were without
- 2:34Speaker 1: Derrick Henry. Then they got drugged by the forty nine
- 2:37Speaker 1: Ers thirty one ten. Then they lost a tough game
- 2:39Speaker 1: on the road to the Packers. But since then they've
- 2:41Speaker 1: kind of rided the ship, blowing out the Jacksonville Jaguars
- 2:44Speaker 1: thirty seven to seven, and then last Monday night taken
- 2:47Speaker 1: down the Arizona Cardinals. That was a hell of a
- 2:50Speaker 1: game between two of the best teams in the NFC
- 2:52Speaker 1: and definitely the NFC West. And you know the game,
- 2:56Speaker 1: it felt like it was a close game. Back and forth.
- 2:58Speaker 1: It was really entertaining watch, but it always felt like
- 3:01Speaker 1: the Rams were in control. Aaron Donald, man, boy, We're
- 3:04Speaker 1: gonna talk about this man made his presence felt from
- 3:06Speaker 1: the opening snap, just absolutely runs over the guard Zacks
- 3:10Speaker 1: Calamari really didn't even sack him. He just threw the
- 3:12Speaker 1: guard into him and Colin Murray just fell down. I mean,
- 3:14Speaker 1: Aaron Donald is an absolute savage. He ended the game
- 3:17Speaker 1: with three sacks TFLs and stop me if you've heard
- 3:21Speaker 1: that storyline before. Aaron Donald is a menace. The game
- 3:25Speaker 1: was thirteen thirteen at the half. The Rams took advantage
- 3:28Speaker 1: of a big third quarter, though, with two touchdown passes
- 3:30Speaker 1: from Matthew Stafford, taking a twenty seven thirteen lead into
- 3:33Speaker 1: the fourth quarter. Cardinals got to within seven points with
- 3:36Speaker 1: an amazing touchdown run by James Conner running people over,
- 3:39Speaker 1: blowing his way into the end zone. The Rams would
- 3:41Speaker 1: respond with a ten place sixty yard field goal drive
- 3:44Speaker 1: to extend their lead to ten. Cardinals to kick a
- 3:47Speaker 1: field goal in the next drive, then recover a crazy
- 3:49Speaker 1: on site kick at the ball back down seven with
- 3:51Speaker 1: thirty four seconds left. And we've seen this last year
- 3:54Speaker 1: they had the Hail Mary against Buffalo. Anything can happen
- 3:56Speaker 1: with Cala Murray unfortunately had a big run for them
- 3:59Speaker 1: on the play, holding penalty was called. It came back.
- 4:02Speaker 1: Then Aaron Donald finished the game just how we started
- 4:05Speaker 1: it with a sack of Kylin Murray wrapped up the game.
- 4:09Speaker 1: Stafford had a decent day, going twenty three to thirty
- 4:11Speaker 1: for two hundred and eighty seven and three touchdowns. Coober Cup,
- 4:14Speaker 1: I mean, every single week, just lock it in. He's
- 4:17Speaker 1: gonna ball out. Thirteen receptions, one hundred twenty three yards,
- 4:20Speaker 1: one touchdown and that touchdowney Cott was an amazing grab
- 4:24Speaker 1: from Stafford. Great throw, but his thirteen receptions were one
- 4:27Speaker 1: short of the Monday Night football record held by Jerry Rith,
- 4:30Speaker 1: So he's an impressive company. O Beckham Junior productive day
- 4:33Speaker 1: six receptions, seventy seven yards one Tuddy Van Jefferson a
- 4:37Speaker 1: two yard touchdown. Colin Murray had put up a lot
- 4:39Speaker 1: of yards like he normally does, four hundred and forty
- 4:41Speaker 1: four total, most he's ever had in a game, but
- 4:44Speaker 1: he did not have a passing touchdown or rushing touchdown.
- 4:46Speaker 1: Turned the ball over and that's the most total yards
- 4:49Speaker 1: in a game about touchdown since Matthew Stafford in twenty twelve.
- 4:54Speaker 1: The Rams also beat the Cardinals about Jalen Ramsey and
- 4:57Speaker 1: Tyler Higbee, who sat out because of COVID protocols, and
- 5:00Speaker 1: if you've been paying attention to anything in the NFL
- 5:02Speaker 1: right now, though, Rams are hurting with about thirteen guys
- 5:05Speaker 1: on the COVID list right now, including ob j and
- 5:08Speaker 1: some of their starting safety so it will be interesting
- 5:11Speaker 1: now how they match up. But Bomba's getting his head
- 5:14Speaker 1: to head man. The Seahawks are obviously five and eighth.
- 5:16Speaker 1: Rams are nine and four. We've seen this matchup one
- 5:18Speaker 1: time before. How do these guys match up on paper?
- 5:21Speaker 1: I just tid to run it back between these two.
