Speaker 1: And now move the sticks with Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks.
• 0:07
Speaker 2: What's up, everybody? Welcome to move the sticks, DJ, Buck
• 0:09
Speaker 2: and as it's going to be on Monday, I could
• 0:12
Speaker 2: not be more fired up about this. Our buddy Baldi's
• 0:14
Speaker 2: in the house, Baldy. What's going on?
• 0:15
Speaker 3: Man, I'm just sitting up here, like in my own
• 0:19
Speaker 3: little bubble here, DJ. You know, third floor NFL film.
• 0:22
  Speaker 3: Nobody bothers me. I don't have any windows. I don't
• 0:24
Speaker 3: know what's going on outside. I'm just in my little
• 0:27
Speaker 3: bubble here, just watching these games and taking my little
• 0:30
Speaker 3: notes and making some videos. Man, I'm having a good time.
• 0:33
Speaker 2: This is sneakily my favorite day of the year, Buck,
• 0:36
Speaker 2: because we always talk about, like the summer, we get
• 0:39
Speaker 2: so tired and sick of Oh this might happen. This
• 0:41
Speaker 2: could happen. Hey, they might be this, they might be that.
• 0:43
Speaker 2: It's like, hey, actually we've got some games. We can
• 0:44
Speaker 2: actually hop on here and talk about what we saw.
• 0:47
Speaker 4: I mean that that is a lot of fun. And
• 0:49
Speaker 4: I feel a little weird, DJ, because you kind of
• 0:52
Speaker 4: made me make a deal with the devil. So here
• 0:54
Speaker 4: I am, I mean over here dealing with a blue
• 0:57
  Speaker 4: deal like that.
• 0:58
  Speaker 3: You know, I don't know. I don't even want to
• 1:04
Speaker 3: go watch Illinois do game Bucky like that was so
• 1:07
  Speaker 3: we're leading.
• 1:08
Speaker 4: Yeah, we're leaning into this stuff or whatever. But that's
• 1:11
Speaker 4: good man, My man, Baldy gonna break it down, has
• 1:13
Speaker 4: all this stuff. It's gonna be fun to have these
• 1:15
  Speaker 4: conversations every Mondy.
• 1:16
  Speaker 3: Yeah.
• 1:17
Speaker 2: And by the way, top on Baldi's breakdowns too, because
• 1:19
Speaker 2: if you want to see some video, it's going to
• 1:20
Speaker 2: company a lot of the conversations we're gonna have on here.
• 1:22
Speaker 2: Baldi's got it on, He's got it on Twitter, He's
• 1:24
Speaker 2: got on Instagram. Baldie, I'm I'm not a TikTok guy?
• 1:27
  Speaker 3: Are you?
• 1:27
Speaker 2: Are you rocking this stuff on TikTok too?
• 1:30
Speaker 3: Forgot on TikTok You're not, like you know, Yeah.
• 1:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, no I'm not. Then I'm not. So you've got
• 1:35
Speaker 2: me there. So check out all Baldi stuff. It's fantastic
• 1:37
Speaker 2: Baldis breakdowns. Let's let's get wrong. I want to get
• 1:40
Speaker 2: into this stuff here. First game game of that it
• 1:42
  Speaker 2: might shoot. I don't know. We're gonna see a better
• 1:44
Speaker 2: game all year long than the Sunday night game we
• 1:45
Speaker 2: saw with Baltimore h in Buffalo, Balbi, I'll give you
• 1:48
Speaker 2: the floor, go wherever you want to go on that one.
• 1:50
Speaker 3: So I mean, look, I'll take the losing end of
• 1:53
Speaker 3: it in Baltimore because I'm not sure what anybody's supposed
• 1:56
Speaker 3: to do to stop this Baltimore offense. And so, like
• 2:00
Speaker 3: I just went and I just watched the wide angle,
• 2:03
Speaker 3: and all they do is look at the safeties, two
• 2:05
Speaker 3: safeties back. Here comes Derrick Henry right once, say like,
• 2:09
Speaker 3: everybody up, try to stop Derrick Henry. You got single high.
• 2:12
Speaker 3: Here comes a Flowers like they couldn't they couldn't figure
• 2:15
Speaker 3: it out. And then if they try to bounce it up,
• 2:19
Speaker 3: then here comes this prestaft motion and misdirection and there
• 2:22
Speaker 3: goes Lamar ten yards for a touchdown. And I felt
• 2:26
Speaker 3: like Buffalo was damned if they did and damned if
• 2:29
Speaker 3: they didn't, you know, I mean like they didn't know
• 2:31
Speaker 3: what to do. And I feel like that's going to
• 2:33
Speaker 3: be most defenses this year. Now forty points one enough
• 2:36
Speaker 3: to win the game, all right, but still, I mean
• 2:39
Speaker 3: it came down, you know, obviously Derek feels bad about
• 2:42
Speaker 3: you know, at Oliver gets the ball out of the
• 2:44
Speaker 3: ground and on the ground. It was a difference in
• 2:46
Speaker 3: the game. But just from that standpoint, you go, how
• 2:49
Speaker 3: does anybody And then if DeAndre Hopkins thows his hand
• 2:52
Speaker 3: up and he's just you know, he's just got the
• 2:54
Speaker 3: golden sticky glove there, like you got that to deal
• 2:57
  Speaker 3: with as well.
• 2:58
Speaker 4: You know, it's funny you talk about Baltimore and I
• 3:00
Speaker 4: think DJ and I've had this conversation about Baltimore. A
• 3:03
Speaker 4: lot of what we want to know about Baltimore we
• 3:06
Speaker 4: won't know until the postseason, presuming that they get there.
• 3:09
Speaker 4: And I've said on here my biggest question with Baltimore
• 3:12
Speaker 4: is do they have the emotional maturity to be a
• 3:15
Speaker 4: championship team in a game like that when you're up
• 3:18
Speaker 4: forty to twenty five. Championship teams close that out regardless
• 3:22
Speaker 4: of the Derrick Henry fumble or whatever. But there is that,
• 3:25
Speaker 4: hey man, we need to finish this game out when
• 3:27
Speaker 4: you have this kind of championship pedigree. And for me,
• 3:31
Speaker 4: I am just wondering, because we've seen this iteration of
• 3:33
Speaker 4: Baltimore four or five years, when do they finally learn
• 3:38
Speaker 4: from all of these heartbreaking lessons to put it together
• 3:41
Speaker 4: and in a game in which they you can say
• 3:44
Speaker 4: they dominated for greater parts of the game in terms
• 3:46
Speaker 4: of their offense and being able to be ahead to
• 3:49
Speaker 4: walk away with a loss. To me, it just brings
• 3:51
Speaker 4: that question up when we see this team play for
• 3:55
Speaker 4: real and all the stakes are on the line, do
• 3:58
Speaker 4: they have the wherewithal to finish out the game like
• 4:00
  Speaker 4: a championship squad?
• 4:01
Speaker 2: Shit, Yeah, I want to hit a little bit on
• 4:03
Speaker 2: what both of you guys said. Then we can kind
• 4:04
Speaker 2: of spin it and get towards Buffalo. But on the
• 4:07
Speaker 2: Baldy point, Zay Flowers to me, look, I know Derek
• 4:09
Speaker 2: Henry rush for a million yards in this game. I
• 4:11
Speaker 2: know Lamar had some crazy plays. You see some of
• 4:14
Speaker 2: the scrambles where he's retreating poor guy. Feel bad for
• 4:16
Speaker 2: Joey Bosey. He couldn't get the guy on the ground.
• 4:18
Speaker 2: I mean he had had him dead to rights a
• 4:20
Speaker 2: couple of times, couldn't get him on the ground. But
• 4:21
Speaker 2: you think Dereck Henry take Lamar. They're their own thing,
• 4:23
Speaker 2: and I don't want it to be just because it's
• 4:25
Speaker 2: gotten stale because we've seen so much of them. But man,
• 4:28
Speaker 2: I watched Jay Flowers and I went back through and
• 4:30
Speaker 2: just looked what he was doing, and that was the
• 4:33
Speaker 2: thing that stood out to me more than anything else
• 4:34
Speaker 2: on that on that Baltimore offense, you go through and
• 4:37
Speaker 2: look at just the balls and the targets, the opportunities
• 4:39
Speaker 2: he got, the different ways that he can impact you.
• 4:42
Speaker 2: You'll see deep ends. You'll see they use him on
• 4:45
Speaker 2: speed shovel. Let's get the ball in his hands, they
• 4:46
Speaker 2: hit a tunnel screen for a touchdown. You get him,
• 4:49
Speaker 2: You get him run on some of those mesh concepts
• 4:51
Speaker 2: underneath where you just pick a guy off by a millimeter.
• 4:53
  Speaker 2: He's gone. I'm watching him going, like I it's sacrilegious
• 4:57
Speaker 2: to compare some of these guys to all time great players,
• 4:59
Speaker 2: but it's hard for me to watch a guy in
• 5:00
Speaker 2: a Baltimore uniform do that and not think of Steve
• 5:02
Speaker 2: Smith with the way with the way he can stop
• 5:05
Speaker 2: and start, and how explosive and dynamic he was. But
• 5:07
Speaker 2: I wanted to give Zay Flowers his love because I
• 5:09
Speaker 2: think he's gonna have a monster, monster year this year.
• 5:13
Speaker 2: I thought they to Bucky's point, I thought they got
• 5:15
Speaker 2: vanilla at the end. You know, I want that ball
• 5:18
Speaker 2: in Lamar's hands. I mean, they just kind of ran
• 5:20
Speaker 2: the ball into the line of scrimmage and ran into
• 5:22
Speaker 2: a mush of bodies, which was kind of the opposite
• 5:25
Speaker 2: of what they've done all day long of making Buffalo
• 5:27
Speaker 2: have to think and react. They kind of dumbed it
• 5:29
Speaker 2: down at the end of the game, and we talk
• 5:31
Speaker 2: about whether they should have gone forward on fourth down
• 5:33
Speaker 2: or not. I'm okay with it. I mean to shoot,
• 5:36
Speaker 2: you don't get that the game's over. You already are
• 5:38
Speaker 2: near field goal range. But I just thought I got
• 5:40
Speaker 2: a little bit stale there and then on the other
• 5:42
Speaker 2: side getting the Buffalo Baldi. We were talking before we
• 5:45
Speaker 2: came on, like, I like Justin Herbert's unbelievable. Justin Herbert
• 5:49
Speaker 2: can make a mazillion throws and he's got the size
• 5:51
Speaker 2: and the arms, strength and the talent. Like for Justin
• 5:53
Speaker 2: Herbert to go to the next level for the Chargers,
• 5:55
Speaker 2: he needs to adopt some of the borderline cockiness arrogance
• 6:00
Speaker 2: that Josh has for some of the throw's body. These
• 6:02
Speaker 2: are throws that people don't attempt, and he makes it
• 6:05
  Speaker 2: with conviction.
• 6:06
Speaker 3: Well, the first the first touchdown of the season is
• 6:09
Speaker 3: the Dalton Kincave and this the safeties are sitting it's
• 6:12
Speaker 3: ten ten toes in the goal line. You know, Malachi
• 6:15
Speaker 3: Starks and Kyle Hamilton are sitting there and they split
• 6:18
Speaker 3: the safeties and he just rifles it like a lot
• 6:21
Speaker 3: of most quarterbacks aren't attempting that throw in the middle
• 6:23
Speaker 3: of the field, and he put it right where Dalton
• 6:25
Speaker 3: could Cave could body. He did it again later in
• 6:28
Speaker 3: the game down to the goal line, like he's just fearless.
• 6:34
Speaker 3: And you know, I was saying, like, uh, you know,
• 6:38
Speaker 3: he every single big throw he makes is off a
• 6:41
Speaker 3: movement until it's not off a movement and he just
• 6:44
Speaker 3: hits his third step and he just rifles it to
• 6:46
Speaker 3: the sideline. The throw to Josh Palmer at the end
• 6:49
Speaker 3: of the game like over the top, like to get
• 6:51
Speaker 3: him down there, like it was an incredible throw on
• 6:53
Speaker 3: the move, but it was just it's just like it
• 6:56
Speaker 3: felt like it was already a highlight film of the
• 7:00
Speaker 3: throws that he made yesterday. I must have counted at
• 7:02
Speaker 3: least at least ten or twelve throws of fifteen yards
• 7:06
Speaker 3: more where he's just like it's just a rifle shot.
