- 0:04Speaker 1: suitable for all audiences. Listener discretion is advised. Welcome to
- 0:10Speaker 1: Patriot's Unfiltered. Matt Barrels and Disney World. Hitting up that
- 0:16Speaker 1: Star wars out in Disneyland. Disneyland please, Disneyland is for
- 0:21Speaker 1: the original Lily Tomlin. Yeah, you know, I know all
- 0:28Speaker 1: scripts have wrinkles, but this is Yeah, but I don't
- 0:32Speaker 1: like all that of us. A kind of milk I like,
- 0:34Speaker 1: just like milk. Milk with the red cat, you can
- 0:36Speaker 1: get like regular milks. That's what I want with the
- 0:39Speaker 1: red cap. Chris with the T I A N writes
- 0:42Speaker 1: in milk with the red cap. I mean, I'm sad
- 0:45Speaker 1: it's true. Though it's true. It is true. Generally milk
- 0:48Speaker 1: is for us more. He's a child in Indiana. It's
- 0:54Speaker 1: a who am I game? I have a slotty cat
- 0:56Speaker 1: and I like to eat sawdust. What LEO, I another
- 1:01Speaker 1: about your cat? Yeah? This is Patriot's Unfiltered, fueled by Duncan.
- 1:09Speaker 1: All right back here on Patriots Unfiltered. Not back here.
- 1:13Speaker 1: Welcome to Patriots Unfiltered. It is Tuesday here at Gillette
- 1:17Speaker 1: Stadium and UH Combine starting up. So that's the big
- 1:22Speaker 1: thing this week. Deuce is out there along with some
- 1:25Speaker 1: of our content team, and uh, perhaps he'll be calling
- 1:29Speaker 1: in at some point during the show. But back here,
- 1:32Speaker 1: it's Paul, it's Eric, it's me, it's Matt. Back from
- 1:34Speaker 1: vacation Disney World. Yeah, yeah, we were reveling in that
- 1:38Speaker 1: he's had a great time. Just I didn't get into
- 1:41Speaker 1: Star Wars. It's a magic disappointment. He went there. He
- 1:44Speaker 1: just didn't get on that one ride. You can go
- 1:46Speaker 1: on the Millennium Falcon. On the Millennium Falcon, I didn't
- 1:48Speaker 1: get on the ride of the Resistance. Wait in an
- 1:50Speaker 1: hour and then they closed it down. Fall right, you
- 1:52Speaker 1: got you got into the world. Okay, Galaxy's Edges? Okay, okay,
- 1:57Speaker 1: could you beat anybody up? Waited for an hour and
- 2:00Speaker 1: then they close it down? Do they know who you had?
- 2:03Speaker 1: Some words we exchange. So he had a great time,
- 2:07Speaker 1: magical place that Disney World. Okay. I know a lot
- 2:11Speaker 1: of people, A lot of people don't like it, but
- 2:13Speaker 1: I do. Oh what's not to like? Doesn't like it?
- 2:17Speaker 1: I want to doesn't like anything. I want to go
- 2:19Speaker 1: to the Galaxy's Edge. Is that what you said? Matt. Yeah,
- 2:22Speaker 1: I'll go see that. Okay, that's all I care about,
- 2:26Speaker 1: all right, I don't have kids. The only thing I
- 2:27Speaker 1: would say, and this is more from word of mouth,
- 2:30Speaker 1: I'd be curious to hear what how Matt thinks A
- 2:33Speaker 1: lot of people lately that have gone. I haven't gone
- 2:35Speaker 1: probably in ten years. I haven't been there. Um. A
- 2:38Speaker 1: lot of people talking about it's really sort of regimented now,
- 2:43Speaker 1: like everybody because of the dawn of apps and yeah,
- 2:47Speaker 1: the gain that it's all passes, it's all regimented and
- 2:51Speaker 1: it kind of takes away some of the fun of them.
- 2:53Speaker 1: I don't like that either, what I've heard, I haven't
- 2:55Speaker 1: been there. I don't like having to be at a
- 2:57Speaker 1: place at a certain time. You know. Anyway, We're not
- 3:00Speaker 1: gonna get into disor we're gonna we're gonna talk patriots.
- 3:03Speaker 1: It's like, you know, us into the show. We're talking.
- 3:07Speaker 1: So the Yeah, the combine is UM. The first part
- 3:10Speaker 1: of the combine is about to get under way. Some
- 3:13Speaker 1: coaches and uh gms slash decision makers for teams will
- 3:19Speaker 1: start their press conferences UM shortly in Indie and as
- 3:24Speaker 1: as Fred alluded to, Mike do sou Is they're holding
- 3:27Speaker 1: it down. Um, please don't yell at me. Um. On
- 3:31Speaker 1: the on the nineteenth year, Paul took a break, Okay, no, Um,
- 3:35Speaker 1: we just sort of decided to do it a little
- 3:37Speaker 1: bit differently this year. And I will absolutely be monitoring
- 3:41Speaker 1: everything I can from the combine from home, and Mike
- 3:45Speaker 1: is there with a group of other We have a
- 3:48Speaker 1: group of five. Yeah, we got social social stuff. We're
- 3:51Speaker 1: well represented in Indie and we'll have as much of
- 3:53Speaker 1: that information for you as we can. But a couple
- 3:55Speaker 1: of guys today, Freddy, that I'm interested in we'll hear
- 3:58Speaker 1: from the Bill's contingent. Always I was interested in the
- 4:00Speaker 1: AFC East. So Sean McDermot and Brandon Bean are scheduled
- 4:04Speaker 1: to to speak this afternoon. Brian Dable for the Giants,
- 4:08Speaker 1: Nick Cassario for the Texans. Some Patriots ties there always
- 4:12Speaker 1: like to hear what Kevin Colbert has to say. Yeah, yeah,
- 4:14Speaker 1: even though he is on his way out from the
- 4:16Speaker 1: Steelers in Pittsburgh, he is one of the best. So
- 4:18Speaker 1: and then the Buccaneers contingent of light and Arians. You
- 4:22Speaker 1: never know what Arians will say. So, I mean, there's
- 4:24Speaker 1: all kinds of stuff we're gonna get into that. The
- 4:27Speaker 1: rumors and gossip going from Tampa Bay and Brady, and
- 4:31Speaker 1: I mean it's crazy because if true, man, that would
- 4:35Speaker 1: really disrupt the AFC East for the Patriots, you know, uh,
- 4:40Speaker 1: And I might as well just say yeah. I mean,
- 4:43Speaker 1: there's rumors that, uh, Brady and Derek Jeter want to
- 4:51Speaker 1: become minority owners of the Buccaneers and by the Buccaneers
- 4:54Speaker 1: of the and that Brady would play there and obviously
- 4:59Speaker 1: a lot has to do with the status of Ross
- 5:01Speaker 1: and Floras, and you know, people are just speculating that
- 5:06Speaker 1: if if the whole you know, one hundred thousand dollars
- 5:09Speaker 1: per game to Tank is true and there's actual evidence
- 5:13Speaker 1: that that could be a reason where the other owners
- 5:16Speaker 1: forced him to sell his stake in the team. Um.
- 5:20Speaker 1: I don't know if even then the owners could force
- 5:23Speaker 1: him to do that, because I would imagine be lawsuits
- 5:26Speaker 1: forever blocking that. But but it is interesting that and
- 5:30Speaker 1: I think there's probably a little fire with that smoke
- 5:33Speaker 1: about Brady and Jeter being interested in becoming part owners
- 5:37Speaker 1: of a team. Do you think Brady would play and
- 5:39Speaker 1: be an owner that's what they you know, it would
- 5:41Speaker 1: be awesome. Yeah, I think fans would their heads would explode.
- 5:46Speaker 1: You have to play him twice? Oh, I didn't know.
- 5:49Speaker 1: I didn't necessarily mean it for that. I just met
- 5:51Speaker 1: just the prospect of him Dolphins fans. I'm having a
- 5:53Speaker 1: partial ownership in the Dolphins, Oh yeah, and playing at
- 5:56Speaker 1: the same time, like heaven can wait. I don't think
- 5:58Speaker 1: I didn't. Yeah, I don't think there's ever been a
- 6:01Speaker 1: point where a player in the NFL had part ownership
- 6:05Speaker 1: of a team. Didn't didn't your guy Elway at one
- 6:08Speaker 1: point have an offer two I believe they an owner
- 6:12Speaker 1: or alive. They got sanctions for that. No, but that
- 6:14Speaker 1: was for Stocks, yeah, I think, And I think they
- 6:16Speaker 1: got in trouble for that because it was deemed a
- 6:18Speaker 1: salary cap violation. Yeah yeah, yeah, But it wasn't Stocks
- 6:21Speaker 1: in the team. It was wasn't it the team. I
- 6:25Speaker 1: thought he would have a partial ownership, but that is
- 6:27Speaker 1: normally the case on Patriots unfiltered, we have enough information
- 6:32Speaker 1: to get to be dangerous. But but but not the
- 6:34Speaker 1: real not the real. But I don't know. If I
- 6:36Speaker 1: don't like in baseball, they're probably There's been player managers
- 6:41Speaker 1: and own part owners right back in the day, like
- 6:44Speaker 1: an old time. I don't think anything in modern times. No,
- 6:49Speaker 1: not in modern times. Mario Lemie would be the one
- 6:52Speaker 1: guy right he was playing, he saved the Penguins from
- 6:57Speaker 1: bankruptcy and became a part owner. Yeah, but I don't.
- 7:01Speaker 1: In the NFL, it's just the money is just too high,
- 7:04Speaker 1: like even for Brady and Jeter, Like they can't afford
- 7:07Speaker 1: to outright own a team. No, they'd be partial, right,
- 7:10Speaker 1: they'd be partial. Dolphins already have like a bunch of money,
- 7:12Speaker 1: do they do? You know? But don't don't. I mean,
- 7:22Speaker 1: in all seriousness, don't most teams, if not all, have
- 7:27Speaker 1: like a codra of minority owners. Patriots don't. They don't
- 7:30Speaker 1: have any, Nope, not that I know of. I think
- 7:34Speaker 1: we would. I think they did, No, now, yeah, I
- 7:37Speaker 1: don't think so. I think it's completely the Craft family.
- 7:40Speaker 1: You would know more about that, Yeah, I have never
- 7:42Speaker 1: heard of any. Yeah would don't you think we would
- 7:45Speaker 1: have heard about such people? But at this point like
- 7:47Speaker 1: that they would have come out because in general they're
- 7:50Speaker 1: not famous people. It's not like Jay. I don't think
- 7:52Speaker 1: like j Low is a minority. Yeah, No, it's some
- 7:55Speaker 1: like as far as I know, I'm saying, like it's
- 7:58Speaker 1: some bank guy that you never heard of he owns Like,
- 8:02Speaker 1: but like, that's what I always thought. But don't you
- 8:04Speaker 1: think that would have been don't you think that would
- 8:06Speaker 1: have been in this day and age with you know,
- 8:08Speaker 1: everybody thinking that they're a celebrity on social media, Like
- 8:11Speaker 1: that would have come out and somebody would have done
- 8:13Speaker 1: a story on, Hey, look who the Patriots minority I
- 8:15Speaker 1: don't I don't think, but I think that's that'd be
- 8:18Speaker 1: a good problem, Like who are the minority owners in
- 8:21Speaker 1: the NFL? Like you don't know about him except for
- 8:24Speaker 1: Miami because they've been well publicized and all the people
- 8:26Speaker 1: in Green Bay. Yeah, well that's nobody owns it. That's
- 8:29Speaker 1: nobody's Alice, by the way, that that needs to be
- 8:32Speaker 1: done away with that, that whole grandfather that's nonsense. You
- 8:37Speaker 1: want somebody to buy the Packers? I do enough enough?
- 8:41Speaker 1: Um so it has written so yeah, But so like
- 8:44Speaker 1: who are the minority owners for the various teams in
- 8:47Speaker 1: the NFL? You know as here Francis W. Murray is
- 8:51Speaker 1: the minority owner of the Patriots. Oh that's the former.
- 8:54Speaker 1: Um now he's the former Murray. He wanted, right, wasn't
- 9:00Speaker 1: wasn't he a banker? I don't think so. He might
- 9:01Speaker 1: be a banker, but not for Bank of a Marria.
- 9:03Speaker 1: Well okay, but he was a bank executive. I sorry, what,
- 9:07Speaker 1: oh that was years ago? Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm just
- 9:09Speaker 1: gonna say, Murray looking at something from twenty and fifteen
- 9:13Speaker 1: that says minority owners none, yeah, yeah for this team. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 9:19Speaker 1: fran Murray was he wanted to buy the Patriots at
- 9:22Speaker 1: one time. He was he was a competitor to Robert
- 9:25Speaker 1: Kraft to to be to buy the team back then.
- 9:30Speaker 1: Like he's you know, but yeah, I'm I'm pretty sure
- 9:33Speaker 1: there are no minority owners for the Patriots. But that's
- 9:37Speaker 1: not the case with every team. A lot of Tommies
- 9:39Speaker 1: that have a lot of teams that have h you know,
- 9:41Speaker 1: the owner that you see who's the face is usually
- 9:44Speaker 1: like a fifty one percent exactly. Well, there's a league
- 9:47Speaker 1: rule that there has to be one person who is
- 9:50Speaker 1: you know, he's the one that gets to make the decision.
- 9:52Speaker 1: He represents the team, right, you know. By speaking of that,
- 9:57Speaker 1: I watched The House of Gucci, that movie, Yeah, how
- 10:00Speaker 1: was it? Very good? And those people who say that
- 10:03Speaker 1: Lady Gaga was snubbed by oscars. Are right. I didn't
- 10:06Speaker 1: even know it was her until after the movie. She
- 10:09Speaker 1: does a fabulous You didn't know that. You didn't see
- 10:11Speaker 1: any like previews, trailers or anything. No, really, Yeah she
- 10:15Speaker 1: was great and I didn't even know. Like I said,
- 10:17Speaker 1: I didn't even know it was her until afterwards. Oh
- 10:19Speaker 1: yeah she's good. She was good. And um star is
- 10:21Speaker 1: born too. I liked her in that. Yeah, so good movie.
- 10:24Speaker 1: I wouldn't say great, but you know, okay, and you
- 10:27Speaker 1: know the fact that it's all based on fact, right
- 10:29Speaker 1: makes it even more interesting. Yeah, anyway, back to uh,
- 10:33Speaker 1: minority owners m Yeah, so I just think it would
- 10:36Speaker 1: be interesting to see who which teams have a lot
- 10:39Speaker 1: of minority I think the Dolphins have quite a few. Yeah, yea,
- 10:43Speaker 1: because I think that was one of Ross's things when
- 10:45Speaker 1: he got the team was remember he institute of the
- 10:47Speaker 1: whole orange carpet thing. Used to see what like the
- 10:49Speaker 1: whole celebrity like, oh, it's an event, let's show up
- 10:52Speaker 1: and get our picture taken. Right. Yeah that Michael Anthony,
- 10:57Speaker 1: that guy he's Mark But yeah, Michael, that's how Jayla
- 11:02Speaker 1: lost her ownership stock when she did. Yeah. So yeah,
- 11:08Speaker 1: the the NFL is an interesting so Brady and Jeter.
- 11:14Speaker 1: I wonder if they would they be the majority, Like,
- 11:18Speaker 1: I don't think. I don't think they could, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 1: because you know, the league has to you know, all
- 11:27Speaker 1: the owners have to approve any new owner and they
- 11:30Speaker 1: have to go through like these financial tests and everything
- 11:32Speaker 1: like that. I just don't see the two, even the
- 11:34Speaker 1: two of them having enough money. You have to have
- 11:37Speaker 1: for money, do you think at least a billion? Right, well, yeah,
- 11:41Speaker 1: I mean to spend well, the you know, the value
- 11:44Speaker 1: of the Miami Dolphins is probably like three billion, now
- 11:47Speaker 1: three four billion, because they own their own stadium, right. Um, well,
- 11:52Speaker 1: look up the Forbes from last year. I mean, they
- 11:55Speaker 1: have the ranking of the top uh uh sports franchises
- 11:58Speaker 1: in the world, and I don't think the Dolphins were
- 12:00Speaker 1: in the top two, you know, the Patriots and like
- 12:02Speaker 1: I don't think I think very few owners or when
- 12:05Speaker 1: people buy a team, they put it, they buy, they
- 12:07Speaker 1: spend cash. You know, it gets financed sum. But I
- 12:10Speaker 1: think you have to have a certain amount liquid sure,
- 12:13Speaker 1: you know. Um, like David Tepper was one of the
- 12:17Speaker 1: more recent buyers. He bought the pan Panthers and he
- 12:20Speaker 1: I think he had the cash, you know. He I
- 12:24Speaker 1: just looked up Brady's net worth and Giselle's network and
- 12:26Speaker 1: it said Brady's was four fifty and Giselle's was four hundred.
- 12:29Speaker 1: But I don't know if Brady's is sort of including Gizelle. Yeah,
- 12:33Speaker 1: but even if they're worth together is a billion dollars,
- 12:36Speaker 1: that's not cash, No, but they're worth neither is I
- 12:39Speaker 1: mean like Roberts the family, they don't have that right
- 12:42Speaker 1: build those billions in cash. And I do know that,
- 12:45Speaker 1: you know, at that time when the Crafts bought the team,
- 12:47Speaker 1: now back then they only paid one hundred and seventy
- 12:50Speaker 1: million dollars only, you know, and that was the most
- 12:54Speaker 1: ever paid for a team at the time. As a
- 12:56Speaker 1: point of comparison, I just did the same thing for
- 12:59Speaker 1: Robert Kraft net worth eight point three billion, right, right,
- 13:02Speaker 1: So yeah, talking about a different level. Right. So, so
- 13:06Speaker 1: even at the time, even at only quote one hundred
- 13:09Speaker 1: and seventy million dollars, the Crafts had to have Bank
- 13:12Speaker 1: of America pretty much finance this thing. And it was
- 13:15Speaker 1: based on the clubs. So they got the financing because
- 13:19Speaker 1: they had they were had ten year contracts for those
- 13:22Speaker 1: club seats and that was basically the collateral, if you will,
- 13:27Speaker 1: for Bank of America financing the purchase. You know, you
- 13:31Speaker 1: had those ten year contracts in place, and that was
- 13:35Speaker 1: you know, Bank of America said, okay, this is a
- 13:36Speaker 1: sound investment for us. They were expecting people to buy
- 13:40Speaker 1: those club seats yeah, and finance. Yeah. And you know
- 13:43Speaker 1: since then, the Crafts have paid back bank of America there,
- 13:46Speaker 1: you know, but but you know, even at one hundred
- 13:49Speaker 1: and seventy million at that time, they needed, you know,
- 13:52Speaker 1: Bank of America to step up. And a lot of
- 13:54Speaker 1: these rich people they're smart. They don't spend their own money.
