- 0:00In Jeremiah 51:49, we are told,
- 0:04just as Babylon killed the people of Israel and others throughout
- 0:08the world, so must her people be killed. Go, you who
- 0:12escaped the sword! Do not stand and watch.
- 0:15Flee while you can! Remember the Lord,
- 0:19even though you are in a far-off land, and think
- 0:23about your home in Jerusalem.
- 0:27In Revelation chapter 18, verse 4, we are told,
- 0:30and I heard another voice from heaven saying, come out of
- 0:34her, my people, lest you share in her sins and
- 0:38lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have
- 0:42reached to heaven, and God has remembered her
- 0:45iniquities. Who or
- 0:49what is Babylon, and how Do
- 0:52we flee from her? How do we come out of
- 0:56Babylon? Listen in as we do a deep
- 1:00dive on this topic. Welcome to the
- 1:04Daily Audio Torah. Today is October 27th. Now let's
- 1:09continue our journey reading through the entire Bible in one year.
- 1:12This week we are reading from the New Living Translation for the Old Testament and
- 1:16for the New Testament.
- 1:20Deuteronomy 14:22-16,
- 1:2617. You must set aside a tithe of your crops, one-tenth of
- 1:30all the crops you harvest each year. Bring this tithe to
- 1:34the designated place of worship, the place the Lord your God chooses for
- 1:38his name to be honored, and eat it there in his presence.
- 1:42This applies for your tithes of grain, new wine,
- 1:45olive oil, and the firstborn males of your flocks and herds.
- 1:49Doing this will teach you always to fear the Lord your God.
- 1:53Now, when the Lord your God blesses you with a good harvest,
- 1:57the place of worship he chooses for his name to be honored might be
- 2:00too far for you to bring the tithe. If so, you may sell
- 2:04the tithe portion of your crops and herds, put the money in a pouch,
- 2:08and go to the place the Lord your God has chosen. When you arrive,
- 2:12you may use the money to buy any kind of food you want, cattle,
- 2:15sheep, goats, wine, or other alcoholic drink.
- 2:19Then feast there in the presence of the Lord your God and celebrate
- 2:23with your household. And do not neglect the Levites
- 2:26in your town, for they will receive no allotment of land among you. At the
- 2:31end of every 3rd year, bring the entire tithe of that year's
- 2:34harvest and store it in the nearest town. Give it to the Levites, who will
- 2:38receive no allotment of land among you, as well as to the
- 2:42foreigners living among you, the orphans, and the widows in your
- 2:45towns, so they can eat and be satisfied. Then the
- 2:49Lord your God will bless you in all your work. At the
- 2:52end of every 7th year, you must cancel the debts of everyone
- 2:56who owes you money. This is how it must be done: Everyone
- 3:01must cancel the loans they have made to their fellow Israelites. They must not demand
- 3:05payment from their neighbors or relatives. For the Lord's
- 3:08time of release has come. This release from
- 3:12debt, however, applies only to your fellow Israelites and
- 3:16not to the foreigners living among you. There should be no poor
- 3:19among you, for the Lord your God will greatly bless you in the land He
- 3:23is giving you as a special possession. You will receive
- 3:26this blessing if you are careful to obey all the commands of the
- 3:31Lord your God that I am giving you today. The Lord your God will bless
- 3:35you as He has promised. You will lend money
- 3:38to many nations but will never need to borrow. You will rule many
- 3:42nations, but they will not rule over you. But if there
- 3:46are any poor Israelites in your towns when you arrive in the land
- 3:50the Lord your God is giving you, do not be hard-hearted or tight-fisted
- 3:54toward them. Instead, be generous and lend
- 3:58them whatever they need. Do not be mean-spirited and refuse someone
- 4:02a loan because the year for canceling debts is close at
- 4:06hand. If you refuse to make the loan and the
- 4:09needy person cries out to the Lord, you will be considered guilty
- 4:13of sin. Give generously to
- 4:17the poor, not grudgingly, for the Lord your God will bless you in
- 4:21everything you do. There will always be some in the
- 4:24land who are poor, That is why I am commanding you to share freely
- 4:28with the poor and with other Israelites in need.
- 4:32If a fellow Hebrew sells himself or herself to be your servant
- 4:36and serves you for 6 years, in the 7th year you must set that
- 4:41servant free. When you release a male servant, do not
- 4:44send him away empty-handed. Give him a generous farewell
- 4:48gift from your flock, your threshing floor, and your winepress.
