- 0:00Speaker 1: Come on you.
- 0:03Speaker 2: Uh huh, I sure will come on. And everybody you
- 0:07Speaker 2: are listening to the voice, oh, come on, dig me now,
- 0:10Speaker 2: one and only Steve Harvey. Man got a radio show,
- 0:15Speaker 2: borl borl boy. I can't even tell you, man. I've
- 0:21Speaker 2: been doing some thinking and and one of the things
- 0:25Speaker 2: that I wanted to mention today to you as one
- 0:28Speaker 2: of the principles of success, being grateful at all times
- 0:36Speaker 2: is difficult to do. Being grateful at all times is
- 0:44Speaker 2: very difficult to do. I find that to be true
- 0:48Speaker 2: with myself. Now there are others that might be able
- 0:51Speaker 2: to do it, but just from talking and listening and
- 0:55Speaker 2: living and learning, being grateful at all times is difficult
- 1:00Speaker 2: to do.
- 1:01Speaker 1: But it's necessary because it's such an act of faith
- 1:07Speaker 1: in knowing that no matter what's going on, it's going
- 1:11Speaker 1: to be alright. And it's hard to see that when
- 1:16Speaker 1: things are not going in your favor, when things have
- 1:20Speaker 1: turned so dramatically the other way, and it seems as
- 1:24Speaker 1: though you're the only one in the situation where you're
- 1:28Speaker 1: involved with other people, or someone got an accusation against
- 1:32Speaker 1: you falsely, or somebody trying to do something to you unjustifiably,
- 1:36Speaker 1: whatever the case, may be when it's happening to you,
- 1:40Speaker 1: it does appear to you that, oh, my goodness, man,
- 1:46Speaker 1: this is horribly one sided. So it is difficult. It's
- 1:51Speaker 1: hard to do to be grateful at all times, but
- 1:54Speaker 1: it's so necessary. And I just want to point out
- 1:58Speaker 1: a couple of things to you. First of all, the
- 2:02Speaker 1: difficulty in being grateful in hard times is that number one,
- 2:08Speaker 1: the present circumstances. Oftentimes it's just so pressing and so
- 2:13Speaker 1: overwhelming that a lot of your energy is devoted to
- 2:17Speaker 1: trying to come up with the solution for that, or
- 2:20Speaker 1: trying to muster the strength to whether the storm, or
- 2:23Speaker 1: trying to just brace yourself to try to get through it,
- 2:27Speaker 1: and in doing that, you don't. It's hard to be grateful.
- 2:32Speaker 1: It's hard to be grateful in pain, and I know
- 2:36Speaker 1: it is. But here is the trick for me. This
- 2:40Speaker 1: is what I've had to learn how to do, and
- 2:44Speaker 1: I guess it takes practice to get here. It's not
- 2:47Speaker 1: nothing you just start doing right away. You got to
- 2:50Speaker 1: practice it in small increments to really get it. What
- 2:53Speaker 1: I've always had to say to myself, and what I've
- 2:55Speaker 1: learned to say to myself is this is happening to
- 2:59Speaker 1: me because God is working me through something. This is
- 3:04Speaker 1: happening to me because it's some form of tests that
- 3:08Speaker 1: I have to pass in order to graduate to the
- 3:11Speaker 1: next grade, and that in order to be allowed to
- 3:14Speaker 1: move to the next level. This is happening to me
- 3:19Speaker 1: because there's something I need to purge my life, of
- 3:23Speaker 1: my body, of my spirit, of something's purging in me.
- 3:28Speaker 1: And when you purge something, it's it's painful. You know,
- 3:32Speaker 1: It's like a person getting off drugs. The withdrawal is agonizing.
- 3:37Speaker 1: I've been told and every documentary I've ever watched it
- 3:41Speaker 1: it's an agonizing process to go cold turkey, to withdraw,
- 3:46Speaker 1: to pull away after you've been doing something so long.