• 7:10
Speaker 4: You know, what's unbelievable about Josh Allen is not only
• 7:14
Speaker 4: the maturity and the evolution of kind of watching him
• 7:17
Speaker 4: go from being the wild gun slinger coming out Wyoming
• 7:20
Speaker 4: to being an MVP who has been able to elevate
• 7:24
Speaker 4: the players around him, because remember he started on his
• 7:27
Speaker 4: ascension when Stefan Diggs were there and they were to
• 7:30
Speaker 4: rely heavily on him being kind of the centerpiece of
• 7:33
Speaker 4: the offense. He gets to the point where you remove
• 7:35
Speaker 4: Stefan Diggs and his game has gone through the roof.
• 7:38
Speaker 4: Like He's always been special in terms of the athleticism
• 7:41
Speaker 4: and running and throwing on and off platform, but the
• 7:45
Speaker 4: last year and some change, he has been next level
• 7:49
Speaker 4: when it comes to his ability to put the cape
• 7:52
Speaker 4: on and use it when needed and then sometimes just
• 7:56
Speaker 4: be Clark Kent. And I think what we want to
• 7:58
Speaker 4: see from all of our superstars is they don't necessarily
• 8:02
Speaker 4: have to play at that level all the time, but
• 8:04
Speaker 4: when needed, they can jump in the phone booth. And
• 8:07
Speaker 4: I am more amazed at Josh Allen's ability to do
• 8:11
Speaker 4: it in a calm, cool composed manner. I would say,
• 8:15
Speaker 4: probably than anybody else I've seen in terms of evolving
• 8:19
Speaker 4: from this wild playmaker to being a guy that can
• 8:23
Speaker 4: kind of play on and off the script and use
• 8:25
Speaker 4: his superpowers when needed. He's amazing and his growth has
• 8:30
Speaker 4: kind of changed the way and DJ we've talked about this.
• 8:33
Speaker 4: Josh Allen, Lamark Jackson changed the way that we looked
• 8:35
  Speaker 4: at quarterbacks.
• 8:36
Speaker 2: It went from being through.
• 8:38
Speaker 4: Fromme tou they what they can't do too well they
• 8:42
Speaker 4: could and it's just amazing to do that. So look
• 8:46
Speaker 4: all the credit in the world to Josh Allen because
• 8:49
Speaker 4: this dude consistently puts the Bill's opposite.
• 8:51
Speaker 3: Well, Josh, Josh said it at the end of the
• 8:53
Speaker 3: game Buck, he said, like, you never count us out.
• 8:55
Speaker 3: We're playing sixteen minutes now, like you know, they're down fifteen,
• 8:59
Speaker 3: like it's late fourth quarter, and here they come.
• 9:02
Speaker 2: I mean they needed a gift though, Baldi, they needed
• 9:04
Speaker 2: and they got one.
• 9:05
Speaker 3: They got the gift, they got the ball you know
• 9:07
Speaker 3: that's twenty and they capitalized on it too now, but yeah,
• 9:11
Speaker 3: they got what they needed for the defense. But that's
• 9:14
Speaker 3: all they needed and that was enough now.
• 9:16
Speaker 2: So coming into this game, one of the topics we
• 9:18
Speaker 2: had talked about for the whole offseason was comparing Buffalo
• 9:21
Speaker 2: with the other, you know, premier teams, and really I
• 9:23
Speaker 2: think we focused in on Baltimore and it's like, Okay,
• 9:25
Speaker 2: we get the great quarterbacks, MVP quarterbacks, but man, the
• 9:28
Speaker 2: weaponry uh that Baltimore has just seems far superior to
• 9:32
Speaker 2: what they're playing with in Buffalo. And I come out
• 9:33
Speaker 2: of this game going, Okay, Kink looks like he's got
• 9:36
Speaker 2: his legs back underneath him. He looks like he's the
• 9:38
Speaker 2: player I got super excited about when he was coming
• 9:40
Speaker 2: into the draft process. I'll get to him, Shakir. You know,
• 9:43
Speaker 2: they've got like a nice connection and the toughness that
• 9:46
Speaker 2: he brings. He's got Aman Ross Saint Brown light up there,
• 9:49
Speaker 2: so that's a nice piece. But Keon Coleman's the one
• 9:51
Speaker 2: that I wanted to dig in on because he had
• 9:52
Speaker 2: the big game. So when I went back and just
• 9:54
Speaker 2: looked at his stuff, Baldy, this is the guy with
• 9:56
Speaker 2: the basketball player background and that's the way he plays.
• 10:00
Speaker 2: He's not the most refined guy, but you can throw
• 10:02
Speaker 2: a whole shot. He climbs the ladder and goes up
• 10:05
Speaker 2: and gets it and gets you know, drilled holds onto
• 10:07
Speaker 2: the ball. You get the skinny posts at the end
• 10:09
Speaker 2: of the game, which was really kind of the game winner.
• 10:11
Speaker 2: He makes a big play there. He just kind of
• 10:14
Speaker 2: finds space. He kind of works in space. You're not
• 10:16
Speaker 2: looking at somebody who's elite getting out of breaks and
• 10:18
Speaker 2: all that stuff. But you want to you want to
• 10:20
Speaker 2: play soft Kevin Dodd just running out on you and
• 10:21
Speaker 2: we'll go pluck the ball real naturally and smooth. But
• 10:24
Speaker 2: he's a key piece for them. I mean, he played
• 10:26
Speaker 2: really really well, and they figured out how to use
• 10:28
Speaker 2: him and not ask him to do stuff he's not
• 10:29
  Speaker 2: good at.
• 10:30
Speaker 3: Well, he's excellent low post basketball now, you know, I
• 10:33
Speaker 3: mean you just feed him. You know. He knows how
• 10:35
Speaker 3: to use his body, knows how to shield people, he
• 10:37
Speaker 3: knows how to catch the ball with his hands, and
• 10:39
  Speaker 3: so he's got like I don't think he's ever going
• 10:42
Speaker 3: to be a router, you know, and he's not really
• 10:44
Speaker 3: going to run by people, but everything else like, and
• 10:48
Speaker 3: he's becoming dependable and they're going to him. And in
• 10:51
Speaker 3: a number of those big spots yesterday he came up
• 10:54
Speaker 3: with a big catch.
• 10:56
Speaker 2: It's funny to go ahead, go ahead book.
• 10:57
Speaker 4: No last thing, I think every we've talked about like
• 11:00
Speaker 4: wide receiver corps being like a basketball team. Every wide
• 11:04
Speaker 4: receiver cord needs one player that's like a Kian Koman,
• 11:07
Speaker 4: a big body ball catching someone that you just throw
• 11:10
Speaker 4: it up and they go get it. It's not always
• 11:12
Speaker 4: pretty and refined, but his superior size and athleticism and
• 11:16
Speaker 4: just terrific ball skills makes him a threat wherever he is,
• 11:19
Speaker 4: So even when he's covered, he's wide open.
• 11:23
  Speaker 2: Let's let's that's a great point. Let's get to the
• 11:24
Speaker 2: next one here. This was the theme of this next game. Buck.
• 11:28
Speaker 2: Literally one man's trash is another man's treasure was literally
• 11:31
Speaker 2: on display in Pittsburgh. They take the two quarterbacks that
• 11:33
Speaker 2: neither of them really liked all that much. They switched teams,
• 11:36
Speaker 2: and they literally played as good as we've seen either
• 11:38
Speaker 2: one of those guys play fields maybe ever. That might
• 11:40
Speaker 2: have been the best game I've ever seen him play.
• 11:42
Speaker 2: He was awesome. And then and then Aaron the best
• 11:45
Speaker 2: we've seen of him since he left the Green Bay Packers.
• 11:49
Speaker 4: And look, there's something there's a saying that that that
• 11:52
Speaker 4: people will throw out there go whey to celebrate it,
• 11:55
Speaker 4: not tolerateed. And in both instances, both guys being acquired,
• 11:59
Speaker 4: they were celebrated by those organizations, and in celebrating them,
• 12:03
Speaker 4: they're willing to build around them and their talents. First,
• 12:06
Speaker 4: you talk about Justin Fields and how Aaron Glenn had
• 12:09
Speaker 4: first in knowledge about the difficulty and the challenge that
• 12:12
Speaker 4: Justin Fields can bring as a dual threat quarterback, and
• 12:14
Speaker 4: he wanted him to lean into those abilities and pairing
• 12:18
Speaker 4: him with an old college teammate and Garrett Wilson where
• 12:21
Speaker 4: he was comfortable and doing those things. We saw that
• 12:24
Speaker 4: playout through our training camp and all of that, but
• 12:26
Speaker 4: then allowing him to be the athlete that he is.
• 12:29
Speaker 4: That was terrific. And for Aaron Rodgers, the conversations that
• 12:32
Speaker 4: I had with some of the people in the Steelers
• 12:33
Speaker 4: were they wanted someone who had that edginess in the
• 12:36
Speaker 4: quarterback room, and they talked about this openly. It's a
• 12:40
Speaker 4: difference having a Hall of Famer in the quarterback room
• 12:43
Speaker 4: and what he brings and the swag and the confidence
• 12:46
Speaker 4: that they get from him being there, even though he's
• 12:48
Speaker 4: a lesser version of the four time MVP. It's working
• 12:52
Speaker 4: for Pittsburgh now, just like it's working for the Jets.
• 12:55
Speaker 4: Think about Pittsburgh is how do you preserve Aaron Rodgers
• 12:59
Speaker 4: so that he is still playing great down the end
• 13:01
Speaker 4: of the season. That's the medi other question.
• 13:03
Speaker 3: You know, it's interesting Bucket. I stopped the film at
• 13:06
Speaker 3: least three different times where he got absolutely due. I mean,
• 13:11
Speaker 3: Coldon Williams hit him one time and I just saw
• 13:14
Speaker 3: it was like crash test, dummy stuff. I just saw
• 13:16
Speaker 3: his head stap and I'm going, that's forty one year
• 13:19
Speaker 3: old Aaron Rockets. That's not like not many guys survived
• 13:23
Speaker 3: some of the hits he took in that pocket. And
• 13:26
Speaker 3: so you know, people, can you know, put labels on
• 13:30
Speaker 3: Aaron quirky whatever you want to do, like that guy
• 13:32
Speaker 3: is as tough as they come out. Can he survive
• 13:34
Speaker 3: you know, the season getting hit like that.
• 13:38
Speaker 2: You know, Roderick Jones to that point, by the way, Yeah.
• 13:41
Speaker 3: Well, I mean Will McDonald had his way over there.
• 13:45
Speaker 3: You know, it's an issue. It's an issue, DJ. I mean,
• 13:49
Speaker 3: they drafted roder Jones high and they wanted him to
• 13:52
Speaker 3: be the left tackle, and he's there. Dan Moore was
• 13:54
Speaker 3: not good. They let him fly, but they got to
• 13:57
Speaker 3: get better at that position, no question. The Justin Fields
• 14:01
Speaker 3: thing was amazing. I saw him in a scrimmage against
• 14:04
Speaker 3: the Jets two weeks ago and I thought, oh my gosh,
• 14:08
Speaker 3: poor Garrett Wilson like he's never going to get the ball.
• 14:11
Speaker 3: And you know they designed some offense. The first touchdown
• 14:14
Speaker 3: deep cross with Josh Reynolds. I mean they gave him
• 14:17
Speaker 3: good time, good protection, and he laid. I mean that
• 14:21
Speaker 3: was a perfect throw to Garrett Wilson. A lot of
• 14:23
Speaker 3: guys missed that shot. He's almost too open, but he
• 14:25
Speaker 3: threw him open. Garrett really Justin Well, he had a
• 14:28
Speaker 3: great day. But I thought Justin Field's played it as
• 14:32
Speaker 3: well as he was under control, he was athletic, he
• 14:36
Speaker 3: saw the field surprisingly well, breaking the pocket. It was
• 14:40
Speaker 3: very encouraging for any Jet fan to watch Justin Field's play.