- 4:52Share with him some of the bounty with which the Lord your God has blessed
- 4:56you. Remember that you were once slaves in the land of Egypt
- 5:00and the Lord your God redeemed you. That is why I am
- 5:04giving you this command. But suppose your servant
- 5:07says, I will not leave you, because he loves you and your family
- 5:11and he has done well with you. In that case, take an awl
- 5:15and push it through his earlobe into the door. After that
- 5:18he will be your servant for life. And do the same for your female
- 5:22servants. You must not consider it a hardship
- 5:25when you release your servants. Remember that for 6 years they
- 5:29have given you services worth double the wages of hired
- 5:33workers. And the Lord your God will bless you in all you
- 5:37do. You must set aside for the Lord your God all
- 5:40the firstborn males from your flocks and herds. Do not
- 5:44use the firstborn of your herds to work your fields,
- 5:47and do not shear the firstborn of your flocks.
- 5:51Instead, you and your family must eat these animals in the
- 5:54presence of the Lord your God each year at the place He chooses.
- 5:58But if this firstborn animal has any defect, such as
- 6:02lameness or blindness, or if anything else is wrong with it,
- 6:06you must not sacrifice it to the Lord your God.
- 6:09Instead, use it for food for your family in your hometown.
- 6:13Anyone, whether ceremonially clean or unclean, may eat
- 6:18it, just as anyone may eat a gazelle or deer. But you
- 6:22must not consume the blood; you must pour it out on the
- 6:26ground like water.
- 6:29In honor of the Lord your God, celebrate the Passover each year in
- 6:33the early spring, in the month of Aviv, for that was the month in which
- 6:37the Lord your God brought you out of Egypt by night. Your Passover
- 6:42sacrifice may be from either the flock or the herd,
- 6:45and it must be sacrificed to the Lord your God at the designated place
- 6:49of worship, the place He chooses for His name to be honored.
- 6:53Eat it with bread made without yeast. For 7 days
- 6:57the bread you eat must be made without yeast, as when
- 7:00you escaped from Egypt in such a hurry. Eat this bread,
- 7:04the bread of suffering, so that as long as you live you will remember the
- 7:08day you departed from Egypt. Let no yeast be found in any
- 7:12house throughout your land for those 7 days. And when
- 7:16you sacrifice the Passover lamb on the evening of the first day,
- 7:19do not let any of the meat remain until the next morning.
- 7:24You may not sacrifice the Passover in just any of the towns that
- 7:28the Lord your God is giving you. You must offer it only at the
- 7:32designated place of worship, the place the Lord your God chooses for His name
- 7:36to be honored. Sacrifice it there in the evening as the
- 7:40sun goes down on the anniversary of your exodus from Egypt.
- 7:45Roast the lamb and eat it in the place the Lord your God chooses.
- 7:49Then you may go back to your tents the next morning.
- 7:54For the next 6 days you may not eat any bread made with
- 7:57yeast. On the 7th day proclaim another holy day
- 8:01in honor of the Lord your God, and no work may be done on
- 8:04that day. Count off 7 weeks
- 8:08from when you first begin to cut the grain at the time of harvest.
- 8:12Then celebrate the Festival of Harvest to honor the Lord your God.
- 8:16Bring Him a voluntary offering in proportion to the blessings you
- 8:21have received from Him. This is a time to celebrate before
- 8:24the Lord your God at the designated place of worship He will choose for
- 8:29His name to be honored. Celebrate with your sons and daughters,
- 8:33your male and female servants, the Levites from your towns,
- 8:37and the foreigners, orphans, and widows who live among you.
- 8:40Remember that you were once slaves in Egypt, so be careful to
- 8:44obey all these decrees.
- 8:47You must observe the Festival of Sukkot for 7 days at the
- 8:51end of the harvest season, after the grain has been threshed
- 8:54and the grapes have been pressed. This festival will be a
- 8:58happy time of celebrating with your sons and daughters, your male and
- 9:03female servants, and the Levites, foreigners, orphans, and widows from
- 9:07your towns. For 7 days you must celebrate this festival
- 9:11to honor the Lord your God at the place He chooses, for it
- 9:15is He who blesses you with bountiful harvests and gives you success in
- 9:19all your work. This festival will be a time of great joy
- 9:23for all. Each year every man in Israel must
- 9:27celebrate these 3 festivals: the Festival of Unleavened
- 9:30Bread, the Festival of Harvest, and the Festival of Sukkot.
