Speaker 1: Welcome to Dirty Rush, The Truth about Sorority Life with
0:04
Speaker 1: your hosts me Gia Judce.
0:06
Speaker 2: Daisy Kent, and Jennifer Kessler.
0:11
Speaker 1: Hey guys, and welcome back to another episode of Dirty Rush.
0:14
Speaker 2: I'm Gia jud Dice, I'm Jen Kessler, and.
0:17
Speaker 1: We have another exciting guest.
0:19
Speaker 2: You certainly do we have another sorority coach?
0:22
Speaker 1: Oh, Leslie? Leslie? Am I gonna like you?
0:25
Speaker 2: Or am I gonna hate you? I think that is
0:28
Speaker 2: actually a very fair question, Miss Gia. I think this
0:32
Speaker 2: is this is a new concept, right at least for us.
0:35
Speaker 2: Maybe not at the University of Alabama maybe, but for us,
0:38
Speaker 2: this is new. You had a college advisor, Yes, I
0:42
Speaker 2: paid for a college advisor. I don't know that I
0:44
Speaker 2: would ever pay for a sorority coach. I don't know
0:47
Speaker 2: if you would ever employ one.
0:49
Speaker 1: No, definitely not.
0:50
Speaker 2: So we're going to be open, Yeah, right, I want to.
0:53
Speaker 1: Ask her what schools she predominantly works for?
0:56
Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, she wouldn't work for the school. But which
1:00
Speaker 2: who needs her the most?
1:01
Speaker 1: Yeah? Which campus? Yeah?
1:02
Speaker 2: Her name is Leslie Cunningham.
1:04
Speaker 1: She's from Texas.
1:05
Speaker 2: She's from Texas. On that surprise, that is, I went
1:08
Speaker 2: to school in Texas. That is the land of Greek life.
1:12
Speaker 2: Let's bring her, let's bring her in. Hello, Hi, Leslie, Hi, Hi,
1:17
Speaker 2: thank you so much for joining us.
1:20
Speaker 1: Sure, all right, So I guess we're gonna kind of
1:23
Speaker 1: get into it. So this is dirty rush. We are
1:27
Speaker 1: talking about all the ins and ounce of sorority life.
1:30
Speaker 1: And I think a sorority coach is something that is
1:34
Speaker 1: new to my knowledge. I went to Rutgers University, I
1:39
Speaker 1: rushed in greek life, I was in Zada, but I
1:43
Speaker 1: have never heard of a sorority coach before.
1:48
Speaker 2: Yeah, I am. I've actually now done an interview with
1:53
Speaker 2: or done the pod with another sorority coach. She didn't
1:56
Speaker 2: want to be called a coach. She wanted to be
1:59
Speaker 2: called a consultant. I don't get it. I don't know
2:01
Speaker 2: what the difference is. You go by coach or consultant
2:04
Speaker 2: or you know what, they're interchange They're interchangeable, okay, And
2:08
Speaker 2: I just want to like even the playing field. We're
2:11
Speaker 2: a little skeptical but also open, and we have heard
2:16
Speaker 2: some really nice things about you and your approach, and
2:21
Speaker 2: so you know, please tell us what you do, how
2:25
Speaker 2: you do it, how it all works.
2:27
Speaker 1: Sure.
2:27
Speaker 3: Yeah, and there is I think a lot of skepticism
2:30
Speaker 3: about this role and kind of what coaches do. But yeah,
2:35
Speaker 3: I started my business already prep in twenty fifteen out
2:39
Speaker 3: of the need from moms and girls who are going
2:42
Speaker 3: to be going through the recruitment process and just wanted
2:45
Speaker 3: help on how to navigate it. And so that's really
2:49
Speaker 3: what I do, is I just kind of step in
2:52
Speaker 3: to where the girls are in their nerves and questions
2:56
Speaker 3: and curiosity and just help them to understand everything that
2:59
Speaker 3: it's going to entail when they decide to, you know,
3:03
Speaker 3: embark on this journey. There's a lot of moving parts
3:06
Speaker 3: these days with sorority recruitment, so really my job is
3:10
Speaker 3: just to kind of help them understand what to expect
3:14
Speaker 3: and how to be themselves and showcase that in a
3:17
Speaker 3: way that will help them to put their best foot
3:19
Speaker 3: forward and confidently stand out amongst the masses. Because nowadays
3:24
Speaker 3: there are hundreds, if not thousands of women who want
3:27
Speaker 3: to be a part of Greek life, which is wonderful,
3:29
Speaker 3: but it can also be a little intimidating for maybe
3:32
Speaker 3: someone who has never tried something like this before.
3:35
Speaker 1: So what schools or yeah, I guess schools not so
3:40
Speaker 1: what schools predominantly like ask you to coach them.
3:48
Speaker 4: Yeah, so that's a great question.
3:50
Speaker 3: I am typically am working with a lot of women
3:53
Speaker 3: who are going through recruitment in the South. Obviously the
3:57
Speaker 3: process is a little bit you know, more challenging in
4:02
Speaker 3: terms of the ins and outs of what these girls
4:05
Speaker 3: are expected to kind of have prepared and there's you know,
4:09
Speaker 3: the P and M videos, and there's the outfits and
4:12
Speaker 3: getting prepared for the parties themselves. But I do I
4:16
Speaker 3: am now having more and more women from the Northeast.
4:19
Speaker 4: Like I have a client this year.
4:20
Speaker 3: She's going to Columbia, and her mom, you know, just
4:23
Speaker 3: really wants to make sure she understands what she's stepping into.
4:26
Speaker 4: She has a lot of more plate with school.
4:29
Speaker 3: And academics, and so it just makes sense to find
4:31
Speaker 3: a landing spot for these girls in a social setting too.
4:35
Speaker 2: Yeah, that makes sense. Leslie. Our producer told us that
4:39
Speaker 2: you actually focus on mental health, which I was I
4:44
Speaker 2: was thrilled to hear because I think that's probably so necessary.
4:47
Speaker 2: Do you have some education? Are you a mental health
4:52
Speaker 2: provider in your other life?
4:56
Speaker 3: So I actually, in doing this for ten years, I
5:00
Speaker 3: really start to I really started to kind of feel
5:03
Speaker 3: the pressure from both moms and daughters to have more
5:07
Speaker 3: of a more resourceful place for them to come when
5:12
Speaker 3: they were facing some of these difficult challenges.
5:14
Speaker 4: And so this.
5:15
Speaker 3: Last year I partnered with three mental health specialists, their counselors.
5:19
Speaker 4: This is what they do.