- 13:57Speaker 1: They rarely spend their own money when you when you
- 14:00Speaker 1: see them, Oh they bought you know, this thing for
- 14:02Speaker 1: fifty million, this house for it's all they mortgage. It's
- 14:06Speaker 1: just like us. And but they're getting like such favorable
- 14:09Speaker 1: rates because of their credit, Like it's like free money
- 14:13Speaker 1: for them. You know, they have to pay it back,
- 14:15Speaker 1: but you know, they don't spend their own way. And
- 14:18Speaker 1: that's how you find out about some of these things
- 14:20Speaker 1: with like the scandals like that show now with the
- 14:23Speaker 1: German Room. Anna, Yeah, it was inventing Anna, Like that's
- 14:27Speaker 1: how it happens is you automatically assume, oh, this is
- 14:32Speaker 1: some errors, so you know, some fit whatever, and every
- 14:35Speaker 1: once in a while this is a scandal and a
- 14:36Speaker 1: scam and the banks get beat. Yeah. Yeah, So it's
- 14:41Speaker 1: it'd be interesting to see what happens with that whole
- 14:43Speaker 1: Dolphin situation in the Flora suit and everything attached to that.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Um So, I don't know, I I Well, I said, well,
- 14:53Speaker 1: like I root for Tom Brady and everything he does,
- 14:56Speaker 1: I don't want this to happen. Well. The more interesting
- 15:00Speaker 1: I think element of that the Brady story in Miami
- 15:03Speaker 1: is that the thing that Floria reported earlier in the
- 15:06Speaker 1: week about tying Sean Payton and Brady to the Dolphins. Yeah,
- 15:12Speaker 1: and then this whole Brian Florish thing is sort of
- 15:15Speaker 1: throwing a whole monkey wrench into that, right. Well, that
- 15:17Speaker 1: was the whole thing they wanted to They asked New
- 15:20Speaker 1: Orleans for permission to talk to Peyton, and that was
- 15:24Speaker 1: one of the things in the floor is that Ross
- 15:27Speaker 1: wanted Flores to Tampa with Brady while Brady was in Miami,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and Flores said no. But then the you know, the
- 15:33Speaker 1: Florist suit kind of blew up everything. But like I said,
- 15:37Speaker 1: if if you know, if they can find the smoking
- 15:42Speaker 1: gun and the owners have the backbone to force Ross out,
- 15:47Speaker 1: it opens it up for other people to swoop in,
- 15:50Speaker 1: just by comparison's sake. I looked up the last year's
- 15:53Speaker 1: Forbes Top fifty sports franchises in the world. Dolphins were
- 15:57Speaker 1: number thirty five at two point nine billion. Okay. In
- 16:00Speaker 1: last year's list, New England was in the top ten.
- 16:03Speaker 1: They were um eighth in the world at four point
- 16:10Speaker 1: four billion. Yep, so that includes the stadium obviously, yeah. Sure,
- 16:14Speaker 1: And and Matt just texted me an update that the
- 16:18Speaker 1: Dolphins are now projected to be worth about three point
- 16:21Speaker 1: four girls, so a little bit more than last year,
- 16:22Speaker 1: which because they upgraded the stadium probably. I mean, I
- 16:25Speaker 1: don't know how accurate those Forbes things are. I mean,
- 16:28Speaker 1: but you know, the team so to speak. Yeah, the
- 16:32Speaker 1: Panthers just went for what three billion or something like that,
- 16:35Speaker 1: So you know, I just can't imagine that they're, you know,
- 16:39Speaker 1: listed at being worth four billion, but they're really only
- 16:41Speaker 1: worth one. Yeah, like it's got to be close. Yeah, yeah.
- 16:44Speaker 1: And I think what's a what's a couple of mill here?
- 16:46Speaker 1: I mean, I think, what help what helps these valuations
- 16:50Speaker 1: for the NFL is it's it's the money is guaranteed
- 16:55Speaker 1: for the most part, those TV revenue contracts. I mean
- 16:58Speaker 1: they're done for ten years, so it's guaranteed revenue for
- 17:01Speaker 1: at least ten years. And they're, like Paul said, they're
- 17:03Speaker 1: not going anywhere. They're they're not going down. And then
- 17:06Speaker 1: you know, getting to the you know, this is more
- 17:09Speaker 1: like sort of things that are kind of topical in
- 17:11Speaker 1: the NFL the last week or so, like the TV
- 17:15Speaker 1: contracts you're talking about, Freddie. Look at some of the
- 17:18Speaker 1: dollars being dangled in front of these announcers, color analysts, Right,
- 17:23Speaker 1: Like Troy Aikman is going to ESPN, He's gonna go
- 17:27Speaker 1: to Monday Night Football for astronomical let's say, like eighteen
- 17:31Speaker 1: millions something. Do you think it's worth it? No? God no,
- 17:34Speaker 1: Why do they do that then? Because they're going to
- 17:36Speaker 1: make money? No, I know, but they know it. But
- 17:38Speaker 1: you're going to make money regardless to make it. Stump like,
- 17:41Speaker 1: why do you agree? Yeah? I don't think they're gonna
- 17:43Speaker 1: make any more money right with Troy Aikman calling games
- 17:46Speaker 1: than they would with Bryan Greasy and Lewis Riddick, Right, like,
- 17:49Speaker 1: somebody did a poll. I think it was your guy,
- 17:50Speaker 1: Chad Finn did a poll the other day. Have you
- 17:53Speaker 1: ever watched a sports you know? Because of the I
- 18:00Speaker 1: and the eight percent were represented by Megan O'Brien anders
- 18:07Speaker 1: voting like right, Like I like certain announcers, but like
- 18:10Speaker 1: I'm not watch because oh John Madden isn't doing it.
- 18:13Speaker 1: I'm not watching, right, you know. Yeah, so I think
- 18:17Speaker 1: the value of these guys is overrated. I really do
- 18:20Speaker 1: think the play by play guy is much more important
- 18:23Speaker 1: than the color guy. Don't you know the flow of
- 18:25Speaker 1: the game. I don't. I don't really care about either one.
- 18:28Speaker 1: But I would rather like if you're a guy who's
- 18:30Speaker 1: telling me something I don't know, then a guy who's
- 18:32Speaker 1: telling me it's first and ten. Yeah, well, I don't know.
- 18:35Speaker 1: Remember when back in the day the Jets experimented with
- 18:38Speaker 1: the game where there were no announcers. It was it
- 18:41Speaker 1: was an n Yeah, it wasn't like the Jets experimented.
- 18:44Speaker 1: It was the Jets Dolphins. Yeah, but yeah, yeah, NBC
- 18:47Speaker 1: um nineteen eighty. I believe they only did it once though,
- 18:51Speaker 1: you know, like for whatever reason, they didn't do it again. Yeah,
- 18:54Speaker 1: I mean there is value in having somebody, you know,
- 18:57Speaker 1: because you're just jumping in. It's the the second quarter,
- 19:00Speaker 1: you don't know what the hell's going I think you
- 19:02Speaker 1: need announcers. Yeah, I'm not necessarily because of every play,
- 19:06Speaker 1: but like when something happens, when there's a replay, when
- 19:09Speaker 1: there's something going on in the field, you know, and
- 19:11Speaker 1: they're telling you devil watch a game at a bar
- 19:13Speaker 1: and you're like, wait, what happened on this play? Was
- 19:15Speaker 1: he in bound? Like sometimes you need the volume just
- 19:18Speaker 1: to find out if he was in bounce? Yeah, you know, like, hey,
- 19:21Speaker 1: what happened on that? Oh there was a penalty on that?
- 19:23Speaker 1: Like you didn't see the explanation, you know. I don't know,
- 19:27Speaker 1: but I think announcers are important, but not eighteen million.
- 19:31Speaker 1: Can you imagine, like back to the announcing thing with
- 19:35Speaker 1: the money that they're throwing around, could you imagine that.
- 19:39Speaker 1: I don't know how serious it was, but I think
- 19:41Speaker 1: it was legit that Sean McVay, a thirty six year
- 19:44Speaker 1: old head coach of the Super Bowl champion, was literally
- 19:49Speaker 1: legitimately contemplating leaving coaching to be going into the booth.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Now he has since said no, he's not doing that
- 19:57Speaker 1: and I don't know if he ever fiance his wife
- 19:59Speaker 1: or fiance. Don't know. I don't know if he ever
- 20:01Speaker 1: seriously was contemplating it or not. But that's the kind
- 20:06Speaker 1: of money. Like he's at the top of his profession,
- 20:09Speaker 1: which I assume was something that he has always dreamed about.
- 20:13Speaker 1: He's thirty six years old, so it's not like he's
- 20:17Speaker 1: like done and he was literally contemplating leaving to go
- 20:23Speaker 1: be go in the booth. I mean, he could coach
- 20:25Speaker 1: ten more years and still have a long career as
- 20:28Speaker 1: as an analyst, if that's something he wants to do.
- 20:30Speaker 1: But that's the kind of money they're throwing around. Yeah,
- 20:33Speaker 1: I don't know. I think it's I think it's a
- 20:36Speaker 1: good life. You know, you get to cover different teams.
- 20:39Speaker 1: You know, it's it's as krusha gig as you can get. Well,
- 20:43Speaker 1: I think they work hard. I think they do a
- 20:44Speaker 1: lot of prep, you know, sure, but I mean good ones,
- 20:48Speaker 1: not heavy lifting. Yeah, no, you know. I think they
- 20:51Speaker 1: do a lot of prep. But I don't think it's hard. Anyway,
- 20:56Speaker 1: we got on the wrong line. Well we'll get Beasley
- 20:58Speaker 1: Reese and Ian Cross or who IRV Cross? I an
- 21:04Speaker 1: eagle IRV Cross and Beasley rees he gets the Beasley
- 21:08Speaker 1: Reese right. Beasley Reese is is a local joke that
- 21:11Speaker 1: maybe some of our listeners don't get. But when when
- 21:14Speaker 1: Fred and I were, you know, youngsters watching the Patriots
- 21:18Speaker 1: every week, getting the D list announces we got stuck
- 21:23Speaker 1: with Beasley Reese, like nineteen eighty two, it's the Patriots
- 21:27Speaker 1: Jets here in foxborow Beasley Reese right. Yeah, it was
- 21:31Speaker 1: was always the color commentator, and you know, we just
- 21:33Speaker 1: you knew you had the worst crew of the week
- 21:36Speaker 1: this year was James Lofton. We had him like a
- 21:39Speaker 1: half dozen times. I think, yeah, see, I think that
- 21:42Speaker 1: when you listen back to your point, like, would you
- 21:44Speaker 1: ever watching watch or not watch because of that? I
- 21:47Speaker 1: think you're just so used to the Patriots always being
- 21:50Speaker 1: in the spotlight. So it was always Jim Nance and
- 21:53Speaker 1: Phil Simms and now to Ye and when you were
- 21:56Speaker 1: on Fox, it's always Joe Buck and Troy Aikman. But
- 21:59Speaker 1: I think if you got games on a more consistent basis,
- 22:03Speaker 1: with the lesser cruise, you become more accustomed to how
- 22:10Speaker 1: they look at the game and how they call the game.
- 22:12Speaker 1: Trent Green and Dan Fouts, Yeah, those guys you know
- 22:15Speaker 1: they is good. No, probably not, otherwise they would probably
- 22:18Speaker 1: move up. But I don't think it's something that you
- 22:21Speaker 1: would look and say, oh, I can't watch this game.
- 22:23Speaker 1: And believe me, I nitpick at all the mistakes they
- 22:26Speaker 1: make all the time, just like everybody else does. Well,
- 22:28Speaker 1: I do. I do think there are there are announces
- 22:31Speaker 1: you enjoy listening to more than others. Yeah, you know,
- 22:33Speaker 1: guys who aren't as polished as analysts as others. And
- 22:37Speaker 1: I mean I know some people try even the trick
- 22:40Speaker 1: of turning down the TV volume and turning on the
- 22:42Speaker 1: radio because they like hearing. Yeah, our local guys call
- 22:45Speaker 1: it more. But I mean most most people don't go
- 22:48Speaker 1: that far. But well it's hard now with the delay
- 22:51Speaker 1: it up. I used to do that back in the
- 22:53Speaker 1: day with Celtics. I turn up Johnny most listen to
- 22:56Speaker 1: him and watch the game on TV. I honestly never
- 22:58Speaker 1: did that once something now if I know every everybody
- 23:00Speaker 1: who says they did, I did it. Yeah, I never
- 23:02Speaker 1: did it. I tried doing it at the Super Bowl
- 23:05Speaker 1: when we were sitting there in the press box, but
- 23:06Speaker 1: the delay was too long. It was like almost a
- 23:08Speaker 1: full two plays before the thing would catch up. It's like,
- 23:11Speaker 1: at that point it's worthless. I loved listen at Johnny Moss.
- 23:16Speaker 1: He was he was the worst and the best at
- 23:18Speaker 1: the same Yeah, Like he wasn't that good, but he
- 23:21Speaker 1: was just such a character. Yeah. Um. The other thing
- 23:24Speaker 1: that was announced the other day International Games for this year.
- 23:29Speaker 1: It's official that Tampa Bay will host the game in Munich. Uh.
- 23:33Speaker 1: And then there's gonna be two games in London, three
- 23:37Speaker 1: three games in London in a game in Mexico. Um.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Arizona has the Mexico game. Yeah, they're the home team
- 23:43Speaker 1: for that. Packers Saints will play at Tottenham Hotspur and
- 23:49Speaker 1: Jacks will play at Wembley. Yep. So um, likely the
- 23:54Speaker 1: Patriots will not be involved in any of those um.
- 23:57Speaker 1: And a lot of people were surprised at the Patriot's
- 24:00Speaker 1: weren't the team in Germany? Um. And it comes down to,
- 24:04Speaker 1: you know, the Patriots only have eight home games this year.
- 24:08Speaker 1: Next year they'll have nine home games, and most likely
- 24:13Speaker 1: next year the Patriots will be in line to play
- 24:16Speaker 1: a game in Germany, assuming they give up a home game. Um.
- 24:20Speaker 1: And you know, now, if the Patriots were on Tampa
- 24:23Speaker 1: Bay schedule this year, then that would have been up
- 24:27Speaker 1: and you know, it could have been a possibility that
- 24:29Speaker 1: the Patriots play the Bucks in Germany, but we're not
- 24:31Speaker 1: on the Buccaneers schedule, so that's out of the question.
- 24:37Speaker 1: So there's a chance you would think that, I mean,
- 24:40Speaker 1: logic would tell you that if the Patriots have been
- 24:43Speaker 1: assigned as one of the four teams in the German market,
- 24:46Speaker 1: that they wouldn't be putting the Patriots to play in
- 24:49Speaker 1: London and Mexico, where they've already played in the past. Yeah,
- 24:52Speaker 1: they'd be you know, and they've already they have four teams, right,
- 24:55Speaker 1: it's Panthers, Chiefs, Patriots, Bucks or the four German right
- 24:58Speaker 1: home market teams, and they've come to an agreement with
- 25:02Speaker 1: the next four years having games in Germany, two in
- 25:05Speaker 1: Munich too, in Frankfort, correct, Right, So you have to
- 25:08Speaker 1: assume that over that four year span all four of
- 25:10Speaker 1: those teams are going to host one of those games. Probably, Yeah,
- 25:14Speaker 1: let's hope the Patriots get unit because Frankfort's quite not
- 25:16Speaker 1: is attractive an option. But um yeah, so this year
- 25:22Speaker 1: probably know, Kansas City, Are they on Tampa Bay's schedule?
- 25:25Speaker 1: I don't know, but because that would be a likely matchup.
- 25:29Speaker 1: If so they played last year, Um, yeah, I don't
- 25:33Speaker 1: think that. I don't know if that, I don't know
- 25:36Speaker 1: if they are that might not eliminate. Um, yeah, but
- 25:40Speaker 1: they did play, No, they didn't play last year? What
- 25:43Speaker 1: am I? What am I thinking? I was thinking of
- 25:44Speaker 1: two years? Anyway about Kansas City schedule? Hold on play
- 25:48Speaker 1: him in the Super Bowl last year. So even though
- 25:53Speaker 1: the Patriots aren't playing in Germany this year, you're going
- 25:56Speaker 1: to be hearing some Patriots slash German news come up.
- 26:00Speaker 1: So working on working on some stuff, yep. So for
- 26:05Speaker 1: you German fans, um, it's gonna be good. And you know,
- 26:09Speaker 1: I know a lot of our other countries where we're popular,
- 26:12Speaker 1: like Mexico and Kay the Bucks. Yeah yeah, so that
- 26:16Speaker 1: could be Kansas City does play the Bucks. That's well,
- 26:18Speaker 1: that would be uh, I mean twenty twenty two opponents. Yeah,
- 26:21Speaker 1: so that's who German markets. It's likely, Yeah, that's likely. Um,
- 26:26Speaker 1: But you know for the other countries that you know
- 26:28Speaker 1: express concern, why well, how come the Patriots aren't hmmas
- 26:31Speaker 1: aren't home teams in our country. It's like UK and
- 26:34Speaker 1: Mexico and um, Germany. Now, but that doesn't mean down
- 26:39Speaker 1: the road that the Patriots won't submit, um, you know,
- 26:44Speaker 1: a proposal for the other countries too to the league.
- 26:46Speaker 1: So just a logistical question about this, since you're somewhat
- 26:52Speaker 1: involved in all this stuff, Fred, is the goal to
- 26:55Speaker 1: have every team be associated with an international market? I
- 27:01Speaker 1: don't think specifically, no. I think the goal for the
- 27:03Speaker 1: league is just to have to expand the international market.
- 27:07Speaker 1: And they came up with this plan to basically have
- 27:11Speaker 1: the teams do the work of the league. You know.
- 27:15Speaker 1: I think they realize that, you know, teams have been
- 27:18Speaker 1: doing their own stuff in these countries anyway, you know,
- 27:22Speaker 1: so let's kind of open it up and create some competition,
- 27:27Speaker 1: but also have the teams commit to being there. You know.
- 27:30Speaker 1: So in order to have Germany, for example, the Patriots
- 27:33Speaker 1: have to commit to a five year plan. Now, as
- 27:36Speaker 1: far as I'm concerned, we're there forever. You know, We're
- 27:39Speaker 1: not going to like go for five years and then leave.
- 27:42Speaker 1: But you know, they don't want teams going in one
- 27:44Speaker 1: year doing stuff and then leaving, and you know, they
- 27:47Speaker 1: want commitment from the teams. So yeah, I mean the
- 27:51Speaker 1: goal is just to grow the game. Yeah, So I'm
- 27:54Speaker 1: so I'm just thinking, like It wouldn't logically makes sense
- 27:58Speaker 1: to have every team be a soociated with at least
- 28:00Speaker 1: one country. That way, you can really expand your international
- 28:04Speaker 1: But I mean, yeah, but there's only so many countries
- 28:08Speaker 1: I think that are viable honestly, Right, but you already have,
- 28:11Speaker 1: like Germany has four teams right now, I know some
- 28:13Speaker 1: teams some countries only have one team, right, wouldn't it
- 28:15Speaker 1: make sense to like associate it two of the teams
- 28:19Speaker 1: with at least one Yeah, that was just the opening foray.