- 9:35On each of these occasions all men must appear before
- 9:38the Lord your God at the place He chooses. But they
- 9:42must not appear before the Lord without a gift for Him.
- 9:45All must give as they are able, according to the blessings given to
- 9:49them by the Lord your God.
- 9:58Jeremiah 51:1-53.
- 10:03This is what the Lord says: I will stir up a destroyer against Babylon
- 10:07and the people of Babylonia. Foreigners will come and winnow her,
- 10:11blowing her away as chaff. They will come from every side
- 10:15to rise against her in her day of trouble. Don't let the archers
- 10:19put on their armor or draw their bows. No one will
- 10:23be spared. Young and old alike will be completely destroyed.
- 10:27They will fall dead in the land of the Babylonians, slashed to
- 10:30death in her streets. For the LORD Almighty has not forsaken
- 10:34Israel and Judah. He is still their God, even though
- 10:38their land was filled with sin against the Holy One of
- 10:47Flee from Babylon! Save yourselves!
- 10:51Don't get trapped in her punishment. It is
- 10:55the Lord's time for vengeance. He will fully repay
- 10:58her. Babylon has been like a golden cup in
- 11:02the Lord's hands, a cup from which He made the whole
- 11:06earth drink and go mad. But now suddenly Babylon too
- 11:10has fallen. Weep for her and give her medicine.
- 11:13Perhaps she can yet be healed. We would have helped her
- 11:17if we could, but nothing can save her now. Let her go,
- 11:21abandon her, return now to your own land,
- 11:24for her judgment will be so great it cannot be measured.
- 11:29The Lord has vindicated us! Come, let us announce
- 11:33in Jerusalem everything the Lord our God has done. Sharpen the
- 11:36arrows, lift up the shields, for the Lord
- 11:40has stirred up the spirit of the kings of the Medes to march
- 11:44against Babylon. And destroy her.
- 11:47This is His vengeance against those who desecrated His Temple.
- 11:52Raise the battle flag against Battle— Babylon! Reinforce the
- 11:56guard and station the watchmen. Prepare an ambush,
- 11:59for the Lord will fulfill all His plans against Babylon.
- 12:03You are a city rich with water, a great center of
- 12:07commerce, but your end has come. The thread of your
- 12:10life is cut. The Lord Almighty has taken this vow
- 12:14and has sworn to it by His own name. Your cities
- 12:18will be filled with enemies, like the fields filled with locusts,
- 12:22and they will lift their shouts of triumph over you.
- 12:26He made the earth by His power, and He preserves it by His wisdom.
- 12:30He has stretched out the heavens by His understanding.
- 12:34When He speaks, there is thunder in the heavens. He causes
- 12:37the clouds to rise over the earth, He sends
- 12:41the lightning with the rain and releases the wind from His storehouses.
- 12:45Compared to Him, all people are foolish and have no knowledge at
- 12:49all. They make idols, but the idols will disgrace their
- 12:53makers, for they are frauds. They have no life
- 12:57or power in them. Idols are worthless; they are lies.
- 13:01The time is coming when they will all be destroyed.
- 13:04But the God of Israel is no idol. He is the Creator
- 13:08of everything that exists, including His people,
- 13:12His own special possession. The Lord Almighty
- 13:16is His name. You are My battle axe and sword,
- 13:20says the Lord. With you I will shatter nations
- 13:24and destroy many kingdoms. With you I will
- 13:28shatter armies, destroying the horse and the rider, the chariot
- 13:32and the charioteer. With you I will shatter
- 13:36men and women, old people and children, young men and maidens.
- 13:40With you I will shatter shepherds and flocks,
- 13:43farmers and oxen, captains and rulers.
- 13:47As you watch, I will repay Babylon and the
- 13:51people of Babylonia for all the wrong they have done to my
- 13:55people in Jerusalem, says the
- 13:58Lord. Look, O mighty mountain,
- 14:01destroyer of the earth! I am your enemy, says the
- 14:04Lord. I will raise My fist against you to roll
- 14:08you down from the heights. When I am finished,
- 14:12you will be nothing but a heap of rubble. You will be desolate forever.
- 14:16Even your stones will never again be used for building.
- 14:20You will be completely wiped out, says the Lord.
- 14:24Signal many nations to mobilize for war against Babylon.