• 14:44
Speaker 2: Yes, I'd be fired up. Farre a Jets fan. And
• 14:47
Speaker 2: the word this is the word that I really honed
• 14:49
Speaker 2: in on here the last couple of years with quarterbacks,
• 14:51
Speaker 2: and I think there's really something to it. I mentioned
• 14:54
Speaker 2: a little bit earlier. He played with conviction. No, it's
• 14:57
Speaker 2: not only enough to see something. You've got to trust
• 15:00
Speaker 2: and there's no hesitation or no pause. He was there
• 15:03
Speaker 2: was There were some first raid throws in there where
• 15:05
Speaker 2: he said, hey, this is the look I got. I
• 15:06
Speaker 2: like what I get. Boom, Ball's gone on time. Mind you,
• 15:09
Speaker 2: first part of the game with gloves, second part of
• 15:11
Speaker 2: the game without gloves. I don't know why he switched
• 15:13
Speaker 2: it up, but it was nice it went from the
• 15:14
Speaker 2: gloves and the no gloves. But then there are other
• 15:17
Speaker 2: times Man he was getting front side to backside and
• 15:19
Speaker 2: then again once he saw it trusted at Boom working
• 15:22
Speaker 2: in the middle of the field. He wasn't just working
• 15:23
Speaker 2: on the edges in the perimeter like you get in
• 15:25
Speaker 2: the mud. In the middle of the field a little bit.
• 15:27
Speaker 2: You got to trust your eyes and trust what you're seeing.
• 15:29
Speaker 2: And he threw the ball. It was firm, it was accurate,
• 15:32
Speaker 2: like it was as good as I've seen him play,
• 15:34
Speaker 2: and it reminded me of kind of the Ohio State
• 15:36
Speaker 2: version of him where he played with confidence, and that
• 15:39
Speaker 2: was if he plays like that. And Baldy, you had
• 15:41
Speaker 2: talked talked about this a little bit when we were
• 15:44
Speaker 2: chatting this morning, and I thought it held up in
• 15:46
Speaker 2: the tape too. Like Membo played well, Tipman played well.
• 15:49
Speaker 2: Like they've accumulated a lot of good pieces. Fashanu was
• 15:52
Speaker 2: outstanding at left tackle in the run game, in the
• 15:55
Speaker 2: pass game, like they've invested a lot in this offensive
• 15:58
Speaker 2: line and it looks like they might actually have one. Now.
• 16:00
Speaker 3: Well, the question honestly this week was okay, Olivia Tucker
• 16:03
Speaker 3: goes down. Everybody's like, there, here goes the Jets. But
• 16:06
Speaker 3: I thought I saw Tipman play guard in preseason games
• 16:10
Speaker 3: with Josh Myers at center, and I thought at that
• 16:13
  Speaker 3: time when I watched Tipman, I think he's a better
• 16:15
Speaker 3: guard than center. And after watching him yesterday, especially the
• 16:18
Speaker 3: movement he got at the point of attack, and that's
• 16:21
Speaker 3: up against you know, Benton and against Hayward and some
• 16:24
Speaker 3: of those guys inside, Like, I thought Tipman might be
• 16:27
Speaker 3: a better guard than he is a center, and Josh
• 16:30
Speaker 3: Myers is fine, So I don't feel like it's obviously
• 16:34
Speaker 3: there's a depth concern there. You lose a great player
• 16:37
Speaker 3: and you know, trickles down. But I thought Tipman and
• 16:39
Speaker 3: Myers played really well in their spots yesterday.
• 16:42
Speaker 2: Buck real quick. I want to get to DK because
• 16:45
Speaker 2: again watching that DK, not only did he make some
• 16:48
Speaker 2: explosive plays, there were seven. I think we're seven explosive plays.
• 16:51
Speaker 2: DK had three, Calvin Austin had three, but you get
• 16:54
Speaker 2: DK through Calvin Austin's three. Two of them are because
• 16:57
Speaker 2: of DK, where DK's running off coverage and taking bodies
• 17:00
Speaker 2: and Calvin Austin gets loose. The other one was they
• 17:02
Speaker 2: lined him up, which is awesome play design, in between
• 17:04
Speaker 2: the tight end and the tackle and they kind of
• 17:06
Speaker 2: almost like an elevator screen in basketball. They kind of
• 17:08
Speaker 2: fan out. He gets up in between them and they
• 17:10
Speaker 2: kind of hit him on a little almost many wheel
• 17:12
Speaker 2: there for a touchdown. But I think DK's presence was
• 17:15
Speaker 2: felt in that game, not only when he was getting
• 17:16
Speaker 2: the ball, but just just having him out there opens
• 17:18
Speaker 2: things up for everybody else.
• 17:20
  Speaker 3: You know.
• 17:20
Speaker 4: It's funny and talking to those guys during the preseason,
• 17:23
Speaker 4: like Mike Tomlin has openly talked about how they needed
• 17:26
Speaker 4: some guys with a little edginess. They wanted to get
• 17:28
Speaker 4: back to being the Steelers. DJU obviously are familiar with
• 17:30
Speaker 4: the Steelers, haven't been with the Ravens for so long,
• 17:33
Speaker 4: and we know that they're at their best when they
• 17:35
Speaker 4: have a handful of guys that I would say are
• 17:37
Speaker 4: wired a little differently than everybody else. And when I
• 17:40
Speaker 4: look at this team with Dk Metcalf and the way
• 17:43
Speaker 4: that he is feisty and feroches on the perimeter, I
• 17:45
Speaker 4: think about Aaron Rodgers and what he brings in terms
• 17:47
Speaker 4: of his temperament and personality, Jalen Ramsey coming over making
• 17:51
Speaker 4: a big hit at the end, and some of the
• 17:53
Speaker 4: other guys that they've added to the thing. Darius Slay
• 17:56
Speaker 4: has a little bit of that to me. Even though
• 17:59
Speaker 4: they would say deep abstlee, they didn't play to the
• 18:01
Speaker 4: brand the person Kneil. They look and feel like Steelers
• 18:06
Speaker 4: and that makes them a dangerous team provided they're able
• 18:09
Speaker 4: to stay healthy at some of those key spots.
• 18:12
Speaker 2: Let's uh, let's take a quick break here when jump
• 18:14
Speaker 2: back in, I want to hit to uh Washington Giants, Ballda,
• 18:17
Speaker 2: I know you're cooking with gas on that and we'll
• 18:19
Speaker 2: get to that right after this, all right, Baldy, Uh yeah,
• 18:25
Speaker 2: feel free. You want to go good Washington, You want
• 18:27
Speaker 2: to go bad Giants? Your your call.
• 18:29
Speaker 3: Let's go good Washington because well, Giants kept in the
• 18:33
Speaker 3: game for a long time, and you know that the
• 18:36
Speaker 3: offense is dreadful. I thought Washington consistently moved the football,
• 18:42
Speaker 3: and you know it's just good to go, you know,
• 18:45
Speaker 3: to Northwest Stadium and just see that place jumping because
• 18:48
Speaker 3: it's been a while. But I mean Jadon Daniels. You
• 18:51
  Speaker 3: can't we when we well never, I don't think we're
• 18:55
Speaker 3: gonna run out of superlatives. You can't like the guy
• 18:58
Speaker 3: is just so calm. He he seized the field amazingly. Well,
• 19:01
Speaker 3: they dropped a lot of his passes yesterday. I mean
• 19:04
Speaker 3: zach Ertz dropped one and McLaurin dropped him. You know,
• 19:08
Speaker 3: they all dropped passes. But I thought he played spectacular.
• 19:13
Speaker 3: And then you look at the run game and this
• 19:17
Speaker 3: guy Bill Okay, like this kid, I mean he popped
• 19:23
Speaker 3: and he didn't start Austin Hechler starter. But this kid
• 19:26
Speaker 3: came in and you know, you talked to some of
• 19:28
Speaker 3: the guys there, Adam George whatever, they all said that
• 19:33
Speaker 3: he was the best back, and he showed it yesterday.
• 19:35
Speaker 3: His pop and his vision and his cutting was just elite.
• 19:39
Speaker 3: And so they got they got a good thing from
• 19:42
Speaker 3: the run game. And then on the other side, they
• 19:45
Speaker 3: were the thirtieth ranks rush defense football and it was
• 19:47
Speaker 3: a big weakness and they went out and they got
• 19:50
Speaker 3: you know, they got a bunch of different guys that
• 19:52
Speaker 3: come in and you look at what they did yesterday.
• 19:57
Speaker 3: Javon came in and you look at you know, wis
• 20:00
Speaker 3: Dietrich wise, Like, they added some bodies and they played
• 20:04
Speaker 3: great run defense. Yesterday the Giants they couldn't score from
• 20:08
Speaker 3: first and goal with the one they couldn't score like,
• 20:11
Speaker 3: they won the line of scrimmage up front, and it
• 20:14
Speaker 3: was pretty impressive for what they did.
• 20:17
Speaker 4: When I think about what the commanders are and what
• 20:21
Speaker 4: they could be with Jayden Daniels, I think about the
• 20:23
Speaker 4: weapons that they added, being able to have more firepower
• 20:26
Speaker 4: on the perimeter. You think about Debo, you have Terry
• 20:28
Speaker 4: coming back, but also you talk about Bill Little Bill
• 20:31
Speaker 4: as they talk about him being able to have that
• 20:33
Speaker 4: explosive element in the backfield and then putting it together,
• 20:36
Speaker 4: and I would say, by no means was just like
• 20:38
Speaker 4: a classic vintage Washington performance. But you can already see
• 20:42
Speaker 4: the potential in terms of what they could be. And
• 20:44
Speaker 4: I just think and I firmly believe this division between
• 20:47
Speaker 4: Philly and Washington, like the arms race that is being
• 20:50
Speaker 4: created in the offseason and how they continue to play out.
• 20:53
Speaker 4: I just can't wait to continue to see the evolution
• 20:55
Speaker 4: of this offense and the maturation of Jayden Daniels. You
• 20:59
Speaker 4: always worried that second year when they come back to
• 21:02
Speaker 4: the back after the league spends the year kind of
• 21:04
Speaker 4: picking apart the game. I just kind of want to
• 21:07
Speaker 4: continue to see how does he count the counters that
• 21:09
Speaker 4: are going to be used at him, and how does
• 21:11
Speaker 4: Cliff Kingsbury get him to continue to play at the
• 21:14
Speaker 4: high level that he's playing at right now.
• 21:16
Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, you guys are on it. I mean,
• 21:18
Speaker 2: Bill crossky merit. It's It's one thing when you're like, Okay,
• 21:24
Speaker 2: this guy accumulated some stuff. It's another thing when you
• 21:26
Speaker 2: pop on the video and you're like, oh that looks different,
• 21:29
Speaker 2: like that stop, start and then just burst like he
• 21:32
Speaker 2: had big time burst. And I don't think it's it
• 21:36
Speaker 2: might already be here. He's their most talent running back.
• 21:38
  Speaker 2: I don't think that's even a debate. And I think
• 21:40
Speaker 2: he's going to be their feature guy, you know, going
• 21:42
Speaker 2: forward for the rest of the year. I'm excited to
• 21:43
  Speaker 2: watch him. He's got a real he's got a legit
• 21:45
Speaker 2: shot to be the rookie of the year, like he
• 21:46
Speaker 2: could in this offense. With the weapons that they have
• 21:49
Speaker 2: and the quarterback they have and the offensive line that's upgraded,
• 21:53
Speaker 2: He's going to have an absolute monster year. Baldi, we
• 21:55
Speaker 2: were talking about it. I was watching eighty five with
• 21:59
Speaker 2: Noah Brown on watching him block his butt off, and
• 22:02
Speaker 2: you go all peak baits and I'm like, oh, I
• 22:04
Speaker 2: didn't know Bates's number off top of my head, but
• 22:06
Speaker 2: I think is he eighty Yeah, he's eighty seven. Yeah,
• 22:08
Speaker 2: he's blocking his butt off too. Like it tells you
• 22:10
Speaker 2: the culture of a place when you look at how
• 22:12
Speaker 2: the receivers and the tight end block.
• 22:13
Speaker 3: Yeah. No, I mean John Bates at number eighty seven
• 22:17
  Speaker 3: for Washington. He is a he's a great he's a
• 22:20
Speaker 3: great blocker. And he's and Cliff. It's interesting, you know,
• 22:24
Speaker 3: so Cliff comes out of the Big twelve and Texas
• 22:27
Speaker 3: Tech and never saw a tight end in his entire life.
