- 0:04So much to discuss. And quite frankly, late night show, it's going
- 0:09to get weird. We're the regulars. You're amongst friends. Grab your drink,
- 0:12enjoy your night, and this is going to be a shit show. I haven't even
- 0:16started drinking and it's past 8 p.m. This might be the most
- 0:20clearheaded I ever am. I hope you guys enjoy it.
- 0:29Yeah, I'm gonna talk a little, talk a little more central tonight
- 0:33because late night here in Los Angeles, California. By the way, 8 PM
- 0:38show. We've never done this this late. I can only imagine how you people on
- 0:41the East Coast are feeling right now. Welcome to the show. I don't even know
- 0:43if anybody from the East Coast is going to show up. Probably not. This is
- 0:45going to— this is probably our worst live show, but I don't care. The ones
- 0:48that actually showed up, welcome to the show. Thank you so much for joining us.
- 0:51Um, just get into it real quick. The reason why we're going a little late
- 0:55tonight is because tonight, um, it is, um, homecoming weekend for UCLA.
- 0:58So I went to a UCLA alumni event, uh, where I got to kind
- 1:03of hobnob it up with a bunch of, uh, ex-athletes that are doing things in
- 1:06the sports world and just the world in general. And, uh, tomorrow for the UCLA
- 1:10game, homecoming against Michigan State, uh, of which I will be at.
- 1:13Oh, that's right. I will— I will not. Would you like to go? No.
- 1:17I can get you a ticket. I know you can. And I actually— I actually
- 1:20do want to go, and you have offered. However, The plans I have late
- 1:24night mean that I actually have to do nothing else during the day. Otherwise I
- 1:27won't make it through. Well, you're the worst. You're the fucking worst. You're a bad
- 1:30friend. What are you gonna do? Guys, welcome to the show. And listen, we got
- 1:33a lot to talk about, but Tanya, get the energy up. Doesn't mean just because
- 1:36it's late night, oh, doesn't mean you get to just be like sultry. I'm just—
- 1:40you just opened it by like, I have sexy talk. I have the voice.
- 1:44You think I don't? You think I can't do the whole show? I'm like,
- 1:48Two for Tuesdays, welcome. We got, we got cinnamon coming to the show. We got
- 1:52cinnamon, cinnamon coming on the stage. Don't do that.
- 1:56Pour some sugar on me. Yeah, who needs— I'll bring the energy up if this—
- 1:59if it'll stop this. All right, do we agree?
- 2:02Okay, prove it, prove it, because I will— I will speak like a fucking
- 2:06DJ at a strip club for the rest of the show. We're about to talk
- 2:09shit about the Patriots. Oh my God, I'm so excited! Talking shit about the Patriots
- 2:13is one of my favorite fucking things. But also, we're going to talk about this
- 2:16game later, and we're both going to get really mad. Which one? Uh,
- 2:20about specifically the Patriots and Yeah. Is this in headlines? This is—
- 2:23this is— well, it was last night. I thought— I just think the thing we're
- 2:27gonna get mad at is going to be in media quarter. Is it? Yes,
- 2:29yes, yes. Okay. Yeah, yeah. Thank you. Thank you. Yeah. So this is just—
- 2:33we're starting out with just ball. We save the really angry stuff for later in
- 2:37the show so people stick around. Um, but yeah, we're gonna
- 2:41kick things off with Thursday Night Football because it was a good game. It was
- 2:44a sort of a sloppy game, but it was a good game. It was.
- 2:47So I feel like it's worth talking about. Do you want to hit our 2
- 2:50box or what do you think? I would like to
- 2:55hit our 2 box. Hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on, hold on,
- 2:57hold on. I forgot. Keep in mind, Mocha is not here and I'm
- 3:01doing this all on my own. We normally just have the guy that just does
- 3:04headlines. Headline number 1, Tanya. We had a Thursday
- 3:07Night Football game. We did. Between the Bears and the Patriots. 2 good teams.
- 3:11It was the Drake Maye-Caleb Williams Bowl.
- 3:15Obviously 2 top picks in the draft a
- 3:18couple of years ago, 2024. Who's going to be the better one? We always
- 3:22want to know. They're both excellent. You know,
- 3:25each one has their flaws. But I think that as time has gone
- 3:29on, Caleb has really started to pull away from Drake Maye just because
- 3:33of the improvements we've seen and somewhat of a regression we've seen up
- 3:37and down from Drake. Here's the thing.
- 3:40It was a good game. It was like Chicago struck first, Patriots come
- 3:44back, ill-timed turnover by Drake
- 3:48Maye, which I think that— I mean, I don't know if I did— I text
- 3:51you about the, the turnover, the end zone interception? I,
- 3:55I put in here that this was Drake Maye's 3rd interception on a pass thrown
- 3:59to the end zone this season. No other NFL QB has more than one such
- 4:02touched, uh, interception this season. Seems like he's done it 3 times.
- 4:06Like, that's We're getting to a point where this is like a,
- 4:09like choke in the red, in the red zone situation. Yeah, he's, um, been fucking
- 4:13awful in the red zone this season. It's, it's, it's— and by the way,
- 4:16that, that interception in the red zone early in the game, like, you, you text
- 4:20me immediately and I started laughing. Um, it was a fucking god-awful fucking
- 4:24pass. It's— that's the thing is like, this isn't like, oh, it was tipped,
- 4:27or he threw it like he threw a jump ball and just went the other
- 4:30way. This was— you had no idea. He threw a screen pass
- 4:34to a fucking— yeah, the other team. Like, you, you should have— like,
- 4:38professional quarterbacks don't throw that interception. Occasionally they might,
- 4:42every few years. He's done it more than once in the last couple.
- 4:46Um, here's the thing. Oh,
- 4:49I'm already breaking stuff. Oh, it's the empty tequila bottle.
- 4:53We have a lot of alcohol underneath our feet. Uh, here's the thing,
- 4:56responsible journalists. I'm not even drunk. There's no explanation for this.
- 5:00Um, The game came down to a
- 5:05mistake by Caleb Williams and then a made-up call by Ben
- 5:10Johnson. Dude, like badass. Like, like truly, I don't know.
- 5:13There's no other way to say it. It was badass. Like Caleb
- 5:17made a fucking mistake. But to Caleb's credit, if you really watch that play,
- 5:20he had nowhere to go. Like, he had to throw it away and he had
- 5:23to throw it away quick. It would have been nice for him to make that
- 5:25choice again. Like there's like 4 quarterbacks in the NFL that like are
- 5:29smart enough to make the choice quickly. Um, here's what I loved about Ben Johnson,
- 5:33and it's why I think he's the real winner of the game. I don't like,
- 5:36you know, we learned about a lot about, you know, Caleb. We, we continue to—
- 5:40Drake still looks like early stage Josh Allen. That's what we
- 5:44look— what he looks like. Yes, he does. But what we really learned was Ben
- 5:46Johnson is not only like, you know,
- 5:50willing to coach his ass off against a pretty good defense,
- 5:53but he's willing to step up and take the— make the hard decision and play
- 5:57to win the game. Um, playing to win the game is a very specific
- 6:01thing, right? You could have played not to lose there, try to
- 6:05see if your defense could do something against Drake Maye. His— this was
- 6:09Cairo Santos' longest field goal. He'd never made anything past 55. Made 58.
- 6:13It was awesome. He made 58. And by the way, plenty more room. It would
- 6:17have been good from 62. Yeah. Um, and here's the thing, Ben Johnson in
- 6:21that moment had a choice because Caleb Williams looked distraught
- 6:24after that play. Like, he knew what he had just done. Yeah, he fucked up.
- 6:27Handed it off to an offense that was perfectly capable of scoring in that spot,
- 6:31and he was like really fucked up. And Ben Johnson looked at the situation— this
- 6:36is what I think he did— and said, I have an option. I have an
- 6:38opportunity to take this game into my hands, take it off Caleb Williams, because if
- 6:41Cairo doesn't make this kick, no one blames Caleb,
- 6:45blames Cairo. They blame— it's all on Ben Johnson,
- 6:48right? Because you're not going to blame the kicker for not making a kick he's
- 6:51never made. Yep. So he said, if this— if we're going down, I'm going down.
- 6:55I'm going down with the ship. It's going to be me that takes the blame.
- 6:59And instead, he walked off with the glory because he sealed the game. And I
- 7:03just loved it. It just seemed like the decision of a coach who's ready
- 7:07to win a fucking title. Dude, it was awesome. And that does not mean that
- 7:11they're going to. There's flaws on this team, specifically defensively.
- 7:14But like, oh my God, I just really liked it because
- 7:18I really felt like it was designed to protect the rest
- 7:22of his team and say like, fuck it, like we're in, they can beat us,
- 7:26dude, but not if we make this kick. I just loved it. I fucking loved
- 7:29everything about it. Yeah, I mean that from the bottom of my heart. I fucking
- 7:31loved it. I even loved like the, the New England drive afterwards to get
- 7:35that field goal as quickly as they can. Yeah, to kind of like everything about
- 7:38this is fucking perfect. We got it. By the way, you just experienced this in
- 7:41the Raiders game last week. We got to do something about something about the onside
- 7:45kick. There's just no chance. It's, it's, it's a zero-sum game. We have to.
- 7:48It fucking sucks. It's gotta— something's got— I actually like the high kick
- 7:52thing because at least that seems like it can cause some chaos. But we've really
- 7:56only seen one so far. No, and I— it didn't do it. I want to
- 7:59do that. I really want them to test out that proposal where you basically get
- 8:03like— it's like a 1-down, 25, 20-yard connection,
- 8:06something like that. Would be some sort of like you get one chance to do
- 8:10a conversion. That would be sweet because you're right, the onside kick just at this
- 8:13point really sucks. Yeah, it just sucks. I don't like it. Um, and but this
- 8:17was— I'm with you on everything about Ben Johnson specifically. Yeah.
- 8:20Um, the aspect that he had the balls to fucking
- 8:24go out and do that, and I, I just— I liked it.
- 8:27Everything about it was just like, as an ex-athlete, like seeing a head coach
- 8:31like, you got your guys, like, no, fuck it,
- 8:35if I'm gonna go down, I'm going down with my fucking guys. Yeah. And I
- 8:38just— everything about it, he trusted his kicker to fucking get it done and it
- 8:42didn't get it done, he trusted his defense to fucking stop it. Everything about this
- 8:46I just dug. It made me go like, Ben Johnson's the fucking real deal.
- 8:49The locker room afterward made it very clear they also agree. And that's just—
- 8:52it's a great recipe for success. Like, you know, it's the kind of the—
- 8:56it's the kind of stuff we saw from Dan Campbell early on. And actually,
- 9:00it's exactly what I thought at the time. Fully follow through on that, because we've
- 9:04talked about— I think their window's closed. But Caleb is built different.
- 9:08He's, he's not Jared Goff. So I was really excited to see that.
- 9:12Um, down's the cap, man. Here we go. Uh,
- 9:17the, the schedule coming up, we're gonna just do like a couple, just talking about
- 9:21the week ahead. I'm listening, I'm all ears, baby.
- 9:24We've got, you know, I'm not gonna go through every single game, but some highlights
- 9:28that I am interested in. Niners at Falcons. Last week
- 9:32I predicted that the Commanders were a trap game for the Niners. This is
- 9:35the trap game. This— and, and they nearly were, so to my credit.
- 9:39But this is it. But, um, I also like— it does, it does require
- 9:44a little bit of stepping up on the defense's end of things. Well, I think,
- 9:47I think the Niners are kind of screwed in this particular scenario because officially
- 9:51Mike Evans is out. Um, okay, so there it is,
- 9:55there it is. That's, that's the thing that we always talk about with the Niners
- 9:58where it's like, is this potentially the turning point? Do you win this game without
- 10:02Mike Evans? No. Because if you do, I think you're— if you do
- 10:05now, if I'm a betting man, I bet on you to go to the Super
- 10:08Bowl. 100%, right? 100%. I, I quit on everything else.