- 5:23Speaker 1: You look at the offenses, you already know Sean McVay
- 5:26Speaker 1: has this offense go on their rings. Seventh overall twenty
- 5:28Speaker 1: fourth when it comes to rushing the ball, but number
- 5:31Speaker 1: three when it comes to passing it and averaging twenty
- 5:34Speaker 1: eight points per game. That puts him at fourth the
- 5:36Speaker 1: seall golfers. They're moving up slowly, but surely they're twenty
- 5:39Speaker 1: eighth rand offense, twenty second with the run, twenty fourth
- 5:41Speaker 1: with the past, twenty first when it comes to points.
- 5:43Speaker 1: Switch over to defense. This Rams defense is decent. A
- 5:47Speaker 1: lot of stars on this defense on the ring fifteenth overall,
- 5:50Speaker 1: seventh against the rush, twentieth against the past, and seventeenth
- 5:53Speaker 1: giving up twenty two points per game. And look at
- 5:55Speaker 1: the offense. Hawks still dead last when it comes to
- 5:58Speaker 1: offense overall, excuse me defense overall defense to ring thirty second,
- 6:01Speaker 1: twenty second against the run, thirty second against the past,
- 6:04Speaker 1: but fifth when it comes to points allowed. That's where
- 6:06Speaker 1: they make their money. They don't allow people to light
- 6:08Speaker 1: up the scoreboard. I hope they do that this weekend.
- 6:10Speaker 1: Seven interceptions for the Seahawks and fourt team for the Rams.
- 6:14Speaker 1: When it comes to sacks, Rams are top five in
- 6:16Speaker 1: the league getting after the quarterback. They have thirty six
- 6:20Speaker 1: sacks to the Hawks twenty one. On paper, Rams look
- 6:24Speaker 1: like the better team throughout the year. They've been the
- 6:27Speaker 1: better team. But the Hawks have been playing from good
- 6:29Speaker 1: football and these guys have linked up a bunch of times.
- 6:32Speaker 1: So let's learn about the history. No, your history, You're
- 6:37Speaker 1: exactly right, Michael Bumps. A series record between the Seahawks
- 6:40Speaker 1: and the Rams is twenty five to twenty one, led
- 6:43Speaker 1: by the Seahawks. However, Pete Carroll has struggled. Sin Sean
- 6:46Speaker 1: McVeigh has been in LA with a three and seven
- 6:49Speaker 1: record since he arrived. Three and six overall in the
- 6:51Speaker 1: regular season last year, the Seahawks ended the season by
- 6:54Speaker 1: beating the Rams to clinch the NCUS title. As you know,
- 6:57Speaker 1: then the Rams will get the revenge in the first
- 6:59Speaker 1: round of the playoffs. However, their last meeting was earlier
- 7:02Speaker 1: in Week five of this year, and the Seahawks came
- 7:06Speaker 1: into the game two and two. Russell Wilson, everybody was
- 7:08Speaker 1: healthy and the Rams. We knew they had a great
- 7:10Speaker 1: offense coming into that game, but the defense really stepped up.
- 7:13Speaker 1: They had been struggling. The high powered Rams offense went punt, punt, interception, punt,
- 7:18Speaker 1: field goal and a half. Seahawks lead seven three a
- 7:21Speaker 1: halftime We're feeling good and finished the halftime show. Everything's
- 7:24Speaker 1: going great, and then things went south, and they went
- 7:27Speaker 1: south in a big way. The Rams offense is exploded.
- 7:31Speaker 1: In that third quarter. They had an eight play ninety
- 7:33Speaker 1: six yard drive. They converted a sixty eight yard pass
- 7:37Speaker 1: on third and ten of the Shawn Jackson. On the
- 7:39Speaker 1: next drive the Seahawks, Russell Wilson missed Tyler Lockett down
- 7:42Speaker 1: the sideline, which would have been a long touchdown. But
- 7:45Speaker 1: things really changed for the Seahawks and the remainder of
- 7:47Speaker 1: the year that on that play because Russell Wilson injured
- 7:50Speaker 1: his finger on Aaron Donald's helmet which affected that throw.
- 7:53Speaker 1: It broke that finger, and obviously that was a huge
- 7:56Speaker 1: storyline throughout the season because Russell Wilson would mixed the
- 7:58Speaker 1: next three games after that moment, the Seahawks punted, the
- 8:02Speaker 1: Rams came back again with a five play eighty two
- 8:04Speaker 1: year drive with a Higbee touchdown. On that drive, the
- 8:07Speaker 1: Rams had three consecutive explosive plays. We'll talk about that
- 8:10Speaker 1: later on. That's when we entered in Geno Smith. Geno
- 8:13Speaker 1: Smith had ancredible ten play ninety eight yard drive backed
- 8:17Speaker 1: up on his two yard line lead the Seahawks down
- 8:19Speaker 1: to score. Everyone's feeling good. HiT's dk I'm twenty three
- 8:21Speaker 1: yard touchdown that made to score sixteen fourteen. But then
- 8:25Speaker 1: the Rams came at us again six play seventy three
- 8:27Speaker 1: yard touchdown drive any with the showy Michelle run. The
- 8:31Speaker 1: Seahawks would then answer with a field goal enforce a
- 8:33Speaker 1: punt by the Rams, but unfortunately, on the next possession,
- 8:36Speaker 1: Gino Smith was intercepted on his first pass to Tyler Lockett.