5:20
Speaker 3: They work in the Collegiate Women's Space, and we have
5:24
Speaker 3: created a program. They are working with my clients separately
5:29
Speaker 3: along with moms to help them sort of navigate how
5:32
Speaker 3: to support their daughters, but then for the women to
5:35
Speaker 3: give them the tools and resources they need to really
5:38
Speaker 3: be able to handle a lot of the challenges. You know,
5:40
Speaker 3: recruitment has some rejection built into it, and so unfortunately
5:46
Speaker 3: sometimes this can be the first time for some of
5:48
Speaker 3: these women to have rejection in their life, and so
5:51
Speaker 3: we are really just there to help them understand.
5:54
Speaker 4: This is normal.
5:55
Speaker 3: You're going to have some of these feelings. You're going
5:57
Speaker 3: to have some of this anxiety, these hesitations. It's part
6:00
Speaker 3: of going off to college in a new place and
6:03
Speaker 3: being far away from home and outside your comfort zone.
6:05
Speaker 3: And so here are some ways that you can, you know,
6:09
Speaker 3: prepare yourself and help you to kind of move through
6:11
Speaker 3: the process in the most healthy way.
6:13
Speaker 2: Yeah, it's a little daunting to think that that women,
6:18
Speaker 2: young women need mental health help just to go through
6:23
Speaker 2: this process. Right, Like, and I was in a sorority,
6:26
Speaker 2: and obviously Gia was as well, and we've had a
6:28
Speaker 2: lot of wonderful experiences, both of us, and I'm sure
6:31
Speaker 2: you have as well. But there is something about this
6:33
Speaker 2: process that just seems to me, and more today than
6:38
Speaker 2: back in the day, because they're social media, but just
6:41
Speaker 2: inherently anxiety provoking. And as a coach, I'm glad to
6:48
Speaker 2: hear that you're you know, you're actually dealing with that
6:52
Speaker 2: and addressing it. I'm curious in terms of, like what
6:56
Speaker 2: you do outside of that so and how much of
6:59
Speaker 2: it is superficial, like take this off your social media,
7:03
Speaker 2: wear this, this with your hair this. I've even heard
7:07
Speaker 2: that coaches sometimes recommend certain tanning approaches self tanner to
7:13
Speaker 2: I don't know, tell us.
7:14
Speaker 1: Yeah, no, I was going to ask you along the
7:17
Speaker 1: same lines, like, so, going into sorority rush, say a
7:22
Speaker 1: girl approaches you and she is really set on getting
7:27
Speaker 1: into this one sorority and it's top tier, it's super
7:31
Speaker 1: difficult to get into. But maybe she doesn't have their
7:38
Speaker 1: quote unquote criteria or stereotypical view that they usually accept
7:43
Speaker 1: into their sorority. Do you feel comfortable physically changing like
7:48
Speaker 1: their entire image and personality or do you recommend to them, Okay,
7:53
Speaker 1: maybe this isn't the right option for you, to like
7:56
Speaker 1: better their mental health rather than completely changing their person
8:00
Speaker 1: at eighteen years old.
8:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think that's a great question, and something I
8:05
Speaker 3: think both girls and moms really struggle with is having
8:10
Speaker 3: a mindset that they want a certain thing. I approach
8:14
Speaker 3: that a little different. When I start working with a client,
8:17
Speaker 3: I really want to understand who she is first, because
8:20
Speaker 3: I think these girls need to have the self confidence
8:24
Speaker 3: in who they are. Because you can wear all the
8:27
Speaker 3: designer outfits you want, you can have your hair done
8:30
Speaker 3: in a certain way, you can go and get the
8:31
Speaker 3: tan that you want, but that is a lot to
8:34
Speaker 3: keep up with once you join authority, and you're not
8:37
Speaker 3: joining for the people, you're joining just for the letters.
8:40
Speaker 3: And so really my approach when I'm working with a
8:43
Speaker 3: client is to understand, we want you to find your people.
8:46
Speaker 3: Who you are and how you are is not going
8:48
Speaker 3: to change immediately once you get to college. So you
8:52
Speaker 3: need to understand what are the things that are important
8:54
Speaker 3: to you. What are some of these things in terms
8:56
Speaker 3: of friendships and that sense of belonging that you're really
9:00
Speaker 3: looking for. So that when you go and you're meeting
9:02
Speaker 3: with these different sorority women or you're having these conversations,
9:06
Speaker 3: you should be able to sort of navigate and find
9:09
Speaker 3: your people. It should be a natural part of the process.
9:12
Speaker 3: And that's how it's built in these days as far as.
9:15
Speaker 4: Recruitment is concerned.
9:16
Speaker 3: And so if a woman is very set on one thing,
9:21
Speaker 3: I do explain to them there are going to be limitations.
9:24
Speaker 3: Not every sobrity has a spot for every single girl,
9:27
Speaker 3: and so this may not go the exact way that
9:30
Speaker 3: you want it to go, but you need to be
9:32
Speaker 3: open to the options you have. There is no bad
9:35
Speaker 3: sorority on any campus. It's really your perception. And if
9:39
Speaker 3: you are going into it to try to find the
9:41
Speaker 3: right people and to make those friendships in those connections
9:44
Speaker 3: you're going to you're going to land where you should land.
9:47
Speaker 2: Yeah, Leslie, I'm going to have to like actually hone
9:51
Speaker 2: in on this because I can't imagine that you don't
9:54
Speaker 2: also coach on where this hair like this. I'm sure
9:59
Speaker 2: that's part of it, right.
10:00
Speaker 4: Yeah, absolutely.
10:02
Speaker 3: There is a component of I think too, you want
10:05
Speaker 3: to present your best self. Just like today, I didn't
10:07
Speaker 3: want to jump on here. You know, I'm at a
10:09
Speaker 3: beach resort. I'm not going to jump on here in
10:11
Speaker 3: my baby too cover and you know, just hope that
10:15
Speaker 3: I look great. I'm going to take the time to
10:17
Speaker 3: make a good first impression. It's important to me. And
10:20
Speaker 3: so these women also need to have the self confidence.
10:23
Speaker 3: I'm really hoping that, like by going through the recruitment process,
10:27
Speaker 3: these women are well prepared to then go and try
10:30
Speaker 3: out for an organization on campus, if that's a student
10:33
Speaker 3: leadership position, or maybe they're going to go out and
10:35
Speaker 3: try to find an internship that's very competitive. They want
10:38
Speaker 3: to be able to have that skill set and then
10:41
Speaker 3: go and launch into finding a job. And so if
10:44
Speaker 3: they can't understand how to prepare for those types of
10:48
Speaker 3: things in a competitive environment, you know, life is it
10:51
Speaker 3: shoots a lot of things at us, and so we
10:53
Speaker 3: have to be prepared in all of these different facets
10:56
Speaker 3: and having your confidence, whether that's in your appearance and
11:01
Speaker 3: just being able to kind of present yourself. You know,
11:04
Speaker 3: these girls are very savvy and they understand that that
11:07
Speaker 3: is part of it. Social media is part of it,
11:09
Speaker 3: and your your first impression does make a big depth.