- 10:11This team's a Super Bowl— this team's a Super Bowl-winning team if they win this
- 10:16game against Mike Evans. Because without Mike Evans— without Mike Evans— because you got Penix
- 10:19Jr. out there. Listen, you and I both really like this,
- 10:22this fucking Atlanta Falcons team, especially with Mike Penix underneath the— America
- 10:27likes this team, I think. Dude, like, they're fucking fun. When Michael
- 10:30Penix Jr. is under center, like, this is a really fun team. They really are.
- 10:34The B. Robinsons are fun. Oh, the B. Robinsons. We love them. Very slow
- 10:38Drake London. Fucking Drake London, who has
- 10:41been playing like, like he's running in gravy for like 5
- 10:45years, but always catches, but catches everything. He just
- 10:49will move slowly to do it. By the way, tight ends, man.
- 10:52Tight ends this year. I'm just going to say. Yeah. I mean, I know Drake
- 10:56London's a wide receiver, but he's a tight end, really. But like, I was thinking
- 10:59about Coastal Loveland last night, and as Hunter Henry, as you do,
- 11:03you know, like these— I think about Hunter Henry in those late nights as well.
- 11:05But they're always like, they're the, they're the thing that's
- 11:09coming through on like every team. We're like in a weird like tight end,
- 11:12but it's weird like wide receivers. But, but partially I think because all the
- 11:17wide receivers are all breaking all of a sudden. Like look at the Rams,
- 11:19Puka's out this weekend, fucking Davante Adams is gone forever.
- 11:23Like just everybody's hurt. And it seems like the game is like
- 11:26switching back to the running back game and the tight end game. Running backs and
- 11:30tight ends. I mean, Isaiah Likely is fucking nuts. Obviously Bowers and
- 11:33Trey McBride. And by the way, I know you're not a Mike
- 11:37Mayer guy, but like Mayer on the side, he's been great. He's been fucking
- 11:40monster. The rookie tight end on the Patriots also. Yes.
- 11:44Like, really? I don't— it's just all the tight ends are good.
- 11:47This is always like a development thing from high school into college.
- 11:50Like there's just certain positional groups that hit all at the same time for lots
- 11:54of reasons. But I just wanted to say that I really like that,
- 11:57um, and it's, it's making the season more exciting because we're getting some stuff
- 12:01we haven't seen in a minute. Uh, meanwhile, by the way, Lamar Jackson still
- 12:04just has Mark Andrews, which is so depressing. There's like 90 good tight
- 12:08ends now and he's like— except, are we getting Lamar this week? Are we getting
- 12:11Lamar this week? We'll talk about it. Um, next game, Bengals at Ravens.
- 12:14Yes. So, uh, we still don't know. He's practicing. I saw that
- 12:18he practiced, but like, they're, they're very, very cagey about it. They're being very cagey
- 12:22about it, um, probably because it's a divisional game, so they're going to do it
- 12:25as long as they can get away with it. They want the Bengals to have
- 12:28to prepare for either quarterback, which does actually require separate preparation,
- 12:31puts more stress on their scout QB. Lamar Jackson, even though
- 12:35Snoop Huntley is a fucking really good quarterback, like, once Lamar Jackson— exactly.
- 12:39Um, and it's a big game, like Bengals-Ravens is a big deal game. It's one
- 12:43of the marquee games of the day. Um, he's listed as questionable. We don't
- 12:47know. I still have a ton of questions about
- 12:51the Bengals defense, as does everybody else. Um, so they
- 12:55get a huge break if it's not Lamar. I,
- 13:00I think that the like Joe Burrow versus Lamar of it would be much more
- 13:03interesting than anything else we could get. We've been robbed of some pretty good matchups
- 13:07between Lamar and other quarterbacks. So, um, by the way, while we're on
- 13:11the Bengals of it all, have you seen The whole thing with the Bengals,
- 13:14like, cold shouldering J.D. Vance. Mm-hmm.
- 13:18So the internet has been, like, blowing up about this. Very great
- 13:22video. Love to see it. Fucking amazing. Walking by him, right? By the way,
- 13:25in case you— in case you don't know this, J.D. Vance sucks
- 13:29in every, like, conceivable metric.
- 13:32Like, all of them. Who do you think in our audience doesn't know that?
- 13:36No, no, but I just want to be on the record for it because I
- 13:39don't think I've ever actually said anything about J.D. Vance. JD Vance is like
- 13:44the idea of like— like JD Vance seems like a 13-year-old
- 13:48who's really into Magic: The Gathering, okay? And he
- 13:52thinks like he's gotten one up on everybody,
- 13:55but like he is— he's the whipping boy and he doesn't know
- 13:59it. And it's fucking funny because the last guy in his position,
- 14:03like the guy ahead of him, tried to get him hung,
- 14:06literally. Trump tried to get Pence hung. Yes. Yeah.
- 14:09So the last guy in his position tried to get him hanged. Actually,
- 14:13he's actually the word. He was hanged. He was. Well, they certainly
- 14:17hanged him in effigy. So they did. So with that, this one who
- 14:21is a clown is— it's just been really fun
- 14:25to watch. So it's sort of to that point, J.D.,
- 14:29people who like Trump or MAGA don't necessarily like J.D. Vance. No.
- 14:33And so he's a douchebag. I don't take this as like the Bengals being
- 14:36woke. Like, they just don't like J.D. Vance. Like, J.D.
- 14:39Vance is annoying and like whatever. The Bengals aren't woke.
- 14:43They're just annoyed by J.D. Vance. I still liked it.
- 14:47Here's the thing. So there's that, that whole, um,
- 14:50there's that whole Joe Burrow being like, we, you know, they left
- 14:54with swiftness and effectiveness or whatever the fuck he said. And like,
- 14:57was like, I don't mind. I don't blame people for wanting to come watch us.
- 15:00We're great. Like, Whatever he's— it was like a bizarre thing, but it made no
- 15:04sense. But I liked it. Some people really loved it, right? So we were like,
- 15:07I didn't know I had to ride with Joe Burrow, but I guess I do.
- 15:09And I was like, oh, oh, we're just acting like he has
- 15:13not met with and shook the hand of Trump several
- 15:18times, multiple times at UFC events. Yeah, this is— he just doesn't like JD
- 15:23Vance, guys, because no one likes JD Vance. Perfectly fine to be— I— even if
- 15:27he doesn't vote MAGA, even if he doesn't vote at all, he's perfectly fine to
- 15:30be MAGA adjacent. He's out there with Joey Bosa and fucking— or Nick Bosa and
- 15:34Trump, and he's shaking his hand multiple times at UFC events. Dana White, by the
- 15:38way. Like, this guy's not— stop casting these. I don't need you to hate him.
- 15:41I agree. I just— stop casting these guys as heroes. I agree. But can we
- 15:45just enjoy JD Vance looking like a little bitch? That's not what
- 15:49people are doing though. Just enjoy that. Yeah, I am. But all I'm seeing is
- 15:53people being like Joey Burrow. Oh, knock that shit off.
- 15:57It's like, no, no, no, I'm just happy to see a little fucking
- 16:01twerp exactly being treated like a little twerp that he deserves. And that's
- 16:05the thing is like when you want to be adjacent to the cool kids,
- 16:07you better be cool. And the cool kids think
- 16:11Trump is cool, but they do not think— not even a fucking little— you're a
- 16:14fucking twerp. Um, Broncos at Cardinals, trap game.
- 16:18I'm gonna say trap game every time someone plays the Cardinals now. Wait, but the
- 16:22Broncos aren't good. They're not good. Their record says they're good, but they're
- 16:25not good. Their defense is great. Defense is good. Their defense is fucking great.
- 16:29But their offense is dogshit and they have Bo Nix. Their defense is great,
- 16:33but their offense has Bo Nix. And here's the thing, but their offense has
- 16:37Bo Nix. The Cardinals have my boy
- 16:41Jacoby Brissett, who we love, who can win a game without scoring a touchdown,
- 16:44but not against this defense. By the way, their kicker, the Cardinals kicker, is the
- 16:49kicker that Belichick drafted in like his last year as the head coach that
- 16:53they like let go. Really? And he's so good, and I'm like, why is he
- 16:56their kicker now? God damn it. Whoops. Um, I know. That being
- 16:59said, uh, I do actually think— I don't think it's true. I do think—
- 17:03do you think so? I, I don't know. I got the Broncos in this one.
- 17:05How dumb are you? For what reason? Very dumb. Well, for what you just said.
- 17:10The defense. I think their defense is gonna stop them. Yes. Yeah, but their
- 17:14offense has Bo Nix. That is a problem. That is a— I'll
- 17:19admit that is a problem. I didn't say my, my argument was flawless.
- 17:23That's a problem. Um, the, the next best game of the week is probably
- 17:26Packers at Lions. And, um, one— I,
- 17:29I am once again asking you, Cody, how the fuck am I supposed to know?
- 17:32I'm going Detroit Lions. I cannot believe Jordan Love is going to do
- 17:36this 3 times in a row. Okay, I just— I firmly believe the Lions are
- 17:39actually just playing the odds. I'm going. Yes, that's what I'm doing. I think the
- 17:44Lions are going to beat the fuck out of the Green Bay Packers. I think
- 17:46they're going to beat them by 10 points. I like Late Night Cody because you're
- 17:49making hard predictions. Hard fucking hard predictions.
- 17:54Late Night Cody's a different beast. That's, that's great.
- 17:58Hold on, hold on. Fucking 10 points.
- 18:02The listeners are really missing out. You guys don't know. Yeah,
- 18:06they have. You guys don't know what Late Night Cody is capable of. This is
- 18:08why you have to watch the regular show. This is the sexy show. Yeah,
- 18:11you know what I'm saying? Also, however we have the, um, cameras, you look so
- 18:15small compared to me. So just— you made us do this.
- 18:18I didn't, I didn't line up your camera. Literally, no, I literally like— here.
- 18:23Okay, fine. No, no, I'm kidding. No, no, no, no, cuz I can do it
- 18:25right here. But look how much smaller you look than me. It's so funny.
- 18:29Not anymore, not anymore. I'm going to fucking look huge.
- 18:32I'm going to look fucking huge now. He's just my little guy.
- 18:35Don't That's just my little guy.
- 18:40Oh, stop it. This is ridiculous.
- 18:44Um, Cody? Yes?
- 18:48It's so close to your face. I can see the glare on your head.
- 18:52Fucking don't do that. Wait, why? Do you think that
- 18:55the Raiders are gonna beat the Rams? That's what I'm sensitive about. Uh,
- 18:58yes, you do. I do, actually, I do. And by
- 19:02the way, I thought this before the Puka Nacua news. Um, but now I 100%—
- 19:05because here's the thing, um, the Raiders have flaws. Like, obviously they're 3-3,
- 19:09uh, but the, the things that are good about the Raiders are really good.
- 19:12The things that are bad about the Raiders are just like, oh, their defense,
- 19:16their secondary defense, uh, their pass rush defense.
- 19:19Um, they, they get a lot of sacks, but they also don't get
- 19:23to the quarterback very fast. They actually get to the quarterback at like 4.1 seconds.
- 19:26They're like, like, it's like 0.5 later than every other team.
- 19:29Yeah, wait, that's so slow. I know, it's fucking very slow. It's a
- 19:34problem. I, I'm saying the problems of the team. Yeah, yeah, God, Dick,
- 19:37I'm saying the bad things about my team that I love so fucking much.
- 19:40Yeah, but, um, their offense is fucking phenomenal,
- 19:44and the run— the run game's not even good, but they're like— the pass game's
- 19:47amazing. Uh, Kirk Cousins is utilizing both Brock Bowers and Mayer so unbelievably well.
- 19:51Kubiak is gonna figure out a way to scheme for Gente. I like— I
- 19:55do. I think so too. He just needs to figure it out. Same, same.
- 19:57But Because currently Matthew
- 20:01Stafford literally has no one to fucking throw the ball to at
- 20:05this point. Puka and Davante, Davante, and he doesn't have Ferguson
- 20:09either. I'm calling him DeAndre Hopkins. I don't know. Davante Adams,
- 20:12Puka Nacua, and Ferguson, all 3 are out.
- 20:15Like, those are his 3 main targets. Like, he has nothing.