- 28:22Speaker 1: I think they're they're taking submissions right now from teams
- 28:27Speaker 1: going forward, you know, so they'll at any time a
- 28:29Speaker 1: team can say, hey, you know, we just hired this
- 28:32Speaker 1: Brazilian kicker. Can can we can we get Brazil? You know,
- 28:36Speaker 1: can we go into Brazil? You know, there's a good
- 28:39Speaker 1: reason you can come into any you know, but you
- 28:42Speaker 1: just have to commit. Yeah, you know. Yeah, so that's
- 28:46Speaker 1: their international. Uh news Do do do? Do? Do? Do? All? Right?
- 28:52Speaker 1: Five five five hundred is the a Sticket hut Line
- 28:55Speaker 1: web radio at pagris dot com. Hopefully Douce will be
- 28:58Speaker 1: calling in from Indianapolis at some point give us the
- 29:01Speaker 1: lowdown on what's going on with the combine lots of
- 29:04Speaker 1: emails coming in at web radio at Patriots dot com.
- 29:07Speaker 1: I guess we can get to those. Um No, no
- 29:10Speaker 1: news on the JC Jackson front. Noe. We're a week
- 29:13Speaker 1: in now, and yeah, not surprising given the history that
- 29:16Speaker 1: the Patriots have with the tag and waiting till the
- 29:19Speaker 1: last minute. Um. Yeah, nothing's really changed since last week
- 29:23Speaker 1: when we talked about Jackson making his comments to Phil
- 29:26Speaker 1: Perry about not being happy that you know, he hasn't
- 29:30Speaker 1: had any discussions with the team. But again that's the
- 29:33Speaker 1: way they usually do business anyway. They kind of wait
- 29:35Speaker 1: until they have to deadline, spurring action as you like
- 29:38Speaker 1: to say. Yep, I would say that Eric is mostly right, Um,
- 29:43Speaker 1: that nothing has changed. But I, you know, in the
- 29:46Speaker 1: in the subtle read between the lines, you know, sort
- 29:50Speaker 1: of media thing that I like to do, as you know,
- 29:52Speaker 1: I like to sort of trying to read the team,
- 29:55Speaker 1: my interpretations based on some of the things I do think.
- 29:58Speaker 1: There was a a thing on Sunday Mike Reese's you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: ten ten notes that he likes to post every Sunday.
- 30:05Speaker 1: He sort of indicated that it would be lower odds
- 30:08Speaker 1: for J. C. Jackson to be tagged yep. I don't
- 30:12Speaker 1: think Mike is in the business of just sort of
- 30:15Speaker 1: right he gets something uneducatedly throwing stuff around, right. Uh,
- 30:19Speaker 1: Mike is as good and as thorough as anybody in
- 30:22Speaker 1: the business. Uh, certainly coaching the Patriots, I mean covering
- 30:25Speaker 1: the Patriots. So I would say based on that and
- 30:30Speaker 1: a couple other guys kind of following suit, I would
- 30:34Speaker 1: say that that that maybe the tea leaves are reading
- 30:38Speaker 1: no with a potential tag. Um. I wrote my notes today, um,
- 30:43Speaker 1: and we posted them this morning. And I think it's
- 30:47Speaker 1: a hard decision. We've been talking about her for weeks.
- 30:49Speaker 1: I wouldn't I wouldn't tag him. I would I would
- 30:52Speaker 1: let him walk. If you could get him at some
- 30:54Speaker 1: kind of a some kind of an extension that you
- 30:58Speaker 1: know works for you, then that would be different. But
- 31:01Speaker 1: the one year thing, I think they have more needs
- 31:04Speaker 1: than that would probably handle. So I just texted Mike.
- 31:08Speaker 1: By the way, he's going to try to call in
- 31:10Speaker 1: in the next ten minutes or so. Yeah, but I
- 31:13Speaker 1: think at this point it might be and again it's
- 31:16Speaker 1: not an easy one, but it might be wise for
- 31:18Speaker 1: them to just sort of let it go. I know
- 31:22Speaker 1: some people are upset about that. Then they're already letting
- 31:24Speaker 1: me have it on Twitter, which is okay, that's that's
- 31:26Speaker 1: what that's for. I'm glad people are reading, and I'm
- 31:29Speaker 1: glad they're interacting. I don't feel overly strongly about it. Well.
- 31:33Speaker 1: The other thing though, I think, and I think I
- 31:36Speaker 1: think Mike may have mentioned this in one of the
- 31:38Speaker 1: paragraphs in his notes, was that something we talked about
- 31:42Speaker 1: last week, which was would you want to tag Jackson
- 31:46Speaker 1: if you had a potential trade partner? Do a tag
- 31:48Speaker 1: and trade kind of thing so you get something in return.
- 31:51Speaker 1: And I think Mike threw that in there as a
- 31:53Speaker 1: you know, this being Combine week, all the agents, all
- 31:56Speaker 1: the decision makers are in Indianapolis. This tends to be
- 31:59Speaker 1: sort of a precursor to the legal tampering period in
- 32:04Speaker 1: the three days before the start of the new league year,
- 32:06Speaker 1: where potentially you're talking with other gms, other coaches and
- 32:10Speaker 1: maybe you work out like a handshake agreement deal for J. C. Jackson,
- 32:13Speaker 1: then you at the last minute throw the tag, get
- 32:16Speaker 1: him to sign and deal him. Now, it hasn't happened
- 32:19Speaker 1: a ton of times with the Patriots, maybe twice that
- 32:22Speaker 1: I can think of, twice, yeah, Tebucky Tebucky Jones and
- 32:26Speaker 1: Castle right and Matt Castle. But it's still a possibility
- 32:29Speaker 1: that's out there absolutely. You know. Well, I think that
- 32:31Speaker 1: if you're if the Patriots are willing to like take
- 32:34Speaker 1: a third round pick, I think it's it's a low
- 32:38Speaker 1: risk move if if you're you know, if you want
- 32:40Speaker 1: that extra draft pick. But if you if you're gonna
- 32:43Speaker 1: like be dead set on getting a first round pick,
- 32:45Speaker 1: too risky because I don't think you're gonna get that. Well,
- 32:49Speaker 1: to Eric's point, you find that out now, Yeah. Yeah,
- 32:52Speaker 1: you find out what you're gonna be able to get now,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and then you decide by the eighth whether or not
- 32:58Speaker 1: that's enough for you. Yeah, So you don't tag him
- 33:01Speaker 1: risking I'm going to be able to get X. Yeah,
- 33:03Speaker 1: you tag them knowing what you're going to be able
- 33:05Speaker 1: to get because of what goes on this week in Indie. Yeah. Now,
- 33:08Speaker 1: given the way this team has done business in the past,
- 33:11Speaker 1: wouldn't you assume that, like as Mike was speculating in
- 33:15Speaker 1: his notes, Mike Rerease that if they really wanted to
- 33:19Speaker 1: keep a player, any player doesn't have to be Jackson,
- 33:23Speaker 1: but any year, any player who was a potential franchise
- 33:27Speaker 1: tag candidate. If they really wanted to keep him, there
- 33:30Speaker 1: would have been some sort of outreach by this point.
- 33:33Speaker 1: It might not have been in depth contract negotiations, but
- 33:36Speaker 1: there might have been some sort of like, hey, we
- 33:39Speaker 1: know what's down the road, we want to talk, we're open,
- 33:42Speaker 1: you know that kind of thing. I think so that
- 33:44Speaker 1: if they did tag him, it would almost be like
- 33:46Speaker 1: a formality, like you know, we're yeah, we're working things out.
- 33:49Speaker 1: Halfway through. Yeah, we just want to make sure that
- 33:51Speaker 1: you stick around. But even more so, you did an
- 33:54Speaker 1: extension last year. I mean, that's when you really do
- 33:57Speaker 1: it well. Sure, but there have been case is where
- 34:00Speaker 1: it gets to this point and they know they want
- 34:02Speaker 1: to keep the player, but you know, they only tag
- 34:06Speaker 1: him just because they know that they're working something out.
- 34:08Speaker 1: It seems like this might be a case where they
- 34:12Speaker 1: really don't want to keep him. And again, we're just
- 34:15Speaker 1: kind of trying to read between the Yeah, there's there's
- 34:17Speaker 1: a lot of but there's a lot of behind the scenes.
- 34:19Speaker 1: But like you know, maybe like they've told talked to
- 34:23Speaker 1: his age and said, you know, see what's out there,
- 34:25Speaker 1: you know, and come back to us. So I do
- 34:28Speaker 1: like the fact that I told you that I've gotten
- 34:30Speaker 1: some some interaction already because it posted this morning. I
- 34:34Speaker 1: like the fact that some people are passionate about it.
- 34:36Speaker 1: You know, just pay the man. It shouldn't be all
- 34:38Speaker 1: that hard, you know, pay him. And I like that.
- 34:41Speaker 1: What I'm interested in is that kind of opinion. I
- 34:45Speaker 1: want to know now what you think. Yeah, I don't
- 34:49Speaker 1: want to know after the fact. I don't want to
- 34:51Speaker 1: know the day after he signs a five year, ninety
- 34:55Speaker 1: five million dollar contract with the San Francisco forty nine
- 34:59Speaker 1: ers that you think it was dumb contract, right right? Yeah,
- 35:02Speaker 1: let the dumb teams pay. I want to know what
- 35:04Speaker 1: you think now. And that's why I like the people
- 35:06Speaker 1: that have already you know, weighed in, no, he's not
- 35:09Speaker 1: worth it, right yeah, because the Patriots could sign them tomorrow.
- 35:13Speaker 1: But even if they say pay the man, pay them, what, like,
- 35:16Speaker 1: what are you willing to pay them? You know, right?
- 35:19Speaker 1: Because I've heard like, oh, that's what I could. That's
- 35:23Speaker 1: why I've been telling you he's going to be in
- 35:25Speaker 1: the top five cornerbacks when when, when this is said
- 35:29Speaker 1: and done, So if you're not prepared to go there,
- 35:31Speaker 1: then let it go. Just let them go, and it's like,
- 35:34Speaker 1: and that's okay, Just like your discussion about the broadcasters.
- 35:38Speaker 1: I mean, that's what the markets paying them nowadays. Right,
- 35:40Speaker 1: they're probably not they're not worth it, but that's what
- 35:42Speaker 1: the markets paying. Yeah, Romo blew it out of the water. Yeah, yeah,
- 35:48Speaker 1: all right. Five five hundred is the ACE ticket outline
- 35:51Speaker 1: web radio at Patriots dot com. Bill and DC writes
- 35:54Speaker 1: about J. C. Jackson, right or wrong, the Patriots have
- 35:57Speaker 1: this reputation for not handing out big dollar contracts. Do
- 36:00Speaker 1: you think this is solely Bill's approach or is it
- 36:03Speaker 1: coming down from Robertcraft and Bill? And Bill is taking
- 36:06Speaker 1: a bullet for the ownership when it comes to the Patriots.
- 36:09Speaker 1: Who has the ultimate say on negotiating big ticket contracts?
- 36:13Speaker 1: After all, it is Crafts money, and I would imagine
- 36:15Speaker 1: Bill doesn't have a free reign without Roberts. Okay, have
- 36:18Speaker 1: we been blaming the wrong guy when players walk because
- 36:22Speaker 1: the Patriots won't pay them? Um? I think it's a
- 36:24Speaker 1: you know when it I think everything about that is
- 36:27Speaker 1: perfect except for I don't know who gets blamed. Yeah,
- 36:29Speaker 1: Like I think the way that's written, I think it
- 36:31Speaker 1: seems like he thinks everybody blames Bill, and I don't
- 36:34Speaker 1: know that everybody blames Bill. I think when it comes
- 36:36Speaker 1: to big ticket contracts, you know, Robertcraft does have to
- 36:40Speaker 1: have absolutely you're not signing a guy to a one
- 36:42Speaker 1: hundred million dollars contract without the owner's consent, right, any
- 36:44Speaker 1: in any NFL local Right, Oh we can, we can
- 36:49Speaker 1: let him wait. Oh okay, but but but that's yeah,
- 36:52Speaker 1: I mean I totally agree with that email. I do
- 36:54Speaker 1: think that's their philosophy, for better or worse. I think
- 36:57Speaker 1: the Patriots really tried to be fiscally conservative. Yeah, would
- 37:01Speaker 1: you not. Yeah, But at the same time, don't miss write,
- 37:06Speaker 1: you know, don't rewrite history. They allowed Malcolm Butler to
- 37:09Speaker 1: go in this similar kind of situation and signed Stefan
- 37:13Speaker 1: Gilmour to one of the largest free agent cornerback contracts
- 37:17Speaker 1: in history. Yep, just like last year they signed two
- 37:20Speaker 1: tight ends for the largest free agent tight end contracts
- 37:24Speaker 1: in history. So it's not cheap, right, It's sometimes you
- 37:29Speaker 1: don't know their methodology calculated, right, You don't know sometimes
- 37:33Speaker 1: what they think. Yeah. Yeah, And the question that I
- 37:35Speaker 1: might have is who has more say on something like that?
- 37:40Speaker 1: Where like you lose a Super Bowl hero in Malcolm
- 37:45Speaker 1: Butler or you allow him to go. Does the owner
- 37:48Speaker 1: then go to the coach and say, hey, look, we
- 37:49Speaker 1: just took a huge pr hit here. We need something big.
- 37:52Speaker 1: I want to spend money, get me the best cornerback.
- 37:55Speaker 1: Is that how the conversation work. Or does Bill go
- 37:57Speaker 1: to the owner and say, hey, I believe in this guy,
- 38:00Speaker 1: I really want him. We gotta pay him what we like. Yeah,
- 38:02Speaker 1: who is the one that instigates? I think it's both ways.
- 38:05Speaker 1: I think it's both ways. But and I think but
- 38:07Speaker 1: I think Bill has a certain um idea of what
- 38:13Speaker 1: value is for a player. Yeah, I think Bill definitely
- 38:16Speaker 1: And unless you're unless you're like really elite. Yeah, he
- 38:20Speaker 1: doesn't like play paying the big bucks. Now, he will
- 38:24Speaker 1: overpay for those team guys like the yah you know,
- 38:27Speaker 1: like the special teams guys like Special Team for the
- 38:31Speaker 1: safety that Andy loved. Yeah, James Sanders generally doesn't want
- 38:35Speaker 1: to set the market at a position, but he will
- 38:38Speaker 1: give two more million to a guy in the middle, Yeah,
- 38:41Speaker 1: than anybody else would even think of a good example. Yeah,
- 38:45Speaker 1: Kendrick Morn was like blown away by the contract that
- 38:47Speaker 1: he was given, and he came out and said, like Hey,
- 38:49Speaker 1: I saw him in New England because like, yeah, they
- 38:51Speaker 1: threw all this money out. I think Bill is really
- 38:53Speaker 1: aware that everybody in the locker room is watching everybody else.
- 38:58Speaker 1: They know what everybody else is may king, and I
- 39:00Speaker 1: think he's very aware of that, and he, you know,
- 39:04Speaker 1: plays that game where I can't pay this guy because
- 39:07Speaker 1: it'll affect my locker room. I want to reward this
- 39:10Speaker 1: guy because it'll show other guys that if you do
- 39:13Speaker 1: a B and C, you'll you know, you'll be rewarded.
- 39:17Speaker 1: I think there's a lot of that going on, not
- 39:19Speaker 1: just here, but in a lot of locker rooms night.
- 39:21Speaker 1: So let's hear it from Deduce. Yeah, what's up, Mike, Mike,
- 39:26Speaker 1: Paul is ready for you now, good start. Are you
- 39:28Speaker 1: on the h Oh? There he is, Freddie fat fingers, Mike,
- 39:32Speaker 1: you're at a combine. What's going on now? Oh? Just
- 39:36Speaker 1: how we just got here? Um and yeah, I got
- 39:39Speaker 1: a sandwich. So we're we're getting ready to get set
- 39:41Speaker 1: up as some of the Bills guys are going to
- 39:43Speaker 1: be speaking at one o'clock, so we headed down and
- 39:45Speaker 1: listening to them. But yeah, otherwise n't really dived in
- 39:50Speaker 1: head first yet. But uh, yeah, Paul, we miss it.
- 39:52Speaker 1: We miss it for sure. No, I know. I'm sure
- 39:54Speaker 1: the rest of Indy does as well. But has it
- 39:56Speaker 1: started yet? Have anybody? Has anybody gone? Because I'm watching
- 39:59Speaker 1: NFL network and they haven't shown anybody at a podium crickets.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Uh not that I know. We just we he gotten
- 40:06Speaker 1: in here. We got our credentials. Um, I know, look
- 40:08Speaker 1: like I said, I think really, I think a lot
- 40:10Speaker 1: of guys are supposed to start going at the top
- 40:12Speaker 1: of the hour. So, uh so we filled up on
- 40:15Speaker 1: some food. Kind of actually kind of funny. Josh mckneos
- 40:17Speaker 1: and Days Eagler, We're both on our flight out of Boston,
- 40:19Speaker 1: So I guess they have not relocated to Vegas yet.
- 40:23Speaker 1: So did you say hello? No, I didn't know. Into
- 40:29Speaker 1: the back Yeah, well you got you got start struck.
- 40:31Speaker 1: I read I was reading that where the Jets have
- 40:34Speaker 1: decided to have very light attendance. Have you heard about
- 40:36Speaker 1: that where Sala's not going to be there and other
- 40:38Speaker 1: Jets aren't going to be Really No, uh no, I haven't,
- 40:41Speaker 1: but I will. I will make sure to keep my
- 40:43Speaker 1: eyes my peepers peeled as hard, he would say, for
- 40:46Speaker 1: any Jets people. But Uh, but no, it's going to
- 40:48Speaker 1: be back. I mean, it's it's hard to believe it's
- 40:50Speaker 1: been two years since we were last year, and uh yeah,
- 40:53Speaker 1: it's uh, everybody's kind of descending upon upon Indie right now.
- 40:56Speaker 1: Everybody's just rolling in. Okay, all right, you're ready for
- 40:59Speaker 1: How have you seen the Cowboys bus? Yeah? Yeah, I'm
- 41:05Speaker 1: chanting on the window looking for it though. Okay, what's
- 41:08Speaker 1: what's that all about, Paul? You see the Cowboys busing? People? Know,
- 41:15Speaker 1: I'm asking. The Cowboys have this big, gaudy bus with
- 41:18Speaker 1: the star on the side and everything. And I don't
- 41:21Speaker 1: know if Jerry Jones may or may not be on there,
- 41:24Speaker 1: but they're they're contingent sort of travels around downtown Indie
- 41:29Speaker 1: and this enormous bush. Right, yeah, you see, I have
- 41:35Speaker 1: seen it. There may or may not be entertainment going
- 41:37Speaker 1: on in the bush. Yeah yeah. If I end up
- 41:41Speaker 1: in the bus, I'll be sure to take a picture
- 41:42Speaker 1: of All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna guess that your
- 41:44Speaker 1: phone will be confiscated if you go on the bus.