11:12
Speaker 2: So what do you tell them in terms of do
11:15
Speaker 2: you have specifics in terms of tanning, in terms of makeup,
11:18
Speaker 2: are you saying to them, not a spray tan, make
11:20
Speaker 2: sure your arms are Do you do all of that?
11:24
Speaker 1: Yeah?
11:24
Speaker 3: I mean I talk them through. You know what is
11:26
Speaker 3: their typical? Like what makes you feel good about yourself?
11:29
Speaker 4: Is that having a tan?
11:31
Speaker 3: You know, I have some clients that don't want good
11:33
Speaker 3: with a spray tan, and so I'm not going to
11:35
Speaker 3: encourage them to go and do that, but I do
11:37
Speaker 3: think taking the time. Like I had a client this
11:39
Speaker 3: last year. She is not someone who wears a lot
11:42
Speaker 3: of makeup, and I told her, I'm like, just go
11:43
Speaker 3: and get a little makeover and just see how you
11:46
Speaker 3: feel after you have that experience, because sometimes I think
11:50
Speaker 3: it is about the newness of trying something and you know,
11:54
Speaker 3: if it.
11:55
Speaker 4: Helps you to slap on a little lip gloss and
11:57
Speaker 4: feel good, then that's what we want.
11:59
Speaker 3: We don't want you walking because there is going to
12:01
Speaker 3: be that comparison when they're standing in line waiting to
12:04
Speaker 3: walk into that sorority and they're looking around and they're
12:07
Speaker 3: seeing all these girls who are putting forth a lot
12:09
Speaker 3: of effort. You don't want to feel like you showed
12:12
Speaker 3: up and didn't know that you were supposed to do that.
12:15
Speaker 1: Definitely effort. But I also feel while you're rushing and
12:18
Speaker 1: going through this sorority process that you're also fully entitled
12:23
Speaker 1: and allowed to show your natural beauty. So I feel
12:27
Speaker 1: like spray tands and making yourself almost nearly orange or
12:33
Speaker 1: you know, getting a full face of makeup for sorority
12:37
Speaker 1: rush does seem a bit excessive. I fully believe that
12:42
Speaker 1: you can put your makeup on and you know, learn
12:46
Speaker 1: how to do your makeup naturally, but I just feel
12:49
Speaker 1: like I'm getting visions of toddlers and tierras right now,
12:53
Speaker 1: and I just feel like this is a bit excessive
12:57
Speaker 1: for sorority rush. And I guess maybe, uh, this is
13:01
Speaker 1: a cliche of me to say, because I didn't you know,
13:04
Speaker 1: obviously rush in the South. But I also feel like
13:10
Speaker 1: showing your natural beauty and having that also shine through
13:14
Speaker 1: is something that's really important. And it's like, is that
13:17
Speaker 1: something that you instill as well?
13:19
Speaker 2: And too?
13:21
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think I think each individual woman has, you know,
13:25
Speaker 3: how she views herself and and part of what I
13:28
Speaker 3: think is difficult when you're preparing for sorority recruitment is
13:31
Speaker 3: understanding that who you are and you know what you
13:35
Speaker 3: look like and how you present yourself. And I really
13:38
Speaker 3: try to coach clients through not just the outer beauty,
13:41
Speaker 3: but also what you're saying and how you say. It
13:44
Speaker 3: matters too, because these young collegiate women who are making
13:47
Speaker 3: the decisions about who to invite into their membership, they're
13:50
Speaker 3: really paying attention to these conversations and what you're saying.
13:55
Speaker 4: And so if you're going in there, and like you mentioned.
13:58
Speaker 3: Before, if you have this attitude of like, this is
14:00
Speaker 3: where I want to be and I'm not going to
14:02
Speaker 3: have a gracious, open attitude to everyone else, you know
14:05
Speaker 3: that could that can really hinder your experience. And I
14:09
Speaker 3: think to take away from like you were saying, that
14:12
Speaker 3: outer beauty that we want these girls to emulate is
14:16
Speaker 3: you know, who they really are should be able to
14:18
Speaker 3: shine through, whether that's in those conversations or on their
14:23
Speaker 3: social media.
14:23
Speaker 4: I think that that should be reflected in both places.
14:26
Speaker 3: It shouldn't feel like there is a real disconnect between
14:30
Speaker 3: who they are on social media and who they're presenting
14:32
Speaker 3: themselves to be in the recruitment.
14:34
Speaker 1: Also giving them tips on you know, etiquacy and mannerisms.
14:38
Speaker 2: Yes, what about the social media of it all? So
14:55
Speaker 2: do you scrub their social media? And what are you
14:57
Speaker 2: looking for? I don't want to. This is not a
15:01
Speaker 2: paid session, so I don't want to take I don't
15:03
Speaker 2: want to just steal all your tips. But I'm interested
15:05
Speaker 2: in what do you look for and what do you
15:08
Speaker 2: tell them to get rid of?
15:10
Speaker 4: Yeah, that's a great question.
15:12
Speaker 3: So I really come to it from a perspective of
15:14
Speaker 3: what I know the sorority women are looking for. And
15:17
Speaker 3: so when I'm looking at a client social media, I
15:20
Speaker 3: want to be able to see all of the things
15:22
Speaker 3: reflected and what she's shared with me. So what she's
15:25
Speaker 3: passionate about, what she's interested in, things she's involved in,
15:29
Speaker 3: where she's connected in her community, whether that's through her family,
15:33
Speaker 3: her friends, all the activities that she's involved in. If
15:36
Speaker 3: there's a lot of you know, these selfies or just
15:39
Speaker 3: a lot of really focused individual attention that she's putting
15:44
Speaker 3: out there, you know, that can also be perceived in
15:47
Speaker 3: a negative way by some of the sororities. So they
15:49
Speaker 3: want to see, you know, your friend groups. They want
15:51
Speaker 3: to see your activities, how you're spending your time. So
15:54
Speaker 3: with clients, I really work with them to understand. You know,
15:57
Speaker 3: this is sort of like a pr campaign still recruitment,
16:01
Speaker 3: So we want to make sure that we're really promoting
16:03
Speaker 3: you in the best way to give you the best shot,
16:06
Speaker 3: so these girls can get to know you and see
16:08
Speaker 3: you for who you are rather than just this beautiful, curated,
16:13
Speaker 3: you know, very selective types of photos.