- 20:19And the Rams are playing some— they're paying some sort
- 20:22of curse. There's their fucking— they don't have a kicker. Something's wrong. They don't have
- 20:26a kicker. They're fucking without Miles Garrett. We still don't have any fucking semblance
- 20:30of when he's coming back. It was supposed to be 5 weeks. Something's up.
- 20:32Yeah. Um, all right, I like this. I agree. So I agree, I think the
- 20:36Raiders are winning this game. Yeah, I— at the very least, the Raiders have no
- 20:39excuse to lose it. True. So how about we say it that way? That's,
- 20:42that's it. Here's a— it's not a litmus test, but like, if you want
- 20:46to prove to me that you are a bubble team, you're a real team that
- 20:48can maybe be a playoff team, you have to win this game. All right.
- 20:51By the way, the Rams have to win this game. And oh, and well,
- 20:55that's the thing is like, I there's, there's one of those things where it's like,
- 20:57why would they win this game? What, what about them would win this game?
- 21:00I know. No, no, I'm with you. You know, I'm with you wholeheartedly.
- 21:03So like, what unit is going to do it for them? Um,
- 21:07on the flip side, 2 teams that I do think, um,
- 21:11are definite playoff contenders are the Chiefs and the Seahawks. So the Chiefs
- 21:15are going to Seattle, and this is really the, the Kansas
- 21:19City's rushing attack versus Seattle's run defense. This is a cool
- 21:22year for the Chiefs where the star of the show is really not
- 21:26Patrick Mahomes. No, it's not. But he's still going to fucking do his thing.
- 21:30Yes, he's the steady force. He's— and he's the driving force of the offense still.
- 21:33But what is actually the motor? It's Kenneth Walker Jr.
- 21:38III. And he is obviously— was
- 21:42on the Revenge Game, baby. Revenge Game, baby. This is a
- 21:46fun revenge game. And he don't want to give me the bag. Oh,
- 21:50he leads the NFL with 665 rushing yards through 6 games, averaging 6.3
- 21:55yards per carry. Um, Seattle has only allowed 3 to 5 yard
- 21:59averages per rush and has gone 35 games without allowing an individual 100-yard
- 22:04rusher. Yeah, um, they have a great rushing defense, so what a perfect matchup.
- 22:08Yeah, you know, um, really good, really good game.
- 22:11That's a Sunday night game, right? Good game. So I think that's a Sunday night
- 22:14game. It is. Monday night game, oof,
- 22:17not great, guys. Not great, not great, Bob.
- 22:20I'm not even positive, like I know I have to take it and watch it.
- 22:24Like, I know I have— oh, I'm watching it. I have a morbid curiosity to
- 22:28watch it. But they— by the way, NFL really thought they had a winner before
- 22:32the season on this one. They always do. They throw the fucking— I don't know
- 22:35why, but this is so bad. This is, this is really bad.
- 22:39The weekly NFC East game on primetime is not good, right? Just think
- 22:43of the— I hope they tie. I— because I know the Giants aren't winning and
- 22:46the Commanders are off, so it could be 3 weeks in a row. We could—
- 22:49what if This is the game where someone forfeits.
- 22:52I'm just saying, let's get something even
- 22:56better. Cowboy, by the way, in case you don't know what we're talking about,
- 22:58Cowboys versus the Eagles. Yeah, this Cowboys
- 23:02versus this Eagles. Yeah, the Eagles, I'm not positive, are still a team.
- 23:06I— without Jalen Hurts, it just like— it's pretty wild.
- 23:09They have 2 wins because of Jalen. If you never like thought
- 23:13that Jalen was like the reason that anybody watched the team to begin with,
- 23:17sure does feel like it now. Boy oh boy, are you
- 23:21all going to appreciate Jalen Hurts after this? Yeah, you really—
- 23:25every Eagle fan should fucking— should have like an identity crisis
- 23:30after this. I will say Nick Sirianni is coaching for his life,
- 23:34dude. Even if they— I don't think they fucking hung his ass out to dry.
- 23:36I don't think Howie Roseman is going to keep him after this year because he's
- 23:40a nefarious psycho. Howie Roseman hung his ass out to dry is what
- 23:45Yeah, but I do think Nick Sirianni has a pretty solid case to get a
- 23:49head coaching job somewhere else. So he's still coaching for his life, whether it's for
- 23:52the Eagles or someone else. I'm intrigued to see if he can pull something out
- 23:55of his ass. He's not exactly known as a, like a, a game, a game
- 23:58manager, as a game guy. He's a, he's a culture guy. He's certainly
- 24:02a leader of men. But yeah, so that's,
- 24:06that's really it. Any thoughts? It's just a big woof for Monday Night Football.
- 24:10Any thoughts left over before we head on,
- 24:13move on from NFL? No, listen, I'm excited for the
- 24:17weekend. We got some great games that we're looking forward to and some shit games,
- 24:20mainly Monday night. Monday night's a really— it's all leading up to a
- 24:24sort of like must-watch train wreck. Yeah.
- 24:27Yeah, it's a dog, but I'm going to watch this fucking dog.
- 24:31We are going to debut in headline number 2, the very first
- 24:35NBA conversation that we have had in,
- 24:39in months since we're back. Finals, since the Knicks fucking back.
- 24:43We're back. By the way, Knicks are so fucked. I can't wait to talk about
- 24:46that. Uh, yeah, Knicks lost to the Celtics tonight. Oh, I wasn't talking about that.
- 24:49I was talking about Jimmy Dolan fucking sending fake fucking rings to people. Tatum,
- 24:53Tatum got their asses at the end of the game today. Um, that thing
- 24:56was nuts. So we're— we— I, I don't have that in here, but we can
- 24:59talk about it. We can talk. Um, it'll be pop culture corner. Sure, that's a
- 25:03good idea. Um, the 76ers are the big story of the NBA season just a
- 25:05few games into the season. Yeah, um, they're fucking— it was sort of like
- 25:10inevitable that they would be the story by now. It was just a matter of
- 25:13are they going to look as good as they should look or are they going
- 25:15to like look like a train wreck? Nope, they look fucking sick.
- 25:20LeBron James looks like he's having more fun on this team playing
- 25:23basketball than he had— than he's had in 5 to 7
- 25:27years at the— like, I mean, truly, he like looks revived.
- 25:30So you know the thing I was worried about about with this team. Like,
- 25:33legitimately, the thing I was worried about— my favorite NBA player is Tyrese Maxey.
- 25:36I'm like, how is Tyrese Maxey gonna like fit
- 25:41in all of this like mountain of stars? Perfectly fine.
- 25:45Fine. Fucking fine. Because he's fucking Tyrese Maxey.
- 25:48You have to remember, Jaylen Brown is a guy who's used
- 25:52to having a 2-headed monster. He's used to being
- 25:55a part of like 1A, 1B. This shit's nuts. So it's really nuts.
- 25:59Last night, like, game 1 against the Knicks, I'm like, oh yeah, this This is
- 26:03real. The comeback. Game 2, I was like, fuck me,
- 26:06this is real. Philadelphia erased a 29-point deficit
- 26:11to beat the Cleveland Cavaliers 114 to 106. Tyrese Maxey
- 26:15scored 32 points while LeBron James contributed 17 points, 10 rebounds,
- 26:19and 5 assists. It was the largest comeback with the win in
- 26:22Sixers play-by-play era history.
- 26:26That's insane. That is for, for a team with this
- 26:30little chemistry so far to be able to do that. I mean,
- 26:33LeBron and Jaylen Brown are brand new to that fucking team.
- 26:37That's crazy. Crazy.
- 26:40We have Trump's criticism of LeBron, which is its own
- 26:44hilarious bullshit, by the way. Makes me root for Philadelphia
- 26:48even more. Right. So that— well, that's the thing is like now they've created this
- 26:51sort of like, oh, like now we're the enemy of, of everybody
- 26:56who hates Trump. So like, enemy of my enemy is my friend.
- 27:00Oh, so people who have any sort of, you know,
- 27:03anger toward Trump are gonna be like, well, fuck him, like, go LeBron,
- 27:07right? Go LeBron. Lots of LeBron haters, but you can't hate LeBron more than Trump.
- 27:11Um, here's the thing. In the
- 27:15PR wars between the Js, Jayson and
- 27:18Jaylen to be specific. Yeah. Jaylen Brown's coming out real good right
- 27:22now. Right now. Yeah. Let's talk about what happened. Jayson Tatum finally sat
- 27:26down and talked about his reaction to finding out that Jaylen Brown had been traded.
- 27:30And he sort of— he was essentially like,
- 27:34you know, my guy, my agent called me and was like, they traded him.
- 27:37And he was like, to where? And he was like, Philly. And,
- 27:41you know, Jaylen— Jayson Tatum goes, they traded him down the street.
- 27:46Now, All the conspiracy theories about Jayson Tatum,
- 27:49Jaylen Brown, their breakup, we've heard it a thousand times.
- 27:53He puts this out there, I'm like, hmm, interesting. Doesn't seem that heartbroken.
- 27:58He seems more confused why they traded him to the Sixers than anything else.
- 28:00I would be too, by the way. Understandable. Yeah, but he
- 28:05talked about like, oh, you know, we would like— we won a lot together,
- 28:08but tried to be complimentary in some way, shape, or form, but it was very
- 28:11like chill. I want to show you guys what
- 28:16Jaylen Brown said in reaction to this video.
- 28:19So, Cody, will you pop up that graphic for me? I sure will.
- 28:23All right. There you are. There's, there's a screenshot. And underneath is Jaylen Brown's
- 28:28response. That, my friends, is cap. And for the uninitiated,
- 28:32that means you're lying.
- 28:35That means you're lying. He commented that on the video
- 28:39on Instagram. For— with his full chest from his real fucking account.
- 28:43So Jaylen Brown does not have fond feelings for Jayson
- 28:47Tatum right now. Nope. Um, Jayson Tatum's reaction to Jaylen Brown leaving
- 28:50was pretty underwhelming to begin with. It's this one. And then,
- 28:53yeah, now we're here. So, you know, their whole article
- 28:57today that says, is Jayson Tatum under increased pressure after Jaylen Brown's
- 29:01comments? And my whole point was to say,
- 29:04yeah, yeah, yeah, of course he is, because If
- 29:07you did not keep a brotherhood, right? If you, if you two
- 29:11didn't have a brotherhood on that team after everything you'd been through, which, by the
- 29:15way, I know so many people in Celtics media, whatever.
- 29:18They actually had a great working relationship until these contract
- 29:22negotiations, until this shit happened, really, until the rumors started happening and Jayson
- 29:26didn't have his back. And there was a lot of reported friction about the fact
- 29:30that Jaylen Brown got them, got such a boost in his profile with Jayson
- 29:35Tatum out. And it caused them to have a falling out. This is not where
- 29:38their relationship was. No, I thought they were good. They were great. So I
- 29:43do think Jayson Tatum has an immense amount of pressure to
- 29:47say, uh, well, if this was— if I was gonna be butthurt about the fact
- 29:51that Jaylen Brown was A-number-one while I was out, I better step
- 29:55up. Now tonight he was very clutch against the Knicks. They won that game.
- 29:59Jaylen Brown's been playing well. This could be interesting. This could
- 30:03get really interesting. I'm very fired up for Christmas Day specifically.
- 30:06Yeah, well, I'm not gonna be— you know, I hate, I hate trying to watch
- 30:11football— I mean, uh, basketball on Christmas. I like watching football on Thanksgiving, but I
- 30:15do not like watching basketball on Christmas. It's a lot for me.
- 30:18Where are you doing Christmas? At my house.
- 30:24Yeah, me and Chris, we, we Zoom with my family. Like for hours at
- 30:29a time in the morning, and then we, you know, drink a lot of mimosas.
- 30:31A lot of mimosas. Um, do you want to talk about the
- 30:35kicking off the World Series and where the MLB is at?
- 30:39I would love to. Oh, skipping early. Nice. Too early.
- 30:43Um, the World Series has kicked off. Yeah. And, um, we have
- 30:47a fun little— we have a fun little twist here on the conversation that we
- 30:50had last show where we were just talking about the parody and everything else.