• 22:30
Speaker 3: Now he knows how to use these tight ends. Amazing,
• 22:33
Speaker 3: how he's evolved and how he'll have you know, zach
• 22:37
Speaker 3: Ertz out there, he's still doing his thing somehow, and
• 22:39
Speaker 3: his thirteenth year, zach Ertz is still winning one on
• 22:42
Speaker 3: ones and scoring touchdowns and you know he's gonna fall
• 22:45
Speaker 3: down as soon as he catches it, but it's just
• 22:47
Speaker 3: gonna be in the end zone. But John, Yeah, this
• 22:50
Speaker 3: John Bates is a great blocker at the point of attack.
• 22:52
Speaker 3: They ask him to do a lot of different things.
• 22:54
Speaker 3: He's in motion, he's ceiling, you know, the split zones.
• 22:58
Speaker 3: He's really good at what he does, and they really
• 23:00
Speaker 3: take advantage of it. And so they got a strong
• 23:03
Speaker 3: side attack, whether it's Jade Daniels or Crosskey Merritt, whoever's running,
• 23:07
Speaker 3: and they ran a countertrait like Joe Gibbs to be
• 23:11
Speaker 3: really proud of, you know, to thinking it's Russ Grimm
• 23:13
Speaker 3: and Joe Jacobe pulling on the backside, and you know,
• 23:17
Speaker 3: Bates got the key block on the linebacker buried him
• 23:20
Speaker 3: and Crosskey Merritt scored on the play, and I just thought, like,
• 23:23
Speaker 3: where's the hogs when you when you do that's what?
• 23:27
  Speaker 4: Hey?
• 23:27
Speaker 2: Buck, who's starting a quarterback for the Giants next week?
• 23:30
Speaker 2: As we record this?
• 23:31
Speaker 4: Look, man, I think Russell gets one more than eventually
• 23:34
Speaker 4: to go aheaded to Jackson Dart.
• 23:36
Speaker 2: You'll take the under on that.
• 23:38
Speaker 4: Oh okay, well, inside information.
• 23:41
Speaker 2: No, no, there's no inside information.
• 23:43
  Speaker 4: I'm just it's interesting.
• 23:45
Speaker 1: But before he answered, like yesterday, Ian reported before the
• 23:49
Speaker 1: game that Jackson Dart was going to have a package
• 23:52
Speaker 1: of place for him, and I saw him down the
• 23:54
Speaker 1: field and he didn't say no.
• 23:56
Speaker 3: When I asked him about it, he didn't say yes,
• 23:59
Speaker 3: but he did shut it down by any stretch. And
• 24:01
Speaker 3: then he didn't get on the field, And I kept
• 24:03
Speaker 3: looking on the sideline going how much longer you're going
• 24:05
  Speaker 3: to watch this.
• 24:07
Speaker 2: Wilson as an offensive head coach?
• 24:10
Speaker 3: You're an offensive coach walking.
• 24:12
Speaker 4: It's brutal. Look, man, it's been like that. But they
• 24:15
Speaker 4: knew that when they signed it. And so it's one
• 24:19
Speaker 4: of those things like if you are da've all like, like,
• 24:22
Speaker 4: how long are we going to go with this? Because
• 24:24
Speaker 4: he was brought in and hired as head coach where
• 24:26
Speaker 4: his offensive widgery wizardry, but we're not seeing any of that.
• 24:29
Speaker 4: And the more that I see elite neighbors on the
• 24:31
Speaker 4: sideline getting mad and fed up and frustrated, Like it's
• 24:34
Speaker 4: a lot to manage and I don't know if Jackson
• 24:37
Speaker 4: darts could be the answer to managing that, but it's
• 24:40
Speaker 4: an issue and they got to figure out what's going
• 24:42
  Speaker 4: to happen.
• 24:42
Speaker 3: Well, it's interesting. So you know, Milik and Jake Daniels
• 24:45
Speaker 3: are literally best friends, so like they can't before the game,
• 24:49
Speaker 3: after the game, like they're hugging. But I'm sure Malik
• 24:53
Speaker 3: is watching Jaye Daniels get the ball till his whole
• 24:56
Speaker 3: fleet of receivers, and he's like, that's all I want.
• 25:00
Speaker 3: That's all I want is a guy that could get
• 25:01
Speaker 3: me the ball. And the only thing they can really
• 25:03
Speaker 3: do to Malik right now in this offense is throw
• 25:05
Speaker 3: jump balls to him, which he's great at. And he
• 25:08
Speaker 3: caught a couple, and they probably should have flagged a
• 25:10
Speaker 3: couple of interference penalties on Marshall Lattimore or you know,
• 25:14
Speaker 3: Trey Angs on some plays. It looks like it to me,
• 25:17
Speaker 3: but I'm sure Malik is just watching this like a
• 25:20
Speaker 3: lot of these guys just give me a quarterback and
• 25:22
Speaker 3: get me a ball, like we're down in a goal line,
• 25:24
Speaker 3: like I should be scoring here, and they can't rEFInd
• 25:27
  Speaker 3: him right now.
• 25:28
Speaker 2: All right, Calvin just put in the chat as we're
• 25:30
Speaker 2: talking here that Ian had tweeted the day Ball announced
• 25:34
Speaker 2: Russell Wilson will start Sunday versus the Cowboys. I have
• 25:37
Speaker 2: not seen a tweet that said if he will finish
• 25:39
Speaker 2: versus the Cowboys. Yea, so we'll see. I know he's
• 25:42
Speaker 2: not as an offensive head coach who's in a gotta
• 25:45
Speaker 2: have it year to maintain employment. I cannot imagine he
• 25:49
Speaker 2: watches four more quarters of what he watched, but there's
• 25:52
Speaker 2: no way you start rest. But if that Jay he
• 25:55
Speaker 2: finishes that game, do.
• 25:56
Speaker 3: You think that the conversation is being had with Kafka
• 25:59
Speaker 3: and Marya, the whole group over there, and they're saying, boy,
• 26:02
Speaker 3: if we make to switch now this is a panic move,
• 26:04
Speaker 3: or you say the hell with the panic move. This
• 26:06
Speaker 3: gives ourselves the best chance to win.
• 26:09
Speaker 2: We got to be we gotta be playing, and more importantly,
• 26:12
Speaker 2: this rookie quarterback needs to be getting better and playing
• 26:15
Speaker 2: well at the end of the year. So to me,
• 26:17
Speaker 2: if you look at their schedule, it is murderer's row.
• 26:19
Speaker 2: You can say, oh, we're going to what where you
• 26:21
Speaker 2: gonna slide him in? It's one freaking a head knocker
• 26:23
Speaker 2: after another after another after another. So my thing is, okay,
• 26:27
Speaker 2: there's two things that you have to be buck to
• 26:29
Speaker 2: get on the field as a rookie quarterback, and that
• 26:32
Speaker 2: is mentally and physically tough, because you're gonna they're gonna
• 26:35
Speaker 2: get hit because they're going to come after him, and
• 26:37
Speaker 2: then you're gonna have failure. So to me, from what
• 26:40
Speaker 2: we know and we spent time around him. I did
• 26:42
Speaker 2: all my homework on Jackson Dart. I know for a
• 26:44
Speaker 2: fact he passes the physically tough part of it, and
• 26:46
Speaker 2: everything that I've heard about him in my interactions with him,
• 26:49
Speaker 2: I think he's mentally strong enough to be able to
• 26:51
Speaker 2: handle a little failure that's going to come his way.
• 26:53
Speaker 2: But get him out there, get him up and running,
• 26:54
Speaker 2: so that by the end of the year he's playing
• 26:56
Speaker 2: some good ball and we can all run this thing back.
• 26:58
Speaker 4: You know, here's the thing. I think it all depends
• 27:01
Speaker 4: on how the conversation is shaped between head, coach, front office,
• 27:04
Speaker 4: and ownership. Like, if you have I don't want to see
• 27:08
Speaker 4: assurances that you're going to be back and this is
• 27:09
Speaker 4: part of a long term plan and process, then I
• 27:12
Speaker 4: probably feel better about putting the young guy out there
• 27:15
Speaker 4: to work through it. But if it's a mix of, hey,
• 27:17
Speaker 4: we want to work the young guy out, but we
• 27:19
Speaker 4: still are holding you to a standard where you need
• 27:20
Speaker 4: to win some games that can be hard to pull
• 27:22
Speaker 4: off at one time, particularly against the murderers road that
• 27:25
Speaker 4: you talk about on the schedule. This has to be
• 27:28
Speaker 4: an organizational decision when you decide that Jackson Dart is
• 27:31
Speaker 4: going to be the quarterback, and once he goes in,
• 27:34
Speaker 4: it can't be oh, we're gonna pull him out once
• 27:36
Speaker 4: he goes in. It has to be a full commitment
• 27:38
Speaker 4: that we're all in on the Jackson Dart Show and
• 27:41
Speaker 4: our job, offensively is to get him going and we're
• 27:44
Speaker 4: going try and win as many games as we can
• 27:46
Speaker 4: while we're working through some of those growing pains.
• 27:49
  Speaker 2: God, it's just so ugly what they're watching. I don't
• 27:51
Speaker 2: know how much longer they're going to want to watch that.
• 27:53
Speaker 2: So we'll see it. Hey, let's get to let's get
• 27:55
Speaker 2: to Michcah parsons first game there with Green Bay. I mean, look,
• 27:59
Speaker 2: we're talking about what we saw personnel wise, and that's
• 28:02
Speaker 2: kind of what we do on this show. But Paul
• 28:04
Speaker 2: I got to give the stadium operations folks some love.
• 28:08
Speaker 2: Pretty cool when they had him introduced as the last
• 28:10
Speaker 2: guy coming out of the tunnel. Saw that little clip
• 28:12
Speaker 2: that was floating around, pretty epic scene there in Lambeau.
• 28:16
Speaker 3: You know, first of all, I mean he played thirty snaps,
• 28:19
Speaker 3: so you know, probably about half half the action. A
• 28:22
Speaker 3: lot of them were pass rushers, and he looked like
• 28:24
Speaker 3: Michael Parsons in a Green Bay uniform. The guy was
• 28:27
Speaker 3: elite off I mean, there's Penney Sewel over there and
• 28:30
Speaker 3: he's beating him inside and you know he's getting into
• 28:33
Speaker 3: Goth's face and he's thrown an interception. Evan Williams GoF
• 28:36
Speaker 3: gets off the spot and here he comes like it's
• 28:39
Speaker 3: just you know, nobody's getting away from Michael Parsons. No
• 28:42
Speaker 3: quarterback is getting away from when he's on the chase.
• 28:44
Speaker 3: So you saw a lot of that. But then you know,
• 28:47
Speaker 3: you saw you saw in the game where they Detroit
• 28:52
Speaker 3: was already game planning for They're already chipping him, They're
• 28:55
Speaker 3: already taking the guard and sliding there. And so here
• 28:57
Speaker 3: comes Rashaun and Lucas nests and they're eating a little
• 29:01
Speaker 3: they they want to rob the middle of the field.
• 29:04
Speaker 3: But you know, Jared Goff that was offense looked awful.
• 29:07
Speaker 3: But I thought Micah looked excited to be there, like
• 29:10
Speaker 3: he's jumping on. I haven't seen him that excited in
• 29:12
Speaker 3: a while, but I think he was pumped to get
• 29:14
Speaker 3: out there and do this thing. I don't know how
• 29:16
Speaker 3: bad the back is, I'm not really because it didn't
• 29:18
Speaker 3: look like it affected him at all. He looked like
• 29:20
Speaker 3: the same guy, instant takeoff, beating some good players out there.
• 29:24
Speaker 3: They moved him around quite a bit. They played, they
• 29:26
Speaker 3: rushed them over the guard, they rushed them right side,
• 29:28
Speaker 3: left side, so they had a play in form and
• 29:32
Speaker 3: I thought he had about four or five rushers that
• 29:34
  Speaker 3: were outstanding.
• 29:35
Speaker 4: I'm gonna say this because we all have been tied
• 29:38
Speaker 4: to great organizations. Organizations that I say are first class
• 29:41
Speaker 4: or they have championship standards have been played in Green Bay.