16:16
Speaker 4: Because again, if they meet you.
16:18
Speaker 3: In person, that's not going to be necessarily things that
16:21
Speaker 3: you're probably going to be able to connect with them about.
16:23
Speaker 2: I'm sorry I mean to interrupt, but I'm just curious.
16:25
Speaker 2: What about the girls that don't have a lot of friends,
16:28
Speaker 2: that weren't popular in high school and that you know,
16:32
Speaker 2: maybe their social media is awkward, and how do you
16:37
Speaker 2: what do you do in those occasions?
16:39
Speaker 3: Yeah, so you know that that comes up, and that's
16:42
Speaker 3: something that on an individual basis, I do work with clients.
16:46
Speaker 3: I provide them sort of like a roadmap. Okay, I
16:48
Speaker 3: see that you don't have a ton of posts in here,
16:50
Speaker 3: and so girls are going to look at this and
16:52
Speaker 3: either go, huh, is this someone who is you know,
16:57
Speaker 3: not very involved, like you said, or doesn't have a
16:59
Speaker 3: huge community, and so we want to sort of help
17:02
Speaker 3: them to see opportunities, and so we kind of go
17:05
Speaker 3: through ways that they can moving forward, depending on when
17:09
Speaker 3: I start working with them, how they can start putting
17:12
Speaker 3: things out there so that girls can get to know them.
17:14
Speaker 3: Because really, the sororities are using the social media to
17:17
Speaker 3: sort of have some touch points, whether that's reaching out
17:21
Speaker 3: to girls before recruitment starts, or even right before they
17:24
Speaker 3: jump into a party and have a conversation with a woman.
17:26
Speaker 3: They may go and look at her social media and see, oh,
17:29
Speaker 3: I see she just got back from a trip with
17:31
Speaker 3: her family, and so these will be great things that
17:33
Speaker 3: I can talk.
17:34
Speaker 4: To her about.
17:35
Speaker 2: A lot of the soorties I'm thinking are looking at
17:38
Speaker 2: social media and looking at what the girl looks like physically,
17:43
Speaker 2: what boys are surrounding her. I mean, I just think
17:45
Speaker 2: that's probably a very big part of it. So are
17:49
Speaker 2: you ever saying to these girls, listen, you know, find
17:54
Speaker 2: some people to take a picture with, find a cute boy.
17:57
Speaker 2: I mean that, And it's just honest, like I know,
18:00
Speaker 2: trying to help these girls get into sororities. And I'm
18:02
Speaker 2: wondering if you do have to give advice like that.
18:05
Speaker 3: I typically don't because again, I'm not going from the
18:09
Speaker 3: perspective of like we need to create this fake world.
18:13
Speaker 3: I really wanted to feel authentic and I want it
18:16
Speaker 3: to be them. So I think if there are some
18:18
Speaker 3: of those awkward moments in their instagram where I see
18:21
Speaker 3: something that might again how the sororities are going to
18:24
Speaker 3: perceive it is really where I'm providing that feedback to
18:28
Speaker 3: these women to say, hey, look, this may be something
18:32
Speaker 3: that you might just want to archive for a little
18:34
Speaker 3: while and then you can bring it back later on.
18:36
Speaker 3: But let's try to focus on some of these other
18:39
Speaker 3: areas that I know you have going on and that
18:41
Speaker 3: would be really great to highlight instead.
18:43
Speaker 1: On average, how much do you charge to you know,
18:48
Speaker 1: bring these girls through this process and how long typically
18:51
Speaker 1: are you training these girls for.
18:54
Speaker 3: Yeah, so I can start working with a client as
18:57
Speaker 3: early as you know, November December with August recruitment, so
19:01
Speaker 3: it's a pretty long runway that I usually try to
19:05
Speaker 3: work with a client. Again, I'm trying to get to
19:06
Speaker 3: know her, I'm trying to really help coach her through
19:09
Speaker 3: the processes. She has enough time but my program can
19:13
Speaker 3: really depend on kind of what the client wants. But
19:16
Speaker 3: upwards of you know, thousands of dollars just because there
19:20
Speaker 3: is it's a lot of just that one on one
19:23
Speaker 3: personalized coaching for clients that I'm providing.
19:27
Speaker 2: Yeah, so you charge also hourly like people? Is it
19:31
Speaker 2: because you want to yell?
19:32
Speaker 3: I do, So I'll do an hourly option, or I
19:35
Speaker 3: have just a set program that they can go through
19:38
Speaker 3: that includes everything, so they can just kind of jump
19:42
Speaker 3: in on that.
19:43
Speaker 1: So the set program is probably less than a year,
19:46
Speaker 1: a little less than a year worth of training. So
19:49
Speaker 1: how much does that full program cost?
19:51
Speaker 4: Yeah, so it's around three thousand dollars.
19:54
Speaker 2: Okay, So what happens when one of the girls that
19:57
Speaker 2: you're working with pays you the three thousand dollars and
20:00
Speaker 2: doesn't get in anywhere?
20:02
Speaker 3: Yeah, I really have not had a client that, you know,
20:07
Speaker 3: I think there's twofolds. So there are girls that start
20:11
Speaker 3: this process and decide WHOA this is a lot I
20:13
Speaker 3: don't know if I can do this, I don't know
20:15
Speaker 3: if I want to do this, and so they self
20:16
Speaker 3: select out and that I think is something that again
20:20
Speaker 3: everyone's journey is different, and so how they get there,
20:23
Speaker 3: it may just be a little bit of a different route.
20:25
Speaker 3: And then I have other clients that you know, are
20:28
Speaker 3: gonna go through the process, They're going to really give
20:31
Speaker 3: it a fear shot, and they then they end up
20:33
Speaker 3: joining a sorority. So there isn't really a place where
20:37
Speaker 3: I find clients get to the end and decide, ooh,
20:40
Speaker 3: I definitely put my money back on. This isn't what
20:43
Speaker 3: I thought it was going to be, because again I'm
20:45
Speaker 3: trying to prepare them.
20:46
Speaker 2: I mean, I'm sure some of your clients didn't get
20:49
Speaker 2: into a sorority, right, No.
20:51
Speaker 3: I mean I have clients that will go through the
20:55
Speaker 3: freshman process, so the first, you know, beginning of their semester,
20:59
Speaker 3: they'll go through recruitment, and like I said, they decide
21:02
Speaker 3: this needs either too much for me or I'm going
21:05
Speaker 3: to take a break from this, and then they can
21:06
Speaker 3: also I work with them to go through what's called
21:09
Speaker 3: the continuous open bidding process, so that's after formal recruitment.