- 30:52That I wanted to show you. So now you can bring up that
- 30:56graphic. I'm gonna. Okay. This World Series
- 30:59will be the 2nd championship round matchup in the NBA, NFL,
- 31:02MLB, or NHL between 2 franchises who had each been
- 31:06in the league for 25 or more years without ever winning the title.
- 31:09The other was the 1990 Stan— 1999
- 31:13Stanley Cup Finals between the Stars and the Sabres. So to me,
- 31:17that's actually kind of wild. This isn't just like something that rarely happens
- 31:21in the major league, in Major League Baseball. It's something that never
- 31:25happens in sports. So once
- 31:29again, love to see it.
- 31:34Excited to see how the World Series plays out. Did the Brewers win tonight?
- 31:38They're currently winning right now. Oh, they just won.
- 31:42They just won. They just won. Brewers win 3-2. And I have the Brewers in
- 31:45this series, by the way, going 6 games. Yeah, your boy. I gotta say,
- 31:48favorite coach, Pat Murphy. I love Pat Murphy. I have a lot of Pat Murphy
- 31:52stories. I just love— you think you're needling me? Like,
- 31:55I think Pat thinks I hate him. I, I don't. I love Pat Murphy.
- 31:58I just, I'm just honest about Pat Murphy. Yeah, that's all. I'm just honest
- 32:02about the guy. Yeah. Like, is Pat a great guy? Yes and no.
- 32:06Yeah, like most people. That's how I feel about Mike Vrabel.
- 32:09Yeah, he's complex. Do I, do I love him like a
- 32:14father figure? Was he a father figure to me? Yes. Were we extremely close for
- 32:18about 4 years? Yes. Did we have a mild falling out?
- 32:21Yes. Do we have any ill will to say about each other?
- 32:24Absolutely not. I have nothing but good things to say about him. Okay. But by
- 32:28the way, everything I say about him now is exactly what I said about
- 32:33him then. Yeah, he's the best motivator I've ever had. I think he's a fucking
- 32:36hoot. I will say, I will say, Kevin Cash
- 32:41is great. Is, has, is the longest tenured coach in Major League Baseball.
- 32:45Which I was like, oh, I didn't realize he'd been there even longer than Dave
- 32:47Roberts has been in Los Angeles. I mean, it makes sense.
- 32:51He's been there forever. He built the whole thing. He is so underrated
- 32:55because no one talks about the Rays and no one, you know, cares about the
- 32:57Rays. Agreed. But he's a fucking legend. No doubt about it.
- 33:00He's fucking unbelievable. So you really can't go wrong with either one of these teams
- 33:03winning. What we can— where we are going to lose regardless is there
- 33:07is going to be a fucking lockout. The MLBPA said today
- 33:11that a lockout is happening. They said that it's happening. There's virtually no chance Major
- 33:15League Baseball and the Players Association would agree to extend the current labor agreement to
- 33:18avoid a potentially disastrous lockout. Even if the league was not proposing a salary cap,
- 33:22the centerpiece of a contentious negotiation, interim union
- 33:25head Bruce Meyer is not prepared to do a status quo deal,
- 33:30Commissioner Rob Manfred said Friday before Game 1 of the World Series. He made a
- 33:33lot of demands about improvements that they want, Manfred continued.
- 33:37Everybody's got stuff on the table right now. And, you know, we'll see how it
- 33:40sorts out. But Manfred himself isn't interested in the status quo deal either.
- 33:44I'm not suggesting I am. My only point is everybody's focused on the fact that
- 33:48you have a salary cap on the table and Meyer doesn't
- 33:51like that. Well, he has a whole lot of proposals on the table that we
- 33:55don't like. We're going to have to get through that. For his part, Meyer said
- 33:59that anything's possible, but there's been no discussion about the idea
- 34:03of an extension. And ultimately cast doubt it would happen. It's not happening. It's not
- 34:07happening. The CBA is going to be dead. It is. There is going to be
- 34:10a lockout. Lockout. So again, if you like baseball, enjoy the
- 34:14World Series. Please do. Might be the last one. Last time you're gonna be— ever,
- 34:17ever. Enjoy. Last time you're gonna watch baseball in a long time.
- 34:20It's gonna be a while. Um, and it's gonna get ugly. Very.
- 34:24And it's gonna get exhausting. Extremely. So enjoy this really
- 34:28delightful World Series because tonight was a great game. It was. Um,
- 34:31that's, that's really that. What else did you have? Any other World Series thoughts or
- 34:34anything else you want to add? I, I think these are 2 very good teams.
- 34:38These are 2 teams worth watching. This is a World Series
- 34:42worth watching. I know the ratings are going to be way
- 34:45down, but, um, I honestly
- 34:50think that's also good for baseball because as much as like we're like,
- 34:54I, I don't know what to say, like This is so surface level at this
- 34:58point. We have 2 small market teams, one of which is the smallest market.
- 35:01The last 2 World Series was the 2nd largest market in the Dodgers, who everyone
- 35:06says is ruining baseball. But the ratings were so fucking through the roof and
- 35:10the money was so through the roof that I simply don't understand
- 35:13what you guys want. Like, that's where I keep getting— I've said
- 35:17this like 90 times this week. And we have actually a good question.
- 35:21I'm very curious about 2027 if some big names go up,
- 35:25uh, go to KBO? And oh God, that'd be very interesting. Would networks in 2027
- 35:29pick up games if, say, a Bryce Harper's playing for the Hanshin Tigers? So I
- 35:32don't see a world where like a Bryce Harper goes over there because the,
- 35:36the thing is, he's got too much money. The, the thing is they don't pay
- 35:38Bryce Harper. So when they pay in the KBO, they pay Cody Decker
- 35:42money. Yeah, like they can get me for $750,000.
- 35:47Guys, do we get— do we bring Cody back to the staff? They didn't when
- 35:51I was not washed up, so they're not going to do it now. I think
- 35:55you'd die if you played a full baseball game right now. No, I would be
- 35:57fucking great. I could play a whole season right now. Well, you, you really— they
- 36:01just need you to DH. Oh, I can DH right now. Yeah. Okay. I was
- 36:04gonna say I can play a full season DH right now. Right fucking now.
- 36:08Hell yeah. Badly, but I could do it, but I would do it. You'd hit
- 36:11more home runs than I would. Uh, I would, uh, probably 3 at this point
- 36:15in my life. But I will say this, like the KBO, like I tried to
- 36:17get over the KBO. So I do think that when Major League Baseball doesn't come
- 36:21back, I do see ESPN like spending some money on some KBO games because they
- 36:25did this during COVID Uh, KBO launched about 2 months before Major League Baseball and
- 36:29we were all watching KBO games at like fucking 5 AM during COVID It was
- 36:32fucking great. We had nothing to do during COVID So exactly. So I got up
- 36:36at 5 AM to watch some fucking professional baseball and Korean baseball and it was
- 36:39fucking awesome. Um, but to say that we're
- 36:43going to see stars go over there. So there's multiple reasons why we're not.
- 36:45One of which is very simple and it's They have, uh,
- 36:49rules over in Japan, Venezuela,
- 36:52Mexico, all the Caribbeans, and,
- 36:56and, and, uh, Korea. Um, they have a, um,
- 36:59a limit to import players. They usually— it's
- 37:03between 3 to 5 players, and that's any import. That means not
- 37:07American, Dominican, Cuban,
- 37:10yada yada yada. They can only have that many players that are not from that
- 37:13country play in their league. Um, and it's so they can grow
- 37:17their league. That's the whole thing. Yeah, because otherwise they would just get a bunch
- 37:20of AAA, AA players, pretty much. Yeah. Uh, and, and by the way, that,
- 37:23that, that, that business model has absolutely worked out for both these leagues because
- 37:27they've developed into monster leagues to the point where, uh, NBP,
- 37:30uh, Nippon Professional Baseball, is, in my opinion,
- 37:34actually might be better than Major League Baseball now. That's how
- 37:38good Japan is now. Uh, I tried to get
- 37:42over to Japan for years. It's very difficult to get there. Bryce, if Bryce Harper
- 37:45says tomorrow I want to go to Japan, they'll sign him in a heartbeat.
- 37:48Yeah. And they'll probably pay him the greatest record deal ever in Japan, but it
- 37:53would be like $12 million. Yeah. And Japan would
- 37:57definitely be the most high-profile place you could play. So that's really the only place
- 38:00outside the United States. Japan would be number one. No, and it's not even KBO
- 38:05would probably be 3 in Korea. Uh, you can go to Mexico. That'd probably be
- 38:094. Uh, because their summer league is a fucking monster league as well. But it's
- 38:13like we're talking Major League Baseball, the crème de la crème. Like it's NFL.
- 38:17It's that like those leagues are just not that.
- 38:21Okay. Well, I love that question. Thank you for that question,
- 38:25Avery Sports Show. That was a really good one. Um,
- 38:29and I think that's it for that. We— before we head into Media Corner where
- 38:33we are also going to talk about Angel Reese over there too, but we— I
- 38:36want to talk about Angel Reese specifically. Just on her own terms and this
- 38:40WNBA Finals. Because since we last talked, there was a Game 3 and
- 38:45she fucking dominated that one too. Yeah, we are watching
- 38:49like the— can you remember maybe a comp
- 38:54for the last time you knew that someone was in the middle of becoming
- 38:57one of the most famous athletes that we have? Like, we're watching someone level
- 39:02up from being famous successful to like,
- 39:06we are now talking about superstar. People who
- 39:10don't watch sports know her. Yes, but it's smaller.
- 39:14And hear me out on this, you're gonna think I'm crazy for saying this.
- 39:18Um, there was a Home Run Derby that happened.
- 39:22No one knew who Bobby Abreu was. Bobby Abreu
- 39:26went off in this Home Run Derby. Bobby Abreu went
- 39:30from a Reds power hitter to like signing a massive deal
- 39:34with the Yankees to being like the next Little League World
- 39:37Series. Every kid on every team said their favorite player was Bobby Abreu.
- 39:42It lasted maybe 2 and a half years. Yeah, so why did you bring that
- 39:45up as a comp? The reason why I brought it up was because literally he
- 39:49came out of fucking nowhere and he was— he didn't come out of nowhere.
- 39:52She's literally been famous since she was— you're right, but she was not famous for
- 39:56what she's famous for. Bullshit-wise,
- 40:00she should be famous for how great she is for winning a title
- 40:04in college. Like, she's— I know she's fucking famous, but like,
- 40:07I— the thing that drives me nuts about the Angel Reese conversation, because Angel Reese
- 40:10is astonishing. Yeah, but Angel Reese's fucking national
- 40:15narrative, because most people don't watch Angel Reese, most people just go off of,
- 40:17well, I'm a Caitlin Clark fan, that they just,
- 40:21they just assume me bounds that she sucks.
- 40:24Angel Reese is one of the top 5 best players alive.
- 40:28Like right now, I mean, she's like— when, when we're talking about when
- 40:32I, I feel like this is more akin to like— this feels a
- 40:35lot more to me like Tiger Woods and Serena Williams
- 40:39and these players who we know through their whole youth,
- 40:43that generational, huh? Well, no, that's what it feels like right now.
- 40:46I don't— I can't see into the future. It could be. What I'm saying is
- 40:49that turning point of like, we knew Serena was going to
- 40:52be crazy good It— was she gonna be one of the GOATs? We don't know.
- 40:56Then, right, she starts winning. She's, she's tag team,
- 41:00you know, the pairs with Venus. Venus was the better one. And then all
- 41:04of a sudden we're like, oh fuck, she's the best tennis player in the world,
- 41:07right? Same thing with Tiger. We hear about Tiger, we hear about Tiger, we hear—
- 41:11oh, hold on, holy shit. Okay, whatever. I hear what you're saying.
- 41:15You know, I, I hear what you're saying. You know why I'm not there?
- 41:18There is because I, I know Asia Wilson exists.
- 41:23Like, those people, like, right, superseded their sport.
- 41:27This is so exhausting to talk about Angel with anybody who's not
- 41:31a Black woman. I need to only talk about Angel with Black women. I just
- 41:35can't. I can't. I don't understand how you guys don't fucking get what I'm saying.
- 41:38I don't understand it. Well, make me understand. I don't understand. It's so crazy.