• 29:45
Speaker 4: What I get from Michael Parsons is there's a clear
• 29:49
Speaker 4: understanding of what is expected of him, and that might
• 29:52
Speaker 4: have been different than what it was in Dallas. Baudy,
• 29:54
Speaker 4: you played in Dallas. I'm sure Dallas now is different
• 29:56
Speaker 4: in Dallas back then. But what I do know about
• 29:59
Speaker 4: Green Bay when you walk in those hallowed halls, everything
• 30:01
Speaker 4: goes back to those days of Ben's Lambarden, even Curly Lambau,
• 30:05
Speaker 4: about how you expected to conduct yourself in that building.
• 30:09
Speaker 4: Michael Parsons talked early in the week about Hey, on
• 30:12
Speaker 4: the day off, I came in and there were so
• 30:13
Speaker 4: many guys here I've never seen that I can tell
• 30:16
Speaker 4: you in Green Bay. That is the expectation, like They
• 30:19
Speaker 4: don't call that place title town for nothing, so I'm
• 30:23
Speaker 4: not surprised that when they did the intro and they
• 30:26
Speaker 4: called him last. Part of that is to ingratiate him
• 30:29
Speaker 4: to the franchise, the community, or whatever, but it's also
• 30:34
Speaker 4: to let him know what the expectations are for him
• 30:37
Speaker 4: on the field. Look, man, Jeff Affley, I knew he
• 30:40
Speaker 4: was gonna have a thing because when you are a
• 30:42
Speaker 4: vision and break seaball getball defense like they want to be.
• 30:45
Speaker 4: When you get a pass rusher, the turnovers come in droves,
• 30:49
Speaker 4: and moving him around and being able to take advantage
• 30:52
Speaker 4: of his pass rushing prowess not only sets up those
• 30:56
Speaker 4: other pass rushers to get busy, as you talked about
• 30:58
Speaker 4: Rashan Gary and Devin Wyatt and those guys, but in
• 31:02
Speaker 4: the back end, man, you talk about being able to
• 31:04
Speaker 4: squat and include a quarterback knowing that, hey, thousand and one,
• 31:09
Speaker 4: one thousand and two, the balls coming out. The Green
• 31:12
Speaker 4: Bay Packers became a title contender when they acquired Michael
• 31:16
Speaker 4: Parson's because I felt like they're going to be one
• 31:19
Speaker 4: of the few organizations that could get the best out
• 31:22
Speaker 4: of him. Because he has to comply to the standards
• 31:25
Speaker 4: because they've been greater players that are played there before him,
• 31:29
Speaker 4: and he'll understand what is expected of him.
• 31:32
Speaker 2: To me, it's about what it does for all the
• 31:34
Speaker 2: other guys on that defense. It's literally like I think
• 31:37
Speaker 2: about baseball. You acquired a three hole hitter at the
• 31:40
Speaker 2: trade deadline, is what you did. And now all of
• 31:42
Speaker 2: a sudden, your three hitter gets to move down a
• 31:44
Speaker 2: little bit. All of a sudden, now your five hitters
• 31:46
Speaker 2: now hitting this set. Everybody's getting better pitches. And you
• 31:48
Speaker 2: saw Rashan Gary in one on ones with Taylor Decker,
• 31:52
Speaker 2: and I'm not you know, Baldly, you own nicknames for players.
• 31:56
Speaker 2: We go to the condor with Max Crosby, go you
• 31:58
Speaker 2: know Highway seventy seven. You're the nickname guy. I'm gonna
• 32:01
Speaker 2: give you one free of charge. Rashan Gary, it should
• 32:04
Speaker 2: be his nickname should be Amco because he is testing
• 32:08
Speaker 2: your breaks as an offensive tackle and and Decker's breaks
• 32:11
Speaker 2: were not working well against the power that he was facing.
• 32:14
Speaker 2: That was roller skates straight back to the quarterback. But
• 32:17
Speaker 2: there is a lot of power there that if we
• 32:20
Speaker 2: just put that video on Baldy's breakdowns and let's get
• 32:22
Speaker 2: the amco thing double a. So that that was one thing,
• 32:27
Speaker 2: and the other thing was if you haven't I loved
• 32:31
Speaker 2: him coming out and I haven't just watched a ton
• 32:33
Speaker 2: of him since he's been in the league. Eddrin Cooper
• 32:35
Speaker 2: is going to be a major problem for people, no doubt, dynamic.
• 32:39
Speaker 2: He's explosive. Guards trying to get up to him that
• 32:42
Speaker 2: he just dips and dodgs. You can't get your hands
• 32:44
Speaker 2: on him. He's too sudden, too twitchy, and too explosive.
• 32:47
Speaker 3: So that game, uh, you know when he was at
• 32:50
Speaker 3: A and M against Alabama when it was just like
• 32:52
Speaker 3: about him drafted like he did everything that day. But
• 32:56
Speaker 3: he took over the second half of the season last
• 32:58
  Speaker 3: year and he's on a he's on a good course
• 33:01
Speaker 3: to a bunch of tackles that make a lot of plays.
• 33:04
Speaker 2: All right, let's go to the negative side of this thing,
• 33:06
Speaker 2: because a lot was discussed about Detroit. You lose both coordinators.
• 33:10
Speaker 2: What's that going to look like? What's the plan? So
• 33:12
Speaker 2: I'm just gonna start this is the area I focused on,
• 33:14
Speaker 2: Buck and then I'll see what you think and Baldy
• 33:17
Speaker 2: pick it up. But red Zone. Look, they lost the
• 33:20
Speaker 2: game by a couple scores, but you're one of four
• 33:23
Speaker 2: in the red zone. That's the that's the story of
• 33:25
Speaker 2: the game. Green Bays three of five, Like, just do
• 33:27
Speaker 2: the math on that one. That that tells you the
• 33:29
Speaker 2: whole story of the game. So they had thirteen plays.
• 33:31
Speaker 2: They ran in the red zone, ten passes, three runs
• 33:34
Speaker 2: for Detroit. Let's go with the first time they're in there.
• 33:37
Speaker 2: They go gun, no play action, throw a flat route
• 33:40
Speaker 2: for five yards to Gibbs. They come back, they're under center.
• 33:44
Speaker 2: It's a run, no game. That's where Drian Cooper just
• 33:46
Speaker 2: beats the tight end on the backside cut off. Then,
• 33:49
  Speaker 2: so now we're in third down, we're in Gun's there's
• 33:53
Speaker 2: absolutely nothing there. There's no play action, there's no mesh.
• 33:57
Speaker 2: There's just just swarmed and covered in smooth there's nothing
• 34:00
Speaker 2: for golf incomplete. So that's their first one. They go
• 34:02
Speaker 2: to the second time they're down there, gun, no play action,
• 34:05
Speaker 2: pass throwaway, gun run Pina sewell he gets beat, Mahogan,
• 34:11
Speaker 2: he gets beat. So you get nothing on a second
• 34:13
Speaker 2: down run the third down, gun, no play action, no mesh,
• 34:17
Speaker 2: golf just locks on. There's nothing there, gets picked. So
• 34:21
Speaker 2: now we've got one failure, one turnover we get to
• 34:23
Speaker 2: the third possession under center, they go under center play action,
• 34:27
Speaker 2: but there's no mesh. There's nothing in that restricted space
• 34:30
Speaker 2: to create any separation. So they're just absolutely smothered under center,
• 34:35
Speaker 2: run tackle for loss, third and sixteen. They just dump
• 34:38
Speaker 2: one off to the flat. The only time they did
• 34:40
Speaker 2: anything in the red zone is the fourth quarter, minute
• 34:42
Speaker 2: thirty four. You're down by twenty one points. They run
• 34:44
Speaker 2: four verticals, they dumped the ball down and then they
• 34:47
Speaker 2: hit Tesla in the back of the end zone makes
• 34:49
Speaker 2: an unbelievable catching, but the game's over at that point
• 34:51
Speaker 2: in time. So I go back and watch last year.
• 34:54
Speaker 2: I'm like, what was the difference. I watched all the
• 34:56
Speaker 2: red zone snaps against Green Bay last year. I saw
• 34:59
Speaker 2: more shifts, motion movement, I saw a tight end screen.
• 35:02
Speaker 2: I saw Mom and Ross Saint Brown on an inside
• 35:04
Speaker 2: reverse pop one the I'm just it looked stale and static.
• 35:10
Speaker 2: It did not look creative. And it's one week buck.
• 35:12
Speaker 2: I don't want to overreact on the coaching side of things,
• 35:15
Speaker 2: but that was alarming what you saw from Detroit's offense.
• 35:18
Speaker 4: Look, I'm not surprised. That's one of the things that
• 35:20
Speaker 4: was the biggest question is why you couldn't pencil the
• 35:22
Speaker 4: Detroit lines in as a prohibitive favorite in that division.
• 35:26
Speaker 4: When you lose both coordinators you talk about Ben Johnson
• 35:29
Speaker 4: and Aaron Glnn respectively, it changes the way this team's
• 35:32
Speaker 4: going to be, regardless of the personnel carry over. When
• 35:36
Speaker 4: you have John Morton coming in, who is a John
• 35:38
Speaker 4: Gruden West Coast disciple, and he's replacing Ben Johnson, who
• 35:42
Speaker 4: is a creative, artistic wizard. When it came to that offense,
• 35:48
Speaker 4: it was going to be different, and I wondered how
• 35:51
Speaker 4: much pressure John mort would have to match the creativity
• 35:55
Speaker 4: that Ben Johnson left, because that offense was fun, it
• 35:58
Speaker 4: was physical, and they had a bill needed more between
• 36:01
Speaker 4: Finesse and Forrest. I don't know if you can match that,
• 36:04
Speaker 4: and we have to get used to seeing a very generic,
• 36:08
Speaker 4: very static Lions offense and I just don't know. Personnel wise,
• 36:13
Speaker 4: that's cool, but you have to have superior personnel everywhere
• 36:17
Speaker 4: to play vanilla ice cream type offense and win consistently
• 36:20
  Speaker 4: in this league.
• 36:21
Speaker 3: I've always I've always maintained since I was in Dallas
• 36:26
Speaker 3: and we lost a lot of great assistant coaches, Jeene
• 36:28
Speaker 3: Stallings and Dickens some really good coaches that it's more
• 36:32
Speaker 3: difficult to replace great coaches than it is great players.
• 36:35
Speaker 3: Now that being said, losing Frank rag Now and Kevin
• 36:39
Speaker 3: Zeitler and just seeing Graham Glasgow will go over to
• 36:43
Speaker 3: center and then two new guards in there, like, they're
• 36:46
Speaker 3: just not as good upfront right now. Now maybe they
• 36:49
Speaker 3: get better. And Decker, you know, they thought about replacing
• 36:52
Speaker 3: him a year ago, so they're not as good upfront
• 36:56
Speaker 3: where you might have the confidence to try some of
• 36:59
Speaker 3: these things and work some of these gimmick not gimmicks,
• 37:03
Speaker 3: but some of these things that Ben Johnson liked to do.
• 37:06
Speaker 3: It all started with the ability to win the line
• 37:08
Speaker 3: of scrimmage, and I don't know that they weren't close
• 37:11
Speaker 3: to doing that yesterday, And so I think that that's
• 37:14
Speaker 3: another thing to watch, is the guard, the interior offensive
• 37:17
Speaker 3: line play and how that affects this offense.
• 37:21
Speaker 2: It's gonna be hard in that division too, with who
• 37:22
Speaker 2: you're gonna see defensively. So look, it's one game. Let's
• 37:27
Speaker 2: I'm not gonna try and way overreact to it. But
• 37:29
Speaker 2: I would just use the word alarming. It wasn't great
• 37:31
Speaker 2: there for Detroit. Baldi Tampa Atlanta great game. Did what
• 37:36
Speaker 2: did you see in that one?
• 37:37
  Speaker 4: Uh?