21:12
Speaker 3: It's a more informal process, and so they end up
21:15
Speaker 3: joining that way. I also have clients that come to
21:18
Speaker 3: me that are not freshmen. They're upperclassmen, women who maybe
21:21
Speaker 3: were on campus kind of observed Greek life and thought
21:24
Speaker 3: I don't really want to be involved and then decide, hey,
21:26
Speaker 3: I think I want to do this and end up
21:29
Speaker 3: coming and wanting to jump in in their sophomore junior year.
21:33
Speaker 1: Well what if they don't say they okay, they get
21:35
Speaker 1: into a sorority, but they don't get into at least
21:38
Speaker 1: one of the top three.
21:40
Speaker 3: So I think perception of what is top is really important.
21:44
Speaker 3: And again that's part of what I'm trying to help
21:47
Speaker 3: clients understand. You know, what your best friend thinks is
21:51
Speaker 3: top isn't necessarily what you probably are going to.
21:54
Speaker 4: Think is top, or you could.
21:55
Speaker 3: I mean it just the hints, but you really have
21:58
Speaker 3: to focus in on who the people are and where
22:01
Speaker 3: you feel like you belong, because if you're just focused
22:04
Speaker 3: on what you consider top or the best or top
22:07
Speaker 3: tier or any of that, I think you really miss
22:10
Speaker 3: out on finding people that you can have.
22:14
Speaker 4: A true sisterhood with.
22:15
Speaker 3: I think most of my clients, you know, six months
22:18
Speaker 3: to a year to you know, their senior year, will
22:21
Speaker 3: tell you that the process works and they trusted the process,
22:25
Speaker 3: and it does get you to where you do have
22:27
Speaker 3: those genuine friendships and find your people.
22:29
Speaker 1: No for sure. And I think what I meant by
22:32
Speaker 1: that is, of course, when you go through the process,
22:35
Speaker 1: you find your people, but you also deal with the
22:38
Speaker 1: noise of everybody else speaking during the recruitment process. It's
22:44
Speaker 1: no secret what the top three sororities are at any
22:47
Speaker 1: school when you're going through that recruitment process. So is
22:50
Speaker 1: this the kind of avenue that you take in that
22:53
Speaker 1: mental health like part of your course by you know,
22:57
Speaker 1: really educating these women that it's okay to obviously like
23:02
Speaker 1: a sorority that is not in the stereotypical top three,
23:05
Speaker 1: And is this something that you really educate them on
23:08
Speaker 1: because I could like feel, I could you know, I
23:10
Speaker 1: feel what you're saying. How you know they're all going
23:13
Speaker 1: to find their way and they're all going to find
23:14
Speaker 1: their avenue and what sorority speaks to them, which is
23:17
Speaker 1: one hundred percent true, but also dealing with the stereotypes
23:22
Speaker 1: of going through the rushing process. You do know what
23:26
Speaker 1: the top are, what the you know, low ring sororities are,
23:30
Speaker 1: you do Yeah, I.
23:31
Speaker 3: Give a lot of advice on like where to really
23:34
Speaker 3: push out the noise, because I do think there are
23:36
Speaker 3: a lot of external places where these women start to feel.
23:42
Speaker 3: Their confidence really starts to dwindle when they have a
23:46
Speaker 3: roommate who makes us a comment about maybe a chapter
23:49
Speaker 3: that they still are interested in, or they have on
23:51
Speaker 3: their schedule, or they're walking to their next party and
23:55
Speaker 3: they hear two girls in front of them talking about,
23:57
Speaker 3: you know, a house that they just came from, or
24:00
Speaker 3: even I have like clients whose moms or aunts or
24:03
Speaker 3: cousins or anyone in their family who maybe reach us
24:05
Speaker 3: out to them and says, oh my gosh, I can't
24:07
Speaker 3: believe you're still interested in XYZ. So I do really
24:10
Speaker 3: try to help them understand that there isn't there's not
24:14
Speaker 3: like this one set thing like it's okay to find
24:17
Speaker 3: your place and where you feel like you belong because
24:21
Speaker 3: this is your experience. This isn't your mom's experience, this
24:23
Speaker 3: isn't your roommate's experience. And I really do coach clients
24:27
Speaker 3: as a roommate. You probably shouldn't be discussing the you know,
24:31
Speaker 3: the rounds and what houses you like, because you're each
24:33
Speaker 3: individual's and you're gonna find that you probably are gonna
24:37
Speaker 3: join different storties and still, you know, be great roommates
24:40
Speaker 3: and have a great friendship, but you don't necessarily have
24:43
Speaker 3: to do the exact same thing that someone else is doing.
24:45
Speaker 2: Yeah, we've had another We had another coach on and
24:48
Speaker 2: I asked her this same question. I wonder if you
24:53
Speaker 2: face a lot of judgment about what you're doing. And
24:57
Speaker 2: I know for me and I said this to our
25:00
Speaker 2: last coach, so just fair. But I don't know that
25:04
Speaker 2: I would ever hire someone My daughter went through rush
25:07
Speaker 2: and I you know, I went through one hundred years
25:10
Speaker 2: ago and my mother didn't even know what a soorty was.
25:12
Speaker 2: But I don't think that I would hire a coach.
25:14
Speaker 2: And I wonder if you and that's please don't misunderstand me. No,
25:19
Speaker 2: I'm sure that you know you've helped a lot of women,
25:21
Speaker 2: especially I love the mental health part. But do you
25:23
Speaker 2: get a lot of flacks or blowback in terms of
25:26
Speaker 2: what you do. Do you experience that I do?
25:29
Speaker 3: And I think it's just misconception of what my role is.
25:34
Speaker 3: And so what I really help try to help people
25:36
Speaker 3: understand is I'm not here to get someone into a
25:39
Speaker 3: particular sorority. I would love for women to go through
25:43
Speaker 3: the experience of recruitment and find this unique thing that
25:48
Speaker 3: is on a college campus where you can really explore
25:51
Speaker 3: who you are, you can be challenged, you can be
25:54
Speaker 3: a part of something where you're giving back in philanthropy
25:57
Speaker 3: and learning skill sets that you're going to use for
26:00
Speaker 3: the rest of your life. And so I really want
26:03
Speaker 3: people to understand that my job is just to get
26:06
Speaker 3: more people who want to join this process and be
26:09
Speaker 3: a part of it. And you know, I always tell
26:13
Speaker 3: clients you.
26:15
Speaker 1: You are special.