- 41:47Speaker 1: I could just see Dukes walking the streets of Indianapolis
- 41:50Speaker 1: with his theme song playing, and you know, Deuce has
- 41:54Speaker 1: returned to Indie. Deuce, Right, all right, well dudes, if
- 41:58Speaker 1: anything does you know happen and that's worth calling back,
- 42:01Speaker 1: do so, do so? I will so. Yeah, we should
- 42:05Speaker 1: have some good guys going between one and two. So
- 42:06Speaker 1: if anything big happens, Yeah, we got the Bill's contingent
- 42:09Speaker 1: is scheduled at one, as Mike said so, and then
- 42:11Speaker 1: Jason Light and arians a little after. If you figured
- 42:14Speaker 1: out Saint Elmo, did you get reservations multiple reservations, Yeah,
- 42:19Speaker 1: there's multiple reservations. We're doing our best. We might have
- 42:21Speaker 1: to go in there and swill o our weight around.
- 42:23Speaker 1: We might both dropping infect kurse. Matt will take care
- 42:25Speaker 1: of you. Okay, now I'll get you a ten thirty table.
- 42:29Speaker 1: All right, good luck out there. Well, all right, Duce
- 42:35Speaker 1: from nothing really going on yet, Yeah, it looked it
- 42:37Speaker 1: looked pretty empty on the live shot that they did. Yeah,
- 42:40Speaker 1: there was supposed to be an NFL network. The Broncos
- 42:43Speaker 1: were supposed to be off at twelve and twelve fifteen,
- 42:45Speaker 1: and I didn't see anything on NFL. Yeah, we've getting
- 42:48Speaker 1: shots of the podium. There. There you go. There's the aforementioned.
- 42:51Speaker 1: Jason is a Light who I believe said something along
- 42:55Speaker 1: the lines of the light is always on or you
- 42:58Speaker 1: always leave a light on for I like Tom Brady. Yeah,
- 43:02Speaker 1: has always something like that light get it, I do
- 43:08Speaker 1: get it. I didn't like it. I just moved on.
- 43:10Speaker 1: But you know he's been there a long time, hasn't he?
- 43:13Speaker 1: He has? He went to the Cardinals first, was that right? Oh?
- 43:16Speaker 1: I thought he went right to Tampa, But you could
- 43:18Speaker 1: be right. I forget these, but he's been he seems
- 43:20Speaker 1: like he's been there for a long time. Yeah. I
- 43:22Speaker 1: remember when he looked young. Um, let's see that old.
- 43:26Speaker 1: That was a rocket shot. He looks older like older. Yeah,
- 43:30Speaker 1: somebody's been there for like two days now, professorial, Like
- 43:33Speaker 1: I remember when he was a kid. Um. Addison from
- 43:38Speaker 1: Fresner writes in general offseason nonsense, I wanted to lead
- 43:42Speaker 1: off by saying that Paul's appearances on the Sunday Morning
- 43:44Speaker 1: Football Show were appointment listening. I have some two weeks
- 43:49Speaker 1: in a row. Has some advice for you on that
- 43:51Speaker 1: show to talk? Yeah? Yeah, yeah, you need to talk
- 43:54Speaker 1: because you can't let him just go and ramble. That's tough. Yeah,
- 43:57Speaker 1: you gotta talk from Paul. Take the lead. That was
- 44:00Speaker 1: a little hungover this week? Is that right? Yeah, it's
- 44:02Speaker 1: a little bit. That's that's my one piece of advice
- 44:06Speaker 1: for that show. I was curious about your guys take
- 44:08Speaker 1: on the idea of taking the red pen to something.
- 44:11Speaker 1: I think it is crazy that Arians felt compelled to
- 44:15Speaker 1: come out and defend himself by saying he didn't use
- 44:17Speaker 1: a red pen specifically. My questions are, does someone using
- 44:21Speaker 1: a red pen on your work bug you and you
- 44:24Speaker 1: even understand why it bugs people? No, you're I think
- 44:29Speaker 1: you're you're talking about the actual pen as if that's
- 44:34Speaker 1: the problem. But the thing is, it would bug me
- 44:39Speaker 1: if Fred said to me, Paul, I want you to
- 44:41Speaker 1: write a five thousand word feature on Robert Craft and
- 44:46Speaker 1: just post it. And then I wrote the five thousand
- 44:49Speaker 1: word feature on Robert Kraft and I had carte blanche
- 44:52Speaker 1: because that's what you told me to do. And then
- 44:55Speaker 1: in turn, you said, oh no, before you post that,
- 44:57Speaker 1: let me see it, and he just disapart, yeah, you know,
- 45:00Speaker 1: and made all kinds of changes. I would be a
- 45:02Speaker 1: little miffed now if he has said to me, Paul,
- 45:05Speaker 1: I want you to do a five thousand word feature
- 45:07Speaker 1: on Robert Kraft. When you get it start putting it together.
- 45:10Speaker 1: When you get it, you know, come and see me.
- 45:12Speaker 1: We'll go over it, and then we'll post it. He
- 45:16Speaker 1: could eviscerate the whole thing with a red pen and
- 45:18Speaker 1: I wouldn't have any problem with it at all, right,
- 45:20Speaker 1: because he's up front, he's telling me what he is expecting.
- 45:23Speaker 1: So I don't know if Bruce arians told Byron Leftwich
- 45:25Speaker 1: and Tom Brady listen, I'm on the shelf. You guys
- 45:29Speaker 1: got to come up with the game plan this week.
- 45:30Speaker 1: It's all you. And then all of a sudden they
- 45:32Speaker 1: come up with the game plan and he just completely
- 45:33Speaker 1: changes it. All that would bother me. Yeah, But if
- 45:36Speaker 1: it's the head coach, well within his rights to make
- 45:39Speaker 1: adjustments to a game plan, I think. And he just said,
- 45:43Speaker 1: you know, you guys get started on that. I can't.
- 45:45Speaker 1: I can't be there, and then we'll go over it. Yeah,
- 45:48Speaker 1: I got no issues with that. But I also think
- 45:50Speaker 1: it's a general rule. Like in having talk and talk
- 45:53Speaker 1: to writers sports writers throughout the years, they rarely like
- 45:58Speaker 1: their editors. No, copy editors in general are really underappreciated people. Yeah,
- 46:05Speaker 1: they get a lot of heat. I didn't write the headline.
- 46:09Speaker 1: I didn't change that I didn't write that. Why is
- 46:12Speaker 1: he so heavy handed that there's a lot of you know,
- 46:15Speaker 1: it's like writers always complain about their editor poop poop
- 46:18Speaker 1: goes downhill. Yeah, that's in a newspaper office. It goes
- 46:23Speaker 1: downhill to the copy editors. And it's I think, I
- 46:25Speaker 1: think in those guys are invaluable. They don't get the
- 46:28Speaker 1: dude and I don't And I think in today's world
- 46:30Speaker 1: they aren't enough editing. There isn't enough editing going on online.
- 46:33Speaker 1: It's it's so easy to just publish, right that the
- 46:36Speaker 1: kind of the editor the editing process as kind of well.
- 46:40Speaker 1: And there's also the pushed out the desire on the
- 46:43Speaker 1: part of these outlets to get things up in such
- 46:45Speaker 1: a hurry, right that they even forego the editing editing,
- 46:49Speaker 1: and they're so bootstrap they don't want to pay. And
- 46:51Speaker 1: I know people like look at editing and proofreading is
- 46:54Speaker 1: the same thing, and that it's not not like to
- 46:58Speaker 1: Fred's point, there's a lot of typos that find their
- 47:00Speaker 1: way onto a website. It happens everywhere because there's not
- 47:03Speaker 1: a lot of eyes reading things before they go up.
- 47:06Speaker 1: But editors, a good copy editor will find a better
- 47:09Speaker 1: way to write something and say something. He works in
- 47:12Speaker 1: conjunction with the writer and it makes the writer better,
- 47:15Speaker 1: right or not, not even just that that's true, but
- 47:19Speaker 1: also like he'll look and say, um, this is this
- 47:22Speaker 1: is a factual error in attribution of things like that too. Well,
- 47:27Speaker 1: when it's like fact checkers, yeah, fact checkers, Like when
- 47:30Speaker 1: you're writing hard news, Yes, for like the New York
- 47:33Speaker 1: Times or the Wall Street Journal, you have to have
- 47:35Speaker 1: fact checkers because you can get sued, right, you know, yep, um.
- 47:40Speaker 1: But I think that that's kind of so. I think
- 47:42Speaker 1: it's that it's a hard one there with the arians
- 47:45Speaker 1: because you don't know exactly what the parameters were going in.
- 47:47Speaker 1: But it's not necessarily being upset that someone took a
- 47:51Speaker 1: red pen to your your work. Some people that said,
- 47:56Speaker 1: I'm sure there are a lot of writers who are
- 47:57Speaker 1: very thin skin, Yeah, very pretend active. They're all Stillman
- 48:05Speaker 1: in the Bay Area wanted to start a discussion on
- 48:07Speaker 1: an under the radar topic. That topic is backup quarterback.
- 48:11Speaker 1: I think we took it for granted. Brady's durability throughout
- 48:14Speaker 1: his career. Other than the two thousand and eight ACL injury,
- 48:17Speaker 1: he never missed a game due to injury. With Hoyer
- 48:19Speaker 1: entering as a free agent, and whatever the deal is
- 48:22Speaker 1: with Stidham, I'm concerned with who will be behind Jones.
- 48:25Speaker 1: This concerns me both from a development and potential injury standpoint. Developmentally,
- 48:31Speaker 1: Jones will have a new offensive coordinator slash quarterback coach,
- 48:35Speaker 1: whatever the title is, would judge? I think having a
- 48:38Speaker 1: veteran presence could help Jones in his sophomore season. What
- 48:41Speaker 1: are your thoughts and where do you think the Patriots
- 48:43Speaker 1: will go for a backup? Do they resign Hoyer? They could?
- 48:49Speaker 1: I actually just posted if you want to look at
- 48:51Speaker 1: Patriots dot com, we are doing our free agent forecast
- 48:56Speaker 1: position by position previews, and today the quarterback position just
- 48:59Speaker 1: went up. So apropos to your email if you want
- 49:02Speaker 1: to go up there and look. I did a little
- 49:04Speaker 1: roundup of all the quarterbacks who are available and who
- 49:06Speaker 1: they might be interested in. I think the emailer makes
- 49:10Speaker 1: a really good point too, Not so much for if
- 49:13Speaker 1: something happens to Matt Joe. Like I think most teams
- 49:16Speaker 1: are in trouble if their starting quarterback goes down for
- 49:19Speaker 1: any length of time. You know, I think you can
- 49:22Speaker 1: still find a way to get by and win some games,
- 49:24Speaker 1: but you're probably no longer a threat if that's the case.
- 49:28Speaker 1: But the more important thing I think is what the
- 49:30Speaker 1: emailer touched on there. And given all of the uncertainty
- 49:34Speaker 1: with the coaching staff, retaining a guy like Horrier might
- 49:39Speaker 1: be even more important this year for mac Jones than
- 49:41Speaker 1: it would if McDaniels was still here. Do you guys agree, Like,
- 49:46Speaker 1: how many different things from last year you're going to
- 49:49Speaker 1: take away from them in one year? Like I had,
- 49:52Speaker 1: I had this offensive coordinator that I had a great
- 49:54Speaker 1: relationship with, and I had these other offensive coaches that
- 49:56Speaker 1: helped along the way. I had this veteran quarterback who
- 49:59Speaker 1: knew the system like the backup his hand, and he
- 50:01Speaker 1: really guided me throughout the year. Now they're all gone, Like,
- 50:06Speaker 1: I don't think that would be ideal. I think there's
- 50:08Speaker 1: a chance that Horrier could be Well, let me ask
- 50:10Speaker 1: you a question. This is a is a backup quarterback
- 50:14Speaker 1: more important on a team that has an elite quarterback
- 50:17Speaker 1: like a Brady or an Aaron Rodgers or a team
- 50:20Speaker 1: that's a playoff contender where the quarterback is more middle
- 50:24Speaker 1: of the road like a mac Jones, in which case
- 50:27Speaker 1: is the backup quarterback more important, and I think in
- 50:30Speaker 1: the current one I do too, Yeah, because I think
- 50:34Speaker 1: because your offense isn't as dependent as the quarter on
- 50:37Speaker 1: the quarterback as the elite one. If you lose Rogers
- 50:40Speaker 1: or you're not replacing it, right, you're not replacing Brady right,
- 50:43Speaker 1: he goes down. But if you lose Jones, an adequate
- 50:47Speaker 1: backup quarterback can still keep your water. You can closer
- 50:51Speaker 1: replicate quarterback if you have someone competent. Right now, I'm
- 50:54Speaker 1: probably you think Jones the backup quarterball, No, but I
- 50:58Speaker 1: think Horrier would have gone ten and seven last year. Yeah.
- 51:01Speaker 1: Don't you say when you say lose, you mean for
- 51:03Speaker 1: the year. Yeah, like period. Yeah, I agree with Fred.
- 51:08Speaker 1: I think friends, I think friend's onto something. I just
- 51:12Speaker 1: want to help out. Dave here, he's from Lancaster, California, says,
- 51:16Speaker 1: years ago in the show, there was a conversation you
- 51:18Speaker 1: had about washing machines and how you had to buy
- 51:20Speaker 1: a new one. I need your help. I can't remember
- 51:22Speaker 1: what brand you said was the best, and do you
- 51:24Speaker 1: still stand by that? My Samsung just broke. It broke
- 51:27Speaker 1: just a couple of months after the warranty being over
- 51:30Speaker 1: this to happen with everything. PS do not buy Samsung.
- 51:33Speaker 1: I hear there are a lot about their home appliances.
- 51:35Speaker 1: I agree. Uh, Speed Queen is where you want to
- 51:39Speaker 1: go now. I remember this now that you know the
- 51:41Speaker 1: problem with Speed Queen is you don't get all the
- 51:42Speaker 1: bells and whistles. It's not like Samsung or LG where
- 51:46Speaker 1: you get this and that and the other. Steam clean.
- 51:48Speaker 1: But if you if you want just America, if you
- 51:51Speaker 1: want at years, if you want an American made washer
- 51:55Speaker 1: with a steel drum, that's just gonna last. Speed Queen
- 52:00Speaker 1: is where you want to go now. You haven't you today.
- 52:03Speaker 1: If you have a huge family, though, you might want
- 52:07Speaker 1: to go with one of the bigger, you know brands
- 52:09Speaker 1: that you can do bigger loads. Not a fan of Maytag.
- 52:13Speaker 1: Maytag is Maytag's good durable, Yeah, but I like Speed Queen.
- 52:17Speaker 1: The problem with all appliances nowadays is they're not built
- 52:20Speaker 1: to last. That's why you go with Speed Queen. The
- 52:23Speaker 1: different Speed Queens are the ones used in the laundry mats.
- 52:26Speaker 1: They just go, but they're built to give you five
- 52:30Speaker 1: to ten years, not to Speed Queen. Okay, all the guys,
- 52:35Speaker 1: all the guys that sell all of these different things
- 52:37Speaker 1: a wrong freend right street Queen. You won't find speed
- 52:39Speaker 1: Queen in like the lows and the home. I had
- 52:41Speaker 1: never heard of it. Everything you have to go to
- 52:45Speaker 1: one city sales or gray As appliances like they have these,
- 52:48Speaker 1: ask them what they think about speak queen, and they
- 52:50Speaker 1: all tell you the same thing. What they're not built
- 52:52Speaker 1: to last more than ten years. Okay, now that's what
- 52:57Speaker 1: they told me. I get. I'm going on eighteen on
- 52:59Speaker 1: my washing machine, So I've beat the system. So you
- 53:01Speaker 1: beat the syste knock on wood. Yeah, I did the
- 53:04Speaker 1: same thing with my refrigerator. I just got a new
- 53:06Speaker 1: refrigerator for the first time since I moved into my house. Yeah,
- 53:10Speaker 1: so I've been lucky with appliances now, dishwashersy I think
- 53:14Speaker 1: I already. I think I'm on my second one of those,
- 53:17Speaker 1: So that one not so much. Yeah, impliances, that's a
- 53:20Speaker 1: that's a racket. It is. It's a racket. Yeah, you
- 53:23Speaker 1: gotta have them. Yeah, and they're not made to last anymore. No,
- 53:27Speaker 1: it's true. What is made to last nowadays? Freddy, I
- 53:32Speaker 1: don't already's built to last. I don't know stands the
- 53:35Speaker 1: test of time. But like I said, I if you're
- 53:39Speaker 1: looking for just a basic speed Queen washer dryer, American
- 53:44Speaker 1: made steel drum, no plastic, you go. You go with
- 53:48Speaker 1: the Speed Queen, all right. Now, some people say they're
- 53:52Speaker 1: a little it's a little tough on the clothes, a
- 53:54Speaker 1: little rough on them. Now I'm gonna find out it
- 53:58Speaker 1: doesn't clean the cloth, it makes holds of them, steal
- 54:04Speaker 1: drum with sharp edges. I just I just wanted to
- 54:06Speaker 1: help out Dave. There. I'm sure, I'm sure he feels right.
- 54:09Speaker 1: He could be standing in the store and hes right right,
- 54:12Speaker 1: you're right, you know, let me tell me, tell me
- 54:14Speaker 1: about this the guys you're calling a radio show. I am.
- 54:20Speaker 1: I'm standing in the middle of the store, and I
- 54:21Speaker 1: forgot when Fred's. Let me check in with Fred's to
- 54:24Speaker 1: see what. All right, he probably has like industrial uh
- 54:29Speaker 1: washing machine because of his oh and by the way,
- 54:31Speaker 1: that a right he has, and by the way, the
- 54:33Speaker 1: speaker and all of the laundry that he gets stained
- 54:36Speaker 1: all the time. And they're less expensive too. That's another
- 54:39Speaker 1: good point, Dave. Where else would you go for laundry advice?
- 54:42Speaker 1: And friend makes a great point right now, Actually we
- 54:48Speaker 1: haven't even eaten the point. But but I need good
- 54:53Speaker 1: washing machine because of because problem. Eric makes a great point.
- 54:57Speaker 1: Who better than Fred to give laundry advice? Right? No
- 54:59Speaker 1: one needs it more than you, that's right. Uh. Christian
- 55:03Speaker 1: from la Is on the A Sick and hot Line.
- 55:05Speaker 1: What's up? Christian? Hey, you guys. You know here we
- 55:08Speaker 1: are in the off season and pondering all the things
- 55:11Speaker 1: that we need to do administratively. I know that the uh,
- 55:15Speaker 1: the guilt challenges that are coming up, but um, you
- 55:21Speaker 1: know what the club again? What the combine? Combine? Are
- 55:27Speaker 1: you in a machine shop? What do you airport? Exactly?