- 41:42It's crazy making. Make me understand. I'm so sorry. Serena Williams was not
- 41:46the best women's player in the world when she started playing tennis. I'm aware there
- 41:50was a superstar. There were several, like, in fact Venus was way above
- 41:53her at the time, like, but there were people with like records who were like,
- 41:56they exist, Serena can't be the best. I didn't say Angel was the best player
- 42:00in the world right now. Yes, right. Tiger Woods also wasn't
- 42:04the best golfer in the world when he won his first fucking— you are
- 42:09right, but no, no, I, I guess, okay, so let me explain.
- 42:12Let me talk to you about Angel Reese.
- 42:15My issue is not that Angel Reese is not having her coming out party,
- 42:18because maybe she does, could take this moment and like become the Tiger Woods of
- 42:21everything. Yeah, at the time Tiger Woods became Tiger Woods,
- 42:25there was— the greatest of all time wasn't currently in
- 42:28golf. That, that is arguable.
- 42:31Who, who was it? Because, because it was Arnold Palmer to everyone,
- 42:35and Jack Nicklaus. And Jack Nicklaus at this point was way past
- 42:39Jack Nicklaus. Not way past, it could not have been that long.
- 42:42It could not have been. Was he already on the senior tour at that point?
- 42:45Yes, but like, it wasn't like— it wasn't like he had like— it was from
- 42:48the 1970s. He was like— he had like stopped winning titles.
- 42:52'90s. It was the '90s when Tiger started winning.
- 42:55At that point, like, the number one golfer was like fucking Greg Norman.
- 43:02I just told you Jack Nicklaus was still alive and proximate
- 43:06to being the best— the best golfer that we'd ever seen.
- 43:09Yes, I'm agreeing with you, but I'm— Angel,
- 43:12my point is A'ja Wilson's going to win 3 more fucking MVPs.
- 43:17We are still in the midst of the best female basketball player of all time.
- 43:21What does that have to do with my point? My— your
- 43:24point is that we think we're— let me understand this,
- 43:28like, so we can have a conversation, so we can like not be mad at
- 43:31each other. I'm not mad at you. I feel like you're mad. I'm not mad
- 43:33at you. I would, I would tell you if I was mad. You put your
- 43:35hand in your face and said, I need to talk to a Black woman.
- 43:37And I'm not that. I'm like the antithesis of it. No, I don't. I know.
- 43:40I genuinely think that, like, you guys, I think that it's really, really hard to
- 43:44talk about women as athletes to men for a lot of reasons. And I think
- 43:47part of the reason is because trying to, like, trying to,
- 43:51to get into the nuance of what greatness means in a
- 43:56women's league, like, you're always going to kind of reduce it down to,
- 43:59okay, but Right? Like, we already have— we have this, that, and the other.
- 44:03And I don't think you do it on purpose, and I don't think anybody who
- 44:06does it is like being a dick. Like, I certainly don't think you're being a
- 44:08dick, but I do think that there's a lack of, of nuance. And we,
- 44:11we run into this all the time. We talk about NBA players, NFL players,
- 44:14where it's just like we're not allowed to like to move with
- 44:18fluidity through these conversations, right? Right. So like,
- 44:21so this is how I see it, and maybe this is going to be completely
- 44:24lost on you— and not lost on you because because you don't understand.
- 44:28Lost on you because it's very clear I'm not able to explain this properly.
- 44:32But I— the reason why I'm saying this is at the time when Tiger
- 44:36Woods was coming up, it was— I consider that more of a dead period of,
- 44:40of male golf. Jack Nicklaus was no longer the
- 44:44Jack Nicklaus of old. He was already in the Senior Tour. And now this newcomer
- 44:48Tiger Woods takes over and wins fucking everything, and now he's the fucking GOAT
- 44:51in real time, right? But why, why do we need it to be that exact—
- 44:56you're probably right, but my issue is I, I need people to fucking
- 45:00know who A'ja Wilson is right now. Yeah. And I need
- 45:04that to happen because she's gonna win like 3 more MVPs. They do not
- 45:08enough. Sure. Um, but also there, you know,
- 45:11we have been through— we've been through this before where, um,
- 45:15you know, the— at the time the league— when
- 45:19Magic Johnson and Larry Bird made the NBA profitable.
- 45:22Yes. Right. When they made them There was a bunch of people our age
- 45:27in the '80s being like, have none of you ever fucking heard of Moses Malone?
- 45:30You are right. Ever fucking heard of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar? Yes,
- 45:34but it's the same thing. You think
- 45:38so? Those two are like playing it. I'm not saying she's better than Asia.
- 45:43Neither Magic Johnson wasn't better than the players they were talking about either. He became
- 45:47better, of course, but he became better. Right?
- 45:50But at the time, if had they said it, they'd have been right.
- 45:53Bill Russell had 11 rings. You're right, 11 rings.
- 45:57And they were like, finally something to watch, right? Fucking right.
- 46:01Stupid. You're right, he's the GOAT. You and I— Asia's nuts.
- 46:05Insane in a conversation outside of
- 46:09like normal greatness at this point. And I firmly
- 46:12believe she's gonna win more. I'm thinking about— we're talking about like some watching
- 46:16someone's come into their stardom. I know that. I mean, that I
- 46:20will never agree with. This is rocketing. No question.
- 46:23She is fucking— I firmly believe, by the way, I do think part of
- 46:27this is like that I— and something that is different from her and Asia is
- 46:30like Angel just has like an X-factor personality.
- 46:35She does. That first of all, Asia's super lovely, which by the way, no,
- 46:37Asia's lovely, but she doesn't have what Angel— she does not have what Angel possesses.
- 46:40Angel's like gonna be a crossover Like,
- 46:45you know, she's— we have some of those stars. We have like Peyton
- 46:48Manning, people who are like good at everything that they do
- 46:52outside of their sport. That's Angel. Yeah. And on top
- 46:56of that, we're watching her take over a WNBA
- 47:01Finals where people were very hesitant
- 47:05to say that she was one of the best players in the league before this.
- 47:07She's going to come out of it Finals MVP if they keep doing this.
- 47:10No question. They win this series, she's Finals MVP. It's not even a fucking question.
- 47:13And I've already said how excited I am for the white panic over her winning
- 47:16a title before. You were like, get ready for the— get ready for the white
- 47:20panic, it's gonna be funny. I was just about to have a white panic when
- 47:23you were talking about Angel. I was like, he's not getting what I'm saying.
- 47:25And I was, I was having white panic. I'm not getting what you're saying because
- 47:28the, the comp you're— it's even in the chat because I feel like clearly
- 47:33I'm not explaining this well. Um, uh, Phoenix Reign says, why can't
- 47:37they both be great? Uh, why does one have to be over the other?
- 47:39I completely agree, completely agree. The conversation I was having
- 47:43was she was saying like coming into the basically the GOAT conversation,
- 47:48like the first steps. This could be that. Absolutely.
- 47:51My issue is with the other comps is they weren't playing in the exact
- 47:55era of their respected GOAT. And in my opinion,
- 47:59WNBA, but there's the GOAT is Asia. There is again,
- 48:02the GOAT is also still under debate in WNBA. Fair. Like that's actually very
- 48:06much under debate. Are people debating Asia versus Diana Taurasi?
- 48:10Exists. Yeah, like there's— now granted, right now it—
- 48:14I, I don't know how I make a case for anyone that does—
- 48:18that's not Asia, in my opinion. But that's new, man. Like,
- 48:21this happened really fast. Asia won these MVPs really fast. We've been like
- 48:25trying to catch up with the fact that Asia's— so I'm fine with calling
- 48:29Asia the GOAT. I would call Asia the GOAT. But there are some people who
- 48:32are not ready to have that conversation yet, just like people aren't ready to have
- 48:35that conversation around LeBron. What do we got?
- 48:39Cody. Cody. I, I specified because she wanted to make sure she—
- 48:43oh, it's ladies, it's JJ. Yeah, the comp is Derek Jeter.
- 48:48I thought that was funny. The comp for Angel? I, I don't know who the
- 48:52comp she's talking about, but it made me laugh either way. I think it's— but
- 48:54I think she's talking about Angel. I think she's talking about Angel. Yeah,
- 48:58I think so too. I, I don't, I don't like Derek Jeter, so I don't
- 49:02want it to be Derek Jeter. Yeah, that's, um Big Poppy? Oh,
- 49:06I don't know, because— no, because like, she's— the
- 49:09way that Poppy came on, like, it took a while for Poppy to become what
- 49:13he was. Like, she's been an all-star, one of the best defenders since she was
- 49:16a rookie. Like, yeah, you know what I mean? She just had those twins ears.
- 49:20Yeah, yeah. Listen, I, I fucking love Angel Reese.
- 49:23Yeah, like, period, stop. I fucking love Angel Reese. Can't get enough of her.
- 49:26I think she's the badass. Yeah,
- 49:29no, I mean, we both— we're both big fans, and I just It's just wild.
- 49:33Oh, it's the comp for Angel. Derek Jeter. Yeah, it's the comp for Angel.
- 49:36So I mean, like, she's better than Derek Jeter was. I see. Like,
- 49:40Derek was amazing. That's the thing is I think Derek Jeter's overrated. I think so
- 49:43too. I like— I'm like, oh, like, Derek won the rings, but Derek was— Derek
- 49:47of his generation was a part of a 3-shortstop era.
- 49:51He was the 3rd best of those shortstops. Definitely not better than Nomar.
- 49:54Nomar was better, and so was A-Rod. I mean, yeah,
- 49:58and so was— and yeah, Defensively, not offensively.
- 50:02Omar Vizquel. Okay, well, there you go. Unfortunately, Jay, today we refuse to do this
- 50:07with you. But one of them was on the Yankees, so he got the rings.
- 50:11Yeah. So you came around. I think that, like, there's, there's certain topics
- 50:15that are just, like, so hard. It's so hard for me when I feel
- 50:18so passionately. I don't ride for athletes. So when
- 50:22I really, really do, I think it's like I get so worked up
- 50:26because I'm like, you don't understand what I'm saying. It's like, not your fault.
- 50:29But I will say I'm very spoiled by a community of Black women to talk
- 50:34about WNBA with, and it's not the same with anyone else. Not even you.
- 50:39Meaty corner.
- 50:43That actually is— I'm not going to lie to you— the most hurtful thing you've
- 50:46ever said. That you're not as fucking— that, like, that you're not a
- 50:50Black woman. I know we all— it was the not even you statement.
- 50:54I know that actually that hit me in a spot I wasn't prepared for.
- 50:58Where was it? Where did it hit you? A dead
- 51:01part of my heart that I just didn't realize might
- 51:06have had some life in it. Oh my God. Now you— now you
- 51:10know it's dead. I see, I see. Um, well, if you'd like to feel worse,
- 51:14let's talk about Kirk Herbstreit. Fuck. Um, this actually
- 51:17is— this is a non-laughing matter. This really fucking
- 51:21sucks. Um, Kirk Herbstreit
- 51:25is facing criticism for referring to Caleb Williams as a bucking bronco.
- 51:31We are going to play the soundbite of the video for you.
- 51:34If you could do that, Cody, I think
- 51:37that would be great. Thank you.
- 51:41I mean, when he first got here, Caleb Williams was like a bucking bronco.
- 51:45He needed to be trained and needed to be taught how to play within
- 51:51structure. You know, it was the one thing about Caleb Williams, dynamic playmaker in college
- 51:54and in his first year here, but he was a little reckless. You know,
- 51:56he didn't make the easy play. Now in his second year, Ben Johnson, he's much
- 52:01more refined in how he plays the position. And let's, let's be
- 52:05honest here. I mean, when he first got here, Caleb Williams was like a bucking
- 52:08bronco. He needed to be trained and needed to be taught
- 52:12how to play.
- 52:15That kind of, that kind of language around a
- 52:20Black quarterback, um, any quarterback quite honestly,
- 52:24but the fact— I mean, we, we have to recognize that it
- 52:27only ever speaks this way about Black quarterbacks with it around
- 52:31the history of the deep, deep racism and the constant
- 52:35discussion of Black athletes and Black quarterbacks as
- 52:39raw talent that needs to be like violently
- 52:44whipped into shape is— it's— we're not fishing
- 52:48here. This is not dog whistling. This is outright,
- 52:52straight up fucking KKK-level racism.