- 8:39Speaker 1: Might have been PI, might not have been. Unfortunately, that
- 8:42Speaker 1: effectively ended the ball game. But I'm hoping the Seahawks
- 8:45Speaker 1: are gonna play or the Rams are gonna face a
- 8:47Speaker 1: much improved Seahawks defense who's banged up in other ways,
- 8:50Speaker 1: but they're playing a lot better football, so it'll be
- 8:53Speaker 1: an interesting matchup. Hopefully the Seahawks will get the better
- 8:55Speaker 1: room this time around. But now let's take a look
- 8:58Speaker 1: around the division. What's the word and the Seahawks or
- 9:05Speaker 1: the NFC West champs again? What's the word? In the
- 9:09Speaker 1: west On Hawk talk? What's the word? The Errand's on
- 9:14Speaker 1: the Cardinals sick and l this weekend, but they still
- 9:17Speaker 1: are at top of the division at ten and three.
- 9:19Speaker 1: Right behind them the Los Angeles Rams or nine and four.
- 9:22Speaker 1: San Francisco forty nine Ers or seven and six in
- 9:25Speaker 1: the Hawks are fighting at five and a. Last week,
- 9:29Speaker 1: the forty nine Ers took on the Bengals and it
- 9:31Speaker 1: was a great game. Man. They held off to beat
- 9:33Speaker 1: them twenty six to thirty to twenty three in overtime.
- 9:36Speaker 1: The night has jumped out to a twenty to six
- 9:38Speaker 1: league midway through the third quarter, but a lot of
- 9:41Speaker 1: it was because of the self inflicting wounds the Bengals
- 9:44Speaker 1: had on themselves. Darius Phillis fumbled twice on punts. Man,
- 9:48Speaker 1: I feel for your brother. I was a pup returning
- 9:50Speaker 1: myself fumble twice had hurts. But the Bengals responded in
- 9:53Speaker 1: the fourth quarter with Jamar Chase doing what he does
- 9:56Speaker 1: catching testdowns from burrows. The forty nine Ers. They respond.
- 10:00Speaker 1: It went on a ten play fifty yard drive. But
- 10:02Speaker 1: Robbie Gold had a chance to win the game and
- 10:05Speaker 1: that win and looked like it was good. Then all
- 10:07Speaker 1: of a sudden, that win took it to the right.
- 10:09Speaker 1: The Bengals are celebrating. You go on overtime. The Bengals
- 10:13Speaker 1: get the ball on overtime they kick a field goal
- 10:15Speaker 1: that was not going to be good enough. The forty
- 10:17Speaker 1: nine is going to seven play seventy five yard dropped,
- 10:20Speaker 1: ending with a game winning touchdown by Brandon Iyuk. If
- 10:23Speaker 1: you saw this play, this was a beautiful display of athleticism,
- 10:27Speaker 1: like even in real time. He tippedoed down the sideline,
- 10:30Speaker 1: he jumps, he sixs the ball towards the pylone. I
- 10:32Speaker 1: thought he was out. Then he goes to the replay
- 10:34Speaker 1: and his body control was ridiculous. He slides inside boom
- 10:38Speaker 1: wins the game for him. Jimmy ge doing what he
- 10:40Speaker 1: does twenty seven to forty one, two ninety six, two touchdowns,
- 10:43Speaker 1: zero interceptions. Mister George Kittle in my household, we call
- 10:47Speaker 1: him Horhey. Kittle did his stame thirteen receptions, one hundred
- 10:51Speaker 1: and fifty one yards, one touchdown. This dude, he's the
- 10:54Speaker 1: best tightening in the game. I don't even think it's
- 10:56Speaker 1: a question though, Mark Travis Kelsey, big love for you.
- 10:58Speaker 1: But George Kittle doing his name at the forty nine ers.
- 11:00Speaker 1: This is where they did their thing. They sagged Joe
- 11:02Speaker 1: Burrow five times, including two from Nick Bolsa, bringing this
- 11:06Speaker 1: sold fourteen sacks this year. Niners just keep finding ways
- 11:11Speaker 1: to get her done. Yeah. I was really hoping the
- 11:13Speaker 1: Bengals would do the Seahawks a solid to muddle everything
- 11:16Speaker 1: up in the lol card picture. But at this point,
- 11:18Speaker 1: the Seahawks do have the tiebreaker over the forty nine Ers,
- 11:21Speaker 1: one of the few teams they do have that. So
- 11:23Speaker 1: a lot of games left, we'll see what happens with
- 11:25Speaker 1: those guys. But that brings me the current playoffs standings.
- 11:28Speaker 1: So it's simple. You know, we've been talking about this
- 11:31Speaker 1: for a long time. Pretty much all season, We've been
- 11:32Speaker 1: on record saying this, we think of nine and eight
- 11:34Speaker 1: team is gonna make the playoffs. That could still be
- 11:36Speaker 1: the Seahawks. I would require them to win out and
- 11:39Speaker 1: if they're gonna have a shot at any of that,
- 11:41Speaker 1: they got to take care of the Rams on Sunday.