- 14:28Sound the battle cry! Bring out the armies of Ararat,
- 14:31Minni, and Ashkenaz. Appoint a leader and bring
- 14:35a multitude of horses. Bring against her the armies
- 14:39of the kings of the Medes and their generals, and the armies of all
- 14:42the countries they rule. Babylon trembles and writhes
- 14:46in pain, for everything the Lord has planned against her stands unchanged.
- 14:51Babylon will be left desolate, without a single inhabitant.
- 14:56Her mightiest warriors no longer fight. They stay in
- 14:59their barracks. Their courage is gone. They have become
- 15:03as fearful as women. The invaders have burned
- 15:07the houses and broken down the city gates. Messengers from every side
- 15:11come running to the king to tell him all is lost.
- 15:15All the escape routes are blocked. The fortifications
- 15:18are burning and the army is in panic. For the
- 15:22Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says, Babylon is like wheat
- 15:26on a threshing floor, about to be trampled. In just a
- 15:30little while her harvest will begin. King Nebuchadnezzar
- 15:35of Babylon has eaten and crushed us and emptied out our
- 15:39strength. He has swallowed us like a great monster
- 15:43and filled his belly with our riches. He has thrown us out
- 15:47of our own country. May Babylon be repaid for all the
- 15:51violence she did to us, say the people of Jerusalem.
- 15:55May the people of Babylonia be paid in full for all the
- 15:59blood they spilled, says Jerusalem.
- 16:02The Lord says to Jerusalem, I will be your lawyer
- 16:06to plead your case, and I will avenge you. I will dry up
- 16:10her river, her water supply, and Babylon will become a heap of rubble.
- 16:15Haunted by jackals. It will be an object
- 16:19of horror and contempt, without a single person living there.
- 16:23In their drunken feasts, the people of Babylon roar like
- 16:27lions, and while they lie inflamed with all their
- 16:30wine, I will prepare a different kind of feast
- 16:34for them. I will make them drink until they fall asleep,
- 16:38never again to awaken, says the Lord. I will
- 16:42bring them like lambs to the slaughter, like rams and goats
- 16:45to be sacrificed. How Babylon is fallen!
- 16:49Great Babylon prays throughout the earth. The world can scarcely
- 16:54believe its eyes at her fall. The sea has risen
- 16:57over Babylon. She is covered by its waves. Her cities
- 17:02now lie in ruins. She is a dry wilderness where no one
- 17:06lives or even passes by. And I will punish
- 17:09Bel, the god of Babylon, and pull from his mouth what
- 17:13he has taken. The nations will no longer come and worship him.
- 17:17The wall of Babylon has fallen! Listen, my people,
- 17:21flee from Babylon! Save yourselves! Run from the Lord's fierce
- 17:25anger! But do not panic when you have— when you hear
- 17:29the first rumor of approaching forces, for rumors will
- 17:33keep coming year by year. Then there will be a time
- 17:37of violence as the leaders fight against each other. For the
- 17:40time is surely coming when I will punish this great city and all
- 17:44her idols. Her whole land will be disgraced,
- 17:48and her dead will lie in the streets. The heavens and earth will
- 17:51rejoice, for out of the north will come destroying armies
- 17:55against Babylon, says the Lord. Just as Babylon
- 17:59killed the people of Israel and others throughout the world,
- 18:02so must her people be killed. Go,
- 18:05you who escaped the sword! Do not stand and watch.
- 18:09Flee while you can! Remember the Lord
- 18:12even though you are in a far-off land, and think about your home
- 18:16in Jerusalem. We are ashamed,
- 18:20the people say. We are insulted and disgraced because the Lord's
- 18:24Temple has been defiled by foreigners. Yes,
- 18:27says the Lord, But the time is coming when Babylon's idols will be
- 18:32destroyed. The groans of her wounded people will be heard
- 18:36throughout the land. Though Babylon reaches as high as the heavens
- 18:40and though she increases her strength immeasurably, I will
- 18:44send enemies to plunder her, says the Lord.
- 18:51Titus 2:1-15.
- 18:55But as for you, Titus, promote the kind of living that reflects right
- 19:00teaching. Teach the older men to exercise self-control,
- 19:04to be worthy of respect, and to live wisely.
- 19:07They must have strong faith and be filled with love and patience.
- 19:11Similarly, teach the older women to live in a
- 19:15way that is appropriate for someone serving the Lord. They must not go
- 19:19around speaking evil of others, and must not be heavy drinkers.
- 19:23Instead, they should teach others what is good.