26:16
Speaker 3: You're going to find your place, whether that's in a
26:18
Speaker 3: sorority or somewhere on your campus, but you have something
26:20
Speaker 3: to offer, and these sorority women are going to see
26:24
Speaker 3: that if you're true to yourself and you really do,
26:28
Speaker 3: you know, kind of dig down deep and really showcase
26:30
Speaker 3: who you are.
26:31
Speaker 4: But I do think there.
26:33
Speaker 3: Is a lot of pushback against Yeah, like I said,
26:37
Speaker 3: I've been doing this ten years and so I have
26:39
Speaker 3: seen the ebb and flow of being just one of
26:42
Speaker 3: a few doing this to now you know, hundreds, if
26:44
Speaker 3: not thousands, and I think they all have different approaches.
26:48
Speaker 4: But I know in my heart.
26:49
Speaker 3: What I'm doing is really to build these women up
26:51
Speaker 3: in their confidence, help moms know how to support their
26:54
Speaker 3: daughters at in this transition. And I just want them
26:57
Speaker 3: to get the skills and life lessons that can help
27:00
Speaker 3: them carry on, you know, from college and beyond. I
27:03
Speaker 3: think as a woman in a sorority, you can just
27:07
Speaker 3: gain so much from it.
27:09
Speaker 4: And I just yeah, like I said, I just want.
27:11
Speaker 3: More people to be a part of it and see
27:13
Speaker 3: it in It's true, like it's unfortunate that there are
27:16
Speaker 3: so many things that kind of downplay the sorority experience.
27:20
Speaker 4: You know, they focus on some of the things that
27:22
Speaker 4: I think.
27:23
Speaker 3: Take away from really what sororities are doing on campuses.
27:26
Speaker 2: You know, I think that's definitely admirable, but we've also
27:28
Speaker 2: heard some horror stories about and about the girls that
27:34
Speaker 2: have been rejected and what happens and what that looks like.
27:37
Speaker 2: And it's I think that it is what you're describing
27:41
Speaker 2: is very admirable to sort of help women express their
27:44
Speaker 2: true self and to not just look for status when
27:49
Speaker 2: they're you know, rushing. But I don't know, it feels
27:52
Speaker 2: like when I hear sorority coach, I hear someone who
27:57
Speaker 2: is coming in to help my get into the sorority
28:02
Speaker 2: that she wants by please forgive me. And I'm not
28:06
Speaker 2: saying that this is what you do it's just as
28:07
Speaker 2: a mother, this is what I would what occurs to
28:09
Speaker 2: me by transforming herself into what other young girls want.
28:17
Speaker 2: And I think that's why I the image of this, yeah,
28:21
Speaker 2: and and or the image of the sorority. And I'm
28:25
Speaker 2: very open to being wrong about that. And you seem
28:27
Speaker 2: also like a lovely woman who really cares about the
28:30
Speaker 2: girls that you work with. But it all seems like
28:34
Speaker 2: a little crazy to me. I have to be honest
28:36
Speaker 2: with you.
28:36
Speaker 3: Yeah, well, sure, I think there are a lot of
28:39
Speaker 3: things that girls do to prepare for sorority recruitment that
28:43
Speaker 3: does seem very crazy. You wouldn't do that, you know,
28:48
Speaker 3: in other circumstances. But I also think that you know
28:52
Speaker 3: this process and the way I mean, unfortunately, this is
28:56
Speaker 3: the way that sororities recruit new members, and so I
29:00
Speaker 3: think if there was a different process created that they
29:03
Speaker 3: could join in a different format, then that may be
29:06
Speaker 3: where we see.
29:07
Speaker 4: Some of this change.
29:08
Speaker 3: But in the end, I think some girls do go
29:13
Speaker 3: through and it is unfortunate because I see it too.
29:15
Speaker 3: I see it on social media, and I see it
29:17
Speaker 3: in other places. I have moms call me who tell
29:19
Speaker 3: me about, you know, people they know who are experiencing
29:22
Speaker 3: certain things, and it is. But I think if you
29:25
Speaker 3: can really step into understanding that you know, rejection is
29:31
Speaker 3: part of life. I think sometimes that's also the lesson
29:34
Speaker 3: here too, is that you know how you come back
29:37
Speaker 3: from some of that is important. And if, like I said,
29:40
Speaker 3: you can come into it with the right attitude and
29:43
Speaker 3: the right understanding and the right expectations, you know, this
29:46
Speaker 3: can be a really fun and successful process. But if
29:50
Speaker 3: you come in very narrow minded and this is all
29:53
Speaker 3: I want and this is what they expect from me,
29:56
Speaker 3: and this is how I need to look, then yeah,
29:58
Speaker 3: it's going.
29:59
Speaker 4: To be a lot of work. You're going to be disappointed.
30:15
Speaker 1: So what would you say that the biggest myth is
30:19
Speaker 1: to sorority rush.
30:21
Speaker 3: I think the biggest myth is that you have to,
30:26
Speaker 3: like you said at the beginning, transform yourself into something
30:29
Speaker 3: different than who you truly are. I think if you
30:32
Speaker 3: are a natural beauty and you are confident in who
30:35
Speaker 3: you are and you know what you're looking for in
30:38
Speaker 3: terms of joining something like this, then you are going
30:42
Speaker 3: to find you know, you're going to find your people,
30:44
Speaker 3: and you're gonna find your place, and it's going to
30:46
Speaker 3: be a really fun experience.
30:47
Speaker 4: I think when you come in and you're.
30:49
Speaker 3: Really second guessing yourself and you're really doubting yourself, I
30:55
Speaker 3: think that's where I see a lot of these girls
30:59
Speaker 3: start to put their worth and who they want to
31:02
Speaker 3: be so much in this these letters, as opposed to
31:07
Speaker 3: you know, really trusting themselves and stepping out and trying
31:10
Speaker 3: to just make a friend, because that's really what you know,
31:13
Speaker 3: at the end of the day, that's what they're that's
31:15
Speaker 3: what they're trying to do, is find their friends before
31:18
Speaker 3: school starts.
31:19
Speaker 1: Yeah, one hundred percent. What would you say the biggest
31:21
Speaker 1: mistake that P and MS make.
31:24
Speaker 3: Yeah, I think the biggest mistake is probably focusing too
31:28
Speaker 3: much on and I know we talked a little bit
31:31
Speaker 3: about this, but focusing too much on the things that
31:35
Speaker 3: aren't going to really make a huge impact for them.
31:37
Speaker 4: So things like I think attire and outfits are.
31:42
Speaker 3: Important, but if you are, you know, just focused on
31:46
Speaker 3: that and really worried about that, and you're not practicing
31:50
Speaker 3: the social skills of how to have a good conversation
31:52
Speaker 3: and how to connect with someone and how to make
31:55
Speaker 3: someone feel like they really have gotten to know you.