- 11:43Speaker 1: But just taking a look that the Washington football team
- 11:46Speaker 1: is holding down the seventh wildcard spot at six and seven,
- 11:49Speaker 1: then you ye at the Viking six and seven, who
- 11:51Speaker 1: playing the Bears on Monday Night. You got the Eagles
- 11:53Speaker 1: six and seven playing Washington. You got the Falcon six
- 11:56Speaker 1: and seven playing the forty nine Ers. You got the
- 11:58Speaker 1: same six and seven playing tam the Panthers five and
- 12:01Speaker 1: eight vers. Buffalo, and then your Seahawks at five and
- 12:03Speaker 1: eight as well. So the Seahawks are just down. They're
- 12:06Speaker 1: out of the win the lost column one game. Obviously,
- 12:09Speaker 1: watching football team at the moment has the tiebreak because
- 12:11Speaker 1: it beat Seattle. But it's it's it's within grasp, it's
- 12:15Speaker 1: it's there. They just got to win a game on Sunday.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But the crazy thing about the league is it's unpresidented.
- 12:21Speaker 1: The kind of parody we're seeing right now. The NFL
- 12:23Speaker 1: playoff picture has twenty six teams who are currently either
- 12:27Speaker 1: in the playoffs or within a game of a playoff spot.
- 12:29Speaker 1: There's also twenty four teams with at least six wins,
- 12:32Speaker 1: the most through week fourteen. And another crazy sat right
- 12:35Speaker 1: here is after the Rams win, every team in the
- 12:38Speaker 1: NFL has at least three losses through Week fourteen for
- 12:41Speaker 1: the first time since twenty fourteen, and zero teams zero
- 12:44Speaker 1: of clinch a playoffs spot with four weeks left for
- 12:47Speaker 1: the first time since twenty seventeen. So bump, everyone's got
- 12:51Speaker 1: a chance. This is this is what makes the NFL
- 12:53Speaker 1: one of the greatest games in the world is because
- 12:55Speaker 1: of parody and because people got a shot. I was
- 12:57Speaker 1: kind of against the additional wild until the Seahawks needed it,
- 13:01Speaker 1: So I'm all for the seventh All four. But let's
- 13:05Speaker 1: get back to these Rams. Take a look at these matchups.
- 13:07Speaker 1: Man up is thisss man up on Hawk Talk. Let's
- 13:20Speaker 1: man up. Look at these matchups. You gotta talk about
- 13:23Speaker 1: Matthew Stafford. He was the guy brought over to the
- 13:25Speaker 1: Rams to save the day, and he's been doing well
- 13:27Speaker 1: so far this year three hundred and fifteen from four
- 13:29Speaker 1: to sixty eight, three eight hundred and ninety eight yards,
- 13:32Speaker 1: thirty three touchdowns to nine interceptions. He's only been stacked
- 13:36Speaker 1: twenty times this season. You look at the Seahawks. Their
- 13:39Speaker 1: quarterbacks have been sacked thirty nine times now. He's bounced
- 13:42Speaker 1: back well since the three game losing streak where he
- 13:45Speaker 1: had five interceptions and two of them return for touchdowns.
- 13:48Speaker 1: When they face the Hawks earlier this year, he had
- 13:51Speaker 1: a pretty good day twenty five or thirty seven, three
- 13:53Speaker 1: sixty five, one touchdown and one interception. This is wild.
- 13:56Speaker 1: Last Monday was Matthew staffords first ever win against a
- 13:59Speaker 1: team with eight plus victories at the time of the game.
- 14:01Speaker 1: He's previously owen twenty in those games. Matthew Stafford also
- 14:06Speaker 1: collected his first win against an opponent who entered it
- 14:08Speaker 1: at least five games above five hundred. He's owing seventeen
- 14:13Speaker 1: entry Monday. It was the worst by any quarterback in
- 14:16Speaker 1: the Super Bowl era. That is wild to me. This
- 14:18Speaker 1: dude's won a lot of games. We know he's been
- 14:20Speaker 1: in Detroit where they haven't one playoff games. He hasn't
- 14:24Speaker 1: had the win lost percentages that you had. His talent
- 14:28Speaker 1: leads you to believe he would have. But that stat
- 14:30Speaker 1: blows my mind. It pretty much says, look, if you
- 14:32Speaker 1: win in I'm not gonna beat you. But now he's
- 14:35Speaker 1: in LA He's got some talent, so he's getting it done.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Now that stat blew my mind. Now what crazy thing
- 14:40Speaker 1: about that is? Yeah, so essentially, if you had a
- 14:43Speaker 1: winning record, the Lions were not going to beat you.
- 14:45Speaker 1: Didn't mean the Lions couldn't doesn't mean the Lions couldn't
- 14:47Speaker 1: get to nine wins or ish. But if you had
- 14:49Speaker 1: a winning record, you know I can beat But that's crazy.