- 55:33Speaker 1: I was in for with the you know, the blue bottom. However,
- 55:37Speaker 1: I was wondering which one of the guilts that do
- 55:40Speaker 1: you guys think if they didn't impad That translates to
- 55:45Speaker 1: how the athlete would perform on the field. For example,
- 55:48Speaker 1: they be doing like the love throws. The guys can
- 55:52Speaker 1: easily catch it over the head. But when you're wearing
- 55:54Speaker 1: shoulder pads, your catch radius changed it, right, Well, I
- 55:58Speaker 1: mean back in the day they used to wear the
- 56:00Speaker 1: big pads. That doesn't really affect. Yeah. To me, it's
- 56:04Speaker 1: all about contact, Like it's not necessarily how they're draft. Yeah. Yeah,
- 56:08Speaker 1: anybody can come across the middle knowing there's no one
- 56:10Speaker 1: there to knock the lights out and make the catch.
- 56:14Speaker 1: But yes, you have the toughness to do that. No
- 56:16Speaker 1: one's going to get hit. I mean, if you want
- 56:18Speaker 1: to look at a New England specific one that people
- 56:20Speaker 1: write about a lot at this time of year, it's
- 56:22Speaker 1: the three cone drill for you know, I don't necessarily
- 56:26Speaker 1: buy it. It's Christian. That's a big Patriots thing. You're
- 56:29Speaker 1: absolutely right, know they talk about that every year with
- 56:31Speaker 1: especially with receivers. Who are you know, in the in
- 56:34Speaker 1: the slot type category interior? Can I address that for
- 56:40Speaker 1: a second, yes, what what position would you say the
- 56:43Speaker 1: Patriots have had the most difficult time trying to identify
- 56:47Speaker 1: in the draft wide receiver? Well, we would say there's
- 56:51Speaker 1: two cornide receivers, one in corners together. Yep. Maybe we
- 56:54Speaker 1: should stop looking at three cone drills so much. Yeah,
- 56:58Speaker 1: well yeah, I mean if maybe we should look at
- 57:00Speaker 1: that and something else too, playmaking ability? Yeah, what do
- 57:03Speaker 1: you think game tape? Yeah, I don't know. It's they
- 57:10Speaker 1: have had trouble, you know, particularly in the second round.
- 57:14Speaker 1: But then you look at guys like Cyrus Jones, he
- 57:16Speaker 1: was a first round pick, and they blew that he
- 57:18Speaker 1: was the second round to the second he was the
- 57:23Speaker 1: second round. Yeah no, But like, the wide receiver draft
- 57:26Speaker 1: has been really, really tough for the Patriots, you know,
- 57:29Speaker 1: aside from Dion Branch one hundred years ago, they really
- 57:32Speaker 1: haven't identified a wide receiver in the draft. And yes,
- 57:34Speaker 1: I'm not counting Julian Edelman because they didn't identify him
- 57:37Speaker 1: as a wide receiver. He's he was. They made him.
- 57:40Speaker 1: He was a lottery picky. They got lucky. No, but
- 57:43Speaker 1: I'm not even saying they got lucky. I give them
- 57:44Speaker 1: a lot of credit for developing him, but they didn't
- 57:47Speaker 1: do it as a wide receiver. They didn't know what
- 57:49Speaker 1: he was. Like Deon Branch, wide receiver they identified and
- 57:52Speaker 1: he hit that, you know. You know, aside from Malcolm Mitchell,
- 57:56Speaker 1: whose career was obviously cut short for injuries, they really
- 57:59Speaker 1: didn't do that with anybody else. Yeah. Yeah, It's it's
- 58:02Speaker 1: unfortunate that Mitchell had to have such an injury history
- 58:05Speaker 1: because he looked like he could have been something. But
- 58:08Speaker 1: at the same time, he probably would never have been
- 58:10Speaker 1: a Patriot if he hadn't been injured. Right, He wouldn't
- 58:13Speaker 1: he wouldn't have been available when the Patriots took Yeah. Yeah,
- 58:17Speaker 1: so there's a lot of stuff, a lot of a
- 58:20Speaker 1: lot of construction cornerback and and um wide receiver. Yeah,
- 58:26Speaker 1: and like it's a very simplistic thing, but it just
- 58:28Speaker 1: sort of popped into my head like that is because
- 58:31Speaker 1: Eric is right. Every year everybody goes to the combine
- 58:36Speaker 1: testing and they look at the three cone drills and
- 58:38Speaker 1: they say, this guy's a patriot, This guy's a patriot,
- 58:40Speaker 1: this guy's a patriot. Well, maybe they should stop doing that. Yeah,
- 58:43Speaker 1: they it's almost like they have they have better luck
- 58:45Speaker 1: developing guys that are either low round or undrafted guys
- 58:50Speaker 1: in the secondary than they do drafting it. Oh, the secondary,
- 58:53Speaker 1: they've had great lucky undrafted guys. Yeah, Randall Gay and
- 58:57Speaker 1: Malcolm Butler and Jonathan John And you wonder why why
- 59:01Speaker 1: is that? You know? Why is it? Is the guy
- 59:03Speaker 1: hungrier and more coachable and willing to do what It's
- 59:06Speaker 1: a great question. That's a story. Yeah, that's a story
- 59:08Speaker 1: file to file that one. H Why have they had
- 59:10Speaker 1: so much success with undrafted cornerbacks? Yeah, as opposed to
- 59:14Speaker 1: as opposed to the ones they draft. Uh, little Game three, Bill,
- 59:19Speaker 1: any commonality between the undrafted cornerbacks that you've had success
- 59:24Speaker 1: with you you'd have to go outside of him for
- 59:29Speaker 1: that answer. Yeah, Like maybe a Scott Pioli might give
- 59:33Speaker 1: you some insight on that one. That won't be something
- 59:35Speaker 1: I can do. Mike Lombardi might give you some insight there.
- 59:40Speaker 1: I don't remind me, um no, because you'll just say
- 59:44Speaker 1: because Bill develops him, That's what Mike Lombardi will tell
- 59:46Speaker 1: But why can't you do the same for a drafted guy? Exactly?
- 59:49Speaker 1: But that's what Mike Lombardi would tell you. It's all Bill,
- 59:52Speaker 1: it has nothing to do with Jaz Jackson. Then then
- 59:54Speaker 1: it's all Billy, you know, Like, but he doesn't recognize
- 59:57Speaker 1: it that Paul's points go to somebody who will give
- 59:59Speaker 1: you an answer like here only might give you a
- 1:00:01Speaker 1: semblance of an answer. Yeah, but I also would like
- 1:00:04Speaker 1: to get Bill's perspective on that, sure, knowing that I
- 1:00:06Speaker 1: would probably get well because in one way he's going
- 1:00:11Speaker 1: to be guarded because then it shows a failure with
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: the draft that guys, you know, so he's going to
- 1:00:17Speaker 1: be guarded and also doesn't want to give away any
- 1:00:19Speaker 1: secrets on how they developed right either. Do you want
- 1:00:22Speaker 1: me to tell you how you got the true success
- 1:00:24Speaker 1: with undrafted corners? Very simple? Who am I game? Three clues?
- 1:00:29Speaker 1: You know it's only three of us? Are those only
- 1:00:32Speaker 1: two of you? So? Uh? First one, I played my
- 1:00:34Speaker 1: college ball at the University of Illinois, where my last
- 1:00:37Speaker 1: game played was the Liberty Bowl Unversity ill and I
- 1:00:42Speaker 1: I was drafted in the first round, where three Hall
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: of Fame players were drafted at the same position with
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: me in the first round. Yes, oh, I figured, come on,
- 1:00:52Speaker 1: well I was. I'm I was thinking more recent Yeah,
- 1:00:54Speaker 1: I was thinking modern era. The first thing I thought
- 1:00:56Speaker 1: of was Eugene Wilson until he said first round. Second one,
- 1:00:59Speaker 1: I played my college ball at Duke and Georgia Ben Watson,
- 1:01:04Speaker 1: Ben Watson, Ben Watson. And the final one I played
- 1:01:08Speaker 1: at Brown University. As I just realized how stupid that was.
- 1:01:14Speaker 1: I played at Brown University as a defensive lineman. Eric Rolling,
- 1:01:22Speaker 1: Good job, Eric, thank you, thank you. Paul. I pride
- 1:01:24Speaker 1: myself in those games, and I went winless. That was
- 1:01:27Speaker 1: a good job. Yeah, he's not even He actually had
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: not even given you an actual You dominated. I appreciate dominate.
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: You dominated I'm not one to be dominated. Sam from
- 1:01:40Speaker 1: Kentucky rights in he says, I got one percent milk
- 1:01:43Speaker 1: the other day and thought of you guys, Red purple right,
- 1:01:47Speaker 1: it's not red. Regarding the draft, it seems like there's
- 1:01:51Speaker 1: a lot of talk of drafting a wide receiver with
- 1:01:54Speaker 1: our first pick. I think that'd be great, but based
- 1:01:56Speaker 1: on how slow the defense looked during the tail end
- 1:01:59Speaker 1: of the season, my vote would be to pick up
- 1:02:01Speaker 1: a cornerback or someone on the defense that's fast and
- 1:02:05Speaker 1: can make plays. Our wide receivering corps isn't amazing, but
- 1:02:08Speaker 1: I think they're good enough to get the job done.
- 1:02:10Speaker 1: I think the defense has more holes to fill. If
- 1:02:13Speaker 1: it was up to you, who would you pick? Or
- 1:02:15Speaker 1: would you pick a wide receiver or a cornerback slash
- 1:02:18Speaker 1: other defensive guy? And if you had to say one
- 1:02:22Speaker 1: or the other, what do you think Bill will do
- 1:02:24Speaker 1: for the first round? Yeah, defense, and I would go
- 1:02:27Speaker 1: corner cornerback that would be my number one pick, but
- 1:02:32Speaker 1: or or an offensive tackle. I would not want to
- 1:02:36Speaker 1: take a wide receiver in the first round. I do
- 1:02:38Speaker 1: believe that it's a major, major need. I don't believe
- 1:02:41Speaker 1: what they have is good enough. I don't agree with
- 1:02:43Speaker 1: that part of it. I just don't want to take
- 1:02:45Speaker 1: a wide receiver in the first round because I think
- 1:02:47Speaker 1: they have other needs to fill. Ye, let's get back
- 1:02:51Speaker 1: to the phones. Rashad's in Baltimore. What's up, Rashad? Hey,
- 1:02:56Speaker 1: what's up? What's up? Hey? Um? I guess list the name. Well,
- 1:03:01Speaker 1: y'all just talked about the wide receiver. I really want
- 1:03:05Speaker 1: the Patriots to draft the wide receiver. And I saw
- 1:03:07Speaker 1: they had a report. I guess the Patriots meeting with
- 1:03:10Speaker 1: the three wide receivers the day Bert to Williamson and um, okay,
- 1:03:17Speaker 1: I want I want to live, I want to live.
- 1:03:20Speaker 1: I don't, I don't. I don't really want Berts. I
- 1:03:22Speaker 1: was looking at Drake London. He kind of reminds me
- 1:03:25Speaker 1: of like what Nakill Harry probably would be if he
- 1:03:28Speaker 1: got here. You just just Drake London is much more
- 1:03:32Speaker 1: athletic than to kill Harry Drake. Drake London is a
- 1:03:37Speaker 1: really good athlete. Yeah. So I mean, I'm with you though,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: But I'd be okay if they drafted a wide receiver
- 1:03:45Speaker 1: in the second round because there's a lot of them. Yeah,
- 1:03:48Speaker 1: they just got to get the right one. That's all, yeah,
- 1:03:50Speaker 1: you know, and that's been difficult for them, yeah, over
- 1:03:53Speaker 1: the years. Um. One thing I would caution you though, too, Rashad,
- 1:03:57Speaker 1: When you read about players meeting with teams at the Combine,
- 1:04:02Speaker 1: pretty much every player at the Combine meets with almost
- 1:04:04Speaker 1: every team throughout the week at some point, So try
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: try not to fall into the trap. I I understand,
- 1:04:13Speaker 1: and you know that at this time of year, people
- 1:04:15Speaker 1: are desperate for any sort of news, But I just
- 1:04:18Speaker 1: for people who aren't maybe as clued into that. A
- 1:04:21Speaker 1: lot of times teams meet with a player specifically because
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: they don't know that much about him or her. Um,
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: they don't know about his personal side more than anything.
- 1:04:33Speaker 1: Like they have plenty of game tape on these guys,
- 1:04:35Speaker 1: but they want to get to know some things about
- 1:04:37Speaker 1: him to see if he'd be a fit for their system.
- 1:04:39Speaker 1: They're kind of uh, you know, organizational structure, yeah, their culture. Um,
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: so it's not it's it's a lot of times it's
- 1:04:47Speaker 1: an information gathering thing more than it is like we
- 1:04:49Speaker 1: definitely want this guy, you know. I mean it could
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: could be the case. But when you look at if
- 1:04:55Speaker 1: you go back and look at a lot of the
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: draft picks over the last ten fift teen years. A
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: lot of them in some cases didn't even meet with
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: the Patriots at the combine or at at all during
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: the pre draft process. So it's a little bit of
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: a yeah, it's a little bit of a specious argument
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: to say, yeah, yeah, yeah, not necessarily on purpose to
- 1:05:16Speaker 1: be smoking mirrors, but it's not necessarily an indication that
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: this team loves this play. But I guarantee you the
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: Patriots are interested in every you know, like they want
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: to know about everybody. They're like if if there's a
- 1:05:26Speaker 1: guy raided in the top ten in any position, the
- 1:05:28Speaker 1: Patriots are doing their work on them, you know. So
- 1:05:31Speaker 1: certainly on defense, I would hope, yeah, And I mean
- 1:05:35Speaker 1: I would like the wide received. I mean I would
- 1:05:38Speaker 1: like a defensive player. But the way I'm thinking, like
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: the draft board would shake up, it would be probably
- 1:05:43Speaker 1: like value, so probably wouldn't get like maybe a good
- 1:05:47Speaker 1: corner at that twenty one spot. Maybe it might be
- 1:05:51Speaker 1: some wide receivers that dropped down and they might be
- 1:05:53Speaker 1: at twenty one. But yeah, I'm all for a defensive player.
- 1:05:56Speaker 1: I'm all for anybody who can bring some speed, athleticisms,
- 1:06:00Speaker 1: any kind of umph into the defense. Yeah, it stinks
- 1:06:03Speaker 1: this hear that there aren't quarterbacks that are gonna push
- 1:06:05Speaker 1: these guys down. You know, yes, I agree, Freddy. Yeah,
- 1:06:10Speaker 1: all right, thanks for shot. And your chances of trading
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: up are a lot smaller than they normally would be too,
- 1:06:16Speaker 1: because of the dearth of draft picks that the Patriots have.
- 1:06:19Speaker 1: They only have six. Right, if you're gonna trade up,
- 1:06:21Speaker 1: you're gonna be investing in either future picks or a
- 1:06:23Speaker 1: player and a pick, and they probably are going to
- 1:06:25Speaker 1: be doing that. Eldred is here on the phone to
- 1:06:29Speaker 1: yell about wide receivers. I'm sure, what's up, Eldred. Hey,
- 1:06:33Speaker 1: So that looks how y'all doing it good? Hey? You right? Fred?
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: I love all of y'all gone wide receiver first, and
- 1:06:41Speaker 1: I don't agree with the sucking day wide receivers that
- 1:06:43Speaker 1: left doctors in their crew but alive and uh William
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: Wilson and the other guy they're gonna be around twenty one.
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: Stanley gonna be gone, the other corner gonna be gone,
- 1:06:58Speaker 1: and the linebacker that we're like for Georgia. See, I
- 1:07:00Speaker 1: think Stanley could go anywhere. I think Stinley is a
- 1:07:03Speaker 1: wild card. And I saw Daniel Jeremiah on his conference
- 1:07:06Speaker 1: call and Mike Mike Desso wrote up a piece on that.
- 1:07:09Speaker 1: I think Stanley could go anywhere. He could be available anywhere. Yeah,
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: he's ranked him at fifteen. Yeah he I mean he
- 1:07:16Speaker 1: could be in. He could go in the top ten,
- 1:07:18Speaker 1: and he could go in the second round. I think
- 1:07:20Speaker 1: there's a lot of questions about him because of the
- 1:07:23Speaker 1: last two years and all the injuries he had. He
- 1:07:25Speaker 1: didn't play much. Yeah, but I'm like the previous call,
- 1:07:29Speaker 1: I like a lave always did when he was in Ohio.
- 1:07:31Speaker 1: I like I like a lot. I agree, I love Ala. Yeah,
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: so I'm hoping if he's there because Corner cups some
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: other draft he did about twenty two or twenty three,
- 1:07:40Speaker 1: you know. Yeah, so right there at twenty one and uh, Fred,
- 1:07:44Speaker 1: get what you said earlier. Yeah, you need to go
- 1:07:47Speaker 1: with the corner the receivers that have production instead of
- 1:07:50Speaker 1: take a chance when the second one has been the
- 1:07:52Speaker 1: second two years, when you know the ACC and SEC
- 1:07:56Speaker 1: champion competition like NFL just about so those guy one good.
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: He didn't do that with a Harry you know, the
- 1:08:03Speaker 1: couple of years ago. If your no, but why can't
- 1:08:06Speaker 1: you get one of those guys in the second and
- 1:08:08Speaker 1: third round that produced second third round, right, like Terry
- 1:08:13Speaker 1: MC like Terry McLaurin from Ohio State, like a major program,
- 1:08:17Speaker 1: major production, and he made a major impact immediately. He
- 1:08:20Speaker 1: wasn't your first round round. But but but they skipped
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: though the week. He could have went in the first round.
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: So could a J. Brown. No, but some stuff behind.
- 1:08:29Speaker 1: I understand that guys could go in the first round.
- 1:08:32Speaker 1: But I'm saying there will be really good wide receivers
- 1:08:35Speaker 1: taken in the second and third round. Find one. I
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: still go to with one with two two facts alive,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: Wilson or even Williams. All right, so what if? What if?
- 1:08:46Speaker 1: What if you could get What if the lave ends
- 1:08:48Speaker 1: up going in the second round, then you grab him?
- 1:08:52Speaker 1: What if Williams go? I mean, what what if Jameson
- 1:08:55Speaker 1: Williams goes. You know, he's coming off a town acl
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: Maybe he's available in the second round, but I don't know,
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: Maybe they go in the top ten. I mean, Eldri,
- 1:09:01Speaker 1: are you saying, don't risk it take a receiver in
- 1:09:04Speaker 1: the first round. Don't risk it, don't wait. I just
- 1:09:07Speaker 1: think that you can get the tenth receiver in the
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: third round, and he might be as good as the
- 1:09:11Speaker 1: second receiver that goes in the first, whereas the tenth
- 1:09:14Speaker 1: cornerback is not going to be as good as the first.