31:58
Speaker 3: In you know, a five ten fig two minute conversation,
32:02
Speaker 3: you're going to miss out on being able to really
32:04
Speaker 3: put yourself out there and find your place. I think
32:08
Speaker 3: the other thing that girls spend a lot of time
32:10
Speaker 3: on and effort is the recommendation process. So that has
32:15
Speaker 3: changed over the years, and I think it's a great
32:17
Speaker 3: way to make an introduction.
32:18
Speaker 4: To a sorority about yourself.
32:20
Speaker 3: And to having a lum introduce you to that organization.
32:23
Speaker 3: But it is not the end all be all, and
32:26
Speaker 3: I find a lot of clients stress and have a
32:30
Speaker 3: lot of effort that they put towards it, and so
32:32
Speaker 3: just helping them to understand that there are a lot
32:34
Speaker 3: of other things. If you can connect with girls before recruitment,
32:38
Speaker 3: if you can have a great conversation and you can
32:40
Speaker 3: really be yourself, then you know you'll be fine.
32:44
Speaker 2: I've definitely heard that that that letter of recommendation is
32:47
Speaker 2: outdated a bit. Yeah, yeah, listen, Leslie, what a pleasure.
32:53
Speaker 2: Thank you for coming on. Thank you so much, Thank
32:54
Speaker 2: you for talking us through this. We wish you continued success. Again.
32:59
Speaker 2: I have lots of ideas about this, as I'm sure
33:02
Speaker 2: Gia does, and it's new to me and so not
33:05
Speaker 2: meaning to be pessimistic, but we're trying to ask you
33:08
Speaker 2: the hard questions and to really understand what this is
33:12
Speaker 2: about and to be you know, honest with you and
33:15
Speaker 2: have an open dialogue. And thank you so much for
33:18
Speaker 2: talking to us.
33:18
Speaker 1: Yeah, you really do sound like you care about you know,
33:22
Speaker 1: the recruits genuine feelings and personality and what they want.
33:27
Speaker 1: And I feel like that's something that you know. Obviously
33:29
Speaker 1: you have stuck with it for three years, ten years,
33:32
Speaker 1: and you pretty much feel like you have. It's in
33:36
Speaker 1: our little cards here where you have one hundred percent
33:39
Speaker 1: success rate. So good for you, thank you.
33:43
Speaker 3: I know it's it is. It's a wonderful experience. Like
33:46
Speaker 3: I said, if you can find you know, that that
33:50
Speaker 3: place where girls can feel like they belong and they
33:52
Speaker 3: find their home.
33:53
Speaker 4: But I know it is.
33:55
Speaker 1: It's a lot.
33:55
Speaker 4: So I appreciate the time and the question.
33:57
Speaker 2: Where can our listeners find you? By the way, Oh
34:00
Speaker 2: yeah absolutely.
34:01
Speaker 3: I'm on social media so Instagram, sorority prep, one on one,
34:05
Speaker 3: I'm on TikTok sorority prep, and i have a website
34:08
Speaker 3: sororityprep dot com.
34:09
Speaker 2: Perfect amazing.
34:10
Speaker 1: Thank you so much, Thank you, Leslie.
34:12
Speaker 2: I have a great dead love to all your girls.
34:14
Speaker 2: Bye bye, I don't know. I don't know either.
34:18
Speaker 1: I mean, I now, I don't want to say like
34:21
Speaker 1: I felt like she was a little full of it,
34:24
Speaker 1: but I just one hundred one hundred percent successory.
34:28
Speaker 2: I mean what does that mean? Does that mean that
34:29
Speaker 2: you say to your clients you're definitely going to get
34:33
Speaker 2: into a sorority and then that's success because they got
34:38
Speaker 2: into one, maybe that they didn't necessarily plan on getting
34:42
Speaker 2: it into or how do you measure success? I don't know,
34:45
Speaker 2: it's it does seem like a lot, right, I know.
34:48
Speaker 1: I just didn't feel like it was very just sugarcoating.
34:52
Speaker 2: Yeah, like I want to know, like like she wasn't
34:54
Speaker 2: deep yeah, like like stop the bs, Like do you
34:56
Speaker 2: tell them what to wear?
34:57
Speaker 1: Yes?
34:58
Speaker 2: Like I tell them how much to make up to where?
35:00
Speaker 1: Like is it is it you really picture and tierras?
35:04
Speaker 2: Right? Yeah, yeah I do to.
35:06
Speaker 1: I just I don't get it.
35:08
Speaker 2: But listen, here's the truth, Like we're not we haven't
35:11
Speaker 2: gone through the process, and we're going to try not
35:14
Speaker 2: to judge even though we're judging. We're judging, yes, but
35:17
Speaker 2: we'll say that we're trying not to. I know, I mean, yeah,
35:20
Speaker 2: she's making a good loving Yeah, I mean, listen, I
35:23
Speaker 2: don't prefer that three thousand dollars, and she says, she gets,
35:28
Speaker 2: I mean maybe more. I thought we read it could
35:31
Speaker 2: be even more.
35:31
Speaker 1: Well, she said three thousand. If she does, if they
35:34
Speaker 1: do the whole package, okay, then it's two fifty to
35:37
Speaker 1: three hundred dollars.
35:38
Speaker 2: An hour hour.
35:40
Speaker 1: So if you're doing that, you're paying over three grand.
35:44
Speaker 2: So let's think about that. What is two fifty to
35:46
Speaker 2: three hundred dollars an hour? Ten grand? Ten grand?
35:51
Speaker 1: And what did you pay for.
35:52
Speaker 2: Your college tutor?
35:54
Speaker 1: Five thousand?
35:54
Speaker 2: That's what we paid for, right, So now you're paying.
35:58
Speaker 1: But she helped me with everything.
36:00
Speaker 2: I know. I admired one, believe me.
36:02
Speaker 1: And they were very very helpful. Right, But that's also
36:05
Speaker 1: like us going into college, into college, that's our career.
36:10
Speaker 1: I don't know this sorority life is not like that
36:12
Speaker 1: and all be all.
36:13
Speaker 2: And we're here to talk about like the good too
36:15
Speaker 2: of story life and how much fun it was and
36:18
Speaker 2: ours much you know, what it created in terms of
36:21
Speaker 2: life lessons and all of that.
36:22
Speaker 1: But and I love all of that, but you experienced
36:25
Speaker 1: that once you're in it.
36:26
Speaker 2: Yeah, nobody told me.
36:27
Speaker 1: What to a dress or how to look like just
36:29
Speaker 1: the stakes.