• 37:38
Speaker 3: Well, you know, they lost Tristan Waris in the offseason
• 37:42
Speaker 3: and so in the preseason they had different guys playing
• 37:46
Speaker 3: left tackle. Well, for this game, they adjusted the whole
• 37:48
Speaker 3: offensive line. They took Graham Barton and played him at
• 37:50
Speaker 3: left tackle. They took Ben Britis in their left guard,
• 37:53
Speaker 3: they put him at center, and then they put Michael
• 37:56
Speaker 3: Jordan in at left guard. And they played great. They
• 37:59
Speaker 3: played great. I mean, all those all the emphasis that
• 38:02
Speaker 3: Atlanta had on getting these pass rushers James Pearce and
• 38:06
Speaker 3: Jalen Walker and you know, Leonard Floyd, like all of
• 38:09
Speaker 3: the whole emphasis was We're going to get to the quarterback,
• 38:12
Speaker 3: except they didn't. And Baker was like, the two touchdown
• 38:18
Speaker 3: throws to Abuca are just dying absolute dimes. But he
• 38:22
Speaker 3: also had trusted his protection and he did it from
• 38:25
Speaker 3: the pocket and they were beautiful throws, including the game winner,
• 38:29
Speaker 3: uh to a Buka.
• 38:30
  Speaker 4: Uh.
• 38:31
Speaker 3: That was that was really encouraging that you could manage
• 38:36
Speaker 3: the offensive line, make the switches they did, and the
• 38:39
Speaker 3: players and not playing at all in any games together
• 38:42
Speaker 3: in preseason and then putting that out there on the
• 38:45
Speaker 3: road in Atlanta in a packed house that was encouraging.
• 38:48
Speaker 3: On the other side of Michael Pennis, I thought he
• 38:50
Speaker 3: played great. You know, it really came down to a
• 38:54
Speaker 3: turnover at the end of the game, but I thought
• 38:56
Speaker 3: he had him in the game all the way to
• 38:58
Speaker 3: the very end. Fact, he throws a ball to Casey
• 39:00
Speaker 3: Washington with sixteen seconds ago, He's got it at the five.
• 39:04
Speaker 3: It's in hands that Antoine Winfield came and just blew
• 39:06
Speaker 3: him up and it became an incompletion. Buddy. He gave
• 39:09
Speaker 3: him a chance to the very very end. And the
• 39:12
Speaker 3: talent they lost Drake Drake London is a huge loss.
• 39:15
Speaker 3: But you know, the throws to Bijon what he did,
• 39:19
Speaker 3: Kyle Pitch looked like he was involved in the offense
• 39:21
Speaker 3: for the first time in a long time. Casey Washington,
• 39:24
Speaker 3: I didn't know who he was until this game. Like
• 39:28
Speaker 3: it was, it was a good It was a good
• 39:30
Speaker 3: NFC South game, I'll say.
• 39:31
Speaker 4: You that, yeah, a good NFC South game. And I
• 39:34
Speaker 4: think we have to come to the realization that Tempay
• 39:36
Speaker 4: Buccaneers have kind of cracked the code when it comes
• 39:38
Speaker 4: to dominating that division. They won four straight division titles.
• 39:41
Speaker 4: They always kind of have a sense of how to
• 39:43
Speaker 4: win those games. But Todd Bowles and the job that
• 39:47
Speaker 4: Jason Light has done and kind of building up that talent,
• 39:49
Speaker 4: this is a team that's gonna be very dangerous down
• 39:52
Speaker 4: the stretch. And when I think about offensively, what they
• 39:54
Speaker 4: were able to do a Mecca Buca. You have Mike Evans,
• 39:57
Speaker 4: you don't have Chris Gottwin yet, but when they get
• 39:59
Speaker 4: those guys back and then they're able to continue to
• 40:01
Speaker 4: run the ball, this is gonna be a tough team
• 40:04
Speaker 4: because officously they're gonna be able to control it via
• 40:06
Speaker 4: the run or pass. But defensively, what Todd Bowles does
• 40:10
Speaker 4: with all those exotic zone pressures, man, he gives you
• 40:14
Speaker 4: a headache physically and mentally with all the stuff that
• 40:17
Speaker 4: they do. This is a really good team and they're
• 40:19
Speaker 4: gonna fly out the radar, but they're gonna be one
• 40:21
Speaker 4: of those teams that you're gonna have to deal with
• 40:22
Speaker 4: when we talk about who's gonna be in the final
• 40:24
Speaker 4: four when it comes down to Super Super Bowl contendent.
• 40:27
  Speaker 2: I'm not I'm not click bait, I'm not a power
• 40:30
Speaker 2: statement guy, but I know you've got a first bout
• 40:32
Speaker 2: Hall of Famer and receiver at Mecca Book is the
• 40:34
Speaker 2: best player, their best skilled player on offense. Just just
• 40:37
Speaker 2: watching what right now today, and to me, it's not
• 40:40
Speaker 2: only the you know, the trust Baker has in him,
• 40:43
Speaker 2: his ability to go get the ball, his ability to
• 40:45
Speaker 2: set guys up. To me, it was like Temple when
• 40:47
Speaker 2: you get guys that know how to temple routes in
• 40:49
Speaker 2: their first NFL game, I understand how to let things
• 40:52
Speaker 2: open up and then you see different. I was like,
• 40:54
Speaker 2: this is some different polish like that, and that's why
• 40:56
Speaker 2: they center Ohio State. This guy's a pros pro like
• 40:58
Speaker 2: he's he takes in and information. He's going to learn everything.
• 41:03
Speaker 2: He knows all the coverages to your point, Baldy, So
• 41:06
Speaker 2: uh that was uh, that was what blew me away
• 41:08
Speaker 2: from that watching the Mecca Book. Baldi, We've got you
• 41:10
Speaker 2: for about five more minutes. So I want to jam
• 41:12
Speaker 2: through a couple more games and then if you're listening
• 41:14
Speaker 2: to this for the first time, catching us on a Monday,
• 41:16
Speaker 2: whatever game, we don't hit here today, Bucky and I
• 41:19
Speaker 2: we're going to clean up from more because if we don't,
• 41:20
Speaker 2: if we don't talk about it today, we'll get it tomorrow.
• 41:22
  Speaker 2: I don't want to. I don't want to just short
• 41:23
Speaker 2: change stuff because I love the discussions that we're getting
• 41:25
Speaker 2: ready to have here, Baldy, let's get to uh, let's
• 41:28
Speaker 2: get to Indy. And what they did, I mean maybe
• 41:31
Speaker 2: that was the biggest surprise of the week.
• 41:32
Speaker 3: That was starting to nothing at one point and it
• 41:36
Speaker 3: was just it was complete domination. But I mean, you know, look,
• 41:39
Speaker 3: Inianapolis Colts first pick was Tyler Warren, and you can't
• 41:42
Speaker 3: watch that game and go, this is Tyler Warren's offense. Like,
• 41:46
Speaker 3: first of all, they I thought Chane did a great
• 41:49
Speaker 3: psych and did a great job of just making things
• 41:52
Speaker 3: like I call it paint by numbers, but Daniel Jones
• 41:55
Speaker 3: had very few reads to actually really make you just
• 41:57
Speaker 3: had to drop back his back foot and throw it
• 42:00
Speaker 3: and there was a guy open. Whether it was the
• 42:02
Speaker 3: first touchdown to Pittman where Tyler Warren takes the safety
• 42:06
Speaker 3: with him and it opens up the wheel behind it
• 42:08
Speaker 3: and there's a great throw. But I just thought that
• 42:10
Speaker 3: Tyler Warren in the blocking from the opening drive, catching
• 42:14
Speaker 3: three balls and the opening drive right down the field,
• 42:17
Speaker 3: like he's so he's so fiery, and how he lays
• 42:22
Speaker 3: the game guys bounce off him like he is an
• 42:25
Speaker 3: unbelievable target. He runs really well. He is a difference
• 42:30
Speaker 3: maker for that team. Third and one, here comes Tyler
• 42:33
Speaker 3: Warren on you know, the sneak up the middle. There's
• 42:35
Speaker 3: they used them to seal, to pass protect, so many
• 42:39
Speaker 3: different ways that they used them. And he was really effective.
• 42:42
Speaker 3: And you know by anybody that you know, if you
• 42:45
Speaker 3: guys have had a chance to talk to him, like
• 42:47
Speaker 3: he says two words, you know that's a lot. Like
• 42:49
Speaker 3: he just lets his play do the talking. Like he's
• 42:52
Speaker 3: just and you can see it. He's having a great
• 42:54
Speaker 3: time out there whatever it is that he's doing. And
• 42:57
Speaker 3: he it opened up the whole offense to me.
• 43:00
Speaker 4: You know, it's funny you talk about opening another the offense.
• 43:03
Speaker 4: Daniel Jones gave us a little preview of what this
• 43:05
Speaker 4: was going to look like during the week when he
• 43:07
Speaker 4: talked about how Shane Stykeen has a unique ability to
• 43:10
Speaker 4: make things very very simple for the quarterback, very.
• 43:12
  Speaker 3: Black or white.
• 43:14
Speaker 4: He gave him credit for not being egotistical enough to
• 43:17
Speaker 4: have this huge playbook, but he does the simple things
• 43:20
Speaker 4: better than anybody else, and he'll find a million different
• 43:23
Speaker 4: ways to run simple concepts that are easy for the quarterback.
• 43:26
Speaker 4: And what we saw was the best version of Daniel
• 43:29
Speaker 4: Jones in terms of being able to take this thing
• 43:31
Speaker 4: and get hot and get going.
• 43:33
Speaker 3: And never in a.
• 43:34
Speaker 4: Million years did people envision Daniel Jones having this kind
• 43:38
Speaker 4: of game, not only in a debut, but where he's
• 43:40
Speaker 4: a dominant player and performer. And so if I'm the
• 43:44
Speaker 4: Indianapolis Ghost and I'm Shane stycken Man, I feel great
• 43:46
Speaker 4: about what this is and what this could be because
• 43:50
Speaker 4: Lou and Aroumo and that defense is going to be
• 43:53
Speaker 4: much better than people think. And if they can get
• 43:55
Speaker 4: consistent production, I'm not saying thirty three points a game
• 43:58
Speaker 4: from the offense. Do they get consistent for production where
• 44:01
Speaker 4: they're twenty four to twenty six, they're gonna win a
• 44:04
Speaker 4: lot of games because defensively, Lou and Aroma is whereas
• 44:07
Speaker 4: he knows how to how to unlock the defensive person
• 44:11
Speaker 4: in the talent, and we saw that against Miami.
• 44:12
Speaker 2: You got me to the defense is where I wanted
• 44:14
Speaker 2: to go. I don't want to no name defense has
• 44:16
Speaker 2: been used. I don't want to say that, but I
• 44:17
Speaker 2: would say when you're putting a scouting report together and
• 44:19
Speaker 2: you're going to play the Indianapolis Colts defense. I don't
• 44:22
Speaker 2: think there's that one guy where we're like, Okay, we
• 44:23
Speaker 2: got to give all our attention to this player. What
• 44:25
Speaker 2: they do is they have a lot of really really
• 44:27
Speaker 2: good players. So you know, in terms of how many
• 44:29
Speaker 2: true blue players they have, I don't know that there's
• 44:31
Speaker 2: a lot of those, but there are not a lot
• 44:33
Speaker 2: of weaknesses. And when you go through that tape and
• 44:35
Speaker 2: you watch Kenny Moore blitzing, you know, playing with timing
• 44:37
Speaker 2: and instincts. You watch Grover Grover Stewart putting the centers
• 44:40
Speaker 2: and guards on roller skates all day long. Is just
• 44:42
Speaker 2: a big, powerful, physical guy. Nick Cross, you know, was
• 44:46
Speaker 2: active and physical in the back end. Lat Too is
• 44:49
Speaker 2: starting to come along and starting to see some of
• 44:50
Speaker 2: what they love so much about him come out of
• 44:52
Speaker 2: UCLA Ebukam, who, by the way, I don't know if
• 44:54
Speaker 2: he's played for fifty teams, but I feel like every
• 44:56
Speaker 2: year I watch Ebukam making plays for somebody. But they
• 45:00
Speaker 2: we all can run their athletic and they play really
• 45:02
Speaker 2: really hard, And I mean that was that was.
• 45:05
Speaker 3: Tua look absolutely flummixed in that game.
• 45:08
Speaker 2: Well, their offensive line stinks so let's start.