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: There's more depth at receiver, like receiver is a deep
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: position every year in the draft. Ye affected, all the
- 1:09:23Speaker 1: pends on what you're looking for. It too, though, But
- 1:09:25Speaker 1: those guys on the outside, whatever, they're going in the
- 1:09:27Speaker 1: first if Williams, if Williams do, let's say william be hurt,
- 1:09:33Speaker 1: acl I guarantee to be a team to take take
- 1:09:35Speaker 1: them in the first round, and they'll wait, and I'm
- 1:09:37Speaker 1: gonna guarantee you this elder will make a bet. Okay, Now,
- 1:09:41Speaker 1: this is gonna be a long turn. This is gonna
- 1:09:43Speaker 1: be a long range bet because we won't be able
- 1:09:45Speaker 1: to find out No, seriously, we won't be able to
- 1:09:47Speaker 1: know the results of this this bet for at least
- 1:09:50Speaker 1: two years. But I'm gonna bet you that there will
- 1:09:53Speaker 1: be a wide receiver selected in round two or three
- 1:09:57Speaker 1: who is better than at least one wide receiver who
- 1:09:59Speaker 1: was elected in around one, much like Terry McLaurin was
- 1:10:04Speaker 1: better than to kill Harry. Yeah, I'm gonna bet you
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: that that will happen this year, Brown and anybody else
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: that were decay and anybody else. Yep, you know. So
- 1:10:13Speaker 1: I'm gonna bet you that there will be a second
- 1:10:15Speaker 1: There will be a Day two receiver better than a
- 1:10:18Speaker 1: Day one receiver in this draft. Okay, Now it's a
- 1:10:21Speaker 1: bad bet because we have to wait. Yeah, we have
- 1:10:24Speaker 1: to wait two years to find that out. Ye okay,
- 1:10:28Speaker 1: it minimum Okay, even then, I would never admit I lost.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: And that's okay. If we picked one that ain't one
- 1:10:34Speaker 1: of those. I'll let you know if you're gonna be
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: a bus round the beat like I did, Harry, No,
- 1:10:38Speaker 1: you did, Eldred, you did? You did way out in
- 1:10:40Speaker 1: front of the you did. All right, thanks Eldred. All right,

- 1:22:38Speaker 1: it is Um, one of the candidates to uh maybe
- 1:22:42Speaker 1: get Aaron Rodgers, right, that would be interesting. But you know,
- 1:22:45Speaker 1: I heard you on the radio, Paul Um. I think
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: everyone's just kind of assuming like Rogers and Wilson are
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: going to leave their teams. I think there's as much
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: chance people are saying. I think people are just kind
- 1:22:59Speaker 1: of thinking that's gonna happen. I think there's as much chance,

- 1:23:23Speaker 1: I think it's not as dire over there as people think.
- 1:23:26Speaker 1: I don't think it's a done deal anyway. It's not
- 1:23:28Speaker 1: a foregone conclusion that he's that he's gone. I think
- 1:23:30Speaker 1: it's I think would have it backwards. I think most
- 1:23:33Speaker 1: people think he's staying. Is that right? Yeah, that's not
- 1:23:37Speaker 1: that I've heard. Oh yeah, everyone's just like, oh, where's
- 1:23:40Speaker 1: he gonna end up? You know. I think there is
- 1:23:43Speaker 1: some intrigue about whether or not he's gonna keep playing.
- 1:23:47Speaker 1: Um and I think there's some other quarterbacks out there.
- 1:23:50Speaker 1: You wrote about this too, Paul, right with the uh Yeah.
- 1:23:53Speaker 1: I mean, I think that the Packers guys have been
- 1:23:56Speaker 1: on this and saying that they think he's either going
- 1:23:59Speaker 1: to retire will stay there. They don't see the very
- 1:24:02Speaker 1: small percentage of him changing teams. I think that they're
- 1:24:06Speaker 1: wishful thinking. I think there's a legitimate chance that he
- 1:24:08Speaker 1: could leave. I don't think there's much of a chance
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: of Russell Wilson leaving because I haven't heard much about it.
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: But I don't rule that out either. But I think
- 1:24:15Speaker 1: I think both of those guys could go. I think
- 1:24:17Speaker 1: Fred you're right there. I think there was a little
- 1:24:19Speaker 1: bit of momentum at the very end of the playoffs
- 1:24:23Speaker 1: for Rogers to the Packers, especially, I mean Rogers to
- 1:24:25Speaker 1: the Broncos, especially when they hired the Packers, yeah, right
- 1:24:30Speaker 1: as their head coach. And I think there was a
- 1:24:31Speaker 1: lot of talk at that point about that. But I
- 1:24:34Speaker 1: think it seems that the Tide teams to have changed
- 1:24:37Speaker 1: more towards well. When he originally came back last summer
- 1:24:43Speaker 1: he decided to return, everybody reported that they had made
- 1:24:47Speaker 1: an arrangement with Rogers that they would agree to trade
- 1:24:51Speaker 1: him if he still wanted to be traded after the season.
- 1:24:56Speaker 1: The Packers GM Brian, I don't really know how to
- 1:24:59Speaker 1: pronounce his Gudenuss Gudacust has said that he'd never made
- 1:25:04Speaker 1: such a promise to Rogers. That to me is worrisome
- 1:25:09Speaker 1: if you're a Packers fan. Yeah. So now everything looked
- 1:25:14Speaker 1: like it was kind of going good. You know. Rogers
- 1:25:17Speaker 1: said he would you know, he would talk about it.
- 1:25:19Speaker 1: He'd made no brash declarations. Well I'm out now, you know,
- 1:25:23Speaker 1: the season ended. He was disappointed. He said he would
- 1:25:25Speaker 1: take some time, but he would make a decision quickly
- 1:25:28Speaker 1: on his future. There were no indications that he was
- 1:25:31Speaker 1: imminently leaving, And now the Packers are publicly saying, well,
- 1:25:34Speaker 1: we never told him, We never said that, We never
- 1:25:37Speaker 1: said that. Okay, maybe you're right, but why are we Yeah,
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: why are you doing that? Like? Yeah, to me, I
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: could see that being something that that bugged Rogers. Um oh,
- 1:25:50Speaker 1: the phones are stacking up here, um, patriots unfiltered. So
- 1:25:54Speaker 1: let's see what people have to say. We'll start with
- 1:25:57Speaker 1: Andrew in La. What's up? Andrews is stacked? Hey, guys,
- 1:26:00Speaker 1: how's it going. How's your weekend? Good? Good? How about you?
- 1:26:04Speaker 1: Not too bad? I spent some time with some family
- 1:26:07Speaker 1: from out of town, so it was a good one.
- 1:26:09Speaker 1: But hey, um, on Paul's show a couple of weeks ago,
- 1:26:15Speaker 1: I heard a stat that Belgee said, Um, I think
- 1:26:19Speaker 1: it was I can't remember the source, but they said
- 1:26:22Speaker 1: that the Eagles over the last ten years had spent
- 1:26:26Speaker 1: I think like one hundred and sixty or one hundred
- 1:26:28Speaker 1: and seventy million dollars more than the Patriots and Trap Trap.
- 1:26:38Speaker 1: But yeah, but if we average that out, it's about
- 1:26:41Speaker 1: sixteen seventeen million dollars a year. The Eagles are spending more.
- 1:26:45Speaker 1: And I know that's not always the case, and it's
- 1:26:47Speaker 1: you know, it depends on year to year, but that's
- 1:26:49Speaker 1: the price of a really good edge rusher or a
- 1:26:52Speaker 1: really good linebacker or a really good wide receiver. And
- 1:26:56Speaker 1: you know, for someone that says they do what's in
- 1:26:59Speaker 1: the best interest of the football team, like Bill Belichick,
- 1:27:01Speaker 1: that doesn't always line up with the statistics that I'm reading.
- 1:27:05Speaker 1: So I was just curious about people that kind of
- 1:27:07Speaker 1: still believe that Belichick is doing what's in the best
- 1:27:10Speaker 1: interests of the football team and he knows what he's doing.
- 1:27:13Speaker 1: How does that kind of line up with you guys?
- 1:27:18Speaker 1: And maybe you, you know, Andrew or Paul because it's
- 1:27:20Speaker 1: his show, can answer this. But why did Felger pick
- 1:27:23Speaker 1: the Eagles? Are they the team that spent the most,
- 1:27:26Speaker 1: the highest they're the highest Okay, Yeah, and they're known
- 1:27:29Speaker 1: for doing that. I mean, I think everyone knows that
- 1:27:31Speaker 1: they're really high role with Okay, so I mean so
- 1:27:36Speaker 1: so the same question you should ask of every other
- 1:27:38Speaker 1: team that hasn't spent as much, right, Okay, So now
- 1:27:40Speaker 1: we're just gonna yes we are, Why don't we just
- 1:27:45Speaker 1: I think what Andrew's trying to get at is do
- 1:27:47Speaker 1: people still have the same faith that what the Patriots,
- 1:27:51Speaker 1: how they go about it is the way to do it.
- 1:27:53Speaker 1: And I would say unequivocally the answer to that is yes, yes,
- 1:27:57Speaker 1: um no, No matter what the Patriots due Andrew, that's
- 1:28:01Speaker 1: the way to do it. And that's the only way
- 1:28:03Speaker 1: to do it, according to a lot and that's not all,
- 1:28:06Speaker 1: not all, but a lot of Patriots fans. And that's
- 1:28:09Speaker 1: why I brought up earlier in the show about Jase Jackson.
- 1:28:12Speaker 1: I want to know what you think now, right, No,
- 1:28:14Speaker 1: that's fair, and I don't want the Patriots to sign
- 1:28:18Speaker 1: this guy to a long term deal. And then you
- 1:28:20Speaker 1: tell me it's a great move, master stroke by Belichick
- 1:28:24Speaker 1: when you actually think before the deal was signed that
- 1:28:27Speaker 1: they should let him walk, right in vice versa, Right,
- 1:28:30Speaker 1: I want to know what happens, what you think beforehand,
- 1:28:33Speaker 1: because I'll tell you right now, Andrew, a vast majority
- 1:28:37Speaker 1: of the vocal Patriots fans who call into shows and
- 1:28:41Speaker 1: right into opine about the Patriots, we'll be on board
- 1:28:46Speaker 1: with whatever Build decides. That's the way it will be.
- 1:28:48Speaker 1: I'm telling you right now, it'll be adamant as well.
- 1:28:51Speaker 1: Whatever the whatever the Patriots did, it was the right
- 1:28:53Speaker 1: thing to do. Yeah, yeah, and then you're crucified if
- 1:28:56Speaker 1: you happen to disagree with what Bill Belichick. No, but
- 1:28:59Speaker 1: I think, I think when I think a lot of
- 1:29:01Speaker 1: people are questioning Bill right now about why isn't he
- 1:29:06Speaker 1: naming an offensive coordinea? Why is he doing that? Why
- 1:29:08Speaker 1: isn't he naming a defensive coordina? And I've heard just
- 1:29:10Speaker 1: as many people saying that it makes sense. You keep
- 1:29:13Speaker 1: these these job just titles. You don't need them. They're
- 1:29:15Speaker 1: not important. I know. I've heard many people people are criticizing.
- 1:29:19Speaker 1: I've heard many people defending the people on the radio
- 1:29:21Speaker 1: that the hosts criticize people calling in no, no, no,
- 1:29:27Speaker 1: that's the way to do it. Keep them all in
- 1:29:29Speaker 1: their toe, my god, hungry. No. There's a lot of
- 1:29:31Speaker 1: criticism out there to do more with that. Bill gets
- 1:29:35Speaker 1: all the credit as he succeeds, but then he can
- 1:29:37Speaker 1: blame people that don't have coordinators assigned. You know, if
- 1:29:41Speaker 1: that's a master stroke, he's he's done it well, he's
- 1:29:45Speaker 1: done it well. I mean people, Fred Fred falls right
- 1:29:48Speaker 1: into it. How many times has Fred told you? And
- 1:29:50Speaker 1: he does it with the smallest coaching staff in we
- 1:29:53Speaker 1: have not true, but he says it every day, less coaches.
- 1:29:56Speaker 1: It's true, it's true. But yet when they go when
- 1:29:59Speaker 1: they go seven, when they go seven to nine and
- 1:30:02Speaker 1: don't make the playoffs. One of the reasons that they
- 1:30:05Speaker 1: didn't make the playoffs isn't because he doesn't have enough help,
- 1:30:07Speaker 1: was Cam Newton. It does not because he doesn't have
- 1:30:09Speaker 1: enough help. So you see the master strokes that Belichick
- 1:30:13Speaker 1: has has pulled off. It's a master class in deception.
- 1:30:17Speaker 1: I know people just think he's the greatest ever. I
- 1:30:19Speaker 1: don't know why they do, right, because people like you
- 1:30:22Speaker 1: perpetuate the midst So you don't think he is, but
- 1:30:25Speaker 1: you agree he is. I agree he's a great coach. Yeah,
- 1:30:28Speaker 1: I don't want to tell you that he's the greatest
- 1:30:30Speaker 1: ever or not, but I think he's a great coach.
- 1:30:33Speaker 1: But I, unlike you, will criticize him when he doesn't
- 1:30:37Speaker 1: do it the way that I think he should. That's true.
- 1:30:39Speaker 1: You will just automatically say, well, I thought this beforehand,
- 1:30:43Speaker 1: but Bill didn't do it, so I must he must
- 1:30:45Speaker 1: know something that I know. Yeah, I'll give Fred credit.
- 1:30:48Speaker 1: Fred says I was wrong. Yeah, you know Bill did
- 1:30:50Speaker 1: it that way, so he was right. I listen. I
- 1:30:53Speaker 1: was very vocal when they traded Sony Michelle. I came
- 1:30:56Speaker 1: right out at that time. I didn't wait, he's hanging
- 1:30:59Speaker 1: his head on that one. I didn't wait. There plenty
- 1:31:04Speaker 1: of there's plenty of of examples of me not being
- 1:31:09Speaker 1: in line. But I think for the most part, no
- 1:31:12Speaker 1: one does it. No one does it. No one's perfect.
- 1:31:15Speaker 1: But no one does it better, you know, right, no one? Yeah,
- 1:31:19Speaker 1: but nobody. I don't know what that means, Like, no
- 1:31:22Speaker 1: one does it better, No one's perfect. You know. Should
- 1:31:27Speaker 1: we be questioning about whether he's doing things in the
- 1:31:29Speaker 1: best interests of the team. No, we shouldn't be questioning that. Well, okay,
- 1:31:33Speaker 1: you know he does do things in the best interests
- 1:31:35Speaker 1: of the team. You know, you don't have to agree
- 1:31:39Speaker 1: with every one of them. But but I'm not. I'm not.
- 1:31:42Speaker 1: That's how we get in these problems. We don't question.
- 1:31:44Speaker 1: I'm not going to question his motives like you can
- 1:31:47Speaker 1: question his moves and whether you agree with that. But
- 1:31:50Speaker 1: you know you're you're now saying, well, he's mutinous your question.
- 1:31:54Speaker 1: He questions his motives in Super Bowl fifty two um
- 1:31:57Speaker 1: with with Butler. No you don't know, unabashedly no, No,
- 1:32:04Speaker 1: he wasn't in the right mindset. He was wasn't in
- 1:32:07Speaker 1: the right mindset, Butler. It was crying because he was crying.
- 1:32:13Speaker 1: Oh my god, that's Freddie. His mind wasn't right. This
- 1:32:17Speaker 1: is why where we need the cameras, because he's got
- 1:32:19Speaker 1: the smirk on his face. This is why you are
- 1:32:21Speaker 1: the best who's ever done this. That line right there,
- 1:32:25Speaker 1: he was crying. He was crying because he didn't there
- 1:32:31Speaker 1: can't have a guy in they're all emotional. Gotta let
- 1:32:33Speaker 1: Johnson bad EMSI win it for you. Uh, let's go
- 1:32:36Speaker 1: to Sean and Vancouver. What's up, Sean, Paul. I want
- 1:32:40Speaker 1: to clarify Thursday in my email, it's not that pretty
- 1:32:44Speaker 1: much was saying what you you said today. It's it's
- 1:32:46Speaker 1: not that I want the Patriots not to sign Jasey Jackson.
- 1:32:51Speaker 1: I'd love them to do that. I just said, I
- 1:32:52Speaker 1: don't think they will, Like he said, they have too
- 1:32:54Speaker 1: many needs. I just don't. Yeah, I would rather know
- 1:32:57Speaker 1: what you think they should do, other than what you
- 1:33:00Speaker 1: think they will do. Like we can predict it. But
- 1:33:03Speaker 1: like if you think they should, then you should be
- 1:33:07Speaker 1: mad if they don't, well, I'd rather they keep every player.
- 1:33:10Speaker 1: There's never a time I want them to cut a
- 1:33:12Speaker 1: good player. But I don't. You know, it's not my money.
- 1:33:16Speaker 1: It's not gonna be about money. It just it's it won't.
- 1:33:19Speaker 1: But um, I think they won't value the player the
- 1:33:23Speaker 1: way you do. I think it's. Yeah, that's the thing.
- 1:33:26Speaker 1: I think if they thought he was as good as
- 1:33:28Speaker 1: Gilmour was, they sign him. You know, Um yeah, they
- 1:33:33Speaker 1: just because that's the thing. They will play. They will
- 1:33:37Speaker 1: pay a player that they think is worth it. But
- 1:33:40Speaker 1: it's it's tough for them to say. They don't think
- 1:33:43Speaker 1: as many players are worth it as other teams do
- 1:33:46Speaker 1: for some reason. For whatever reason. You know, they're frugal
- 1:33:49Speaker 1: with their money. It's not it's I think they're frugal
- 1:33:52Speaker 1: with their evaluation. They're tougher in their evaluation of players,
- 1:33:56Speaker 1: and maybe some other teams are. I don't think it's
- 1:33:58Speaker 1: a matter of being frugal and it works when you
- 1:34:00Speaker 1: have the best who's ever played, yeah, right, but not
- 1:34:04Speaker 1: so much when you like I don't think it's a
- 1:34:06Speaker 1: matter of being cheat, because that's what you're saying. I
- 1:34:08Speaker 1: think it's I'm not saying they're very tough with how
- 1:34:11Speaker 1: they rate players, and for them to admit, like a
- 1:34:14Speaker 1: guy is worth the money, that's hard. That's harder for
- 1:34:17Speaker 1: them than I think than other teams. But there are
- 1:34:19Speaker 1: but there are teams that are willing to overspend to
- 1:34:22Speaker 1: get a talented player right, and a lot of teams
- 1:34:25Speaker 1: and a lot of those players I think this regime
- 1:34:28Speaker 1: would say he ain't worth it. No, I know, but
- 1:34:31Speaker 1: but but it's not like But the part that you
- 1:34:33Speaker 1: miss is they're wrong a lot when they do that,
- 1:34:35Speaker 1: but they're also right a lot. Well, but there's nobody
- 1:34:38Speaker 1: nothing they just look at one right all the time
- 1:34:41Speaker 1: when they do that, not all the time because they
- 1:34:44Speaker 1: because they won for twenty years time well, having the
- 1:34:46Speaker 1: best player who's ever played, they won for twenty years
- 1:34:49Speaker 1: and that validated they were right about him too. By
- 1:34:51Speaker 1: the way, how how so like they they elevated him
- 1:34:56Speaker 1: right away. Right, they elevated him right away. They wouldn't
- 1:34:59Speaker 1: pay him. Did they let him walk after twenty years? Right?