- 19:27These older women must train the younger women to love their husbands
- 19:30and their children, to live wisely and be pure,
- 19:35to take care of their homes, to do good, and to be submissive
- 19:39to their husbands. Then they will not bring shame on
- 19:44the word of God. In the same way, encourage the young men to live wisely
- 19:48in all they do. And you yourself must be an example
- 19:51to them by doing good deeds of every kind.
- 19:55Let everything you do reflect the integrity and seriousness
- 19:59of your teaching. Let your teaching be so correct
- 20:04that it can't be criticized. Then those who want
- 20:07to argue will be ashamed because they won't have anything bad
- 20:11to say about us. Slaves must obey their masters
- 20:15and do their best to please them. They must not talk back
- 20:19or steal, but they must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy
- 20:23and good. Then they will make the teaching about God
- 20:27our Savior attractive in every way. For the grace of
- 20:30God has been revealed, bringing salvation to all people.
- 20:35And we are instructed to turn from godless living and sinful
- 20:39pleasures. We should live in this evil world with self-control right
- 20:44conduct, and devotion to God, while we look forward to that
- 20:48wonderful event when the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ
- 20:52will be revealed. He gave His life to free
- 20:56us from every kind of sin, to cleanse us, and to
- 21:00make us His very own people, totally committed to doing what
- 21:04is right. You must teach these things and encourage your people to do them.
- 21:09Correcting them when necessary.
- 21:12You have the authority to do this, so don't let anyone ignore
- 21:16you or disregard what you say.
- 21:22Psalm 99:1-9.
- 21:26The Lord is King; let the nations tremble.
- 21:29He sits on His throne between the cherubim; let
- 21:33the whole earth quake. The Lord sits in majesty
- 21:36in Jerusalem, supreme above all the nations. Let them praise
- 21:41your great and awesome name. Your name is holy.
- 21:44Mighty King, lover of justice, you have established fairness.
- 21:48You have acted with justice and righteousness throughout Israel.
- 21:52Exalt the Lord our God, bow low before
- 21:56his feet, for he is holy.
- 21:59Moses and Aaron were among his priests.
- 22:02Samuel also called on His name. They cried to the
- 22:05Lord for help, and He answered them. He spoke to them
- 22:09from the pillar of cloud, and they followed the decrees and
- 22:12principles He gave them. O Lord our God, You answered
- 22:16them. You were a forgiving God, but You punished them when they
- 22:20went wrong. Exalt the Lord our God and worship at
- 22:24His holy mountain in Jerusalem. For the Lord our God
- 22:28is holy. Proverbs 26:17.
- 22:35Yanking a dog's ears is as foolish as interfering
- 22:39in someone else's argument.
- 22:42I want to speak to you today from our reading from Jeremiah chapter
- 22:4651, and we're going to see a stark parallel
- 22:50to Revelation chapter 18, and our topic is
- 22:54Babylon.
- 22:58These 2 chapters in Jeremiah, chapter 50 and 51,
- 23:01are talking all about the judgment,
- 23:05end-time prophetic judgment of Babylon.
- 23:09And starting in Jeremiah 51, starting in verse 6,
- 23:13flee from Babylon, save yourselves, don't get trapped in her punishment.
- 23:18It is the Lord's time for vengeance. He will fully repay
- 23:23her. It goes on to say Babylon
- 23:29has been like a golden cup in the Lord's hands,
- 23:32a cup from which He made the whole earth
- 23:35drink and go mad. But now suddenly Babylon
- 23:39too has fallen. Weep for her and
- 23:43give her medicine. Perhaps she can yet be healed.
- 23:48We would have helped her if we could, but nothing can save her now.
- 23:52Let her go, abandon her, return now to your own land,
- 23:56for her judgment will be so great it cannot be
- 24:00measured. Now let's jump to
- 24:03Revelation 18, starting in
- 24:07verse 1. After these things, I saw another
- 24:10angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and the earth
- 24:14was illuminated with his glory. And he cried mightily with
- 24:18a loud voice saying, Babylon the Great is fallen, is fallen,
- 24:23and has become a dwelling place of demons, a prison
- 24:28for every foul spirit and a cage for every
- 24:32unclean and hated bird. For all the nations
- 24:35have drunk of the wine of the wrath
- 24:39of her fornication. The kings of the earth have committed
- 24:43fornication with her. And the merchants of the earth have
- 24:47become rich through the abundance of her
- 24:50luxury. It goes on to say, echoing the same thing
- 24:55from Jeremiah 51, now in Revelation 18:4,
- 24:59and I heard another voice from heaven saying, come out of her,
- 25:03my people, lest you share in her sins and
- 25:07lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins
- 25:11have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
- 25:17So we see this picture of a cup painted in
- 25:21both Jeremiah 51 and in Revelation 18, where the
- 25:25nations have drunk from this golden cup, and that the,
- 25:29the nations have drunk and have gone mad,
- 25:32but that Babylon is fallen, is fallen,
- 25:36And in both Revelation 18:4 and
- 25:40also in Jeremiah, it is saying, flee,
- 25:44leave Babylon, let her go, abandon her.
