- 0:11Hello friends, Happy Friday to you Sean.
- 0:15Here it is the end of the week. Welcome to today.
- 0:20I hope today is just like a rainbow with a pot of gold not
- 0:25far away. Although it's hard to find that
- 0:29pot of gold, isn't it? You can get to the end of the
- 0:31right road and go searching in the bushes, but it's just not
- 0:34there. Well, I hope that well, Saturday
- 0:36and Sunday do actually arrive and you can find that little pot
- 0:39of golden time to rest and recover and be maybe even sleep
- 0:44in and cook some bacon for breakfast.
- 0:47Now that is me showing you my hand of what I I think is an
- 0:51outstanding way to spend the weekend cook breakfasts.
- 0:54Ah, you just can't get enough of them, right?
- 0:57So good. I hope you have some of them in
- 0:59the days ahead, because today we are going to read a Psalm.
- 1:03This is a Psalm of praise. Psalm 92.
- 1:07This is a Psalm, A song to be sung on the Sabbath day.
- 1:11So, well, I'm sorry. We're going to do it on Friday.
- 1:14Not quite the Sabbath, but if you like, you can re listen to
- 1:17it. Or you can sing it to yourself
- 1:19on the Sabbath. It's Psalm 92.
- 1:21You can open your Bible. The the rhythm.
- 1:25I often try and sing these to myself sometimes, but it really
- 1:29doesn't work. The the translation from the
- 1:31original into the English doesn't really still have that
- 1:35that rhythm and that cadence that makes us able to put it to
- 1:39song. Or maybe I'm just not nearly
- 1:42talented enough, or musically rhythmly rhythmically gifted.
- 1:48Clearly not linguistically gifted.
- 1:50But that's OK. I will do what I can, and right
- 1:53now what I can do is invite you to put down your day and join me
- 1:59as we read together. Psalm 92.
- 2:13It is good to give thanks to the Lord to sing praises to the Most
- 2:18High. It is good to proclaim your
- 2:21unfailing love in the morning, your faithfulness in the
- 2:24evening. Accompanied by A10 stringed
- 2:27instrument, a harp, and the melody of a liar.
- 2:32You thrill me, Lord, with all you have done for me.
- 2:36I sing for joy because of what you have done.
- 2:40Oh Lord, what great works you do, and how deep are your
- 2:44thoughts. Only a simpleton would not know,
- 2:48and only a fool would not understand this.
- 2:51Though the wicked sprout like weeds and evil doers flourish,
- 2:55they will be destroyed forever. But you, O Lord, will be exalted
- 3:02forever. Your enemies, Lord, will surely
- 3:05perish. All evil doers will be
- 3:07scattered. That you have made me as strong
- 3:11as a wild ox. You have anointed me with the
- 3:15finest oil. My eyes have seen the downfall
- 3:19of my enemies. My ears have heard the defeat of
- 3:22my wicked opponents. But the godly will flourish like
- 3:27palm trees and grow strong like the Cedars of Lebanon, for they
- 3:33are transplanted to the Lord's own house.
- 3:37They flourish in the courts of our God.
- 3:41Even in old age they will still produce fruit.
- 3:45They will remain vital and green.
- 3:48They will declare the Lord is just.
- 3:51He is my rock. There is no evil in him.
- 4:07Well, father, the Psalmist said it all.
- 4:09What is left to pray, except to echo those words that it is good
- 4:15to give you thanks. It is good to sing your praises.
- 4:18It is good to proclaim your unfailing love in the morning
- 4:23and the evening. You are just the best, and we
- 4:28love you so much. Thank you for being the
- 4:32incredibly generous, faithful, magnificent God that you are.
- 4:39We just bow down before you and we elevate you as high as our
- 4:44little human concepts can raise you.
- 4:48And we worship you alone. It is good to give you thanks
- 4:54and praise. And that is what we give you
- 4:57now. And we do this all in the name
- 5:01of Jesus, whom You gave us to reveal Your heart to us.
- 5:10Amen.