- 3:50Speaker 1: And so I know that this process is tough when
- 3:55Speaker 1: you're going through some pain. But when you're purging your system,
- 4:01Speaker 1: when you're when you're when you're having to pass a test,
- 4:04Speaker 1: when you're about to make when when you're being made
- 4:08Speaker 1: ready for the next level, that moment right in there,
- 4:12Speaker 1: in realizing that that's what's happening, that's where you find
- 4:16Speaker 1: the gratitude. That's where I found the gratitude. I hope
- 4:20Speaker 1: I'm explaining this correctly. I'm gonna keep trying until I
- 4:23Speaker 1: get it. But that's where you find the gratitude. The
- 4:28Speaker 1: second part of it is is that God has never
- 4:33Speaker 1: left me in all the things I've done, in all
- 4:36Speaker 1: the mistakes I've made, all the lies I've told, all
- 4:41Speaker 1: the situations I've gotten myself into from being greedy and
- 4:46Speaker 1: wanting too much for me at the expense sometimes of
- 4:52Speaker 1: other people, not doing it deliberately or in a vindictive way,
- 4:58Speaker 1: because I've never had that. I'm not a vindictive or
- 5:02Speaker 1: mean person, but sometimes in my life, in wanting to
- 5:07Speaker 1: do what I wanted to do, I didn't totally weigh
- 5:11Speaker 1: out the cause and effect of the other person. I mean,
- 5:14Speaker 1: can I just be real with you with that? I mean,
- 5:17Speaker 1: how many times we'dn all done that? Look, it doesn't
- 5:19Speaker 1: It don't make you a bad person. You know, good
- 5:23Speaker 1: people do bad things all the time. I just happened
- 5:27Speaker 1: to have come to the realization that unknowingly and and
- 5:32Speaker 1: not and not with malice intent towards a person, I've
- 5:39Speaker 1: hurt people looking at something I wanted to do without
- 5:44Speaker 1: really looking at what the cause and effect would be
- 5:47Speaker 1: on the other person. So in doing some of these things,
- 5:51Speaker 1: I've created situations for myself. But God, through his grace
- 5:56Speaker 1: and mercy, has allowed me to even get beyond that.
- 6:00Speaker 1: So what I'm saying that God has never left me
- 6:03Speaker 1: in spite of myself. He's always gotten me through. So
- 6:07Speaker 1: that's the other part of it too. See that no
- 6:10Speaker 1: matter what you're going through, you've got to understand that
- 6:13Speaker 1: God has always gotten you through it now has any
- 6:16Speaker 1: Now that may not be the way you want it
- 6:18Speaker 1: or the way you liked, But guess what, you can't
- 6:21Speaker 1: do wrong and not pay for that. Now that that's
- 6:24Speaker 1: not how this works. That's never going to be the case.
- 6:27Speaker 1: But the great thing about God is he fires warning
- 6:30Speaker 1: shots at us all the time. He gives us an
- 6:32Speaker 1: opportunity to stop. You know, He don't fully punish us
- 6:36Speaker 1: right away every time we do something wrong. Now does it?
- 6:40Speaker 1: You know eventually you're going to get caught doing whatever
- 6:43Speaker 1: it is you're doing. You do understand that, don't you.
- 6:46Speaker 1: But the first time, that close call, that was a
- 6:49Speaker 1: warning shot for you to stop. Look, I know you're
- 6:52Speaker 1: not perfect. I know we all sinners down here, so
- 6:55Speaker 1: I know you're gonna make mistakes. One time, I know
- 6:57Speaker 1: you was looking at her when you weren't supposed to.
- 6:59Speaker 1: I know you said something to him when you wasn't
- 7:01Speaker 1: supposed to. I know you got with her when you
- 7:04Speaker 1: know you wasn't supposed to. And I know you got
- 7:07Speaker 1: with him when you know you weren't supposed to. So
- 7:09Speaker 1: I tell you what I'm gonna do. I'm a fire
- 7:10Speaker 1: warning shot. And maybe you'll slow your roll this time.
- 7:14Speaker 1: But we keep on though. See see, see that's what happens.
- 7:17Speaker 1: See we just keep on and then the next thing,
- 7:20Speaker 1: you know, we get caught. Now, Oh Lord, have mercy.
- 7:23Speaker 1: I won't out of this. Yeah, well see you done
- 7:26Speaker 1: dug this hole pretty deep and he gonna get you out.
- 7:29Speaker 1: But it's some things that's got to go down now
- 7:32Speaker 1: because you didn't pay attention to the warning shot. See,
- 7:35Speaker 1: had you stopped the first time, you felt bad about
- 7:37Speaker 1: it and said you wasn't gonna do it no more,
- 7:39Speaker 1: the situation wouldn't be as critical. But because we don't stop,
- 7:43Speaker 1: and we go again. But God always forgives, He always
- 7:49Speaker 1: allows us to get back up again. He always gives
- 7:53Speaker 1: us mercy, He always gives us his grace, He always
- 7:58Speaker 1: does that. It is The Steve Harvey Morning Show