- 14:51Speaker 1: The fact that this year it feels like something like
- 14:54Speaker 1: that happens every week, and the fact that Stafford had
- 14:56Speaker 1: never done that until this point. Is nuts. But the
- 14:59Speaker 1: Seahawks defense, they're gonna have their hands full of staff
- 15:01Speaker 1: or they're dead lasting yards given up three hundred ninety
- 15:04Speaker 1: four pour game. But like you mentioned earlier, fifth best
- 15:06Speaker 1: scoring defense in the NFL, So they're keeping guys out
- 15:08Speaker 1: of the end zone, which is really important against his
- 15:10Speaker 1: high powered Rams offense. Now on the flip side, quarterback
- 15:13Speaker 1: Russell Wilson against this Rams front seven will sit on
- 15:16Speaker 1: the season one ninety one for two eighty seven two thousand,
- 15:19Speaker 1: three hundred and two yards and sixteen touchdowns to just
- 15:22Speaker 1: four interceptions, thirty one carries, one hundred forty one yards
- 15:26Speaker 1: and one touchdown. He's only played ten games this year,
- 15:28Speaker 1: but the last two weeks, Bump, he's been playing well
- 15:31Speaker 1: forty seven of sixty five four hundred ninety one yards,
- 15:34Speaker 1: four touchdowns and one interception. As we know that one
- 15:36Speaker 1: was not his fault. In the last matchup against the Rams,
- 15:39Speaker 1: he's eleven of sixteen for one hundred and fifty two yards,
- 15:42Speaker 1: one touchdown in one interception before breaking his finger. Now,
- 15:46Speaker 1: you talked about the Rams defense earlier. They have unbelievable
- 15:50Speaker 1: talent at every level. Of that defense, but they don't
- 15:53Speaker 1: rank as high as you thought they would. They were
- 15:55Speaker 1: number one in defense last year. They're fifteenth in yards
- 15:57Speaker 1: allowed right now at three forty seven, the twentieth against
- 16:00Speaker 1: the pass, allowing two hundred and forty six yards per game,
- 16:03Speaker 1: and they're seventeenth in points per game, allowing twenty two.
- 16:06Speaker 1: That being said, Bump, don't focus on them numbers, because
- 16:10Speaker 1: when you have Aaron Donald on your team, Leonard Floyd
- 16:13Speaker 1: on your team, Greg Gains on your team, all those dudes,
- 16:16Speaker 1: it's not a problem. I mean, Aaron Donald has sixty
- 16:19Speaker 1: one tackles, hen sacks, twelve TFLs, four pass defended, and
- 16:23Speaker 1: two fumbles and against the Seahawks, oh boy, sixteen games
- 16:27Speaker 1: against the Seahawks cleaning the playoffs, sixty three tackles, sixteen sacks,
- 16:31Speaker 1: forty three hits, twenty four TFLs as an interior defensive linemen.
- 16:38Speaker 1: That's tough. That's tough. Aaron Donald one of the best
- 16:40Speaker 1: players that ever play the game. And then you team
- 16:42Speaker 1: him up with Leonard Floyd, who just always plays well
- 16:45Speaker 1: against the four excusing against Seahawks fifty six tackles, eight sacks,
- 16:48Speaker 1: five tackles for loss, two passes defend into one interception
- 16:51Speaker 1: this year and Greg Gangs has been having a great
- 16:53Speaker 1: year two forty four tackles, three and a half sacks,
- 16:55Speaker 1: two tackles for loss. The Seahawks offensive line will have
- 16:59Speaker 1: to step up. They need to ball out this year
- 17:02Speaker 1: and help Russell Wilson do his thing. Another matchup where
- 17:06Speaker 1: Shot Penning versus the Rounds Front seven. He's coming off
- 17:09Speaker 1: his best game of his career last week. It was beautiful.
- 17:12Speaker 1: Sixteen carries, one hundred and thirty seven yards, two touchdowns.
- 17:14Speaker 1: Those were all career highs. He has a bunch of
- 17:17Speaker 1: confidence in himself and Pete Carroll has confidence in him
- 17:20Speaker 1: as well. They want him to be the starter. That's
- 17:22Speaker 1: why they drafted him to be the starter. This is
- 17:25Speaker 1: gonna be his opportunity the last two weeks. The best
- 17:27Speaker 1: thing he's done is just stay healthy. Usually when this
- 17:30Speaker 1: guy runs the football, he goes down. We're holding our breath.
- 17:32Speaker 1: We're like, come home, or Shot, get up, you got this.