- 25:48So the question becomes, again, who or
- 25:52what is Babylon? How do we go about fleeing
- 25:56Babylon? We get another clue in Jeremiah 51:47,
- 26:01for the time is surely coming when I will punish
- 26:05this great city and all her
- 26:09idols. Her whole land will be disgraced,
- 26:13and her dead will lie in the streets. So she is described
- 26:17in more than one place as a great city.
- 26:22She is not a nation. She has land, but she is
- 26:26called a great city. And we see another clue
- 26:29in verse 49. Just as Babylon killed
- 26:33the people of Israel and others throughout
- 26:37the world, so must her people be killed.
- 26:42Go, you who escaped the sword, do not stand and watch.
- 26:46Flee while you can. So this great
- 26:50city of Babylon has blood on her hands and
- 26:54has killed the people of Israel.
- 27:00Now, as I record this, Trump's 20-point
- 27:04peace plan has been unveiled
- 27:07and is rolling out.
- 27:10It's a temporary peace, a pause,
- 27:14so to speak.
- 27:17And Qatar, the terrorist-sponsoring
- 27:22nation that has housed the top
- 27:26leadership of Hamas within their borders.
- 27:30They're probably one of the wealthiest nations on the
- 27:33earth. They have about 330,000 people who live there, and they're
- 27:37all extremely, extremely wealthy.
- 27:41And they have housed many of
- 27:45the top Hamas leadership.
- 27:49Could a nation like Qatar be considered Babylon?
- 27:54Since they have blood on their hands and have allowed or
- 27:57facilitated the killing and the murder of
- 28:01so many Jews in Israel?
- 28:05Will an actual city by the name of New Babylon
- 28:08be rebuilt somewhere in southern Iraq?
- 28:13Is Babylon more of a metaphor that
- 28:17we have are Jerusalem, the heavenly Jerusalem,
- 28:21where Jesus is gonna rule and reign for 1,000 years.
- 28:25And so maybe the Antichrist, his counterpart
- 28:29city is the New Babylon, and that he's gonna rule and reign
- 28:33from this New Babylon that hasn't yet been built.
- 28:37Or is Babylon actually an entity that exists even now as
- 28:42a system? In our economy
- 28:46and in the government. And, um,
- 28:50I don't know, it's, it's interesting to
- 28:54think about. But the question becomes, if we understand what Babylon
- 28:58is, God is exhorting us on multiple counts,
- 29:02flee from her, flee from her. Well,
- 29:06if you say that Babylon is a type of the
- 29:09world Flee from the world. Friendship with God
- 29:14is hatred towards the world, and friendship with the world is hatred towards
- 29:17God. In other words, if our mind and our heart,
- 29:21our compass is pointed to true north,
- 29:25and our true north is Jerusalem, our true
- 29:29north is Jesus Christ, then in
- 29:33this fashion, we are stepping out of and and
- 29:38fleeing from Babylon. But if our true north, if our
- 29:42compass is pointed towards things of the world,
- 29:46then maybe we are living in the Babylon world system.
- 29:52These are all things to think about, but it is fascinating to see all
- 29:56these parallels between Jeremiah 50 and 51 and
- 30:00Revelation 17 and 18. Babylon is not just
- 30:04an historical entity, an ancient nation that was once
- 30:09was led by King Nebuchadnezzar and
- 30:13then was vanquished, was overtaken by
- 30:17the Persians, and it was an ancient kingdom that fell.
- 30:20But we know from Revelation 17 and 18 Babylon
- 30:24is going to come back on the scene in the end of days. And so
- 30:28it's something to be seeking and asking the
- 30:33Lord to reveal to us more. Understanding on this
- 30:37Babylon because we are told to flee from her and
- 30:41we flee to Jesus Christ.
- 30:44Remember the Lord even though you are in a far-off
- 30:49land and think about your home in Jerusalem.