- 1:35:02Speaker 1: They let him walk because they didn't value him the
- 1:35:04Speaker 1: way other teams did, and other teams won super bowls
- 1:35:08Speaker 1: with him. They did all right with him? Oh, John
- 1:35:12Speaker 1: had not enough? Sean had enough of us? Yeah, they did,
- 1:35:15Speaker 1: all right. Uh. Jeff's in Texas. What's up? Jeff? Hey, guys,
- 1:35:22Speaker 1: how are you good? All right? Yeah? Thanks thinking my call? Uh. Um,
- 1:35:27Speaker 1: I got a couple of points I like to put in,
- 1:35:29Speaker 1: but before I do. As far as j C. Jackson, um,
- 1:35:33Speaker 1: I am definitely saying, um, let him go or trade
- 1:35:37Speaker 1: him away, and you get to take that money and
- 1:35:38Speaker 1: spread that money around. Um, maybe you know some to
- 1:35:42Speaker 1: sign some of the veterans to bring in some new
- 1:35:44Speaker 1: free agent veterans. That's that's my take on that. Okay,
- 1:35:47Speaker 1: I like him. As far as the yeah, as far
- 1:35:50Speaker 1: as the draft, Um, my precursor is, what if what
- 1:35:54Speaker 1: if the Patriots signed Juju Smith Schuster h Could they
- 1:35:58Speaker 1: sign him before the draft? Possibly? Yes? Oh yeah, yeah,
- 1:36:01Speaker 1: oh yeah, any time after free agency starts March sixteenth,
- 1:36:05Speaker 1: any time after March sixteenth, they can Yeah, okay, so
- 1:36:08Speaker 1: so so this is my scenario. Then, so let's say that.
- 1:36:11Speaker 1: Let's say that does happen. Um, I just want to
- 1:36:15Speaker 1: stay when we get to our pick at twenty one
- 1:36:17Speaker 1: if if, um, we don't have somebody that's the Patriots
- 1:36:20Speaker 1: have been eyeballing, say either offfense, defense or cornerback. If
- 1:36:24Speaker 1: somebody calls Belichick and says, hey, we'll give you a
- 1:36:29Speaker 1: fourth and a seventh or something next year or whatever,
- 1:36:32Speaker 1: I think Belichick wants to load up on pick, and
- 1:36:35Speaker 1: I'd be okay with that. And then as far as
- 1:36:37Speaker 1: another wide recept Wait, wait, wait, what are we getting
- 1:36:39Speaker 1: for the fourth and the seventh? What are you what
- 1:36:41Speaker 1: are we giving away for the fourth and seventh? We're
- 1:36:44Speaker 1: giving up. I'm just saying, like our twenty first pick.
- 1:36:47Speaker 1: Oh no, I would never, Oh my god. I'm just saying,
- 1:36:52Speaker 1: what would you know? What would you guys think it
- 1:36:54Speaker 1: would be worth our first round pick? It'd be worth
- 1:36:57Speaker 1: their first round pick. And it depends if it's hire
- 1:37:00Speaker 1: or lower, like you could get like a two and
- 1:37:02Speaker 1: a three or something like that. Yeah, or first round
- 1:37:04Speaker 1: pick next or first round pick next or a player yeah,
- 1:37:07Speaker 1: and a pick. Yeah, So I'm good with that unless
- 1:37:10Speaker 1: there's like a guy they absolutely wanted, but somebody calls
- 1:37:13Speaker 1: in with offers that. I mean, so you're open to
- 1:37:16Speaker 1: trading down, which is fine. Yeah, I think trading down
- 1:37:19Speaker 1: makes some sense in this scenario, this in this year,
- 1:37:21Speaker 1: I would, you know, fashion against that to see what
- 1:37:25Speaker 1: held the board unfolds and see like like Jeff said,
- 1:37:28Speaker 1: like if there's a guy that Patriots really like at
- 1:37:30Speaker 1: a position that they really need, um, a lot of
- 1:37:34Speaker 1: groundswell all of a sudden for Juju Smith Schuster. By
- 1:37:37Speaker 1: the way, I'm not in love with him, Okay, me neither. Like,
- 1:37:40Speaker 1: even if you got him, I would still draft a
- 1:37:44Speaker 1: receiver in the one you liked. You know, so you're
- 1:37:47Speaker 1: leaning towards you want a first round receiver. No, if
- 1:37:50Speaker 1: this one you like, yeah you you. I want to
- 1:37:53Speaker 1: take the best player available. This is this. I mean,
- 1:37:56Speaker 1: we don't have to keep going down this road because
- 1:37:58Speaker 1: I know he's gonna have that smirk he's and eventually
- 1:38:00Speaker 1: he's gonna make me pop. Yeah I want. I want.
- 1:38:02Speaker 1: What he's telling you is whatever they take, he's gonna
- 1:38:05Speaker 1: write on. Yeah, I want to take the best player available, right,
- 1:38:08Speaker 1: So that's a great nebulous like phrase to use, that
- 1:38:13Speaker 1: you can never be proven wrong. It's great, there is,
- 1:38:15Speaker 1: it's great. It's a great way to go through life.
- 1:38:17Speaker 1: We all agree that there's so many things that they need, right,
- 1:38:20Speaker 1: so pick one. You can only pick one. You're in
- 1:38:22Speaker 1: charge of the draft, Fred kersh, who do you pick?
- 1:38:24Speaker 1: But you don't go into the draft saying we're going
- 1:38:27Speaker 1: to take a cornerback in the first round. That's stupid,
- 1:38:30Speaker 1: I think is the most like the do you need
- 1:38:34Speaker 1: what's number one on your your need? Speed on defense?
- 1:38:38Speaker 1: A position can give me a position that it's a
- 1:38:43Speaker 1: master class. That's stupid to do that. I'm not gonna
- 1:38:45Speaker 1: kill you. Like on draft, I and said friend friend
- 1:38:47Speaker 1: thought they should take a corner. The caller that thought
- 1:38:50Speaker 1: the first hour, the caller called in and asked me
- 1:38:52Speaker 1: and Paul, we both agree we would take a cornerback
- 1:38:54Speaker 1: if all you know, all things, if everything's even, yes
- 1:38:57Speaker 1: we're taking a corner, which they never are. But if
- 1:38:59Speaker 1: they are in the game, okay, I'll take it's a
- 1:39:02Speaker 1: hypothetic if it's if it's all. But but you love
- 1:39:06Speaker 1: to just say, like basically, well what if they really
- 1:39:10Speaker 1: like them? Yeah, well, no, poop. They really like him.
- 1:39:13Speaker 1: They took him. They really liked nikkil Harry. So they
- 1:39:16Speaker 1: draft a kicker, they drafted them. You're okay with that,
- 1:39:18Speaker 1: Like they don't draft them in the first round because
- 1:39:21Speaker 1: they don't like them. The Patriots will never do that.
- 1:39:23Speaker 1: How do you know? I never. You can never say
- 1:39:25Speaker 1: never with the never gonna draft a kicker. You could
- 1:39:27Speaker 1: never say never with Bill Belichick. There's another ground swell
- 1:39:29Speaker 1: that's going on. So people have Jake Bailey out of town.
- 1:39:32Speaker 1: Have you seen this? No, there's like a lefty punter,
- 1:39:35Speaker 1: you know, one of these stop it. No, not you,
- 1:39:38Speaker 1: I'm you're talking about Billy didn't have a great year.
- 1:39:41Speaker 1: He didn't. But you don't think that's a possibility. No,
- 1:39:44Speaker 1: I don't. Oh, I do I think he I think
- 1:39:45Speaker 1: it was injured for most of the year and had
- 1:39:47Speaker 1: a down year coming off of an All Pro count.
- 1:39:50Speaker 1: Is in the fifth round you couldn't see them drafted.
- 1:39:52Speaker 1: So this is I think he's a good player. Is
- 1:39:54Speaker 1: this his fourth year coming up? This would be his Uh?
- 1:39:57Speaker 1: I think it's his fourth gets fourth year? Yeah, I absolutely,
- 1:40:01Speaker 1: I don't. I don't rule it out. I don't think
- 1:40:02Speaker 1: it'll happen. I think it'd be dumb because I don't
- 1:40:05Speaker 1: think Punter's cost anything. But yeah, I absolutely would not
- 1:40:09Speaker 1: rule it out. I gotta look up the guys. I
- 1:40:11Speaker 1: think he's a good a good player, and I don't
- 1:40:13Speaker 1: think they I think they can cut him a little
- 1:40:15Speaker 1: slack from last year. I think it's a kid from
- 1:40:17Speaker 1: San Diego State. There's that matter. Raisa Riza. I think
- 1:40:24Speaker 1: that's the guy I'm thinking of. But yeah, a lot
- 1:40:28Speaker 1: of people have like him mocked to the Patriots in
- 1:40:32Speaker 1: like the sixth round, which I can't stand something. Let
- 1:40:35Speaker 1: me ask you, guys, So first round, first pick, and
- 1:40:40Speaker 1: you know the Patriots end up taking a linebacker instead
- 1:40:44Speaker 1: of a cornerback, You're gonna be upset. Nope, No, all right,
- 1:40:47Speaker 1: So that's all I'm saying. Yeah, but no, But what
- 1:40:50Speaker 1: you're saying is you think it will be the right
- 1:40:51Speaker 1: move no matter what. Like, if there's a cornerback that
- 1:40:55Speaker 1: I like more than the linebacker that they take, I'll
- 1:40:57Speaker 1: be mad. No, if the guy's a bus, he's a bust,
- 1:41:01Speaker 1: you know. No. What I'm saying is if I like, uh,
- 1:41:06Speaker 1: Derek Stingley or Trent McDuffie and he's available and they
- 1:41:12Speaker 1: take some linebacker that I don't like as much. You'll
- 1:41:17Speaker 1: just say, well piled and they like that. Whoa whoa,
- 1:41:20Speaker 1: whoa whoa, whoa whoa. How many times in our draft
- 1:41:23Speaker 1: show do we have our guy that we think, oh draft,
- 1:41:26Speaker 1: you know, picks coming up? Who do you want? And
- 1:41:28Speaker 1: I get upset because they didn't pick my guy I
- 1:41:30Speaker 1: could think of, Justin Jefferson. It happens as many times
- 1:41:33Speaker 1: as you. We all have our guys that we really
- 1:41:36Speaker 1: really like Justin Jefferson, and I think he went off
- 1:41:39Speaker 1: the board right around when they picked. And they all
- 1:41:41Speaker 1: have our guys that we like, and we get disappointed
- 1:41:43Speaker 1: when they don't. You get disappointed, and then the next day,
- 1:41:45Speaker 1: after you sleep it off, you come back and say,
- 1:41:46Speaker 1: you know, the more I think about it, this was
- 1:41:48Speaker 1: a great pick. You look at it as a whole,
- 1:41:50Speaker 1: and you do a little bit more recent and you
- 1:41:53Speaker 1: get educated, you get educated. You know, rarely do I
- 1:41:58Speaker 1: say get educated education. I rarely say that you do
- 1:42:01Speaker 1: better at the draft. I really say that picks were great,
- 1:42:04Speaker 1: because that's no, you don't know. I'll give you that.
- 1:42:07Speaker 1: But you get on one of those guys, you get
- 1:42:09Speaker 1: on board with their picks more quickly than some of us. Yeah,
- 1:42:12Speaker 1: I mean I get pumped up. Sure. The other thing
- 1:42:15Speaker 1: I like about the seven round mock drafts, Yeah, somehow
- 1:42:19Speaker 1: these guys that do that find a way to pick
- 1:42:21Speaker 1: seven guys that you know, oh yeah, right, pick you know,
- 1:42:25Speaker 1: I know, like fifty guys in the draft. Yeah. And
- 1:42:27Speaker 1: somehow I got a guy that I really, I'm intimately
- 1:42:30Speaker 1: a like, I know, you know, really well, I scouted
- 1:42:32Speaker 1: this guy and I got him at two thirty years.
- 1:42:34Speaker 1: I didn't think he'd be there either. Should have gone
- 1:42:36Speaker 1: in the second round. He's available in the seventh. Sure,
- 1:42:38Speaker 1: I'll take him. Right. Let's go to Travis and chapel Hill.
- 1:42:44Speaker 1: What's up Travis? Hey, guys, Hey, I just got two questions.
- 1:42:50Speaker 1: My first. I started listening to you guys right after
- 1:42:52Speaker 1: the Detroit game on Sunday night a couple of years ago.
- 1:42:57Speaker 1: You guys were talking about how the Patriots needed to
- 1:43:00Speaker 1: get feed on Deefet. I know that we've drafted players,
- 1:43:03Speaker 1: but we haven't seen the speed yet. On defense, I
- 1:43:06Speaker 1: would agree the defensive bats like Bugger Williams chunk playing
- 1:43:14Speaker 1: linebackers at speed more than the speed that we want.
- 1:43:17Speaker 1: Light the Devin white the bush. Yeah. I think it's
- 1:43:21Speaker 1: a great question, Travis, and it's one that we've been
- 1:43:22Speaker 1: talking about for a while, um as you just alluded to.
- 1:43:25Speaker 1: But I do think that he values size in the
- 1:43:31Speaker 1: middle over speed. I do think that's a philosophical trait
- 1:43:35Speaker 1: that Belichick is He's more interested in the two hundred
- 1:43:38Speaker 1: and forty five two hundred and fifty pound linebacker who
- 1:43:40Speaker 1: might not be quite as fast as a two hundred
- 1:43:43Speaker 1: and twenty five two hundred and thirty pound linebacker. Yeah.
- 1:43:45Speaker 1: Do you also think that the style or Bill's philosophy
- 1:43:48Speaker 1: on defense, especially guys on the edge, hinders them flying
- 1:43:52Speaker 1: around like they're so focused on your job and take
- 1:43:56Speaker 1: the instincts out of it, you know, and it makes
- 1:43:59Speaker 1: them look slower. Could be you know, could Yeah. So
- 1:44:03Speaker 1: I don't know, Like, you know, High Tower this year,
- 1:44:05Speaker 1: like I know he's slowed down, He's not, but like
- 1:44:08Speaker 1: sometimes he just looks like he's you know, you know,
- 1:44:12Speaker 1: wasn't the only one either. There are a lot of
- 1:44:14Speaker 1: players on defense that we saw looking like statues. Yeah,
- 1:44:17Speaker 1: just kind of like that's why I just want to
- 1:44:20Speaker 1: see it sort of a changing of the guard. I know,
- 1:44:22Speaker 1: I you and I had a long discussion about this
- 1:44:24Speaker 1: during the season. I want to see Ouch. I want
- 1:44:27Speaker 1: to see mcgron next year if he's healthy. I want
- 1:44:30Speaker 1: to see Ronnie Perkins. I want to see some some
- 1:44:32Speaker 1: fresh blood. And if they can't play, let's move on
- 1:44:34Speaker 1: and get rid of those guys too. I'm not married
- 1:44:36Speaker 1: to him. Yeah, but I think that they've sort of
- 1:44:40Speaker 1: capped out the High Tower Collins van Noy iteration of
- 1:44:44Speaker 1: the linebacker corps. Yeah, all right, Travis, thanks for calling in.
- 1:44:49Speaker 1: Neil writes in um from New Brunswick. Word, does Fred
- 1:44:54Speaker 1: have stock and speed? Queen? Oh my goodness, was embarrassing
- 1:44:58Speaker 1: his offseason check list. Tag Jackson, hire an actual coordinator,
- 1:45:03Speaker 1: resign Hoyer, Let High Tower go and draft a wide
- 1:45:06Speaker 1: receiver in the first round. Go Ukraine, he says, so
- 1:45:10Speaker 1: oh amen to that. Um. Yeah, so he wants to
- 1:45:15Speaker 1: get a in the first round. His whole list, his
- 1:45:20Speaker 1: whole m O there isn't bad. Yeah, listen, I'm I'm
- 1:45:24Speaker 1: if they draft a wide receiver or a cornerback or
- 1:45:27Speaker 1: a linebacker in the first round, I'll be thrilled. Yeah,
- 1:45:30Speaker 1: you have a lot of positions to choose from in
- 1:45:32Speaker 1: terms of can I get it on record, I doubt
- 1:45:36Speaker 1: I doubt it. But what would you not be thrilled
- 1:45:38Speaker 1: with if they drafted in the first round? Punter? What
- 1:45:40Speaker 1: else beside snapper, beside specialist in quarterback? What would you
- 1:45:46Speaker 1: not be Okay, that's a good question. Um guard, okay, yeah,
- 1:45:50Speaker 1: offensive line yep, But I tackle you. But like I know,
- 1:45:55Speaker 1: I know this is people gonna like. I can't believe
- 1:45:58Speaker 1: you said that if they drafted a center, I wouldn't
- 1:46:00Speaker 1: be upset about that. That good center. Why you don't
- 1:46:04Speaker 1: like it? You don't like David I think I like Andrews.
- 1:46:06Speaker 1: He's good. But if they if there's like this really
- 1:46:09Speaker 1: blue chip center, get him? Why because you think that
- 1:46:15Speaker 1: you think that's a vulnerability. No, well, I think he
- 1:46:18Speaker 1: can get better. We all talk about run blocking. Where
- 1:46:20Speaker 1: did they draft David Andrews? They didn't. Yeah, he was
- 1:46:23Speaker 1: an undrafted guy, So why would you take him in
- 1:46:25Speaker 1: the first round? Because he's a blue chipper. You know
- 1:46:28Speaker 1: this is a guy. I'm talking about, blue chip guy.
- 1:46:30Speaker 1: And how much better is a blue chip center than
- 1:46:34Speaker 1: David Andrews? You don't know because you haven't had one. Really,
- 1:46:37Speaker 1: they had Damien Woody in the first round. How good
- 1:46:40Speaker 1: he was the first rounder. How good? How good a
- 1:46:42Speaker 1: run blocking is the Detroit Lions offensive line? Do you think?
- 1:46:46Speaker 1: I don't know. Okay, because they drafted Frank Ragnow in
- 1:46:49Speaker 1: the first round a couple of years ago when Matt
- 1:46:50Speaker 1: Patricia was there. Okay, did it make a difference to
- 1:46:52Speaker 1: the line. I don't know. You don't know. I would
- 1:46:55Speaker 1: be I would say, no, apoplectic. If they drafted an
- 1:46:58Speaker 1: interior offensive line. Yeah, I wouldn't do a guard. But
- 1:47:00Speaker 1: if like, like a guy that is like that's what
- 1:47:02Speaker 1: he is, Like if it was a tackle and then
- 1:47:05Speaker 1: he ended up eventually like moving in like Isaiah Win
- 1:47:08Speaker 1: you've always wanted to do. Yeah, Like, I don't think
- 1:47:10Speaker 1: I would be pissed off about that. Yeah. But if
- 1:47:12Speaker 1: they drafted just a guy who likes a center. But first,
- 1:47:18Speaker 1: but if if the I mean at twenty one, but
- 1:47:21Speaker 1: if the scouting report isn't I know, scotting reports aren't
- 1:47:24Speaker 1: always that, But if the scout report is this guy's
- 1:47:26Speaker 1: a sure fire blue chip Hall of Fame candidate, you
- 1:47:30Speaker 1: wouldn't take him. Nope. I think they got bigger needs
- 1:47:32Speaker 1: bigger because I think the difference between that guy and
- 1:47:35Speaker 1: David Andrews is negligible. Yeah, so David Andrews a potential
- 1:47:39Speaker 1: Hall of Famer. No, I just think he's a good player. Yeah,
- 1:47:42Speaker 1: I think that. By the way, between a Hall of
- 1:47:45Speaker 1: Fame caliber player at a position like that, ye, well,
- 1:47:49Speaker 1: you're at the difference between like a an also ran
- 1:47:51Speaker 1: wide receiver in a Hall of Fame as enormous golf.
