Latest / OneLegUpAlex Media / One Leg Up 6-30-24 : Why Don’t We Charge Anti-Semitic Protesters Congestion Pricing For Blocking NYC Streets
Transcript
- 0:01Here's your host, Alex Garrett. Well, while I was not feeling too
- 0:09hot, you know, at the gallstones and getting that under control and recovering,
- 0:15something big happened that would have that does impact today and should be celebrated
- 0:20today. And that is the fact that Governor Kathy Hockle maneuvered it so that
- 0:26congestion pricing would not start today June thirtieth, that was supposed to start day.
- 0:33Traffic under sixty street, cars under sixtieth Street would have been charged about
- 0:39fifteen dollars to enter the busiest part of Manhattan, on top of any other
- 0:45bridge or tunnel tolls. Hocal said she was delaying the congestion pricing because of
- 0:52concerns in New York City's economy might hurt if people stayed away from the city
- 0:56to avoid them. No craft, So you know what my thought is today.
- 1:00My thought is today, on the day we celebrate the fact there is
- 1:03no congestion pricing starting, there is a delay. Why do we do this
- 1:10when we have anti Zionists, anti Semites, and a quote quo of Free
- 1:15Palace on protesters rampaging through our city. Find them fifteen to twenty dollars,
- 1:22hell even more for causing this scene outside of a Biden fundraiser the other night,
- 1:30blocking streets, blocking bridges. Find them, not the hard working men
- 1:34and women of New York City who just want to enter the city and maybe
- 1:41have a good time with their family on a weekend, or maybe you really
- 1:42have to take a car into work. See, the city has become so
- 1:47used to in the state, has become so used to punishing the do gooders
- 1:53that the bad ones maybe get arrested but then let out the next day here
- 1:57in the city and the state things to bail for. So why don't we
- 2:02switch that ideology of charging the good people fifteen dollars and just charging those who
- 2:15cause chaos, who blocked the streets, who block the I don't know,
- 2:23bridges and tunnels, Charge them fifteen plus more dollars or more for the resource
- 2:30of the NYPD, by the way, just charge them and find them,
- 2:36not the good doers who are just trying to enter the city under sixtieth Street.
- 2:42We can thank Governor Hokeel today, but I want to take this a
- 2:46step further. Take the money you were gonna charge a fine or charge I
- 2:53guess you'd say, and make it a fine for protesting on city streets,
- 2:59blocking causing the NYPD to use its resources. That's where those fifteen dollars charges
- 3:05should go, not out of the pocket of someone who instantly wants to come
- 3:10into NYC to have a good time or to have to go to work.
- 3:15Not those people. Start charging the ones who simply have nothing better to do
- 3:21than block off traffic for our cause that I find is turning into more anti
- 3:27Semitism than anything else. Did one person get charged and fully prosecuted in Colombia
- 3:40for their actions storming the campus and taking over the campus. No, DA
- 3:46Bragg didn't do that. So maybe Governor Hocal and the state should step in
- 3:52here and say, hey, look, if you're going to block our city
- 3:53streets in our beloved New York City, if you're gonna take over our campuses,
- 4:00we're gonna charge you for that. It's not just gonna be an arrest
- 4:02and the desk ticket and whatnot. We're gonna charge you for that. Now,
- 4:08here's why the MTA is so pissed about this congestion price and not going
- 4:12through. Apparently, according to the Associated Press, the transit budget is short
- 4:16sixteen billion dollars. That's why they wanted so badly. Well, maybe if
- 4:23you, I had to say, but cut the overtimes and really make sure
- 4:28no overtime fraud is going on on your in your transit bureau. And maybe
- 4:38if you didn't keep you know, you have to cut the fat at the
- 4:46MTA. What I'm trying to say, not charge right, not charge innocent
- 4:56people, more fare hikes, more tolls, more congestion pricing. That's not
- 5:04the answer, General Leeber who says, we don't gage it. In theatrics
- 5:14this also cut off, by the way, and the board did vote ten
- 5:20to one, I believe, to stop the congestion pricing from going in.
- 5:25So we know how the MTA board fields, right, We know how the
- 5:29MTA board fields, by the way. And they also said that they had
- 5:40no power to reverse Hokal's decision. State law establishing congestion pricing requires a sign
- 5:46off from a transportation department. The MDAs now we have to slash its capital
- 5:53budget by at least thirty percent, and which justmates lost revenues, some costs,
- 6:00and potentially lost funding federal funding. They also said it's gonna stop.
- 6:09This was interesting. Stop the second Avenue line, which of course has been
- 6:13a huge deal right where they can continue the Second Avenue line past ninety sixth
- 6:18Street. Now they can't keep that STUMI line expanding as well as other maintenance
- 6:27improvement projects become sixteen and a half billion dollars. A shortfell here, but
- 6:34I do believe the mt did this to themselves, also the MTA and the
- 6:41pandemic. But the MTA did this to themselves time and time again, and
- 6:54they need to face that music too. But as far as the state goes
- 7:00in delaying this, take it a step further. Maneuver it so that those
- 7:03who want to block our bridges, tunnels and streets of New York get charged
- 7:09that fifteen dollars or more, not just a desk ticket where they don't have
- 7:14to show up, but get charged literally charged an amount fined if you will.
- 7:23Do they ever get fined. I don't think they get fined for blocking
- 7:26our bridges and tunnels when they have these massive protests. You know that Savory
- 7:31Palace signed, but also say for anti Semitic things as well. By the
- 7:35way, I'm fired up that there is I'm fired up and thank you that
- 7:44there is no congestion pricing. But you know what we could do next?
- 7:47And John katz Matias just retweeting me. Thank you John for saying this.
- 7:53You know what can do next? Take it a step further and punish those
- 7:57who literally block traffic with their cars, but with their vitriol and their vile
- 8:05speech. Specifically nowadays were the Jewish people. Those are the people who should
- 8:09be charged congestion pricing. On the Alex Garrett Podcast Network