- 17:35Speaker 1: But he's done a great job. Now it won't be
- 17:37Speaker 1: easy against his round Front seventh. They ranked seventh in
- 17:39Speaker 1: the NFL against the running, allowing a hundred yards per
- 17:42Speaker 1: game for the Seahawks have any chance Sunday, they will
- 17:44Speaker 1: need to be able to run the fullball. Doesn't have
- 17:47Speaker 1: to be huge numbers, but you gotta make this defense
- 17:49Speaker 1: respect the run and respect were Shot Penny. Yeah. Man,
- 17:52Speaker 1: I'm hoping the shot can string three or four games
- 17:54Speaker 1: together right here, because they're definitely gonna need it. You
- 17:56Speaker 1: don't need the fifty yard or bump, but you're gonna
- 17:58Speaker 1: need to keep drives alive in keep that time of possession. Now,
- 18:02Speaker 1: another matchup. This is really fun for me in any fans,
- 18:05Speaker 1: DK Metcalf and Jalen Ramsey, assuming Jalen Ramsey is back
- 18:08Speaker 1: from the COVID list. On the season right now, DK
- 18:11Speaker 1: is fifty six receptions, seven hundred and fifty three yards,
- 18:14Speaker 1: eight touchdown, but Bump, he's been pretty quiet the last
- 18:17Speaker 1: five games. He's only got seventeen receptions for one hundred
- 18:20Speaker 1: and seventy three yards in zero touchdowns, which is unusual
- 18:23Speaker 1: for a guy like Metcalf. So hoping the Seahawks and
- 18:26Speaker 1: getting him more involved. And you look at the last
- 18:28Speaker 1: couple of matchups against Ramsey, I'm gonna focus on the
- 18:31Speaker 1: last two because I think the the first three, you know,
- 18:34Speaker 1: I think the Rams did a really good job defending him,
- 18:36Speaker 1: but the last two definitely the edge goes to DK Metcalf.
- 18:39Speaker 1: Five receptions for ninety six yards, two touchdowns in the
- 18:42Speaker 1: playoff loss, and this earlier this year he had five
- 18:45Speaker 1: receptions for ninety eight yards and two touchdowns on five targets.
- 18:49Speaker 1: Now Jalen Ramsey, he's the leading interceptor for the Rams.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Three interceptions, eleven pass defended, fifty nine tackles the last
- 18:56Speaker 1: two matchups against DK Metcalf, three tackles, one pass offended,
- 19:00Speaker 1: the very last matchup, four tackles, one past offended, and
- 19:02Speaker 1: one of those touchdowns was one on one on DK Metcalf.
- 19:06Speaker 1: We know these guys aren't going to line up on
- 19:07Speaker 1: every single play, but it is fun every time you
- 19:11Speaker 1: get that, you know, I don't know, five six, seven,
- 19:13Speaker 1: eight times a game where it's one on one these
- 19:14Speaker 1: two guys in the past concept. Get your popcorn ready
- 19:17Speaker 1: because it's gonna be fun. But we all know it's
- 19:19Speaker 1: coming down with that whole unit man, DK Tyler Gerald
- 19:22Speaker 1: and if Dastros can get involved because it's a good secondary.
- 19:25Speaker 1: But I think if Russell has some time, if he's
- 19:29Speaker 1: not completely underdarresting against sack five or ten times. I
- 19:31Speaker 1: think this where the Seahawks and really take advantage. There's
- 19:35Speaker 1: two things I want from this game. I want a
- 19:38Speaker 1: camera that follows DK and Jalen when they're matched up,
- 19:41Speaker 1: and I need them both miked up. I just want
- 19:44Speaker 1: to see and hear what that interaction is like, man,
- 19:46Speaker 1: because that's some of the best parts of football, is
- 19:48Speaker 1: just what's being said, even if you're not even talking
- 19:50Speaker 1: to trash, right, it's just the interaction between two great players.
- 19:54Speaker 1: I think that'd be awesome, But you're right, it's gonna
- 19:56Speaker 1: take the whole village to get it done against the Rams. Now,
- 19:58Speaker 1: when you look at the Rams, they got Cooper Cup,
- 20:01Speaker 1: leading receiver in the league, Van Jefferson, who is a
- 20:04Speaker 1: great number two or number three option and that we
- 20:07Speaker 1: all know about ob J. Cooper Cup is having one
- 20:11Speaker 1: of the best seasons in the NFL. With four games remaining,
- 20:14Speaker 1: this guy has one hundred and thirteen receptions, fourteen hundred
- 20:17Speaker 1: and eighty nine yards and twelve touchdowns. Robert Woods got
- 20:22Speaker 1: banged up towards knee, who steps up Van Jefferson forty
- 20:25Speaker 1: one reception, six hundred and seventy nine yards and six touchdowns.
- 20:28Speaker 1: Now they made a trade for OBJ talk about LA
- 20:31Speaker 1: star Studded. It's only right Odell goes to LA. Four
- 20:34Speaker 1: games he has fifteen receptions, two hundred and three yards,
- 20:37Speaker 1: three touchdowns, but he's had one touchdown in the past
- 20:40Speaker 1: three games. Without question, this is the best receiving corps
- 20:43Speaker 1: of the Seals will face the rest of the season.
- 20:45Speaker 1: And that even includes the Cardinals with all the weapons
- 20:47Speaker 1: that they have. I think there's just a lot of
- 20:49Speaker 1: experience in the offense itself just goes and you at
- 20:53Speaker 1: these guys in it, it's gonna be all awesome. Now
- 20:56Speaker 1: would kill the Seahawks in the first matchup was explosive plays, right,
- 20:59Speaker 1: They had play is passes ten ten passes that went
- 21:02Speaker 1: over fifteen yards. You got a six in yard game. Seventeen, seventeen,
- 21:05Speaker 1: twenty five, sixty eight, twenty three, twenty four. I mean,
- 21:08Speaker 1: but that's the story of the Hawks this year, is
- 21:10Speaker 1: right is giving up explosive plays. I expect the Rams
- 21:13Speaker 1: to have explosive plays, yeah, but we can't have them
- 21:18Speaker 1: on third and long like last last time they matched
- 21:21Speaker 1: up with DeShawn Jackson. You have to contain these guys.