• 45:11
Speaker 3: Okay, but like you know, for Tua not to feel
• 45:14
Speaker 3: those two backside blitzers that they talked about anymore and
• 45:16
Speaker 3: hit cross coming clean and hitting them and getting the
• 45:19
Speaker 3: ball out on one of the occasions, like to not
• 45:22
Speaker 3: feel that or know that, like credit lou on a
• 45:25
Speaker 3: Room was gonna hit. He's gonna he's gonna blitz the
• 45:27
Speaker 3: backside of Tua, but not to feel see it like
• 45:31
Speaker 3: that just doesn't feel like to it to me. And
• 45:33
Speaker 3: then once he gets hit, now he's starting to read
• 45:36
Speaker 3: the rush after that, and that's what Then he really
• 45:38
Speaker 3: got himself in the truble.
• 45:40
Speaker 2: It was not pretty from Miami. Will we'll spare Miami
• 45:42
Speaker 2: the our heat today. I want to get to two
• 45:45
Speaker 2: last things, Baldi. Then we'll let you scoot two. Number
• 45:48
Speaker 2: one overall quarterbacks. I'll start lead us off on the
• 45:51
Speaker 2: first one. Cam Ward making his first start. That's I mean, look,
• 45:54
Speaker 2: you're on the road against Denver and that defense. That's
• 45:56
Speaker 2: a tough assignment, man, But I'm watching that. He's twelve
• 45:59
Speaker 2: to twenty eight for a twelve. He got sacked six times.
• 46:02
Speaker 2: He did not run the football one time. So those
• 46:04
Speaker 2: are kind of the numbers as they stand out when
• 46:07
Speaker 2: you watch the sacks, there's a couple of them of
• 46:09
Speaker 2: him just holding the ball. That's the speed at this
• 46:12
Speaker 2: adjustment of the speed of the game. You think about
• 46:14
Speaker 2: how many times at Miami he would be a statue
• 46:17
Speaker 2: like he would just sit there feet in the ground
• 46:18
Speaker 2: with that great Miami offensive line. Yeah, that ain't happening here.
• 46:22
Speaker 2: So he's got to speed up his process a little bit.
• 46:25
Speaker 2: They got beat I mean, gosh, I don't Kushion Barry
• 46:28
Speaker 2: got killed in this game. Latham I think was hurt.
• 46:31
Speaker 2: I haven't seen the update on that, but he would
• 46:33
Speaker 2: laid off the ball the time he struggled, but he
• 46:36
Speaker 2: had three drops down the field. I thought that the
• 46:39
Speaker 2: biggest takeaway watching him throw the ball was he made
• 46:43
Speaker 2: he made two plays on scrambles. But that's not who
• 46:45
Speaker 2: he's going to be or how he's going to be
• 46:47
Speaker 2: with this team. He's got to play on time. When
• 46:49
Speaker 2: he played on time back football gone, he was Okay,
• 46:52
Speaker 2: that's baldy. I think that's just kind of the speed
• 46:54
Speaker 2: of the game thing for Cam He's just got to
• 46:56
  Speaker 2: get adjusted.
• 46:57
Speaker 3: Well. They probably couldn't have been a worse defensive start
• 47:00
Speaker 3: then against Denver. I mean Denver had as many five
• 47:02
Speaker 3: man rushes as anybody in this business because they know
• 47:05
Speaker 3: they can hold up on the back end. And so
• 47:07
Speaker 3: it all takes is Dan Moore, Jay you know, or Kushenbarry,
• 47:11
Speaker 3: somebody to get beat by Zach Allen or Benito whoever
• 47:14
Speaker 3: you know, was winning the one on ones and now
• 47:16
Speaker 3: he's under pressure. Now he's now it's speeding him up.
• 47:20
Speaker 3: And so they they are relentless. Van Joseph does a
• 47:23
Speaker 3: great job, but he's got great personnelity. Olfango really showed
• 47:26
Speaker 3: up in that game, you know, immediately, and so I
• 47:30
Speaker 3: just feel like, man, try to find a weakness in
• 47:32
Speaker 3: that Denver defense and then have the offensive line to
• 47:35
Speaker 3: be able to hold up so a guy can at
• 47:38
Speaker 3: least have two and a half seconds to go find
• 47:39
Speaker 3: a receiver. He didn't get many of those opportunities.
• 47:43
Speaker 4: No, he didn't get many of those. You knew advance
• 47:44
Speaker 4: Joseph was gonna doallod up. He's gonna at him up
• 47:47
Speaker 4: because that's all he knows. Like this is a team
• 47:49
Speaker 4: that was at the top of the league in sack
• 47:50
Speaker 4: last year. They believe in bringing pressure. They're relentless when
• 47:53
Speaker 4: it comes to it, and having a young guy, they
• 47:55
Speaker 4: were setting them up. I'll say this offensively, just got
• 47:58
Speaker 4: to see better ball security from bow Knicks and this offense.
• 48:02
Speaker 4: Like this is a game that the score was much
• 48:05
Speaker 4: closer than it should have been, and that's because they
• 48:07
Speaker 4: turned the ball over. They take care of the football
• 48:09
Speaker 4: and they kind of get the running the ball and
• 48:11
Speaker 4: vo Nicks is efficient. This Broncos team is built and
• 48:14
Speaker 4: it just makes me think, Man, the AFC West is
• 48:17
Speaker 4: gonna be a head knock because you talk about the Kansay,
• 48:20
Speaker 4: the Chiefs being at the bottom, Pete Carroll working his magic,
• 48:23
Speaker 4: the Broncos winning, and then the Charge is winning. It's
• 48:26
Speaker 4: gonna be tough and I can see it game down
• 48:29
  Speaker 4: the stretch.
• 48:29
Speaker 2: I cant see them all here. So you got to
• 48:31
Speaker 2: see the Chiefs Week one. For the Chargers, we'll go
• 48:32
Speaker 2: play the uh the Raiders. I'll see that game Monday night,
• 48:35
Speaker 2: and then the following week Denver comes to LA, so
• 48:37
Speaker 2: the Charger will get a taste of the entire division here.
• 48:39
Speaker 2: To start us off, last one Buck game, you were
• 48:42
Speaker 2: at Bryce young again, hoping that was going to be
• 48:44
Speaker 2: a step forward for him after last year. The Jags
• 48:48
Speaker 2: team that you you work for and call games for
• 48:50
Speaker 2: they kind of they kind of bottled up this offense.
• 48:53
Speaker 4: Yeah, they bought up the offense. But here here's the
• 48:55
Speaker 4: funny thing like it, the score is not truly indicative
• 48:59
Speaker 4: of what it looked like him watching it up close.
• 49:03
Speaker 4: The Panthers want to run the football, and Trouepa Hubbard
• 49:05
Speaker 4: had it going. He was averaging like five years of
• 49:06
Speaker 4: clip the first half, and then there was a turnover
• 49:09
Speaker 4: that kind of flipped the script a little bit, gave
• 49:11
Speaker 4: the Jaguars life and they were able to separate, and
• 49:13
Speaker 4: then you had the long weather delay and all that
• 49:15
Speaker 4: other stuff, and so it just didn't fall in their favor.
• 49:17
Speaker 4: When this offense is at his best, Chebra Huver's running
• 49:20
Speaker 4: the ball, they finding creative ways to get Bryce Young
• 49:23
Speaker 4: out of the pocket on play action, boot action in
• 49:25
Speaker 4: those things. Well, let me tell you something. All those
• 49:28
Speaker 4: opinions that we had on tedor Roy McMillan about oh,
• 49:31
Speaker 4: I don't know, tell me wrong on that this dude
• 49:34
Speaker 4: is amazing when it comes to his hand out coordination,
• 49:38
Speaker 4: his ability to play big, looking like a natural number
• 49:41
Speaker 4: one receiver. If they're able to dictate the terms, meaning
• 49:45
Speaker 4: they can run on early downs and get to the
• 49:47
Speaker 4: play action where they can find tedyor Roy McMillan, and
• 49:50
Speaker 4: he might have to say his whole name, because his
• 49:51
Speaker 4: mom chastised me in the elevator about he's not Ted.
• 49:54
Speaker 4: He's not going to make sure I call him by
• 49:56
Speaker 4: his entire name or t mac whatever it is he's
• 50:00
Speaker 4: If they can get that going, they have a chance.
• 50:03
Speaker 4: But right now it was piecemeal. It wasn't clean. You
• 50:06
Speaker 4: just hope the operation gets better for that offense with
• 50:08
  Speaker 4: Dave cannot.
• 50:10
Speaker 3: Well just just a biggie back here. I mean, Liam
• 50:13
Speaker 3: Cohen did an unbelievable job last year in Tampa to
• 50:16
Speaker 3: unleash the running game. Now, Bucky every helped. But I
• 50:19
Speaker 3: thought the way that he runs it, the way that
• 50:21
Speaker 3: he attacks the I thought the way that that offensive
• 50:28
Speaker 3: line played together up front, like Traves e. Tan ran
• 50:32
Speaker 3: the ball as well as I've seen him running now
• 50:34
Speaker 3: in a couple of years, maybe since his rookie year.
• 50:36
Speaker 3: And I thought they were really really tight in their
• 50:40
Speaker 3: combo blocks when they came off to the linebackers, how
• 50:43
Speaker 3: they executed just running inside zones with them. I thought
• 50:47
Speaker 3: that was encouraging. It's just it just started. It's not
• 50:49
Speaker 3: the greatest I thought it was a good start for
• 50:51
Speaker 3: a team that desperately wants some toughness coming out of
• 50:55
Speaker 3: the run game, something that they had nothing going for
• 50:58
Speaker 3: it the last two years. So I thought that was
• 51:00
Speaker 3: a good start for the Jacks.
• 51:01
Speaker 2: Yeah, I'll wrap us up here on that one. The
• 51:04
Speaker 2: you know, that division all of a sudden, which he
• 51:06
Speaker 2: thought might be the worst division in the NFL. All
• 51:09
Speaker 2: of a sudden, you look up and Indy does what
• 51:10
Speaker 2: they did, and then you look at Jacksonville who looked
• 51:13
Speaker 2: like they've they've got it going now with a new
• 51:14
Speaker 2: coaching staff and some fun pieces that they've added to
• 51:17
Speaker 2: the mix. Yeah, Houston, don't know less of the Rams
• 51:19
Speaker 2: on the road. That's a really, really good football team.
• 51:21
Speaker 2: Houston is going to be good going throughout the season.
• 51:24
Speaker 2: So it looks like that division might end up being
• 51:26
Speaker 2: a little bit better than we initially thought. And then, uh,
• 51:28
Speaker 2: last thing on on Bryce and the in the Panthers. Yeah, no,
• 51:32
Speaker 2: I saw some good things from McMillan.
• 51:34
  Speaker 4: Buck.
• 51:34
Speaker 2: I agree with you on that. My man, look gets
• 51:36
Speaker 2: got to freaking get his feet down.
• 51:37
  Speaker 3: Man.
• 51:37
Speaker 2: There's there's two big plays in that game where he
• 51:40
Speaker 2: catches the ball. He's got plenty of time, get your
• 51:42
Speaker 2: back foot down. He doesn't get it down. Those cost
• 51:45
Speaker 2: him a couple They had a couple other drops. I
• 51:47
Speaker 2: didn't think the box score wasn't pretty when I watched
• 51:50
Speaker 2: the tape. I didn't think Bryce was as bad as
• 51:52
Speaker 2: the box score made it look. It could have been.
• 51:54
Speaker 2: It could have been a little bit better there. So
• 51:56
Speaker 2: that was just bad.
• 51:57
Speaker 4: Yeah, not as bad as is it made out be
• 52:00
Speaker 4: like it wasn't great, but like it certainly it wasn't
• 52:03
Speaker 4: a terrible performance. Like you can build off of some
• 52:05
Speaker 4: of the things that he displayed.
• 52:07
  Speaker 2: Yeah, so anyway that look, there's a lot there's a
• 52:09
Speaker 2: lot more games we will we'll get to those tomorrow
• 52:11
Speaker 2: on the show as well as so we'll recap our
• 52:13
Speaker 2: rookie draft from last week. We'll have our rookie draft
• 52:15
Speaker 2: for the upcoming week. And I did just find out
• 52:18
Speaker 2: we've got an old friend, Mike Max going to join
• 52:21
Speaker 2: us on Thursday, so we'll have him on the show
• 52:23
Speaker 2: ball the Maiden Voyage. Man, I kept you seven minutes
• 52:26
Speaker 2: longer than I was supposed to, but I love you.