- 1:47:56Speaker 1: You have to be really good to get in them.
- 1:47:58Speaker 1: I don't think you're a center away from winning or
- 1:48:00Speaker 1: being competed. Well, you're not. You're nothing away from no
- 1:48:02Speaker 1: team anywhere, every exactly, but that you can say that's
- 1:48:05Speaker 1: for the same position, for any position. You're not anything
- 1:48:07Speaker 1: away one position. Yeah, I think you can say that.
- 1:48:10Speaker 1: No you can't. We're not a cornerback away from winning
- 1:48:12Speaker 1: the Super Bowl. No, we're not a wide receiver away
- 1:48:15Speaker 1: from winning. There are teams that are, though you talk
- 1:48:17Speaker 1: about us when we're nothing one position, we're not. That's
- 1:48:21Speaker 1: why I wouldn't waste it on a center. Yeah. I
- 1:48:23Speaker 1: don't think if the guy's a great player, it's not wasted.
- 1:48:27Speaker 1: It's not wasted like they have. They're nine players away
- 1:48:31Speaker 1: from Super Bowl contention, and they draft a center in
- 1:48:33Speaker 1: the first round and they become nine players away from that. Yeah,
- 1:48:39Speaker 1: I think cornerback, wide receiver, UH, linebacker, tackle, any of
- 1:48:47Speaker 1: those I could see being in the first edge. Edge,
- 1:48:49Speaker 1: defensive players, defensive players, like there's a defensive tackle, any
- 1:48:52Speaker 1: of those any sort. Right, there's a lot of needs.
- 1:48:55Speaker 1: I would not put center on my list of any
- 1:48:58Speaker 1: of those needs. Well, Paul class, is there any position
- 1:49:01Speaker 1: that you would be? That's the only one he had.
- 1:49:05Speaker 1: So it's just basically telling you that whatever they take,
- 1:49:08Speaker 1: he's going to be happy. I'm good. I'm okay taking
- 1:49:10Speaker 1: good play See, I won't be happy if they take
- 1:49:12Speaker 1: a defense. I'm okay taking really good players. And that's
- 1:49:15Speaker 1: in friend's defense. That's his master class right there. He'll
- 1:49:19Speaker 1: fall back on they think he's great. I'm obviously gonna
- 1:49:22Speaker 1: suppress my disappointment with the position by saying he's a
- 1:49:25Speaker 1: really good playoff. When they when they drafted Devin mccordy,
- 1:49:30Speaker 1: I was like, what, Like, I wasn't on board with that,
- 1:49:33Speaker 1: but I was, you know, as a quarterback, I was right.
- 1:49:36Speaker 1: But as a player for this team for a long time,
- 1:49:39Speaker 1: he was absolutely worth the pick, no doubt about it,
- 1:49:43Speaker 1: you know, but he wasn't a cornerback. Well, and that's
- 1:49:47Speaker 1: what they drafted him. In fairness, he made the Pro
- 1:49:49Speaker 1: Bowl as a rookie as a cornerback. He did he
- 1:49:51Speaker 1: had was in a corner No, yeah, I know that,
- 1:49:53Speaker 1: but he was. I mean people thought after his first
- 1:49:55Speaker 1: year he was a cornerback. I think that's one of
- 1:49:57Speaker 1: the picks that they made that was the most in
- 1:49:59Speaker 1: line mine with conventional wisdom. I think everybody in their
- 1:50:03Speaker 1: brother had him going between like twenty five and thirty five. Yeah,
- 1:50:08Speaker 1: and that's right where we took him late in the
- 1:50:09Speaker 1: first round, right, Yeah, I forget the number. I think
- 1:50:11Speaker 1: it was thirty, it was, yeah, yeah, it was that
- 1:50:14Speaker 1: one of the years coming off of Super Bowl, it
- 1:50:15Speaker 1: was somewhere round there. I think that was one of
- 1:50:20Speaker 1: those picks that because he went to Rutgers, people were questioning.
- 1:50:23Speaker 1: And then Bill Bill made the mistake of saying he's
- 1:50:29Speaker 1: a four down player, and people like they drafted a
- 1:50:31Speaker 1: gunner in the first round, Like, no, that's not what
- 1:50:33Speaker 1: he said. Yeah, that's not what Bill said. Here's where
- 1:50:35Speaker 1: I will defend Bill. That's not what he said that day.
- 1:50:38Speaker 1: But yeah, that was a that was a really good pick.
- 1:50:41Speaker 1: The time you drafted a guy in the first round,
- 1:50:42Speaker 1: and he's part of your franchise for a decade plus.
- 1:50:45Speaker 1: That's a good I beg your pardon. He was twenty seventh,
- 1:50:47Speaker 1: twenty seventh, Yeah, okay, that was an off year. Yeah, yeah,
- 1:50:51Speaker 1: twenty that was twenty ten, so coming off that loss
- 1:50:53Speaker 1: to Baltimore for two thousand and nine season, all right,
- 1:50:56Speaker 1: that was one of the worst years in the dynasty. Yeah,
- 1:51:00Speaker 1: um jacket and Abba writes in Jackson is worth paying,
- 1:51:04Speaker 1: but he is not worth paying what the market will
- 1:51:06Speaker 1: give him. Thank you, he's worth paying, Fred, did you
- 1:51:11Speaker 1: just write that email? Thank Jackson for all the great memories.
- 1:51:14Speaker 1: He's worth minimum wage and wish him well with his
- 1:51:16Speaker 1: next team except when they play the page. He's worth paying,
- 1:51:20Speaker 1: just not what he's worth. Yeah, that's what he just said, right,
- 1:51:25Speaker 1: He's not worth paying what the market right, what the
- 1:51:27Speaker 1: market will pay him is worth's worth worth paying? Means
- 1:51:30Speaker 1: what the market he does. He doesn't think the market's
- 1:51:33Speaker 1: right for him, so then he's not worth paying what
- 1:51:35Speaker 1: he says. He says, wish him well, right, he says,
- 1:51:38Speaker 1: Oh no, no, I'm not making fun of that. I'm
- 1:51:39Speaker 1: just saying, like, you don't think he's worth paying exactly. Yeah,
- 1:51:44Speaker 1: like you. I mean, it'd be great if I could
- 1:51:46Speaker 1: get you know, Jay Z Jackson for five million dollars.
- 1:51:49Speaker 1: I think in five years, five millions, I think. I think.
- 1:51:52Speaker 1: I don't want to speak for Jack in an Aba,
- 1:51:55Speaker 1: but he'd probably say he's worth paying like fifteen millions,
- 1:51:58Speaker 1: you know. I mean that's I don't think so, based
- 1:52:00Speaker 1: on the way he's say that email. Yeah, if you
- 1:52:04Speaker 1: think it's worth fifteen, but what's a couple of million
- 1:52:06Speaker 1: more eighteen? Yeah, Zach writes in from Brighton. I wrote
- 1:52:10Speaker 1: in last week regarding Jac to the Eagles for a
- 1:52:12Speaker 1: first round trade. Freddy agree that at first for Jac
- 1:52:17Speaker 1: is asking a lot. But would you include a pick
- 1:52:20Speaker 1: to get that trade done? So we give them Jac
- 1:52:24Speaker 1: and a pick for their first round? What pick? I mean? Yeah,
- 1:52:28Speaker 1: because they have three picks in the first round, the Eagles,
- 1:52:31Speaker 1: JC and what pick. I don't know. The third round.
- 1:52:35Speaker 1: You do it if you might be able to get,
- 1:52:37Speaker 1: you might be able to get what I do it.
- 1:52:38Speaker 1: If I were the Eagles, now, yeah, but I would
- 1:52:42Speaker 1: I would just draft a cornerback in the first round. Like,
- 1:52:44Speaker 1: I don't think that taking a cornerback, giving up a
- 1:52:49Speaker 1: first round pick and paying them one hundred million dollars
- 1:52:52Speaker 1: is worth it for another team. I think it's going
- 1:52:54Speaker 1: to be very right interesting to see where Jackson lands,
- 1:52:58Speaker 1: you know, like who ends up paying him? Like Philly
- 1:53:01Speaker 1: has three first round picks, Why would you trade one
- 1:53:07Speaker 1: so you can get a cornerback that you then have
- 1:53:10Speaker 1: to pay all this money? Wouldn't it just make more
- 1:53:13Speaker 1: sense to well? I guess you could make the argument
- 1:53:17Speaker 1: with one of those first round picks. I'm gonna get
- 1:53:19Speaker 1: somebody I'm absolutely sure of. You know, I'm gonna get
- 1:53:23Speaker 1: a cornerback who's gonna start a day one, and I'm
- 1:53:25Speaker 1: gonna be sure that he's going to be really good.
- 1:53:27Speaker 1: I mean there's something to be said there, you know.
- 1:53:30Speaker 1: But it's not just the difference. I know, and you
- 1:53:32Speaker 1: have to pay him. Yeah, I get it, I get it,
- 1:53:34Speaker 1: but it's far more damaging. But it's what do you
- 1:53:37Speaker 1: mean damaging? Like I have to not only give up
- 1:53:41Speaker 1: a first round pick, I have to give up first
- 1:53:43Speaker 1: round pick and money and it costs you more. Absolutely,
- 1:53:45Speaker 1: But I give up a first round pick and he
- 1:53:47Speaker 1: just plays. But if you think he's a's not gonna
- 1:53:50Speaker 1: kill me unless he's a bust. Yeah, But if you
- 1:53:51Speaker 1: think he's a sure thing, then okay, cornerback solved. You know,
- 1:53:56Speaker 1: I don't know. If you think he's worth the money,
- 1:53:59Speaker 1: then you do it. Somebody's gonna pay him, Yeah, but no,
- 1:54:02Speaker 1: someone will pay him. But I don't think someone's gonna
- 1:54:04Speaker 1: pay him and give a first round pick. Yeah, that's
- 1:54:07Speaker 1: the part of the equation that I don't agree with.
- 1:54:09Speaker 1: I think if he goes to the open market, someone
- 1:54:11Speaker 1: will absolutely pay him. I don't I don't really have
- 1:54:14Speaker 1: much doubt about that someone will pay him. But asking
- 1:54:18Speaker 1: someone to give a first round pick and pay him, now,
- 1:54:20Speaker 1: I have doubts about that. I don't think he's that
- 1:54:22Speaker 1: kind of player. Vashon from New York. Hey, guys, how
- 1:54:27Speaker 1: would you rank our offseason needs? We've kind of talked
- 1:54:29Speaker 1: about that. I would say tackle is the number one.
- 1:54:33Speaker 1: As I think Brown and Win are on their way out,
- 1:54:36Speaker 1: I think we let Jac walk as well. In that
- 1:54:39Speaker 1: we draft a corner in the second round and linebacker
- 1:54:43Speaker 1: in the third. How would you guys feel if the
- 1:54:45Speaker 1: Patriots went in that direction. I would rather the cornerback
- 1:54:49Speaker 1: in the first round because cornerbacks in the second round
- 1:54:52Speaker 1: are and I each a short thing. Wouldn't you say
- 1:54:54Speaker 1: that that's when you get Sorry. The majority of fans
- 1:54:57Speaker 1: that we're hearing from are like, let him go, Jac.
- 1:55:00Speaker 1: I would say, it's about fifty fifty. Yeah, it's pretty
- 1:55:02Speaker 1: pretty split. Yeah. I think some people want to just
- 1:55:06Speaker 1: they don't want to lose the commodity, sure, you know,
- 1:55:09Speaker 1: and they think that makes the defense that much worse. Yep,
- 1:55:14Speaker 1: something that this is Christian writing in which one none
- 1:55:18Speaker 1: of the above. Something that hasn't really had a lot
- 1:55:22Speaker 1: of traction or been talked about a lot is linebackers.
- 1:55:25Speaker 1: In your opinion, which is more important, linebackers or the secondary.
- 1:55:29Speaker 1: If I had it my way, I'd work with Jac
- 1:55:32Speaker 1: to try and get something done, even though it might
- 1:55:35Speaker 1: be a waste of time. But if you cut him,
- 1:55:37Speaker 1: as the famous words of Megan would do, get it.
- 1:55:41Speaker 1: But if you cut him as the famous words of
- 1:55:43Speaker 1: Megan would do, I don't know what that means. Get
- 1:55:45Speaker 1: an affordable, decent replacement for Jac and try and get
- 1:55:49Speaker 1: a good, slash, quick size linebacker then can stop the
- 1:55:53Speaker 1: run and cover if asked to do so. I think
- 1:55:58Speaker 1: it's tough for to find the cornerback. I think a
- 1:56:00Speaker 1: lot of the I'd rather have the corner I think
- 1:56:02Speaker 1: a lot of our listeners take your train of thought
- 1:56:07Speaker 1: for it, Like, we'll just get a replacement for jac Jackson.
- 1:56:09Speaker 1: That's that's decent and affordable. Okay, Oh why didn't I
- 1:56:13Speaker 1: think of that, like the risk of letting jac Jackson?
- 1:56:18Speaker 1: I said, franchise. No, no, no, I'm saying in general,
- 1:56:20Speaker 1: like whatever the Patriots do was right, Like if it
- 1:56:24Speaker 1: was that easy, then you would let everybody go because
- 1:56:28Speaker 1: you can automatically automatic everybody, right, Like, why would you
- 1:56:32Speaker 1: ever pay eighteen million dollars for what you can get
- 1:56:34Speaker 1: for six million dollars? Yea, like you can sign some
- 1:56:39Speaker 1: like was it is it Generius sneed from Kansas City
- 1:56:44Speaker 1: that everybody wants Snead the cornerback from the Chiefs. I
- 1:56:48Speaker 1: don't know if he's as good as J. C. Jackson.
- 1:56:51Speaker 1: I don't know if he is comparable and a better
- 1:56:54Speaker 1: player for the value if you end up signing him
- 1:56:57Speaker 1: to a more affordable contract. But we could just say, like, well,
- 1:57:01Speaker 1: you just get a decent cornerback. Well, that doesn't make
- 1:57:03Speaker 1: you good, right with J. C. Jackson? Your secondary wasn't
- 1:57:06Speaker 1: good enough down the stretch. It was great during the
- 1:57:09Speaker 1: year when you were playing bad teams, but when you
- 1:57:11Speaker 1: when the rubber hit the road at the end of
- 1:57:13Speaker 1: the year, you couldn't stop anybody, and now you're losing
- 1:57:16Speaker 1: the best player off of that to replace with somebody
- 1:57:19Speaker 1: quote decent see I I'd franchise him and draft a
- 1:57:23Speaker 1: cornerback in the first round. That's what I posed today
- 1:57:26Speaker 1: in the notes. That would be the option. If you're
- 1:57:28Speaker 1: gonna franchise him, you still got a draft one. Yeah,
- 1:57:31Speaker 1: Bill and Vista, California. Any thoughts on the rumors of
- 1:57:35Speaker 1: trading a second round pick for Calvin Ridley? Is that
- 1:57:39Speaker 1: a rumor? Has that been talking? A lot of people
- 1:57:42Speaker 1: have been talking about her for a couple of months.
- 1:57:45Speaker 1: I don't I would do it. I don't know for
- 1:57:48Speaker 1: sure that that's what would get it done. If you're
- 1:57:50Speaker 1: the Falcons, Wow, we're up against it already. I know,
- 1:57:54Speaker 1: Quick show. I couldn't. I can't believe Rick Show. Wow.
- 1:57:57Speaker 1: But yeah, I would absolutely be in favor of trading
- 1:57:59Speaker 1: a second round pick for assuming that Calvin Ridley is,
- 1:58:03Speaker 1: assuming that he's mentally ready to play Sean and Maine.
- 1:58:07Speaker 1: I think J. C. Jackson is a better version of
- 1:58:09Speaker 1: Logan Ryan. I would like to keep him at top ten.
- 1:58:12Speaker 1: Money but not top five. If Belichick wants to pay him, Okay,
- 1:58:15Speaker 1: if not, it will hurt. But I will trust Belichick,
- 1:58:19Speaker 1: Sean and May and Fred and Fox World. I actually no,
- 1:58:22Speaker 1: but I give him credit. He's telling you I trust
- 1:58:24Speaker 1: I trust Belichick, Like put your cards on the table
- 1:58:27Speaker 1: before you. I say that with the same thing with you.
- 1:58:29Speaker 1: Actually you're a master class. I say, I trust b
- 1:58:31Speaker 1: and you I trust Be. My point is, don't tell
- 1:58:36Speaker 1: me after the fact. I'm telling you right now. I
- 1:58:39Speaker 1: trust them. I'm sorry for you said that you think
- 1:58:44Speaker 1: that they should tag you. I do, and if they don't,
- 1:58:47Speaker 1: I'd be like, that's a mistake. Okay, okay, but you
- 1:58:51Speaker 1: can see you can do that and still trust Bill. Yeah,
- 1:58:54Speaker 1: that's what I'm trying to tell. So when they don't
- 1:58:57Speaker 1: tag him, no, you're going to be upset or not.
- 1:59:00Speaker 1: I'm not gonna like, you know, resign, But I think
- 1:59:04Speaker 1: that I think they should like the draft. I think
- 1:59:06Speaker 1: they should do that, like seventeen point three million. That's
- 1:59:09Speaker 1: probably gonna be a bargain for one year more of it,
- 1:59:11Speaker 1: based on what people are saying. More mistake that they
- 1:59:14Speaker 1: let him go or Sony Michelle, Oh yeah, come on now,
- 1:59:20Speaker 1: you're just showing your ignorance. I'm asking you. I'm asking you.
- 1:59:23Speaker 1: One's been up in arms for the better part of
- 1:59:25Speaker 1: a year up in arms. Yes, okay, Yeah, I like Sony.
- 1:59:31Speaker 1: I like Sony when he was here, and I like
- 1:59:32Speaker 1: him now. You know, I stick with it. I don't
- 1:59:35Speaker 1: change my tune after she usually Yes, you do usually
- 1:59:39Speaker 1: when they're not. I didn't, you don't here. And I
- 1:59:41Speaker 1: don't think he did anything for the Rams. I've not
- 1:59:43Speaker 1: changed my team. He helped the Rams, he did, No,
- 1:59:46Speaker 1: he didn't, he did, ask asked the Rams. Yeah, we'll
- 1:59:51Speaker 1: see what the Rams think. They'll have an opportunity to
- 1:59:53Speaker 1: retain them. We'll see what they do. Well. Dude's gonna
- 1:59:57Speaker 1: get his second Super Bowl ring though. Yeah, sure is
- 2:00:00Speaker 1: good for him. It's delicious. Ever hear that coin of