- 52:56Like, I'm sorry, but I am at the point now where
- 53:00the stuff that comes out of Kirk's mouth has been dog whistles. This is
- 53:04straight out of a fucking Tarantino movie. And I'm— I am
- 53:08not kidding. He needs to be pulled off air. Like, this guy needs to be
- 53:11fucking off air. This is the kind of shit that
- 53:16you need to be fucking pulled off air for. We have
- 53:20pulled dudes off of national radio shows for less,
- 53:23have we not? Yes,
- 53:27I am. I can't— I'm— are
- 53:32we fucking kidding? Like, is this a joke? This isn't the first. This isn't even
- 53:35the first time Herb Street has said something eye-raising about— like, is this a fucking
- 53:38joke in 2024? He got into uncomfortable territory speculating
- 53:42whether Williams had the discipline to be the first guy in, last guy out type
- 53:46of quarterback, then quickly admitted he hadn't heard anything to suggest he wasn't.
- 53:51I would like to congratulate Dan Orlovsky.
- 53:56Dan, there's way worse than you. I mean,
- 53:59don't worry, give Dan time, he might get to there. You might, but right now,
- 54:03at some point, they're gonna— right now, take this guy's place, and this one's
- 54:06fucking Taking the fucking championship directly
- 54:11off your shoulder. This is— Cody, do you think that he should be pulled off
- 54:14air? Fucking yes. Yeah. Yeah. Describing Caleb
- 54:18Williams as a wild animal that needs to be fucking whipped into shape. Yeah.
- 54:21You fucking think in today's day and age, like, what fucking earth
- 54:25am I on? By the way, he won the game handedly, by the way.
- 54:29He's— he's got a fucking completion percentage over 80%.
- 54:32He had a fucking passer rating of like 120 yesterday.
- 54:36What the fuck? I would like to— I want to tell you,
- 54:39it's happening. It's— this is so fucking wild too, because Caleb came
- 54:43in more pro-ready than Justin
- 54:47Herbert and Josh Allen and Baker Mayfield and all these other dudes. He came in
- 54:50more pro-ready than Drake Maye, and I
- 54:54have never heard any of those dudes talked about
- 54:57this explicitly. It's disgusting. It makes
- 55:01me so fucking Sick. Like,
- 55:05I— Kirk is Kirk. And we said this
- 55:09in one of our— I said this in, in one of the videos that went
- 55:11viral where we were talking about like just how insidious the racism is and,
- 55:15and how people will like use specific language,
- 55:18right? Remember that video? And I said most people
- 55:21outside of Kirk Herbstreit aren't doing it like they don't know
- 55:25they're racist. Yeah, they'll just say the word quarterback included. Kirk Herbstreit
- 55:30for a reason. He's, he's in like
- 55:34a, at this point, a proud racist, which is wild because that guy is putting
- 55:37so much fucking tanner on his fucking weird-ass face. Yeah, he seems to be so
- 55:42like horrified by his melanin deficiency but
- 55:46perfectly happy to be a fucking racist toward everybody. He'll paint himself,
- 55:49but yeah, borderline. Oh my God,
- 55:53I'm so tired. I'm so tired
- 55:57of the dog whistling and the bullshit that we're constantly calling
- 56:00out. But to hear somebody spoken like
- 56:04this, especially— we're talking about, we've been dealing with all this stuff around Jalen
- 56:08Hurts. Yeah, the medical malpractice. Yeah, talking about how
- 56:12much medical racism there really is. Do you know how many fucking DMs
- 56:17and comments I've gotten this week alone from Black people
- 56:21who've been like, this is what I've experienced, this is what I've experienced as a
- 56:24doctor with Black patients, this is what I've experienced as a, as a Black person
- 56:27with blood clots or with whatever else, this is what my wife or my daughter
- 56:31or my whatever experienced. It is horrifying all the
- 56:35time. And now Jalen Hurts is dealing with being dehumanized by
- 56:39the NFL, and then this motherfucker goes on television
- 56:43to say this about another Black man. I am so fucking done.
- 56:46I really hope Kirk Herbstreit never— I really hope,
- 56:50for his sake, we're never in the same room. So, here's the deal. Like,
- 56:52um, you and I, like, have, like— I'll say,
- 56:56like, 4 weeks ago got called out, and I'm using air quotes,
- 56:59'cause we weren't really called out. We were right, and this guy's a shithook.
- 57:04Um, like, for being so woke because
- 57:07we call everything racist. No, we call the racist shit racist.
- 57:11Um, It's been, like, so fucking glaring
- 57:16lately. Like, it's not— We're past dog whistles.
- 57:19Like, we're way past dog whistles. We got the president,
- 57:23like, defending an ad from fucking Vivek
- 57:27Ramaswamy, uh, like glorifying the sexual assault
- 57:32of her opponent as a child. Mmhmm. Like,
- 57:35we're in fucking— We're in hell. Op— like such
- 57:39times that like, if this happened
- 57:42to your friend in high school, you would have beaten the fuck out of all
- 57:46of these people if you had a remote soul in you.
- 57:49Like everything you were taught was right. Everything you
- 57:54know is right and wrong. All these people just do wrong shit
- 57:57and they're getting like somehow rewarded. Like this is a batshit
- 58:01world we're currently in and I don't know what the fuck to say about it.
- 58:04It's fucking nasty and it's gross. And the racism towards Black quarterbacks
- 58:08and Black athletes right now is so outrageously
- 58:12through the fucking roof that I don't think dog whistle is
- 58:16a fair assessment. No, it's just straight up racist comments
- 58:20is what they are. And like, it's almost cartoonishly—
- 58:24it seems like something that the racist white coach
- 58:28would have said in a like 1990s
- 58:33sports movie playing a racist white coach. Like, that's how racist it is. It sounds
- 58:37cartoonish. It sounds like something that,
- 58:41like, you know, one of those motherfuckers would have been scripted to say to
- 58:45show what, you know, white dudes during segregation
- 58:49were like. Truly. And it's really upsetting because I just had so much respect for
- 58:53Kurt Hertzfeldt before this. You did? No, motherfucker.
- 58:57I was like, I thought you were saying like, like 15 years ago or something.
- 59:00That was sarcasm and a joke, and it was funny.
- 59:03Um, on the flip side, uh, somebody who
- 59:07I, I generally am, am okay with,
- 59:10uh, I'm not saying I always— I like Nick Wright. I'm not saying I always
- 59:14agree with his takes, but I do— I can say I like him, that I
- 59:18do actually think Nick Wright operates in good faith more
- 59:23than most people on sports television. I would agree with that. And so my
- 59:28whole thing is, if I think you're operating in good faith and occasionally you do
- 59:31some like gig, you know, some, some bits, some gags,
- 59:34you do your thing, you, you do the fucking Mahomes thing. He wades
- 59:39into shady territory being a little overly critical about Lamar Jackson
- 59:43because Lamar is like the biggest threat to Mahomes being like the best
- 59:47quarterback, whatever. Yeah. And so he— I've got my, my gripes, but overall I do
- 59:51think he generally operates in good faith. He called out the media, um,
- 59:54on his show for Angel Reese coverage, unfair Angel Reese
- 59:58coverage. And his thing is like, he doesn't normally— these guys
- 1:00:02don't normally wade into like talking shit about the rest of the media. They leave
- 1:00:05that to Stephen A. Smith and us apparently. But, um,
- 1:00:09he said this: sports media needs to decide whether it wants to cover
- 1:00:12the WNBA or not. First of all, I don't like the or not.
- 1:00:16There's no or not. We're covering the WNBA. I'm gonna get his point.
- 1:00:19Here's what I mean. This show, we are a vast majority an NFL and NBA
- 1:00:23show. Baseball playoffs, a little college football here and there. But what we don't do
- 1:00:26is be like, oh, did a Black player foul Caitlin Clark hard? Let's put that
- 1:00:30in the show. Enes Kanter making a fool of himself again? Let's lead with that.
- 1:00:34Some shows are doing that. That's fine. If you're one of those shows, then maybe
- 1:00:38pay attention to the actual basketball that's going on in the Finals right now,
- 1:00:40because it's pretty good. In men's basketball, no matter what your regular season
- 1:00:44standing is, if you're one of the best players but clearly not the best player,
- 1:00:46and then in the playoffs you're clearly the best player and you lead your team
- 1:00:49to a championship, It raises your standing dramatically. There, um, he says if
- 1:00:53you're gonna cover the sport for the gory kind of culture war stuff, then actually
- 1:00:57cover the sport when someone who's been a main character of your culture war
- 1:01:01stuff is playing great basketball. I think Angel Reese deserves a ton of credit.
- 1:01:05I agree with that, with one caveat, with one major caveat. Yeah.
- 1:01:09Um, no, I agree with everything. You're right, cover Angel Reese, cover the WNBA,
- 1:01:13and especially if you're fucking doing anything with the culture war shit. But in
- 1:01:17the same breath, if you can't sit here with a straight face
- 1:01:21and say you're not going to talk about the— if you want to like take
- 1:01:24the high road, then you should talk about the Enes Kanter stuff. And you know
- 1:01:28what you should do? Fucking stick your fucking flag in the ground and say,
- 1:01:31no, fuck this motherfucker, and be on the right side of that and then go
- 1:01:35on to talk about the actual game. That's what I think you should do,
- 1:01:37because if you're not going to talk about any of it, then you're actually making
- 1:01:40all of it kind of inert. Yes, I— that's— I'm glad to hear you say
- 1:01:44that we're on the same page. Yeah, that was also my exact critique, which is
- 1:01:47that like, it's actually like, I agree that
- 1:01:51the critique is fair. He's not wrong. But also, you are—
- 1:01:56you are also part of the problem. Yes. By saying we don't even really talk
- 1:02:00about WNBA, so no big deal. So you're letting everyone else talk about the WNBA
- 1:02:03this way and you're not fixing the problem. And you, in this respect,
- 1:02:07you can Do your part and fix the fucking problem. We ran into this
- 1:02:11with Bill Simmons too. We did it where he was like, essentially like, why is
- 1:02:15no one talking about Olivia Miles? And it's like, you can't— like, Nick can't come
- 1:02:19on and be like, why won't you guys talk about Angel Reese if you're going
- 1:02:22to talk about Caitlin Clark? When like Nick won't talk about Angel Reese and the
- 1:02:26WNBA. Yeah, my answer is either why aren't you doing it? Like,
- 1:02:29it's like every— all these dudes are passing the buck and
- 1:02:33it's like they act like their hands are tied behind their back. They're like,
- 1:02:36we just must only talk about NFL. We gotta talk about Mahomes.
- 1:02:40Like, you and I cover during the NFL season, we lead into
- 1:02:43the show almost every show with NFL. We're not idiots. We— they—
- 1:02:47my bread and butter is NFL. My bread and butter is NFL.
- 1:02:50You know what I do to— I supplement that with throwing
- 1:02:54in WNBA when I can and talking about the big stories. We're never going
- 1:02:58to be WNBA beat reporters unless they want to, you know, pay me, whatever,
- 1:03:01I'll be there. But, uh, we also— like, I also do a ton
- 1:03:05of engaging about WNBA on Threads and on other parts of social
- 1:03:09media. I consume it that way. And that way I'm staying, you know, my— with
- 1:03:13my fingers on the pulse. These guys aren't fucking doing that. That's my— that's my
- 1:03:16only issue. Like, like, because I agree with what Nick is saying, but also you'd
- 1:03:20be like, you guys aren't doing enough. Yeah, motherfucker.
- 1:03:23What are you doing? Yeah, exactly. Motherfucker. What are you doing? Talk about it then.
- 1:03:27Like, fucking talk about it. But also those other things that
- 1:03:31are the culture war stories, you can talk about those and you can talk about
- 1:03:35where you are on that. And then give the context,
- 1:03:38because I know where you are on that. I know for a fact you fucking
- 1:03:40think this guy's an ass clown like we think he's a fucking ass clown.