• 52:28
Speaker 3: All right, man. I will just put the fine in
• 52:31
  Speaker 3: the jar.
• 52:32
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, no, that's right. Two Starbucks, two Starbucks you
• 52:38
Speaker 2: next Monday, man, take care of.
• 52:43
  Speaker 4: All right, buck.
• 52:44
Speaker 2: As we kind of wrap this thing up here, Uh
• 52:47
Speaker 2: other other big picture takeaway you've got here from week one.
• 52:51
Speaker 2: As we close this thing down, don't overreact to anything
• 52:54
Speaker 2: that we saw in week one. You really don't know
• 52:56
Speaker 2: what a team really looks like. And after we see
• 52:58
  Speaker 2: about four games.
• 52:59
Speaker 4: I use our scouting take where we take three or
• 53:01
Speaker 4: four games before make evaluations on players. Same thing about teams,
• 53:05
Speaker 4: some guy, Some teams are going to start out slow
• 53:06
Speaker 4: out the box. Other teams are gonna get out fast,
• 53:09
Speaker 4: but we won't know what team really is until we
• 53:11
Speaker 4: get to the quarter point. So fans don't freak out.
• 53:15
Speaker 4: But do know, if you start owing two dods or long,
• 53:18
Speaker 4: you're making the playoffs. So I'm saying, don't freak out,
• 53:21
Speaker 4: but you don't want to be in the in the
• 53:23
Speaker 4: winless column for too long because it will into your
• 53:27
Speaker 4: ability to make it to the postseason.
• 53:28
Speaker 2: Yeah, I want to. I want to just do. We'll
• 53:30
Speaker 2: knock out two more things here as we close up shop.
• 53:33
Speaker 2: And again thanks to Baldy for joining us. I didn't
• 53:35
Speaker 2: get a chance to talk to you about the Charger
• 53:37
Speaker 2: game from Friday, so just one point on that. I
• 53:39
Speaker 2: mentioned Justin Herbert a little bit earlier talking about how
• 53:42
Speaker 2: like I think he can get to where Josh Allen is.
• 53:44
Speaker 2: I think he can and if he plays like he
• 53:46
Speaker 2: did in that game, he's there just because that was
• 53:49
Speaker 2: some big boy throws man against that defense, and they've
• 53:52
Speaker 2: all of a sudden. You look up and Chargers team
• 53:54
Speaker 2: last year that you know, was a little bit void
• 53:56
Speaker 2: of weapons to the point where Will Disley was their
• 53:58
Speaker 2: number two option in the playoff game. You look up
• 54:01
Speaker 2: and Keenan Allen's back, picking up right where he left
• 54:03
Speaker 2: off with Justin Herbert. You look at Quentin Johnson now
• 54:06
Speaker 2: as the three, who's getting some advantageous matchups because of
• 54:09
Speaker 2: McConkie and Keenan Allen. And then all of a sudden,
• 54:12
Speaker 2: Trey Harris, this rookie second round pick, makes a play.
• 54:14
Speaker 2: Conklin's an upgrade form at tight end. He makes them play.
• 54:17
Speaker 2: I mean, they got some firepower. Not to mention, you
• 54:19
Speaker 2: got a new backfield with two big, big dudes back there,
• 54:22
Speaker 2: including Hampton, who can go.
• 54:24
Speaker 4: You know, it's funny because it is an upgrade in personnel,
• 54:27
Speaker 4: and a lot of times DJ we talked about players
• 54:30
Speaker 4: and pieces and roles and how important it is to
• 54:33
Speaker 4: be cast in a role that suits your talent. Quentin
• 54:36
Speaker 4: Johnson man put in a role that suits his talent
• 54:38
Speaker 4: as a guy who is Urkele Thread can do some
• 54:40
Speaker 4: of the things you talk about, Like this guy is
• 54:42
Speaker 4: an accomplished track and field athlete in high school. They
• 54:45
Speaker 4: have him in the right role. Keenan Allen coming back
• 54:47
Speaker 4: being able to be the third down playmaker, the possession
• 54:50
Speaker 4: receiver that just finds a way to consistently pick up
• 54:53
Speaker 4: first thousand. Then McConkie kind of be in the underrated
• 54:56
Speaker 4: number one receiver. But it's so crafty. They have so
• 54:59
Speaker 4: many different things, but at the end of the day,
• 55:01
Speaker 4: the Charges ability to be able to be a physical
• 55:04
Speaker 4: football team because they have upgraded the back through and
• 55:06
Speaker 4: they will be committed to the running game with a
• 55:09
Speaker 4: quarterback that look man Harvard taosseim at every turn, he's
• 55:13
  Speaker 4: specially he's a franchise, he's a beast, all the a
• 55:16
Speaker 4: few some of adjectives that he's used to describe. Justin Herbert,
• 55:19
Speaker 4: they have one of those now with what you're saying,
• 55:22
Speaker 4: Herbert just owning those superhero powers and letting them shot
• 55:28
Speaker 4: being okay with being a little more as you say,
• 55:31
Speaker 4: like Josh Allen, like, wait, man, I'll take over the
• 55:33
Speaker 4: game when I need to. He has all the tools.
• 55:36
Speaker 4: He just refused to kind of crack open the thing
• 55:39
Speaker 4: every now and didn't do it. But hey, man, break
• 55:41
Speaker 4: the piggy bank. Let's let some of that come out,
• 55:43
Speaker 4: because if he does that, the Charge become a bit
• 55:46
  Speaker 4: very dangerous team.
• 55:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, no question, including the run there to seal the
• 55:50
Speaker 2: game with a sweet little baseball slider to wrap that
• 55:53
  Speaker 2: game up.
• 55:53
  Speaker 4: Mahomes.
• 55:54
Speaker 2: By the way, seeing him down there in person on
• 55:56
Speaker 2: the field before the game, he looks leaner. That's as
• 55:59
Speaker 2: well as a we're seeing him move. He played really
• 56:01
Speaker 2: really well. I mean they got a little Greek early
• 56:03
Speaker 2: in the game that cost him in terms of just
• 56:05
Speaker 2: not taking what was there worth. He goes out, they
• 56:07
Speaker 2: don't you know, have or she rice, so they're shorthanded
• 56:09
Speaker 2: their offensively. But I thought in terms of some of
• 56:11
Speaker 2: the plays he made, but more so just how he moved,
• 56:13
Speaker 2: Homes is gonna have a very big year for the
• 56:16
Speaker 2: Kansas City Chiefs. Now quickly, buck go ahead one more
• 56:18
  Speaker 2: on that one.
• 56:19
Speaker 4: No, no, no, I was gonna say this It's funny that
• 56:20
Speaker 4: we're seeing that right because I felt like, have mahomes
• 56:23
Speaker 4: look good and there's been a lot of attention on
• 56:25
Speaker 4: what he's done in terms of conditioning, but Dak Prescott too,
• 56:28
Speaker 4: as that's where I was going next, getting lean, getting fit,
• 56:31
Speaker 4: That's being a big part of it. We rarely talk
• 56:33
Speaker 4: about quarterbacks and fitness and conditioning, but it matters, and
• 56:37
Speaker 4: we're seeing some of the best in the business really
• 56:39
Speaker 4: double down on making sure that their bodies are right
• 56:42
Speaker 4: as they hit into the season.
• 56:44
Speaker 2: That's why I was going to go with the last
• 56:45
Speaker 2: one because that was the other game we didn't get
• 56:46
Speaker 2: a chance to visit on and that was the opener
• 56:49
Speaker 2: with Dallas and Philly. Jalen Hurts, you know, making the
• 56:52
Speaker 2: plays that need to be made, using his legs, whatever
• 56:54
Speaker 2: it takes. That defense up front is young, fast and physical.
• 56:59
Speaker 2: Jalen Carter doesn't play. I thought that that impacted them
• 57:01
Speaker 2: for the first half and then they kind of settled
• 57:04
Speaker 2: in defensively. I did think he was interesting when you
• 57:07
Speaker 2: look at an issue that popped up at corner and
• 57:09
Speaker 2: they were getting attacked there with a Dori Jackson and
• 57:11
Speaker 2: then all of a sudden, Uh, you know we're recording
• 57:14
Speaker 2: this on a Monday morning. There's reports they were looking
• 57:16
Speaker 2: at bringing in a Nickel, I think was it Hilton
• 57:18
Speaker 2: with Mike Hilton it was, but bringing in someone that
• 57:21
Speaker 2: would then Cook kick Cooper Dejene outside. But I mean, look,
• 57:24
Speaker 2: the Eagles aren't. They're not, you know, labeled the smartest
• 57:27
Speaker 2: organization in the NFL for no reason. They know that
• 57:29
Speaker 2: was a problem and they're going to have to try
• 57:30
  Speaker 2: and address that.
• 57:31
  Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, look, here's the thing. I don't think
• 57:33
Speaker 4: anybody had them the beingo card that the Dory Jackson
• 57:35
Speaker 4: would be a starting quarterback for the defending champions. Like
• 57:37
Speaker 4: when you bring him in, you're thinking about veteran depths,
• 57:40
Speaker 4: ub packages, nickel, dime quarter situations where he comes in
• 57:44
Speaker 4: as part of a five, six, seven defensive back package.
• 57:47
Speaker 4: And what they found out quickly is, hey, we can't
• 57:49
Speaker 4: have him on the island as a one or two
• 57:52
Speaker 4: kicking Cooper Degene back outside where we've seen him have
• 57:55
Speaker 4: some success. He can to have success inside. But it
• 57:57
Speaker 4: makes sense to me, those young athletic corners, did they've
• 58:00
Speaker 4: invest in it, man, Put them on the field. Let
• 58:02
Speaker 4: them do it, because they're good enough. Vig FANJOI figure
• 58:04
Speaker 4: out a way to make sure that they're playing to
• 58:06
Speaker 4: their stress. This team has it all and even when
• 58:09
Speaker 4: they didn't have their a game during our coronation night,
• 58:13
Speaker 4: there's still plenty good enough to be able to win
• 58:15
Speaker 4: and that is scared for the rest of the league.
• 58:17
Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll get to it later in the week. I
• 58:19
Speaker 2: think Mayock, We're gonna have mayok on to talk a
• 58:21
Speaker 2: lot about that Chiefs Eagles game that's coming up. But
• 58:25
Speaker 2: that's gonna be a lot of fun to watch that
• 58:26
Speaker 2: contest coming up this next weekend. But what a great
• 58:29
Speaker 2: weekend of football. One more game tonight. We will discuss
• 58:32
Speaker 2: that on tomorrow show as well as RHTT rejoins us.
• 58:34
Speaker 2: We'll do the rookie draft. We'll hit on these games
• 58:36
Speaker 2: we did not hit on today. But man, what a
• 58:38
Speaker 2: treat having Baldi with us on Mondays. It's just it's
• 58:42
  Speaker 2: next level.
• 58:43
  Speaker 3: Man.
• 58:43
Speaker 2: It's fun to be able to dive into these games.
• 58:45
Speaker 4: I mean, it was a lot of fun.
• 58:46
  Speaker 3: Baldy's great.
• 58:47
Speaker 4: He's terrific when it comes to like taking what he's
• 58:49
Speaker 4: able to see on film and explain it. I just
• 58:51
Speaker 4: love that conversation, I think, and that only makes us smart.
• 58:54
Speaker 4: I think it makes everyone who listens in smarter because
• 58:56
  Speaker 4: that's a real ball conversation.
• 58:58
Speaker 2: If you've made it all the way to the end
• 59:00
Speaker 2: the episode today, than than you enjoyed it. And if
• 59:02
Speaker 2: you did enjoy it, I would encourage you to leave
• 59:04
Speaker 2: us a rating, leave us a review. We don't ask
• 59:06
Speaker 2: you to do that very often. We've been doing this
• 59:07
Speaker 2: show for over a decade, but every now and then,
• 59:09
Speaker 2: liket hermind. Folks, Hey little let's help get the word
• 59:11
Speaker 2: out there. This is a it's a fun show to