- 21:24Speaker 1: But there there's some concepts that these guys have been
- 21:27Speaker 1: working on. And as you drew a diagram and hit
- 21:30Speaker 1: us up and put your coach and hat on and say, look,
- 21:32Speaker 1: if they can stop this concept, they got a chance.
- 21:35Speaker 1: Tell me about this. Yeah, I'll try to do my
- 21:37Speaker 1: best to describe it. Obviously you're listening to a podcast,
- 21:39Speaker 1: But essentially the Rams really killed the Seahawks, and it's
- 21:43Speaker 1: really the same concept that they running out of a
- 21:45Speaker 1: ton of formations. So we'll just take one. For example,
- 21:48Speaker 1: you got trips to the field, so you got three
- 21:50Speaker 1: receivers to the field. They're kind of in a bunch
- 21:51Speaker 1: formation away from all the rest of the lineman. You
- 21:55Speaker 1: have one receiver on the opposite side, one back in
- 21:57Speaker 1: the backfield. Now number one is the farthest out side
- 22:00Speaker 1: in the bunch, but he's off the line of scrimmage.
- 22:02Speaker 1: Number two is on the line of scrimmage, and then
- 22:04Speaker 1: number three is inside. So what keeps happening for the
- 22:08Speaker 1: Seahawks or against the Rams is what they're doing is
- 22:11Speaker 1: they're take in number two, he's at the top of
- 22:13Speaker 1: the trips formation and running him on an over route,
- 22:16Speaker 1: just a deep over route across the middle of the field.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Because in the first matchup, the Seahawks linebackers returning and
- 22:22Speaker 1: running with that. Obviously, the Seahaws played in multiple coverages,
- 22:25Speaker 1: but when they did that, they brought number one who
- 22:27Speaker 1: just running about a fifteen yard dig and he was
- 22:30Speaker 1: open every single time because the corners or the dbs
- 22:34Speaker 1: were playing in a deep third and that dig route
- 22:36Speaker 1: was open. Multiple times, they went back to it several times.
- 22:39Speaker 1: They ran it back to back plays. Now, bump, this
- 22:42Speaker 1: is tough. This makes it really hard on a secondary
- 22:45Speaker 1: on multiple coverages because they are keying on guys and
- 22:48Speaker 1: they're going to throw too who is open. And that's
- 22:50Speaker 1: what makes the rams so tough is because the play
- 22:52Speaker 1: I just talked about. They will do it out of
- 22:54Speaker 1: a ton of different formations. They'll do it out of trips,
- 22:56Speaker 1: they'll do it our trade, they'll do it a slot open,
- 22:58Speaker 1: they'll do it out empty. And they were really testing
- 23:01Speaker 1: your defense and your keys because they're gonna read this
- 23:03Speaker 1: guy and like, if he moves here, we're throwing the
- 23:05Speaker 1: ball there. So I think if they can try to
- 23:08Speaker 1: take away this trip's concept bump, the Seahawks have a
- 23:10Speaker 1: great chance of eliminating some of these big plays. Robert
- 23:13Speaker 1: Woods was a guy who was running those routes, right,
- 23:15Speaker 1: Cooper Cup would run him off. Robert Woods would come
- 23:17Speaker 1: behind and make them play now o b J. If
- 23:20Speaker 1: he's not there. Van Jefferson's really kind of their other
- 23:22Speaker 1: deep threat, right, you'd say the speed home run hitter.
- 23:25Speaker 1: So it'll be interesting. So long story short, I think
- 23:28Speaker 1: in simple terms, the Seahawks just need to be sound defensively.
- 23:32Speaker 1: I'm sure they're obviously in the film room and they
- 23:34Speaker 1: know the Rams concepts they played them so many different times.
- 23:36Speaker 1: But what makes the Rams offense really explosive and just
- 23:42Speaker 1: tough to defend for me is that they do all
- 23:44Speaker 1: of this stuff out of different formations. It's like a
- 23:47Speaker 1: lot of the same concepts, but it looks different every time.
- 23:50Speaker 1: So it's just it's really about eye discipline and taking
- 23:53Speaker 1: care of that middle of the field bump, because that's
- 23:55Speaker 1: where the Rams want to pick you apart. Bobby, Come on, Bobby,
- 23:59Speaker 1: we need your baby. Tip a couple of those footballs
- 24:01Speaker 1: and give our guys a chance. We know if Bobby
- 24:03Speaker 1: can get his hands on it or just influence that throw.
- 24:05Speaker 1: Quandre is gonna be lurking around there and we can
- 24:07Speaker 1: grab a couple of interceptions. All right, let's figure out
- 24:10Speaker 1: how are they gonna win this game? Path to victory.
- 24:14Speaker 1: After forty five waits for the snaff, Michael Vickton puts
- 24:17Speaker 1: it down. That kick is away, and that kick is gon.