- 1:03:44You can bring that up and dunk on this motherfucker and then talk about how
- 1:03:47great Angel Reese is. You're not doing any of that. So giving the
- 1:03:51criticism to other people is a bit disingenuous to me. Me, even on my fucking,
- 1:03:56fucking run-of-the-mill radio morning show, I try to sneak these in as
- 1:03:59much as I fucking humanly can. By the way, our,
- 1:04:03our Gen X friend JJ, She put in the chat, and I
- 1:04:07think this might have been when we were talking— it could have been on either
- 1:04:09of these segments— but she said, I did not survive the Cold War and my
- 1:04:12existential dread of dying in nuclear war for this bullshit.
- 1:04:15I agree. I think that every day. I'm sorry you did though. And like,
- 1:04:19the reality is like, that's like what's so frustrating about both of these topics is
- 1:04:23like, we just go in circles around the same shit
- 1:04:27over and over. And like, one is truly a piece
- 1:04:30of shit that I wish would would never get back on television again. The other
- 1:04:33one is someone I really like who I think is genuinely talented and works really—
- 1:04:36Nick Wright works hard and does good work, sort of like absolving himself.
- 1:04:41But that's where conversation— then get in the conversation. And he got himself into it,
- 1:04:44whatever. But it's like, no, get on TV on, on Monday after
- 1:04:49Game 4 on Saturday. Get on TV and talk about the ball you just watched.
- 1:04:53Teach people how to watch this sport in this league. Throw it
- 1:04:56in the You can throw it at the top of the D-block. I'm not— I,
- 1:04:59I, again, I'm, I'm old school. I still understand how this works.
- 1:05:03I don't want you to lose ratings over this. I want you to build it
- 1:05:05in so people slowly start to expect these conversations to
- 1:05:09happen, just like we do here, because I'm a great producer.
- 1:05:13You are. And I've been— Tanya does produce this show. I did.
- 1:05:17You saw my— you reposted my thing just shit-talking today.
- 1:05:20Like, went— I did my, my monthly Give my resume to a troll.
- 1:05:25I, um, it's so good. I try to repost it every time you do it.
- 1:05:28Yeah, yeah, it's one of my favorite pastimes. Yeah, my girls were very— all
- 1:05:32my people on Threads were very supportive of that one. I'm, um, when Tanya
- 1:05:37womansplains to a fucking worthless
- 1:05:40guy. Yeah, it's just— yeah,
- 1:05:44it's so great too because they're like, oh, you just fucking hate men, blah blah.
- 1:05:47And I'm like, I mean, yeah, but that's not the point. And the thing is,
- 1:05:50it's like I— she tolerates me. It's all— it's not all
- 1:05:54men, right? It's like you could just— because the men who I
- 1:05:59like get it when I tell them I hate men. Oh, by the
- 1:06:03way, Tyrone. Tyrone, what's up? Tyrone, go to fucking bed.
- 1:06:07I love you, by the way. Tyrone Johnson. They don't watch or
- 1:06:10talk about it and just use it when it's convenient for the
- 1:06:14clicks. I agree. It's net positive, though, because it shows the attention is
- 1:06:18there. It's— it shows it's happening, but happening
- 1:06:22too slow. Yeah, great. Like, 100% agree.
- 1:06:25Tyrone Johnson, by the way, those of you that don't know, Tyrone Johnson is
- 1:06:29like one of the most talented fucking guys in this industry and one of the
- 1:06:32best dudes. We love him. Fucking— I was friends with him before I even knew
- 1:06:36you knew him from social media. Like, I got lucky. We were introduced
- 1:06:39by Craig Carton. Yeah, well, because— which is funny because like the 2 people
- 1:06:43in the world that disagree with Craig Carton's takes more than anyone is me and
- 1:06:46Tyron Johnson. And Craig knows I don't like him.
- 1:06:50Craig's like, you're talking shit about me again. It's so great.
- 1:06:53You know, this is what makes the world go round. It does. You know,
- 1:06:57is people being just adjacent enough to people I like that I, that I
- 1:07:01will tolerate their existence. I mean, I assumed when I first ever messaged
- 1:07:06you, you probably just knew I was associated with Craig, so you didn't respond for
- 1:07:08like 6 months. I didn't because I didn't recognize you. Like, But I
- 1:07:13know, but that was the whole thing was like when you were on the Carton
- 1:07:15Show, I like forgot that was you. Yeah, I know. Well, I didn't look the
- 1:07:19same. Well, I looked the same but different. You looked— it's not like once I
- 1:07:22figured out, I was like, oh yeah, of course that was him. But my brain
- 1:07:25wasn't connecting it at the time. Fair. Like, well, like I didn't even know me
- 1:07:28on that show. I was allowed to talk 10% of the time. That's actually a
- 1:07:31real directive I got. I also was always— when I was working there and you
- 1:07:34were doing your show in New York, you were in LA. I was in LA.
- 1:07:37Yeah, I never had the crossover. We never— and I also never— your show was
- 1:07:40at the ass crack of— I wasn't watching that show. Shit. Like, I never fucking
- 1:07:43watched it. Trust me, I wouldn't have either. Yeah, I was like— I was
- 1:07:47on the back end of the day. I knew what it was. I was on
- 1:07:51the back end of the day. I was appreciative, but it was just like,
- 1:07:53this is fucking— I'm not watching this. Yeah, and it— and,
- 1:07:57and, uh, and at the time it really was like I was fighting a lot
- 1:08:01of battles on like the fronts I already had. So, uh,
- 1:08:05I'm glad I didn't have to deal with Craig. Craig was actually— no, Craig was
- 1:08:08actually so easy to work with. Um, well, I, I mean that like of the
- 1:08:12people I've worked with, like he was so easy. Well, especially because like that's the
- 1:08:15thing is I would not have had any, um, patience because I
- 1:08:19had to deal with everybody on Speak outside of Joy, who I liked. Speak was—
- 1:08:21I can only imagine. Like, no, the people that were a
- 1:08:25nightmare to work with there, none of them named Craig. The, the, the people— not
- 1:08:29even a single person named— not a single person named Craig. Like all the people
- 1:08:33named Craig on that show was joy to work with. No, I think it was—
- 1:08:35I'm sure Craig's nice. It was the people. He's never been— it
- 1:08:39was Ty Johnson News. Fuck, it was Zach. Fuck Zach. Ty goes, appreciate y'all.
- 1:08:43He's never been correct.
- 1:08:47I mean, he hasn't. Uh,
- 1:08:51love him the same though. No, but, uh, Phoenix Rain 2.0 said, uh, ESPN loves
- 1:08:55to delay reporting on Angels achievements. Yeah, that's like the thing is like they're just
- 1:08:59not even reporting. No, no, like they'll mention it out No, actually, that's true.
- 1:09:01You know why? Because I watched fucking SportsCenter driving into work today,
- 1:09:04right? Yeah, I always like— SportsCenter will do it. So, but here's the thing,
- 1:09:08it was in today— today, okay,
- 1:09:12no World Series game, only a Thursday Night Football game, right? A couple NBA games.
- 1:09:15It was the fucking 5th thing that came up. Not even the first segment,
- 1:09:19it was the second segment. See, this is what I'm saying. And I didn't like
- 1:09:22that because ESPN is fucking entrenched in the WNBA, and it wasn't
- 1:09:26until the second segment of fucking SportsCenter AM that
- 1:09:31I got a fucking WWE. Insane. Just letting you know that, like, that's just facts.
- 1:09:35I hate it here. She— but I'm telling you, she's undeniable.
- 1:09:39She will not be denied. No, I agree with you. I'm just telling you my
- 1:09:42experience this morning because when I drive into
- 1:09:46the morning show at like 4:30 to 4:45, I just put
- 1:09:49on SportsCenter on like YouTube TV. Yeah, it's connected to my car and I just
- 1:09:52listen to SportsCenter. They didn't fucking even get— just to like remind myself, waiting for
- 1:09:56it and you're like, it didn't happen until after a commercial break. So on
- 1:10:00fucking Friday morning SportsCenter where there's nothing fucking happened.
- 1:10:04I mean, there are, there are like truly,
- 1:10:07I know this and this is again because
- 1:10:11the media sucks. Most people I know
- 1:10:15who don't watch sports, if you ask them a WNBA player, they know
- 1:10:18Caitlin Clark or Angel Reese. Yes. That's it. That's who
- 1:10:22they know. They don't know Paige Beckers. They don't know Asia. Who knew this?
- 1:10:25This is actually really cool. Avery Sports Show says, for the record, TSN SportsCenter
- 1:10:30up here has been doing a great job and specified it great at covering
- 1:10:34WME Finals on Canadian TV. Kia Nurse as an analyst.
- 1:10:38Oh, I would. I would fucking love to see that. Must be nice.
- 1:10:41I'm not going to lie to you. We're not getting that here. We're not.
- 1:10:43And it's fucking— it's a shame. It's a legit shame.
- 1:10:47She said I'll send y'all VPNs. That's right, I have a— I have a VPN.
- 1:10:51I had one. You got to have a VPN. Well, I used it for porn.
- 1:10:54What? They don't catch on to it with your full
- 1:10:57transparency? They don't need— you don't need it for what you use. It was years
- 1:11:01ago. You use DVDs? I did
- 1:11:04use DVDs. I had a place
- 1:11:08called Odyssey Video that I used to go to on Wilshire Boulevard when I was
- 1:11:11in college. Got my Got, got the old porn DVDs. So I— my first
- 1:11:15job was at a video store, and when I was like 14,
- 1:11:19my mom's friend owned the local video store in, in Cedarville,
- 1:11:23Massachusetts. Was there like a— was there a beaded section? It— there absolutely was.
- 1:11:26Oh my God. So it was behind the counter. Rental or
- 1:11:30non-rental? What do you mean? Was it like a buying or rental spot?
- 1:11:33Rental. Okay, right. It was like a mom-and-pop— it was a mom-and-pop
- 1:11:37Blockbuster called Home Video. Same deal as just like literally
- 1:11:41a standalone little wooden building. And that's
- 1:11:45where I worked. And we sold like snacks and just like a, just like a
- 1:11:50Blockbuster, but, you know, whatever. And yes, they absolutely— I was
- 1:11:54a teenage girl who had to occasionally
- 1:11:58usually take returns.
- 1:12:04What? What was the worst thing you saw? There had to be one like just
- 1:12:08horrible. I'm not gonna lie, if I— if there was, I blocked it out.
- 1:12:11Okay. Yeah, if there was, I blocked it. They probably all actually— looking back,
- 1:12:15thinking about it now, they were in public, they were probably so fucking nice
- 1:12:18and borderline embarrassed. Yeah, well, that's the thing is like usually no one would—
- 1:12:22they probably rented 5 movies and they were always like— it was just like,
- 1:12:26oh, Shawshank! Oh, Goodfellas! Oh,
- 1:12:31New Jack City. Oh, Backdoor Sluts 4. Oh,
- 1:12:35what? Backdoor Sluts. God, it's a classic. But you have
- 1:12:40to see 4 if you're— that's the best one. Before you see
- 1:12:435, you have to see— well, you don't have to see— it's like the Fast
- 1:12:46and Furious trilogy. Yeah, exactly. Saga. It's like the Fast Saga. Well, there is,
- 1:12:49uh, the Tokyo Drift. They call it the Sluts Saga. Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 1:12:53Tokyo Drift. Yeah, Tokyo Drift. Backdoor— that's the 3rd one. But guess
- 1:12:58what? It's a prequel, yet it was the third released.
- 1:13:01Backdoor Slots 3, not Tokyo Drift.
- 1:13:05Exactly. Which was also the same thing. Who knew?
- 1:13:08Fucking parallels. By the way, I'm surprised. This is sort of like— this
- 1:13:13kind of ties into the, like, James Dolan sending a phishing scam to— oh yeah,
- 1:13:16like whatever. Where it's like, what a piece of shit, huh? I— there
- 1:13:21were people defending it. Anyone that defended that, fuck you. You're the
- 1:13:24worst. I was like, how can you fucking defend this? I couldn't— you're embarrassing—
- 1:13:29believe it. They were like, I've worked for a corporation for a little while,
- 1:13:32and actually, this is actually a regular thing that they do to teach
- 1:13:35their, uh, employees not to— I was like,
- 1:13:38no, it's not. No, it's not. No, no, no. I've also
- 1:13:41worked for corporations, and no, them baiting you
- 1:13:45into thinking you're getting— if I got that email, I'm going into
- 1:13:49my boss's office, I'm throwing my fucking laptop at his fucking head.