36:30
Speaker 2: Are so high. If you're spending that kind of money
36:32
Speaker 2: as a kid, I would think you would feel pressure. Yes,
36:35
Speaker 2: like all of this money and it's so important that
36:39
Speaker 2: I would spend thousands of dollars on it. I'm not
36:43
Speaker 2: saying it's not important to young women, but I don't know.
36:47
Speaker 1: I just feel going into it with and Yes, she
36:51
Speaker 1: was saying rejections are part of life, yes one. And
36:54
Speaker 1: I think that is a big lesson to learn throughout
36:57
Speaker 1: life that you are going to get rejected. Sometimes that's
37:00
Speaker 1: not only going to be from a sorority. It could
37:02
Speaker 1: be from a guy.
37:03
Speaker 2: A woman is teaching how not to get rejected, right,
37:06
Speaker 2: And I mean, I know they do that, their college
37:08
Speaker 2: counselors to do that. It feels different to me. It
37:11
Speaker 2: feels like, here's how you make people like you or
37:14
Speaker 2: this sorority. I don't know, I don't know. We could be.
37:17
Speaker 2: I feel badly saying it because she was a lovely woman.
37:19
Speaker 1: She was she was. I just I think that there's
37:24
Speaker 1: a way you experience the good once you're in the sorority. Yeah,
37:29
Speaker 1: And I feel like getting into the sorority being your
37:34
Speaker 1: authentic self and not really changing much about you. Sure, yes,
37:39
Speaker 1: wash your hair that day.
37:41
Speaker 2: Blow it out, wash your hair most yah.
37:43
Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yes.
37:44
Speaker 2: Well fair about every three but whatever.
37:47
Speaker 1: Yeah, but like wash your hair, ye, put yourself together
37:50
Speaker 1: a little bit. Sure. Are you going to maybe go
37:52
Speaker 1: to the mall and buy an outfit that you probably
37:54
Speaker 1: wouldn't wear in a royal day? Yes, because you're excited
37:57
Speaker 1: put on a cute dress. Wear's something that you feel
38:00
Speaker 1: good in. You know, maybe put on some heels, but
38:03
Speaker 1: you don't need to spend.
38:06
Speaker 2: Three thousands of dollars. And also, I wonder, like learning
38:10
Speaker 2: how to talk to people is not an interview, right,
38:12
Speaker 2: You're not trying to get a job, So I don't
38:14
Speaker 2: know how do you teach that? I guess. I guess
38:17
Speaker 2: there's social skills or a lot of people.
38:19
Speaker 1: I mean, yes, A big part of the recruitment process
38:23
Speaker 1: is talking to girls and really having that speed dating
38:27
Speaker 1: mentality and having them get to know you in that
38:29
Speaker 1: ten to fifteen minute period. But okay, you'll if you
38:35
Speaker 1: find that connection, you'll connect with the girl in two minutes.
38:37
Speaker 1: If you don't find the.
38:38
Speaker 2: Connection, you move on.
38:39
Speaker 1: Yeah, there were girls that when I was going through
38:41
Speaker 1: that recruitment process that I was like, okay, yeah, I'm
38:44
Speaker 1: over this.
38:44
Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't want it to be to keep having
38:46
Speaker 2: this conversation.
38:47
Speaker 1: It's getting boring and it does get repetitive because you're
38:50
Speaker 1: having the same conversation with a million different sorority houses.
38:54
Speaker 1: But when you feel that connection, those people that you
38:57
Speaker 1: vibe with, those are the people and that and the
38:59
Speaker 1: sororities that you want to move forward.
39:01
Speaker 2: And I'm sure she does coach that. I'm sure that
39:03
Speaker 2: she also says, you know, I would say, if I'm
39:06
Speaker 2: you know, trying to help my daughter to be more
39:09
Speaker 2: of a conversationalist, I don't like I would definitely say,
39:13
Speaker 2: you know, ask questions or I don't know, positives are
39:18
Speaker 2: better than negatives. I don't know, but this seems excessive
39:21
Speaker 2: to me, right, yeah, a little bit. I'm sorry, Leslie. Again,
39:25
Speaker 2: we could be wrong, Yeah, we could, right, I just
39:30
Speaker 2: I don't know, I don't know.
39:32
Speaker 1: I feel like, you can you girls can authentically do
39:35
Speaker 1: this on your own. Yeah, it doesn't need to be
39:39
Speaker 1: like all this superficial stuff. I think.
39:41
Speaker 2: And by the way, it's okay if you don't get
39:44
Speaker 2: into a sorority.
39:45
Speaker 1: It's really okay. You'll be fine.
39:46
Speaker 2: It's gonna be. Okay, Yeah, it's gonna be. I can
39:49
Speaker 2: promise you life will throw you a lot of curveballs.
39:53
Speaker 2: This one may feel in the moment like it's a
39:55
Speaker 2: huge one. I could almost guarantee you're gonna graduate college
40:01
Speaker 2: and you're going to look back at it and you're
40:04
Speaker 2: going to maybe even laugh a little about it. But
40:08
Speaker 2: good luck, I mean good luck all of our listeners.
40:11
Speaker 1: Seriously, but really, and this is also an expense that
40:15
Speaker 1: most people are not going to.
40:18
Speaker 2: Just spend on the jail. So there's expense the sorority itself,
40:23
Speaker 2: paying the sorority dues. And now you're paying.
40:27
Speaker 1: Your college tuition, then your books, you know, everything needed.
40:31
Speaker 1: You're going to spend at least five hundred dollars on
40:33
Speaker 1: textbooks during your first semester going into college. So it's
40:37
Speaker 1: your tuition, your textbooks, your sorority fee is and then
40:41
Speaker 1: this on top of.
40:42
Speaker 2: Stepend it feels like it's unlesssary, like something I feel
40:46
Speaker 2: wealthy families do. I wouldn't think that. Yeah, I don't know,
40:50
Speaker 2: but all right, so my friend, yes, so my sorority sister,
40:55
Speaker 2: I guess my sister is a five? And what was
40:57
Speaker 2: your whatever? But great, interview. Yes, right, and really interesting.
41:03
Speaker 1: Really interesting. I mean listen, if it is something that
41:06
Speaker 1: you have access to and it's something that you want
41:10
Speaker 1: to do, by all means, go for it. But I
41:12
Speaker 1: also feel like you guys can really achieve.
41:16
Speaker 2: Maybe figure it out on your own.
41:18
Speaker 1: So this is dirty rush and that is it for today.
41:22
Speaker 2: I am Jen and I'm Gia. See you next time. Right, guys,
41:25
Speaker 2: listen to us. Next time listen see whatever it is.
41:28
Speaker 1: Bye you next time. Bye,