- 24:22Speaker 1: It's gun. It's a pass to victory on Hawk Talk.
- 24:28Speaker 1: First thing they have to do eliminate explosive plays. They
- 24:31Speaker 1: gave up way too many explosive plays against the Rams
- 24:34Speaker 1: in their first matchup. Robert Woods. I just keep seeing
- 24:37Speaker 1: Robert Woods, Robert Woods, Deshan on third and long. You
- 24:40Speaker 1: just can't have those. You're never gonna eliminate all the
- 24:43Speaker 1: explosive plays against the Rams. That would be nice, but
- 24:45Speaker 1: they have too many weapons. This can't have too many
- 24:47Speaker 1: of those, Yeah, but can't have ten again, that's just
- 24:49Speaker 1: absolutely too much. And take care of the middle of
- 24:50Speaker 1: the field. And that's not always gonna be Bobby or
- 24:52Speaker 1: Jordan that sometimes the safeties. That might be Ryan Neil,
- 24:55Speaker 1: that might be Quandry, whatever it is. You just gotta
- 24:57Speaker 1: take care of the middle of the field because that's
- 24:59Speaker 1: where the Rams can really hurt you. And Cooper Cup,
- 25:02Speaker 1: We've said this a million times. We've probably given Cooper
- 25:04Speaker 1: Cup of George kilmore love than any other players outside
- 25:07Speaker 1: of the Seahawks this entire season because they do it
- 25:09Speaker 1: every single week in Cooper Cup with the Eastern connection there.
- 25:12Speaker 1: But man, he just can't go off. He's gonna get
- 25:14Speaker 1: his numbers. But like for me, I'm okay, if he's
- 25:17Speaker 1: like seven or eight for like eighty or seventy three,
- 25:20Speaker 1: maybe one touchdown, that's okay. He's gonna get those. There's
- 25:23Speaker 1: nothing you're gonna do about that. But I don't want
- 25:25Speaker 1: to see fourteen for one fifty and two touchdowns. So
- 25:28Speaker 1: do what you can to keep it from having a
- 25:30Speaker 1: massive day. Easier said than done. Yeah, I wouldn't mind
- 25:34Speaker 1: seeing a few unnecessary roughness against Cooper Cup. You know,
- 25:37Speaker 1: just rub him up a little bit, none dirty, but
- 25:39Speaker 1: let him know he's in a football game now. This
- 25:41Speaker 1: offensive line has to have their best game of the season.
- 25:44Speaker 1: This front for the Rams is no jokes. You got
- 25:47Speaker 1: Aaron Donald, you got Lionard Floyd. These guys have their
- 25:50Speaker 1: best games against the Seahawks over the past years. You
- 25:52Speaker 1: have to protect Russell Wilson and then you have to
- 25:54Speaker 1: run the football. Rashaw Pinning, He's another solid performance. This
- 25:58Speaker 1: is big for rashot Man. He's playing where his NFL
- 26:01Speaker 1: career right now. No matter what happens, he's going to
- 26:03Speaker 1: get another chance. But now he's playing for money. He
- 26:06Speaker 1: might not be thinking that, but that's the reality. And
- 26:08Speaker 1: if he plays well, this team is going to play well,
- 26:11Speaker 1: no question about it. Love to see rashow to get
- 26:13Speaker 1: after it again, because you're right that what you put
- 26:14Speaker 1: on film last four weeks, whether the seats go to
- 26:16Speaker 1: the playoffs or not, will be a huge influence on
- 26:18Speaker 1: whether he's here or if he's on another team next year.
- 26:21Speaker 1: And then Decay and Tyler Man. You say this every week,
- 26:24Speaker 1: but then you get the ball in their hands. I
- 26:25Speaker 1: really want to see DK more involved. He's too good
- 26:28Speaker 1: to not have to have the kind of production he's
- 26:30Speaker 1: had the last five weeks. Tyler has been absolutely balling
- 26:33Speaker 1: out the last couple of weeks, so we know what
- 26:35Speaker 1: can happen there. Keep hitting those deep crosses. Find a
- 26:38Speaker 1: way to get DK involved in the offense. But in
- 26:41Speaker 1: order to find Tyler on any of those deep crosses,
- 26:42Speaker 1: you gotta protect so the offensive line, once again, coming
- 26:45Speaker 1: back to them, they're gonna need to play their best
- 26:47Speaker 1: game of the year. You need to score points and
- 26:50Speaker 1: possess the football. Now, they didn't win the time of
- 26:53Speaker 1: possession last week against the Texas, but it was close,
- 26:56Speaker 1: closer than has been over the past weeks. And then
- 26:59Speaker 1: keep your hopes a lot man. You're you're not out
- 27:01Speaker 1: of this yet. You're not out of this, Naslin over
- 27:03Speaker 1: the playoffs scenarios. You keep winning. Somebody takes an l
- 27:06Speaker 1: you have a chance to get her done. This is
- 27:09Speaker 1: gonna be a big week down in La nas Where

- 27:50Speaker 1: feel good about it. Yes, Third Hawks are going down