- 1:13:53Like, do you guys not understand? You guys are fucking insane. They are egotistical
- 1:13:57nightmares. They literally treat us like, like we
- 1:14:01are, we are peasants to them. We are peasants.
- 1:14:05And he literally was like, hey, stupid peasants.
- 1:14:09And you guys, you're still defending him. This is why you and I are never
- 1:14:13going to break through the people who don't want a salary cap, because they literally
- 1:14:16think billionaires are fine and they are Billionaires are constantly looking
- 1:14:20at us being like, we don't think you're real. We don't care about your lives.
- 1:14:24We don't care if you live or die. They actually say this out loud.
- 1:14:26Like, I really hope I'm in a room with a billionaire one day.
- 1:14:30Just me and him. I really want that.
- 1:14:34I would— what I would give to be in a room alone with Elon Musk.
- 1:14:37Oh my God. I would— I would never.
- 1:14:41That's scary. No, it's not. It would be. Yeah, it would be scary.
- 1:14:45Yeah. Not for me. Because your whole body is hard and muscly. You could beat
- 1:14:48him up. I'm scared. I could beat— you can beat him up.
- 1:14:52You're right. Are you fucking kidding me? I could beat him up. You're right.
- 1:14:55Unquestionably, you could beat the living fuck
- 1:14:59out of Elon Musk. But he— if
- 1:15:03he's on ketamine, you don't know, because he could have that weird drugged up— I
- 1:15:06want him on it. I'll give him all the ketamine he wants. I want him
- 1:15:08to have that drugged up strength. Give, give, take. He can inject himself
- 1:15:12with the fucking Hulk serum. I don't give Fuck. You guys don't understand,
- 1:15:16Cody is so jacked. Like, I know he looks
- 1:15:20jacked, but like, it's— it's— his whole body is like hard.
- 1:15:24No, so here's the thing, that's why I also wear the glasses. You got to
- 1:15:27understand, tattoos, uh, beard, bald— listen,
- 1:15:32I, I know what I look like. I'm aware. Aware.
- 1:15:36You— what did you say the other day? You look like you— you, you were—
- 1:15:38you were trying to say that I was attractive, and I said no, I'm not.
- 1:15:41People, when I walk in the room, he's like, no, when you walk in the
- 1:15:44room, people turn heads. Yes, because they're trying to— they think I'm getting
- 1:15:48ready to storm the Capitol. Yeah, I was saying, no, people notice you. Like,
- 1:15:51when we're out and about, people are looking, and you're like, yeah, because they think
- 1:15:53I'm gonna storm the Capitol. That's what they think. They look at me like,
- 1:15:56ah, motherfucker, fucking Proud Boys are in town, fuck. But I'm not.
- 1:16:00I'm exactly the opposite. I just look like it. I know someday I'm gonna be
- 1:16:03out and someone's gonna be like, I saw Tiny Ray Fox with a white supremacist.
- 1:16:06No, he was a Jew. They're like,
- 1:16:10well, they're after him too. Sometimes it's hard to tell these days. I mean,
- 1:16:14that is true. But no, don't let the— don't let the, the, the, the,
- 1:16:18the, the, the baggy threads fool you. Daddy's jacked. Yeah, I just— he's hiding
- 1:16:22it really well. But he could definitely— we could all— we could both definitely beat
- 1:16:27up Elon Musk. I would actually— I would— it would be like one of those
- 1:16:30videos. I mean, we could beat up Mark Zuckerberg for sure.
- 1:16:33Yeah. I mean, he's easy. Well, me, he's not even— you can do it.
- 1:16:36Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That's what I'm saying. We Like, I mean, I don't
- 1:16:39think there's a billionaire— is there a billionaire out there that's— oh, Steve Ballmer seems
- 1:16:43like he could be hard to take down. You know what, he's got some reach.
- 1:16:45He's a bit tall, and I've seen him dance. He does that weird, like,
- 1:16:48there's like a lot of limbs going a lot of directions. I think I could
- 1:16:52end Robert Kraft with what, like, with a one switch? Would take nothing. He would
- 1:16:56turn into dust. Like, blow him like a dandelion. He would turn into literal fucking
- 1:17:00dust. So that's same with Terry Jones. Oh God, all the old ones.
- 1:17:03Skeletor. Yeah, with Fucking weird. Are there any like jacked billionaires?
- 1:17:07I can't think of any. Are we missing a jacked billionaire,
- 1:17:11guys? Guys, can you think of a jacked billionaire? The only billionaire I don't want
- 1:17:13to beat up is— is Dana White a billionaire? He might be.
- 1:17:18He seems like pretty jacked. He's pretty jacked, but he's not as big as you
- 1:17:21think. No, he's short. He's— he's— him and Joe Rogan are both short, right?
- 1:17:25No, no. So he's not— he's not short, but he's not tall either.
- 1:17:29Joe Rogan's short. Yeah, he's like Joe Rogan's fucking right here.
- 1:17:325'6. Um, he's— no, like, I, I remember when I met
- 1:17:36Dana, he was almost exact. He was similar to my— I'm bigger than him,
- 1:17:40but he's like my size. So you— but do you think you could beat up
- 1:17:43Dana White? Yes. Okay. All right, well then I think that's talking about— well,
- 1:17:46I don't, I don't know. I haven't seen him. You're the one who's seen him.
- 1:17:48I was asking you. I bought— I, I box. Okay, I'm so sorry.
- 1:17:52Very strong. And oh my God, no, you could definitely— you could literally beat up
- 1:17:56anyone, Cody. I could— no, that's not true. No, you could totally beat up anybody.
- 1:17:59Beat people up. And also, to beat me, you have to kill
- 1:18:03me. That's actually probably true. If he's gonna do—
- 1:18:07go out, if I'm gonna fight you, I'm fighting you to the death. Um,
- 1:18:10no, we've been totally normal. I don't fight. I don't want to fight. Fighting's stupid.
- 1:18:14Um, the— I'm really proud of everybody who showed up for this very late
- 1:18:18show, by the way. Like, I'm actually blown away with the people that showed up.
- 1:18:21Oh my God, Juanita said you do have a little bit of a J6 look
- 1:18:25to you, Cody. I do. I know. I'm sorry, dude. I can't— that's— it's not
- 1:18:29me though. You have to understand. Is it
- 1:18:32Janita or Juanita? Uh, Juanita. Juanita.
- 1:18:36Yeah, this is— this— this is my dad's doing. Like,
- 1:18:40actually, take it back, it's my mom's doing. My mom allowed my father
- 1:18:45to have a child with her, and now this is what I look like.
- 1:18:48Yeah, it's fucking dog shit. Yeah, it's awful. Nobody likes it. Everybody hates
- 1:18:53it. She said I was January 6th-y. That's,
- 1:18:56that's not great, but, but it's before
- 1:19:00people get to know you. As soon as you open your mouth,
- 1:19:04it's very clear. Which is what I always hope when, when, when, when my love
- 1:19:08talks to her parents. What is he like? He looks January 6th-y,
- 1:19:12but once you get to know him— once you get to know him, um,
- 1:19:16just so you know, Avery said, um, that the that you don't have
- 1:19:20a chance against The Rock if he becomes a billionaire. So I think we agree
- 1:19:23with that. He's much taller. He's very big. That's the thing. He's like 6'5 and
- 1:19:26like— no, he's like 6'3, but I mean, that's enough. He's big. No, but he's
- 1:19:30small though. He's thin now. He's not fucking thin enough for you to beat him
- 1:19:34up, Cody. Come on. He's pretty small. He's old. He's old. He is getting old.
- 1:19:38Uh-oh. Hold on. Uh-oh. Hold on. Cena?
- 1:19:42My— I don't think Cena could fight. He's from
- 1:19:46Massachusetts, of course he can fight. Oh, you know what, good point. He is a
- 1:19:49Boston guy. Yeah, he probably could fight. No, he scrapped. He definitely scrapped as a
- 1:19:52kid. I mean, do you remember how he used to act when he was younger?
- 1:19:55But he used to— oh, you're right, the old fucking— yeah,
- 1:19:58that like, yeah, like Southie Wahlberg vibe, you know? Yeah, yeah, he definitely,
- 1:20:03he definitely did. I actually don't— I'm not positive that like,
- 1:20:06that like— he was actually a really good rapper, by the way. Like kind of
- 1:20:10underappreciated because there is a I actually have a John Cena song in
- 1:20:14my iTunes. Yeah. It's called Bad Man. It's actually a good fucking jammin' song.
- 1:20:19There was a good Shaq rap song when we were younger, too. Was there?
- 1:20:21Really? I can't remember what it was, but I didn't hate it. It wasn't as
- 1:20:24good as Cena's, I don't think, but I do remember that. Uh, we were going
- 1:20:28through a phase where our most famous people were rapping.
- 1:20:32Not that badly, either. Yeah. Some of 'em. Oh,
- 1:20:36well, yeah, some were— Well, Aaron Pierre is obviously the best. There's Pierre.
- 1:20:40He was— that pivot was elite. Thank God he
- 1:20:44went into acting. That being said, speak up, speak up. It's my
- 1:20:48favorite. Yeah, no, it's really good. He's really good. And now I miss— now
- 1:20:51I miss John. I want Lanterns back. All right, well, we did it. We did
- 1:20:55it, guys. Late night show. And by the way, just truly, I mean this from
- 1:20:59the bottom of my heart, uh, what a phenomenal turnout
- 1:21:03tonight. Yeah, like, uh, obviously not our biggest turnout,
- 1:21:07but like the turnout that we had tonight, we didn't deserve,
- 1:21:10especially starting as late as we did. And a lot of you people are on
- 1:21:13the East Coast that decided to join us really late night. So guys,
- 1:21:17fucking love you. Yeah, we, we noticed everybody
- 1:21:22who showed up tonight and it does not go unappreciated.
- 1:21:26Um, Cody and I, we, we're loyal. Yeah, you guys
- 1:21:29are gonna find out. And we, um, we're, we're now like we're
- 1:21:33just embarking on a new, um, kind of— stuff's
- 1:21:38happening— a new kind of segment for our show.
- 1:21:42Like, we're gonna start doing some new shit that I'm really excited about.
- 1:21:46And, um, guys, uh, the pirate ship is gonna
- 1:21:50continue. Once we have income from this show, you guys have no idea what we're
- 1:21:53gonna be doing. It's gonna be great. And we are there, we're there. We are
- 1:21:56officially— send it to people. We've got ads stuff now. We've got,
- 1:21:59you know, um, subscriptions, whatever. So we haven't done it yet,
- 1:22:03but we've talked about maybe a store of some kind. Maybe we do have some
- 1:22:07merch out. We gotta get some merch out. We do. Um, that might be a
- 1:22:092027 launch type thing, post-holiday, whatever. But merch has gotta
- 1:22:14happen, 100%. But, uh, guys, you know what we will do too? What's up?
- 1:22:17Subscribers and sort of our OGs definitely get a say on some
- 1:22:21merch. Oh no, you guys, in terms of like even us making it, like what
- 1:22:24what you guys want. Uh, cannot stress this enough. And we want you to be
- 1:22:28a part of all of it. Like, truly, like, Tanya is the
- 1:22:31actual producer of this show, but kind of so are you guys as well.
- 1:22:35Yeah, absolutely. We, um, we're, we're spoiled.
- 1:22:39We, we love this and we love you guys. And, you know, this is the
- 1:22:42best. And we mildly tolerate each other, so everything's going well.
- 1:22:45Yeah, I wouldn't— I would never tell you that you're my favorite fucking
- 1:22:49person. No, you'd never tell me that. I would, I would just have to infer
- 1:22:53it somehow. I would never. I can tell you right now what doesn't make
- 1:22:57me feel like your favorite. Um, is he dead? Nope.
- 1:23:00He's alive? He's still alive. Until then, until he's dead.
- 1:23:04Fuck Kurt Schilling. Fuck Kurt Schilling. My shirt's wet.
